I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My pc isn't registering a battery is present. This is causing the battery light to continuously flash orange. If I remove the charger cable when the machine is on, it immediately cuts out.
I've run a system check (FN + power button) but there is no mention of a battery problem.
Other users report that a BIOS update has solved their battery issues. However, BIOS updates can only be installed if both charger is plugged in and battery is present. Catch 22.
Has anyone got any bright ideas?

I have a problem with charging my battery. I have Y530 and I have changed all the main board battery supplies and also the battery. However, while both plugged in and using the battery, the orange battery indicator starts to blink. The battery indicator of windows stays stable although it uses the battery. When the battery becomes empty, it is shuted down immediately. How can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Hi, my original Lenovo, Japan cell, 9-cell battery shows these data in linux upower utility:- 86% of designed capacity- 63% chargedIt was holding my computer 2-3 hours normally. Computer is bazar refurbished, probably new piece, never used, stored in a warehouse in a big company. Now X200 battery led started to blink orange, and batterry gives no power, voltage measured 0.02V. I tried also charging via X200 dock only, nothing happens. So I suspect this is internal battery electronics causing this. I have three 65W chargers, 2 docks. I found a video of some guy overriding internal electronics by short voltage pulse to the output terminal, but I don't want to dissasemble the battery. Questions:1. How can a utility in linux tell charge data, when battery is measured ~0V? Is there any background communication and data is taken from some system bus?2. Is there any power cycle limiting, how to get these data?3. Battery showed good health periodically during usage, even now @ 86% of designed capacity, this seems like early cutoff?4. What exactly does that orange led mean, how to get additional data?5. Why should a battery with good health, not over discharged, stop working? Thanks to everybody.

I am using a Thinkpad T61 and the battery light just recently started blinking orange while the battery is plugged in.  When I try to reset the battery, my system shuts down immediately.  The system also shuts down immediately when I unplug the charging cord.  The battery shows that I still have 100% charge on it though and the battery info shows 70 something percent of the original charge.  This problem has occurred all of a sudden since I was just on a trip in which I used the computer on battery life most of the time and had no issues.  Now all of a sudden I can not get any charge apparently.  This seems to be an unusual error and not just the battery discharging in the normal way.  My battery does not fall under the replacement issues in the stickied thread (FRU 42T5262), but there are a number of other posts within that thread that describe my exact issue as well.   There must be a problem with this battery series.

Hi,  My battery is fully charged but the battery light on the computer is blinking orange.  My x61 tells me that a battery error has occurred, the battery cannot be charged and that I must replace it.  This is odd, as the computer is barely more than a year old, and this should not happen to a battery so soon.  Is this potentially a software issue?  The night before this happened Vista had an automatic update and restarted; when I hibernated the computer and took it to work in the morning the error came up.  I'm not sure if there's a connection between the two events. Any ideas about what it could be and suggestions about what to do? Thanks very much.

Answer:Battery light blinking orange

Welcome to the forum! Your battery is defective and will damage the charging circuit on the motherboard if you keep on using it. This is NOT a software issue and should be taken seriously. You should check with Lenovo whether your battery is on the list of recalled ones. Good luck.

Last night I came home to find that the battery was blinking orange really really fast.  Normally it will blink orange slowly if it is running out of battery, but this was much faster.  Besides, the computer had been charging the whole time I was out.  In fact, it says my battery power is 100%.  I unplugged the AC/DC adapter to see if another outlet would help, but the computer instantly shut down without the power source.  I looked this up on the Lenovo website, but was unable to ascertain exactly what the problem was.  One possiblity was that the battery had overheated, so I shut the computer off for the whole day and then tried again, but still no luck. And I don't know if its related or not, but my computer was also running EXTREMELY slow all of a sudden.  And my web browser, when I opened it, only opened up into a tiny box in the corner of my screen.  I had to right click "maximize" to get it to be visible, and it still took 10 minutes to do that.  Now it seems to be running a lot faster, but the light is still blinking and the computer still shuts down instantly if unplugged.A virus scan didn't fix the problem either. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem??

Hi First post  My genuine battery is very tired and only works at 20% so I bought a new larger 9 cell battery from ebay. However whenever I put the battery in the orange charge light flased and power manager does not recognise the battery and just says error. However it still charges the old battery. I assume the replacement battery is at fault or is there something I can do on the software/firmware side to make the T43 recognise a non IBM battery? thanks

Answer:T43 orange blinking charge light on new battery

As far as I know there is no problem using generic batteries. As with any new battery, when first used it's best to plug it in the laptop and charge it with the laptop off for 12hrs. If it's then not recognized or won't hold a charge, the battery is bad. It's common for generic batteries for systems this old to have problems. Contact the seller and see what solutions they offer.  ps. if you imported this from asia and it wasn't through a major reputable distributor, you may have a blackmarket battery that hasn't been inspected and/or approved by RoHS or UL labs. Be very careful, some of these batteries have been known to start fires.

Hi, I have a y50-70 that has been working pretty smoothly for the last two years. I am studying abroad in Italy and was told that my charger should have a built in power adapter, however when plugging into the outlet via an outlet adapter it immediately made a popping sound and started smoking. The charger was a replacement which had been working fine for about a year in the states, but I just assumed that this one didn't have the built in adapter and I drew too much power and fried it. I ordered a new charger specified for my model from amazon Italy (with European plugs) in hopes that it would work....but no luck, and he charger is making a consistent soft hissing sound when plugged in. I am also getting a blinking orange battery light when plugged into the charger, but this is the only form of response I'm getting from my computer.  After reading around my best bet is that I've blown a fuse or fried the battery but I wanted to see if anyone had a more confident diagnosis before I go shooting in the dark. Any thoughts?  Thanks, sam

Hi, my laptop will charge ok when shut down but when running after a time, the battery light and the power light will start blinking orange and the battery wont charge and will run out with the adaptor connected. I have tried removing the battery and holding the power button then refitting. If the light is blinking, after the laptop shuts down/hibernates, I have to remove the power lead and then reconnect for it to charge correctly. Also when I run on ac power only with the battery removed, the laptop will after a while suddenly shut down. Any ideas how to correct these issues would be grately appreciated. Thanks in advance.Al

