Preferred Solution: Satellite C650D - pressing F8 i can not find the toshiba recovery option

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite C650D - pressing F8 i can not find the toshiba recovery option

Hi

If you are not able to recover the notebook using the HDD recovery, then you will have to recover the notebook using Recovery disk.
It seems that you didn?t create the disk in the past? right? Well, this was not a good idea?

However, the Satellite C650 is European notebook series. Right?
In such case you will need the Recovery disk for the European series and this can be ordered here:

Answer:Satellite A200-1XO - No HDD recovery option pressing F8

Hi,

It looks like a hdd image folder not available anymore on your computer. You can

1. Order a [Recovery disk|https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx] from Toshiba
2 Get Windows copy disk to install, all drivers are on the [Toshiba driver page|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]

Hi,
My laptop cannot tell me any post after the Toshiba logo just black screen. Cannot get into the bios or anything... These are the things I have tried:
Taken hard drive out,
Taken ram out and only tried one..
Taken Battery Cmos battery out for a few minutes..
Had a look at the motherboard and fan is not even working when I turn it on..
I have taken the cpu and put it back in..
Defiantly Sounds like the motherboard problem but want to know if its just a chip that needs to be replaced and soldered.. If anyone has any ideas that will be awesome.

Thanks

Hi there,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L655 with Windows Home Premium 64bit. I have recently got into problems with my operating system. Unfortunately I did not know about HDD recovery option, so I just reinstalled OS with Windows 7 installation CD (i've got one).

Now I'm aware about HDD Recovery and I'd like to get my system back to it's original "Toshiba's" state, but there's no "Toshiba HDD recovery " item anymore in recovery menu (F8 on startup)

I still have HDDRecovery folder on my D:\ disk with 7.5 Gb od data. But how can I get it back? What do I need to install to have the "Toshiba recovery" item back again in recovery environment?

Thanks,
Ivan

Answer:Satellite L655 - Get the Toshiba recovery option back

Hi buddy,

The Toshiba HDD recovery feature is only available on preinstalled operating system. If you have installed another version it?s not available anymore.

So in your case you would need the Toshiba recovery disk to restore the original factory settings. Did you create the Toshiba recovery disk before installing Windows 7?
Usually this can be done with out of box settings because ?Toshiba recovery media creator? is preinstalled. That means you need some blank disks to create the recovery disk.

If you don?t have the recovery disk you can order a new one here:

My laptop is: Toshiba Satellite U400-144

Kindly advice what to do.

Answer:Satellite U400 - Can't find HDD recovery option

Hi

Normally you can start the HDD recovery feature if you press the F8 button to go in advanced boot menu. After this select ?repair my computer? and in next windows you can choose the HDD recovery option from Toshiba.

By the way: Which OS you have installed at the moment? HDD recovery is only possible on preinstalled OS from Toshiba!

I bought a bluetooth adapter for my Toshiba c650d. I put it in the usb port but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it.

I have windows 7 64 bit.

I went to:
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers

Selected add new connection and I got an error message that said:

Bluetooth is not ready.

Anyone have any answers?

Answer:toshiba satellite c650d bluetooth problems

You need to install it's driver which, if not supplied with the device, should be available to download from the manufacturer's website. Without the manufacturer's driver, Windows has no way of knowing what the device actually is and therefore can't recognize it.

For the past week or so my Toshiba satellite laptop has been getting slower and slower to boot up and then will periodically freeze every 10-15 min for 3-5 min. I've uninstalled the mcafee program that started the issue, installed all updates, cleaned the hard drive and have run every diagnostic I know of and it just gets worse. Being in safe mode with networking does not make a difference. My wireless driver has also stopped working. When I run the startup repair it tells me that there is a non communicating external device (when I have nothing attached to the computer). Currently my computer has been booting up for three hours and has only progressed to the welcome screen. Please help!

Answer:Toshiba satellite c650d takes hours to boot up then freezes

Establish a Clean Boot, check the logs and System Resources, test your hardware and the other Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to go over your install thoroughly.

If this is the factory preinstalled Win7 then it's the worst possible install one can have of Win7, smothered by bloatware and useless duplicate utilties with better versions built into Win7. To get Win7's native perfect performance I would do what most tech enthusiasts do and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 following the steps in the blue link tutorial closely to get it perfect.

Until then I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

If you still want to proceed with the crappy Toshiba preinstall then you can also try Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace - Windows 7 Forums

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite U205-S5002. Yesterday when I attempted to start my laptop I received this error message: windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system

And something about pressing "r" from the recovery disk. Well, I booted from the only disk I received when I purchased the computer and there is no option for repair. The only options available are to return the laptop to "out of box" condition, or to erase the hard drive. In addition, every search I've done on this error message references a recovery console, yet I cannot seem to find one.

I have several very important documents that I did not back up. Also, this happened after I shut the laptop down and put it in my laptop backback (in a nylon zipped pocket) and wonder if it could have overheated? I'm dreading the possibility that my documents cannot be retrieved.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Specifically I need to know if and how I can get to the recovery console (I've tried F8 to no avail).

Please help...

Thanks

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Can't Find Recovery Console

Hi, and welcome to TSF!

You need to borrow a Windows CD because the Toshiba recovery disk does not have the recovery console on it. This will allow you to run the recovery console.

