Satellite P300 - lost the Toshiba tools after upgrade to Win7

Question: Satellite P300 - lost the Toshiba tools after upgrade to Win7

Hello everybody,

I bought a Windows 7 upgrade to Toshiba.

And I have 2 DVD :
1 for the Toshiba upgrade and 1 for the Windows upgrade.

I have run the 2 first steps without problems.

But when I have run the 3rd step (which is the upgrade of the Toshiba tools), an error occured and I wanted to cancel thee process (I have even removed the CD from the CD reader) but the process kept running.

In conclusion the process went to the end but no tools are installed and when I want to run the CD again it acts as if all the tools are already installed and it doesn't run.

What can I do for the system to consider that the tools are not installed ?

Or where can I find another install program which will run the Toshiba tools on my system ?

Thank you very much.

Preferred Solution: Satellite P300 - lost the Toshiba tools after upgrade to Win7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys

I have just removed Windows Vista from my Satellite P300 and installed a retail version of Windows 7 32 bit.

My question is now I have lost the Toshiba software on my laptop like the cd writer software and the web cam software and the toshiba Tempro, so just what do I need to download to get all the toshiba software that was on the computer before. Do I need the tempro software?

Hopw someone can give me some advice please

Answer:Satellite P300 - Where to find Toshiba tools?

Hi sam2149,

It?s no problem to get the Toshiba tools again. You don?t need TEMPRO to download all tools, just visit the Toshiba website and download all drivers and tools that you want: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

All available downloads for your model can be found here.

Hi guys,

Just want to find out how to get my computer to register the HDD2 (D: drive). I followed the provided instructions from Toshiba for downgrading to XP from Vista. The sheet said to select any option other than return to out of box state or maintain current partition. So I chose the only other option available.......which was remove the partition or something like that. Now I have 2 hard drives totalling 500Gb, but only one drive registers. What is the best way to sort this out......

Appreciate the help!!!

Please help

I purchased 2 of these laptops for my boys for high school. They came loaded with Windows 7 although I received an offer to update to Windows 8 for a special price which I did.

In the process of doing this it instructed me that there were some conflicts with some programs that I had to uninstall and then reinstall afterwards.

The programs I had to delete were:
Toshiba Disc Creator
Toshiba Face Recognition
Toshiba Health Monitor
Intel USB 3.0
Extensible Host Control Driver
Toshiba LAN Indicator
Toshiba Recovery Media Creator

Where do I find these programs to download? I did look up Toshiba and entered the computer model but it didn't recognise the last part of the model (PSK DLA).
I just want to make sure I am downloading the correct programs again.

I am also now having a problem with playing videos after downloading WIndows 8. I can hear the sound but I don't get the picture. This is also happening on my HP laptop. I am using the Radeon Graphics AMD (sorry, I know this is going to show that I have a computer with no idea).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Answer:Satellite L850 PSKDLA: Need Toshiba tools which were removed before Win 8 upgrade

All Windows 8 drivers are available on Toshiba EU driver page.
If some tools are missing then this means that such tools don?t exist for Win 8 at this time.

>Toshiba Recovery Media Creator
This is only a part of Toshiba image. The recovery disk creator creates recovery image from the system preinstalled by Toshiba. If you upgraded the system to Win 8, you will need to use another tools to create an system image.

Here also a nice documentation - Windows 8 Upgrade - Notes and Restrictions

By the way: Some drivers for Win 7 are compatible with Win 8
So you can also install the Intel USB 3.0 driver which was released for Win 7 on Windows 8 preinstalled notebook.

Answer:Toshiba satellite P300 (-1CD) won't boot past toshiba splash screen.

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.

I own Toshiba Satellite A110-110. After using this laptop for a two years with pre-installed system, CPU and RAM I have decided to upgrade it. So, I change Celeron M410 for a Core Duo T2450, 60 GB HDD for a 250 GB HDD and 512 MB RAM for a 2 GB RAM and Windows XP HE for a Vista Business.

Installation of all parts and software went fine. Then, I downloaded and installed drivers for Vista. So what is wrong you might ask?

An ATI Xpress 200M, which could get from RAM up to 256 MB for graphic on Windows XP, now, with Vista, this graphic card in control panel displays only 128 MB obtained (shared) memory. What is more, there is no option to change settings and have that old 256 MB. Maybe someone knows the solution?

As the second main problem after upgrading my personal system is total lost of all Toshiba utilities like Connectivity Doctor, Wireless LAN search (transparent oval radar hide on the right side of screen with other options), SRS WOW Sound panel and other which were in based configuration.

Vista doesn't display anything though I put to the system some of it. If anyone can help to solve this problem and has knowledge where I can get that kind of software please give me a tip, and write what kind of idea you are able to share.
Thank you for any help!!!

Answer:Satellite A110 Upgrade - Xpress 200M problem, lost Toshiba software

The thing with your graphic card is, that memory sharing is different in Vista. It shows the current amount of video ram in use and you can not set this amount manually as you could do under XP with some registry tricks.
You will have to deal with it.

For Toshiba tools and utilities check this download page: (Support & Downloads)

You can find Config free, Hardware setup tool, other utilities and the sound card driver which should contain the sound panel.

