Satellite U300 PSU30C - Toshiba flash cards and accessibility tools issue

Question: Satellite U300 PSU30C - Toshiba flash cards and accessibility tools issue

Hello,

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Another thing that i have tried is to return to factory state with the system recovery discs given by the futureshop that i got my toshiba from. I restarts my laptop with the disc inside the dvd reader. But i realise that the BIOS is actaully set to boot from harddrive. So i try to get get the boot list by pressing F2 or F12, but both F2 and F12 keys do not work because their functions are already relocated to the functions that you would have with "Fn" held down.

Would you please tell me if this is a known issue. Is there an update that can solve this problem? How do i find the utilities updates to my toshiba if my model is not listed on the support page? If none of the above is possible, would you please tell me how can i get to the boot list without pressing F2 or F12, so that i can use the recovery disc?

Cheers,
Chi

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite U300 PSU30C - Toshiba flash cards and accessibility tools issue

Hi

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook:
http://www.toshiba.ca => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-065 notebook with Mocrosoft Vista operating system. Every now and then, I get a message on top of my screen stating "Toshiba Flash Cards are not responding". I have to close the message before I can proceed. What could be the problem and how can this be resolved?

Would appreciate any help out there.

Answer:Toshiba Flash Cards issue with Satellite A100-065

Hi,

maybe because powersaving issues? Could be possible that the system is switching the flashcardreader or is stopping the flashcardservice due to this powersaving settings.

Just a little suggestion: remove all flashcard related tools/drivers, download the latest versions of that software from the toshiba website
(http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp) and reinstall it.

Maybe you can solve that error with performing a reinstall?

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I recently just rebooted my Satellite A200-195.

I found that my flash cards for my ?FN? hotkey function buttons have disappeared and do not pop up on top of the screen anymore.
However I am able to press the other function buttons on the keypad F1 - F8, part from the one that enables the mouse?F9?.

I have already uninstalled and installed the Value Added Package, Flash support utility and even tried to update the Bios but it seems my Bio is already the newest version.
After all this I seem to be able to enable my mouse pad ?F9? but my other function buttons are not working anymore and the flash cards still are not appearing like they use to.
Is there anything I can do to get my flash card to pop up back on screen without having to set my laptop back to factory default?

Answer:Satellite A200-195: TOSHIBA Flash Cards "black and white cards" not working

Have you tried to restart Flash cards?
Start > All programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards.

What you can also try is to install ?Flash cards support utility? if you can find it on Toshiba download page.

Resource Monitor shows 100% CPU usage constantly in recent weeks (not a problem for the first 6 months that i owned the machine) with 85-99% of my CPU being used on 2 entries each shown as "Toshiba Flash Cards", any idea why, and how I can sort this out as it slows everything down? many thanks

Answer:Satellite P200-1EE 100% CPU usage due to Toshiba Flash Cards

Are the correct ATI/nVidia graphics drivers installed? Make sure the Graphics card is not using standard VGA drivers in Device Manager.

Also try this:

1) uninstall the Toshiba Value Added Package in Control Panel -> Programs and features
2) Download and install the latest TVAP from the Toshiba Drivers/Support Website
3) Reboot.

Hello There,

I recently purchased a Satellite C660/C660D everything is fine, apart from one or two minor issues (which this thread is about). Firstly, The laptop was and still is littered with loads of TOSHIBA random software, below is a list:

+TOSHIBA Assist+
+TOSHIBA Bulletin Board+
+TOSHIBA ConfigFree+
+TOSHIBA Disc Creator+
+TOSHIBA Face Recognition+
+TOSHIBA Flash Cards Support Utility+
+TOSHIBA Hardware Setup+
+TOSHIBA HDD/SSD Alert+
+TOSHIBA Media Controller+
+TOSHIBA Media Controller Plug-in+
+TOSHIBA Online Product Information+
+TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator+
+TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator Reminder+
+TOSHIBA ReelTime+
+TOSHIBA Service Station+
+TOSHIBA Supervisor Password+
+Toshiba TEMPRO+
+TOSHIBA Value Added Package+
+TOSHIBA Web Camera Application+

Is there a pre made ISO recovery image somewhere or do I have to make my own, because if I decide to unisntall some of these programs I might need it at a later date?

The second issue is with the TOSHIBA Accessiblity application which shows the FN keys, it does not seem to start. It worked the first day then I disabled all TOSHIBA applications from startup and I get the following error: "Registry is missing or may be broken.", I dont know why!

I have tried cleaning the registry, so the registry isnt broken.

*Thanks in Advance*

Answer:Satellite C660 - TOSHIBA Accessibility Error

Hi Humza,

I?m happy to hear that you?re an owner of Toshiba notebook too and you discovered the forum here. We can discuss everything about Toshiba notebooks, that?s interesting :)

I will try to help you to sort this out:

1.Yes, there is a premade recovery image to restore factory settings with all driver and tools on your notebook but important is you burn this image on a blank DVD using preinstalled recovery media creator. You will get a disk with an image of Windows with all drivers and tools => ?out of box settings?. So the same settings as you purchased the computer.

