Windows 7 Control Panel Display and Intel Graphics Media Control Panel Constantly

Question: Windows 7 Control Panel Display and Intel Graphics Media Control Panel Constantly

I have a Nvidia NVS 5200 M running with Intel 4000 and Windows 7 on a Lenovo T430S.Whenever I load the Control Panel -> Display settings, I can see options just fine, but I click on any of the drop down menus and they appear for a second, then immediately disappear (fast enough that I can't change settings). There's a similar problem when I look in the Intel Graphics Media Control Panel. It constantly appears to be "loading" - the mouse icon turns into a little blue circle off an on, continuously. Similar thing with the settings, too - they appear and let me change them, but immediately return to the original setting. I can change them if I act SUPER quickly to make the change then click Apply. But 99/100 I'm not fast enough. All drivers are up to date. I have no idea what to do (reinstall or uninstall this Intel Graphics control panel? How? Or somehow change a setting on my graphics card). Please help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Windows 7 Control Panel Display and Intel Graphics Media Control Panel Constantly

Try uninstalling both drivers, then reinstalling them. Sometimes a clean driver update works better.

I'm using an HP Probook 450 G1 with the Intel HD 4600 chipset, and I'm unable to launch the Graphics Control Panel from the desktop shortcut, the .exe found in the Windows/System32 folder, and I can't find it under the "Advanced" section of the Screen Resolution dialogue.Checking the device manager reveals the Intel HD 4600 driver is installed and working, and I attempted reinstalling and rolling back to previous versions (I even manually installed the drivers using the device manager) to no avail. I'm using Windows 7 Professional, all important Windows updates installed, and I have the latest BIOS.Any thoughts?

I am struggling to find a solution to this - hopefully someone will be able to help.

Windows 10 recognises two displays - the external monitor and the laptop display. However, under Intel's control panel, it only shows the 'built-in display' in the drop down menu, which is the laptop's display. There should also be the external monitor. Lacking this, I am unable to adjust the gamma and brightness - I've already tried a couple of gamma utilities without success.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled fresh Intel drivers and also the displaylink adaptor which the monitor is plugged into via HDMI.

Would greatly appreciate a solution, even if it means some sort of registry fix.

Thanks

Hi guys,
basically I am unable to open the Intel control panel on my Alienware M14X R2. Whenever I try to open it I get the following error:

GfxUI.exe - .NET Framework Initialisation Error

Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application.

So far I have tried uninstalling .NET framework and re-installing. Changing administrator rights to the appropriate files (now changed back to normal as this didn't work). Re-installing the intel drivers.

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to re-install windows but before I do I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this issue?

I should also mention that the graphics are all working as they should!
Thanks

These utilities were installed on my XPS 15 9550. Both of them seem to have options for tweaking display colors. Mostly I am confused about why they are installed, what is the differences between them, and how to best use one or the other or both.
I have changed some settings, but they don't always seem to behave consistently, especially Dell PremierColor. DPC also seems to crash or restart when I play around with it. Can I just uninstall it?
Does anyone have any best practices for managing screen appearance?

Hi I recently got a new laptop: HP Pavilion dv6-6b12ed

I have a Control panel from Intel where I could change the colors of my screen and other stuff, but I can't get it to open!

Here's my weird problem: It shows in the system tray but when I click it I see this:
http://i42.tinypic.com/mn2qki.png

When I try to click on it, or anywhere else, it disappears and the program won't open.
I've even tried ALL methods in this following link: Graphics — How to open the Intel? Graphics Properties window

I think the problem will be solved if I can re-install the driver, but I've no idea what to (un)install.

Help and advice would be appreciated.
If you need any additional info on my system specs, just ask me or look up my laptop specs.. .

Answer:Can't open Intel Extreme graphics control panel suddenly

Okay... I download a driver from Intel site, and it has been fixed BUT...
I can't switch to my HD 6770M Graphics card, instead of the Intel HD 3000 Graphics card. I Used to have a AMD Optimus thing but it's gone now! I get a Catalyst Control Panel with limited options now instead.

So I've done a system restore for time being, if anyone could explain to me how to fix all this crap.. It would be appreciated.

After installing windows 10(clean) and the drivers, I noticed Intel HD Graphics Control Panel displays nothing(except the main page wich its ok). I'm using 2 displays(3 sometimes) so I need the control panel to config them the right way. I don't know if it's because of the drivers or windows 10 but my prior instance of win10 was ok.
note that:
- I always installed the OEM provided drivers in the right order(intel first). ofcourse after the problem I tried the other sequence and even updated the drivers from Intel and AMD and again installed(removed the previous and restarted the machine everytime) in both sequences.

