I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: T420s F5521GW not connecting to Mobile Broadband, Drivers OK, Windows 10

Dear nchow,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Since lenovo did not test or release the compatible windows 10 drivers for the T420s, My advice to you is to go back to the previous windows and check if the Mobile Broadband will work well or not.

Hello all, I'm having a lot of trouble with my WWAN module F5521gw: although the card connects just fine to the provider (T-mobile Germany) via "Access connection" (IP and everything is assigned just fine), no traffic is going through that device! Whenever i unplug my network cable and disable WLAN, no internet connectivity is available anymore, although the WWAN is up, running and connected. As soon as i try to ping anything or open a web page in the browser - nothing happens. --> What can I do? I am really desparate, as i have no idea on what to do... Thanks for any hints! Regards,Frank

Hi Everyone Just get my new T430S for testing purposes , I was replacing the WWAN from my "old" W520 to the new one and get the error that the device its not supported , is there any way to get this fix , if not what's the official way to open a case with lenovo ?, if this is not working I try to send back the T430s. Thx and regards.

Answer:F5521gw Mobile Broadband and T430s

well there is no "official" way of doing this. the 430s has so called whitlisted cards that works. others dont work without modifying the bios. try to find a modded bios that removes the whitelist or like you said.....return it. or just get an approved card.

Hello All: I can't get the GPS location feature working on my new W520 (4270-CTO).  The device did work once, the first day I had the computer (before running Microsoft Update and Lenovo Update), however, it has not worked since then. I've tried everything I can think of - removing and re-installing all the software, double-checking the BIOS, looking for device driver problems - but no luck.  When I launch the 'GPS Enabler' application, all I see is 'Satellite Acquisition in progress...".  I know the laptop can see the satellite constellation because I have a small hand-held GPS beside the laptop, and it has an excellent view of the satellites.  So does my Blackberry. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP 1 (what the computer shipped with).  I've installed the 83wo13ww driver package (nominally version 6.4.1.6, according to the readme file, but displayed as driver version 1.4.0.5 in the properties sheet of the driver when viewed via the Device Manager); the 83wa20ww Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation package ( version 4.0.0020); and the 83gp31ww ThinkVantage GPS package (version 2.72). I'm running Access Connections 5.84 (build 83c755ww), which I believe is the current release.  I have placed a SIM card in the slot in the back of the computer, and when I launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation, it shows all the appropriate information (IMEI, ICCID, etc.) for the SIM card... Answer:Can't get GPS working on W520 with Ericsson F5521gw Integrated Mobile Broadband

Just a postscript - I have found another discussion from about 18 months ago that mentions similar problems with a W500 and a T500.  One of the participants in that discussion suggested that improper assignment of COM ports might be the cause of the problem... but, if that is so, how does one go about re-assigning the two ports used by the GPS?  The picture I provided (link is above) shows that my W520 is using COM ports 10 and 11 for the GPS.  I have no idea at all how to change this port assignment. Here's the link to the prior discussion: W500 GPS Problem Regards, Michael

Answer:T420s mobile broadband card problem

Im pretty sure that card isn't whitelisted for the T420sFirst of I think it needs to be an official Lenovo part and secondly I think only the F5521gw is whitelisted on T420s - I could be wrong though, I'm sure someone else will chime in though and correct me.

Hi all, not sure if this is the right section for mobile midband but I'll give it a shot...

Yesterday my brother dropped out his acer laptop to me to be updated. The ethernet port on the side of it is broken so he cannot go online with it. I have a mobile dongle so I figured I could use that to update his machine which needs a bit of TLC.

First of all let me say I have installed and gone online with this dongle on many other windows7/vista/xp machines without a problem but when I plugged it into his computer the story was different...

The drivers and software install without a hitch but when I try to go online it will not connect. It says "please make sure the device is inserted and settings are correct" The dongle should just be (plug and play) I have tried every USB port in the laptop and every time its the same story.

Also at one stage it asked me for the AP string/password etc but again this made no difference. Then I saw an error code "711" from windows which is due to a stopped telephony service so I started it manually and still no joy.

I noticed a couple of services were stopped including security centre so I had to start them manually so not sure if something like this is stopping the dongle from working.

Sorry for the massive thread but wanted to give whole background incase anyone here has encountered something similar and knows a fix.

