Can I disable the Tcrdmain.exe in msconfig - Toshiba Flash cards

Question: Can I disable the Tcrdmain.exe in msconfig - Toshiba Flash cards

I don't use the Toshiba Flash cards - I just find them a nuisance, so I've stopped them appearing at the top of the screen. However, I note +tcrdmain.exe+ is still running, and eating up memory. Is it safe to disable this in msconfig?

(I'm running Vista business)

Preferred Solution: Can I disable the Tcrdmain.exe in msconfig - Toshiba Flash cards

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Can I disable the Tcrdmain.exe in msconfig - Toshiba Flash cards

Why shouldn?t be it safe? ;)
You can set it back if something will go wrong?.

You can try it.
Disable this background process in ?msconfig? a then boot the machine again.
After this short procedure you could check in task manager if the Tcrdmain.exe was disabled and if the notebook runs trouble free.

Hello!

I have a question:

when i hover my mouse on the upper edge of the screen, a series of shortcuts for different settings appear, like Mute, Lock, Power Plan, etc...

It's really annoying when i watch movies, because i can see a thin white line in the upper edge... so i want to know if i can somehow disable these icons? so they don't appear? i don't use them anyway so...

Here's a screenshot to make it easier for you if you didn't understand my ramblings :)

(Running Vista Home Basic on a Satellite L30)

The Flash Cards utility only really works if I use it soon after starting up my laptop. I often want to change the machine brightness after I've been using the machine for an hour or so, but the utility either ignores my attempts to move the slider down on the brightness setting, or shows it as at the lowest setting already (when it's actually at max).

So far the only solution I have found is to restart the machine! I cannot even seem to restart the programs instead--I can hunt it down in task manager and close it, right enough.... but then double clicking on TCrdMain.exe does nothing and the blooming thing won't reopen.

How do I restart the utility? And, have there been any updates to make this any more stable?

Answer:Flash cards (TCrdMain.exe) keeps crashing on Satellite L30

As far as I know you can disable and enable this Toshiba flash card under Programs -> Toshiba -> Utilities -> Settings for Flash Cards
Check this maybe it helps.

But usually the flash cards service can be enabled and disabled in the ?computer management?. Under ?Services? choose the Flash card service and start it again!!!

The problem is with those file TCrdMain.exe That file is for Flash cards, end running each time when I put my PC on (with starting windows). But I see that problem: "Run time error file TCrdMain.exe", and I should click close.

And One other question...
There are so many programs with that computer(laptop), and If I want to install Windows XP for example, where can I find everything (each programs) There are maybe 10 or 15 pograms.

That will be a big problem If I change my OS. Is there a site where I can download, everything....
Thanks for the answers, nd sorry about my english skills :-)

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I recently just rebooted my Satellite A200-195.

I found that my flash cards for my ?FN? hotkey function buttons have disappeared and do not pop up on top of the screen anymore.
However I am able to press the other function buttons on the keypad F1 - F8, part from the one that enables the mouse?F9?.

I have already uninstalled and installed the Value Added Package, Flash support utility and even tried to update the Bios but it seems my Bio is already the newest version.
After all this I seem to be able to enable my mouse pad ?F9? but my other function buttons are not working anymore and the flash cards still are not appearing like they use to.
Is there anything I can do to get my flash card to pop up back on screen without having to set my laptop back to factory default?

Answer:Satellite A200-195: TOSHIBA Flash Cards "black and white cards" not working

Have you tried to restart Flash cards?

What you can also try is to install ?Flash cards support utility? if you can find it on Toshiba download page.

Hi, essejyar, and welcome to the forums.

Can you give us a picture of the *exact* error message, or else write down what it is saying exactly?

As far as multiple user environment, sorry, XP and Vista are both built on the NT kernel (and advances made to said kernel) which means they support multiple users by default. There are a couple of things you can do to make it less intrusive, like automating your login and such, and you can make it easier to use, like disabling UAC, but to protect you from your own self, I'd not recommend these at all.

I am a 20+ year veteran of using computers and I leave UAC on - because then I don't have to run Ad-aware and Spybot and Malwarebytes and Spywareguard and lock down my hosts file and all those other fun things you needed on XP to keep it relatively safe from intrusion and malware....

