Preferred Solution: Flash cards (TCrdMain.exe) error on Satellite Pro U200

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone!

I don't know how, but I have a problem when my windows Vista starting (running)
The problem is with those file TCrdMain.exe That file is for Flash cards, end running each time when I put my PC on (with starting windows). But I see that problem: "Run time error file TCrdMain.exe", and I should click close.
I don't know where can I uninstall that program, and where, can I find that driver(Software) ( If I uninstall and then install that driver, maybe everything will be OK). That's the main problem.

And One other question...
There are so many programs with that computer(laptop), and If I want to install Windows XP for example, where can I find everything (each programs) There are maybe 10 or 15 pograms.

That will be a big problem If I change my OS. Is there a site where I can download, everything....
Thanks for the answers, nd sorry about my english skills :-)
Best wishes from Bulgaria, and have a nice day!

(Running Vista Home Basic on a Satellite L30)

The Flash Cards utility only really works if I use it soon after starting up my laptop. I often want to change the machine brightness after I've been using the machine for an hour or so, but the utility either ignores my attempts to move the slider down on the brightness setting, or shows it as at the lowest setting already (when it's actually at max).

So far the only solution I have found is to restart the machine! I cannot even seem to restart the programs instead--I can hunt it down in task manager and close it, right enough.... but then double clicking on TCrdMain.exe does nothing and the blooming thing won't reopen.

How do I restart the utility? And, have there been any updates to make this any more stable?

Answer:Flash cards (TCrdMain.exe) keeps crashing on Satellite L30

As far as I know you can disable and enable this Toshiba flash card under Programs -> Toshiba -> Utilities -> Settings for Flash Cards
Check this maybe it helps.

But usually the flash cards service can be enabled and disabled in the ?computer management?. Under ?Services? choose the Flash card service and start it again!!!

I don't use the Toshiba Flash cards - I just find them a nuisance, so I've stopped them appearing at the top of the screen. However, I note +tcrdmain.exe+ is still running, and eating up memory. Is it safe to disable this in msconfig?

(I'm running Vista business)

Answer:Can I disable the Tcrdmain.exe in msconfig - Toshiba Flash cards

Why shouldn?t be it safe? ;)
You can set it back if something will go wrong?.

You can try it.
Disable this background process in ?msconfig? a then boot the machine again.
After this short procedure you could check in task manager if the Tcrdmain.exe was disabled and if the notebook runs trouble free.

This notebook seems to have a PCMCIA slot.
I know, that I have already a wlan card installed on this notebook, but this card is not supported by linux.

kind regards

Answer:Does Satellite Pro U200 support PCMCIA cards?

Hi there,

yes the machine supports a PCMCIA-slot on the left side of the machine. So you will be able to put that wireless card into your machine to use it under Linux.

I've just bought a Satellite U300-13V, very happy with it so far except for one little niggle. Right from the very first startup it has produced the following message:

program files\toshiba\flashcards\tcrdmain.exe
R6025 Pure Function Call

It then goes on to shut down the Flashcards program.

Now I don't know a lot about laptops and I have no idea what Flashcards is - the Toshiba manual gives no information whatsoever, but one thing that I do know is that:

a) Getting error messages on startup is not a good thing

b) I have some sort of functionality that I have paid for but I am unable to use.

Has anybody experienced this before, can anybody help, is there anyway of contacting Toshiba and getting their help?

Thanks in advance.

Another problem that I now have is that the Toshiba DVD player doesn't work, instead I receive a message telling me to re-install the software. Fine, but where do I get the software from?

I have only had this laptop for a week and I am getting really annoyed that everything works except for the software prefixed Toshiba. Has anybody come across these problems/found solutions before?

Can anyone tell me what to do?

Did you install the right BIOS for the right OS?
You should know that Vista uses an different BIOS as the Windows XP!

Anyway, did you try to reinstall this Toshiba Flash Card Utility?
Please do this.

Firstly you should reinstall the Toshiba Common Modules and then the Flash Card Utility. Both programs can be found in the Toshiba Value added package.

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I recently just rebooted my Satellite A200-195.

I found that my flash cards for my ?FN? hotkey function buttons have disappeared and do not pop up on top of the screen anymore.
However I am able to press the other function buttons on the keypad F1 - F8, part from the one that enables the mouse?F9?.

I have already uninstalled and installed the Value Added Package, Flash support utility and even tried to update the Bios but it seems my Bio is already the newest version.
After all this I seem to be able to enable my mouse pad ?F9? but my other function buttons are not working anymore and the flash cards still are not appearing like they use to.
Is there anything I can do to get my flash card to pop up back on screen without having to set my laptop back to factory default?