On a new laptop lenovo L520 (W7P-64b) the orange battery indicator is blinking while the battary is actually full.Power management says the battery is full showing 96 % in the large green battery icon on the task bar next to the power plug icon..The laptop is connected to AC power. The Windows icon on the taskbar shows a full battery and the power plug.Power management says the battery is charged and in a good condition and only 7 load cycles are counted. (but orange light is blinking) When disconnecting from power, the orange light still blinks, power management still shows a full battery (just removing the power plug icon)The windows icon switches to an empty battery icon. The laptop still works but after a few minutes it shuts down due to lack of power. (Note, not immediately) For other lenovo models I've seen similar issues suggesting old batteries or broken fuses. But when I shut down the computer, unplug power the light keeps blinking for a few seconds and that switches off.  When a restart a l few seconds later every thing is oke: battery full, green steady light etc.So, because a restart does not fix fuses or revives batteries I think it is a new issue. Please suggest what to do other than reboot. tia,Bert

hey bert520,would it possible for you to use your L520 with the battery only until it fully discharges? Once it has fully discharged, charge it back to full and during this point just charge it, do not use it.When it is completed, check if it still happens. Also could you go to http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-77172and download the latest Power Management software and drivers from here and do an update.

I have  T400 running XP Pro 32 bit that started acting up a couple days ago.  This machine is my daily use machine and spends a fair amount of time running on the battery and not plugged in.  A couple days ago after a day of having it in the docking station in my office I came home took it out of the case powered it up on battery power and it immediately beeped and put itself into hibernate mode.  The Lenovo power manager icon said the battery was at 98% and in good condition while the windows power meter was saying my battery was critically low.  I plugged it in and changed the windows setting so they couldn't shut down the machine. I then noticed that sometimes the Lenovo power manager icon would turn white with a red line though it saying there was an error. I downloaded the latest driver and there is no change. I've tested by running on batteries and the battery discharges as I would expect.  When I plug it back in sometimes it will charge and sometimes it wont.  If I turn it off and then plug it in the indicator will normally turn solid green and it charges. I don't have an additional battery available to test with so I'm hoping someone has ran into this before. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

Charging after plug in powersupply depends on the load capacity of the battery. If 98% or higher, the battery will not be charged if computer is running.

Hi, My laptop (t400 2764 on Win 7 x64) is just under 2 years old and the battery (6 cell) was surviving adequately (still getting a good 2.5 hours of life out of it) before this happened. One day the orange light started blinking and windows told me the battery had failed due to normal use.  When I look at other posts for this same message they claim huge numbers of charge cycles before their failed but mine are minimal don't remember the number off hand. I've upgraded to the newest power manager and attempted to reset the battery but when I do that the computer just shuts off (likely cause it tries to run off the battery).  Similarly if I unplug it it just dies obviously since the battery isn't communicating.  That said the battery still has 96% charge and is bright green and in the lenovo power manager has the condition as good. All these conflicting signs make me very wary of just buying a new battery since they cost a small fortune (150 plus tax and shipping is about a quarter or what I paid for the machine!) for a lenovo brand one. Is there a way of resetting the battery other than through the power manager?  What are the chances it's a motherboard issue as opposed to the battery?  It just seems really odd that it would go from working fine to dead in a split second.  I'd try the battery in another t400 or another t400 in my laptop but don't know anyone else who has one. Any help would be much appreciated. ... 2 years on a battery might seem like not a long time, but at our organization, it's normal. Especially on the T61w/T400 6 cell batteries - they seem to fail with no explanation. Unless somebody else has a suggestion, in my finding, you will need to replace your battery, despite what you may or may not be seeing in the Power Manager.

Hello, Thanks for your  quick response  I have a fairly new T410 2252 series laptop and i was able to use/charge on regular basis. Last night i let the battery draincompletely and it turned off itself. Now I am unable to charge it back. i remove the batter pack and tried to use it directly with powersupply, even than it doesn't turn on. Is there any sequence that I should try to reset the battery? Your help is much appreciated.

Answer:T410 unable to charge battery blinking orange light

You can try resetting the battery gauge  in Power Manager. Control Panel > System and Security > Lenovo - Power ControlsBattery Tab > Battery Maintenance button > Perform Reset You will need to leave your laptop plugged in during the reset and avoid using it. The whole process can take several hours depending on your battery size.

The battery light on my Latitude 7370 started to flash in orange and the laptop is not using the battery. It does not start when the AC is not plugged, and shuts down immediately after the AC is unplugged. However, the Dell online diagnostic test for battery passes it as working OK (the test for motherboards also passes). In BIOS, I can see the battery as 100% charged; however it also says "Health: Communication Error". A week ago the battery still had enough charge for up to 5 hours of office work. I have tried to unplug the battery, start the laptop without it, and then plug the battery back. I have also tried unplugging and plugging back the CMOS battery. Neither of these helped at all. I have been using the laptop with WD15. The behavior persists on 2 different WD15 units as well as on the default AC charger.

Hi,

I'm trying to help a friend resolve a problem with her Satellite L850-1D5.

Windows is reporting no battery detected, and the battery light on the front of the machine is blinking very slowly orange.

I've seen a couple of forums suggesting removing the power and battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds. I've tried this a few times and it doesn't seem to have had any affect.

Is there anything that can be done, or is the battery broken for good?

Thanks,

My english isn't very well. Please pardon me if there's any inaccurate expression.

It seems that I left my T43 running last night, and it shut down after the battery completely ran out.
(I turned off the critically low battery alarm several days before because I didn't think this would cause such a  serious problem.)

Now the Power Manager says the battery is "in good condition", but the status is "No Activity", remaining power is 1%.

The computer won't start if it's not plugged to AC adaptor even with the battery attached.

I tried to shutdown or restart the computer and detach/reattach the battery for many times, but nothing changed. The batt indicator is still blinking fast, and it doesn't charge.

Some people say this is because the over-discharging protection is activated.
I think this "protection" is rather stupid, is there any way for me to fix it myself?

thanks a lot.

Hi. I bought myself a Lenovo 3000 N200 (Model 0769) and it has worked great. Only thing that have annoyed me was that it seems like it will not charge when AC is in and the laptop is on. Vista and OpenSUSE just says that it's plugged in. Wish I could make it charge even when it's on. Anyway. Today, when I was starting to work on an essay that's due tomorrow I noticed that the battery LED blinked orange when I inserted the AC. I didn't know what to make out of it but I turned it off, removed the AC and searched the web. I found a thread where it said I should remove the battery (here). So I did. And now I don't really know what to do. I've read the two stickies but both refers only to Lenovo 3000 N100 and it also had a different number on the battery than what I do. I'll keep working on the essay, but without the battery in. Hope this isn't a bad idea.