- I don't want to install windows again(Preferably)

these are the screenshots:

hello everybody, my name is Brian, I own a dell xps 13 (9350) purchased in 2017, but its the 2016 model with intel iris 540 graphics, its also the model with the QHD+ touch-screen, 3200x1800 resolution.
not sure if it matters what else the system has spec-wise, but ill include that also.

My question is in regards to the colors, and what this screen is producing picture/video quality-wise when I'm viewing colorful photos, or watching videos with colors on youtube;

I've watched quite a handful of videos on youtube about the dell xps 13, and a lot of them suggest that this laptop comes "a touch off" in terms of color gamma and/or color accuracy - whatever that means, but they say the xps 13 out of the box, with no settings adjusted other than what dell and intel have done, that the color and screen needs to be calibrated.

how do I know what to do and how to check if I need it? I mean, everything seems to be good looking, but if its off and I just don't know it, I would like to know how to modify these "said" settings, as I want the most out of my xps 13!

I'm also experimenting with different power-plan settings, trying to configure this machine for the best possible battery-life, and also longevity in overall-life span. meaning I want to preserve this machine in ways possible, without reducing any of the added benefits of having such a high-performing laptop.

I bought this xps 13 from a friend, we actually traded. I gave him my ipad... Read more

My XP machine recently had a DVD drive failure that caused it to not boot, but my first reaction, based on getting a "Video cable connected?" message on the monitor led me to believe that the video card had gone south, so I purchased a PNY nVidia GeForce FX 5200 video card. I just got the computer up and running after installing a new DVD drive. I downloaded the latest driver for the video card, and everything seems to work except when I click the Systray nVidia icon and select nVidia Control Panel, it goes nowhere. I have tried nVidia's site, and they tell me to go to the manufacturer. So I go to PNY's site, and they provide no support beyond their knowledge base, which contains nothing about this issue (really poor support; this will be my last purchase of a PNY product).

Anyone have a clue as to why I cannot open the nVidia control panel?

Answer:Solved: nVidia graphics card -- won't display control panel

For any who viewed this thread, the problem has been solved. I wound up uninstalling the video card from Device Manager, uninstalling the drivers, and reinstalling the same (most up-to-date) drivers, and the problem went away.

Good evening,

I've noticed a difference in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization between editions of Windows 10.

My wife's laptop is running Windows 10 Home, and her personalization screen looks like this:

I'm running Windows 10 Enterprise, and my personalization screen looks like this:

Notice that the menu options on the left, and quick access to change the theme settings on the bottom are missing from the enterprise screenshot.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is it simply a difference between editions? Or is there a setting that is not turned on in my installation?

Thanks in advance!

What's triple buffer? I see it in graphics control panel all the time but i don't know what it is.

Answer:What is Triple buffer in Windows 7 graphics control panel?

Buffer is a term to mean processing information and then presenting it. Perfect example is if you go to YouTube and your connection is a little slower, you'll see that circular icon when the video freezes, that means the video is buffering.. its downloading more data, the computer will process it then display it to you. Graphics cards work the exact same way, it can multi-buffer a game or video so you can see/work with it clearer. I do not however recommend triple buffer in a computer that can't breathe, that's a good way to burn something up.

Hi! - I've searched just about everywhere here re missing control panel. I found a couple of answers but all say the solution does not work with Windows XP Media Edition. I'm afraid to make things worse, so I haven't ran Highjack This not sure if I should. The symptoms, popup messages, etc. are the same as the other posted here. I tried Safe Mode, and can see CP but not allowed to view or access programs, etc. It's obviously a virus, but can't run and/or download Mcaffee (free or paid) as I'm not "authorized". I downloaded free Avast virus scan, this fixed other problems, but not this one (obviously). Just about a day or two short of reinstalling OS. I would really appreciate any insights on how to fix this problem.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Regards,
PD

When I open control Panel there are no icons displayed and i cannot add/remove programs because the icon is not there to click on

Answer:Windows 7 control panel window does not display any icons

Weird....try a reboot and see if that does anything. If it doesn't, go to safe mode and see if you can see your icons there. I would bet you anything you will - and if that's the case, try a system restore to a time before this started happening. If that's not available or doesn't work, the only option available to you is to backup your stuff and reinstall Windows, as it means that there are some system files missing from Windows.

