I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a T400 6475 laptop that ive used for quite awhile and i loved it. All of a sudden I boot it up and get the start screen and that's it. No beeps, hdd runs, dvd drive powers up, fan runs. Reseated memory, hdd, even cpu. So I'm assuming a corrupted bios or damaged mb. So, when i do a search here for T400 or 6475 tje search returns nothing. What is the procedure to recover frim a corrupt bios? I'm assuming its ctrl-some key, power on, with usb memory stick installed with simethong on it? Just need the info.

We are using a deployment system called SpecOps Deploy. This uses a Windows 8 based WinPE boot-image and network boot. The T400 boots just fine from the network, but fails with a BSOD when it tries to boot the winpe-image. The BSOD has different error-messages each time we try, but the one we get most often is: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM We have other T400 in our organization that dont have this problem. Seems it only affects the AM2 and AM3 Versions. Any help will be appreciated!

Answer:ThinkPad T400 (6475-FP1) - Can't turn off Bluetooth & Wireless problems

As far as bluetooth, Fn + F5 will let you turn off the radio. You can also go into the BIOS under security/I-O Port Access and disable it. As far as the 5100 wireless card, there is a note on the intel site that says this: "If your system had Windows 7 and Intel PROSet/Wireless Software installed prior to upgrading to Windows 8, then Intel PROSet/Wireless Software will not install the first time. You need to install Intel PROSet/Wireless Software a second time for it to install correctly." I would suggest the newest drivers from the Intel site. If you go here, they will make suggestions:http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/wireless

hey costin83,the Win 7 cd was it made through Rescue & Recovery or did you buy it on your own ?the T400 of yours, did it come with Win 7 or with Win XP ?If the Win7 cd is your own; try it on a a different computer and see if it works. It could be that the cd itself is damaged.

From the many T400's we have installed there are a few which cause blue screens while working. To us it seems something to do with the graphic adapter or driver or ?? Anyway, when we disable the power saving features to issue is gone..no matter how hard we stress the laptop..the problem has been gone. Are there any Windows 7 drivers available for the "USB Multimedia Audio Device" as found on an R700 with the Toshiba Hi-Speed Port Replicator II (PA3916U-1PRP)?

In "Devices and Printers" there is a device in the +Unspecified+ section refered to as a +USB Multimedia Audio Device+. Windows 7 can't find any drivers for it. Audio appears to work fine through the port replicator.

The only related issue I've seen is that sometimes, when I press the "eject" button, Windows complains a device is in use and the eject fails. This is very similar to the issue reported as "[R700 Undock from P3838 issue|http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/General-Troubleshooting/R700-Undock-from-P3838-issue/td-p/149453]".

In my case Windows doesn't tell me either the device in use or the application using it. I strongly suspect the audio device.

I haven't found a workaround so have to either manually eject it despite the failure or sleep it and then manually eject it. I haven't noticed either approach necessarily being better.

Hi all,
I am wondering how do I digitally sign my driver so that it can be installed on a Win7 Ultimate SP1 in a VMWare virtual machine. I have used Visual Studio 2013 to sign my driver and cat files using a certificate I obtained from GlobalSign. Both of these
files passed the signtool check, but when trying to install in this virtual machine it generates an error code 52.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hello, I've recently decided to go with Volume Licensing, so that we can deploy customized, fresh images of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, without any of the pre-installed OEM software utiltities. We decided to go with Lenovo ThnkCentre M93p's -- which came preloaded with Windows 7 Pro downgrades.. I've been trying to get everything sorted out with the drivers for this machine, and I've just about gotten everything sorted out now, except for these Lenovo ACPI drivers. I have an 'unknwon device' showing up in Device Manager, and the Hardware ID is: ACPI\LEN4001 - I can't seem to find any good drivers for this... Windows is up-to-date by the way, also.. I did find an older post in the community, from 2013, but the links were dead.. 'Page Not Found' ... I've tried 3 different drivers so far, to the point where I will probably have to redo the machine again now.. None of them have worked. I tried installing them using the Setup wizard, using Windows Driver Update 'Have Disk' etc., and stil no dice.. can anyone PLEASE help me? Thanks

Hello fellow forum members,
im having a problem with my asus eee pc 1201n with a running wind7 x32 bit.
I had to reinstall it due some technical issues and the most things run pretty smoothly.
The only problem Im having is, I can use my fn keys to change volume and stuff. So I searched for the driver I needed and tried to install it, but I failed.
It cant complete :-(
I tried it with admin modus, other windows version but it just wont work.
I hope you can help me to find a solution.
Best regards,

IIRC it's in a program called "Hotkey service" or "Hotkey Utility". Before you install the new one you're supposed to uninstall the old driver (or so I've heard)

Good day.

