T420S with RICOH PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller can not detect SanDisk SDHC

Question: T420S with RICOH PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller can not detect SanDisk SDHC

I just bought a new SanDisk SDHC 32GB card but my card reader is not able to detect it, although it can detect SD card. Is there any update driver I need to download to solve this problem?

Preferred Solution: T420S with RICOH PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller can not detect SanDisk SDHC

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi michael0130,thanks for posting and welcome to the community. I was just wondering which OS are you currently using? If your using Win7 or Win8 I would suggest you to update your BIOS First and then uninstall the card reader driver and reinstall it with the latest version below.BIOS (For Win7 or Win8 ONLY!)http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014992Card reader :(Win 7) : http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014960(Win 8) : http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032126Hope this helps and please do post back your results.Regards

I've T420s, Ricoh PICe SDXC/MMC Host Controller, and several SD cards. Right away I can say that the cards (Kingston, Samsung, Transcend) are all right, tried them on different computer and phone, they work well, so I assume this is not a card issue. I never used Card reader extensively, so I can't say if it started lately or was always like that, my T420s is about 1 year old and I'm running Windows 7 32bit. Here is the problem. Device seems to be switching on and off all the time when the card is inserted or taken out. I can say this as I'm keeping device manager window open. It seems like the connection between card reader and motherboard (?) is very bad, as I have to press on the device to pop out and press it back in to appear in the list of devices. When I plug in the card, it might actually show up, but then, when I pop out the card and pop it back it, it won't show again. So I have to take out the device itself again to have a chance of accessing my card. I've tried updating the driver from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014960 But it  didn't help. I've seen this: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/SD-Card-reader-not-working-Code-22-ThinkPad... But even if the device appears under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, there is no "Ricoh SD Disk Device" under "Disk Drives" most of the times when I insert cards. Anyone had similar issues?

Answer:Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller is working porrly with cards, T420s

Hi, answer42

I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date. If the BIOS is not up to date, the motherboard may not be fully recognizing when a card is present in the port. The latest BIOS for your machine is 1.35, and you can find that here. So definitely make sure the BIOS is up to date and see if that helps the issue.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Hi allMy T430s has a 04W3932 Ricoh Multi Card Reader. I have the "usual" problem that the card reader shows up in device manager, but an SD card that I insert is not seen. I have read all the threads on this subject I could find (quite a few) and manually installed this driver: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/g1s902ww.exe The driver seems to install ok, but the problem persists. It is difficult for me to understand, why it should be so hard to publish a driver that works reliably and make this problem go away.I would appreciate a suggestion how to tackle thisThanks a lotRudi

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

Answer:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Answer:how to enable reading 4GB Ridata SDHC card on T61 7663-BC2 with Ricoh R5C476 controller

The Ricoh reader is very picky with the type of SDHC cards you use, apparently only cards from reputable brands i.e. Kingston are shown to work reliably in this card reader system for anything above 2 gig.

My SD card slot does not work.
I am able to install this , and get an updated driver off windows update.
HOWEVER, in device manager, I see this message with a yellow "!"

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers
required for this device. (Code 31)

Have carried out an sfx /scannow but no corrupted files are reported.
Any ideas how to fix this?

My computer's make is Advent and I cannot get any joy from anyone online regarding my problem. I have posted to the Advent's forum and again, no one seems to know or answer.
These are the details:
Advent fp9004
Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.

If you can provide a link to a driver's update, will this install automatically after downloading, or do I need to force the installation and what is the recommended way?

I would be very grateful for any information.

Answer:Ricoh SD Host Controller

Hello & welcome to sevenforums,

If you get an updated driver from Windows Update it means its on your computer now, you could manually try to install the Ricoh driver from the Device Manager .

from the device manager right click, search manually on your computer the path.

Follow this tutorial:
Driver Install - Device Manager

You could try to locate the driver name in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

If not working...the only link i founded for ricoh drivers v6.0:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37872.exe

Download the softpack sp37872 and extract it with 7-Zip for 32-bit Windows

Before:
Create yourself a restore point

Run the Setup.exe inside the extracted folder sp37872.

Note:
You can also manually install the driver from the Device Manager by pointing the search to look at the extracted softpack sp37872 if running the setup.exe doesn't work properly on your machine.

