I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an Acer Aspire Z5771, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400S CPU @ 2.50GHz 8GB ram, The wireless keyboard stopped working (not sure if it was after the last windows 7 update). I have replaced the batteries and did not fix the problem. Checked in Device Manager but drivers appeared to be working properly. At present I do not have a spare keyboard to try. Does anyone have any further suggestions that I could try? At present I'm using the 'virtual keyboard'.Thanks

Answer:Acer Aspire all-in-one desktop Wireless Keyboard not working

If it were me, I'd try the K/B on another computer. If it works, then you know the K/B is good and the issue must be the computer it's presently connected to. This would mean the issue is likely software(drivers). You might want to check the manufacturer's website and see if there are newer Windows 7 drivers for the device. If there are, download and install them and reboot and see if your K/B doesn't work then.It matters not how straight the gate,How charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate;I am the captain of my soul.***William Henley***

Sudden problem.

Left the laptop booted up.

Came back and nothing.

All I have now is the LEDs lighting up when I put the DC plug in but not boot. Once the plug is removed, the LEDs go out.
Any ideas?

I'm running Win10 Version 1607, Build 14393.1358 on a Dell 3650. My input devices are a Microsoft 'curvy' USB keyboard and a Logitech Wireless Trackman that has the little USB receiver plugged into another USB port.

My problem is not critical, just unusual and annoying. The green Num Lock and Caps Lock LEDs on the keyboard indicate properly while I am typing, but after about 5 seconds of keyboard inactivity, they go out. Not a big deal, but when resuming work, I can't simply glance down and see what's what... I have to hit a random key to wake them up for another 5 seconds.

Under Device Manager I see two entries under Keyboards, both are named HID Keyboard Device. One looks to be a 'standard' keyboard, the other is apparently the Logitech RF plug-in, which can accept a wireless keyboard, which I am not using, as well as the wireless trackball, which I am. Under Power Management on both, neither box is checked to save power or to wake the computer. Here's a screenshot:

This is the same USB keyboard I was using with a previous Vista system, and the LEDs worked 'normally' then. Is there something in Win10 that turns these LEDs off, and is it normal for this OS, or do I have a problem?

I don't know if this is hardware or software, so hopefully I picked the correct forum.

Occasionally my 3 keyboard LED's just come on and go back off. This doesn't seem to effect anything and I can't tell at all why it's doing it. The build is 3 weeks and everything is running well.

Is this a problem? It's an older MS PS/2 keyboard.

This has been happening for long time, even on a new machine.I've tried to isolate the culprit program but have been unsuccessful. And now suspect its an XP or hardware issue.xp/Pro, MS optical mouse, ms ergnonmic kbdduring input (type or mouse), often but not a set frequency, the keyboard will freeze and all three leds on the kbd will flash on for something less than a second. Freeze means any keys pressed during the flash are ignored.Depending on what keys are pressed during/?immedately before the freeze/ the input behavior (about 1 out of every 20 flahses) changes to a strange type of "Shift" select. eg in WinExplorer if one file name is highlighted, clicking any file name above it is the same as if the shift key was held down during the click.Likewise, if the up key is pressed 10 times -- the 10 files above the current selection will be highlighted. Press the down key? and the process reverses -- and will then will begun multiple selecting if you continue below the current selection. The selection point can't be changed -- its like a fixed reference point. This selection behavior is identical in any dialogue where selection is allowed (text in a document or notepad window, file names in a zip file, file names in a RAR file etc.) In IE the behavior is also similar: trying to click on a button will highlight all content between the current posn and where you click. Note: right click is essentially disabled ... I purchased an Acer Revo R3600 and although the instructions say plug in the USB mouse and keyboard the contents of the box contained a wireless version of mouse/keyboard.The mouse has a switch under and the keyboard has a button to press (for 1 second about) to connect.Thank goodness I had spare USB kit to run initial set up. I do not seem to be able to get the wireless mouse and keyboard to operate. Can anyone supply a fix? The box contained a dongle and game control which does work. (the game control switches on the dongle which shows a blue light.) Attempts to usethe mouse/keyboard which have new batteries have failed so far.