Thanks for reading.

Answer:Problem connecting mobile midband/broadband dongle to windows7 ultimate

Hi

My bros, laptop Win 7, has a software based on screen icon - shown on screen which is acessed via a hotkey combination, this icon displays a switch between the wired and wireless conx - from wired to wireless - his doesnt start do this automatically.

Alternatively:

Just a thought, have you tried disabling the laptops inbuilt network port?
Perhaps it may default to the only remaining connection, your dongle, but like I said for my brothers unit this doesnt happen..so may not work...?

You should be able to go to the device manager and just right click the network port and select disable. While you are there just verify that the dongles port if its usb or pcmia type are enabled.

Also ensure that wireless connections can be enabled.

btw I am not familiar with win 7 network protocols, so take this with a grain of slat as it were...

Good luck:wave

Hello, I have an E220s, and have recently bought an Ericsson WWAN F5521gw module (FRU: 60Y3279).According to the manual (and judging by how the card looks), it connects to an antenna through two cables: main + auxiliary (just like the WIFI module). My laptop didn't have any such cables, beside of those already used by the WIFI module (I've opened and removed the top panel to make sure. Really no antenna cables).Just to experiment, I've disconnected the aux cable from the WIFI module and connected it to the main connection of the WWAN module (so now I have two modules, each connected only at the main connection). It worked - both connections operate properly (with a SIM card for the WWAN, of course). Is this supposed to be a satisfactory solution, or should I worry about them not being connected through the AUX as well?If they indeed need the AUX connections too, where are the WWAN antenna connectors supposed to be? Thanks in advance,Daniel

I'm ready to pull my hair out and hope someone can help. I bought a T420s from a guy, but he was running what looked like a pirate copy of Windows 7 however the laptop ran fine. But being an honest person, I went a purchased a legal copy and installed it and now I'm in a big mess. The laptop starts up okay, but I'm suddenly missing a ton of drivers and I'm not a computer guy so i'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out what i need and where to get it. I went to the download section of the Lenovo website and looked up drivers for the T420s but nothing seemed to match what my laptop says. Maybe it's all there just under different names-- I don't know. Please help if you can.

Here's what I missing and I have no idea what most this stuff is:

Biometric Coprocessor
Ethernet Controller
Network Controller
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Unknown Device

I was also missing the Sierra Wireless MC8355 - Gobi 3000 Modue but I found something that looked like that in the driver section and downloaded it, but it didn't fix my monitor it's still running at 1024 x 768 instead of the 1600 x 900 like it's supposed to.

I'm totally lost with all this.....    HELP

Dear community For educational purposes (study of SW architectures) I would like to install Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 directly on a ThinkPad T420s without having a host operating System and a virtual guest. The idea behind this is to get the best usage of the resources. Unfortunately most of the built in hardware is not recognized. At least I would like to have drivers for the network adapters and the display adapter. Everything else is a nice to have. Does anyone of you have an idea where I could get drivers for the mentioned server operating systems and devices? Any input is highly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance. Kind regardsGabriel

Answer:Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2012 drivers for T420s

You should be able to use most if not all of the Windows 7 drivers (on 2008R2) or the Windows 8 drivers (on 2012) directly. There's also an off chance you can use the 7 drivers on 2012 or the 8 drivers on 2008R2, but I doubt it.

So Windows 8 doesn't work on my Edge E530 with the Ericsson mobile broadband. At all. There are no drivers listed under the Windows 8 option in the Drivers section. The Windows 7 drivers worked for W8 RTM Preview, but they don't work for W8 Pro as released. There is a bug in the "Known Issues for Windows 8" concerning enabling mobile broadband in the BIOS, but I checked and there's no option for that. Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation says there's no supported wireless drivers, the Ericsson drivers install without errors and my drivers screen looks like this.   I'm just so darn tired of this computer costing me money and time to fix.

