Preferred Solution: Qosmio X500-10W - How uninstall Toshiba Flash Cards?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Qosmio X500-10W - How uninstall Toshiba Flash Cards?

If you uninstall Flashcards, the Function (Fn) Keys may not work anymore.

But anyway if you really need to uninstall it, go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, and Modify the Toshiba Value Added Package features.

I just installed vap-20080108132320, and now Toshiba Flash Cards won't load. I get the following error in my Application log:

Faulting application TCrdMain.exe, version, time stamp 0x470dae48, faulting module TCrdMain.exe, version, time stamp 0x470dae48, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00011299, process id 0x14f0, application start time 0x01c85521e7cfc470.

I also would like to know how NOT to get localized installations. I got English Windows Vista, but the VAP installs as a localized version, in my case Norwegian, and I don't want that!

?:| ?. The Toshiba drivers and all the tools can be downloaded from the Toshiba European driver page:

There you can choose the notebooks series and the language.

Regarding the installation issue;
Possibly you have chosen the wrong utility version or for wrong series. Please note that the common modules are necessary and must be installed firstly.

anyone tried to install Windows Seven ? I tried it.
Everything works fine (Wlan, Lan, Sound, etc), but one thing is unable to work on my laptop: Toshiba Flash Cards.
I installed driver and nothing happened...

Any idea to solve this problem? Because I usually used it in Vista.

Thanks and sorry for my english ;-)

Answer:Qosmio F50-108 - Toshiba Flash Cards does not work with Windows 7

The Toshiba Flash Cards has been designed for the Windows Vista only

The Windows 7 is very similar to the Vista and many drivers could and would run with Windows 7 but in very rare cases some tools would be not fully compatible?

The Toshiba Flash Cards is not a driver; it?s a utility which seems to be not compatible with Windows 7?

I have already followed instructions that I have found on the forum. Uninstalled TVAP. The FCSU is a separate program and does not want to uninstall through the Control Panel Uninstall procedure. I have downloaded a new FCSU file and it does not want to install and I get a message that the program already exisist and that there is an incompatibility problem.

The reason I want to perform this task is that my function keys Fn do not work.
Can you help, please?

Answer:Impossible to uninstall Toshiba Flash Cards Support Utility

Can you please tell us which notebook model do you have, which OS you want to use and so on?
When you write about TVAP I presume you use Win7.

Do you want to install clean Win7 version?

Hello everyone! I've been having an issue that has been killing me for the past one and a half year now. I'm literally on the edge I'm desperate and I don't know what else to do. I own a 5-year-old Toshiba QOSMIO X500-12N (part no: PQX33E - 03R01VG5). It was working fine for 3.5 years and all of a sudden it started shutting down unexpectedly, like TOTALLY RANDOM restarts. At the beginning I thought it might be overheating issues, because it was just shutting down. So I cleaned it up, nothing different, kept shutting down. After a while I decided that I should send it to Toshiba to tell me what's going on. They said they had to replace the fans and the heat sink as well as the hard drives. I paid about 500 dollars for those changes but the computer was still restarting for no freaking reason. I tried to check if it was the RAM, so I replaced the RAM, still restarting. So all that's left I guess is the GPU or the motherboard, and I don't think those 2 are worth changing at all, so I wanted to ask here, what the hell might be wrong? It's not the NVIDIA Drivers, I updated them a bunch of times and saw no difference at all, nor the laptop being dirty, I cleaned it up so many times even changed the thermal paste. Something also to keep in mind is that if I dare install Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 on it this problem gets 100 times worse, it restarts the second I start to watch a stream or a video, or just staying there on the desktop for 10 - 20 minutes. It doesn't happen just when gam... Read more

I returned it to Toshiba here in Adelaide but as every Tech nows "random faults NEVER appear on the work Bench ( I have been a techie for 40 years ),

The video card might have come loose. The only problem is, you'd have to disassemble most of the laptop to get to the GTX 460M card.

Also, the heatsink compound Toshiba used might be getting brittle due to the heat the card puts out.

I had a few problems with my Qosmio X500-148 not long after purchase resulting in the hard drives being erased and software reinstalled. The DVD play operates ok but I can't get the Blu-ray to work. When I insert a Blu-ray disc I get a message "Toshiba DVD launcher cannot detect TOSHIBA DVD PLAYER". I assume I need to download and reinstall Blu-ray software but can't seem to locate this or any other solution anywhere.

Any helpful suggestions to solve the issue would be most welcome.

Hi jsgskydive,

The Toshiba DVD player software you can download on official Toshiba website: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Notebook > Qosmio > Qosmio X Series > Qosmio X500

Then search for X500 model and you can find DVD Player to download.

I've been having some problems with random BSODs on my laptop.
The laptop itself is fairly new, bought in March this year, really good model but refently I started having problems.

One day I closed the laptop and thinking it went into sleep mode but a few hours later when I opened it a BSOD stared me in the face, the processor part was pretty hot so I immediately restarted it to lower the temperature, but I remember that the BSOD had something about "Kernel Power" written on it.

It happend 3-4 times since then, the third time it happened I enabled minidump logging so now I also have the log from the last time it happened, can anyone take a look at it and tell me what is going on and how to fix it??

