I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, my company purchased x240s and the GOBI cards separately and of course they purchased the AT&T version and we use Verizon as our carrier. Now here is the thing, even with that branding from the tech specs on the Lenovo shop portal they look exactly the same. When I install the latest drivers for the GOBI card and Lenovo Access Connections I can get it to somewhat work in the beginning and then it stops working. I tried every conceivable way to get it to work all the time but it's a hit or miss until it permanently fails and the sim I use is from an x230 that also has a GOBI card. My question is does it really make a difference if it is branded as AT&T since the GOBI card does work at some point and if it doesn't matter am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help!

Hi all, I have problem with activating Verizon boardband service on my X1 laptop after it is back from the warranty service (bad mother board, my laptop has been working find with Verizon broadband service for 9 months before the motherboard died). I made the research and found this http://support.lenovo.com/en/documents/ht082428 This is the same issue happened on the same model of my laptop, same model of my built-in air card. The only difference is it was the windows 7 and mine is windows 8.1 Unfortunately, the solution on that article does not work for my case. I contacted Lenovo and wait for the level 2 tech support to contact back to me my case number is 302MRJ8. If anyone has any input please feel free to join in. ThanksSteve

Has anyone been succesfull in getting this to work, I've got 15 laptops not one of which is working with the Gobi 5000 and Verizon.   If you have been succesful are you using Verizon Access Manager or Lenovo Access Connections?  How did you go about getting it to connect.  The furthest I've got with all my monkeying around is for Lenovo Access Connections to show Verizon but not be able to connect. Verizon's site mentions nothing of the Gobi 5000 and Lenovo's drivers dont' work,  downloading the Sierra drivers from Sierra allows the device to show in Access Connections but is still not usable.

Has anyone got this card successfully working with Verizon?? SIM is in place and ready for activation with Verizon. When I try to use the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation tool the only options listed are ATT and Other. The other option just says to call your provider. This tool worked for us previously with the x230 and there was always a Verizon activation option. Any help much appreciated!

Answer:Verizon Activation x240 Gobi 5000 EM7355

Lenovo is aware of this issue but they don't have a solution yet. We have been dealing with this problem FOR MONTHS with both Verizon and Lenovo pointing fingers at each other. Until Lenovo fixes the problem, I would advise anyone who intends to use the Gobi 5000 card with Verizon to stay away. There are obviously problems that were not caught in QA that have lingered where our support requests were swept under the rug not acknowledging any problems. For the price you pay for these laptops, you would expect them to be working out of the gate. The X240, T440s/T440 and any laptops that use the Gobi 5000 are not ready for businesses who use Verizon and have a mobile workforce. You're better off slamming your head against the wall rather than wait for Lenovo to fix the problem.

We received 2 brand new X1 Carbon (type 20A7) models and neither have been able to detect the Gobi 5000 WWAN card (Sierra Wireless EM7355, Lenovo Part# 0C52902.)  The X1 Carbon's are running the latest drivers (including BIOS update), Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1- it doesn't matter: They will not detect the WWAN card in the WWAN slot. Tried 2 different WWAN cards straight out of the box from Lenovo (these happen to be the Verizon variants, I don't have any AT&T ones handy) and it's like it doesn't even exist. Yet I can remove either Gobi 5000 card and install it into a T440s and it comes up without any issue. I've tried taking a working and activated Gobi 5000 card out of a T440s and putting it into the X1 Carbon, yet the X1 Carbon refuses to recognize the device exists in Device Manager. I spent about an hour on the phone with Lenovo tech support who ultimately told me my question was "Out of scope" and something they would not handle. The tech even agreed with my frustration that it's listed right on the **bleep** Lenovo product site: "Mobil [sic] Broadband: Sierra Wireless 7355 - Gobi 5000" and couldn't explain why A) It wasn't working orB) Why Lenovo feels a feature listed on their own marketing materials was "out of scope" for support. She also confirmed the part number is exactly the same and the T440s and the X1 Carbon use the identical part. The tech ultimately speculated that some type of magical "system board upgrade"... Are there any Lenovo engineers on the board that have knowledge of the GOBI WWAN chipset? The GOBI website lists the newer T series as machines that support GOBI, but no one at the support line knows anything about GOBI. I need to know if the Verizon UNDP card is actually a GOBI card before I order it, and if it will work with my 2765-T2U. I want to use Sprint here in the states, but I am going to Europe in two weeks and I want to use an HSDPA carrier such as Vodaphone while I'm there. I dont know if I should order the card because I cant seem to confirm anything at all. The phone support people are nice but admit to knowing nothing about it..I've talked to several of them and they told me to come here and find an engineer! Thanks for any help you might provide! Matt

Hi,I am a newbie to this stuff. I cannot get my mobile broadband card to work.I have an X121e which has upgradeable mobile broadband. Foolishly I did not buy this card at time of purchase. I have bought an unlocked Gobi 2000 and installed this and the sim card. I have installed the drivers and the broadband package from lenovo. The Gobi 2000 is shown under ports in device manager (windows 7 64bit) with a com3 allocation.However...in 'access connections' there is no adapter so I cannot set up a mobile broadband profile. Only the lan and wireless card are options. Windows 7 internet connections only gives me wired, wireless and modem options. Searching the internet I think this card needs to be shown as a network adapter.Ideas anyone please?

