Qosmio F50-108 - Toshiba Flash Cards does not work with Windows 7

Question: Qosmio F50-108 - Toshiba Flash Cards does not work with Windows 7

anyone tried to install Windows Seven ? I tried it.
Everything works fine (Wlan, Lan, Sound, etc), but one thing is unable to work on my laptop: Toshiba Flash Cards.
I installed driver and nothing happened...

Any idea to solve this problem? Because I usually used it in Vista.

Preferred Solution: Qosmio F50-108 - Toshiba Flash Cards does not work with Windows 7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Qosmio F50-108 - Toshiba Flash Cards does not work with Windows 7

The Toshiba Flash Cards has been designed for the Windows Vista only

The Windows 7 is very similar to the Vista and many drivers could and would run with Windows 7 but in very rare cases some tools would be not fully compatible?

The Toshiba Flash Cards is not a driver; it?s a utility which seems to be not compatible with Windows 7?

I just installed vap-20080108132320, and now Toshiba Flash Cards won't load. I get the following error in my Application log:

Faulting application TCrdMain.exe, version, time stamp 0x470dae48, faulting module TCrdMain.exe, version, time stamp 0x470dae48, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00011299, process id 0x14f0, application start time 0x01c85521e7cfc470.

I also would like to know how NOT to get localized installations. I got English Windows Vista, but the VAP installs as a localized version, in my case Norwegian, and I don't want that!

?:| ?. The Toshiba drivers and all the tools can be downloaded from the Toshiba European driver page:

There you can choose the notebooks series and the language.

Regarding the installation issue;
Possibly you have chosen the wrong utility version or for wrong series. Please note that the common modules are necessary and must be installed firstly.

If you uninstall Flashcards, the Function (Fn) Keys may not work anymore.

But anyway if you really need to uninstall it, go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, and Modify the Toshiba Value Added Package features.

So, I purchased and installed Vist 64. I dowloaded all the driver off Toshiba's site and installed them. During one session the flashcards worked, and then never again. Since then I have uninstalled and re-installed the flash cards support utlity along with the value added package several times - no luck.

Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this little problem?

Best regards,

Answer:Qosmio X300 - Vista 64 - Flash cards don't work properly

The Toshiba European driver page provides the Flash Cards Support Utility and for Win Vista 64bit.

Usually the Flash Cards should work properly after new reinstallation.
Maybe there are some wrong registry entries which should be clean.

You can clean the registry using the CCleaner.
So I recommend this workaround:

First of all remove the VAP and Flash Cards Support Utility.
Then reboot the notebook.
Then clean the OS and the registry using the CCLeaner. (do it several times)
Then reboot the notebook.
Then install firstly the VAP and then Flash Cards Support Utility

Good luck

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I recently just rebooted my Satellite A200-195.

I found that my flash cards for my ?FN? hotkey function buttons have disappeared and do not pop up on top of the screen anymore.
However I am able to press the other function buttons on the keypad F1 - F8, part from the one that enables the mouse?F9?.

I have already uninstalled and installed the Value Added Package, Flash support utility and even tried to update the Bios but it seems my Bio is already the newest version.
After all this I seem to be able to enable my mouse pad ?F9? but my other function buttons are not working anymore and the flash cards still are not appearing like they use to.
Is there anything I can do to get my flash card to pop up back on screen without having to set my laptop back to factory default?

Answer:Satellite A200-195: TOSHIBA Flash Cards "black and white cards" not working

Have you tried to restart Flash cards?
Start > All programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards.

What you can also try is to install ?Flash cards support utility? if you can find it on Toshiba download page.

I have a Satellite A500 PSAM3A-04200E. Recently I did an upgrade from Vista to Win 7. I used my system restore disks to reinstall Vista and then did the upgrade to Windows 7 using the upgrade assistant.

I find that I can no longer use the Fn key to enable/disable features..

I have tried downloading the VAP and running it. I have also tried the Start->Toshiba->Utilities->Restart Flash Cards. Neither of these have worked even after a restart...

Can anyone give me some pointers on what to do next?

Answer:Satellite A500 - Flash Cards don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

Hi buddy,

If you have already reinstalled Toshiba Value Added Package, you should also (re)install ?Flash Cards Support Utility?. This tool controls the FN keys and is necessary to get them working.

You can download it on official Toshiba website:

Hi there.
Like to first off apologise if this is the wrong place to post this topic, but put it down to been new here and the fact that at this point I'm tearing my hair out!!!...
Just recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427, which runs Vista Premium, and in the main I'm pretty pleased with it.
No major least none that don't resolve themselves eventually.
This was however not until I noticed that my Toshiba Flash Card, which host the hot keys and some computer functions and which should drop down only when you point your cursor at the top of the screen, developed a mind all of its own and from time to time decided to make an unsolicited apperance and drop down without been prompted!
As it usually happens when I have just finished clicking on something or touched my mouse, I thought it might have something to do with the external optical mouse I was using so off I went to buy another one but of course the darn thing still does the same thing with the new mouse.
I have found a way to disable the flash cards, but I would rather be able to make use of them rather than turning the fuction off completely because of the annoying 'drop down'.
Someone mentioned to me that it may be a conflict between a program I've installed since getting the computer and the flash card program, but as itunes is the only major add-on I have installed, I wonder!?!...
Could this be another classic case of vista gone bad, or is there something else?

