Toshiba Flash Cards issue with Satellite A100-065

Question: Toshiba Flash Cards issue with Satellite A100-065

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-065 notebook with Mocrosoft Vista operating system. Every now and then, I get a message on top of my screen stating "Toshiba Flash Cards are not responding". I have to close the message before I can proceed. What could be the problem and how can this be resolved?

Would appreciate any help out there.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Toshiba Flash Cards issue with Satellite A100-065

maybe because powersaving issues? Could be possible that the system is switching the flashcardreader or is stopping the flashcardservice due to this powersaving settings.

Just a little suggestion: remove all flashcard related tools/drivers, download the latest versions of that software from the toshiba website
( and reinstall it.

Maybe you can solve that error with performing a reinstall?

Please give some feedback

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Another thing that i have tried is to return to factory state with the system recovery discs given by the f... Read more

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook: => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I recently just rebooted my Satellite A200-195.

I found that my flash cards for my ?FN? hotkey function buttons have disappeared and do not pop up on top of the screen anymore.
However I am able to press the other function buttons on the keypad F1 - F8, part from the one that enables the mouse?F9?.

I have already uninstalled and installed the Value Added Package, Flash support utility and even tried to update the Bios but it seems my Bio is already the newest version.
After all this I seem to be able to enable my mouse pad ?F9? but my other function buttons are not working anymore and the flash cards still are not appearing like they use to.
Is there anything I can do to get my flash card to pop up back on screen without having to set my laptop back to factory default?

Answer:Satellite A200-195: TOSHIBA Flash Cards "black and white cards" not working

Have you tried to restart Flash cards?
Start > All programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards.

What you can also try is to install ?Flash cards support utility? if you can find it on Toshiba download page.

Resource Monitor shows 100% CPU usage constantly in recent weeks (not a problem for the first 6 months that i owned the machine) with 85-99% of my CPU being used on 2 entries each shown as "Toshiba Flash Cards", any idea why, and how I can sort this out as it slows everything down? many thanks

Answer:Satellite P200-1EE 100% CPU usage due to Toshiba Flash Cards

Are the correct ATI/nVidia graphics drivers installed? Make sure the Graphics card is not using standard VGA drivers in Device Manager.

Also try this:

1) uninstall the Toshiba Value Added Package in Control Panel -> Programs and features
2) Download and install the latest TVAP from the Toshiba Drivers/Support Website
3) Reboot.

Hello dear forum users,

I have a BIOS virus and nothing seems to help. First I installed a BIOS version from 1.10 to 1.30(.exe), then I wiped my HDD completely and installed the newest version, which is 1.40. Now I can't reinstall the BIOS, because it says the version is the same as that installed on my laptop(1.40). Is there a flashable BIOS installation for this laptop? I couldn't find one in toshiba europe's driver page.

one little suggestion: remove the FN-key software and install a downloaded version. Make sure that everything from that FN-key software was properly removed from the system, so you can be sure that nothing will disturb the newly installed version.

Maybe it helps, please give a feedback if it works...

Hi everyone!

I don't know how, but I have a problem when my windows Vista starting (running)
The problem is with those file TCrdMain.exe That file is for Flash cards, end running each time when I put my PC on (with starting windows). But I see that problem: "Run time error file TCrdMain.exe", and I should click close.
I don't know where can I uninstall that program, and where, can I find that driver(Software) ( If I uninstall and then install that driver, maybe everything will be OK). That's the main problem.

And One other question...
There are so many programs with that computer(laptop), and If I want to install Windows XP for example, where can I find everything (each programs) There are maybe 10 or 15 pograms.

That will be a big problem If I change my OS. Is there a site where I can download, everything....
Thanks for the answers, nd sorry about my english skills :-)

Did you install the right BIOS for the right OS?
You should know that Vista uses an different BIOS as the Windows XP!

Anyway, did you try to reinstall this Toshiba Flash Card Utility?
Please do this.

Firstly you should reinstall the Toshiba Common Modules and then the Flash Card Utility. Both programs can be found in the Toshiba Value added package.

I have a problem with the flash cards not responding on my Equium A100-27 Notebook.
It's been gradually getting worse over several months, during which time Windows would notify me that "Toshiba Flash Cards Not Responding" and invite me to search for a solution and close the programme.

This always resolved the problem, but recently not only do the flash cards not work so that I cannot, for example turn the touchpad on or off, but Windows is no longer notifying me and searching for a solution.
The problem appears to be entirely circular, because Microsoft don't want to know if you bought your computer with operating system already installed (Why? Perhaps they can't afford proper customer support!) and Toshiba offer no means at all of communicating with them directly, other than at prohibitive cost.

