Question: HDD recovery at Satellite A200-23J

Is here somebody who knows if Satellite A200-23J has a HDD recovery incorporated ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: HDD recovery at Satellite A200-23J

I cannot say for sure but I am 99% sure it is delivered with HDD recovery image.
Can you please tell us what is your problem with this notebook model?
How we can help?

As I encountered frequent problem with starting my Satellite A200-TH1 recently, I was advised to use the recovery disks by the vender. When I use it, after the initial two instructions (F12 /enter setup /F9), nothing happened. I selected the CD drive then pressed F9.

Can any one help me to complete the process to get my computer recovered fully?

Answer:Recovery of Satellite A200-TH1

Hello

Does your computer try to start from CD or what happens exactly?

Have you tested different bootable disks to check if the recovery disk works properly? You can use a Microsoft Windows disk to test this. If this disk work, your recovery disk is scratched/faulty, otherwise it could be a problem of your CD/DVD drive.

Recently, my laptop has had an error to run and I formated this with the CD Recovery. Then this progress asked to me a "CD/DVD Recovery Add-on", but I don't have this CD/DVD, how can I download?.
My laptop is a Satellite A200.
Thanks,

Answer:Re: Recovery add -on for Satellite A200

Hi

I have installed recovery image numerous times but I?ve never saw such add-on.
Do you use recovery disc for the first time?
Can you please make a photo and let us see this message?

Believe me there is no add-on or anything similar that can be downloaded or used with recovery image installation.

I thought I would do a clean install of windows as I have a very slow PC, I have the product recovery disk that came with the computer with the toshiba label etc, but cannot get it to work. When I try to boot from the CD it doesn't load.

I have also tried the repair your computer option but that doesn't work either.

I don't have any recovery disk creator software on the pc that I can find.

All help appreciated.

Thanks

I have a Satellite A200-1TO.

This morning my laptop kept switching off.
I tried the usual recovery methods but was unable to get windows to load, not even in safe mode.

I popped in the recovery disk to see if I could repair windows, after mucking around I decided to do a full recovery.
Followed all the instructions, chose to format the whole drive, all seemed to go well until I got to 57% then install failed.

I went through this procedure 5 times, but windows still failed to complete, always got to 57% then was aborted.
The laptop is still under warranty, so will have to phone Tosh, me thinks it could be the HD/Drive or the DVD player.

Any ideas.

Brian

Answer:Satellite A200-1TO - Recovery breaks up on 57%

Sounds really like an HDD malfunction.
You should definitely contact the ASP in your country for an notebook check.

If the recovery procedure fails and is not possible then a hardware issue is possible?

So ask the technician for the help. If the warranty is valid then everything should be done for free!

Bye and good luck mate

And the reovery disk came with XP. I have the key for Vista on the bottom of my laptop but i don't know how to get another copy of Vista business for the A200 to use...

Can anyone help with that..

That?s very strange? why you have received the Toshiba XP recovery CD and not Vista recovery CD ?:|

Usually if the notebook was preinstalled with Vista then you should get the Toshiba recovery CD with Vista OS.

I'm wondering if I got all discs with my Laptop Satellite A200-1CR, because i can't make heads or tails from the folders on the Recovery DVD. Where are all the Programs that I should get with the computer., and I had everything installed from the beginning. I want to re-install windows, but I am concern if I will have all the programs like: winDVD and Norton Security, and all the drivrers.
Thanks!

Answer:Is recovery DVD the only disc with Satellite A200-1CR

Hi

The Toshiba Recovery DVD is only the one disk which came with your notebook.
On this DVD you will find a Toshiba Recovery image which contains the Windows OS, drivers, tools and additional software.
If you want to set the notebook back to the factory settings then just boot from the Recovery disk and the installation will start.
But note; the Recovery DVD will format the whole HDD so if necessary backup the data.

The other software like Win DVD or Norton Security are OEM versions and therefore the are only on the Toshiba recovery DVD. It?s not possible to download it!

Hey,

As far as I know for older notebooks it?s not possible to order a recovery disk from Toshiba online.

For such older computers you have to order a disk from an authorized service provider. List of them you can find here:

Hi all,

my 6 year old Satellite A200-1YO has been replaced by a newer model and I was thinking of either wiping my A200 or resetting to factory settings.....

I don't have any disc's and as far as I can remember I never got any,

I've gone about resetting it by pressing F8 on start-up, going into Advanced Boot Options and
clicking Repair Computer,

I went into System Recovery Options, selected a keyboard layout and then onto the log in screen,

I then logged in with my password and got a screen showing the following 6 options;

1. Startup Repair
2. System Restore (similar to the option in the control panel)
3. Windows Complete PC Restore
4. Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
5. Command Prompt
6. Restoring The Complete Windows Operating System

I assumed no. 6 was for me but it seems to need a disc, (my DVD rom is not working but I have an external one that I can use)

I went into each other option but I'm at a loss,

I thought this was going to be easy looking at all the Youtube clips but they mostly advise pressing 0 (Zero) at start up which doesn't work for me.....

help.... please

thanks,
Rob.

Answer:Satellite A200-1Y0 recovery problem

Hi

How it works with HDD recovery you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

This will work if your notebook still hast original recovery image saved on HDD and notebook and you didn?t change HDD partitions structure. Described procedure is HDD recovery so you don't need any DVD disc. Recovery image must be saved on HDD (original ?factory settings).

I have Satellite laptop which I bought with Vista Home Basic recovery CD two years ago. Unfortunately, because of some viruses came up I had to format it and install windows XP. In same time I have lost the original CD recovery which is came with the laptop.

Later, I wanted to come back to the original CD recovery mode. I requested once on (Toshiba Europe Backup Media Online Shop) to get the original recovery CD and I have received from them the recovery CD based on my laptop model number.

Now, When I run the recovery CD and complete the formatting and insulation steps and turn on the laptop it will always hanging (stuck) in the black screen where windows Vista is loading

What is reason of this problem? Could this because the recovery CD was wrong? Or because I should do some steps before formatting the XP and installing Vista? How I can contact Toshiba Europe Backup Media Online Shop to get help?

Device name: A200-1CR

Hi To All,

I have here an A200 the owner said it just stopped working, it gives the "BOOTMGR is missing" message, it was running Vista basic. Vista recovery disk found no operating system (the recovery program wrote a couple of Notepad files on the drive which appear to be the only things on it) installing the drive in an external enclosure and trying it on another computer shows that the only files are the Notepad ones. A disk check program found a few bad sectors.

