I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, In Lenovo`s website it says that Sierra Wireless EM7345 FRU 04X6014 has GPS as well. So, I installed it on my x1 Carbon gen2, its network is working perfectly but when I tired its GPS it isn`t. When I open Maps of Microsoft or installed other apps it didn`t work either. So, where could be the problem.. is it the app/program or it`s the modem I am using Windows 10 Pro Thanks,Kushtrim

WARNING!!! The instructions in this post are applicable only to EM7345 installed in Lenovo laptops!! For example, models T440, X240, X1 Carbon 2nd and 3rd gen, X250. For tablets or other devices don?t use the firmware given in this post, you can brick your EM7345! Unfortunately, the default factory EM7345 firmware version  (1.1) has some bugs. For example, after connecting to a LTE network and then disconnecting manually, the network status of the connection was changing for me to ?No service? until device restart. Also, the device often disappears from Device Manager and reappears there with the name ?1 CDC? and does not work until you disable and then enable it again in Device Manager. All those issues are caused by some bugs in EM7345 firmware. But there is a newer version of firmware, namely 1.2, where the above bugs are fixed. But by default, you cannot flash it, because firmware updating is supposed to work unattended. And this is not nice of Intel and Lenovo. The users must be able to do firmware updating when they need or want it! Bad, bad Lenovo, very bad! Here?s the instructions of how to flash your EM7345 to the latest version:Make sure you?re using Windows 8 or 8.1Go to the control panel and uninstall Sierra Wireless EM734x 4G LTE Software from Program and Features.Reboot your laptop.Download and install the latest EM7345 driver package from the Lenovo website. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-l... Windows just updated again and now my LTE wireless card no longer works.  In the device manager the Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE hardware has an exclamation mark and the device status lists. This device cannot start. (Code 10){Operation Failed}The requested operation was unsuccessful. I tried updating to the latest driverfrom July, but to no luck.http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS040771?LinkTrack=Solr I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling again, but no change.  It seems to prefer the "Generic Mobile Broadband Adapter" driver from Microsoft when I try to update. Any suggestions?

How to flash the firmware of the sierra wireless em7345 on windows 10 ?  Its not possible through the steps i could find which was only for widnows 8.

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 windows 10

HiOnce the modem drivers are installed, including Intel flash tool, and the sim card inserted, during laptop cold start the flash service checks out whether newer firmware is available according to current modem fw and the sim card data (more clearly, cellular operator MCC/MNC values), and performs the flashing process if it's needed, in auto mode. You should see appropriate notification from the flash service in the system tray.

Dear All, I have a X1 Carbon with Sierra EM7345 WWAN modem. It is all installed perfectly - drivers etc. But id does not recognize the SIM card. I have googled a bit and I can say that:1) I have the drivers OK, I have the WWAN network adapter etc.2) I have inserted the SIM card correctly The SIM card works perferctly if I use the USB 3G stick instead. So the problem is not in the SIM card.I think there is some configuraiton of the Sierra modem which should be done - to switch to 3G/2G or something. Please help - one of the main reasons to buy this laptop was the embedded WWAN. Thanks. Here are some screenshots with the config:

Hi Support, I would like to change a setting, so that the Sierra Wireless Adapter only connects to 4G networks. In Windows 10, I cannot see anywhere where I can easily set this. I would expect there to be mobile management software where these settings could be changed. I never want to connects to GPRS, and would like my Sierra Wireless mobile card to only connect to 4G or not connect at all. This would prevent the card dropping down to GPRS when the signal is temporarily weak and force it it to try for a 4G connection. I have had similar functionality on prior USB mobile data cards I.e. Vodafone, and hence the expectation that there would be similar settings on the Sierra Wireless. Thank you, George

Just my 2cents, but have you tried putting the SIM in a regular handphone/cell phone?  Sometimes, some carriers may require you to "activate" the SIM.  You may also need to put in APN, etc information in the "Advanced Options".

Hello! I have a T450s with a Sierra EM7345. After a vanilla installation of Windows 10 and Update 1607 I don't get a stable connection with 3G/HDSPA/LTE to O2 with this card. I have used the latest drivers 2.25.10910 and software 2.21.10890. The card shows firmware FIH7160_V1.2_WW_01.1528.04. Energy-Option is set to maximum performance. The connection to O2 is established very quickly, but I have a plenty of time-outs over this card.Does anybody have the same problem or has a solution? Thanks Axel