2.I think the FN keys don?t work anymore because you disabled some important Toshiba tools they are necessary for FN keys. For FN keys the startup items ?TOSHIBA Button Support? and ?TOSHIBA Flash Cards? are absolutely necessary so you should enable them and restart the computer.

Got a Satellite U300 with Vista home premium
Got it a year ago almost and never used the SD card reader. Now I want to use it but can't find how to or why it doesn't work ?

Inserting a card in the card reader doesn't give any response at all.

Is there anything need to be turned on?
Any drivers that need to be installed (tried a SD read driver but no luck with that) ?
Is it software or machine error ?

Thank for answers.

Answer:Satellite U300 - Nothing happens when SD/SDHC cards are plugged in

Hi

Hmm?.. It?s difficult to say what?s wrong?
I think you should firstly figure out if you are using the compatible cards.
I don?t know what U300 you exactly have but some U300 supports these cards:

SD Card 8MB-2GB
SDHC Card 4GB
xD picture card 16MB-2GB
Memory Stick 8MB-256MB
Memory Stick Pro 256MB-2GB
MultiMediaCard 8MB-1GB
miniSD (with SD adapter) 32MB-2GB

Check if you used supported card.

Furthermore you should check the SD card reader status in device manger if there are some yellow exclamation marks. If yes, then this would mean that the device is not installed and running properly.

Hello dear forum users,

I have a BIOS virus and nothing seems to help. First I installed a BIOS version from 1.10 to 1.30(.exe), then I wiped my HDD completely and installed the newest version, which is 1.40. Now I can't reinstall the BIOS, because it says the version is the same as that installed on my laptop(1.40). Is there a flashable BIOS installation for this laptop? I couldn't find one in toshiba europe's driver page.

Hi,

one little suggestion: remove the FN-key software and install a downloaded version. Make sure that everything from that FN-key software was properly removed from the system, so you can be sure that nothing will disturb the newly installed version.

Earlier this week I had to boot in safemode due to some problems with McAfee. Since then, the drivers for the mousepad and the keyboard were messed up.
I have been able to find/download the drivers for the mousepad, so that works again as it should.

But i cannot find the driver for the keyboard. So at this time, the backlight doesn't work and the FN keys don't work.

In addition, Since then i can't use/access Toshiba Accessibility.

Please give the link to download Toshiba accessibility or the appropriate keyboard driver.

Thanks!

Hi

Did you install the right BIOS for the right OS?
You should know that Vista uses an different BIOS as the Windows XP!

Anyway, did you try to reinstall this Toshiba Flash Card Utility?
Please do this.

Firstly you should reinstall the Toshiba Common Modules and then the Flash Card Utility. Both programs can be found in the Toshiba Value added package.

Hello,

I have lost the program which e.g. I modified settings of the memory card reader and fan rpm.
For example memory card reader works only when laptop being in the charging. And you can set different fan rpm between battery use and charging (supply current).

Now I can't find this program anywhere. I think it was Toshiba's program but I'm not sure..

Thanks!

Answer:I have lost two Toshiba's programs for my Satellite U300

Hi there,

What are you talking about is two different facilities, one is a program and the other is an option within Windows. for the memory card reader, there are certain programs that vary on the manufacturer of the card-reader, if you are unsure, check the program name by locating the driver list for your Satellite U300 model on http://support.toshiba.ca/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp

As for the 'program' that changes your fan speed (rpm), click on the battery icon on the taskbar (i.e. near the clock in the bottom right hand corner), and select More power options, then 'Change plan settings' for the current plan you have selected, then click 'Change advanced power settings'. in the window that pops up, you should see TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings. Expand this option (i.e. Cooling Method) and to reduce or increase the fan speed select either Battery Optimized or Maximum Performance.

That should help you with your matter.

Regards.

I have problem with Vista - it became too slow so I want to recover to factory settings.

I went through the process described on [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm] and then instead of "Toshiba HDD recovery" as a last option - i have "Restore the complete Windows operating system" which is the last after "comand prompt". When I click on that I get another box with warning telling me "when you reinstall windows OS the hard drive will reformat and all data will be lost" and "if preinstalled files are damaged you can use the product recovery disc(which I didn't get)" and there is no next or any button except OK which I click and it just takes me back to the "Systems Recovery Option" list...

I also don't have Toshiba recovery disk creator - it was not preinstalled when I bought computer - although I had all other toshiba software.

And I know that I can buy recovery disk, but I don't feel like paying 30 bucks for something I already should got with computer - and my computer is still under warranty.

Hello, yesterday I downloaded a new driver for the Toshiba DVD player (only had the laptop a week or so).

Now when I attempt to play a DVD it tells me "Unable to output the video to an external device. Please switch your display device by pressing the Fn+F5 keys after ending the application"

Now, I have closed the dvd and then done as it said with the Fn+F5 keys but this seems to get me nowhere. It appears the laptop and lcd icons are highlighted.