Answer:Satellite A200-195: TOSHIBA Flash Cards "black and white cards" not working

Have you tried to restart Flash cards?
Start > All programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards.

What you can also try is to install ?Flash cards support utility? if you can find it on Toshiba download page.

Notebook Satellite U200-165, Win XP home,
I got in 2006, all this time there wasn't any problem with my mmc cards.
Yeasterday installed WinXP pro, installed drivers: flash media driver and SD secure module and card reader don't read MMC cards

Help, please!

Answer:Satellite U200-165: Card reader don't read MMC cards but reads SD card

What do you mean exactly by ?MMC card doesn?t work??
What is card reader status in device manager?

I checked the user manual (can be downloaded from the Toshiba page) and it says the MMC cards are definitely supported.
I think this must be a software issue.

In your case I would recommend updating the Win XP to the latest state and to reinstall the Flash Media Driver and SD Secure Module again?

I've bought "Toshiba Satellite U200-181" 2 weeks ago. Recently (2-3 days ago) I?ve got problem with built-in HDD.

So the problem is that sometimes I'm getting the message "Built-in HDD ERROR" during Notebook startup. This message "Built-in HDD ERROR" appears from time to time and system stops booting from HDD, but can boot from other bootable devices. First time when message "Built-in HDD ERROR" occurred, it was accompanied by lot of strange clapper pop noise from inside of the Notebook. All other

"Built-in HDD ERROR" messages were accompanied with not so loud and strange clapper pop noise, but still with some pop sounds (not as loud as at first time).

To identify possible problems I saved S.M.A.R.T. data log (see appendix#1).

Additional information: After I've purchased the Notebook I?ve made successful BIOS upgrade from version 1.40 to version 1.50 strictly according Toshiba official web-site instructions. After BIOS upgrade system worked well, no ERRORS, no faults. But 3days ago I got "Built-in HDD ERROR" message.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Answer:Satellite U200-181 Built-in HDD ERROR

In my knowledge the error appears sometimes because the BIOS cannot find the HDD as a boot source. Possibly because of connection loosing or/and HDD malfunction.
Hmm, did you check if the HDD was plugged correctly???
The lose plug could be a reason for the strange clapper pop noise.

Hello when i start my Toahiba Satellite Pro U200
I have a Error

Bad Checksum (ROM (Data Block) )

Pleas Help

Answer:Satellite Pro U200 - Bad Checksum (ROM (Data Block) ) error

The most common cause for "Bad Checksum" errors is the CMOS battery malfunction on the motherboard.
The battery could be empty or could simply be dead. But it?s really not easy to say what?s wrong exactly!

Therefore I would recommend firstly to access the BIOS and to set it to default settings. Don?t forget to save the changes.
Furthermore you should connect the AC adaptor and should let it connected for about 24hours to recharge the CMOS battery.

Maybe it helps to get rid of this error message.
If it doesn?t help, then you should contact a notebook technician!

Hi everyone,

I'm having some problems with my DVD rewriter drive on my Satellite U200-115.
It works very intermittently and whenever I power up the machine, the first notice I get is 'cd-rom error' even though there is no disc in the drive.
I can't activate the drive from windows either (icon in system tray).
There is the odd occassion when the drive does work in windows but this is so infrequent that I can't remember the last time (I think it was back in Nov 08).

I want to restore the system as I am getting a lot of windows file icons instead of the proper icons for images e.g. pdf, doc, etc. but am worried that the drive wont read the disc or will stop working during the recovery process.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Best WIshes

Answer:Satellite U200-115 - CD Rom error - can't activate the drive from windows

If it?s a software issue the drive will not stop working during the recovery procedure.
Do you get a CD-ROM error in Windows?

You could try to boot from a Linux boot disk. If this work it would be a software problem and not a hardware problem.

Maybe this article from the Microsoft Knowledge Base can help you:

I am using Office XP, Office 2003, Adobe Acrobat 7.0, internet explorer, copernic search machine, and a few other programs. The task manager indicated after a complete re-installation (Toshiba CD recovery) with about 60 processes.

Now I have reached 71. I have updated the LAN driver, use a norton security system, all updated incl. Windows XP
and nevertheless - only 2 days after the complete reinstallation I am facing error messages again indicating that a process could not put to storage.

Neither telephone support nor an Toshiba on-site engineer could help me on the problems. Hardware (harddisk, RAM)has been checked and found o.k.. In addition to the error messages when shutting down I also had the phenomeonon that notebook did not shut down completly and was on for hours (blue screen showing that computer is shutting down) until I switched it off with pressing the button for 5 sec.