When I ordered my T410s, I chose the "upgradeable" option.  What does that exactly mean?  Does this mean that I have all the hardware already pre-installed, and I just need a SIM card and a service plan?  I noticed what appears to be a SIM card slot underneath the battery.  Should have thought ahead when I ordered the ThinkPad and had them set it up ready to go from the beginning.  Thanks.

Answer:Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradeable vs. Gobi 2000

Upgradable means you have the SIM slot and built-in antenna, but need to insert a WWAN mini PCI adapter like the Gobi 2000. So you have all the hardware except the WWAN adapter. The WWAN adapter is easy to insert and not that expensive to buy so it's no big deal, but if you are going to use mobile broadband you could as well have bought the Gobi 2000 instead of upgradable. You need a SIM card and a plan as well from a mobile network operator in your country. -gan

This may seem like a stupid question, so forgive me. I am wanting to purchase the x230, and thinking about getting the gobi 4000 card.  However, my questions is this: I have a Verizon Wireless plan with truly unlimited data... one of those that got grandfathered in. Now, can I take the sim card out of my phone, plug it into the gobi card in the x230, and get Internet access? Thanks.

Answer:X230 question regarding the Gobi 4000 mobile broadband cards

Will you get Sierra Wireless mc7750 card (Gobi 4000 for Verizon Wireless, FRU 0A36318) inside of your laptop or install it yourself? If the answer is "yes", my answer for your question is "yes".But as I know Verizon doesn't need sim card for internet access, you just need to activate your modem with plan in carrier' network using Lenovo Mobile Broadband application. Download it from the site.

Hi I believe my W510 (4389-2SU) has a Gobi 2000 Mobile Broadband card installed but I can't tell for your sure. It's not showing up in the device manager list. I've run the Gobi 2000 driver installer and also installed Access Connections. I use ATT so I ran the Gobi coniguration utility to use the ATT image (2) which it seemed to do with no errors. I also updated the Gobi based code as suggested on the driver downloads site How can I tell whether the Gobi card is installed without opening the machine up? Thanks Mark

Answer:Checking for presence of Gobi 2000 Mobile Broadband Card

Hello mate, You don't have a WWAN modem in your machine. The 4329-2SU has just a WWAN option.

I am considering purchasing the GOBI WWAN card.  Lenovo claims the card is compatible with the sprint network.  My carrier is sprint.  I called them up to enquire about how I can get my laptop on my plan, or get it on its own plan.  They said it didn't matter that I had this card.  I will still have to buy a sprint WWAN card.  What's the point in buying it if Sprint won't let me use it?  And why would Lenovo claim I can use it on the sprint network?

Greetings!  I purchased a Thinkpad X201 (running Windows 7 64-bit) withBluetooth   (Bluetooth w/ antenna),  Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters   (Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250),  Integrated mobile broadband   (Integrated Mobile Broadband (Gobi 2000 3G with GPS) ), and  Selectable SIM   (SIM Card: USA ) and I selected Verizon Mobile Broadband.  However, the SMS option on the Tools tab of Access Connections is gryyed out and, per Access Connections Help, "If the laptop does not have sim card, SMS Message box will be greyed out and cannot be used."  Since my laptop is suppose to have a SIM card, I should have SMS functionality/access.  I inquired at Lenovo but did not obtain any help (Owen did not seem to know what was going on at all!).  Verizon wants me to download their VZAccess Manager for SMS.  However, since I have a SIM card and the SMS functionality of Access Connections, I should not need to do so.  Can anyone direct me to the information that I need so that the SMS Message Box will no longer be greyed out and I will be able to send text messages? I had searched for this topic on this forum and found a posting stating that SMS could be enabled by left-click the Mobile Broadband icon on the Tools tab.  However, when I left-click or right-click this icon, the only options are for (i) Account information and Activation and (ii) Data Usage. Any help that you ... Hello! My friend has 5gb Verizon mobile broadband service and she uses the supplied USB Modem on her laptop for her conneciton. If she wanted to use the modem on another PC to connect in her house would that be a problem? Would she have to purchase another modem? I think she has software on her laptop that Verizon installed to connect it, i am sure that would need to be installed to the PC?
Thanks for any help

Answer:Sharing Verizon Mobile broadband with other PC.

She can put that USB aircard into any computer, just install the verizon software and plug it in

If she wants to share the laptop's connection with a desktop (browse the PC on both at the same time) this can be done too with Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) but browsing speeds for both would suck unless she's in a 3G zone most likely

In a bunch of the pre-release reviews they stated that you would be able to choose your wireless data provider. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=6536&review=lenovo+thinkpad+x1+carbon+business+ultr... Apparently, this is not accurate.  When I received my X1 Carbon it had a defective WWAN card.  While on the phone with Tech Support I asked about using Verizon instead of AT&T and was informed that AT&T was the only carrier supported by the X1 Carbon. Not cool that the reviews/promo material that is used to sell the product does not match what is being sent out.

Looks like Sierra Wireless has an embedded solution available. Is Lenovo going to pick up and offer this???!! (http://news.vzw.com/news/2011/01/pr2011-01-04h.html)

"Sierra Wireless AirPrime MC Series modules for LTE networks also support Qualcomm?s Gobi? application programming interface (API). This interface helps streamline integration efforts, spur application development among third-party developers, and delivers greater flexibility to device manufacturers."

