Preferred Solution: Satellite L - How to create a recovery disk?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite L - How to create a recovery disk?

Sorry but why did you uninstall the recovery disk creator?

However, now you can’t create the recovery disk because you have uninstalled the program for creating the disk.

The only way I know is you use the HDD recovery option to reinstall your notebook. You can use this if you go to the advanced boot menu (F8 before Windows is booting), choose repair my computer and then select the Toshiba HDD recovery function.

Normally you get this message if you start your notebook at the first time:

+Important INFORMATION+
+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+
+and follow the menue instructions) or create a bootable Recovery Disc Medium for this purpose.+

+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+
+hat you are able to restore your computer to the original factory installed state, even if your computer+

I have looked all over the forums but cannot figure out how to create a factory recovery disk for my laptop. I know it's run from a partition on the HDD but I can't figure out how to access this partition. Should there be some sort of built in utility?

Thanks

Answer:Re: Satellite L355D - How do I create a recovery disk?

You can create recovery DVD disc only if your notebook has factory settings and preinstalled ?Toshiba recovery disc creator?.

Please check if you can find this tool under start > all programs > Toshiba. There you should find shortcut to start this utility.

How can i produce my own system recovery disk?
The windows system keeps asking for a floppy disk system which i haven't got

Any advise?

Answer:Satellite L350: How can I create my own Recovery disk

Hi

I don?t know what you mean exactly?
You can create an own Toshiba Recovery disk using the Toshiba Recovery Disk creator software.
Its preinstalled on your notebook and after the successful creation of the Recovery disk you could use it for the OS installation.

The Toshiba Recovery disk will NOT ask you for a floppy disk!!!

I have notebook Toshiba L655-11Z with Windows 7 Home preinstaled.
There is reminder which tell me every 4 days to make Recovery DVD by Toshiba Recovery Media Creator... I want to do that but I have problem with this.

When I start Toshiba Recovery Media Creator it suddenly ends with error:

It is not possible to find HDD Recovery file in second partition of first HDD.
There is no suitable enviroment for recovery HDD.

Is is translation from czech, it should be little different in english.

I did not change anything or erase anything.
There is still everything fine with laptop same as it was new, but I want to have something if things go wrong...

Please help me with this issue.
I find similar problem in forum, but it was not solved because conversation go different way...

Answer:Satellite L655-11Z: I cannot create recovery disk

>It is not possible to find HDD Recovery file in second partition of first HDD.
> There is no suitable enviroment for recovery HDD.
>Is is translation from czech, it should be little different in english.

So it looks a little bit like the HDD image files are not available on the HDD?
That?s strange because if the notebook is new, the HDD image should not be affected?
Are you able to recover the notebook using the HDD recovery option?

Try that:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

If this would not work and if the recover creation tool will not be able to create a recovery disk, then you would need to order such disk from here:

Hi, I have tried to create the back-up recovery disks for my new P300-1CN, but I keep getting a power callibration error (Error code: 0E01B5-26-00037304) when the progress gets 50% along the first 'current disk' bar and 25% along the 'Total Progress' bar.

I've now tried 3 times and exactly the same thing happens each time.

I have power cable in, power on and a full battery.

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite P300-1CN - Can't create the recovery disk

Hi!

Have you tried disks from different manufactures? I prefer to use Verbatim DVD-R disks and sometimes TDK disks.
Check this!

Furthermore on the Toshiba website I can find some firmware updates for the CD/DVD drive. Check if you have such a drive and update the firmware.

I have a Satellite L305-S5917.

Yesterday I tried to create recovery disk with recovery disk creator, and then when I put a DVD+R, it said "Another application is using this drive or no recordable disk drives are recognized on your PC. Please check the drive condition. (Error code: 0D00E4-F0-00000000)."
I also try with DVD-R but I didn't work too. Anybody tell me what's wrong with my laptop and how can I create recovery disk.

Thanks

Answer:Satellite L305-S5917 can not create recovery disk

Hello

This error message is not known to me.
Have you installed some application for CD/DVD burning like Nero?

Maybe some application agent is running in the background and optical disc drive is permanent in monitoring status. Restart your notebook, check background activities and be sure nothing can be responsible for this ?drive blocking?.
Is the ODD properly recognized in device manager?

One more thing: for recovery media creation I recommend you to use high quality DVD-R medias.
I had best experience with TDK and Verbatim.

I have a similar problem. I have a Satellite R630-13T and am trying to use the Toshiba recovery Media creator to create 2 DVD restore discs.

When trying to create the first disk I get the following message:

Failed to read the following file.
E:\Boot\fonts\chs_boot.ttf
(Error Code: 020150-20-00000000).