Moved you to Microsoft support/Windows XP

If your model was not recognized automatically it?s no problem because you can search for drivers yourself on official Toshiba website:

Sometimes, it can happen. Maybe, there is a bad, dusty(scratched sector) on a recovery dvd disk. By the way, what about hdd image? Is it still exist? You could restore it and make a new recovery disk

I have a Satellite C650D-12J with Windows 7 home premium 64bit. For some reason it has reverted to 32 bit. Everything that I need on the computer has been backed up. I tried to do a full system restore by pressing F8 and followed the instructions.

The answer I keep getting is the HDD recovery file is missing. I have looked at the D drive partition on the computer there is nothing there. I also have no internet access so am using a friends machine to post this.

Is it possible to download the HDD software copy it to my laptop and recover the laptop from the software?
If so how do I get hold of the software and use it?
Please be gentle with me I am quite old and have enough problems understanding basic use without to much technical jargon.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

Answer:Re: Satellite C650D-12J - missing HDD recovery image

Hello

I?ve checked specification for your notebook and there is written that your notebook was delivered with 64bit version only.
> For some reason it has reverted to 32 bit.
Something like this is NOT possible. You can have 32bit version just if 32bit version is installed using Microsoft OS installation (clean OS installation). Best evidence is missing original 64bit recovery image.

> The answer I keep getting is the HDD recovery file is missing.
Where you can see this message?
When you start notebook and use F8 to enter ?Advanced boot options? is option ?Repair my computer? there?

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite C650D-12J that has recently been plagued by a virus and now refuses to boot. Every time it tries to boot into Windows it blue screens and restarts.

I have ordered the recovery media from Toshiba as the easiest solution is to recover the laptop and restore the factory default settings.

However, when I insert the recovery DVD and choose to boot from CD/DVD all I get is a loading bar that turns to a black screen with the white cursor. Thats it!?

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Regards,

Chris

Answer:Re: Satellite C650D-12J Refuses to boot from Recovery DVD

What was the Blue Screen STOP Code? (the 0x000000?? number)

Have you installed extra RAM? Maybe it's incompatible or faulty. You can use the bootable Memtest CD to test the RAM ( www.memtest.org )

Also reset the BIOS to Default settings.

Hi

I have a C650D that has just fallen out of warranty and subsequently died on me. I had made the Recovery disks at purchase so thought it would be a simple matter of using them and I would be able to use the laptop again...seems I was wrong :(

I have tried the F8 at start up option and all i get is the following message:
No bootable device - - insert boot disk and press any key.

I inserted the recovery disk and after an encouraging amount of disk drive noise and the message windows is loading the files I then got a box asking me to choose the language I wanted, followed by an error message that there was something missing...i didn't get time to write it down in full before it quit on me. Subsequent attempts to load (incase there was something wrong with initial attempt) get to the windows loading page then nothing....

Can anyone advise me what I need to do to fix this please?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Cannot install recovery image on Satellite C650D

> No bootable device - - insert boot disk and press any key.
I?m afraid this message has something to do with HDD. Is HDD recognized properly in BIOS settings?

If yes, set please BIOS to default settings and try to use recovery DVDs again.

By the way: you can see language option but you cannot choose other language than original language you got with your notebook. With other words if you have Spain OS you cannot choose other language. You got OS on Spain only.

Hi - have had problems with Satellite C650D model for some months - very slow, lots of viruses, constantly crashing, constant updates, constant "windows could not log on" and "windows is trying to repair your system" problems. I have reinstalled the factory settings for the laptop several times, but the problems keep occurring - should I purchase a recovery disc - is this different to the installed Recovery system?? Thanks

Recovery DVD contains the same recovery image as image saved on HDD so there is no difference.

To be honest I don?t understand what the problem can be.
Can you please tell us what have you done exactly (reinstalled the factory settings)? I mean how have you done this?

Hi,

I posted a few days ago as my reinstallation was stuck.
After two days of trying I gave up. I still do not know what the problem was but it seems that I can do nothing with it. I did 32bit and 64bit recovery disc so thought I would try that way...silly me.

I have Windows 7 on the disck, but obviosuly I can not get in to windows per se currently.

So, It boots to the disc but I am really struggling thereafter.
I've tried lots of different options and getting nowhere.

The latest error message is "To use sytem restore, you must specify which windows installation to restore. Restart the computer, select the operating system, and then select system restore"...which I've done many times and still come back to this screen.

I am not sure if the partitioned drive is still there with the back up or not, or even if it is still worth trying to work off that. Previously I could get to it but there was not an option to completely restart as it thought there was one still running (which was stuck).

Basically, from the recovery disc set I created I can get to an option that gives me:

Startup Repair +(Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically - Problem event name was StartupRepair Offline)+
System Restore +(To use sytem restore, you must specify which windows installation to restore. Restart the computer, select the operating system, and then select system restore)+

Re: comment in the other thread - Apologies for starting a new thread; I did so to avoid any confusion as it is now a completely different issue. I actually came across the board from a google search which ironically lead me to a thread that wasn't relevant in very similar circumstances to this, hence the thought process of starting a new one! I was also concerned that people would not look at the thread again if there was simply another post to the same thread if they had already looked and could not help with that issue.

Hi Everybody, Do you have an idea how to get back the revovery option on startup after pressing F11 or Enter ? Before i create the recovery CD/DVD i had this option, now when i have created the the DVD i lost it . Now for a recovery i have to press F8 --> REPAIR WINDWOS ( loading files etc.) and then i can see the option LENOVO RECOVERY. From my experience I know that it can happen that option F8 is not working if there is a big error in windows, that's why it's better to have the recovery option on start up (Boot option), have you any idea how i can get back this option ? Thanks for any help.Brgds,m4ki

Back to school for 4 children with laptops is a pain, I seem to be constantly wiping them and setting them up again.

