Satellite Pro A300: How can I create the Recovery Disc

Question: Satellite Pro A300: How can I create the Recovery Disc

Hi,
I just bought a Satellite Pro A300 with Windows XP.
I want to know how I can, or if I need to, create a recovery disc which will reset the machine to its original state.
The information included gives instuctions on how to do this for machines installed with Vista but not for XP.

I know I can recover from the hidden partition but in case that option isn't possible I would like to be able to recover from CD or DVD.
There is a Product Recovery CD included which just says 'MS Windows XP' so I guess it won't include drivers or the Toshiba software?

Any help appreciated,
Thanks,
Mick

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite Pro A300: How can I create the Recovery Disc

Hi

Do you have preinstalled Toshiba software called ?TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator??

Please check this.
Using the TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator you can create the Recovery Disk.

But if your notebook was already preinstalled with Windows XP then a Recovery CD or DVD should be included.

Did you check all items in the box?

Answer:Cannot create recovery disc on my Satellite A300-29N using Sony DVD

I don't use Sony DVD media but TDK or Verbatim DVD-R. Every time I used it I was able to create recovery media. No problems at all.
I recommend you to do the same. Believe me it will work properly.

My laptop is Satellite A300-211

My question is can I use the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator program to burn CDs and DVDs beside the image of Windows?

Answer:Satellite A300-211 - Can I use recovery disc creator to create other discs?

Hi mate,

The Toshiba recovery disk creator can only create the Toshiba recovery disk and that?s all!

If you want to burn other CDs or DVDs you have to use another program like Nero or CD Burner XP. The last one is freeware and really nice. It has a lot of functions and is very small. Check this!!

I have tried using the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator numerous times and with many different brands of Discs to create the recovery disc.
However every time just as the laptop is just about to finish burning the disc, there is an error and the operation could not be completed.

I don't believe there is a problem with the drive as I have used it for many other things including watching movies with no problem.
Could Toshiba please mail me a recovery disc instead?
Thanks

Mail a recovery disc? Very interesting. To mail 4 GB image is not so easy.

I don't know what are you doing but if you want good tip then use Verbatim or TDK DVD-R empty medias. Use DVD-R only.
I have Satellite A300 too and I created recovery DVDs successfully.
Do you use DVD-R medias too?

Hello,

I have a problem with Recovery Disc Creator. When it burns the 1st DVD disc an error occurs. It says "Unexpected error occured. Error code: 0E01B5-26-2A031000".
I have Toshiba Satellite A300-1NA.

All of the updates are installed, and generally the system is "clean". I suspect that this problem is caused by my DVD-RW drive (MAT****A UJ880AS) but I cannot find new firmware for it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards
Maciej

Answer:Re: Can't create recovery discs on Satellite A300-1NA

Hi!

Firmware updates you can get on the Toshiba website but for your Satellite A300 with Mat****a drive I didn?t find one.

Have you tried DVD?s from different manufactures? I use always Verbatim disks and never had problems with it.
Check this!

Have an Satellite Pro A300-28V laptop with Vista 32 Business. After a recovery from HDD Recovery partition I decided to use the function Complete PC system backup to make an image for future recovery with all my present settings. Too annoying to reset to factory default (Thunderbird 3.0 Mail, Open Office, and some other small applications previously running with no problems for years on another desktop computer).

The system needs 5 to 9 DVD's and it writes the first DVD. Takes roughly 30 minutes. Then, during verification of that disc it hangs. Verification bar stops at about 30% complete.
Anyone with that experience? Does not the Business "Complete PC image" work well on a OEM installation of Vista?
Or is it maybe the DVD driver who needs an update? I do not use a 3rd party burning software.

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-28V - Can't create own recovery disks

Hi

Which program you are using to create your own recovery disks? For example I mean Acronis, Norton Ghost, etc.

In your case I would try it with another burning program like CD Burner XP or Nero.
Furthermore you could try to remove the upper and lower filters in Windows registry, maybe it will work.

Last but not least on the Toshiba website you can check if there is a firmware update for your CD/DVD drive.

Hello to everyone!!

My cousin interrupted the first boot of Vista, resulting in an constant error while powering up the laptop (saying something about disconnecting a camera or a media player). I decided to perform a clean install of Vista Home Pre and everything rolled ok.

I have a back up of the HDD Recovery Folder and tried to burn a DVD using as prototype my recovery dvd (A200-1J0) which prooved non-bootable.
So, I would like to know whether it is possible to make a recovery dvd manually (meaning without the wizard mentioned in the user manuals) for the Toshiba A300-17N laptop.

Answer:How manually create Recovery DVD of Satellite A300

Something like this is not possible. If the HDDRecovery folder still exists on second partition please start your notebook and press F8 for advanced boot option. Use first option on the top for computer repair. Follow the menu und choose option for Toshiba HDD recovery.

Install OS again and create recovery DVD using preinstalled Toshiba tool.

I recently purchased this laptop and I get this reminder to make a recovery disc, but the link to the program doesn't work.

When I found the recovery disc program in its original folder it still refused to open.
My laptop just 'thinks' for a moment and then pretend nothing has happened.