I get a similar message when trying to create the second. I have tried four times. On my last attempt I disabled the real-time protection on my virus checker (Windows Security Essentials) - I don't know how to shut it down completely, not sure you can. I also turned wireless and bluetooth off.

I need to create these disks please. I am using Scratch resistant Philips DVD+RW 4.7GB 120Min 1-4x Speed disks.

I know someone else has mentioned to try another type of disk but i have only just bought these ones for this purpose and don't really want to buy more if I can help it. Surely the type of disk isn't a problem? When I look at the disks in the drive they have files on them - even the file that the error message above says it couldn't read.

Thanks
Ian

Answer:Satellite R630-13T: Failed to create Recovery disk

I had similar experiences in the past and I can say that after several tests using different media types I was able to create recovery discs using DVD-R media only.

Hey buddy two empty discs are really not expensive so don't waste your time here waiting for some solution and buy two or three empty DVD-R discs and create recovery media.
One more tip: don't buy some cheap stuf but high quality Verbatim or TDK discs.

And also if i m having another same model machine, then can i use its recovery disk in the other machine having same model and OS.???
because right now I have two same toshiba machines model is Satellite L300-190.

Waiting for your response.

Answer:How to create Recovery disk using installed Vista - Satellite L300-190

I think this theme has been discussed a lot of time here in the forum.

You can create the Recovery disk using the Toshiba Recovery disk creator!
This tool should be preinstalled on your notebook if the notebook has been equipped with the HDD recovery option.

You could also try to restore the notebook using the HDD recovery option.
You have to press the F8 while notebook powering up and then have to choose the option called ?Repair my Computer?. Then new window should open and there you could choose the Toshiba recovery.

If you are unable to use the both procedures (HDD recovery and Toshibas recovery disk) then you could order the new disk from here:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

That?s all

I have exactly the same problem with calibration when trying to create a recovery disk on Maxell DVD+R media. I tryed 2 different DVDs twice each with the same error. Then I burned one of them on my desktop PC without any problems. When I tried an Emtec DVD+R media on the laptop it burned successfully.
The laptop is Satellite U500-17F with Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ862AS. This is an incompatibility of Mat****a drives with Maxell DVDs and should be fixed with a firmware update but Mat****a do not have such.

I just received my new A300-1A8 laptop today and as recommended in the manual I tried to create the Vista recovery disks using the pre-installed Recovery Disk program. I successfully created Disk 1, however when I tried to create Disk 2, it worked for a bit and then I received an error:-

File Could not Be Found:-

F:\06477XSP5.SWM

Error Code:-

Any help on resolving this, as Iif I can't create the disk, looks like I may have to return it...

Apologies if this has been answered previously, quite new to all this.

Many thanks.

Hi all,

I have a 13inch Satellite U400.
Due to problems with my Softkeys, illumination and hibernate status (any help on thos would be useful too) I want to create a recovery DVD with the Toshiba recovery disc creator.

The thing is: it starts when I have a CD-Rom in the DVD drive, but as soon as I put a DVD in (which is required) it gives me an errormessage that says something like " A different application uses this drive or no recording drives where found in the laptop. Error code 0D00E4-F0-00000000).

My DVD-drive is working properly, I can play movies and the drivers and status is ok too.
I have noticed, that the errorcode changes, but I don't know how to get the recovery disk creator going.

What can I do? Change something in the registry?
I don't know what happened to my notebook, I bought it a couple of months ago - new. I guess, resetting everything would bring my softkeys, illumination and hibernate status back.

So, if anyone nows how to work at least one of the problems out, please give me advice.

Thanks in advance,

wiglip

Answer:Satellite U400 - unable to create recovery disk - bad DVD-drive?

Hi

Did you create virtual CD/DVD drives with such special software? If yes, remove the software completely. Furthermore if you have installed burning programs you should check if they will started on Windows start up and if yes, disable the start up. Therefore go to start > run > msconfig > start up. There you can disable the start up of the burning programs (for example Nero, CD Burner XP, etc.).

And what DVDs do you use for burning? I have good experience with Verbatim DVD-R and TDK disks. These are high quality disks and you should try it too!

Last but not least you should remove the upper and lower filters in registry. This is always advisable with problems of the CD/DVD drive:
1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
4) Reboot.

According your problem with the illumination keys you should try to reinstall the Toshiba Value Added Package. This controls the illumination buttons, FN keys and other special function on your notebook. I had a similar issue with illumination buttons my Qosmio F50 and I posted something about this in the Qosmio forum that you should try it too!!!

I have been trying to create recovery discs for my new L300 but after few minutes the programme stops and getting error Messages (not matching boot.wim). Again I tried to create through other branded DVDs like Philips DVD-R, Imation DVD-R, Sony DVD+-R etc.
Can you please help on this?

