Preferred Solution: Satellite L670 PSK3EE - Recovery Recovery Media Creator ERRORS

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite L670 PSK3EE - Recovery Recovery Media Creator ERRORS

Toshiba recover creator asks for 3 DVDs because three empty DVDs are needed in order to create an Recover Disk!

PS: I found Toshiba Recover Media Creator for download on this Toshiba Australian page:

Can you use an external hard drive to copy the System Recovery image? The User Manual, under System Recovery - Creating Recovery Media, states:

" A recovery image of the software on your computer is stored on the hard disk drive, and can be copied to either DVD or USB Flash Memory by using the following steps:
1. Select either blank DVD or USB Flash Memory.
The application will allow you to choose from a variety of different media onto which the recovery image can be copied including DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, DVD+RW and USB Flash Memory."

There is no mention of being able to copy to an external hard disk drive.

Answer:Satellite L670 - System Recovery Media Options

This word ?copy? is wrong. What you can create is bootable image saved on DVD or USB. Simply data copy is not possible because later you will not be able to have access to it and start recovery image installation.

Best option for you is:
Create recovery DVD using preinstalled ?Toshiba recovery disc creator? tool. This disc you can use for OS installation every time you want. I recommend you to use DVD-R media.

If you have more questions you are welcome.

I have this laptop : Satellite L670-184 PSK3EE-039007FR

This laptop is not under warranty anymore, but my willing is to save my datas and to know if my hard disk could be fix.

For 13 monthes, I have having no problems with it, but for 2 weeks, i experiment some freezing and bug during the boot. Last week, i could not reach the OS login windows, i try to reach the restore tool (F8 button) but it was no possibility to reach the restore partition.

With a live CD, i manage to save some datas but the day after this save, my hard disk was not identified either under linux live cd or under a SATA / USB link.

The hard disk boots itself but is not identified. The disk has no uncommon or metallic noises. It is impossible to load an OS or the TOSHIBA restore partition in the laptop (SATA port) or via USB ( SATA/USB tool).

The laptop boots well with another SATA hard disk (SATA disk exchange).

What is your opinion?

Can this be fixed (At this point, it is not a question of money but a question of possibility...) ?
Does it exist software or process to identy, reboot or restore the disk without it recognition ? how to make it identified ?

Answer:Satellite L670-184 PSK3EE: Cannot boot OS

> The laptop boots well with another SATA hard disk (SATA disk exchange).
In this case this would mean that the HDD is faulty? I would recommend replacing this HDD and to install the OS once again using the Toshiba Recover disk.

If you didn?t create the recover disk in the past then you can order this here:

Hi all,

Before i begin, sorry for my English, i'm french.

I have a Toshiba L670 1DG (PSK3EE) with a 500Gb HDD.

I want to put this HDD in the CD/DVD rack with an adaptator, and put an 64go SSD in the HDD slot.
(i don't use the DVD reader, i will make it external).

But i don't know where i can find this HDD adaptator for CD/DVD rack, i've searched on eBay but i think it's not
for my Toshiba...

Can you help me ?

Answer:Satellite L670-1DG PSK3EE - I want to insert HDD into CD/DVD drive bay

I don?t think this is possible here for this notebook series.
As far as I know the notebook needs to support an Slim Select Bay to use something like Slim Select Bay HDD Adapter *PA3134U-2ETC*

But just some special Toshiba like Portege or Tecra Tecra M1, M2, M3, M4, S1, S2 support this

Hi there,

I'm searching the right RAM moduls for a Satellite L670-1 LN (PART NO: PSK3EE-08R001GR) to upgrade to 8GB.

These 2GB Samsung modules are currently installed (M471B5673FH0-CF8)

Which 4GB modules can I install ?

I find many modules with 1600Mhz but the currently installed ones have 1066Mhz. So I think the 1600 modules are incompatible, right ?

Answer:Searching 2x 4GB RAM Modules Satellite L670-1 LN PSK3EE-08R001GR

Hi, 99.99% will work with the 1600MHz RAM, but not at 1600MHz, it will "downgrade" to 1066MHz.

Answer:Re: Satellite Pro L - Error using recovery media creator

Have you already tested another USB stick? Probably the stick is defective so the recovery media can?t create successfully.

Also format the stick before using recovery media creator.

Hi everyone

I have a Satellite A665 and I tried to make a recovery disk by the Recovery Media Creator, but I have got an Error Code: 0E01B5-26-2A030200
Anybody have any idea about this problem !!!!!!!!!

Answer:Satellite A665 - Error in the Recovery Media Creator

I have created recovery discs my two Toshibas but everything went well.
In the past in this forum several people have reported about similar error messages but at the end we don't know why this happen.

What you can try is to start HDD recovery again and when the OS is preinstalled try to create the recovery disc again.
Please use DVD-R media only and also buy high quality media as Verbatim or TDK.

I?ve recently purchased a Satellite Pro C850 and, after updating Win 7 and setting everything the way I like it, I tried to create recovery media.

However, when I click on Recovery Media Creator in programs, the file "TRMCLcher.exe" cannot be found. Indeed, I cannot find it anywhere on the computer.

In the directory C:/Program Files/Toshiba/Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, there is an application named "toRDC.exe" but this will not run.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get Recovery Meda Creator to run? I?d rather avoid the hassle of using the Hard Disk partition recovery option to return to factory settings if possible, particularly as I?m doubtful Recovery Media Creator will work even then, considering I?ve not deleted or altered any files to do with the program.

Grateful for any help, thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro C850 - Missing Recovery Media Creator

Take a look at this page:

Here I could find the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator for Win 7 64bit for download.
Of course if you need 32bit version, you should change the settings in the download form.

I have a Satellite Pro L875 with Blu-ray Burner.

