Preferred Solution: Satellite A350 - Toshiba service station for Win 7 is not working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A350 - Toshiba service station for Win 7 is not working

Did you install win7 yourself using a generic Win7 disc?

Sounds like you need to install the Toshiba Value Added Package (for Win7 not Vista)

I have a Toshiba Satellite L10-B with Windows 8.1, which I bought for my wife. The complementary telephone support period has expired, and I need help.

Ever since I bought the computer, I have been wondering how to check for Toshiba updates. I eventually found out there is a program called Toshiba Service Station that is supposed to check for updates automatically, but I had not even seen that program, or any notifications from it.

I went looking for it using the search feature, and now I know where to find it.

I just today tried to manually check for Toshiba updates using Toshiba Service Station, but it is coming up with an error message to the effect that the program could not initialize, and that I would have to reboot or re-install the program. I tried re-installing the program from the support website, and I'm still getting the same error message.

Where do I go to from here?

Answer:Satellite L10-B - Toshiba Service Station not working

I'm currently having a different problem but with my Toshiba Service Station on my Toshiba Satellite P70-A laptop 8.1 notebook/laptop.

I had when Windows 10 free upgrade became available. Had upgraded it to Windows 10. I've been having a couple of issues with my Toshiba since the upgrade. But I'll address them in another thread.

The problem I'm having is the Toshiba Service Station as well. I got a notification alert in Notification Center from Toshiba Service Station. That there was some new updates to download and install. I opened Toshiba Service Station. Clicked the Download button. Waiting for the Download Progress bar to progress across. But it wasn't downloading as the download progress bar wasn't even downloading a small file size update for one of Intel drivers. I'm like waiting and waiting for the progress bar to fill. But only see an inch of the bar filled. The update was only over 300mb to download. My internet speed is fast. So I'm not sure what's taking so long to download.

Please tell me what I should do?

Hey guys i need your help,

I installed windows 7 ultimate on my toshiba Satellite A505 s6970, and i downloaded all the drivers for it from and i installed them all.

When i open device manager, 3 devices are not installed (2-Base System Device // 1-Unknown device).
Then i installed toshiba service station (windows vista / 7 32-64bit because my windows is 64) that he will search and download automatically all the devices needed, but it doesn't open on windows 7, it was working perfectly on windows vista.

Also the eco utility isn't working, and the touch media buttons work great but without giving that beep voice.

Thanks for Your Help

Answer:Satellite A505 s6970: Toshiba Service Station isn't working on Win 7

To be honest I have no experience with this tool.
I?m using Tempro.

However, I assume Toshiba service station was not tested and not designed for Win 7 at this time.
Maybe you will need to wait for next update which would work with Win 7 properly.

You must understand that the Win 7 drivers were published as Beta version? this would mean that the final version would be released in the next time?
In my opinion you should take a look from time to time on the Toshiba US page.
I noticed that every day new drivers are released and published?.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 PSLS0A-019002 with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed that I received two months ago as a gift.

Apart from disliking some the quirky and useless (to me) Windows Vista / 7 features, as the desktop is loading I get the error message "Toshiba Service Station has stopped working" which proceeds to find a solution, but apparently never finds one because this condition repeats itself every time I boot.

On another thread in these Toshiba forums, someone suggested downloading the independent utility called Toshiba Service Station and reinstalling it. I do not see such utility listed on the downloads page for my Toshiba model. Since I don't even know what the Toshiba Service Station does (unless it goes by another name - Toshiba Bulletin Board perhaps?), I have no idea what is causing the error or how to correct it.

Does anyone have a more precise solution?

Answer:Toshiba Service Station has stopped working - Satellite L500 PSLS0A

Service Station is not currently active in Australia, so you can simply uninstall it.

Greetings, I am trying to update my Toshiba Satellite P50-C-11M through the Service Station, however an error occurs. Please note the laptop is roughly a week old only.

As I press install on the updates I get the following message: "The software update download operation failed. Reason: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}.

I tried the following solutions and nothing worked:
1. Updated the BIOS Independently from the Toshiba Europe Website.
2. Uninstalled the Service Station and reinstalled it again.

Thank you, and I hope this helps others too.

I have a Satellite P850-12 laptop that is 2 months old. It's never been a fast starting computer, and now Service Station is giving me the error:
Unhandled Program Exception!
Source: Toshiba ServiceStation
Message: External component has thrown an exception.
Target: Void Initialize Component()
Inner Exception: None

(WHY are the error messages not copyable so you don't have to type it out while going back and forth to the error message?)

Anyway, reading on the forums, someone said to go to the Toshiba site, download again, uninstall, then reinstall from the download, which I did - still doesn't work.

It tries to start when the laptop does and it hangs for a long time before giving the error message. Dag gone Windows did another update a few days ago which I had to uninstall because it kept the computer from starting at all so I think that's what took out the TSS.

Any ideas on how to get it working again and leave me alone? Thanks.