If I have understand correctly EM7345 is made specifically for Lenovo based on their requirements and specifications. Lenovo is also responsible for this firmware....on Carbon X1 etc...   I found an interesting AT command for Sierra Wireless EM7345. The command is ?AT+XCIQ?. There?s the following text string in EM7345 firmware file (it is present in any version so far): +XCIQ CIQ: Carrier IQ enable/disable.Let?s try to get ?help? about this command:  AT+XCIQ=? +XCIQ: (0-1) OK1234AT+XCIQ=?+XCIQ: (0-1) OKSo, we can suppose that 0 disables this Carrier IQ feature, and 1 enables it.Let?s read the current setting of this feature: AT+XCIQ? +XCIQ: 1 OK1234AT+XCIQ?+XCIQ: 1 OKLooks like it?s on by default. Let?s try to switch it off?NOTE: If you?re running firmware earlier than 1522.02, don?t enter the following command! If we try to enter: AT+XCIQ=01AT+XCIQ=0i.e try to disable Carrier IQ, EM7345 will have a fatal crash and reboot into boot flashing mode and it will be stuck there for good. So, Carrier IQ is always on and if you try to turn it off using the above AT command, that will kill the device! With firmware version 1522.02, AT+XCIQ=0 returns OK and there?s no fatal crash like in previous firmware versions. Also AT+XCIQ now accepts 3 possible values with 1522.02 firmware: AT+XCIQ=? +XCIQ: (0-2) OK1234AT+XCIQ=?+XCIQ: (0-2) OKSo, 0 must be disable, 1 enable, and what is 2? Any value gets OK response and t... Read more

I am using the EM7345 in my X1 carbon 2014 on a daily basis. It works flawlessly with my local 4G SIM. (No need for APN settings)I went to Spain for a week and tried 2 different providers: Labara and Hits mobile. They are both guesting in Vodaphone's network. In the network connection dialog they both indicate Vodaphone ES with an additional roaming indicator. When trying to connect they both ask for an APN string: gprsmov.lebaramobile.espc.hitsmobile.es After clicking connect it takes like no time till it says "cannot connect," I wonder,Windows bug? (windows 8.1 update)Sierra driver bug?or maybe vodaphone trouble? btw, I also tried a "native" vodaphone ES sim (no need for APN settings)Worked perfectectly ! Any suggestions?

Answer:X1 Carbon - Driver Sierra Wireless EM7345 ?

Hi, jkuengWhat's the OS installed on your laptop? For win8/8.1 there are no needs for drivers if the card is in MBIM mode. It must work natively in OS. Let's check it. Look at the Device Manager, open Network Adapters item. You should see something with AiarCard. Open Properties, Details tab, pull down Options list, find out an item Compatible ID. Looks like USB\Class_xx&SubClass_xx&Prot_xx). Copy the values and past here. Will look.

Also, could you, please, post here USB IDs of this card? Find it at the same list under Hardware ID item (looks like VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx).

Hi , I have updated to the 1607 Anniversary Update in August and noticed that my WWAN Sierra Wireless EM7345 had problems starting up after reboot. Because of other problems with the 1607 I reverted back to 1511 and everything was alright again.A week ago I upgraded again to 1607 and again, my WWAN sometimes cannot start when booting up. The error log shows Miniport Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE, {b343453c-24e6-493d-ba47-33eaec4de5e3}, had event Fatal error: The miniport has detected an internal error (details see below). So this clearly has to do something with the 1607 update or the drivers for the WWAN. I am using the latest drivers from the Lenovo website and have also tried to update drivers in device manager. But no luck. What helps to finally start the WWAN is either a reboot (the chances the WWAN is started properly are about fifty-fifty) or clicking WWAN off and on in flight mode options of Windows.  Maybe someone has an idea other than waiting for Microsoft to fix this stupid 1607? Thanks and best regards,Martin  Log Name:      SystemSource:        Microsoft-Windows-NDISDate:          10.10.2016 06:37:19Event ID:      10317Task Category: PnPLevel:         ErrorKeywords:      (16384),(16),(4),(2)User:      ... Hi all,I've really been helped by this forum in the past, and really hope you can help with this issue.I've installed the card and installed the driver - all of which has gone down without a hitch. The compute recognises the card with no issues. Unfortunately, however, when a simcard is inserted it does not register the simcard whatsoever - 'Insert sim' is still present. In my searches on this forum it seems this problem is Windows 10 specific - the system does recognise the wireless card but does not recognise the simcard reader. Anecdotally, it seems to work for others when using Windows 7 (although that wouldn't be a fantastic solution in my situation.)Is there any solution for this?Thank you in advance for your time and any responses!Jack

Hello, jraynerwin10 doesn't need wwan card's manufacturer drivers for the normal mobile connection, it has a native support that. Additional drivers are needed for the legacy location features via NMEA port, for the custom wwan card virtual devices configuration (like NDIS port etc). So, the 1st thought modem firmware is outdated. Check it out:open command prompt window (cmd) and type in the following stringnetsh mbn sh cap int=*Copy and past an output here (remove Device ID for your privacy).Another version is connection settings, APN mainly. Do you see a cellular network item in the win10 network settings?Anyway, I hope mobile device em7345 is present in the Device Manager w/out errors.