I intend to replace the drive, my question is what can I do re. the operating system, it had a legal copy of Vista, but came from Harvey Norman with no recovery disks (should disks have been supplied?) do I need to purchase a new copy of the operating system.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Answer:Satellite A200 - Recovery disk for HDD replacement

Hi,

Virtually all notebook manufacturers include the Recovery partition on the HDD, rather than supply physical discs these days.

There would have been an Icon on the Windows Desktop to create the Recovery Discs. Since the HDD is faulty, you need to order a Recovery Disc from the Toshiba Website, or phone their Call Center.

Hi

My daughter has a Satellite Pro A200 which seems to be dead, she must be trying to get a new one!!

When I try booting from the HDD Recovery repair windows I get the message "The installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer."

I have also tried booting from the CD/DVD drive with the Recovery disc and repair computer, at which point I get - a black screen with mouse cursor eventually leading to the same message as with the HDD Recovery approach

Given both fail is this likely to be HDD failure (I had a similar issue with my wifes Dell on boot up which was HDD failure)?

Thanks

Answer:Dead Satellite Pro A200 - Recovery Failure

Obviously something is wrong with preinstalled operating system and what you must do is to install operating system using Toshiba recovery image.

At first enter BIOS settings and be sure HDD is recognized properly.
Set BIOS to default settings and start recovery image installation:
Switch notebook ON and press F12 several times
When boot menu is shown put recovery disc in optical disc drive
Press ENTER and follow the menu on the screen.

If you will not be able to install recovery image it can be that HDD is the ?troublemaker?.
HDD replacement is not big deal and you can exchange it alone in 10 minutes only.

Hello,

First of all, I've got a A200 1BP Vista Home Premium and I lost the product recovery disc and I want to create one with Toshiba Product Recovery Disc Creator or Vista's "recdisc.exe".

They both failed as I had a message "No HDD Recovery Area!" which then I looked at the "Disc Management" section and couldn't find any unnamed partition.

There were two Primary Partition which were 1.46 GB "Healthy (EISA Configuration)" and my Vista (C:).
So what should I do? Can I create a recovery partition?
Or can I fix the Recovery Disc Creator? (v. 5.0.0.5)

PS: I recovered my computer many times with my CD, which probably used my recovery partition.
Seriously, I'm out of ideas and I don't wanna lose 50 bucks just to have another copy of PR Disc.

PS2: I used press "0" and "F8" thing too, they didn't work either.
Is there any way I can restore without any discs?

It looks like the HDD recovery partition is missing?
The first partition 1.46GB is created by Vista automatically and the C partition is the system partition? the HDD recovery partition does not seem to be available?

> PS: I recovered my computer many times with my CD, which probably used my recovery partition.
Did you recover the Vista using the Recover disk or what disk did you use???

If you installed the system using Vista Microsoft disk then this was a big mistake because this has deleted the HDD partition?

Hi.

Answer:Satellite A200 recovery does not work properly

Hi buddy,

does not sound very healthy ;). I think it would be the best when you clear the whole HDD, delete all partitions and repartition the HDD with that
wizard on the recovery DVD.

Then you can install Ubuntu on the other partition and it should run flawlessly, but be warned: don?t allow ubuntu to write the MBR of the HDD,
configure GRUB not loading from MBR.

I am trying to restore my Toshiba laptop Satellite A200-28P (Windows Vista Home) using the product recovery disk supplied with the laptop, no matter what I try to do I cannot get it to run, the only thing it will allow me to do is restore the laptop to an earlier date. I have full admin rights on the laptop, there are no virus's or any other malware on it, all this seems to have happened since it updated with windows vista about two days ago, have uninstalled the updates but that had no effect.

I cannot find the recovery console any where on the laptop yet I know it was there before. I have tried many of the solutions found on the web but none of them work. I did use the recovery disc about 2 1/2 years ago when the laptop crashed and it worked fine then.

Any help apprecited

Have you got recovery DVD only or you were also able to start HDD recovery installation using F8 at start up (Advanced boot options > Repair my computer)?

Hi,

I have a Toshiba A200 and have tried to recover to factory default settings using the supplied Toshiba recovery CDs. I can't get it to work...

At first the recovery seems to be working fine and it copies files from the first recovery CD (1of2). I then get a message "Please insert next media and press OK to continue" and the CD tray opens. When I insert the second CD (2of2), it spins as if trying to read, then opens the tray and again gives the message "Please insert next media and press OK to continue".

I thought perhaps it was a dodgy CD2, but when trying to recover from the hard drive partition without using the CDs (i.e. pressing 0 at start-up and following instructions for out-of-box state) I get the same message. Surely if I'm recovering from the HDD then I shouldn't have to insert any media?

I have tried this a number of times and get the same message. Also, sometimes after inserting CD2, I get the message "Error copying file or folder. Cannot copy PREINST001: Data Error (Cyclic redundancy check)."

I would be eternally grateful for any help on this one!

Hii!

Im thinking of upgrading to windows vista on my Satellite Pro A200-16N, and i've ran the windows vista upgrade checker from the microsoft website and it says my system will support windows vista so im ok on that.

The problem is, if my laptop were to break or something like that at some point, will my recovery CD's that was supplied from toshiba still work on the laptop with windows vista?
Will they return the laptop to windows xp or since my laptop has a different operating system will they not work?

Also...
Whats the deal with BIOS?:S
I dont understand!
If i were to upgrade to windows vista should i update my BIOS before or after upgrading to vista?
As i have to download the new drivers before upgrading yes?

Thanks!

Answer:Satellite Pro A200-16N: Can I use Recovery CD after upgrade to Vista

Of course the Recovery CD will work.
The Recovery CD will set always the notebook back to the factory settings. This means that the whole HDD will be formatted and the Toshiba image will be installed.

> Whats the deal with BIOS? I don?t understand!
> If i were to upgrade to windows vista should i update my BIOS before or after upgrading to vista?
In my knowledge this notebook was already delivered with Vista therefore you don?t need to update the BIOS if you want to install Vista again.

Some A200 Satellite series needs a BIOS update if you want to use the XP.
In such case it?s advisable to update the BIOS to XP version firstly and then to install X OS.

Hi,

I accidently deleted the 5Gb recovery partition on my Sat Pro A200. I have since recovered it (and the data inside) and have tried to create my recovery disks using the 'Recovery Disc Creator' but it is telling that it cannot find the recovery partition :(

I tried fishing through the ini files for the recovery disc creator to find where it looks for the partition, but couldnt find anything...