Hi there.
Like to first off apologise if this is the wrong place to post this topic, but put it down to been new here and the fact that at this point I'm tearing my hair out!!!...
Just recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427, which runs Vista Premium, and in the main I'm pretty pleased with it.
No major problems...at least none that don't resolve themselves eventually.
This was however not until I noticed that my Toshiba Flash Card, which host the hot keys and some computer functions and which should drop down only when you point your cursor at the top of the screen, developed a mind all of its own and from time to time decided to make an unsolicited apperance and drop down without been prompted!
As it usually happens when I have just finished clicking on something or touched my mouse, I thought it might have something to do with the external optical mouse I was using so off I went to buy another one but of course the darn thing still does the same thing with the new mouse.
I have found a way to disable the flash cards, but I would rather be able to make use of them rather than turning the fuction off completely because of the annoying 'drop down'.
Someone mentioned to me that it may be a conflict between a program I've installed since getting the computer and the flash card program, but as itunes is the only major add-on I have installed, I wonder!?!...
Could this be another classic case of vista gone bad, or is there something else?

I'm working on a friend's Toshiba Satelite L775-S7307. I've reformatted it, put on a shiny new copy of Windows 7 64bit, and installed many of the drivers required to run the hardware.

Now out of the blue, immediately when I turn on the computer, a window titled "TOSHIBA Flash Cards" pops up saying "Win8-TestVersion". You can then click OK or Cancel, both which do nothing more than close the window.

I did a search for the Flash Cards program on the computer but couldn't find anything and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I've attached a picture of the screen immediately after being booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Origin of Toshiba Flash Cards?

Might be the card reader driver for the laptop. Chances are, Windows Update automatically installed what it thought was the right driver and ended up trying the Windows 8 one instead.

Go to Device Manager and see if you can see anything about the card reader there?

Just a quick question. Is there any way that I can have the animation at the top of my screen turned off and STILL have the function keys functional? When I'm running multiple programs and/or on battery power, it takes forever for the animation to pop out and it's just an annoyance. Anything to fix it? Any other software to make them functional? Or any upgrades?

My system is Windows Vista, just in case someone wants to know.
Thank you,

I assume you are an owner of the notebook with the Vista OS. The Toshiba Flash card is preinstalled software which controls visually the FN buttons.

The Toshiba flash cards are placed at the upper display edge. Usually they are not visible but if you will move the courser over this display area the Flash Cards should appear.

I don?t know why the message appears saying the Toshiba flash cards do not response.

I have the following problem: after the lat uptade from Microsoft (I believe the Fall Uptade...) everytime I try to shut the laptop down or restart it, I get the notification on the screen that Toshiba Flash Cards is preventing the computer from shutting down. I get two options - to cancel shutdown or force it. I tried turning the FN keys off from star up settings. However it did not help.

Has anybody ever had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I don't want to loose the FN keys, but i don't want to force a shutdown everytime either.

So any ideas?

Hey,

I've done some searching and it seems that both KeNotify.exe (Toshiba/Utilities) and TCrdMain.exe (Toshiba/Flashcards) are responsible for managing the Fn keys.

Could anyone please explain what each does separately, and what functionality will I loose if I remove them from startup?

Thanks a lot!

Answer:What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

Hi

From my knowledge the Flash Cards (visual FN button row at the top of the screen) appears pressing if one of the FN + F1-F9 key combination would be pressed.
If you remove both tools, I assume that this visual menu would not appear anymore and you will lose the FN button functionality.

But you can test this just for testing proposes without deleting both entries.
In search type msconfig. In msconfig choose Startup tab and here uncheck both exe files. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

If you want to get back these processes, access the Startup tab again and enable both processes once again.

Toshiba Flash Cards crashes on Vista when windows is set to use the "windows standard" colour scheme under appearance settings, (for your information, I prefer to use this mode as vista runs quicker, uses less battery power and less system ram in this mode).

However it does not crash immediately, instead it seems to crash whenever I rotate the screen (which happens quite often as I?m using a tablet pc) with the previous version of the software it crashed on boot however that seems to have been rectified with this version although not completely, however when it crashes it will not fully close even if i force task manager to end the process (rather than just the task).

Answer:Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

Hi

It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software ?Microsoft Money?.

Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240437]

I would recommend doing this:

1. Disable the Flash cards
2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
- regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
- regsvr32 sccbase.dll
- regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

4. Enable the Flash Card Utility again

Hello,

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Another thing that i have tried is to return to factory state with the system recovery discs given by the f... Read more

Answer:Satellite U300 PSU30C - Toshiba flash cards and accessibility tools issue

Hi

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook:
http://www.toshiba.ca => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

If it is, please please send me a steb-by-step procedure on how to do it. Thank you very much in advance!

if that doesn't work, you could navigate to windows folder > pchealth > Helpctr > binaries , then right click msconfig.exe, and go to security. then, you should be able to see his user name there. select it, then deny his privelages to it.

I'm trying desparately to resolve my XP Pro Shutdown Problems.

I ran msconfig to disable my non microsoft services & startup. I clicked apply, then clicked restart when prompted. My computer still froze when it got to the point where it says "windows is shutting down" (which I can't remember if it's supposed to get to that point for a restart or not). So I physically powered down, and restarted my computer, and all the start up programs were running again, as were all the non microsoft services.

What did I do wrong?

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cannot get any updates for my windows 10 PC - update service hanging - am now 1 year out of date
Tried to stop/start Windows Update service but that comes back with 'unable to stop service'

Tried this but every time I try to disable the services everything hangs (not responding) and I have to hard reboot the PC. Even tried just disabling a couple of services (printer related) and that froze everything too

Any help really appreciated

Hi, suggest you do an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data an most settings.

What is your Windows build?
Windows key + R, winver
If yours is 14393 or earlier, you will need to download an iso for the appropriate edition if you wish to do that.
Otherwise you can try upgrading to the Creator's build.1. First check your disk:
Download and run Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) and make sure all disks are reported as good.
If not, do not continue, and post back .

2. Now check your file system:

From an admin command or powershell prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
or
How to read Event Viewer log for Chkdsk in Windows 10 [Tip] | Reviews, news, tips, and tricks | dotTechdotTech
or
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.

3. An In-place upgrade repair install will fix many things, but not those where the settings are not changed by the procedure, or user account corruption.

For this you need an installation medium with the same base build as you have installed, and x64 if you have a 64 bits OS, else x86 (32 bits).

You should also make sure there's at least 500Mb of unallocated space on your system disk.

Hi guys,

Below is a screenshot I just took of my msconfig window, on the startup entries. What can I disable or remove, Is Juched necassary too? I do use Java for Limewire & Azureus, but is juched needed at startup?

Also, the cyberlink entried, and nero entry, also necassary? I use them both aswell, but are these entry's needed for them to function properly?

Also, if some can be disabled, should I disable them via MSCONFIG, or is their an option within that programs option/tools menu that I am not seeing?

I was also going to install quicktime, but decided not too becuase that adds a few startup entries, and I know there's a way to disable it within the program but it never stops ALL the startup entries, and I really don't like manually disabling startup entries, really prefer to stop a startup service via that programs options.

Hello,

I noticed that ImationFlashDetect.exe was running as a process, and found out that its listed in the Startup tab of msconfig. (I have windows xp). I don't want it to be running, so how can I disable it?

I tried to uncheck the box and it told me to restart, but then on restart it said that it was running in Diagnostic and Selective mode. Is there any way to run it in Normal mode and still remove Imation from the startup tab?

Answer:How to disable a startup item in msconfig?

Start> Run> type in 'msconfig' without quotes> enter> Selective Startup> Startup tab> UNCHECK the process> Apply> OK

Reboot> Close the nag message that comes up after checking 'don't show this message again'.

You must remain in Selective Startup after making the change. If you do not, Startup will revert back to before the change. The message is simply telling you that Selective Startup is a 'diagnostic mode' and many don't realize it can be retained.

My systems have been in Selective Startup since the first day I got them- after unchecking all the unnecessary items on the Startup menu. "All" you need on Startup is the AV program, firewall, touchpad if laptop and network process if on network. Some security suites are also set to run at Startup. But nothing else needs to be checked.