I tried to create DVD Recovery disc, the burning process stopped and had error prompt asked me to check if the disc was damaged or scratched. After the burning process, the DVD was not blank and had some data written on it.

I tried to burn data disc in windows 8. the burner did not start. I only able to add files to the drive.

I play Blu-ray movies and dvd movies, the blu ray drive was fine.

I found information about the appropriate dvd disc speed that matched the burner speed.

How do I know what speed the burner support?

How to burn DVD or Blu-Ray in windows 8? ( I have looked at Microsoft forum but the solution did not work.)

It would be great if anyone answer and make the drive burn some discs.

Answer:Satellite Pro L875: Cannot burn DVD in Recovery Media Creator and Win 8

At first it will be interesting to see why you cannot create recovery discs.
Have you used empty DVD-R media? If not please use it and buy some high quality product like Verbatim or TDK.

Is there option to create recovery USB stick?

Burning under Win8? Have you tried to use some burning applications like NERO?

When i try to make Recovery dvd with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator the burning fails.

I have Satellite C50-A-19T with TSSTcorpCDDVDW_SU-208DB_T cd/dvd-rw unit.

During burning process i get an error that say that is impossible read the file D:\ZZImages\ZZImages\install29.swm (the .swm file in error change with different attempts).

I marked the option to verify dvd after burning.

I tried a few times: i try make a single dvd (requires 3 dvd for complete recovery).
i try 2 times with verbatim dvd+r the fist try failed, the second succeeded with the same kind of support.
i try make dvd numb. 2. for two time with dvd-r and dvd +r support and it failed again.

On windows error report i find this error:

and this alert:

+ODD Firmware Update to fix problems with the Toshiba Recovery CD creator+

I see this solution by upgrading firmware for different models of cd/dvd-rw units

but not about the model I have.

i have:

TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator version:
windows 8.1 x64.

there is a solution?
is a known problem?

Answer:Satellite C50-A-19T problem with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator

If fie that belongs to recovery image cannot be read than there must be problem with recovery image files and not with optical disc drive.
Have you tested optical disc drive functionality on some other way?

Does Toshiba recovery media creator offer option for recovery USB media? If yes, try please to create recovery USB to see if the same problem will happen again.

Hello everyone,

My question is about the Recovery Media Creator procces.
I was about to create the recovery and I noticed there are several options (DVD 4.7 Go, DVD 8.5 GB and USB Flash).

My Toshiba Satellite L855-12X is with a Blu-ray Disc Drive burner and would like to use a BD-RE I bought for backups.

Does anyone have a solution to use this media ?

Answer:Satellite L855-12X: How to use BD-RE with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator

I have the same optical disc drive in my Satellite but no option to use empty BD for recovery media creation. I presume preinstalled Toshiba software cannot handle with it.
Best thing you can do is to create USB recovery media.

To be honest I?ve created two back-ups (DVDs and USB). I can always use one of them if necessary.

Hi mate

So you mean all other FN buttons are working properly but only the FN+F8 key combination does not work as it should?

This means that you cannot enable WLan? I would recommend setting the BIOS to default settings and to reinstall the WLan driver again?
The point is that if the WLan driver would not function or if the WLan card would not be installed properly then the FN+F8 key combination would not work too.

Update the WLan driver using this page:

Answer:How to reformat Satellite L645-S9412D using recovery media creator?

With recovery disc you can install recovery image and set notebook to ?factory settings?. Please note: when you do this all saved data will be deleted so before you do this back-up all your important data.

When you want to use recovery disc do it on this way:
Start your notebook and press F12 button to enter boot menu
When boot menu is shown on the screen put recovery disc into optical disc drive
Choose CD/DVD in menu and press ENTER button
Just follow menu on the screen.

Do it, test it. Check alone how it works.

What can be done to solve this problem?

Thank you

Answer:Satellite A660-10W: Toshiba Recovery Media Creator kept reminding me

Do you want to disable this notification?

You can do this is msconfig. Start the msconfig go to startup tab and uncheck process which is responsible for the Toshiba Media Creator notification. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

By the way; it would be advisable to clean the OS and registry using CCleaner. This tool is for free and would delete all temporal files

I hope there is someone here who can help:

My computer is a Satellite L750 x64 based computer and the problem is that the sound disappears after a few seconds when I hear music in Youtube.

I have read in the preinstalled usermanual that I can restore the computer by pressing F8 when the computer starts up, but it does not work.

The computer just continues on to Windows 7.
Now I want to restore the computer to factory standard and will therefore use the Recovery Media Creator but it does not work.

I want to save data on a 32 GB USB stick but it will not recognize the stick.
I know that 32GB is without error because I can easily store / retrieve data from it both with the FAT system and NTSF system.

What am I doing wrong and is there anyone who has a good idea so I can move on?
regards Erik

Answer:Recovery media creator does not recognize 32GB USB stick on Satellite L750?

Even if your USB stick work properly in outside the Recovery Media creator, this does not mean that it should be handled properly by this tool.

I had problems creating recovery DVD even if I was able to burn movie files on the same disk.
As far as I know you should take at least 16GB USB flash memory stick
Usually it should work.

But I?m wondering why you are not able to use HDD recovery option. Did you change something on the HDD?

Toshiba recovery media creator cannot be downloaded from Toshiba download page. This tool is integrated in recovery image.
I really don?t understand how this exe file can disappear for no reason. With clean preinstalled recovery image it must work properly.

I spend some hours to try to create the recovery disks for my Laptop (Satellite C660-1DG)

It fails on the second DVD halfway. It just hangs. CTRL-ALT-DEL does not work anymore a cold boot is required to start the thing again.

I tried several DVD's but NOGO each time halfway the second DVD it hangs.