One thing i have noticed is that now it is recovered, it appears as an NTFS fs (i think before it was an Unknown FS type??) and has volume label 'HDDRECOVERY'.

Any ideas as to how i can either:

a) trick the recovery tool into using the recovered partition
b) make the partition look exactly like it did before i deleted it, so i can use the tool as is.

Would really appreciate any help - want to make those recovery disks for my vista ultimate before i go dicking around and whacking backtrack on it :)

Answer:Restore recovery partition on Satellite Pro A200

Hi

I wonder how you have restored the deleted partition. Possibly the recovery partition parameters are not the same as before and therefore the 'Recovery Disc Creator' doesn?t work correctly.

Unfortunately, in my opinion you will be not able to trick the recovery tool if the recovery partition cannot be found.
You can only rename the NTFS FS partition. This can be done in the disk management console.
But I don?t think that this will solve this issue.

It seems you will have to reinstall the whole OS again using the Toshiba Recovery CD or the original Microsoft Vista CD

I just bought the (Brand new from big tech shop) Satellite A200 for a few month and did not used because I was aways on business trip. Over the weekend I open it and running for a while.

1. When I click on "Recovery Disc Creator", a message is display "no HDD Recovery Area!, The toshiba Recovery Disc creator can not be lauched."

2. Then I call up the service support center and was advise that there is an issue with the "Recovery Disc Creator" and I should recover the LAPTOP using the recovery from hard disk partition (Hold 0 when power-up the system) and the following step is carry out:
a. the LAPTOP is boot into the recovery screen function.
b. When I try "restore windows PC" (option 3), it's display and error about file not found.
c. When I try click on "restore from recovery disk" (option 5), it's asking me to put in the recovery disc which I don't have?!?

Answer:Satellite A200 - Recovery Disk issues

Hi Thomas

I?ve got a A200 European model (don?t know what you model is) and the A200 was NOT equipped with the HDD recovery option!!! This means you cannot create your own Recovery Disk!!
My notebook was delivered with the Toshiba Vista recovery DVD!!

Fact is that your hidden partition 1.46 GB is not the Toshiba recovery partition but the Vista hidden partition. It contains the WinRE files which are helpful to repair the OS if something will go wrong!

Secondly the Toshiba recovery folder is too big for the 1.46 GB partition!!!
So it?s not possible that it would be placed on this partition!!!

So finally it seems that you will be not able to create the own recovery disk and therefore you will have to order it from the ASP in your country.

Can I replace it with another video card ?

Answer:Satellite A200-23J video card recovery

What do you mean by video card recovery?
Do you mean graphic card replacement/upgrade?

The notebooks graphic chip cannot be upgraded or replaced. It?s mostly a part of the motherboard and if something would go wrong with the graphic chip then you would need to replace the motherboard.

Hello. I hope someone can help me with the following... This week I've had various issues with my laptop following a Vista update that System Restore did not fix, so I decided to go for a full Product Recovery (as I have a full backup of all my files).

So far I have used product recovery on my laptop in each of the 3 ways I can see (and more than once): without changing settings, changing settings and maximising the partition, changing settings and selecting the advance / expert option.

Each time I was able to complete the initialisation of windows, creating a new user account, etc. Once the desktop has been set up, I get a small window with a progress bar and when this completes I click the 'restart' button...

After restarting I get to the black screen that says Microsoft Corporation with the green progress bar, but it stays there for what feels like 'too long'. After a while I get a black screen with a cursor and then a blue screen for a crash dump.

If I use F8 and start in Safe Mode, the system stops at the CplIR.sys file, although hard disk activity seems to continue. After 10+ minutes I switch off.

If I use F8 and then select Repair Computer... this is what happens with each option
- Restore the complete windows operating system: after clicking OK nothing happens.
- Memory diagnostics: there are no problems with the memory
- DOS prompt: I have run CHKDSK and there are no problems with the hard drive
- Startup Repair: there are no errors, although the ... Read more

Answer:Satellite A200 - can't use Vista after Product Recovery

Hello

It is very interesting story. I have recovered several notebooks many times but I have never noticed something like this.
I must say that all you have done right and you think in right way. If I were you I would try exactly the same steps to get it work somehow.
I don't know which ?various issues? you had before but I presume there issues were just ?software issues? and not relevant for hardware functionality.

It is really hard to say what the problem can be. What you can try is obtain somewhere Microsoft Vista installations disc and install ?naked? Vista to see if the same will happen again.
Anyway, the fact is that recovery images are tested and adapted for each notebook model and if the hardware is OK there is no reason for such behaviour.

Try with clean installation using Microsoft installations disc and let us know what happen exactly.

Hi,

My recovery DVD doesn't work... and have noticed this new download service and my question is...
Does this new recovery DVD come with the Vista SP1 allready installed? and does it come with the latest drivers and utilities?

Thanks

Answer:Does Recovery DVD for Satellite A200-21T include Vista SP1

Hello

I do not know for sure but I am pretty sure you get just copy. That means you got the same recovery as the original one. Original one is designed maybe a year ago and at this point SP1 was not available.
I think you have OS without SP1 and with drivers, tools and utilities that was available at this time.

When you install OS you can get info about version of each Toshiba utility and you can install latest versions. You can find it on Toshiba support page.

To be honest you do not need all this stuff. Important is Value Added package. Remove preinstalled one and install latest from Toshiba download page. I have done the same.

My laptop would not boot this morning, so I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart, I got the splash screen telling me to push F2 or F12, let it go and the laptop stopped at a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner.
I had done a backup two days ago, so decided it was time to do a factory restore and clean up the disk.
I shut it down, then pushed the 0 (zero) key and tapped the power button, as per the instructions. When it beeped, I let go of the button adn it now said:
A disk read error ocurred
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

And at the bottom is:

***** HDD RECOVERY MODE *****

I got this Satellite A200 PSAF0A-04X019 from a family member, who didn't create recovery disks when setting the laptop up.

Can I do anything to access the recovery partition and run a file manually, or is its beyond repair??

Answer:How to start recovery installation on Satellite A200?

If you cannot start HDD recovery installation on ?regular way? there is no other chance to have access to recovery image.
To be honest I don?t know what this error means exactly. I don?t know if there is some problem with HDD or recovery image.

What you can do now is to install own OS and later download all drivers, tools and utilities alone or try to contact Toshiba service provider and ask if they can order one recovery DVD for you.

Hello,

I had problems in booting Windows Vista. It does not run in any mode. When I try to recover (by pressing '0' at start screen nothing happens).
I have used my recovery disks to recover the operating system. They run for a while then a blank screen comes and it stops. Then I receive PXE: memory disk failure check the cable.