Been trying for 2 days to upgrade my sister's Toshiba Satellite P300, model PSPCCC-0K501C laptop from Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 10 home 64 bit.
It always stops at 32% and 5% of installing features and drivers. I've tried using the upgrade wizard, Windows update and directly from the media creation tool. They all fail at the same place. Her DVD drive doesn't work so I can't try that but I did use the media creation tool to make a USB install disk drive. I removed the DVD hardware and the wifi card incase they were causing the issue and ran the install from USB, it stuck again at 32% and 5% of installing features and drivers. When I reboot Windows 7 is restored.
This morning I tried another install after running msconfig, hiding all Microsoft services, unchecking everything on Startup and Services tabs and it stopped at the same place.

I know it is not on the Toshiba supported list but does that mean Toshiba won't provide support or that the laptop will just not accept a Windows 10 installation? Has anyone successfully upgraded one of these or is this planned obsolescence?
Does anyone have any other ideas?

hello everybody

Since my upgrade to Windows10 32bit from Windows 7 32bit, I am unable to access the BIOS (UEFI).

I am trying to access BIOS because I want to do a clean install of Windows 10 64bit, from DVD or USB stick.

I did setting -> Update & Security -> Recovery -> Advanced Startup Restart Now -> then I clicked on Troubleshoot -> Advanced Options -> And I can't find UEFI (BIOS) settings.

When I start my computer I lost the option "press F2 or F12 key" to access the BIOS.

Thanks for your help.

My computer: Satellite L750, PSK2YA-0L0802S

Answer:Since upgrade Satellite L750 - Win7 to Win10 I lost access to the BIOS (UEFI)

OK if you are interested about that you can try with clean installation for test purposes but if there are many problems and different issues I think you should install original recovery image again and use your notebook with “factory settings” again.

Can you enter BIOS settings?

Generally speaking you can try to start installation from USB if you press F12 at start-up and choose USB as bootable device. Does it work for you?

i asked a friend and he said i could upgrade cpu ram fans harddrive plus to get a cheap cool pad it gets very hot but i could not change the video card or something he said i should ask here for help.

Answer:laptop parts upgrade toshiba p300-16t

Looking here
1.You have the maximum RAM the laptop supports.
2. Video in laptops is rarely changeable because it is a chip soldered on the motherboard, rather than a card you can remove.
3. I have two of these
The mats do not steal one of my USB ports. There are crystals inside and the crystal absorb the heat and turn into a gel.

I can't help with cpu - not my area at all.

I'd also like to inquire, why do you feel the need to replace the harddrive?

Maybe the application must be reinstalled. You can download it on the Toshiba website.

May I ask you why you are looking for this ?Toshiba Utilities??
Are some notebook features no available?

In my opinion you don?t need Toshiba Utilities if you are using Win 7.
I have installed Win 7 and everything what I needed, was the VAP (value added package).

This package contains some tools and utilities.
If you want to use FN keys, then you should install additionally Toshiba Flash Cards Utility? such utility is not released for all notebooks models? so try to install such tool released for example for; Toshiba Satellite L500

Hello everyone,

I wasn't very clever of placing continiously my laptop on the floor, which lead to me stepping on it the other day and now I have a broken screen. It still works, but there are colored cracks..
I contacted Toshiba to check about the cost of such a repair and I was told that the price of the screen only will be more than 300? + the work and all will make it about 400?.
I also contacted a local computer shop and they said that a non genuine Toshiba screen will cost 160? + work.

My question here is: Can I by myself the screen on the internet and does it take any special skills to mount it on the laptop? I have just a bit more than basic skills in repairing elecronics and I suppose I will be able to change it, if it doesn't take any special skills or tools..
And as well, what screen should I buy? A genuine Toshiba one or a less expensive one also does its job?
The brand and the model of the laptop are: Toshiba Satellite P300 - 1G6 - 17"

Thanks in advance for all eventual responses!

This is a cut and paste of a previous post, but one which I am having a problem with today (saves me typing it out again!) :

When I start my laptop, it stops on he Toshiba leading innovation screen and only provides the option to do one of two things. This is what it says at the bottome of the page *"Press F2 to enter Setup, F12 to enter Multiboot Selection Menu"* I have tried both. I pressed F2, I've press F12 and neither one gets me pst the screen

- When I press either after the Toshiba screen is visible, they do nothing
- If I press the F2 during boot up, the instruction at the bottom of the page says "Please Wait". However, I waited for hours and nothing ever happened. The "please wait" message just sat there.
- If I press the F12 during boot up, the instruction at the bottom of the page says "Press F2 SETUP, Entering boot device selection menu....." Then it just sits there and does nothing
The Toshiba Leading Innovation screen remains the whole time.

I have tried removeing the battery and draining flea power - this does not resolve the issue.

When I restart the laptop, I get the situation as per line 1 above. No amount of tapping F8 does anything..I`m always back to the Toshiba leading Innovation page.

The fan is working but the HDD led never flickers.

Any suggestions please? Thanks

I need to make my recovery disc's for my Satellite P300 (PSPCCA-05V01Y) but the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working, as it is saying that there isnt a HDD Recover file on the pc.
I tried before, and it had a problem with the core files, saying it was corrupt.
So I was wondering if there is anyway I can download the HDD Recovery installation so that I can install it and bring it back to the 'factory state' and reburn the recovery disc's?
Cheers for any help

Answer:Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working on my Satellite P300

Hello Mikey

The situation is pretty complicated. When you got your notebook the recovery files was saved on second partition in ?HDDRecovery? folder. The second partitions and saved files should not be changed.

If you have done something with second partition or this folder Toshiba recovery creator cannot find these files and recovery media cannot be created. This will works with ?factory settings? only. but I see one other problem there.
Theoretically, you can now install OS again using HDD recovery installation procedure, and with factory state you should be able to create DVD but if the Toshiba recovery creator cannot find the files I am afraid the HDD recovery installation can have the same problem.