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

Answer:no mobile broadband on x1 after update to Windows 10

HiSince you have Ericsson H5321 installed, there is a workaround of issue:check out wwan card firmware version and upgrade that one.http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1/...Current upgrade tool doesn't support win10, so there are two methods:- install the card into another laptops Windows7/8 running and perform fw upgrade- downgrade win10, upgrade fw, upgrade to win10 again

My father uses mobile broadband (he usually buys a 3GB package) on his Windows 7 laptop, he has reserved the Windows 10 upgrade (well I did for him...). I was just wondering out of curiosity, is there a way to "stop" it from downloading automatically so he can use my home broadband for the upgrade?
The only thing I can seem to think of is turning off automatic downloads for windows update (IF that will even work...).
Does anyone have any other suggestions or is this a possibility?

Answer:Windows 10 reservation and mobile broadband.

Your idea may work.
Not sure if this link helps but just have a look. Metered Internet connections: Frequently asked questions - Microsoft Windows Help
You also can cancel the reservation and wait till (a few days) after July 29 and then download the update at your place. (guess your dad can wait a few days more)

Hi everyone,
I am running windows 10 pro and now i want to update my system using "Windows Updates". The problem is that Windows Update is showing numerous new updates for the system but i have a mobile broadband (ie. usb dongle type) for internet purposes over which i want to download all the system updates. but the updates wont download maybe because Windows 10 has set this connection type as 'metered'.
Whats even worse is that the metered and non-metered choice is greyed out and i cannot change it. I then tried the command prompt method described on this site. it momentarily does change the mobile broadband connection as 'Unrestricted' but STILL windows wont download any updates over this connection .

I want to know HOW to download updates through Windows Update application using my mobile broadband connection.

Does any one know about editing the relevant registry entries to force Windows use mobile broadband for Windows Updates?

PS: I dont have ANY other source of internet ie. Wifi or Ethernet.
Thanks

Answer:No Windows Updates over Mobile Broadband!

The simplest solution is going to SERVICES.MSC
there locate Windows UPDATE
right click and set the service from MANUAL to DISABLED
Now there are no updates (until you switch it on again)

Also the STORE is disabled

Good luck

My laptop is Compaq V3906TU with windows 7 pro.

I have a problm with connecting to internet via my mobile broadband. It's been around a year since i installed this win 7. But somehow, lately it takes random time for it to hang when connected to internet via mobile broadband. It's weird since it worked fine for months, but suddenly this hang comes. My modem is Prolink. At first i thought it was because of pc manager from prolink, so i tried to set up the network directly from network n sharing center. But the problem stays.

I always update windows n antivirus (AVG). It keeps me wonder if this problm comes from virus or spyware or any other threads.

For notes, i dual boot my laptop with XP n Win7. It works absolutely fine in XP. Any suggestions?

Ragonz

Answer:Windows 7 hangs - Mobile Broadband

I also thought the problm comes from the modem (prolink), but my grlfriend has the same problm. Suddenly hangs in random times when connected to internet via modem, she's using Huawei. Is there any bug or something with this case?

Hi all,I have issues getting mobile (3/4g) broadband to work with my new T470 Thinkpad. In Ubuntu, the Fibocom Adapter is only detected as a generic MBIM adapter, and although Network Manager (and it's applet) display my network provider, the connection is not established, and the system process mbim-proxy is hanging at 100% CPU. This issue has been reported here (but seems to remain unsolved ?) : https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg158286.html Did anyone get this to work?Best whishes and thanks for any hints!

The Gobi 3000 based card is the only one with Verizon support.

As far as 4G goes, you need to be specific about which 4G offering you are interested in. Some US vendors have positioned DC-HPSA+ as a 4G offering, though pretty much everywhere else in the world it is regarded as 3G.

Cheers,

When using Ethernet or Wi-Fi I have no problem, but when using an HSDPA USB modem to connect to the internet via mobile broadband (dial-up) I have the following problem:

Windows Update can "check for updates" and lists pending updates without a problem, but will not download anything (starts downloading but stops at 0% with error 80200011). Internet works fine otherwise (e.g. Internet Explorer, email etc).

I am using NIS and have tried disabling this but it does not help. When booting in Selective Starup (no startup items, Microsoft services only), I can connect to the internet (dial-up manually or automatically via IE default connection and get local and internet access status), however I cannot locate any web sites (e.g. Google), so suspect there may be some issue with DNS or some other configuration setting for this connection.

Answer:Windows Update problem with mobile broadband

Hi -

Most likely it is NIS causing the problems as usual. Simply disabling Norton does no good because the boot and kernel mode drivers continue to run.