I still have a guarantee on this baby so I can get it fixed for free if it's a hardware issue, still I have some important work to do this week (already almost lost a crucial project file on this) so I want to try and fix it myself for now, until I get this project done.

The BSOD can be caused by software of hardware issue.
You can check if new OS installation would solve this? if it?s software issue then a fresh OS installation is the right workaround. Before starting a OS installation, backup the data ;)

But of course the issue could be related to hardware; for example high temperature.
You said that you have noticed higher temperature while happening.
So maybe the memory modules are affected by higher temperature and this leads to BSOD. In most cases clogged fans are reason for that. Check if dust and debris needs to be removed? you can remove dust using compressed air spray.

But if this does not help, I would recommend checking the hardware under warranty conditions?

My toshiba qosmio x500-128 is taking forever to boot up these days, iver rolled back the system using system restore, ive stopped any unessential startup services that i know are not req at startup but the system still takes forever to boot, ive also updated to the latest BIOS etc

Another thing is that everytime i login i get the error that Toshiba Service station has stopped working...

any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer:Qosmio X500-128, taking forever to boot also Toshiba service station error

Toshiba Service Station is a simple tool/software.
If this has stopped working, then you should try to reinstall this again.
For that visit the Toshiba European driver page and download this tool for your notebook model.

Regarding slow boot;
I?m not quite sure what?s wrong here?
Maybe you should firstly check the HDD? for that you can use the free software called Drive Fitness Test.
You said you have checked all background processes?
You can try the CCleaner too.
The cleaner cleans the registry and you can edit the msconfig and autostartup too using this tool.

Answer:[SOLVED] Random BSOD - Toshiba Qosmio X500 13R (Windows 7 Home Premium x64) have mini

Hi jovana,

The only thing out of the ordinary is the following from this specific bluescreen:

adfs.SYS Thu Jun 26 21:52:37 2008 (48640195)

This driver belongs to an Adobe application. Please run Windows update and update your adobe applications to the newest version available.

The full error code of this specific BSOD is:
A wait operation, attach process, or yield was attempted from a DPC routine.
This is an illegal operation and the stack track will lead to the offending
code and original DPC routine.

Caused by the ntkrnlmp.exe. This leads me to the conclusion of faulty system files. I would recommend you to do the following:

Go to Start > Search > type "Cmd" > rightclick > Run as administrator.
Type "sfc /scannow" > Hit ENTER.
Repair any faults that are found.

If you need further assistance, please follow the proper BSOD instructions found here and attach all the files created/information given to your next post.

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I recently just rebooted my Satellite A200-195.

I found that my flash cards for my ?FN? hotkey function buttons have disappeared and do not pop up on top of the screen anymore.
However I am able to press the other function buttons on the keypad F1 - F8, part from the one that enables the mouse?F9?.

I have already uninstalled and installed the Value Added Package, Flash support utility and even tried to update the Bios but it seems my Bio is already the newest version.
After all this I seem to be able to enable my mouse pad ?F9? but my other function buttons are not working anymore and the flash cards still are not appearing like they use to.
Is there anything I can do to get my flash card to pop up back on screen without having to set my laptop back to factory default?

Answer:Satellite A200-195: TOSHIBA Flash Cards "black and white cards" not working

Have you tried to restart Flash cards?

What you can also try is to install ?Flash cards support utility? if you can find it on Toshiba download page.

Hi all

Well this is my first time ever owning a Toshiba laptop computer. I have owned Asus over the years which have lasted for over 3 years, but I thought it was time for a change. Additionally, when Harvey Norman announced 40% off all Toshiba laptops this was a rare opportunity to grab a bargain - literally. I looked at a couple of cheaper Toshiba laptops, but with the 40% discount, decided to go for almost the top model - Qosmio X500/04N PQX33A-04N00J. With its high end specs and plenty of power and dual hard disks and massive 18.5" 1920x1080 Full HD Display this was the best value laptop available. The rest of the specifications were a bonus.

The only thing that concerned me was that this model has 6MB L3 Cache, not 8MB and the GPU is the Nvidia 360M, instead of the 460M, but then again I won't be playing games on this system but will play BluRay movies. I may use high end Adobe applications like CS5 etc, but would I really truly notice any difference in every day use compared to the other model Qosmio X500/06C PQX33A-06C02C? As for the Laptop itself, it has more features than I could have ever imagined in a laptop, mainly dual hard disks, and the backlit keyboard which is a very rare feature to find these days and should be more commonplace.

Considering this normally retails for about $3,199 and I paid just on $1,600 for it, the extra $400 for the higher model could have been a waste.

Answer:Qosmio X500/04N PQX33A-04N00J - Difference to other X500 model

Hey Rodney,

Yes, the Qosmio X500 has really high-end specifications and it?s the top model I think. Very fast hardware and you have a lot of power for all multimedia applications.

Well, if you don?t play games you will not notice a difference between nVidia 360M and 460M graphic card. Even the 360M is very good for games and it?s still high performance graphic card.
Also the difference between 6MB and 8MB L3 Cache you will not notice. Maybe some benchmark programs show you a difference but in reality there is no difference in my opinion.