Finally with some trial and errors I could finally run the recovery disks, when I try to recover with factory settings it stops with disk 2 does not finish copying the files. Then I had to recover without recovery partition. After finishing I found it loaded Windows XP not Windows Vista. Where did Windows Vista go and how can recover it.

Please someone help me out with this issue.

People..

I need help.

I currently own a Satellite A200 and I contain the recovery disc. I got 2 harddisks, 1 with vista, 1 with all non install stuff like music. I want to formatt both disks with the recovery disk. I've formatted the C drive with vista before, but I dont remember how again.

I booted the notebook with the recovery disc, eventually came to the system repair mode.. but what's the next step? I must formatt and get the stuff to fabric settings.

Please help me

Answer:How To Formatt Satellite A200 With Recovery Disc

When you use recovery disc for operating system installation the first HDD will be formatted completely. That means all partitions and data will be gone. The second HDD can be formatted in Vista.

So now install OS again using recovery image.
Start your notebook and press F12 ? the bootable devices will be listed
Put the recovery media into optical disc drive
Choose CD/DVD on the list and press ENTER
Follow the menu on the screen (mostly you must press NEXT button)

When the OS installations is finished and you can start Vista, enter Windows Explorer (WIN+E key combination. Click on second HDD there with right mouse button and choose option ?Format...?.

That?s all!

Hi Experts,

As I have wrote before I divided my HDD 2nd partitions in to 2partitions.

Now I want to make a recovery DVD except the manufacturer provided DVD.

The reason I want that is the USER MANUAL says when we are restoring by the manufacturer Provided DVD it will FORMAT all the Partitions and revert the HDD to original state (When it come it has two partitions).

So now I'm trying to make a Recovery DVD to recover the notebook with out FORMATTING the second partitions.
I just want to format only the C drive and install the Vista OS and other manufacturer provided software.
Then the other drives will be safe and the data on those partitions will be safe.

I kindly request you to help me on this.

It's better if anybody can give me the instructions for that operation.

Hi,

_Satellite Pro A200 PSAE4E Windows XP_

I started getting bad “Not-Ready” system errors on the original ODD. Toshiba Disc Creator report: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H TO01. I tried the FW update, but that did not help.

I replaced the ODD with a new one from Amazon. Toshiba Disc Creator report: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H SC04. The new ODD is listed as suitable in the User Manual - it’s the same model as the original. The new ODD works perfectly for normal use within XP. But when I attempt to use the Recovery Disk, it is ignored and XP always boots from the HDD. And when I press F12 during boot, the new ODD is not listed.

Can you assist me to get the ODD recognised at boot time please?

Thanks.

Mike

Answer:Satellite Pro A200 - New ODD ignors the Recovery disk

Hello

Have you already tried loading the default settings in BIOS and is it recognized in BIOS setup? The BIOS defaults you can load if you go into BIOS, press F9 key and save & exit BIOS setup. Then restart the computer and try it again to boot from ODD.
Can you change the boot order and set the ODD as first boot device?

If it doesn?t help I would try a BIOS update. The newest BIOS can be downloaded on official Toshiba website.

But it?s really strange the drive works properly on XP but you can?t boot from it?

The Toshiba Vista Recovery CD will format the whole HDD and will erase everything from the HDD.

Hi

I have a Satellite Pro A200. It is running very slowly and sometimes it freezes up when I log on.
Also the homepage has been hijacked and I have tried several anti spyware programs and they have not worked.

I have the product recovery disc but the problem the DVD rom drive has stopped working.
The light is on but it will not open unless I use the manual release.
I have removed it and checked the connections but it seems o.k.

The DVD/CD rom has disappeared from the device manager and does not show up under hardware.
I have tried system restore but this also will not work.

Is there anyway you can use the product recovery software if you boot from a USB key?

I have tried restarting the computer and choosing boot from CD but it will not give me that option.
I have looked in the bios and the only boot options that it gives are harddrive, CD rom, land and FDD

No, this Toshiba Recovery disk cannot be copied to USB flash memory stick and used for OS installation. I?m afraid this would not work.

But if you?ve got an Microsoft Windows CD you should be able to create an bootable USB flash memory stick. In internet you will find many useful step by step instructions how to create such bootable USB stick.

But booting from USB flash memory stick should be definitely possible since the BIOS supports following bootable devices:
USB FDD, HDD, ODD, Network(LAN), USB Memory

Hi all, I would like to do a factory restore for my Satellite A200
I checked them harddisk and confirmed that the recovery partition is still here

When I hold 0 and turn on the laptop, rather than beep and the warning screen, it only takes me to the windows boot manager page
So I pressed F8 and choose repair computer, I read that I can also start the recovery process by choosing toshiba recovery wizard
But when I press the recovery wizard, the cdrom eject and tells me to put in the recovery CD (which I dont have)

What annoys me is that I checked that the recovery partition is there but I cant find a way to start the process
Anyone know the solution? Or there is another button to press when booting the machine?

After reformatting my laptop the toshiba recovery discs will not reload windows because it says i do not have enough room on my hard drive.

The error message is as follows:
There is not enough space on S3A6134D502. You need an additional 2.34 GB to copy these files.
S3A6134D502
Space free: 1.42 GB
Total size: 1.46 GB

It seems that it created a new partition that makes it not possible to load windows on because the partition is too small.

Answer:Recovery disc error on Satellite A200 - not enough space

Problem is that you have changed ?standard? settings for recovery procedure.
First partition on the HDD is so called ?WinRE? partition and this partition has 1,5 GB capacity.
When you start recovery procedure and just click on OK or NEXT everything will went well.

I presume you have chosen ?Setup? option and there clicked on second option to install OS on existing partition.

What you probably want to do is to install OS on partition C only in hope second or all other partitions will not be deleted or formatted. Right?
I have tested it several times on P200 and A200.

This will not work so only option is to erase whole HDD and before recovery installation starts all existing data and partitions will be deleted and formatted.
So before you start OS installation backup all important data and install OS without changing anything.

If the HDD is not recognized by BIOS nor by other notebooks, then I would say that your HDD is faulty.
In such case you have to replace the HDD.
In such case you will not be able to start the recovery procedure from HDD because it malfunctions as already said?

It is very unfortunate that after reinstalling the product recovery disc of my Satellite A200 the language now is in Deutsch. Since that I have to return the recovery disk to Toshiba Center for a replacement, do you think thank they will replace it with an English version? If so does it will affect the whole notebook in its performance or maybe some pre-instaled program might be gone or miss.