If you want you can test it. Try to start HDD recovery installation.

Why? What is wrong there? What have you done? Usually something like this cannot happen for no reason.
Have you tried to update BIOS or what?

What happen exactly when you press power button?
Try to remove RAM and HDD and try it again.

I have Toshiba Satellite with Win7x64 and I bought from eBay an AR5008.

If I boot from Linux I can connect to all the wireless nets.
However if I boot in win7 I cannot even see wireless networks. If I run the diagnostics I get that the radio is disabled.
Even with ConfigFree I get the same message although the switch on the front of the laptop is on.

What can I do? I?ve tried all the drivers!

Answer:Satellite P300 and Win7 - cannot see wireless networks

Normally you can enable or disable the WLAN connectivity using the hardware switch and key combination FN+F8.
Did you check this?

I assume for the FN+F8 key combination you need the Value Added Package. You can download it on the Toshiba website.

Last but not least, does WLAN works with preinstalled OS from Toshiba?

It's highest display is 1360 x 768 which leaves a gap of about 1/2 inch at the top and bottom of my screen.

I had full res on XP but not on Win 7.
The drivers are up to date.

Anybody know why?

Answer:Satellite P300-19P won't display 1,440 x 900 in Win7 64bit.

I think it could be an setting issue in your ATI Catalyst or the graphic card driver does not contain the favorite resolution.

As far as I know the Satellite P300-19P belongs to the PSPCCE and has been delivered with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphic chip.

First of all I recommend checking Catalyst settings.
Go to ATI Catalyst (should be placed in control panel)

Choose Advanced setting -> Notebook Panel Properties -> Attributes
Here in Scaling Options choose ?Full Screen?

Answer:Satellite P300 (PSPCCA) Win7 x64 drivers

I found this Toshiba FAQ about notebooks supported by Win 7.

As you can see the Satellite P300 is listed there.
I assume the drivers will be released as soon as possible.

The webcam and mic is not working???
I think you need to install the Chicony webcam software?
In your case I recommend checking the software released for Vista 64bit.
Some Vista drivers are compatible with Win 7. Therefore it worth a try to install the webcam software for Vista.

I have a new Satellite P300-156 which I have been using for about a month with no problems. It has been great.

This morning I had a message come up to install Toshiba Tempo which I did and all was fine until I restarted the laptop and now Vista wont start.
I have followed all the diagnostic tools, tried system restore etc... but still nothing.

I currently live in Italy, so is hard to take it into a computer repair shop as I dont speak Italian and the operating system is in english.

From what I can see my only option now is to do the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery, but I would loose some data which I have done since my last backup. Is there any way to backup data to a usb storage device using command promts before I do this, or is there a simpler way out of this?

Any advice would be great.

What you could do is to press the F8 button immediately after notebook starting.
This would enable a menu with ?Advanced Boot Options?.

There you could choose the option called ?Last known good configuration (advanced)?.

Please check this option. I this is your last opportunity to boot up the notebook and to start the Vista without using the Recovery CD.

I managed to get windows 7 professional (64bit), windows update pretty much installed all the updates.
Without any problems, but there are a few things that it cannot find.
The hotkeys and mouse track pad drivers. I went onto the toshiba site, then downloaded and installed the value pack. All drivers worked fine, but I noticed the drivers provided by toshiba for the WiFi card has made it stick to 65mbps.

I left it for a few hours and the speeds did not fluctuate at all, when i did a system restore and used the original drivers found by windows update my WiFi connection was ranging between 117 mbps and 150mbps.
I dont want to use the toshiba value pack becuase it will ruin the wifi drivers, I tried updating the drivers but they wouldnt work.

Is there any way to have the drivers for the hot key functions and mouse/trackpad seperately?
I would like to use them, If not Toshiba admins can you split them from the value pack so I can install the 2 drivers.

I forgot to mention: I have the Satellite P300 PSPCCE

Answer:VAP for Win7 64bit affects WLan speed - Satellite P300 PSPCCE

> Is there any way to have the drivers for the hot key functions and mouse/trackpad seperately?
I doubt this is possible?. The VAP is a package which contains different tools and utilities and the whole package cannot be slivered.

To be honest I?m not quite sure why the VAP should slow down the Wlan?.
But I?ve got a idea;

The VAP contains the Toshiba power saver. It enables some options in Vista power management.
For example there is an option ?Wireless Adapter Settings -> Power Saving Mode?
There are four power saving / performance settings. If your Wi-Fi connection is unstable or slow, try selecting a higher-performance setting.

You can also go to device manager -> Wlan card properties and there you could find some tabs.
In one tab called Advanced you could change the setting to get a higher speed.

Hi there,

I have a Toshiba Satelite P300, model PSPC4A-03N017, and I need to upgrade the HDD. It came with a 320GB and I was hoping to put in a 1TB drive.
I've found one on the web, it's a WD10TPVT 2.5" SCORPIO BLUE, 1TB, 5400RPM, 8MB, SATA II.

Has anyone tried this before?
Has anyone tried a WD HDD in their laptop before?

Answer:HDD Upgrade on Satellite P300

I am pretty sure you are the first one with this question.
My brother has Satellite P300 with 500GB and it works well.
I am not 100% sure but I presume there should not be big problem with 1 TB.

WD HDDs are good products and there is no reason why you should not use it.
I hope someone else has more experience with 1 TB HDD.