What could it be ? I had some other notebooks before and I ran identical programs on them - and never ever did I have such error messages.
I checked task mgr. before shutting down and no process was running - nevertheless this error messages that a program cannot be put to storage comes up.

Answer:Satellite Pro U200 - storage error messages when shutting down

For me it?s clear. You have installed so many applications and some of the background processes cannot be finished when the notebook shuts down.

For me its unbelievable how many applications are running in the background.
You write something about 71!!! I have also installed many applications but on my notebook 40 background processes are running and for me it a very high value.

I think you should check you ?msconfig? (type msconfig in the run window) option and check the background processes which are not important. Disable also the automatically loading at the notebook booting.

Unfortunately but there is not other solution.

I have been using Satellite Pro U 200 since July this year.
I have been having a strange problem. The problem started in middle of October where my laptop would show a blue windows error screen and restart. When the system would restart the screen would start flickering and the operating system wouldn't boot up properly.

It would give all kinds of error messages. Even if I tried to install a new operating system at that point it would give error with the disk saying some file is corrupt. If you leave the laptop switched off it would work again normally.
The disk would work normally on other laptops/desktops.

I sent it for repair and they changed the hard disk. But the problem came back to a lesser degree after one week.
Sent it again and this time they changed the motherboard.
But now the problem is back with a blue screen shutdown.

It is a Toshiba U 200 1.66 GHz gigabyte memory gigabyte hard disk.
I bought it from Canada and using it in England therefore it has a Canadian power cable.
I am using Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2

Any help will be appreciated!

Answer:Satellite Pro U200: BSOD error and sudden shutdown problem

Can it be that some application you use is responsible for that? If there is an error about corrupt file I am a little bit skeptic about hardware malfunction.

Did you make some hardware upgrades?

The FN key flashcards (that drop down from the top of screen) worked nicely for the first week of using this new notebook, they seemed to disappear by themselves (windows updates are the devil, so I point the finger at that) and I've spent an inordinate amount of time resolving this issue.

I have downloaded the latest TVAP and flashcard utility from Toshiba support. installed tvap and then rebooted and then ran the flash card utility installer which uninstalled the utility and then rebooted and then reran the utility installer, rebooted and still no joy.

my FN keys are still working, but without the flash card I cant see where im scrolling through wifi/bluetooth on/off.

What else can be done once tvap and flash card utility have been installed?

Answer:Re: Satellite A500 - Flash Cards don't appear

I had a similar problem that Flash Cards didn?t appear anymore... As far as I know it was related to an additional software that I installed? If I remember rightly, it was VMware?

So if you install this program remove it. Furthermore make sure that Flash Cards Support Utility and Value Added Package will be started properly.

Before you install newest versions, remove the old one firstly and start CCleaner to clean up the registry.

I hope it helps!

I have a Toshiba A200 1s5 notebook with Vista Home Premium preinstalled. c2d [email protected], 2GB RAM.

The problem is that flash cards utility is very slow. It takes quite a lot of time from when I press the FN button until the cards appear. Plus the entire utility runs slow. Sometimes it won't even appear. I understood you really need these flash cards to use the function keys without which they won't work.

Is there any known issues with this utility or should I just try reinstalling it? I have this problem since I bought the notebook and I never did a reinstall or a recovery. So all the software that came with it is original.

I own a Toshiba Satellite L750 PSK1WA-03C00R and my flash cards do not work, the function keys work, but my flash cards do not.

This model does not come with the Flash Card Support Utility, it does however come with the Value Added Package.

I have uninstalled, CCleaned and reinstalled and repeated mulitple times, trying to get this to work properly. I have also restarted after each of these steps.

I can't figure the problem out and thought that I'd see what you guys' recommend before I resort to getting Toshiba's support services.

I also do not want to have to resort to a system restore, but, if I really have to and have no choice, I will when I can.

I hope someone may be able to help me and do look forward to what support you can offer me.
Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking, Toshiba Flash Card utility is part of Value Added Package so you will not find this utility for download.

Please check if you can find start > all programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards option and click on it. Still the same problem? Can you open settings for Flash cards?

There is also option called: Allow the mouse to bring up the cards. Does this option work?

Windows 7 is still in beta phase and still not available on the market. So support is still not started for it. To be honest I don't believe some other notebook manufacturers have started with Windows 7 support.

I have recently Installed Windows 7 64 bit onto my Mother's Laptop (L500 - PSLJ0A-01E013) and from downloading either version of flash cards from the support site ( [here|] )

Results in (from what I can tell) only kenotify.exe and the relevant install info being created. Using the other one results in the original one being uninstalled, and then the same thing happening. While kenotify is running, noting happens if I use FN-F6 (brightness down) or FN-F7 (bright up) or any of the other ones.

