Lenovo T440 Missing 4GB based memorty

Question: Lenovo T440 Missing 4GB based memorty

Hello All, Lenovo T440 as per data sheet should have a 4GB base memory soldered. I added an 8GB memory. When I look at in WIndows, the only memory shown is between 7GB to 8GB. Why can't windows see the 4GB based memory?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Lenovo T440 Missing 4GB based memorty

I believe some boards have soldered memory and some do not.

I have a Nokia cell phone and two memory cards for it. One is the mini SanDisk SD card and the other is also a mini Nokia SD card. Now i have adapter for these cards so i could place those cards in my memory card reader on my laptop.

Now the interesting part comes. When i place the mini Nokia SD card into the adapter and then into the computer i recognizes it and i can transfer stuff.

But when i place the mini SanDisk SD card into the adapter and then into the computer it recognizes it. Though when i try to transfer stuff over from my computer to the card or vise versa it gives me an error saying cant write F: drive. Now my lock switch is off on the adapter, so i dont know how come am getting this error? It also states to take the write protection off. I dont know how to take it off, because it already should be off? Also i would like to mention that the adapter is SanDisk. Dont know if that makes a difference.

So please can anyone help me with this problem. How do i fix the card so i can transfer my stuff? Also does card have to be altered or reset while in the cell phone? Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks

Answer:memorty card not recognized by the computer

Welcome to TSF....

THere may be a difference in format on the two cards that they both will work in the cell and be recognized in the computer but still one might not be accessible. I would contact the Nokia tech suppport about this they should know the answer.

Is you windows xp fat32 or ntfs?

What service pack do you have installed?

Hello all, So a little while ago I upgraded the RAM in this T440 with a 8GB stick. Everything was working fine. I had all 12GB working perfectly. At some point in the last three weeks I noticed that the laptop was running slow with Chrome and Photoshop open. Couldn't figure out what was going on. A couple days later I needed to check the Computer properties and noticed it said 4GB of RAM installed. Popped out the stick, booted it up with the on-board 4GB and it started up. Popped it back in and it still boots but still only sees the on-board memory. Check the BIOS and it only sees the on-board memory. I would think that it would not POST properly if it couldn't use the RAM that was installed. Is there something wrong here? I literally just went to Best Buy and picked up a stick. I'm guessing I need a particular RAM stick?

Answer:Lenovo T440 - new ssd is no showing up anywhere

In the BIOS, you should see the drive under STARTUP/BOOT. If you cannot see it, try putting your old drive back to be sure you didn't break anything. The new drive could be DOA

T440 shuts off in:WindowsBIOSPXEThis happens if the AC Adapter (tried multiple) is plugged in, not plugged in. I've also un plugged the internal battery, same problem happens. I've tried new RAM, resetting CMOS connection, no SSD. It always shuts off. I've noticed that the CPU fan comes on right at power up but shuts down after and am not sure if this is normal or not.  Any ideas?

Hi all, recently I bought Lenovo t440. How long should last battery (s) in this laptop in normal or power saving use with screen at 65-80 %? I know this laptop have two batteries , and both of them are 3 cell right ? Extended battery have 6 cell, which I don't have, but might I would  buy it . I noticed my both batteries last max 3,5 hours max 4. This is from I what know - slightly short.  Before I buy some of this batteries I would like to know which one is maybe fault, or worst of them. Maybe is faulty inside battery, maybe plug in one.  My battery indicator in win 8.1 shows both bAtteries ... It seems windows recognize capacity or remaining storage from both of batteries in same time,or, should I say, it seems my laptop is running on power from both of them in real time... Maybe laptop should drain batteries one by one ? Ok, if this is normal, let's skip it     main question is still, how to check each batterie health / or one by one in mY T440  to see which one is maybe faulty or less good, for potential replacement ?   thank you all

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T440 and the batteries are showing battery error in the Power Manager. I am unable to update my BIOS to see if that will solve it and my batteries don't seem to be eligible for a Firmware update. My Warranty is also expired. Anyone have any suggestions? error is showing up on both batteries  (Front internal and rear removable). Laptop works fine when plugged in but will not power on if it does not have a charger connected. Batteries don't charge at all (With or without it being powered on) All suggestions welcome. Would prefer not to have to get a new battery set as these ones are relatively new and shouldn't be throwing this error. I do not have a spare Thinkpad I can test the batteries in or that I can test a known good battery from.

