Toshiba registry patch update and Toshiba disc creator issues

Question: Toshiba registry patch update and Toshiba disc creator issues

I don't understand how the registry patch update works, i downloaded and extracted the update as asked into a temporary folder but there was no install setup and i'm pretty sure i didn't install anything unless the system installed it itself without asking me. I want to know how this registry patch works and how it is installed.

And the disc creator has wasted over 15 empty DVD with the same error code 380381-26-2A030C00. I don't know what to do about it, i've tried microsoft fix it software and deleted the upper and lower filters in the registry but still, i can't burn CD's.

Help me. Thanks.

Preferred Solution: Toshiba registry patch update and Toshiba disc creator issues

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Toshiba registry patch update and Toshiba disc creator issues

I?m a little bit confused?
What Disc Creator patch do you mean?
What notebook do you have exactly?

On the Toshiba European driver page I could find some patches like recovery patch.
But this is Registry Patch for System Restore.
After downloading the zip folder, you should unzip this package? then you will find one exe file? this file needs to be unzipped too! Right click on this file and choose unzip here.
Now you should find some additional files and one of the files should be an install.exe?

However, in your case I recommend testing other disk like DVD-R from different manufacturers like TDK?
I use DVD ?R and never had any problems using such disks?

Hey all. Hoping someone can help me with a small problem. I have a brand new Toshiba l745. I have the laptop exactly how I want it with regards to creating a restore disc. Unfortunately, Toshiba's Restore Media Creator program fails to verify the 1st disc every time I try to burn a set of restore dvds. I am not gonna just hope that the discs work when I need them. Can this be done with windows7 or is there another program I can use to complete this task? Or maybe someone knows what the deal with Toshiba's software. (I already burned a test DVD to make sure the drive is capable of burning the discs I am using) Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have Satellite A300-148 laptop
Since I bought I tried to create a recovery disc to format my laptop but whenever I try to open "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator" this message pops up in my face:
ERROR: (5) "Access to C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator\Setenv.ini was denied."
What should I do ?

Answer:Cannot start my TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator

I don't know what is wrong there but only thing you can try is to install operating system with recovery image in hope after clean OS installation this tool will work properly.

The recovery image is saved on second HDD partition and to start recovery installation press F8 after starting your notebook up. In advanced boot options choose the first option ?Repair my Computer?. When System recovery options are shown please choose the last one ? Toshiba recovery option. After doing this just follow the menu on the screen.

When OS is installed try to use Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. I recommend you to use high quality DVD-R media.

I have Toshiba Satellite A300 model, The original OS came with it is Vista 32-bit. I have recently upgraded the Laptop to be Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have downloaded all the applicable programs associated with Windows 7 32-bit, until now all have worked perfectly smooth... However I have searched for the Toshiba Disc creator and have found none in the download page of Toshiba.

This is the link I use: E_RSL_DRIVERS

If someone could help me out in this and redirect me to the download page of Toshiba Disc creator (For Windows 7 32-bit). would be appreciated

I recently updated Vista to Service Pack 2 from SP1 and now I'm getting an error message when I try to use Toshiba Disc Creator "Unexpected error occurred. Error Code 32007C-26-00000001" It worked perfectly before.

This is the first time I've used it since updating so I think SP2 may be part of the problem but I'm not sure. I couldn't find any updates for TDC. My system is a Satellite L305-S5919 with Vista 32 bit.
Anyone have any idea what might be causing the error?

Answer:Error message when trying to use Toshiba Disc Creator

Have you tried to roll back OS to earlier time and check functionality again, just to be sure it has something to do with SP2 installation?

I don?t know if anyone here can offer some solution but I?m pretty pessimistic about that and don?t think Toshiba will offer new version.
As far as I know Toshiba disc creator was always offered with recovery image only and not as downloadable application.

Why you need these tools?
If you have installed your own OS version these tools are useless and due to this they are not offered for download and installation.

Then I will go and buy some blank DVDs..

Thanks and grettings,

Answer:After Windows 7 upgrade can I use the Toshiba recovery disc creator?

Hey mate,

I doubt that this will work. I mean after Windows 7 installation there are no image files that you can burn on the recovery disk. So it will not work in my opinon.

If you don?t believe, just try it and post your result here! Blank DVDs are really not expensive ;)

Can anyone share their opinion of how Toshiba Disc Creator compares with the high-profile free burners BurnAware, CDBurnerXP (without Open Candy), and InfraRecorder? The context is data backups rather than music/video. Multisession (preferrably maximized for readability with existing disc readers) is highly valued.