I have been having a problem with my built in Ricoh card reader for quite a while, originally while running Vista Ultimate x86 and now with Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have an Asus G1s.
The problem is that it does not read SD cards, and when I insert an sd card the "Ricoh memory stick disk device" under disk drives in device manager changes to "Ricoh xd-Picture card disk device" and suffers from error 10 failing to start. It seems to me that the problem id that the card reader does not recognise the sd card and thinks it is an xd card.
Under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" I jave three Ricoh devices
Ricoh memory stick controller Hardware id
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_15D71043&REV_12
Ricoh SD/MMC Host controller HW id

and Ricoh xd-picture card controller HW id
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0852&SUBSYS_15D71043&REV_12
Apart from that I have Ricoh 1394 OHCI compliant Host controller HW id

and my standard sda controller HW id
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0822&SUBSYS_15D71043&REV_22
It seems like there is a problem either with the firewire host or the sd sdbus.sys host not recognising the card
I have fully updated all drivers and even tried to change the compatible hardware id in the sdbus.inf and reloading to match the sd host controller al to no avail.
I would very much appreciate any help as the usb card readers I buy are always ... Read more

WIN 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, ASUS M3A78-EM Motherboard.

I built my PC about 3-4 year ago using the above MB and OS and I am very happy with it.

I recently decided to install a 4 port, front, USB 3 hub.

The MB doesn't directly support USB 3 but does have a PCIe 2 slot.

I purchased from Scan a Lycom UB-115, 1x Ext' 1 x Int' 2 x port USB 3 PCIe card, this is a powered card as is the front hub which was puchased seperate to the card.

The multi software disk that came with the PCIe card is NEC.

Installing the front 4 port hub was a doodle, on restarting machine, new hardware was recognised and successfully installed and I know power is getting to hub.

I wasn't so lucky with the software, the NEC 64 bit software installs OK but the USB 3 host controller/driver is not found. If I look in device manger it is not there under Universal Serial Bus Controller, ( which is where I assume the USB 3 controller would show ) and there are no yellow warning triangles, Windows simply can't find the installed software/ host controller/driver.

I spoke to Scan who directed me to Lycom's driver download page, there is an update, so downloaded it, uninstalled previous version, installed update version, still no joy, nothing in device manger.

If I click start, all programs, I can see the software, if I click on the USB 3 Utility icon, a window pops us informing USB 3 Host Controller/Drive not found.

Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?

Answer:USB 3 PCIe card, NEC USB 3 host controller not found?

I see that the new high speed SDXC & SDHC cards that are using UHS-1 will be in exFAT format.
Will my Win7Pro32 using NTFS format recognize these?
Are there new drivers I need to download for my card reader to see these?
I have nor purchased one of these new cards yet for my new HD camcorder, so would like to know before I do the big spend on one of these high speed cards.

System is a Dell Inspiron 530 about 2-3 yrs old.

Hi and welcome to SF!
Yes, Windows 7 recognizes these formats natively, but I recommend that it be with the SP1 installed. As to whether your card reader will be able to read them, I'd say no - taking into account the age of your Dell. But if you can tell the model of card reader, I could tell with more certainty. Use Speccy - Download in case of not knowing what type of card reader. I look forward for your reply.

The X220multimedia card reader in the x220 works on the PCI bus and can read SDXC cards. I have seen comments here that it reads the UHS-1 cards. Can it make full use of the read/write speeds of the latest cards, such as the SanDisk Extreme Pro? Also, does it matter whether NTSF or exFAT is used when the card is used as a backup device, not intended for use in a camera? What are the advantages/disadvantages of using SDHC/SDXC cards for backup?

Has anyone imstalled a 64GB SDXC card and had any issies with it on the Yoga 13? I installed the card, formatted it to be safe and started using it. All seemed fine until I placed data on it. The card would cause the Yoga13 to do some or all of the following;Bog DownLock upStop seeing the SD card, it would disappear from the installed media listContinuously need to RESCAN the SD card (very slowly - 90 seconds or more), and sometimes lock up in the processKeep the Yoga from shutting down Now, I have NO issues with a 64GD USB drive, super fast loading and never causes any issues. If I remove the SD card, the problems go away. So I know the response is going to be YOU HAVE A BAD SD CARD, which is FINE, as long as I do not buy another $60-$100 card and have the sample problem, only to find out it is a driver issue that needs to be resolved on the Yoga 13. If anyone has a SD card they are happy with and have none of the issues, could you let me know the Make/Model. Also, if anyone has had the same problem and have tried multiple cards, also let me (us) know so that we can try and get the manufacturer to at least tell us a fix or update is on the way! Thanks in advance......D

Hi

As far as I know the SD card reader supports the SD card up to 2GB, SDHC up to 16Gb and mini SD card (with adapter) up to 2GB.