Answer:Satellite P850-12 - Toshiba Service Station Error

It is well known that original recovery image contains many Toshiba specific Toshiba tools and utilities and also some additional applications and almost all of them starts with Windows. That?s the reason why almost every new Toshiba notebook starts slowly.

It can be changed. You must modify start-up option and disable some useless services to start-up with Windows. That?s not a big deal.

Back to your main problem: Toshiba Service Station. This piece of software starts with Windows and inform you about software updates. To be honest this is the first application that I have removed from my system.
Anyway, what you can do is to try to reinstall it. You have done it already but next time after removing it from the system try to clean up the registry entries using CCleaner.

If nothing helps only way to get it work again is to reinstall OS using HDD recovery option.
At the end I must write again: remove it from the system and problem is solved. You don?t need it at all.

Uninstall the Toshiba service station from the system.
Clean the OS using CCLeaner (3rd party software which can be downloaded from different websites).
Download the Service Station from Toshiba EU driver page and install it again.

Had my Satellite P500 PSPG8A-01U004 for 18 months and never saw what Service Station was or meant to do.My newer C660 machine cranked up Service Station and I stepped through a BIOS Update to Version 1.60 recently, so now I know what I am missing.

All my P500 gets is the followup message Microsoft is investigating the problem.
but nothing seems to be happening.

Answer:Toshiba Service Station has stopped working

Almost 2 years I own Satellite P500 and it is definitely my best Toshiba machine I had until now. My machine still runs with original BIOS version and original preinstalled recovery image.

I?ve removed Toshiba Service Station after first start and don?t want to have such programs running n the background slowing down notebook?s performance and inform me about some updates that I actually don?t need. All I install are Windows important updates and updates for antvir application. Nothing more than that.

Anyway, if you have problems with Toshiba Service Station, remove it from the system and install version offered on Toshiba download page -

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the file several times, and re-downloaded the file but same error appears after installation. Is there an update somewhere for this, or a new version?

Maybe Toshiba will release new version soon.

It provides two choices: check online for a solution & close program
close the program

and yet the service station continues to not work.

What's happening here?

Recently every singly time I use my Toshiba Satellite A500 I get an error message 'Toshiba Service Station stopped responding'.

1) I start up the computer. All good.
2) I go into internet explorer, ms word or ms excel (my three most frequently used apps)
3) In the process of that app coming up I get this error message.
4) The error message sits for about about 30 seconds to a minute. Then the program continues it's start up process and I can continue working without further issues.

While nothing serious appears to have happened it is extremely annoying (especially when you are in a hurry). What could be the reason for this error message and what can I do to fix it?

Answer:Satellite A500 - Toshiba Service Station stopped responding

To be honest I don?t know why this happen but what I can say is that this application is not so important and you can remove it from the system. I have done the same and I?m not missing it at all.

The station service message is "the Toshiba service station application failed to initialize. Try to reboot or reinstall the application".
Any suggestions to solve the problem?

Answer:Toshiba service station stop working on Vista 64

To be honest I never heard about such application and maybe is this some country/continent specific application. I have European model and we have some similar application called TEMPRO. This application runs in the background and inform user about some new updates or driver downloads.

I don't know if this Toshiba service station is designed for the same purposes but I can tell you for sure that this application is not so important and you can live without it. I have removed TEMPRO from the system. In my opinion, if you have such problems with it, just remove it from the system and problem is solved.

Can you please tell us for what is this application needed?

Upon start up I receive 2 error messages.

First says Toshiba Service Station has stopped working and second says cfFncEnabler has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution and will notify you when was is found.

Close program.

Any ideas as to why and what I can do about these?

Answer:Toshiba Service Station & cfFncEnabler has stopped working

Hmmm? maybe there is something wrong with both applications?
In such case it?s always advisable to reinstall advisable applications?

The Toshiba Service Station is a stand alone application and can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page?
The cfFncEnabler seems to be an program which controls the FN buttons.
So you will need to reinstall the tools which control the FN buttons?

As far as I know this is a Toshiba Flash Card Utility and VAP.

I have a Satellite L850-0C9 laptop and Toshiba Service Station is recommending I install the new BIOS update labelled "Satellite Pro C850 BIOS Update - v6.50".

Should I install this as its not the same model as my laptop,
If not why is Service Station recommending I install it?

Answer:Satellite L850/0C9: Toshiba Service Station recommending wrong BIOS update?

I assume this is your notebook and these are all the drivers and BIOS available for this notebook model:

The latest BIOS is v6.50 and it looks to be the right one.
The Pro C850 seems to belongs to the same series so possibly the BIOS is the same.

However, the BIOS update is always an sensitive procedure and from my point of view it?s not really necessary if you don?t have an serious problems.

I would love some help with this!

Any Ideas?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A350

Did you install the chipset drivers first before any other driver the .inf file gives the correct locations to which all other drivers will be instaled.

