Upgrading from Dolby Advanced Audio v2 to Dolby Home Theatre v4?

Question: Upgrading from Dolby Advanced Audio v2 to Dolby Home Theatre v4?

Hi, i just bought a laptop Lenovo T530 which came with Dolby Advanced Audio v2 with Realtek audio drivers. When i turned it on, the sound was pretty bad as there were no preset equalizer profiles, I however had the options for Games, Movies, Music but those settings were all kept to normal. I'm no audio expert, so i couldnt create new profiles and set the equalizer settings myself because even when i tried, the sound did'nt help much. So i got to know that Dolby Home Theatre v4 has lot of options and even some preset equalizer settings too. Now my question is how to upgrade from Dolby AA v3 to Dolby HT v4. I downloaded the realtelk audio drivers from lenovo support site, uninstalled my realtek audio driver and dolby AAC, deleted the Dolby folder in the registry. I then installed the downloaded Realtek audio driver for my model and again the Dolby AAC was back , I uninstalled Dolby AAC and tried to install the Dolby HT v4.msi which i found in the PCEE folder of the installation. But i get an error when running the installation that Dolby HT cannot be installed. Any idea on how to solve this?

Preferred Solution: Upgrading from Dolby Advanced Audio v2 to Dolby Home Theatre v4?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update. But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7023", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6954" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).Is this an update or what? What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)?  Thanks. (confused now) @@

Answer:Dolby Home Theater V4 changed to Dolby Digital Plus after Realtek Audio Driver update Windows 8.1

I only installed audio driver ver. 6.0.1.6798 which includes Dolby Home Theater V4. Since no issues are encountered I have not updated to the latest version for my unit (ver. 6.0.1.7027). Does this Dolby Digital Plus mentioned by you better than V4 in some aspect aside from the ones that you already stated?

Hi Lars,
Just a suggestion in order to save time:  If you can share what you have already tried, that will help the other members so they do not repeat the same instructions. Here is the list of models that have been tested so far for the Windows 10 upgrade:  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535

I just noticed on my w540 that the Dolby Home Theatre v4 doesnt do anything?  Changing the settings does nothing to the sound when playing music.  Should it not do something? Removed and reinstalled the drivers, and nothing.   Using Windows 8.1 I can see within the sound settings that dolby digital plus seems to be installed, and I can toggle it on and off, leading to a change in sound quality.   However, home theatre does nothing.  Any thoughts anyone?

I have a W530, and Win7 Pro x64, and the Dolby Home Theater software is provided through Lenovo's Realtek sound driver package. It is not included in Realtek's standard retail driver package so you can't use a Realtek-provided driver to do a "driver install/upgrade". You need to stick with whatever Lenovo provides.

Anyway, I find it most easy to hear a difference in the Dolby Home Theater EQ presets (after pushing the "settings" gear to get the full UI to appear) when using headphones, not using the speakers on the PC.  Checking the different EQ presets changes which "EQ frequency envelope picture " is highlighted, and DOES alter the sound.

Answer:Dolby Home Theatre V4

hi Jaycee70,

The Dolby Home Theater technology on these models are attatched to the Sound Device(Realtek or Conexant).
Your USB Speakers might not be a normal speakers but an External Sound Device.
Verify this by opening Sound properties window.
Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Sound
It should  look like this, under Playback Tab

If your USB speaker is a  being  detected as another sound device, It will appear here,
that way the Dolby will not be able to communicate and thats why it is turning off.

Answer:Dolby Home Theatre V4 help

Hi narchambault,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First, Make sure you don't have any third party Dolby Installer by doing this
    Windows 7

Open My Computer / C: Drive and on the upper right corner of the window use the search box and type Dolby
Any Dolby file that shows up Delete them

WIndows 8
Hit Windows key + W to open a search type Dolby then delete any Dolby file hat shows up.

Once Cleared proceed to the next step.

Download and install This Driver depending on your Windows Version
    Windows 7  Conexant Audio Driver
    Windows 8  Conexant Audio Driver

Now to install Dolby

For Windows 7
Open My Computer / C: Drive and in the upper right portion of the windows you will find a search box, type Dolby
You should find the Installer, like this,
Spoiler (Highlight to read)

Install that and you should be good to go,
Disregard the Advanced Audio If you system preloaded is Home theatre, then Home theater is what will show up.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Question: Dolby home theatre

Since upgrading to Win 8.1 (from 7) I cannot get Dolby Home Theatre to load
The sound card is part of the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Revision 2 motherboard -
Realtek ALC889 codec
 High Definition Audio
 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
 Support for Dolby? Home Theater

I have tried loading the Realtek High Definition Audio driver 3.77 R2.72 which seems to install OK but when I then try installing the Dolby home theatre 4 GUI package it fails with a message saying PCEE needs to be installed.