Any ideas why the recovery disks of Vista don't display the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery option?

I made a USB drive and copied all the files from a backup of the Recvery Drive to it. The USB shows the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery option but asks for the disks and will not run the recovery from the USB itself. This is annoying but at least I can still use it to recover the machine.

I would like to either

solve the issue with the disks

or

get the USB to recover using it's own files instead of asking for the disks. Vista wasn't created with the option to recover from USB so this might be impossible.

Answer:Vista Recovery disks don't display TOSHIBA HDD Recovery option

The HDD recovery option will not appear in the Advanced boot menu if something has been changed or modified on the HDD and the ?flag? has been removed.
For example this may be the case if the partition has been changed, modified or if the HDD recovery files or folder has been modified, moved or deleted.

In case you want to recover the notebook back to factory settings, you have to use the recovery disk

Heya

I can't access the recovery manager on a Toshiba L350. I have tried holding down 0 (zero, both of them) at the start to access the HD-Recovery, but nothing happens. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

The reason I want to access is:
I have a Toshiba l350 with a partly installed windows here. At the moment, it gets "Starting Windows" and "The instalation program is started services" (in Norwegian) whichs stop with a popupbox saying "The computer unexpectedly restartet, or an unexpected error occured. The insatllation cannot procceed. To install Windows you have to click ok to restart the computer. Start the installation process again.".

What started the trouble was that during the last part of the installation (after Win7 became usable, but before everything was setup), escape was pressed and the computer was used normally.

Answer:Satellite L350: Can't access recovery partition by pressing 0

> I can't access the recovery manager on a Toshiba L350. I have tried holding down 0 (zero, both of them) at the start to access the HD-Recovery, but nothing happens. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

I assume you are using an European notebook model and therefore you should try this;
- Press F8 while notebook powering up.
- Then choose ?Repair my Computer?
- Then ?Toshiba HDD Recovery?.

This should allow you to start the Toshiba HDD recovery process.

Hi,

I have to use the recovery cd on my laptop (satellite sm30-801). I have different partitions on it and I would like to maintain them but the windows. When I run the recovery cd, I see an option 'for expert', which should allow me to do it, but I have no idea how to use it (since I am not an expert :) )
It opens a menu with Local, in which the only options are:
Disk -> from image
Partition -> from image
Check-> image file or Disk

Any idea of what should I do?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Answer:Expert option in Toshiba Recovery Utility 1.0.1.0

Hi,

so if you are not an expert why you are asking? I mean, even if someone is explaining you what is what, are you sure that you will have any advantage from that expert options?
The expert options are more for experienced users and business use, so just leave that option how it is and download a good partition manager from the internet.
Would be absolutely better then destroying the system from beginning. ;)

Did you per chance just upgrade to Window 10 right before it happened? If that is the case, this happens a lot.

Try the following and see if it fixes it...

1. Go into "Control Panel".
2. Click "Hardware and Sound".
3. Now click "Mouse and Touchpad".
4. Now go to "Additional mouse options".
5. The Mouse Properties window will open. In here click on your device.
6. Make sure your device is set to enabled. If it isn't then click "Enable Device".
7. Exit both that screen and "Control Panel".

It should work now.

Also, you might also want to check for updates to your drivers.

Hi! My laptop (Windows 7 - 64 bit) didn't come with any discs. I found a "Repair Disk" option, so I created one of those. But I was actually looking for the option of how to create a disk to set it back to "factory settings", if need be.

I forget the name of it, but I think that's called a "Recovery Disk"??? The computer prompted me to create one the other day, but I didn't have the time to do it and it asked me to it at a later time. It hasn't appeared again yet... where can I find this option to make one when I have the time?
Thanks.

You need to check your program list. There should be something that refers to making a recovery disc.

Greetings,

first time posting, so not really sure if this would be a vista question or hardware.

A friend's PC is getting the 0xc00000e9 error .. An unexpected I/O error has occured.

System is stock Toshiba Satellite C650D-007 (AMD CPU, 3GB, 320GB HD etc)

When she boots the system, it gets to the Windows Error Recovery. Options are Launch Startup Repair (recommended)(LSR) and Start Windows Normally(SWN). Upon going to LSR.. windows is loading bar scrolls.. it gets to about 65% .. then it goes to the status 0xc00000e9 error.

Selecting SWN, the windows splash screen starts then after about 3-5 mins Microsoft Blue Screen flashes and the system reboots.

I powered off the system and installed her HD into my laptop as secondary (to be able to transfer any information onto a external for backup).. and my laptop gets that boot error.

I inserted a clean version of Win 7 Home Prem, and rebooted expecting to be able to format HD but DVD drive stops spinning. All i get is a blank screen with cursor.

I am thinking that the Drive is bad or has crashed.

any attmepts to go F8 to Safemode takes me back to error screens. Unable to get to C prompt, to do checkdisk.

Any help would be appreciated

Answer:0xc00000e9 I/O error on a Toshiba C650D-007

You can do a check disk in DOS and see that way;
Put your windows CD in the drive and Boot from CD.
When you see the message Press any key to boot from CD, press a key (If you miss it, reboot the computer and try again).
When you get to the Windows installation screen, it will tell you to press R to enter Recovery Mode - Press R.
It may ask you which windows installation you want to boot to - On most systems, this will be (1), but if you have a dual boot system or a second HDD installed, then it may be different.
You will be asked for a password; If the Administrator password has been set, use this. If not, leave it blank.
You will now see a command prompt, type in CHKDSK /R, and press ENTER.