I cannot find the Verbatim and TDK DVDs in our nearest market for trying those brands too.

Answer:Satellite L300 - Error message if I try to create a recovery disk

Hi!

I have a Satellite L300 too and didn?t have any problems to create the Toshiba recovery disk. I used a Verbatim DVD-R media and generally I made the best experience with these DVD manufacture and DVD-R types.

In your case I would try this DVD media or the TDK DVD-R disks. If you can?t find it on the nearest computer store you can also order it online. Have a look on Amazon or eBay, there you can order such medias.
It?s worth a try! ;)

I have a new Toshiba Satellite A300-1QM Vista and now i want to run Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator
For this i need to deactivate the preinstalled McAfee Internet Security Suite
But how?

On my other computers i run Zonealarm and kaspersky there i have exit in the right mouse click on task bar icon pop up
but i cant find it in the McAfee Internet Security Suite

thanks in advance

Answer:How to exit mcafee on Satellite A300 to create Recovery disk

Hi

Please check if the McAfee Internet Security Suite loads automatically at the beginning.
You can check this in MSCONFIG.

Start the msconfig and check the ?Startup? tab.
There you could disable this tool and could reboot the notebook in order to check if the McAfee Internet Security Suite would still run in the background?

Hi all,

I just bought an L300 model number PSLB0C 08R08C.
I was unable to create a recovery disk, I was getting error message saying it can't create the disk because it's scratched or has dirt on it, I wasted 5 brand new DVDs.

I went to the store and replaced it with another unit, but got the same problem (I have not tried another DVD brand though)

Second issue with this unit, the screen flickers once every time it comes back from an off state.
3rd issue, the wireless card disappears from the device manager, until I restart.
Laptop was made in China ;-)

Any suggestions are much apprecaited

Answer:Screen flickers on Satellite L300 and I'm unable to create a recovery disk

Hi there,

that is indeed strange that you were unable to create a recovery disk, and that the problem recurred even after swapping the laptop with another unit from the store. however, if you have not tried another DVD brand then i would suggest doing this if the laptop is claiming the disk is scratched or has dirt on it. i am unsure if toshiba actually manufactures blank DVD's but if they do, this would be a starting point, as it would be expected toshiba hardware would work happily with their own branded DVD media. however, if you cannot find toshiba dvd then use another trusted brand, e.g. Imation or TDK. with my experience, i have tried many brands of DVD's and have found TDK to be very reliable.

with regards to the second issue, this may be related to the graphics card in the system, or could be due to the performance of the laptop itself. check that you have the latest driver for your graphics card and that all computer settings are optimised/hard drives are defragmented and junk files removed. with your third issue, this issue could also be related to driver problems, again check your regional toshiba drivers website for the latest drivers. failing this, i would suggest backing up your data and then restoring back to a factory state, then installing updated drivers immediately. i hope this info can help you in some way.

Hi there,

I have laptop P840 which came pre-installed with Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro.
I then updated to Windows 8.1 Pro through Windows store. Please advise:

1. How to create a repair or boot DVD for windows 8.1 pro with UEFI Bios and secure boot.

2. I have created one recovery USB using the control panel in Windows 8.1 Pro. It boots OK. Will this the same as the one I created using Toshiba Media recovery creator or will it have Windows 8.1 Pro drivers?

3. On check with disk management, there 3 recovery partitions (450 MB, 350 MB and 10.90 GB), 1 EFI system partition and 2 primary partitions (C: for programs and D: for data). I have created recovery DVD's and 2 USB drives. Can I delete the 3 recovery partitions?

Your assistance will be highly appreciated.

Best regards,

Answer:Satellite P840: How to create recovery disk with UEFI Bios and secure boot

I found your previous thread about this theme:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=74272

> 1. How to create a repair or boot DVD for windows 8.1 pro with UEFI Bios and secure boot.
In order to be able to boot from other sources than internal HDD, the boot mode has to be set to CSM and secure boot needs to be disabled!

> 2. I have created one recovery USB using the control panel in Windows 8.1 Pro. It boots OK. Will this the same as the one I created using Toshiba Media recovery creator or will it have Windows 8.1 Pro drivers?

Your notebook was preinstalled with Win 8. Right? So the USB flash memory stick which you created using the Toshiba Recovery media creator contains the Toshiba Image with Windows 8. Don?t mix this Toshiba image with the image which can be created using the Microsoft own backup and restore function! Both are different images!