Since Lenovo already offers the Qualcomm GOBI module, they must be quite familiar with the API and should be able to dev something for this LTE card fairly quickly.

Let's get with the times, Lenovo!

I went into the local Verizon store today to see what the latest phones available were. While in there the Manager just kept going on and on about how fast their Broadband Wireless service is.....i let him sit there and "wow" me with how fast it was, he just kept clicking on website after website, streaming video, etc.....and granted it was fast enough....but i mentioned i had a Cingular Broadband 860 card that was "just as fast" and it was on

so he challenged me to a duel of sorts, of course my Dell D620 was in the car, and i had some time to kill, so hey, sure, whatever you like....so i grabbed it

we got both systems rebooted and all initial HDD activity stopped....we launch our browsers, typed in the same address, and clicked together and bam, mine was done a good 5-10 seconds before his....okay, lets try another site, same thing, over and over, i even let him choose the sites

so then since we are running different laptops with different browsers i suggested we run simple ping tests through the command prompt to eliminate these factors, and bam bam bam, i completely mopped the floor with him, so i finally cant resist and look at him and ask, "can you hear me now"? ROFL.....the young Asst Mgr was watching the whole thing and he was just laughing along...LOL

then we ran a test at bandwidthspeedtest.com just to be sure, he comes in at 400'ish kbps, mine is hitting 750'ish kbps

I am going to customize new x301 laptop, however i have some questions about Verizon wireless mobile broadband module. For AT&T, i know the hardware device, it's "Ericsson_F3507g_Mobile_Broadband_Module".Could anybody show me the hardware device of Verizon card?  Doing search on web, i just know it's "Verizon Wireless UNDP BroadBand Option"    If my x301 is built in Verizon card (from Lenovo customize), is it also supported GSM, HSPDA? And the sim slot is available (not white/blank slot) so that i can insert GSM sim card into? Do i need to activate or unlock Verzion on my laptop so  that i can use any GSM of any service providers? And how about AT&T wireless mobile broadband, is it the same? Please help me to clarification. Thank you so much.

Answer:X301 wireless mobile broadband Verizon and AT&T

The Verizon module is Qualcomm Wireless HS-USB Ethernet Adapter 9202 The Verizon module supports SIM card and 3G networks for international roaming via Vodaphone. No unlocking needed. AT&T SIM in the Verizon card may work, but is unsupported. The Ericcson card will connect to AT&T networks, but not Verizon EVDO.

Is anyone with Verizon's Mobile Broadband able to get text message on their laptop?  I can't figure out how to do it.Thanks! Josh

Answer:How to receive text messages with Mobile Broadband (Verizon)

Hi, had same problem using Telstra (Australia) SIM.  Found out you have to open access connections, go to Tools Menu, left click on Mobile Broadband and select "Start Text Messaging".Then you will see messages coming from other parties.  Unfortunately messages won't appear unless you do this anbd there is no shortcut to the Text Messaging app that I have been able to find yet.  There may be a command line string that you can utilise but have not found it yet. Regards  W500  Windows Vista Business.

I have a Verizon Mobile Broadband USB760 Card which is connected to a Windows 7 Laptop. The mobile broadband device is shared with the local area connection on Internet Connection Sharing tab under properties of the mobile broadband device. The Ethernet cable is going to the WAN port of a Netgear WNR2000 wireless router. I have set the basic setting screen of the router webpage to the same ip addresses, dns servers, subnet masks, and gateway of the laptop. The ip address of the local area connection of the laptop is 169.254.25.143 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. These settings are automatically acquired from the TCP/IP version 4 protocol. The WAN IP address for the router is 169.254.25.144 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. The DNS server and the gateway setting of the router are both set to 169.254.25.143.

The problem that I am having is that a week ago it worked perfectly but now it does not work at all. I have not changed any settings on the router or the laptop. I have also checked to make sure the device was still shared with the local area connection. What I have noticed is that only www.google.com will load. Attempting to load another website will just say waiting for www.?.com. The ? is any websites that I attempt to load like live.com, xbox.com, yahoo.com, or facebook.com. Also, any webpage will load on the laptop which the mobile broadband device is connected to. So, I do not know if it is the Internet Connection Sharing service or the settings of the router.

So for the last few days I've been trying to learn/figure this out, and I've had no luck. My wife and I purchased two HTC Windows 8 phones that were supposed to be unlocked (through Amazon). Mine works fine without any hitches (I absolutely love it) Her's on the other hand has been nothing but trouble. Here are the problems we are experiencing. We can be sitting right next to each other and she is always on extended network or at best 3G where I will be showing 4G. Her text messages don't send out. Randomly it shows it is on "H" network (couldn't figure that one out either). We have contacted t-mobile several times and they can't seem to find anything wrong on their end. We have switched sim cards and the problem stays on her phone. We've only had the phones a little over a week, but I've found it odd that her startup screen is a Verizion screen even though we are on a T-mobile network. They have had us try to manually setup APN settings, but it does the same thing (staying on extended network and not willing to send texts). It also lacks a lot of options in settings that my phone allows for. I just don't know enough about these phones to have a clue as to what is going on. Is it a bad phone or a bad user? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Where can I buy a unlocked GOBI 5000? The only ones I see on Lenovo.com is $200 for either the Verizon or AT&T brands.. I need one that works with T-mobile

Answer:Where to buy a unlocked GOBI 5000?