Am I the only person in the world to conclude that this appalling lack of any meaningful customer support is clearly indicative of a "Sod you - I'm only interested in sales and profit" attitude and is there any kind soul out there who can offer the possibility of a solution?

Answer:Equium A100-27 - Flash cards not responding

HI lacourtade,

First of all keep cool!!!
Why you get worked up over that? Such things can happen, nobody and no notebook is perfect. Furthermore you have tried nothing as yet and I think your problem can be solved in few minutes so listen up:

The Flash Cards that you mean are a part of Value Added Package. So you should try to reinstall this Toshiba tool and you can download the latest version here: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Before you install the latest version, remove the old one firstly. Then restart the notebook and install the version that you have downloaded.

Good luck! :)

Hi, essejyar, and welcome to the forums.

Can you give us a picture of the *exact* error message, or else write down what it is saying exactly?

As far as multiple user environment, sorry, XP and Vista are both built on the NT kernel (and advances made to said kernel) which means they support multiple users by default. There are a couple of things you can do to make it less intrusive, like automating your login and such, and you can make it easier to use, like disabling UAC, but to protect you from your own self, I'd not recommend these at all.

I am a 20+ year veteran of using computers and I leave UAC on - because then I don't have to run Ad-aware and Spybot and Malwarebytes and Spywareguard and lock down my hosts file and all those other fun things you needed on XP to keep it relatively safe from intrusion and malware....

Hi there.
Like to first off apologise if this is the wrong place to post this topic, but put it down to been new here and the fact that at this point I'm tearing my hair out!!!...
Just recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427, which runs Vista Premium, and in the main I'm pretty pleased with it.
No major least none that don't resolve themselves eventually.
This was however not until I noticed that my Toshiba Flash Card, which host the hot keys and some computer functions and which should drop down only when you point your cursor at the top of the screen, developed a mind all of its own and from time to time decided to make an unsolicited apperance and drop down without been prompted!
As it usually happens when I have just finished clicking on something or touched my mouse, I thought it might have something to do with the external optical mouse I was using so off I went to buy another one but of course the darn thing still does the same thing with the new mouse.
I have found a way to disable the flash cards, but I would rather be able to make use of them rather than turning the fuction off completely because of the annoying 'drop down'.
Someone mentioned to me that it may be a conflict between a program I've installed since getting the computer and the flash card program, but as itunes is the only major add-on I have installed, I wonder!?!...
Could this be another classic case of vista gone bad, or is there something else?

I'm working on a friend's Toshiba Satelite L775-S7307. I've reformatted it, put on a shiny new copy of Windows 7 64bit, and installed many of the drivers required to run the hardware.

Now out of the blue, immediately when I turn on the computer, a window titled "TOSHIBA Flash Cards" pops up saying "Win8-TestVersion". You can then click OK or Cancel, both which do nothing more than close the window.

I did a search for the Flash Cards program on the computer but couldn't find anything and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I've attached a picture of the screen immediately after being booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Origin of Toshiba Flash Cards?

Might be the card reader driver for the laptop. Chances are, Windows Update automatically installed what it thought was the right driver and ended up trying the Windows 8 one instead.

Go to Device Manager and see if you can see anything about the card reader there?

Answer:Toshiba flash cards don't response

I assume you are an owner of the notebook with the Vista OS. The Toshiba Flash card is preinstalled software which controls visually the FN buttons.

The Toshiba flash cards are placed at the upper display edge. Usually they are not visible but if you will move the courser over this display area the Flash Cards should appear.

I don?t know why the message appears saying the Toshiba flash cards do not response.
Maybe a reinstallation could helps.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 SK4 with French version of Windows XP SP2. A coupe of weeks ago I spilled some tea (no sugar) on the keyboard. Shut the power down, although it took me a few minutes longer to realize that the battery needed to be removed as well. Left the laptop turned upside down for three days to dry. After that it powered up OK but the keyboard was totally out of sync (typing other characters or not functioning at all). Removed and cleaned the keyboard - there were no visible signs of residue anywhere else. Reinstalled the keyboard but it was just as before.
Got a USB keyboard and was able to use the laptop for a couple of days. Then, suddenly it just will not power up. HDD is fine I have removed it and just backed everything up on a USB using another computer. Reinstalled HDD, F2 and F12 are working but it still doesn?t boot. Only once, after reinstalling the HDD did I get past the Toshiba screen and Windows, sent a couple of e-mails, deleted all photos, opened internet, got Skype and Net Viewer connected and working. Answer:Satellite Pro A100 - No Recovery CD - Can I use the Toshiba key?