The last partition contains the HDD recovery files. Usually this partition will be created again when you use the Toshiba recovery disk in order to set the notebook back to factory settings. So in case you don?t need this files or partition, you can delete it

I hope this is the right place to post this, but I think I have the same problem with my Satellite C650. It keeps wasting DVDs by stopping and saying that it cannot read file E:\ZZlmg\11544XSP.swm and gives an error code 020150-20-00000000. The file is on the DVD. I am using Verbatim DVD-R The Recovery Media Creator is trying to write the first disc and is at the point of verifying the data. Can you think of another explanation for this error other than the cheap DVD option? Thanks

Answer:Satellite C650 - Cannot create Recovery disk - error code 020150-20-00000000

Hi

There are two explanations;
Either the CD/DVD drive firmware is not up to date and does not contain any information about the used disks of the disks (CD or DVD) is not fully compatible.
As you know this happens and is not unusual.

So first of all check if an firmware update is available for your CD/DVD drive.
The Toshiba European driver page is the right place to look for that.
In more info you will find detail if the firmware has been released for your ODD.

If there is no firmware update for your CD/DVD drive, then you should test other disks?

There are discussions on creating recovery disks with OneKey Recovery 7.0. But my G500 is  with win8.1 and Onekey 8.0. I didn't see it support creating CDs. And when I tried to create such a recovery image, OneKey 8.0 said it needs 90G space. It looks like OneKey will backup all files from my C disk. I just want to create factory recovery disks, in case the HDD failed. Can anyone tell me how to create such disks? I have ORK 6.0 preinstalled and I created a backup as soon as I bought the machine. The backup worked fine but I can not create recovery disks since the combo box where you are supposed to chose the drive where the backup will be copied is empty. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Answer:S10 - One Key Recovery - Select Drive combo box is empty when I try to create a recovery disk

To create recovery disks, you need an optical drive capable of writing to either CD or DVD media [depending on which method you are using]. I don't  think the S10 has an optical drive so you are left with two options. 1) Connect an USB CD or DVD writer and create the recovery disks. 2) Use VirtualCD to create a virtual CD/DVD writer to which you can write your recovery disks and then transfer to another computer I would actually recommend that after you have created recovery disks, that you look into creating a recovery USB instead of having to carry an USB optical drive with you all the time. Since the recovery disk is based off of Windows PE 2.0, you can do step 3 in this article to make your USB flash drive bootable. Then copy all the files on the recovery disk to the USB. If you use max compression when creating the backup, you can get away with using a 4GB flash drive.

Hi and welcome,
One way is to save a recover set ... with OKR ... or better do this Backup before  ...but no way to get a  pure Windows 7 Install Disc if you mention this  ...

And Windows 7 64 Bit will not run on Atom based machine.. i.e. S10/S10e/S10-2 ,S12 Intel/Nvidia ...
(and even when, it lacks of memory 2GB (due the intel chipset restrictions) is good for 32 Bit based systems, but not really enough for 64 Bit based systems, so there is no benefit for use a 64bit on a netbook)

Hello, I never created recovery disks when I purchased my T60 over three years ago.  I regret that. Now I am wondering if it is possible to do so.  When I launch Create Recover Media (rrmedia.exe), it crashes immediately:AppName: rrmedia.exeAppVer: 1.0.0.1ModName: unknownModVer: 0.0.0.0Offset: 0018089aEventID: 1000 I cannot request recovery disks from Lenovo, because my system is out of warranty now. So I think it is either it is impossible to use rrmedia.exe at this point (since in the meantime, I've upgraded to XP SP3, etc) or I need to upgrade or reinstall Rescue and Recovery.  However, trying the latter opens up a can of worms: 1) Rescue and Recovery shows version 3.01.0037.  Running system update to patch to 3.01.0042 fails: "A later version of 'Rescue and Recovery - Client Security Solution' is already installed on this machine.  The setup cannot continue." 2) When I try to uninstall RR from Add/Remove programs, it fails: "Another version of this product is already installed.  Installation of this version cannot continue.  To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel" 3) When I try to upgrade to the latest 4.xx, it says I must first uninstall the current version, which from the above, I cannot do. So the machine is confused as to which version it has, and it won't let me upgrade, uninstall, or reinstall. In summary:&... Hi,

I have a Satellite U400 (few years old), and I never created the recovery DVD.
Now I want to do it, but for some reasons, when I launch Toshiba recovery disc creator, nothing happens...
The partition with the recovery files is there, as well as the folder HDDRecovery. I did add some files to this partition, could this be the problem ?

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Satellite U400 Impossible to create recovery DVD with Recovery disc creator

No. if you didn?t change partitions structure this should not be the problem.

Question is: does Toshiba recovery disc creator start or not? If you cannot star this tool it has nothing to do with recovery files.
Can you find this file - C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator\TRORDCLauncher.exe ?

Hello, I've used the recovery media creator to create a USB flash drive recovery media.

If i then use that to restore the Windows 7 installation onto a new hard drive (as SSD) will that drive itself have the recovery media partition on it?