What region and network are you planing to use internet in? T-Mobile operates in 3 LTE frequency bands in the US - B2, B4, B12 (for B12 the company planned to start operating just in July 2014) and 3 bands in the EU - B3, B7, B20, in depends of the region and license type. But Gobi 5000 (Sierra Wireless em7355) supports only 2 bands of 6 above - B2 and B4.At the same time Sierra Wireless em7345 LTE card (another one card for the new line Lenovo notebooks) supports 5 bands of 6 above, except of B12. So, there are no advantages for em7355 if you are not planning to work in Sprint LTE network and 3g CDMA/EV-DO networks of US carriers.Supported frequency bands isn't a "locking" feature. It's a design, the set of components, filters. Purchase the card you need on shop.lenovo or altarnate resources.

HiPlug the red antenna cable into the jack labeled MAIN on the card, and the blue cable into the jack labeled AUX. Jack labeled GPS is for the active (!) GPS antenna, laptop hasn't it. That jack might have a voltage (depending on the internal settings), so If you'll connect any regular antenna cable, modem will be broken because of short circuit.Let me ask you: is you location Georgia in the reality? Where are you planing to use em7355 and what types of networks?

Hi there, Using a X1 Thinkpad, with mobile broadband module (Ericsson FG5521gw). When a SIM is loaded it comes up and tells me 'No SIM card found'.I've upgraded all the Lenovo software to the latest versions... including Broadband drivers, Access Connections software, etc.Is this a common problem? It seems to be the case in all industry reviews in Australia for all X1s that were tested.1. http://www.arnnet.com.au/short_review/388015?2. http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/notebooks/lenovo/thinkpad_x1_1291-23m/388015?Is this a known problem?    Do we have faulty broadband modules being shipped?I'll speak to  Lenovo support  -- just wondering if others are experiencing the same issue?

Answer:Thinkpad X1 : Mobile Broadband - Does not recognis...

We have the same issue on german X1s. On mine Lenovo has already changed the mainboard twice and also the WWAN card. No success. Sim is still not being recognized. Seems to be a faulty sim reader on all units. Very sad.  If you get more details from Lenovo on how to fix it i will be glad to hear from you. I am also in permanent contact with them because for me this WWAN feature is essential.

I am poised to purchase an X201 any minute now...but I need some info before I do...

I am currently using a Verizon Wireless USB "air card" (VZAccess) for my mobile/anytime/everywhere internet connection.  I was going to upgrade my device to the new LTE 4G card and extend my plan for another 2 years for wireless through Verizon.  However, I am just now learning about GOBI - I was NOT going to include that option in my new ThinkPad, but now I'm wondering if I should.  I would LOVE not having to mess with that card sticking out of the USB port all the time, so the GOBI option sounds appealing.

My question is this:  the only GOBI option is 2000 3G.  So what is actually the better option - and what are the advantages...Verizon 4G USB modem with 4G monthly service plan (now actually cheaper than previous 3G plan), or the integrated GOBI 3G.  If I am completely confused about the whole 3G/4G thing, will some please explain?  I am of the mind that 4G is better, that the plan is better, but the actual card is a nuisance...that GOBI would be more convenient, but then is an older, almost outdated technology... ??

Any help would be appreciated!  Thank you.

Answer:Help, please! Verizon LTE 4G USB vs GOBI 2000 3G

Hello mate, First you have to know what the cariers call 4G is not really 4G. LTE is really a pre 4G.The Gobi 2000 support HSDPA+ who is 3.5G. HSDPA+ is the most commun connection for the moment. LTE is faster but the network just start to be deployed means there is a lot of black spots. In theses blackspots you will connect in HSDPA+.I think you will have at least 2 years before the LTE network will be deployed.Normally the real 4G will be finalized soon. The race is beetween WIMAX 2 and LTE Advanced. Normally LTE Advanced should be compatible with LTE but really nobody knows. For my point of view, for the moment, it's a bit risky to change everything to gain a bit of speed. This thing remembers me the war beetween HDDVD and BluRay. And at the end people who bought HDDVD have now a useless thing you can't use anymore. For my usage the Gobi 2000 is perfect because is just a second connection when i'm away. The speed is far enough to browse the net and check the mail. Even for download is not too bad but anyway in Australia cost so much money for a plan with a couple of Gigs, I try to don't download too much.

Will the new AT&T Gobi 5000 work with the T530?  Not that it should matter but the innards include an i7-3520M, 16GB 1600MHz, and a 256GB 840 Pro.  I'd opt for the 5000 rather than the 4000 if I knew it was compatible.  Any advice?

I cannot find a GPS signal with a Gobi 5000 card, although the Gobi website plainly says the card it supposed to broadcast a GPS signal.  Can anyone tell me how to do this?  My software (Delorme Street Atlas USA and Microsoft Streets and Trips) each say there is no GPS device,.  The software definitely finds a USB GPS device, but not the built-in Gobi GPS. The Gobi 4000 software came with GPB enabler software, but I cannot find similar software for the Gobi 5000.

Answer:Gobi 5000 card GPS doesn't work.

I have the identical problem. Lenovo tech support has no idea what to ay about it. It has been suggested that my WWAN card needs to be activated with my wireless provider in case that "turns on" the GPS, but that strikes me as patently ridiculous.  I have reference in Device Mgr to a Sierra Wireless Location Sensor, but it is not associated with a COM port, and no software seems able to find it. This is profoundly annoying.