Anyway, if you will make decision to buy this HDD test it please and post some feedback.

Hi, My wifes Laptop(P300-150) has developed a tick from the HDD1 device - I would like to replace this 250GB drive with another , larger capacity HDD. So my question is twofold

1) what is the maximum size HDD this Laptop can tolerate ?? - 500GB?
2) does it matter if I buy a SATA -II drive - when the original disk in a SATA drive?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Re: Satellite P300 -150 and HDD upgrade

Unfortunately there is no document where you can find this info about maximum HDD capacity that can be used with Satellite P300 but I?m 100% sure you can use 500 GB on Satellite P300.

I don't know if your notebook has an SATA II controller but, as far as I know, SATA II is backwards compatible and I think you can use it on your notebook but it will run with SATA I access speed.

Upgrade SATA I HDD and you will be happy with it.

I see that the new P300 have the ability to load up to 8gb of ram....
Does this apply also to my P300-133 as i use Vistax64?

Thank you very much!!!

Answer:Can I upgrade the RAM to 8GB on Satellite P300-133

Hmmm?. I don?t think that you will be able to install and to use 8GB RAM.
As far as I know the notebook?s RAM can be upgraded up to 4GB (2 x 2GB)

I think the same info could you find in the user manual.

Hello everybody.
I've got an old fashioned 480 CDT here, used, but still works fine. Runs Win98 fine so far.

The Problem: The machine urgently needs re-installation, but I've got no disks for the Toshiba specific tools (i.e. HWSETUP etc.) which came originally with the laptop. (But a Win98 CD I do have!) Seems that they've been lost along its long way.

I didn't find a possibility to download these tools from the Toshiba support pages. Maybe I'm too blind so somebody can give me a link where to download the Toshiba Tools?

Where can I find these tools? (I did find the Archive section, but there these tools aren't listed :-(

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Where I could find Toshiba tools for my Satellite Pro 480 CDT

I looked on the toshiba sites after your problem and you could go to
in the menu Support & Download - Driver Download you could find a site to download drivers.

In the first drop down menu you have to choose ARCHIVE there is your laptop.

But there is only the Advanced Power Mode for W98 and BIOS update downloadable

it seems that the Satellite Pro 480 was only delievered with Win95.

It'll hope this will help you

so I've had my Satellite P300-172 for a while now, Windows Vista has allways done my head in, and now I THINK my warrenty has ran out, I feel its time to upgrade to Windows 7, the other reason im wanting to upgrade is because vista fails to search for updates keeps saying, an error occured while checking for new updates for your computer Code 80072EFD

Can some give me any advice into wether im going to be better upgrading to Windows 7 or doing a clean retail install of it plz?

Personally, I prefer to make a clean installation than any kind of upgrade. If you decide to make a Windows 7 installation, check for the drivers on Toshiba driver page.

I have a Satellite Pro P300-266 PSPCDE and I am quite content with it.

Since I have a WIN7 64 bit OS ready for use, and 8GB RAM I need to upgrade the BIOS to 64-bit.

I have found a WinPhlash file on the Toshiba support site ( called I have been trying to use this as discribed at the Toshiba support page about using WinPhlash ( Also I made an exception for WinPhlash in the DEP registry.

Still it will not work.

Since I am a user with very mediocre knowledge of modern computers I suppose I am doing something wrong or I may be overseeing something... can somebody please help me upgrading my system to its full capabilities?

Answer:Satellite P300-19Q - Processor Upgrade

CPU upgrade is not supported from Toshiba so everything happens on your own risk. I assume nobody has tested such quad core CPUs on P300 so it?s risky upgrade in my opinion and I wouldn?t do this. I doubt the cooling system, mainboard and BIOS is also designed for such high performance quad core CPUs?

Do you really need a quad core? The Intel P8400 is still pretty fast CPU and should enough for all applications. :)

Hello Thomas

Your notebook has an Intel Dual Core T3400 processor and 667Mhz FSB and 1MB cache only. And you are in Vista 32 bit. Your DDRII RAM is of 800 MHz. All this does not allow you to speed up your system.

If you want to upgrade to speed up your system, you need:
- Either change your processor by a more powerful dual-core (1066 MHz FSB as P300-20E eg with a 3MB cache).
- Or place your system on a 250 GB SSD drive (I recommend the Samsung 850 EVO 250 Gb), the migration of your HDD to the SSD software is included in the Samsung box). Modified the price is less than € 100.

I think for a beginner computer the most effective solution is the latter, especially since it is not easy to find a P8600 processor to replace your T3400.

Take the opportunity to buy a dry air bomb to remove the dust from the ventilation of your laptop.

Good luck and good Christmas holidays.

I want my P300 upgrade to windows 8. Is this possible, and easy to do ?

Thank you.

Answer:Windows 8 upgrade on Satellite P300 - possible?

Yes, it is possible to install Win 8 but since the Satellite P300 is not a part of the Win8 supported notebook models, you will not find Win 8 drivers.
You will have to search and collect such drivers at your own hand?
So this can be a little bit problem but its definitely possible to use Win 8

Can I instead upgrade it or get another card?

GPU upgrade is not supported so either you exchange the card or you must search whole mainboard.

Of course, there you will find stuff for supported OS version only.

Hi everyone,
I own Satellite Pro M50, listed as discontinued model on Toshiba's official site - drivers and tools provided by Toshiba are only for XP, and several ones for Vista.

I installed Windows 7 32bit and I'm very pleased with speed of the computer now. Windows 7 was able to detect my devices (display, usb, wifi, lan) and updated drivers successfully. Everything seems to work OK by now.