The reason why I'm asking is because I own only one computer, a Toshiba Satellite A660. I sussing out the possibility that there may be synergy advantages from using a Toshiba burner on a Toshiba platform, though I fully prepared for the possibilit that there isn't.

Answer:Toshiba Disc Creator vs. BurnAware, CDBurnerXP InfraRecorder

Toshiba Disc Creator is nice and basic burning software which you got for free.
Toshiba Disc Creator can write to CD-Rs, DVD-Rs. You can make copies of CDs and DVDs.
The software provides five options: burn audio disc, burn data disc, copy disc, disc to image and image to disc.
For a common usage, these available options should be good enough?

Other mentioned software is not known to me? beside the Toshiba Disc Creator I use the Nero burning ROM. Of course you have to purchase this software but in my opinion its one of the best burning software on the market.

I have an A110, with XP loaded as supplied and I am using *Toshiba Disc Creator* (because I was told Toshiba turned off windisc because it would conflict).

The problem is when I burn a Data CD for photo backups etc the operation is successful but *afterwards the disc creator program freezes* and will not shut down properly.
I have tried cntrl plus alt plus delete, and tried to select the application and shut it down too but it just can't force it to shut down and it uses loads of system resources so I am eventually forced to switch off with the power button, which I hate as I understand an improper shutdown can really mess things up!

So do you cool dudes have any suggestions. Is there a patch out there, or could I use another CD/DVD burning programme, I haven't yet because of what I was originally told about conflicts?

Awaiting your wisdom.

Answer:Equium A110: Toshiba Disc Creator crashes

did you already checked on the Drivers Download page for some newer version of the Toshiba disc creator? Maybe it?s just an version which conflicts which some other software on your computer.

What I would suggest is to reinstall windows and install ONLY the Toshiba tools and nothing else. Please take care of the installation order which is listed in a document -> downloadable from the Drivers Download page.

If it then fails then it could be some kind of software problem but if not then you know that some other 3rd party application interferes with the disc creator.

Guys I am using Satellite A350D-20K

before or the original OS of my laptop was *Win Vista 32bit* but I have choose changed it to *Win7 64bit*..
I have already downloaded the other drivers from this site for my new OS but it's not complete, anyway it's not a big deal.

I just wanna have an installer for *Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator for win7 64bit*
before on my win7 32bit there was a Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator ("but it does not have an installer on my CD backup I don't know why?")

I searched for installer here but the only thing that I saw was for Win Vista, I tried to install it luckily it was successfully done. It prompt's for restart so I restart my laptop then I tried to open the application but there was an error message that prompt it goes like this

"The Toshiba Recovery disc can not be Launched."

* I wanna ask you guys if do you have an Idea why it goes like that?
* Do you have an Idea where I can get the right installer for my new OS

Thank you very very much guys...

Answer:Satellite A350D-20K - need Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator for Win7

Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator is a Toshiba tool which created the Recovery disk from the recovery image available on the HDD.
It?s NOT backup tool like Ghost, etc?which allows you to create a image of your preinstalled OS.
If the Toshiba Recovery files are not available on the HDD then the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator will not work!

I need to make my recovery disc's for my Satellite P300 (PSPCCA-05V01Y) but the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working, as it is saying that there isnt a HDD Recover file on the pc.
I tried before, and it had a problem with the core files, saying it was corrupt.
So I was wondering if there is anyway I can download the HDD Recovery installation so that I can install it and bring it back to the 'factory state' and reburn the recovery disc's?
Cheers for any help

Answer:Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working on my Satellite P300

Hello Mikey

The situation is pretty complicated. When you got your notebook the recovery files was saved on second partition in ?HDDRecovery? folder. The second partitions and saved files should not be changed.

If you have done something with second partition or this folder Toshiba recovery creator cannot find these files and recovery media cannot be created. This will works with ?factory settings? only. but I see one other problem there.
Theoretically, you can now install OS again using HDD recovery installation procedure, and with factory state you should be able to create DVD but if the Toshiba recovery creator cannot find the files I am afraid the HDD recovery installation can have the same problem.

If you want you can test it. Try to start HDD recovery installation.

Try removing and reinstalling Disc Creator. Install the latest version from the Toshiba site.

Also update the BIOS, and ensure you are using quality DVD discs such as TDK. No-name discs wear out easy and use cheap dye's.

Also try deleting the UpperFilters and LowerFilters:

Did you change anything on your notebook?
I mean if your HDD recovery partition has been changed or the data o thin partition has been deleted?