Hey Guys,I'm trying to hookup my Thinkpad T440 to my HDTV via a displayport to hdmi converter, than a regular hdml cable from the converter to the TV. The video works fine, but the audio has been an issue. Just doing some cursory browsing of the forums, it seems like there are a few things at play here, mainly 1) problems with individual converters, and 2) whether or not the laptop itself supports audio passthrough over the displayport. So my question is this, before I start buying different converters to see if it works, does the T440 with integrated Intel 4400 graphics even support audio pass through over the displayport? That piece of information does not seem readily available anywhere I look, especially for this specific model number (not the T440s). If so, anyone know which converter is giving people the best luck? Thanks for the help.

Answer:Lenovo T440 and Displayport Audio

As a quick addendum to the post (I didn't see an edit button), to summarize I understand that audio will be passed through if the laptop supports it. Thats the response I found in other threads.I am specifically asking how to find out if my laptop "supports it" (aside from buying random cables just to try and cross your fingers), which is the T440 Thinkpad with integrated Intel 4400 graphics. Thanks!

What is the recommendation for running windows on these laptops. Windows 7 or 8? Im running windows 7 and see alot of instability and freezes. I downloaded lenovo update manager for any critical updates. So all drivers are up2date. Im just wondering whether windows 8 will be better? The laptop is top spec i7 8gb ram so im baffled on why I am getting poor performance by just doing minimal tasks (opening word documents, excel , skype).

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system freezing on your ThinkPad T440.

Check if there is any virus in your system, you can use Microsoft security essential to scan.
Run Lenovo Solutions Center and run hardware scan to verify if there is any hardware issue in the system.
Boot the system into safe mode option and check if the system freezes in that also?
Perform clean boot option.

Hope this helps.

Hey, just tried to install an SSD drive into my T440 today and had to change the boot priorities in BIOS. Wasn't able to do so as it is asking for a password (and for the fingerprint first), and if simply pressed enter - it goes into BIOS but won't let change anything.Obviously I can't remember what the password is otherwise I wouldn't be typing here. Oddly enough it recognizes my fingerprint (thanks for that), but still need a password (?). Any solution? Am I missing something here? ThanksVictor

Answer:Lenovo T440 BIOS password reset

The only "fix" is to remember the password, otherwise you need to replace the motherboard

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T440. I have replaced the trackpad with an older style trackpad, after putting everything back together it seemed as if everything was fine, but then I noticed that the delete key, PgUp, PgDn and PrtSc were not working. Note, the delete key does not respond even when I'm in the BIOS. I find it very hard to believe that I've damaged the keyboard and thus the functionality of some keys has been lost, I have examined the connecting ribbon cable and connection socket carefully, they are undamaged and free of debree. Can anyone give me any other suggestions? An external USB keyboard works fine.Delete Key doesn't work in BIOS.

Hello,If there is somebody who could help me with this issue, I would really appreciate it.I have recieved at work a lenovo t440 notebook, everything worked fine, untill one day I noticed that I cannot conect to the internet via lan cable. I plug in the cable and it is not detected. I checked the cable to another notebook and it was working. I have a Intel Ethernet Connection I218-LM controller, I have re-installed both network drivers from lenovo and intel websites and nothing helps. I've tried as well to get automatically from windows update, no result. Went to bios cheked if the lan connection is enabled, everything was in place. Is there anything I missed? I noticed a weird behaviour, if I connect through wireless network, after sometime the lan connection is established and I can use it, but without wireless connection it doesn't work. Any suggestions what could have caused this issue?Thank you,Mark

Hi all, I have a problem with the Fn key on my T440. It appears that the Fn key is hijacking the entire keyboard and doesn't let go regardless of what I do. I have toggled and played around every option in the bios including enabling/disabling FnLock, Sticky Fn, and Ctrl/Fn swap to no avail. The way the Fn key is hijacking everything is as follows. ESC key *always* toggles Fn lock on its own, so I don't have an ESC key at all. When the Fn key's light is off, the keyboard (alpha and num keys) don't type anything, but it seems like the keys are sending keycodes which should be sent when combined with Fn. In other words, when I press the 's' key, for example, I don't see anything typed, but a 'OneDrive' window pops up instead. This tells me the hardware key is fine and is getting pressed, but the computer assumes the Fn key is pressed *at all times* even though the Fn light is off. This happens with every key on the keyboard. Additionally, if the Fn light is off, the F1-F12 keys work as F1-F12 keys, which is expected (even though, at the same time, the alphanumeric keys don't work as expected). And if the Fn light is on, the F1-F12 keys initiate their special function, again, as expected. I can toggle Fn light by pressing only the ESC key, as mentioned. I have also installed every driver on the face of planet that is related to my model from lenovo support site. Nothing helps. I'm now typing this with a usb keyboard plugged into the laptop. This seems to... Read more

BSOD happens periodically when I clamshell my new laptop.
I've followed other threads and am attaching the file generated a log file (attached).