I'm having the same problem with my Sierra Wireless 7345 on a W550s running Windows 10. HelloI got a totally new T450s with Windows 7 preinstalled. I did immediately an updgrade to Windows 10. Now the Sierra cellular modem is not working properly after inserting a SIM card (which works fine on another laptop). It says "Cellular No Service". The driver that is installed is "generic mobile broadband adapter" and not the Sierra Driver. I downloaded the lates Sierra Driver from the Lenovo website and installed it. Without success, it always installs the "generic mobile broadband adapter".Anyone any idea? ThanksAlexander Avidan

Answer:t450s Sierra Wireless EM7345 not working after upgrade to Windows 10

Welcome, Alexander Do you see broadband item on the cellular settings pane? The most likely cause of issue is APN setting missing in the connection profile. What is your operator name and what profile settings do you see?Win10 doesn't need modem manufacturer drivers for broadband access only, it uses built-in drivers. Also, there are default connection profile settings in the OS. If your operator is missing in that base or connection profile settings differ, you should edit profile on the cellular pane under administrative privileges.Anyway, I'm not sure em7345 modem in the Device Manager's "Network adapters" category in the win10 with OS built-in drivers installed should look like "generic mobile broadband adapter".

Hi aschulte,

If you have a W541 then you need the driver for the EM7355 card; that's what should be in the system unless the parts list and psref are mistaken.

I upgraded my Helix Gen 2 to Windows 10 with few problems except for the Sierra WWAN interface to Windows 10 settings. The cellular button on the wireless menu is greyed out and the cellular option page in settings shows no devices. The adapter setting shows the adapter, and on the Settings, Network & Internet , Airplane mode page show both Mobile broadband and Wi-Fi buttons. WWAN can be enabled by truning off Wi-Fi and turning on Mobile broadband on Airplane Mode settings page. With these settings, I can connect to WWAN Verizon and get to internet but:1. Wireless pop up menu shows Cellular and Mobile Hotspot greyed out. So, in summary, I can connect to WWAN, but only via Settings, Network & Internet , Airplane mode page using proceedure above. By the way, my upgrade to Win 10, switched on the rotation lock, but I was able to fix that in Win 10 settings in table mode.

Hello everyone, I'm a bit desperate because I already tried so much.I'm running Windows 8.1 on my Lenovo X240, BIOS version 2.3 and the WWAN functionality broke about two weeks ago and I'm quite sure that this is related to a few updates that came either with Windows or more likely with Lenovo System Update which had a BIOS update and some driver updates alongside at that time.I cannot even try to establish a connection to the Deutsche Telekom LTE network, because all I'm seeing is "Insert a SIM" in the connection bar. This is what I tried so far:Use a different, well known working SIM card.Re-Install the driver packageUninstall and re-install the driver packageuse the "repair" function of the driver package setupBIOS downgrade from 2.3 to 2.29Disable and enable the WWAN functionality in the BIOSReplace the mainboard (lenovo service technician just went away an hour ago)And I'm still having the same issue. Now it's really nailed down to be either the BIOS or the driver in win 8.1 x64. One thing makes me wonder:When I choose to update the driver in the device manager and the Sierra card details, I'm pointing Windows direclty to the directory that contains the inf files and the device manager tells me that "The best driver software for your device is already installed." and shows me a "Generic Mobile Broadband Adapter". Is this an indicator for Windows completely ignoring all drivers in the setup directory of the driver package? Also, when I lookup the driver details, i... Read more

I have a T440 with Sierra LTE. It works just fine for connecting to mobile networks. But here in New Zealand, one of our providers also provides free wifi hotspots to customers on certain plans. In order to use this though, I have to enter a password that is sent to me by SMS.Is there any way that I can view SMS messages sent to the SIM card that is inside my laptop? At the moment, I have to remove the SIM from my ThinkPad (with all the hassle that involves), stick it into my phone, get the password, then transfer the SIM card back into my ThinkPad (and often as not, there is no power socket nearby, so I can't restart because I had to disable the internal battery when removing/replacing the SIM card). So, if someone can point to a way that I can simply view those SMS messages on my ThinkPad, I will be enernally grateful.

Use Lenovo Access Connections if OS on your laptop is win7, or Sierra Watcher connection manager for both OS, win7/8.

Hello, I'm thinking to buy ThinkPad Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250. I?ve few questions, Pease suggest ...1. Is it really any good and practically beneficial?2. Can I use it on Fedora 27, How?s Linux support?3. X250 has two PCI Express M.2 card slot and one is already occupied by WLAN Card and other slot is available, Can I use empty slot for FRU-04X6014?4. Can I use both WLAN and WWAN simultaneously?5. What is the impact on battery (Windows and Linux)?6. Is AliExpress a good place to buy? Thankyou

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250

Regarding your questions:1) I personally use it and it's really good, as I don't want to use additional USB modem or WWAN wireless router.2) Can't say, as I don't use Fedora.3) There's a dedicated port for this module. Please make sure, that you have an antenna connectors for module and adapter for a SIM card. Moreover, instead of WWAN module, you can install there a m.2 2242 SSD disk.4) Both can be enabled and connected, but application will use one at time.5) I have an extended battery, so it's hard to tell. I guess it have a simmilar power usage as WLAN module (basing on Windows power utilization). Can't say about Fedora.6) It you don't want to have a problem with whitelist (it prevent system from booting, when unauthorized module is installed), then I look for module on eBay. Make sure, that photos explictly show FRU PN: 04X6014 on module's label. Models without it will not work.

