I have T410 ThinkPad that I bought with Win7 Pro but had to put XP on when I first bought if for a contract I was working on. I'd now like to put Win7 Pro back on, but I can't find the media. Where can I get a full Win7 Pro w/ drivers for my machine?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a T410 2516-CTO, Bios Ver 1.34, and Windows 7 64bit. I would like to expand my memory. I currently have 2gigs, and would like to expand up to 6 or 8. What I can't seem to find an answer to is the max supported memory for my model.  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-55644#t This link is displaying that the T410 model's maximum memory is 8gigs, however searching other sources online I keep reading about how they max out at 6gigs. Hoping someone with this model has some experience with this and can tell me what the max is.  If you need any other information about my system please ask and I will update as I can

Answer:T410 2516-CTO Memory

Hi merpmerp,

T410 supports 8GB, although it might show 7.x.x or less in Windows due to the OS reserving the memory for graphics and other tasks. The support page says otherwise, but even T61 supports 8GB, many users have done it.

Would you mind linking to other sources that claim that T410 maxes out at 6GB? Crucial also says 8GB.

Keep us posted.

I am assessing external esata drives for expansion for backup and storage of photos/music/business files. I want (my definition of need) a 500GB-1TB capacity, prefer 7200RPM. I've reviewed and dismissed going with an USB 3.0 Expresscard34 and USB 3.0 drive.  I don't currently work with video files so I dont have a pressing need to handle large files, but generally larger quantities of smaller files. I understand the USB 3.0 claims but today it seems simpler and easier to go with esata for a variety of reasons especially effective, real-world throughput/performance. I don't pay much attention to the 10X, etc. claims of USB 3.0 and the benchmarks I've seen seem to support that view. I would like to have a "mobile" drive, but have come to believe that isn't readily available except for the Lenovo 500GB and the LaCie.  I've looked at LaCie, Fantom, Seagate Western Digital, G-Technology and the Lenovo Secure 500GB esata drive. I don't have any concerns about the T410 not having an esatap connection, I'm happy with an A/C adapter and/or USB connection for power to an esata drive. I'm running Win 7-64, i7 M 620  2.67 GHz processor, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA NVS 3100M video, 500Gb 7200 RPM HDD, Qualcomm Gobi 2000HS-USB Mobile Broadband. So, will my current system configuration effectively use anything faster then the Lenovo 500GB and is 5400 RPM sufficient to drive optimal transfer speeds to the external esata drive? This may be at a bit of a tangent, but here's my $.02: I like an external USB/eSATA enclosure with my choice of standard internal drives installed.  The Rosewill enclosure is working well for me.  It has a built-in fan with a switch, so it can be left silent if the drive runs cool enough. I have to initialize a new drive in USB mode then run in eSATA, but that's no big deal, and seems to be a common quirk. I'm using a Samsung 2TB drive in my enclosures.  This particular drive is 5400RPM, but can still maintain transfer speeds close to 100 MB/sec while running nice and cool.  That's when connected to my i7 desktop.  W/the T400 I have to use an external eSATA card, which seems to be limited by the cardbus interface to somewhat less than full capability.  Hopefully your T410 doesn't have that bottleneck - I can't speak to that. Rosewill RX-358-S BLK (Black) 3.5" SATA to USB & eSATA Ext. Hi guys,I have the above mentioned model. I want to verify my understanding (from reading the forums) is correct regarding the multiple monitor setup. This model is NOT capable of  running 2 external displays + 1 internal laptop display  all at the same time. I checked the BIOS and i dont see any mention of  nvidia.  Is there any way i can get 3 monitors all displaying at same time without purchasing a dock-3 ?  I am considering simply buying another laptop (about $300 for a cheap one)  instead of spending money  on the dock. After all, this laptop is getting old and i need to get ready for some kind of  unrecoverable  crash. (I do not backup stuff, for lack of time and stuff is not work related). The second question is on cleaning this laptop. After running 15 hrs a day,  all days of the week, for past  2 and half  years, this laptop has impressed me with its stability.  But i had to buy a laptop cooler to hold the bottom of the laptop because it started getting hot and crashing on me every 2 days (because i run video intense app for much of the time).  I am planning to take it to local fry's electronics for taking it apart and getting a good internal cleanup done on this.  Is there any precautions i should mention to the fry's  technician ?  I am planning to backup important files, just in case the laptop dies after that.  Would like to hear any stories (good or bad) after a cleaning&nbs... I am having the above problem when resuming from standby state only.  The drives blip on, the WiFi and Bluetooth LEDs light up, but the screen never turns on, and the only way out is to force a cold reboot.  It does resume ok from hibernate state.  I tried all the various suggested fixes and patches, along with configuring the Windows power management options the same way as another PC (not a ThinkPad) with Win 7 Pro x64, which DOES resume fine.  I then did a complete re-image of my ThinkPad using the factory restore DVDs, and before applying any patches or updates (MS or Lenovo), I tested it again, and it still won't resume from sleep. This is definitely a bug, and my guess is it's either the NVIDIA graphics driver, graphics BIOS or system BIOS (I have the very latest T410 BIOS installed).  I tried calling 1-800-IBM-SERV ThinkPad support twice, and the techs just blamed it either on my power settings or on an unrelated hotfix, which I did install.  How can I get Lenovo to open a case and fix this?  And, to the person who erroneously suggested it's a switchable graphics issue, my T410 does not have switchable graphics; it only has the NVIDIA discrete graphics.  This is also not some setting error on my part; I know what I am doing, and this works fine on my other 3 Win 7 machines...  Thanks.