Recently brought a Acer Aspire M7711 from comet and today i brought a new HP 22" lcd monitor also from comet the model number is W2228H.So have set it all up and then i turned it on and seeing as first time have booted up obviously it asks you to put a few details in for vista anyhow i put batterys in the mouse and keyboard and inserted the supplied dongle and they both have a "connect button" on the bottom (mouse&keypad) so i've tryed pressing that even holding it down but nothing happens i did get a light on the mouse when i first put the batterys in, and same with the keyboard but then it just goes off ?. So i thought maybe if i use a usb keyboard and mouse until i set windows up then maybe it will recognise it but still nothing, so i am still stuck using my usb keyboard and mouse.am not sure what too do could they be faulty or am i missing something ?

Hello, I have an Acer laptop running on Windows 7 and the other day I spilled something on it while cooking. After cleaning it off (just with a cloth) most of the keys wouldn't work. The ones that did didn't wok correctly, i.e 'u' would be 'bu' and so on. The next day, none of the keys worked. I cleaned it with hand sanitizer, and some worked, but again there were messed up 'double keys.' It now seems that they are almost all dissasociated from their original keys. Like, F9 is now spacebar, 7 is enter, etc. I've already restored the computer to factory settings the way it was when I bought it, but its the same. How do you reset the keys?

Answer:Acer laptop Keyboard not working

Your problem is that the contacts on the underside are not clean and the small currents that make the contacts now are bleeding between contacts and causing unexpected results like the double entrys and changed entrys. The only way to fix this is to remove the battery, disassemble the lower computer parts, remove the keyboard and either clean all of the contacts and other sticky surfaces carefully with alcohol, or replace the keyboard and clean all other sticky surfaces. For MOST, this is a job for a professional. Tell him EXCATLY what happened so he knows what the job entails. This will probably not be an inexpensive repair and if it were an older machine it might not pay, but for a fairly new machine that otherwise works well, it probably pays. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I'm using windows 7 64-bit, I am typing with my father's laptop. Sorry for my bad english, anyway Thanks.
(And because I'm new here, i don't know if this is in the right or wrong section XD )

Answer:Acer Aspire E1-431 Keyboard is not working at all (All key).

Try using the keyboard on another computer and see if it works. If it's a USB keyboard, you should be able to use it on your father's laptop. If NO keys work on EITHER computer, the laptop is most likely ready for the garbage dump. I suppose you could try opening it up and cleaning it, but if it's not a very expensive keyboard I wouldn't even bother. Just replace it.

I'm pretty sure my Aspire PS-131 is an All In One rather than a notebook. Feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place. This morning, seemingly all of a sudden, my PS-131's bluetooth keyboard stopped working. I charged it until the light turned blue, but the tablet no longer registers the keyboard on the Bluetooth screen. Sometimes an Unknown device will appear on the bluetooth screen, but I can't connect to it. I have no idea what to do and I can't find anything online about it. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone else have an idea about where to begin? I've tried contacting Acer's live chat, but the serial number on my tablet isn't verifiable.

I can use the keyboard when starting in safe mode but not when windows starts??? The Tried reinstalling the driver but didn't work

Answer:Acer Aspire keyboard is not working

When Safe Mode works properly but Normal Mode does not, it typically means that a driver or some software has just been installed that is interfering with Normal Mode. The types of software that can do that are drivers, antivirus products, third-party firewall products, CD/DVD burning software or virtual CD/DVD software. If you can remember installing anything like that, uninstall it in Safe Mode then restart.