Hi, I've planned to buy  a  good LTE WWAN adapter for my T440 recently, but going though many negative opinions on officially supported EM7345  I think it's point less to spend many on it. I really like EM7455 but I am sure I will fall into the problem with "unsupported WWAN card ..."  which I know I can work around, but would prefer a clean solution instead. Is there any good alternative to EM7345 for T440 to get it working out of the box? Ideal would be official BIOS with EM7455 enabled in BIOS whitelist, which I believe is unlikely.

I have a new T540p running Windows 10 with a factory installed Sierra Wireless EM7355, Qualcomm Gobi 4G LTE/HSPA+/EVDO/GSM/GPRS/EDGE, GPS, M.2 Card and I cannot get any GPS functionality with this. On my previous T510 /Win7  and a Qualcom Gobi 2000  I could use  the Thinkpad GPS program to manage the GPS, and then my mapping and navigation programs would see the GPS as a Comm port and connect with no problems at all. Reading posts here, it seemed that a program called GPS Complete from turboirc.com would do the job; I downloaded and installed it, and it seemed like it worked once, but now it doesn't. What's the solution here? (I have a USB GPS, but I bought a top of the line laptop because I wanted built-in GPS capabilities.) Edit: The wireless WAN/Mobile Broadband is activated through Verizon Wireless and is functional. Wifi, Bluetooth, and other communication features all work properlyp Thanks!

Answer:GPS T540p w/Sierra Wireless EM7355

HiFirstly, I don't have win10 installed neither em7355 card, So, my words below are ... just the words, they might not help.1. What virtual device is your location app (apps?) using? Com port or sensor? 2. Do you see location sensor em7355 related in the Device Manager?3. I hope you are using GPSComplete app properly. Whether the second device (com port?) had appeared in the Device Manager?4. Is location feature, based on the em7355 card, enabled in the win10 settings menu?5. em7355 location features might depend on the drivers installation options, similar previous Gobi gererations. Navigate to the folder where the drivers package is extracted, with .msi installer inside. There should be .ini file with options for installer. Post its content here.6. I hope you know the 1st fix after wwan modem based on GPS sensor cold start needs a long time, 10...20 minuts and more, especially indoor

Has anyone been able to get that working? Does anyone else have this card and also have problems?

Answer:Drivers for Sierra wwan card?

Hi,
I'm experiencing the same problem...
It seems that the PCI to USB Hub drivers of the IBM hardware is not compatible with Windows 7 system. I think the solution is replacing the card or wait to October 22nd hopefully it will be resolved with the offical version.
If you found any other solution I'd love to hear,
Thanks,

Hi - I've got a Lenovo Thinkpad X300 with an OEM Sierra Wireles MC8775 HSDPA card, driver 2.0.9.0, 1/11/2007. It has worked fine except in two instances: first when traveling from the US to Switzerland, upon arrival it "failed to initialize" the device as I tried to run the dialer. This was true despite cold restarts. About a day later it started working, and working consistently, in Switzerland. Upon return to the US exactly the same phenomenon: unable to initialize for about a day. Then, working fine.Lenovo is ready to replace the card, but does anyone know if this is a software or other glitch for which I shouldn't trouble them? Something having to do with switching countries?  (And do I appear to be running the latest firmware/drivers? Firmware is H1_1_9_3MCAP.) Thanks,JZ

Answer:Sierra Wireless AT&T WWAN issue

To follow up for any that come later: the card was replaced, but experienced the same phenomenon in going to the Netherlands and back again to the US.  This time I downloaded and ran the "Sierra Wireless Watcher."  After the wireless radio was turned on it sat at "searching..." for about five minutes, then found the new band.  Once found it sticks, so the regular Lenovo dialer can then be used.  So it's not a hardware problem, and there's a solution.  ...JZ

Hello all   I've encountered a strange problem with my WWAN adapter. I bought a SIM and insterted it in the Thinkpad. BEFORE I installed the Sierra driver (the one for win 10): The wwan adapter couldn't be found in the network adapters. The device manager showed me a list of active but not migrated WAN adapters. All used the default windows driver. AFTER the driver installation (without any error messages and a reboot) the WAN adapters in the device manager are gone. They can only be found under the disconnected devices. The WWAN still cant be found as a network adapter   Is there a solution to activate the wwan adapter?   Thanks in advance

Hi Guys,First off, thank you for this very wonderful resource. Now, I will try to make this short and simple and hope someone can help me out.I currently am using a T430s which I ordered a Sierra MC7550 (GOBI 4000) mini PCI card for to have internet (4G) on the go via verizon.I followed all instructions and installed the card without any issue. I booted the notebook and notice a little popup in my tool tray that said the hardware was not successfully installed. I then tried using System update to install the driver which seemed to have installed everything successfully. I opened my network connections and still didn't see the new device so I decided to open up device manager and saw that something was wrong. The MC7750 was listed under "Other devices" instead of "Networking" and had the yellow exclamation point next to it.Currently the exact error is as follows:The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.I tried manually downloading/installing the driver from Lenovo's site, using System update, manually pointing to the downloaded driver's path and nothing seems to fix it.I am hoping someone could help me here. I'm not sure if this is Lenovo branded or not however I'm not getting any BIOS errors upon boot. I'm running the latest BIOS and Windows 7 Pro 64bit.There's not much information on this card via the net and I assume this is because of it... Read more