Remove NIS with the Norton Removal Tool. Download it to your desktop, right-click on the icon and select Run as Administrator. Upon completion, re-boot.

NRT - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Next, reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply (if hi-lighted) | Click OK

Norton or Symantec anti-virus is just fine. But not the firewall. In the interim, use AVG 8 for a/v protection -

Please let me know how you make out.

Hi all.
I am starting this new thread as the previous thread had become quite old and no one was replying on that post.

I had started a thread here a while ago regarding usage of a mobile broadband like 3g/4g to receive windows updates in Windows 10. The method worked like a charm for some time but then it completely stopped working. Now again I cant download Windows Updates following the gpedit method shown in the aforementioned thread.

This is really very frustrating. The owner of the mobile broadband is not allowed to use it as per his or her needs! Guys do we have a working method to force 'smart' Windows 10 to use the mobile broadband dongle to download the windows updates?

Your help would be much appreciated!

Can anyone please help? I bought a Vodafone mobile broadband dongle and was happily going about my business with this on pay as you go.One day I chose to download some Windows Updates, nine of them I believe including Windows Live and Internet Explorer 8.After the downloading process I was asked to restart my computer but I hadn't closed down my broadband connection when I did this.At this point my Windows Vista Business computer failed to restart and relaunched in safe mode.It then wouldn't start up again properly, also taking me back to safe mode.I figured it was the mobile broadband dongle that might be giving my Acer Aspire M1640 a problem so I removed it and sure enough the computer works fine.I still have access to internet through a dial-up modem but every time I've put the broadband dongle in again it's failed to find an internet connection and caused the same problems with shutting down and starting up.I've uninstalled the Vodafone programs and the assoicated drivers but haven't tried installing them again.Should I do this or is there some other problem? Also wondering about the Isatap adapter issue I have regarding Code 31?

Question 1:I am unable to load the Windows 8 Installation DVD in UEFI (only) mode on my T420s. As a result, I can only run the installer in Legacy mode (or both UEFI/Legacy which effectively means the same thing). This in turn means Windows 8 is installed in Legacy BIOS mode.  Any idea how to install it in UEFI mode? I am using a DVD burned using the Windows utility from the Windows 8 64-bit ISO and have followed the instructions in HT073269, however I am unable to get to step 1 of the Windows 8 install after updating the BIOS, resetting to defaults, and switching to UEFI-only. On boot, after switching to UEFI-only, I am presented with a bootloader and prompted to select which drive to boot (DVDRAM or SSD). Selecting either makes the screen go blank for a moment and then returns back to the same screen with no result. Since then I have searched these forums extensively and Googled Technet, Notebook Review, and other sites to no avail. I've tried several several ideas, including using diskpart > clean to get the SSD in raw status (per HT051844). That did not make a difference. I also tried converting a Legacy-BIOS install of Windows 8 to UEFI using CharlyAR's instructions on TechNet (linked from another thread here). That seemed to get me to a Windows Boot Loader but still errored out and Windows Repair was unable to fix it. Any suggestions? Also, question 2:  Does anyone know if the T420S support secure boot? I have an HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 Tablet with an inbuilt HP hs2350 HSPA+ Mobile broadband module. I have an 3G working SIM inserted. This was working very well with WIndows 8.1 and I was able to connect to internet easily with it and use this as a broadband connection. I recently installed Windows 10 64 bit as a fresh install. It recognises the HP hs2350 HSPA+ Mobile broadband module and installs a generic driver fro the same. The SIM card and mobile service operator (Vodafone IN) is also recognized and I can see a full signal strength. However when I try to connect to internet through WIndows 10, it does not work. The error message is " Cant Connect to this network.  Enter an APN and try again " In the "Cellular" under advanced settings, I have configured teh APN as per settings provided by the service provider (esp. APN name "www") everything else as default. However when I connect to the internet using this it gives me this error message mentioned above. The SIM card is worknig adn when I connect it to an Android phone it works very well. However when I connect my tablet using windows 10 it gives me an error. I reached out to Vodafone and they tried out quite a fe different settings but their inference is that its a Windows 10 issue. Can you please help? Parthesh Gulawani

The way I read the specifications for your machine, it may be upgradeable to mobile broadband, but it is not included in the factory configuration.