Any suggestions please?

Answer:Satellite U300: Toshiba DVD player does not work properly

Hi mate,

it seems that the driver has some kind of problems. What you could try is to rollback the system to an earlier restore point.
With many luck you could play your DVD?s again with the Toshiba player, but I would suggest you to wait till the next update, maybe they will fix that issue.

You can alternatively use the "VideoLan" player which is freeware and probably one of the best available players which can play almost all existent formats. If you would like to try the player, then just go here -> www.videolan.org/

Otherwise you can perform a recovery, use the Toshiba DVD player and wait till toshiba releases a new update which works..

Ok. So I upgraded my Toshiba Satellite U300 laptop from Vista to 7 in October - mainly to end the issue I was having with the audio output device not working. My issue was resolved and I have had no problems until today. I turned on my laptop and there was that ominous red X over the speaker symbol in the lower right hand corner and when I mouse over it, it says, "No audio output device is installed."

I ran the troubleshooter and the results of the scan for hardware changes comes back with little yellow caution signs with exclamation points in them telling me there are problems but not giving me any help as to how to fix them.

I went to the Toshiba site and downloaded and ran the Realtek audio driver for windows vista/7, restarted the laptop and found no change.

Then I downloaded and ran the Conexant audio driver for vista/7, restarted the laptop and found no change.

When I go to Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Device Manager, there is NO Sound/Audio Driver in the list.

Is there anyone out there who can help me at all? I'm beyond the point of frustration over this.

It sounds like 2 key possibilities to me. Corrupted system files or faulty memory. I would try booting from your windows installation disk and running a windows repair. Hi there.
Like to first off apologise if this is the wrong place to post this topic, but put it down to been new here and the fact that at this point I'm tearing my hair out!!!...
Just recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427, which runs Vista Premium, and in the main I'm pretty pleased with it.
No major problems...at least none that don't resolve themselves eventually.
This was however not until I noticed that my Toshiba Flash Card, which host the hot keys and some computer functions and which should drop down only when you point your cursor at the top of the screen, developed a mind all of its own and from time to time decided to make an unsolicited apperance and drop down without been prompted!
As it usually happens when I have just finished clicking on something or touched my mouse, I thought it might have something to do with the external optical mouse I was using so off I went to buy another one but of course the darn thing still does the same thing with the new mouse.
I have found a way to disable the flash cards, but I would rather be able to make use of them rather than turning the fuction off completely because of the annoying 'drop down'.
Someone mentioned to me that it may be a conflict between a program I've installed since getting the computer and the flash card program, but as itunes is the only major add-on I have installed, I wonder!?!...
Could this be another classic case of vista gone bad, or is there something else?

Answer:toshiba flash cards

Hi, essejyar, and welcome to the forums.

Can you give us a picture of the *exact* error message, or else write down what it is saying exactly?

As far as multiple user environment, sorry, XP and Vista are both built on the NT kernel (and advances made to said kernel) which means they support multiple users by default. There are a couple of things you can do to make it less intrusive, like automating your login and such, and you can make it easier to use, like disabling UAC, but to protect you from your own self, I'd not recommend these at all.

I am a 20+ year veteran of using computers and I leave UAC on - because then I don't have to run Ad-aware and Spybot and Malwarebytes and Spywareguard and lock down my hosts file and all those other fun things you needed on XP to keep it relatively safe from intrusion and malware....

Sometimes, unexpectedly and probaby due to some mistake on my part, a message appears saying Toshiba flash cards not responding. What is this?

Answer:Toshiba flash cards don't response

I assume you are an owner of the notebook with the Vista OS. The Toshiba Flash card is preinstalled software which controls visually the FN buttons.

The Toshiba flash cards are placed at the upper display edge. Usually they are not visible but if you will move the courser over this display area the Flash Cards should appear.

I don?t know why the message appears saying the Toshiba flash cards do not response.
Maybe a reinstallation could helps.

I'm working on a friend's Toshiba Satelite L775-S7307. I've reformatted it, put on a shiny new copy of Windows 7 64bit, and installed many of the drivers required to run the hardware.

Now out of the blue, immediately when I turn on the computer, a window titled "TOSHIBA Flash Cards" pops up saying "Win8-TestVersion". You can then click OK or Cancel, both which do nothing more than close the window.

I did a search for the Flash Cards program on the computer but couldn't find anything and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I've attached a picture of the screen immediately after being booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Origin of Toshiba Flash Cards?

Might be the card reader driver for the laptop. Chances are, Windows Update automatically installed what it thought was the right driver and ended up trying the Windows 8 one instead.

Go to Device Manager and see if you can see anything about the card reader there?

Hello everyone,

Just a quick question. Is there any way that I can have the animation at the top of my screen turned off and STILL have the function keys functional? When I'm running multiple programs and/or on battery power, it takes forever for the animation to pop out and it's just an annoyance. Anything to fix it? Any other software to make them functional? Or any upgrades?

My system is Windows Vista, just in case someone wants to know.
Thank you,
Dave.