UPDATE: After hours and hours of research and contacting lenovo support via phone to no avail I decided to install the MC770 driver (same device, but for AT&T) and downloaded the installation file from AT&T and VIOLA! It installed and I was able to see it in my device manager under Network adapters.I'm not sure if its fully working yet because I had no idea I needed a sim card.. I thought i could just call up verizon with my IEMI number and have it activated... either way I consider this one step closer and it leads me to believe that something is up with the driver download from LENOVO. Also, could I buy a prepaid Verizon sim card and use it in here or? IF this works fully and flawlessy, I hope this helps someone to prevent them from going through what I went through. Hopefully Lenovo updates their drivers.*** I ask that you guys still kindly reply to let me know if I am missing something here. Thanks.

Okay, so once again I can't find any info that tell me if Y730 or any ideapad is compatible with PCI-E WWAN GSM Cards. I found a Sierra MC8775 that's a PCI-E but if it's compatible is no where to be found.Does anyone have a resource that lenovo or anyone offers to show what will and wont work. Im upgrading a lot of things on my Y730 but can't find any model #s or compatibility info. For example I wanted to buy an extra power adapter, GOOD LUCK finding that info. Lenovo doesn't offer ANYTHING on their online web store for upgrades. I had to search for 4 hours to find the specifications of 7.1V and at least 135W. I love my laptop but Im becoming more and more frustrated.  Thanks again in advance!!!Message Edited by alohadustin on 02-26-2009 08:41 AM

Dear Thinkpad X Forum, here it is Michi, an old user of all kind of Thinkpad. In the last 5 years I have had the X1 Carbon (1st and 2nd Generation) and X1 Yoga (1st generation). After a very unfortunately repair in my X1 yoga (only 18 months old but suffered 4 onsite repairs with the only result that two LCD screen were broken, hinges not working and battery not able to work on a reliable manner), I decided to move to a X1 Carbon 5th Generation. Info regarding the new laptop:- 20HRCTO1WW- Received on january 4th 2018 (should have been produced in the last week of 12/2017), directly shipped from PRC-WWAN: Sierra 7455 ISSUE:1) tried to insert the MICRO-SIM I had on my the X1 Yoga. It was not recognized, in fact it is still showing "Insert SIM"2) Tried the MICRO-SIM again on my X1 Yoga: it works fine. Tried it in a couple of cells: works fine.3) I checked extensively that forum and found a lot of tread mentioning problems with the SIERRA 7455 WWAN4) Just check Lenovo updates. I have installed the following update:Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad7.47.4743.01052017/10/16 5) Just restarted the computer and check it again. Hi, I just received a x1 yoga oled and inserted my sim card. Entered the pin and everything works fine. In my network selection pane (the one to the right bottom in Win 10) I then de-clicked the mobile toggle because at home I use my wifi, which is faster and is free. When then restarting the notebook or closing and re-opening the lid the mobile toggle disappears and the cellular network says "deactivated" with no option to reactivate it. I am planning to buy Lenovo X300 and use in Thailand. Does anyone know about the different of the 2 WWAN modules.Sierra Wireless MC8775 and Lenovo FRU 41T0901. From what I knoiw the Sierra make the module for Lenovo. Is the two things exactly the same (it look the same) or the Lenovo has the FRU embedded on the card ?I am affraid of having problem with BIOS if I install the module that I buy direct from Sierra.

Answer:WWAN card 3G Lenovo branded or Sierra Wireless

Hello,I have done some deep research on this matter for myself, I have an x61 and would like to swap the factory installed wwan card with a gsm card by Sierra but not with Lenovo FRU. The Thinkpad bios will not accept parts other than the ones approved by lenovo and on which there is lenovo FRU#, even if from the same manufacturer, the "Whitelist" is here:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62906 if you would install a generic part non lenovo approved, the bios will not boot the system, give you an error message  and tell you to remove the card. There is a solution for this issue, it can be found here:  http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=55837&start=300 but it involves flashing your machine with a modified bios which could be risky. I am going to try it because my preinstalled wwan card is for services by Vrison in the USA, I need a GSM card for Europe and other locations with GSM providers only, I will remove the original which is useless for me and replace it with a non Lenovo Sierra MC8775 WWAN HSDPA 3G card and flash the bios. Hope this helps Message Edited by pandavi on 01-28-2009 12:55 AM