I've installed the Lenovo tools and updated all drivers and bios.

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Lenovo t440 BSOD after closing the lid (hibernate selected)

The BSOD blames the driver to Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. Can you update it? It seems that the Intel? PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth? technology for Windows 7* 64-bit (WP) and Intel? PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 7* will work for you. Try to install ithose.

Also free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus and the touchpad driver SynTPEnh.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Report us for any further BSOD after doing these two.

Hello everyone.Be happy to be part of your community, but not to happy to create my first post because of some problem my notebook is causing.I bought a "new" lenovo, (it's not new, actually it was made in august 2014, but first time opened in january 2015.) thinkpad T440, but from the very first time, it causes me pain in my eyes. As a 15,6" laptop user, I thought, the problem is that it's smaller display so my eyes need to adapt. But after 10 days of pain, i thought that 10 days are enough to make my eyes adapt for such display. Next what i thought was that my previous laptop Ideapad Y580 resolution which was FHD 1920x1080, is bigger than one i have now (just basic HD ready 1366x768), is causing me problems for my eyes. Again, not true because I tried to work on some other laptop just to try which were HD ready too, and no problems detected. After that, I started to google a little bit and I found, that it could possibly be, that PWM is causing me an eye strain. Well, something about it can be true, because as i put my display to full brightness, i was feeling more relaxed on eyes, than when brightness was lower. I recorded screen on mobile and I was able to evidently see that there were "grey" stripes refreshing trough display (lower the brightness, the bigger the stripes). But I was not able to find anywhere, that this model T440 can cause such problems. Even on notebookcheck they say:"Lenovo uses pulse width modulation (PWM) for the brightness control of the reviewed dis... Read more

Hi everyone, I need some much needed help with this issue.  I have a Lenovo T440, brand new, out of the box fresh that I setup for a user in my office.  Here are the following steps that I have completed so far:  -- Upgraded the RAM to 8GIG--Transfered over user profile using WET (Windows Easy Transfer)--Applied Updates --Installed Symantec Anti Virus Protection  The 1st set of problems after I initally setup the unit. The laptop had issues with Windows updates were it would just hang constantly during the update process, mostly during the "Preparing to Configure" part. What I did was remove Windows Security Essentials and afterwards the updates ran without a problem.  The 2nd set of problems started happening today. The laptop is docked to a native docktng station, but the monitors will turn off and on again. I searched these forums and found that it may be a driver issue. I will try this solution out later today.  The 3rd set of problems has to do with Outlook Home and Business 2010. The user sometimes cannot see e-mails in the "Reading Pane" and sometimes he cannot get the BCC feature to show the Global Address List. Also, his keyboard will stop working while trying to type an e-mail.  The T440 that is being used right now is actually the 2nd model that I have received, because I had to RMA the 1st one. Does anyone have any insight into these issues? Much thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo T440 Multiple Issues, Outlook, Displays

Greetings, On your 2nd issue what information did you find about driver issues?  I have 7 new t440P laptops and one is having problems with dual montiors when using a lenovo pro dock.  My laptops are built from the same image so I don't understand why I have not experienced the problem elsewhere.  Windows 7 - 32 bit The user describes it as the monitors shutting off briefly or doing a deguass.  It happens randomly, on both monitors at the same time and doesn't seem to be a problem when un-docked. I have yet to actually see it happen myself. I've tried diagnosing it as a hardware problem and have done the following so far: Flipped the VGA and DVI cables on the orginal LCDs.Replaced VGA and DVI cables on the orginal LCDs.Replaced the orginal LCDs with new LEDs.Had user remove additional USB devices from machine.Replaced the dock.Moved the hard drive from the orginal t440p to another t440p.Replaced the power supply to the dock.Replaced power strip everything is plugged into. After each step the problem happened again. Currently I am trying to run a extension cord from a different power source to see if that has any effect on the issue since I have not been able to resolve the problem as of yet.  I have not done anything with drivers or software since that didn't seem like a productive road to follow. Device driver info: Inter HD 4600, ver: 9.18.10.3272