Does anyone have a solution for me?
Maybe I could download a working version of this program...?

Answer:Making Recovery disc for Satellite A300-16I

Hi

From my own experience after a third system restart a recovery reminder appear saying you need to create a Recovery DVD.
You said you found the recovery disc program in the original folder? well, as far as I know there is a ?TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator? shortcut on the desktop.
Use this shortcut to star this application.
If this is not possible then you could try to recover the notebook again and then to create the recovery CD.

To start the recovery process you have to press F8 button immediately after system start.
Then choose the option called ?Repair your Computer? and follow the instruction on the screen.

Answer:Recovery Disc's needed for Satellite A300

Hi,

1. have you tried to restore from Hdd image as written in this article?

http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=58

2. but when loading the disc's on 2nd disc fails to read and I get an error

It looks like it scratched and some files can't be read. As I know, the 2nd Dvd contains drivers/utilities that you can install yourself from Toshiba driver pages. It depends on model:

[European Toshiba Driver Page|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]

[Canadian Toshiba Driver Page|http://support.toshiba.ca/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp]

[Australian Toshiba Driver Page|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support]

[American Toshiba Driver Page|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp]

> Just wondering where I would get them from

Unfortunately, it's not free to order recovery disk, you have to pay. For European models, you can order here:

[Recovery disk|https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx]

For other models (country regions), you should check on above mentioned sites

Hi. I have a Satellite A300 laptop.
I saw that my computer has 1 hidden partition in the first drive and another recovery file in the second drive.

1) What is the difference between the 2?
2) I accidentally deleted the file on the second drive, and now I'm unable to create a recovery disc, so I need to order a new one.

What does the disc contain? does it only install the operating system, or will it also include some of the software that came with my laptop (Microsoft works, camera assistance software and so on...)

Thank you.

Answer:What does the recovery disc include - Satellite A300?

1) This is pretty easy. The hidden partition contains the Windows recovery environment and the file on the second partition in the HDD recovery folder the factory settings or lets an image of it.
The recovery environment is a Vista feature, not a Toshiba. If you want the factory settings back or reinstall Windows you need the HDD recovery function or the Toshiba recovery disk.
Here is a useful link about the recovery environment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WinRE

2) The reason why you can?t create the recovery disk is that you have deleted the file. Normally on the second partition in the HDD recovery folder is the image for that and this can also be used for the HDD recovery function. Therefore you must go in the advanced boot menu and select ?repair my computer?. But now it?s too late and you can?t use this feature.

If you want the recovery disk you can order a new one from Toshiba directly:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
The recovery disk contains the operating system and all drivers and tools from Toshiba that you need for the notebook.

I?m right that you didn?t look in the user manual?! ;)
Otherwise you would know all what I have told you.

Hi
I'm using Toshiba A300 laptop which has 2 HDDs (250GB each). The laptop has Windows Vista Home 32-bits installed but I want to change to Windows Vista 64-bits, which comes with the recovery disc, in order to use all 4GB RAM.

I backup all data and move them to the 2nd HDD (named D, the first one named C).

Therefore, I wonder if the recovery wizard will delete data from both hard drives or just the 1st one.

Thanks in advance
Kevin

Answer:Does recovery disc deletes data on 2nd HDD on Satellite A300?

Hi

Your notebook has been equipped with the HDD recovery option which allows you to create the own Toshiba recovery disk which would contains the preinstalled OS.
In your case the Vista 32bit.

And yes, the installation from the Recovery disk formats the whole HDD and deletes everything from the HDD, also from second partition.

Therefore create the Recovery disk before you would install or change anything on the HDD

i bought my lap last april and after the crash of the system.
I used the recovery disc that i made from the image on the hard disc but it erased all the data in the two partitions.

My question: Is there a way to use the disc to format partition C only without erasing the data on the other partition?

Answer:Toshiba recovery disc usage for Satellite A300-211

Hi

No. the recovery disk will format the whole HDD and will erase everything from the HDD and partition.
The usage of the HDD recovery procedure will format only the C and will leave the data on the data partition.

I have a new Toshiba Satellite A300-1QM Vista and now i want to run Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator
For this i need to deactivate the preinstalled McAfee Internet Security Suite
But how?

On my other computers i run Zonealarm and kaspersky there i have exit in the right mouse click on task bar icon pop up
but i cant find it in the McAfee Internet Security Suite

thanks in advance

Answer:How to exit mcafee on Satellite A300 to create Recovery disk

Hi

Please check if the McAfee Internet Security Suite loads automatically at the beginning.
You can check this in MSCONFIG.

Start the msconfig and check the ?Startup? tab.
There you could disable this tool and could reboot the notebook in order to check if the McAfee Internet Security Suite would still run in the background?

Answer:Cannot start Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator on my Satellite A300-15K

Hi

Did you change anything on your notebook?
I mean if your HDD recovery partition has been changed or the data o thin partition has been deleted?

To be honest for me it looks like the OS issue. I think it?s not a single tool issue but I think the operating system has been muddled up?

Maybe you should try to recover the notebook using the Toshiba HDD recovery option and after the new OS installation on the notebook you could try to create the recovery disk again.