I'm having all sorts of problems trying to configure startup for windows. I disable a program, then after rebooting it starts up again and the checkbox is checked (in msconfig). When I try to enable a program, it does the opposite and wont run and the checkbox is empty after a reboot. also, some programs are listed twice. in the below example, i'm trying to disable 'amd hydravision' (which for whatever reason is listed twice) as you can see the checkboxes are unchecked. the next pic is right after restart. the box for the one hydravision is checked and the program is running.

i managed to get one of the applications to run by scheduling a task on startup, but i'd really rather not be using work-arounds. i still cant figure out how to get msconfig to keep the applications disabled. also, why would two of these applications be listed twice? any help would be appreciated.

This post needs two titles, really:
1) Disable Office in MSConfig = BSOD ??
2) Windows Startup Recovery = Formatted Hard Drive

I believe I did something very foolish today, and now it appears my computer may be formatted. The computer is running a LENOVO ideapad y570 with Windows 7 x 64bit (SP1), RapidDrive with 64GB SSD + 760GB HDD.

I performed a series of tweaks to improve startup. I restarted the computer after each tweak to measure startup time. I'll begin with the tweak that I believe initiated this problem:

1) Disabled Microsoft Office 2010 under MSConfig --> Startup
2) Restarted computer
3) Arrived at BSOD during windows boot
a) Error: Bad_System_Config_Info
4) Shut down and restarted the computer
5) Arrived at BSOD during wondows boot
a) Error: Bad_Registry_Key

6) Booted in SafeMode, boot successful
7) Enabled Microsoft Office 2010 under MSConfig --> Startup
8) Restarted computer
9) Arrived at BSOD during wondows boot
a) Error: Bad_System_Config_Info

10) Booted to Last Known Good Configuration
11) Arrived at BSOD during windows boot
a) Error: Bad_System_Config_Info

12) Booted in SafeMood with Networking
13) Arrived at BSOD during windows boot
a) Error: Bad_System_Config_Info

OK, so disabling Microsoft Office 2010 in MSConfig seems to be suicide. We can begin a discussion of whether this is correct. I proceeded from here, and things went from bad to worse...

15) Chose the option, "Restore your computer usi... Read more

Answer:Disable Office in MSConfig = BSOD ??

Never do a tweak unless you have a recovery CD/DVD.

You may have a cd disk in the cd tray, check and if so, remove it and reboot.

Check your BIOS start up otpions and have your hdd as primary boot.

If you do a Repair, you need to do it from a boot CD and not at desktop level.

I am trying to disable unecessary items from starting up and I'm curious about one from Microsoft called ehTray.exe. It is located in C/windows/ehome/

I know it has something to do with it loading a system tray icon related to the Media Center, but where is the icon? I went into the ehome folder found the ehTray.exe icon and tried to open it but nothing happened, I guess because it's already running, but what exactly is this running? I found the media center icon under the start menu and clicked on its properties and its exe name is something different, so I'm confused.

Is ehTray.exe essential or can I disable it from startup without major consequences? Has anybody turned this off under msconfig?

Thanks.

Hi

ehtray.exe is a process is the tray bar process for the Microsoft Media Center. It gives you easy access to the digital media manager. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.

This happened awhile back, my computer randomly decided that every time I logged on it would max out my CPU with the "System" process... I found this odd, and in my troubleshooting, like an idiot I disabled EVERY Service I had under MSCONFIG. This lead to my computer working somehow... I found out that it was a hole in my old Anti-virus "PC-Cillin" The proxy was maxing out my System process somehow... Anyway, figured that out, and removed it. Now, for the problem.

When I logged back on, re-enabled ALL services (After deleting PC-Cillin entirely) my computer worked fine... However, in the process of doing this, my login account somehow got screwed. Basically, when I logged on, it took me to a completely different user account. I later through registry and trial and error figured out that I was logging into a new profile labeled TEMP that had never existed before this fiasco. So, I went through registry and re-allocated all of my file paths and everything else manually. It's as though I still have my old account back. Just recently through my System properties under User Profiles I found that I have two owner accounts now. My original, and a new one. The original is 2.27GB in Size and the new one is 325MB. They're both Local, but my original say's it's "Backup" under status. It's also not been modified since November 2008. Under status the new one say's Local.