I didn?t find any details about the usage of bigger SDHC cards and I think you will have to test it yourself?. But in my opinion there could be a problem using such cards!

I have a Lenovo IdeaCentre, purchased only four weeks ago.  It product family is IdeaCentre k410, machine type 10089.  Anyhow, the problem is: I inserted a microSD / microSDHC, both of which seem to fit into the slot fine, though neither registers under anywhere in windows explorer, neither in the root of C://, nor in any of the subdirectories, or on the main listing of mounted file systems.  I used the Lenovo Driver Updater and re-installed the SD Card Reader driver, to no avail.  Any help would greatly be appreciated.  As well, the computer runs Windows 8, which has some features I'm unhappy with, and although this is not a windows forum and I don't mean to create a thread that deviates from lenovo-specific topics, I was wondering if there is anything in either the machine architecture or the software of Windows 8 that could hinder m in installing a dual-boot system so that I might have the option of running a variant of linux as a sub-operating system, as I did with windows XP.?????  OK any help at all would be so greatly appreciated, thank in advance.  I really want to be able to retrieve some writing files I have stored in that micro SDHC card.  As another aside, does anyone know the max limit of RAM this computer can take and if it is DDR or some other type?

Answer:SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC/MS/MS Pro card-reader slot not showing up in windows explorer.

hi BrokenHalo,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your questions:
1. When you inserted the SD card, do you hear a sound that a device is inserted and under Device Manger, do you see a Card Reader?

If not, try to:
a. boot intto the BIOS by pressing F1, load defaults by pressing F9 then press F10 to save and exit BIOS.
b. Reseat the front panel connectors (see page 23 of the hardware maintenance manual)

2. To install linux (i.e. Ubuntu), see if you can install Ubuntu via UEFI. If you're unable to do so or if you want to install other OS, try to:
a. Boot into the BIOS by pressing F2 and set the following settings below

UEFI Boot Mode = Legacy
Secure Boot = Disabled  (if applicable)
CSM = Disabled /  Legacy or Other OS (if applicable)
OS Optimized Default = Disabled or Legacy (if applicable)

b. When finished, press F10 to save and exit BIOS then try to install Ubuntu via Wubi or insert your Windows installation disc to install a different OS.

3. As per this pdf data sheet, the Lenovo K410 has a max RAM of 8GB PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3  but Crucial reports that this unit can take up to 16GB PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 - check this site.

Hope this helps

I experienced issues on a SanDisk Extreme Pro card 128 Gb.  Up til 64 Gb I had no issues with SD cards... on 128 Gb, Windows 8.1 there were lots of issues (windows blocking, cannot write files, etc)My old T440s on Windows 7 worked fine with this card so I suspected a driver issue... Uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo driver did not gave a good outcome. After long search I found the latest driver could be downloaded from the following URL:http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=15&PFid=25&Level=4&Conn=3&DownT... Uninstall the driver (make sure, it's removed from the laptop)Install the new 8.1 driver from the link above and ... that's it! Lenovo might maybe consider about updating the SDXC driver on their website's download-section soon...

I have used the Ricoh reader to back up my data partition by drag-and-drop copy to Transcend SDHC card. When I try to use drag-and-drop copy again to copy the updated data partition I get the message that there is not sufficient free space. But when I use this procedure on an external USB HDD I do not have that problem--Windows simply copies over the old file on the external HDD. Why does this not work with SDHC card in the Ricoh reader? Also, with this Class 10 SDHC card the initial backup took ages! Please advise, as I really want to use SDHC in the Ricoh reader as a backup medium.

Answer:Ricoh reader-SDHC for backup-cannot do copy and replace

Hello,

My guess would be that the Windows "drag and drop" method does not account for duplicated files when calculating the size of the files to transfer.  You might want to look into a third-party program to perform the copy which does take that into account, or look into using the command line-based RoboCopy (filename: ROBOCOPY.EXE) utility to perform the operation.

but it doesn't work, also today for some unknown reason
there's now a pin on the card when it's in my phone
it has no un/lock slider on this card it seems the phone has randomly pinned it
I can't reformat it, it has stuff on there I can never get back
is there any way to fix the problem?

