Satellite A300-1G5 - Questions about the Toshiba Utilities

Question: Satellite A300-1G5 - Questions about the Toshiba Utilities

Hi all ...

I have this laptop (link) : [Satallite A300-1G5|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1055589]
I have some questions regrading the exist utilities:

1. the webcam utility , is there a way to disable it sidebar and just live with its icon tray?

2. Toshiba Notification icon tray , can I get rid of that ?? it doesnt show any notification , but the icon still there , dunno why and its annoys me.

3. what does the TRDCReminder & TRORDCLauncher do ? what are these installed software (on the Add/Remove of the windows) do ?!

4. I dont use the DVD Player , DiscCreator and Ulead of Toshiba, I have better alternatives , can I uninstall them and get'em back when I need? How?

ok, hope that me questions are clear ... have one little GOOD question here ...

*Is there any software that can read the sensors of the laptop and show them to me ? like CPU temperature , GPU Temprature , Fan RPM , HDD Temperature .. a software from Toshiba itself and really can do the job ? 3rd party softwares not helping much in the case of the laptop apparently ...*

*one more thing, when Windows Vista SP2 32-bit Update , recommend a new driver for my wireless, NIC and touchpad .. can I download them or its a bad idea since the windows which find those updates?*

looking forward to hear from u ...

Preferred Solution: Satellite A300-1G5 - Questions about the Toshiba Utilities

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A300-1G5 - Questions about the Toshiba Utilities

Hi

I will try to offer some answers. Hopefully it will help you. ;)

1. No. as far as I know this is not possible but if you don't need this application just go to exit and stop it running in the background. You can start it again anytime you want.
2. You can disable this notification in RUN > MSCONFIG > Startup tab. I don't know how the right name is but you will find it there. Just remove check mark in front of it and this will never start again.
3. New notebook models are delivered without recovery DVD and you must make it alone. Toshiba has created small ?reminder? and this reminder should tell you ? Please don't forget to create this recovery DVD. So please do is using "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator". This installations media you can use for further Vista installation. I recommend you to use DVD-R media only. TRORDCLauncher is Recovery Disc Creator Launcher . When the recovery DVD is created you can remove both applications from the system.
4. Yes you can remove them from the system. How? Control panel > Programs and Features > there is the list of all preinstalled software. Click on application you want to remove and click on the menu on option ?Uninstall?.

You can download some third part applications like ?Speed Fan?. Please note that thisr part applications are not tested and all info you see there must not be 100% right.

Please don't download driver updates using Microsoft update option.

Hi,

I am putting Windows XP on a Toshiba Satellite A300 PSAGCA-09U01N.

I've downloaded all the drivers and installed them and now I am trying to install all the toshiba applicaion/Utilities so that they all work.
I've tried installing them in diffirent orders but keep coming up with the same problem.

The [FN]+[F1-12](Hotkeys) don't display what there doing like they should and some of them don't work at all like [FN]+[F2] and [FN]+[F6-7].

Does anyone know the correct order in which they are installed or offer any help?

I downloaded my drivers form here: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/a300/psagca-09u01n/download?os=22

Any Help would be appreciated.

Answer:Installing Toshiba Utilities on Satellite A300 PSAGCA

Hi

You have to install the TOSHIBA Common Module
The Common Module software is necessary and should be installed at first.
In my case it worked properly on another Toshiba notebook!

PS: There is a BIOS especially for Win XP
Should use it if you running Win XP

Hello,

I bought notebook Satellite U500-1D8 with Windows 7 home premium Slovak language 2 days ago.
I need to reinstall it to Windows 7 ultimate English (I need English language, Windows 7 xp mode). Where can I get or download Toshiba utilities - Toshiba disk creator, Toshiba photo service, Microsoft office 2007 60 days test version and Toshiba recovery media creator? on the web pages are not.

I hate upgrade version therefore I bought full version of windows 7 ultimate English.
Please, help me anybody

Thanks

Answer:Need some Toshiba utilities for Satellite U500-1D8

Huh ... I am afraid you will be disappointed now but here is the truth:

# Your notebook model was delivered with 64bit operating system only so if you need Win7 drivers, tools and utilities you can download them from Toshiba support & download page but for 64bit OS ONLY.
# ?Toshiba recovery disc creator? cannot be downloaded. If you don't use original Toshiba recovery image there is no sense to have it. This creator is not designed to create recovery image for current state but so burn already created recovery image (data files) to CD/DVD media.
# Toshiba photo service is additional software you can use with ?factory settings? only and cannot be downloaded additionally.
# Microsoft office 2007 trial version is kind of ?present? for people who have decided to buy Toshiba notebooks and it is not offered as additional option. You can use it with ?factory settings? only. If you want to have this trial version then contact Microsoft and ask for download.
# Toshiba disk creator is also additional software and can be used with ?factory settings? only. No download.

If you have more questions let me know.

Satellite L50-C-1GJ. Shortly after upgrading to Windows 10 I received 5 tempro alerts advising I should update utilities. 2 of them required the deletion of the existing utility. I clearly did this in the wrong order,. I expected to be able to retrieve the updates from tempro, but I do not know the names of the 2 utilities. I am sure they are missing and I need to reinstall them.

Hi,

I recently bought an Satellite L300-08t, and I also got a different version of windows and installed it but little did I know that the drivers for the keyboard and touchpad and all those utilities were nowhere to be found, and its really become inconvenient now.

Does anyone know where i can get the keyboard/touchpad utilities?

Thanks.

Answer:Need Toshiba utilities and drivers for Satellite L300-08T

Hi

As I?m not mistaken the Satellite L300-08T belongs to the Toshiba Canadian notebook series and if you would need any drivers, tools or utilities then you should search on the Toshiba Canada website.

Here the link:
http://www.toshiba.ca/web/home

You also don?t post anything about your kind of Windows Operating system?
If you will not find all needed drivers on the Canadian page then I would recommend checking the drivers from the European driver website;
Maybe some single drivers would run on your Canadian model.
But note; you can try it but there is no guarantee that such drivers will function

Hi friends

I have formatted my Toshiba Satellite A660-149 and I didn?t create recovery CD/DVD.
I have installed Windows 7 but now thing is that I don?t have any of Toshiba features like eco utility, HDD protection, face recognition, NVIDIA graphic controller.

Please suggest me what should I do now....& where I can get this software.

Answer:Need Toshiba tools and utilities for my Satellite A660-149

Hi friend ;)

All necessary drivers and Toshiba specific tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads Support homepage.
At the bottom of this page you will see option ?Driver download?.

Go there, choose your notebook model and you will find all you need.
Of course, there you will find stuff for supported OS version only.

