Upgrade Dolby Advanced Audio v2 to Dolby Advanced Audio v4

Question: Upgrade Dolby Advanced Audio v2 to Dolby Advanced Audio v4

I am interested in possibly upgrading from Dolby Advanced Audio v2 to v4. I have read several of the threads on this topic and have not found a simple/foolproof way toaccomplish this. I notice that both the W530 and the T530 have the exact same audio drivers installed. 1. Can this be accomplished?2. Does Lenovo have the driver downloads to get this done?3. Is it worth the effort to upgrade?4. Dolby's site does not allow individuals to download software.5. v2 is working well and the audio sounds good. Feedback would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,    i just bought a laptop Lenovo T530 which came with Dolby Advanced Audio v2 with Realtek audio drivers. When i turned it on, the sound was pretty bad as there were no preset equalizer profiles, I however had the options for Games, Movies, Music but those settings were all kept to normal. I'm no audio expert, so i couldnt create new profiles and set the equalizer settings myself because even when i tried, the sound did'nt help much. So i got to know that Dolby Home Theatre v4 has lot of options and even some preset equalizer settings too. Now my question is how to upgrade from Dolby AA v3 to Dolby HT v4. I downloaded the realtelk audio drivers from lenovo support site, uninstalled my realtek audio driver and dolby AAC, deleted the Dolby folder in the registry. I then installed the downloaded Realtek audio driver for my model and again the Dolby AAC was back , I uninstalled Dolby AAC and tried to install the Dolby HT v4.msi which i found in the PCEE folder of the installation. But i get an error when running the installation that Dolby HT cannot be installed. Any idea on how to solve this?

Hello LenovoI have an Lenovo G780 laptop. I upgraded to Windows 8.1 64-Bit yesterday. Now I can´t use YouCam for recording. I get the error message "HW Encode Error". Do you know how to solve this problem? Also after Windows 8.1 upgrade I got the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 error. Then I uninstalled sound drivers from sound input and output from device management. I uninstalled all Dolby related programs and after that installed the preinstalled sound driver again. Now I had the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 app installed again but now I can´t open the app but why?

Hi,

I proceeded to the upgrade with W10 last week. Everything went perfect except for Dolby Advanced Audio, which doesn't work anymore.
Each time I'm starting the computer, the message "Dolby Avanced Audio cannot start. Please restart computer or reinstall"

It's really annoying and I already got the problem when upgrading from W8 to W8.1

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Lenovo G780 - Upgrade to Windows 10 - Dolby Advanced Audio v2 doesn't work

Hi iyyappan_3,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
First make sure that the Audio driver and the dolby will be in sync.
Open Device Manager
Uninstall the Audio Device Under Sound and gaming controllers / Make sure to place a check in the Delete driver software prompt.

Now make sure you don't have any dolby components
Proceed to Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall a Program
                     Uninstall all Dolby Related programs
                             Restart if Prompted
Now install this software driver

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/au200w81.exe
When you install this software it will show you a directory path whre it will extract, Make sure to Remember the path

This next xtep is important

Open the directory path where the Audio driver installer extracted the Audio driver.

Check all the folders inside it and find the Dolby Installers, Install the Dolby either Advanced audio or Digital plus.

and you should now get your dolby back

Hope this helps
Cheers!

There are no enhancement features in the speakers properties section. I have realtek card reader...do I need realtek driver? I read that not all motherboards use realtek audio chips.

What would be a suitable/compatible FRE audio driver to download to enable louder sound.

Hello, I just updated the Realtek Audio Driver this morning when I saw the update available in the Update center.  The driver went from v 6.0.1.6914 to v 6.0.1.7040.  Now, the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 won't work.  It forgot my previous EQ settings and when I make a new one, it doesn't change a thing in the sound.  Is there a way to roll back to the previous version?  Anyone knows a fix for this? This is really bad as I'm listening to lots of music on this laptop while I'm working and without the Dolby EQ, the sounds is not very good... I'm under Windows 8.1 64-bit. Thanks.

Answer:X230T Dolby Advanced Audio v2 not working anymore since Realtek Audio Driver update

OK, so I succeeded to revert back to the previous version of the Realtek audio driver and the Dolby thing came back just fine after a reboot. So, if you're with Windows 8.1 and enjoy the Dolby feature, don't update your Realtek audio driver!

Answer:Dolby Advanced Audio

 Hi vinnymac20000,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Lets try unistalling and reinstalling the audio drivers,

1. Press the Windows key? +R, type appwiz.cpl.msc and press Enter. On the list of installed programs, remove anything that relates toRealtek Audio Driver or Conexant  and Dolby (reboot if necessary).