Also, Toshiba support station doesn't seem to find any "updates" for the software, and it doesn?t even want me to download the BIOS update which I haven't got.

Is there any way to turn on wireless on a Satellite L505 without the flashcard utility?
I've upgraded to Windows 10 and flashcards will not install/work. Oddly, if I go into the bios and turn off wireless, then reboot and turn it on, it works. But after a reboot, wireless is off again and I have to go through the bios change to get it to work again.

What I would give to have the hardware switch on this one.

Maybe stupid question now but do you have this problems if you use stand-by or hibernation mode?
I mean if this work don't switch your notebook off but you can often use hibernation mode.

Some function like WLAN enable/disable are controlled by additional software and your old machine will probably not supported for Win10 so I think you will not be able to fix this.

I am using windows 7 ultimate x64 on L500-126, the new win7 x64 drivers have been available since yesterday.....

However, the Flash cards (Fn Hotkeys) still doesn't work after the installation of the new VAP. The flash cards is able to show up at the top of my screen, I can click them by mouse, but the Fn combinations does not work at all!

I've noticed that there is a downloadable driver called "Flash Cards support", even I installed this application the problem still remained.

Then I uninstalled VAP and kept "Flash Cards support", to my surprise, the combination of Fn+F6 and F7 (Adjusting brightness) worked! however, without VAP I could not use other combinations.

Are there still problems with the new VAP for win 7 x64?

P.S. The new "Hardware setup" seems to be a problem as well, I tried to change some configurations in this application but after re-boot all the options went back.

Hello all

I have recently purchased a Satellite A200-1DA which has the Toshiba value added package installed. I find the top of screen drop down buttons very annoying is there any way of disabling the drop down buttons without losing their uses accessed from the number buttons.

Answer:Satellite A200-1DA: How to disable Flash Cards without losing FN keys

Please check Toshiba download page for updates and install latest version for your notebook model. With new version those flash cards will be shown much faster.

I recently bought a Satellite C55-C-1F6 (PSCPAE) in a french store (Darty). The computer was running Windows 10 Home, but I didn't want to use this system. So I installed Windows 7 Pro, and it works great. Except hotkeys. By the way, Hotkeys are working (Fn + F1, F2, F3, ...), but nothing appears on the screen, and I don't find the right "driver" to install for the feature.
Anybody knows what is the program I need to run to have these visual notifications when I use these hotkeys ? I found some information about Flash Cards, but nothing on the "downloads & drivers" page on the Toshiba's web site (except a "Function keys" program for Windows 8 only, which disabled some hotkeys when I tried it on W7).

Thanks in advance !

Hi folks,

i reinstall Vista without the Recovery CD and now the FN Keys works, but not all. I.E. i cant lock the Touchpad and the FlashCards also didnt come down, if i push a FN Key.
The User darksys tells at this Thread ( that it is helpful to install the Flash Card Support Utilty that is not available at the European Download Site. So i downloaded it from the Canadian Site, but at the Installation it tells me that I have an invalide Serial Nummber ??!!
I have a Sattelite A-210-10C (Model Nummber : PSAEGE-xyz). So I think the Install tells me that I have an Invalide Serial because it is for an another Model Series.

Its annoying, writing a text and then suddenly the mouse jump anywehre else because I touch the Pad by mistake...

So I hope anybody could help.

So long...

Answer:Question about function Keys and Flash Cards on my Satellite A210-10C

Please check Toshiba Europe support site again to see if there is never version for VAP. I have A200 and there was some problem with VAP installed in recovery image.

I have removed it from the system and installed latest version from Toshiba support page. Now by pressing KN key the flash cards are shown very fast and I can use al of them without any problem.

Check also touchpad settings. There must be also option for touchpad disabling.

I have a Satellite A500 PSAM3A-04200E. Recently I did an upgrade from Vista to Win 7. I used my system restore disks to reinstall Vista and then did the upgrade to Windows 7 using the upgrade assistant.

I find that I can no longer use the Fn key to enable/disable features..

I have tried downloading the VAP and running it. I have also tried the Start->Toshiba->Utilities->Restart Flash Cards. Neither of these have worked even after a restart...

Can anyone give me some pointers on what to do next?

Answer:Satellite A500 - Flash Cards don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

Hi buddy,

If you have already reinstalled Toshiba Value Added Package, you should also (re)install ?Flash Cards Support Utility?. This tool controls the FN keys and is necessary to get them working.

You can download it on official Toshiba website:

You know Flash Cards is transparent and moving flashy when pressing FN key.
After I downloaded & installed TVAP 1.1.7, Flash Card became a dark, not transparent and not moving when pressing FN anymore (shows suddenly when pressing FN).