Good luck

Hi there this is my first post would like to say hi. I have 7 installed on my desktop and Im loving it so far. I wish it were the same for my laptop though..

Its a Toshiba A300 (model PSAG4C-05U01C) it came pre-loaded with vista 64 and did not come with any driver/or refresh cd whatsoever.

I would like to do a clean install of 7, but im not sure if I'll have driver issues with this hardware. I cant seem to find anything specifically for 7, can someone point me to the right direction pls?

Also theres seems to be the odd time ill run into the odd app that only runs on 32bit. Would you guys recommend using a 32bit version? or is it better to stick with 64 w/ this laptop?

thanks

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A300

A quick look at your system specs: I would say it should run Windows 7 just fine. I would go with 64bit that is the wave of the future. Many 32bit older applications will run on Windows 7 x64, however there are some that just don't work.

That depends on the cost and also on how you wish to use the laptop. The RAM seems ok, I think the most that a 32bit system will recognise is about 3.25gb or RAM.

Hi

I have a few questions regarding my Toshiba P200-17C but I'm not sure if I should be posting in the Satellite forum, the Operating system forum, or the Toshiba Tools & Utilities forum but, because my questions concern all three forums and as the questions are directly related to the tools & utilities, I feel that this may the the one to post in?

After installing Windows 7 RC 64bit, I installed just about all of the 64bit versions of the Toshiba software that are available for my P200-17C and apart from a few niggly issues, all of the Toshiba software and Windows 7 RC 64bit appear to be working just fine on my notebook.

Utilities installed: accoustic silencer, assist, chipset utility, config free, dvd player, decoder driver, flash cards support, flash media, hw setup, LAN, modem, SD utilities, sound, TEMPRO, Touchpad,* value added logical device*, webcam, wireless LAN.

The issues that I am having are as follows:

The six media buttons just above the keyboard which are the internet button, the CD/DVD button, the play/pause button, stop, fast rewind, fast forward.

Toshiba/Utilities/HW Setup

With reference to the first issue - media buttons - apart from the "Internet" and "CD/DVD" buttons, the other four buttons work when Windows Media Player is launched but I would like the internet and CD/DVD buttons to work. With the 64bit OS, be it Wista or Windows 7, Toshiba have a download called "Value Added Logical Device"... Read more

Answer:Satellite P200-17C - Windows 7 and Toshiba Tools & Utilities

Hello Dave

Until Windows 7 is still in Beta phase and not officially on the market Toshiba and, I believe, any other notebook manufacturer will not offer support for Windows 7.
I believe you that some tools or utilities work well but it is nothing but luck.

All tools and utilities must be prepared and tested for new operating system. When you download VAP there is must be chosen OS and you can download it for Vista only. So if some tool works is nice but if not there is nothing you can do. Just to wait, like me and many other people who have installed Windows 7 for testing purposes.

Windows 7 has been on the market for at least a year now. And I cannot believe, that there are only *4* drivers to download for a Windows 7 x 32 bit system (for 64bit System there are *145*). When one installs this system on U500 some of the drivers and almost all Toshiba Utilities are gone.. and there is no place, where you can download them from...
Can you , Support team, please do something about this question? A lot of people would be extremely grateful for that.

Kind regards

Answer:Satellite Pro U500-10N Drivers and Toshiba Utilities on Windows 7

Hello

If you want to discuss with support team than you must contact Toshiba hotline and explain the situation.
You are right. Win7 is long time on the market but it doesn?t mean that notebook manufacturers support both versions (32 and 64bit) for all notebook models.
Fact is that older notebook models delivered with Vista are supported for Win7 32bit but all newer notebooks like your U500 are mostly supported for 64bit version only.

Global trends in computing, mobile computing and software development go forward and it is important to have always better and faster systems. It is the reason why all notebook top sellers offer more and more platforms with 64bit OS only.

To be honest I don?t think Toshiba will offer 32bit support for U500.
I have U500-1EX with touch screen and use original OS that I got with.

Answer:Cannot find Toshiba Utilities for Satellite P300 Win 7 64bit

Hi

May I ask you why you are looking for this ?Toshiba Utilities??
Are some notebook features no available?

In my opinion you don?t need Toshiba Utilities if you are using Win 7.
I have installed Win 7 and everything what I needed, was the VAP (value added package).

This package contains some tools and utilities.
If you want to use FN keys, then you should install additionally Toshiba Flash Cards Utility? such utility is not released for all notebooks models? so try to install such tool released for example for; Toshiba Satellite L500

At the underside of the laptop there is an empty bay for a second internal hard disk.
It's at the bottom left side (the first internal hard disk exists on bottom right side) and the bay has a sata connector.
The plastic cover of the empty bay has extended columns so nothing (not even a hard disk) can be positioned inside.

Does anybody know :
-If the sata connector is working
-If I can connect a secondary internal hard drive that co-work with the primary one
-Where could I order the bracket for the secondary hard disk (i.e. the toshiba code)
-Where I could order a plastic cover without extended columns, bcz I don\t want to break them.

If my question is not clear, I can upload a picture.

Thank you in advance

Answer:Satellite A300 - Questions regarding second HDD bay

Additional information (good news) after some testings:

I connected my primary HDD to the second SATA connector and worked fine. Actually it was recognized as HDD2 and everything worked fine. That means that the second SATA connector works fine and a second HDD can be connected.

The questions that remained answered are

-Where could I order the bracket for the secondary hard disk (i.e. the toshiba code)
-Where I could order a plastic cover without extended columns, bcz I don\t want to break them.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Re install wxp on a toshiba satellite pro a300-1dz

Installing XP on a SATA drive requires an additional step:

http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how...ws_xp_on_a.htm

However, Most newer BIOS allow an Alternate method for SATA . . Go into the bios and check the "Sata Operation" setting,

change it to "Raid Autodetect/ATA if it is not already. Now try to install XP ( could be IDE Mode, Compatibility Mode or Legacy Mode - different BIOS use different terms )

some will say IDE instead of ATA)

If there are no such settings you'll need to slipstream the sata drivers on the XP CD, follow the instructions in this guide :

http://www.digitgeek.com/how-to-slip...rs-into-xp-cd/

I have a new Satellite A660 with inbuiilt web camera, but there is no Toshiba software (as stated in the Manual) to run the web camera, nor the face recognition software.

I havent checked anything else yet but not in Programs directory and nowhere on the Start menu.

Any help as to where to find the software ?