I am trying to disable a piece of software on my computer from running automatically during startup. However when I untick the box and hit apply I receive the error 'the parameter is incorrect' and it goes back to being ticked. At least it did this at first, now when I click apply it simply goes back to being ticked.

Now this is the kind of behaviour I would expect from a virus, however this is actually software that I installed from a manufacturer's website that is part of an anti-virus/web filtering service. I only actually use the VPN part of the software and did not install the anti-virus component. So I know the software isn't a virus, and I know it isn't just my computer as I have had the same thing happen on several other users computers.

My question is has anyone ever seen this kind of behaviour before? For a legitimate program? If so is there any way to get around it? I would like to keep using the software, I just want to disable the auto-run.

You'd think that this was a perfect world, where Normal Mode really was Normal Mode, and your Restore File from that Sunday was still there when you turned around.

Basically, while messing with the wrong things in msconfig, what's happened is that while trying to figure out what was preventing a specific program from running (which apparently at this point, was either something essential or a part of my hardware), I inadvertently removed my ability to run my system effectively, as the Normal Mode Boot is a joke, with half of my services still disabled, and half of my enabled services stopped. I can't even connect to the internet or network with that unit.

To be short about it, are there any ways to simply enabled and start all of those programs manually or through a program?

I must edit this post because of an important thing:

I could run windows 10 home in safe mode, using shift key, hold while clicking on restart.
Then i click on Parameters, and selected 4 or 5 to boot in safe mode.

If i use msconfig in normal boot mode, and i disable the geoloc service from there and try to use other type of boot method, it wont activate again.

So enable all services in safe boot from msconfig, fix everythings.

Don't use any method i describe, there is no need for it and can breack more msconfig and settings.

Hello,

Actually i dunno if this is a bug or not.
There is something wrong with ms config that happen everytime i try to click on disable all services, and enable them again.
Service in question that will not enable after clicking disable all services:
Geolocation Service (lfsvc)

In French it's something like: "Service de G?olocalisation"
I tryed to check normal boot, or enable it again in msconfig.
In services.msc:

couldn't find path.
I could start it or stop it, but not change it again to manual differed start type.
Potential fix in a bat file from batcmd website i found:

@echo off
sc config lfsvc start= demand
exit

I'm not sure if it's this thing that fixed or not the service.

But before using it, i exported lfsvc keys in regedit just in case, and deleted the service with sc service.(will breack geolocalisation and windows)

Hi I'm new here . I use Microsoft Windows XP 2005 Media Center edition.

And I have a problem. Quite recently I was using the msconfig to manage startup programs and services. I had to temporarily diasble all start up programs, and right after (no restart) i went to the services tab. I wanted to check the "hide all ms services" but accidentally i clicked on "disable all services." msconfig froze, so ended it and started it again. I went on the service tab and most of the services were gone (all essential & virusscan stayed).

Then I restarted it, and windows asked me to reactivate my account. I cliked on (do it through internet" and tried it. It didnt work. It said that there was no internet. I clicked on "remind me later" and the desktop loaded. My theme is now the classic theme! so i tried to change the theme and the the "blue/silver/olive" themes weren't there. So then i went to the help topics and it said "please run the help service" i did not know what this meant. So i thought that i should do system restore, but i couldn't! There was only one save point, and that was from when i just accessed system restore during this situation.

So then i tried putting in my wireless adapter again. Nothing. I checked the device manager and nothing was there! I tried to reinstall the drivers but nothing worked. And almost every usb device (except my mouse/keyboard and printer) didnt start anything. The "fou... Read more

Do flash cards and flash drives use the same technology? If so, would a utility designed for flash cards work on flash drives and vice-versa?

Answer:Flash Cards and Flash Drives

Yes, they use the same flash chips for storage. As for the utility.. It depends on what you want to do.

On application level a drive is a drive is a drive and there is no difference between working with a hard drive, a flash drive, a memory card, a zip drive, whatever.

I have a network of 2 desktop PC's. One is a new Compaq with an onboard network card and the other is an unbranded one with a seperate Realtek card. They are both connected to a Philips wireless router but the wireless is not used. They will work perfectly one minute and then the next time the Pc's are turned on one of the cards will have disabled itself. You can re-enable it in device manager and they will connect fine again. The only software running is McAfee A/V. Can anyone explain why this keeps happening?