You should only use drivers for Windows 7 64-bit only

Have you checked that the FN key is not damaged or debris caught under the key itself giving a bad contact?

Is it better Toshiba Service Station Vers. 2.6.13 or MSI Wizard Toshiba Service Station last update on 02.26.2015?
Also why, if I remove the first in favor of the second it will be unable to put it back in the future?

Answer:Toshiba Service Station v2.6.13 vs MSI Wizard Toshiba Service

MSI Wizard Toshiba Service isn’t known to me but Toshiba Service Station is preinstalled on most Toshiba notebooks and tablets and this software notifies you about the new software and driver updates.

It’s a nice tool in order to keep the software always up to date.
Therefore I would not recommend you to remove this utility from the system.

Nevertheless if you already removed this utility, you are able to download this software from the Toshiba driver website.

Ok, here?s the story. I own a Toshiba Satellite A350 laptop for a few years. As every night, laptop was on, I press the power button making it go into hibernate and then pull out the plug (battery is out, since it is always on cable and it might save the battery)

The next day, I plug in the adapter, press the power button and nothing happens. Literally nothing. Black screen, not a single sound .. nothing. All I can see is the indication light that the adapter is plugged in, which lights up.

I searched the internet (using another PC, duh ) and found lots of similar issues with Toshiba laptops. Main solution seems to be holding the power button for 30 second, putting the battery in and restarting it. None of these methods help.

I took the laptop apart, checked (and disconnected) the CMOS battery. Checked the power button, which is working, cleaned everything.

Here?s the weird thing: I have an USB optical mouse and a keyboard connected. I noticed that ?besides the indication of the adapter- the red light of my mouse is on all the time and also the indication lights (caps lock, num lock) of my keyboard can be switched on. So there seems to be power on my USB as soon as I connect my adapter.

Hope anyone can help, because I ran out of options. Two friends looked into it, no one has a clue.

We have just bought a new A350. I was installing Comodo during a Windows update.
The Comodo install failed to complete, but the Windows update did. We initially had three problems;

1. Lost internet connectivity, but not LAN. This was resolved by installing Comodo.
2. On start up the following message box appears "Can not find script file C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Management Console\TOSHealthLocalS.vbs"
3. When I start the Toshiba Management Console the following message box presents:

C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Toshiba Management Console\TOSMgmt.exe
The specified path does not exist.

Check the path, and then try again

I have checked the path and that component does not appear to be loaded.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

I don?t know exactly what happens but I think something has been muddled up?

Maybe you could set the OS back to the early time point before you have installed the Comodo? This should help you too?

I've seen it and think it merely duplicates what Windows Updates can do for Windows. It may help with the other programs bundled with the computer. My wife has a Toshiba from Sept. but she hasn't had a need for the program.

Version that I had was V2.6.8 listed for Windows 8.1 no new listing for Windows 10.

V2,2.13 is now upto V2.2.15 dated 2016 and a much larger file about 2.5x bigger than V2.6.16.0

Toshiba OEM software is often specific to each model. You need to go to Toshiba support and look for the downloads appropriate to your model, here...

Unlike my Toshiba, yours appears to be officially supported for Windows 10, however the Service Station is only available for your PC in versions for 7 and 8. Hi Ben

Pretty often messages from service station can be confusing. You have new notebook and if everything works perfectly you don't need to install any update, especially not for DVD player.

As far as I know service station just offers information about updates but you are not forced to do this.
I use my notebook since more than three years with original factory settings and I didn?t install any update for drivers or preinstalled software. Everything works well and stabile. Why to change anything?

Hello there,

there was recently a "patch day" in Toshiba Service station. I believe from my memory the patches came out earlier but I installed them on 23 april 2010. There were three patches and as far as I can reconstruct from the system recovery it were:

- BIOS flashing
- HDD/SSD Alert patch
- HDD Recovery patch.

So, besides that I had problems getting the BIOS flashing patch to run, eventually succeeded by extracting the installation files to a different location and run it with administrator rights.

My problem is, that after this patch session, my Toshiba Service Station does not start up any longer. When I start my system, after logging on it seems to start up but then always closes again with the windows error report saying "stopped working" and that's it. I am not sure of which patch this could be. Also I believe that one of these patches said in the description that it will update Service Station itself?! I downloaded Service Station from the Toshiba Website but it will not turn out to the better, doesn't matter if I uninstall it before, start the installation with administrator rights or not.

My system is Satellite A500, Windows 7 64bit.

Simply said; Toshiba Service Station crashes and new installation of this tool didn?t help.

Well, because you are not sure what?s wrong and according to the posting, you have got some other problems related to the software, I recommend to recover the notebook using the HDD recovery option!
This will set the notebook to factory settings.

Of course you should backup the data if you have important files?.

Run HDD recover and after that check how the notebook would functions!

Hello members,

I have a Satellite A350-20q that runs a Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit OS. The problem is with the touch pad which stops working when the laptop is connected to the
AC power and while this is happening, I can feel the static on the buttons near the touch pad which are metallic.