Good morning all. I recently installed a GOBI 5000 WWAN card for AT&T into my new Thinkpad T440p. I downloaded the driver package from the appropriate Windows 8.1 matrix and the computer crashed (blue screen DRIVER_POWER_SAVE) and then restarted. The driver appears to have been installed, as the device manager shows the following entry under networking adapters: Sierra Wireless EM7355 Qualcomm GOBI 4G/LTE/HSPA+/EVDO Also, under the networking portion of the Metro style settings page, the AT&T Broadband modem shows up, and with information regarding the IMEI, IMSI, which I forwarded to AT&T, so as far as they are concered my preexisting Data plan is current with the modem's IMEI number.. Still no luck with connecting. There was mention of Lenovo Broadband Mobile Activation Utility which I found elsewhere on Lenovo's but upon lauching the installer, it says that the current card is not supported. Overall, not sure what to do to get this thing connected to Mobile Broadband, also not sure if incomplete driver installation could be the culprit. I am going to call Lenovo support to see what they can do, will update here.

Answer:T440p WWAN connection GOBI 5000

Just got off with Lenovo Tech Support. They mentioned that theThinkPad GOBI 5000 Mobile Broadband - AT&T GOBI 5000 WWAN card, Part number: 0C52886 using Sierra Wireless EM7355 - GOBI 5000 software (ghwp14ww.exe), version 3.4.1308.3909 as of 13 DEC 2013 may not be compatible with Windows 8.1 which is what I am running currently. I will check on when the updated driver package appears with compatibility for Windows 8.1 and post here, they mentioned that it should be pushed via Lenovo System Update, so I guess I will stay tuned.

I recently purchased a T520 without the broadband option (it wasn't an option at the time).  I first tried a Gobi 2000 from an older T510 laptop but it was apparently not compatible in the T520.  Lenovo said I need the Lenovo Broadband Option with the Gobi 3000 card and they also said it would work with Verizon service.  I just installed the Gobi 3000 and the new drivers from Lenovo.  Verizon support said that there is currently no version of Verizon VZAccess manager software that will work.  Is anyone using the Gobi 3000 with Verizon service?  I suppose I could just get an external 4G device from Verizon but I really want an interal device. Thanks!

Answer:Gobi 3000 not working with Verizon

Okay, I've been working on this for over an hour.  I have the T420S and was told by Lenovo to use the Mobile Broadband software to find the ESN, except they don't make the Mobile Broadband software for the T420S yet. Originally, I went to "Access Connections" (type that in the Start Menu if you can't find it), chose the radio button "Mobile Broadband", and clicked on "Tools". When I clicked on "Mobile Broadband", and "Account Information", all I got was the IMSI and IMEI and ICCID.  There was no ESN or even MEID. So, I went to the "Setup Mobile Broadband" application (type in the Start Menu).  I changed the provider to Verizon, then hit "Start Activation".  I chose to "Activate a new wirless account" and then "Self activation".  I chose "Sign up" and let it try to initialize.  It won't initialize, but after you let it try a couple times, then go back to "Access Connections". Now when you choose "Tools" and "Mobile Broadband", then "Account information", you'll see an MEID number. That can be converted to ESN using the following converter: http://www.humpa.com/vzw/meid_to_esn.php Apparently that MEID number is also on some documentation that came with the computer, but I'm doing this for someone else, so that didn't help me too much.   Additionally, Lenovo said we could open up the computer and find the card and read the number off the card.  The way I did it is much easier than that!&nbs... I've noticed a couple other threads regarding the GOBI 5000 WWAN card on 2014 X1 Carbon machines, so I know I'm not the only one having issues ... I have two new X1s (both 20A7), one with a Verizon GOBI 5000 and another with an AT&T GOBI 5000. The Verizon card installs fine and works, no issues there. The AT&T card has alternately: not shown up at all in Device Manager, shown up as an "unknown" object, and now after uninstalling the driver, removing the card, rebooting, re-installing the card, etc., the driver package installs successfully, but the card shows up under ports as COM4. The description is correct - system sees it as a "Sierra Wireless EM7355 ...". Naturally, Mobile Broadband Activation doesn't see the card and so won't run. In another thread someone suggested they were able to get hold of an older driver package that successfully installed; any hope of getting a link? Or better yet, an updated current driver?

Hi, mauroreggio

If you navigate to Control Panel ? Device Manager, you should be able to see the listed network adapters in the computer. Can you post what these adapters are or take a screenshot of them? If a mobile broadband card is installed in your machine, it should show up there.

Best,
Adam

Hello all,I have ThinkPad T440p with Win7 pro I7 processor,it has SIM adapter under the battery, I insert the broadband sim I have and downloaded Access ConnectionThe app has 4 options WiFi  / Mobile connection / WiMax & Other connections,Why i can't click Mobile Connection ?!!!! it's Inactive with Wimax too. I need to activate it please. Thanks

Answer:Thinkpad T440p: Mobile Broadband - it's Inactive button !!!