Hello,

I have explorer.exe crashing when I try to open the Control Panel on Seven x64 and on some right clicking on files and on anything I search or try to open in the Start Menu.
I think the problem started after I created the Godmode folder through Windows 7 Manager from Yamisoft (I managed to get rid of Godmode anyway).

I can access all components of the Control Panel through the cpl files in Windows directory and none crashes but if I try to open the main Control Panel window explorer crashes.

I run ShellExView and disabled all Shell extension which are NOT from Microsoft and the problem persist.
The problem doesn't occur in Safe Boot mode.
I checked the Event Viewer and the explorer crashes have this info:

I try to change the resolution back, but the Resolution option is greyed out?
A warning underneath says: If your resolution is below 1024 x 768, some items may not fit on the screen.

Any ideas how to fix yet another Windows problem?

Answer:Windows 7\Control Panel\Display greyed out my resolution change option

Check your display adapters under Device Manager (Right click My computer>Properties>Device Manager). If there is an exclamation mark next to your video adapter, then there is an issue. Try resintalling the driver (online or CD that it came with, doesnt matter to start). After the install, reboot the system and then verify that the resolution can be changed.

Hey Guys, I just got a new system , I always had in power options in control panel to "DIM THE DISPLAY" and now in win 10 there is no option to dim the display .. I thought it had to do with the Nvida driver .. or something like that ... Anyone know how to add this option? Thanks in advance!

Answer:Where is Dim Display in Control Panel?

There was a person asking the same question in this forum some time ago.
The only options we can find in Windows 10 is to go to Power Options and manually change the brightness slide.

In my laptop keyboard, I have 2 keys, one with an arrowhead pointing left, and one pointing right.
If I press the Fn key and hold > I can then adjust the brightness by pressing the arrowhead key point left for decreasing, and the other one for increasing.

I wonder if you have similar keyboard setup.

This ( the image on top left of the screenshot ) will appear if I use the Fn key + arrowhead key.

OK - I am starting my own "thread".

I can not get a photo or anything other than a "color" to be my desktop wallpaper. When I am in the control panel - display - the only buttons that are active are the "browse" and "color" buttons. The "position" button does not work. I can't even get one of the Windows backgrounds to display.

The photo I choose to use is there somewhere because it is visible briefly when I start mycomputer. Then it disappears and is replaced by a "color" only screen.

This is a very recent problem. I'm guessing some settings are incorrect.

Please help if you can.

Since I am the only user (and only administrator) I do not understand. I can right-mouse-button-click on an image and set my wallpaper/background, but none of the other display properties.

Please send me help! You can also email me at-

I am running ATI Catalyst, latest version. The Catalyst control center allows me to adjust display resolution but not wallpaper (or themes..)

When I right click on desktop, and hit Properties, nothing happens (brief white flash as popup quickly opens and closes).
Same thing when I select Display in Control Panel.

I've tried Kellys Korner 'restore all display tabs' - nada

All values in registry curent_user/software/microsoft/windows/current version/policies/system are 0.

I tried the following (below, found here), value was already zero.

thank you
bob

>Click on START, RUN and type REGEDIT, press OK. This opens the Registry Editor. Be careful not to change anything!!!!

Look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER - click on + to expand it.

Click on - Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Policies, System.

Then, under System, look for the file called NoDispCPL - this means it's the settings for displaying the Control Panel.

Highlight NoDispCPL and double click - a box will appear called "Edit DWORD value"

In the box called Value Data, it will have the number "1" - change this to zero "0".

Click OK

Close the Registry Editor.

You should now have access to your control panel Display settings. __________________

Answer:display control panel issues in XP

ur problem = incorrect drivers i get this problem when i dont install my driver.. you need the exact correct driver for your gpu/video card. if you dont get this your screen will kinda reload when u scroll or.. (lazily scroll) and you wont have many video functions (ect refech + resoloution rates...) what video card are you using...

EDIT::
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 AGP driver<<that is your graphics cards...

OK,I have all of my regular items on the right side of the start menu set up to display in menu form.I like to see everything available to me with a simple mouse over.In the case of Control Panel, the list is "taller" than my screen. This annoys me to no end.Is there a way to make this display as two columns? In XP this was a simple check box for "scroll programs",though I can't find anything to make this display change.Same goes for the All Programs menu-I hate the right side column slider, and would love to see the taller all inclusive list as in XP.Any work around for these? On a side note.I've gone from XP straight to 7,and never even booted a rig running Vista,so be gentle please.