Help appreciated, thanks

Answer:Dolby home theatre

Did it come with the computer? On my laptop I have found that I have to use the Realtek drivers supplied by the manufacturer or else DHT breaks. I think they put some additional code in to interface with the Dolby.

I am interested in possibly upgrading from Dolby Advanced Audio v2 to v4. I have read several of the threads on this topic and have not found a simple/foolproof way toaccomplish this. I notice that both the W530 and the T530 have the exact same audio drivers installed. 1.     Can this be accomplished?2.     Does Lenovo have the driver downloads to get this done?3.     Is it worth the effort to upgrade?4.     Dolby's site does not allow individuals to download software.5.     v2 is working well and the audio sounds good. Feedback would be appreciated.

Answer:Dolby home Theatre V4 not working

hi shahryar

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

This normally happened after upgrading the system to WIndows 8.1 that updated the driver but left the dolby Software on original Version.

I suggest you Open Device manager and Uninstall the Audio Driver. (make sure to place a check on delete driver software prompt to rid of the driver completely from your system).

Then Open Control Panel / Uninstall a program and Uninstall all Dolby Component
then delete the Driver Backup under C: / Driver folder.

Now Download the WIndows 8.1 Audio Driver and Install it
for your Systsem, Here it is  Realtek Audio Driver for 64-bit Windows

After Extraction and Installtion completely,
this will Creata a new back up under C: Driver folder.
Open that and find the DolbyGUI folder Open that and you'll find the Dolby Install that matches your Audio Driver

 Hope this helps
Cheers!

My Dolby Home Theatre doesn't stay active in the Notification Area (Bottom right - next to clock) when starting/restarting my Aspire VN7-791G. So I am unable to toggle settings. If I go into "Programs and Features" and "Repair" the installation the Dolby icon reappears in the Notification Area and works as expected. I've tried: installing Windows 8.1 Realtek driver no change.Installing the very latest driver direct from Realtek, no change.I've also tried installing the Toshiba version of Dolby, which doesn't function (as suggested by user Scrambler).I've also tried reinstalling with Cortana deactived via the registry, still no change. When I use the driver package from Acer it installs the driver but none of the Dolby software. But I can navigate into the driver folder "Audio_Realtek_6.0.1.7553_W10x64\DS1\x64" and install "DolbyDigitalPlusHT". I've read the forum http://community.acer.com/t5/Windows-10/Dolby-Home-Theater-Dolby-Digital-Plus-not-working/td-p/37280... Is there anything I am missing? Hello,

Is there any way that I can use the good old Dolby Home Theatre on Win 8.1 Pro 64bit? Even when I try and install the old driver from the CD I get Dolby Digital installed, which is extremely ugly, buggy and totally lacks functionality. Not to mention that it doesn't work with Firefox (doesn't detect sound at all). When using it with a music player like Winamp or AIMP3, it's impossible to set custom EQ. When moving the sliders they just get back to their previous position.

While installing Dolby HT GUI, its say'n that PCEE needs to be installed.

What is PCEE,How can i get it?? After installing, any problem persists with my previous audio driver?

Answer:Unable to Install Dolby Home Theatre

According to the Lenovo site, this PC came with Windows 8. The Dolby may be designed for Win 8 and does not work on Win 7. Also, do you have the correct sound driver from Lenovo? If you only have the generic, basic function, Windows installed HD Audio Codec that could also be the problem.

Hello all.Following a fresh install of Windows 8.1 on my Ideapad Z585 I've lost the Dolby Home Theatre program on the laptop. I've glanced through the various recovery partitions and there doesn't seem to be an installer. After checking the driver section of Lenovo for the Z585 there doesn't seem to be a Dolby Home Theatre download. I've tried to botch together a solution of installing the Dolby Home Theatre software from another lenovo laptop driver, which did install the program. But on the other hand it doesn't make any audiable difference to have it on or off. Additionally when it is on, the graphic equaliser doesn't animate just as if it's not handling the audio. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks-Tengu