Hi!  3 weeks ago, I bought a new T440 laptop. It is one of those that have the buttons for trackpoint users painted on the touchpad. Because I prefer the trackpoint, I've disabled the touchpad function, so now it is only used for left- and right-clicks. Unfortunately, in the last week or so, the left-click function has become poorer and poorer. Sometimes it works with the first click, but often I have to click twice for something to happen, sometimes even 3-5 times. When it doesn't work, I have to use some force and not just click, but rather hit the touchpad with my thumb. That usually gets the click through. But it's time consuming and annoying, because I never know how many clicks it will take to open anything. Right-click seems to be working fine, but I also don't use it that often.  I have 3 years of warranty on this computer, but I bought it in Estonia, as I was visiting my family for a week. Now I'm back in Germany where I study and I'm not sure I can use the warranty here.... Right now, the only solution would be buying an external mouse, but I have to be mobile with my laptop and a mouse would be a nuisance anywhere other than at my own desk.  I would be very thankful for any ideas on how to solve this problem or even just for information on what might be causing the problem.

I'm debating whether to send back my T510.  Your experience with Lenovo will help guide me. Reason to keep it:1) Problems aside, I still really like it   It's fairly fast, has a great keyboard, nifty features, great feel, etc.  Thinkpads rule.2) I need a laptop for business, and I need one now. I'll have to buy a different one if I send this back, and I picked this one because I liked it best.  So if I return it I'll have to settle for something like an HP 8450.3) I just want to get on with doing business and stop the ^&%[email protected]!ing support issues already. Reasons to send it back:1) Broken switchable graphics.  Perhaps not a deal killer, but annoying to have paid for it and not gotten it.2) Keyboard problems (for now) though hopefully they'll be fixed with a new keyboard.  Unfortunately, it's back ordered....3) The longer I keep it, the more of a PITA it will be to move to a new laptop.4) If I have to send it in and wait for Lenovo to fix it, I'll be even more annoyed. THE QUESTIONS (help me with your input!)1) Is a new keyboard likely to fix my problem?  Do other T510 owners have the problem?  If I could have some confidence that this would be fixed, then I'd be willing to wait.2) Is Lenovo going to fix the switchable graphics issue through software?  Again, if i could have some confidence that this was going to be fixed in a week or two, I wouldn't care. Y'all know Lenovo better than I .  What would you do... Read more

Answer:Hey folks, can I get your advice based on lenovo experiences?

i don't think the T510 have switchable graphics, i thought the only one to retain that was the T410s.  There is no other alternative keyboards, since the laptop is not compatible with the T61 type keyboards. The only way to get away from the flex issue, is to to stick felt pads to the area directly beneath the keyboards that is flexing, this was how people dealt with the perforated keyboard problem. And from what i hear and saw it is quite a clever and simple solution to this problem.

Hello there! So I just got the 59392578 model and have been having a few issues right off the bat so here are my questions that I would REALLY appreciate if they get answered.1.) (most pressing issue)  I've made Just Cause 2 run on this laptop but the game runs at around 14 fps no matter what setting I put it on and from the specs it should be able to run at high settings no problem! This is also an issue for manny other games like Skyrim or Need for Speed. It feels like the 755m isn't being used and instead the computer is using the integrated intel card.2.) Many games like Garry's mod and Mirrors Edge open and then freeze. I feel like this is also relatable to the first question.3.) In all games, it feels like there is a .5 sec delay on ever action other than just moving the mouse.Ex: League of Legends, I use a skill shot with nidalee and the action is delayed making playing almost impossible.Answers/links to what should solve these issues would be amazing. thank you!

I?ve recently bought a new Lenovo Yoga Laptop 300S-11IBR, N3710, 4Gb RAM 64Gb SSD , 1G LAN.The problem is when Lenovo turning back ON (from reboot or power off), it?s (kind of) HANGs the XMOS USB device (XMOS not responding anymore), and the Audio device needs to be restarted (to be recognized by any PC).After some investigation, I?ve found out that after turning off the laptop, USB device (inside the Lenovo) switches OFF (Red LED in the XMOS device), but after a few seconds switches back ON (Green LED in the XMOS device). The simple solution is to disconnect the USB cable before pressing the power (ON) button, and then connecting it back (until the next power on). Any ideas ?