Hi,

I disabled Intel(R) HD Graphics Family so my laptop could recognize another graphic card GeForce GT 550M (I went to Device Manager, than right click to disable Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.). However, the screen remains blank every time i turn on.

I have tried F2 and F12, it brings me to the setup page but I do not know what to do. I have also tried F8, but it never boots in safe mode. ( I kept pressing F8, I did not just press once, but nothing happened.)

What should I do? Thank you in advance for your reply.

*p.s. I was updating the Beta Profile Settings for battle.net. It shows the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family instead of GeForce GT 550M. That's why I tried to disable Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.

Hi everyone. Is there a way to disable a sound card remotely? I tried doing it through Computer Management and I couldn't because it doesn't allow disabling things remotely (it told me it was in read-only mode because I was accessing a remote machine). I have a few Windows XP SP3 PC's that need their sound cards disabled. They're all on a Windows domain network and I am a domain admin so I'm not worried about permissions. Let me know what you think.

Answer:Disable sound cards remotely

Get yourself a different prog to remotely access the computers. Like ultra VNC its free, and allows you to pull up the computers as if they were a webpage with full access to anything you would be able to do if sitting in front of them. MAKE SURE YOU PASSWORD PROTECT THEM, even if your the only one with access..

Lots of options in setting them up also, Like make it so they cant turn off the program that allows you to access the PC. ( my favorite)..

Hi, I have a question about my laptop/sd cards...

I'm a photographer and I need my SD cards to be read by my laptop. Now, recently I had hard drive troubles on my Toshiba laptop, so I had my neighbor/tech-guy look at it and "fix" it. However, when I got it back (a few months ago) the SD card reader wouldn't read any cards anymore. I have no idea why.

So, I started looking for online support. I found that if you go to Run... and type in devmgmt.msc you see a list of drivers and what not on your list there. I found out that mine does not have a Storage/Controllers option, which is supposedly where the SD card reader is supposed to be. So, I went to something else and clicked on a box that said "Don't hide empty folders," like another website told me to do, and I did, and nothing changed.

I also went and uninstalled a couple of different things I thought might have something to do with SD cards and them being read. I restarted the laptop, nothing. I did some updates, nothing. Currently, I am at a loss of what to do.

Anyone here think they can help me out? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I need my photos, and I won't always have flimsy connection cables to help me out. Gracias!

See I have had this ATI card for almost 2 years and have updated the drivers many times, and before you install the new ones, you must un-install all the old ones first. But you can't use the card with no drivers, so you must switch to the built-in card to install the new drivers. So after I switch to AGP in the BIOS (the ATI card was PCI), I could see the Windows XP start-up screen, but after that the screen went blank. I know it entered the desktop okay because I can hear the XP music, but I cant see anything. I have tried switching back to PCI, but the drivers are not installed, so it doesn't work. I have tried safe mode and VGA mode, but I still get a blank screen after the Windows screen. And I know their is nothing wrong with the monitor. Is their any way I can reinstall the built-in cards drivers. I just need a way I can see the desktop so I can install the ATI cards drivers. I thank the people here in advance for help.

Go into BIOS and make the change back to the onboard adapter. turn your computer off, not reboot. Remove your addon video card. When you restart your computer windows should not see the addon card any longer and start with the onboard adapter.

Question: USB Flash Cards?

I'm looking to buy a USB Flash Drive Card. I'm thinking about 256MB. Now do u guys have any suggestions on which cards are better? Is it worth to pay more for a brand name or not?

Answer:USB Flash Cards?

I doubt if the make matters - if it doesn't work you send it back. Of course only time would tell!
I have a cheap, neat, 128mb drive by Leadtek which folds like a pocket knife and came with a neck strap, USB lead and a Win98 drivers disk. It is for USB2 but I use it quite well with USB1.

I own a Portege A100 and have Windows 2000 installed. I used the Toshiba drivers CD to install all my necessary drivers. All seem to work except my LAN & WAN drivers. They install fine with no errors, however my LAN/WAN device comes up as unknown in Device Manager. I tried the "Reinstall Driver" menu option but that didn't find any drivers from the CD.

I went to the Downloads section of Toshiba website and found that there are no LAN/WAN drivers for Windows 2000, even though there are BIOS drivers for Windows 2000.