Hi there,

Can anyone help? I have had my U300 for a week and the first time I turned it on it had problems through the setup process of Vista.
It then seemed to rectify itself. I am now getting the dreaded blue screen with memory dump on it saying i need to restart the pc.

It then takes ages to restart it as the hardrive light flashes and then goes off.

Do u think I need to contact Toshiba as I have hardly installed any software on it ? or would u reinstalled Windows ?

Cheers
Becks

Answer:Satellite U300 - I get BSOD with memory dump issue

First of all you should use the Toshiba Recovery CD to reinstall the OS in this U300 Satellite.
Possibly it?s something wrong with the installed OS and new installation could helps to resolve this issue.

But if the same will happen after the new OS installation then you should contact the ASP in your country for a notebook check.

Best regards

Hi, everyone,

there may be a thread about this, but i could not find it.

I have the following problem: after the lat uptade from Microsoft (I believe the Fall Uptade...) everytime I try to shut the laptop down or restart it, I get the notification on the screen that Toshiba Flash Cards is preventing the computer from shutting down. I get two options - to cancel shutdown or force it. I tried turning the FN keys off from star up settings. However it did not help.

Has anybody ever had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I don't want to loose the FN keys, but i don't want to force a shutdown everytime either.

So any ideas?

Hi

I have a Satellite Pro U300 PSU31E and have problems with the critical bettery level and hibernate ever since I got it

It came supplied with Vista Business

The critical bettery level came set at 2% - the strage thing is if I hit hibernate (either via the power button or by start>hibernate) it hibernated ok - even at 2% battery remaining. However if I leave it to do it automatically (via Windows critical battery level and critical battery action) it just dies whilst hibernating - seems like it ran out of power. The only way I can get it to work automatically via Windows is by setting the critical battery level to 8% (it still dies whilst hibernating on anything less than 8%).

Normally you would just say ok the critical low level needs to be higher but a) why when I hibernate manually at less than 8% does it work perefectly and b) setting it at 8% loses me a good few minutes! and c) more importantly the computer or the battery dont think they're flat at 8% - the problem then is that it allows you to restart it. Then when the computer starts at less than 8% it has already missed its critical shut down point at 8% so just goes down and down with no further battery action until it dies. My XP laptop would shut down at 3% critical then the computer would know the battery is flat and not allow a restart until charged.

Is this a Vista or Toshiba thing?

Probably not the battery as I have 2 with exactly the same problem

I have all latest drivers for power... Read more

Answer:Re: Satellite Pro U300: Vista critical battery hibernate issue

Hi David

In my opinion it?s neither a Vista problem nor Satellite U300 issue.

The point is that the Vista OS needs a lot of hardware resources and more battery power as early Microsoft operating systems.

Fact is that same notebook with preinstalled Win XP would run much longer using the battery power as with Vista OS.
Vista is a monster and it eats all the hardware resources.

This means that if you use the Vista OS, you have to set that critical battery settings to a higher level to ensure that your notebook (Vista OS) would finish hibernate process correctly.

I think the last 2% of battery power are simply not enough to set the notebook into the hibernation mode.

So don't worry, lean back and enjoy your beautiful baby ;)

I bought a U300 last week and I'm finding that the volume control wheel doesn't seem to move very smoothly. It seems you have to push it in slightly to adjust the volume and when you release your finger the volume goes back in the direction you've moved it from slowly. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, when putting pressure above the express card slot the casing compresses. Does this happen on all U300s?

I would go back to the shop I bought it from and ask but I live quite some distance from it so I thought I would see if anyone here could help first. Any replied much appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite U300 - strange issue with volume control wheel

Hi,

sounds like the wheel is stuck and something around the wheel is blocking the volume wheel. I think the best idea is to return the machine like you said, since it?s very unusual what you?ve described.

You can also send your machine to an authorized service partner for a hardware checkup/repair.
If you need some help to find the nearest one in your country you can use the following link to find some:

Hey,

I've done some searching and it seems that both KeNotify.exe (Toshiba/Utilities) and TCrdMain.exe (Toshiba/Flashcards) are responsible for managing the Fn keys.

Could anyone please explain what each does separately, and what functionality will I loose if I remove them from startup?

Thanks a lot!

Answer:What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

Hi

From my knowledge the Flash Cards (visual FN button row at the top of the screen) appears pressing if one of the FN + F1-F9 key combination would be pressed.
If you remove both tools, I assume that this visual menu would not appear anymore and you will lose the FN button functionality.

But you can test this just for testing proposes without deleting both entries.
In search type msconfig. In msconfig choose Startup tab and here uncheck both exe files. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

If you want to get back these processes, access the Startup tab again and enable both processes once again.

Toshiba Flash Cards crashes on Vista when windows is set to use the "windows standard" colour scheme under appearance settings, (for your information, I prefer to use this mode as vista runs quicker, uses less battery power and less system ram in this mode).