I really need to create these recovery DVD's because Im going to upgrade the laptop to run a Windows Server 2012 install for development purposes.

I thought this would take just a minimum amount of time but... of course...

Any thoughs on any way to get this stuff working?

Answer:Satellite C660-1DG - Toshiba Media Creator Recovery fails creating 2nd DVD

I burned just another disk and it was full of validation errors: hundreds.

So I connected my external DVD writer (NEC ND-3500AG) (firmware 2.1A) and took THE SAME DVD and burned it: presto: no problems: 0 validation errors

So I deduce that the internal DVD writer (TSSTcorp TS-L633C) (firmware TF20) is chunky.

I am still in warranty but... is it any use?

Hi Friends, I bought a new Toshiba Kirabook PSU8SA-00V00U a few months ago. I wanted to create recovery disks in case of emergency, but everytime I start Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, it comes with a message that No HDD Recovery Area detected.

Then I tried launching the recovery environment by pressing 0 at start up.
It comes up with a blue screen saying that can not load from recovery partition.

I checked with Paragon Hard Disk Partition Manager software that the recovery drive is available.

How can I make recovery media or connect that recovery HDD back in system so that Toshiba Recovery Media Creator detects the recovery drive and makes recovery media. Otherwise in future, if I want to reset the PC to factory settings, it will still coming up with blue screen saying that it can not load recovery environment.

Any help will be appreciated !!!

Answer:Re: Toshiba Recovery Media Creator - No HDD Recovery Area

Fact is that recovery image installation or recovery media creation works if the machine has ?factory settings? only. With other words, everything must be in original condition without any changes. With changes I mean, original OS must be installed and HDD partitions structure should not be changed.

If you try to change original HDD partitions structure the system in general, or Toshiba recovery media creator, will be ?confused? and will not be able to find so called ?markers? that offer information about the exact place on HDD where the recovery image is placed or saved.

Have you done something that could be responsible for this situation?

Don?t think that your ODD drive is faulty.
Fact is that there could be always an compatibility issue between the disks and ODD.
As far as I know user manual provides some info about good tested and compatible CDs and DVDs.

Would recommend using a disk which were the compatibility was tested.
Furthermore I recommend TDK ?R standard. My experience was good using such disks?

I was trying to dual boot my laptop when I must have selected to use the entire disk for the new installation rather than the partition I selected.

I can't create a DVD right now but I'm going to try tomorrow. Will this work?

Answer:Satellite L670-L14 - Recovery issue

Usually you could get access to the HDD recovery option by pressing F8 while booting up the unit. Then a option should appear called ?repair my computer?.
Then you should be able to choose HDD recovery.

But I?m not quite sure if this would work after you have deleted the partitions?
So possibly you will need to use the Toshiba recovery disk which you will try to create tomorrow ;) .

For me it sounds like that the HDD recovery files are deleted or missing so how do you start the HDD recovery installation?
Usually you can do this in advanced boot menu of Windows (F8) and then select ?Repair my Computer?. After loading some files you should be able to choose ?Toshiba HDD recovery? option.

It it doesn?t work you need the Toshiba recovery disk but did you create it?

I just started my L670 for the first time today, I'm dutch speaking so I selected "Dutch" (Nederlands) as the interface language for my Win7 installation. Soon after installation, I noticed that the usual folders I have on my main (English) PC were not there,

instead of the folder */Users/* it created a folder */Gebruikers/*

Since I like to copy a lot of files/program preferences from my main PC to the laptop and I'm not at home with the dutch interface, I would like the interface in English too.
Therefor I decided to do the system restore to select English as main interface language just like it is on my main PC, by holding *0* during boot, selecting F8, and selecting the Toshiba complete recovery method, but now I can no longer choose between *Dutch/French/English* as the main interface language, and it automatically installs with the Dutch language.

How can I make the complete factory default restore so that I have the language choice back, so I can install the English language please ?

Please, If anyone knows how I can get the interface language selection back with the Toshiba recovery method ?

Answer:Satellite L670-143 How to get language selection during recovery?

As far as I know you can choose the system language only one time while booting the notebook for the first time.

I think this notebook model has been released in three different countries and therefore you could choose your favorite language for the first time. After that, the chosen language will still be available on the HDD but the other languages would be disabled.

Maybe you can order a recovery disk in English language from here:

This means that the BMR has been deleted and changed and therefore the HDD recover option does not appear anymore in the boot menu.

The option might be the usage of the Recovery disk.

Hello together,

I have a problem with my Laptop. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit the laptop came with Win7 Home Premium 32bit.
Now I want to restore the original Windows Home Premium. On the laptop is a second partition with a folder named "HDD-Recovery".

When i hold the "0" button on start nothing happens. The System Recovery doesn?t start.

Can you help my fix the problem.

Thanks and regards,

Answer:Satellite L670 - System HDD Recovery does not start

This does not function because you have installed Win 7 64bit as you said here:
> I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit the laptop came with Win7 Home Premium 32bit.
But did you try also pressing F8 -> Repair my Computer -> HDD recovery?
Try this

Otherwise the HDD recovery does not function because the boot manager was changed/damage due to new Win 7 installation and therefore you cannot load the HDD recovery.
Therefore it?s always recommended to create a recovery disk BEFORE changing anything on the HDD.

What to say buddy? you need recovery disks. I assume you have an European notebook model

You can order the Recovery disks here:

My laptop is L670-1JN

On my disk C: is installed windows
On my disk D: is installed HDD recovery

With windows seven I want to create on my disk D: a new partion E:
This partition E: will be reserved for my data.
Once partition E: create I want to make a disk image of C: and D:

In case of serious problem :
first I will used first HDD recovery
If it doesn't work I will restore disk image C: and D:

My question is : HDD recovery will work if I create on my disk D: a new partion E: ?