Answer:Re: Satellite A660 - Toshiba Utilities - Web Camera Application missing

Hi

Hmm?. if the webcam is available on this notebook, then an right software should be installed as well.
Please check All Programs -> Toshiba if webcam software is installed.
Additionally you could visit the Toshiba European driver page and could download the Webcam driver for Win 7 64bit.
A Face Recognition software is available on the driver page too.

PS: It's very interesting to know if both applications would be available after new Recovery procedure. if you want you can try to recover teh notebook using HDD recovery procedure.

Hello everybody,

I have purchased a pre-order of Windows 7 Professional for my laptop and would like to upgrade it from Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it at the moment.

However, I just have one question :

- Do you think I will be able to upgrade from Windows Vista Home to Windows 7 Professional without a full install ?
- Else, if I have to perform a full install, then is it possible to install the Toshiba tools and utilities from the CD (I have not found anything to do this) ?

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite P100-488 - Installing Toshiba tools and utilities on Windows 7

Hi Fred

As I can see you have two questions. ;)

At first I must say that I don't believe anybody here will be able to offer exact answers but here is my opinion:

Q1 ? for OS installation I prefer full installation but I think you will be able to make Win7 upgrade. Problem is how the Toshiba tools and utilities will work after this upgrade. As far as I know in the past Toshiba has suggested removing some tools and utilities before upgrade installation starts.
So maybe you should think about full OS installation. I think it is better solution for you.

Q2 ? I the whole story I see one problem ? what if Toshiba will not offer Win7 support for your notebook model? Then you will have problem and just try to use Vista stuff in hope it will works with Win7 too. Anyway, in this forum you can find many postings where people confirm that most of Vista stuff runs well with Win7.

Good luck Fred.

Hi All,

I purchased Toshiba Satellite U500 laptop around 8 months ago which came with Home premium. now i am planing to upgrade it to Enterprise since i am using it for my office purpose and they have got the key for same.

from the Windows forum i see that there is no upgrade plan for windows 7 enterprise and i will have to do a clean install for this. i am ready for a clean install but how i can get all the Toshiba utilities like face detection, echo utility, recovery media creator etc. (the bundle of Toshiba utility which came with the laptop).

I am sure there should be a way for this and i would really appreciate any solution for the same.

Thank you.

Answer:Re: Satellite U500 - Win7 HP to Enterprise without loosing Toshiba utilities

Almost all Toshiba specific tools and utilities are offered on Toshiba download page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Have you already checked this page to see what you can find there?

I presume you want to install 64bit version and all offered drivers, tools and utilities are the same that Toshiba has used for recovery image creation.

Of course some tools like ?Toshiba recovery media creator? is not ready for download. You don?t need this tool for your own installation. This tool is designed for original recovery DVD creation.
If you want to make own OS installation and configuration it has nothing to do with recovery DVD creation.

Please note: additional software like Nero, McAffe and other stuff you can find in original recovery image will not be available for download.

Hello,

I have a problem with my brand new Satellite L670D-103. To install my design sofware (AutoCAD_32bit), I had to install a 32bit OS. So, now I'm running under Windows7-32bit and my CAD software works fine, perfect. The problem is that I can not find any TOSHIBA software (Utilities or Value Added or HotKey) that runs under Windows7-32bit for my type of computer. So the hotkeys are not working and my WLAN is turned off ! (I need to use the hotkey Fn+F8 to turn it on!!)

I've tried to install other version of "Toshiba Value added pack" from other kind of SATELLITE computer but it never works...

Someone have an idea? is there anyone from the Toshiba support to help me?

Thank you,
Olivier

Answer:Can not install Toshiba Utilities on Satellite L670D-103 with Win7 32bit

sorry,

I just made it work : I thought the "Toshiba Value added pack" didn't install but I just needed to re-boot after the installation and it is working fine!! then I installed "Flashcard software (as it is writen many times on this forum...)" and re-boot. All good! the hotkeys and the wireless are working! PARADISE!

The software I downloaded are from the L500 support page. Mine is a L670D....but it works...

thanks any way,

Sorry for mistakes, english is not my native language.
I want to ask a couple of questions about upgrading a300-144.

*Some info first.*

CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).
Chipset: GM965 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller]).

*Questions.*

1. My notebook memory frequency is 533 MHz, memory controller supports 667MHz, memory modules can work at 667MHz. Is this because CPU FSB frequency 533 MHz and new CPU with 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or this is hardcoded in BIOS?

2. Intel says that max memory size for my chipset is 4 GB (2x2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2x1 GB), who is right?

3. As I know, socket of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max TDP 35 W, so will T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) be compatible processor or there are some limitations in BIOS?

Answer:Few questions about upgrade on Satellite A300-144

>1. My notebook memory frequency is 533 MHz, memory controller supports 667MHz, memory modules can work at 667MHz. Is this because CPU FSB frequency 533 MHz and new CPU with 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or this is hardcoded in BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on hardware. This means that FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If FSB would allow support 667MHz then the memory would run also at this speed.

>2. Intel says that max memory size for my chipset is 4 GB (2x2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2x1 GB), who is right?
The memory depends on chipset. So if chipset supports the 4GB RAM, you should be able to upgrade this to 4GB RAM

>3. As I know, socket of my CPU is ?FCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max TDP 35 W, so will T9500 (http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB) be compatible processor or there are some limitations in BIOS?

It could be possible that the new CPU would not be fully supported by BIOS but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new CPU.
But as far as I know the CPU upgrade is not supported by Toshiba or any other notebook manufacturers and its your own risk to run notebook with new CPU.

Hi,

I would like to install a new OS (new OS: Windows 7, old OS: Vista Home Premium ) on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A300-237) by repartitioning the whole HDD. I see a non-standard partition, its size is ~1GB, can I delete this partition?

Which information holds this partition?
I have made recovery disks previously by Toshiba HDD Recovery. Assume when I delete all partition, and inserting and installing this disks, will recover the initial state (including the hidden partition)?

Thanks

Answer:Questions about HDD partitions on Satellite A300

If you want to install your own Win7 version remove all existing partitions and then create new one partition C for OS installation.
I presume you are writing about WinRE partition and it is about 1,5 GB.

I have installed Win7 ultimate 32bit on my Satellite A300 and it works perfectly.
If you need some assistance with Win7 installation let me know.

While working with it the mousebutton on you're screen get a gray scroll part
Like this: http://i35.tinypic.com/2h38nt0.jpg

I love to work whit photoshop and that scroll-thing gets very enoying!
*My question is: is there a way to turn it off???*

Of course you can turn it off. The option is called ?virtual scrolling?. Go to advanced mouse settings and disable it.

Hello everybody!

