Acer Aspire 7750G Keyboard not functioning

Question: Acer Aspire 7750G Keyboard not functioning

I need help with an Acer Aspire 7750G-9810 laptop. The keyboard has mostly stopped working. A few symbol keys and the backspace key work as well as the numeric keypad. The letters do not work at all. I had closed the laptop and when I opened it up to use it next the keyboard did not work. I have tried restarting the computer using normal shut down as well as a hard shut down (holding the power button down until it shut off). I have checked the device manager, it shows it is functioning properly. I also checked the driver, it says it is up to date. The touchpad mouse is working. Anyone have any advice on what to do next? I can use the onscreen keyboard or a wireless keyboard.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Acer Aspire 7750G Keyboard not functioning

Tango-n-Boots,

As long as nothing was spilled or the unit was dropped that would typically mean that the keyboard itself could be defective, the keyboard ribbon could be loose, or the motherboard could be defective. Depending on your level of expertise, you can check the ribbon cable to make sure it did not come loose from the motherboard, otherwise you might have to take the system to a local technician and see about getting some assistance.

I have an Acer Aspire E5-571P that I just upgraded the RAM in.  Everything is working great, and the RAM is recognized, but the keyboard is no longer working.  I've tried rebooting several times, re-connecting the ribbon, heck, even holding the ribbon in the port, but no keys are being recognized at all.  USB keyboards work just fine, but not the built in keyboard.  The touchpad and power button are also working just fine, just not the keyboard itself.  I also tried gently air-dusting the ribbon with no success.  Any advice?  Thanks in advance!

Answer:Acer Aspire E5-571P keyboard not functioning

Hi , Have you tried to reload the driver? also try and hook up a wireless key board and standard keyboard.. if those work your key board may be bad.. those connectors are very touchy and if you come into contact with the connector tips the nature oils from you skin will interfer with some of them.. .. Let me know if that helps...

Hey. I've been having a problem. My Acer 7750G fan isn't turning. Some temporary solution of the internet suggest I should flash my BIOS. There's nothing wrong with the fan, it's been tested on other power sources. Do you know any other solution. If not, can you help with with flashing my BIOS?

Answer:ACER Aspire 7750G fan not turning

Hi vjeko 1701 If you've proved the laptop fan is working, go to support for your region, go to "Drivers & Manuals" & enter your model details. Click on the BIOS tab to see if there is an update. However, if it only recently stopped working, try using system restore to go back to a date when it was OK. It may be possible that an update or program you installed could have corrupted something. Finally, if the fan still refuses to work, it may be a motherboard issue & would need a repair specalist's attention, although this is less likely the reason!

Answer:Sound problems with Acer Aspire 7750G

You can try reinstalling the sound driver, but I suspect the heat damaged the sound card.I would probably disassemble it and replace the thermal paste on the CPU/GPU and see if that helps. If it doesn't, you might need a new motherboard.

For clarification this laptop has switchable graphics so it has both Intel and AMD display drivers. I recently tried to update the AMD driver (AMD Radeon HD 6650M) for my laptop due to not being able to access Catalyst Control Center. It didn't work, and I mistakenly forgot set a restore point.

I've uninstalled the drivers, ran Driver Sweeper, and ran CCleaner. I attempted to install the display driver for my model from the Acer website: VGA Driver AMD v8.901.4.0 (http://support.acer.com/us/en/produc...1&modelId=3476).

However, I do not receive the option to install a display driver in the Catalyst Install Manager (http://i.imgur.com/qL52a.jpg). I have been able to install it in the past. This time however, when I run the Catalyst Install Manager it doesn't have an option for me to install the display driver nor Catalyst Control Center.

Also, the AMD card is not able to start, but I suspect this is because there are no drivers installed for it. (http://i.imgur.com/qL52a.jpg)

Is there anything I can do short of doing a total restore to fix this?

Welcome to SevenForums,

Have you tried the native "Acer eRecovery Management" software (can be found in your programs list)?

This will restore back to default both VGA drivers.