2. Delete the C:\Drivers folder Install this audio driver back
When downloading the driver go to support.lenovo.com and identify your device, download the Audio driver and install it.

3. Open Device Manager > Sound, video, and game controllers and check if the High Definition Audio becomes Realtek High Definition Audio or Conexant High Definition Audio (this indicates that the sound driver is installed properly).

When the audio driver is properly installed, install the DolbyAdvancedAudio and the DolbyHomeTheater from the following path:

For Realtek:
C:\Drivers\Audio\Realtek\6.0.1.6957\PCEE4

For Conexant:
C:\Drivers\Audio\Conexant\8.64.49.0\DolbyGUI

Let me know if this works for you!
Cheers!

Hello , I have a Lenovo G500 , OS is windows 7 ultimate , 64 bit.I used Dolby Advanced Audio V2 before and it worked just fine but now , the equilizator is just staying flat , like reciving no audio , after reading some forum posts about windows 8.1 with the program , I found out that there is a specific version that works fine , but some versions of it won't work , like specific things like speakers will work just fine with the things that the program does to your audio but when you use the headset , it won't change a thing or the equilizator won't do anything , nor the volume leveler.Any ideas how I may fix this on Windows 7 , because on 8.1 you just need to use a specific version and you are good.

hi there.
I have Lenovo ideapad S510p and currently running on Windows 10 Pro (64Bit). I upgraded it from Windows 7 Ultimate.
I recently upgraded my Audio driver using device manager on Windows 10 pro. When i first upgraded the audio driver (Around a week ago) Dolby Advanced Audio v2  had gone and instead of it i had Dolby Advanced plus in the RealTek and now again when windows installed update today Dolby Advanced plus is also gone. I didn't update Audio driver today.
I just want to know if Lenovo has removed Dolby Advanced Audio v2 or Dolby Advanced Plus after the recent Windows updated. I never got any error for the audio. I checked in Task Manager,  Device Manager, Program Files, Program Data, App data, etc and i didn't find even a folder of Dolby Advanced Audio v2.P.S. When i upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro, I didn't have any problem.

Please let me know what has happened to Dolby Advanced Audio v2 and how can i get it back if i want to?

I hope i will get a reply soon.
Thanks in Advance.

Answer:S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Hi Sentient ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Everytime Windows update perform its automatic update it would replace current drivers you have and replace it as it sees as more updated version from its own database changing the OEM drivers version to a Microsoft native drivers.

You may try to initially perform system restore before the date windows update occur since it would create a restore date . If you manage to restore older driver version with the Dolby audio then stop automatic updates for the drivers to prevent this from auto changing it .

Else moving forward you can also install the audio drivers intended for your model compatible for windows 10 and see if that would be able to restore the dolby enhancements .
If that fails to restore , you can try versions from Windows 7 and right click to run on compatibility mode.

Update us as it goes .

Regards

Answer:Dolby Advanced Audio Problem after 8.1

I don't have Dolby specific setup, but you might want to check your device manager directly to see if a driver for Dolby appears under the expanded menu as shown below. If so, you can select "update driver" and have it automatically search Window Update or use the latest driver (if you have it handy). I would personally prefer the latter option if available. Good luck.

Hi there, the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 issue keeps grinding my gears. The situation: I added a second drive (SSD) successfully to the E540, everything works and is set up properly. I still have the original HDD in place and got Windows 8.1 (x64) installed on both drives. However, I cannot run Dolby Advanced Audio v2 when booting from the (fresh) Windows installation on the SSD. Right after booting or trying to start the application there is a Windows error message telling me that the Dolby-driver cannot be run and I should reinstall the application if the error continues to exist. When booting from the original HDD there is no problem with Dolby Advanced Audio v2, the application just works fine. Whenever booting from SSD the error message comes up. I know that this is a known issue and I've read all the information that is out there on the internet. I tried deinstalling and reinstalling from the DRIVERS folder on C: multiple times, installed everything in different orders and tried almost every combination of using the SETUP in AUDIO, the SETUP in DOLBY, the UIUa64 and so on. I can't install Dolby Advanced Audio v2 on the new SSD properly. The installation finishes and Dolby Advanced Audio v2 is shown in the list of installed programs, but immediately after finishing the installation the error message also occurs. (I exactly followed the reported solutions for other systems, but none of them worked for me. Hello,  My Dolby Advanced Audio program has worked for the past year or so.  But after installing Razer Surround, the Dolby program stopped working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the newest version of Conexant HD audio, and that worked. However, I noticed that Dolby Advanced Audio V2 was replaced with Dolby Digital Plus. I am not noticing any significant difference in audio quality, but the GUI is completely different and I think there are some features missing.  Would this be considered an upgrade or a downgrade going from advanced audio to digital plus? What are the differences besides the user interface? Thanks in advance!  Note:For people who, like me, have installed third-party sound drivers (like Razer Surround, etc) and experienced issues where Dolby Advanced Audio stopped working, simply go into control panel-->programs and features--> and uninstall Conexant Audio HD. After that, go to your computer's Lenovo drivers page and download the most recent one. Dolby should work again.  For me, there was a check box in the Razer Surround settings that says "enable virtual audio device". When checked, this will enable Razer Surround. Unchecked, it will turn Razer off and turn Dolby back on. When I first had Dolby Advanced Audio v2, this would not happen. When I turned Razer Surround on and then off, Dolby Advanced Audio would just sit there unresponsive. There were no sound/equilizer bars present, and p... Read more