The touchpad works fine when running on Battery and this is causing a lot of problem as I move around quite a bit and cannot take my mouse everywhere.

I had called up Toshiba support but all the said was to replace the charger which did not make any sense to me but I did try it out and it still does not help much.

The touch pad works fine when the Vista is installed and is not updated but after the system is totally updated it starts to cause problems and I cannot even determine which update is causing the problem as there are numerous windows vista updates that are installed.

Please Help !!
I have installed all the drivers and have the latest Synaptic driver installed on the system as of now.

Thank You.

Answer:Satellite A350-20q - Touchpad not working

> I had called up Toshiba support but all the said was to replace the charger which did not make any sense to me but I did try it out and it still does not help much.

I think this make sense since the touchpad did not work ONLY when the AC adaptor was connected.
I found this thread:
It?s about the similar issue and AC adaptor replacement helped!

> The touch pad works fine when the Vista is installed and is not updated but after the system is totally updated it starts to cause problems and I cannot even determine which update is causing the problem as there are numerous windows vista updates that are installed.

How should a windows update make the touchpad buttons statically? This makes no sense for me? so either it?s software or hardware issue?

If it?s software (OS update) issue then the AC adaptor should not has any affect on touchpad buttons? but if it?s a hardware issue then the OS updates should not affect the touchpad functionality as well?

I think it?s a strange issue and you should get in contact with an local ASP (service partner) in your country in order to check the touchpad.

I recently formatted the hard disk and installed Vista home premium again because it was running slow. Before formatting I had disabled the touch pad from using becasue I found it very uncomfortable to use. Therefore instead of that I was using an optical mouse. Once I installed Vista the touch pad was not working and the Fn key was not responding to F1,F2-F9.. The strange thing is when I press the Fn key the light goes on and indicates its working and when I press Fn+F10, the num lock gets on and when I press Fn+F11 it goes to normal qwerty keyborad.

I have downloaded all the drivers for the laptop including the touch pad driver from TOSHIBA offical webpage and tried every known trick in the book but still truggling to get this Function key panel working? Your help is highly appreciated.

My laptop is still under warranty but I am scared to send it over becasue they would go like you hav formatted the hard disk even I hav installed the same OS that I already had.

Thats the main reason to post this. Hear me out plz

Answer:Satellite A350-20S - Can't get FN keys working

Hi buddy,

I doubt that you have downloaded everything from the Toshiba website, otherwise your FN keys would work properly! ;)

Anyway, for the FN keys you have to install ?Toshiba Value Added Package?. With this package it?s also possible to enable/disable the touchpad. It brings all FN keys to work. > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Just download the version that you need and that?s it!

My toshiba qosmio x500-128 is taking forever to boot up these days, iver rolled back the system using system restore, ive stopped any unessential startup services that i know are not req at startup but the system still takes forever to boot, ive also updated to the latest BIOS etc

Another thing is that everytime i login i get the error that Toshiba Service station has stopped working...

any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer:Qosmio X500-128, taking forever to boot also Toshiba service station error

Toshiba Service Station is a simple tool/software.
If this has stopped working, then you should try to reinstall this again.
For that visit the Toshiba European driver page and download this tool for your notebook model.

Regarding slow boot;
I?m not quite sure what?s wrong here?
Maybe you should firstly check the HDD? for that you can use the free software called Drive Fitness Test.
You said you have checked all background processes?
You can try the CCleaner too.
The cleaner cleans the registry and you can edit the msconfig and autostartup too using this tool.

My touchapad worked fine on both system 's and dedicated driver (synaptics). One day I turned it off using Fn + F9 and after that I coudln't turn it on. I used system driver then. So I installed Synaptics but it said there's no conpatible device to work with. I tried Alps - no result too. So I checked bios - Pionting Dev. is on. I did changed this option two times thinking it may help - no. Today it's about half a year since I'm forced to use usb mouse.

Yesterday I restored the system - I had whole, independent image. It was created when touchpad still worked. After restore touchpad does not work. So I decided to install fresh system - same problem. I almost thought that touchpad is broken. However, today I noticed that when I disconnect USB mouse, then betwen this action and system's sound (informing about this action) touchapad works - during about 0,5 s. It moves! But I didn't managed to turn it on.

I can't understand what's the point. I read few post on other forums. It seems that some other people have same problem. They have different notebooks but still from Toshiba. I think we need professional help. Can we get it?

Sorry for my english.
Best regards,

Answer:Satellite A350 - Touchpad stopped working

To be honest I haven?t found other similar threads so it doesn?t seem to be a common issue. Also the touchpad on my both Toshiba notebooks works perfect and never had a problem. Furthermore here it?s only an user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me. If you want professional help you must get in contact with an authorized service provider.

Anyway, one point is not clear for me: You wrote about several system restores, images, etc. but what images you have used exactly?