Else you can grab Drive Fitness from my signature and run that over it?

m55z1n Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but as documented in this HP post, if your PC came preinstalled with the original version of Win10, after you do the November Update, the Recovery Manager no longer works: HP PCs - Updating to the Latest Version of Windows 10 (Fall 2015 Update) | HP® Customer Support However, if what you want is a way to do recovery, all is not lost. Instead, you can use a third party product known as Macrium Reflect. Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives. What I recommend is the following:1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR)2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB stick3) Use the option to create a boot USB stick or CDMy experience is that MR, when using the High Compression option, typically can compress the saved image file to about 50% of the USED space in the OS partition. This means if you have an 80GB OS partition, and 40GB is used, MR only needs about 20GB to store the image file.I use this all the time and it typically takes less than 10 minutes to do the image backup and about the same time or less to do a restore. Plus, MR has the option to Add a Recovery Boot Menu entry. This allows you then to boot into WinRE, and you can then use that to do a restore -- when you can't boot into Windows!NOW, you h... Hi

Several days ago I bought a netbook Toshiba NB550D. It had Windows Starter preinstalled, but I wanted to try Linux. I installed Linux and, of course, left the recovery partition. Now I would go back to Windows.

I would like to restore the preinstalled software from the hard disk, but I can't find Toshiba HDD Recovery Software that could install on a newly installed Windows and restore the system from the hard disk. Where can I find it?

I have an entire partition needed for recovery, nothing moves or removed.

Enormously grateful for the help
Toshiba NB550D User

Answer:NB550D - Can't find Toshiba HDD recovery software

Hello

The Toshiba HDD recovery software can be started via advanced boot menu of preinstalled Windows version. With other words this feature works with preinstalled OS only.

Now you have installed another OS (Linux) and that means you can?t start the HDD recovery option anymore. HDD recovery partition is not enough to do this.

Did you create a bootable USB stick using recovery media creator before installing Linux? If yes you can use this stick now to restore the original settings. If you don?t have this stick you can order a recovery medium here:

I had to replace the hard disk drive in my notebook (Toshiba Satellite L50-C-,19P) windows 10. So when I try to put Windows back on my notebook it can't find the new hard drive. It says I need drivers for my hard disk drive. I can't find any on the Toshiba website and on other sites the ones don't work. Does anyone know where I could get the right drivers for my hard disk drive Toshiba MQ01ABD100?
If not, is it possible to buy another hard disk drive for which I can get some drivers? What kind of hdd could I use instead?

My Satellite P10 has crashed, suggesting a hard disc error may be imminent, I have a recovery disk but this does not have a repair option, only a full recovery. As I would like to attempt to recover some data, is there a Repair option, which normally accompanies these discs.
If so where can I get one?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite P10 - repair option on recovery disc

Recovery disc has no repair option. Recovery disc contains recovery image only. Try to obtain Microsoft installations CD and use repair option there. If you will not be able to repair preinstalled operating system as last option you can use recovery disc and install recovery image.

Hi,

I'm trying restore to factory settings but not having any luck.

I have tried pressing F8 when toshiba logo comes up, it goes to the advance boot screen and I select repair computer and it starts windows. I don't get the recovery options.
I have also tried pressing zero when powering up the laptop just beeps at me.

What im I doing wrong?

its a L300-149 running vista

Answer:Cannot recover Satellite L300 using HDD recovery option

As I can see all you do is right.
Switch your notebook ON and press F8 several times and you will enter Advanced Boot options

The first option should be ?Repair your computer? and after two or three steps you should see System Recovery Options and last option there must be ?Toshiba recovery?.

Have you used this recovery options in the past or you try to use it for the first time?

Hi,

I own a Satellite A100-237 notebook which, after a long struggle with various virus and trojan attacks, needs a system recovery. I have a 2-CD Product Recovery package with Windows XP Home edition along with SP2 and all the drivers/tools etc. and the process is supposedly pretty straightforward - albeit I have a serious issue at hand: Partitions.

My 80 GB HD is divided in two partitions: A 60 GB C: for the OS and general use and a 20 GB D: for back-ups of EXTREME PROMINENCE. Now that I know that I can use an "expert recovery mode" to recover my system while keeping the back-ups intact. Now that's actually where the problem steps in.

When I boot from the recovery CD there is absolutely NO OPTION FOR AN "EXPERT" RECOVERY MODE!

I'm simply greeted by a language selection screen. Past that is the option to install Windows XP Home in English or localized version (Turkish, in my case), in both cases the entire HD is wiped out. Next to it are an "Abort" button and a "Settings" button. "Abort", well as the label suggests, shuts the computer down. "Settings" on the other hand is more complicated. You are presented with a window with a nice slider which maxes out at 76 GB - you are supposed to set an installation partition of preferred size. However, in this case the whole HD gets wiped out as well - you get only an installation partition and the remaining space simply becomes "Unallocated". I have tri... Read more

Answer:No expert recovery option on Satellite A100-237?

I have contacted the local distributor and various technical service centers - the response is still the same: "A100 series notebooks are not meant to be used with a partitioned disk, use of a partitioned disk will put the machine out of warranty and you will not be eligible for technical support if any problems arise." They "kindly" offered me another Windows XP license for $170, though. And one service center actually offered me a counterfeit copy of the Windows XP CD - they surely haven't met BSA, I say.

All in all I'm between returning the machine for a refund or just picking a sledgehammer and pummeling it to the ground. The second option seems more appealing as the refund grace period has long expired and they'll probably charge me just to dispose of the machine. A computer I can't use with a partitioned disk is little more than a worthless piece of silicon and plastic.

