Windows Touchpad stopped working for Acer Aspire E...

Question: Windows Touchpad stopped working for Acer Aspire E...

My touchpad suddenly stopped working and I don't know what to do about it. I've beening looking around the web for tips and tricks but to avail. I tried Fn+F7 and various similar combinatins but they don't work. I also tried going into my mouse settings to see if it was disabled. It was enabled and said it was working just fine. I then decided to do a MBAM scan because I thought it could be a virus that is casuing the problem and no threats were detected. I then read that pressing F2 during start-up and enabling the touchpad through there is an option. I tried that and the option to enable touchpad wasn't on my laptop. Finally, I read that going back into windows 8 and doing some stuff with the BIOs could help, but this is a used laptop and apparnetly used to operate Windows 8 (can't confirm though) before I got it but I don't think I can change it back. The only temporary solution I have is using an extenral USB mouse, but I want to use my touchpad as well. Help, what do I do? Thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

For the past few months, the right touchpad button does not work with the Windows 10 drivers. Windows 8.1 drivers worked fine. If I switch mouse settings to left handed, then the buttons work fine, but obviously this is awkward to get used to. I have rollbacked the driver to a very old edition and it worked fine, however then I had no synaptics touchpad settings so the touchpad settings could not be altered.

This is probably in the wrong location. I could not find a Laptop area for R7 or just a general Laptop.Anyway. I am running Windows 10, never had a problem with the touch screen until recently. The "Basic Information" screen says I have no pen or touch input is available.....not true. this is a touch screen. I've used it consistantly, and without problems. I don't know what to try to fix the issue. I read somewhere that it might be a "power management setting" I tried to see if it was, I opened the Properties on each of my 3 "HID-compliant vendor-defined device" to see if there was a power management option. One did have it, but it was greyed out and unchecked. Can change anything there. I tried removing all the "HID-compliant vendor-defined device" and they reinstalled on startup, but no touchscreen.I'm wondering if the latest Windows update wiped the touchscreen out!!! Please can someone help? I'm an artist, and using the touchscreen is very important to me.-Karen

Touchpad stopped working once before after upgrade to Win 10. I upgraded BIOS and Synaptics driver, that fixed it. Now it suddenly stopped again. Touching the pad to move pointer doesn't work, nor do gestures,  but the corner left and right clicks (for select and context menus) work. External USB mouse works OK. BIOS is still current. Upgraded Intel chipset. Uninstalled Synaptics and reinstalled driver. Win 10 is 1511 Build 10586.679. Out of ideas now. Help plzzzzz. THx.

Hi, My Aspire E5-575 touchpad stopped working completely. I have had the Aspire only 4 months, bought it in December 2016. I have Windows 10 64-bit operating system. Touchpad driver is Synaptics and driver status states that the driver is up-to-date. I have also checked mouse settings and they are just fine but the touchpad is completely dead. External mouse works fine. Any suggestions what to do or should I contact Acer maintenance center?

I bought an Acer Aspire E11 E3-112-C6YY laptop about 18 months ago and the touchpad has never been reliable. I did some early support with Acer however it didn't fix the problem and I eventually just gave up. I can see that lots of people have posted about this problem but the solutions are a few months old so am wondering if there are any newer fixes. I am not super-tech savvy so simple fixes would be great (if possible!)

I just bought an Acer Aspire E15 laptop running windows 8.1 64 bit Feb 14, 2017. It took a while to get it to install updates. I looked up how to fix the "stuck at checking for updates forever" and I figured out how to get the updates working by manually installing a few updates using standalone update packages from Microsoft.com. I had to disable my internet and disable windows update with 'net stop wuauserv' in cmd. After installing them in the correct order based on the prerequisites section for the update that another forum mentioned, I ran 'net start wuauserv' and enabled my internet. It then, by itself, installed 221 updates and it took 10 hours. Now the touchpad on it has stopped working and is not listed in device manager. Please help.

Answer:Acer Aspire touchpad not working

I would make sure the touch pad did not some how get turned off. Go into the menu, if you're working with XP/ Vista it should be in the control panel under mouse. There should be a tab that has an option for the touchpad. It might open up a window, either way there will be something that gives you an option for enabling or disabling it. Make sure that it is enabled.

I love this forum and have found a ton of useful information but this is my first time posting.

So I have an Acer Aspire ES1-512-P18H laptop that came stock with Windows 10. I deleted the partition and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 in legacy mode with a USB flash drive. I then installed most of my drivers and noticed that the scroll function on the keypad was not working.