Answer:Satellite L670-1JN - Will HDD recovery work if I part the partition D?

To be honest, I never tested this but I think you should be able to use the HDD recovery even if the D partition has been changed but this is just my opinion.
So before you would change ANYTHING on the HDD, I recommend creating the Recovery disk!
The recovery disk helps you to set the notebook (also the HDD) back to factory settings if something would go wrong with the HDD or similar?

With recovery disk you are on the safety side, you know?
I think you can run some experiments after the Recovery disk has been created.

Please share you experience with us? I?m very interesting?.

after I have had a virus I couldn't find my SD-Cards in the workplace (I hope it's called "workplace" in english").
So I started the HDD Recovery and put the system back to the original conditions.

But now I have the same problem:
When I put any SD-Card in the Slot, the dialog in the bottom right corner shows me, that drivers have been installed, but I can't find my Card. When I put the SD-Card out and back in, nothing happens... Only after reinstalling the Card-Slot-driver from the toshiba-homepage, I can see the dialog when putting in the SD-Card. But again only one time and nothing else happens.

So, I don't know if it's a hardware problem(the Slot recognizes the card) or a driver problem(with exact the same system everything worked fine one year ago).
Does anyone have an idea? If possible, please answer in german, if not, I would although be very thankful for every answer.

Answer:Satellite L670-11R - SD cards not shown after recovery installation

As far as I know the notebook L670-11R supports the Realtek Card reader controller. I think you should try the Realtek driver from Realtek driver page.

There you could find the latest driver:
*PCIE card reader driver for XP/Vista/Win7* 4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

New to this forum as I've just aquired a new Toshiba Satellite Pro L670 laptop, laptop is great so far but I have one issue I'd like to resolve.

It has a 500gb hard drive which will be more than enough for some time to come but I'm not happy with the way it's partitioned, the usable space is split into 232Gb C: and 232gb D: which only has the HDDRecovery data folder on it. Now I know I can still use the partiition for data but I prefer to keep all my files in one location and in the standard Windows locations on the C: drive.

What is the best way to recover all of my hard drive space, Windows lets me shrink the D; partition but cannot extend the C: partition into the spare space created as the recovery folder is in the way. Was thinking of copying the folder out then recreating a smaller D: partiiton but it didn't seen to like me trying to move the folder either!

Id I burn recovery DVDs can I safely remove teh D: partition? I'd prefer to keep it on the drive but having a larger C: drive is bigger priority!

Cheers All

Answer:Satellite Pro L670 - Excessive recovery partition size

Hi scoobasteve,

> What is the best way to recover all of my hard drive space
There is no best way. There are a lot of options for creating new partitions because some people prefer only one partition, other people using lot of partitions.

Don?t worry about HDDrecovery folder!

For example I have installed all my programs/games on first partition C: where I installed Windows as well. This partition is using 50% of the whole HDD disk space.
Then I have a second partition D: with HDD recovery folder. It?s using the other 50% and on it I have stored my files like photos, videos, music, documents, etc. No programs but all other files.

In my opinion that?s ok because I have to run HDD recovery, only C: partition will be deleted. My important files are still on D: partition after HDD recovery. Furthermore every week I create a backup of all files on D: partition expect HDD recovery folder. Therefore I use Acronis True Image, it saves the image on an external HDD connected via USB.

So why to remove HDD recovery folder?
Of course you can remove it but create the recovery disk before! After deleting the folder you are not able to do this anymore!!!

Hello, I've used the recovery media creator to create a USB flash drive recovery media.

If i then use that to restore the Windows 7 installation onto a new hard drive (as SSD) will that drive itself have the recovery media partition on it?

So if I then lose the USB stick could I restore again by holding down zero when powering on?

Or does it recover the Windows partition and nothing more?

Thank you

Hmmmm.... there must be some problem with recovery image.
When you open recover disc creator and if there is option for USB media creation please test it.

Maybe you will be able to create recovery USB stick.

I have a new XPS 8900. I want to create recovery media on external Hard Disk Drive. I took a 40GB HDD, and using Windows Disk Management, I created two NTFS partittions. about 19GB. Once I started recovery media creator, it changed partition scheme to a 32GB FAT32 and an 8GB unallocated. Why does this happen? I was told only 16GB is needed for the recovery media. I thought I could use this 40GB HDD to hold two recovery partitions.

I am trying to use "Recovery Media Creator" loading on to a 16Gig USB drive.
The program instructs me to insert a USB flash drive greater than 12 Gig which I do.

It then says that the drive will be formatted and then comes up with "Format Failed (Error Code: 040E49-04-00000000)" and the USB drive becomes unreadable. Using Windows & Disc Management tool I can then format the drive and use it becomes useable except for "Recovery Media Creator".

I have formatted as FAT32, NTFS and exFAT but none work.
I have tried two USB flash drives, both behave the same.

As far as I can tell, there are no partitions on the drive and I have successfully used "Recovery Media Creator" on one of the drives in the past. I want the files to restore another computer, something else that I have done successfully before.

I can burn the data using DVDs but the DVDs didn't work so I want to try the USBs. I have read a few threads along these lines but have not found any answers so far. I am sure that there is a simple explanation but I can't find it.

Answer:Recovery Media Creator and USB

Usually the creation of the Recovery medium using the USB flash stick should work properly.

I read in some other threads that the preinstalled antivirus software could cause similar problems… so I recommend you to disable antivirus and any other security software… then it should work

Other guys said that deleting the partition completely and creating a new simple volume would also work.