(i'm going to try and explain this the best i can)My Acer Aspire E15 laptop's keyboard has stopped working so I'm typing this with an external keyboard. I've only had this laptop it for a little over a year and having the keyboard just stop working is very dissapointing and a little frustrating. Anyway, I was wondering if there was any possibility of getting this repaired, because I've been informed that the keyboards of these laptops are connected to the motherboard in a way that would require getting a whole new motherboard just to replace the keyboard. I don't know if this is true or if there is anyway to repair my keyboard without replacing the whole **bleep** motherboard, so if anyone knows it would be awesome if you could help me out.

Answer:Acer Aspire E15 keyboard not working?

Not sure where they got that info. However you can replace the keyboard. That does take some doing. But I think a person would most likely replace the whole top part. That is track pad and all. I would say look on eBay for you type and see if they have any. When you take apart you remove power, battery, 14 or 16 screws from the bottom. Remove drive from the bay. Use old credit card to separate the 2 half. Then there is some ribbon cables that would need to be removed carefully. If you got the whole thing. Then put in New one same way you took out old. However if you just got the keyboard you will bee to take out 8 to 10 more screws peeling tape from the ribbon cables and to access the small screws then the keyboard can be removed. For me I would try and find whole top plate would be less work.James

My keyboard has started playing up. It started a while back but seems to be getting progressively worse. It misses out letters or suddenly repeats keys several times for no reason. I've tried updating drivers, unplugging, restarting and reconnecting to no avail. I've also checked the settings - sticky keys etc - but that doesn't see, to be it either. I read somewhere that there might be too many conflicting drivers so I checked and there seem to be 4 of them but I don't know whether they are for this keyboard or the on-screen keyboard which I'm now using. I wouldn't know which one to remove.

Hello

I have a slight problem at the moment, My brothers company have just purchased a new laptop and didnt realise that they were going to have problems running it with some of their job software as it was supplied with Windows 8 on.

They have purchased Windows 7 (so all the systems are the same) but since installing 7 the wireless card no longer works or is recognised.

I have had a look, It appears there are 3 variants of the Network adapter.
Acer Nplify 802.11 b/g/n
- Intel
- Broadcom
- Atheros

Acers website list the laptop as supporting Windows 7 and Windows 8 and have downloadable drivers on the site for 7 & 8 along with 32 and 64 bit versions.

Not being able to work out what card was installed (the Hardware vendor detection tool didnt pick any up) Iproceeded to test the drivers one at a time but cant get the laptop to recognise the card under Windows 7.

After doing a bit of reading I noticed someone had a similar issue that was rectified by installing the Woindows 8 Drivers,

I have tried this, 2 of them would install but one said it wasnt supported under Windows 7 but still no network card detected.

When it was purchased the laptop was able to access the internet using the Wireless card running pre installed Windows 8.

Could anyone help shed some light on a possible fix?

Thanks for reading this (and thanks in advance for any responses)

reboot your computer and after your bios has done its check, before windows begins to load, press F8 to access the advanced boot options. You can try to boot last known good configuration from there.
See it that helps first

Please help. I am running windows 10. My keyboard worked today, then it quit this evening. Mouse and online keyboard work. Restarted a couple of times, filter keys is off. Doesn't work even when entering my password . I tried updating, troubleshooting, can't think of anything else to try . I bought this laptop Dec 24 online , didn't receive it until in the New Year, had it less then a month . Thank You .

Answer:Acer E5-532-P86K keyboard quit working

To troubleshoot the issue, check if reinstalling keyboard drivers help (if you have not done this already). To do this, follow the steps below:1. Click "Windows key" + "R" keys and click Ok to open "Run" window.2. In the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and click OK.3. In the "Device Manager" window that comes up, navigate to "Keyboards" and expand the tree. Click on your keyboard model and properties window will come up.4. Go to "Driver" tab and click "Uninstall" to uninstall your keyboard drivers.5. Restart your system and Windows will automatically find and install your keyboard drivers. If the issue still persists, you are advised to contact nearest Acer service center for further assistance as your laptop is new. To do this, the following link can be helpful:http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service Hope this will help you.