In your case I would recommend a recovery installation from Toshiba recovery disk. The disk can restore the original factory settings (out of box) with all necessary drivers and tools. After this installation everything should work properly again.
If not it?s a hardware malfunction?

The function keys isn't working although I installed the Toshiba value added package which is responsible for activating function keys.

What the solution for this problem?

Answer:Satellite A350-13a - function keys isn't working

>The function keys isn't working although i installed the toshiba value added package which is responsible for activating function keys

Beside the VAP (value added package) you have to install the Flash Card support Utility!
Flash Card support Utility controls the FN buttons and not the VAP! But VAP is needed too!

About 2 months ago my laptop got wet, it was accidentally place in a puddle of water.

The keyboard wouldn't work for a day, so I wrapped it up in a towel and the next day everything went back to working normally, except the volume knob. I can only change the volume on screen.

Is there a option to turn off the knob that may have switched over?

I don't want to send it in for repairs when the only thing wrong is the volume knob?

Any ideas on a fix?

Answer:Satellite A350 - Volume knob not working

There is no option which would disable the physical volume control.
I assume the spilled water on the keyboard has caused this hardware malfunction.

As far as I know the volume control is a part of the motherboard and it?s fixed?
I?m not quite sure if it?s possible to replace only this sensor?
So in worst case the mobo must be replaced :(

PS; my volume control has not functioned properly. The volume indicator jumped on the screen and it was not possible to control the volume.
I found the solution; it was a dirt and dust inside the volume sensor. I have cleaned it using a compressed air spray without disassembling the notebook. This functioned!

I have a Satellite A350 PSAL6A-04W16 which I have upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I have installed the Toshiba Value Added Package for Windows 7 and while this fixed the touch keys for Speaker Mute and Media Player control the FN keys still do not work.

I have read in another forum that TFNKY.exe and HKServe.exe must be running however these programs do not seem to exist on my PC.

Is there a fix for this?

Answer:Satellite A350 - FN keys not working after Windows 7 installation

The point is that you have to install Flash Cards Support utility too and Value Added Package is not enough. As you can see in many other threads, FN keys start working after installation of Flash Cards Support Utility.

So have a look on Toshiba website again to download this tool.

Please send some feedback after installation. :)

I was wondering if anyone could help me? My microphone has suddenly stopped working. I was away for two weeks and when I tried to use the mic it does not work anymore. It worked perfectly before.

When I go into Control Panel and look at the settings for the microphone it tells me its active. I have also set the volume up on the mic and checked if anything is muted. But as far as I could see everything is fine.

If I test the mic the sound bar stays gray and the microphone is not recording any sound. I have tried some of the instructions which I have found online but to no avail.
I primarily use the mic when making web calls with Skype.

It is a very frustrating problem. I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A350-20S - Inbuilt microphone has stopped working

The inbuilt microphone belongs to webcam and is a part of it. That means it would be recommendable reinstalling the webcam driver. You can download the webcam driver on official Toshiba website for your notebook.

Can you post more information about your operating system? Do you use the preinstalled OS from Toshiba or did you make your own Windows installation?

Why don't you package all necessary drivers and software in one package after testing them, based on computer model for example in my case Satellite A350-13A, you could make one package for Win7x64 another for Win7x32, etc, instead of leaving us spending days to figure out what to install and where to find it and if it will work or not. You need to install the Flash Card support utility additionally to the VAP!!!
The Flash Card support Utility can be found in Satellite L500 driver area for example.
After installation if Flash Card support Utility reboot the unit once again and then check the functionality.

Is this the right version as when I checked on the Windows 7 site it states "After upgrading to Windows 7, the latest driver and software updates will be provided via Toshiba Service Station. We recommend you to use the Toshiba Service Station to maintain your system up-to-date."

But then doesn't tell you where or how to download Service Station, so I searched and found version 2.1.33.

Answer:Satellite A200 (PSAF3A) - Windows 7 Service Station

To be honest ?Toshiba Service Station? is not known to me but it must be something like ?Tempro? for European notebook models.

Anyway, I don't understand your problem. Do you know how this ?Toshiba Service Station? works?
This program check if some update is available. This update mean update for any preinstalled driver, Toshiba tool, utilities or even BIOS update. If you got info there is no update than continue to work with your notebook as usual. Nothing must be installed.

If preinstalled ?Toshiba Service Station 2.1.33? runs well everything is OK.

I've a Satellite Click Mini l9W-B-102 since a week. I

I upgraded it to Windows 10 and installed all the Windows updates. I've then installed the first BIOS update Toshiba Service Station proposed (V 1.70) successfully, and a couple of other updates.