Windows XP Pro SP3; ASRock 775VM800; Pentium 4; 3GHz; 2Gb RAMWhen I open the control panel>display>desktop the display properties dialog box appears to freeze. What is actually happening is that every single image contained within my "My Pictures" folder is being loaded and made available for selection as wallpaper. This takes a very long time, as there are many thousands of images in the folder. How can I reset the search to the default folder, and prevent this?I have tried using the "Browse" button, which works normally, but next time I open the dialog box it reverts back to loading the entirety of "My Pictures"

Answer:Control Panel display properties

Do you have Picasa. If so you can use it to make one of your pics the background. Picasa should put this in the Picasa edits file and then when you open the properties it should only load the contents of the edits file, which should be just one image.

do you have the Nvidia control panel under your desktop "Right Click" options?

If you do, open it up and choose the "Set up multiple displays " option.

You should see a grey box with two numbered smaller boxes in them.

Swap them by holding a left click over one of the numbered boxes and moving to the other side of the grey box.

Hello

I've had my laptop for over a year now, and this issue just arose. The colour settings on Intel control panel seem to have changed. However, when I set it back to 'default' it's super bright, and almost impossible to read text.

Could someone who is running Windows 8, and has Intel Control Panel tell me what settings they have (under display -> Colour enhancement)?
The settings I'm currently using are as close as I could get to the original (in terms of colour) [Pic 1]

I can't show you what it looks like, because screenshots just display the screens as normal looking, and if I use a camera, the pictures will appear too bright/dim anyway.

Why are the default settings on Intel so bright?

I just connected external speakers to my Dell Windows 10 computer and want to use a graphics equalizer to alter the sound (remove bass frequencies) from my GoPro videos. I'm trying to use Windows GE - access from start/control panel/sounds/speakers/enhancements - but It doesn't alter the sound. I've exited the GoPro app, I've tried listening to youtube videos to see if it works there, and nothing. Any suggestions?

Answer:can't get graphics equalizer in Control Panel to function

check control panel for your Soundcard Maker's App , Eg Realtek the GE maybe off ?, though I am not sure how you are controlling it from that location above ? CP>Sound>Sounds> is where Windows sound schemes are enabled eg the windows startup sound , or new email etc. but I think you mean CP>Sound>Playback>Speakers>Properties>Enhancements ? (I don't have any settings there on this comp. but I do on my new one , but they are set via the Realtek software too)

Also make sure your speaker are setup correctly in the Makers App or CP>Sound>Playback> stereo/Quad/5.1 etc.

some Dolby and DTS variants only work with 2 speakers or headphones too

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and I can't seem to find my Graphics control panel to control 3d graphics and such. It's completely gone. I use to be able to right click my desktop and go straight to it now its gone. The other way I use to get to it is by right click my desktop and going to Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings and there use to be something that would take me there too. I've gone to Device Manager and have made sure that everything is up to date. This is driving me crazy it just completely removed my graphics control panel, and I think it's reset my graphics too so I need to be able to change it but I can't. I've searched the Internet and youtube and still can't find anyone having this problem.

This is how I use to get to it: http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/grap...ingsvista.html That is completely gone.

Answer:Nvidia Graphics Control Panel is missing

Hi, can you go to Control Panel, Device Manager, Display Adapters, rt click on the device, properties, and check what driver is actually installed?

And what device is listed there?

I found when I upgraded from Win 8.1 that initially a basic MS driver was installed (and the screen display stretched to the right off the physical screen). Only after quite a few hours did I get an Nvidia driver automatically installed.

So guys, did Lenovo screw us over on this one thanks to Optimus or what? Apparently no matter what driver I use, the y580 only uses the Intel chip for Display Scaling, so I can't do custom resolutions. Anyway to override this thru BIOS or a custom driver or will I have to return this and demand a refund?

Answer:660M - No "Display" tab in Nvidia Control Panel

Alright, so an update to what I've found so far: You *can* set custom resoloutions within the Intel Graphics Properties panel (Advanced View) but any resoloution you set only gives you the "This custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth" even though the HD4000 should handle it fine + the 600m handles 2560x1440 just fine. Great. Fantastic. $1000 spent right here.

I have WinXP Home with an ATI AIW 9800 Pro video card. For some reason, my system will crash (blue screen of death) whenever I try to go into the following:

Click on DISPLAY

As soon as I click the Advanced button, the blue screen of death appears and I have to completely reboot. It doesn't even get to the tabs that show Color Management, Adaptor, etc.