For Windows, Photoshop and blu-ray movies the specifications are great and everything will run perfect. So you can have a lot of fun with your new X500! :)

Hi, essejyar, and welcome to the forums.

Can you give us a picture of the *exact* error message, or else write down what it is saying exactly?

As far as multiple user environment, sorry, XP and Vista are both built on the NT kernel (and advances made to said kernel) which means they support multiple users by default. There are a couple of things you can do to make it less intrusive, like automating your login and such, and you can make it easier to use, like disabling UAC, but to protect you from your own self, I'd not recommend these at all.

I am a 20+ year veteran of using computers and I leave UAC on - because then I don't have to run Ad-aware and Spybot and Malwarebytes and Spywareguard and lock down my hosts file and all those other fun things you needed on XP to keep it relatively safe from intrusion and malware....

Hi there.
Like to first off apologise if this is the wrong place to post this topic, but put it down to been new here and the fact that at this point I'm tearing my hair out!!!...
Just recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427, which runs Vista Premium, and in the main I'm pretty pleased with it.
No major least none that don't resolve themselves eventually.
This was however not until I noticed that my Toshiba Flash Card, which host the hot keys and some computer functions and which should drop down only when you point your cursor at the top of the screen, developed a mind all of its own and from time to time decided to make an unsolicited apperance and drop down without been prompted!
As it usually happens when I have just finished clicking on something or touched my mouse, I thought it might have something to do with the external optical mouse I was using so off I went to buy another one but of course the darn thing still does the same thing with the new mouse.
I have found a way to disable the flash cards, but I would rather be able to make use of them rather than turning the fuction off completely because of the annoying 'drop down'.
Someone mentioned to me that it may be a conflict between a program I've installed since getting the computer and the flash card program, but as itunes is the only major add-on I have installed, I wonder!?!...
Could this be another classic case of vista gone bad, or is there something else?

I have exhausted suggestions on the internet trying to solve this issue.

The Function key does not bring up flash cards. If I use the mouse, they work fine, and I can use the function key to take a screenshot, but it doesn't work for backlights, mute, brightness etc.

I have just fully rebuilt the PC from scratch because of what I think was a HD problem. It may have been the 6 year old Windows installation, but the old D: drive is now the C: drive and everything else is working fine.

I have installed Value Added Pack, Toshibe Function Keys, and Flash Cards, and all the software is there and running as expected, just not with the function key.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Answer:Qosmio X300 - Vista 64 - Flash cards don't work properly

The Toshiba European driver page provides the Flash Cards Support Utility and for Win Vista 64bit.

Usually the Flash Cards should work properly after new reinstallation.
Maybe there are some wrong registry entries which should be clean.

You can clean the registry using the CCleaner.
So I recommend this workaround:

First of all remove the VAP and Flash Cards Support Utility.
Then reboot the notebook.
Then clean the OS and the registry using the CCLeaner. (do it several times)
Then reboot the notebook.
Then install firstly the VAP and then Flash Cards Support Utility

Good luck

I'm considering buying a Qosmio X500 and I've noticed that the only 2 models listed on this site are the 148 and 149. Currys, Dixons, PC World etc are all selling a X500-13P model which seems to be very similar to the 148? What's the difference between these models? The 13P is about ?500 cheaper so I'm wondering what the 148 model has that makes it so much more expensive?

Answer:Difference between Qosmio X500-13P and X500-148?

I have a little bit searched using Google to find the specification of both models and it seems they are very similar.
Both models have Core i7 740-QM CPU, 8GB RAM, GeForce GTS 360M graphic card and Windows 7 Home Premium.

I didn?t saw any difference and they have the same part number (PQX33E) but maybe I have overlook something?

Maybe it also depends on the country. Notebooks are also country specific and not every model is available in every country?

Answer:Toshiba flash cards don't response

I assume you are an owner of the notebook with the Vista OS. The Toshiba Flash card is preinstalled software which controls visually the FN buttons.

The Toshiba flash cards are placed at the upper display edge. Usually they are not visible but if you will move the courser over this display area the Flash Cards should appear.

I don?t know why the message appears saying the Toshiba flash cards do not response.

I'm working on a friend's Toshiba Satelite L775-S7307. I've reformatted it, put on a shiny new copy of Windows 7 64bit, and installed many of the drivers required to run the hardware.

Now out of the blue, immediately when I turn on the computer, a window titled "TOSHIBA Flash Cards" pops up saying "Win8-TestVersion". You can then click OK or Cancel, both which do nothing more than close the window.

I did a search for the Flash Cards program on the computer but couldn't find anything and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I've attached a picture of the screen immediately after being booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Origin of Toshiba Flash Cards?

Might be the card reader driver for the laptop. Chances are, Windows Update automatically installed what it thought was the right driver and ended up trying the Windows 8 one instead.

Hi, everyone,

there may be a thread about this, but i could not find it.

I have the following problem: after the lat uptade from Microsoft (I believe the Fall Uptade...) everytime I try to shut the laptop down or restart it, I get the notification on the screen that Toshiba Flash Cards is preventing the computer from shutting down. I get two options - to cancel shutdown or force it. I tried turning the FN keys off from star up settings. However it did not help.

Has anybody ever had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I don't want to loose the FN keys, but i don't want to force a shutdown everytime either.