The serial key which you have found at the bottom of the unit belongs to the preinstalled Toshiba Windows OS and it?s a OEM key which will NOT work with other Windows XP disks.

This mean that if you want to install the Windows XP on this notebook then you have to purchase the Toshiba Recovery disk again from the ASP in your country or you will take a original Microsoft Win XP disk and will use this disk and the key which belongs to this Win XP OS.

You?ve got these two options.

any ideas why this is, is it possible 1 core burned out?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A100 wrong cpu

Centrino is a configuration not a mobile processor. You can download and install the Intel Processor ID utility and let it identify the processor for you.

I don't use the Toshiba Flash cards - I just find them a nuisance, so I've stopped them appearing at the top of the screen. However, I note +tcrdmain.exe+ is still running, and eating up memory. Is it safe to disable this in msconfig?

(I'm running Vista business)

Answer:Can I disable the Tcrdmain.exe in msconfig - Toshiba Flash cards

Why shouldn?t be it safe? ;)
You can set it back if something will go wrong?.

You can try it.
Disable this background process in ?msconfig? a then boot the machine again.
After this short procedure you could check in task manager if the Tcrdmain.exe was disabled and if the notebook runs trouble free.

anyone tried to install Windows Seven ? I tried it.
Everything works fine (Wlan, Lan, Sound, etc), but one thing is unable to work on my laptop: Toshiba Flash Cards.
I installed driver and nothing happened...

Any idea to solve this problem? Because I usually used it in Vista.

Thanks and sorry for my english ;-)

Answer:Qosmio F50-108 - Toshiba Flash Cards does not work with Windows 7

The Toshiba Flash Cards has been designed for the Windows Vista only

The Windows 7 is very similar to the Vista and many drivers could and would run with Windows 7 but in very rare cases some tools would be not fully compatible?

The Toshiba Flash Cards is not a driver; it?s a utility which seems to be not compatible with Windows 7?

I've done some searching and it seems that both KeNotify.exe (Toshiba/Utilities) and TCrdMain.exe (Toshiba/Flashcards) are responsible for managing the Fn keys.

Could anyone please explain what each does separately, and what functionality will I loose if I remove them from startup?

Thanks a lot!

Answer:What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

From my knowledge the Flash Cards (visual FN button row at the top of the screen) appears pressing if one of the FN + F1-F9 key combination would be pressed.
If you remove both tools, I assume that this visual menu would not appear anymore and you will lose the FN button functionality.

But you can test this just for testing proposes without deleting both entries.
In search type msconfig. In msconfig choose Startup tab and here uncheck both exe files. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

If you want to get back these processes, access the Startup tab again and enable both processes once again.

My satelite A100 does not support my sandisk 4 GB SDHC card.
"normal" SD cards are not a problem with the internal card reader, and there are no problems with the sandisk 4 GB SDHC card using a external card reader.

is there a software solution?

Answer:My Satellite A100 does not support SDHC cards with the internal card reader

I do not have time to read users manuals for your notebook model but all supported cards can be listed there. I suppose SDHC is not listed and not supported.

I do not know what you mean with software solution but, as far as I know, update for multimedia card reader is not available.

I have been having Google misdirect issues. Hitman Pro 3.5 picked up syntp.sys as a trojan on my laptop which has a touchpad below the keyboard. I reloaded touchpad drivers from the Toshiba website without first removing the program "Synaptics pointing device driver" in the add/remove program section of Windows XP. Result was the keyboard and touchpad not working but USB mouse still functioning. Seemed to clear up misdirect issue when using google and the mouse Restored computer to prior state where everything is now working and syntp.sys trojan is present based on Hitman scan. As well on checking the device drivers I noticed the presence of (cmd vmkd) Virtual Bus with an "i" enclosed in a yellow circle opposite it in the directory. I understand from blogs that this is an issue.

I also have Symantec Antivirus installed and on checking the folders, I see that it recently quarantined a file called "vbmaefc.sys" - Hacktool Rootkit.

Any help you can give me to clear this up would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I am using Windows 7 Professional - not the RC.
The Fn + Brightness Up/Down doesn't work - in fact, none of the Fn key combinations seem to work. The slider controls through control panel > power settings OR the windows mobility center, do not work either.Any known causes/solutions to this problem?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A100-SK8 Screen Brightness

We need to install a driver (or program) for the Function key combinations. It should be provided by the computer manufacturer.
I tried to search for the A100-SK8 but failed to find it. Please refer following link:
Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
If your computer can be found on the website, let's check if there is any newer program related to Fn key function. If so, download and install them.
If failed to find, we may need to contact Toshiba for further help.
In addition, I suggest that let's confirm with Toshiba to see if Windows 7 is available for the computer. If there is no Wnidows 7 driver provided for the computer, some function keys may not work.