When Battery Status Indicator turns orange (20% battery) the Yoga 13 becomes very slow The trackpad stops working, and the laptop in desktop mode becomes unusable. The volume also is turned down to 0, the volume status window is always present in the top left of the screen and even if I use the keyboard buttons to increase the volume, the laptop immediately reduces the volume again to 0 within about a second. Interestingly using the Windows Metro screen and the touch screen, most of the Windows Apps are okay, but not all touchscreen functions work, for example swiping the screen to get the charms menu does not work. I have tried disabling the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal framework in the BIOS and uninstalling the Intel Dynamic framework drivers but it has made no difference. Any ideas ?In its current state the laptop may as well turn itself off at 20% battery  ThanksKevin

I just replaced the battery in my Inspiron B120.  I was told to condition the battery by letting it run out and then charging it fully three times.  On the second time of charging it I noticed the battery light starting rapidly flashing orange while it was still plugged in.  It was solid green to begin with (per the manual), then flashing green (also per the manual), but then started flashing orange.  I unplugged it and it stopped.  It had charged the battery to 98% when I turned the computer on, so it seems that it's properly charging.  I never had the orange light come on with my first battery, this is completely new and I have not been able to find any answer to why it's doing it.  The manual indicates that it should flash orange when the battery is low and not plugged in.  For me, the computer is plugged in and charging and the orange light comes on.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is there something wrong with the new battery I bought?

Answer:Flashing orange battery light

I had the same issue.  Upon booting my computer I got a message saying the battery was no longer charging so I needed to update the bios driver.  I did that and it started charging again.  Google bios driver update for whichever your computer model and download the update.  After you run it and accept the terms of service, it will update automatically and you should be able to charge again.  I know this is six years old but this info is for anyone who is currently having this issue.  You may not need to replace the battery at all as I thought I might have to.

I have a Lenovo IBM Thinkpad T60p and I just purchased a legit 9 cell Lithium Battery, everything was working great this whole week, I charge it to 100% then let it drained all the way and plug in back the adapter. Though when I charge it for the full 3 hours, it works and lasts for at least 2 hours, but the physical light even on the laptop is still an orange battery that blinks occasionally.I am aware that Lenovo has always had some issues with the battery when it comes to the Thinkpads like this one.. so am I out of luck.. or is there hope to have this fixed? Hopefully it's just a bug..!

Answer:Orange Low Battery Light is stuck

I used to have a problem like this - the charging led reading incorrectly (can't remember the time left message said) , it was still under warrantee and they talked about updating the bios. It looked too complicated to do that, so I didn't. a couple of years later it sorted itself out. Don't suppose that is any help to you...sorry I can't be more helpful.sarah

Product informationLess than week old Lenovo T430S6cell LI Battery T81+Microsoft Windows 8 64bit Issue After working for multiple days, the battery decided to stop charging yesterday. Upon loading the desktop, I get this error message.  I Googled this issue and found that other people have had similar problems. Some of the solutions I tried (and did not work) are: Reinstalling Lenovo Power ManagerUninstalling  Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method BatteryRemoving the battery and putting it back in  As it stands, the battery menu says "Plugged in, not charging" and is stuck at 84%.  If anyone could give me other ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. I am assuming it's not a hardware issue as the battery is brand new and was working just fine a few days ago.

Answer:Brand New T430s: A battery error has occurred. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery.

Not sure if there's any known quirks with that combination of hardware and software, but it sounds to me like the battery had a spontaneous failure, in which case you should just get it replaced under warranty.

Hello,
As of today my XPS 13 started to behave in a very strange way.It only boots and works when it's plugged in to a charger, and it doesn't seem to charge the batter at all while it's plugged it, which is stuck at ~48%. When I plug it out, it power off immediately and I have to plug it back in to be able to boot up. Additionally to that, the light indicator below the touchpad is bliking rapidly with an amber light (~3-4 blinks per second).
Any ideas of what might go wrong ?

Hello, the last weeks I am experiencing this problem.- The notebook turns on without any problems whether the battery is connected or not.- The battery seems to have a 2% charge (windows reports so)- If I remove the AC while battery is connected, computer looses power and turns off.- Last week Windows was reporting "not charging" while this week it reports as charging but the percentage is not increasing.- Whether the PC is on or off, the power LED shows up the same pattern. It is blinking orange and white non-stop.- Tried other solutions from this forum like removing battery and AC and pressing power button to drain all power, replugging the AC and battery, etc.- None of these solutions actually did not change anything.  HP G62-b95ev - Windows 7 x64

My Chromebook is really irritating me. I have barely used this and it is in mint condition. Now the battery light blinks even if I leave it plugged in overnight. The cable doesn't feel loose but I can't imagine the battery is shot because I never use it. Can anyone help me? I really don't want to write a scathing review on Amazon. Thank you, Jordan

My S10-3t (new almost exactly a year ago) is not booting. Please note that when I got it I upgraded the RAM to 2gb and the Hard Drive to a 500gb drive that has not failed me. I am using Linux, and threw out all the backup stuff, so that is not an option. The problem is that the battery indicator light is flashing orange and white at the same time (a mix of both colors), and it does this when the battery is in and out. The AC adapter works fine, since the netbook is getting power from it when the battery is out. If you need more info then tell me and I will provide it. TL;DR: The computer does not boot and my battery indicator light is flashing two colors at the same time, no matter if the battery is in or not. The problem is not with the AC adapter. EDIT: Update below.

Answer:S10-3t Battery light flashing White and Orange

Well, it was like this for a week. Now, after I got home from a movie, it was on (power light and battery indicator were solid white), but the screen was not on. So I took it partially apart (to the point I can access the connection between the sceen and MB), and tried again. It worked. I have no Idea what happend, but any suggestions would help future people with a similar problem.

My battery light on my computer is flashing orange, and when I unplug the computer it turns off.  Is the battery just plain broken or is there anything I can do about the problem?  It happened a year ago, and I just bought a new battery, but I'd hate to spend that much money every year.  Is this a common problem or could there be something wrong with my computer? Thanks.