So any ideas?

After finally being able to launch Toshiba Flash Cards ( [see thread|] ), I just discovered that Fn+key does not activate any of the functions!

Activating them using the mouse and click the correct card does however work as expected.

I also discovered that adding the Raid console to my Flash Cards causes FC to crash!

Answer:Toshiba Flash Cards v1.1.7 - problem with Fn-keys

... So I found the cause of this as well...

User Account Control (UAC) prevents the Fn-keys to work. By disabling UAC, I can use the Flash Cards. But I suggest Toshiba better find another solution for this, as disabling UAC lowers the security!

Also I get a message on start up stating that Toshiba Flash Card program is not working.
Are these somehow related

Are you using an antivirus ? If you didn't make the 3 DVD to reinstall Windows 7 back to like it came from the Factory go to All Programs. That's were their located in my Windows 7 HP These DVD can reinstall your Operating System even on a new blank hard drive.
--- If your problem is recent try System Restore to an earlier date. Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore ----- If you can get to the Control Panel in Safe mode try - Backup and Restore - at the left top - Create a system repair disc. --- In the future you need to create a system image backup in Backup and Restore in the Control panel. I use Acronis True Image I bought from the Internet.

Are the correct ATI/nVidia graphics drivers installed? Make sure the Graphics card is not using standard VGA drivers in Device Manager.

Also try this:

1) uninstall the Toshiba Value Added Package in Control Panel -> Programs and features
2) Download and install the latest TVAP from the Toshiba Drivers/Support Website

I've done some searching and it seems that both KeNotify.exe (Toshiba/Utilities) and TCrdMain.exe (Toshiba/Flashcards) are responsible for managing the Fn keys.

Could anyone please explain what each does separately, and what functionality will I loose if I remove them from startup?

Thanks a lot!

Answer:What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

From my knowledge the Flash Cards (visual FN button row at the top of the screen) appears pressing if one of the FN + F1-F9 key combination would be pressed.
If you remove both tools, I assume that this visual menu would not appear anymore and you will lose the FN button functionality.

But you can test this just for testing proposes without deleting both entries.
In search type msconfig. In msconfig choose Startup tab and here uncheck both exe files. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

If you want to get back these processes, access the Startup tab again and enable both processes once again.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-065 notebook with Mocrosoft Vista operating system. Every now and then, I get a message on top of my screen stating "Toshiba Flash Cards are not responding". I have to close the message before I can proceed. What could be the problem and how can this be resolved?

Would appreciate any help out there.

maybe because powersaving issues? Could be possible that the system is switching the flashcardreader or is stopping the flashcardservice due to this powersaving settings.

Just a little suggestion: remove all flashcard related tools/drivers, download the latest versions of that software from the toshiba website

Maybe you can solve that error with performing a reinstall?

Answer:Can I disable the Tcrdmain.exe in msconfig - Toshiba Flash cards

Why shouldn?t be it safe? ;)
You can set it back if something will go wrong?.

You can try it.
Disable this background process in ?msconfig? a then boot the machine again.
After this short procedure you could check in task manager if the Tcrdmain.exe was disabled and if the notebook runs trouble free.

Toshiba Flash Card Utility controls the Fn buttons.
You should check and if necessary should disable and enable the Flash Card in Programs\Toshiba\Flash Card utility

If this will not help, reinstall the Flash Card Support Utility again.

Toshiba Flash Cards crashes on Vista when windows is set to use the "windows standard" colour scheme under appearance settings, (for your information, I prefer to use this mode as vista runs quicker, uses less battery power and less system ram in this mode).

However it does not crash immediately, instead it seems to crash whenever I rotate the screen (which happens quite often as I?m using a tablet pc) with the previous version of the software it crashed on boot however that seems to have been rectified with this version although not completely, however when it crashes it will not fully close even if i force task manager to end the process (rather than just the task).

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Answer:Satellite U300 PSU30C - Toshiba flash cards and accessibility tools issue

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook: => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

Hi all.

Hardware: Toshiba Tecra S5-14R
I have a problem with Toshiba Flash Cards software.
When it starts I've received an error "R6025 - pure virtual function call", and then the microsoft alert that Toshiba Flash Cards software stopped working

I'm using Windows Vista Business 32 bit OS, and I've downloaded new version of Toshiba Flash Cards software (v.2.00.05), but it doesn't solve the problem.

Could somebody help?

Answer:Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software ?Microsoft Money?.

Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|]

I would recommend doing this:

1. Disable the Flash cards
2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
- regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
- regsvr32 sccbase.dll
- regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

4. Enable the Flash Card Utility again

im not sure about overheating in the x500, but one good reason for reevaluating your brand of choice is the fact that toshiba does not provide software/driver support for the highest of its laptop models (moreover, they did not release a single piece of information, why

had i known that i wouldnt have purchased a toshiba and would have gone for alienware instead, which is now the same price as my x700

In front of me is an QOSMIO X500/02G (PQX33A-02G00J) that has seen a few troubles.

I have been told that it suffered a corrupted HDD and have been asked to get it working again.

On investigation I have found three likely points of failure:
1) both HDD bays are empty
2) both RAM slots are empty
3) when the power cable is connected none of the indicator lights activate, and the power button triggers no response.