Problem is with Toshiba tools.
MasterG (to whom I'm already very thankful, but I didn't find a way how to address him directly) has advised other user with older model (M100-221) to use VAP and Flash Card Support Utility for L500 series.
(for details : <a href="" target="_newWindow" class="jive-link-external"></a>)<br />
I tried it, and the Flash Card Support utility worked. Now I can use the Fn-key.

There are also some Toshiba features I would like to run: Power Saver, TouchPad utility, and so on. How could I find out which model has tools that could work as a substitute for my one or was it only coincidence that it worked?

Thanks a lot in advance, and greetings to whole toshiba community, I'm really delighted with this support forums.

Answer:Satellite Pro M50 - Comaptible Toshiba tools for WIndows 7

Hi bevo,

It?s nice to hear that you managed Windows 7 installation successful on your Satellite Pro M50 and you also like the forum as me. :)

What tools you want exactly?
There are some differences between XP and Windows 7 tools. For example Power Saver is already a part of Value Added Package and you can find the power saver settings in Windows Power Management of Windows.

The touchpad utility you can download from other notebooks. As far as I know Synaptics and Alps Electric driver should work on every model but you must test it, I don?t have Satellite Pro M50.

Furthermore such a list of compatible tools is not known to me. Just try it.
Important is that you install Windows 7 versions or at least for Vista. I think XP tools don?t work.

Good luck! :)

I have a Satellite Pro P300 and was wondering whether the CPU or Graphic card can be upgraded?

I really like my laptop but an upgrade is looming and before I take the plunge I just want to see if there any options other than a new laptop.

Answer:Satellite Pro P300 - Upgrade of graphic card and CPU

CPU and graphic card upgrade is not supported and there is no list with compatible CPUs. So everything happens on your own risk. In worst case a new CPU will not recognized from mainboard or BIOS, probably you need a new cooling module too so I wouldn?t do this?

Furthermore the graphic card is fixed on mainboard and cannot be exchanged.

My Satellite P300-133 laptop was delivered with a WiFi card Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG.
There is ease access to the PC card.

I acquired a new wireless router fit for N standard.
It is working fine with the existing laptop card under G standard.
New Satellite P300 models are for H standard.

I like to know if there is a card for Satellite P300-133 that I can use to replace the original laptop card with one matching also the N standard.

Answer:Satellite P300-133 WiFi card - upgrade to N

There are some WLan cards which support the 802.11 Draft N but as far as I know the draft N needs 3 wires WLan antenna.

The other WLan standards like 802.11 A B or G needs 2 wires antenna and I presume the notebook has been supplied with the 2 wire antenna and therefore the Draft N will not work in your notebook.

However, you could try some external WLan cards which would support the Draft N

I own a sattelite P300-1AE number PSPCCE-00K003BT.
The product specifications about the memory from this notebook are:
Standard: 4,096 (2,048 + 2,048) MB
Max to: 8,192 MB
Technology: DDR2 RAM (800 MHz)

I got the following problem:
I am not able to find the specifications to upgrade my memory from 4GB to 8GB.
I did download some programs from +Crucial+ for example, they said the follow:
My max memory is 4GB
Current installed 4GB
Available slots: N.A.
DDR PC2-6400
("our system scanner couldn't make a complete match")

On every single site I go for buying memory to upgrade like kingston or crucial, ... I can't find my laptop P300-1AE between the other toshiba's, I also can't chose a more general option for the P300's.

Also on the toshiba site I found after a long search: 4GB Memory PC2 DDR2 (800MHz) , but then again... the P300 or more specific my P300-1AE is not in the compatible models list.

So at this point I got very confused which memory I need to buy to upgrade to a total of 8GB RAM... I don't want to waste money on buying the wrong ones...
I even started thinking I might have more than 2 bank slots for memory in my laptop? I started up my BIOS and all it said was "total memory: 4,096Mb" , so this didn't help me out either...

So concrete...
Do I need to replace 2x 2 GB cards (currently installed) to 2 x 4GB cards? or do I need to buy 2x other 2GB and place in 2 other still empty slots? Or do I only have 2 slots?

Answer:Satellite P300-1AE - specifications for memory upgrade

Ok, I just found out that I have 2 bank slots for memory by using the command: "+wmic MEMORYCHIP get banklabel, devicelocator, caption, capacity+"

But I am still confused about the maximum capacity and which specific memory i need to use. says I can max have 4GB, another program called SIW gives this message: "Maximum memory module size [Unknown] , Warning: Wrong values reported by BIOS"

Than again, my BIOS did not show my max capacity (or bank slots), and yes I have the latest update of my BIOS.

So... When I bought my laptop the productspecifications said I can upgrade to max 8GB and I am able to install 64-bit system. So that's why I'm so confused about my maximum capacity.

I'm sorry if I sound very newby, but actually I am very newby when it comes down to computers :)

Is anyone friendly enough to help me out? I would really appriciate! :D

Answer:Can I upgrade the CPU on Satellite P300-156 to T8100 or T8300

Check the CPU type of other P300 models (that use the same Chipset), and use one of those CPU's.

If you use a CPU that was not designed with the P300, it may overheat and shut off the laptop intermittently. Or it simply may not boot due to Power Requirements or BIOS Compatibility or FSB/Memory Speed issues.

Where do I start, planned to upgrade , brand new machine to Vista Business as I need to connect to domain - Vista home prem (OEM) is no good.

Checked with tech support who advised me to download drivers from the site which i did (why are they not supplied with the machine?)