Answer:Battery light indicater flashing orange...??

Which laptop do you have?  For the T61, flashing orange indicates a low battery and will continue to flash until it is fully charged.  Sometimes if your power management settings have been incorrectly set or get corrupted somehow, it might lead to the battery never charging.  First, check your power management settings and next, shut off the laptop entirely (don't use sleep mode) and leave it plugged in to charge until it is green.

Unfortunately I can't describe the problem properly because I keep having issues with the board's filter.

Short version:
I've got a Toshiba Satellite 2800-300 and since yesterday the battery light is flashing rapidly in orange. Faster than it usually does when the battery runs low. Changing battery, charger and socket didn't help. Has anyone encountered this problem before? What is it?

I've taken the battery out now and am running the laptop without it. Is that okay? I realize I have to go to the Service Center but that's no option right now so I just want to know what's going on and whether it's harmful to operate my laptop in this state.

Thanks.

Answer:Rapidly flashing orange battery light

Hi

First of all you can use your notebook without battery till you find the right solution for this issue. Believe me I do the same thing if I use my unit at home. I remove battery in hope that it can maybe save the battery life.

It is not easy to give some precise explanation on this way because it will be interesting to see what happened exactly but as far as I know if there is no possibility to start the unit and if the orange battery blinking it can be some hardware malfunction.

If there is an inordinate blinking there can be some hardware malfunction. If the power supply microcontroller detects an error the DC IN lamp sends a blinking code. Can you please tell me how it blinks exactly? Are there different intervals (short, long)?

Hi!
I have a Dell Inspiron 5758.  I've had it since October of 2015. I've never had a problem with the battery, I run it on AC power and battery pretty consistently.
Just yesterday, I noticed that the battery indicator light was rapidly flashing orange and the laptop also powers down when I unplug the AC adapter.
The battery icon says it's at 67% (plugged in, not charging). I ran a couple tests:
1. Diagnostic test on Dell.com, under Product Support. Just gave me a warning icon for battery.
2. Dell Power Manager says "Error" under battery health.
I was reading that sometimes a BIOS update can fix this? I'm just confused as I've owned a couple Dell computers in the past and have NEVER had this issue before.
I run Adobe programs quite often, so I'm wondering if this performance could drain the battery life?
Any insight is appreciated.

My battery (FRU: 42t4957) is stuck at 2% and refuses to charge:I kept it at 40-50% most of the time by changing battery threshold. Total cycle count was about 80 (84 now) first use date 2013-03.On Saturday I tried to run a "discharge-charge-discharge-charge" cycle (by watching some movies) to reset the gauge of my battery. During 2nd discharge my laptop hibernated due to low charge much earlier than expected, when I turned it on it showed that the max capacity is 28 Wh and the battery is in the "poor" condition.I tried to perform automatic gauge reset but didn't get much (29 Wh). I updated power manager and performed another automatic reset which failed too.So I tried to make a manual reset and left my laptop paying a movie for a night. On Monday I plugged my AC adapter in but found out that the battery won't charge: "a battery error has occurred the battery cannot be charged".I cleared residual capacitance by pushing the power button several times and reset the BIOS to defaults but got nothing. If this problem can't be sold I would like to know the reason of it to avoid such things in the future. While googling this forum I met contradictory opinions on battery reset: ones say that it's extremely harmful because battery "doesn't like" to be discharged to 0%, others say its harmless.

Hi everyone! Two days ago I've got a problem with my Lenovo S10-2 IdeaPad. The problem is that battery suddenly stopped working. When I'm trying to start my netbook just on battery nothing happens. No led lights, no fan sound, nothing. When I plug in AC adapter battery led light turns on for a moment on orange, then chanes to white and holds for 6 seconds, then blinks and holds white for other 6 seconds, then again for the third time and then turns off completely. When I press power on button with AC adapter pluged it and net book starts to boot, blinking with the same intervals for 3 times repeats.  My Windows XP shows seeing the battery, it shows 69% but I have suspicion that it isn't charging, cuz 2 days ago it was about 72%. I've googled for similar problems, tried to disable and uninstall Battery ACPI-compatible Microsoft manager. I tried to plug out AC adapter and battery and hold power button for 30 seconds, nothing helps. Any ideas that could help? They would be very much appreciated.

Dear all My battery pack (42T4506) has worked well for the last two years. Until last Thursday (13 May 2010), battery lifespan was degraded to 1.5h hours -- which was accetably to me. Last Friday (14 May 2010), when I was sitting in a train trying to restart my laptop, the battery symbol was blinking with message mentioned in the subject above -- and the battery refusing from being active (although 100% loaded). I wonder how such a sudden failure can occur -- IBM's thinkpad battery never failed like that... Would anyone mind me giving the full address of Lenovo support? Thanks Lukas

Battery#2 not present and the time of battery is lowered to the half and it restartes suddenly

Answer:Battery#2 not present and the time of battery is lowered to ...

That model can use a "battery slice" that hooks onto the docking port on the bottom and if installed that is battery #2. They are very rare but you can occasionally find them on eBay. When new if you have that thing and a regular battery you can get 8-10 hours of battery life. Since you do not have one, you have no battery #2. How old is the other battery? They do not last forever and eventually need replacement.

Answer:toshiba laptop battery light solid orange

Probably one of two things. If you have used the computer quite substantially over the two years.....then perhaps the battery's life is up and you need to replace it. The other thing that sometimes happens, is the DC charging unit stops functioning and requires replacement. I suspect the first, and the second would require taking it to a technician...both are gonna cost. Batteries are $85ish/model dependent here in Canada, not sure in the U.S. or elsewhere.

Last night, plugged my NINE-DAY-OLD Satellite A100-225 in, the lights were on, it was working fine.

This morning, woke up, lights had turned off, tried powering up, the battery light flashed on/off Orange.

Tried messing with the cable, plugging it in other sockets which I knew were working, to no avail.

Have tried booting without the battery in it, no success.

Unless there is a function somewhere which can prevent it booting, I don't know what to say. This computer is nine days old and I don't understand how something can just go wrong overnight.

Added info if needed - Computer was turned ON when I went to sleep, and was running Mozilla Firefox and WinAMP.