Then I tried installing 3 new BIOS verions: 5.00, 5.10, 5.20. Neither work. As soon as I press 'Install' with the Service Station:
- a progress bar appears and successfully reaches 100%
- the screen turns darker and Windows asks whether I allow the BIOS update to make modifications to the hard-disk
- I press Yes
- nothing happens: the Service Station half freezes (doesn't allow me to scroll or visualize updates). If I cancel, the program is still frozen and I have to manually close it. Then it seems nothing happens at all

A note: after starting, cancelling, and rebooting a couple of times to see if I could solve it, the 5.00 update disappeared from my list, but I still have the BIOS version 1.70. Possibly another bug...

Toshiba service station told me I needed to do an update and install something, so I trusted it and went ahead, but when I clicked on it, it started running Insyde Flash and a file

The reason i'm asking is it just all didn't look right, the Insyde Flash program looked very amateur and weird
and also, when windows conrtrol thing stepped in, it said from an unknown publisher (which i didn't like) but seeing as it came directly through toshiba service station i thought it was ok.

It all seems to be running ok but when I ran my anti-virus it found a problem directly at that time - a generic trojan horse.

Was this update through toshiba service station legit?

Hi everyone,
I have a "Toshiba Satellite Pro A10: P4-M 2.2 GHz/XP Pro/15" TFT/40 GB/768 MB".
I installed the Windows XP Service pack-2 in my notebook.
After updating to winXP SP2, the only way to start up my comp after putting it in "standby mode" or "hibernation mode" is to witch power off and then start up.
I reinstalled "Toshiba Power Saver" but nothing came of it.

What can i do about it?

Kind regards,

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Pro A10,Windows XP Service Pack 2

Obviously does the Service Pack 2 not match with the preinstalled Power Saver.

First facility you have is to wait for an updated Toshiba Power Saver version which is XP Service Pack 2 tested. But till then you have no "Standby" or "Hibernation".

Second facility. If you need the "Standby" or "Hibernation" Function, uninstall the Service Pack2 and wait till their is a solution for the Power Saver Problem.

Sounds both not perfect, but I think the second facility is the best way. Toshiba will surely bring a new Service Pack 2 tested Power Saver version.

Dear Toshiba Community,

I went to Device Manager to see what the problem could be, and there i couldn't see any "Imaging devices", as if the camera hardware didn't originally exist.

I tried then scanning for hardware changes. A new hardware was found, but while try to install the driver, I get a message saying that:

+Windows found the driver software for your device but encountered and error while attempting to install it.+
+This operation requires an interactive window station.+

Note that the Device is being recognized as: TOSHIBA Web Camera ? MP.
I tried to search online for this driver but couldn?t find any.
I also tried to download and install the Driver from Toshiba support, but again, still not working.

Please help.

Answer:Satellite L755 - Webcam is not working - interactive window station

On the Toshiba European driver page you can find the webcam driver v2.0.0.19 and v2.0.0.13.

Have you tried both?

Usually the webcam software can be found in Control panel -> Software
Uninstall the webcam software there and reboot the notebook.
Now you should clean the registry since every installation leaves some tracks in the registry? I can recommend an CCleaner tool? its freeware and cleans system very well?

After you cleaned the registry, reboot the system and try to install the webcam driver v2.0.0.19

Good luck

I stil use very old Toshiba A350D. Notebook works fine with Office, internet browsing and other light task.
But last days i notice a problem with wifi connection. Well, the card constantly switches off automatically. I use Intel Wifi ProSET tool and Windows 7 system tools.
Windows 7 indicator shown no avilable connections and ProSET indicator shown wifi disabled and ask for turn on wifi with hardware switcher, when hardware switcher (mechanical slider with LED on front) is in the 'on' position and LED flashes.

When this happens, the wifi card is still detected in the Windows device manager. I reinstalled all drivers, but this didn't fix the problem.
The card can be switched on and off several times per minute, but most often when the card is turned off it is hard to activate it again.

Fn + F8 works well, if WiFi Link works properly himself.

Is there still someone who remembers this model and met with such behavior?

A friend was using a USB jump drive on my laptop. For some reason the monitor stopped working. We used the jump drive on a desktop and the same thing happened, but this time when we removed the jump drive the monitor started working again.

I can see the desktop when I start in safe mode, but I'm not sure what needs to be done.

Thanks for the help.

Answer:Toshiba satellite monitor not working

You said, "I can see the desktop when I start in safe mode, but I'm not sure what needs to be done."

I have to assume that you are talking about the Laptop here, since you say the Desktop healed itself after the Jump Drive was removed.

I suspect that 'somehow' the installed driver for the monitor got hosed. When use boot in Safe Mode default drivers are used....different than during a Windows normal boot in most cases...for just this reason.

Delete the monitor from the system via Device Mgr and reboot. Windows should reinstall it and its correct Driver. If the stored version of the driver is hosed, you may have to get a fresh one off of the manufacturer's website OR do a System Repair OR a System Restore back to a known good date/time. Try the Restore BEFORE the Repair, it's easier.