What's wrong?

PS. I have A200-1M4

Answer:Satellite A200-1M4: Flash Cards are dark and not transparent after v1.1.7 update

Nothing is wrong. It is simply new version. Toshiba has offered this update and fixed one big problem. Using last version the flash cards were very slow and it was very annoying. Toshiba has designed new tool and the transparency is not available anymore.

I hope you know very well that such settings need more resources and notebook runs slower. But at the end I am asking myself: is this so important for you?

one little suggestion: remove the FN-key software and install a downloaded version. Make sure that everything from that FN-key software was properly removed from the system, so you can be sure that nothing will disturb the newly installed version.

Maybe it helps, please give a feedback if it works...

I have a Satellite A200 PSAE3E and I have noticed just recently that the Flash Cards do not appear now when I move my mouse pointer to the top of the screen.
I have checked that the program is set to start up when the laptop is turned on and I have looked at the settings for the program and everything seems to be OK.

However I can only get them to appear if I double click the file and start it manualy.
As a temporary fix I have put a shortcut on my desktop to start it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Satellite A200 PSAE3E - Flash Cards not loading and opening on StartUp

Start the *msconfig* and check if the Toshiba Flash Card are checked and enabled in ?Startup? tab.
Furthermore you should check if the service which controls the flashcards has been enabled.

Wait a moment, please! In which order you have installed/reinstalled the Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility? It would be interesting to know what you have done exactly.

I have used the following ?repair? order for this problem:
I uninstalled Flash Cards Support Utility and then Value Added Package. I did make a restart and cleaned the system by using CCleaner. One restart more and I installed Value Added Package firstly and then Flash Cards Support Utility. Now I did make the last restart and the FN keys started to work!

It?s important that you install the new versions for Windows 7!
That means Flash Cards Support Utility version and VAP version 1.2.34_64. I founded both on the Toshiba website :)

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Answer:Satellite U300 PSU30C - Toshiba flash cards and accessibility tools issue

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook: => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

Answer:Re: Satellite A200 PSAE6E: Cannot install Flash Cards - invalid serial number

In most cases the invalid serial number error message occurs if you try to install a utility which has been not created for this notebook series.
You should check if you have downloaded the right tool.

But one question; Do you use the Vista BIOS version?
At this time Toshiba European driver page provides the 2.60 Win Vista BIOS.
Please check this!

Furthermore before you would try to install the Flash cards you should install the VAP. The value added package contains necessary tools and this should be installed firstly before Flash cards installation.

Hi ,
Just wondering, is it my luck? that is the fourth flash memory SD card I try for first use and it gives me memory card error right after inserting it , I used to devices for reading: card reader in my HP officejet printer and Canonpowershot camera.
Cards are:
Patriot signature class 4 4gb
Kingston class 4 8gb
Kingstion micro sd with adapter
last one today Transcend class 10 8gb
I have a old kingston 2 Gb still working fine in the camera and in the HP printer.
I tried all the recovery software I could find to try to format it but the cards are not recognized.
I insert the cards unlocked for first use to format them at first but I can't reach this stage since I have memory card error right away.
I don't know what to do, I find it ridiculous to continue buying cards that won't work.
Any suggestions, ideas would be appreciated.

Toshiba Flash Card Utility controls the Fn buttons.
You should check and if necessary should disable and enable the Flash Card in Programs\Toshiba\Flash Card utility

If this will not help, reinstall the Flash Card Support Utility again.

Hi all.

Hardware: Toshiba Tecra S5-14R
I have a problem with Toshiba Flash Cards software.
When it starts I've received an error "R6025 - pure virtual function call", and then the microsoft alert that Toshiba Flash Cards software stopped working

I'm using Windows Vista Business 32 bit OS, and I've downloaded new version of Toshiba Flash Cards software (v.2.00.05), but it doesn't solve the problem.

Could somebody help?

Answer:Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software ?Microsoft Money?.

Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|]

I would recommend doing this:

1. Disable the Flash cards
2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
- regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
- regsvr32 sccbase.dll
- regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

4. Enable the Flash Card Utility again

Answer:Tecra A9 tcrdmain.exe Vista Runtime error R6025 pure virtual function call

I see the error is related to the flashcards\tcrdmain.exe.
This flashcard application belongs to the Toshiba Vista Value Added Package and I think you should try to reinstall this package again.

Firstly you have to remove the old VAP from the system. Then download the newest VAP from the Toshiba European driver page and reinstall it.

Good luck

Sorry to ask a dumb question but this U200 is my first ever laptop. ok, I've already done what most PC mags tell you, ie fully charge the battery then run untill empty then repeat process two or three times, it's suppose to get all the cells within the battery working.