Upgraded system, tried to install ATI driver it fails ! (notice this driver has been removed from the site). Password Utility fails (reporting wrong serial no), sd utility fails (reporting wrong serial no). Value added packages fails to install all components, specifically (TOSHIBA components common driver, and TOSHIBA Flash cards).

Tried tech support, who advised to upgrade bios, however that also failed!

*So now have amachine that will not read flash cards, no function keys work, and the toshiba diagnotic tool does not work.*

Apparently this has now been escalated, but have to say, it very disapointing that there are not clear instructions on this process, as I presume there will be many users who wish to upgrade the same path as I am trying to do.

Any advice or help in the meatime would be greatfully appreciated !

Answer:Satellite P200-17C - Windows 7 and Toshiba Tools & Utilities

Hello Dave

I believe you that some tools or utilities work well but it is nothing but luck.

All tools and utilities must be prepared and tested for new operating system. When you download VAP there is must be chosen OS and you can download it for Vista only. So if some tool works is nice but if not there is nothing you can do. Just to wait, like me and many other people who have installed Windows 7 for testing purposes.

I have a Satellite P300, model PSPCCA-01W073 (sold in Australia). Machine is fitted with two 320GB HDD. Yep, that is 640GB all up. I have upgraded OS to Windows 7 and I dual boot in to Linux Ubuntu.

My work involves editing/processing large media files and my HDDs are maxed out so I at the moment I am forced to swap large files back and fourth with various USB Hard disks. If I can replace the existing drives with much larger models then I will go ahead and do it. ..But at this point I am out of my depth!

I have asked Toshiba support if P300 will support bigger drives but they will not commit to any answers outside the original specs'. They did suggest that I should try Toshiba Users forum for more help.

Could some kind person tell me if it is possible to run disks over 320GB and up to what size. Also, I believe that the existing drives are 5400rpm. My local computer parts and bits online shop lists a choice between Hitachi, WD, Seagate and Samsung with sizes:

(2.5"/ 5400rpm) 320GB, 500GB, 750GB and 1TB as well as sizes: (2.5"/ 7200rpm) 500GB, 640GB and 750GB.

So my second question; is there any advantage or disadvantage to go for the higher speed of 7200rpm.

TIA, your help should prevent me making yet another expensive blunder.

Answer:Satellite P300 - Upgrade to larger HDDs and 7200rpm?

Theoretically bigger HDDs should be supported and there should not be an big problem to use such HDD since the SATA controller is not limited to any size.

Also the usage of faster HDD 7200rpm should not affect the notebook performance even if such faster HDD produce more warmness?

In my opinion you can upgrade the HDD to a bigger and faster one?

this is what I want to do, so... please help!

I just buy myself new TOSHIBA SATELLITE X200-21K notebook, and I want to format it, and... to install Windows Vista Ultimate (Not Windows Vista Home Premium from Product Recovery DVD-ROM).

I was downloaded all drivers from...

... but I can't find "Installation Instructions" to download anywhere, so I can install it in right order, unless... if "Please click here to download manuals." is the "Installation Instructions", if not... please... where can I download that instructions!?

So... after I do this format and install new Vista Ultimate, I will not have... original TOSHIBA Tools which arrived with Product Recovery DVD-ROM, do I actually loose something with that, like... soft for Web Cam or TOSHIBA Assist or TOSHIBA Zooming Utility or Protector Suite QL.. and so on... can I go without that?

Can I install or download just this soft from elsewhere, after I install Vista Ultimat, maybe from Product Recovery DVD-ROM, but how?

Is it just Windows Vista Home Premium version that come
with this Product Recovery DVD-ROM, or... all version of Vista comes in this DVD, and You could pick which version You want to install?

I hope someone will help me with my "problem"!?

Thank You so much!

Hello everybody,

I have purchased a pre-order of Windows 7 Professional for my laptop and would like to upgrade it from Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it at the moment.

However, I just have one question :

- Do you think I will be able to upgrade from Windows Vista Home to Windows 7 Professional without a full install ?
- Else, if I have to perform a full install, then is it possible to install the Toshiba tools and utilities from the CD (I have not found anything to do this) ?

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite P100-488 - Installing Toshiba tools and utilities on Windows 7

Hi Fred

As I can see you have two questions. ;)

At first I must say that I don't believe anybody here will be able to offer exact answers but here is my opinion:

Q1 ? for OS installation I prefer full installation but I think you will be able to make Win7 upgrade. Problem is how the Toshiba tools and utilities will work after this upgrade. As far as I know in the past Toshiba has suggested removing some tools and utilities before upgrade installation starts.
So maybe you should think about full OS installation. I think it is better solution for you.

Q2 ? I the whole story I see one problem ? what if Toshiba will not offer Win7 support for your notebook model? Then you will have problem and just try to use Vista stuff in hope it will works with Win7 too. Anyway, in this forum you can find many postings where people confirm that most of Vista stuff runs well with Win7.

Good luck Fred.

I had to format my laptop last night due to a nasty virus.
I have re-installed vista using the recovery cd and have installed all the windows updates that were available.

What about the updates that come from Toshiba? Are they downloaded as part of the windows update or do i have to download them seperately from the Toshiba support pages?

Also how do i know which ones are most important?

If yes, you don?t need to update any tools!