So if I then lose the USB stick could I restore again by holding down zero when powering on?

Or does it recover the Windows partition and nothing more?

Thank you

I recently bought a Satellite Pro L850-1UJ with Windows 8
http://www.toshiba.co.uk/laptops/satellite-pro/l850/satellite-pro-l850-1uj/

I've created a new partition (so i could use it as data room)
i.e. C: the windows system AND Z: my data

after that, i could NOT use the RECOVERY MEDIA CREATOR to create the recovery dvds
BUT the partition still exists and i can see the inside files from windows

IS IT a way to extract the files from the recovery partition or any other clue how i could fix the partition scheme so the RECOVERY MEDIA CREATOR could recognize it

Many thanks for your time...

Answer:Satellite Pro L850-1UJ: How create recovery DVDs from recovery partition

After changing HDD partitions structure it happens that ?Toshiba recovery media creator? cannot find recovery files. These files are marked with special markers that in your case cannot be found anymore.

I?m afraid now is too late to do or change anything. You are not the first one with this problem. We always write here that first step should be recovery media creation and later you can do whatever you want. You can even delete it.

Now you can just order new recovery disc at https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

I just purchased a new Toshiba laptop preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium OEM. Apparently as of Windows Vista Microsoft in it's ingenious asinine have decided to stop giving out dvd's and cds for operating systems. I've seen briefly something about a custom Toshiba application on the laptop to make a 'recovery' disk.Whats the differance between a recovery disk and a windows 7 install Disk? How would I go about making both? Any help would be greatly appreciated!Regards!

Answer:Create Install Disk? / Make Recovery Disk?

The differences in OEM recovery disks and a full Windows installation disk is that the former can only be used to restore that particular model of computer while the latter will install on any computer with compatible hardware.I don't know the exact procedure you need to use to create the disks but it should be spelled out in your manual and possibly even on your start up screens.Be aware that those disks will be created from data on a partition already on your hard drive. That partition can also be used to restore to factory settings. The primary reason to make the restore set is to have the means to restore in the event your hard drive fails. I advise you to make those disks ASAP and make copies of them too. You will only get one bite of the apple. That is to say you are only allowed to create ONE restore set. The process won't work after one set has been made.

I want to create a recovery disk for my edge 13 which has no internal disk writer.Alas Rescue & Recovery does not offer to create a recovery ISO which I then could burn on another computer.I have an external DVD drive but no writer. So I would be able to boot from a recovery CD if I could create one.I inserted an USB stick and Rescue and Recovery could write to it but from my experience USB sticks get lost or overwritten easily so I prefer a CD as a recovery media. Thus my question is:Is there a way to make a recovery CD from the bootable USB stick or maybe create a recovery disk ISO with R&R?Or can I simply burn the stick as a data CD? ADD ON:I just tried to test boot from the created recovery USB stick but it did not workI was able to select the USB stick at the F12 prompt but the screen stays just blank with a underline cursor in the upper left corner. After 2 minutes I gave up and booted normally again so I still don't have a recovery media.

Hello! Thank you for looking at this. I'm going to be as succint as possible, but there are a lot of things to be mentioned:
Main Problem:
Error message on windows startup(The message was not in english, can't paste it). The error message says that it was not possible to load the OS because there's a file missing, or it is corrupted.
Error Code: 0xc0000225
File: \WINDOWS\system32\winload.exe
Possible solutions:
Recover system.
Secondary problem:
My laptop has no dvd drive.
The disk had a recovery partition, but apparently that is not available either, because I can't find a 'recover' option on boot options.
I have the Recovery Disk, another windows laptop with dvd drive, and I have an USB drive which I can use to boot the recovery. I need to know how to create an usb to recover windows, using the recovery disk. What I find online are ways to create that usb resorting to the recovery partition, not the disk.
Besides this, I would like to know if booting the Windows Recovery deletes the files, or if there's some possibility of that to happen. In that case, since I don't have a backup (I thought I had, but apparently it wasn't working properly), I also want to know whether it is possible to access the files first, to create a backup, before messing further with the system.
Context (and further question):
The error happened after I tried to install Linux on a secondary partition.
In Windows, I created the free space by shrinking the (bigger) partition. Formated a bootable usb t... Read more

Hi bought a new laptop a couple of weeks ago. Get message after start up to prompt me to make recovery disk. It says to do this press F8 on boot up. So, when I turn my laptop on should I just press F8 before the windows screen appears? Will it then ask me to insert blank the disks? Just a little worried I may do something to harm my computer on boot up! I have bought the Amilo Fujitsu 2515 if that helps with answers. thanks

Answer:How to create a recovery disk?