To be honest for me it looks like the OS issue. I think it?s not a single tool issue but I think the operating system has been muddled up?

Maybe you should try to recover the notebook using the Toshiba HDD recovery option and after the new OS installation on the notebook you could try to create the recovery disk again.

In order to start the recovery you have to press the F8 immediately after the notebook has been powered up. Then you should choose the first option called ?Repair My Computer?.
This would lead to a new window and there you could choose ?Toshiba HDD recovery?.

But note; this recovery would format the whole HDD? so maybe you should backup some data before you would start this procedure.

I bought this laptop 2nd hand in the last two days with the factory default reset. However, I could only burn the 1st 2 out of 4 recovery discs using Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator.

I am running Vista Home Premium SP2 32bit. I booted to F8 reset to factory "out of the box" settings which went fine. I did this in case there was a glitch when the previous owner restored the factory settings.

As it had SP1, I installed SP2. I have upgraded the BIOS from 1.1 to 1.4, the latest. I have also installed the latest version of Recovery Disc Creator for L500D, after uninstalling the old version.

Downloads have been from

I have changed to another brand of blank DVD. I have ticked and unticked "Verify" in the Recovery Disc Creator. I also have the latest Toshiba Disk Creator software version installed. I have tried burning discs 3 & 4 separately from the whole set

I get no error message, only that the 3rd disc progress bar never quite finishes to the end. The previous owner never created a set of factory restore discs. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This error message appears 6 times when I run the software and select either Audio or Data option.
Then the normal file transfer window associated with the software followed by 6 more of the same error messages, and the software FAILS to burn anything..... When the software is closed it does so with 6 more error messages before closing...

The laptop came installed with Vista 32-Bit and I formatted the computer before installing Windows 7 64-Bit as a clean install....
No problems were encountered at anytime during this process, infact the laptop has been better than ever.... until now :)

Answer:Satellite A300: Does TRDC Reminder & Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator work after Win 7 upgrade?

Hello Igor

In my opinion you should create recovery disc before you upgrade it to Win7. I have done the same.
Later if something goes wrong you can use your discs and install Vista again using created recovery discs.

I don't understand why you want to wait and create these discs after upgrade. This recovery disc creator doesn?t create recovery image of current state but always the same recovery image you got with your notebook.

Tempro should work in Win7 too.

Hi Folks,

I finally got round to buying a USB DVD drive in order to create recovery discs for my NB200-10Z. I got the following:

* Samsung SE-S084C, External USB 2.0 Slimline 8X DVD Writer, Black

I have twice tried to create a recovery disc and am now left with two trashed DVDs. The error codes in the error window are:

Error Code: 0E01B5-26-2A040803
Error code: 02016F-3C-00000000

The first time the burning was stopped, the second time the verify failed.

Can anyone shed light on this?

I uninstalled the recovery software creation tool by mistake when cleaning the trials and demo stuff off my new laptop.

Any idea where I can get this?

Answer:How to get Toshiba Recovery Media Creator again?

Well, the easiest solution would be the usage of system restore tool.
You could set the OS back to the early time point before you have uninstalled this tool.

What do you think about this suggestion?

Hi i have had this problem for a week or so i keep getting a error when trying to uninstall this program i think this happened because i had to restore a week ago and since then it wont remove through programs and features, i have tried a few third party uninstalls but they wouldnt work either i have posted on another forum but havnt found a solution yet this is what i have said:

i cant seem to uninstall Recovery Media Creator everytime i try to uninstall it i seem to get a red x error message with error code (-5005 : 0x80070002),
I think this was caused by system restore it may have removed a file in the trusted installer folder, i have literally tried everything i know of but cant seem to remove it.
I have got all my recovery so i was trying to remove it because of that and it kind of annoys me when i cant remove a program i have no idea how to manually remove programs but i do have a bit of knowledge with operating systems so if theres any advice on that would be great.
Kind Regards

Good morning everybody,

I've a question about the Recovery Media Creator. Is it possible to download it from Because I can't find it here.. I deleted it from my Laptop, just thought I didn't had to use it anyway. But now I have to install it again to delete some other things from my laptop.

Hope someone can help me here,

Answer:Is it possible to download the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator?

From my knowledge this is not possible because the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator is part of the Toshiba image and it can be used only in connection with the available Toshiba image files.

If you would format the HDD and would install the clean Win 7 OS then the Toshiba image files would not be available and the Toshiba Recovery disk Creator will not work.