Now what's the best thing to do, carry on like that or should I wait untill the battery is say half empty or so & then plug the charger in?
I believe it's not good to run the laptop with a full battery & the charger plugged in all the time, so what do you guy's do when you want to use your laptop for say 6 hours or so?

Answer:Satellite U200: What is the best way to use a battery?

>believe it's not good to run the laptop with a full battery & the charger plugged in all the time.

Well, the new notebook and battery generation allows using the battery and the AC adaptor at the same time.
There is not ?bad memory? effect as with early batteries!

So my notebook is connected to the main power and the battery is always plugged-in.
This has no bad influence on the battery performance. But you should know that there is a battery charge limitation.
After about 500times of completely charge and discharge procedures the battery will lose slowly the performance. This is nothing unusual!

PS: Note: In the user manual you will find some useful tips and information how to handle the battery!

Best regards

As far as I know the memory slots are placed under the keyboard. Therefore you must remove the keyboard holder and the keyboard.

I have a notebook (Satellite Pro U200 PLUA1E-00X007HU bios v3.70 win7 32bit), what I want to upgrade with a Samsung Series 830 64Gb SSD. I read that ssd drive need AHCI mode. My notebook supports AHCI mode? What can I change in bios before install the new storage?

Thanks for help!

Answer:SSD upgrade on Satellite Pro U200

I see you are confused?
First of all you have to know that the notebook supports SATA controller.
This means that you have to use SATA HDDs or SATA SSD.

Secondly: AHCI means SATA? some BIOS supports an SATA mode and you can switch between compatible (IDE)mode and AHCI mode (SATA) mode.

If such switch is not available in BIOS then the mode is set always to AHCI.

However, back to SSD drive question:
I don?t really see any problems using an SSD drive.
It should functions since the SATA controller should support it

I?m looking for help with buying new battery for Toshiba Satellite Pro U200 - 182
Original model no. what I found on old battrey is PA3356U - 3BRS with parameters : DC10.8V - 4700mAh

When I tried search for it on web I found only this tip ie=U200%20Series&model=U200-182

I would like ask if I can buy it (if this battery will be compatible) and also if its possible to buy battery with longer "life"

Thank you for help

Answer:Need new battery for Satellite Pro U200-182

I found info that for your notebook model there are two battery types only:

So if you use Google and put these part numbers you should be able to find online shop where you can buy these compatible batteries.
By the way: link you posted is OK and I don't see reason why you should not order this one. It is listed as compatible one.

For longer ?life? you need battery with more cells and capacity but it is unfortunately not available for your notebook model.

I?m not quite sure if such drive will work in your notebook.
The point is that the drives support different master/slave/c-sel settings and wrong settings would lead to the IDE #1 error.
The BIOS would simply not recognize the CD/DVD drive.

Also, the little toggle switch on the side doesn't work.

I've tried both the standard W7 drivers as well as the drivers for Vista, but nothing works. Any help greatly appreciated.

Did you check if the mute has not been enabled?
You should check this in control panel -> sound settings.

You should also remove the sound card from the device manager and should reboot the unit.
The Win 7 will reboot and will ask and recognize the sound card automatically.
Then you could test the sound.

Would it include a migration tool (e.g. Acronis) to copy my HDD (80 GB) to a new SSD?

Answer:What Toshiba SSD can be used for Satellite U200

I assume most of SSD drives which would support the SATA controller/interface would be compatible and should work in connection with this U200 series.

But you will not get the full SSD drive performance since most SSD drives are faster than the speed supported my HDD controller.

I guess the unit supports common SATA I (150MB/s) controller. The SSD drive supports mostly SATA II (300MB/s) or SATA III. But SATA is down compatible. Therefore you should be able to use also SATAII/III SSD drives

3 months ago I bought a Toshiba SATELLITE PRO U200 from Jarir bookstore in KSA and now want to upgrade the 80 gigabyte hard drive to 160 gig.
However I notice that 1.46 GB of the hard drive is partitioned EISA and does not have a drive letter assigned. I assume it is for the operating system or something as the laptop came preloaded with Windows Vista Business.
I have the restore DVD, and would normally just fit the new Disk and boot from DVD following the same procedure as normal PC's. But I cannot copy the EISA partition over to the new disk. How do I upgrade to the new disk?

Answer:Upgrade HDD on Satellite U200

why not duplicate the whole HDD on the new one. There are enough programs to perform it ->

Otherwise just install your new HDD in your machine, perform a system restore on your new HDD, copy your files on it and thats it. Don?t worry about the partition, if it?s existent on your old HDD then the system restore should probably create it on the new harddisk.