In my experience the Intel Active Management Technology and/or Management Engine packages supply drivers for these.

Checking here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t40...under the Chipset section, I don't see packages for Windows 10, though.

I have Toshiba satellite L300 upgraded from Vista to Windows7 which now freezes on windows welcome screen...only if the charger is plugged in at start-up. NO problems on battery alone. No problems in safe mode. If running on battery alone all is fine until plugging in charger and screen will freeze full blue, white, black or any colour screen. All indicator lights show normally but the only way out is a hard shutdown. The battery charges normally. Hi!
I'm not used to using Windows. Just for certain proprietary programs really.
Today I reinstalled XP SP3 on one of my machines.

I installed all my drivers except one. The device manager shows one unknown device that I can't figure out..

The hardware ID just says ACPI\AWY0001
No device ID or vendor ID..

A Google search brings up too much variable information to ascertain the issue. Anyone know what my mystery driver could be?

Screenshot attached may shed some light.

Thank you kindly.

I purchased Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from Lenovo and did a fresh install on my Y530. After adding every possible Windows 7 driver from http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=13 I still see one Unknown Device in the Device Manager. The device is identified as ACPI\VPC2004. I guess that's a power management device, and the driver's name is "ATK ACPI driver". I downloaded it from http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_2864.html . After installing the "ATK ACPI driver" I reboot and still see the unknown device, ACPI\VPC2004. Is there a driver that works for the ACPI\VPC2004 device?

Hi all, Perhaps someone can help with this puzzling problem. Just bought the T400 w/Win 7 64 bit from the Lenovo website. It is great except one thing.I have a Win2k T22 ThinkPad on the network with a parallel port HP laserjet 6L and a USB port HP DeskJet 970cxi. When I go to add a printer on the T400, Win7 searches the network and finds the printers. For the 6L it downloaded a driver and it works fine. For the 970cxi it tries to find a driver from MS website but can not find a driver. When I connect the970cxi printer directly to a USB port on the Win7 T400 it finds a driver and it works fine. But not over the network? Even after it found a driver when it was connected locally? On the network is a Debian Linux computer that can print to both printers. I turned on printer sharing on it. The T400 can find the printers on the Linux box and can print to both the 6L and 970cxi. I loaded VirtualBox on the T400 and then install Ubuntu Linux. The Ubunu Linux can find the printers and can print to both. Does anyone know what the heck is going on here? Why can't the T400 find a driver for the 970cxi printer but when it's connected directly it finds the printer driver and works? Is this a Win7 64 bit issue? No driver available?Communication problem w/printer?Buy a new printer and throw out a perfectly good printer? Thanks,Rich

Go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website. You will have to download and install an ActiveX "something" [I forget what they are called]. Then search for 970cxi. Download it and extract it. Then tell the "New Device Wizard" to install the driver you just downloaded.

Hi, I am cleaning and re-installing Windows XP on several laptops.I have an issue with 2 T400 laptops when trying to re-install WiFi driver. First, I used the same procedure on several Lenovo laptops (T61, T61p) and I didn't encounter any issue. The drivers I have downloaded are from Lenovo Website, using the full product identification. Before cleaning and re-installation, WiFi was working well. Here is how I proceed:- install Windows XP Pro SP2- install SP3- install Ethernet driver- install WiFi driver and there comes the issue. The installation goes OK but the WiFi connection is not present in the Network Connections window. The little light with the WiFi symbol is not light up. The manual switch on the front of the laptop is on (and the Bluetooth light is on).I tried Fn-F5 but no change.I tried to install Power Management, then WiFi driver, still not working.I tried the pruduct detection but it gave me the same driver. The file I downloaded is 7ywc54ww.exe. Do you have an idea on how I could do to solve that? Thank you.