Hi, I have a new Toshiba laptop and I would like to replace Windows 7 Ubuntu (completely - so there will be no WIndows files left on SSD). I used tool Recovery media creator which I found among utilities preinstaled by Toshiba and I created USB recovery.

I wonder, when I wipe out WIndows and install Ubuntu instead, is the USB I created all I need to switch back to Windows?

To put it differently: When I will want to go back and replace Ubuntu by Windows, will booting from the USB and running the recovery be all I have to do to get rid of Ubuntu and have only Windows?

Answer:Question regarding Toshiba's recovery media creator.

> I wonder, when I wipe out WIndows and install Ubuntu instead, is the USB I created all I need to switch back to Windows?

Yes, the usage of Recovery medium (no matter if its Recovery disk or Recovery USB memory stick) would set the notebook back to factory settings.

Factory settings means that you would get the same state like at the first day of purchase.

Answer:Where can I dowload Toshiba Recovery disk creator?

Toshiba Recovery disk creator is part of the Toshiba image.
This Recovery Disk creator software creates the Toshiba disk using the Toshiba HDD recovery image files.
If you delete such image files, this tool will not help you even if you would be able to install it again.

By the way: I found such Toshiba Recovery disk creator on Toshiba Australian page for download

Looks like the Disc is dirty or faulty, or it was just a bad burn.

Try another Disc. Use high quality Discs since cheap Discs have cheap Dye and the data degrades quickly.

I?m a little bit confused? What CD or DVD is faulty??
The received Vista DVD or the Toshiba recovery CD??
In my knowledge the received Vista CD upgrades the old Toshiba XP to Vista? so I think you need the original Toshiba XP image for Vista upgrade?

I've L755 from PSK2YE series for 40 days, and I have a problem with the Recovery Disk Creator part. I believe something is missing as I simply do not have the TRDCLcher.exe on the menu. I probably unistalled it by mistake or so.

I still have the HDD Recovery partition on D:.

Is there any way possible of getting that file back so I peform the Disk Recovery?

Answer:Satellite L755 - Can't use Toshiba recovery disk creator

That means you can?t start the recovery disk creator or what happened exactly?

The recovery disk creator can?t be reinstalled because it?s only preinstalled on your notebook. I think in this case your only chance is starting the HDD recovery option and reset Windows to factory settings. With out of box settings you can use the recovery disk creator.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C650 bought in 2010, with Windows 7. I use pre-installed 'Toshiba DVD creator' to save stuff.

Recently, each time I burn a DVD (saving options: complete veryfing and close DVD), save it but when it supposed to start veryfing proccess, the DVD tray opens and a message appears ('DVD not correctly saved').

But the curious thing is that if I read that DVD in my laptop or even in another computer, the DVD seems to be correctly burnt, all folders and files are read. The amount of bytes is exactly the same as in the hard disk. The only problem is the DVD can't be verified.

This didn't happened at first, when I got my laptop. It seems a sort of 'incompatibility software' problem. I don't have many programs installed in my harddisk, but problems began after installing Microsoft's Essentials anti-virus.

I tried disabling 'permanent protection' in the antivirus, then reboot the computer and burn the DVD, but the problem persists. As I said before, the DVD seems to be correctly burn.

How do I solve the problem? What if I download a more recent DVD creator version?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Satellite C650 - Toshiba DVD creator - saves but not verifies

I had some problems burning the recovery disks too.
I had problems with different DVDs from different manufacturers.
Finally I could solve this using the DVD ?R from TDK? Verbatim worked too but I will stay with TDK DVD ?R.

On the Toshiba knowledge base portal this document was published:

+ODD Firmware Update to fix problems with the Toshiba Recovery CD creator+

It seems that for some CD/DVD drives the new firmware was published?
You can check if your CD/DVD drive is mentioned there and maybe an firmware update would solve this.

Hello everyone,

My question is about the Recovery Media Creator procces.
I was about to create the recovery and I noticed there are several options (DVD 4.7 Go, DVD 8.5 GB and USB Flash).

My Toshiba Satellite L855-12X is with a Blu-ray Disc Drive burner and would like to use a BD-RE I bought for backups.

Does anyone have a solution to use this media ?

Answer:Satellite L855-12X: How to use BD-RE with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator

I have the same optical disc drive in my Satellite but no option to use empty BD for recovery media creation. I presume preinstalled Toshiba software cannot handle with it.
Best thing you can do is to create USB recovery media.

To be honest I?ve created two back-ups (DVDs and USB). I can always use one of them if necessary.

When i try to make Recovery dvd with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator the burning fails.