I just got my netbook from service with a new hdd on it. of course no OS on it. On a fresh Windows 7ultimate x64 I have updated BIOS to the version posted here for my kind of netbook. all good now everything its working properly except.

eco utility for power saver application is no longer able to run " incopatible BIOS version"

FN keys arent all of them working (only mute and enable/disable touch pad) and I wasnt able to find the driver (or app) for Windows x64 only for XP. Antiviurs provided from toshiba is worknig on home premium x64 and on ultimatex64 isnt :|( i will not revert to home premium). The lan-driver installed from this site isnt working properly (wireless wasnt able to connect after installing it least on mine)
Those are the issues I've found unitl now.

Do you have any ideea where i can find eco utility app working for bios v 2.40 or/and the driver for FN keys (windows 7 x64) (the other Toshiba apps i`m not interested in)

I am working with a Tecra A9 PTS52E laptop which had WinXP running on it.
I recently upgraded to Win7, but not from a Toshiba install disk.

I found a number (not all) drivers for tecra a9/win7 online;
but some things still don't seem to be working correctly.

first of all, I installed the Value Added Package 20100419152838,
but OSD and the Toshiba power manager don't work. Instead win7 keeps telling me my battery is broken (?) Is there a way this can be fixed?

I also had trouble finding Toshiba Disk Creator, and I couldn't make Toshiba Security Assist work properly...

Answer:Several tools/utilities don't work after Win7 upgrade

If I understand you right you have made clean Win7 installation using original Microsoft installation disc. Can you confirm this?

I must also say that all stuff must be installed in right order. I don?t know how you have done this but I hope most of preinstalled things work properly.
VAP. What is OSD and what is wrong with battery? Is battery not recognized properly?

Toshiba Disc creator is additional software offered with original recovery image only and it is not available for download?

I know what ?Toshiba Assist? is but can you please tell me what ?Toshiba Security Assist?is?

After performing a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium, then downloading the necessary drivers from the Toshiba support website there are issues with the DVD player in my laptop.

I downloaded the Toshiba DVD Player application, which auto detects which version you need. After allowing the application to run, I get the message "No Toshiba DVD installation could be found! You can only update an already installed version."

How do I get the DVD player to be recognised, so the application will install. Currently the DVD player will not play DVDs - which will be an issue for my daughter who is using the laptop.

Also, the Windows 7 driver page mentions updates will be available through Toshiba Service Station, but provides no link. A search of the Toshiba website fails to locate it, where do I get this utility from?

Answer:Satellite Pro P300 - PSPCDA-01L00D - DVD not found after Windows 7 upgrade

What you found on Toshiba download page is just update and not full version.

If you want to have really good player install VLC player. It is for free and you can find it Googling around. This player reads all video formats and I use it for a long time.

It reads DVDs without any problem.

Test it. If you don?t like it you can remove it from he system.

Hello All,

Just bought Toshiba Model: Circuit City. I see that the Google Toolbar is already installed. Probably installed by Circuit City and not Toshiba. Has anyone tried to uninstall this bloatware?

I have not yet tried uninstall. I can only think that this would not be a simple uninstall thru the Windows uninstall program.

Has anyone had experience doing the removal? Also,
Are there any other preinstalled programs that could slow down the notebooks resources... that should be unstalled?

Thanks everyone for your help.

Hello everyone,

recently switched to Windows Vista with my Satellite M30X.
Unfortunately I cannot manage my power options, because Windows doesn't let me to do so with reference to using original Toshiba power tools instead, but those I received along with my laptop are not compatible with Vista.
There are no files available in this category on Toshiba download site.

Do you have any ideas where to get these tools? Either Toshiba or something different, but still compatible with Toshiba and Vista?
Or at least how to enable inbuilt advanced power management options in Windows?

Thanks a lot for any advice!

Answer:Need Toshiba power management tools for Windows Vista on Satellite M30X

The Toshiba Power saver for Vista was not released for Satellite M30X and it looks like you have to use the Vista own power options.
But to be honest the Vista own power options are not bad and could be configured easily.

I have just purchased the Toshiba Satellie P200-17C Notebook and I have one or two questions which I hope can be answered in this forum? aShop=true

1. Under 'bundled software' at the link above, it states that the "Toshiba Value Added Package" is included but I do not see this CD/DVD in the box. (My Equium L10 had a Value Added CD in the box).

Toshiba User's Manual
Norton Internet Security 2007 (includes free Internet updates for 90 days)
Ulead DVD MovieWriter for TOSHIBA

The Toshiba value added package is a collection of different single Toshiba applications like TOSHIBA Components Common Driver, TOSHIBA Power Saver, TOSHIBA Password Utility, TOSHIBA Flash Cards, etc?

All this applications are already installed on the Toshiba image which is placed on the Toshiba recovery CD.

>Microsoft Windows HotStart for instant-on entertainment
As far as I know Windows Hotstart in the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system provides built-in support for launching applications directly from system startup.
Manufacturers can take advantage of Windows HotStart to add consumer-friendly application-access buttons through chassis front panels.
In your case this are the Toshiba control buttons for example.

>What CD/DVD writing software is included?

There should be an preinstalled tool called Toshiba Disc creator.
Using this too you can create original audio CD, data CD and DVD and backup discs of CD and DVD

Hope I have clarified everything

I upgraded my Satellite P300 from Vista to Windows 7 professional. Initially everything worked fine, now for some reason the inbuilt microphone and the speakers do not work. I subsequently found that none of my 'Quick Start' buttons work, ie I cannot turn them ON or OFF, so perhaps the quick start Mute button is OFF, hence no sound. A computer check of the Microphone and the Speakers confirm that they are working so I guess the Mute button is On, no sound.