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad T440p, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

So after updating to windows 8.1, I can no longer connect to AT&T mobile broadband.  The AT&T app recognizes my sim card, but Windows shows no service no matter where I am! (even tested next to an AT&T tower).  I have the latest drivers installed from the Lenovo driver page, Sierra Wireless MC7700 - Gobi 4000 Software for Windows 8.1 (64-bit).  When it installs though it says Serria Wireless EM7700 not MC7700. Anyone else have this issue? Next issue is I can no longer connect to my corporate wifi which is 802.1x PEAP ,certificate based MSCHP V2.  I can connect to other non PEAP wifis without issue.  So at work I'm tied to an ethernet USB adapter when not on my USB 3 hub.Any help for the above issues would be much appreciated! I have model #3698-4UU

What is the impact on battery (Windows and Linux)?6. Is AliExpress a good place to buy? Thankyou

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250

Regarding your questions:1) I personally use it and it's really good, as I don't want to use additional USB modem or WWAN wireless router.2) Can't say, as I don't use Fedora.3) There's a dedicated port for this module. Please make sure, that you have an antenna connectors for module and adapter for a SIM card. Moreover, instead of WWAN module, you can install there a m.2 2242 SSD disk.4) Both can be enabled and connected, but application will use one at time.5) I have an extended battery, so it's hard to tell. I guess it have a simmilar power usage as WLAN module (basing on Windows power utilization). Can't say about Fedora.6) It you don't want to have a problem with whitelist (it prevent system from booting, when unauthorized module is installed), then I look for module on eBay. Make sure, that photos explictly show FRU PN: 04X6014 on module's label. Models without it will not work.

You don't really need this software to use your WWAN card, in fact even you succeed to install it, it might prove unuseful to you (Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation is an application for ThinkPad systems to support mobile broadband (3G/4G) activation for various service providers)(various providers not equal all providers). You could use Windows to manage the WWAN connection directly. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/use-mobile-broadband-to-connect-to-the-internethttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/mobile-broadband-from-start-to-finish

you will want to check whetner there is a physical card installed. the x200 does have the card slot, but that does not mean that wwan card is installed. and even then ,its also not confirmed whether you have the wwan antennas installed. you will want to check your windows device manager and make sure you have a 3g modem listed under network adapters. if you dont, the card is unlikely to have been installed physically.

Has anyone experienced problems with e mail page layouts when using Vodafone or T mobile dongles.I thought the problem was a new layout on my talktalk e mail page, but it seems to be only when I am working away from home & I use one of the mobile dongles. I have had the issue checked out with talktalk & it is not the talktalk e mail that's causing me to see a completely different layout than when I access e mail via my modem at home. The layout when using a mobile dongle is very basic & does not allow me to alter fonts, underline, do italics or even attachments etc. Very strange & frustrating & only started happening last Friday.Regards, CGM.

I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.

The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.

Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.

Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Wilson, welcome to the forum,

you will need to purchase and install the appropriate WWAN card for your T400. According to the support site it's "upgradeable"; this means the antennae and sim slot are present, but not the WWAN card.

Hi. One of our customers is having a rather strange issue with his mobile broadband connection after upgrading his machine to Windows 10. His internal 4G card from time to time more or less disappears. It will not show up as an option in the network menu and is unresponsive in the network card settings. He frequently uses power save mode whilst going between meetings and such. Last time we looked at it (we've updated drivers and firmware) the network card "appeared" again after a reboot. Is there a known issue with mobile broadband network cards an frequent use of power save mode?

Good day everyone, first off, thanks for letting me ask a question here
I have a 3G Vodafone Mobile Broadband dongle and am trying to install and use it on an Acer 5744 Travel mate. I have downloaded the latest software version and installed it on the laptop. When I run the Vodafone application my laptop hangs and becomes non-responsive, indicating to me a software/hardware conflict. I have disabled anti-virus software and firewalls with no positive effect. The crazy thing is it works fine on my Alienware laptop, but refuses to work on the Acer? Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for me please?

Appreciate any assistance I can get here
M.

I have a T400 with the built in Qualcomm Gobi card that was originally sold as Verizon only.  I have ATT and didn't want to switch so I was using an external card. I noticed that the latest version of the Lenovo driver said that it added ATT support.  I figured I would give it a shot. It took a lot of installing and uninstalling but I got it to the point where it would see the tower and try to get an IP address.  I had to go into the network properties of the Qualcomm card and enable IPv4 networking to get it to work.Just posting in case this helps someone else!Getting 1.81 Mb/S down and 1.23 Mb/S up with a 161 Ping but I only have a 48% 83dbm signal

Hi all I've been trying to activate the Gobi 3000 in my W530 for the past couple of days.  Although I have installed the drivers and I am able to see the "Mobile Broadband Connection" in network properties, it seems to be locekd to Verizon or Sprint (deponding on which OS I boot into) and I can't find anywhere to change this, even though I have a SIM card from the local telco (Telkom Mobile in South Africa).  Can someone please explain how to go about doing this?  The Gobi 2000 in my W510 was simply a few clicks, but this seems to be a whole different can of worms.

Hi Guys,

First of all, as a new member, i'd like to apologize if some of my difficulties were already explored in some other threads, altough i've searched and did not found them.

I have bought a Toshiba Portege R600-12H with Windows 7 Professional.

Currently I have 3 problems:

- My touchpad moves the cursor without anyone touching the pad. For example, if i move the cursor into the top of this text and start typing, in a few moments i'll be typing in the top of this text. Anyone has ideas ?