Hi, essejyar, and welcome to the forums.

Can you give us a picture of the *exact* error message, or else write down what it is saying exactly?

As far as multiple user environment, sorry, XP and Vista are both built on the NT kernel (and advances made to said kernel) which means they support multiple users by default. There are a couple of things you can do to make it less intrusive, like automating your login and such, and you can make it easier to use, like disabling UAC, but to protect you from your own self, I'd not recommend these at all.

I am a 20+ year veteran of using computers and I leave UAC on - because then I don't have to run Ad-aware and Spybot and Malwarebytes and Spywareguard and lock down my hosts file and all those other fun things you needed on XP to keep it relatively safe from intrusion and malware....

I have exhausted suggestions on the internet trying to solve this issue.

The Function key does not bring up flash cards. If I use the mouse, they work fine, and I can use the function key to take a screenshot, but it doesn't work for backlights, mute, brightness etc.

I have just fully rebuilt the PC from scratch because of what I think was a HD problem. It may have been the 6 year old Windows installation, but the old D: drive is now the C: drive and everything else is working fine.

I have installed Value Added Pack, Toshibe Function Keys, and Flash Cards, and all the software is there and running as expected, just not with the function key.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hello everyone,

Just a quick question. Is there any way that I can have the animation at the top of my screen turned off and STILL have the function keys functional? When I'm running multiple programs and/or on battery power, it takes forever for the animation to pop out and it's just an annoyance. Anything to fix it? Any other software to make them functional? Or any upgrades?

My system is Windows Vista, just in case someone wants to know.

Answer:Toshiba flash cards don't response

I assume you are an owner of the notebook with the Vista OS. The Toshiba Flash card is preinstalled software which controls visually the FN buttons.

The Toshiba flash cards are placed at the upper display edge. Usually they are not visible but if you will move the courser over this display area the Flash Cards should appear.

I don?t know why the message appears saying the Toshiba flash cards do not response.
Maybe a reinstallation could helps.

I'm working on a friend's Toshiba Satelite L775-S7307. I've reformatted it, put on a shiny new copy of Windows 7 64bit, and installed many of the drivers required to run the hardware.

Now out of the blue, immediately when I turn on the computer, a window titled "TOSHIBA Flash Cards" pops up saying "Win8-TestVersion". You can then click OK or Cancel, both which do nothing more than close the window.

I did a search for the Flash Cards program on the computer but couldn't find anything and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I've attached a picture of the screen immediately after being booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Origin of Toshiba Flash Cards?

Might be the card reader driver for the laptop. Chances are, Windows Update automatically installed what it thought was the right driver and ended up trying the Windows 8 one instead.

Go to Device Manager and see if you can see anything about the card reader there?

Hi, everyone,

there may be a thread about this, but i could not find it.

I have the following problem: after the lat uptade from Microsoft (I believe the Fall Uptade...) everytime I try to shut the laptop down or restart it, I get the notification on the screen that Toshiba Flash Cards is preventing the computer from shutting down. I get two options - to cancel shutdown or force it. I tried turning the FN keys off from star up settings. However it did not help.

Has anybody ever had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I don't want to loose the FN keys, but i don't want to force a shutdown everytime either.

So any ideas?

After finally being able to launch Toshiba Flash Cards ( [see thread|] ), I just discovered that Fn+key does not activate any of the functions!

Activating them using the mouse and click the correct card does however work as expected.

I also discovered that adding the Raid console to my Flash Cards causes FC to crash!

User Account Control (UAC) prevents the Fn-keys to work. By disabling UAC, I can use the Flash Cards. But I suggest Toshiba better find another solution for this, as disabling UAC lowers the security!

I've done some searching and it seems that both KeNotify.exe (Toshiba/Utilities) and TCrdMain.exe (Toshiba/Flashcards) are responsible for managing the Fn keys.

Could anyone please explain what each does separately, and what functionality will I loose if I remove them from startup?

Thanks a lot!

Answer:What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

From my knowledge the Flash Cards (visual FN button row at the top of the screen) appears pressing if one of the FN + F1-F9 key combination would be pressed.
If you remove both tools, I assume that this visual menu would not appear anymore and you will lose the FN button functionality.

But you can test this just for testing proposes without deleting both entries.
In search type msconfig. In msconfig choose Startup tab and here uncheck both exe files. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

If you want to get back these processes, access the Startup tab again and enable both processes once again.

You can set it back if something will go wrong?.

You can try it.
Disable this background process in ?msconfig? a then boot the machine again.
After this short procedure you could check in task manager if the Tcrdmain.exe was disabled and if the notebook runs trouble free.