Hello everyone,I own an Acer Aspire 7750g-2636G75MnkkRecently i updated to Windows 10 but i found out that my AMD Radeon 6650M is not supported, so i switched back to windows 7 with the Back up disc i made with the factory settings. So i tried to update everything, i used the AMD auto detect tool and it did install to the newest 15.7 driver. After the restart i got horizontal black lines flickering over my screen so i uninstalled it and went back to the factory driver.Went to the acer site for driver download and i saw there was a "newer" version available. (8.901.4.0).So i uninstalled the factory one(8.822.0.0) and installed this one. But the installer said when it was done that there were some problems. I checked the log but everything was succesfully installed. After the restart everything went good until after the login screen. Screen was black with green, i could barely see anything.Tried to plug HDMI cable into my TV.Tv screen is normal but laptop screen is still black and green. So i uninstalled that one again and went back with the factory one. (8.822.0.0)I am now running into compatibility issues, i can start a program but it closes right after. I can only start it when i put Windows 7 manually in the compatibility mode.Even some games say my drivers are outdated. When i do 64bit DxDiag, it says program stopped working. Started it again and it said it had problems accessing the Direct3D. If i don't skip this step, it stops working. But if i do skip it, it runs but when i... Read more

Hello. I recently bought an Acer Aspire 7750G. I noticed that when I tried to charge it the battery level would simply stay where it was and would not increase. I put this down to a faulty battery and am now using a new one however the issue remains and it will not charge past 7% even with a brand new battery. I am hoping this is a false reading and not a serious hardware fault. Any assistance in troubleshooting this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. EDIT: After draining the batter and leaving in on charge switched off for a while it is now stuck at 0%.

Hey guys! First post here on the Acer community forum. I have a question regarding my Acer Aspire 7750g. I bought & installed a new motherboard but I've been dealing with a major issue concerning the power button board. It seems to either have stopped working or the ribbon has shorted out, I don't have the means to test which part is defective, but no power is running to the power button board so I can't turn it on. I've been searching all over the place for a replacement power button board to no avail, but came across one for an Acer Aspire 5750. I know that certain components are interchangeable between both laptops but I don't know about this particular piece. Are there any experts out here that can verify if getting a 5750 power button board would work? Or could this cause some potential problems to the new motherboard? I'm desperate to get this machine back running so that I can work again. Oh, and if anyone knows where I can get a 7750 power button board for a decent price in case the 5750 board doesn't work I would be greatly appreciative.Thank you

Hi,
We have Windows 7 64 bit with an Acer older laptop.
We are not sure what we did but our keyboard has changed in that we cannot use Ctrl + Cto copy or Ctrl + V for paste and other functions. Also our mouse pad does not work anymore. We are using an external USB keyboard and it works fine with a USD wireless mouse and sometimes a USB wired mouse which work fine.
My question is what can we do to restore our laptop keyboard?
We do not have or original Windows 7 CD anymore.
We have tried to fix the mouse driver but I think I made it worse.
We have tried to update the HID keyboard device but Windows says it is up-to-date.
Same with PS/2 keyboard device.
Same with the mouse- up-to-date.
Could we hit some key combination that changed the keyboard settings?
We have looked in the Acer PDF but see not solutions.
Thanks,
Chip MX (we are living in Mexico)

I have an Aspire AS7750G-9810 and recently had to go through quite a lot of hassle when my WiFi was in the process of dying. I found a cure with a USB WiFi, but ever since I have reformatted I am not able to run any sort of game that requires graphics. I can play Hearthstone just fine, but it still slows a bit now and then.  I have tried Intel's auto-detect for drivers, but they don't allow this computer to install auto-detect drivers on this type of copmuter. I have tried to install Raedon drivers, but as all who have this computer know, you can't update the drivers for that card. I'm kinda out of options at this point, but there has to be a way to make this work... Any ideas?

Answer:Acer Travelmate 7750G freezing

Hi man23p,

My first thought is that recovering the system will probably be your best bet. If there was an issue with RAM or CPU (which you've tested), I think you'd find it occuring more often than every few weeks.

Here are steps on starting the recovery from within Windows. http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12869/

I'd suspect if there was a hardware issue 95%+ chance that recovery would fail before it finished.

Let us know the results and I hope this helps,
Cory

Answer:Acer 7750g-9657 type of ram

The maximum RAM supported by your laptop is 8GB. Do not buy more than that.

Acer specs show DDR3-1066 RAM (PC3-8500). You should get the same.

The problem is that Acer does not give the RAM voltage. You might pull the existing stick out and look to see if it is listed on the stick.