When you switch on start tapping F8 before windows loads. You should then be confronted with a menu, which will presumably have the option to create a recovery DVD. You cannot do any harm.

Last night I had a scare: after running Periform's CC Registry Cleaner, and restarting the computer, I ran into problems.

I kept getting a message to use Start Up Repair, and it took forever, going through various start up repair menus before I finally got the desk top back up.

I realize I seriously need to create a Recovery disk for just in case. . . .

Can someone please tell me, step by step, how I go about this???

Almost all my personal stuff is on three external hard drives, so mostly program files are on the C drive. There is a D drive (partitioned off from the C drive?), which I thought was a back up, but now I am not so sure. . . .

Also, can I put the Recovery files on a USB drive, instead of a disk??? If fact, I should probably create two Recovery sets of files on two separate USB drives????

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Answer:How to create a Recovery disk????

I thought I should see what exactly is on Drive D. I went to My Computer, and selected the D drive, and the information appeared that is pictured the screenshot below.

But how does this help me if I can not get the computer to restart correctly????? If I can't get Drive C to reload, then I presume that I can not go to My Computer, and select Drive D for the Recovery info. ????

Exactly how does this work if my computer crashes????

Hi,

I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite laptop M300/700, and Tried to create Recovery Disks (4 DVD)
I have managed to create DVD 1,3 & 4 with No Problem, But Could not created DVD 2 .
I have tried to so many times and all failed after approximately 10 mins run, I always got same error messages as below :

"The following issue occured while recording data to the disc,
the current pprocess will be stopped.
A power calibration area error occured.
Please check if the disc is scratched or dirty.
If so please try again with new disc.

(Error Code: 0E01B5-26-00037304) "

I have searched the Google to solve this issue then it worked after I used -R format
some reason it was not working with +R DVD (all TDK Gold brand ).

I have used many laptops never had this type of problem.

What does this mean, Is Recovery Program Faulty, or is DVD burner faulty?

Thanks for your help

Answer:Could not Create Recovery DISK 2

Hello

It is not easy to say what is wrong there. I presume this can happen because of Toshiba recovery disc creator. I don't know where you bought this notebook but there is some difference between recovery systems in Europe, Australia or US but I also presume Toshiba recovery disc creator is same for all Toshiba notebooks worldwide.

So if you have created recovery medias using DVD-R medias it is OK and take care about them. You can use them for further Vista installation. To be honest I use DVD-R media only. Somehow I don't like + format.

What you can do is to use some third part software like Nero and test if this will work with DVD+R/RW medias.

>I have used many laptops never had this type of problem.
Sorry but we are discussing about Toshiba recovery disc creator and this software is probably not available on all these laptops you?ve had in the past. If you have noticed this issue with Toshiba tool it doesn?t mean some other burning application cannot handle with DVD+r/RW medias.

Please test it and let us know how it works.

Bye

first let me say neither is a system recovery disk ,system recovery disk is used to reload computer to what it was like when it came from the factory .

system image is image of windows and all software and data you installed after getting the computer ,and will require more that one disk ,when you click to created it it will tell you how big and how many disk it will take to make the image [my own if i were to make image would be 54 gigs ,so about 14 single sided dvds ]the repair disk to used to try and repair excising windows os.
not all computer come with the options to make a system recovery disk ,and most that do one give the option to make it once .knowing the make and model will help ,good luck

When I bought my laptop, I was too excited to get it powered up and didn't really read the handbook. Is it too late to create a recovery disk now, even though all these applications are installed and will creating it now make it so all settings are from the factory? What I'm trying to say is, if I create it now will it be like the system restore where everything is saved from the point or creation or will it be like if I just unpackage the laptop, and boot it up for the first time. Another thing, its about system restore, is there a folder where all the saved points are located? If I wanted to manually deleted some points instead of having to turn it off and loose all the points, is it possible? To use a recovery disk, does the cpu have to be reformatted, or do I just insert the cd into the drive and start up the computer? What about wireless, after the recovery has been done, will that have to be installed again and will all disk space be recovered?

Answer:Is it too late to create a recovery disk?

Howdy maxima2k2 ,

No it is not too late to make a recovery disc..
As far as System restore, just go into it and move the slider to the left and it will auto delete some of the points..

When I purchased my HP Envy x360, i7-7500U, WIN10 two days ago, I was told by the sales rep that I do not need to create a recovery disk as this particular notebook pc has a  Drive D (Recovery) nor would it be necessary to create a mirror image of the OS.  I am a bit hesitant and confused as I have always done this with all my desktops and laptops in the past.   I will, however, do weekly backups to an external portable Seagate backup drive.  Will that method ensure that I will be able to "resurrect", recover my Envy x360 from the external backup  should I not be able to start it/boot it.   Just lost a 4-year old Toshiba Win10 OS two days ago - not bootable and totally dead.  Unable to resurrect/charge even with a new universal AC adapter/charger.  Sad news.  This HP Envy is it's replacement.  I would appreciate any help with and input to my concern.