I have been sent 4 sets of Windows 7 Recovery Media from Lenovo over the past week and a half. These DVDs are unusable as they will not boot because they were created as non-bootable DVDs. When looking at the DVDs, they all just have 1 file on them - 0A44006.dvd.  I was sent a set of the 32bit version and it has multiple files on it with Bootmgr and 6 directories and will boot just fine. The 64bit DVDs obviously were created and replicated without any of these files to make it a bootable DVD. Can someone from Lenovo (Morristown, NC) find out why and fix these DVDs. The support center in Atlanta can only order another set from Morristown and I keep getting bad DVDs.

Answer:T410 Windows 7 Recovery Media 64bit from Lenovo will not boot

Hi,

This really sounds like Lenovo has mis-manufactured a batch of recovery DVDs.  Almost like they're copying the ISO file rather than using it as an image.

Out of curiousity (if you care to mess with this) can you open the .DVD file with a free tool like 7zip?  If you can, do you see a more appropriate set of files?

And to double-check: are all the .DVD files exactly the same name?  It would be interesting if the file name was different for each DVD within a given set.

[edit] What size is that file?  It may just be a version indicator (or similar) on an otherwise blank DVD.

None of this helps you directly but might help identify what's going on.

BTW, I've deleted your other post.  It's not quite on-topic in that thread and divides the discussion.  Someone following there might not see a resolution here or v-v.

Hi,

I recently had a Cisco 2516 router pass into my hands, and need just a little information on it. Is it possible to hook the ISDN BRI port (which looks like standard RJ45) into a cable modem or other ethernet interface instead? Silly question I know, but it might make a useful low-end setup for something I'm doing. I don't even want to bother hooking it up if I can't use it for this, as it won't be worth my time trying to reset it, upgrade the IOS, etc.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

erm, to answer your question...no!

an isdn bri interface is just that, an isdn bri interface! you can't do anything with it other than hook it up to an isdn line!

Hi all, Long story short, dropped lappy, took it to Geek Squad at best buys, determined they could not  see all 3 partition, only one partition.  So they said buy new hard drive and take old drive elsehwhere to recover data.   Bought new hard drive, tried to boot up with Recovery/Boot Media but the system is saying "worng disk, please put in correct one"  I only have 1 Recovery Media Disk that I made last year.   Am i missing something?   If i can't use the Media Disk how should i proceed so i can get the lappy working again?  Do i have to purchase MS office 2007 and start from there? Thanks!

Sounds like you may have created a Windows repair disk, not a Lenovo recovery disk set? Edit:  You can get a T430 recovery disk set from Lenovo - about $45.00

Hello, I would like to install a new (larger) hard drive in my Lenovo ThinkPad T410. I'm trying to create recovery media so I can install Windows 7 Pro on the new hard disk.  However, when I try to create the recovery media, I get the error "The file S:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winRE.wim required by this program cannot be found." Anyone have any idea why this file would be missing and how I can proceed? Thanks,--Joe

Answer:t410 can't create recovery media

Hi Joe,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

How many partition have you created in your system? Have you done any changes in the partition table?

If yes, then you cannot able to use the recovery partition or you can able to create recovery media. We have to create the recovery media before doing any changes in the partition.
Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hello all, I tried to reply to the thread with a similar title to provide a correct answer. So I am reintroducing the topic and providing an answer that seems to work.

Problem: I want to use media player with very minimal frame. Many answers are "play full screen". But I know that media can be played in windows media without any skin, very minimal framing and floating media controls over the video that auto hide when you move away.

Answer:

Press Ctrl-2. This puts you in a skin mode. There should be menu items at the top: File, View, Play, Tools, Help
Choose View->Skin Chooser
You are now in the full media player experience. Do not choose a skin. Click the 3 square & arrow thing at the bottom "Switch to now playing"
Viola! No skin, minimal borders and floating media controls.

I have no idea why this is not a simple option. I think what I am choosing is the most basic skin, maybe not even intended for use. But this is my favorite player, super simple.

Hi,I have a Thinkpad T410 that was delivered with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. But for using the notebook with 8 GB RAM I need to have 64-bit version. On the COA under the battery it says Windows 7 Pro OA but nothing about 32-bit or 64-bit. Does it mean that I can use a 64-bit installation?

Answer:32 bit or 64 bit Windows on T410

Yes, under Microsoft's licensing, you can use the same Windows 7 Product ID to install either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7 on your system, but you cannot upgrade from 32 to 64-bit, so it will have to be a fresh installation. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/is-a-windows-7-license-k... Cheers,

I have a Lenovo T410 Laptop, Windows 7 Professional - x64 that is still under warranty.  In the last few days I keep getting
this dialog box that says "This computer is not running genuine Windows".  When I click the "resolve online now" link it
wants me to install software.  when I run the software, it then prompts me to pay for a genuine copy.