Please restart the computer or reïnstall the driver if the problem persistsI know there aren't any Windows 10 drivers available for a G500s, but does that mean it won't ever be able to use Dolby anymore? There has to be a way to fix this, right?Edit: There are people out there also with a G500s who don't have this problem, so it sure isn't "impossible" to fix because there's no Win10 version for the G500s

Answer:G500s: Dolby Advanced Audio v2 not working

Is there any fix for this.  I am so frustrated.

Have and issue with this on my Lenovo G500 laptop. After upgrading to Windows 10 the Dolby Advanced Audio never worked as it was not compatible. However after a return to factory settings (Win8) and reinstall of Win 10 over the top, it made a better job of it. The Dolby Advanced Audio remained but I also got Dolby Digital Plus, which does work perfectly well. Problem is the original Win8 program is still there and is still in StartUp. So I get an error message every time I start the thing. The working replacement version is not in StartUp, so I have to start it manually. Problem is despite searching everywhere I can think of i cannot find where the shortcuts, commands or whatever to run these at StartUp are located. I just need to switch them over. A bit loath to uninstall the old one in case it takes something down from the one that does work.
Grateful for any help (They are not in the StartUp folder).
Funnily my Lenovo desktop uninstalled the old version and replace it with the new one when it was upgraded to Win10, and I can't find where the startup files are on this one either.

IdeaPAD 310-15, came with Windows 10How do I install Dolby Advanced Audio on this machine?Supposedly has Dolby audio - but the interface doesn't look like the interface for Dolby Advanced Audio and the equalizer doesn't do anything. Also, in the list under Windows Control Panel items, it lists "Dolby Audio" and not "Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio".Have installed the latest audio driver from Lenovo. Also tried deleting everything related to Conexant and Dolby and reinstalling the driver from Lenovo, as suggested for a different model on this forum. Nothing changed. Also tried downloading the Windows 7 driver - it would not install - says "PCEE needs to be installed".Is there any point in pursuing this or should I just give up?

Answer:Dolby Advanced Audio V2 Problem - Windows 7

hi zwrtronpxict,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try Reinstalling Audio / Dolby Components in this order

Open Device manager and Uninstall the Audio Driver. (make sure to place a check on delete driver software prompt to rid of the driver completely from your system).

Then Open Control Panel / Uninstall a program and Uninstall all Dolby Component
then delete the Driver Backup under C: / Driver  / conexant folder.

Now Download the WIndows  Audio Driver and Install it
for your System, Here it is  Conexant Audio Driver
After Extraction and Installtion completes.
this will Creata a new back up under C: Driver folder.
Open that and find the DolbyGUI folder Open that and you'll find the Dolby Install that matches your Audio Driver

Hope this helps
Cheers!

I'm so confused.  I did the ThinkVantage Driver Update for my T530 and said OK to a recommended audio driver update.  After that  I would always get this message on startup:

"Current Dolby audio driver 7.2.8000.14, software expects 7.2.7000.7.  Please install a valid software application combination"

After reading various forum posts, I uninstalled Dolby Advanced Audio (which no longer shows on Control Panel->Programs/Features).  When I try to reinstall Dolby (from C:->SWTOOLS->DRIVERS->AUDIO->PCEE->DolbyAdvancedAudio, then right-click->"install") I get this message:

"There is another PCEE product installed already.  Please uninstall it before installing this product. Setup will now exit."

I tried to roll back the Realtek driver (and maybe I did.)  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Realtek High Def Audio driver (6.0.1.6710, which appears to be the most current) but I cannot get Dolby Advanced Audio to reinstall.  The volume is much reduced from before, and the audio quality seems worse.