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and have a request for help,

I have an Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3-581TG with the following spec:

Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3-581TG NX.RYKEK.010

Except i'm running windows 7 and have just the 500GB HD on its own.

I only have had it since christmas and have been VERY happy with its performance so far...

BUT lastnight I switched it on and the keyboard and touchpad is completely unresponsive, when I went into control panel-hardware-keyboard there was a red "x" symbol beside it and when I ran a diagnostic on it it stated the driver wasn't installed properly and searched itself for a fix, It seemed to find something and tried installing it but then reported it wasn't installed properly.

I restored the laptop to two different previous restore points with no effect and so have since undid all restores (using the onscreen keyboard and a mouse).

I have tried pressing F2/F6/F8 on startup but with no effect....

I have seen a fix that has seemed to work for people where they disconnect the power lead and battery, press and hold the power button for 30-45 secs, connect just the battery and reboot, however my battery is internal and can't be clipped out like most laptops...

I'm running out of ideas and most driver update sites seem to be a trick to get you to install their software for free then charge you for anything else so any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, I don't want to have to get an external HDD, back everythin... Read more

Try the following drivers.
Oddly enough, I could not find official keyboard drivers for your model, only touchpad drivers.
I'm assuming that your keyboard uses a windows included driver.

These are for Windows 7 64bit.

I just recently encountered a problem with my Acer Aspire E3-112 notebook keyboard that I had been able to fix and would like to share the solution with anyone who may encounter the same problem. I had used a USB flash drive to copy some files without any issues. Shortly afterwards, I noticed that the 8 key on the keyboard had stopped responding, but all other keys worked as normal. I had pressed Fn-F11 (NumLk) and the 8 key started working again. Pressing Fn-F11 again disabled the NumLk mode, and the 8 key also stopped working again. I tried rebooting the notebook, shutting down and powering back up, reinstalling keyboard driver, etc, but nothing worked. To rule out Windows OS related settings, I rebooted into BIOS, and noticed that the 8 key still didn't work when I tried to change the time, but the other number keys worked fine. The solution that finally solved the problem was to shut down the notebook, and then using a paper clip, push it into the Batery reset pinhole on the bottom of the notebook for four seconds. Upon normal powerup, the 8 key started working again. If your notebook has a removable battery, then removing and reinstalling the battery might have the same effect.

Thanks for sharing. I've seen the battery reset fix a number of issues, but nothing as odd as the 8 key from working.

Hi,
Welcome to the forums, go to control panel, uninstall "Launch Manager" in Programs, download from here and re-install it:
Download Drivers and Manuals | Acer Official Site
Try different drivers for synaptics, for example, Acer Aspire E1-572 Synaptics Touchpad Driver 17.0.6.13 for Windows 8.1 64-bit Drivers download - Synaptics Software Update
EDIT:
If you find ETD Ware in Programs, right click and uninstall it, that's your Elantech but I couldn't see it in your Device manager.

Hello. I am hoping that someone will have a solution to some weirdnesses going on with my Acer 5050. It came with Vista but I reformatted the hard drive and installed XP. Everything had been going smoothly until I decided to download Service Pack 3. While Service Pack 3 was downloading my network hiccuped or something and Service Pack 3 was aborted mid download. After that happened the computer was a complete mess, so I reformatted the hard drive and re-installed XP. I am now at the point of downloading all MS XP updates, virus protection, anti-spyware etc.

The problem I seem to be having is sometimes after a reboot the touchpad and keyboard will not work. An external wireless mouse will though. I find if I do a reboot both the touchpad and the keyboard will come back to life but often when the touchpad and keyboard will not work the computer will not reboot, I must pull out the battery to get the silly machine to reboot.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Brenda

here's two drivers i found, but im not quite sure which one is the right one, you should try the newest one first and see if it works, if it doesnt then try the older one.