- Since i'm having all this Pad issues, i do have a bluetooth mice which is working great. I keep on disabling the pad with th FN F9 function, but disabling this, i'm also disabling the fingerprint sensor. When i try to login with my fingerprint, nothing happens, and if i try to execute the toshiba fingerprint utility, it shows a message saying: "it's not possible to connect to the sensor"

- The 3g toshiba mobile broadband isn't working. It recognizes the SIM card but i'm not able to make any kind of connection to my provider.

Thank you very much for all the help you might bring to this thread.

Hi guys,I have a t410s with gobi 2000 and t-mobile sim card with unlimited data plan. Is there any way I can make T-Mobile USA SIM Card to work with ThinkPad Gobi 2000. I followed the topic"Thinkpad + T-Mobile = WORKS!" posted by "LoveIsMe ". I connected with T-MOBILE, but I only can surf t-mobile homepage. Is there any ways I can get rid of this limitation? Thanks.

Answer:Gobi 2000 + T-mobile

You probably need to configure a custom profile in Access Connections to get it working. However, you will not be able to get 3G speeds on T-Mobile with the Gobi 2000 since it does not support T-Mobile's 1700mhz 3G band.

I was told by a sales rep that the 78Y1399 GOBI 2000 Broadband option would work for a T500.  I purchased the option and installed in into the T500 without a problem.  Fired up the system and was greeted with the unauthorized hardware message.  I ran the latest T500 bios update but that didn't address the problem.  Is there a utility or update that can authorize a Lenovo GOBI 2000 card in a T500?

Hmmm... the T500 Hardware Maintenance Manual doesn't list the newer GOBI 2000... just the Ericsson F3507g and Qualcomm UNDP1 (GOBI 1000).  Either of those will work.

Bevpro, If everything is correctly installed, then you should be able to connect using Lenovo Access Connections. I have the same card, and I'm able to connect via Access Connections. Access Connections (Advanced view) should have two profiles:HSPA Mobile Broadband -- this is the one for AT&TVerizon WirelessSelect HSPA Mobile Broadband profile, and it should walk you through connecting to AT&T. Good luck,

Brand new HP Z Book 17 [email protected] It has the embedded 4211 GOBI LTE broadband device installed. (Verified by removing the cover and looking at the label pasted on laptop. The SIM was working in another laptop with no issues. SIM/IMEI was provided to Verizon and verified configured properly in the network. HP connection manager shows  broadband wireless connects to the Verizon network on the first try but there is no data connectivity. Unable to connect to anything with a browser. This is done without the laptop connected to any network. The laptop works perfectly on WiFi LAN and Wired LAN connections though. The HP connection manager show NOTHING in the "Mobile Broadband" tab which seems to indicate the HP connection manager is not talking to the GOBI properly even though it connects to the Verizon network. The lastest 4211 driver on the website appears to have issues during installation as it states "unsuccesfully installed" several times. HP, what is the issue here ? Brand new laptop, working SIM card, Wireless Broadband connectivity is no functional !!!!!!!!

I have an issue with the Qualcom GOBI broadband option for Verizon.  I can connect fine, but my machine will power off the wireless LAN radio after a few minutes (not consistant time period.  It appears that this happens only when I am on battery power, which leads me to believe it is a power saving issue.  I think I have changed all of the appropriate powersaving settings and even turned of the "allow the computer to turn of this device to save power" in device manager, and it still persists. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise x64, the latest verizon access manager, and have mad sure all lenovo/qualcomm drivers are up to date. Any ideas?

dell sells a gobi card,  http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Wireless_WiFi/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&s...  , that would physically fit in the T400s. Lenovo has qualcomm drivers . Anyone have an opinion whether this card would work in the t400s? My concern is that it might be "locked" so as to only work wth specific Dell models. The card provides compatability with multiple carriers such as verizon, AT&T, and others rather than just one carrier.  Also could be used with GPS. I cannot find a version of this card specifically designed for the T400s. * Note for Lenovo - this would be a sought after option to avail your customers of.

Answer:T400s with Gobi 5600 multimode broadband mini card & GPS

The T400s Hardware Maintenance Manual specifies an FRU 42T0961 Qualcomm UNDP1 WWAN card, which is a Gobi card. Looks like IBM parts are selling it.  That would be all you would need for a WWAN Upgradeable ThinkPad (orange and blue antenna cables already installed - see the HMM).  A non-Lenovo card like the one you mention would most likely give an 1802 BIOS error "Unauthorized network card".  I have no idea if that card is SIM-locked - maybe someone reading this does?

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

Hi, I have installed new win 8 on my T410s and I cant find the driver for the gobi 2000. can you direct me? thanks Doron

Answer:gobi 2000 driver for windows 8 - thinkpad t410s

Hi, doronei

I cannot find any Windows 8 drivers for your system on Lenovo's website. Drivers are sometimes compatible with different versions of operating systems than those listed, so I would try the drivers here and see if it helps. You will likely need the driver for activation of the card and the driver itself, so make sure you get both of them. If it does not help, then you will be able to uninstall it from Device Manager.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Hi all, I've just bought a new ThinkPad W510 equipped with the Mobile BroadBand Option: Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Mobile Broadband Device 9205. I've installed from scratch Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit as the Operating System and then I've updated every specific driver using the Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update v.4.0 utility. So, in Network and Sharing Center, I've a new running Mobile BroadBand Connection labeled as Verizon Wireless and then it comes my problem. I'm writing from ITALY and in my country there is NO Verizon Roaming Connection available. I'm also using a pre-paid contract SIM card with Vodafone IT provider, inserted in the correct back-battery SIM-slot. Is there a way to configure the Gobi 9205 device to work correctly with Vodafone provider? I've just searched a lot on google without results. The only suggestions derive from this web page: CLICK HERE But it seems to be a specific GobiLoader for Gobi 9201/9202 device and not for mine 9205. I've tried to launch the loader.exe but it seems that the file and some specific informations about the firmware/driver mismatch from the two versions. So, is there any official Lenovo way to use Mobile Connection with Vodafone provider? Thank you all in advance!