I guess the only remaining "sane" solution is legal action.

But then I have to use a pirated XP to retain my partitions, which puts me under equal liability.

I guess this problem is unsolvable.

EDIT: I absolutely have no idea how and why I have violated the rules of this forum - hence my post is edited by the administrator. Still, I apologize for any violation. I'm unsurprisingly enraged by the current situation and may have made a mistake. Anyway, my stopgap solution is to stick with a non-genuine XP and purchase Vista when it's out. My A100-237 is out-of-t... Read more

I have been told that turning "Sleep to Charge" on in the bios of my satellite A200 will help my iPhone connect with iTunes without freezing it. I have downloaded the latest bios (2.50) and cannot find anywhere in it that will allow me to turn on "Sleep to Charge".

Can anyone help?

Answer:Satellite A200 - Can't find Sleep & Charge option in BIOS

Hi

If you can?t find this option in BIOS your notebook doesn?t support this feature. With this feature you can only charge USB devices while the notebook in sleep mode. It has nothing to do with the connection while notebook is running.

So I doubt that this can solve your problem. You have to search for another solution.

Hi everybody

I bought a laptop TOSHIBA Sattellite from a supermarket, but when I wanted to download the drivers from TOSHIBA official site, I did not find my pc in the list of drivers or in any page of the site, even with the automatic detection, knowing that reference of the laptop is TOSHIBA Satellite C55-A-19K.

Now I want to know is that normal, or am I a victim of an imitation product.

Answer:Cannot find my Satellite C55-A-19K on Toshiba page

As I can see this notebook model was delivered without preinstalled operating system so I presume you want to find drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Your notebook model is listed there but you must watch which criteria you must choose. As you can see you cannot search for C55-A-19K but for Satellite C55-A with part number PSCG8E.

Please check it again.

Hello everybody.
I've got an old fashioned 480 CDT here, used, but still works fine. Runs Win98 fine so far.

The Problem: The machine urgently needs re-installation, but I've got no disks for the Toshiba specific tools (i.e. HWSETUP etc.) which came originally with the laptop. (But a Win98 CD I do have!) Seems that they've been lost along its long way.

I didn't find a possibility to download these tools from the Toshiba support pages. Maybe I'm too blind so somebody can give me a link where to download the Toshiba Tools?

Where can I find these tools? (I did find the Archive section, but there these tools aren't listed :-(

Thanks in advance.

Martin.

Answer:Where I could find Toshiba tools for my Satellite Pro 480 CDT

Hi,

I looked on the toshiba sites after your problem and you could go to http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
in the menu Support & Download - Driver Download you could find a site to download drivers.

In the first drop down menu you have to choose ARCHIVE there is your laptop.

But there is only the Advanced Power Mode for W98 and BIOS update downloadable

it seems that the Satellite Pro 480 was only delievered with Win95.

It'll hope this will help you

Hi everyone,

With my Toshiba nothing but problems. First I waited replacement screen for month cause there wasn?t any at warehouse. K, after that I downgraded to XP but driver are buggy, sound is poor, cant get USB2.0 to work, system is slower than Vista so I decided to return to Vista.

But of course, there is no DVD so I need to restore via HDD restore folder I have. But cool, Toshiba doesn't let me to download utility to create backup DVD. So what I can do? I have HDD Recovery folder, how to now create DVD without utility I was first given.

Ps.
You can say it?s not Toshiba fault; you did that bla bla. Of course, but first I waited replacement screen, I wasn?t given original Vista DVD, I cant even download utility from Toshiba. What sad piece of equipment. I have experience, my first installed OS was DOS and Win95, numerous OS installation after that but this that I can install back my OS in 2009 I wouldn't hope its gonna happen.

Any ideas you good ppl

Answer:Satellite A300-1lT - I want restore Vista with the recovery option

Sorry buddy, but in this case you need a new recovery disk. The HDD Recovery folder is not useful for you because you don’t have Windows Vista yet and as you already know the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator can’t be downloaded.

So you must order a new disk from an authorized service provider or Toshiba directly:

To be honest this is not a problem of Toshiba. If you start the notebook at first time you get the following message and this should not be ignored:

+Important INFORMATION+

+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+

+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+

Hi

i have got a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 which recently faced the "alert: system protection failure! password:" problem i.e. it turned on some unknown BIOS password on its own in the middle of normal operation.

i got that fixed from local toshiba ASP.
However now when i was about to reinstall the Windows cos it had got slow, the option that the recovery media normally gives for just formatting the first partition became invalid.

In the settings dailog box, the option is still there however it cannot be selected by clicking on it (of the color of the background showing that not valid option presently)...which means is that the only possible selection (selected as default) is format the whole of 38 GB... which i don't wanna do.

Any one knows whats gone wrong and how can i fix it.

Answer:Re: Satellite Pro A120: Cannot select a option on Recovery disk

I assume you are using the Windows XP and the recovery CD contains also the XP OS.
It?s also interesting if this option worked in the past ?:|

However, it?s really mysterious that the available option cannot be executed and unfortunately I have no idea why it happened?

In worst case you will have to backup the data from the HDD and to format the whole HDD? :(

Hi...

I want to re-install windows 7 ,but the recovery option will erase everything....I don?t want to use that ,I saw an activation key at bottom of the laptop for win 7 saying it is oa mea ??

So is there any way I could do that without erasing everything.

Answer:Satellite L755-16L - Installing new Win7 without recovery option

Hi

Please check http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
There you can find all info about HDD recovery installation and exact info what will be deleted exactly (check ?Note?).