I have recently installed a new driver for toshiba assist for my A100-599, it is dated 14/2/2008.

Answer:Toshiba Assist problem on Satellite A100-599

are you sure you?ve downloaded the appropriate Assist for your machine? Maybe you confounded the models or something. The first step which I can suggest you is to:
1. Download, install and execute some registry cleaner
2. Uninstall the Toshiba Assist
3. Repeat step 1.)
4. Install the latest version of the Assist
5. Check if it works - if not check the Driver Download site and *update* *all* *drivers*
6. If this also does not resolve your problem, come here again, maybe we?ll find some other solution

I have ordered a 1GB stick of memory from Crucial and decided to have a trial run accessing the memory slot. The single Philips head screw retaining the memory cover is easily unscrewed but does not lift out of the cover. The cover then seems to be reluctant to lift off. Does anyone have any info on this seemingly simple task as I do not want to damage the lappy?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 memory upgrade

and the memory cover comes off without too much trouble. Make sure the screw is fully undone, and then gently lever off the cover using a screwdriver or knife under the small tab.The cover has two smaller tabs on the sides, and these click into (and out of) slots.Just take it gently but firmly, and I'm sure the cover will come off.

I am wanting to format and reinstall windows back to its factory state as its running really slow. I dont recall on having a recovery cd on buying and was told i just need to push an F key on boot up as recovery files are on hard drive. Is this correct?

Answer:Re: Toshiba Satellite A100-332 Recovery Question

No this is not correct. On this older notebook model Toshiba didn?t offered HDD recovery image. Recovery image is saved on DVD media. When you want to install recovery image using DVD recovery media you can use F button at the startup.

To install HDD recovery (if saved on HDD) there is another way to do this.
So what you can do is to order original recovery media or install operating system using Microsoft installations CD/DVD.

I have a Toshiba A100 Satellite psaa9a-118038 notebook. When I put a CD or DVD into the drive the disk spins up and in many cases it causes the computer to freeze. The only way to get out of this 'locked problem' is to hold the off/on power button to close the computer then restart again. I have taken the notebook into Toshiba for repair 3 times, the CD has been replaced. A problem CD that was copied on their computers then the copy run on mine does boot up and runs without problems. The tech at toshiba suggested my problems could be related to having installed the software for my Lexmark printers, and this has caused my problems. He suggested that the CD rom had picked up some code the then prevented other cds beinag able to load.Has anybody come across this problem before and can you help with a solution. Because this problem has been going on for a number of months I feel like dropping my Toshiba from a high building and never buying another Toshiba, but I may damage the pavement!

Answer:Toshiba A100 Satellite CD/DVD drive problem

I dont see why Lexmark software could be the cause, however have you tried uninstalling the Lexmark software and run ccleaner click here and reboot, then try your cd/dvd drive again.Couple of things to try;Uninstall the drive in Device Manager and reboot, let windows find and install the drive again.Check the drive is set to DMA and not PIO,reset tool click hereReset the drive with this tool from Doug Knox click hereFinally look for and remove any upper and lower filters,Then follow these directions for clearing the Upper/Lower Filters: (might want to print this out)1. Click on Start --> Run --> and type in 'regedit' followed by the enter key ( if Vista Start search or windows+R )2. Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or3. clicking the "+" next to it.)4. Expand the "SYSTEM" Key5. Expand the "CurrentControlSet" Key6. Expand the "Control" Key7. Expand the "Class" Key8. Please look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers:{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}9. High light this key by left clicking once on it10. On the right hand side you are looking for "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" under the "Name" column, once you find these please delete them by right clicking on them and choosing "delete"11. I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-259 laptop and I want to upgrade the RAM from 1gb to 2gb, which is supported by this laptop. Problem is the laptop will not boot up after I have installed the new RAM, instead it starts up for a few seconds and turns off again, it then repeats this process about 5 - 6 times before switching off totally.
I initially thought the RAM wasn't compatible but when I put one of the new 1gb RAM modules in with one of the original 512mb modules the laptop boots up fine and shows 1.37gb of RAM available (I presume remainder of RAM is used for graphics). I can change the 1gb module with the other 1gb module and laptop still boots fine, proving that the new 1gb RAM modules work in this laptop independently, they will just not work together. Bios has been updated, so I have absolutely no idea why the new RAM will not allow my laptop to boot up.
Any ideas and / or solutions to this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there.

My wife's laptop is a Satellite A100. She has been using Windows 7 on it since the Beta, and she has been having a good experience with it. I was able to install the ATI drivers on the Win7 Beta without issue. And I was able to change the resolution from 1024x768 to something more tolerable.