The RAM timings are not as important if you are replacing both slots, but I have had good luck upgrading RAM in laptops by just buying one additional stick and matching the specs of the existing stick exactly. Laptops do not seem to be as fussy as desktops when it comes to RAM.

No BSOD while playing/from windows start up, unlike when I was on switchable graphics mode. Before I did this solution just so I can use my laptop, I've already tried updating my graphics driver but to no avail, it fails and I always get BSOD upon restarting. Any thoughts on how can I possibly update my driver successfully?Acer Aspire 7750GWindows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1Inter Core i5-2450MAMD Radeon HD 7670M, 1GB8GB DDR3P.S. It's not an overheating issue since my GPU temp only goes around 60c-70c when in game(Ragnarok Online 2) + Chrome + Skype + Raidcall + LineUpdating the driver gives me atikmpag.sys BSOD error on start up

Answer:Aspire 7750G BSOD - GPU crashing - can't update

linusfatale,

I can really only suggest some disassembly to make sure that the fan that cools the GPU is clean. I understand that you say it's not overheating, but 60-70C (140 degrees F) is pretty warm, it sounds like it's not getting the cooling it needs.

Good day, I saw that my laptop is not in the list posted in the Acer support for Win10. Though I want to ask if the drivers of Win7 will work with the new OS. I also read somewhere, that I would have a month to try this out and if I don't like it I could reverse it, is that correct? Kind regards and thanks in advance, Chris

Answer:Aspire 7750G Win7 to Win10 drivers

having newer drivers, for sure is the best choice; so if you can, download new drivers from third party sites. by the way you can try to install without new drivers and check if windows installs automatically new drivers (if connected to web) or gives you some warning on update drivers.

I have upgraded to Windows 10 on my 7750G and the update went thru smooth. But when I restart Windows it shows the windows screen with the moving dotted circle, the harddisk led stays on for a while, then starts flickering, and a blank screen is shown! After waiting - about 2 to 3 minutes - it goes directly to the lock screen, no login screen is shown.

joeboemoe,

The lock screen is where you login now, if I am not mistaken. The notebooks we have here boot to a lock screen we have to click to log in, even my PC at home does. If you want to take a look at this article we created, it might be what you are looking for.

I created a password for one of the logins on one of our notebooks and I had the option to choose Never under "If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?"

Fairly simply query. The mousepad on my old Aspire 7750G doesn't respond, and all the settings suggest it's working properly. My external mouse (through USB port) works fine; this is only an issue with the pad on the computer itself. Could it be a hardware issue? The computer is 4 years old, so no warranty anymore, unfortunately. If it's not hardware, can anyone help me with tips on how to fix it?

I updated my Aspire 7750G laptop to Windows 10, and everything went well except for one thing. When waking from sleep mode, it powers up, but just shows a black screen for about 90 seconds.  When it finally does show the Windows login screen, it works just fine.  It's just the delay that I can't explain.   No amount of keypress or mouse click speeds it up. Before upgrading, it did not have this problem.  Wake from sleep took about 2 seconds. I have the latest bios update and all the latest video drivers.  Is this a known bug?  Anything else I should try? Thanks,Matt

Answer:Aspire 7750G slow to wake from sleep on Windows 10

I have the same problem on V7-482PG. Whne i close the lid Windows 10 is set to go to Sleep. But when I open it it just shows the keyboard is lit the blue led is showing as if it would be started but the display is black, nothing happens. I'll try to wait 90 seconds to see if it resumes, but this needs to be fixed.

Answer:Aspire 7750G 9807 FN Keys Aren't Working!

My experience is that - in the event of a missing or corrupt keyboard driver - none of the keys will work.

My guess is the keyboard itself is defective. I've replaced several notebook keyboards where most of the keys worked but others didn't.

If the PC was purchased under a year ago, replacing the keyboard should be covered under the mfr's warranty. If not, you should be able to find a new replacement keyboard from a top-rated seller on eBay for between $15-$20 depending on the model.

Hope this helps.

Hi man23p You could try (if you have a decent one lying around) a replacement HDD. I have previously tested one on a desktop that had issues, but the drive when tested showed no errors. On replacing it, it solved the problem. Since you've reinstalled various Windows/Linux editions & tested various hardware & the problem still exists, then it will either be the mobo or the CPU. From past experience, CPU's these days rarely fail - motherboard failure is more common. So you may like to have it checked out by a pc engineer just to verify, but I don't think there will be much you can do, unless you're lucky enough to find a second hand one.