Product key at the bottom means that you have bought notebook with preinstalled OS and valid licence. This key belongs to preinstalled OS version. Don?t think you can use it for OS activation if you try to install own OS version using Microsoft installation disc.

> So is there any way I could do that without erasing everything.
I don?t know what do you mean under everything.
If you want to have clean preinstalled OS again best option for you is to back-up all important data to external device and after OS installation you can copy all this stuff back to notebook?s HDD.

I have tried numerous times and can't get the system recovery option by intermittently hitting the *f8 key during startup* like it says in the manual, it just goes straight into Windows. I just installed the latest BIOS but that didn't help either. I have no disks for recovery but I would like to get the f8 issue solved anyway. Everything else works perfectly. Thanks.

Answer:Re: Satellite T110-107 will not boot into recovery option screen using f8 key.

Hi

Maybe you didn?t press the F8 in the right manner?
You have to press F8 immediately after the notebook has been powered up!!!
Press it several times to be 100% sure?

If this will not function, create the recovery disk!!! This should be done at first before doing anything with the notebook!!!!
The recovery disk is always important and helpful if something would go wrong with the HDD!!!

After creating the recovery disk use this disk in order to set the notebook back to the same state like at the first day of purchase?

Hi, this my firs Thread.
I reseted my Satellite A500 and due to a power failure the reset didn't complete. When I restartet with F8 I can see the option HDD Recovery, but then it requires login into my account which I didn't make at all because of the power failure.
Then I installed a retail copy of Vista, hoping to create an account and be able to recover from the HDD.
PROBLEM!!! : Now I don't see the option "HDD recovery" at all.
QUESTION: There must be a way to integrate this option back into windows Startmenu (F8). Can somebody help me with this matter? I didn't burn the recovery DVD's and the recovery partition is still there.
Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A500 - HDD recovery option no longer available at F8 Menu

Biggest mistake you?ve made is that you didn?t create recovery DVD as recommended by Toshiba.

Why you didn?t ask us how it works before you done anything?
You?ve wrong understood this with username and account.

At this moment when you use your own installation you will remove option for HDD recovery installation and recovery image can be installed with recovery DVD only.
Now you have two options:
-to order new recovery DVD or
-to use own OS installation.

What do you think about that?
To be honest I think you should use Windows 7 on this notebook.

I recommend you to install Win7. All necessary drivers you can find and download from Toshiba download page

If you have more questions or need some assistance please let me know.

I have this laptop with 3 Partitions
The main partition got corrupted and apparently wiped so all windows folders have been deleted and a low level format carried out
I still have the recovery sector
Just wondering how to reinstall it back onto the main partition
I tried F8 and it took me to a screen to choose language but after that it said "You must log in to access system recovery options"
I guess user data has been wiped from the main partition ?
Are there any other keys to press on startup to access the Recovery partition ?
Thanks

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Recovery

Look at the boot screen when you start the computer up - that's the one with the Toshiba logo all over it - and you should see commands like 'Press 'Del' for BIOS' and 'Press 'F8' for boot choices'. There will be one for 'Recovery' if you have a recovery partition. It is sometimes 'F2' but by no means always.

Press whichever is the specified key while the boot screen is showing and the recovery system should start, and once you have made one or two choices via dialogue boxes it will just run until it is completed.

TWO POINTS. The first is that this process will wipe all your own data and applications off the system. I would suggest that you take the hard drive out and slave it to another computer - you may need to use some sort of 'caddy' but they are widely available - to try and save what you can of your own data.

The second is that this process will restore your computer to the condition it was in when it was built ! This means you will have to uninstall any manufacturer installed software that you don't want, and that you will have to re-install all your own appications, and you will have all the updates to do since it was built !

The important bit here, if you decide to go down this route, is to try and back-up your own data - documents, photos, whatever - this is the valuable stuff. You say a 'low-level format has been carried out'. This may mean that your data is already gone, but see if you can still save any of it.

Good luck,

Which OS you have?
How did you reinstall Windows (Microsoft or Toshiba disk)?

Furthermore it would be interesting to know what you mean with Ethernal driver. Do you mean Ethernet driver?

Normally if you reinstall Windows by using Toshiba recovery disk you don?t need a special driver. Everything is preinstalled on your computer.

Hello,

I turned on my laptop running windows 8 and the backlight lit up but there was no display. I could hear it turning on and the indicator light came on. When connected to an external monitor, the display was just fine. I did some research, opened it up and disconnected and reconnected a few things (which I do often) and closed it back up. When I tried to turn it on this morning it was unresponsive. When connected to the ac adapter the charging light will turn on but the power button does not turn the laptop on. I desperately need this laptop for school, it's beyond it's warranty and I don't have the money to get it serviced. If I can find the source of the problem I'm open to replacing said part as long as it's not more expensive than sending it out to Toshiba.

I've since taken the entire thing apart. The only things connected are the motherboard and CPU, both of which I've taken out and cleaned (fan was gross but I digress). I'm handy enough to be able to put it back together correctly and I know the basic parts, but I was hoping that someone could walk me though some troubleshooting as I put it back together. Or if that's not how it's done, maybe someone can help me take it apart in the right order to isolate the problem part once I get it back together.

I have high hopes that it can work again (as it was powering up just fine a couple days ago with the exception if the display problem) I'm just not sure how to ... Read more

Hi,

I cannot find the Windows 10 product Key on my Toshiba Notebook. Where is the sticker? On my notebook or elsewhere? Thank you for your answers in advance

Answer:Cannot find Windows 10 serial key on Toshiba Satellite C50-C-1JL

Windows 8 PCs now embed their product keys in the BIOS.