Can anyone tell me what I've done and how to fix it?

Answer:T530: cannot install Dolby Advanced Audio v2

Can anyone help me?  (See above) Multiple attempts to install Dolby Advanced Audio v2 (or DHTv4, per the other thread) have failed, even after uninstalling the Realtek drivers.  Is there some PCEE product that I'm missing? (Not comfortable messing with the registry, but also tried that and couldn't find anything Dolby or Realtek there.  Maybe there's some audio driver from Microsoft or Intel that also needs to be removed?) I'd surely love to get back the audio volume and quality that came with this ThinkPad.

Hello. I've been looking for a solution for several days with no success so I decided to create my own thread. I've recently bought the G50-80 laptop. I performed a fresh install of win 7 Ultimate x64 on it and I downloaded and installed the most recent drivers from lenovo website. The problem is that Dolby surround sound is not working. The profile selector shows up properly and the equalizer works properly as well but surround virtualizer does nothing, ticking and unticking it does nothing as well as changing the level. My sound quality is at 24bit 44100 khz and I also own Creative Aurvana Live headphones which work just fine on my PC and surround works perfectly. My Conexant drivers are also up to date so the only thing that comes to my mind is that the new Conexant drivers are somewhat broken. Please help, I bought this laptop specifically because it was supposed to have surround sound and it's not working ;-;

In the last two weeks or so, I believe the Dolby Advanced Audio has been cutting in and out. I'll be playing a song at a nice volume and all of a sudden, it becomes half as quiet and the full, rich, bass tones drop out completely. It's really annoying. Is this a problem with the drivers? Or could it be a hardware issue?

Answer:Dolby advanced audio disappeared from my acer v5 notebook

If you have an available System Restore point that is BEFORE whatever you did, that should get it back (the "problem" will also be back after the system restore).

If you don't have a system restore point (and you should), check the PC vendor's downloads, in this case Acer, and get what you need.

Problem:  In Windows 7 x64, sound quality is tinny and sounds very badly DSPed when Dolby Advanced Audio is activated.  Even setting all effects off and EQ off the sound is bad simply because Dolby is/was turned on.  Going to Sound > Playback > Speakers > Properties > Enhancements, checking Disable All Enhancements and clicking Apply clears up the sound, but then the EQ won't have any effect. Solution:  If you have Win 7 x64, uninstall the Win 7 driver (h0a114ww.exe) and instead install the Windows 8 driver (h0ac10ww.exe).  Note that this is NOT the Win 8.1 driver - that won't install under Win 7.  The sound quality will be way better when you use Dobly EQ and effects.  So far I haven't had any stability problems. I thought my E430 had the worst sound card ever until I upgraded to Windows 8 and installed the new driver.  I have Windows 7 dual booted and found the sound quality in Win 7 terrible so I played around with it and found the above solution.

I obtained the driver mismatch error described elsewhere on this board after updating to recent realtek drivers. I tried uninstalling doby advanced audio but the uninstall hit a snag and I was left with an installation of dolby that wouldn't run and the uninstaller would crash when uninstalling. I then deleted all keys referring to dolby advanced audio V2 in the registry. I then obtained the g3ad02ww.exe file from the Lenovo website, forget how I got that. When I run it it tells me that PCEE (which means something like "PC entertainment experience" ) needs to be installed first and then it aborts installation of dolby advanced audio V2...Any ideas on how to proceed to get Dolby back on my machine? Thanks in advanced.

Lenovo did not test or release the compatible windows 10 drivers for the C440 yet,
My advice to you is to try, uninstalling the audio driver from the device manager, Restart the laptop, after that right click the Audio driver from the device manager and click Update Driver Software.

I think that you are facing compatibility issue.