I have a satellite A300-1a9 (Intel Core 2 Duo T8300, Ati 3650, WXGA lcd 1280*800, 2 hard disks etc...) running Windows XP + SP3 + Toshiba utilities etc...

These are my questions...

1) Can i upgrade the CPU to Core 2 Duo P8400?
(I know that T8300 and P8400 use the same socket)

2) Can i upgrade my WXGA (1280x800) screen to a WXGA+ (1400*900) or WSXGA+ (1680*1050)?
How this will affect battery consumption?

3) Having the computer plugged in (a/c power), when i close the lid, computer goes to standby mode.
When i open the lid, computer wakes up.
Unfortunately, having the computer running on battery this is not the case.. I open the lid and nothing happens,
i have to press power button to wake up pc...

can i fix this?

thanks in advance...

Answer:Satellite A300 - CPU & GPU upgrade questions

Satellite A300 is newest notebook model and I am wondering you think about such hardware upgrade after so short time of use.
Generally speaking such upgrades are probably possible but definitely not supported by Toshiba.
On other way such radical upgrade like display upgrade is definitely not logic to me. You probably know how expensive such parts are.

In my opinion you should sold your notebook and buy new one with exact hardware like you want to have.

What to say about last question? Please check all settings in system settings and be sure you have chosen right option when notebook is on battery or plugged in.

Hi ..

my friend has this laptop: Satellite A300-20P.

I'm not sure what he did, but he installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit, then 32-bit again. The whole thing messed up.
Anyway, he didnt make a recovery disk for his laptop (damn thing). Now, becasue I have a Toshiba laptop too I know that there is Recovery on the Harddisk on the D partition (not the windows partition). I tried to use "Repair Windows" booting Windows, when I try to restore the whole PC from a backup media it says " No backup media found", now I'm not sure if the recovery sector still available or not, because the Windows cant boot. So is there away to find the recovery media?

If this mission impossible, then I have Windows Vista Ultimate to install and I can download the drivers from the site? The problem is, how I will make recovery media when install the Windows and the drivers ?

Please this is urgent.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Satellite A300-20P - How to restore from Toshiba recovery?

Hi

To be honest I?m confused at the moment because first you wrote about a problem of your friend?s notebook and you wrote something about your own notebook where you try repair Windows.
So I don?t understand what you mean exactly.

But fact is you have two possibilities to restore factory settings:
1)Use the Toshiba HDD recovery option. You can start it if you go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select ?Repair my computer?. Then follow the screen instructions.
The first partition of the HDD will be wiped and you get factory settings back.
2)Use the Toshiba recovery disk. It?s very similar to HDD recovery option but whole HDD will be wiped (all files will be deleted). After this you have factory settings back, too.

So that?s all what you can do to restore the factory settings. If the HDD recovery option not work and you don?t have a recovery disk you have to order a new one from Toshiba directly.

Alternative you can use a Microsoft disk to install Windows and then download and install all drivers and tools from Toshiba website step by step.

Hi people,

I have a question concerning the Toshiba Satellite A300-129;
I would like to install Windows XP on it (due to stability problems with Vista) but when I enter the Windows XP setup I get the message that Windows Setup could not find any HDD's installed on this computer, even though the BIOS tells me there is one installed. Do I need a HDD-driver to install Windows XP on this machine?

thanks in advance!

I am trying to look to extend the 1 year warranty and there is an offer on at the moment to extend the Toshiba 1 year warranty on a variety of models but the A300-16c isnt listed and doesnt even exist on this website.

Can anyone help?

Satellite A300-16C seems to belongs to the PSAJ4E series?
It?s definitely a Toshiba European model and as far as I?m not mistaken this unit were delivered in Italy?

May I ask you how did you try to register the warranty???

In your case I would recommend visiting the Toshiba European support page:

Hello.

I have Toshiba Satellite A300-1MW with BIOS 3.5 version. Can I make upgrade it to 1.7 version which i will download from Toshiba site?
Whay i want to do this?
Because I have a lot of problems with this notebook. For example:

1) Slow system loading on Compatibility mode
2) When I will set AHCI mode and install SATA drivers then loading is faster but I have problems with Critical Error

I don't know what to do :/ Maybe I have bad drivers (it is not possible because all drivers are from Toshiba site) or maybe I didn't install some drivers (there are a lot of drivers on Toshiba site, I didn't download and install all of them)

Can someone write the list of drivers which i need to install?

Thanks in advane and have a nice day.

Yours,
Tralla

Answer:BIOS Upgrade on Toshiba Satellite A300-1MW

Hello Tralla

As I can see you have already posted one thread with the same question and I am wondering you ask the same again.

You have these ?problems? because you didn?t install WXP properly. If you want to have well preinstalled WXP and use it with full speed use AHCI settings in BIOS and load WXP with all SATA drivers.
After doing this notebook will run fast, you will not have problems and BIOS update must not be done at all.
This theme is discussed very often on this forum and please take a little bit time and check this forum about WXP installation using SATA driver.

Hey guys,
I've searched the forums a little to find a solution to my problem.
Having not found anything that seems to be the fix, i'm here - with my first post.

I've been looking at a friends Toshiba Satellite A300, that wont power on.
It was working fine until he purchased a new charger - a universal one.
He took the model number into the shop and was told this charger would do the job.
He told me the tip was hard to get into the charger port, he had to use force.

Since then, it hasn't powered on. He told me the charge lights were coming on, but nothing else.

I have the same model laptop as him, so we tried with my charger, my battery, still nothing.

I've taken the laptop completely apart. Re-seated everything. Still nothing.

What i noticed was that with the battery in, and my charger, when i left it charging for a while and tried to power on, it waited maybe a minute then the fan and power on lights came on for maybe 5 seconds then it died again.

Another thing i've noticed is that when it's charging with the battery in, the quick play lights near the power button work. I can press them without the laptop being on and they turn on/off except the media light, it stays on if turned on.

The only thing i have yet to try is replacing the CMOS battery.

I was wondering if anyone here has any idea what may be the problem here? It seems very odd for this to just start happening. The laptop hasn't been taken apart ... Read more

I have an A300-1MO.
Can I use any Toshiba recovery disk \?
Or is there like a specific one for my A300-1MO?

I'm like a total noob....
Somebody pls help...!

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1MO - Can I use any Toshiba recovery disk?

No, you cannot use any Recovery disk? you have to use the recovery disk designed for this notebook model.
The point is that recovery disk contains a image. Image is a package which contains OS and Toshiba drivers?
If you would use another recovery disk then the image would be installed with not compatible drivers and this could lead to further problems?

Every new Toshiba notebook provides a Toshiba Recovery Disk creator tool. This tool can create a recovery disk?