I went to Acer Aspire ES1-512 Drivers Download for Windows 10, 8.1, 7, Vista, XP and downloaded the "Mouse and Touchpad Driver" which is an Elantech driver. No luck.

I then uninstalled said driver and downloaded the Synaptics "Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v17.0.19" driver from Software Drivers | White Papers | Videos | Synaptics. Again, no luck.

I did some more research and found this article Solved: Aspire e15 (e5-511-p9y3) Touchpad not working on w... - Acer Community - 277578 and attempted to install Windows 7 in UEFI mode with Secure Boot off. I deleted the Windows 7 partition to not cause any issues and to perform a clean install on a blank partition. Hi, My touchpad was working fine prior to the Windows 10 update (could scroll using two fingers and using the scroll area of the pad), but after it updated I have not been able to do this. I've contacted Acer and they've said it's something to do with an outdated synaptics driver which they they won't update as the laptop is out of warranty (whatever that means?) Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be most appreciated as it's very annoying not being able to scroll! Many thanks,Utinti

You need to roll back your touchpad driver. The previous version works perfectly.Right click Start button.Click 'Device Manager'.Double Click 'Mice and other pointing devices'.Double Click 'ELAN PS/2 Port Smart Pad'Click on 'Driver' tabClick 'Roll back Driver'. The next problem is that Windows 10 updating of drivers and patches is mandatory, so Windows will keep updating you back to the latest incompatible driver. Click thisDownload the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package now. on the Windows page herehttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930It's a Microsoft app that allows you to hide the update and stop Windows updating automatically from the driver you want.Rocking Windows 10 problem free myself here on an Aspire E1-571 with no scrolling problems.

Hi. My laptop is just 4 months old bt I am already having the problem in my touchpad. It is not working. I had Windows7 on my laptop. The touchpad was working very well and smoothly but suddenly one day, it stopped working. I thought it happened because I was using Windows 7 so I installed Windows 8.1 hoping that everything would be okay but even during the Windows installation, I had to use keyboard commands. The touchpad didn't work at all. It is not working even after the Window has been completely installed. For an alternative, I am using an USB mouse. And, you know this is really ridiculous. Please do not suggest me Fn + F7 because I am not that dumb to not to know that simple trick. My keypad is not working at all!

Answer:Touchpad is not working in my Acer Aspire E5 511P7...

Manozshrestha20,

I am sorry and can imagine this being frustrating. It looks like you did right with your assumption by putting the OEM load back on as that would have been a suggestion. Since you have done this already and it is clearly not a FN + F7 issue, then it sounds like a hardware problem with the touchpad.

Normally I would have you go into PC settings -> PC and devices -> Mouse and touchpad and check to see if the touchpad is On or if you even get that option. However, by default it should be on because you performed a clean install. So at this time since you are in warranty, I would recommend contacting technical support in you region for further assistance.

Hello, recently I asked a technician(or whatever you call him) at my small local PC store, which he owns that store, to add another RAM stick for my Acer Aspire V nitro v7-791g. Since I couldn't be bothered with it myself, I thought it would be the best idea. So he did that and the next day I go to take my laptop back and when I get back home I notice that the touchpad/trackpad isn't working, there is no cursor on windows either. I connect my USB mouse and it seems to work, but not the touchpad, and when I disconnect the USB mouse, the cursor dissapears. I called the technician, he said that it happens a lot, I just need to enable it in control panel - mouse settings. I did everything, I searched everywhere how to, even fn+f7 or whatever which is supposed to disable and re-enable the touchpad doesn't work. In device manager only my mouse shows up, I can't find the touchepad. Installed synaptics latest drivers from their website, still nothing. No drivers, no touchpad, no cursor. Only my USB mouse seems to work. I called them two more times, but they just hung up on me. I feel like they messed up a cable or something which connects the touchepad to the motherboard, otherwise, why else would it not work? Do any of you know what could be wrong?P.S. Sorry for my poor English skills.

Hi, The touchpad on my Acer is not working properly. If I want to drag the cursor I have to click on the touchpad with two fingers and keep pressing and at the same time moving my fingers where I want the cursos to go. How can I make it back to normal? I have tried looking into the settings but couldn't find anything that could help. Sometimes the cursor moves when I use two fingers but after a couple of seconds it freezes.Tapping on the touchpad to open files works fine. When I use an USB plugged mouse, the cursor works fine.Any suggestions will be helpful, but please be detailed in your answer, I am not really good with computers ;-) Thank you.