I have a SanDisk SDHC Card 16GB. It has information on it.I want to use it to backup my laptop pc. I have been told I can do this, but I don't know how? I am running windows 7 home premium with Microsoft 10

Answer:How do I Backup Win7 laptop to SanDisk 16GB SDHC card

Buy a card reader which plugs into your laptop's USB port. Most card readers can both read from and write to a memory card. You just use copy-and-paste or drag-and-drop to put files on it, just as you would put a file on a hard drive or pen drive.Be aware that you need to keep your backups on two different mediums in case one of them fails. (eg an SD Card and a Pen Drive or CD).

I am unable to read my Sandisk Ultra SDHC 8GB camera card with my Sony Vaio VGN-AR21S laptop with XP Professional XP3 Media Centre Edition.

I thought the laptop should have a card reader slot but I cannot find one and when I tried the card with a USB adaptor it was not recognised.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Answer:Unable to read my Sandisk Ultra SDHC 8GB camera card

Found the following on the Sandisk website.

Other options you can use to read files on your SDHC card
If your computer's card reader is not SDHC compatible, you have 3 options available:

1. You can connect your camera (or other device) that works with SDHC to your computer using a USB cable that came with the camera. You should be able to transfer files to the computer this way.

2. You can contact your computer manufacturer to see if they have a free firmware update for your model that will make it SDHC compatible

3. You can buy inexpensive SanDisk SDHC card readers that will connect to your computer's USB port. Click to expand...

I am based in Mumbai and bought here a Lumia 625 two years ago. Now I want to add / insert Micro SD card to augment memory. I was searching what is suitable or compatible type of SD card but could not understand or find a straight answer. Specification of 625 phone I could find online on third party website ( not Nokia.com ) only says "MicroSD card". Where as there are so many type / class etc.

Hi, Just did a clean (well, Lenovo Restore clean) Win 7 Pro 64 bit install on my 2441 W530.  The issue is that the card reader doesn't seem to recognize cards.  The Driver is installed and claims to be "working properly".  But if I shove a card in the slot and have it click in, nothing happens.  No little "thudump" noise from the O/S, no recognition of the drive in Windows Explorer.  Any ideas? Thanks, J

Answer:Ricoh PCIe SCXC/MMC card reader not recognizing cards...

Hello,

If you boot the W530 from a Linux Live CD and attempt to access an SD Card, is it then recognized?  If not, I would say that it is a hardware issue (perhaps the internal card reader apparatus is loose).

Hi,

I currently have Motherboard Asus P5B-Plus Vista edition which has
1 x PCI-E x16, 3 x PCI-E x1, 3 x PCI 2.2

I plan to build a data server with this motherboard and buy Promise Supertrak EX8350 which is PCI-E x4 Raid controller card.

My question is. Instead of buying a new motherboard that has PCI-E x4 slot.
Can I just install the PCI-E x4 Raid controller card into PCI-E x16 slot which is normally for video card? And Just buy a cheap regular PCI video card for PCI 2.2 slot?

Hopefully someone could help me with this and I thank you in advance.
NYSaint

Answer:PCIe x4 Raid controller card into PCIe x16 slot

The 4X card has the long edge connector for the socket I assume, then yes. I have a second x16/4 slot that, iirc, they say will work as a 4x slot. That said, do they make a PCIE x1 videocard for the short slot?

Question: Can't detect SDHC

For a long time ive been using this sd reader with my SDHC cards on my pc without any issues, however this week they stopped working. Windows doesn't detect them at all. I tried a few other sdhc cards and they didn't work either however an old 2GB sd card did.

Thinking the reader was broken I bought this one to replace it and still windows wont detect shdc cards.
Ive tried the following with the iogear reader.

-2GB standard SD - works
-4GB, two 16GB SDHC - not detected
-8GB and 32GB micro-sdhc in sd adapter - not detected
-8GB and 32GB micro-sdhc in the micro sd slot - works

I don't understand whats going on, Its all running through the same chip on the reader and all the cards work fine when I tested them with a built in sd slot on a laptop and on other devices like a camera.

I suppose the iogear reader could be faulty as well but it seems odd that normal sd works but not sdhc. if it was broken you'd think neither would work in that slot and it wouldn't read cards in the microsd slot either.