Regards,
Joseph

After upgrading to Windows 10 I was getting an error on loading Windows media player which indicated that: The current Dolby audio driver version is 7.2.8000.17 and the softwareapplication expects driver version 7.2.7000.7. Please install a valid driver and application combination  Although Windows 10 has probably updated your driver to the latest version of the driver (you can check this in device manager for yourself) but the Dolby Advanced Audio V2 application which was supplied by Acer (not Dolby) has not been updated to the corresponding latest version. So, you need an updated version of Dolby Advanced Audio V2 (Version 7.2.8000.17) Acer have not published an updated version. Looked all over the site coudn't find it.  My solution was to remove the error was to uninstall the Acer version and replace with the correct version downloaded from the Lenovo site below. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds028945  I'd wanted to make sure it was the same software, so I tried without uninstalling first and it refused as a version was already installed. So that was reassuring. Thanks for the archived post below pointing me to the softwre on the Lenoveo site at the Lenovo site. I'd looked all over the Acer site for it. http://community.acer.com/t5/2013-Archives/how-i-solved-the-dolby-realtek-audio-problem/td-p/103157  There are warnings on the page above not to use the Leno... I have recently upgraded to windows 8.1 on my Acer Aspire and unfortunately since then, Dolby Advanced Audio V2 refuses to work. I have uninstalled my audio drivers, and re-installed with the latest versions, I have uninstalled DAAV2 and re-installed, and it still does not work. I'm not really sure where to go from here. It launches properly and you can turn it on and off, but ultimately, it does not show any difference between having it on anymore or off. As well as the fact that the little panel you open where it shows the bars while you play music, doesn't move at all. Sorry if this is vague but I've been dealing with this problem for a few days and I use my Acer Aspire mainly for music and youtube videos and the like, so this is rather important to me.

It will restore the Dolby Advanced Audio.here's the weblink, you may  click on the weblink select save to download the file, then open the downloaded folder and install it, the package is approx 392.8 MB.  Audio driver package  Click the Kudos  to say ?Thanks? for helping!

Update: Dolby Advanced Audio v2 app works now so it is just the YouCam issue which I need to get solved.

I have the  same problem as this guy: http://community.acer.com/t5/Legacy-Laptops-and-Netbooks/Acer-Aspire-V5-531-Dolby-Advanced-Audio-not... I did do as Ace Sharanji said, but it didn't help. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling an older version of dolby advanced, I've tried with a newer version. I've tried with old and new realtek audio drives.  I've tried with both Dolby V4 and AV2 but it still won't work. I've looked after solutions from various sites and videos throughout the internet and nothing has worked. Dolby Advanced V2 and Dolby home theatre V4 used to work fine on my old computer, which had windows 8, but it doesn't on my new one that has Windows 10 . My computer is Acer Aspire VN7-591G   As shown on the image, Dolby Advanced isn't working. I have audio playing, but DAV2 just wont work. It doesn't work even if Dolby Digital plus is turned off and Dolby Advanced is turned off. It's supposed to look like this without Digital plus but with Dolby Advanced instead : https://youtu.be/B9z9_41p2aM?t=1m6s Also I tried the solution in this video, didn't work.   I would prefer not to use Dolby Digital plus because it turns off by itself  if more than 1 program that can play audio is running, meaning you can't have for example 2 videos open even if one of them is paused and muted. If you do have more than 1 video open, or a game and something else, or itunes and anything e... Read more

I have a laptop G580 and after installing Windows 10 each time I start up my laptop a message appears that the system cannot start the Dolby audio driver with the message to restart the computer or reinstall the driver.
My system and the sound works OK. Can anyone tell me how I can switch off that message so that it will not appear each time I start up my laptop.
I have seen a similar problem for the G510 but can it be used for my G580. I once tried it but then I had no sound at all, or was it cause I didn't remove the existing driver well.

Hi Lars,
Just a suggestion in order to save time:  If you can share what you have already tried, that will help the other members so they do not repeat the same instructions. Here is the list of models that have been tested so far for the Windows 10 upgrade:  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535

I have a Lenovo Flex 15 that came with Dolby Advanced Audio 2.  I've tried turning Advanced Audio on/off and tweaking all its settings (EQ, volume leveling, virtual surround) and the audio sounds the same no matter what. I tried reinstalling the audio driver. I tried reinstalling Advanced Audio 2 (found in driver's unpacked directory). Any ideas? I'm Windows 8.1 with latest updates and the latest sound driver from Lenovo.

Answer:G780 - Dolby Advanced Audio v2 guides and Bluetooth issue

Hi Lvt,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.
First make sure that the Audio driver and the dolby will be in sync.
Open Device Manager
Uninstall the Audio Device under Sound and gaming controllers / Make sure to place a check in the Delete driver software prompt.

Now make sure you don't have any dolby components
Proceed to Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall a Program
                     Uninstall all Dolby Related programs
                             Restart if Prompted
Now install this software driver

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/au200w81.exe
When you install this software it will show you a directory path whre it will extract, Make sure to remember the path

This next step is important
Open the directory path where the Audio driver installer extracted the Audio driver.
Check all the folders inside it and find the Dolby Installers, Install the Dolby either Advanced audio or Digital plus.

and you should now get your Dolby back

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Regards,
Shashi Kumar