Toshiba Flash Cards crashes on Vista when windows is set to use the "windows standard" colour scheme under appearance settings, (for your information, I prefer to use this mode as vista runs quicker, uses less battery power and less system ram in this mode).

However it does not crash immediately, instead it seems to crash whenever I rotate the screen (which happens quite often as I?m using a tablet pc) with the previous version of the software it crashed on boot however that seems to have been rectified with this version although not completely, however when it crashes it will not fully close even if i force task manager to end the process (rather than just the task).

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook: => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

Hi all.

Hardware: Toshiba Tecra S5-14R
I have a problem with Toshiba Flash Cards software.
When it starts I've received an error "R6025 - pure virtual function call", and then the microsoft alert that Toshiba Flash Cards software stopped working

I'm using Windows Vista Business 32 bit OS, and I've downloaded new version of Toshiba Flash Cards software (v.2.00.05), but it doesn't solve the problem.

Could somebody help?

Answer:Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software ?Microsoft Money?.

Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|]

I would recommend doing this:

1. Disable the Flash cards
2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
- regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
- regsvr32 sccbase.dll
- regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

4. Enable the Flash Card Utility again

Answer:Qosmio F30-140 - Toshiba front buttons don't work

On the Toshiba European driver page choose the F30 PQF32 series.
There you can find the Common Module and Controls.

These both software parts have to be installed to get the Toshiba control buttons working!!!

Hello everybody

I have Windows Vista 64-bit installed on my Qosmio F30, but the front operation buttons are not working.
I tried to use the Vista 32-bit configuration drivers but when I press any, I receive the following error :"this function not supported".

So please can any one help me to overcome this problem.

Answer:Qosmio F30: Toshiba control buttons don't work on Vista 64bit

You cannot use these Toshiba control buttons (play, pause, etc) because the necessary drivers are not installed.

You will need a compatible Vista Value Added package but it seems that Toshiba page does not provide the 64bit VAP but only 32bit version.
The problem is that the software for 32bit Vista does not function on Vista 64bit OS.

So in my opinion there is nothing to do at this time

I own a Toshiba Satellite L750 PSK1WA-03C00R and my flash cards do not work, the function keys work, but my flash cards do not.

This model does not come with the Flash Card Support Utility, it does however come with the Value Added Package.

I have uninstalled, CCleaned and reinstalled and repeated mulitple times, trying to get this to work properly. I have also restarted after each of these steps.

I can't figure the problem out and thought that I'd see what you guys' recommend before I resort to getting Toshiba's support services.

I also do not want to have to resort to a system restore, but, if I really have to and have no choice, I will when I can.

I hope someone may be able to help me and do look forward to what support you can offer me.
Thanks in advance.

Answer:Flash Cards do not work on my Satellite L750

Generally speaking, Toshiba Flash Card utility is part of Value Added Package so you will not find this utility for download.

Please check if you can find start > all programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards option and click on it. Still the same problem? Can you open settings for Flash cards?

There is also option called: Allow the mouse to bring up the cards. Does this option work?

I am using windows 7 ultimate x64 on L500-126, the new win7 x64 drivers have been available since yesterday.....

However, the Flash cards (Fn Hotkeys) still doesn't work after the installation of the new VAP. The flash cards is able to show up at the top of my screen, I can click them by mouse, but the Fn combinations does not work at all!

I've noticed that there is a downloadable driver called "Flash Cards support", even I installed this application the problem still remained.

Then I uninstalled VAP and kept "Flash Cards support", to my surprise, the combination of Fn+F6 and F7 (Adjusting brightness) worked! however, without VAP I could not use other combinations.

Are there still problems with the new VAP for win 7 x64?

P.S. The new "Hardware setup" seems to be a problem as well, I tried to change some configurations in this application but after re-boot all the options went back.

So my daughter wanted to get rid of her old laptop and sell it so I wiped the hardrive. Now she wants to re-install the OS. The recovery partition is gone so I cant use that to re-install Win7

The laptop came with Win7 Premimum 64 bit. I tried to go to the MS Recovery Center to d/l Win 7 Premimum but her product key does not work the site told us to contact Toshiba.

My first question is the image that the laptop an OEM vs Retail I assume its OEM since we didnt purchase the os seperatly, Does this explain why the product key does not work.

Second if I have a OEM copy of Win7 Premimum can I use that and install that on her laptop with her product key.

Third where can I d/l a copy of Win7 Premimum 64bit iso.

Sorry for the long winded first post but Ive got to fix this for her, Thanks for your help.

Answer:Need help installing Windows 7 on Toshiba Qosmio X770

Everything is here to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7. Over 1.5 million consumers have followed it without a single complaint. They have the best installs of Win7 in the world.

Yes you can use your OEM copy of Win7 Home Premium as long as its the needed bit version. Use 64 bit for 3gb more RAM, 32 bit for less than 3gb RAM. It also needs to be the actual Win7 installation disk and not a branded Recovery disk. There is no distinction in the media for OEM and other retail media after XP, only the key determines which version will activate.