Something weird happened. It would not work no matter what I tried. I was watching a movie on KODI formerly XBMC. I accidently touched the Keypad and the Mouse moved. I pressed the Video button and it lit up. Only thing that I can figure out is that it took several hours for the driver update to work or that the Video triggered the Touchpad. I had uninstalled and deleted every instance of the driver including the Backup System Reserved created by a MS Tech, when my Windows Ultimate became corrupted. Initialy it had Win-7 Home Premium and when it would not install IE10 at the time MS gave me a free upgrade to Ultimate.Even then it took a week to finally get IE10 installed because the Computer Lacked Service pack1. Kudos to the MS Techs, they called me numerous times and worked on my computer. The spoke excellent English and are based in India. Laptop was out of warranty and Acer pretty much said tough luck, you gotta pay. MS did not charge me one cent.

I'm having multiple issues with this thing.1. It sometimes will just totally fail to note any clicks or touches.2. It "clicks" on its own and selects text as I'm typing and it's been getting on my nerves really badly recently. (It in fact, just deleted that text because it selected it on me)3. I'm having to use a wired mouse to make the brand new laptop function correctly, kinda destroys the point of a laptop imo. How can I fix this?

Answer:Acer Aspire E15 Start touchpad not working correct...

Hi wolfheartmoon,

I've got a couple pieces of information, and a couple suggestions. The touchpad is a Precision touchpad which is a little different than touchpads you may have been use to in the past. Here's an article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/touchpad. There are some slighly different gestures, and there's a feature that prevents "palm-checking" and that's thing over a quarter of an inch isn't registered, so we see people try to use the side of their thumbs unsuccessfully. If this isn't your issue, disregard, but I wanted to throw it out there.

Next would be to recovery the system to see if the performance improves and to ensure it's not a bad driver or some other software is interferring. With that said, I don't see a huge success rate with this. https://youtu.be/oFaFnRiwCiE

Finally, if you're still having issues, I would recommend contacting service as we may need to take care of the touchpad issue for you.

Hope this helps,Cory

I just recently encountered a problem with my Acer Aspire E3-112 notebook keyboard that I had been able to fix and would like to share the solution with anyone who may encounter the same problem. I had used a USB flash drive to copy some files without any issues. Shortly afterwards, I noticed that the 8 key on the keyboard had stopped responding, but all other keys worked as normal. I had pressed Fn-F11 (NumLk) and the 8 key started working again. Pressing Fn-F11 again disabled the NumLk mode, and the 8 key also stopped working again. I tried rebooting the notebook, shutting down and powering back up, reinstalling keyboard driver, etc, but nothing worked. To rule out Windows OS related settings, I rebooted into BIOS, and noticed that the 8 key still didn't work when I tried to change the time, but the other number keys worked fine. The solution that finally solved the problem was to shut down the notebook, and then using a paper clip, push it into the Batery reset pinhole on the bottom of the notebook for four seconds. Upon normal powerup, the 8 key started working again. If your notebook has a removable battery, then removing and reinstalling the battery might have the same effect.

Thanks for sharing. I've seen the battery reset fix a number of issues, but nothing as odd as the 8 key from working.

hello, ive had an Acer Aspire L320 for quite a while now,

ive had it upgraded by a computer shop to make faster with some more ram and brought up the hard drive space to 320Gb and it was running fine till yesterday.

it has been running 24/7 for a while with maybe a restart every 2 months or so, and had no problems with it and now i plugged it in (after a LAN party needing space) and it wont even turn on. it turns on the fans when i plug it in and when it press the power button it doesn't respond and continues to run the fan.

I have alot of experience building computers, but this is my absolute worst nightmare because its so cramped inside. can someone direct me to what i should to to fix it or what to check and/ or replace

Answer:Acer Aspire L320 stopped working, HELP!

New power supply would be the first thing I'd try.

I would suggest you perform a system restore to when it was working, it could just be a recent update that caused the issue to start occurring.