Hi, I logged my ThinkPad problem with Lenovo Helpdesk and was told that my base product warranty had lapsed in Feb 2017. However, my wife reminded me that my ThinkPad was purchased in April 2016 and not Feb 2016. When I purchased my ThinkPad in April 2016, was instructed to register within 7 days for the warranty online via Lenovo website. Went through the steps and was happy that my ThinkPad's warranty was captured. However, now it seems like there is a discrepancy of 2 months for the warranty. Btw, still having the original box which my ThinkPad came with and checked the label on the box. The ThinkPad was manufactured in Feb 2016. I had called in to Lenovo today on this warranty issue and asking them to check my original registration of warranty in April 2016. What happened to the record? Also why was the Manufacturing date of the ThinkPad used for the warranty? Even if I had not registered my ThinkPad warranty when I purchased it and the systems automatically used its manufacturing date, shouldn't the Helpdesk agent advised the customer and asked for the purchased date rather than stating as a matter of fact that the systems warranty period is correct without asking the customer? Is this to reduce their liability and reduce costs at the expense of Lenovo's customers? Hence, just to share with all of you to verify your warranty instead of trusting Lenovo to capture your original warranty registration when you purchased any Lenovo product.&... I'm trying to reinstall the Microsoft Subsystem for UNIX based applications on my Windows 7 Enterprise work PC after having lost a hard drive and it seems
that the links to the Utilities and SDK for Windows 7 are no longer working.

Here is the technet article I've been using, https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771672.aspx ,and the referenced link to the Utilities and SDK for SUA package at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=139521  just returns a "Sorry
the Page requested can not be found result. I did see over on the Vista/Server 2003 download page for the SDK that it gives an alternate link to the Windows 7 installer of http://www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=2391 which also returns the same "Page
not found" result as the first link. The Windows 8/Server 2012 page does not reference any links back to the windows 7 version... it just appears this SDK is just gone. Any suggestions on where the SDK for Windows 7 has gone so I can get this reinstalled?

I'm cross posting this over to the TechNet section since the Microsoft Community suggested it would be more appropriate. The initial post to Community was at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-winapps/subsystem-for-unix-based-applications-missing/908c5fbf-0fb1-435a-9fde-8a0394724242

Does anyone know the mfg or have any experience with the recently released Lenovo 256GB SSD w/FDE Part # 0A65620?

I mistakenly posted a more detailed question about this in the Options and Accessories board at the link below and don't know how to move it to this board?

Here is the link to the actual Lenovo SDD in question:

Answer:For my W520: Lenovo 256GB SSD /FDE hardware-based AES-256 encryption Part # 0A65620

Has anyone tried this May 2012 released Lenovo #0A65620 256GB SSD with FDE hardware-based AES-256 encryption? http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=PD023763 I'm wondering if it may be the Samsung 830 SSD with a Samsung MCX (non-Sandforce) Controller and customized to include FDE hardware-based AES-256 encryption per special Lenovo specs? The Samsung 830 SSD units sold to consumers did not have FDE, but the newly released 840 and 840 Pro Samsungs now have FDE hardware-based AES-256 encryption in the consumer released versions plus 3 and 5 year warranties respectively vs. only one year warranty on the Lenovo SSD above.  The 840 series also have the newer Samsung MDX non-Sandforce controllers.Thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated because I bought a newly released 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD with hardware-based AES-256 encryption and a 5 year warranty but I'm still concerned about official Lenovo compatibility with my W520 and any impact on my ThinkPad's warranty if I don't use a Lenovo SSD, etc. So far the 840 Pro is working fine but I'm still wondering if this was a no-no regarding compatible SDDs for the W520. Thanks._____________________________

This is sort of a bug report. A Lenovo X131e with Windows 7 x64 and the PL2303 driver including 1.6, 1.61 and 1.7 will not successfully install the driver - Windows always reports "Driver Install Failed" on plug in to USB 3 or USB2 ports. However, putting a USB2.0 hub inbetween the USB to Serial Adapter and either USB port type makes the adapter work fine. This was not the case with the X130e. I'm not sure where to report this beyond this posting, but more of an FYI.

Answer:Lenovo X131e doesn't work with Prolific PL2303 based USB to Serial Adapter and Windows 7 x64

If the USB can be used for other equipment,That may be compatibility issues for USB and Prolific PL2303.Don't plug Serial Adapter when installing the driver,Ofter installation, Connect serial adapter to see whether it is working normally.

I recieved my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e a couple of days ago and it came with a lot of bloatware, or at least what I thought was. I started uninstalling a lot and everything seemed to work fine. I restarted it, but when it came back, I noticed the touch screen would not work. I went into the Device Manager and realized that one of my I2C drivers had the triangle with the exclamation was on one of them. After trial and error, I realized that disabling and re-enabling the driver would allow my touch screen to work. After a restart, however, I was back to square one. My wife bought her the same Lenovo Yoga and I have been compairing the two. I just noticed that I am missing the I2C controllers in the System Devices in the Device Manager as well. I have tried booting from an installation from hers and even copying the drivers and System32 folder to no avail. If anybody has any solutions, please help. I have tried everything I knew and everything I could find. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e missing I2C driver. Drivers from lenovo website not working.