However it does not crash immediately, instead it seems to crash whenever I rotate the screen (which happens quite often as I?m using a tablet pc) with the previous version of the software it crashed on boot however that seems to have been rectified with this version although not completely, however when it crashes it will not fully close even if i force task manager to end the process (rather than just the task).

Where can I find these tools? (I did find the Archive section, but there these tools aren't listed :-(

Hi everyone,
I own Satellite Pro M50, listed as discontinued model on Toshiba's official site - drivers and tools provided by Toshiba are only for XP, and several ones for Vista.

I installed Windows 7 32bit and I'm very pleased with speed of the computer now. Windows 7 was able to detect my devices (display, usb, wifi, lan) and updated drivers successfully. Everything seems to work OK by now.

Problem is with Toshiba tools.
MasterG (to whom I'm already very thankful, but I didn't find a way how to address him directly) has advised other user with older model (M100-221) to use VAP and Flash Card Support Utility for L500 series.

I tried it, and the Flash Card Support utility worked. Now I can use the Fn-key.

There are also some Toshiba features I would like to run: Power Saver, TouchPad utility, and so on. How could I find out which model has tools that could work as a substitute for my one or was it only coincidence that it worked?

Thanks a lot in advance, and greetings to whole toshiba community, I'm really delighted with this support forums.

Hi bevo,

It?s nice to hear that you managed Windows 7 installation successful on your Satellite Pro M50 and you also like the forum as me. :)

What tools you want exactly?
There are some differences between XP and Windows 7 tools. For example Power Saver is already a part of Value Added Package and you can find the power saver settings in Windows Power Management of Windows.

The touchpad utility you can download from other notebooks. As far as I know Synaptics and Alps Electric driver should work on every model but you must test it, I don?t have Satellite Pro M50.

Furthermore such a list of compatible tools is not known to me. Just try it.
Important is that you install Windows 7 versions or at least for Vista. I think XP tools don?t work.

Hi all.

I have a problem with Toshiba Flash Cards software.
When it starts I've received an error "R6025 - pure virtual function call", and then the microsoft alert that Toshiba Flash Cards software stopped working

I'm using Windows Vista Business 32 bit OS, and I've downloaded new version of Toshiba Flash Cards software (v.2.00.05), but it doesn't solve the problem.

Could somebody help?

Answer:Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

Hi

It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software ?Microsoft Money?.

Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240437]

I would recommend doing this:

1. Disable the Flash cards
2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
- regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll

- regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

Hello Dave

Until Windows 7 is still in Beta phase and not officially on the market Toshiba and, I believe, any other notebook manufacturer will not offer support for Windows 7.
I believe you that some tools or utilities work well but it is nothing but luck.

All tools and utilities must be prepared and tested for new operating system. When you download VAP there is must be chosen OS and you can download it for Vista only. So if some tool works is nice but if not there is nothing you can do. Just to wait, like me and many other people who have installed Windows 7 for testing purposes.

Where do I start, planned to upgrade , brand new machine to Vista Business as I need to connect to domain - Vista home prem (OEM) is no good.

Checked with tech support who advised me to download drivers from the site which i did (why are they not supplied with the machine?)

Upgraded system, tried to install ATI driver it fails ! (notice this driver has been removed from the site). Password Utility fails (reporting wrong serial no), sd utility fails (reporting wrong serial no). Value added packages fails to install all components, specifically (TOSHIBA components common driver, and TOSHIBA Flash cards).

Tried tech support, who advised to upgrade bios, however that also failed!

*So now have amachine that will not read flash cards, no function keys work, and the toshiba diagnotic tool does not work.*

Apparently this has now been escalated, but have to say, it very disapointing that there are not clear instructions on this process, as I presume there will be many users who wish to upgrade the same path as I am trying to do.

Any advice or help in the meatime would be greatfully appreciated !

Answer:Satellite P200-17C: Cannot install some Toshiba Vista tools

Hi

>it very disapointing that there are not clear instructions on this process
First of all I wonder why you said something like that ?:|
I think you are not newbie and should be able to install some simply drivers. Or I?m wrong?
You have visited the Toshiba European driver page then you have noticed that there are different P200 series.
Hopefully you have downloaded the right drivers for the right series. The P200-17C belongs to the PSPB6E. Check this!!!

Furthermore I have found a installation instruction txt file on the driver page. Seems you didn?t see it!
You have to follow the installation order mentioned in this txt file!!!

Good luck

Hi I was wondering if my applications that were pre installed on my Toshiba Satellite A500 would transfer across on a custom install of Windows 7.

I have done a upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium but I want to do a full install on Windows 7 as I feel the upgrade does not operate as good as a full install of a OS.

Answer:Satellite A500 - Toshiba tools after new Windows 7 installation

Hi,

As i know, if you make a full install everything will be wiped on local disk C: and you will have to install all application/drivers again.

Alright guys

I am hoping that someone can help with please. I notice that my Toshiba Satellite L750 came with a lot of pre installed software such as Toshiba disc creator and so on. I can give you the full list if need be..But unfortunately as few days ago I had to reinstall windows which wiped everything out.