The computer was purchased directly from Lenovo, so I am confident that it is running a legitimate copy of Windows.

I called Microsoft, and they had me run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool which showed a corrupt registry
component. Microsoft stated they need the installation CD key to fix this issue and to verify and authenticate the Windows
license.  There was no Windows 7 sticker with the license key anywhere on the computer as far as I can see.  I have searched through the material supplied with the computer, however no windows 7 license or key was provided.

I used a keyfinder tool, but it says the registry entry is corrupt.

Where do I find the key?

I'm at my wits end.

I put together a capable gaming pc about a month ago with a bunch of new components and some cannibalized older components.

I installed all of the drivers from the motherboard cd. I have a radeon x1300 vid card. I'm running windows xp home ed. I've installed about every codec and plugin under the sun. I've troubleshot my load with regard to Windows itself.

I cannot play Windows Media Audio/Video files for the life of me.

I do get audio, but the video is all hyper-colored like looking at scrambled porn.

It doesn't matter if I download the video or watch it in a browser (any browser). It doesn't matter if I open up the DLed video in real player, Windows Media player or Generic DIVX player #458973: it still comes out all scrambled and in crazy moon-man rainbow colors.

I have no problem playing any other type of windows media player file. Quicktime works fine as well.

Please help.

Answer:Windows Media Player won't properly play Windows Media Audio/Video files

Well standard Window's media files should play without the need for any additional codecs.

Maybe check the forums of your vid card for some answers.

I have a T410,   ID  2522-22U. I upgraded to windows 10 with seeming success. My display adapter is Intel HD Graphics and works well. My question is: the Windows 10 that installed is 32-bit but I have an x64 based processor. The 32-bit OS will not utilize 8GB RAM but the T410 will take it. I am wondering what drivers might be affected by upgrading to 64-bit.
Reading this article, "How to upgrade from a 32-bit to 64-bit version of Windows 10" (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-upgrade-32-bit-64-bit-version-windows-10), I downloaded Sysinternals' program CoreInfo to check the four values this article says must be in place. All are good.
I haven't found on the Lenovo site yet information about T410 driver options. It seems almost that the T410 is all but erased. There should at least be historical information and links.
My printer driver can update.
I will be looking into specific compents like the Intel HD Graphics.
What Lenovo-specific drivers might there be to upgrade and where are they? I would expect this would not be a problem as this T410 was built with an x64 processor.
All knowledge and experience welcome!
Thanks

Hi, I have a T410 corporate with Windows XP Professional sp3 and I cannot upgrade to a newer OS version. I changed the traditional HD with a Samsung SSD 840 Pro 256GB, but the performance is very, very, very poor: only 60Mb/sec instead of 550Mb/sec of 840 Pro. I know that T410 contain a Sata2 controller, so my expectation is max 230Mb/sec. I know that Trim function is not supported with Windows XP, but SSD is new and empty for 85%. I just enabled AHCI function into BIOS before installing OS, so it is correctly recognized from Windowx XP. I used Samsung Magician 4.1 utility to optimize OS and SSD. I updated driver for Intel 5 Series Sata AHCI Controller to the last available from Lenovo support site. SSD Firmware version is the last available from Magician and from Samsung support site. I tried the same T410 with an SSD OCZ Vertex 4 256GB and the performance are correctly 230Mb/sec due to Sata2 controller. So the problem is on the combination of SSD 840 Pro and Windows XP. Do you have ideas? Thanks

I am trying to download an audiobook from my local library. I generally use Overdrive Media Console to do this. When I try to download the book I get an error message letting me know that my Windows Media Player needs a Security Upgrade in order to play the DRM files. It tells me to click on TOOLS in the Overdrive toolbar and then Windows Media Player Security Upgrade. When I do this, a dialog box appears and tells me to make sure I am connected to the internet (I am) and click OK. When I click OK - nothing happens. When I read the Windows Help file - it indicates that when I click OK in the dialog box in Overdrive, it is supposed to open WMP and another dialog box. It never does.
The Help file gives me a web site to go to where I can upgrade manually - this appears to be a Microsoft website. The Upgrade button here is grayed out.
I made sure I was using IE as the browser.
I opened WMP manually to see if there was anything I could upgrade manually there.
I can't even determine what version of WMP I have since the Properties button is grayed out.
I just bought this computer yesterday... it's running windows 8

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it! I very much miss my audiobooks and I am literally banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out!!!

thanks,
Krista

Hi guys,
Using my desktop pc (Windows XP Professional), I copied songs from my cds to the computer thru Windows Media Player and then moved all the songs to my portable hard drive.
I connected my hard drive to my laptop (Vista Home Premium) and tried to play the files thru Windows Media Player. Unfortunately, WMP 11 did not play the file but opened a Mozilla Firefox window leading to a site that would ask me to download license.
Upon clicking the 'Download License' button, I encountered the error that said I had to install Windows Media Services plug-ins.
I searched for this plug-in and found out that it was associated with WMP 9 and not WMP 11 so I thought installation might cause conflicts or might create more errors. I'm not so good at computer and I don't even know which to install when WMP website gave me too many options and downloadables.
These make me so frustrated and I don't even know if I could still copy my songs from my hard drive to my laptop and play them.
Could someone please help me out? Please...