The CD/DVD Driver in my Satellite A50 Laptop (TEAC DV-W24E) won't read CDs or DVDs and doesn't appear on My Computer, when I checked the hardware, it says that Windows has properly loaded the driver but the hardware cannot be found (code 41). I don't really know what to do, should I consider uninstalling the driver?? thing is I don't know how to reinstall it, and even though I know plenty about PCs, this, for me, has been an issue and I don't know what to do. HELP!!!!

Uh... I guess no one wants to help me in here, or they're having a bad day, since I've seen really nice tips on the other threads. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a regedit to fix your issue, frist go to start then run type regedit
click the plus sign next to HKey_local_machine, then click the plus sign next to current_control_set, then click the plus sign next to control, then click the plus sign next to class, then click on the number {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318, then on the right hand side delete the upper and the lower filters, if both are not there then delete waht ever is there, then restarte the computer and the issue will be fixed

Okay, while searching for the internet, I noticed another individual had a similar issue; but I hope that with my information, you could somewhat point me in the right direction. When I registered, I put in all I could find to help aid anyone who might be able to help.

Anyways, onto the issue. A few months back I, unfortunately tripped over my power cord and spilled an entire glass of wine on my poor laptop. Luckily, my spouse was able to dry it out relatively well, and it booted up perfectly fine. The only exception was, my keyboard didn't really work, and my touchpad mouse doesn't work at all.

I bought a usb wireless keyboard and mouse and recently bought a new keyboard. She installed it, and lo and behold, a few keys still didn't work. Fast forward to today. Without thinking, I reached over and used a few buttons before realizing that a few that weren't working -were-.

Testing it out further, I realized that ALL the keys were functioning! HUZZAH!

Then I shift over further onto the sofa, and the it stopped working again. Annoyed, I had my spouse reopen the laptop to check it's connection, thinking that maybe it wasn't plugged in fully. Alas, it was.

So, I know the keyboard CAN work. I just want to know what might be the causes towards it switching on, so to speak, and switching off. The fact that my touch-pad won't work doesn't bother me, as I do have the wireless mouse (though a rough estimate would be appreciated towards the cost of getting... Read more

No access to tray above stops access to factory reset facility via disc.have no idea how to activate recovery partition without disc.

Answer:Dvd/cd tray not working on toshiba Satellite lap top

For now you might try Booting from an External DVD Drive (USB DVD Drive). You would also have to make sure you setup the External Drive as a Boot Drive in your CMOS Setup. Then you will be able to use your Recovery Discs. Hope this helps. Typically when you are unable to simply Open a Drive Door, there is a mechanical issue with the Drive that software will not fix.

To start off, I seen another thread about the TouchPad not working but this is a slightly different situation.. First off, it's a really new computer and I'm dual booting windows 10 and linux. Anyways, the TouchPad only works in windows but it randomly stops working every once in a while and I have to go into the mouse settings and re-enable it but what I thought was really weird is that when I go to the efi firmware settings, it doesn't work either.. The mouse cursor is stuck on the left side of the screen and i have to use the keyboard to navigate, even a Bluetooth mouse won't work there.. That tells me that is not a windows issue but that also tells me that is not a hardware issue either because it works in windows when i enable it in the settings.. I also have to use the bluetooth mouse for linux as it doesn't work at all.. I'm not a noob by no means, i fix pc's for a living and i usually have some kind of idea on how to fix issues but this one, i have no idea.. Any help would be great! Thanks!

my son has a toshiba satellite s2410-504 which runs on xp home edition. for no reason at all it shuts down and even though the power light comes on its like its completely dead, no fans working or anything. it did this recently and stayed that way for 4 weeks then out of the blue it powered up and worked again but yesterday it shut down and has gone back to doing nothing. i have removed batterey pressed power button with mains lead out for 30 seconds and replacing it all but still dead im at a loss as why it does this even though its an old laptop any ideas what i can do?

Answer:toshiba satellite shut down nothing working

It is more or less impossible to diagnose this sort of fault, without having the laptop and being able to run tests.
Clearly, as you have already established there is a serious issue either with the processor, motherboard or the power circuits.
The first thing to establish is - is the power supply good.
Also is the battery good.
When it was working was the fan running and was the laptop overheating - are the cooling vents
Overheat would cause the shutdown and whilst it may recover the first time, it does not mean it will do so a second time.
The same applies to a fried capacitor. When the capacitor goes open circuit the first time it may well recover when it cools down, but it will most surely go again and then will not recover.

You are I think, in a situation where this site is unlikely to be able to assist.
I would depending on the accessibility on that Toshiba, check the seating of the hard drive, the ram and have a look at the state of the cooling vents.

I would try a boot without the battery and with a known good Power supply

I would start with a close read of the manual - if you do not have it see this link.

Toshiba Satellite A205
Windows Vista Home Premium

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A205 from my friend's father. I've been using it for about a week now and today the DVD RW drive is not recognized by Windows. I've rebooted multiple times, and checked the Device Manager as well. I used the Toshiba PC Diagnosis Tool and that doesn't even recognize that there is a disc drive. I had been using the drive to watch a DVD just hours before this happened. The drive will not open and the light on the drive itself is blinking orange.