Now I am wondering how to get them all back?

Answer:Satellite L750 - Missing Toshiba tools and utilities

Most of them you can download from Toshiba download page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Visit this page and check what you can download and install additionally.

If you have more questions you are welcome.

Answer:toshiba satellite pro 4600 network cards

What type of modem have you got,USB or RJ45? Or have you got a router? Ideally, to save yourself a lot of time and for performance you should consider a wireless router.

Hello everybody,

I bought a Windows 7 upgrade to Toshiba.

And I have 2 DVD :
1 for the Toshiba upgrade and 1 for the Windows upgrade.

I have run the 2 first steps without problems.

But when I have run the 3rd step (which is the upgrade of the Toshiba tools), an error occured and I wanted to cancel thee process (I have even removed the CD from the CD reader) but the process kept running.

In conclusion the process went to the end but no tools are installed and when I want to run the CD again it acts as if all the tools are already installed and it doesn't run.

What can I do for the system to consider that the tools are not installed ?

Or where can I find another install program which will run the Toshiba tools on my system ?

Thank you very much.

Laurent.

I had to format my laptop last night due to a nasty virus.
I have re-installed vista using the recovery cd and have installed all the windows updates that were available.

What about the updates that come from Toshiba? Are they downloaded as part of the windows update or do i have to download them seperately from the Toshiba support pages?

Also how do i know which ones are most important?

Answer:Satellite P200-1EE: What to do with updated Toshiba tools on driver site

If yes, you don?t need to update any tools!

Hi,

this is what I want to do, so... please help!

I just buy myself new TOSHIBA SATELLITE X200-21K notebook, and I want to format it, and... to install Windows Vista Ultimate (Not Windows Vista Home Premium from Product Recovery DVD-ROM).

I was downloaded all drivers from...

http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

... but I can't find "Installation Instructions" to download anywhere, so I can install it in right order, unless... if "Please click here to download manuals." is the "Installation Instructions", if not... please... where can I download that instructions!?

So... after I do this format and install new Vista Ultimate, I will not have... original TOSHIBA Tools which arrived with Product Recovery DVD-ROM, do I actually loose something with that, like... soft for Web Cam or TOSHIBA Assist or TOSHIBA Zooming Utility or Protector Suite QL.. and so on... can I go without that?

Can I install or download just this soft from elsewhere, after I install Vista Ultimat, maybe from Product Recovery DVD-ROM, but how?

Is it just Windows Vista Home Premium version that come
with this Product Recovery DVD-ROM, or... all version of Vista comes in this DVD, and You could pick which version You want to install?

I hope someone will help me with my "problem"!?

Thank You so much!

Best Regards

Hello everybody,

I have purchased a pre-order of Windows 7 Professional for my laptop and would like to upgrade it from Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it at the moment.

However, I just have one question :

- Do you think I will be able to upgrade from Windows Vista Home to Windows 7 Professional without a full install ?
- Else, if I have to perform a full install, then is it possible to install the Toshiba tools and utilities from the CD (I have not found anything to do this) ?

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite P100-488 - Installing Toshiba tools and utilities on Windows 7

Hi Fred

As I can see you have two questions. ;)

At first I must say that I don't believe anybody here will be able to offer exact answers but here is my opinion:

Q1 ? for OS installation I prefer full installation but I think you will be able to make Win7 upgrade. Problem is how the Toshiba tools and utilities will work after this upgrade. As far as I know in the past Toshiba has suggested removing some tools and utilities before upgrade installation starts.
So maybe you should think about full OS installation. I think it is better solution for you.

Q2 ? I the whole story I see one problem ? what if Toshiba will not offer Win7 support for your notebook model? Then you will have problem and just try to use Vista stuff in hope it will works with Win7 too. Anyway, in this forum you can find many postings where people confirm that most of Vista stuff runs well with Win7.

Good luck Fred.

Please help

I purchased 2 of these laptops for my boys for high school. They came loaded with Windows 7 although I received an offer to update to Windows 8 for a special price which I did.

In the process of doing this it instructed me that there were some conflicts with some programs that I had to uninstall and then reinstall afterwards.

The programs I had to delete were:
Toshiba Disc Creator
Toshiba Face Recognition
Toshiba Health Monitor
Intel USB 3.0
Extensible Host Control Driver
Toshiba LAN Indicator
Toshiba Recovery Media Creator

Where do I find these programs to download? I did look up Toshiba and entered the computer model but it didn't recognise the last part of the model (PSK DLA).
I just want to make sure I am downloading the correct programs again.

I am also now having a problem with playing videos after downloading WIndows 8. I can hear the sound but I don't get the picture. This is also happening on my HP laptop. I am using the Radeon Graphics AMD (sorry, I know this is going to show that I have a computer with no idea).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Answer:Satellite L850 PSKDLA: Need Toshiba tools which were removed before Win 8 upgrade

Hi

All Windows 8 drivers are available on Toshiba EU driver page.
If some tools are missing then this means that such tools don?t exist for Win 8 at this time.