Answer:Necessity to Create a Recovery Disk?

I do not understand sales reps telling people they do not need to create Recovery Media! Other than pure ignorance to the fact of possibilty of file corruption in the recovery partition -or failure of the hard drive which haas the recovery partition on it. If the hard drive fails, the recovery function dies with it. By all means create your Recovery Media and if you are back in that store inform them or the sales rep of this erroneous advice to customers. Many people will simply take it as solid info.

For systems preloaded with Windows 8 (or Windows 8.1), the process of creating a recovery media is via a usb flashdrive (at least 16GB in capacity).

I have always used the built in windows 7 backup rather than HP's recovery (that's my preference) - Backup User and System Files

Here is a good guide that gregrocker put together regarding bloatware - Clean Up Factory Bloatware

Hope this helps,

Regards,

I recently bought an NB200-10Z.
I want to make a recovery disk but I have no external CD/DVD recorder (& this machine has no in-built optical drive).
The Toshiba-HDD Recovery utility seems to require a optical drive to be physically present, whereas I'd like to use to the utility to save an image of a recovery disk so I can make my recovery media at my leisure on another machine.
QUESTION: is this possible?

In fact, the logical direction for the recovery media utility must surely be to allow users to make not just an .iso of CD/DVD , but ideally also an .img for booting from USB/SD flash media. Might this happen in a software update of the utility...?

Answer:NB200: create .iso of recovery disk?

The Recovery Disc image is locked to a specific model of Toshiba, so I think it will be ok creating an ISO as long as its for personal use only.

I have used a utility that can create a bootable USB flash drive from an ISO or CD but that was a while ago, I can't remember what its called.

Search google for "Create bootable USB from CD" or something like that.

With every computer I've bought, I had been able to make or received recovery disks. I've read the foums here and found that I can make a windows image (which I've done) and how to use the OneKey to make a backup. My concern is after I'm out of warranty and the hard drive fails, can I restore it to the factory setting? The windows image, is just an image of windows. It will not have the different partitions that are there from the factory.  I think OneKey is on one of the partitions so if I have to replace the hard drive it will not be there. I just want to make sure I've done it right.

Hi all

I've done the free update today from windows 8.1 to windows 10

I'm guessing if I reset my laptop to factory settings I would be back on windows 8 and after the free download period is up I wouldn't be able to update to windows 10 again. I remember reading somewhere there would be an option to create a recovery disk but I cant seem to find this option anywhere. does any know?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Installed and want to create a recovery disk

Download and run the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool. You can use it to download Windows 10 version you need to an ISO file. You can then burn that to a DVD.

Hi there,

I recently got the Satellite M70 from on friend of mine.

But he lost his recovery cd and I would like to begin with a fresh installation...

How can I create a recovery CD for this laptop?

Thanks in advance

Answer:How to create recovery CD for Satellite M70

Seems like you have to contact your local ASP to get a new Recovery CD or you can order it online on this page:

https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

If you have your own operating system installation disc, you can save Toshiba related drivers and utilities in this folder: C:\TOOLSCD, but I think not all programs can be found there.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys,

I have a notebook where the recovery partition was somehow reformated.
Although I used a partition recovery software to recover the original partition, the original system partition that contained the recovery creator program was also gone.

So just wondering, is it possible to create a recovery disk by install the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator on another computer, extract the recovery partition image and then create a recovery disk from the image?

Cheers

Answer:How to create recovery disk from image on another notebook?

Hi,

Unfortunately, I have to disappoint you. it's not possible.

I had the same situation after partitioning on my hard drive, it's gone and didn't make recovery disk.
You can order the new recovery disk for money:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

or get a copy of Windows and install it. Then, download the all necessary drivers and enjoy it.

My daughter's ACER laptop (Aspire 5100 with XP Professional), purchased in 2006, was very sloooow. She received not system or recovery disk when she purchased and she never made a recovery disk.

Yesterday she contacted ACER Support and they directed her to a tech service. She spent 6 hours online, and on the phone, with a service tech (from India) who took control of her computer, scanned, repaired, deleted, etc. After restart, she lost the ability to connect to the internet (by wireless or hard wire). Her computer indicated the she's connected but she can't get online ('Unable to Display Page' or similar error message).

She went to her e-Restore Manager and it won't open.

We'd like to reformat her computer. She has no data of any value and want to wipe it completely and start fresh.

Can anyone tell me (us) how to obtain a recovery disk - help?

Answer:How to create Recovery Disk with corrupted system?