I have a Toshiba Satellite notebook computer, model # PSM60C-CD400E. I am not sure if my D: Drive is damaged. The computer does not recognize the d drive. When I go to "My Computer" the D: drive does not appear. Hence I cannot play any CD's or DVDs.
I took it to a repair technician and he examined the computer. He told me that he believes the problem is caused by a virus. He told me that my norton was outdated, ( a version from 2005) and that the computer would not peform a full virus scan. When he performed a virus scan, it would stop at file # 400 or something like that.
However I believe he is incorrect. I did full virus and system scan and Norton searched over 500,000 files and no virus was found. I am using Rogers High speed internet and they give you Norton antivirus with the package. I recently (about two months ago) reinstalled Norton on the computer.
I would like to wipe the computer using the recovery dvd/cd, however as my D drive is not recognized, i cant even do this.
Does anyone know what is causing this problem, or what i should do? I would like to wipe the computer, as this is what the technician recommended. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I recently purchased and updated my laptop to Windows 8 Pro. The touchpad works just fine but noticed gestures are not working. I did a Windows update, gestures still do not work. Weird how it's providing an older driver but I still tried it, doesn't work. I then went to Synaptics website and downloaded and installed the lastest Windows 8 driver. I'm still not getting any gestures. Under mouse settings in the control panel, my only options to configure buttons are left/right. No gesture settings. Please help as I really want gesture support for my Windows 8 laptop. If any other info is needed that I didn't already explain, please ask. Thanks! Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5518

I have been in control panel and made sure the touchpad is turned on, tried it with the mouse unplugged, nada.

Any ideas?

No disply on my toshiba satellite L500,power supply led is getting on .

Answer:Toshiba satellite L500 not working, No disply

If you still get lights on the edge of the laptop & you can hear the fan spinning and harddisk clicking a bit but nothing at all is appearing on the display then it's either the screen or the power inverter that have gone. Either way it's not really something you can do yourself, take it to a technician to sort out. If you are not getting any lights, fan or clicking sound then it is a power issue - the LED doesn't necessarily mean that the power supply is ok. Again, not much you can do yourself, take it to an expert."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Pink Floyd

this laptop has been awful and unreliable, suffering many crashes and moments where i have to go through the services and self troubleshoot what one is causing the problem. the main problem now is that the internet doesnt work.
i have tried in safe mode with networking, and the same problem. my wireless adapter shows up as the atheros ar9002wb-1ng

when i log in, i see an icon of a monitor with an excalamation mark next to it, which says no network acces when i click it. i'm sending this from my ipod, so its not a problem with my connection

when i tried to reinstall the wlan driver from the toshiba site (win 7 64 bit) it comes up with a message when i run the setup, saying that i cant copy a file to a destination. i tried changing the setup location and running as admin, neither worked.

please help me, as this happened so suddenly- it was fine last night and i woke up this morning and it didnt work.

I was fiddling around with Task Manager trying to eliminate some unnecessary background processes. When I tried to end Windows Explorer I figured it would just close a few files I had open, but it made my taskbar/windows icon disappear, and my wallpaper is also just black now.

I can still alt-tab my current internet windows and use them, but if I were to close them I couldn't open a new window. The task bar is just a blank black stripe with no icons, and nothing happens when I right-click it. I've tried Googling answers, but most seem to involve using some Windows Key+x or +r command to access the Powershell, which isn't responding now.

I'm scared about what will happen if I try a hard reboot.

Answer:Taskbar not working - Toshiba Satellite laptop

If you still have Task Manager open, Click File / Run New Task / type explorer and click ok. If you've closed Task Manager then Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.

Earlier today, seemingly unprovoked, my left click function stopped working on my touchpad--both the actual left button and the touchpad-tap feature. I've tried rolling back drivers, updating drivers and uninstalling the device and allowing it to reinstall itself and nothing. I've plugged in a USB mouse which works fine so I am able to easily enough try different things. Any suggestions? Any help at all would be appreciated. I've tried all the options that I've stumbled across searching on Google and nothing.

PS I'm running 32-bit Vista.

Edit: I just tried a system restore (it looks like I had a couple of Windows updates today). Still no luck.

I recently got a virus on my computer and resorted to reimaging the computer using the recovery discs that came with my machine. All went fine at first. I was able to use the DVD/CD drive to install several applications. Right after I installed software for my wireless-USB network, my DVD/CD drive disappeared from my drives screen. (I actually discovered this because I realized I installed the wireless-USB software by mistake, and I was trying to install the wireless-N software instead.) Now when I insert a CD, I can hear it turning, but then it stops and does nothing.

I have Windows Vista. Should I uninstall the wireless-USB network software since I don't need it? What else can I do without reimaging the computer again?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite L355-S7812 DVD/CD not working

I should also mention that I am not getting any error messages on screen.