I am transfering my music files from an old Sony, Windows98, Media player7 to another machine, an HP, WindowsXP, media player9. When I try to play any of these tracks in or out of playlist it doesn't play them it pulls up internet explorer. Where it is trying to go I dont know as I am not online yet with that machine. I noticed in the Tools, Options, Privacy tab there are options that request information from the internet about the songs. There are check boxes that are empty next to them so I dont think they're enabled. I have fields empty for each track. Like Album, media info. Is it searching for that? Can I bypass the process?

Answer:Solved: Having problem playing transfered music from windows media 7 to windows media 9

Found problem, I protected the tracks when I downloaded them so when I go to transfer them & play them on this other PC it is pulling up internet explorer to get license confirmation. I won't do that again. Said something about limiting the number of computers to be played on after you protect them. Problem solved.

A friend dropped off a T410 system. Windows is flakey and locks up after about 5 minutes. Ran the HD test program in the BIOS. It finished but gave me a bunch of 0000 Read verification errors though the controller tested fine. What I'd like to do is format the Windows partition and re-install. But I don't have Windows disks (there is a COA sticker for Windows 7 Home Premium 64). Can I build a set of recovery disks from this system? Even if Windows won't run? Any info would be a great help. Thanks.

Trying to install SP1 for Windows 7 x64 and each time after it reboots the PC during installation the SP installation reverts itself due to a failure.  Once I'm allowed to log in I get a windows saying Installation was not successful with an unspecified error and an error code: E_FAIL(0x80004005).  The PC hasn't even been configured yet and I'm trying to do the installation from the factory image.  I have tried installing it through Windows update and from the standalone installation file from the microsoft download center.  Neither works and I get the same message.

Hello everybody, I am trying to set up the bluetooth to work on Windows 8. Funnily enough everything went smooth with Ubuntu 14.04.So I am 100% sure this laptop has bluetooth hardware. Still, on the support website there is driver for bluetooth. It says it should be included in Windows 8 but I can't find it.Nor I can find the proper device in my control panel. Any hint? Thank you all.

Answer:T410 2537 NQ6 bluetooth under Windows 8

Hello, Are you sure Windows 8 didn't install its native Bluetooth drivers? I've never had any problems with Bluetoothinstallation on any ThinkPads when either clean installing or upgrading to Windows 8. If you have the Thinkpad Hotkey Features Integration package installed, you can press FN+F5 to open upyour WiFi-Bluetooth window and enable the Bluetooth there. If not, the package is here: Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 8 See if this doesn't resolve the issue. Cheers.

First it seems you cannot buy an XP downgraded machine directly from Lenovo anymore, even from the business portal (this is for business use). Can anyone confirm this ? Our company hasn't bought from lenovo directly before. We have always bought from DELL but have had some problems with them recently. I suspect that Lenevo is still delivering XP machines to certain clients. Second, I found many resellers with XP downgraded T410's available and decided on a T410 25148JU (available from 90 sellers on shopping.google.com). Can anyone confirm that, for this exact model, that the machine comes with XP installed (Rather than with Windows 7 and rights/or CD's for XP-pro). I don't want to spend hours having to reinstall XP and all the drivers; I want XP ready to go.

I have installed on my Thinkpad T410 (MIM: 2522AR3) Windows 10 PRO 32 bits and works fine. I need to upgrade from Windows 10 32 bits to 64 bits and I follow all the Microsoft steps in order to do a clean installation of the 64 bits version. I generate the ISO image on an USB stick in order to boot the notebook with this USB stick. Up to this point all works fine. The problem starts when I want to boot with the 64 bits ISO on my USB stick. The installation begin but some minutes after, the notebook shut down and  start booting again and again, until I disconnect the USB stick. I recieved no messagges. So, I can not install the 64 bits Windows 10 version. Some of you experienced the same problem? It is possible to install Windows 10 64 bits versiķn on a T410?  I will thanks a lot your comments and/or recommendations. Thanks in advance and have a nice day!!

Answer:Thinkpad T410 and Windows 10 64 bits.

Try booting the computer using the USB stick, then once it boots then remove the USB stick, and let the install take place.  My guess is during the install the computer reboots at some point and with the USB stick still in the machine it boots to it first and keeps rebooting automatically as a result.  I seem to recall a time given before the system restarts if no selection is made.