I have been able to locate a working laptop with an identical power cable and have confirmed:
1) the power cable provided with the faulty laptop is capable of powering the known-good laptop.
2) the faulty laptop fails to respond when using the known-good power cable.

My question:
*Is this model expected to provide zero signs of life if missing HDD +and/or+ RAM? Or is it suffering a more critical failure?*

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Qosmio X500 needs RAM /HDD or DOA?

Well, the notebook would not power up without the RAM.
So you need RAM modules in order to power up the unit.

But from my knowledge the power indicator should be ON (even if RAM modules are not inserted) in case good working AC adaptor is connected and power would be supplied correctly to the notebook.

In case the power indicator is OFF even if the AC adaptor is connected, then there could be some problem with the motherboard (maybe power supply electronic on the mobo).

Hi all, new to this forum so looking forward to reading some of your expert advise. Time to upgrade my laptop......again, I am looking at the X500 02M. I want the best fastest lap top I can get my hands on for what I do... is this it??

*I will be using it for the following*:

High speed internet use, must be very quick at opening numerous pages and letting me scan between all open web sites with a quick refresh time.

Forum discussions, I talk on quite a few forums and they do take a while to refresh when I am on 3-4 at a time, must be quick here.

Photography and photoshop, I will have the Adobe Lightroom 3 (when it's realesed) downloaded on the laptop. I will also have a 500GB external hard drive with photos on it that. I will be importing from the external hd to photoshop. I don't want to be waiting all day to import and work on photos.

I will also be watching DVD's including Blue Ray and I know the X500 02M supports this function.

I realise this laptop is predominately for gamers but will it also fulfil my needs, I am not a gamer so if there is anything else out there that will do the same job in Toshiba please let me know. I am very keen on this model though and I have done a fair bit of research.

I will also be getting the Gaming Backpack and a few other odds and ends. Please recommend any additional extras you think would come in handy.

Cheers, look forward to the responses..

Answer:Need new Lap Top Qosmio X500-02M

To be clear, Qosmio X500 is best multimedia notebook designed by Toshiba and if you will buy it you will have newest and most powerful peace of hardware.

After reading all you wrote I believe it is good decision to buy this Qosmio notebook.
For better performance you should optimize preinstalled OS. That means remove all preinstalled stuff you don't need, install your favourite applications, disable or useless processes and services, be sure useless applications will not start with OS. I believe you know what I mean and you probably do this already before you start to use OS.

I don't know how it works in Australia but here in Europe you can buy certain product and test it for two weeks. If you don't like it you can send it back. If the same is in your country buy it, test it and be sure you choose the right product.

Please inform us about your experience with this ?multimedia toy?.

It?s really pity that you had such problems with your notebook. :(
Hardware problems are really annoying and I can understand your very well.

You said the notebook has been taken for the repair again? so let?s hope it will be fixed properly this time?

I?ve got two Toshiba notebooks.
Both have been running properly all the time. But of A210 shut-off automatically some month ago.
I disassembled the notebook (warranty was not valid anymore) and cleaned the fans.

The cooling modules were really dirty and I removed a lot of dust.
I renewed also the thermal grease. Since then the unit run properly. No shut down anymore.

However, good luck mate and hopefully the agents will be able to fix the hardware problems.

Your question is a little bit hard to understand but I think you want to replace the HDD with another (faster) model, right?

Well, that?s no problem. HDDs with 7200rpm will work, they are a little bit louder but they are faster so if you need more performance no problem.
Also 750GB or more is no problem because SATA interface is not capacity limited. Theoretically 1TB or more should also work.

Anyway, you can buy the 750GB you mentioned it will work. :)

I just bought a X500-148. Started freezing from day 1. I thought it was the sharescope software I was using. However the vendor tells me the software has no issues, so I began to suspect it was my ?1800 quid X500. I updated all the drivers, but it still would freeze intermittently. Then one day I powered it down and it froze whilst in the power down mode and I had to remove the power cord and battery to fully switch it off.

After this, it would often not even go through the boot process. When it did boot up and load windows, I tried the re-install windows to earlier date option. Needless to say it froze during the middle of this and so windows 7 is now also totaly corrupt and knackered.

I have been told by an expert it has to be the Toshiba hardware, i.e. the laptop itself as the fact it was freezing during booting means it could never have been windows or any of the software. To my horror I checked out the web site here and find Toshibas idea of service is to return it to PC World and let them fix it. They collected my laptop on the 23 December but have lost it. I have spent hours on the phone on a 0844 rate number to no avail.

Im back on the Toshiba web site trying to find a email address to write and complain to. Guess what, I cant even seem to find an email address for the computer division.

Strange as firstly it will wipe out my hours of videos and photos as well as the windows image of the last succesfull boot when I removed the second disk drive and put it in a cradle to transfer my sharescope data to my old pc.

Secondaly the 560GB disk drive is just a secondary backup and has nothing to do with the booting up of the laptop nor the normal running of windows and programes.

I have little faith I will get me videos back ever now, let alone a working laptop.

How can it be the backup disk drive causing the pc to freeze during booting and running, when
A) it works fine in a USB cradle adapter and
B) has nothing to do with the normal running of the laptop ?