My laptop has developed a strange power fault, it will charge the battery while it is off but when you turn it on it seems to run off the battery then power down when the battery goes flat. All the time this is happening the AC power light is on which suggests the power is connected and all is well, the battery light shows it is fully charged until power on when it changes from white to amber.
I am going to buy a new battery as mine is not lasting very long and I need the laptop for work and can't afford to replace it right now. Any suggestions as to why the battery is getting charge but not the laptop itself.
Cheers.
Barry.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A300 power fault.

There could be a number of reasons. A loose connection, power adapter fault etc.
Try removing the battery from the laptop and see what happens when the mains power supply are then turned back on.
You could also have a look at this link for Toshiba information http://www.ehow.com/about5912125toshiba-laptop-battery-problems.html
Doing a simple internet search, there appears to be a number of Toshiba laptop charging problems mentioned, with some possible solutions.

Reformatted hard drive and loaded xp from usb stick as dvd drive would not read windows cd. How do I load drivers as dvd drive still wont read cd and cant connect to internet to download drivers?

Answer:Solved: Toshiba Satellite A300 has no drivers

If you can find the driver for the ethernet controller, and can then get online, the other drivers will be easier to deal with. Toshiba's website is notorious for its uselessness in driver downloads so it's easier to go to the ethernet adapter's Properties in Device Manager and click the Details tab. You should be looking at the Hardware ID which will have four characters showing after VEN for Vendor and another four after DEV for device.

Note those down and go to http://www.pcidatabase.com and input the DEV code into the second of the two input boxes then hit Enter. The VEN code you have will appear in column three so you'll then know who made it and have a link to their site where you can download the right driver.

All my Toshiba utilities have stopped working.

This was after updates were installed in the right order as posted earlier in forum. Not just the value added package but also configfree and PC diagnostic etc.

I have a Satellite P100 - 160 PSPAAE running Vista Home Premium.

Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be McAfee Security Center having something to do with it.

Answer:Satellite P100-160 PSPAAE Vista: All my Toshiba utilities have stopped working

Hi,

I suggest you the following: Recover your machine and update the tools and drivers again. I am not sure if McAfee is the cause for your problem but if a system is broken on the software side then one of the most popular and useful actions is to recover the system and then to be happy when it works again.

Would appreciate some feedback on your success.

Probably a stupid question, but however.
I realise the TrueSuite Access Manager Fingerprint Software is probably OEM, but.

I want to do a clean install of Vista Ultimate (As I get it for free from my University), with Seven Beta and one of a Ubuntu/Fedora/Debian install. I want the clean Vista install to get rid of the nonsense bundle software etc etc that comes and loads up on boot with Vista but I do quite like the functionality that the fingerprint scanner offers to me, and realise that a clean install would remove this.

Hence it follows that I'd like to know whether or not it'd be possible for me to either re-acquire this software from somewhere, or recover it from the current install before I do a format and reinstall (Or any other free license software that would provide functionality to my fingerprint reader for that matter).

And then on a side note, is there anywhere that I can get the Toshiba Bluetooth / Networking Suite (Which shouldn't be an OEM thing)?... It'd be quite useful if the blasted thing came with a CD with at least all the things that aren't on OEM licenses and the Drivers for all the hardware, I wouldn't have thought this to be too much to ask for as not everyone wants a hundred useless bits of software starting on boot, as well as limited time trials to 3rd party softwares installed on their machine slowing them down, occupying their resources and wasting space (I know right? It's bloody hard to believe).

Answer:Satellite A300-M01 - Questions about fingerprint software

The Toshiba software and drivers will install in a Generic version of Windows after you install the Toshiba Value Added Package.

You can download TruSuite and other software from the Toshiba Website in the Drivers/Support section. You can also backup the setup files from C:\TOSAPINS

If you dont want the extra software installed, why dont you just uninstall them and then run a Registry cleaner such as CCleaner?

Hi all

I?m planning to buy new laptop of model Satellite A300-1GR for my work.
But I found that there's a problem. Many users face when dealing with laptop in general which is the deletion of partition when using Recovery disc at any OS failure & losing there data on other drives.
So what I want is a solution that makes me able to do the follow:

1- Have many Drives C, D , E , etc?
2- The OS is on C drive & my work data on others
3- In case of any problem or failure in the OS I can format just the C: drive & install another OS on it without any removing or modification on the other drives at which my data kept on
4- Ability to install different OS?s like Windows Vista , XP or Linux

Simply i just want my new laptop to be like my Desktop PC ( Full controlled by me )

Best Regards

Answer:Questions about Satellite A300 HDD pratitions & recovery

Hi buddy

Will try to provide a little bit light into this case ;)

The A300 is equipped with the HDD Recovery function. This means that you can recover the notebook without the OS DVD.
The installation will start from the HDD.
Of course there is a possibility to create a Toshiba Recovery DVD using a preinstalled Toshiba Disk Creator.
After the creation of Toshiba Recovery DVD you can format the whole HDD and can delete all partitions (if you want).

So now we come to the point which you have asked;

The whole HDD will be formatted (also the partitions) if you would use the Toshiba Recovery DVD.
Why? I think the Recovery DVD was designed for one purpose; settings the notebook back to the factor settings.
And this is what the Recovery DVD does. It sets everything back to the first state.

So if you want to keep your data on the other partition then you shouldn?t use the Toshiba Recovery DVD but an original Microsoft Windows OS disk.

Furthermore it?s always advisable to backup the data on a external HDD for example.
Then it would be no problem to get back the data on the notebooks HDD.

Hi guys,

please do me a favour. i am in Dubai, i bought my Toshiba laptop in Dubai. That is Satellite A300-1G5, Sr.No. 98487056Q.
The problem is: whenever i try to find my laptop in Toshiba help and support web site, it is not detecting my machine.

I have tried Auto detect, putting serial no in the box, both option, but all returns with the same result---- not available in region.

Until I detect my machine I am unable to identify the exact driver and so cannot check for updates.
It is strange that Toshiba laptop is not getting found by Toshiba website.

Can anybody help me?

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5 is not detected on Toshiba support page

It can happen that system somehow cannot identify notebook model but for drivers download it is just important to know first part of the part number.
So your notebook belongs to PSAG4E series and on Toshiba download page you can define exact notebook model and see which drivers are available.

Have you tried to choose your product manually?

1. Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2. If you KNOW the password this is the procedure

If you know the password for the BIOS or UEFI or don't have one set, you can change or remove a password through the UEFI/BIOS settings, Hardware Setup Utility, or TOSHIBA Security Assist Utility.
As explained on the link with the sub links to the appropriate OS

I have quite a weird issue that I haven't encountered before.