I need help.
My laptop was working fine earlier. I turned it off, went to go do something else, and then came back and turned it on again.
The computer boots up to the windows 7 logo and then it just stays there. After a while, the computer blue screens to an unmountable boot volume error. After rebooting, I am greeted with two options. Launch windows normally or Launch startup repair. If I launch windows normally, it just does the whole error thing again. If I launch start up repair, it "loads windows files" and the leads to a black screen with no cursor.

Then, I rebooted the computer while pressing F8 which gave me many options. I thought the cause of the problem was the new drivers I installed(which were leshcat unifl drivers). So, I attempt to boot into Safe Mode. Unfortuanately, this also leads me to a blue screen(after freezing at a something/driver). I tried the repair the computer option, but that leads me to a black screen with no cursor.

The laptop came with no CDs so I don't have any windows 7 home cds.
I also modded the bios(insydehd 7750g for switchable graphics) around two weeks back for the drivers. Everything was working fine for those two weeks and then I am hit with this.

If it helps, I also sometimes had a blue screen after some start ups few days back, but I would always be able to start back up normally, now I can't.

Please help, I think I may be out of options.

I can use the keyboard when starting in safe mode but not when windows starts??? The Tried reinstalling the driver but didn't work

Answer:Acer Aspire keyboard is not working

When Safe Mode works properly but Normal Mode does not, it typically means that a driver or some software has just been installed that is interfering with Normal Mode. The types of software that can do that are drivers, antivirus products, third-party firewall products, CD/DVD burning software or virtual CD/DVD software. If you can remember installing anything like that, uninstall it in Safe Mode then restart.

Answer:Is the a backlit keyboard for an Acer Aspire E5-77...

There is, however, I highly doubt a standard user would ever want to do this. And you will 100% break your warranty, and quite possibly break your computer trying to replace it. It is your own responcibility if you do it. It is not user friendly to implement. But if you really want to risk everything, you can find the part online, but your risk. If you want, you can wait for a ACE member to answer your question.

Hi, newbi here, hello

I have an Acer Aspire One notebook. Two months ago I very stupidly spilled my cider onto my Acer, like a ninja I immediatley turned it upside down to dry out, I havent touched it untill this week.
It starts up, makes a high pitched noise until the windows start up, then shuts up. Key board not working very good, hit and miss as to whether keys work.
I plugged in another keyboard and this has been working until now.
I've tried re-booting but this has not done anything.
Now if I do manage to open anything, I cant do anymore than that, the mouse is working ok.
Is there anything I could do or should I just bin it.
Oh, and there arent any tech minded peeps in this houshold. :-o

Answer:Keyboard not responding on Acer Aspire One

One thing I can say, is the Sony Vaio has a very nice rubberized keyboard.

IF you are capable, I would take it apart, and THOROUGHLY clean it.

Other thing that bears mentioning, if it is possible to pull the battery from your laptop/netbook, pull it IMMEDIATELY should you spill any liquids on it.

That kind of goes for ANY piece of battery powered hardware.

So basically , one cannot move down a list of items in windows explorer using the down arrow - and it remains the same in all kinds of application - in the browser , while playing games etc . Simlarly other keys like "Delete" and "Insert" are also malfunctioning .  Another key that is working in an undesirable manner is the "Q" key . Whenever I use the Q key , for eg. in microsoft word , this "q" alphabet jumps to the starting position of the word which I were typing .  So all this makes the netbook almost un-usable for academic needs & beats my purpose .  Hope I can find the right solution to this problem here . THANKS IN ADVANCE

My laptop's keyboard stopped working (only the "a" and "1" keys will work). I believe this to be a hardware problem and would like to know what the exact model for a replacement keyboard is and where I could purchase one. After some researching some opinions said to change the entire top plate of the laptop, if that is a better solution I would need the model for it as well. Thank you

hi i had the weird linux distro *scratches head trying to remember name*
it was installed shipped. replaced it with xp, now my keyboard buttons are doing a mac on me or something, the symbols are in the wrong places, others don't work e.g. pound sterling symbol.

is there a simple fix for this?

much appreciated.

Answer:acer aspire one keyboard settings help :)

XP .. hmm yes there is.

You have installed XP without chaning the language and keyboard layout. Your keyboard is currently set to US layout (@ key = " key and vice versa).