Now that I have installed Win7 RC on her machine it doesnt allow me install the ATI Catalyst drivers. It says "Failed to find any installable components" and then my only option it to quit.

I also tried via "Device Manager" to update the driver and it allowed me to select the INF for the ATI driver so now it says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and "ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series" as the chipset.

Under "List All Modes" the highest res is 1024x768.

Any idea what I should do? Why did this work with Beta but not now? I saw the sticky about Catalyst drivers but my old display adapter isnt mentioned there on the AMD site.

Hi All,

Yes ... I tried the Site at " " but could not find the Drivers nor the Manual for this Product. Appreciate from all you Computer Guru's if you could help me find this Product Manual and its drivers for Xp, so that I could install them on this Laptop.

Your Assistance will be of Immense Help. THanks

Answer:Solved: Toshiba Satellite A100 XP Drivers

There probably are none. Toshiba are the only ones that would have drivers for their proprietary hardware devices.

Vista is a far superior operating system and supports the new hardware which you can't use with XP. It can be made to look and act almost identical to XP.

I have this Laptop since 2006 and i dont feel like buying a new one ($$$$), i only wish i could change the processor to unleash it from its 32bit slowness. Is it possible to make a 32bit laptop 64bit compatible by changing the processor? If not could i change the motherboard or it would be too much of a hassle?I'm new to this whole game and willing to learn.Thank you!

Answer:Can a Toshiba A100 Satellite 036 Laptop be upgraded?

Simple answer: NO.Here is why.A 64 bit processor must be used in a motherboard built for the larger memory space. Because the advantage of 64 bit is mostly the larger address space available. (Many laptops already had a 64 bit data bus.)Laptops are not made to be updated like desktops can be.The notable exception is a laptop that allows a video card to be added. Here is how a laptop could be upgraded.(Follow the links in the above web page.)IMO, you may consider selling your laptop and getting a new one. A lot of improvements have been made in  the past 9 or ten years after you got your laptop. For one, the batteries are now better and now fast laptops use less power..  And, of course, they run either 32 bit or 64 bit software. How good it would be if our computers were easier to upgrade.Hope this helps.

Toshiba Flash Cards crashes on Vista when windows is set to use the "windows standard" colour scheme under appearance settings, (for your information, I prefer to use this mode as vista runs quicker, uses less battery power and less system ram in this mode).

However it does not crash immediately, instead it seems to crash whenever I rotate the screen (which happens quite often as I?m using a tablet pc) with the previous version of the software it crashed on boot however that seems to have been rectified with this version although not completely, however when it crashes it will not fully close even if i force task manager to end the process (rather than just the task).

Answer:Solved: help to reinstall VISTA OP on toshiba Satellite A100

Reinstalling is sometimes the best and fastest way to sort out a problem, but can also be a major time drain and source of frustration. If you prefer you could detail exactly what problem is prompting you to reinstall, and we could consider addressing that instead.

The process will empty your drive itself, which means that you don't have to do any wiping (unless you want to sell/give away the computer). It also means however that all programs and files on your computer will be lost. Make backups of important files (Documents, pictures, etc) before you reinstall.

Another point to bear in mind if you suspect a Virus caused the problem, is to ensure that you install Anti virus software immediately, before trying to replace your backups.

If you have two disks one will be for the Operating System (Windows) and the other will have Toshiba Software and drivers. Make sure that you use the Operating System Disk.

To use the recovery CD you have to boot from it--basically load its own Operating system which does the work of replacing Windows. You don't put it in while Windows is running--Windows very sensibly protects itself from being overwritten. When your computer first turns on and before you get to Windows, you should see the POST screen. At the bottom it prompts you to press F2 for Setup or F12; you have to press F12. Actually the easiest way is to repeatedly press F12 from the moment you turn it on until you get the menu.

The menu in question should give y... Read more

Hello all. I am very new here. By very new I mean this is my first time posting on a Tech forum. I very often search for answers and appears a lot with solutions to practically every question I can think of.
Today I am stumped and running short on time.

My colleague from work, who is quite poor with computers and setting up and stuff, so I told him I would help him by removing Vista from his system and installing windows XP.
I know that this day and age I should be upgrading him to Windows 7, but I dont have that CD.