Hi,
My neighbours computer is an Acer Aspire 6920G that is 9 months old, it has just come back from the store she brought it at and still has the same issue.
It runs Vista Home Premium, which I am not familiar with.
The machine boots fine, but does not recognise the keyboard, touchpad, and now has no sound drivers or options.
The machine was not sold with a Vista disc, just a generic recovery disc that does not allow me to use the SFC /scannow or repair console.
I am familiar with XP to intermediate, but never used Vista before.

Can anyone please help

Hi, I regularly connect to the internet and to the office VPN via a wireless connection. I had not used the ethernet connection/ LAN card in a while. In the interim i had to open my laptop to clean out the dust from the vents.(More detail on that is available at the following link: http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=Z_Series_Thinkpads&thread.id=414&view=by_date_as...) I believe putting it back together somehow made the LAN card non-functional. It is detectable in BIOS and also in the Control Panel > Systems but whenever any network cable is inserted, the LAN card's LEDs do not start flashing and no new network is detected. I have tried to check network connectivity with and without the power supply plugged into the machine. I have also tried restarting but that has not helped. Any suggestions on this would be a big help. thanks

Answer:Z61T: LAN card LEDs not working/ No network detected

Hey 2617, I find it odd that the led link/activity indicators near the port don't light up at all when connected. They should light up when connected regardless if the network card has been disabled/enabled in Windows. With that said, i'm assuming it's a physical problem, either with the net cable, network switch/hub, or the actual port in the laptop. If you connect something other than your laptop to the cable/switch/hub, does that device grab an IP? or have a link/activity light?

Hi hope you can help me out TimW from malware sent me over here. After removing some nasty malware from a friends computer I still cannot get a wireless connection I can however get a wired connection. Also the network connection always says connected with an excellent signal.

She has an Acer Aspire laptop running Win XP Home service pack 3, 32 bit OS.

I have checked her network adapters and they don't seem to have anything wrong with them any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Wireless not working on acer laptop

You stated that you could get a connection when you were hard wired to "your" router. Is that correct? But you can't get a connection either hard wired or wirelessly through her router? Is that the case? If so, you have tried resetting her router to factory settings?

Here's what's been going on...recently my laptop's wireless has been having problems connecting to our wireless motem, however it was able to connect to a different one that was farther away and have internet access! So we tried reinstalling the driver which required a factory reset on the laptop and well...not only did that NOT help but now it's failing to detect ANY network! Help... (and I've tried to see if it was a worm virus but it seems now, that is not the case.)

Answer:Urg! My Acer Aspire One wireless not working! ><;

Does a factory reset mean that you re-installed the operating system ?
May we see two things :
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

And:
Let’s take a look at the status of the network adapters

Device manager:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?
4. should be enabled and working properly.
5. If error code,what is it ?

It would be best if you could post a screen shot of Device Manager with the Network adapters and Other devices sections expanded.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can... Read more

I am currently facing a problem with my Satellite U400 which runs on Windows Vista / Bios v3.00.
First of all, the Control Buttons do not work anymore, as when I press them nothing happens anymore. It used to be that when pressed, the LED would go off for a moment and then come back to life.

Now, the LEDs are permanently turned on. Even when the laptop is powered off and the cable is removed.

So far I tried to enable and disable the LED option in the Bios (which enabled and disabled the LED on the touch pad and the Satellite logo, but not on the control buttons). I uninstalled and reinstalled the Value Pack from the recovery CD - no change. I deleted and reinstalled the Windows Devices called: ACPI Fixed Feature Button (thought this might help).

Is there anything else I could do?

Once the problem is solved, I wonder whether the control buttons can be customised. For some reason I don't seem to find the appropriate programme to set those.

Thank you for any input.