In order to start the recovery you have to press the F8 immediately after the notebook has been powered up. Then you should choose the first option called ?Repair My Computer?.
This would lead to a new window and there you could choose ?Toshiba HDD recovery?.

But note; this recovery would format the whole HDD? so maybe you should backup some data before you would start this procedure.

Hi, I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite A300 243 and I decided to reinstall system to Vista Ultimate 64 bit (because of the 4GB ram usage).

It took me a few hours, but in the end I found all needed drivers and everything is working fine, except one thing - those multimedia keys (I think they're called Easy Keys). Start, Stop, Next track and Preview track works fine, but the first (by default used for toggling illumination) and the second (by default used for starting W Media Player) just don't work. I have installed the latest version of VAP for 64 bit Vista and in Toshiba Button Support I'm not able to change anything. The list, where normally I'm able to choose a key to edit its function, is empty. I found a few similar problems on this forum, but without any useful answer - lookes like the only way is to use the Toshiba Recovery option, and at this point I'm getting to my second problem.

The second problem is in Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator and Toshiba HDD Recovery tool. At first, before I reinstalled Vista to 64 bit version I wanted to create Recovery Disc, but Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator just didn't started. Then I found the HDD Recovery option, and I read, that this tool is placed on a hidden partition, so I thought I will be able to recover the old system with this tool in case of any compication. So I reinstalled the system and wanted to go back to 32 bit, because it looked like its slower and at first I wasn't able to find all necessary drivers. And what ... Read more

Answer:Satellite A300-243 - Easy Keys & Recovery Disc don't work

Hello

As you said for the easy keys or also called illumination buttons you need the Toshiba Value Added Package. The Satellite A300-243 belongs to the PSAG8E series and therefore you can find all drivers and tools on the Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

Before you install the VAP, make sure that all drivers are installed and SP1 for Vista at least. Then you can install it and normally then you can use the FN keys, illumination buttons, etc.
Make also sure that you have installed the newest BIOS for your notebook.

About your problem with the recovery disk creator and HDD recovery option I can only say that these features are only available on the preinstalled Vista version. That means if you upgrade to Vista 64bit you can?t use the HDD recovery option anymore and also the recovery disk creator.
So if the recovery disk creator doesn?t work you should use the HDD recovery option but this is not stored on a hidden partition. These files are stored on the second partition of HDD in the folder ?HDDrecovery?. The hidden partition that you mean belongs is a Vista feature: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Recovery_Environment

But just one question: Did you already create a recovery disk?

Hi,
as the title says, the discs fail to boot, details below formated for easier reading (hopefully :) )

- Brand new Toshiba A300 series,
- I created a Recovery Disc with the toshiba utility, it gave no errors, the files are there but the disc appears to be non-bootable.
- This happens with the two attempts I made, using Verbatim -R and Sony +R media.
- The Recovery Discs do NOT boot on my desktop system either.
- The laptop does boot fine with a couple of Linux distros on CD-R.
- I AM using F12 to tell the laptop to boot from DVD.
- I have plenty of experience dealing with liveCDs, burning bootable discs, etc., so I am inclined to think there is some issue with the toshiba creation utility.

Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Recovery Disc created is ok but Satellite A300 wont boot

Hi

There is definitely nothing wrong with Toshiba Recovery disk creator.
I burned the Recovery disk too. One time it failed because I used not fully compatible DVD. Then I tested it with TDK-R and everything went smoothly.
No errors, nothing. Finally I booted from the DVD and could reinstall the OS too.

I presume you should check other DVDs.

Hi,

Now I want to do it, but for some reasons, when I launch Toshiba recovery disc creator, nothing happens...
The partition with the recovery files is there, as well as the folder HDDRecovery. I did add some files to this partition, could this be the problem ?

Thanks for your help.

No. if you didn?t change partitions structure this should not be the problem.

Question is: does Toshiba recovery disc creator start or not? If you cannot star this tool it has nothing to do with recovery files.
Can you find this file - C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator\TRORDCLauncher.exe ?

Answer:Satellite A300: Does TRDC Reminder & Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator work after Win 7 upgrade?

Hello Igor

In my opinion you should create recovery disc before you upgrade it to Win7. I have done the same.
Later if something goes wrong you can use your discs and install Vista again using created recovery discs.

I don't understand why you want to wait and create these discs after upgrade. This recovery disc creator doesn?t create recovery image of current state but always the same recovery image you got with your notebook.

Tempro should work in Win7 too.

Answer:Satellite L - Can't create Vista recovery disc

Hi zombi71,

What brand of DVDs you have already used? Such burning issues can be related to low quality mediums so it?s recommendable using high quality mediums only. I have good experience with Verbatim and TDK disks and especially with DVD-R instead DVD+R. So I would recommend Verbatim DVD-R for example. With this brand it was possible to create the recovery mediums on my notebook. :)

How do i create a product recovery disc and use it to clean my computer so it was as if it was brand new again?

Answer:Satellite L30-10X: How do i create a product recovery disc

Hi

Do you have an original Toshiba Recovery CD?

If not, then you could order it from the ASP (authorized service provider) in your country.