Hi, I am having trouble installing the Intel Turbo Memory Driver. When starting the setup (after extracting), I get an error message saying that my system does not meet the minimum requirements. Is that more likely a software (missing drivers) or a hardware issue (my T400 does not support it)?Looking through the package information, I found that I need to find a IDE ATA/ATAPI controller in the device manager, but I can't find it. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've looked through a couple of threads and couldn't find anything. I have to add, I am running Windows 7 Pro. I would be very happy to get some support here. Thank you in advance for your help!

Answer:T400: unable to install Intel Turbo Memory Driver

I need to ask a basic question. Does your system have a turbo memory card installed? It is only an option on the T400. Many systems don't have the card. If you have the card, you would be getting "found new hardware" messages at every boot. If I were ordering a system, I wouldn't go out of my way to get the feature. I never found a noticable improvement.

Almost sounds like somewhere along the way when doing Windows Update it may have snuck a video card driver update in (never a good idea). Check your update history and see if there is one there, and if there is uninstall/rollback to the previous driver. Also if you didn't use it you can find links to the latest driver here,

This past week was looking for a Word doc which I had updated in Mar 2014. Found it in Word, clicked Open and got an error message that it couldn't be opened as it was corrupted. I clicked on Ok, which closed it, thinking I could find it again when I found something on web which explained what to do. (Never encountered this before). Went back in Word today to find it and searched but it is not there. Unfortunately, had no backup of it. I followed some threads and looked for it in Recycle Bin, Local->MS->Office-> Unsaved Files and a few other threads found on the web, but still not able to find it.

Any other ideas, would appreciate it. Or, if I need to supply any more info, let me know.

My sound card previously displayed in control panel/device manager as a conexant; I uninstalled the drivers and upon reboot and reinstall it now simply shows as "High Definition Audio Device." I didn't make note of the model # when it previously showed as Conexant, but when I went to their website it said they do not provide driver downloads by request of the PC manufacturers.

you did not say what the driver was for. and in the most resent past i downloaded a graphics driver from gigabyte. after that everything went south. i had to do a system restore and download the driver from ATI. also the instructions on how to load the driver. (the gigabyte driver didn't tell me it needed .NET 2.0 the ATI driver did.) the gigabyte driver didn't work the ATI one did.
just my 2 cents worth, read over the instructions on how to load the driver, before you load it. and get the driver from the device manufacturer

I manage the master XP image for our company and I have managed to keep 1 master image for every model of laptop hardware we have, from older P3's all the way to the T61's using the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC Hal.dll. During the sysprep process, the user would have the option to update the HAL to the ACPI Multiprocessor PC. Unfortunately, the new T400 and (W500's also) seem to be incompatibile with this HAL. On the sysprepped image, I get a black screen on initial boot-up. On reboot, I am asked if I want to start in safe mode. I also played around with the Standard PC HAL and it also exhibited the same problems. The only HALs that will work are the ACPI Uniprocessor PC HAL and ACPI Multiprocessor PC. Using either one of these HALs on my master image could be incompatibile with older hardware. I hate to have to move to maintaining two images. Anybody have any experience in getting the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC HAL working on these new Lenovo models? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

basically my problem is that I shifted from Windows 8 to Windows 7 and i can't find matching graphics card drivers,

I tried installing almost all the inter drivers out there, but non of them worked.

So i would be happy if someone could help me,
I need a standard VGA graphics adapter driver for windows 7 ultimate (32 bit)

Answer:Satellite C50-B-13T: Cannot find Win7 32-bit graphic card driver

Hi Emil

I?m really wondering why do you install 32bit version if 64bit version is fully supported and you can find all necessary drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba download page.
As you probably know 64bit version would be better due to general performance and RAM usage.

Can you please tell us which Intel GPU is in your machine? I cannot find exact model name. It must be integrated Intel GPU with shared memory.

Answer:Did I find the correct driver - Marvell Yukon-on OS Win7 64 bit

I don't know if that is the right one or not, but I'm fairly certain Windows 7 will autodetect that and it will work 'out of the box' so to speak.

Vista and 7 do a very good job with NIC drivers, its not like XP where you have to make sure you've got a NIC driver ready to go after the install.

Hi all, I've been running the RC for around 3 months now and love it. I didn't have any issues when I installed it. I added the drivers for my raid card when the select partition option came up, it installed them and away it went. Now that I'm trying to install the retail version it insists that my drivers are unsigned and that's the end of that. I've tried using the repair system work around to get the drivers loaded; but that option says that the drivers don't match my installed hardware. I'm using the exact same driver I used for the RC, on the same thumb drive in fact. Plus, Promise says they're signed. I know there isn't a problem with the raid card because I'm on the system now. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks.