Do product recovery disc is standard for the same model unit since there is no product key requires?

Answer:Is the Product Recovery Disc for Satellite A200 standard?

Hi there,

first of all, if you purchased a english machine then you have a english recovery. If you have a german machine then you have a german recovery. Thats simple and easy, so please don?t tell me that you have bought a english machine and a german recovery because thats impossible. Even if you had a nearly complete english interface (the interface of windows can be configured)

If you?ve got an german version they won?t replace it with an english since thats no warranty issue nor any other problem.
The product recovery is not for every unit, the recovery you have for your machine is only intended for your machine and no other. The key is embedded in this OEM version of windows.

If I were you I would avoid installing some another recovery on my machine because THAT could affect your machine?s performance (except the same product recovery for your model but in english, this will work)

My computer was working OK. To speed it up, I decided to reformat the hard disk using the recovery DVD provided by Toshiba. The recovery failed. I have tried many many ways but keep having the same problem i.e. the process goes into a loop.

What happens can be summarized as follows: When I power-on the computer using the recovery DVD in disk drive, the computer goes into loading the windows files and then formats the hard disk, but stops about 18% through the progress. Everytime this happens the problem starts at (X:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe) where it is at ImageX Tools for Windows; and mentions that C:Program Files\Toshiba\HD2Go\sea160s_HD.wmv........WimCopyF ileEx failed. Other errors are: Error restoring image; The Drive is not ready; and ERROR: ImageX could not apply VISTA E:\05006XSP.swm Index 2 from ODD to C:\!; press any Key......And the screen goes white. There is another screen window when ithis happens, which says Administrator: X:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe open in DOS. After closing this window the Screen goes blank and the computer for while and then opens in a window called Windows Boot Manager, and says that windows failed to start, winload could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

If I try booting from the recovery HDD, there is no success. I tried powering the computer while pressing C, or pressing 0(zero) or F8, but no success. I can not go to the page where I can repair the HDD as mentioned in the users manual.

Can anyone please help me?
I used the Toshiba recovery disc yesterday and ended up with a far worse situation than I started with!
The process worked for about 15 minutes and then I got a message that the installation couldn't be completed due to corrupted files.

Great - I tried running the process again but it just came up with the same message straight away.
I then installed Windows7 so that I have an operating system & that seems to be working OK but, of course, I've lost all the drivers that came with the laptop.

Given the number of posts concerning problems with system recovery, I'm really surprised and disappointed that a company with the reputation of Toshiba seems unable to provide its customers with a reliable method of recovery.

Does anybody know if there is some way that I can reinstall the required drivers please?

I am not a very experienced user and I'm certainly not as young as I was so, if you are able to help, would you please explain it very simply!!

Answer:Satellite A200-1VP: Recovery installation couldn't be completed

Hi mate

First of all it?s really pity that you could not finish the recovery installation.
I have recovered my two different Toshiba notebooks and every time the recover ran properly and could be finished? so it?s definitely everything ok with the recover process and possibly damaged files were responsible for your issue?

However, I have installed also a fresh Win 7 on my A210 notebook and in most cases the Win 7 has recognized all devices automatically and I didn?t need to install all drivers.

But I installed VAP (value added package) and flash card support utility which I could download from Toshiba European driver page. But chosen the L500 series because I could not find the VAP and flash card support utility for A210. However, it worked.

Ohh? I forgot to say that I had to install the Bluetooth stack? I found this here:

It was brought to future shop as soon as the problem happened they said the motherboard needed to be replaced its $200+ and labour on top of that .... so i bought a new laptop. Now i want to fix this one because its pretty new and is a great laptop.

I took it apart and the great techs that know everything aparently dont know how tight to put screws. Many screws where ovfertightened and broke the tabs with the little nuts inside but i managed to crazy glue the pplastic tabs back, put it all together and all screws are tight again so far.
I checked everything over and over tried different ram, no ram, hdd, no hdd and the list goes on trying to narrow down what component was causing a problem.
I never got a beep or any signs of signal or power going to the screen when trying different ram and removing it.
I press the power and i get the blue power light on and the fan would turn on about half speed for seconds then stop no matter what i did to it.

Now i was ready to try doing a bios crisis recovery with a usb floppy drive.
When i held Fn+b and press the power button i got the purple light to go on, caps lock light went on with couple other green light on keyboard.

It is not easy to offer some precise diagnostic but I think there is serious hardware problem and you will not be able to fix it with this ?standard? procedure as BIOS repair or memory module/HDD exchange.

Long time ago I had similar problem on my Satellite M and in my case CPU was defective. After CPU exchange I was able to start notebook again. So maybe is the same problem on your notebook. Obtain used but well working CPU on eBay, exchange it and try to start your notebook.

So I have used Toshiba Product Recovery DVDs and after reinstalation system reboot. And now i have a "Startup Repair" massage, which is:

"If you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart the your computer. If you continue to to see this massage, contact..... bla, bla, bla. .... Click finish to exit and shut down your computer".

It's strange cos I have no device attached to my computer nor it was while recovering system.

After pressing "View diagnostics and repair details" another popup shows and it says, that all test "completed succesfully" (the last one is "Setup state check") and that

What i have to do now? I don't have any bootable Windows Vista DVD.

I bought a Satellite A200-QH0 model in Australia and due to lack of forums in our country I'd like to ask some questions here if that's ok.

The notebook contains 3 partitions - a 1.6GB "EISA Configuration" partition, the large OS partition, and the recovery partition. So I've made the recovery DVD???s using the Recovery Disc Creator tool as we aren't supplied with an actual disc. But I would like to know what these discs will do? My questions:

1. Will they truly return the hard drive back to _exactly_ how it was including the partition layout and pre-installed software?
2. Will the recovery DVDs work even if the drive has been repartioned? I would like to split the system partition to give space for data files etc. But will this extra partition stop the recovery procedure working properly?

Please understand that I'm not interested in reformatting the entire drive. I just want to split the OS partition. But in case I have to replace the drive in the future or something I'd like to know how close to "original" these discs will get me, no matter what I do to the drive?

Thanks,
Dave

Answer:Questions about recovery discs and partitioning Satellite A200-QH0

Hi

I?m not 100% sure how the recovery works on the Toshiba Australian notebooks but I presume the Recovery CD contains the Toshiba image with the Windows OS, drivers, tools and utilities.
I think if you would use the Recovery CD then the whole HDD will be formatted and all partitions will be erased.