Regarding:
>Toshiba Recovery Media Creator
This is only a part of Toshiba image. The recovery disk creator creates recovery image from the system preinstalled by Toshiba. If you upgraded the system to Win 8, you will need to use another tools to create an system image.

Here also a nice documentation - Windows 8 Upgrade - Notes and Restrictions
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03EL0000R02.htm

By the way: Some drivers for Win 7 are compatible with Win 8
So you can also install the Intel USB 3.0 driver which was released for Win 7 on Windows 8 preinstalled notebook.

Hello All,

Just bought Toshiba Model: A135-S4677...at Circuit City. I see that the Google Toolbar is already installed. Probably installed by Circuit City and not Toshiba. Has anyone tried to uninstall this bloatware?

I have not yet tried uninstall. I can only think that this would not be a simple uninstall thru the Windows uninstall program.

Has anyone had experience doing the removal? Also,
Are there any other preinstalled programs that could slow down the notebooks resources... that should be unstalled?

Thanks everyone for your help.

where?s the problem, just uninstall that google stuff. My mum had it on her machine (which us actually not from toshiba) and I just removed it. Everything went fine and the machine works perfectly.

If you got some other questions, feel free to ask.

Hello everyone,

recently switched to Windows Vista with my Satellite M30X.
Unfortunately I cannot manage my power options, because Windows doesn't let me to do so with reference to using original Toshiba power tools instead, but those I received along with my laptop are not compatible with Vista.
There are no files available in this category on Toshiba download site.

Do you have any ideas where to get these tools? Either Toshiba or something different, but still compatible with Toshiba and Vista?
Or at least how to enable inbuilt advanced power management options in Windows?

Thanks a lot for any advice!

Hi

The Toshiba Power saver for Vista was not released for Satellite M30X and it looks like you have to use the Vista own power options.
But to be honest the Vista own power options are not bad and could be configured easily.

1. Under 'bundled software' at the link above, it states that the "Toshiba Value Added Package" is included but I do not see this CD/DVD in the box. (My Equium L10 had a Value Added CD in the box).

Toshiba User's Manual
Norton Internet Security 2007 (includes free Internet updates for 90 days)
Ulead DVD MovieWriter for TOSHIBA

Chicony Camera Assistant Software
Toshiba DVD Player

The Toshiba value added package is a collection of different single Toshiba applications like TOSHIBA Components Common Driver, TOSHIBA Power Saver, TOSHIBA Password Utility, TOSHIBA Flash Cards, etc?

All this applications are already installed on the Toshiba image which is placed on the Toshiba recovery CD.

>Microsoft Windows HotStart for instant-on entertainment
As far as I know Windows Hotstart in the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system provides built-in support for launching applications directly from system startup.
Manufacturers can take advantage of Windows HotStart to add consumer-friendly application-access buttons through chassis front panels.
In your case this are the Toshiba control buttons for example.

>What CD/DVD writing software is included?

There should be an preinstalled tool called Toshiba Disc creator.
Using this too you can create original audio CD, data CD and DVD and backup discs of CD and DVD

The FN key flashcards (that drop down from the top of screen) worked nicely for the first week of using this new notebook, they seemed to disappear by themselves (windows updates are the devil, so I point the finger at that) and I've spent an inordinate amount of time resolving this issue.

I have downloaded the latest TVAP and flashcard utility from Toshiba support. installed tvap and then rebooted and then ran the flash card utility installer which uninstalled the utility and then rebooted and then reran the utility installer, rebooted and still no joy.

my FN keys are still working, but without the flash card I cant see where im scrolling through wifi/bluetooth on/off.

What else can be done once tvap and flash card utility have been installed?

Answer:Re: Satellite A500 - Flash Cards don't appear

Hey,

I had a similar problem that Flash Cards didn?t appear anymore... As far as I know it was related to an additional software that I installed? If I remember rightly, it was VMware?

So if you install this program remove it. Furthermore make sure that Flash Cards Support Utility and Value Added Package will be started properly.

Before you install newest versions, remove the old one firstly and start CCleaner to clean up the registry.

I hope it helps!

(Running Vista Home Basic on a Satellite L30)

The Flash Cards utility only really works if I use it soon after starting up my laptop. I often want to change the machine brightness after I've been using the machine for an hour or so, but the utility either ignores my attempts to move the slider down on the brightness setting, or shows it as at the lowest setting already (when it's actually at max).

So far the only solution I have found is to restart the machine! I cannot even seem to restart the programs instead--I can hunt it down in task manager and close it, right enough.... but then double clicking on TCrdMain.exe does nothing and the blooming thing won't reopen.

How do I restart the utility? And, have there been any updates to make this any more stable?

Answer:Flash cards (TCrdMain.exe) keeps crashing on Satellite L30

As far as I know you can disable and enable this Toshiba flash card under Programs -> Toshiba -> Utilities -> Settings for Flash Cards
Check this maybe it helps.

But usually the flash cards service can be enabled and disabled in the ?computer management?. Under ?Services? choose the Flash card service and start it again!!!