In the beginning Recovery Media Creator bugged me to back up these "modest" 14 GB (FOURTEEN GB!!!!!!!! <arrrggghhh>), but I had neither an USB-stick nor a 100 pieces spindle CDs and time at hand. <sarcastic grrrrin> (Well, I know it should back up to 3 DVDs, but I remember times when I got 40 to 50 3.5" discs or later the same amount of CDs. <g>)

Now that I got the stick TF app won?t start any longer. Tried to set original drive letters,... to no avail.

As I wouldn?t trust in a set of 3 DVD-Rs anyway I grudgingly ordered the DVD set for 35 bucks. (!!!!!!!)

Still, I WOULD like to know how to get this running.

Hello everyone, first of all, I don't know if this question should be in this catergory, but I thought this would be the best to post in.

My question is about the Recovery Media Creator procces. I was about to create the recovery DVD and I noticed there are several Recovery Media options (Recovery Media 1 to Recovery Media 3).

My question is, what are the differences between them? Does it matter if I only check one of them so I would need less DVD's or a smaller USB?

Thanks in advance.

PS. excuse my grammar or bad explanation if there is any mistake.

Answer:Question about Recovery Media Creator

As far as I know there is no difference between the Recovery Media 1 to Recovery Media 3.
This info shows you ONLY the amount of needed disks.
If you create a recovery media using a DVD, you will need probably more than one DVD disk.
In case you will create an USB recovery medium, you will not need different several USB flash memory sticks.

Hi everyone

I am hoping someone can please help me.

We have recently purchased a L750 laptop and I have tried 3 times to create the recovery media and just when I get to the end of the first disk it comes up with an error can't write file or something similar to that, has anyone else encountered this problem and how did they fix it?

Many thanks

Answer:Error when using Recovery Media Creator

Problem is that you cannot fix anything. Either it works or not.

Generally speaking, if your notebook has ?factory settings? and you didn?t change anything, recovery disc creation should work properly. What you can try is usage of different empty media. I recommend you to use high quality media like TDK or Verbatim.

Please try it again using one of these empty media.
And yes, please use DVD-R discs only.

I have just bought a White NB200 and noticed it does not come with a DVD for Windows 7 in the event I ever need to install.
I was advised by the sales person in the shop that I could save a copy onto a USB drive by using writing a recovery disk.
I presume 'Recovery Media Creator' is the best way to do this.

I booted it up and it says it will be 6.7Gb. I do not have a USB thumb drive this size but have a portable HardDisk (250gb) with 120gb to spare.
Even though I can view the drive in Windows Explorer / My Computer, the Recovery Media program says 'Please instert a USB drive with memory greater than 6.7gb' everytime I click the 'create' button.

Can anyone assist?

Answer:NB200 - Recovery Media Creator and USB HDD

I doubt you can use the USB HDD in order to create an recovery disk image.
The Toshiba recovery disk creator has been designed in order to create an bootable recovery disk!
It has not been designed to safe the Toshiba image on the HDD!

So if you want to use the Toshiba recovery disk creator then you have to purchase an USB CD/DVD drive which would allows you to burn the Recovery image on a DVD

Answer:How to get Toshiba Recovery Media Creator again?

Well, the easiest solution would be the usage of system restore tool.
You could set the OS back to the early time point before you have uninstalled this tool.

What do you think about this suggestion?

what to do for making a HDD recovery area??

Answer:Recovery Media Creator is not working.

The message on the screenshot says: No HDD recovery area

This means that the recovery media creator software cannot find the image files which are stored on the HDD recovery partition.
There are different reasons for that…

One of the reasons could be the missing HDD recovery partition or the files (image files) have been deleted…

check in User's manual if it's possible to make a recovery usb stick. As i know, for some Toshiba models you can do it. Personally, I have never made a recovery usb stick. I know how to do a bootable Windows usb stick. If you need it, then I can explain.

Hi, I have a new Toshiba laptop and I would like to replace Windows 7 Ubuntu (completely - so there will be no WIndows files left on SSD). I used tool Recovery media creator which I found among utilities preinstaled by Toshiba and I created USB recovery.

I wonder, when I wipe out WIndows and install Ubuntu instead, is the USB I created all I need to switch back to Windows?

To put it differently: When I will want to go back and replace Ubuntu by Windows, will booting from the USB and running the recovery be all I have to do to get rid of Ubuntu and have only Windows?

Answer:Question regarding Toshiba's recovery media creator.

> I wonder, when I wipe out WIndows and install Ubuntu instead, is the USB I created all I need to switch back to Windows?

Yes, the usage of Recovery medium (no matter if its Recovery disk or Recovery USB memory stick) would set the notebook back to factory settings.

Factory settings means that you would get the same state like at the first day of purchase.

Hope someone can help me here,

Answer:Is it possible to download the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator?

From my knowledge this is not possible because the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator is part of the Toshiba image and it can be used only in connection with the available Toshiba image files.

If you would format the HDD and would install the clean Win 7 OS then the Toshiba image files would not be available and the Toshiba Recovery disk Creator will not work.

I just bought a z830. Is there a way to create the recovery discs with other software than the provided "Recovery media creator"? Apparently "Recovery media creator" only works with DVDs or a USB disc, which i dont have. I would like to have the image of the recovery material on my external hard drive and burn to disc when needed.

If i create an image of the recovery partition with another software, say Adonis True Image, can this be used to turn the laptop to factory settings?

Answer:Recovery Media Creator alternative method

> I just bought a z830. Is there a way to create the recovery discs with other software than the provided "Recovery media creator"?
If you want to create recovery disc that contains Toshiba recovery image than the answer is NO.
> Apparently "Recovery media creator" only works with DVDs or a USB disc, which i dont have.
And where is the problem? If you have money to buy notebook for 1000 Euro I presume you will have 15 Euros to buy 8GB or 16GB USB stick and create recovery media.
> I would like to have the image of the recovery material on my external hard drive and burn to disc when needed.
Unfortunately this will not work. You can copy recovery image to external HDD but you will not have access to it when you want to start HDD recovery procedure.
> If i create an image of the recovery partition with another software, say Adonis True Image, can this be used to turn the laptop to factory settings?
I don?t think so. Toshiba has designed own procedure how it works to avoid illegal usage or modification of recovery images.