Answer:ThinkPad W510 and Qualcomm Gobi 2000 9205

Hi guys, after a research inside the driver unpackaged folder I've found a Readme doc file. I've found the way to install another firmware for Gobi 2000 9205 with specific provider informations. After a complete uninstall of Qualcomm Gobi 2000 drivers, at the command prompt, in the folder with the unpackaged driver, I need to enter this string: Setup.exe /i /l DEFAULTIMAGE=0 GPS=1 WIN7DRIVER=1 LOCATIONDRIVER=1 where the "DEFAULTIMAGE=0" substring indicates the provider to use.It seems that installation process completes fine, I can find inside the "C:/Program Data/QUALCOMM/" folder, a log file which indicates that the firmware loaded is the one from the "0" folder, where "0" means Vodafone. These are the informations about the folder with the corresponding firmware I've found on google: Vodafone 0Verizon 1AT&T 2Sprint 3T-Mobile 4Generic UMTS (North America) 5Generic UMTS (Europe) 6Telefonica 7TIM 8Orange 9Telstra 10 But the problem is not solved. Despite the Vodafone information has been clearly written inside the log file, in my Network and Sharing Center there is always "Verizon Wireless" as WWAN network connection :-( How can I solve this problem? Why is the Verizon provider persistent even if I've installed the driver with the "0" (Vodafone) default image? Where am I wrong?I'm an IBM of Italy employee and I need a working WWAN connection with Vodafone provider ASAP. Thank you in advance!

Hello, I've just bought a Gobi 2000 WWAN Card for my Thinkpad Edge 13 in order to use WLAN and WWAN. I assumed that, because I can use this both functions on demand with my T400 (with integrated WWAN option). Now as I got the card I was shocked, that there are not enough screws to hold the WLAN and the WWAN card and that there seems no way in sharing the antenna cables. Do you know a way run the WWAN card together with the former installed WLAN card, cause I would like to use the WWAN option as well as the WLAN option without changing the cards and antenna connectors. Do you know a way to use both cards and share the antenna cables or it is only possible to run one of this both pcie cards ? Regards Jens

When I place a simcard in the cardholder. The Lenovo software says 'no simcard installed'It's a KPN(dutch) simcard. I'd like to try the HTC One M8, and while I know there's a T-Mobile version, there seems to be a lot more Verizon versions out there for sale.
While using the Verizon version on T mobile, I've heard that the two things that don't work are visual voicemail and MMS. Any progress made on this front? Did the new update allow anybody to change any more settings?
Also, since the Verizon and T-Mobile version (to my knowledge) are identical hardware wise, is it possible to flash the T-Mobile version on top of the Verizon one? I've read about Android users who have done just that for the exact same phone.

Answer:HTC One M8, Verizon version on T mobile?

They are not identical in terms of hardware. The cellular radios are completely different. No I would not try to cross flash them. The Vzw has CDMA radios on board and the T-Mo is GSM all the way. In Android hacking, the radio can be switched out of a ROM with some skill. I don't think this is possible with Windows Phone devices.
In addition to MMS and VVm issues, you would not get T-Mo WiFi calling or any other carrierware such as the anticipated SoftCard App. I would expect data speed discrepancies as well.

Anyone have any experience with verizon's mobile internet? Is it reliable? How are the speeds? What about in remote areas? Should we wait for WiMax, or is that far away enough that a 2yr contract won't be annoying? Or is there a 1yr contract they don't talk about?

They adverstise $59.99, but knowing telecoms there are a ton of other fees, so I'm wondering what your true monthly cost is. We are trying to compare this to the $40/mo we are currently paying for wireless hot spots.

The big question: If you get two of these wireless pc cards, can two people use the account? Of course both of you can't log in at the same time, but one at a time?

Thanks for you input!

Hello everyone, I'm facing a problem with the Thinkpad E130 and the integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355 Gobi 3000 broadband modem. I can't use them with my SIM cards. No connection is established. I'm sure that a modem is integrated since it was specifcally ordered with it and it shows up in the device manager. What I ruled out:- Hardware defect: There is a second Thinkpad E130 with the same setup, where it doesn't work either.- Service provider problem: Tried two SIM cards from two different service providers.- SIM card problem: SIM cards work in mobile 3G router. What I did:- Shut down the notebook- Put a sim card in the slot in the back of the laptop, behind the battery.- Reboot the notebook and start the Thinkvantage Access Connections software.- The sim card usually does get detected and a suitable profile is shown automatically.- Nonethless I created a profile myself. More exactly two profiles for the two service providers. The data for the APN, etc. is gathered either from the internet or from a second software I use.- I try to connect with the profile which is automatically shown and the self-created profiles.- It tries for several minutes but then quits with an error message: 'Unable to connect to network at this time due to out of coverage or Your SIM-card may not be activated.