At the other hand you could create a own image using a 3rd party application like Norton Ghost Utility.
Such software would be useful to create a won bootable CD or only a image file which could be stored on another partition.

However, if you want to restore you notebook, then reinstall the Windows OS.
All important Toshiba drivers and tools can be found on the Toshiba European driver page.

Just to close this one. I spoke to customer support on the phone as this post remained unanswered, There are no recovery disc to buy or create for this machine, so should the hard drive fail you would need to source your own discs. This machine will now be returned, a lost sale for the sake of a DVD. Must say the guy I spoke to on the phone was really helpful and courteous, sadly held back by company policy.

Hello,

I have Toshiba Satellite A300 model, The original OS came with it is Vista 32-bit. I have recently upgraded the Laptop to be Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have downloaded all the applicable programs associated with Windows 7 32-bit, until now all have worked perfectly smooth... However I have searched for the Toshiba Disc creator and have found none in the download page of Toshiba.

This is the link I use:

http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU&banner_id=HOM E_RSL_DRIVERS

If someone could help me out in this and redirect me to the download page of Toshiba Disc creator (For Windows 7 32-bit). would be appreciated

Regards

Answer:Satellite A300 Toshiba Disc Creator (for Win 7 ?)

The Toshiba Recovery disk Creator is available only in connection with the original Toshiba image.
You cannot download this tool.

Hi all I'm new here, so I hope this is the right sub-forum for this question. I'm trying to create a Recovery disc for my laptop (Asus Zenbook), and as it doesn't have a CDROM, I'm following the instructions here 95 - Make a bootable Windows Recovery USB Flash drive from a Windows 7 system - RMPrepUSB to create the recovery disc on a USB pen drive. The problem I have is that when I look in the C:\Recovery folder, it looks empty to me. And yes, I have run the command prompt as Administrator. I can't proceed without this step in the process. Can anyone help? thanks

Answer:Empty C:\Recovery folder when trying to create Recovery Disc

   Information
We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.
startup repair disc-create

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

Before you start make your Recovery disk.
Disable Boot Booster in BIOS setup before you perform system recovery from USB flash disk, external optical drive or hidden partition.

1. Press <F9> during bootup.
Ensure to press <F9> only once during bootup.
2. Select the language you use and click to continue.
3. Repeat the step 1—2 in the previous section.
4. Connect a USB storage device to your Eee PC and click Backup in the Recovery System dialog box to start the recovery files backup.
The size of the connected USB storage device should be larger than 16GB.
Memory cards are not supported for this function.
A dialog box appears as a reminder if you have not connected the USB storage device for system recovery backup to your Eee PC.
5. Select a desired USB storage device if more than one USB storage device is connected to your Eee PC and click Continue.
6. All the data on the selected USB storage device will be cleared. Click Continue to start the backup or click Back to backup your important data.
You will lose all your data on the selected USB storage device. Ensure to back up your important data beforehand
7. The system backup starts and click OK when done.

Hi.

I installed windows 7 professional in my laptop A300 - 15C (PSAJ4E) two weeks ago and i have a problem.
I Installed all drivers for win 7 from the official site of toshiba and i can't see the option of "Create a disk" where i can install the firmware update.

So, my laptop hasn't install the firmware updates and it's very slow on the boot.
Any idea about this problem?

Answer:Satellite A300 and Windows 7 - missing "Create a disk" option

As I can see your posting is mix of three different issues but described in two sentences.
Can we please discuss about each issue separately?

At first I must say that I have installed Win7 on my Satellite A300-1LI successfully and I am happy with performance and must say that all hardware components run perfectly.
So, back to your notebook:

# What do you mean with "Create a disk" option? Maybe you think on some preinstalled Toshiba tool, I don't know exactly. The fact is that Toshiba offers many useful tools and utilities with ?factory settings? only and such tools cannot be downloaded and installed additionally.
# Firmware update? Do you really need this? I don't think so. Have you noticed some problems with optical disc drive?
# Slow boot-up? Have you installed all listed drivers for Win7 especially chipser dtiver and storage manager? Please note that SATA settings in BIOS must be set to AHCI mode.

Hi everyone.

This is my first time on any forum ever :)

In August 2008 I have bought Laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 - 149. There was many turbulences in our relationship but we have always went thru them until now.

Some time ago I have added extra hard disc just for system. I've made it just to have all important datas in separate unit. Now this extra disc decided to be dying.

The problem is that there is no more recovery on the oryginal disc so I have a laptop, hard disc and the product key for windows but no windows instalation disc or at least file.

Can you please help me and tell what should I do now because I cannot undo what I have done already :)

Answer:Satellite A300 - Win Vista instalation disc missing

Hi

Your A300 was delivered with preinstalled Vista operating system (recovery image). This recovery image is saved on HDD. In user?s manuals document is described that every notebook owner should create recovery installation disc using preinstalled recovery media creator tool.

If I understand you right you didn?t create it so this is your only mistake.
What you can do now?
You have two options:
1/ You can order original recovery disc - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
2/ You can install own OS version

I have A300 too and since three years I use it with Windows 7 32bit. It runs perfectly and much better than original Vista.