What I have done is this:

Installed a Windows XP Professional for a DELL onto his Toshiba Satellite A100-033.
I already knew (thanks to forums) that I would need to install the drivers for many of the devices after Windows XP installed. Oh I should mention, When installing XP I deleted the partition that originally hosted Vista, and formatted the drive to NTSF (forgive me if the arconym isnt exactly correct).
After installing XP, I searched Device Manager for the yellow ? marks. I currently have 7 yellows:

+ ? Other devices
- ? Ethernet Controller
- ? Ethernet Controller
- ? Mass Storage Controller
- ? PCI Device
- ? SM Bus Controller
- ? Video Controller
- ? Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I have searched tirelessly for the drivers.
Toshiba website said thhis model is discontinued.
However, I thought I could find them somewhere else in the WWWeb.
Unfortunately I could not.
I found some unlicensed program which suppose... Read more

Answer:Need to find Toshiba Satellite A100-033 drivers? Do they still exist?

If the PC you are working on was bought with Vista pre-installed on, then installing XP should be ok as far as the hardware is concerned.
You can try a program to automatically do the searching for you, but it's not always 100% correct, and you may be left with a few to find.
This one seems to work fairly well;
You will need the product key that was supplied with the installation disc, to activate windows.
You should be able to get the Video card driver from either Nvidia or AMD (or SIS), from the information in 'Device manager'. the 'update driver' option can work, but sometimes has been known to download an old version of the driver.

When I try to activate the HW Setup a message box appears with the message: Gemeinsame Module wurde beendet.
I thought a programm would guide me through the HW Setup as described in the Toshiba Benutzerhandbuch.

What I really wanted to do is:
1. I have to connect a second monitor to my notebook today in the evening.
2. When I hit Fn+F5, my screen gets dark. Hit Fn+F5 again: screen is normally activated.
I expected to see a selection box where I can choose the monitor configuration. (This happened in the past).

I figure that these drivers are archived with Toshiba but I have been through their site and cant find it anywhere.

Hi All,

Has anyone faced a problem where the Laptop freezes on Toshiba Leading Innovation. The strange part is that when you plug the laptop to an external monitor, everything works fine.
I tried to replace the LCD, Inverter, VGA (its Nvidia 256), LCD cable and still the same problem.
Upgraded the bios to version 6.0 still the same. Read in some forum that downgrading to version 5.90 will solve so did it but still the same.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the TPM error I am receiving. when I turn on the laptop and press Esc before it freezes, after the memory check it says like "No TPM or TPM has problem" (note that this error is displayed even when you plug to an external monitor but on external everything works fine. and after loading windows if you switch the monitor to the laptop LCD the laptop works fine with no problems)

I check in Bios, the TPM option is grayed so you cannot enable or disable it from BIOS.

Answer:Satellite A100-906 - Freeze @ Toshiba Leading Innovation

hi magadem,
try the following:
- apply new thermal greas on cpu & gpu
- update bios to the latest available
- after bios update *disable* TPM in bios
- reinstall grafics driver with the latest available *on toshiba* download site

porblem solved? good!
if not:
if this action dont solves your problem the tpm-chip and/or mainboard has a serious problem...
then you have to chabge the mobo...

since these mainboards are highly integrated circuits there may occour errors and side effects that seem not to be related to the main problem,

I upgraded Toshiba Satellite A100-998 with XP Media Centre to Windows 8 Pro. Before upgrade the screen resolution was 1280x800 on a NVIDIA GeForce Go7300 graphics adapter.

Windows 8 pro upgrade has installed only the Standard Microsoft Graphics Adapter of 1028x600. I have searched registry for Display1_DownScalingSupported key but it does not exist.

I have attempted to find another driver on the NVIDIA and Toshiba web support but I am unsure what would be the right one.
The laptop clearly can support the higher resolution can one offer any idea on how to resolve the issue.

Answer:Dislay Resolution only 1028x600 on Toshiba Satellite A100

Hi people

An update to my post with a solution that worked for me which mercifully was easy to do

Downloaded from Windows?7. Your PC, simplified. and deployed the NVIDIA Display Driver version which installed the GeForce G07300 Display Adapter which is the same as when the laptop had XP. The screen resolution is now back to 1280x800.

I just had an upgrade from Windows Xp to Windows 7.

I downloaded and installed all the drivers for this model from Toshiba web site, including the ATI mobility radeon X1600 driver and the Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Controller 0.

Later, while trying to set the screen resolution, I realized I could only choose between 1024x768 or 800x600, but i am sure that before upgrading I could set also the 1280x800 resolution (maximum display resolution). In fact the display resolution was much better than now.

Can you please help me? How can I go back to the maximum display resolution?

Thank you in advance and kind regards.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A100-683 - 1280x800 display resolution

Once more here to add some details: I have tried to install the ATI mob. rad. + Nvidia display drivers which can be downloaded from this site for Satellite A100-683 + windows 7.
The second (Nvidia) seems to be the right one as stated in the description (enhances the functionality of the display and allows different settings, etc.), but it doesn't seem to work.