Hello and welcome,

What happens when you install the i2c driver for your machine?  Before doing so please verify the machine type (20D9, 20DA) as there's another machine type option available.  Downloads found by using SUPPORT above and entering Yoga 11e.

Create Icon on desktop to open a websiteYa, I?ve done that for ever and it works great. But today I was on a chat with Norton support he was on my pc remotely trying to fix a LAN Proxy problem. He uninstalled several problem malware programs and installed some other programs including Google Chrome. After he was off the system I was checking around my HP Laptop and noticed the the Desktop Icons with Apps on the PC worked but all the web based icons did not work anymore. I did the procedure like I had many times before from a web site but the Icon just will not work at all. The error I get on all of them is when I click on the icon to open itIs Application Not Found.I?ve never seen this one before but I?ll keep trying to find the solution unless one of you gentlemen have a answer for me, I do plan on uninstalling Google Chrome and testing the icons again to see if that might have something to do with it?Thanks.Rod [email protected]

I hope I can explain this clearly.....just need a little help on this.

We have a input form that writes a date to a table for each day that a truck driver turns in his paperwork (actually a "drivers log" for those familiar with trucking). What I want to do is make a report based on the dates that the paperwork IS NOT turned in. How can I compare the data that I have in the table with a "calendar" and show what days are missing?
Thanks!
Peter

Answer:Report based on dates "missing" in an Access table

Depends. Is that field then NULL or does it have a default value or something?

You can try a query to find out. In that date field, put the criteria: is null

There's also "is not null" (for your info).

Answer:Lenovo drivers missing Lenovo DEV IDs

The card reader is broken because of a bug, which changes the device id from 823 to 822 when rebooting from linux. If you shut down and power up, the bug is not present. Still, for reference here is the correct INF for the card reader, which supports both 823 and 822 ids: [Ricoh]
%R5U822Desc%=R5U822_Inst,PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E822
%R5U822Desc%=R5U822_Inst,PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E823

Thanks in advance!

Answer:x64-based processor, but x86-based PC; can I upgrade to x64 bit?

No you cannot upgrade a 32-bit system to a 64-bit one. You can however, clean install a 64-bit system instead of the 32-bit one.

Answer:Wndows 10 x86,x86 based PC but x64 based processor,can it go x64

It could be because of some driver or other HW but if processor is 64bit (and it is), 64bit OS should run on it without problems.

marco_power, welcome to the forum, it would be helpful if you could post which T60 and Operating System you have, even better post the Type and Model Number this will help members to help you. If it ends in CTO please provide some details about your T60. Please do NOT post your s/n. There is an options button at the bottom when you open ThinkVantage Energy Manager which enables you to select "show the battery icon...", please ensure it is selected. I would also suggest reinstalling the power manager and then visit this site,  there could be some usefull tips / help there for you.  Hope this helps

Hello, I have recently bought a Lenovo Z500 Ideapad. The product itself is great, so great that some moron decided to rip off a key from the keyboard. The problem is that I really need this laptop for work, because my old one is broken; so, I can't afford sending it 3 weeks to customer service to repair the keyboard. I already asked customer service if they can send me the new keyboard, so I can mount it myself, but they said that is not possible (and this is quite annoyng, since many company do this, but whatever). So, I tried to find spare parts on the Z500 seems to be too new to find them. I have found some auctions on ebay, with keys from a Lenovo G570/V570/Z570 keyboard. Do you think that this key mechanism will fit in my laptop?Thanks,  -Marco

Hello all, Last night, I did some work to help my father with his Lenovo G550 Laptop. He runs Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. It's his business computer, and since he was no longer going to use the Norton antivirus software, he wanted me to install the software I use on my HP. I have found the Microsoft Security Essentials to be more than adequate for my needs. After uninstalling it, I installed the Microsoft Security Essentials, updated it, and ran a scan. There was a pretty insidious virus found (high level), and I was able to clean it. I then began updating his system. Apparently, he'd not updated in quite some time. He had the whole SP1 package waiting for him. I began the long process of installing the updates. After a while, I came to this viscious loop where the computer would boot up, then tell me "Failed to configure service pack. Reverting changes." I let this run for about an hour, and there was no way to break it. It just seemed to be "configuring updates", and then giving me that same error message. I researched the issue on my own laptop. The solution I found detailed that Windows could not install SP1 unless the partition showed as "active". I had the Lenovo product recovery DVD, and erroneously thought that my mother's system was the same version of WIndows as my father's (I'm dealing with some pretty terrible digestive issues of my own right now, and not thinking as clearly as I normally would). It went against my better judgement, but per the k... Read more

2. You will act like you will use the drive to install the WIndows 8 BUT, In the first screen of the installation, Press Shift+F10. This will give you a DOS session.