Sorry for my poor english:

I'd like to have your opinions and advice.
I mistakenly plugged into the sector Qosmio putting the wrong decision.
Of course, it does not come this way but at first contact, I heard a slight noise !
Normally connected since there is no indicator that lights up. By cons, with the battery, it works fine.
Could this be the external transformer or an internal?

Pending vote reply, thank you in advance.

Can't find anything on this on the forum so thought I would ask. I am looking for a sleeve that will fit my X500 02M laptop when I get it. I am currently looking at this one:

But I can't seem to find anyware that ships this model to Australia. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, I have come accross one other 18.4" sleeve on Ebay but it's orange and I am not keen on the model either.

Answer:Want to buy sleeve for my Qosmio X500-02M

Google is your best friend!!! ;)
Classic notebook bags and cases you can find in every PC store but if you want to buy something special I recommend you to check AMAZON online store.
I hope you will find something there.

Dear all,
I apologize right away if this is the wrong forum and/or if this problem has been answered before, I couldn't find anything ...
My 2010 Qosmio X500-10V - that still worked fine yesterday - greets me with a bluescreen today.

Error code is:
0x0000001A(0x0000000000041284, 0xFFFFF8A0041CF001, 0x0000000000001BB8, 0xFFFFF787C0000000)

Possibly some RAM problem?

I do have the recovery disk, but this doesn't give me a repair option, but only the possibility to completely reinstall the operating system (win 7 64 bit).
Could you please give me some help as how to proceed?
Thank you very much in advance ...

Answer:Qosmio X500 - Bluescreen

Is this BSOD shown again and again?
Can you start OS somehow (safe mode or normal mode)?

What you can try is to run Windows memory diagnostic tool. Check please and on step 4 you will see this option.

I'm hoping for answer from Toshiba (if they are reading this).

I was wondering why this model no longer has raid. My last Qosmio (G30) had raid which I found extremely useful. But this model doesn't even though it equiped with two HDD.

I'm finding this to be a real issue for me given what I use my machine for.

Is there a nwer model out soon with raid ?

Answer:RAID on Qosmio x500-02M

This is user-to-user forum and here you will not get an answer from Toshiba.
About new models you can maybe find some info on Toshiba page but I doubt Toshiba will offer some new hardware configurations on Qosmio x500.

My 64GB is really small because I have to much software to run on it.

Could you tell me :
-Which SSD drive fits to this computer?
-How I have to proceed to change it?

I tried to get help from Toshiba's support but didn't even get an answer.

Thank you by advance for your help.

Answer:Qosmio X500-122 - How to replace the SSD?

Hi buddy,

All drives are placed on bottom side. That means SSD and HDD can be exchanged if you turn the notebook around and remove the SSD/HDD cover that is secured with two screws. If you remove these screws you can exchange the SSD.

All 2.5? SSDs are compatible. The notebook supports SATA interface so there is no capacity limits and you can buy every SSD. Also there is no certain brand that you have to buy because all will work.
As far as I know OCZ and G.Skill make good SSDs. :)

I have a relatively new X500 (January 2011), its been working fine.

Today I tried to turn it on and nuthin! Dead as a Dodo. The left hand light that indicates mains power is on when its plugged into the wall socket but it will not boot up?

Any ideas?

Answer:Qosmio X500 - Won't start up

Well, if you are not able to start the notebook I would follow the instructions here:
[Which steps should be followed if your Toshiba notebook doesn't start?|]

And as you can already read in this official Toshiba article if it doesn?t work it looks like a serious hardware malfunction. That means you have to contact an authorized service provider and let the guys check your notebook.

But don?t worry: If your notebook is under warranty, the repair is for free. :)

Hopefully someone can help me.

We live in Netherlands and the Qosmio X500 is not available!

I found him in Germany where available but the laptop comes with a German Windows 7.

Toshiba said in an e-mail that I have a Dutch Windows 7 may turn out, but they do not know whether the laptop works because they have not tested.

Has anyone bought a Qosmio x500 windows with a different language, and the national language installed then let me know!

Answer:Qosmio x500 in another language

Qosmio X500 is available in EMEA.
This means you can purchase this notebook model in different European countries and Middle East.

If you need an Qosmio X500 with an preinstalled Windows in English language then I recommend choosing an X500 model which is available in UK.

Here is a UK Toshiba page:

Go to Laptops -> Qosmio -> Qosmio X500 series ?View all models?

There you will find the Qosmio X500-10X and Qosmio X500-10T

Both units should contain Win 7 in English language ;)

I use my computer on daily activities and it freezes when I watch movie, listen to music, general computing needs, surfing the net just general usage.
Has anyone in Brisbane Australia had this problem and how did they fix it. I have warranty left on it would they take it back if I ask for a refund on this computer or is it too late.

All information would be much appreciated. When it freezes while watching movies etc, it makes a buzzing noise and the only way to stop it is turn the computer off then back on by the main power button.

Does your Qosmio freezes for second or two and then you can continue with your work or notebook must be restarted?

Hi everybody,

I own a X200-21K for two years and i bought last week a X500-110.
My problem is that i have an external HHD trascend storejet 250GB.
When i connect it to my X200 with a small (0,5m) USB cable it works fine.
When i connect it to the X500 with the same cord it doesn't work at all, even the led is off.
This HDD receive power from the usb cable, doesn't has second port for power supply.