I run Windows 7 64bit os with an Orange high Speed (!) mobile broadband dongle (515m).
The software (Internet Everywhere) stopped working months ago and after much arguing with Orange, they admitted that it was a software compatibility problem with my os but promised that an update would be coming soon. They gave a workaround which meant the dongle worked on dial up (with associated speed).
However, after waiting months for the update, it's finally arrived but it still doesn't work!
Just like the last software version, after installing it clean, it crashes at start up and won't operate.
Last night I had to stay up hours to roll back my system to get the dial up working again as it prevented that from working too.
I'm really sick of this and Orange's response has been woefully unsatisfactory, bordering on insulting. The latest gem was to uninstall everything internet connected then download the software! How? This has been pretty much the level of response from Orange. I'm about ready to cancel my contract with them for breach of contract.
Any ideas anyone?

Oh, my laptop is an Acer Aspire 7540.

Answer:Orange Mobile Broadband 515m Dongle not working with Windows 7

Hi, not sure if this is what you meant by the workaround, but I had the same problem and solved it by manually configuring a dial-up connection with windows using the number *99#
The software started crashing whenever I started it and, much like Orange have now pointed out, I suspected it was some sort of conflict with Windows 7. Initially the only way I had to get round it was constant system restores whenever the problem started, but that wasn't practical. The manual dial-up seems the best way I have found so far. The speed and service using it this way appears to be the same if not better than when using it with the software.

AFAIK, you have to use the displayport on the laptop itself, if you want the third digital connection.

My lenovo thinkpad X200 7458-5NG is Mobile Broadband Connection not activated after i reinstalled windows 7 64bit and it has the sim card slot but its not responding with the software. If I try to install mobile broadband activation it say this is not a supported wireless WAN card installed in this computer, the setup cannot continue...... Any ideas happy people ThanX Andrew

Answer:Lenovo Mobile Broadband Connection Driver for Windows 7 - ThinkPad x200 5NG

you will want to check whetner there is a physical card installed. the x200 does have the card slot, but that does not mean that wwan card is installed. and even then ,its also not confirmed whether you have the wwan antennas installed. you will want to check your windows device manager and make sure you have a 3g modem listed under network adapters. if you dont, the card is unlikely to have been installed physically.

hi i have a new pc that is on a wired connection, my old pc seriously needed restoring to factory settings so i done all that and decided to connect that to the sky broadband, through a wire, but its just not connecting, any help would be appreciated, oh and i,m a bit dumb so in simple terms please

Answer:connecting a 2nd wired windows xp pc to my sky broadband

You could try this:-
On the PC that is already connected:-
Log on
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Network and Internet Connections.
Click Network Connections.
Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet.
Click Properties.
Click the Advanced tab.
Under Internet Connection Sharing make sure that the box Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection is unticked.
On the second PC connect the ethernet cable
From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Double-click Network Connections.
Right-click the Local Area Connection icon, and then choose Properties.
On the General tab, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
Choose Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain a DNS server address automatically.
Click OK.
Switch both PC's off and see if this works
If not
You then need to go into the Sky Router Admin Pages
Type 192.168.0.1 into the URL bar towards the top of the page (not into Google)
This should then take you onto your Router page
It will ask for User name and Password
If you have not changed these they should be Admin and Admin or Admin and Password.
Go to LAN IP Set up and make sure that Use Router as DHCP server is ticked
Switch off both PC's and try again.
Hope you can follow these instructions.

I am trying to "repair" a friend's old PC, an old Packard Bell Pulsar with 200mhz cpu and 32mb RAM. He connects to the net using dial up but I have broadband, I want to download various progs like Ccleaner, Regseeker and Adaware as the computer is a real mess, but although I am using a network card I cannot connect. Will 95 recognise a network adapter,or should I be reconfiguring the internet connection in some way? Would it help if I upgraded from IE5 to IE6? or if I use a Windows 98 Upgrade disk would that solve the problem? Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago. When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately, that has not been appearing since the last few days. I checked my hardware and it appears that there still is a 'Smart Card' but with no information regardin it. I also checked the HP Support Assistant and HP Utility Center but they had nothing. I have tried removing the card and placing it back again. The computer emits the sound that recognizes new hardware but no installater comes up Searching forums, I tried downloading the HP Connection Manager, but it failed to install when an error message ' NO WWAN' came up I also downloaded and reinstalled the latest Mobile Broadband Drivers but nothing happened. In fact, I suspect that it maybe the new updated drivers that caused my T-mobile SIM card to be disabled. I have tried calling HP support but they cannot help and demand payment for 'advanced tech support' when my Laptop is still under Warranty. I tried calling T-mobile, but they said that it was a problem that I needed to contact HP for. I contacted Microsoft that said I need to get in touch with T-mobile. The second call on HP, they told me to contact T-mobile, One big circle. TL;DR: I need the installer for my T-mobile SIM Card, mobile broadband... Read more