I bought two brand new X270's WWAN upgradable and bought EM7455 cards separately. I installed the cards as directed. When I booted the laptop the first time after installation, a warning message saying something to the effect of "unknown network hardware EM7455." Windows didn't detect the newly installed card. So I did a CMOS reset (removed the extra battery, disabled the built-in battery on the BIOS and pressed the CMOS reset button to the left of the battery bay). After the CMOS reset, Windows recoginized a new hardware by the name of "Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm" but couldn't install the driver (see the attached screenshot). I did install Lenovo's EM7455 driver (total file size 191MB) and didn't work. I turned to Sierra and found a generic USB Build 4581 driver and it didn't work. When I restarted Windows, the newly found hardware was gone. I did a CMOS reset again and it came back up on the device manager list.  So I turned to Windows update. It found a driver update by the name of Sierra Incorporated - Ports dated 10/20/2016. It tried to install it but it failed. However, the device's name was changed to Qualcomm COM Port (3) and it was still not installed properly. I went to the device's properties and changed the port to 8. It recognized the full name of the card but GPRS connecitons on Windows didn't show up. Lenovo posted a security notice about the Sierra Wireless drivers yesterday.  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product_security/LEN-12739 In that it says that X1 Yoga should have a new driver version 2.36.10970.4674 at the following location, last updated 7/13/17.http://support.lenovo.com/my/en/downloads/DS112204 1)  That is not the version listed at the location.  That version is of the 7.34 variety, as so many of the machines use.2)  The drivers at that location say their last update was in February.  My download agreed, by naming it nz1wn03w(1).exe, meaning I had downloaded that file before.3)  Microsoft seems to insist theirs is the best driver, in device manager it shows I currently have Microsoft driver version 10.0.14393.1198 for the network adapter.4)  When I run it anyway, thinking maybe someone forgot to update the web page and file name, I'm told that the currently installed driver is better than the one I'm trying to install, and it does nothing. What am I missing?  What should be the next step? -Michele

I know this is an old thread, but I got sent here by Google, so I thought this might help someone else with a similar problem.
On my T540p, my WWAN card suddenly disappeared from view, and the Device Manager showed an unknown USB device, which I presumed to by the missing WWAN card.
This thread caused me to look around the BIOS, and I found an Intel Connection Manager setting that had been disabled (don't ask me how). Once enabled, my WWAN was back and Device Manager now lists a "Sierra Wireless USB Composite Device" instead of the unknown one.

I had a thinkpad t540p model 20be004eus upgraded to windows 10. It seems that my laptop has wwan device (I can insert a sim card in the battery bay), however, I cannot get my laptop reconized the wwan. I already try these following: - Check spec of my wwan device noted here which it turned out to be EM7355- Downloaded EM7355 package from here.- Install the software, but it only add Sierra location sensor- Tried to add device manual and use source from the aboved download.- Windows did add the device which error 10, I then can update the device to newest version.- After that a network adaptor appeared on windows network, but always in disabled status (can NOT enable) Do any body know how to deal with this problem?

HiAre you sure laptop has the wwan card em7355 installed? Sim card reader presence doesn't mean laptop has built-in wwan card and even wwan antennas. What's the laptop model code, MTM (Machine-Type-Model)? Is there unknown device in the Device Manager? What description does the device with error 10 have? The same question for network adapter.Note, em7355 doesn't have drivers for win10. The only chance wodem could work is to use OS drivers for modem in the MBIM mode. What's the network type (3G, LTE) and mobile broadband operator name are you trying to connect?

I have a T61 and I've successfully physically plugged in the internal EVDO card, but the antenna cables are no where to be found per the instructions.  I ordered the Lenovo EVDO card, the only thing in the static bag was the EVDO card (and a few stickers with the card's ESN info). Unless I missed a creative location for these cables, is there another part I need to order?  If so, what is the part number, and where are the installation instructions? Many thanks for your time and effort to help me resolve this. Thanks.

Answer:T61 - Adding Sierra Wireless EVDO WWAN Card (Cellular Data)

Lds, Yes, you will need to order the antenna which comes with the cable + connector attached.  The antenna is located in the lid along with the LCD display panel and WiFi/BlueTooth/WUSB antenna(s) and other various other components. Installation is another subject, which I don't have enough experience to comment on. I happened to purchase the WUSB option for my T61p but have not installed it yet. I had to buy both the card and the antenna. Good luck. CobraRGuy

Hi, Everytime i buy an electronic toy i try to get the best from it,and thanks to many independent developers like xda or cdfreaks and many others i get that. So i was wondering if someone knows how to unlock this antenna, i bought my computer with this WWAN built in antenna but i'm wondering how can i use it with my local cellular internet provider. thinkpad tablet X60 6363 WDK  I know that is not a question of hardware but of software, i have the sim input under the battery. Hope someone can help me with this doubt.  Greetings and joy

Answer:Unlocking my WWAN Verizon Sierra wireless 1xEV-DO card for worldwide access - Possible ?

Welcome to the forum. There is no way of unlocking a Verizon card, like there is no way of unlocking a Verizon cell phone. The card may work in certain areas outside of U.S. but since you haven't stated your location, I'm afraid I can't be more specific than I am at present until you do. Hope this helps.