Anyway, you must make decision what to do. If you have more questions feel free to ask.

Bye

I have a brand new A300-1MC, only 5 days old so surely not malfunctioning already!

Yesterday I configured it to my printer and camera, no problems at all when reading the discs. However, tonight the CD drive just doesn't read any disc at all, have tried everything from a DVD to a music CD.

I am not too hot with computer stuff but hoping someone out there will be able to help and hoping it's something really simple! Have done a virus scan, just in case, but nothing showed up.
Many thanks in advance, Carol.

Answer:Satellite A300-1MC - CD drive doesn't read any disc

Hi!

Do Windows recognize the drive and the BIOS also?

On the Toshiba website I have founded a firmware update for drives from Toshiba or Pioneer.
If you have such a drive, download and install the update.

I plan to sell my Thinkpad x1 carbon.  I will need to wipe my hard drive and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 8.  How can I do this?  Where do I find the product key that came with the operating system that came pre installed with my laptop?

Answer:How to create recovery disc

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You can find the CoA sticker at the bottom of the laptop or under the battery. If not, probably your system is preinstalled with a windows key. Use software like Belarc Advisor which will show you the product key.

If you have to reinstall the operating system, you may use the recovery discs which you would have created when you got the system.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hello, I have an E420s laptop and i want to create a recovery disck. Unfortunately my dvd is not working anymore ( thats why i need the recovery disc for) so i wanted to ask how i could create an iso image and then transfer it on another laptop where i could burn it.

Answer:Create recovery disc as ISO

As you want to create the recovery disc, ISO image cannot transfer to other system. I would suggest  you to  please use the USB optical drive for creating the recovery disc.

You can visit the mentioned below web link and follow the steps to create the recovery disc.

I have a question and am in hopes someone has the answer. Ok my Dad has the Vista64 on his Gateway computer. Well he didn't make the disc when he first got his new computer. We are needing those disc due to we had to take it to bestbuy(under warranty), and they are telling us they have to have the disc to repair his system due to it is corrupt and they are going to have to wipe his system clean and take it back to the original factory settings. This OEM Recovery Disc that is showing in this post and link, can I download that onto my system which is XP to put it on the disc for that? OR will it actually download a vista 64 into my system? I don't want to mess up my system so this is why I'm asking. Was going to purchase the disc but have no idea where to buy them at.

Thanks for the help!

Answer:Create or get OEM Recovery Disc?

First there is no link shown.
Second, what is the name and make of your computer. There is usually an Fkey that can be used to go back to factory settings.
You cannot make an OEM DVD at this point.
You may be able to get one for cost from the manufacturer/seller of the computer.

Hi, recently Vista failed to start on boot-up and I had to do a restore to partition one to get it going. Needless to say this is a lot of work as I lost all of my settings.
Vista (32) came pre-installed on my laptop so I don't have the disc. On windows 7 it seems easy enough to create a recovery disk from "backup and restore" but I don't see the same option in Vista. I have read in forums ways to do it but these were pre SP1 and I have SP2 installed. I want to know if there is a way to do it through Vista. Cheers

Answer:Need to create a recovery disc

Hello Alamshar,

The recovery disc created through "Backup and Restore" is not the same as your OEM factory recovery disc. The recovery disc through "Backup and Restore" can only be used to repair Vista with, and cannot install/reinstall Vista. The OEM factory recovery disc, can only be used to do a clean install of Vista with.

If you wanted to create the OEM factory recovery disc instead, then please post back with what brand your computer is and if it's a laptop or desktop. I'll be happy to see if I may be able to find and post back the instructions for how.

Answer:Create Recovery Disc

If you deleted the recovery partition then you deleted the files needed to create the recovery media. I am pretty sure on this.  Without the required files you are not going to be able to creat the recovery media on that machine. Only options would be to get ahold of a Windows 7 DVD or order the recovery media from lenovo, please see this link for more info: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-4M7HWZ

If it isn't, then you are out of luck and will need to contact HP to get a set of recovery disks instead.

I have tried this lots of times with lots of different DVDs over the past few weeks but this keeps happening!

The machine is only a few weeks old and running Vista home premium any advise please as Im stuck.

Thanks for reading.

Answer:Satellite L300 - recovery disc creator error - disc is scratced or dirty

Hi mate

I think you used simply not fully compatible and supported disks.
In my case I couldn?t create the recovery because the CD/DVD drive was not able to handle it.

Fact is that many CD & DVD disks supports different standards and properties and in many cases the CD/DVD drives have many difficulties to handle the different disks.
I think you should simply test some DVD-R disks.

I uses DVD-R and was able create the recovery disk.

Also what about all the drivers and such will they be on the disks i created or do i need to search for them and other programs such as my virus programs and such.

Recover disk will format whole HDD and will set the notebook to the same state like at the first day of purchase.

Hi everyone

Could any help me I have bought a new netbook which obviously has no CD/DVD Drive. I want to create a backup/recovery disc, when you go into it says it will take 2 blank DVD's. It then says no optical disc found. I connected it via an XSync cable to my laptop hoping I could do it this way but no! I plugged in my 500gb external hard drive hoping this was an option but it wasn't either.