MS is unnecessarily deferring to the OEM in their new software Recovery website which rarely works at all. Yet the OEM no longer has any power to dissuade users from reinstalling their property the way they want it. The factory install is a grossly inferior install larded with bloatware and duplicate utilities that interfere with better versions built into Win7.

Hi All!

I have been reading many posts on the forum and they are all of great help... very good community... but I am afraid now I am the one with the problems asking for help...

I have a Toshiba Qosmio F50 with Windows Vista and I updated 3 days ago the drivers of the BIOS, Fingerprint Software, and Face Recognition Software to the latest versions with the updates from the toshiba official website. After that, I got a blue screen about 4 hours later, and since then I just cannot log on into windows if it's not in Safe Mode, as when it gets to the User log in screen, after 3 seconds it shows the blue screen. This repeats all the time.

Unfortunately I cannot recover windows to a previows state as I didn't have active the option for saving records.
I have located some of the windows system errors in the event manager and this is what they say:

Toshiba Qosmio won't boot up in regualr or safe mode. When I turn it on I get a menu that give me a repair menu but even that doesn't help. Can someone suggest some ideas?

Answer:Windows 7 Toshiba Qosmio laptop won't boot up

Thanks trvlr, yes I see the window folder. In fact I replaced some of the dll's in the system32/drivers directory because when I boot into safe mode with command prompt it gets so far and stalls. I was thinking that maybe one of them was corrupted. However this didn't seem to help.Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Before I had to submit this I got back to looking at the machine and I was able to fix it. Here is what I did;Using the Windows repair disk I got myself into dos prompt. Running the chkdsk was the last thing I was going to try before trying to recover or reinstalling windows. I mentioned before that it said it couldn't run it without unmounting the volume. Since I was at the end I decided to go ahead and say yes. I ran a chkdsk /r /f. It looked like it fixed a few things. I exited dos prompt and restarted the computer. It got a point where it said it was configuring windows. I took this as a good sign. When it finally completed and windows opened, there was a bucnh of apps open including Excel withoput 5 spread sheets. My guess was that someone shutfown the computer forcefully while windows updates were being applied. Anyway it all looks good now.I really want to thank you Trvlr for your guidance and suggestions. I was great having someone who had sugegstions on what to dio and to steer me in the right direction.

Hi all,

I have a request.
I'm the owner of the Toshiba Qosmio G50 I bought it from running Vista ultimate x86 and it is the saver ( ).

Now, I bought Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 and I have a problem anywhere, not allowed to find this program of-saver to install on Windows 7 x64 with Toshiba and the Internet sites I tested everything I think.

Does anyone have TEN SAVER for Windows 7 x64?
I would ask for a link to that Power Saver, this type of links ( )
I know. I mean precisely the link if anyone has and is so nice to share it. Thanks! - .

By downloading any programs for TOSHIBA \ Quad_Core_HD_Processor and generally all programs of this silent saver. file is probably derived from the C: \ Program Files \ TOSHIBA \ Quad_Core_HD_Processor_Demo thanks in advance

Answer:Qosmio G50 - Toshiba Courtyard Core software for Windows 7 x64.

To be honest it?s really difficult to understand what you try to install or what software you need.

You said something about Toshiba Quad Core HD CPU.
Please note that not all G50 Qosmio notebooks support this feature.
So it would be very interesting to know what G50-xxx you have exactly?

PS; Toshiba European driver page provides the Win 7 drivers for G50 as well.
In order to use the Toshiba Quad Core HD CPU you need to install the HD Processor Driver and HD Console as well.

The Toshiba HD Processor is a co-processor specialized for media streaming processes (real-time image processing such as image processing and image recognition) and the Toshiba HD Console displays the usage for each core in the Toshiba HD Processor and allows applications which use the HD Processor to be started

I?m afraid I don?t understand what you want to do or what you need.

Do you need HD console software?
The Toshiba HD Console displays the usage for each core in the Toshiba HD Processor and allows applications which use the HD Processor to be started.
You can download it from the Toshiba European driver page. -> Support & Downloads -> Download Drivers

But note; not all Qosmio G50 are equipped with an HD processor!

Please check firstly if your G50 support the HD processor?

After downloading the Blu-Ray Player last update for my All in one Qosmio Px30t on Windows 10,
I read the following text on the update page:

TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player (32/64bit)
Toshiba recommends installing this component that has been updated to support Windows 10
You need to manually uninstall this component from your computer in order for this updated component to install.

So I uninstalled reference software, then after running the update, a surprising window was claiming that the update
could not be executed because the installer did not find the Disk Player in my computer (is or is not funny?)

So at present I don't have any player ready for Blu-Ray. How could I get a copy of the Toshiba Blu-Ray Disc Player software that came already installed with my computer?

Please! Could somebody help to cop with this "funny anomaly" and provide me with a link to download the appropriate software. (Toshiba Blu-Ray Disk Player for Windows 8.1 or Windows 10).

I will really appreciate it!