Hi How can I use Lenovo drivers with WDS? Are there some special drivers I need to download? When extracting the exe-files there are no inf-files, how have others done it? /rune

Solved!

Answer:T420s drivers for WDS

You can find what you need in a couple of locations.  The factory image has all of the unpacked drivers and software in the SWTOOLS directory on the hard drive. If you are looking for the latest and great, download from support.lenovo.com.  Run the .exe.  The .exe runs in two phases.  The first phase unpacks to c:\drivers.  The second phase runs the setup program for the driver or software.  What you are looking for are the drivers and .inf under the c:\drivers area.

Hi, I recently installed windows 8 release preview on a dell inspiron b130 and everything works fine, except when I press windows + p or go to screen resolutions to hookup my tv. It says to reinstall or check my video card driver. This driver ( for intel mobile (r) 910/915 express chipset series) has not been update since 07, and I can't find any downloads for windows 8 online. Please help me get an updated driver or a workaround to get my monitor projecting onto my tv.

Answer:Intel mobile (r) 910/915 drivers for windows 8

I don't know whether it'll be possible.

The latest drivers from Intel for those graphics are for XP (XDDM). Windows 7 could use XDDM drivers, but without Aero Glass support. Win8 requires WDDM drivers (1.0 is Vista, 1.1 Win7, 1.2 Win8). They don't exist for those graphics. They probably will never exist.

Unless there's some way to get the generic VGA drivers to give you the features you need, you may be out of luck.

One of the drawbacks to the Release Preview is that it doesn't include the compatibility check that you get with the Upgrade Assistant from the RTM (final) version. I suggest that you download and run that. Bad news is expected.

Howdy, I am looking for an older version of Nvidia drivers, specifically: 8.17.12.7658.  The new version (9620) doesn't allow me to select the Nvidia card for certain applications like VLC, WMP, or Media Player Classic.  That being said, I know the Nvidia card automatically runs everything connected to an external monitor however when not using an external monitor, I was able to set my defaults allowing me to multitask without the Intel card being the sole provider.  The old version allowed you to set each specific application, that is why I need to downgrade.  I've searched on Lenovo Support for old drivers but to no avail.  Any help would be appreciated.  Also in the past, Nvidia drivers were more up to date then Lenovo's however when Nvidia added this feature (not being able to select specific programs, or shading the option to), I jumped back to Lenovo's 7658.  My fault for updating to the latest Lenovo driver. Peednus

have you been using ThinkVantage System Update to do your driver updates?
if so, and you're using TVSU v4.x, have a look in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\System Update\session
or if you're using TVSU v5.x: C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\SystemUpdate\session\Repository
you likely have to dig through a good number of subfolders to find the package, but you might get lucky.

Which drivers to you tend to run on your T420s? Are the newer ones more or less stable? I ask because with all the latest drivers installed (Lenovo website) on a fresh Windows 7 64 bit install, I get BSODs.For example, I am having an issue where the latest synaptics driver (16.2.19.14, Rev 01, Date:  2014/08/11) is giving me a BSOD (0x000007E) in Win 7 x64 while running driver verifier on immediate startup. If I uninstall this driver, the BSOD doesn't occur. I seem to remember using drivers around the late 2012-early 2013 period without any issue, but it seems drivers which have been automatically updated by Lenovo system update throughout 2013 and 2014 have caused instead of mitigated system instability. If you also look at the driver update release notes, it doesn't seem any fixes were added for the T420s, only new machine compatibility, and windows 8 compatibility. This tends to make me believe these drivers have not contributed anything new, but only complicated things.