Packard Bell say a 4gb flash drive or the hard drive should work. Any ideas how I can do this? When it say no optical disc found it doesn't give you an option to browse or send it to another drive.

Many thanks Jo

If you type "System" into the search bar you will get "Create a System Repair Disc". You can make a recovery disc within windows yourself. This would be handy if you can not boot into the self healing Recovery options Menu or instead of using an OEM or Installation disc.. It takes about one minute to make a recovery disc.

Answer:Create a System Recovery Disc yourself!

Hi Aaron,

I do not think that is working yet in Windows 7. It will create one, but when you go to test it, it is a dud. The problem is that it does not ask for the Windows 7 installation dvd to be inserted, as it did in Vista, to add the boot files needed.

Did yours work?

Hi all. All the discussion about a bootable recovery disc, and this article I ran across the other day. The article says you need the original installation disc. I have a machine that the disc didn't come with.

Vista SP1: Create a recovery disc - istartedsomething

If I don't have the original disc, can I still make a Recovery Disc thru SP1?
I know that there are a lot of places to download a ISO image from. In fact I downloaded one yesterday from a source in this thread.

Complete PC Restore- HOW??

But I am under the impression that it would be better to use a disc created after you have loaded SP1 if you have to do a repair?
The question is, will I be able to create a recovery disc after I have downloaded SP1 if I don't have the original install disc?
Or should I just create the one I have the image for and if I need to use it then Reload SP1 after I get running again? I am very new to computers and I will appreciate any and all help I get. Thank you.

Answer:Vista SP1: Create a recovery disc

Hi Ted,

Since you have a OEM Recovery installation dvd, you will need to create or download this ISO file to create the Recovery Disc instead of what was given by the SP1. You will just burn the ISO file to a DVD or CD to use it as a Recovery Disc.

sometimes there is a one off option to create recovery DVDs in the start menu.
Macriun Reflect (free edition) will create images of the drive anytime you like I do one once the machine is set up then one fortnightly (more if work done I can't afford to lose)
If window 10, you can create a recovery partition( but that's no good if the drive fails and you need to replace the whole drive).

Windows updates are not relevant for all this.

Which empty medias do you use, DVD-/+/R/RW?

Hi

I have an A300-21i and it wont boot. It wont recover using the image as the image seems to be corrupt and it wont re-install with the recovery disks it always hangs at around 52% whilst unpacking the OS from image X.

I have however proved that it is not the machine as I have managed to install Win XP Pro on it and everything is fine. BUT I would like to return it to factory condition as I would like to sell it.
I would appreciate any thoughts on this

Many thanks

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-21I - Recovery hangs at 52%

Hi!

I have never noticed a problem with my Toshiba recovery disks but have you tried to format the HDD before you use the recovery disk? Therefore you can use a Microsoft XP disk to format the whole HDD.
After this boot from Toshiba recovery disk again and follow the screen instructions.
Does it work?

Furthermore it would be interesting to know if it?s possible to install Windows with a Microsoft disk. Can you please check this?
Maybe the Toshiba recovery disk is scratchy or it?s a HDD malfunction and so it always hangs during the installation.

Hello

Of course you can buy a new recovery disk. Just click on the following link and order a new one:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

By the way, you can download all drivers and tools on the Toshiba website if you have installed Windows from a Microsoft disk:

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 - Can I get a new recovery disk?

Hi

If you have still installed the Vista version that was delivered with the notebook you can create a new recovery disk again.
Just start the Toshiba recovery disk creator and create a new one ? That?s all!

Furthermore you can reinstall Vista if you use the HDD recovery option. Therefore you have to go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select ?repair my computer?. Some files will be loaded and then you can choose the Toshiba recovery option.
But this is only possible on preinstalled Vista version.

In worst case you have to order a new recovery disk from Toshiba directly:

Hi amrit711,

The Toshiba recovery disk you can?t download so hopefully you find something with the same model where you can get recovery disk 2.

But you can also order the recovery disk from Toshiba directly. It?s not for free but these disks are pretested and should work properly:

Hello, at me such problem. I when have bought tried to change splitting of disks that was not half-and-half and that for disk C it was taken away for example 50 Gbyte and on disk D the remained. And so, suffered suffered and because of that that did not know that in BIOS the tag is established that it was impossible to touch SATA. All has spoilt.
Also has removed even the protected area on a disk for system restoration :(

Help please, I wish to return all as was. It is for this purpose necessary Recovery Disk for Toshiba Satellite A300-15E

In advance thanks all responded

Answer:It is very necessary recovery disk for Satellite A300-15E

Well buddy?. You mad a big mistake? you should have created the Recovery disk firstly before you have changed or deleted something from the disk.

I don?t know if you will be able to use the recovery HDD option but try to press the F8 buttons immediately after you have powered up the notebook.
Usually the menu should appear and there you should choose the first option called ?Repair my Computer? and then Toshiba recovery.

Well if this is not possible then you have no other choice as to order the Recovery disk from this website:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Trying to recover my A300, when on recovery disk 2 it restores for a while then I get the message:

Error: 10-FC12-045D recovery error

Just wondering whether ordering a new set of recovery disks from Toshiba would be worthwhile or whether there's another solution to the problem?