I upgraded my Lenovo T410 to Windows 10 Pro yesterday and now want to turn on the Hyper-V feature. However, the Hyper-V Hypervisor checkbox in the Windows Features remains greyed out. When I try to enable it, Windows says, "Hyper-V cannot be installed: Virtualization support is disabled in the firmware."  I assume this is refering to the BIOS settings. However, in the BIOS (in the Config:CPU section)  I have enabled the only two settings related to virtualization:Intel Virtualization Technology: EnabledIntel VT-d Feature: Enabled I ran sysinternals coreinfo which reports:HYPERVISOR -  Hypervisor is presentVMX                 *  Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualizationEPT                  *  Supports Intel Extended Page Tables (SLAT) I am interpreting this to mean that everything is good from the BIOS/chip perspective and that the Hypervisor is simply not installed. The T410 is equipped with the following:Latest BIOS (v1.45) for the T410.Intel iCore 5 M540 cpu4GB RAMIs anyone else having trouble getting Hyper-V to install on Windows 10 Pro/Enterprise? Is there any command line tool that I can use to tell Windows so that it realizes that the chipset supports virtualization? thanks

Good afternoon all, While I have researched the heck out of this issue I have not been able to come up with anything useful. I have been having this ongoing problem with my Lenovo T410 laptop and the battery charging above 74%. Sometimes the charging light will turn amber, sometimes it will stay green with a random quick flash here and there. I'm trying to determine for a fact if the battery I have is not functioning, or if it's something else causing it. Below are the steps I've taken to troubleshoot. Completely discharged battery and recharged with laptop off.Reseated battery, and attempted to remove dust from battery connection port.Checked Windows 10 registry for settings regarding charging actions at certain percentages.(This was initially upgraded to Win 10) - Fully remove Lenovo Power Manager from machine.Verify using HWInfo64 that it appears the battery health is good (can provide image if requested)Completely reformatted and fresh installed Windows 10There may be a step or two I have forgotten, but if someone asks I'll let you know if I did it or not. I would love to get this fixed as the laptop serves my purposes other than having a fully charged battery. If there's a surefire way to know factually if it's the battery, then I'll go ahead and replace it.Thanks all!!!

Answer:T410 (Windows 10) - Battery Not Charging Above 74%

Have you tried recalibrating the battery? Open Lenovo Power Manager -> switch to advanced -> Battery -> Battery Maintenance -> Perform Reset. It will take a lot of time to complete, don't remove AC power while this is running. Let it run while you are sleeping or something similar so that you won't have to interrupt the process.

I have a T410 with Windows 7 Professional which Microsoft invited to upgrade to Win 10. In "preparing" the computer for Win 10 a message indicated that some functions would not work. I did not realize that in taking the next step (whateve that was at the time) it would gto ahead with the upgrade. I found that the offer to choose "when" to upgrade was a choice of three different pre-assigned days. I had to turn off the computer to stop the upgrade, there was no other way (I tried Task Manager, Process Explorer, Alt F4, etc.). Now it is just reserved and waiting. My concerns are:      -will an upgrade result in a Windows 10 "Professional"? or will distinctions between "Home" and "Profesional" be lost?     -the preparation process indicated that Intel PROSet/ Wireless would have to be re-installed. As best as I can understand from the Intel site the wireless adaptor | Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN | in the T410 is not supported in Win 10. The Intel site said to go to the manufacturer. Will Lenovo have an update for this?     -Intel PROSet/Wireless may not be critical to me but a wireless driver will be. Will the T410 wireless function still function? Has anyone had experience with the T410 moving to Win 10? Thanks.

Answer:T410 RAM installed 4.00 GB but shows usable 3 GB - Windows 7 64 bit

Its dicated by hardware and each machine is different. There are reservered areas in some systems. Additionally all Intel GPU use memory from the DDR main memory pool and will lock that out from use. If you look down that road you'll likely see that and how much has be allocated. It can change with some GPU's which grab more on demand.

I have a dual screen setup for using Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 Professional. The monitors are HP L2045W. If I use either the generic device driver or the Windows Vista one (there is no Win 7 driver) then when I open a file in CS5, the file window is transparent. If I drag the window handle, then I see a preview of the image, but as soon as I release the window then it disappears again. CHanging the screen resolution and back again (currently 1600 x 1050 which is recommended for the 2045) temporarily fixes the problem, but then the issue appears again. I've only seen this with CS5 and no other application. Any ideas?

Please help??!!!!

Answer:Lenovo T410 not booting beyond Windows start up

Hi Charlierose,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

We understood that you are facing the issue with system No booting on your ThinkPad T410.
As you have mentioned that it is prompting for Original Disc I suggest you to take the data backup in other system before installation.

First check if the system is shipped with pre-loaded OS, if it is pre-loaded OS then you can perform system restore from Blue ThinkVantage button, which is available on your system next to power button.

If it is not pre-loaded then you have to contact the reseller for further assistance or you can purchase the recover disc from nearby authorized Lenovo service center.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

My t410 was running BIOS version 1.35, and I was trying to use it with 4 displays. After more than 10 hours of reading the knowledgebase, forums, and googling for help, I had come across many articles that probably would have held the solution except when I tried to do the steps involved there was always something that didn't work. So, I decided to flash update the bios to version 1.43 to see if that would fix the problem, and now whenever I power on the laptop, the bios loads, but then I get an error saying "ERROR 1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - power off and remove the miniPCI network card."So, 1) How do I solve the network card problem, and 2) How do I run more than 2 screens simultaneously. My machine type model is 25376T1Embedded controller version: 1.18 (I don't know what this is)My computer specs: i7 Core, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA 3100M Graphics (mostly integrated, some discrete graphics as well, I don't know how much of either).