I need some help here.I've narrowed down the problem I've been having with my x220t+gobi 3000.Apparently when I first installed it, the driver's set the firmware to Verizon, and I could see Verizon's network on windows 8 just fine. However, I have to use tmobile because it's 3x cheaper.Right now, I have the driver's installed and the card doesn't even seem to work, so I'm wondering what I need to do to get it to work. I'm out of options. I tried reinstalling the driver/firmware, but it doesn't seem to do anything.EDIT (9/11/15 617pm): I just powered on my laptop and magically it seems to be working. All I think I need to do now is activate this thing.

Hi, I have a P50 recently updated Windows 10 Fall creators update. After the update my system no longer shows my wwan hardware (Sierra Wireless EM7455).I no longer have a cellular connection option in the network menu after clicking the network icon in taskbar tray,no cellular connection section in the networking settingsNo wwan device in Device Manager under Network AdaptersNo cellular connection shown in the Network Connections control panel under Network and Internet. What does show up in device manager is a 'Sierra Wireless Location Sensor' under the Sensors category.I did try to install the Sierra Wireless softwar from here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/tp07_en. But it didn't help.I do not know if any of this has to do with the recent update on Windows 10 but if anyone else has experienced this please share your situation and solution if any.Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

Hi!I have a Thinkpad X220 with the BIOS whitelist removed. I just installed a Sierra Wireless MC7304. After installing the drivers from TechShip, the card is recognized as well as the inserted SIM card. However, it says "turned off" and I can't get it to turn on.Now, I have one more detail to share. The built-in SIM card holder on my X220 got broken previously due to a NANO sim adapter trashing the connectors. With a SIM in this slot, it doesn't get recognized. To get around this problem, I have installed a SIM Card adapter for mini PCI Express modules (https://techship.com/products/sim-card-adapter-for-mini-pci-express-modules/). With this fitted to the WWAN card, the SIM gets recognized. However, I see two Cellular connections (see attached screenshot). In device manager, I also have 3 Sierra Wireless network adapters.I assume I should disable some of these adapters to get this working by looking at hardware IDs. Any idea how to identify and diable the adapter coming from the broken sim card slot?

Dear Forum Friends,
I have done a system recovery after a disc cleanup with multiple programs... Too much is never good, I see now. Everything seems back to work properly, except: The reliability history shows no filled-in curve. I got the message that I seemingly just started Windows (I only did system recovery) and that it may take several hours to display properly. After 2 days, I still have nothing. Is this normal?
Someone an answer, please? Hopefully there are no important files gone after a too enthusiastic disk cleanup.
Maybe I should let the pc on for a night or so? Windows may need more time than what they say. Maenwhile the message on the yellow block dissapeared, but the graph is still blank.
Regards,

I custom ordered my X200 and it got delivered yesterday. When you go to the X200 customizing, it already shows that it comes with AT&T 3G. Anyways, I call tech support yesterday, and they were useless. They couldn't even find my order in the system. I was on the train, so I couldn't open the keyboard at the moment, but I did when I got home and didnt see any WWAN card, but I wasn't exactly sure of what i was looking for. Anyways, the box it came in has the configuration on the outside. I took a pic with my iPhone, so its crap - no macro settings - but if you can somehow read the blur, the 3rd option down is AT&T 3G. There is also "WWAN Misc Part", "WWAN Misc Parts", and "ATT Option". So I'm assuming it comes with the built in hardware. It came with an AT&T 3G sim card already in the machine.  However, the machine isn't detecting the hardware. FN+F5 only shows wifi & bluetooth. I go into the bios, and I don't see a WWAN option anywhere. I read somewhere that one guy had to update his bios to get it to show/work. I'm assuming my bios would already be updated though. Did they just not install the hardware?  I figured I would get better support here before calling them again

Answer:X200 & AT&T 3G WWAN...Not detecting wwan

I have an X200 with AT&T WWAN and it works fine. A couple of things to check: My configuration shows = 42X6331 L1 WWAN Intg AT&T (3G); 42V8251 L1 COPT AT&T USA; 43Y3864 L! COPT WWAN MiscPartsIn the Thinkvantage - Mobile Broadband Connect - you should get a screen that has a "sign up" button and a "close" button. With the wireless power switch "on" (switch on left side of laptop) click the "signup" button. It will check the status of your card. If you have not signed up for service, it will NOT show you any signal strength, you must sign up for the service and the network has to put the ESN (Electronic Serial Number) of your card into the system for it to work. Do not try and use the AT&T Communications Manager software because it will not work with the Ericsson radio in the laptop. Just my experience.

If yes - which parts must I buy?Do I have to have only 3G modem card or any additional antennas or slots? Please let me know.Radek

Answer:X61s-non WWAN upgrade to WWAN

It really depends on if your system has antennas for WAN.  If so, there will be two wires that look like the ones plugged into the wireless LAN card except they will be marked one red and one blue.  If you have them, you can look in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the part numbers of the cards for this system.