Any ideas if this is a windows problem and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Can't detect SDHC

I've had mixed success using SanDisk adapters to support my 32GB and 64GB microSDHC cards, in assorted readers as well as the SD card reader slot on an old internal USB interface combo-floppy disk drive I have that also has card slots.

However I've had no problem when the microSDHC cards are plugged directly into external USB card readers (like this wonderful one from IOGear) which have slots for microSDHC cards.

For the low cost, I'd just solve the problem by getting a new reader (like the one I pointed to) which has all the needed slot sizes and reads micro and SD size cards directly.

For my recently bought E5570 Latitude I bought an new/bigger/faster SSD.
It's the Samsung 950 PRO with the PCIe connection and NVMe support.
I have created an Windows 10 install USB to doe a fresh install but windows does not see/detect the drive.
-edit-I was able to install windows by loading the F6 drivers for Intel Rapid Storage.
But not the less funny part, I only hit about 1000Mb/s reading while it should be around 2500Mb/s.Now samsung has a special NVME driver but that states no NVME drive is installed. Also samsung magician does not detect the drive correctly. The name is all weird and it has 0Gb storage.
Did anyone already come accross this issue? And if so how did you solve it

Answer:Windows 10 does not see/detect Samsung 950 PRO M2. PCIE/NVMe drive

Here is the guideline from Dell:

Im also interested in E5570, some questions:
1. Quite many user reviews complain about high-frequency noise coming from mobo or PSU unit. Can you confirm?
2. Would you know if any available Dell SSD option is actually NVMe?
Also, the trouble is, you have to buy M.2 SSD from Dell in order to get 6cell battery.

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion HPE h8-1360t Desktop and I have been trying to install a Vantec 2-Port SATA II 300 PCIe Host Card with RAID. It uses a Silicon Image 3132 controller http://www.siliconimage.com/solutions/pc/host-controller/. The operating system is Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 64 bit. The computer does not recognize the card in any of the PCIe slots and it does not appear in the device manager. I cannot bring up the card's BIOS, either. I have started and restarted the computer with the card in and out of each of the slots and it is never recognized. Any ideas on how I can get the computer to recognise the card? Thanks!

Answer:PCIe SATA II Host Card with RAID not recognized

Enter the BIOS and see if it is recognized as being present. That is where you should begin. According to the information on Vantec's website you should see the SATA ports in the device manager after it is installed.  Best regards, erico

Answer:Realtek 1xGigabit LAN Controller vs Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

That 1x you posted from the specs is actually 1 x,

Realtek?, 1 x Gigabit LAN Controller(s)

meaning that there is one controller on the motherboard. Some boards come with dual LAN controllers, hence why they mentioned it only having one. The second will be the name of the onboard LAN controller.

So, I've run into a little problem that has me stumped. I am building a machine for gaming. Here's what I have in it:

Asus M2N32-SLi Deluxe
AMD FX-62 @ 2.8GHz
4x 512Mb (2Gb total) Ultra DDR2 XL 800Mhz
nVidia 7950 GX2 (1Gb RAM)
Silicon Image 3132 HDD controller 1x PCI Express
2x WD 250Gb SATA, RAID 0

I put that SiI 3132 card in because of the nForce 590SLi MCP's incompatibility with those two HDDs (I've tried everything to make these drives work, and it won't even work with only one drive).

Now, everything works fine except for the video card. I can install Vista with no problems (both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions) but when I try running 3Dmark06 or CounterStrike or any 3d program (in 32 bit or 64 bit Vista), I get small artifacts on the load screen then the video driver crashes. Of course, Vista is nice and doesn't allow that to crash the entire system and just shuts down the game and reloads the video driver.

I did use an old school IDE HDD as a temporary fix before I got the 3132 controller and successfully ran 3Dmark and all kinds of games on the same vid card. I would hope this HDD controller is not the cause of all the trouble, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was  . I have all the new drivers from nVidia for both the chipset and the video card.

Anyone have any idea what it could be or any tips on what to do? I greatly appreciate any help in advance. Thanks guys!

So I want to use wakeup on lan. I have searched google for answers of how to do this. I have done the power options on the ethernet adapter in device manager and went into BIOS to allow WOL (I couldn't find the option). I am using this app called unified remote to wakeup my laptop but it hasn't worked. I think it maybe has to do with the ethernet adapter turning off during sleep. If this is the case then how do I keep the ethernet adapter from turning off during sleep?