In the past, a new Windows PC would display its product key on a sticker, usually on the side of a desktop and on the base or the bottom of the battery compartment on a laptop. But with Windows 8, Microsoft has switched gears and now stores and encrypts the key in the BIOS instead.

Guess its the same for Win 10.

I've seen an HP laptop running Win 10 that doesn't have said sticker either.

The disk was not supplied because it was possible to create an recover disk using Toshiba recovery disk creator software which was available on the HDD!

The Toshiba recovery disk is NOT the same like common Windows installation disk!
The recovery disk contains an image and you can just run the recovery disk in order to set the notebook back to the same state like at the first day of purchase. This means, you HDD will be formatted!!!

If you don?t want to lose the file on the HDD, I would recommend booting from a Linux live CD or from WinPE disk.
WinPE can be downloaded and you could create a bootable CD.
Then you could get access to the HDD and could backup the data on external HDD or USB stick.

Google for WinPE or linux live CD to get more details

I?ve used the recovery disc I made when purchased but it does not give me the Toshiba option to restore to factory state. I?ve tried the repair option and everything I can think of.

Any idea what to try next as obviously i don?t have a Windows 7 disc any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Satellite C650 - No factory settings option on recovery disk

Hi debs2k,

If you boot from Toshiba recovery disk what options you have exactly? Normally you can restore the out of box settings if you choose the recovery wizard.

Usually all Toshiba recovery disk have the option to restore the original settings and I can?t imagine that your disk doesn?t have such an option. So please check it again, I?m sure you have an option to restore the original settings. ;)

Hello everyone,

I bought a used Lap top off of a former classmate of mine and after using it for about 6 months, I decided to do a complete factory restore on it to clean it up. I do not have any recovery disks so I need to do the factory restore using the HDD.

for some reason I can not run the factory restore. I follow the correct steps (FAQ :: How do I run a System Recovery? :: Support :: Toshiba :: Computers, Laptops/Notebooks, Tablets, Televisions, DVD and Blu-Ray Players, Camcorders, Storage, Accessories, and more) but it will not go into the restore mode. It just beeps and starts windows 7. Is my recovery driver corrupt? How can I repair it?

I have a Toshiba Satillite and it is running Windows 7. I think it might have originally been running Windows XP and the previous owner upgraded to Windows 7. I've lost contact with the guy I bought the lap-top from.

See attached for a screen shot of my drivers.

I hope someone can help me out!!

Thanks,

Ro82

Answer:How do I repair my recovery HDD on my Toshiba Satellite

If he upgraded to win7 - the recovery partition would contain XP.

The upgrade proces would likely cause problems with accesing it.

If you need a win7 install disc, you can get the .iso files from links at my digital life.

Just google:

win 7 sp1 iso my digital life

You would need the windows 7 product key. get it from your existing installation , before you reinstall.

You can find that with any number of programs - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

I have a Toshiba Satellite P205D that runs on Windows Vista. I was having a few occasional problems with my CD/DVD drive, my updates wouldn't install, and many of my programs were seemingly corrupted as well. I tried to do a system recovery to the factory settings, and now I'm getting a message on start-up that my bootmgr is missing . None of my F keys are working, except F2 and F12. I have made several attempts at recovery since with two brand new sets of recovery disks. I have gotten the following error messages: 0x8007045D Boot: WIM; Boot .SDI; Preinst.crc and Preinst. SWM. I tried changing my boot order, and received an F3-F000-0008 message. I am desperate for help and would greatly appreciate any suggestions

Thanks

Not sure if I'm in the correct forum? I tried to redo my Satellite P300 with the recovery discs I burnt when I bought the laptop. No recovery partition on this model. The discs indicated an error right at the very end, and of course by that time the "C" drive was wiped. Outside of buying recovery discs from Toshiba, if they're still available, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Recovery Disc

I would try running the recovery discs again, this may have been a 'blip' and may not repeat. Make sure the discs are clean.

Failing that, what OS did you have on this laptop - XP, Vista, Win 7 ? If you have a Windows validation code on a sticker on the bottom, and can lay your hands on an install disc for your OS, you can re-install Windows that way. The only problem you are likely to have is sourcing the drivers for the graphics, sound, wi-fi, etc. and the best place to go for them is the Toshiba web-site. If you google 'Toshiba satellite P300 drivers' you will find a number of links.

If all else fails, you can always try Toshiba for recovery discs. I have a set for a Satellite of slightly older vintage and I must admit I have never checked them for integrity !

How d I do a Destructive Recovery on a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5928. I have no discs, but I would like to reset to factory new.

Answer:Destructive Recovery Toshiba Satellite

Your computer may have a recovery partition on the hard drive. Try holding down the 0 (zero) key while powering up the computer from a totally off state. If the computer has such a partition, you will get a Toshiba Recovery Wizard screen. One of the options will be to restore the factory software. Selecting that should then change the screen to give you the option to restore to "out-of-the-box" state.

Click the "User Guide" tab on this page for the computer's on-line user manual that includes information on recovery options.

Hi all,

I bought quite old laptop from my friend Satellite A100 Pro and he lost windows XP Pro CD,
I have product key.

Can i get from somewhere Windows xp pro eng cd and install it on my laptop with my cd key?

thanks for ur help

Answer:Satellite Pro A100 - No Recovery CD - Can I use the Toshiba key?

Hi

The serial key which you have found at the bottom of the unit belongs to the preinstalled Toshiba Windows OS and it?s a OEM key which will NOT work with other Windows XP disks.