Answer:Satellite A100-225: battery light flash on/off orange

Hi

Maybe the unit goes automatically into the standby or hibernation mode?
On this unit the system automatic Standby/hibernation was reinstalled. This feature automatically shuts down the system when there is no input or hardware access for a time specified. You can specify the time and select either system standby or hibernation in the basic setup tab of the Toshiba power saver.

Furthermore if the battery LED flashes it means that the battery charge is low. The AC adaptor must be connected to recharge the battery.
If it?s not possible to charge the battery so there are several possibilities: The battery could be dead, the AC adaptor doesn?t work or there is something wrong with the notebook hardware.

Try to remove the battery for several time and then plug it in.

But according to your posting you have tried some procedure and it doesn?t work. So in my opinion you should ask the ASP in your country for the help.

Hello,

The battery light stays on Orange/Amber color and the battery symbol on my task bar constantly states "87% available (plugged in, charging)". I am constantly plugged in. If I take off the adapter, the computer will drop out immediately.

I tried a new original Toshiba "Li-ion Battery Pack" but I got the same problem. The only difference is that the battery symbol on my task bar constantly states "70% available (plugged in, charging)".

I checked the contacts from the battery and the computer, they look just fine.

What must I do?
Must I install Drivers? Or could it be the motherboard?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-683 ModelNo. PSAA9E

With kind regards,
Chris

Hi community I have a 3000 C200 that, until last week, was running perfectly. I shut it down fine one evening then when I returned to it, dead. When I press the power button, only the battery light illuminates. It flashes steadily red 5 times, then quickly orange once then red once, then repeats. There is no other signs of life. If I leave the machine plugged in overnight then try, the power light comes on and the fans spin up. This lasts for about half a second then it powers off. As background, I have never used the laptop on battery power, always the mains and as such I am on my 2nd or 3rd battery (last replaced over 2yrs ago) and my 2nd charger (also replaced 2-3yrs ago). I didn't have these symptoms when I have made replacements in the past. Any advice? I am thinking motherboard tba, but without checking the error code (Doctor Google was not much help!!) I don't want to throw money at it. Regards Paul

Hello. A few months ago I purchased a refurb T61.  I don't know the screen size at the moment.  The battery just died without warning. I assume that I need to purchase a new one.  Is this a common issue with IBM batteries?  The customer service said that it is not subject to a recall.  I was considering buying a refurb battery 9 cell, due to the price.  Do you think it is likely that it will konk out in 6 months? Also, in reading old threads about similar issues, people are talking about battery abuse.  What exactly is that?  What is the best way to use a battery in a lap top?  Should one remove it when it is plugged in?  And is it okay to install the battery while the computer is on and running?  Is there ever and issue of unplugging a computer that is on and with a battery in it and replugging it in in another socket?  etc. Thanks!

Answer:T61 (6464) Battery Not Charging and Orange Light Flashing

Hello,

All rechargeable batteries eventually fail, it's just a matter of when.  I believe the T61 was introduced in 2007, which means its likely the refurbished unit you purchased had a battery around five to six years old.

You can try purchasing a replacement battery from a third party, but make sure they are reputable and you get some kind of warranty in case it dies all of a sudden.  Counterfeit batteries are quite common, and unless you purchase a genuine battery from Lenovo it's something of a gamble.

I have always left batterys plugged into the notebook and let Lenovo's power management software manage the battery for me.

HP Pavilion laptop won't start. Charger plugged in, charging light turns white like supposed to but then immediately changes to a constant orange light. No blinking lights anywhere. I tried a hard reset by removing adapter, removing battery, holding power button for 30 seconds, putting battery back in, and then putting adapter back in. Same reoccurrence turning white to an immediate constant orange. I did notice however, when I left the adapter in and removed the battery pack the light was constant white like it usually is when my laptop works, but would not turn on. Is this a simple, "I need to buy a new battery" situation? I don't want to spend the money if it's something larger than that. Any help?

My battery light is flashing four times orange then once white.  It's showing "54% available (plugged in, not charging)".  When I remove the power supply the light keeps flashing and the computer enters power save mode like normal.
I thought my issue was with the batter so I bought a new one.  I switched them out and the battery light stays solid white and shows "63% available (plugged in, charging), but I left it for four hours and didn't charge at all.  And on this battery whenever I remove the power supply the computer immediately dies.
What is my issue and how do I fix it?

Hi I recently got a no battery detected message on my Dell Inspiron 17 5000 (5759)  also dell power manager lite started telling me "system will power down when ac adapter is unplugged" the battery charger light started flashing an orange light aswell but when I unplug the AC power the battery seems to work perfectly however the charging light still flashes orange I ran diagnostics from bios and other tools on dells website they all said that there is no problem.

Answer:No Battery Detected, Orange Flashing Charger Light ?

Hi DAVE23181,
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Does the adapter charge the battery fine when connected?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Has the battery been replaced since you got the system or is it still the same battery that was shipped with the machine?
It might be such that the battery might have reached the end of its rechargeable cycles, indicating the end of its durable life. I would suggest you to test with another battery and check.
You could contact our team to get a quote for a battery - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
Alternatively, order the battery here - http://bit.ly/2lKjitM

MY laptop is a HP Touchscreen. It is only 1 year old. The battery warranty just ran out. The red light constantly blinks, and the battery hold no charge, and will no longer charge. This was after it was always getting very warm. I had to purchase a stand that had three fans in it so that it would not shut itself down every hour. Since then it seemed to be working ok, however now I am getting emails to pay 120.00 for an extended plan, a battery costs 98.00 , and a new laptop with the same and better features only costs 249.00. Why have you made disposable laptops?? It is cheaper to buy a brand new one and use the new battery, and have an entire extra laptop. My Compaq overheated and I replaced the hard drive. That laptop was only 2 years old, and now it will not turn on either. I am out two laptops. I am not sure if my battery is on the recall however it seems to be fitting the bill. Can you please help me. What are the first steps that I need to take to answer the recall as I need this work conputer to run my small business assisting Veterans with business development and contracting with the Federal and State Government entities through the VOSB and SDVOSB programs.

My son's G505S was plugged into his monitor via the HDMI cable all night. He could not get it to respond this morning and said the orange battery light was blinking. He has complained that the battery life was poor. It was bought in July of 2014. Should he keep it plugged into via HDMI all night? Could it cause it to overheat?

Answer:G505S blinking battery light

hi hingram,

Welcome to the Forums.