I think the recovery partition will be not created using the recovery CD because the recovery CD was already created? so the recovery partition is not necessary anymore?

Hi I have a Satellite A200 that was delivered with a 'product recovery cd'. I recently have had an infection/trojan/spyware of some sort as the windows defender has been taken over by something other (plenty of abnormal error messaes and asking me to buy the full version). I am no expert but i surely know that windows defender is a free program.

Anyway, please could someone give me advice on the best way to overcome this. i.e. the best option to use. Is there anyway I can back up the files I have (apart from using an external HD drive).

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite A200 - How to use recovery disk and backup all files?

Hello

_How to use the recovery disk?_
That?s pretty easy: Insert the disk and boot from it ? That?s all!
Furthermore you have to follow the screen instructions and make some clicks but that?s really all!

_How to backup the files?_
First of all I?m wondering that you ask for that. You didn?t make a backup as yet? What do you do if your HDD crashes on next morning?

Anyway, the Toshiba recovery disk wipes your whole HDD. That means you have to save your files on an additional drive. Everything on the internal HDD will be deleted.

You don?t want to use an external HDD?! Why?

This is driving me mad.
I have two A200 laptops that were issued to staff. They have left and the laptops were completely OK.

Before I issue the laptops to new staff I format and re-install the operating system and software. Simple I thought, I have the recovery DVD. I rebooted with the DVD in gone through the process all seems to be well. It reboots into windows get to the first windows XP screen with the green dots just underneath. I then get a very quick flash of a blue screen and the laptop reboots and then keeps going through with the quick blue screen.
This happens on both A200 I have.

If I try and load windows XP from our retail copy of windows, it always says no disks can be detected. Again it happens on both. I hear you say-?its the hard drive?. Well it is not the hard drive. I have removed the drive placed it into another laptop and a PC installed windows and it runs as it should, this is both hard drives. With the hard drives in the original A200 laptops I can install Linux (unbuntu) without any errors. I run disk checks all is OK.
The Toshiba guys say it is a virus! Seems to be the answer to everything they cannot solve over the phone!

I love theses laptops, they have been very good for us here, would love to get them working again. They are two years old so out of warranty.
The BIOS version is 5.20
Any help would be great

Answer:Re: Satellite A200 - Recovery disk gives blue screen

hi,

It's a little bit difficult to say what happens to your laptops, but if i have such installation problems, I wipe hard disk with cd bootable media from Acronis, Acronis drive Cleanser

http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/drivecleanser/index.html

or East-Tec DisposeSecure

http://www.east-tec.com/download/index.htm

These software are shareware and need to be activated in order to make a bootable media.

I wipe a hard disk, then install original Windows copy for my clients. If they have problems with ODD, I make a bootable usb drive (if Bios supports) or over Lan installation. By the way, have you tried to install from a bootable usb flash drive.

Talking about viruses, it also can take place that's why the hdd wipe is recommended. In our service, we also answer like this by phone like Toshiba guys say. Believe me, it's not easy to solve problems by phone, the problem is that many customers can't describe malfunction properly!

Hi all,

I am having problem on running recovery wizard on my A200 laptop (OS:Vista).

I receive an error - "error: 08-104B-0000 Partition creation failed". I tried all the solutions provide from FAQ or "How To" page. Like http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/how-to/230, http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/how-to/95, http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/faq/71.

I have a copy of recovery DVDs with me, but i just keep receive the above error.
Please kindly to provide any possible solution.

Thanks a lot.

Answer:Satellite A200 - error while running recovery wizard

Hi

Looks like something is going wrong with the partitions on the HDD.
I recommend using an MS Windows XP disk or another bootable disk and to format the HDD firstly!
After that you could use the recovery disk again in order to reinstall the OS on this notebook.

I have Toshiba Satellite A200. Hard drive died and changed it to a new one.

If I buy the product recovery disc will it work and install windows vista home premium that came with the machine?

Answer:Satellite A200 - Recovery disk will install Windows?

Hi spiropi,

Yes, the Toshiba recovery disk will install the original operating system that came with the notebook. Toshiba recovery disk works always even you have changed the HDD. The disk contains an image of factory settings with all drivers and tools so everything will be installed automatically and you get out of box settings back.

So you can order such a disk and you can the original settings back on your new HDD. :)

So I lent my laptop to my daughter until she could get enough to buy a p.c.
Well I've gotten it back only she installed a lot of stuff on to the point where it's chugging on vista even after my attempts to clean it up I decided start the laptop by using the recovery disk creation that came with the laptop.

However now I have used about 8 dvd disks trying to create a good disk but i restart the p. with the disk in .. nothing happens. I try to run it directly through vista...and it says cannot read disk. I have recreated the disk several times and the same result and well this was the only type of recover disk that came with the laptop.]

Also as i have gotten it back when i use the touch pad my cursor is jumping all over the place, is that fixable?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A200 recovery disk creation problem + touch pad

Hello

Sorry but in your posting something must be wrong. As far as i know Satellite A200 is delivered with original Toshiba recovery DVD. You must not create anything. Newer notebooks like A300 are NOT delivered with recovery DVD and every notebook user must create it alone but not with Toshiba Disc Creator. For this purposes Toshiba offer another tool. The name is ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator?. It is not the same tool. So you should have probably original Toshiba disc.

So if you have it please use this recovery DVD as described in this thread:

I have a Sattelite Pro A200 lap top and would like to install 64bit Vista.
As i've read you can use the 32bit key to install the 62bit version. Is there a way to get the "Product Recovery Disk" in a 64bit version.

Or to download it from somewhere

Answer:Satellite Pro A200 How to get a 64bit Vista recovery disk from Toshiba

Hi

What OS was preinstalled on your notebook?
If it was a 32bit Vista OS then you can get ?only? a 32bit Vista Toshiba recovery CD.

If you want to install another OS, no matter if it?s XP or Vista 64bit, you have to buy the OS from Microsoft.

PS: As far as I know the serial key used for the Vista 32bit OS is only a OEM key and it does not work with other operating systems!

I have just purchased a Satellite Pro A200 lap-top, which was supplied with Product Recovery disks for both Vista and XP.
The Vista licence specifically also licences XP.
Can I set up a dual boot so that I can boot to either Vista or XP ? If so, how?

I would also like, as a third boot, Red Hat Linux 9.
Any comments ?