The X200 OS is Vista home Premium 32bit and the X500 is Windows7 home premium 64bit.

All the usb port on X500 work fine with a flash drive.

The problem is to my laptop's ports and the power supply they get or in Windows 7?
I change to all the options in bios the usb gharge and sleep (mode 4, mode 3, disable) but nothing happened.

Please help me , if the laptop has problem i have to return it.

Thank you

Answer:Qosmio X500 - USB low power

Sounds like the ports cant supply enough power to the HDD.

Have you tried all the USB Ports?

You could use another USB Cable with the extra USB connector, so the HDD can get enough power to spin up.

Hi everyone!

My question may sound a bit strange, but here it is: why does my computer work so slow? I mean, the notebook with 4-core processor can't work that slow! It takes 5 minutes after I turn it on to begin working normally, although I deleted all unimportant programs from the autoruns list! It hangs so often, that I just can't work normally! And why on earth did Photoshop ran faster on my previous computer with only 128 mb of video memory than on this monster with 1024 mb?!

Maybe, there's some trouble with the soft, that I installed, but what can it be? Winamp? Sony Vegas? Opera? I checked my system for viruses with the Norton anti-virus, but it didn't find anything.

Does anyone else have problems like this or, probably, you know the solution?

Answer:Qosmio X500 - too slow

Oh, did you mention Norton System Virus.... Ooops I mean Anti-Virus? Well take that off your system for a start. It's most likely running 15 scans at the same time while you system is busy doing its normal activities.
There is the possibility that the HDDs are so slow that they could be the cause of the problem.
Another possibility is that your Cores are not running in turbo boost mode as you system is already too hot so they stay running at a lower clock speed to stay in temperature safe limits. You in a hot room?

I'm finding windows 7 particularly frustating so I want to dual boot with winxp.

So I tried installing XP but I keep getting a BSOD after setup does its initial copying of files (before the bit where you specify which partition to install onto). At first I thought that it maybe because I need to slipstream SATA drivers into the installation so that it can detect the hard disks. But that didn't work. So now I'm at a lost as to why I can't install it? Is it to do with the hidden partition on the laptop thats been setup to store the backup image of the system?

Anybody able to tell me if its possible to install XP on and if so how to do it?

My Qosmio X500 is from Australia.

Answer:How do you install WXP on a Qosmio X500?

I think that your laptop has two hd's. Leave on the first hard disk Windows 7 and instal on the second hard disk XP.

on booting you can switch normally on push "F12" to the OS.

Two days ago I purchased a Qosmio X500/04n. Out of the box, plugged in and turned on without a problem. Next day, same thing - no problem.

Today, it won't turn on. When I plug in the power cord, there is the correct red indicator light luminated. But, with or without the power cord, it will not turn on. I'm wondering if I've knocked a button or lock or something to prevent it being turned on, or have I got a dud??

Appreciate your suggestions.

Answer:Qosmio X500 - Can't turn it on

That?s really strange... I think it?s a power or mainboard problem...

In your case I would do this:
Remove the battery and AC adapter and wait at least one hour. After this connect both parts again and try to start it.

If it doesn?t work you should ask for a replacement Qosmio X500. Normally you can return it and get a new one it?s not older as 14 days?

Few weeks ago, Pinkpanther's given me a lot of explanations on SATA series.

Today, I've found the perfect SSD drive for my computer :
*OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS 120Go SSD SATA III (VTX3MI-25SAT3-120G)*

Do you know if these devices are perfectly compatible ?

More than that, I have a genuine Win7 Pro licence that I would like to load on this new SSD in order to replace the Win7 Family version previously installed. The only thing that explains I didn't do it yet is that I'm not sure I will be able to install the Toshiba programs (Fingerprint, BIOS update, Card Reader, Display Driver, Eco Utility, BD player... and so on). Do you know if there is a risk to lose all these softwares if I change the original system ?

Thank you by advance for your help... and excuse my bad english.

Answer:Is the OCZ SSD compatibel with my Qosmio x500

> Do you know if there is a risk to lose all these softwares if I change the original system ?

Take a look on the Toshiba European driver page.
There you can find all available drivers and Toshiba software.
But the 3rd party software which was preinstalled on the Toshiba cannot be downloaded? such software is available within the Toshiba image only.

Therefore I would recommend using the Toshiba Recover disk in order to reinstall the Win7.

> Do you know if these devices are perfectly compatible ?
Well, the notebook handles the SATA HDD? the SSD drive supports SATA too? so I don?t see an serious problems using such SSD.

Got one of these last week. Love it to bits. A few things though...

1) Where can you buy a car sized remote control to stick in the side? I have TRAWLED the internet and can't find them for sale anywhere.
2) Why on earth did they put in a 5400 RPM HD?
3) My PC won't start if I have my external USB HD plugged in. Anyone else have this issue?
4) Can't believe they didn't give you a copy of Windows 7 on an actual disc. I mean come on! You blow 1400 on a laptop, it is the least you expect.
5) Sound card drivers - why are there two sets of drivers available for the same computer?