Is there any way I can get the Quick Start buttons to work again or turn the mute button OFF so that I can get sound. The funny thing is the speakers work if I use Skype, but I cannot play a CD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite P300 - Quick launch buttons don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

Is the sound card driver installed? Have a look in Device Manager for any unresolved devices.

To get the Fn keys and other features working, you need to install the Toshiba Value Added Package designed for Windows 7 and Satellite P300. Installing a TVAP designed for Vista can cause problems like this.

You can get TVAP from the Toshiba website, in the support section. While you are there, download the Sound Driver as well.

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook: => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

My company sold a Satellite Pro R-50B to a client.
This laptop has windows 8.1 pro.
The selling was done with the option to downgrade from windows 8.1 pro to windows 7 pro.
The client needs the windows 7 because the 8.1 does not work with other software he have at his company.
Now my questions is:
-Where is the option to downgrade? How can I do it?

I have tried the "recover from hidden partition" but he still gives me one option: windows 8.1.
The recover cd's = windows 8.1 pro

Any help?

So basically i have a Satellite C660, and it came loaded with a iso on drive D. So whenever i need to clean my system i can just use the iso from drive d and it will be like new again. However i hate all this toshiba bloatware it installs and all other stupid stuff, so i was wondering if i got a windows 7 disk, and like booted the laptop up from the disk, and installed windows 7 from it without all the stupid stuff, would everything still work as normal? or what?

Answer:Satellite C660 - Can I use own Win7 without Toshiba bloatware?

Generally speaking you can do with your notebook whatever you want and nobody force you to use preinstalled stuff. You can install own Win7 version and if you install all necessary drivers it will works without any problems.

Please note: for this own Win7 version you must have valid licence for product activation and before you start installation create recovery DVD for recovery image back-up. After your Win7 installation you will not be able to start recovery image installation from HDD.

What I do, and can also recommend to you and all other people, is preinstalled OS optimization. Use original Win7 but remove all stuff you don?t need. After doing this you will have original, activated OS that will run much faster and without some ?useless? stuff.

As for the 'program' that changes your fan speed (rpm), click on the battery icon on the taskbar (i.e. near the clock in the bottom right hand corner), and select More power options, then 'Change plan settings' for the current plan you have selected, then click 'Change advanced power settings'. in the window that pops up, you should see TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings. Expand this option (i.e. Cooling Method) and to reduce or increase the fan speed select either Battery Optimized or Maximum Performance.

That should help you with your matter.

Satellite L50-c-215 is a laptop sold without optical drive nor OS.

We bought it today.
Issues :
-we were told it "is compatible with windows 7" but from what seller told, everything could be downloaded from Toshiba's website
-while watching Toshiba website, a link says "no operating system inside". Link is corrupted
-2"official" support companies are listed for Bulgarian Toshiba website are wrong : people says on phone they are not official Toshiba support

Technical issues :
-I tried to put several Windows 7 ISO on a USB, using both Rufus and official tool from Microsoft, but I got error that says "Driver for CD/DVD is missing".
-In some forums, it is told that testing the trick wit a USB 2.0 can solve if USB 3.0 fails. Every USB failed.

Commercial issue :
-Even if European trade law says people have a small delay to give a non-working product back and be reinbursed, when we returned the computer to Technopolis shop few hours after buying, employees told us "Problem is not hardware : we don't cancel the sale, we can't retake the computer and give your money back. Problem is software : see with Toshiba".
The best we could obtain was adress of a non-Toshiba computer service to try to ask if they could be able to install Windows 7

I have already spent half of a day working on it
What can we do to either install Windows 7 or get the computer returned and refunded?

Answer:How to recover my Toshiba Satellite L850 Win7 laptop

Could you please tell me what notebook model do you have exactly?
Did you change the Windows system in the past?

Regarding the system installation:
Toshiba notebooks are preinstalled with a Toshiba image and usually you can recover the notebook back to factory settings using the HDD recovery option or you can use the Toshiba recovery medium which you could create using the preinstalled tool called Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.

This software allows you to create a recovery disk or recovery flash memory stick.
In your case it would be advisable to create a flash memory stick because the notebook was not equipped with a CD/DVD drive.

I would recommend you to check the following Toshiba documents about the system recovery procedure:

How to recover a Toshiba notebook or tablet device with the HDD recovery procedure

How to use the TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator

as i understand the toshiba common module and toshiba value added logical device are the same thing . and i tried to google both of them to download it for my Satellite A200-211 which runs on windows 7 ultimate 64 bits , but i CAN NOT find it at all .

Can any one help to get it ? thanks

Answer:Satellite A200-211 - toshiba common module for Win7

>toshiba common module and toshiba value added logical device are the same thing

No, The common modules are designed for Win XP only and this software is used by other Toshiba software and tools? so in many cases the Common Modules needs to be installed in order to get other Toshiba software working using Win XP OS.

The VAP (Value added package) is released for Win 7 and Vista.
It controls the FN buttons and Multimedia buttons and adds a Toshiba extension to Win 7 power management.

If you use Win 7 then you have to install VAP.
Check VAP Win 7 64bit which is released for other Toshiba notebook series like L500, A660 or newer notebook models

I installed Windows 7 Professional on my system and all is great but now I am not able to install Toshiba PC Health monitor anymore as I liked it a lot. I did all I could but all the time during installation I get the message "installation failed". So when I restart I have the software running and the symbol in the task bar but it shows no results.
I tried it in running in XP and Vista mode but the same.

Any ideas