Am just wondering whether it's possible to tweak these Windows XP LAN/WAN drivers so that they can work for Windows 2000?

Or can Toshiba or Intel make Windows 2000 drivers for my LAN/WAN devices please?

Answer:HELP: pls make Win2k drivers for my Toshiba LAN/WAN cards

Hello

Problem is that your unit is not supported for W2000 and you will not find it on Toshiba download page. The only solution is to check hardware producer download page and check if you can find it there.

You can also try to find out if some other Portege model has the same hardware. It can happen that some other model is supported for W2000 users.

Good luck!

What type of modem have you got,USB or RJ45? Or have you got a router? Ideally, to save yourself a lot of time and for performance you should consider a wireless router.

Question: TCrdMain.exe

Hi,

I'm having an issue on my laptop with some virus called TCrdMain.exe. It started last night, first thing I did was run a full system scan using my McAfee suite, it came up with one corrupted file and removed it. I then restarted in safe mode and ran Malbytes Anti-Malware program and it came up completely clean. I shut my laptop down thinking everything was fine and when I restarted it I got the same TCrdMain.exe callout. It won't let me access the internet or any programs outside of McAfee. Is there anything else that I can do to get rid of this virus, I haven't been able to find anything online.

Answer:TCrdMain.exe

Hi,

I've run Superanitspyware in safe mode and it removed a lot of problems that were on my laptop, but after the computer rebooted I still had the worm.

After installing 4 GB of ram the SLI performance mode no longer works. I tried to bring it back to a Toshiba dealer but they told me that I voided the warranty o my computer by installing 4 GB of ram. The problem is only when the SLI is turned on, if I am only using 1 video card then everything runs fine, if not then the computer will turn aero on vista off by itself and it will not play any type of video file, if I try to load up a game then its all kinds of wacky colors (greens purples and blues) then soon after the whole engine of the game crash and error reports come up about my graphics cards. I tried to tweak the SLI performance mode and had some success that is I was able to play certain videos, but when I tried to play a game I continued to have the crazy colors. The only thing that I can think is that it is a driver issue, but I have no way of getting a hold of Toshiba since I am deployed to Afghanistan and they have the worst hours of operation ever. Toshiba has really let me down and they have been no help at all with helping me with my problem. I have searched all over the net for driver updates on 8600M GT video cards but I have came up with nothing, I have also updated my bios and my chip set, (also windows and other updates) but nothing is working and I am still short one graphics card.

Also, when I re-installed the 2 One Gig chips everything worked fine, but the problem is my computer has better performance with the 4 gigs. So the benefits are higher with th... Read more

Hello everyone

I wonder if its possible to use FN keys without toshiba flash cards on the top of the screen and so without installing the value added package?

some FN keys like brightness, mute, display switching and sleep are working without VAP
but I also have WiFi on/off, touchpad on/off, energy mode switching, zooming buttons, which are not working

again I dont want to have this flash cards utility always running and consuming ram

Answer:Using FN keys without flash cards

As far as I know something like this is not possible and if you want to have FN functionality ?flash cards? utility must run in the background.
This with RAM consuming is funny for me because if you disable it you will not see any difference in computer performance.

Maybe you should disable some other useless background processes that you don?t need.
If you have new notebook model with Win7 they have enough RAM for all operations and running flash cards will not have much influence on computer performance.

Has Toshiba started Windows 7 support?
Is your notebook Windows 7 supported?
Have you downloaded all tools designed for Windows 7?

Have you installed tools designed for Vista?
Can you expect full functionality using tools designed for other operating system?
Should I put more similar questions?

Do you understand why I ask so much?
Can you get the point?

Sirs,
I have just purchased a Konica Minolta Dimage A2 digital camera. I am shoot ing TIF, so I purchased a 512 compact flash card, which produces 20 pictures, versus 10 on the 256 card. My problem is that when I go to download the card to my computer (using '98) it produces some strange symbols and I cannot download my pictures. Is the Dimage A2 not compatible with the 512 cards, or if that's not the case, is there some other problem?

Hello Jehphotos, welcome to TSG.
Try formatting the 512 card using the format controls on your camera. Do not format using the computer. See if it cures your problem.