Answer:Updated bios and t410 won't boot windows

Okay, so I am now aware that the problem with the network card was that it was not bought from Lenovo and only supported on the specific bios version 1.35. That problem is now solved, does anybody have any ideas for my second concern?

I've just bought a T410 with Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. Since this is a student program, I'm not able to choose the edition nor 64-bit of Windows for expanding my RAM to 8GB (4GB installed in one-slot).  Instead, the agent asked me to call lenovo for buying a 64-bit recovery disc which to be shipped in 2 weeks... Question 1)My machine has a "lenovo Enhanced Experience" sticker on that, I assume that it has the EE version of Win 7 pre-installed (even it doesn't mention in the leaflet).  Will the 64-bit recovery disc to be ordered with EE enabled (or should I say EE fine-tuned?  I guess it's a Windows tuning instead)?  I really like the way lenovo fine-tuned the machine, the performance is great and I want to preserve it  Question 2)I have a legal license of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and the clean disc from Microsoft MSDNAA.  Assume that my machine is now equipped with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, will it still preserve the "lenovo EE fine-tuning" if I use the MS disc to upgrade it into Professional? When I call lenovo and give them the product code(type number), they can tell whether my machine is EE enabled, they just said it depends if the EE sticker is found on the machine... Your reply is much appreicated, I'll wait before attempting to call back to lenovo for ordering the 64-bit disc...

Looking through my Add / Remove Programs list I noticed that I have the following two programs installed ie,Windows Media Player 11 & Windows Media Format 11 Runtime. I realise that I need WMP on my PC but both of these programs are the same in size ie 11.16MB.

My questions are " Do I need the both of them or are they just the same?".

I usually like to keep my media library properly tagged and arranged. And the best app to do so is MediaMonkey with some user created scripts. You can do the management in minutes what would otherwise take you hours on Windows Media Player.
But for Media Playback, i prefer WMP for the ease of use, and hence the need to keep the library in WMP properly indexed.
In Windows 7, probably due to the system wide library introduction (not to mention that it is afterall a beta!), sometimes WMP does not index your music library! I have faced this problem a few time as i manually delete the library when WMP wont update the tags i edited in MediaMoneky automatically.
So if WMP won't automatically index your library, here's what i do to fix the problem. 1. Open "Services" from the Start Menu / Control Panel, and stop the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service". 2. Now navigate to "%Userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player". 3. Delete all the "Windows Media Library (.wmdb)" types of file inside that folder. 4. Done! Now simply open WMP and it should start indexing your library again. UPDATE: You can also try out this ATS Fix from Microsoft mentioned below to let it fix the problem for you automatically.

HI I have a Lenovo T410 laptop, in which I have formatted my hard drive completely including all default drives. Now I have a single partition, when I try to install the windows 7 with the recovery CDs which  I have created when my laptop was working correctly. But it will boot with that DVD but stops at the screen "Loading Windows". Is there any settings I need to change before installing windows 7 to the bios or something. I tried with the other Windows 7 DVD from Microsoft MSDN, even though i am not successfull. Actually after deleted all the drives I have installed Windows XP and it was successful and when I try to install Windows 7 it is not going through. Please anyone suggest me any tips on how to install Windows 7 on my hard drive. Are there any other settings I need to chanage? Thanks.

Answer:Windows 7 Installation on my Formatted Drive in Lenovo T410

The recovery discs that you have created are not Windows Install Discs, which is how you are trying to use them. They are system restore disc. Generally speaking they will reimage your harddrive so that it is what it was when it left the factory. I believe to use those discs properly during boot you need to hit the F11 key to start the system restore tool. I believe after that you will be given the choice of what you want to do from there. I think you will need to do a full restore. Once it is done, your computer's harddrive will probably be partitioned the same way it was when it left the factory. You can use Windows to shrink the partition if you want to create other partitions on the drive.

Cause lenovo did not test or released all the compatible windows 10 drivers for the T410 yet.

But you can try to right click the BT driver from the device manager and choose Update Driver Software.

I own a Lenovo LapTop computor, Model 2537-BN7-4 Thinkpad T10 that had Windows 7 on it that I upgraded to Windows 10 this afternoon. After the installation of Windows 10 was complete, I selected to continue to use Chrome for my internet browser, after which the mouse froze on the chrome setup welcome.html. How do I go about fixing thiis so that I can unfreeze my computor? I am forced to send this message from my older computor with windows XP version, as my laptop is frozen. How do I force the laptop to close, as the system is currently frozen?