Hello, I cannot get Dolby Digital Home Theatre working on my Yoga 1470. I have tried the following: 1. Reinstalling Conexant HD Audio Drivers2. Uninstalling ALL Audio drivers (Intel HD Audio and Conexant), then reinstalling them all3. Installing every update available on support.lenovo.com for my Yoga model4. Installing all Windows updates (I am at version 10586.3)5. Installing the Windows 8.1 drivers.6. Installing Realtek HD Audio drivers v2.79 My set up is 100% compatible with Dolby Digital. Output over HDMI to the TV then to the receiver works with my PS3. The Yoga even detects it as shown in the following image:http://i.imgur.com/U1ZIVOv.png Dolby Digital Plus is in the audio driver package that Lenovo provides:http://i.imgur.com/iiSvHKZ.png Trying to run any of these installers results in the following errors:PCEE needs to be installedDolby Digital Plus needs to be installedor just no error output at all Checking Dolby's website just forwards me to Lenovo's support site. There is no Dolby application in Control Panel. Lenovo says Dolby is supported.https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/documents/ht104006 I don't know what else to try.

I manage to solve the problem but here's the full story; The problem occured after turning on my laptop yesterday morning. I checked out my Dolby Profile and saw that the equalizer wasn't moving at all and that it wasn't detecting any sound at all from any sound producing media I could test (from Youtube to Winamp).  I went to support.lenovo.com and found the latest driver for my Realtek Audio and downloaded it. I unininstalled Dolby and resetarted. I booted up and uninstalled Realtek. Booted up again and installed the latest Realtek audio driver, then restarted. I found the Dolby file within an installation file and installed Dolby Home Theatre.msi from a folder called "PCEE". I restarted again. The same problem persisted.  Due to my frustration, I unisntalled OneKey Theatre. That was a mistake haha. I fiddled around the forums a bit and found no solutions whatsoever. Then I decided to dig into the problem myself and I soon found out that there were two Dolby softwares installed in my device. I believe it was called "Dolby Advanced Audio". When I clicked it open, its equalizer was actually working! But it wasn't Dolby Home Theatre v4 so I had to find out what's the real problem.  So I deleted Dolby Advanced Audio and restarted. I booted up and the same problem persisted. I decided to just do a system restore because I probably messed up a lot of things in my laptop from all my fiddling around and stuff. I rolled back the... Greetings!  I was just wondering if anyone else had the problem after upgrading to Windows 10, Dolby Audio Advanced v2 is no longer working.  I upgraded my sound drivers but I can't find the Dolby drivers for Windows 10.  Please help.  I can move the sliders but there's no changes in the sound.  Thanks.

Answer:Dolby Advanced Audio

 Hi vinnymac20000,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Lets try unistalling and reinstalling the audio drivers,

1. Press the Windows key? +R, type appwiz.cpl.msc and press Enter. On the list of installed programs, remove anything that relates toRealtek Audio Driver or Conexant  and Dolby (reboot if necessary).

2. Delete the C:\Drivers folder Install this audio driver back
When downloading the driver go to support.lenovo.com and identify your device, download the Audio driver and install it.

3. Open Device Manager > Sound, video, and game controllers and check if the High Definition Audio becomes Realtek High Definition Audio or Conexant High Definition Audio (this indicates that the sound driver is installed properly).

When the audio driver is properly installed, install the DolbyAdvancedAudio and the DolbyHomeTheater from the following path:

For Realtek:
C:\Drivers\Audio\Realtek\6.0.1.6957\PCEE4

For Conexant:
C:\Drivers\Audio\Conexant\8.64.49.0\DolbyGUI

Let me know if this works for you!
Cheers!

Hi Guys,

I recently upgraded a W520 to Windows 10 with the Dolby HT installed. Of course it no longer works and the audio is horrible again, especially from the internal microphones.

Has anyone come up with a way to install the Dolby Digital Plus on the Conexant based systems? I really need the improved audio for my softphone ASAP.

Thanks.

I don't want this box popping up at every boot, what do I do?

Answer:Dolby Advanced Audio Problem after 8.1

I don't have Dolby specific setup, but you might want to check your device manager directly to see if a driver for Dolby appears under the expanded menu as shown below. If so, you can select "update driver" and have it automatically search Window Update or use the latest driver (if you have it handy). I would personally prefer the latter option if available. Good luck.