Any help? Thanx

Hi all,

I hope I can get some help from all the genius here. My model is Satellite A100 and it comes with the media button beside the keyboard (i.e.Open Internet Browser, Open WMP 10, Play/Pause, Stop, etc). However I facing with the problem that all this buttons do not work until I need to open the program- TfncKy.exe in the C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Controls. It is so inconvenient for me to open this program every time after I shut down my computer.(It works fine when I hibernate the laptop). So guys, I really hope can seek some valuable advice from you. I just bought this laptop one month ago. I look forward with the solution here. Thanks. =)

Answer:Satellite A100- Toshiba Controls Program -TFncKy.exe

Did it initially work or has it always been this way? If it worked initially, try downloading a BIOS update, and then download the Toshiba controls program as well and reinstall it. If these do not work, go to start-->Control Panel-->Administrator Tools-->Services. From there make sure that the program is activated automatically when the computer is turned on. Hope this helps you.

I have just bought a Satellite A100(psaa8)
I have found with it a paper tells that I can upgrade to Vista and theirs a link but it doesn't work.

So can you please help me with that, as i have get bored from XP.

I have read that some of the members ordered a free vista cds.
Can you tell me how I order it and is it good or bad??

Answer:Satellite A100 PSAA8: How to order the Toshiba XP -> Vista upgrade CD

As far as I can remember this offer was limited by date! I think you are too late dude!
But why you are bored?! The XP is really nice OS and fully compatible with all 3rd party devices!
The Vista needs much more recourses as XP and runs slower as XP. If you want to play games on your notebook I would recommend staying with XP! All the games run faster on XP OS!

Do you know the Vista Customization Pack?? This allows you to use XP but it looks like a Vista.
You know, the whole images, icons, etc? will transform to the Vista look.

It?s nice and for people who wants to change the ?old? XP style to new Vista style ;)

When I switch on with mains power connected, I get a false error message which says "Toshiba Power Saver already started".
How do I get rid of this message permanently?

Answer:Satellite A100 - message: Toshiba Power Saver already started

Try uninstalling the Toshiba Power Saver from "Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel.

Then download and install the latest Toshiba Power Saver from the Toshiba Website.

I download new driver for nvidia video card from toshiba site, but when I try install it, I receive response what no supported video card found.

I install driver to A100-003 notebook.

Answer:Satellite A100-003: Cannot install the new NVidia driver from Toshiba site

that sounds really weird. Are you sure you?ve downloaded the right drivers for your machine? Which system do you have? XP or Vista?
Maybe you?ve downloaded a Vista version and you have XP. It would be useful and nice if you tell which system you have.

An other solution would be to visit this site:

There you will find the newest drivers which must work. But be careful before you install something and read the FAQ section on the site!

Good luck and nice weekend

I have this notebook and installed the Vista Ultimate on it. Where I can find the Toshiba Extended Tiles for Windows Mobility Center - there are not these Tiles on the page with the drivers for this kind of Toshiba notebook.
Or they are not nesessary for the A100-233?

Answer:Satellite A100-233 (PSAA8) and Toshiba Extended Tiles for Vista

Such titles are not necessary to get better Vista performance on the Satellite A100!

All available Toshiba Vista utilities and drivers can be found on the Toshiba European driver page. If you will not find this tiles on the Toshiba driver page then this application is not available.

But before you will give up you should download the Toshiba Vista Value Added Package because this package contains many additional tools a utilities like
- TOSHIBA Components Common Driver
- TOSHIBA Power Saver
- TOSHIBA Flash Cards
- TOSHIBA PC Diagnostic Tool

Best regards

hello everybody!
I've just installed Vista on my laptop (originally i had Win xp on it)
First i have installed video drivers from
Then I've installed bios update and toshiba value added package.
But toshiba power manager doesn't work!
Vista uses only its tools to manage battery.
Can you help me?

Thank you!

Answer:Satellite A100: Toshiba Power Manager doesn't work

Why do you suggest that the Power Saver doesn?t work correctly?
Do you get any error messages or what?

The Toshiba power saver for Vista is not the same like for the Win XP.
You can find some additional options in the Vista Power options!!!

There you can choose an between 3 different power option.
Choose one and click on the link below ?change the Power options?

The new window should appear and there you can click on the link called ?Change Advanced Power settings?.
In new window you could see the Toshiba Power Saver settings.

Notebook A100-097

I am experiencing a problem with my keyboard's special *FN keys* managed by the program "*TACSPROP.exe*" which is in *C:\Programmi\Toshiba\Utilities\.*
This program is not starting automatically at boot and also if I run it manually from it's path a window is coming saying *"Questo sistema non può utilizzare Toshiba Accessibility"*(in Italian: "*This system cannot use Toshiba Accessibily*").