As far as a recovery disc is concerned, you'll have to contact Acer. Alternatively, you can purchase an OS disc and do a clean install.

My son-in-law and I both purchased new Gateway computers last July with Windows7. I created system repair and recovery disks however; he knows very little about computers and didn't do the same. I will have to admit I know little about the system recovery process since I have always had a windows installation disk for previous computers and have not had to fall back on the system recovery process so don't know exactly how it works.

I told him I would assist in creating a system recovery disk for his computer but wonder if it is too late at this date?

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You can create the recovery media on a memory key or a USB hard disk drive if your system doesn?t have a recordable CD/DVD drive.

Choose among the below links depending on the operating system you are using. It will guide you on how to create recovery media.

I just bought an inspiron 11 3000 series 2-in-1 for my son for school.
God knows, he'll probably load tons of stuff on it that will eventually slow it down to a crawl and I'll need to refresh it before the school year's up.  So, I want to create a system disc for it before he starts using it and I want use a fresh card solely for that so I can keep it safe and no have it used for something else.
How big of a disk do I need to create this recovery and system disk?  I used to just use the old CD's but,  that was back when I really was just reinstalling the generic Windows and didn't care about the drivers and such for my desktops.  I want to keep his laptop pretty much factory OEM to make our lives a little easier in the long run.
Would an 8gb be plenty for this?
Thanks

Answer:What size SD card should I get to create a recovery disk?

You need a 16G or larger flash drive -- given current prices, the sweet spot of price/gig is at 64G now - though the 32s aren't much more expensive per gigabyte.

So currently I am running a Lenovo ThinkPad T540P with Windows 7 installed. Unfortunately, I'm caught in a blue screen loop and I've been trying to factory reset the computer. I do have access to the files through a Ubuntu live CD, and I have a partition called "SYSTEM_DRV." This partition contains folders such as "Recovery" and "Boot." Is there any way I could manually make a recovery usb media using SYSTEM_DRV and the tools of Ubuntu? (dd, gparted, etc.) And yes, my files have been backed up.

Ok, just got done with a complete recovery of a dell 1501 laptop.
Went through a ton of updates and actually had to restart due to a failure in the update process along the way.
It is now in top shape, with all updates spyware, antivirus addes, crapware removed etc.

NOW i am curious, is there a way to make a bootable recovery disk ( DVD) from the current disk image?

So that when this this goes to heck again they can just pop the disk in a bring it back to where it is now?

I have acronis true image 2009, but haven used it much to know if it is capable of this.

"tried to overwrite the hard drive with wiping out the old window operating system with a new windows installation, the data is still in the hard drive, but I can not access it"If the old data is still there, you obviously didn't wipe anything. Explain how you went about reinstalling Windows.

Just to jump right to the point here. I am not having issues with my old PC, however I am purchasing a new one soon and will be giving my old one to my very user-unfriendly little sister who always seem to have quite a bit of computer problems.

I have removed all the files and programs that I don't want to leave on this machine. Ran ChkDsk, Defrag, Spybot, Adaware, Malware, etc..

I would like to create a Recovery CD for this machine so that when she does whatever in the world that it is she does to it to require a repair, I can pop the Recovery CD in and get it done much quicker than I would with a fresh OS reinstall and loading everything (drivers, SP, etc..) all over again.

I have searched online, but keep getting conflicted info on this. Like some sites give instructions requiring the use of a floppy disk which is no good to me as this machine doesn't have a floppy drive, just a DVD/CD read/writer. Anyone have a method that they have used and actually worked?

Thank you so much for the help.

Answer:Best way to create Recovery Disk for Dell Dimension (XP OS)

Seems to me...that it would be simpler, if not better, to just install a program that does automatic backups to anoter drive.

XP itself almost takes up 1 CD, who knows how much space would be required for what you propose?

I just got my Thinkpad T440s, my first Thinkpad and I really love the machine! I've been having this issue though which has been spoiling my enjoyment of the device: I can't make the recovery disks. I tried following the instructions here http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT076024 but I always get this error: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=5DCF305C859982FB!709&authkey=!ANxAZ-i4hSnedBA&v=3&ithint=photo... . On the previous page I can't check the box for copying the recovery partition. In the Disk Management snap-in (diskmgmt.msc) I can see that the recovery partition is there, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I would really like to get the recovery media created, as I can't risk starting to use this machine without recovery media since there is no DVD drive. I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks!

Answer:How to create a recovery disk on a Asus UX31E?

You will need either an external USB CD Drive or a USB Stick 16gb or bigger.

Click start, then in the search box type recovery, look for recovery creation or recovery disk, click on it.

In the window you should see create recovery disks, choose usb stick or DVD (if you have an external DVD Drive).