When the laptop is turned on, you get the Toshiba splash screen, hitting f2 gets you in to the bios, f12 gets you to the boot menu, both these menus work fine.

However, anything past this just results in a black screen, for example, if I was to choose network boot as the first boot option, or cd-rom, or hdd!

I have tried the following troubleshooting steps

1. Removed HDD/DVD and tried to network boot - nothing
2. Reset BIOS to factory defaults, checked boot items were set correctly
3. Removed ram and fitted known working ram, tried both slots
4. Removed battery and drained the static
5. Attempted recovery of the bios using floppy disk (results in same black screen when trying to boot to it)

No bios updates have been ran previous to this, all the client tried to do was connect the laptop to a projector.

Any Ideas?

Thanks
Jon Roberts

Answer:Satellite A300 - No activity after Toshiba splash screen

Hi Jon Roberts,

Why you want to update the BIOS?

If nothing works after the Toshiba screen it seems to be a hardware malfunction. You should contact nearest authorized service provider to get professional help. The guys can check the notebook and repair it.
Furthermore on the Toshiba website you can find a list of all ASPs.

Good luck! :)

I recently bought a Satellite A300-15A ; model: PSAJ4E;

The laptop has 6 Multimedia keys on the top.
As described in the manual, they are supposed to perform the following funtions (left to right): (i am numbering them for convinience to mention them afterwards)
1. Mute/ LED On/Off Button
2. CD/DVD Button
3.Play/Pause Button
4.Stop Button
5.Previous Button
6.Next Button

Can someone elaborate on all the above buttons.

The only function these peform for me are as folllows;
1st Button only switches the LED off/on but does not perform any mute operation with any application (not even Windows Media Player). Even when it performs the LED off operation; only the 6 keys and the bottom 'SATELLITE' display is off; the other LED's (DC in, Powe. Battery, Disk) are still on......what is the problem and how can i start its mute operation so that i can mute the pc with any application running.

2nd button does nothing but open windows media player. What is it supposed to do exactly?

All the other keys do nothing but work on Windows Media Player. They dont work on any other application; be it VLC or any other. How can I make them work on all the media applications......

Please do elaborate and reply with solutions.

Answer:Satellite A300-15A: How does the Toshiba Control buttons work?

3-6 buttons work well also with other applications , all you have to do is to choose an actual option in Application preferences (not notebook's !).

According to the first two buttons, i got the same problems... I found out that older version of Toshiba software had "Toshiba controls" application in Control panel used to change settings for all of these button.. but now it dissappeared ;< I am already looking for any way of changing 2nd button result :) If i found out any other than changing the registry then i'll let u know here :)

Those processes are quite important and don't really decrease the performance of the system.

If you want to improve the performance, installing more RAM or upgrading to an SSD Drive and using an efficient Virus Scanner will have the most impact.

No. the recovery disk will format the whole HDD and will erase everything from the HDD and partition.

This is user-to-user forum. What you need is official Toshiba statement but I?m afraid you will not get it here.

Have you contacted Toshiba hotline?

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1BZ Blank screen after Toshiba logo

Windows may be corrupted. Have you tried booting from a Bootable CD? For example, try the Memtest ISO from www.memtest.org

Directly after you see the Toshiba logo, press F8 a few times to access the Windows Boot Menu, and try booting into Safe Mode.

If you can get into safe mode, run CHKDSK C: /F to check for file system errors, then reboot normally.
If that doesnt work, then go back into Safe Boot and restore the PC back to a previous state using System Restore.

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 here, running on Windows Vista, and it will not see any wireless networks. The wireless adaptor is enabled and I have checked this several times to make sure. It will connect perfectly if connected with an ethernet cable in the RJ-45 port so this has slightly confused me. I'm sure there must be a simple fix. Also there seems to be no problems with the network drivers installed (No yellow exclaimation marks or anything). Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance

Simon

i just bought my new Satelite, but now i see that the best tool from the former Satelite line is missing!
POWER SAVER! i'm running vista at the moment, but power saver does not exist so it seems!
I was wondering if that was indeed true, or it just does nog exist in my language!

If it does not exist, i would like to suggest it to Toshiba, to bring it back, but it was a most usefull tool, mutch better then the one that is standard on windows vista!
If anyone has a solution, i would be glad to hear from you ofcourse!

PS i tried installing the version for windows XP witch i downloaded from the Toshiba site, but it does not work on Vista ofcourse!

Answer:Toshiba Power Saver on Satellite A300-PSAGCE with Vista OS

Hello

Power saver is installed under Vista too and you can find it under:
Start ? Control Panel ? System & Maintenance ? Power Options > ?Select a Power Plan? ? Change plan settings ? Change advanced power settings ? Toshiba Power Saver Settings V.xxx

As you can see the settings are not like before under WXP. The fact is that most of settings are now controlled by Vista and Toshiba power saver has no much influence in power settings like before.

What key strokes do I press to have the Toshiba Satellite A300 start the recovery partition?
On a Gateway PC you had to hold Alt+F10 then hit Esc and Alt+F10 again to access the recovery information on the HD without the CD's.
I don't have access to recovery CD's and I just want the laptop to boot from the recovery partition and restore the Windows Vista 32bit OS.
Your help would be appreciated!

Hello, I have this problem with Toshiba satellite A300.

I deleted many files and folders from my C and E drives. On restarting the computer, it only shows the Toshiba logo then a blank screen slightly gray on close inspection. Whenever I press the CRL + ALT + DEL keys, the computer restarts and behaves in the same manner.

I have tried using an external monitor but there is no difference. On trying to boot using a CD/DVD, same behaviour happens, it won't boot from it and screen remains blank after the Toshiba logo, I have even tried changing g the boot order but to no avail.

What could be happening?
Thanks in advance.

Answer:Re: satellite A300 screen goes blank after toshiba logo, won't boot from CD/DVD

Hi,

It looks like you removed system folders and Windows doesn't boot anymore. Have you tried to restore the factory settings from hdd image or recovery disk? Or make Windows copy installation... It's easier to reinstall it rather fixing the problem.

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1EB: Toshiba Control buttons & FN keys don't work on Win XP

Hi

The Satellite A300-1EB belongs to the PSAG0E series.
So please choose firstly the right notebook series before you will start to download the XP drivers.

After choosing the right notebook model you will have to reinstall the XP drivers.

The Common Module and Hotkey Utility are necessary to get the FN keys working.
The Common Modules must be installed at first.