I cannot identify the proper installer for the program in the list of drivers you provide on the support download page but I can tell you that the program is in the same directory where the Software *Hardware Support* is installed.

Please, can you provide me with the installer for this program? I think I'll have to try reinstalling it.
Is it possible it has been marked as a Spyware from Vista or AVG? Maybe some windows update changed something...

Please HELP!!!

Thanks in advance

Answer:Toshiba Accessibilty TACSPROP (Fn keys) is not working on my Satellite A100

These kinds of problems are very strange for me and I am asking myself why this happen. The fact is that recovery image (recovery DVD) is very good configured and there is definitely no problem with FN keys usage. All those FN keys functions are tested and it must work well. All necessary services will start with OS and you must be able to use all FN key functions.

I do not want to speculate what is wrong there but I can not imagine you have this problem from the first day.

Now the question is: why this happen to you? Do you use factory preinstalled OS or you have installed your own OS version?

Hi all.

Hardware: Toshiba Tecra S5-14R
I have a problem with Toshiba Flash Cards software.
When it starts I've received an error "R6025 - pure virtual function call", and then the microsoft alert that Toshiba Flash Cards software stopped working

I'm using Windows Vista Business 32 bit OS, and I've downloaded new version of Toshiba Flash Cards software (v.2.00.05), but it doesn't solve the problem.

Could somebody help?

Answer:Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software ?Microsoft Money?.

Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|]

I would recommend doing this:

1. Disable the Flash cards
2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
- regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
- regsvr32 sccbase.dll
- regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

4. Enable the Flash Card Utility again

Dear Forumleden,
I have minded 11 / 2 years on the Satellite A100-410.
There is a possibility to Fn + F5 through an extra screen to be closed.

After having done (an HPw1907) wants the screen of the laptop no longer exists. He answers with the text Toshiba Flash Card problem
And good standing nationwide mechanic has also tried and we do not get the screen to the gang.
My question is whether anyone else has had this problem.

Because to the laptop to send etc. also quite a few costs plus the cost of a mechanic.
While my feeling says that it is for the software can lie, so I hope that someone from the forumdeskundigen know an answer.

I shut down the PC and when I started he don t start

How can I back the original BIOS or how kan I do a new update to BIOS via USB port or via a CD?

Answer:Satellite A100 - BIOS flash not finished

Sorry but you can?t reset the BIOS or flash it again. This can only be done from ASP.
I think you should contact the nearest ASP and ask for help because at the moment you can?t do anything.

Here you can search for an ASP: => Support & Downloads => Find an authorized service provider

hello my a100 dvd writer not working for that i cant install xp.
is there any way to setup windows from pendrive.

please give me a guideline

Answer:Satellite A100 - How to install Win XP from USB flash drive

I have posted before how to do it.

In order to make a bootable usb flash drive, you should have a minimum 2 gb flash drive and download a software like Novicorp WinToFlash. Install this software and make it easily.
That's all. But don't forget to select ,,Usb boot,, in Boot Priority in BIOS.

Hi all, I've tried to flash my laptop BIOS but it always reboot when it comes to the flashing phase. I use the WinPhlash from +"Drivers & Bios"+.

Answer:Can not flash BIOS for Satellite A100-162 PSAA9E

Did you also download the right BIOS for your notebook? I mean is the update designed for PSAA9E series or another one?
If you update the BIOS you should be logged in as administrator and close all running programs.

And why you try to update the BIOS? This update should only be done if you have problems with your notebook. It?s a little bit risky because you could destroy the ROM module in worst case.

Yesterday I did a BIOS update on my Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E-03Z00QGR with the appropriate flash: =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=153&selProduct=624&langua ge=17&selOS=10&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload =&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=userMachines&search =&action=search&macId=&country=all&selectedLanguag e=17&type=all&page=1&ID=58477&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42

After the flashing procedure the machine rebooted automatically, but unfortunately it now keeps hanging at the Thoshiba welcome screen. Also pressing F2 or F12 won't change anything. It seems like the BIOS is corrupt.

I saw, that in the BIOS package are delivered two flash files (s10gm590.rom and s10pm590.rom). But just executing the SanAntonion10 BIOS590MP.exe a .vbs script is started that decides automatically chooses and loads a flash file. Maybe it chose the wrong one?

What shall I do now? Is there a way to restore the BIOS, or do I have to send my notebook in?

Thanks in advance

and bring your machine to them. By the way you should explain that guys what happened so they can do something for you.