You can now perform this step in a Command prompt.

Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

i bought a lenovo g500s laptop almost a year back...it had a on year waranty that came  along with it..and an offer to upgrade the warranty to 2 years..i sent all the ID proofs, invoice etc and i received an email telling me that warranty has been upgraded to 2 years..almost a year later today, when i checked the warranty is back to 1 year and i have less than 40 days remaining on my warranty...to make things worse,i am loosing almost all the screws from the back of my laptop...i contacted the customer service centre..they told me,screws are not available under the waaranty...help me!!!!!!!!the screws are gone..i dont know where to buy new ones  and i hear they are very expensive...plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....somebody help me....

Answer:lenovo g500s screws missing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi rahul1991,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If you are checking the warranty online, It may not be updated,
if you have all the invoices and proof of purchase, then thats as goo as your warranty.
They will honor those Proof of Purchase if ever you need service for your computer.

About the screws. Yes those are not covered with Normal Wear and tear warranty.

My suggestion.
You can check the typeof th screws you need using your System's Maintenance Manual and get the screw from online resellers or any places that sells them there in your location

On every part that will be removed on the manual shows what type / size and color the screws are, you can use that as reference when buying them.

 Regards
Solid Cruver

So... I bought a Lenovo Yoga 710 (Model: 80TX) from Best Buy a couple of days ago. I bought it brand new (not open-box, refurbished or anything like that). I noticed that the exterior sides of both hinges (the side closest to the edge of the laptop for both hinges)  look exposed and I feel like there should be a little plastic piece or something covering the exposed side of the hinge. The reason I find this weird is because the interior sides of both hinges DO have a little black piece of plastic covering them. Also, one other thing to note - the "." key on my keyboard keeps on popping off very easily. See the attached pictures for reference. SO... what do you think? Is this normal and I'm just being too critical? Is this a mistake on Lenovo's side? Did Best Buy sell me a used laptop? I appreciate all and any helpful feedback. Thanks!Exterior Side (exposed)?Exterior Side (exposed)?Interior Side (covered)?

Answer:Missing SM Bus Controller driver (Lenovo B50-30)

hi Andrew,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Windows 8.1, can you try these steps:
1. For the SM Bus Controller, have you tried running the Intel Chipset Driver as administrator? If that doesn't work, navigate to the  c:\drivers\Intel Chipset Driver folder and run the setup.exe as administrator and observe.
    - Link to picture

2. For the PCI device (PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5229&SUBSYS_380017AA&REV_01) this is the Realtek CardReader.

The Network Controller (PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_402617AA&REV_01) on the other hand is the Atheros wireless driver. Can you try to install these drivers and reboot the machine then observe.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards

Hey everyone!I ordered a x230 a few weeks ago and i realized i need bluetooth! I know i can purchase a dongle for a few dollars but i rather keep my USB ports free.Anyone know where I can purchase a bluetooth card so i can install it myself? - Or is it advised not to do that. What do you think I should do?

Answer:Lenovo x230 missing bluetooth!

2 options come to my mind1) you can look for bluetooth expresscard (x220 has a slot, so I'm guessing x230 has it as well)2) you can put it in mini-PCIe slot (for the WWAN card or mSATA SSD), assuming it's empty now, ie. you purchased without WWAN

I was using my bluetooth mouse when it suddenly stopped. Digging into it, it looks like bluetooth is no longer working on my y410p laptop.  - I no longer have bluetooth options under All Settings > Devices (Windows 10)- Bluetooth no longer shows up in my device manager In my computer properties there's an Unknown USB Device that is listed as "Port_#0007_#Hub#0003". I'm guessing this is my bluetooth card, which is no longer working. Can comeone with a working Intel bluetooth module confirm?  The device events show a Device not started description "Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\... had a problem starting" My guess is that my bluetooth adapter is blown, but I'm hoping it's something that can be fixed through software.  Thanks.

My wife's laptop has some issues so I decided to take a look and found a couple of things. No wizard here, but most of them I've been able to fix except for the fact that in the device manager the SM bus controller is not reckognized. Now I've looked and found that I'm supposed to install an intell chipset driver, but the problem is that the install fails every time. As soon as it tries to install CSVer.dll I'm getting the error message that the file can't be copied. Anyone any ideas how to fix this?