Hello,

I've a Samsung SHG-E200 Mobile. I first had Windows Vista on my PC but now I've upgraded to Windows 7. Mobile's Vista compatible drivers were successfully installed on Vista but now Windows 7 isn't supporting these drivers.

I went to Samsung SHG-E200 official site and they gave Vista Compatible drivers on that site, I downloaded those and installed but still windows 7 isn't supporting those drivers and Windows 7 drivers are not given on the site and I think Vista and 7 should have same driver but I don't know why are not here. So What I do for installing my mobile's driver in Windows 7?

I recently installed Windows 8.1 and it turned out that I could'nt find suitable drivers for the graphics card of my laptop which is GMA 4500, part of Mobile Intel Series 4. After a bit of reading, I found out that many others are also on the same ship as me.

Previously I tried the drivers from Intel Download Center and the modified drivers from eightforums but both of them gave me an error which read something like 'an error occurred while registering one or more components'.

Now that I have the right drivers, or at least right for my laptop, I am sharing them with others here.

I have successfully tested a software that requires OpenGL2.0 with these drivers and it works great!

NOTES

You most probably don't need a custom certificate installer! I did'nt need one. These drivers are digitally signed.

First time poster here!  Thanks!  I like the Thinkpad series, but I do have some questions. Drivers for T420, T420S, T430S...The drivers page for these models is confusing. We overwrite the image that comes factory for our thinkpads.  So when I load Windows 7 there's still obviously a handfull of drivers you still need as well as maybe  some of the options from Lenovo that "improves" functionality.  The confusion for me is around the network cards, wireless...LAN.  The problem we have currently is that the previous image we made/deployed for our laptops contained a mix of conflicting drivers for wireless.  I think I have it fixed on the new image but I want to make absolutely sure we're cool.  We have a mix of both LAN, wireless LAN, and wireless WAN users that we support.  At any rate, what might help is a list of all the specific drivers I need based on my full model number.  Any takers out there for this one?  I doubt this sort of list exists on their website.  When I visit the Lenovo drivers page and search for and click on the link for my full model, i.e. T420s-xxxx, I get a multitude of networking driver options!  Also just curious, what are some of the non essential software from lenovo that you guys like on your systems?  I hesitate to download it all but I think the Thinkconnections piece works very well for wireless to LAN switching...

Answer:Drivers for T420, T420S, T430S and other musings...

Hi, welcome to thinkpad ownership!! on the support page, if you type in your product type, from the sticker at the bottom of the laptop, you will get exactly the dirvers for your machine. My company does the same thing - we buy thinkpads, then we put our own image on it. Personally i like the Access Connections and the Power Manager. I have LAN, Wifi and WWAN, and Access connections is great for swtiching between them, and for being able to change things like the default printer.

I bought an Advent Roma 2001 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium on Saturday but when I tried to install the drivers for my Virgin Media broadband connection using the CD, I got a message saying that the OS was not recognised and I needed to upgrade to ME or XP. Also the Advent came with no manual so I don't know how to access the built-in webcam, I never used digital visual media before so I don't know the programs which one would use, can anyone help please.

Answer:mobile broadband

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I assume you live in the UK like me so I think I can help.

I use 3 mobile broadband which in my opinion is the best of the PAYG tariffs. You can buy a dongle which is the expensive bit or if you have an unlocked 3G phone which allows tethering you can use that if you know how to set it up.
You get 150MB of free data when you top up (minimum ?5 in store, ?10 online) plus it also works as a phone if you want it to.
This 150MB of data lasts 90 days or until you use it all up.
This means it works out you spend ?1.66 for 50MB of data every month, which if you have static broadband at your home should be enough. If you ever use more than this just top up more regularly.

For more info (and probably a much clearer explanation visit 3 - Pay As You Go - SIM Only - Free stuff - Free stuff with every top-up)

I don't know too much about Virgin medias mobile broadband but a good place to start would be here Mobile Broadband - Broadband - Virgin Media

Hope this helps, Oli.

EDIT: After reading your post more carefully, it sound like your do not have your Internet connection going into a Wireless router and then to your laptop and desktop.

This suggests to me that your Virgin Contract may be quite old as all new tariffs include a free Wireless router and setup, not to mention less to pay per month (I went down this road with BT, tripled my connection speed, got a load of free stuff and I now pay ?10 less per month.)