Answer:How to unfreeze a T410 Laptop after windows 10 stopped working

Hi teecal,Welcome to Lenovo Community,  As you mentioned you just did upgrade to Windows 10. Normally after upgrading to Windows 10 the Windows start to recognize all the hardware and drivers on your machine to upgrade them to the latest version. In this case at the first 1-2 days of upgrading you will be experiencing some minor issue with the machine. So, it is better to just restart the machine and make sure it is connected to the Internet and just leave it for 24 hours and let all the update will be done.  Regards, **If the issue has been resolved please, mark me as solution provided to help others find the solution easily and click the Kudos.**

Hi guys, hope you can assist me with this. I have a really strange behavour, I must say... I received a T410 and worked two days on it. From one office I moved to another location and worked for some hours. After lunch I started the machine again, but neither touchpad nor keyboard is working. If I connect a pointer via USB on the machine the pointer is working, keyboard unfortunately not. Ok. Admins installed it new. I worked one day, next morning same issue. Well, back to admins, reinstallation completed. Again for two days I could work without any problem. So as it happened the third time admins decided to provide me a new hardware: I received a T420. I have been working with this one week without any error. During christmas I took the notebook home. I had been working with it for one hour. I used a USB-to-bluetooth wireless pointer. No problems so far.I got back in the office this morning an guess what?!?!?! Same problem as for the T410: Windows is starting up but touchpad and kayboard is not working at all! What did I? In my opinion nothing special:1) Started up machine2) Added pointer3) Connected via WLAN to network at home (settings for Home-Network applying)4) Packed the notebook into my suitcase and took the flight.5) Back at the office connected via LAN to network, connected via VGA to monitor, added usb-keyboard, added pointer. What can this be? I mean I'm able to destroy to different machines! Only common is Windows 7 and T4xx series..... Read more

Yeah! Found ound myself!  The issue is that I changed the setting from my mouse in the control panel. I received a message asking me about deinstalling the driver for the touchpad. I clicked on "Yes" and after restard it is blocked. A buddy had the same issue as he changed the setting to switch of touchpad. I reinstalled the driver, now I do not get the message any more and I can change my settings. After reboot still working.

Hi, We are configuring a T410 2518-C3U with our own XP image. We have two unknown devices left. One is a PCI device VEN_1180 DEV_E230. Google shows this is a Ricoh card reader. The two Ricoh card reader drivers on the website seem to be for USB devices and as a result don't apply. Technical support was only able to point to article MIGR_72586, but that does not list T410 devices. The second one is a USB device: usb\vid_147e&PID_2016That seems to be the fingerprint co-processor. We installed the one driver that is shown in the T410 list as being related to the security suite. Any tips welcome! TxBas

Hi, is anyone else experiencing daily video accelerator crashing on T410 Windows 10?  I have two units and they both crash after resuming the display after auto screen turn off.  I have tried all the suggestions online from all over the web and nothing works.  I hope that Lenovo will do something about this.  Or, does anyone know how to stop this annoyance?  Many thanks.

Answer:T410 Windows 10 Intel Video Driver Crashing

Welcome Gigglez

1. Is your T410 comes with only Intel GPU or both Intel / NVIDIA Optimus?

2. Is your existing drivers installed automatically by Windows or is it downloaded and installed from Lenovo Support?3. You could download and install a newer version of Intel HD Drivers*. Download and install NVIDIA driver also if it comes with it.*As T410 is already more than 5 years old, Intel and Lenovo may not provide supports and newer drivers to match newer version of Windows. If this 3 steps does not resolve your problem, you may have to revert your T410 to Windows 7.

Has anyone been successful getting Bitlocker to work in a no touch scenario?  Here is my process and it is flawed. New notebooks are shipped with the security chip in an Inactive state.  The security chip is changed to Active and the machine is imaged.  After the machine has booted for the first time the TPM is initialized using the EnableBitlocker.vbs script from Microsoft.  This is where I have a problem.  After the TPM is initialized, the machine shuts down.  It needs to be powered back on and the F10 key needs to confirm a change to the TPM, even though it has already been set to Active prior to initializing it in Windows.  After F10 confirms the change, the drive does not start to encrypt automatically. If the machine is imaged again and goes through the same exact process, it will complete without any user interaction and the drive will start to encrypt automatically.  This is because the TPM has already gone through the F10 confirmation.  What are your thoughts?  Is there a way to receive notebooks from Lenovo with a TPM in a ready state?  We are trying to deploy 250 notebooks with Bitlocker encryption and need to have a process that will work smoothly.  Thank you

Answer:T410/T410S/T510 - Windows 7 & Bitlocker process

Same here! I am already in touch with Lenovo and they pointed me towards this: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-68488 I can successfully change the SecurityChip mode from Inactive to Active or Disabled, whatever I want, but this doesn't change the fact that I still have to hit F10 once I turn Bitlocker on via manage-bde -tpm -turnon, which is still neccessary, although TPM is in an active state! I'm still in an PoC phase, but if this works, I'm going to deploy this to about 5000 notebooks, so hitting F10 during every installation is no option. Anyone with a solution? Btw, I'm working on an R500! ThanksDavid

Windows 10 is not officially supported on your T410, but for any chance of this to work you need to be using ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software version 6.0 (not 5.9.9)

After installing this version, you may need to delete all your fingerprints and enroll them again.