During burning process i get an error that say that is impossible read the file D:\ZZImages\ZZImages\install29.swm (the .swm file in error change with different attempts).

I marked the option to verify dvd after burning.

I tried a few times: i try make a single dvd (requires 3 dvd for complete recovery).
i try 2 times with verbatim dvd+r the fist try failed, the second succeeded with the same kind of support.
i try make dvd numb. 2. for two time with dvd-r and dvd +r support and it failed again.

On windows error report i find this error:

and this alert:

I see this solution by upgrading firmware for different models of cd/dvd-rw units

but not about the model I have.

i have:

TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator version:
windows 8.1 x64.

there is a solution?
is a known problem?

Answer:Satellite C50-A-19T problem with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator

If fie that belongs to recovery image cannot be read than there must be problem with recovery image files and not with optical disc drive.
Have you tested optical disc drive functionality on some other way?

Does Toshiba recovery media creator offer option for recovery USB media? If yes, try please to create recovery USB to see if the same problem will happen again.

this error popup when I close it

Any idea why ?

Thanks by advance

Answer:Error message with TOSHIBA DISK CREATOR on Satellite P200-13k

I would suggest you to backup all your data and recover the machine. I am not sure why the error occurs or what the reason could be but usually this should be fixed by reinstalling the system with the recovery media (or HDD recovery) because the system is afterwards on factory defaults which should guarantee that the software works without any problems.

If the problem persists I would check the RAM memory, maybe itīs faulty and causes this errors.

Having just got my P300, i tried to create a backup using the TOSHIBA Recovery Disk Creator.
Having inserted a 4.7GB disk into the DVD drive, and backing up, when it was verifing, a message popped up saying:

"Failed to read the following file:

Error code: Blahblahblah
Failed to create Recovery DVD 1"

It is clear to me that there wasn't enough memory on the disk for it to complete. The disk size had also shrunk by about 0.5GB.

My main question is:
Do you need to use a DVD-R disk, or a DVD+R disk? Also, is a panasonic disk the best type of disk to use?

Please help.
Thanks, JoeC.

Answer:Satelite Pro P300: TOSHIBA Recovery Disk Creator error

It looks like Verify failed.

Ensure you are using a decent brand-name disc. TDK are good.

The cheap discs use cheap dyes, and have problems with some drives, and dont last long.

Then i also realized that in my laptop *recovery software is not installed*. I searched it on internet. But i found nothing.

I also want to ask there is 20 gb missing in my harddisk ( it hve to be 320 gb but seem as an 300 gb).Is it recovery partition? If it is so ; why cant i saw it on "my computer"?

Answer:Need Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator for Satellite A305-6829

you CAN'T see the hidden partition in my computer. to know it's there you'ld have to go to administrative tools (i'm not sure now) but even then, if it is a recovery partition you better leave it be and don't mess around with it.

Try holding down zero key while your pc is booting. (switch it off, hold down zero key, press power button while still holding down zero key).
it should launch the hdd recovery tool.

It didn't work for me but it might work for you.

Hey guys,
after upgrading my Toshiba Port?g? Z20T from preinstalled Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (using Windows Update) I cannot create a recovery USB stick (using Toshiba Recovery Media Creator) any more. After starting the Toshiba software and confirming administrator rights I get the message ?No HDD recovery area! The Toshiba Recovery Media Creator cannot be launched.? (Here in German: ?Kein HDD-Wiederherstellungsbereich! Toshiba Recovery Media Creator kann nicht gestartet werden.?) Before upgrading to Windows 10 I successfully created a recovery USB stick from this computer.
I did not format or re-partition the disk. This is the current partition list, created using DISKPART:
Partition ### Type/Typ Size/Gr??e Offset
------------- ---------------- ------- -------
Partition 1 Recovery/Wiederherstellun 1024 MB 1024 KB
Partition 2 System 100 MB 1025 MB
Partition 3 Reserved/Reserviert 128 MB 1125 MB
Partition 4 Primary/Prim?r 226 GB 1253 MB
Partition 5 Recovery/Wiederherstellun 450 MB 227 GB
Partition 6 Recovery/Wiederherstellun 10 GB 227 GB
There are three recovery partitions I have not touched at all. Windows 10 is on the ?Primary/Prim?r? partition, which is the only BitLocker-encrypted one. (I did not find any evidence, that Toshiba Recovery Media Creator has a problem with BitLocker, and I don?t want to switch it off.)
I have installed the latest Version of Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.
Is the software working on your Windows 10 computer?

Do you want to disable this notification?