Today as I turned on my Aspire V3 laptop I found the system running extremely slow. Opening task manager I found RAM and Harddrive was almost running at 100%, then I checked it was McAfee scan that came with Pre-installation that is taking up all the resources. After about 10 minutes of running like this I decided to restart my computer. However after restart many system functions are no longer working. I can no longer access task manager. either CTRL+ALT+DEL or win-r wont bring it up. Tried MSCONFIG and again it wont start after I enter the keys. System restore similarly won't start after I click the bottons. There is no internet, clicking on device manager bottons won't bring up anything, driver update bottons similarly won't bring any response,  even reset to factory default botton won't work-was able to access the menu but when clicking on bottons nothing starts. - it seems as if the whole operating system is broke.  Since this McAfee program came with the Acer laptop (it literarily says McAfee Internet security -Acer on the program menu) was wondering if anyone from Acer knows about this issue and knows how to fix it. Thanks.

Sounds like the reboot came up in safe mode. Try a shutdown, restart to see if it clears up. Rebooting while in something as intensive as a virus scan / repair is seldom safe. You should always let it continue until it's finished, even if inconvenient.

"I already checked the sound driver, no question marks appeared"... Do you mean no exclamation points like this (!)? If you can hear normal sound from the headset the sound driver is okay. This could be caused by a keyboard setting. Make sure the sound is all the way up and that it is not muted

Hi, I'm running Windows 10 on a Acer Aspire S7-392-6832 laptop. Lately I've been getting jealous of my Macbook friends because of the four-finger swipe that quickly switches the last two open windows (effectively the same as Alt-Tab on my laptop) However, I was wondering why my laptop is not concidered to have a "Windows Precision Touchpad". The drivers that I use (ELANtech - the main driver, and Synaptics) allows for 3 or 4 finger gestures, so surely my expensive 2013 ultrabook laptop has a touchpad that is good enough. Does anyone know how to make the touchpad show up as a "precision" model so I can use the useful gestures (that includes the app-switching in OS X)?  I've tried reinstalling the Synaptics and ELANtech drivers and messing with some other options but that did not work for me.  Thank you.

Touchpad worked without drivers, started from low level hardware when I pressed FN+F7. I changed my mind, and deleted everything, installed Windows 8.1, from UEFI mode. You have to install the drivers in the correct order. I read it here somewhere in a thread about the V5 or E5 or V3 touchpad, I think.1. Chipset drivers2. I/O drivers3. Synaptics touchpad drivers I think that's correct, but have a search for the thread that mentions those drivers.

Following a thread from earlier Microsoft forums, this worked for me yesterday to restore trackpad function. Go to the Acer driver page for your computer. Download the intel IO chipset drivers for Windows 8.1. Run the setup for the driver in "compatability mode" and install. You will need to restart the computer. The computer will then recognize the trackpad as a valid device. Then download and install the Synaptics (or Elan) driver for Win 10 from the Acer support page and restart. If the trackpad is not immediatley active on the restart, hit Function F7. At least this fixed it for me.

I recently replaced the hard drive on XPS 15 L521x laptop, with Windows 7 operating system.  I used factory restore  disks to reinstall Windows 7, and then downloaded all current updates. Now the touchpad does not work.  On Control Panel, I went to Hardware and Sound.  Under Devices and Printers I clicked on "Mouse". This took me to a page titled "Mouse Properties."  I clicked on the tab for "Dell Touchpad." This took me to a picture of the touchpad. Under the picture, there is a link that says "Click to change Dell Touchpad settings."   This took me to a screen that says "Dell Pointing Devices."  This screen has a place to turn the touchpad on or off.  I clicked "on", and it lit up green.  Then I clicked where it says "Save."     But the touchpad still does not work.
Is there anything else I can do to make the touchpad work again?

Answer:Touchpad stopped working on XPS 15 L521x, with Windows 7

Hi JNL22,
Do the touchpad left and right buttons work? Does an external mouse work fine?
Kindly check if the touchpad is detected in device manager under mouse and pointing devices.
Restart the system and press f2 on startup to enter BIOS - check if the touchpad works fine while in BIOS.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Restart and check in safe mode if the touchpad works fine.
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/2aYm4Hw- reinstall the touchpad drivers - restart and check.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Forgive me if this is in the wrong area.
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It kept prompting me to upgrade to Windows 10, so I did so.
Now the button that disables my touchpad (also the F5 button) is not working.
The touchpad will not turn off.

Secondly, when I try to move the cursor, the "right click" menu pops up wherever the cursor lands, and it will not let me type. I have to use an external mouse to click out of the menu, then put the cursor back where I wanted it to land.

How can I make the disable button on my keyboard work again, and how can I fix the mouse so that the right click menu only comes up if I actually right click?

Thank you!