Answer:Qosmio X500 10X - a few thoughts

Hi Blokseski,

1) If such cards are available, you can get it from an authorized service provider. Give them a call and ask for that. They can help you!!

2) Are you not satisfied with this HDD? 5400 rpm are enough and if you want another HDD, just exchange it. That?s no problem and is done in few minutes.

3) No, never had this issue. Maybe you should try updating the BIOS or try another cable.

4) You can create this disk yourself. Therefore you need ?Toshiba recovery disk creator?. It creates a recovery disk with preinstalled OS (Windows 7) and all drivers and tools. The disk is bootable and so you can restore factory settings every time that is pretty easy.
But normally this information can be founded in user manual? I?m wondering that you didn?t read it from such an expensive notebook firstly ;)

5) As you can see one driver is from nVidia and the other one from Conexant. It seems that you need both? Where is the problem?

I have a Qosmio X500-10X which I bought in May this year. Every day, whilst using the Net, the system crashes & I get 'Display Driver Stopped Responding & Has Recovered Display Driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 258.96 stopped responding & has successfully recovered.' Error.

On checking the NVIDIA site I get a 'NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250M 258.96 Your PC currently has the latest driver installed for your GPU. No driver update is necessary at this time.' message.

Any ideas?

Also does anyone have a contact number for TOSH Tech Support please?

Answer:Qosmio X500-10X keeps crashing

Have you noticed the same by gaming or some other activities?

HELP Please

My Qosmio PQX33A-05800J keeps crashing and i know just enough about computers to get my self into trouble lol

I realize its a software issue however what software ?? back in the days when my computer came with disks i would reformat and add the software one at a time until the problem reoccurred. I like to clean out all the cobwebs so to speak, and it used to be easy.

I want to take it Back to out of box and i have a windows 7 pro disk registered to me but how do i Know what Toshiba drivers and software i need (no disks).

Or should i try updating the BIOS I have version 225 or so it says in my registry. And if so is there a trick to this eg( correct way to do it.)

Answer:My Qosmio x500 keeps crashing

It is not easy to say why your Qosmio crashes. Who knows what are you doing and which software is installed on your notebook.
Best way to get rid of it is to make clean OS installation.
New notebook models are delivered without recovery DVD and such discs must be created by notebook owner.

Have you already created these recovery DVDs?
You can also try to install original recovery image using HDD recovery installation. Check please user?s manuals to see how it should be done. Either you must press F8 at start up and choose option ?Repair my computer? or ?zero? button. It depends on region where you have bought your notebook.

Of course you can install Win7 64bit using own Microsoft installation disc. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba download page.
Which of them do you need? All of them.

Where you have bought your notebook (country)?

Why does my Toshiba laptop hum when I plug into amp when using power adapter Qosmio X500-02G.

Answer:Re: Qosmio X500-02G - Hum when I plug in into amp

Hi drs,

That means your notebook creates noises when AC/DC adapter is connected?!

Well, it?s hard to say something about this. Is the noise coming from your notebook or AC/DC adaptor itself?

What operating system you have installed?
Are you using newest BIOS version?
In your case I would check the current BIOS version and have a look on official Toshiba website for an update. After the update load the default settings in BIOS and check if this worked or not.

I have a TOSHIBA Qosmio X500-126 bought 01.07.2010 warranty expired 30.06.2013
On 25.05.2013 I experienced a problem wile playing a new generation game. My PC turned off. I thought i was over heating but i continued to shutdown each time i played Heavy PC games on High-Ultra Graphic settings.

On date 28.05.2013 i sent it to get serviced. They switched one of my PC-cooling fans and returned it to me.
The computer worked for about a week than the same problem started again.
On date 13.06.2013 i sent it back again. The employees switched a fan again (i don't know if it was the same fan or a different one) and returned it to me.
This time the Computer worked till 09.07.2013 when I set it back for a Stuck WIFI switch they fixed it and returned it to me.
The PC continued to work properly till date 07.08.2013 when the problem of shutting down started again. This time the employees only did diagnosis. And i know a diagnosis will not fix the problem currently i am using the computer to only what movies and browse the internet. Because no mater what PC game i try running the PC just shuts down, no matter the Graphic settings.

PS: I am quite dissented in the service.

Sorry to hear you have all these problems. On this virtual way it is not easy to say why all this happen but I also think the reason can be overheating and too high hardware temperature. Is your Qosmio cleaned up properly?

At least I think you must continue to talk with service guys and ask for help. I?m afraid nobody here can help you with this.

Hey !

I have got a monster Qosmio X500-11G but a recent simulator of mine won't play right, there ain't no textures trully shown up, all transparent. It is mainly because of my outdated nVidia GTS 360M that fails to support DirectX11. Seems like my monster needs a brand-new graphics card, which will easily support DirectX11 as GTX500 or higher.

Any ideas how can I get a new GPU embedded into my Qosmio?
Thanks in advance !

Answer:How to upgrade GPU on Qosmio X500-11G?

As you probably know hardware upgrade on mobile machines is pretty limited and supported for RAM and HDD only. CPU or GPU upgrade is not supported and in most cases not possible.

Check please follow Toshiba document ? Is it possible to upgrade the CPU or GPU of a Toshiba Notebook?