You can do this is msconfig. Start the msconfig go to startup tab and uncheck process which is responsible for the Toshiba Media Creator notification. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

By the way; it would be advisable to clean the OS and registry using CCleaner. This tool is for free and would delete all temporal files

Answer:Where i can download Toshiba Disk Creator for Satellite A200-1DY PSAE3E

You cannot download this additional software.
The Disk Creator can be installed only using the Toshiba recovery CD. The software is a part of the image on the Recovery.

The point is that you have purchased the notebook with an OEM licenses and such additional software can be used only in connection with the Toshiba image.

Unfortunately but a full version cannot be downloaded. If you wan to use it on a different OS you will have to purchase it

I have got the the Windows10 Logo on my Satellite laptop and I'm waiting for the free Upgrade promised by Microsoft. I want to ask about the Toshiba Recovery CD creator. I already have my set of DVD ROMs of Toshiba Recovery. What could we do? Will the Toshiba Recovery able to create Recovery disks for the upgraded Windows10 to allow me to recover my laptop to Windows10?

Is there any advises or precautions?

Answer:Windows 10 free upgrade and Toshiba Recovery Media Creator

Toshiba recovery media tool creates bootable recovery media for OS version that you got with your notebook. Original recovery image is saved on HDD and what this tool is doing, is just copy on recovery media.

This tool doesn't create image of actual operating system that you use.

I have a toshiba portege z930 pt234e With Windows 7 Professional
I connected the external optical drive and was running fine
But when I installed the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, the external optical drive disappeared
When I open the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, Shows, No HDD Recovery Area!
I want to make a Recovery disk of the system

Answer:Portege Z930 - Toshiba Recovery Media Creator issue

The Recovery Media Creator is an Toshiba tool which requires the Toshiba image files in order to create the recovery disk. The image files are placed on a different partition called HDD recovery partition.

If the HDD has been modified or this partition deleted, the recovery media creator will not be able to find the image files and you will not be able to create such disk.

So my question is: did you reinstall the Win 7 at your own hand? Did you modify the HDD in the past?

I spend some hours to try to create the recovery disks for my Laptop (Satellite C660-1DG)

It fails on the second DVD halfway. It just hangs. CTRL-ALT-DEL does not work anymore a cold boot is required to start the thing again.

I tried several DVD's but NOGO each time halfway the second DVD it hangs.

I really need to create these recovery DVD's because Im going to upgrade the laptop to run a Windows Server 2012 install for development purposes.

I thought this would take just a minimum amount of time but... of course...

Any thoughs on any way to get this stuff working?

Answer:Satellite C660-1DG - Toshiba Media Creator Recovery fails creating 2nd DVD

I burned just another disk and it was full of validation errors: hundreds.

So I connected my external DVD writer (NEC ND-3500AG) (firmware 2.1A) and took THE SAME DVD and burned it: presto: no problems: 0 validation errors

So I deduce that the internal DVD writer (TSSTcorp TS-L633C) (firmware TF20) is chunky.

I am still in warranty but... is it any use?

Last week, I had to do a complete system restore to remove a virus. Because I did not have any Windows 7 boot disc at the time, I decided to boot linux (ubuntu) on the computer to ensure that my system was functioning ok. Today, I recieved my 3 recovery media discs in the mail, but I have no idea how to use them. The instructions say "Insert the disc, or the #1 disc of this set, into the drive and follow the directions on the screen." No directions have popped up. Do I need to remove linux first? If so, how do I do that. I have no way of getting Windows on this computer, except these recovery discs. Thank you.

before all, you should enter bios and set Cd/dvd rom as the 1 st boot device in Boot priority option. Then, press f10 to save and exit. Insert the 1st recovery disk and follow onscreen instruction.

I've recently received a copy of a high resolution music Bluray of the XTC album Oranges & Lemons but the Toshiba Blu Ray Disc player will not play this particular disc. Other XTC discs I have from this series play OK on the player running in Windows 10.

I've been in contact with the company that produced the disc and they have told me to raise this as a technical issue with Toshiba as there are commonly issues with disc compatibility with software versions of blu ray players housed in computers as opposed to hardware players.

It's known that this particular disc is causing issues with some other software players such as the PS3 which may require a Sony firmware upgrade for this device. I've been advised that the issue may result from it being a BD-J disc and the AACS MKB keys being in need of an update by Toshiba.

I also have VLC installed but this cannot currently play the disc due to an AACS library not being available on my computer. I know that VLC are working with the manufacturer to resolve the compatibility issues and hoped that Toshiba may do this for their software as well. All my XTC discs play without issues on a Panasonic Bluray player.