If the G505s' battery is 100% charged and the machine was left ON while plugged-in to the external monitor via HDMI then it's likely that this caused the battery charge to drain.

If the machine was put to sleep or was turned off while plugged-in to the external monitor then this shouldn't drain the battery as the machine will not draw out power in this state.

In event that you see a fast blinking amber light then this indicates either a problem with the battery or the connection of the battery to the machine. To check, try reseating the battery and observe. In addition, you can also type powercfg /energy on an elevated command prompt to see what are the apps/devices that you can turn off to save battery life.

- G505s Battery Light Status Indicator (page 31 of the HMM).
- Use PowerCfg in Windows 7 to Evaluate Power Efficiency (works also in Win8/8.1)

As for keeping the HDMI plugged-in all night, this is fine and will not cause any overheating issue as long as the laptop is put to sleep or in a shutdown state.

Regards

Hello.  Hope  someone can help me. I have a K410 without the power control option.  So my chassis only has a power button and next to it a battery looking icon thingy and it is blinking white.  Very irratating and I can find no info on what it means or on how to to make it stop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Jasy

Answer:Blinking battery looking light K410

hi Jasy,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

You're probably referring to the HDD indicator light as it's the one near the power button

AFAIK, there's no separate function to turn off the HDD light indicator as this LED is soldered to the front panel cable which also contains the switch for the Power Button, thus, you will lose both the functionality of the Power Button and the HDD light indicator if this cable is removed from the motherboard.

From here, I think your only option would be just covering the HDD light indicator (ie. with a black tape) to make it stop.

Hi. My laptop have just been upgraded to Windows 10. After the update I realise that the battery percentage wont shows up. It will just remain unknown. After a couple of days, the battery light keep on blinking orange. Even when I shut down the power, it will kept on blinking. The worst part is when leave unplugged for some time (short period of time like 15 minutes), it will just blackout. It will turn off suddenly and when I pressed the on button, no battery low light will blink. It will just be nothing. This concerns me very much. I hope somebody can help me. Thank you in advanced.

I am using a G500s laptop and  it was having the following issues *laptop was not charging * both battery and power indicator keeps on blinking when the laptop is connected to power. Even when the laptop is switched off and when it is connected to a charger the power and power indicators are blinking. I gave my laptop for repair and they informed that they had replaced the motherboard and the laptop was working fine for 2 months. Again the same issue is happening. Please advise me what can be the issue?

I haven't changed anything or downloaded any new drivers etc. I have taken the battery off and put it back on again, restarted the laptop but makes no difference. Has anyone any ideas? Thanks

Hi

Welcome to the community.

As per your concern battery and mains light remains on, even after shutdown the system. I would suggest you to please update the Power Manager software and the Bios of your system from the below mentioned web link.

I have a T61, bought 10/07.  I got this message out of the blue after i unplugged my laptop and it shut itself off.  Only turns back on when plugged in.  The orange battery light is flashing despite it saying the battery is fully charged, i called lenovo and they said i need to purchace a new battery, since the 1 year warranty exprired just over one month ago (convenient for them).  I have searched and found that this is not a new problem with lenovo and that 2 sets of recalls on the t60 battery occured recently, but mine apparently does not quailfy for recall (already checked).   The battery info says its a sanyo battery with poor quality, 44 cycles, first used 10/07.I'm kind of peeved that i'm being told i need to buy a $115 battery just over a year after getting this computer, and believe lenovo should step up for clearly something being wrong with their system as i'm in good company of others with this problem. anyone have any ideas?  do i really need to purchase a new battery??thanks for any help

We are having issues with the batteries of Lenovo TP T61, T400. , we have replaced around 4 laptop batteries now. Is there any announcement  regarding this from Lenovo? Below is a recent message from one of a TP 61.   Power Manager error:A battery error has occured. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery. Regards

Answer:A battery error has occured. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery.

Are you using genuine Lenovo brand?  Is the power manager telling you when the manufacture date and cycle count are?  Try downloading the newest power manager from the website.

I have some T60 battery's here that cannot be charged. At the moment i have 5. One of those has just a cycle count of 51. The others have a cycle count of 113, 346, 481 and the last one sais "No battery installed". All those are between one and two years old. Is this normal for the T60 series that the battary dies that quick?  I've allready looked for the replacement program, but none of those battery's is in that range for replacement. I think the problem is that the laptop's where on stock for a month or 2 and they didn't removed the battery before placing it in stock. What can i do?

Answer:T60 - A battery error has occured. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery.

Hi Roman78, Wlcome to the forum! If the batteries do not fall under the recall you will have to buy some new ones. Most T60 batteries last a long time but some do die early. It happened to me too.Make sure from now on that the batteries are removed before going into storage. Running batteries completely dead is hard on them and there is always a little draw when they are connected.

I recently bought a *Toshiba Satellite C665 / 012* and when ever I attempt to charge it the _orange light will just stay on_ and when I do decide to unplug it the battery status stays at 99 % and does not depleat or increase_._

What could be wrong with it and will the warranty still cover it should I decide to return it

Answer:Satellite C665/012 Battery Charging light stays orange

Hi

In your case I recommend to calibrate the battery firstly.

You should discharge the battery until the notebook would shut down automatically. Note: save your work before notebook would power off!
Then leave the notebook connected to the AC adaptor for a longer period of time.
Usually the LED status should change to green (or blue depending on the notebook model).
Then discharge the battery once again. Repeat this procedure 3-4 times.

Hope this helps

I have a *Toshiba Satellite A665 / 012* and no matter what, the battery charging light will stay *{color:#000000}amber / orange{color}* and not turn green.
Powered it on and it displayed that it was charged 100 % so something is definitely wrong.

Can anyone help

Answer:Battery Charging light stays orange on Satellite A665/012

Hi

Did you calibrate the battery in the past?
Do this! This would improve the battery performance and the battery working time.

You have to discharge the battery completely until it would be fully empty.
Then charge the battery again. Repeat this procedure several times.
I think 3, 4 times would be enough.

After that check if the battery would reach the 100% and if the led would switch back to green.