Answer:Qosmio PX30t - Toshiba Blu-Ray Player update for Windows 10

I was lucky enough, I found this link to start installing TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player (32/64bit) in my computer.
Name of File: tc30679100a.exe (154.01M)
No more problems with the Toshiba Blu-Ray Player.

There is a driver listed at the Qosmio G30-10B Win-XP drivers page, with the following data:
- 09/07/07 Virtual Sound Toshiba Windows XP 1.03.17 World Wide
This driver is listed only in the Win-XP drivers page, and it is not listed in the Win-XP MCE drivers page.

Does anyone know what is it for, and if I should install it on my fresh dual-boot Win-XP Pro installation?

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Qosmio G30-10B Virtual Sound Toshiba driver (for Windows XP)

since all Windows XP version are the same operating system just with slightly modifications on the shipped software you don?t have to worry when installing the driver.
It would work without problems because XP MCE is just a XP with some more optional software from microsoft integrated in the system.
It?s like you take a XP and install a 3rd party media center software on it.

Feel free to install the driver, it should work flawless.

If I don't revert to earlier System Point, there is no action that I can do to make the buttons works again.

Well, if anyone could me help with this issue I really thanks,

Did you already tried to install an older version of the function button software on your system? I think maybe the new version is buggy and if not already a newer version is out, you should have the older version till a newer will be released.

Please check if the older version works, it shouldn?t be a big deal to download the single application from the Toshiba driver download site.

My 2 year old loves this app and is learning loads. I have Windows 7 on a touchscreen laptop when it would work a lot better. I looked at the files and they seem to be javascript and XML mainly. Has anyone tried exporting a metro app out of windows 8 to 7? Possibly recompiling to an executable with visual studio?

I want to avoid installing windows 8 but would love to use the app...

Answer:Windows 8 Metro App: Flash Cards

I installed it, typed in some really long winded cards for my granddaughter to use to study. Switched over to her user id, and the program was not there. Installed it for her id. The cards were gone. So I typed them in for her. Everything looked good. Logged her out, went to dinner, came back, logged her in, started the Metro flash cards were gone. Logged in as me, and the cards were gone on my version of the app too. Back to the drawing board.

I've been having some problems with random BSODs on my laptop.
The laptop itself is fairly new, bought in March this year, really good model but refently I started having problems.

One day I closed the laptop and thinking it went into sleep mode but a few hours later when I opened it a BSOD stared me in the face, the processor part was pretty hot so I immediately restarted it to lower the temperature, but I remember that the BSOD had something about "Kernel Power" written on it.

It happend 3-4 times since then, the third time it happened I enabled minidump logging so now I also have the log from the last time it happened, can anyone take a look at it and tell me what is going on and how to fix it??

I still have a guarantee on this baby so I can get it fixed for free if it's a hardware issue, still I have some important work to do this week (already almost lost a crucial project file on this) so I want to try and fix it myself for now, until I get this project done.

The BSOD can be caused by software of hardware issue.
You can check if new OS installation would solve this? if it?s software issue then a fresh OS installation is the right workaround. Before starting a OS installation, backup the data ;)

But of course the issue could be related to hardware; for example high temperature.
You said that you have noticed higher temperature while happening.
So maybe the memory modules are affected by higher temperature and this leads to BSOD. In most cases clogged fans are reason for that. Check if dust and debris needs to be removed? you can remove dust using compressed air spray.

But if this does not help, I would recommend checking the hardware under warranty conditions?

The cute little Toshiba Record Now (DLA program --Drive Letter Access) that came with the laptop was locking the burned disk after any file was burned so I could not add any files.

The second I loaded files in the window of the SONIC NOW DLA program, it started automatically so I could not add any more files. Then nothing more could be added.

So I have a lot of discs with just a few files on them !!

Warranty is out--I didn't try to use this normal Windows cd burning feature the first year to see it didn't work. Now I would have to pay for help --unless someone out there can help me.

How do I get my cd options window that usually opens when you put in a disc back? No window pops up to say: play, open a window, do nothing, etc.

How do I get the option to add Send to CD drive D:/ (for burning)back on the menu when you right click a file or folder?

How do I get the option in the left hand bar of a XP window of files (File and Folder Tasks) that offers the file task of sending to a disk to the burner drive?

I disabled DLA on the Tabbed box in properties, thinking this might return normal Windows XP services. No effect.

I went into services, found imapi CD burning Com Service and made it automatic, restarted, but service is still not there.

I hope someone else has dealt with this successfully! Thanks for any help possible.

Hi jovana,

The only thing out of the ordinary is the following from this specific bluescreen:

adfs.SYS Thu Jun 26 21:52:37 2008 (48640195)

This driver belongs to an Adobe application. Please run Windows update and update your adobe applications to the newest version available.

The full error code of this specific BSOD is:
A wait operation, attach process, or yield was attempted from a DPC routine.
This is an illegal operation and the stack track will lead to the offending
code and original DPC routine.

Caused by the ntkrnlmp.exe. This leads me to the conclusion of faulty system files. I would recommend you to do the following:

Go to Start > Search > type "Cmd" > rightclick > Run as administrator.
Type "sfc /scannow" > Hit ENTER.
Repair any faults that are found.