To get the Multimedia buttons working you will have to install the ?Controls? .
I didn?t find it in the PSAG0E series but in other A300 series like PSAGCE. So check it out!

Bye

By the way: SP3 can causes some compatibility issues... so maybe you should remove it firstly!

Answer:Cannot start Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator on my Satellite A300-15K

Hi

Did you change anything on your notebook?
I mean if your HDD recovery partition has been changed or the data o thin partition has been deleted?

To be honest for me it looks like the OS issue. I think it?s not a single tool issue but I think the operating system has been muddled up?

Maybe you should try to recover the notebook using the Toshiba HDD recovery option and after the new OS installation on the notebook you could try to create the recovery disk again.

In order to start the recovery you have to press the F8 immediately after the notebook has been powered up. Then you should choose the first option called ?Repair My Computer?.
This would lead to a new window and there you could choose ?Toshiba HDD recovery?.

But note; this recovery would format the whole HDD? so maybe you should backup some data before you would start this procedure.

Wow what a long post? lol.

Try running memtest (burn it to disk and allow it to run at bootup; may need to change your BIOS settings to boot from CD/DVD rom). The error you are getting (BC Code 7f) could spell faulty or failing RAM....so give this test a try and see if you get any errors after running a few passes.

Hello everyone,

Any suggestions?

Also slightly off topic, the laptop has buttons for controlling media player, is there anyway i can change them to control iTunes?

Cheers

Have you tried to make an update of Toshiba Assist? A new version and all other Toshiba stuff you can find here:

Maybe the update will solve the problem.

About the control buttons? I think you must set iTunes as standard media player and select all file with playing iTunes.

Hi Levi

Have you tried to reinstall the Toshiba Value Added Package? This package controls the multimedia keys and also the illumination of these buttons.
Check the Toshiba website for an update!

Furthermore the illumination can be enabled or disabled in BIOS. Make sure that this option is set to enabled.

Last but not least BIOS update is worth a try! ;)

Does this mean that you have used the Toshiba recovery disk?
Did you create a Toshiba recovery disk at the beginning?

I think if you didn?t use the recovery disk then the issue is related to the missing driver or software part?

Does this program work;
TRDC Reminder and Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator after updating to Wins7?

The program TRDCReminder did not find "Renewal of computer".
On the program Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator was created and that incomprehensible?

If is not it these programm how to recover computer in the case of failure?
Does Tempro work in Win7?

Many thanks.
With kind regards.

Igor.

Answer:Satellite A300: Does TRDC Reminder & Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator work after Win 7 upgrade?

Hello Igor

In my opinion you should create recovery disc before you upgrade it to Win7. I have done the same.
Later if something goes wrong you can use your discs and install Vista again using created recovery discs.

I don't understand why you want to wait and create these discs after upgrade. This recovery disc creator doesn?t create recovery image of current state but always the same recovery image you got with your notebook.

Tempro should work in Win7 too.

Can you overclock a Toshiba Satellite KTKAE BIOS V 1.20 running an AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80 2.1GHz? either RAM or processor? I heard in another thread that the BIOS may be locked, but there may be chances on individual BIOS's to unlock them? can I also get some recommendations for benchmarking software? *I know, this is a mid to low range laptop* I'm just curious. I plan on pitting this against another Toshiba, but the second one is running with Crucial Memory, an Intel Dual Core, and *the real difference* an SLC SSD by OCZ *the Vertex EX* to more or less compare solid state to a 7200 RPM WD Black

I just bought a used toshiba satellite from a friend of mine. known issue, hard drive bit the dust. It is an A355D-S6930. When turned on and allowed to try to boot, I get the following messages
"Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 082)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation

For Realtek RTL8101E/8102E PCI-E Ethernet Controler v1.09 (080602)
XE-E61 : Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM."

In the system settings there is no hard drive recognized. My first question is, is the diagnosis of dead hard drive accurate with that message and what I'm seeing? Secondly, if I get a new hard drive, can I DL the Vista version that I need and use the product key that is on the back? lastly, does it matter what hard drive I get for it? Got some options and am willing to get this up and going... for it being listed on toshiba's website at 799.99, I figured 150, with dead hdd or whatever, wasn't bad lol. thanks!

Answer:Couple questions Toshiba Satellite

Quote:

Can you remove the hard drive, plug it into a working PC and see if it detects. You want to make sure that it's the hard drive that is dead, and not the hard drive controller.

Quote:

g? Secondly, if I get a new hard drive, can I DL the Vista version that I need and use the product key that is on the back?

Yes. However if the serial number does not work, you might need to use an another serial number and then call up Microsoft to change over to the orginal serial number and activate your windows.
lastly, does it matter what hard drive I get for it?
If it's a Sata harddrive, then make sure you get a replacement SATA harddrive for it.
If it's a ATA harddrive, then make sure you get a replacement ATA harddrive.
Apart from that, you also have the issue of hard drive brands. But that is about it.

I have a Satellite C50-A-571 notebook

Answer:Satellite C50-A-571 -Two questions about Toshiba drivers download

Hi and welcome

I?m not some expert but I?ll try to offer my answers.

1/
As far as I know support page you use is offered for Middle East and Arica. I don't know where is the server placed but download should not be problematic. In the past I used it few times for drivers check and everything was OK. Maybe is there some problem with your Internet connectivity.
Toshiba support and download page is definitely not limited and can be used anytime you want.

2/
I?ve checked download page and found 33 results for Win7 64bit so I presume you want to install this Windows version.
Anyway all listed stuff are not just the drivers but also useful Toshiba specific tools and utilities. This tools and utilities control some special useful special features like special keys functionality or HDD protection.

I can just recommend you to install all of them and have full control over your machine. Of course if you don't like or don't need some of them they can be disabled or removed from the system.

I hope my opinion is useful for you. If you have more questions you are welcome.

• My laptop overheats within the first few minutes. Is this normal or a problem with the laptop? (and if so, can it be fixed)
• Am I able to install RAM into the laptop (2GB Max) and if so, are there more than two ports in this laptop? Haven't really opened it to check myself because of my bad history of not being able to put things back together after taking them apart.
• I have to have the laptop plugged into the wall or else it won't work. (ex: if I pull the plug out then it will shut off)
• Am I able to put in a better graphics card? (I have an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M Series and would like to know if it's good, bad, or so-so)

I hope I can get answers to these questions, that would be awesome.

My wife's 1 yr old laptop has been flawless until it started acting funny about 2 weeks ago. The DVD drive started making a lot of whirring noise going fast and then slow. Not only that, but the computer started running very slowly. Web pages that previously loaded much faster than my old Toshiba XP laptop were now much slower to load. When closing out webpages or other tabs, the computer is very slow to do so. Almost like it's momentarily freezing up.