I have had this notebook for a few years and it has performed well. Today however I brought it out of hibernation mode, and it beeped. The keyboard and touchpad were not working. I restarted the computer and it beeped as it was loading, giving a message that said "Keyboard not detected." Once windows booted up, same problem. I shut down and restarted, same problem. I then unplugged everything, took the battery out, put it back together, and now it works fine. I'm a little concerned about this. Is this an indication of a possible hardware failure, or could something else more innocuous be causing it? Thanks in advance!

I'm running a Dell XPS 15 Laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  My Synaptic Touchpad stopped working after I updated an academic research program called Papers.  I don't know if that program caused these problems or not, but I'm afraid of uninstalling it because I may lose a lot of data.  (Long story, it's an expired trial version, and to export the data I would have to pay a fair bit of money, which I'm trying to avoid.  Right now all I want is to be able to scroll again.)
Anyway, the pointer would just remain in the default place on the screen, and when I use the keyboard to navigate to the Mouse section of Control Panel it says it "Cannot Connect with Synaptics Pointing Device", etc.
So I uninstalled the Synaptics software, and restarted.  Now the touchpad works fine, but without any of the vertical or horizontal scrolling capabilities that the Synaptics software had.
So, here's the current situation: if I install the latest Synaptics touchpad driver from the Dell site, the touchpad doesn't work at all.  If I uninstall it, and reboot with just the PS/2 Mouse generic Windows driver, the touchpad works but without any scrolling options.
I updated the BIOS to A12 from A06, but it didn't fix the problem.
Thank you so much for any help and suggestions!  Let me know if you need any more info.
Aaron

Maybe 8 months ago i updated my Acer E5-511-C1WE laptop from windows 8 - Windows 10. It defeated me but now im back!

After the update everything was working fine bar the touch pad, When i start up the laptop and windows loads the touch pad will work for maybe a second then stop. Just freezes. The same happens when i go to settings and turn the touch pad off and on again. I have been using a usb mouse in the meantime.

I have tried updating this driver:

Download Acer Aspire E5-511 Synaptics Touchpad Driver 18.1.2.1 for Windows 8.1 64 bit

But it still doesnt do anything.

Its just the touchpad, everything works fine. The only thing ive changed in the hardware was the RAM but that was almost a year b4 the update and doubt it has to do with anything.

I dont know much about this stuff, so if ive left out somthing important please let me know.

Hold FN and F7, and that should disable the intergrated mouse pad.

Did the keys never worked? Or have they recently stopped working? If they have recently stopped working, check if you have a restore point that is older than the day you started facing this issue. If you have such a restore point, try doing a system restore by following the steps mentioned in the article below:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc

My touchpad on my ultrabook seems to be failing. I have had this computer for only a few months and the touchpad is so difficult to click down now it feels like I'm breaking the laptop. It's definitely a hardware problem with how the trackpad is made. Anyone have any experience on a solution to the problem?

Answer:Acer Aspire s7 Touchpad

Try updating the drivers and then check whether the trackpad is working fine. For updating the drivers, visit the below link and download the drivers that support your model:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers If the issue still persists, even after updating the drivers, it's most probably a hardware issue. In that case you may need to contact the manufacturer (If it's still covered under warranty) or contact a local technician or service center.

Hi there! I have an 11 month old Aspire E15 Touch (which apparently is officially an "E5-511P". The touchpad has working fine but it suddenly stopped working. I've rebooted the computer but this had no effect. I went in to Device Manager and the only mention of "Touchpad" was under "Human Interface Devices" as a "HID-compliant touchpad".  When I clicked on it said "this device is working properly". I clicked on the driver tab and then update driver but it told me that the driver I had was the best driver (after a search). I decided then to uninstall the driver, which I have now done and the "HID-compliant touchpad" no longer appears. I've done a search of the net but it seems there are different types of touchpads for this model (?). Many questions:- I initially ruled out hardware fault because the computer said the "HID-compliant touchpad" was working. Have I made a mistake in believing this?- How do I find out what type of Touchpad my machine has?- If I find the correct brand of Touchpad, where should I save the driver (if I can download it)? PS running WIndows 8.1 64-bit. ThanksDamian

Hi everyone. I bought my Aspire ES1-311 just a weeks ago and I re-installed Windows 8.1 but the touchpad does not work. I tried to activate it with "Fn + F7" without success, I installed touchpad drivers (on the official download page of Acer website). The setup said that all is ok but still not working. In the mouse configuration menu of Windows 8.1 (Configuration panel), the Synaptics menu does not appear. On my Ubuntu disbrution, touchpad work fine without any driver. How can I fix this ? Thanks and happy new year