Answer:EM7345 Firmware - Best One ?

the lastest firmware is 1.2.. and here are the AT main secret programming codes and commands...(I do not want ...etc..publish more secret codes etc..do not ask for more..)..because they are too dangerous etc..to change the commands etc..use this software..PuTTYhttp://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html AT commands are very helpful for troubleshooting your device and changing the settings that are not available from standard Windows settings. For example, you can choose the access technology ? 2G, 3G, 4G and even stick to particular frequency bands.EM7345 is using Intel (formerly Infineon) AT command set and it?s not compatible with Quallcomm AT command set. All basic AT commands like AT+CFUN are more or less the same for all 3G/4G devices, but advanced ones, starting from AT+X, are unique to Intel XMM platform devices. No official documentation for AT commands was released by Intel, all I was able to find is some source code fragments for Samsung phones (that are based on the earlier XMM platform, like XMM 6380, or so)  on GitHub.To use AT commands, first you have to enable EM7345 AT command port, There are many cases when your newly installed EM7345 doesn?t work. Let?s start step by step.AT+CFUN?should return: +CFUN: 1,01 means the device is turned on. If it?s not 1, make sure your EM7345 is turned on in Windows Connection Manager. Or try to turn it on using the AT command:AT+CFUN=1Let?s check if the SIM card is working and recognize... Read more

Question: T440s with EM7345

I've got a T440s running windows 7 with a em7345 4g mobile module installed, the drivers install correctly and it recongnises the sim but fails to find the network (upon trouble shooting the connection windows suggests that there is no signal, however my phone uses the same network so I know this to not be the case). My best guess so far is that it's either something to do with the apn settings (I'm based in the UK and use the giffgaff mobile network which does require apn settings to be set) or there's an issue with the antena. No connection shows up in the VAN UI. Anyone with any ideas about how I could go about testing either of those things?

When I use win7 os,it is ok and updatable
but when I change my os to win10 , problem occurs.
I downloaded the newest drivers from support.lenovo.com and installed
File directory C:\ProgramData\Intel\LENOVO MBIM Toolkit\FirmwareDatabase\PreInstalled existed.
The newest version is FIH7160_V1.2_WW_01.1529.06_TS_NAND.fls
But when I launch intel MBIM firmware updated,it shows :
"Device not found or removed"
device information and sim information was all blank

When I add flz files downloaded from rokuta.com, it's also not updatable

But I can use the sim internet service
What a [skipped] thing!

I recently purchased a ThinkPad W540. And noticed my connection is dropping every few seconds.

First thing I did was getting a new SIM card. didn't change anything. Now I left Device Manager open by accident, and noticed the EM7345 was disappearing from the list and then appearing again. Does this mean the EM7345 is faulty?I have been unable to install the latest driver. It still shows the inbox Microsoft driver dating back to 2013 in Windows 8.1. I was hoping a firmware update might fix it. But to my understanding Windows 8.1 loads this firmware from the hard disk or SSD upon boot.

I confirmed the network card is also behaving the same in Ubuntu 14.10.Now I plan on calling Lenovo tomorrow for an on-site replacement.

Answer:EM7345 randomly disconnecting in new W540.

When it disappears do you see an unknown device called '1 CDC'  in Device Manager ? It always use Microsoft generic driver because it works in MBIM device mode (IOW there is no need for vendor specific network device driver, except the GPS). What firmware version do you have ? Follow this thread http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Tablets/Sierra-Wireless-EM7345-ThinkPad-8-and-10-general-issues...

You have to update EM7345 firmware by installing software package from Lenovo. There are still small issues but it is much better than the default firmware that does not work at all. a) Install the Sierra Wireless EM7345 driver, in my case gtwo47ww.exe
b) Edit with admin privileges:
%ProgramData%\Intel\LENOVO MBIM Toolkit\Config\Config.xml

and set:

SilentAutoFWUpdate to false
PromptForSilentAutoFwUpdateFail to true
EnforceModuleCompatibility to false
FirmwareSysTray to true

c) Restart

You will be prompted for firmware upgrade, in my case with a generic driver.

I recently ordered 2 laptops about a month ago. I've been foloowing such forums of:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Tablets/Sierra-Wireless-EM7345-ThinkPad-8-and-10-general-issue...and have similar results. For whatever reason, the card disables itself.  I've checked the internals and its seated properly.  I've even reseated.  I can only go by what my user, in the field has provided me information about.  It'll work sometimes.  When I remoted in last time, I disable and re-enabled it.  I changed "automatic" to specifics of verizon connection (vzinternet) and changed to override to automatic dhcp ip.  The system seems to have worked for 7 days.  It doesn't work again.  When it disables itself, device manager says its working fine.  Access Connection software from Lenovo freezes up, crashes, or stalls and eventuall kicks back to wifi.  At this point there is no point in contacting support, due to it being a field system with proprietary software.  Knowing that both systems have this problem, I doubt its a hardware problem (other than having the wrong untested card to begin with). The only other suggestion from lenovo would be to reload the system, which is not an option in the field. Therefore I'm faced with sending the user a mifi card from Verizon, because a $200-$300 internal card wont work properly.   I'd ask for a refund if I had enough in the budget to order 4 new laptops. ...