Answer:Recovery failure on Satellite A300

To be honest I have never saw such error but on this forum I saw several complains about similar issues.
In my opinion, before you order anything, try to obtain other HDD for testing purposes. Exchange HDD and try to install recovery image again.

Can you do this?

Answer:Should I get recovery DVD with brand new Satellite A300-16I?

Hello

As far as I know all new Toshiba notebooks are delivered with HDD recovery image. That means there is no recovery media anymore. When you start your notebook model you will see a ?reminder? about creating recovery DVD.
Can you find on the desktop shortcut for ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator?? If yes please start it and create recovery DVD.

Can you find ?HDD Recovery? folder on second partition? Please do not delete it.

Hi!

I have my Satellite A300 with Windows Vista for a while now, but it started to give me some problems a few days ago.

All of a sudden, windows won't load, it frozed on the windows logo screen. Since i needed to recover the files i installed ubunto from a cd and i was able to get the files out safe. Now, and since i have this partition, everytime i get to the screen where i chose the partition and try to start windows, a black screen shows and nothing happens! So i thought let's format everything but I just can't make it to the recovery screen or terminal. I've tried every key and trick I could find or remember of, but it still goes to the partition screen.

I have lost track of my recovery CD so, is there any way I can format without the recovery CD?

Thank you!

Answer:Satellite A300-1M1 - Format without recovery CD?

Hi

If you want original factory settings back your only chance is Toshiba recovery disk. Generally speaking it?s no problem if you have lost it because you can order it from Toshiba but this service is not for free:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Alternative you can use a normal Microsoft Windows disk. All drivers and tools you can get on official Toshiba website.

Check this!!!

Try to set BIOS to default settings and try again?

I think there is something wrong with hard drive after drop. Can you enter the Bios (f2 on startup) to check if hdd recognized. You can see it on main page or boot option.

Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300- 1EG.

I created 2 recovey disks as required in the "Toshiba Recovey Disk Creator". I created the first one (Disk 1) 2 weeks ago and the second one (Disk 2) today because I didn't have 2 DVDs in hand.

My first question is does it matter if I have left a period of time between the two creations will if affect the recovery if I ever need to use them?

My second question is do both recovery disks just recover the operating system eg: Windows Vista or do they recover everything that was saved on Local Disk C at the time they were created?

My final question is if it happens my operating system dies, do I just power on the laptop and put in recovey disk 1 and then 2, (if that is not how I do it can someone please tell me how to?)

Regards

Answer:Satellite A300-1EG - Why do I need 2 recovery disks?

Hello

When you use ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator? you can see there option for using different empty medias. On some notebook the image can be burned on one empty DVD and on some models you need two of them. It depends on recovery image.

For my Satellite A300 I used two DVD-R medias. I have created recovery images for several notebooks and it is not known to me you have interrupt recovery creation and continue it later. When the first media is finished you must put second empty media and burning procedure will continue automatically. As far as I know there is NO option for disc 2 creation only. Please be careful about that.

I recommend you to obtain two empty DVD-R medias and create recovery DVDs at once.

When you use recovery DVD the whole HDD will be deleted, not just partition C. that means all data saved on HDD will be deleted. If your notebook has two HDD the recovery procedure will affect HDD1 only. Be careful about that and before you start recovery procedure back up all your important data.

Final answer to final question ;) ? when you want to install OS again using recovery media do follow:
Power your notebook ON and press F12 to enter boot options
Put recovery media 1 into optical disc drive
In boot options choose CD/DVD drive and press ENTER
Follow the menu on the screen

Of course, start with DVD1 and when asked insert second DVD.

Hi

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A300 with Windows Vista pre-instaled but I didn't received any CD or DVD with Vista. I just have a sticker with CD key on the back of the laptop.

I installed Windows XP from personal reason and now I want to install again Windows Vista using the folder HDD Recovery.
Can I install or I should have made a DVD with Vista ?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A300 - Need recovery disk

Sorry but now you are not able to install Vista with the HDD Recovery. The HDD Recovery can only be used on an installed Windows Vista system because XP doesn?t support this function.

Your mistake was that you didn?t burn the recovery disk with the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator in Vista and now you are not able to burn it.

The only way to get Vista back is the recovery disk and now you must order it on the Toshiba website or from an authorized service provider.

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-15B, purchased almost 2 months age. I have created a recovery DVD using Toshiba Recovery DVD Creator as mentioned in the manual. The question is, I have created this DVD 2 months upon purchasing and I used the notebook for this period. Would my recovery disc be the same as a recovery disc created just after purchasing?

My recovery disc's content does not include any setup that I can see which makes me think that I might have created a wrong one. Can I use this disc for re-installing Vista assuming that I am now using Windows XP?

And how many recovery discs are required for this model of Toshiba? I only have one.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Kind regards..

Answer:Question about recovery DVD for Satellite A300-15B

>Would my recovery disc be the same as a recovery disc created just after purchasing?
The recovery image is always the same. When you use it the notebook will always have the same configuration, the same you got after switching it for the first time.