Also, when I boot my computer and while it is still loading everything (after it shows my desktop but before the hard drive stops loading stuff at bootup), I'll get the "Windows has recovered from a serious error" message but everything seems to be okay. If I click on the SEND button to send Microsoft an error report, it comes up with the following page:

First I used the Catalyst remover tool to uninstall the current drivers. Then I rebooted and installed the latest ATI drivers for my video card and of course rebooted again. Same problem.

2. I can't install latest Windows update. It keeps failing.
4. Ad Aware suddenly disappeared, and I can't reinstall because it says I'm missing a Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime file which does exist when viewing Control Panel/Add/Remove in Safe Mode.

What would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Answer:Unable to Display Add/Remove in Control Panel

This is a core malware/spyware issue, and not a Windows XP issue. I'd have appreciated it not being redirected to this new location without having been addressed.

The problem began with what I think was a faulty Firefox upgrade.

I detected four or five Trojans using Malwarebytes in Safe Mode that weren't detected in Normal mode.

As noted above, I can't reinstall Ad Aware.

At the onset of this (these) issues, I scanned and removed and detected defected or corrupted files using Advance System Optimizer.

I'm running AVG now from Safe Mode.

okay I have another problem with my new (secondhand) windows 10 machine running win 10 pro. I wanted to adjust the text sizes in my title bars, menus and icons. I know how to change it on this machine I'm using to ask the question on, but the display icon in the control panel, where you change only the text size. is missing on the problem machine. I'm at a loss as to where to get it back from.

Hey, Can someone tell me how to run the display control panel as another user?

I have tried runas but I cant use desk.cpl because runas only allows applications.

Also - If you add a noprofile arguement will that bypass restrictions on that account? Eg;-

User 1 is not allowed to change his wallpaper. If user2 (who is allowed to change his wallpaper) ran the display control panel as user1 using a /noprofile arguement would the changes be saved as user1 when he logged on again?

Thanks.

The desktop tab in the display folder in control panel has disappeared. I was in a web site and
all of a sudden my desktop (I had a picture of my dog as the background) changed from what I had to a pure bright blue and in the middle of the desktop there is a message box that reads
-Warning spyware detected on your computer - Install and anti virus or spyware remover to clean your computer - I have Trend Micro anti virus and Webroot and Ad-Aware spyware removers already and I have run all of them after this happened which did not get my desktop tab back so that I could change the background. Trend Micro has discovered that I just got hit with 10 TroJ_Pakes.bfz viruses which they have quarantined.

All my icons are still on the desktop.

I am running on XP. How do I get my desktop tab in the display folder back so that I can change the background? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken

Whenever I try to select a different theme or select a jpeg image as my desktop wallpaper, the display control panel crashes with an error: "Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close". I can provide more information about this error if need be. Oh yea, I'm running windows xp home edition.

Answer:problem with display control panel crashing

DLL files are Digital Library Link files. Typically they are used by windows and other programs to tell when the contents, or needed information is located.

From the brief description that you have given, it sounds like whatever you are doing is trying to run the DLL as an .exe file. Or actually trying to RUN the file instead of simply referrencing it. Please provide more information so we can try to help you as best we can.

Hi,I have a HP7700 desktop PC running Windows 7 Enterprise with a video card that has both a VGA _AND_ a DVI output. I connected two monitors to it, one to the VGA and the other to the DVI output. However, when I tried to configure them as an extended desktop, I see next to the Display just the one option, "(Default Monitor) on" with a drop-down window. When I click on the drop-down window, I see the same identical option. Normally, I should see two options, the second one allowing me to choose multiple monitors. So, basically, I am stuck with the same display on both monitors.  Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Only one monitor shows up in Display control panel

Unless the card supports multiple monitors it doesn't matter how many connectors it has...Check your cards manual.

Whenever I right click on a film clip, to select the player I wish to use, I receive the following error message:

The NVIDIA Display Control Panel Extension cannot be created.

Possible reasons include:
version mismatch. Reinstalling display drivers may solve the problem.

The error message disappears after four attempts to close it, and then the normal right-click menu appears.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I now have six users on our home desktop running win xp. Every time I manage to log on to the system, I find that someone has changed a setting or adds a new wallpaper or screensaver. Eventually at this pace the machine will be full of rubbish. Is it possible to remove control panel and display options from certain users, and how can i do it.many thanks

Answer:removing control panel and display options

Windows XP Pro allows you to do this, i'm not sure about XP Home. If you have set up user accounts then go into the accounts and change the settings for each account under their security policy.