Hi everyone,

after having installed windoows 8.1 april major update (win 8.1 present as OEM), and having shrinked C partition to create a data "D" partition, "Troubleshoot" option under advanced startup menu is not available anymore.

Toshiba recovery media creator is not working, too (it can't find any recovery partion on hard disc).
I didn't touch the OEM recovery partition.
I am also not able to creare a recovery unit using Windows tool.
Do you have any clue about that?

Thank you very much!

Answer:After changing HDD partitions recovery media creator is not working

Sorry to hear about all this. Unfortunately you have a big problem now. I don't understand why you didn?t create recovery media before you have started to change original factory settings, especially to change HDD partitions structure.

Notebook offered with factory settings has specific partitions structure and saved recovery image is saved on specific HDD partition and ?marked? with ?invisible markers?. These markers are visible for preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator tool and when you start it tool can find the markers and has full access to specific files.

Unfortunately after changing original partitions structure Toshiba tool cannot find these markers anymore and is not able to copy recovery files to recovery media. What you need now is original recovery disc. Using this disc you can install original recovery image and after doing this you will have ?factory settings? again.

I know it sounds stupid now but you must order this original recovery disc and it can be done on

If you have more questions you are welcome.

Toshiba recovery media tool creates bootable recovery media for OS version that you got with your notebook. Original recovery image is saved on HDD and what this tool is doing, is just copy on recovery media.

This tool doesn't create image of actual operating system that you use.

When I open the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, Shows, No HDD Recovery Area!

Answer:Portege Z930 - Toshiba Recovery Media Creator issue

The Recovery Media Creator is an Toshiba tool which requires the Toshiba image files in order to create the recovery disk. The image files are placed on a different partition called HDD recovery partition.

If the HDD has been modified or this partition deleted, the recovery media creator will not be able to find the image files and you will not be able to create such disk.

So my question is: did you reinstall the Win 7 at your own hand? Did you modify the HDD in the past?

Hey guys,
after upgrading my Toshiba Port?g? Z20T from preinstalled Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (using Windows Update) I cannot create a recovery USB stick (using Toshiba Recovery Media Creator) any more. After starting the Toshiba software and confirming administrator rights I get the message ?No HDD recovery area! The Toshiba Recovery Media Creator cannot be launched.? (Here in German: ?Kein HDD-Wiederherstellungsbereich! Toshiba Recovery Media Creator kann nicht gestartet werden.?) Before upgrading to Windows 10 I successfully created a recovery USB stick from this computer.
I did not format or re-partition the disk. This is the current partition list, created using DISKPART:
Partition ### Type/Typ Size/Gr??e Offset
------------- ---------------- ------- -------
Partition 1 Recovery/Wiederherstellun 1024 MB 1024 KB
Partition 2 System 100 MB 1025 MB
Partition 3 Reserved/Reserviert 128 MB 1125 MB
Partition 4 Primary/Prim?r 226 GB 1253 MB
Partition 5 Recovery/Wiederherstellun 450 MB 227 GB
Partition 6 Recovery/Wiederherstellun 10 GB 227 GB
There are three recovery partitions I have not touched at all. Windows 10 is on the ?Primary/Prim?r? partition, which is the only BitLocker-encrypted one. (I did not find any evidence, that Toshiba Recovery Media Creator has a problem with BitLocker, and I don?t want to switch it off.)
I have installed the latest Version of Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.
Is the software working on your Windows 10 computer?

Hi -

I?m not quite sure if the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator software would be preinstalled on the US notebook models.

From my knowledge the Toshiba European notebooks have an preinstalled the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator which allows you to create an recovery disk.

Anyway, you should read your user manual for details? Maybe you will have to use other software or another method?

Satelite M300

How to use Recovery Disc Creator and what is the main function of Recovery Disc Creator?

Answer:Satellite M300 - How to use recovery disc creator?

I assume you didn?t read the user manual as yet because it explains pretty well what the recovery disc creator does.

However, this tool creates the Toshiba recovery disc. This disc contains an image of ?factory settings?. That means the preinstalled Windows OS with all drivers and tools from Toshiba. It?s easy to use (just boot from the disk), just follow the screen instructions.

For example if you install another Windows or Windows can?t start anymore you can use this disc to get back a working system.

When trying to create recovery media to an external USB DVD R/W drive I get the error : Un unexpected error has occured. Close and restart the application. Errorcode 0E01BA-49-00000000 .

When clicking OK the second message with same content, but different errorcode 0E0287-49-000000AA appears.

I tried this with as well DVD+R as DVD-r media and on different usb ports.

Also tried to only mark 1 of 5 of the neccesary media instead of all 5 at once, with no luck.

This is on a brand new Toshiba Portege Z930-111 to an external HP USB dvd RW drive.

Answer:Recovery Media Creator error: 0E01BA-49-00000000 and 0E0287-49-000000AA

Contacted Toshiba. They suggested to reset the Portege to factory settings (press and hold 0 and power on).
When finished reinstalling try again to create the media.
Unfortunately after this procedure I got the same error. Toshiba will now send a set of recovery DVD's.

Normally the Toshiba recovery disk creator it?s preinstalled on the notebook if the notebook was delivered with Windows Vista.

The only way to get a recovery disk is to order a new one from Toshiba directly:

First of all, sorry about my English, but it's not my native language. About my technical problem is very simple: I am using Toshiba Satellite L300D-13b with Vista 32-bit. I was trying to create a recovery disc by useing Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator, but, when I start the program (Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator) gives me this error:
"Could not find HDD Recovery folder on second drive of the first hard disk. There is no valid HDD Recovery environment on this computer".