Answer:WOL realtek pcie gbe family controller

I had to go back to the realtek website and install their drivers. This adds an option under advanced properties for the LAN adapter in device manager for "WOL from power off" (or something like that) that wasn't there with the Microsoft driver.

I think I had to extract the Realtek drivers, right click on the LAN adapter in device manager, update driver, choose from list of hardware, have disk -> select the .inf file, and manually install the driver that way, IIRC.

On my HP Netbook which uses Windows 7 Starter 32-bit, I checked for downloads on 12/31/2015 and received this requested update: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller. What was strange was the following message that was included: Update released in November 2014.

This did not make any sense that it showed up over a year later since I have been updating and using this netbook almost on a daily basis with WiFi as a necessity.

My WiFi is working perfectly, so why would i even want to mess around and have the weird problems that seem to happen to those who just download everything from Microsoft in blind faith?

Did anyone else receive this update at that time?

There's a new update for my network adapter, but I'm having problems updating it. I downloaded the Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Driver 7.058 off RealTek's website and inside the 64b folder there is no setup or install. It only contains .dll and .sys.

How do I install this?

Answer:Solved: RealTek PCIe GBE Family Controller

You would use the "Update Driver" feature from Device Manager to update to this driver.

OR

Instead of downloading the ZIP/manual update version, you can download the Auto Installation version from the Realtek website: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...d=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

So I had this issue where my ethernet connection on my Lenovo B570 laptop keeps disconnecting about every couple of minutes and the link lights would turn off then it would reconnect. So I did the following:

visit Realtek and install the latest driver. (Might not be necessary but do it anyways)
open Network and Sharing Center, click on Manage adapter settings, right click Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (Local Area Connection) and select properties. Click on configure, switch to advanced tab and change the following properties:

Auto Disable Gigabit > Relink Battery or AC
Green Ethernet > Disable
Energy Efficient Ethernet > Disable

My ethernet connection has been stable so far.

Hope this helps anyone.

Answer:Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller keeps disconnecting - my fix.

Thank You Very Much! Your manual really helped me!
I was dancing with a tambourine for 3 nights, before i found Your message.
I Must add that 1 step was made by myself: link speed/duplex settings were changed from Auto to 10 Mb, Full Duplex. And only after that link lights began to work....

My house got struck by lightning. I had all electricity protected but forgot to surge protect the DSL phone line. The phone line didn't get a direct hit but picked up some static and my modem was lost. Also, the ethernet plug on my OOMA phone system was lost along with the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. It shows as not working. The rest of the computer seems fine. This is on an Asus motherboard.

Can I fix this by simply purchasing a replacement networking card and plugging it into one of the motherboard card slots? If it requires a special type, please let me know.

Thanks

Answer:Lightning fried PCIe GBI Family Controller. What now?

Depending on the model number of that ASUS motherboard and what type slots it has, you'll need to buy and install a PCI or PCI Express x1 ethernet card to replace the one that went bad.

If your PC has an open PCI (or PCIe) slot, you should be able to install a replacement like this (if you have a "low profile" desktop unit, be sure to get one with the proper height backplane):

http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-32-B...=1400109089&sr=8-2&keywords=pci+ethernet+card

As for the OOMA box, DSL modem, etc. you'll have to test each one. If the DSL unit came from your ISP, you should call their customer support line to run a remote diagnostic test on it.

hello I hope I can get some fresh ideas Ivetried alot of different things and nothing seems to be working.
first off this is a new fresh install of windows 8 i had to download and install 8.1 via updates. This computer is fully updated.

It is an older computer but I only use it for my TV to store Movie/Videos
ASUS M3A78-EM
AMD Phenom 8450 @ 2.1ghz
2gb gskill ram
blueray drive
3tb seagate
2tb wd
kingston 120gb SSD

after a fresh install everything worked fine until i tried to connect to my local network the onboard NIC has an error (code 10) it is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family NIC. after finding this i uninstalled and went to Realteks website and got the newest windows 8 64bit drivers. ran the install and it updated the drivers... but the device still cannot start so i uninstalled again and picked the drivers manually and that didn't change the issue either.

So i checked the back of the computer and noticed that non of the activity lights were lighting up on the NIC so i pulled the ram and battery AND power cord and let it sit. (ive delt with a similar issue before where a NIC would stay asleep and not wake up) after a wait i turned it back on and noticed that i had an orange light glowing again on the NIC.