Not only that, but when typing an email, the computer will freeze as you type and then all of a sudden it'll display the last 10 letters that you typed!

My wife ran CCleaner and did a system restore. No luck. We've now tried a reformat but the problems are still there !

I'd like some details on the reformatting process for Windows 7. I'm very familiar with XP since I've done it 10-12 times over the last few years. Whenever I reformat XP, I have to reactivate Windows by entering my XP key from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. However, with my wife's laptop, I never had to reactivate W7. I'm thinking that it has something to do with the reformat option that I chose. I may have reformatted using the hard drive partition even though the computer asked me to load the recovery discs.

I'd like to try another reformat option that might be a "more complete" wipe of the hard drive and a "more complete, clean" install. On the other hand, I'm concerned since the W7 key on the sticker (o... Read more

Answer:Questions on reformatting Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite L455

To reformat Win7 is the same thing as it was for XP. Insert the disk, start the install process, format, install the OS. The difference maybe is that your doing a system restore to factory settings and not formatting and reinstalling completely. There is a difference.

To do the full format and reinstall you must make sure you have a Win7 OEM DVD that you can use to restore the OS onto the laptop with. then just follow this guide:

http://www.techist.com/forums/f127/g...torial-224994/

To format and then insert the Win7 DVD and install.

Hi..

im a new SATELLITE C870-1JV user
Or saw a review on a US website saying that all the preinstalled Toshiba software slows down the OS .
The site recommended a clean windows install to remove it all..

Anyone done this or recommend it?

Anyone like the installed software and recommend keeping it?

Thanks!!

Answer:Re: Satellite C870 - Questions regarding preinstalled Toshiba software

> Anyone done this or recommend it?
Do you still want to use the advanced notebook features like function buttons?
If yes, don?t remove the Toshiba function key software which controls the keys.

Do you still want to be notified about driver updates via Toshiba Tempro or Toshiba Service Station?
Then don?t remove such software

But as far as I know there is also another, additional software installed on the notebook.
For example: TOSHIBA Places, TOSHIBA Eco Utility, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor, etc?
All these tools provide some additional features, it?s your decision if you want to use it or not.

Dear All,

I have problem with my Satellite A215-S7422 (AMD)
I bought this unit included Windows Vista Home Premium+Recovery Disc inside the package.
I really enjoy the fitures of Vista, amazing !!!
But some programs I've had didn't support for Vista. That's a pity for me.
So, I tried to make new partition than installed Windows XP SP2.
The problem is my Vista wasn't appeared anymore.
So I tried to get back my Vista using my recovery disc. But unfortunately it didn't work at all.

Questions :
1. Can CD recovery didn't work if we split Harddrive (make some partitions) ?
2. My recovery disc file is .tib, so I try using Acronis Image, while I operating this program my notebook didn't detect DVD Drive. Than I try to copy the all file for both of Recovery Disc to empty partition, I can see the .tib file but it didn't work also. Can you explain what probably causes ?
3. If I format all drives than make it one drive, can Recovery Disc works?

Please do me a favour for this
Your assist will be appreciated.

Answer:Satellite A215-S7422 some questions regarding Toshiba Recovery disk

I?m not quite sure how it works on US series but I think it?s not very different to EU series.

1) No, you cannot split the HDD using the Recovery disk. The recovery disk will format the whole HDD and will create the partitions like at the beginning.
2) I doubt you can burn it using other 3rd party programs. Toshiba has installed Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator which should be used to burn the Recovery disk
3) As I said in point 1 -> Recovery disk will format the whole HDD. It?s no matter how many partitions are created on HDD. Everything will be erased

Hi all,

Thanks,

Peter

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-1NT (Satellite Pro A300-1GT) -- second hard drive

Hmm?. As far as I know you cannot use an second HDD in this notebook.
There could be an second HDD bay but this would not mean that an usage of second HDD would be possible.

What you have to know is that A300 series has been equipped with different motherboards and not all mobos provides an second HDD controller.
If you want you could remove the cover secured the second HDD bay and could check if connectors are available.

If not then you cannot connect and use the second HDD.

I have a new Toshiba Tecra A7. For some reason, Toshiba doesn't preload some utilities, including their Hotkey Utilities (you press the Fn key and mute, dim, brighten, etc. by pressing different F keys). So Toshiba sends the app for you to install separately.
Something is blocking the install of the Hotkey Utilities (HU) on my machine. I load the app. No errors during installation. But no success.
I've downloaded the app from Toshiba's web site and I've run that in case the app they sent me is corrupted. That doesn't work either.
Toshiba tech support thinks there's another program I have running/installed that's blocking the installation of HU. Of course, they have no guesses what it might be so they recommend running a recovery disk which would zero out all the development I've done. Big help.
I've done an internet search for this problem and found other frustrated users with different Toshiba machines. Here's one saga http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t50580.html

No solutions found so far. Any ideas?

Why does the Satellite A300-1EC stand dearer as Satellite A300-1EG, but on configuration loses him?

What is their substantial distinction in?
What model of notebook can advise, in this price range?

Answer:What is the difference between Satellite A300-1EC & Satellite A300-1EG

Hello

Satellite A300-1EC belongs to PSAG0E group and Satellite A300-1EC to PSAG4E. When this model numbers are different that means they don't have the same hardware configuration.

The first one has Intel 965GM (Crestline) graphic controller. The second one has ATI M82XT (256MB). The HDD capacity is not the same. The first one has 160 GB HDD and second one 250 GB.

So that is the difference between these A300 notebooks.

In my opinion the second one is better. You must make your decision and choose the right one.

Hello,

At the moment I am here in France and I am planning to buy a Satellite Pro A300 with an AZERTY keyboard (which is not exactly a problem for me at the moment). The problem will begin when I come back to my country where the keyboard layout is QWERTY. I plan to sell the laptop when I get back (I don't like hanging on to a laptop for a very long time). The thing is the Satellite A300 is officially sold in my country but not the Satellite Pro A300. I am now wondering if the keyboard for the A300 is compatible with the Pro A300 (looking at the forum threads for older models suggest that they are compatible but I am not completely sure).

Can anyone provide a definitive answer to this compatibility question?

Thanks!

Answer:Are the keyboards of Satellite Pro A300 and Satellite A300 the same?

The keyboard button layout doesn?t depend from the Satellite Pro or Satellite series but from the country where the notebook has been purchased.

Different countries need different keyboard button layouts and therefore the buttons are assigned to different positions on the keyboard.

But the keyboard itself could be used in Sat Pro or Satellite notebook too.