You won?t know it until you tried it. :)

please give some feedback after your restored your system, would be interesting to know if the recovery created a new "EISA" partition.

Answer:No sound on Satellite Pro U200 in WXP Pro SP3

This beep comes from the other speaker which indicates BIOS beeps if an error was detected while POST (power on self test).
But this has nothing to do with the sound while running an Windows operating system.

In my opinion you should firstly check if the sound card was recognized properly in the device manager.
Furthermore an sound card driver update would be not bad. So download the sound driver from the Toshiba European driver page and reinstall it. But before you would reinstall the new sound driver you should uninstall the old driver (can be done in device manager).

Last but not least I would recommend checking the sound settings in control panel -> sound & audio devices. Check if mute was no enabled and if other sound volume control are set to a higher value!!!

Does anyone know where i can get a replacement CPU fan?
Please as i am running on reduced processor power to keep the noise down but the result of this is that the pc runs slower than normal.

Answer:Satellite U200-160 - Noicy CPU fan - Where to get new one

All new parts can be ordered from the authorized service provider which is responsible for you country.

I think the guys could order needed parts from the Toshiba depot.
So contact the ASP in your country and ask for the help?

By the way; if you warranty is valid the fan/cooling module replacement should be done for free.

Hey guys,

I have just installed BIOS v.3.50 and it works like a charme. Hope there will be more drivers soon or at least updated drivers; especially the Flash-Cards do not work properly they always crash.

With BIOS 3.50 I think I got a little more performance, but maybe it is just an impression, check it out yourself ;)

Answer:A new BIOS version 3.50 is out for Satellite U200

Sounds good, my neighbor has a similar machine, and I will tell him as soon as possible.

I have a question regarding compatibile DVD drives for Tohsiba U200-181.
I looked through this forum and found info that only UJDA765 and UJ-842
are compatibile with my laptop. I originaly had UJ-842 and tried to replace
it with UJDA765 but with no luck. CD ROM error during startup.
Many beay seller advertise other models e.g. UJ-832, UJ-862 as compatibile for this model too.
So i tried using UJ-862 removed from Toshiba U300 also with no luck.
I would appreciate any info on acceptable models or ways of
installing any of the new like UJ-862.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite U200-181 - compatibile DVD-ROMs

The list of all compatible optical disc drives you can find in user?s manuals document.

For the first time ever, and for no apparent reason my U200-115 decided to ask for a password (BIOS I believe). It was working quite happily last night. I shut down as normal, and booted up as always this morning. It goes theough the Toshiba welcome screen and then goes to a blank screen with PASSWORD= I have no idea what the password is and have never set one, can you help?

I did download Office updates last night before restarting and then shutting down, I don't know if this is relevant.

Any help would be much appreciated, and bear with me as I am a newbie to this!

Thank you

Answer:Satellite U200-115 asking for PASSWORD on start up

Do you mean this passwords looks like a BIOS password?
This is very strange and not understandable for me.

If this is a BIOS password then you will have to contact the ASP in your country for removing and for BIOS update.

I think you should contact the ASP as fast as possible and should explain your issue.

Good luck

Hi, how are you?

I'm hoping you will be able to help me with a problem that's leaving me not wanting to use my U200 at all.

I've had the Satellite Pro U200 for a few months now &, to be honest, have barely used it for the last 2 months. The reason is the sound no longer works & the 'brightness up / brightness down' functionality has stopped working.

Here's what happened: I got a virus that posed as Norton & installed a couple of other trojans/viruses. I was able to get rid of all of this, but, since, the sound/brightness hasn't worked.

I've gone through all of the help stuff & diagnostics, and everything seems fine. Sound is supposedly coming through the `Soundmax HD Audio' device, but there is no sound. When I check this I get "this device is working properly". When I try to update drivers, they're fully up to date. My volume is turned up full.

Can you suggest a potential cause / fix for this?

To be honest, I've tried everything and am at the end of the road & am thinking of just totally reinstalling the machine. Is there any way to reset it to its original settings? (I know PCs often have this ability).

Thanks for your help!

Answer:Satellite Pro U200 - no sounds, no brightness

Hello Daniel

To be honest you should use delivered recovery DVD and install OS again. After doing this you can be 100% sure that OS is CLEAN and, of course, everything will work again as before.

Do this! Believe me it is the best solution for you. :)

Hi guys, help me please.

My computer is giving me this error message "Retrieval of "THotKey" failed. Error code - 0x00031402, 0x00000002", and with it I can't use my Fn key, and when I try to open from toshiba folder, it gives me the same message.

Could you please help.