I have an X31.  My laptop is behaving as though it is running on AC power when it is not (ie. Charge light is on, power management settings in windows recognizes it as running on AC power).  Battery will not recharge, though windows power management says it is recharging -- it does this regardless of whether the battery is in or not.  Eventually, the battery died completely and computer could no operate without AC (date an time settings would even reset when unplugged). On the advice of a computer repair store and forums with people of similar problems, I purchased a new battery.  This did not fix the problem.  The new battery is able to operate on what little power it holds from factory, but computer is still behaving as though it is plugged in when it is not.   If the battery is not the problem, what else could it be?  Worried about motherboard. Please advise. Kolyn

Answer:Battery/power issue (orange light stays on while not plugged in)

Welcome to the forum! The charging circuit on your machine's planar has been damaged. If you're handy enough, you can open up the machine and start looking for a blown fuse... As for date and time resetting, you need a new BIOS/CMOS battery, they're under $10 on eBay. If that fails to resolve the issue, you have another motherboard-related problem. Good luck.

What year did you purchase your X220? I bought units around OCT-DEC 2011, turned out 4 of the 10 I purchased had bad motherboards and had similar symptoms. Blinking power light though, no screen output.  Does your power light blink also? I would check with Lenovo support to see if your laptop is still under warranty.

My Compaq Presario c500 will not turn on when plugged int a/c power.  The indicator lights constantly blink or flicker,  If I unplug a/c and install a charged battery the indicator lights glow constant an the machine will boot on.  If I then plug in the a/c power, the machine will function properly as long as the battery has a charge.  The charge does not run down as fast when the a/c is plugged in as it does when operating on battery alone.  I have changed the hard drive, ram and power jack, checked for driver updates and current BIOS all to no avail.  Short of trashing the motherboard, is there anything else I can do to try to resolve this problem?  I have heard o several otters having the same problem wit their C500 and one person with the same or a similar problem with a Toshiba L305.

Answer:Compaq Presario c500 as, hhd, battery light blink constantly w/o good battery

Sounds like power supply is weak if it cant keep up with draw to keep laptop running. The boot with power supply attached and having problems sure sounds like a weak power supply. Do you have a meter available to measure the voltage under load to make sure its stabile and not pulsing or too low? Or a second power supply adapter to eliminate this?

Hi

I hope someone could help me with my problem.
My toshiba P200-1fc running Vista and updated to latest Bios will not show any light in the battery indicator led if running on battery power.
It's fine if i have it plugged into the mains.

I only updated the Bios to see if it sorted the problem .
The battery charges fine orange then blue to say fully charged but I only have the taskbar icon to see how much power is left.

Also the wife has got a U300 and the same problem has happend. I restored the laptop to a earlier time and this did not fix the problem.
I also unstalled some programs (antivius/firewall) but no joy.

It may be something simple i hope.
Thanks for any help

Answer:Satellite P200-1fc: battery led doesn't light if running on battery power

Sorry but you are completely wrong!!!

The battery LED doesn?t light if the AC adaptor was disconnected!!!

The battery LED shows only 2 signals; orange and blue (sometimes green on different models)

If the battery is not fully charged and the AC is connected the battery LED shows orange. If the battery is fully charged then the LED switches to blue (green)

Please don?t be mad at me but I think you should firstly check you user manual before posting some ?gossips? about any possible ?bugs??

Best regards and have a nice day dude ;)

So I reinstalled Vista the other day, and even before that a bit, my battery life was simply terrible. At one time, I was able to get 5 hours maximum. Now, I can (at max) get 2 hours and 15 minutes out of a 9 cell battery. There was a previous topic on this forum, but like many other topics in the Lenovo forums, the topic was deleted. Nearly everything that I've searched for regarding problems with my thinkpad, I have found a topic that linked here, but was since deleted. Very annoying.   So, I have power manager 2.41a. The battery is correctly listed,  (86 Wh Li-Ion). I powercycled it one night, and it changed to 3 hours, but it went back down to 2. I should be getting at least 5, but I've heard reports of people getting 10 hours. I'm no where near that! I'm on power saver setting, and my brightness is at about half. I have all the latest drivers, System Update didn't return anything.  Also, my switchable graphics has stopped working, as it has with plenty of other people. Any word on when a fix for this will be out? It's disappointing to spend $1400 on a laptop, only to have key features stop working. My first experience with Lenovo has not been a good one so far. I thought these things were supposed to be rock solid? That's why I bought it... the keyboard on this one sucks, it's matte instead of rubberized. It's plastic everywhere.... Why spend a premium on something that gets me the quality of an HP or a Dell? Why not spend half the price? &n... Read more

Answer:T400 Battery life very poor. 9 cell battery.

Okay, a couple of things. First to address your battery life. If you are using the latest ATI Switchable graphics drivers then do this: Start -> Run -> type 'MS Config' hit enter. Go to the start up tab and uncheck the following:  igfxpers.exe; igfxtray. For whatever reason, the new ATI switchable graphics driver when on integrated mode hangs the processor causing it to use 50% of the CPU resources. I found my power usage went from 14-16 watt draw back to 8-9w draw. Next for the switchable graphicsdo this: Lenovo just released Power Manager 2 on 1.5.09. So far, I didn't see it available on the Auto Update utility but I found it when browsing the downloads page. So me being OCD about having the latest versions of software/drivers, I decided to download it. After the install, I found that my switchable graphics wasn't in the left click menu as it always has been. I right clicked and did not see it there either. Remembering what I did for the clean install (I went back to factory install), I did the following steps.Restart computer -> go into BIOS and select Discrete graphics only. Let windows start and re-install the drivers. Did another restart to ensure functionality. Then I went back to the BIOS and selected Integrated only. I let windows start, and again it had to re-install the drivers. Once this was done, I entered the BIOS again and put the display to OS detect function and booted windows normally. Thinking I had it fixed, I left clicked on t... Read more

HP laptop 6830s, windows XP1) I had my laptop on standby and forgot to connect to the power source overnight.Next day I noticed the amber battery light flashing (checked the manual which said its because the battery reached a critically low level). I have turned on the laptop whilst on the AC source and is working fine. When I click on the icon it says:current power source= ACpowertotal battery remaining: 0%below this there is an icon of a battery with a red cross - when I click on that icon I get another window and it says power state is on line. Any suggestions?2) If this is an indication that the battery needs replacing, can I keep using the laptop with the AC source??