If you need further assistance, please follow the proper BSOD instructions found here and attach all the files created/information given to your next post.

Wait a moment, please! In which order you have installed/reinstalled the Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility? It would be interesting to know what you have done exactly.

I have used the following ?repair? order for this problem:
I uninstalled Flash Cards Support Utility and then Value Added Package. I did make a restart and cleaned the system by using CCleaner. One restart more and I installed Value Added Package firstly and then Flash Cards Support Utility. Now I did make the last restart and the FN keys started to work!

It?s important that you install the new versions for Windows 7!
That means Flash Cards Support Utility version and VAP version 1.2.34_64. I founded both on the Toshiba website :)

I have a question. I am running a Quad Screen set-up. I have been running Windows 7 32-bit. With 2 video cards

1 PCI-E ATI Radeon HD 4350

1 PCI Geforce FX 5200

for a total of 4 screens.
Now it was working great in Windows 7 32-bit, but ever since i upgraded to Windows 7-64 bit. Its not working at 100%

Now i have been reading alot on this forum that alot of people have trouble getting the FX 5200 working. After trying many different drivers i finally was able to get it working. The only catch is that. I had to turn off aero and disable other aero features so it can run with better performance.

But even after doing that. The ony problem i have is that videos such as in youtube. Run slow seem to lag a little and worse when i put it on full screen.

I figure its the card because its so old and its a pci card.

So my question is. Is there another pci video card that will work on 64-bit?

On an Acer Aspire M5800

Answer:Pci Video cards that will work with Windows 7 64-bit

had a look about and you seem to have the best available pci card, i'll be honest i thought they were out of production for nearly 10 years now.

the issue will no doubt be the 64 bit os, i doubt drivers were ever done for that gpu to support 64 bit os.

After installing Windows 7 my 'FN' key doesn?t work anymore. The big problem is during the Windows 7 upgrade, I turned off my touch pad using 'FN+F9'. Now that my FN key can?t work and I can't turn my touch pad back on.

Is there a way to turned it back on without using the 'FN' key? And is there a way I can fix my FN key? The Accessibility from Start> All Programs> Toshiba> Utilities >Accessibility doesn't work. Is the somehow related? What can I do?

Answer:Qosmio F50 - FN keys not work after Windows 7 upgrade

Here is a similar thread about Qosmio F50 with Windows 7 where the FN keys don?t work:

So you have to install Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility but you should choose a version that is released for Windows 7.

I'm currently in the same case.

I have a QOSMIO X300-14O (German Laptop) and i know why but when I install Win7 without Toshiba Value Add Package, generic drivers are installed and certain FN works (mute, brightness, lock). But when I reinstalled TVAP this generic drivers don't work (It's normal). So I think we have need to force the drivers (TVALZ_O.INF, TVALZ_O.SYS, TVALZ_O.CAT) in Device Manager but the real question is..

What is the good driver to replace ?

Thanks for you help...

What version of Windows 7 you have (32bit or 64bit)?
Did you install VAP for Windows 7 or another version?

To be honest on my Qosmio notebook the FN are working well. Have you tried to restart Toshiba Flash Cards? After this it did work. :)

Just want to confirm if the situation with storing media on SD cards and getting Windows to properly recognize the files is solved or still needs a workaround, saw it mentioned somewhere but can't remember where. Thanks,

In the past i have used the Fn+ F9 to stop the touchpad from working (i usualy had a mouse nearby and that works better), now i tried to use it again and it doesn't turn on anymore?
Only windows 7 (64bits) has been installed since.

what do i have to do to get the touchpad working again?

(i've already tried to install the value added package but that gives an error on instal)

With kind regards

P.S i am using speedfan to cheak my grafic card temperature because the laptop has been shuting down in the past (never does that with windows 7 though)
and the temperature of the grafic cards gets over 100 degrees celcius, when plating the biggest games, is that normal?

Answer:Qosmio X300-15R - Touchpad on/off doesn't work on Windows 7

What error message you get exactly if you install Toshiba Value Added Package and where did you download it?
I ask this because this tool is necessary to use the FN keys.

If I search for Qosmio X300 and Windows 7 64bit I can find a correct VAP version that should work. Maybe you should try to download it again!

Regarding the temperature I think it?s only necessary to clean the notebook using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators.
Check this!!

Hi guys,

I have a Qosmio F750-12E laptop. I bought it with an OEM version of Windows 7, which came with all the official TOSHIBA software and drivers.

I used to be able to power on my PC using my remote control. I only had to press the power button on the remote control, and PC would turn on immediately. Lately, I decided to re-install WIndows, due to a SSD upgrade, and I chose to install an original version of Windows 10 Pro instead of TOSHIBA's OEM version. Since then, I am no longer able to power on my computer with the remote control (not even if the computer is in sleep mode state).