Is this the right place to request Toshiba look into this issue or is there an e-mail address I can raise the issue directly?

Not sure if I'm in the correct forum?  I tried to redo my Satellite P300 with the recovery discs I burnt when I bought the laptop.  No recovery partition on this model. The discs indicated an error right at the very end, and of course by that time the "C" drive was wiped.  Outside of buying recovery discs from Toshiba, if they're still available, does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Recovery Disc

I would try running the recovery discs again, this may have been a 'blip' and may not repeat. Make sure the discs are clean.
Failing that, what OS did you have on this laptop - XP, Vista, Win 7 ?  If you have a Windows validation code on a sticker on the bottom, and can lay your hands on an install disc for your OS, you can re-install Windows that way. The only problem you are likely to have is sourcing the drivers for the graphics, sound, wi-fi, etc. and the best place to go for them is the Toshiba web-site. If you google 'Toshiba satellite P300 drivers' you will find a number of links.
If all else fails, you can always try Toshiba for recovery discs. I have a set for a Satellite of slightly older vintage and I must admit I have never checked them for integrity !

I purchased the above notebook this past Jan 2006 and due to work committments I could not install the programs that I needed to use on the notebook until now. I went home and decided to burn an R+ disc in my drive with the source disc being a family edited R-. The notebook would read the disc and then fail to burn to any brand of R+ that I had TDK, Sony, Maxell, Imation, Verbatim and BenQ. I mention the latter as I own 2 BenQ 16 X dual layer burners, one that I bought last December and have used with my present satellite 2410 with no coasters and have done over 100 dvd backups. And all are playable on our large family's diverse brands of standalone players.
I use the R+ media brands all of which I listed above and notably Sony, Maxell and BenQ as their support out of Irvine Ca recommended these as being tested in their factory and that they are compatible and so they have been as I have had no coasters.

maybe its just a defective dvd drive that came with your laptop? If a re-install didn't help, and I am assuming that you CAN burn dvd +r media on that drive, then if it is not a software fault,it must be hardware fault. I have a failing Toshiba laptop which was unable to boot into windows.
I sent off to Toshiba for a product recovery disc quoting the serial number on the bottom of the laptop.
I boot from this CD and it goes into recovery, asks me to select language etc and then loads all the files .
All seems to be ok at this stage but then when it switches itself off after saying all files loaded ok I get the following error
after reboot -:
File \windows\system32\config\system

Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt.
Does this point to a hard drive failure? If so how do all the files appear to load on recovery?

For further info I have an identical laptop and when I tried swapping the hard drives the same thing happens but on the other laptop.
Thanks for your time and assistance. All contributions gratefully received.

Sorry if this is wrong section (feel free to move, Mods)

I have had problems with my wife's Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 on Windows XP Pro.

Had to reboot Windows due to curruption. I used a Toshiba Product Recovery disc containing Windows XP pro but not the disc that came with the laptop (lost!)

Windows is now running ok and the previous problems have gone.

The only thing now is I don't have the installation disc for all the drivers hence no sound, no wireless modem Pci modem etc etc.

Tried the Toshiba drivers site and downloaded everything I could but still no joy.

Does anyone have the discs that comes with this model that I could have/borrow please or any other info?

I am a everso slightly above average computer operator!!

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 Install Disc?

Did you try going to each components manufacturers website for the drivers?

I'm trying to do a disc check on a SATA 2.5 (laptop) Toshiba hard drive. Toshiba hard drives are always a pain, but this is the first SATA Toshiba drive I've had to check and I'm having a lot of trouble finding a utility to scan it. So far I've tried the following:

IBM drive Fitness Test - Does find the HDD, does scan it, reports errors, but won't fix bad clusters
Toshiba's DOS Diagnostic Tool Ver. 7.0 - Doesn't find the drive (way to go Toshiba!)
Maxtor's PowerMax - I don't believe this one found the hard drive
WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows - Reads the drive, finds errors, no option to repair bad clusters.
And several others that wouldn't find the drive

Each utility that has been able to find the hard drive and has scanned it has passed the drive on quick tests and only show errors toward the very end of an extended test. To me that means that the faults are a distance from the MBR and a repair could for once be successful. chkdsk consistantly shows just 350KB of bad clusters.

Yes I know any errors means it's a smart idea to replace the drive, but the owner doesn't have a Windows CD, and the laptop is healthy enough to warrant further investment.

Does anyone know of any other utilities to try?