My system is 2 weeks old.  This Friday it started exhibiting unacceptable behavior.  After resuming from hibernate on 2518-AJU (i5, Optimus graphics, bios 1.34) I get a black screen entitled "windows resume loader" which says "The last attempt to resume the system from its previous location failed.  Attempt to resume again".  There are two choices: "continue with system resume" or "delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu".  The behavior after choosing "continue with system resume" is inconsistent.   Sometimes it resumes fine, other times it proceeds to system boot menu and will only boot in safe mode, sometimes it boots fine from the boot menu.  This occurs after the system has been in hibernate mode for ~15 minutes or more. Installed an addition 4mb RAM for a total of 6mb.  The behavior started 8 days after the memory upgrade so I do not think it can be traced to the new memory. I ran a complete system diagnostics test, disabled the optimus graphics, disable AMT, disabled hibernation - rebooted and enabled hibernation. Any idea what is causing the resume failure in the first place? Thanks, Stu

I noticed in windows 7, when I try to resume from standby, it fails with a HDD user password set (the only one).  I set my system so I can swipe my finger to power on.  This much works.  When I press the power button, or swipe my finger when the system is in sleep, the system fans will power-on, and the HDD LED will momentarily blink, and the machine will act as if it is starting, but that fails.  The ring around the power-button continues to do its slow blink and the fans spin, but it never resumes. I've tried all the latest BIOS updates and drivers. I use an FDE HDD and it is useless without the password, so removing the password is NOT an option. Thanks.

Windows 7 drivers should work, but the applications asociated with the drivers (a.k.a "panel control") won't work. Officialy, Windows Server 2008 isn't supported by Lenovo. You can try to enter to Intel's site and checke there if they had published a working driver for your operative system. Best regards.

HiSo here is how I solved the integrated camera being not recognized/detected by Windows 10.- I went Into Device Manager, uninstalled the unrecognized USB device.- Shut down the laptop. Removed the battery.- Pry out the plastic frame surrounding the screen to uncover the camera.- Remove the two screws retaining the camera and unplug it.- put back the battery and wait for Windows to load and log in as usual.- wait for all drivers and programs to load normally.- plug the camera back in.- you'll normally hear Windows detecting a new device and will automatically install it. Check your device manager for an imaging device. You should see an imaging device in the list.- to test if it's working properly, you can use Skype and see if it detects the camera in the video settings.

Reinstalling a Thinkpad T410 Windows 7 Pro 64bit:  all is fine through Windows 7 SP1,  then all Thinkpad (Thinkvantage) drivers and then all the Windows security patches (to October 2013).HOWEVER loading some optional windows updates ( Bluetooth), or Windows .Net, or some of the other optional updates result in -get this- any keyboard entry freezing the currently active application it is meant for.  All other applications open and work fine as long as only the mouse is used. A keyboard entry only freezes the application it is meant for.  I once succeeded in having Google respond by entering a VOICE search item, but could never cut and paste ( -> keyboard entry!) into a Google search or any application Some other clues: rolling back (windows restore points) sometimes but NOT always return to a machine in good status. And starting in safe mode, the problem disappears. I have not had the patience to figure out which service /driver is causing the keyboard glitch. Will be ignoring these optional updates for now, but it would be good to know the reason this is happening ( a strange combination of drivers / inappropriate order loading updates? )

In trying to fix some unrelated problems with a second hard drive, I used the Storage Manager in the Administrative Tools.  I accidentally marked the main user partition (C: drive) as active.  That in turn caused the hidden recovery partition to become unbootable.  The C: partition is not bootable, so now all that happens is a "Boot loader missing" message. I plugged the hard drive into an old XP Pro system, but there was no way to either mark the hidden partition as active (unknown partition type) or to specify the C: partition as inactive.  I was able to copy all the files off the C: partition so I assume the the Master Boot Record (MBR) is still OK, and possibly all that needs to be done is to mark the hidden partition as bootable.  Is there any easy way to try to do that?    If not, what are my options?  I'd like to end up with the system as it was originally.  Are the Windows 7 installation disks and the hidden partition installation disks available? Any suggestions will certainly be helpful.  Thanks.

Hello and welcome,

If you plug the drive into a Win 7 machine you can use DISKPART from the command line to set/reset the active flag - among other things.  Don't know if DISKPART is availabe in XP.  You might give it a try.

Otherwise, boot a Linux live CD or USB flash drive and use gParted or fdisk to do the job.

For me it seems, than Windows 10 Pro will work well (under the black desktop).I could see the Win10-Taskbar, Select Startmenu, Run Programs but complete Desktop will be black.Cursor will shown, called Windows-Programms are shown and working well on all 3 connected screen.I could even click somewhere on the black area, where my desktop icons should be, I could start programs from the desktop too.If I switch the Windows-Design to other designs or other backgrounds, I could see the selected picture for half a second but then it will be immediately "overdrawn" by the black background ??? If I disable T410-LCD and use only my 2 by docking station connected external monitor, the Windows 10 Desktopbackground will be handled normal, without any problems. Probably someone will have a solution for me.Thanks in advance.dm01