After setting up the bios i booted back into windows only to see that as SOON as the driver were automatically installed the lights in the back go out and of course..... the device cannot start error.....

At this point I cant think of anything else to do. I do have a wi... Read more

Hi,
Recently I did a clean install of Windows 8 Pro on my Asus K53SV laptop, i did not notice this right away since my Wi-Fi is working with no flaws but when i try an Ethernet connection, it gives me an unidentified network and a limited connection.
Iv tried resetting the router, tried multiple drivers (ones from asus site and realtek site), connecting directly to the router and modem but they all seem to come out as a limited connection. I have also tried reset winsock entries and reset TCP/IP stack.
I don't want to do a clean install if its not gonna have a very high chance that it will fix this issue; I have a desktop that's connected via Ethernet and it has no problems getting connection. Are there any other ways I can fix this?

Thank you

The Asus site doesn't show an updated LAN driver for Windows 8 yet.

Have you tried going directly to Realtek for the driver, it shows a driver for Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller half way down the first page for Windows 8.

Site 1 is for the US mirror download site.

Second link is just front door.

On an HP Pavilion E9220Y.

Problem:
The gigabit ethernet card, Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller, is not responsive after disabling then enabling the card, or after unplugging the ethernet cable then plugging it back in. However, from a cold boot the ethernet card works fine.

The card has the latest drivers.

Thankfully the wireless adapter is fully functional, but would love to get the ethernet card to function correctly too.

Any ideas?

I am experiencing this error and cannot seem to get it to go away. I began exploring what is happening because of such varied computer speeds. I am running a Dell 3847 with windows 10 and speeds vary from 4 to 50 mb but it's mostly it's usually somewhere between 20 to 40 mb. My computer connects via wifi. I have gone to the Dell site and looked for the upgraded driver and downloaded it but I am still getting this error. I have also went to the device manager, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to no avail. I also tried a couple things I read online regarding power management and made sure Auto Disable Gigabit, Green Ethernet and Energy Efficient Ethernet were all disabled but none of this done anything to resolve the error. Also, right after the family controller error I am receiving this one as well but I assume is because of the said error:
The local adapter does not support an important Low Energy controller state to support peripheral mode. The minimum required supported state mask is 0x491f7fffff, got 0x1fffffff. Low Energy peripheral role functionality will not be available.

If anyone has a suggestion on what I could try next I would greatly appreciate it!!

I own a HP xw6600 workstation with two E5450 Xeon Quad Cores and 32 GB of - Quad Channel memory installed an one Samsung 850 Pro SSD as my main OS drive together with an WD Re 2 TB HDD. Investing in a original Adaptec or LSI SAS controller card is perhaps a bit too much for a almost 6 year old workstation. There for I am considering to buy a SATA III - PCIe controller card with two SATA connectors and two mSATA connectors instead.Has anyone here tried that before and if so how did that workout for you ?

I am using a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller on my motherboard for ethernet, and it randomly, with no rhyme or reason, disconnects from the network, at least once every few hours. It works again when I disable and reenable it, but it's extremely aggravating whenever it happens. I've tried using multiple versions of the driver, and I have tried disabling any sort of "Green" and "Energy Efficient" features (including "Advanced EEE"). Nothing has changed what's going on. I'm currently running 10.16.323.2017, but I've also run 10.1.505.2015 and 9.1.406.2015 versions of the driver.

I've also unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

My Realtek PCIe GBE Family Network Controller driver has very slow download speed. At first I would uninstall it and restart my computer, then the speed would go back to normal. However, after a while, the download speed would go below 10Mbps, until I would have to uninstall the driver and restart over again. I have already updated the drivers and tested postiive with other laptops. How do I fix this issue?

I recently upgraded my HP p6608f desktop to Windows 10.  I am having some issue that have pointed to the Ethernet adapter.  In Device Manager it is identified as Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.  I would like to download the latest driver for it.  HP does not support my computer for Windows 10 therefore I would go to Realtek for the driver.  http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTy...On the Realtek site they list identifiers for the controller such as RTLxxxxx.  How do I know which controller mine is so I can get the correct driver?  I will mention that on another computer I also have a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and it has driver v. 10.1.505.2015 which seems different than what is shown on the Realtek site.

Answer:Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller can not connect to wifi?

You need to get a usb or pci wireless card if you want to connect to wifi. The realtek gbe is a gigabit ethernet interface, so you have to plug a cable in to it to get internet or network access.