Hi. Seems we have a small problem with our touchscreen.
The laptop was dropped at one point, the frame and cover were damaged but the touchscreen itself was not hurt. We replaced the damaged parts, but now the 'touch' part is not responsive. In device manager it is listed as "LCD 1440x900", and when we click on the "N-trig DuoSense Digitizer" it comes back as "no devices found". The frame and front screen cover were all we changed, everything else remains original.
For a couple weeks, while we were waiting for the parts to come in the mail, we used the computer with the screen propped up inside the old cover, (stupid, yes, but it's our only computer). During this time "N-trig" came on a lot, because the mouse would move erratically by itself.
We can't seem to locate the device or drivers. Any help you can give us will be much appreciated.

Hello and welcome,

You don't say which screw - or which Yoga.

Go to SUPPORT (above), enter "Yoga" in Quick Path, select Yoga 11 or 13, then Guides and Manuals, and finally Hardware Maintenance Manual.  There are drawings and screw specifications in the HMM.  Then maybe a trip to the local hardware store...

Hello and welcome,

The Google gives you several options for "lenovo g550 replacement key", including eBay.  Here's one vendor that seems to understand the difference between the two ENTER keys:

Laptop: Lenovo Z70OS: Windows 8.1 x64Issue: After wiping the drives and installing a fresh OEM copy of Windows 8.1 via a DVD, I can no longer see my SSD in my partition manager. In order to install from the DVD drive, I had to change the drive mode from UEFI to Legacy. How do I obtain access to the SSD partion again?

Answer:SSD Missing After Fresh Install Lenovo Z70

You likely have the same Hybrid drive as I do. Seagate w/8GB SSD storage. That SSD part is managed by the drive and you cannot install software within it. The firmware places frequently used data there for fast boot and retreval. Below is my default factory partition layout with my 1TB -SSD Hybrid drive.

Hi every body. Sorry for my poor english )).My laptop lenovo G780 show error in turning on. The error is:    BOOTMGR is missing     Press ctrl+alt+del to restart I try load boot from windows dvd, but laptop don't load dvd.I can't open BIOS too (F1, F2, F12, Delete don't help). Please help me any one.

Answer:Lenovo G780. BOOTMGR is missing

hi mbahtiyor,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

BOOTMGR is missing is usually caused by a corrupted boot loader (can be a faulty boot sector, failed OS installation or dual-boot setup, rootkit infection, etc.).

Since you can't boot into the BIOS by pressing F2, try the following:

1. Remove the AC adapter and Battery
2. Remove the HDD (see page 39 on the Hardware Maintenance Manual on how to remove the HDD)
3. Re-seat the memory (see page 44 on the Hardware Maintenance Manual on how to re-seat the memory)
3. Hold the power button for 30secs
4. Re-insert the AC adapter, turn the computer ON and press F2 to go to the BIOS or F12 for Boot Menu
5. If you don't have any important data, try to press the One Key Recovery button (note that this will wipe everything on the PC and restore the unit from factory settings).

If the above steps doesn't work, you may need to send the unit to Lenovo for service. Support phone list here.

Hope this helps

hi I have Desktop SFF (Small form factor) Lenovo Thinkcentre M81 5025B1G with the newest BIOS release 9HJY58USA.Why the Fan Speed will be not showed? The CPU und SYS Fan exist and they work as well.I would like to to control them using SpeedFun.Motheboard is not damaged, because I have the same problem on other machines.

Answer:Fan speed missing on Lenovo Thinkcentre M81

Fan information is provided by the BIOS, and the sensor chip.

If you get into BIOS setup and the fans appear as "operating" (perhaps even showing an RPM speed in the BIOS), then those RPM values should be provided to the sensor chip for presentation to HWMonitor, Aida64, and other similar hardware monitoring software products (including SpeedFan).

If the BIOS shows the fans as "not operating", then something is not right.  Could be the motherboard chipset, could be the sensor, could be the CPU, could even be the fan's RPM sensor and/or wire, don't know.  But in this case it appears to the hardware monitoring software products that these devices (i.e. the fans) don't even exist.  The software products depend on the sensor to provide (a) existence of the fan device, and (b) fan RPM speed.

I just received a new M93p (10A9) Haswell machine with i5-4670 and Z87 chipset.  And the only fan being reported to my Aida64 hardware monitoring software is the CPU fan.  But there is also a front case fan which is working properly and is wire-connected to the fan header on the motherboard.  And yet, the BIOS shows it as "chassis fan - not operating", and Aida64 doesn't even mention it as available for display.  And yet, it's there!  And it's reported properly on three other similar M93p machines I also have set up, although those other three have an i5-4570 CPU. But it's "not operating" according to the BIOS on this machine, and th... Read more