Hello , I have a Lenovo G500 , OS is windows 7 ultimate , 64 bit.I used Dolby Advanced Audio V2 before and it worked just fine but now , the equilizator is just staying flat , like reciving no audio , after reading some forum posts about windows 8.1 with the program , I found out that there is a specific version that works fine , but some versions of it won't work , like specific things like speakers will work just fine with the things that the program does to your audio but when you use the headset , it won't change a thing or the equilizator won't do anything , nor the volume leveler.Any ideas how I may fix this on Windows 7 , because on 8.1 you just need to use a specific version and you are good.

hi there.
I have Lenovo ideapad S510p and currently running on Windows 10 Pro (64Bit). I upgraded it from Windows 7 Ultimate.
I recently upgraded my Audio driver using device manager on Windows 10 pro. When i first upgraded the audio driver (Around a week ago) Dolby Advanced Audio v2  had gone and instead of it i had Dolby Advanced plus in the RealTek and now again when windows installed update today Dolby Advanced plus is also gone. I didn't update Audio driver today.
I just want to know if Lenovo has removed Dolby Advanced Audio v2 or Dolby Advanced Plus after the recent Windows updated. I never got any error for the audio. I checked in Task Manager,  Device Manager, Program Files, Program Data, App data, etc and i didn't find even a folder of Dolby Advanced Audio v2.P.S. When i upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro, I didn't have any problem.

Please let me know what has happened to Dolby Advanced Audio v2 and how can i get it back if i want to?

I hope i will get a reply soon.
Thanks in Advance.

Regards.

Answer:S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Hi Sentient ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Everytime Windows update perform its automatic update it would replace current drivers you have and replace it as it sees as more updated version from its own database changing the OEM drivers version to a Microsoft native drivers.

You may try to initially perform system restore before the date windows update occur since it would create a restore date . If you manage to restore older driver version with the Dolby audio then stop automatic updates for the drivers to prevent this from auto changing it .

Else moving forward you can also install the audio drivers intended for your model compatible for windows 10 and see if that would be able to restore the dolby enhancements .
If that fails to restore , you can try versions from Windows 7 and right click to run on compatibility mode.

Update us as it goes .

Hello,  My Dolby Advanced Audio program has worked for the past year or so.  But after installing Razer Surround, the Dolby program stopped working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the newest version of Conexant HD audio, and that worked. However, I noticed that Dolby Advanced Audio V2 was replaced with Dolby Digital Plus. I am not noticing any significant difference in audio quality, but the GUI is completely different and I think there are some features missing.  Would this be considered an upgrade or a downgrade going from advanced audio to digital plus? What are the differences besides the user interface? Thanks in advance!  Note:For people who, like me, have installed third-party sound drivers (like Razer Surround, etc) and experienced issues where Dolby Advanced Audio stopped working, simply go into control panel-->programs and features--> and uninstall Conexant Audio HD. After that, go to your computer's Lenovo drivers page and download the most recent one. Dolby should work again.  For me, there was a check box in the Razer Surround settings that says "enable virtual audio device". When checked, this will enable Razer Surround. Unchecked, it will turn Razer off and turn Dolby back on. When I first had Dolby Advanced Audio v2, this would not happen. When I turned Razer Surround on and then off, Dolby Advanced Audio would just sit there unresponsive. There were no sound/equilizer bars present, and p... Read more

Thats the way it worked now. thx

Answer:Dolby Advanced audio v2 not work in G510

hi w22m12,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

-First is to remove the Audio driver from device manager placing a check under delete driver software prompt.
-Then Remove Dolby by uninstalling all dolby related components under Programs and Feature.
-Now go to Drive C:  then drivers folder then delete the Audio driver either conexant or realtek.
- download the driver here

Now the Driver folder in drive C: will be back after the installation
Open the Audio driver (Conexant or realtek) and find the dolbygui folder install the Advanced audio installer or Dolby AA then you should be good to go.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

In the last two weeks or so, I believe the Dolby Advanced Audio has been cutting in and out. I'll be playing a song at a nice volume and all of a sudden, it becomes half as quiet and the full, rich, bass tones drop out completely. It's really annoying. Is this a problem with the drivers? Or could it be a hardware issue?

Also, I'm running Windows 7...didn't upgrade to the silly windows 8, which caused a similar audio problem for a diffrent user. I have a 2.6ghz intel core i5 processor and 4 gb of ram. It shouldn't be an issue with the cpu lagging, correct?

IdeaPAD 310-15, came with Windows 10How do I install Dolby Advanced Audio on this machine?Supposedly has Dolby audio - but the interface doesn't look like the interface for Dolby Advanced Audio and the equalizer doesn't do anything. Also, in the list under Windows Control Panel items, it lists "Dolby Audio" and not "Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio".Have installed the latest audio driver from Lenovo. Also tried deleting everything related to Conexant and Dolby and reinstalling the driver from Lenovo, as suggested for a different model on this forum. Nothing changed. Also tried downloading the Windows 7 driver - it would not install - says "PCEE needs to be installed".Is there any point in pursuing this or should I just give up?