I downloaded the official Winbond (Nuvoton) Infrared Drivers from TOSHIBA's official website. That didn't solve the problem. I also tried to reset BIOS to its default settings - still nothing's changed. It seems that my PC responses to the RC as long as it's active and turned on. But once I shut it down or let it go into sleep mode, the RC becomes worthless, and I no longer able to wake the PC up.

Can someone please help me?

I have one minor problem. Yesterday I upgrade my Qosmio G20 on 2GB RAM memory and I install Windows 7. Everything works great even much better than XP but I notice that my blue led lights for volume doesnt work anymore.

Is there some driver that i need to install or some solution that these blue lights for volume can work again?

Answer:Qosmio G20 - Blue LED for volume doesn't work on Windows 7

Hi Gabriel,

I?m not Qosmio G20 owner but I?m wondering that you install Windows 7. I think XP would be the better choice for this little bit older notebook?

Normally for the illumination on Toshiba notebook you have to install Value Added Package. It?s not listed for this model so I don?t know if it will work. You should try downloading it from another notebook model that is Windows 7 supported.

Furthermore check also the BIOS if illumination is enabled.

Hi everybody

I upgraded my Toshiba Qosmio F30-112 from XP to Windows 7, everything is ok. The only problem is with the buttons its not working none of them (play,record,stop,pause,brighness-,brighness+,dolby,etc)

I installed value added package for windows vista nothing changed still have the same problem .

Answer:Re: Qosmio F30-112 - Special buttons don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

There is a VAP for Win 7!
Of course you will have to look into other notebook series which were the VAP for Win 7 has been released.

Usually VAP for Win 7 does not depend on notebook model therefore I think you could install VAP for Win 7 released for other series.

Good luck

I downgraded my Qosmio F50-137 to XP, found every driver needed for hardware recognition, but am still looking for the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys to work.

I know (or at least think) that I have to install the "Toshiba Hotkey Utility".

But this utility needs the "Toshiba common module" for Windows XP to be installed.
I fond on the web two common modules for Windows XP:

The first one says "This software utility does not support this system.Installation will be terminated"
The second one says "TVALZ driver installation has failed"

How can I make the installation work properly? or How can I make the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys work on my F-50 ?

Thank you in advance

Answer:Qosmio F50 - How do I bring the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys to work on Windows XP?

May I ask you where you have found this common modules for Qosmio F50?
I checked the Toshiba European driver page and found only Vista drivers; 32bit and 64bit
There are no Win XP drivers!!!

I assume you tried to install Common Modules which are not designed for F50 series and therefore this error message appears?

Since you can only get Media Center by purchasing a Media Center PC, you don't need to worry about hardware compatability.

Windows 10 -My on-board Ethernet 'card' stopped working. I added a new network card but the internet still isn?t working. So I booted the computer into a recovery CD and was able to connect to the Internet via both network cards.Do I simply go to device manager and uninstall the three network items that are listed there, or do I go to a deeper level? Disabling them and re-enabling them did nothing.
Thank you for taking the time,

Hi, as a wild guess you may have received a driver update that is incompatible with your card version. Have a look in Device Manager and see if you can roll back the driver.

Another option is to uninstall the driver and choose to delete it. That way you get a fresh copy.

I have a little problem. My X300 has a remote control for media player and media center. With Windows Vista it worked Now I installed Windows 7 and all drivers and the Remote Control doesn't work anymore.

Is there a solution to it?
Please help me

Answer:Qosmio X300-13E - Remote control doesn't work on Windows 7

Possibly the consumer infrared port driver has not been installed properly or you installed wrong driver.

Toshiba European driver page provides the Infrared Driver v.2.5 for Vista 32bit and 64bit. But no driver fro Win 7.
I recommend trying to install these Vista drivers.
Furthermore install the Remote Control Manager which is also available just for Vista.

If this will not work then choose the drivers for Qosmio X500!
There is a Remote Control Manager for Win 7 and also the Infrared Driver v8.60.2002 for Win 7

Hey guys,

Basically i upgraded my laptop OS from Vista 32 bit (what came with it) to Windows 7 64 bit. All drivers are fine and it runs fine etc and has been since Windows 7 came out.

Only thing that does not work is the lights on the top of the laptop, Well they do work, but they are constantly on and I cant turn them off. I have no use for the lights therefor id rather be able to turn them off and not waste electric. When I press the button that would turn them off it goes out and beeps like it should do but nothing happens at all.

Ive tried flashing the bios again but the Winphlash w/e it is keeps crashing for some weird reason.

Any ideas?

I?m thinking about this laptop. I want it as a replacement of desktop. It seems to be very very good but I have a question.

There is now 9800GTX - does any one of you know if would be available to buy another SAME card to make it SLI?

Also - speed of HDD. It doesnt say what speed is it. 5400 or 7200.
Is there even some one who has some experiences with this laptop or do you know some websites which says something more about this one.

Answer:Qosmio X300-11W - SLI graphic cards in future

The X300 series is new on the market so I didn?t find many sources which provide detailed infos about this notebook but I found some details. Thanks to google and to the Toshiba ?User Manual? website (you can find it on the Toshiba European support homage) ;)

> Also - speed of HDD. It doesn?t say what speed is it. 5400 or 7200.
There are 2 HDD installed and both seems to work with 5400rpm

I didn?t find any details regarding the SLI option and about the possibility to upgrade the notebook with the second GPU chip but I doubt this would be possible.