Answer:Satellite Pro A200: How to create Dual boot; Vista & XP using Recovery CD

Hmmm?. Usually it?s possible to use two or more operating systems on the computer but as far as I know the Toshiba Vista Recovery CD formats the whole HDD during the Vista installation and this will lead to losing of the installed OS's.
I?m not 100% sure about the XP Recovery CD? The newest CD called RECO doesn?t include expert mode which allows choosing between different partitions.

So I presume every usage of the Recovery CD will format the HDD and will erase the installed data. But of course you could try to install both OS and to check if the XP recovery CD allows choosing second portion for the OS installation.

If it will not function it seems that you will need either an original Microsoft XP CD or the original Vista CD to use both OS.

Hi there,

I am by no mean techologically minded, so please bear with me. My computer failed to start and I received a message saying that the boot had failed.

When I took it to my computer technician at university, he said that I will need the original disc that came with the computer as the hard drive is 'sick' and he will want to reinstall all the software. I cannot locate this disc for the life of me, and wondered if the media is downloadable or whether toshiba can provide a replacement. I'm in the UK but my laptop was bought in Canada new in Sept 2007. It is a A200 Satelite, 160gb, 2gig ram.

If anyone can help I would *really* appreciate it!

Thank you

i have tried booting from CD, Mem Stick and USB floppy with drivers from toshiba and realtek without any success, searches on google seem to point toward there needing to be a driver to interface with the cardbus / PCMCIA adapter - if this IS the case can anyone shed any light on the whereabouts of such a driver and how i could go about doing this?

Enter BIOS settings, set default settings and try to install Vista again. If the same happen again contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and explain the situation. I am pretty sure they can test it with other recovery CD or test it with other HDD.

Hello all,

I'd like to report about successfull recovery of corrupted bios on my Satellite A200-1CG (PSAE3E).
As many others i've downloaded a latest bios update for my notebook and started it under Windows 7 64 bit.

Actually i've only neded some informations from the bios update tool, but the update has started automatically
without a question. :( After serveral blocks has been updated the progress bar has stucked at one position.
In 2 minutes i've had only the completely freezed system. I've switched off the system manually, switched it on again, and...
my notebook was completely dead: black screen etc. and of course i was not able to boot into the Windows 7.

So for those, who is only planning to update the bios: DO NOT UPDATE BIOS ON SATELLITE UNDER WINDOWS! THE UPDATE MAY STUCK!

I've searched over the web a found a solution. With a specially created floppy disk and external usb floppy drive the problem can be eventually solved

I've tried the recovery procedure described there but it did not help. The earlier versions of phlash16.exe tool
where not able to restore the bios. I've heard that the floppy disk was constantly readed for about 2 minutes. After the recommended 5 min pause, I've switched the power of and then switched it on again and ... I've had the same blackness of the screen as before :(

The strange thing was that the latest version of the phlash16.exe tool also didn't work, but it was different to earlier version. If I've used the earli... Read more

Hi folks,

I have a new Satlellite A200 and it will not boot up. Tried running recovery CDs but no joy.
Could someone please tell me, if I selected

'Erase Hard Disk' then 'Delete all data and partitions from the hard disk'

would this also delete the computer's internal recovery partition?

I have the recovery CDs but as I said, they don't work and I was wondering if clearing the HDD completely then running the recovery from the HDD recovery partition would help.

Sorry if this is a basic question for you guys! I've read through hundreds of threads, but can't find a definitive answer.

Thanks in advance,

If you mean the hidden Vista WinRE partition then; YES

Hi.

I'm really not good in computers and things, but I'll try my best to describe the error in my laptop:

I have a Satellite A200 (with Vista) I bought about 4 months ago here in Australia. It has a virus last week, so I made the recovery disk on 2 brand new blank DVDs using the Recovery Disk Creator and the creating process ran smoothly with no glitches.

Straight afterwards, I ran the recovery disk in what I think is called the boot menu? Anyway, after a couple of minutes I kept getting an error message that has something to do with "Preinst.swm file". After a few times of clicking "continue" and seeing this same error message, clicking "skip", and running the 2nd DVD, an error message shows "Error: F3-F000-0008".

Now I'm assuming that the preinst.swm error message is due to probably a scratch in the recovery disk, or some fault in the DVDs that I used and not with the actual laptop itself. I just need confirmation from you guys about this.

I'm guessing the best way to go about is just to get another Vista recovery disk (from the shop I bought the laptop from) then? Or is there another way to solve this problem that I can do before heading off to the experts? I use this laptop for work so really - no laptop, no work done!

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A200: Recovery error - Preinst.swm file Error: F3-F000-0008

Really not easy to say why the recovery procedure does not work.
But for me one thing is clear.
If you have 2 recovery DVDs, you have to boot always from the first one!!!
If you will boot from wrong DVD, you will get always an error message.

In my knowledge the Toshiba notebooks for European market are delivered together with all necessary CDs/DVDs and the Recovery medium is always in the package.
I don?t know why Toshiba Australian didn?t send the Recovery DVD together with the notebook. Maybe the Recovery DVDs are simply to available and they provide only option for a recovery creating?. Who knows...

However, it?s worth to try contacting the authorized service provider in your country and to ask if you can order a new Recovery CD for you notebook.

Good luck and best regards

I have read the threads on this forum, but I didn't come up with an exact answer to my problem.

With my regular PC I got a Vista Installation Disk, that also serves as recovery disk (like the one one could make with XP). One of the more useful things is that when you boot from that disk you have an option to "repair" the system, meaning that all vital files (like the bootloader...) will be restored, but for the rest all existing data wil remain. This is extremely important when for example you install a dual boot with Linux, when often Vista refuses to boot and repairing the bootloader solves the problem. Of course it can easily and quickly fix all kind of other system problems as well.

My Toshiba laptop A200 (otherwise a wonderful machine), came with the Toshiba Product Recovery disk. From all I have read on the forum and from what it says on the disk itself, I understand that it only allows for a total re-install of the whole system, factory-set, wiping out your whole disk and all on it.

Does Toshiba really leave us without a "repair" "option ??
I find that quite amazing, since after all I paid for the Vista operating system, so why shouldn't I get the options I would have if I had an original Vista disk?

If all above I is right, it means that if I want to install a dual boot with Ubuntu and would get a bootloader problem, I would loose all my data, when I only have to repair the bootloader?? (An issue that with the "repair" o... Read more

Hey Yossi

I think you have misunderstood something!

You have received the Toshiba Recovery CD with the Toshiba image! The image contains the Vista OS, Toshiba drivers, tools, utilities and additional programs!

Please don?t compare this disk to the original Microsoft Vista CD and don?t mix it!!!