That?s a bit strange. When you remove VAP from the system and install latest version from Toshiba download page everything should work properly again.

I have a Toshiba A200 1s5 notebook with Vista Home Premium preinstalled. c2d [email protected], 2GB RAM.

The problem is that flash cards utility is very slow. It takes quite a lot of time from when I press the FN button until the cards appear. Plus the entire utility runs slow. Sometimes it won't even appear. I understood you really need these flash cards to use the function keys without which they won't work.

Is there any known issues with this utility or should I just try reinstalling it? I have this problem since I bought the notebook and I never did a reinstall or a recovery. So all the software that came with it is original.

Excuse my bad English.

Hello,

I own a Toshiba Satellite L750 PSK1WA-03C00R and my flash cards do not work, the function keys work, but my flash cards do not.

This model does not come with the Flash Card Support Utility, it does however come with the Value Added Package.

I have uninstalled, CCleaned and reinstalled and repeated mulitple times, trying to get this to work properly. I have also restarted after each of these steps.

I can't figure the problem out and thought that I'd see what you guys' recommend before I resort to getting Toshiba's support services.

I also do not want to have to resort to a system restore, but, if I really have to and have no choice, I will when I can.

I hope someone may be able to help me and do look forward to what support you can offer me.
Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking, Toshiba Flash Card utility is part of Value Added Package so you will not find this utility for download.

Please check if you can find start > all programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards option and click on it. Still the same problem? Can you open settings for Flash cards?

There is also option called: Allow the mouse to bring up the cards. Does this option work?

It is strange. On Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads you can find drivers for Vista 64-bit.
Windows 7 is still in beta phase and still not available on the market. So support is still not started for it. To be honest I don't believe some other notebook manufacturers have started with Windows 7 support.

I have recently Installed Windows 7 64 bit onto my Mother's Laptop (L500 - PSLJ0A-01E013) and from downloading either version of flash cards from the support site ( [here|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/l500/pslj0a-01e013/download?os=25] )

Results in (from what I can tell) only kenotify.exe and the relevant install info being created. Using the other one results in the original one being uninstalled, and then the same thing happening. While kenotify is running, noting happens if I use FN-F6 (brightness down) or FN-F7 (bright up) or any of the other ones.

Also, Toshiba support station doesn't seem to find any "updates" for the software, and it doesn?t even want me to download the BIOS update which I haven't got.

Thanks!

Is there any way to turn on wireless on a Satellite L505 without the flashcard utility?
I've upgraded to Windows 10 and flashcards will not install/work. Oddly, if I go into the bios and turn off wireless, then reboot and turn it on, it works. But after a reboot, wireless is off again and I have to go through the bios change to get it to work again.

What I would give to have the hardware switch on this one.

Answer:Satellite L505 and Win10 - Wirelss Without Flash Cards

Maybe stupid question now but do you have this problems if you use stand-by or hibernation mode?
I mean if this work don't switch your notebook off but you can often use hibernation mode.

Some function like WLAN enable/disable are controlled by additional software and your old machine will probably not supported for Win10 so I think you will not be able to fix this.

Where did you download the Win7 TVAP from?

Maybe a BIOS update would help.

I am using windows 7 ultimate x64 on L500-126, the new win7 x64 drivers have been available since yesterday.....

However, the Flash cards (Fn Hotkeys) still doesn't work after the installation of the new VAP. The flash cards is able to show up at the top of my screen, I can click them by mouse, but the Fn combinations does not work at all!

I've noticed that there is a downloadable driver called "Flash Cards support", even I installed this application the problem still remained.

Then I uninstalled VAP and kept "Flash Cards support", to my surprise, the combination of Fn+F6 and F7 (Adjusting brightness) worked! however, without VAP I could not use other combinations.

Are there still problems with the new VAP for win 7 x64?

P.S. The new "Hardware setup" seems to be a problem as well, I tried to change some configurations in this application but after re-boot all the options went back.

Hello,

I recently bought a Satellite C55-C-1F6 (PSCPAE) in a french store (Darty). The computer was running Windows 10 Home, but I didn't want to use this system. So I installed Windows 7 Pro, and it works great. Except hotkeys. By the way, Hotkeys are working (Fn + F1, F2, F3, ...), but nothing appears on the screen, and I don't find the right "driver" to install for the feature.
Anybody knows what is the program I need to run to have these visual notifications when I use these hotkeys ? I found some information about Flash Cards, but nothing on the "downloads & drivers" page on the Toshiba's web site (except a "Function keys" program for Windows 8 only, which disabled some hotkeys when I tried it on W7).

Thanks in advance !

Hello all

I have recently purchased a Satellite A200-1DA which has the Toshiba value added package installed. I find the top of screen drop down buttons very annoying is there any way of disabling the drop down buttons without losing their uses accessed from the number buttons.

Answer:Satellite A200-1DA: How to disable Flash Cards without losing FN keys

Please check Toshiba download page for updates and install latest version for your notebook model. With new version those flash cards will be shown much faster.