Answer:Control Buttons and LEDs not working correclty - Satellite U400

Hi

Someone has suggested this workaround:
You have to install the control utility firstly, and when install the Value Pack, choose advanced, and uncheck TOSHIBA Button Support.

Hi, I've got an Acer Aspire S3-391 running Windows 7 64 bit, and I recently updated my wireless network adapter (Atheros AR5BMD222) to the latest version 10.0.0.274 as recommended by Acer's website. After updating the driver, I can no longer connect to my home wifi. When I try to connect, I get the message that no wireless connections are available (even though all my other devices can see the wifi network) and when I diagnose the problem, it says that there might be a problem with the wireless network adapter and that windows couldn't automatically bind the ip stack protocol. I've tried uninstalling the new driver and reinstalling the old one and running a system restore to before installing the new driver, both with no luck. When I try to manually configure a wireless connection, I get "an unexpected error ocurred" message. I have automatic DNS and IP address set, and when I look at my ipconfig IP, DNS, DHCP, etc all have addresses. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi,i bought my acer aspire 5040 off of a friends a few weeks ago, and it was running kinda slow, but everything was working fine. the sound, the display, and the wireless internet was also working fine. just yesterday i decided to format it and now i'm having trouble with the wireless connection. i downloaded all the other drivers from acer's website and they all worked fine, i downloaded the wifi driver and installed it, and the device manager says that it's installed properly and that it's enabled and all that, but my problem is that now, i can't enable the wifi, it was working perfectly fine before i formatted it, and i haven't dropped it or opened the laptop or anything so i doubt it's a hardware problem, when i press the wireless button, the orange light doesn't turn on, and the wireless network connection windows says to make sure the switch is on,thanks in advance for any help

Answer:Acer 5040 Wireless Button not working

I think the control of these non-standard buttons is handled by software acer provide. Do you have a piece of software provided with the PC called Launch Manager? If not, it should be available to download from acer's website. I recall that Launch Manager may be involved in control of the wireless button.Acer downloads: click here

Hi all,

Just to say that if anyone has the same problem with the wireless not appearing to work with windows 7, I have found out that if you use the normal status bar (bottom right) and select your access point, and type in your key, this will not work. You have to do it on the manual setup of the network and type in the access point and key there with your desired security and then windows 7 will actually connect to the wireless access point.

hope that helps.

Dont know if your still having this issue, but if you are what is the make of your keyboard?

Does it have latest driver installed?

Also I have heard that at times the Ease of Access function which is the on-screen keyboard will enable and disable a wireless keyboard so to double check this and disable the on-screen one, follow the below.

Press the WinKey + U keys together to open the Ease of Access Center > click on use the Computer without a mouse or keyboard 3rd one down under Explore all Settings. Then on next page uncheck the box which says Use On-Screen Keyboard click save and hopefully your wireless keyboard is back working.

I have a new wiresless keyboard to go with my new pc. The keyboard however doesnt seem to want to work. It is an a4tech GR-85, I know, lucky me :p. The wireless mouse it came with is all set up and working so the problem isnt the dongle. The keyboard device properties say device configured and device started but the keyboard still does nothing. I think the keyboard may be faulty but I would like to be certain before I seek a replacement. Any help would be appreciated, and please feel free to laugh at my lack of technical knowledge in the mean time. Thank you.

So, the problem in a nut shell is this...

I was watching video on my pc last week when it crashed for some unknown reason, ever since then my wireless usb keyboard is not working!

Ive tried going to Device Manager and uninstalling it that way, then plugging the usb in again so that windows automatically installs it again, but it remains unresponsive!!

Any ideas how i can get it working again??

Thanks

Answer:Wireless keyboard key not working

Hi, Does new keyboard have a dongle to go with it ? One reason they don't connect (old kb and new kb): they need to talk with the receiver and they need some sorts of code to pair. You can't simply connect any kb to the existing receiver. Just thinking about 20 persons in a same room. All mice and all keyboards can talk with all receivers. Regards.