Hello,I have upgrade my Lenovo G500s to Windows 10. Everything is working fine so far, except for the Dolby Advanced Audio.Everytime the laptop starts up, an error message pops up:Unable to start the Dolby audio driver. Please restart the computer or reïnstall the driver if the problem persistsI know there aren't any Windows 10 drivers available for a G500s, but does that mean it won't ever be able to use Dolby anymore? There has to be a way to fix this, right?Edit: There are people out there also with a G500s who don't have this problem, so it sure isn't "impossible" to fix because there's no Win10 version for the G500s

Answer:G500s: Dolby Advanced Audio v2 not working

Is there any fix for this.  I am so frustrated.

Hi there, the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 issue keeps grinding my gears. The situation: I added a second drive (SSD) successfully to the E540, everything works and is set up properly. I still have the original HDD in place and got Windows 8.1 (x64) installed on both drives. However, I cannot run Dolby Advanced Audio v2 when booting from the (fresh) Windows installation on the SSD. Right after booting or trying to start the application there is a Windows error message telling me that the Dolby-driver cannot be run and I should reinstall the application if the error continues to exist. When booting from the original HDD there is no problem with Dolby Advanced Audio v2, the application just works fine. Whenever booting from SSD the error message comes up. I know that this is a known issue and I've read all the information that is out there on the internet. I tried deinstalling and reinstalling from the DRIVERS folder on C: multiple times, installed everything in different orders and tried almost every combination of using the SETUP in AUDIO, the SETUP in DOLBY, the UIUa64 and so on. I can't install Dolby Advanced Audio v2 on the new SSD properly. The installation finishes and Dolby Advanced Audio v2 is shown in the list of installed programs, but immediately after finishing the installation the error message also occurs. (I exactly followed the reported solutions for other systems, but none of them worked for me. Please tell me in which order I have to run t... Read more

Hello. I've been looking for a solution for several days with no success so I decided to create my own thread. I've recently bought the G50-80 laptop. I performed a fresh install of win 7 Ultimate x64 on it and I downloaded and installed the most recent drivers from lenovo website. The problem is that Dolby surround sound is not working. The profile selector shows up properly and the equalizer works properly as well but surround virtualizer does nothing, ticking and unticking it does nothing as well as changing the level. My sound quality is at 24bit 44100 khz and I also own Creative Aurvana Live headphones which work just fine on my PC and surround works perfectly. My Conexant drivers are also up to date so the only thing that comes to my mind is that the new Conexant drivers are somewhat broken. Please help, I bought this laptop specifically because it was supposed to have surround sound and it's not working ;-;

Hello,After I downloaded manually realtek audio driver version 6.0.1.6647 and upgraded it on my X230 I get following error: actual version 7.2.8000.13 of dolby-audiodriver is installed, but the software need driver-version 7.2.7000.7. Please install a correct combination of software and driver. I found in the net that other users got a similar error on Thinkpad E530 and a conexant driver. There it helped to de-install the driver, no reboot and run the thinkvantage upgrade tool, which repaired the problem automaticly. I tried it in the same way, but after I de-installed the driver, the upgrade-tool didn't found any upgrade. And I have no conexant driver. What can I do to fix this error? Thanks for HelpMartin

Have and issue with this on my Lenovo G500 laptop. After upgrading to Windows 10 the Dolby Advanced Audio never worked as it was not compatible. However after a return to factory settings (Win8) and reinstall of Win 10 over the top, it made a better job of it. The Dolby Advanced Audio remained but I also got Dolby Digital Plus, which does work perfectly well. Problem is the original Win8 program is still there and is still in StartUp. So I get an error message every time I start the thing. The working replacement version is not in StartUp, so I have to start it manually. Problem is despite searching everywhere I can think of i cannot find where the shortcuts, commands or whatever to run these at StartUp are located. I just need to switch them over. A bit loath to uninstall the old one in case it takes something down from the one that does work.
Grateful for any help (They are not in the StartUp folder).
Funnily my Lenovo desktop uninstalled the old version and replace it with the new one when it was upgraded to Win10, and I can't find where the startup files are on this one either.

Today Lenovo Update and Drivers software did few updates. And after that Dolby Advanced Audio does not work any more and because of that, i think, i can not launch any music that is in computer and video that are in my computer play with no sound. The error:"The current Dolby audio driver is 7.2.8000.13 and the software application expects driver version 7.2.7000.11. Please install a valid driver and software application combination." So the problem is that i can not find drivers version 7.2.7000.11 to download or the software that can launch with 7.2.8000.13 version. And BTW, backup is not done yet for my laptop.Waiting for your help.