Do flash cards and flash drives use the same technology? If so, would a utility designed for flash cards work on flash drives and vice-versa?

Answer:Flash Cards and Flash Drives

Yes, they use the same flash chips for storage. As for the utility.. It depends on what you want to do.

On application level a drive is a drive is a drive and there is no difference between working with a hard drive, a flash drive, a memory card, a zip drive, whatever.

I have the Qosmio G-10 (104) for several weeks now. From day one I have been unable to start-up this nice Qosmio Player gadget (the standalone dvd etc. player which needs only 10 seconds boot up with no Windows running).

Can anybody tell me you one turns this on?????

I have this question outstanding with Thoshiba but nobody is responding.

Answer:Qosmio G-10 (104): Qosmio Player don't work

normally you need only to do like this when You wish to look at a DVD in Qosmio player:
- Make sure the machine is fully switched off (no stand by or hibernation).
- Locate the movie-button just below the LCD. SHould be very close to the power button.
- Press and hold it for maybe 1-2 seconds.
- The machine should turn on and boot up the Qosmio player.

What happens when You do this?

Dear All,

I have Qosmio G30-194,
first i had a problem with the VGA , i send it for repair, when it comes back i noticed that the remote control is not working on windows Media Center, while in A/V mode it work perfectly.

I tried to do full system restore from the recovery DVD, but nothing changed, even i installed Windows Vista with all of its drivers.
Nothing changed also, I borrowed a USB IR received for another remote control it worked perfectly with my remote on windows.

Please advise me what to do, do i send it back to the service center , or there is an easier solution.

If you had an issue with the VGA chip then the whole motherboard was replaced.
Maybe this has something to do with your issue.

Anyway, as far as I know you don?t need any special drivers if you want to use the remote control in MCE. For the usage of remote controller with Qosmio player you would need to connect a USB infrared.

I have a Qosmio X300 with dual boot OS Windows Vista and Windows XP Pro.

When I am working in Windows XP and the AC power is plugged in, the notebook show me the battery icon (full 100% remaining) and the brightness reduce (just like when a notebook works with battery).
If I remove the AC power cable the notebook show me the AC power icon and the screen become more bright (just like when a notebook work with ac power).

The most weird of all is that if I restart the notebook in Vista OS the power icon is correct.

Do you have any idea?

Answer:Qosmio X300 - Power managment doesn't work correctly in Windows XP

This Qosmio is delivered with preinstalled Vista and this preinstalled Vista is tested. So it MUST work properly.
The question is what is with your WXP installation.
Which SP is there?
Have you installed Toshiba Power Saver?

When you start notebook with AC adapter is the status shown properly?

My daughter has this particular laptop, which was an expensive model when she purchased it in 2004.She is having a problem with the screen - it doesn't come on initially but if she hits a combination of FN key and one other (which I can't remember) then the screen becomes active again. Anyone know what setting we can go to in order for the screen to come on - when we switch on. I think this blank screen may be a security device?Any recommendations appreciatedBrambles

Go into the BIOS, set default/primary display to LCD.F2 or F8 at boot up to access BIOS, look for text at the bottom of the screen if those don't work.

This morning I was on the Toshiba website envying the current model of Toshiba's Qosmio series when the opportunity to chat live with a sales rep popped up on my screen. After picking and plucking at him for a good thirty minutes I was able to divulge a few facts about the new model that I discovered is due to release within the next three weeks on a Tuesday. What I learned is that its processor model will be upgraded (it seems like they are dumping the core-i5 model entirely) they are staying with the same screen size of 18.4'', the speaker manufacturer will stay the same, the aesthetics have been "drastically" revamped, and the price is going to hover around the same price that the current model is at. When it is released I'll try and remember to post a link to it on here, but I'll probably be so consumed with looking over every detail of it that I wont leave the site for a few weeks...or months. So in short if you are interested in purchasing a desktop replacement notebook I would wait a few weeks and see what is released under the Qosmio model, just to make sure you're getting your money's worth on what ever you get.

I have had no luck installing 7 on my Qosmio G35-AV600.

Tried several versions (beta, RC, RTM) all crash on the same spot during install.

I know the OS's are good as I am using the RTM to type this post on my desktop.

When I install - clean on a formatted drive - about halfway through the computer reboots, blue screen error flashes (too fast to read) and the start windows normally screens comes up. The notebook has onboard raid and I have to manually install the drivers as requested by windows since the install cannot see my (2) sata drives. Tried the Vista Toshiba Raid driver and XP driver which I believe are actually the same.

Any ideas?

Answer:Toshiba Qosmio and Win 7

looks like the raid chipset is causing this bsod. however, to eliminate any issues from hard drive, try this method. it'll turn your hdd into a blank sheet. then install win7.
(just replace vista with 7.)