You can set it to UK layout by going to the control panel >
click switch to classic view >
region language options >
click language tab >
under text services and input languages click the details button >
under installed services click add

There you can select your input language and keyboard layout

I hate that my laptaps keyboard isn't backlit. Is there a backlit replcement for this?

Answer:Is the a backlit keyboard for an Acer Aspire E5-77...

There is, however, I highly doubt a standard user would ever want to do this. And you will 100% break your warranty, and quite possibly break your computer trying to replace it. It is your own responcibility if you do it. It is not user friendly to implement. But if you really want to risk everything, you can find the part online, but your risk. If you want, you can wait for a ACE member to answer your question.

My wireless keyboard that came with the system Acer Aspire z3-710 ( all in one ) suddenly stopped working today. They mouse works fine and all effort to uninstall the drivers and reinstall failed to fix my problem. I unplugged the receiver from the once USB port and tried the others on the PC and the same issue with the keyboard not working. I plugged the receiver into my laptop and the keyboard and mouse work normally.. What is my issue here with my Acer Aspire z3-710 if the keyboard and mouse combo work on other machines? I tried the filterkeys suggestion, but thats not the problem. Any suggestions? I would rather not have to use a wired keyboard. Thanks in advance.

(i'm going to try and explain this the best i can)My Acer Aspire E15 laptop's keyboard has stopped working so I'm typing this with an external keyboard. I've only had this laptop it for a little over a year and having the keyboard just stop working is very dissapointing and a little frustrating. Anyway, I was wondering if there was any possibility of getting this repaired, because I've been informed that the keyboards of these laptops are connected to the motherboard in a way that would require getting a whole new motherboard just to replace the keyboard. I don't know if this is true or if there is anyway to repair my keyboard without replacing the whole **bleep** motherboard, so if anyone knows it would be awesome if you could help me out.

Answer:Acer Aspire E15 keyboard not working?

Not sure where they got that info. However you can replace the keyboard. That does take some doing. But I think a person would most likely replace the whole top part. That is track pad and all. I would say look on eBay for you type and see if they have any. When you take apart you remove power, battery, 14 or 16 screws from the bottom. Remove drive from the bay. Use old credit card to separate the 2 half. Then there is some ribbon cables that would need to be removed carefully. If you got the whole thing. Then put in New one same way you took out old. However if you just got the keyboard you will bee to take out 8 to 10 more screws peeling tape from the ribbon cables and to access the small screws then the keyboard can be removed. For me I would try and find whole top plate would be less work.James

Hey guys, I'm new here, and I want to ask you how to fix it? (the title says it all), it's not even work in the BIOS menu (well i can't even enter it :v)
I'm using windows 7 64-bit, I am typing with my father's laptop. Sorry for my bad english, anyway Thanks.
(And because I'm new here, i don't know if this is in the right or wrong section XD )

Answer:Acer Aspire E1-431 Keyboard is not working at all (All key).

Try using the keyboard on another computer and see if it works. If it's a USB keyboard, you should be able to use it on your father's laptop. If NO keys work on EITHER computer, the laptop is most likely ready for the garbage dump. I suppose you could try opening it up and cleaning it, but if it's not a very expensive keyboard I wouldn't even bother. Just replace it.

Still using the original Windows version? Try safe mode or set msconfig diagnostic setup to see what happens? Jack E/NJ

Ok so I regularly play video games and work on this laptop but for a while when ever I hold the w key and release it the key would still act as if it is being pushed down and would not stop holding itself down. This also happens when I switch tabs and when that happens the w key becomes unresponsive for a while then it is able to be used a couple seconds/minute later. I am not having luck with cleaning the keyboard since there is no space at all to stick a spray in to remove dust or a way I know of to remove the covers of the keyboard but all my other keys are good.

Answer:Keyboard unresponsive Acer aspire V3-571

Hi Th3da,

Unless you can feel that the key is sticky, I don't know that there is much room to clean and the design is mean to keep stuff from getting in.

If the W key is just occassionally not being recognized, it may be an issue with the contact and the KB may need to be replaced.

I have recently bought an Acer Aspire ES1-512 with a UK keyboard. I want to replace it with a US keyboard. Do I need to replace the full upper case part, like in this discussion i.e. with this component? Or can I get away with just replacing the keyboard with this?