My T61p won't boot up. It's just sitting there with the AC Power light, orange Battery light (The battery light looks like it is being illuminated by both the green and orange LED at the same time) and Ultra Slim status light illuminated and they are blinking (so quickly turning off and then on - on for a second then off for a fraction of a second, etc.). Even with the battery removed the orange battery light is on, and even with the charger disconnected the AC Power light is on. I removed the keyboard and disconnected the motherboard backup battery, when doing so I noticed that the heatsink for the CPU etc. is slightly warm to the touch (not hot, but the CPU is obviously doing something as it's slightly warm). When I disconnect the motherboard battery and try to start the unit, the same 3 lights flash, but now at a much slower pace and flash 4 times only. If I push the power button again they then continuously flash at a slower pace. Any ideas?

Answer:T61p won't turn on - blinking AC Power, orange Battery and Ultra Slim status lights

Spoke to Lenovo this morning and they've got no idea, suspect the system board is faulty, but they can't confirm until they receive it. So it's going back under warranty (very glad to have gotten the 3 year extended warranty now).

Suddenly the battery has stopped working. The machine is clearly connected to it, because it can tell me what percentage of charge it is at, but when I unplug the power cord, it cuts all power immediately. The battery light is flashing orange, and the battery indicated says "86% disponible (conectado y sin cargarse)" ie: 86% availalable (connected and not charging). The computer is about 6 months old, and still within warranty. the only problem is that I bought it in Chile (hence the Spanish) but am currently living in the UK, and the UK tech support guy thinks I will have to send it to Chile Tech Support in order to get the problem fixed, but whenever I try to call Chile (over Skype) using the numbers provided on this page (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/feedback/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-76613), the calls never connect. So I can't get in contact with Chile support, and UK support thinks they will have to charge me if I send it to them, and searching for solutions to this problem, it seems like this battery failure problem is a long running issue? http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Legacy-ThinkPads-Z60-61-G40-41-A/Flashing-orange-battery-light-while-cha... What should I do with this otherwise great, new, laptop which cannoy be unplugged for even a second without powering off immediately?

Answer:Battery Not Powering Laptop in Z470, flashing orange light, not recharging.

Hi, I have faced this issue Previously with My G570 i recommend to try the below steps Method A: 1)Try to Unplug the Ac adapter & Charger then press and hold the Power botton for 20 Continues Sec's, 2)Reconnect both the AC&Battery and check if the same error is there "Plugged in not charging" Method B: 1)Check if you have the Energy Managment Application on your machine (If Yes try to uninstall it and reinstall it), (If No so you need to install it) 2)Open the app choose the option optime for battery health Note: That option will give the battery a long life by limiting the charging to be between 0-80% Method C: 1)Open the energy managment application and click on the Gear bottom between i&?. 2)Choose "Start" reset battery Guage. Note: that option will refresh your battery, this process might last upto 8 Hrs, make sure to keep your charger connected till the cycle is completed. 3)If all the above didn't work so you need to buy a new battery, Hope that any of those steps work.

hello, all... it is in yet another time of need that i turn to you ...my notebook (dell inspiron 1525, about 1 year old) started showing signs that its battery might be warn out - when it was not plugged in with its adapter, within a few minutes it would without warning go into sleep mode and upon trying to turn on, warn me that the battery was at a critical low...

now, today it had been on for a while in a summer-hot room and it was only when i tried to put it to sleep to ~reduce~ the burden on it, the battery light started flashing orange (the warning that your battery is in trouble, 4 times quick, 1 blue flash) and nothing - not turning it off, letting it cool, would make it stop
...it does come back on but i don't foolishly think it's going to last! the battery meter also says, instead of 100%, now 99% and will not go up... (my father's notebook battery meter is always stuck on ***74%*** even if allowed to charge, and it's been this way since turning it on for the first time... so i'm not sure what is causing that...)
the only time the orange light did go out was when i UNplugged the adapter but as soon as i plug it back in, that happens again ...and if i leave it unplugged for too long, the system will go to that critical low situation again and this time it won't be able to re-charge either. based on your experience and expertise, do you think the problem is most likely the battery (and/or the adapter cable? or the a/c connector port?) ne... Hello,
My XPS 13 started to act out pretty strange today. It seems like it doesn't not use battery at all, thus I can only boot it up when it's plugged to the charger. The battery indicator shows that it's NOT charging the battery, and it's stuck at 48%. When I disconnect it from the charger while it's running, it turns off immediately, and the only way to boot it up is to plug it back again. Additionally, the light indicator below the touchpad is blinking rapidly (~3-4 blinks per second) with amber light, both when I'm in OS as well as already on Dell splash screen during boot.
Any ideas on what might be going on ? I have bios 1.3.3 which I updated around April.

When I press the power button on my Aspire Ethos 8951g, the battery light blinks five times at a one second interval and nothing else happens. If I use the switch to disconnect the battery, the battery light does not blink and the computer will not boot. So far I've tried to do a power reset by using the switch to disconnect the integrated battery, removing the RAM, and holding the power button for 90 seconds. It had no effect.  I also bought a new AC adapter, which also had no efffect.  Does anyone know what the five flashes mean? I can't find it in any documentation. The battery life had been pretty good up until this point.

Answer:Aspire Ethos 8951g Blinking Battery Light - Won't ...

IllN,

Typically the blinking battery light means it has no charge. Here are a few things I can think of:

Purchasing a new charging adapter rules that out. (good job!)
Is the charging port connection snug, or is it loose at all? Can you still see the pin inside the port?
Purchase a new battery.
Mainboard could be bad.

I have an older SL510 laptop, which has been working very well. But recently the battery power was continuing to diminish until recently, it stopped holding a charge altogether. At this stage, the orange battery indicator started to blink continuously at a rapid rate. I am still able to power up the laptop with my power cord connected. Purchased a new battery to replace the old and assumed light would go to green after charging. Unfortunately, after several hours connected to the charger, the battery light continues its constant orange blinking. Went through the process of uninstalling the ACPI file as noted in another post. Followed these steps:1. Disconnect AC2. Shut down3. Remove battery4. Connect AC5. Startup6. Under the Batteries category, right-click all of Microsoft's ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, and select Uninstall (note that it is all right if you only have one).7. Shutdown8. Disconnect AC9. Insert battery10. Connect AC11. Restart your computerAfter completed this process, battery light continues to blink rapidly and battery doesn't seem to want to charge, or provide any indication that battery is inserted in computer. This happens whether I'm using either of the 2-power adapters I have for this laptop. What can I do to get this fixed??? Thank you in advance for any assistence provided!!!