I have been trawling online to find an answer and cannot see anyone has cured this yet? Since I update my laptop from Windows 7 to windows 10 the touchpad has become over sensitive to the touch. To the point I keep accidently clicking things and closing tabs when my hand brushes over it! I nearly made a purchase on ebay by accident too! It worked perfectly fine before. I really need to solve this as it is frankly dangerous! I would settle for competely disabling the touch function on the touchpad if possible but when I go into the mouse setting there is no option to change any setting of sensitivity under the Elan tab and in fact other than the driver name at the top this tab is blank and greyed out so I cannot disable the touchpad either. Can someone please help.  Acer support said there is no windows 10 driver available form them? There must be an otion of some sort even if it is reverting to an old driver to get the sensitivity adjustment option back maybe? Or maybe there is a driver direct from manufacturer but I am not 100% sure what I am looking for to be honest. Please help. Thank youLee

leeroy_25,

Which model are you specifically having issues with so we can try to help narrow down a solution for you?

A basic troubleshooting step I can offer, if the touch pad driver is not showing that it is Elan, it sounds like you might need to download the drivers from our support site.

I recently bought Acer Aspire V5 - 471 model with no OS on it so I bought Windows 8 separately. The installation was successful but then I figured out that multigesture touchpad is not working. I'm not aware of any Acer regions shipping the system without an operating system.

I would suggest ordering recovery media for the system so you can restore it to factory defaults.

I've found a number of references to this problem but none that works, particularly with reference to this particular model under Windows 10 64 bit. I'm new to laptops and I like this machine, but i am finding it very difficult to get the hang of a touchpad and i think it would be much easier if it were not so sensitive. Can anyone help please?

Answer:Acer Aspire E3 112 Touchpad too sensitive

In this case, check if decreasing pointer speed helps (if you have not done this already). To do this, follow the steps below:1. Click "Start" and go to "Control Panel".2. Click "Mouse" to open Mouse Properties window.3. Click "Pointer Options" and decrease pointer speed to your comfort level.4. Click "Ok" to save the changes. If the issue persists even after following the steps above, you are advised to contact nearest Acer service center using the link below for further assistance:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service Hope this will help you.

I'm having some troubles with my brand new Acer Aspire 7730G (vista).

The touchpad doesn't work quite correctly. The right button is completely non-responsive. Also, a couple of times the touchpad itself was non-responsive to tapping. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, didn't help.

Uhhh, help me. Thanks in advance

I was tinkering around with my Acer laptop's motherboard trying to upgrade the 1 ram card in it. Well, I may have messed up the touchpad in a way. I've already tried reinstalling the driver just in case it was that sort of problem. But it wasn't. The touchpad is inoperable and I can only use a usb mouse to operate the cursor.  I don't know what to do! PS: I didn't void my laptop's warranty tinkering with the parts because the warranty has been over for a while!! -BetaTigerGaming"Owner of an Acer Aspire E 15"

Hello, I bought Acer One 14 Z1402 notebook few days before. Windows update was made once. The touch was working fine for 2 days after update and then stopped working. I tried to update the Finger sensing pad driver software (sentelic v9.4.9.9 R4 --> current one), after that the system was restarted. Still the issue continues. Now there is error like "PC is running into problem, it will automatically restart in few moments"  then blue screen appears.

Try performing a refresh if you can, should that fail, a reset to start over. If you are having issues getting into Windows itself to perform the refresh/reset, here is an article that might help.

Hmmm  seems that the Aspire 5315 is regarded as obsolete?  can't see why, mine is running win 10 except that it wont recognise the webcam!  Can anyone help with that problem please ?

Answer:acer aspire 5315 webcam not working in windows 10

Just thought to add that my 5315 runs Win 10 just fine, except that I can't work out how to get the webcam to work. Win 10 has installed a programme called CAMERA which although it is in the Apps list which come up in All apps, cannot be either started or removed from the list ??????
I tried installing several different webcam drivers for the 5315 but none of them work. I have uninstalled them all now and will do some more research for a solution.

PS.  I WAS ABLE TO GET A BRAND NEW 5315 KEYBOARD (UK version only) via Ebay for AU $15.

MY 5315 NOW LOOKS and runs LIKE NEW.
Only thing is that the @ key is "hidden" where the " key is and @ is found at Shift '  But......I do now have a fully functioning laptop which had been rendered useless when the original US keyboard got damaged and literally fell apart.