How do I create my Recovery Disc?

Answer:Recovery Disc Creator Error - Satellite L300D

New Toshiba notebooks are delivered without recovery CD/DVD and using Toshiba recovery creator tool you must create it alone. Toshiba has delivered notebook with ?factory settings?. that means recovery image is saved on second partition in folder called ?HDDRecovery?.

When you start Toshiba recovery creator tool it hold the data from this folder and burn it on empty media. If this folder is removed or deleted the application says clearly the folder/data is/are missing.
I don't know what you have done in the past but now you will not be Able to create this recovery DVD.

You can order new copy under
Of course it is not for free and you must pay for it.

I've L755 from PSK2YE series for 40 days, and I have a problem with the Recovery Disk Creator part. I believe something is missing as I simply do not have the TRDCLcher.exe on the menu. I probably unistalled it by mistake or so.

I still have the HDD Recovery partition on D:.

Is there any way possible of getting that file back so I peform the Disk Recovery?

Answer:Satellite L755 - Can't use Toshiba recovery disk creator

That means you can?t start the recovery disk creator or what happened exactly?

The recovery disk creator can?t be reinstalled because it?s only preinstalled on your notebook. I think in this case your only chance is starting the HDD recovery option and reset Windows to factory settings. With out of box settings you can use the recovery disk creator.

After using the Recovery DVD I previously made to reinstall windows some programs like configfree were not installed so I had to download them and install them by myself, but the problem is that even RECOVERY DISC CREATOR is not installed, so does anybody know where I can download the RECOVERY DISC CREATOR for my laptop?

Model: Satellite L300-135
Model Number: PSLB0E - 02H01HAR

Answer:Satellite L300-135 - Where to download Recovery disc creator?

The recovery disk creator can?t be downloaded. It?s only preinstalled on your notebook and included in Toshiba recovery disk so that you could burn this disk again.

But I?m wondering? Are you sure that you have used the Toshiba recovery disk? Normally after using this disk contains this application.

By the way: What OS is installed now?

As it turns out, this laptop (Satellite A305) does not have the Recovery Disc Creator included !!!...

There is no
Start - All Programs - recovery Disk Creator.
"C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator\",
"TRDCLcher.exe" anywhere on the hard drive (including hodden folders)

I did not erase anything, as I was totally aware of the importance of creating an RD
There is only an "aplications and drivers disc creator" wich by itself is useless to recover the system.
Powering on the system with 0 pressed doe not bring the HDD Recovery Wizard either, just a series of beeps.

The so called Official Tech support said they could not sell me any media as Toshiba only delivers them to customers directly (how´s tat for a nonsense!!)

Ironic that getting Linux or a bootleg copy would be easier that taking the "supported" path... )-[

Answer:Recovery Disc Creator not installed on Satellite A305

Your notebook belongs to the Toshiba US series and therefore I don?t know exactly how it works on such notebook but on the Toshiba European notebook you could find the Toshiba disk creator software which allows you to create a Toshiba Recovery disk.

I don?t understand why the ASP which you have called couldn?t sell you a Recovery disk. I think you asked someone who didn?t know this.

Usually the ASP should be able to provide such disk. So either you will call Toshiba USA or the ASP and will ask for such Recovery disk again.

I have a Satellite L500-12Q laptop. I used the Recovery Disc Creator to make the recovery discs. It needs 4 discs. The 1st was writtenk ok, but on the second, near the end of the progress, it stopped advancing. It is almost an hour, and it is still not finished. I am on the second try. The disc is spinning and the drive makes noise as if it were writing, but it doesn't advance at all.

Please, could you help me?

Answer:Satellite L500-12Q Recovery Disc Creator Error

Hey Claudiu,

What kind of DVD you are using to create the Toshiba recovery disks? I did also had some problems to create a recovery disk but I changed the media from DVD+R to DVD-R and all was ok!!! I used Verbatim disks for creating because I have really good experience with this kind of disks. Furthermore it seems that TDK disks also work pretty well. Check this!!!

If it doesn?t work check the Toshiba page for a firmware update of your ODD!

It?s not easy to say what the reason is but in your case I would start the HDD recovery option. Therefore go in the advanced boot menu and select ?Repair my computer?.

In your case there is nothing you can do. The recovery DVD can be created just if notebook has ?factory settings?. Unfortunately you have removed original preinstalled Vista and now there is no way you can create recovery media.

Sorry but there is only one thing you can do now ? to order new copy. You can do this under .

Hi everybody!

Need some help with my Satellite A300. I lost the optical recovery disc I burned when the laptop was new. Now when I'm trying to burn a new recovery disc I can't find the Recovery Disc Creator - not on the desktop or in the Start meny. I still have the folder with all the recovery files left - a folder named HDDRecovery with size 4.5 GB. The problem is to find out how to burn the disc.

Can anyone help?

//iMate, Sweden

Answer:Satellite A300 - I can't find the recovery disk creator

Have you reinstalled the notebook with your own Windows version?

The problem is that the recovery disk creator can?t be downloaded. So I think you must use the HDD recovery function to restore the factory settings. After this it?s maybe possible to burn the recovery disk again.

Hi Folks,

I finally got round to buying a USB DVD drive in order to create recovery discs for my NB200-10Z. I got the following:

* Samsung SE-S084C, External USB 2.0 Slimline 8X DVD Writer, Black

I have twice tried to create a recovery disc and am now left with two trashed DVDs. The error codes in the error window are:

Error Code: 0E01B5-26-2A040803
Error code: 02016F-3C-00000000

The first time the burning was stopped, the second time the verify failed.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Which disks you are using for creating a recovery disk?
I had a similar issue that it wasn?t possible to create the recovery medium so I bought blank DVD?s from another manufacture (Verbatim DVD-R) and this worked!!!