This mean that if you want to install the Windows XP on this notebook then you have to purchase the Toshiba Recovery disk again from the ASP in your country or you will take a original Microsoft Win XP disk and will use this disk and the key which belongs to this Win XP OS.

You?ve got these two options.

Maybe Toshiba Support have my version of system/ or drivers alone in archive and they can send me it ?

What is it with Toshiba? The part number is clearly printed on the label on the underside of the laptop but the corresponding part number appears nowhere on the Toshiba support pages. My Toshiba T110 netbook came with Windows 7 home, 64bit preinstalled.
I have some critical applications which will only run under the 32bit version so I have to downgrade.

I have ordered a 500Gb hard disc to install the 32 bit version (keeping the original disc for returning to 64bit if required in the future, since no installation discs were supplied, just a recovery partition). My expected difficulty will be adding the Toshiba specific programs for activating eco mode, switching WiFi and bluetooth via function keys etc. and sleep & charge etc.

Are the installation files for these programs available somewhere? and if so in 32bit versions?

Hi

May I ask you why you are looking for this ?Toshiba Utilities??
Are some notebook features no available?

In my opinion you don?t need Toshiba Utilities if you are using Win 7.
I have installed Win 7 and everything what I needed, was the VAP (value added package).

This package contains some tools and utilities.
If you want to use FN keys, then you should install additionally Toshiba Flash Cards Utility? such utility is not released for all notebooks models? so try to install such tool released for example for; Toshiba Satellite L500

Hello all. I am very new here. By very new I mean this is my first time posting on a Tech forum. I very often search for answers and techspot.com appears a lot with solutions to practically every question I can think of.
Today I am stumped and running short on time.

My colleague from work, who is quite poor with computers and setting up and stuff, so I told him I would help him by removing Vista from his system and installing windows XP.
I know that this day and age I should be upgrading him to Windows 7, but I dont have that CD.

What I have done is this:

Installed a Windows XP Professional for a DELL onto his Toshiba Satellite A100-033.
I already knew (thanks to forums) that I would need to install the drivers for many of the devices after Windows XP installed. Oh I should mention, When installing XP I deleted the partition that originally hosted Vista, and formatted the drive to NTSF (forgive me if the arconym isnt exactly correct).
After installing XP, I searched Device Manager for the yellow ? marks. I currently have 7 yellows:

+ ? Other devices
- ? Ethernet Controller
- ? Ethernet Controller
- ? Mass Storage Controller
- ? PCI Device
- ? SM Bus Controller
- ? Video Controller
- ? Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I have searched tirelessly for the drivers.
Toshiba website said thhis model is discontinued.
However, I thought I could find them somewhere else in the WWWeb.
Unfortunately I could not.
I found some unlicensed program which suppose... Read more

Answer:Need to find Toshiba Satellite A100-033 drivers? Do they still exist?

If the PC you are working on was bought with Vista pre-installed on, then installing XP should be ok as far as the hardware is concerned.
You can try a program to automatically do the searching for you, but it's not always 100% correct, and you may be left with a few to find.
This one seems to work fairly well;
http://www.driveridentifier.com/
You will need the product key that was supplied with the installation disc, to activate windows.
You should be able to get the Video card driver from either Nvidia or AMD (or SIS), from the information in 'Device manager'. the 'update driver' option can work, but sometimes has been known to download an old version of the driver.

Hi,

where I can find all the drivers for Windows Xp for my Satellite C650D-11K?

I've seen something on Toshiba Support & Drivers page but the question is: if originally it has installed Windows 7 64 bit, how I can install all the drivers for Win Xp (32 bit, I suppose)?

Please help me.

Thanks.

Answer:Need WXP drivers for Satellite C650D-11K

Your question is really strange. If your notebook is supported for WXP, and it is definitely supported, then install WXP and later all necessary drivers, tools and utilities one by one.

Before you do this create recovery disc using preinstalled ?Toshiba recovery disc creator?. This disc can you use to install Win7 64bit again in the future when you don?t want to use WXP anymore.

2 months new Toshiba Satellite C650D, system could not power up using either battery or AC adapter. Anything tips to fix the problems? Thanks

Answer:Satellite C650D - Could not power up

Hi Jason123,

What does it mean exactly when you say the system could not power up?
Do you see something on screen e. g. Toshiba BIOS screen or is the screen completely black? Do you notice that some LEDs are lightning or not?

Usually such power up problems are hardware related because software doesn?t affect this? On Toshiba site I found some interesting instructions what you should do if your notebook doesn?t start anymore so maybe it?s useful for you:

Hi,

I have a satellite c650d that I am trying to fix. The battery is dead so it relies on mains power. It was working fine until some point when it simply wouldn't turn on at all. Since the battery isn't there the LED for the charger is green.

I took it apart to see if I could find anything. What I noticed is that when the screen cable is disconnected from the motherboard it seems to power on fine with the power LED on as well, fan working etc. I don't have an external monitor to test it fully however.
When the screen cable is connected, for an instant, as I press the power button, the mains LED goes off, the power LED flickers orange for a split second and then the mains LED turns on green again.

I thought then that I might have a faulty screen connection wire, so I ordered a new one and swapped it out. The problem persists. I disconnect it from the monitor, leave it connected to the motherboard; the problem is still there. I disconnect it from the webcam; same result. When I disconnect it from the motherboard and try to power on it seems ok as before, LEDs, fan etc.

I haven't managed to find anything on the internet yet. Has anyone come across this before or have any ideas as to what I can do?

Thanks