Answer:How To Disc Check a SATA Toshiba

You might want to check into the "Ultimate Boot CD" that is listed in software at Major Geeks . . . I've been given to understand it contains several diagnostic programs that may be of use to you:

Or Hirens boot CD which also contains some freeware diagnostic programs, among other things. At one time their CD contained some stuff that was not freeware, but since then it seem they are now legit. Here is a link to a thread last year talking about it, with a link to their site:

Hi everyone,

I have problem with those two buttons on right top corrner on my toshiba r600, i just try everything and buttons not work.

I associate buttons with valid exe files in toshiba assist/toshiba button support/ register with target paths but buttons still not work,
also i check bios there are nothing that can enable/disable those buttons...etc...

all other things installed successfully such as drivers, software everything that i donwload from toshiba support page.

Any help???

My windows version is windows server 2008 enterprise sp1 x64.

Answer:Portege R600 Toshiba button (backlight, toshiba assist) don't work

Did the buttons work with the previous OS preinstalled by Toshiba?

I think the problem is the Windows Server 2008 enterprise sp1 x64?
Possibly the Value Added Package does not support it fully?

Of course the Windows Server 2008 OS is based on Vista but it?s not the same and I think this is the problem?

Answer:Toshiba satellite P300 (-1CD) won't boot past toshiba splash screen.

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.

I recently got a used laptop (Toshiba Satellite A205-S5841 with Windows Vista) from a friend and I want to have reformatted to out-of-box settings. He was a download junkie, I don't even know what most of these programs are. I tried wiping my registry and almost couldn't start my computer back up and still didn't get rid of half of it. I know how to take care of a computer but I can't fix one when it's broken. So I want to know how to get a recovery disc (preferably free) so I can start over.

Hi all.

I need to reformat my Portege R205-S209 and I am trying to figure out if it originally came with a reformat/windows CD. I purchased the computer as a display model and I didn't get the disc if there was one. I know that sometimes the info is preinstalled and you just have to press a certain key on the boot up screen. Does anyone happen to know off hand if this computer has a CD or not. I've tried the Toshiba website and numerous searches and have had no luck.

In case anyone is wondering, the problem I'm having is that each time I open up any folder in My Documents, the entire folder freezes. I've run countless spyware and virus scans and nothing has been found, and I don't know enough about computers to get too heavily into troubleshooting so I'd just like to reformat.

If anyone can assist me in reformat disc info I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for your help!

Answer:Reformat disc for Toshiba Portege R205?

Hi,Tina! First off, you wanna find out if there is a CD for your hard drive or you're interested in how to reformat? I don't know about the CD issue but I can help you with your reformat. What version of Windows are you running? I'm assuming that your PC came with Windows pre-installed and that's why you're asking for the CD...If it came with Windows preinstalled then it should've come with what is called a "REcovery CD". That CD would restore and format your system like brand new out of the box, but it will delete all your files. Do you have that CD? If not, you should contact the computer manufacturer and request a copy of that CD; a friend of mine had the same problem with a Sony VAIO and he called Sony and they mailed it to him (after verifying the authenticity of the computer) Post back with more info or any questions,ok? Good Luck!

Ive got a Toshiba P300 150 and i need the product recovery disc. I am not able to get to my desktop to create one.

Can some help, i got this laptop yesterday and i made a terrible mistake by putting a Toshiba P200 Product Recovery disc in the new laptop which is the reason why i messed it up.

If anyone has this laptop i would be so grateful if you would make me a copy.

I cannot purchase one until 7th Jan because Toshiba's site (uk) is doen until then.

If anyone has this laptop please email me

Answer:Toshiba P300 150 Product Recovery Disc

I don't have that particular computer and don't know if this will work for you. Try pressing the F8 key while powering up the computer from a cold start. This may bring up a screen to let you restore the computer to factory fresh conditions. The recovery is done from a hidden partition on the hard drive.

EDIT: Forgetting my manners. Hi and welcome to TSG. You may want to edit your original post to remove your e-mail address. Some spam bot may pick it up, if it has not all ready happened.

Re: Disc Write Protected
Re: Disc Write Protected on Toshiba laptop
In Feb. 2012 Emirateslad wrote to this forum concerning a problem with removing write-protection from a WD hard drive with his Toshiba laptop: "Problem solved. As directed by PIP22, I was in the properties area, and as everything was greyed out, I changed the drive properties to USb enumerator? And I now have access."

I have experienced exactly the same problem. Help! Can you explain what it means to "change the drive properties to USb enumerator" and exactly how I do it? (Not even Toshiba Support has be able to help me with this.)

Thanks so much for your prompt reply.