It seems that DVD-R mediums working good instead DVD+R?
It?s worth a try!!

Guys I am using Satellite A350D-20K

before or the original OS of my laptop was *Win Vista 32bit* but I have choose changed it to *Win7 64bit*..
I have already downloaded the other drivers from this site for my new OS but it's not complete, anyway it's not a big deal.

I just wanna have an installer for *Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator for win7 64bit*
before on my win7 32bit there was a Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator ("but it does not have an installer on my CD backup I don't know why?")

I searched for installer here but the only thing that I saw was for Win Vista, I tried to install it luckily it was successfully done. It prompt's for restart so I restart my laptop then I tried to open the application but there was an error message that prompt it goes like this

"The Toshiba Recovery disc can not be Launched."

* I wanna ask you guys if do you have an Idea why it goes like that?
* Do you have an Idea where I can get the right installer for my new OS

Thank you very very much guys...

Answer:Satellite A350D-20K - need Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator for Win7

Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator is a Toshiba tool which created the Recovery disk from the recovery image available on the HDD.
It?s NOT backup tool like Ghost, etc?which allows you to create a image of your preinstalled OS.
If the Toshiba Recovery files are not available on the HDD then the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator will not work!

I have bought Toshiba A305-6829 laptop *without a recovery disk* in US. Because of decrease in speed of laptop i want to reinstall Vista and factory setttings. But i realized that that its impossibe unless i have a Recovery Disk' right?

Then i also realized that in my laptop *recovery software is not installed*. I searched it on internet. But i found nothing.
+*What should i do?*+ Is there any alternative recovrery disk creator for Vista and also suitable for my situation?

I also want to ask there is 20 gb missing in my harddisk ( it hve to be 320 gb but seem as an 300 gb).Is it recovery partition? If it is so ; why cant i saw it on "my computer"?

Answer:Need Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator for Satellite A305-6829

you CAN'T see the hidden partition in my computer. to know it's there you'ld have to go to administrative tools (i'm not sure now) but even then, if it is a recovery partition you better leave it be and don't mess around with it.

Try holding down zero key while your pc is booting. (switch it off, hold down zero key, press power button while still holding down zero key).
it should launch the hdd recovery tool.

It didn't work for me but it might work for you.

Toshiba Satellite L505-10k

Can't make any recovery disc when I open toshiba recovery media creator, it says: an unexpected error occurred. Close the program and then restart it (error code: 0D00F6-49-00000015) and then I click ok and then it comes again and then I click ok and it comes again and I click ok and then the program comes and when I create the disc it comes to the verification, but then it says: Unable to read the following file. E: \ Boot \ fonts \ chs_boot.ttf (error code: 02015-20-00000000).

I really do need help, I'm afraid something will happen to my computer, so is there anyone who knows something about this kind of problem?

Thankful for your help.

Answer:Satellite L505-10K - Unexpected error when using recovery disk creator

Hi putte32,

To be honest I never received this error message before but it sounds like that the recovery disk creator doesn?t work properly... You should try a HDD recovery to restore factory settings. Maybe then you are able to create the recovery disk.

Otherwise I would contact an authorized service provider. If you can?t create the recovery disk, the guys should be able to help you to finish this procedure.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 (PSAGCE) and I created the recovery disc using the "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator" but I did this a few mounths ago, but now the disc is scratched, and when I am formating my computer it give me an error when loading the files. So I decide to create another disc, by using the "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator" but it also give me an error with one of the files when creating the disc. What should i do now?

I have a friend that has a Satellite A200, can I use his disc? I made a printscrean showing the error. Sorry the bad english, I am portuguese...

Answer:Satellite A300 - Recovery disk creator shows error

It?s good that you posted a screenshot of the error but maybe you can translate it into English, this would be more helpful.

Anyway, what disks you are using for creating recovery disk? I?m using DVD-R mediums from Verbatim. This worked perfectly for me and I can recommend this way.

Furthermore you can check the Toshiba page for a firmware update of your CD/DVD drive.

Last but not least I doubt that recovery disk for Satellite A200 will work for you too. The models are different?

I need to make my recovery disc's for my Satellite P300 (PSPCCA-05V01Y) but the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working, as it is saying that there isnt a HDD Recover file on the pc.
I tried before, and it had a problem with the core files, saying it was corrupt.
So I was wondering if there is anyway I can download the HDD Recovery installation so that I can install it and bring it back to the 'factory state' and reburn the recovery disc's?
Cheers for any help

Answer:Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working on my Satellite P300

Hello Mikey

The situation is pretty complicated. When you got your notebook the recovery files was saved on second partition in ?HDDRecovery? folder. The second partitions and saved files should not be changed.

If you have done something with second partition or this folder Toshiba recovery creator cannot find these files and recovery media cannot be created. This will works with ?factory settings? only. but I see one other problem there.
Theoretically, you can now install OS again using HDD recovery installation procedure, and with factory state you should be able to create DVD but if the Toshiba recovery creator cannot find the files I am afraid the HDD recovery installation can have the same problem.

If you want you can test it. Try to start HDD recovery installation.

My laptop is Satellite A300-211

My question is can I use the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator program to burn CDs and DVDs beside the image of Windows?

Answer:Satellite A300-211 - Can I use recovery disc creator to create other discs?

Hi mate,

The Toshiba recovery disk creator can only create the Toshiba recovery disk and that?s all!

If you want to burn other CDs or DVDs you have to use another program like Nero or CD Burner XP. The last one is freeware and really nice. It has a lot of functions and is very small. Check this!!