So using this disk you can set the notebook back to the factory settings!!!
This is very useful because this procedure takes about 10min only and you get the whole functioning OS with all drivers, tools, etc?

Please note that no all users and customers who buy such notebook are technicians and computer scientists ;) but simply newbie and such recovery possibility is always welcome!!!

?but the usage of this Recovery CD formats the whole HDD and erases all partitions.
Therefore it?s advisable to backup the data before using the recovery CD/DVD

Answer:Differences between Satellite A200-1YO & Satellite A200-244

Hi Duncan,

you cannot always rely on images on websites to dictate your shopping experience, as these websites may not have updated their pages in a while.

My suggestion would be to visit a retail store selling the computer model you are after and view the computers there (After making a note of the computer model number you wish to purchase).

However, for your purposes, A200 (last year's model) had a silver keyboard and the newer models (A300) have a glossy black keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I have an Equium Series A200-15I laptop. For reasons too long to describe here I do not have the master Restore DVD - it was not supplied with the product and after a lengthy period, was told that I would have to pay to obtain it. Not fair, but there you go!

My query is that the hidden partition on the notebook is still there and what I would like to know is that can I still recover my windows Vista environment by hitting the F8 key at start up and going through the recovery procedure screen without the Master DVD or do I definitely need this disc.

I am aware that all the media that comes with the DVD will not be available but that is not an issue.

Hope somebody can help

Best Regards

Answer:Do I actually need this recovery DVD - Equium A200-15I

Hello Seamus

To be honest I am little bit confused and at first I just want to clarify something. Older notebooks (A200 series) are delivered with recovery DVD and those notebooks do not have recovery image on HDD and you cannot install OS using ?Advanced boot options? (F8).

New notebook models like A300 are delivered without recovery media and recovery image is saved on the HDD and there is option to install OS without recovery DVD. The recovery image is saved on second partition in ?HDD Recovery? folder. HDD recovery can be done if this folder is not deleted.

If you want to have ?factory settings? again you need recovery image (DVD). You can also buy Microsoft Vista installations DVD and install your own OS. All drivers, tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba support page. Of course some additional software like Norton or WinDVD player are not downloadable.

There must be some compatibility problem. Usually HDDs up to 500GB are not problematic for old machines.
If possible try to install own OS version. When you can obtain Win7 32bit it would be great. Win7 32bit is supported for your machine and I believe it will run perfectly.

I am a noobie and posted this query across on the Equium area, so apologies for cross-posting. I bought an Equium A200-15i computer about a month ago. There was _no_ Recover CD in the box just the Windows Anytime upgrade disc. I contacted the store from which I purchased the computer to be told to bring in the computer and they would take details of it in order to create or order the disc. I did this and then was told that they would have to wait until "some guy" came in at the weekend that knew how to create these discs and to come back again then.

Because of the large distance involved in travelling, I was reluctant to make a second trip back to the store and suggested that if they take all the details from the computer now, they should be able to create this disc and then post it out to me. I still have not receive this disc at all. Now at the same time, the "tech guys" in the shop said that they believed I would not need a Master CD disc. Furthermore, they implied that it should be possible to create this disc myself at the time of first boot or from the windows environment itself. I don't recall that option being made available to me at that time and I can't find anything on the computer that would allow me to carry out such a task!

I am confused here. I know enough about computers to realise that you need a Master CD to recover a system in the event of a major Hard drive failure or simply just to wipe and re-start all over again!

unfortunately you won?t get a recovery CD replacement since you destroyed it by yourself. The other thing is that Toshiba doesn?t offer ISO images from their Recovery CD?s for free download because this would be like MIcrosoft would offer Windows Vista on a FTP for download.

You will have to contact an Authorized Service Partner and ask them if they could provide you with a recovery media.

Hi all,

I have Toshiba Equium A200-1V0.

I wanted to restore Vista back to factory settings and used the recovery disk - all seems to go fine, selected "no" to the add-on disk at the end, as I do not appear to have one. When the laptop rebooted it goes past the post screen and then blackness....nothing happens at all.

Now, I thought perhaps there was a hardware issue, so I tested this using a copy of Windows XP I have - installs fine, no problems whatsoever. I did notice that the recovery partition "Winre" was 1.5Gb in size and has 1.37Gb free. I assumed this would be full, it contains a file called "boot.sdi" and folder called "sources", in the "sources" folder there is a file called "boot.wim" and thats it, I'm not sure if this is right.

Either way, I can't get the thing to work with the recovery disk (Vista Home Premium) and there doesn't appear to be any hardware issues as XP is fine.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Equium A200-1V0 Won't boot after recovery

Try removing all the HDD partitions and run Recovery again.

you can use FDISK on a DOS boot disk ( www.bootdisk.com ) to remove the non-DOS partitions.

Answer:Equium A200 - need recovery disk

Hi

You can order the recovery disk from here:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

But I don?t know if the guys will ship the recovery disk to Canada.
You have to ask simply?

Otherwise you will need to find someone in UK who could send these disks back to you

Good luck

Hi,

i just wanted to know that on Equium A200-1V0 am i able to make recovery cd and dvd?
I just found this link ( http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/TSBs/ALL/-TSB001019.htm ) that if i choose option 3 does it mean you can do both recovery cds and recovery dvd. Does this recovery method apply to Equium A200-1V0?

Second thing is can anyone tell me what type of motherboard Equium A200-1V0 has, if possible with its specification.

Last thing. When was this model released?

Well i dont have this laptop but will be buying in the first week of New Year. Just doing a bit of research.

Help with this will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Answer:Equium A200-1V0: Is it possible to create a new Toshiba Recovery CD

Hi

Don?t think that you will be able to create a own Toshiba recovery CD.
In the Toshiba document you can see this info:

?Only those models that come with "Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility" (ie: Tecra A2)?

It looks like the Equium A200 was already delivered with the Toshiba recovery CD and you don?t need to create a new one.
The procedure described above applies to the Toshiba notebook which were delivered without the Recover CD

Best regards and Happy New Year ;)

Answer:Equium A200-1V0 - need help with system recovery installation

If I?m remembering well this old notebook was offered with Vista and recovery image was saved on second HDD partition in folder called ?HDDRecovery?.
Is this folder still available?
Original recovery disc can be created if notebook has ?factory settings?, preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator tool and recovery image saved on HDD.

Of course I don't know how it looks like with all this but you can try to find this Toshiba tool and check if recovery disc creation is possible. If not then you have a problem.

Generally speaking original recovery disc can be ordered on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx but I don't know if you can order it for this older notebook model. Check it out.