>My recovery disc's content does not include any setup that I can see which makes me think that I might have created a wrong one. Can I use this disc for re-installing Vista assuming that I am now using Windows XP?
There is no setup.exe because the installation cannot be started under running OS or in some kind of DOS mode. Just put recovery disc into optical disc drive, start your notebook, press F12, choose CD/DVD drive there, press ENTER and follow the menu on the screen. You can use now what you want. after using recovery DVD you will have ?factory settings? again, the same you got after switching it for the first time.

>How many recovery discs are required for this model of Toshiba?
This question is understandable for me. Generally it depends on media you use for creating recovery media. Just follow the instructions in ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator?. It can be that you need two DVD-R medias.

Do you have more questions?

I want to create a system repair disk from the system backup partition on my Thinkpad T410. I've got a couple of problems. On one hand, Microsoft's Create Windows Recovery Disc utility (I assume) works only from Microsoft's Windows ISO file, not from Lenovo's backup partition. On the other hand, Lenovo's Create Windows Repair Media program appears to write only thumb drives, not DVDs. Without going into details, this is both a concern and a practical problem. I expected to, and want to, create a repair disk (or disc), not a thumb drive.  Is there a way to create a DVD instead of a "media" from the backup partition? If not, I'm considering downloading Microsoft's Windows 7 image and burning a repair disk from that. But I think this is a poor solution because Lenovo has included drivers and utilities into the system backup partition that the Microsoft Windows image will not have. But I can't find information about what I'll miss if I use Microsoft's image instead of Lenovo's, and what (if anything) I could do to obtain the missing material. Can anyone help dispel the confusion?

Answer:Create Recovery Disc to External DVD Drive?

I haven't tried it, but it shouldn't be a problem. After the function has gathered the infos it needs it will ask which device it should write to, you should be able to select the usb drive.
Please note, the first disc needs to be a cd as boot cd, then you can create a recovery dvd.

Just purchased a 120G SSD to replace the 1T harddrive of H430. Tried to use Lenove rescue system 3.0 to create a set of factory recovery disc to reinstall the OS to new SSD. However, the only option available to me is 'Create recovery disc with CURRENT system' and there's NO option of 'Created factory recovery disc' at all. After I created recovery discs with current system and reboot the system with ONLY new blank SSD. The recovery process can not proceed stating the there's no enough space of the new SSD to complete the installation. How can I install the new SSD as OS drive? Is this a bug in the software that I can not create facotry recovery discs as many other brands can do.

Answer:How to create FACTORY recovery disc for H430

I have the same problem. The work around is to create a partition on the existing 1TB hard drive and make the new partiiton very big. Once the C drive have less than 100GB space (mine is 30GB), you can create the system recovery disc agian. And the backup will allow you to restore the system to the new hard drive. Hope this helps.

i prefer to clone or  Backup with Acronis True Image ...

Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP1, IE8

I spent at least 12 hours burning iso, re-installing Vista, updating etc etc etc.
I just finished activating it by phone.
So, I decided to create a recovery disc so I won't be facing the same predicment again, ( I was just a computer beginner back then.)
I follow this tutorial published by Brink :
Create a Recovery Disc

Problem started in
9. Take ownership and Allow your user account Full Control (permissions) of the recdisc.exe file at this location (step 7).

In my C:/Windows/System32, I don't have recdisc.exe. I have recdisc

So, when I right click at recdisc, Take Ownership was not available.
If I skipped that and continued, when it came to Copy and Replace, it asked for confirmation, and when I clicked continue, it wouldn't let me. Said I don't have the permission.
I just re-installed the darn OS and I was the only user, hence the only admin.

So, what should I have done ?

Thank you.

t-4-2

Answer:unable to create Visa recovery disc

Hello T-4-2,

"Take Ownership" is not in the context menu by default. The link in step 9 shows you how to add it. You will have to take ownership of the recdisc.exe file with your user acccount first, then set permissions of the recdisc.exe file to Allow your user account Full Control.

I have an A300-1MO.
Can I use any Toshiba recovery disk \?
Or is there like a specific one for my A300-1MO?

I'm like a total noob....
Somebody pls help...!

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1MO - Can I use any Toshiba recovery disk?

No, you cannot use any Recovery disk? you have to use the recovery disk designed for this notebook model.
The point is that recovery disk contains a image. Image is a package which contains OS and Toshiba drivers?
If you would use another recovery disk then the image would be installed with not compatible drivers and this could lead to further problems?

Every new Toshiba notebook provides a Toshiba Recovery Disk creator tool. This tool can create a recovery disk?

I have a Satellite Pro A300 and I need to factory reset. I have learned from my computers teacher that there is an unknown virus on it. Apparently it was downloaded when I downloaded Malware Bites. I got the laptop for free from Set-BC because I have muscular dis-trophy and get tired writing.

My teacher told me that I need to Factory Reset it, but when I received the laptop, it had had everything installed on it, (kurzwell, Chrome, etc) so I don't have the factory reset disk. Also, the virus has disabled everything that has the slightest thing to do with internet, (Chrome, I.E., Firefox, Outlook, malware bites, etc).

Is there any possible way that I could factory reset the laptop without needing the disk.
Any suggestions will help.