Answer:Satellite Pro U200: Cannot use TOUCH PAD on/off utility

Hello Maiko

It will be interesting to know since when this error occurs. Try to roll back OS to earlier time using System restore tool. Maybe after doing this the problem will be solved. If not please post again.

One more thing: You can also try to install common modules again. You can find it on Toshiba download page.

I have a problem with the burner of DVD :

Since I formated (and then reinstall with recover CD that was with computer at beggining), I am not able to burn DVDs !

How can I do to recover that !!

And also, that's weird, instead of showing one DVD player, there are 2 : One for CD, one for DVD, when it's the same...

I'm able to read DVDs, but I am not able to burn them :(

Answer:Satellite U200: I am not able to burn DVDs

This is very strange? it?s confusing that two ODD?s appears in ?MY Computer?

What you could do is to remove the ODD (CD/DVD) drive from the device manager and then to reboot the notebook.
Please check if the CD/DVD would be recognized correctly after the new reinstallation.

When i start satellite U200-10K (Vista), right from boot up it gives me continous beep..beepppppp..i can work..i can open all aplications, but this beep doesnt go offf. What could be possible reason for this problem ,Hardware/ Software?
I didnt install any new software on this system?

Answer:Satellite U200-10K beeps continuously

Such beeping is uncommon!! Usually the notebook could beep if the BIOS would detect an error. But this beep should not appear non-stop and the notebook would not boot up!!!

I can not believe that this issue could be also related to any software installed on the notebook.
In my opinion the notebook should be checked by an authorized service provider in your country.
One question; did you try to recovery the notebook with the delivered recovery CD?
This procedure would set the notebook back to the factory settings. If the beeps will not stop, I think there is something wrong with the hardware.

But don?t worry buddy! The warranty should be valid and would cover everything!!!!

Thank you

Answer:Question about HDD upgrade on Satellite Pro U200-128

Hi there,

yes it?s possible to upgrade to 250GB since that size probably the chipset (ICH7-M) can handle. Feel free to put such big drive in your machine and be happy. :)

Hello everyone

I was wondering if you guys can help me as i have broken the dc jack on my laptop, its only charging when the charger pin is in it at a certain angle and i can actually feel the jack in my laptop moving so its not the charger. I have tried looking for it over the internet but to no avail as i dont know the part number and even if i put the serial number on the website its not actually giving me the part number and maybe cause toshiba dont make them anymore :(
Now i am looking for power jack for Satellite Pro U200-199
Part Number : PLUA1E-01900JEN
Key Features
- Intel? Centrino? Duo Mobile Technology featuring Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor T7200
- Genuine Windows XP? Professional
- 100 GB Hard Disk Drive
- 1,024 (512+512) MB DDR2 RAM (533 MHz)
- 12.1" Toshiba TruBrite? WXGA TFT display
- Slim DVD Super Multi (Double Layer) drive

Any help would be greatly appreciated. ne last thing, i got some experience in hardware but not very good with soldering, would it require soldering or does it come with the wire which can be clicked into place.

Answer:Satellite Pro U200 - DC jack is broken

In the past I found several threads where people have reported about the same issue but on different notebook model. Obviously some of them have done good job and repaired it alone.
To find this DC jack is not a problem.

You can find it on eBay and it is not expensive. Put in google ?DC jack U200? and you will find it.

Problem is that whole notebook must be disassembled and new DC jack soldered in the right place.
Can you do this?
I mean if you don?t have experience with this stuff don?t touch anything and ask for professional help.

Model no: Satellite Pro U200 PLUA1E
OS: Vista Business SP2
Current BIOS: v. 3.50

Trying to update BIOS to v3.70

When I execute P0044v370, I receive following Windows Script Host message:

C:\ProgramData\Toshiba\Common\_cabBDF1.tmp\autoExe c.vbe
Line: 2
Char: 1
Error: Could not create object named "WScript.Shell".
Code: 8007007E
Source: WScript.CreateObject"

I want to update the BIOS prior to upgrading from 1GB to 4GB memory. Also my Pro U200 keeps crashing and each time before it reboots I get a message saying something like "Try installing latest BIOS" (it's not on the screen very long so sorry can't be more precise).

I no longer have the recovery CDs, am trying to boost performance as it's running very slowly.

Think that's everything- I'm in your hands good forum people! Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite Pro U200: cannot update BIOS to v.3.70-WIN

What Windows OS did you install.
Is it Win XP?

The BIOS update needs a installation of Common Modules? so be sure that Common Modules are installed or update this software.
The CM can be found on Toshiba European driver page?

Furthermore the P0044v370.exe unzips the package? I recommend creating an folder on desktop and to unzip the files in P0044v370.exe firstly. Then switch to this new folder and execute the exe file within the folder.