Answer:Win7 x64 won't recognize my raid drivers as signed

Well, I got it about an hour after my post so I figured I'd report back in case anyone else has a Promise FastTrak 2650 and runs into the same issue. Even though I hadn't done it while installing the RC, I unplugged everything except for my keyboard and mouse. I switched over to a VGA cable as well. This time instead of pointing the install to the 64 bit drivers I just hit ok and let it look for its self. It loaded the 32 bit drivers, proceeded with the install and then somehow reconfigured its self with the proper drivers once Windows was up and running. As soon as I hit windows update it downloaded the very same x64 driver I was trying to install from my thumb drive and installed it just fine. So now its up and running perfectly. I thought letting it load a 32 bit driver would have hosed the install; but apparently I was wrong.

Answer:unable to find video driver...

You must post your operating system and model computer. The driver you are looking for is a Chipset driver that is specific to OS and model. If you have windows 10 installed on an older computer you might not not find win10 chipset drivers. Go to Dell Support, Drivers and downloads and let the scanner check your computer for drivers. You should get your drivers from dell especially if you have a laptop. Older laptops do not have Dell drivers for windows 10. You have to use the available windows 10 drivers from Windows Update.

I've had my notebook for nearly 2 years. It's only been several months when I've noticed that my keyboard wasn't functioning properly (e.g. "Delete" button pulls up calculator, types /N on memo pad, zooms the screen, and pulls up other windows... But doesn't actually work as a delete button). I've tried everything to fix the problem but it still presisted.I've recently decided to reformat the thing and everything starts working as normal. When I had to install a wifi driver, none of the ones I downloaded on this site works such as:Mediatek 802.11 wifi adapterRealtek Local Area Network (LAN) driverand many other drivers available on the site. The only wifi driver that works is Qualcomm Atheros QCA9000 series, and it turns out, my keyboard starts malfunctioning when I use this driver. So if I want my entire keyboard to function as normal (note: the only keys that work are the letters, numbers, shift, ctrl, and capslock... That's it), I need to uninstall the driver.I need help. I don't think I'm doing this right.

Answer:Unable to find working LAN driver

Hi: From reading other forum posts your notebook has the Qualcomm Atheros QCA wireless network adapter with bluetooth. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/14-d008au-driver-issues-on-wind... So the atheros wireless and bluetooth drivers are the only ones from your notebook's support page you should use for that wireless card. Now, you may want to install the AMD chipset drivers and restart the PC. Those provide drivers for the motherboard and are not included on your notebook's support page. You want the first file listed on the webpage http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2032 You may have to reinstall Windows 8.1 because if you have tried a bunch of different drivers, they may have corrupted the registry. You need the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) driver for the ethernet (wired network) adapter. If none of the above resolves the problem, you can safely assume the worst...hardware issue of some kind.

i recently bought a new computer os winxp home. to xfer files i networked the old comp os win98 using a linksys 10/100 lan card to the new comp, no problems.
the plan for the old machine was to use it as a work station for the kids. i formatted the old machine and reloaded win 98 and pulled and reset the lan card. the old sys recognised the 'new hardware' and comenced to ask for the drivers with the wizard but after looking in drive 'a' was unable to find the drivers. following the lan card install manual i accomplished all troubleshooting instructions and tried to reinstall but kept ending up at unable to find drivers.

Hello.

Here's a problem I got with the Onboard intel graphics driver.

After installing it, w7 won't boot. It loads the windows logo but freezes and won't load the os.
The only way to make it work is restoring, and obviously getting the said graphic driver deleted.

I've tried changing some UEFI (bios) settings, but nothings worked. Also btw, the system only works with the hard disk set on ide and it doesn't work using AHCI (the one that comes by default)

I've also tried installing Win8, but things went even worse, as I didn't even get the chance to boot w8 after installing the SO.
So that I had to come back to Win7 but unfortunately just with the standard vga driver-

I ran out of ideas, I have no clue what's preventing me from booting after installing the Intel graphics driver.

Could be that the driver got some kind of bug that the company would need to fix and update ?

The motherboard is an Asrock H61M-DG3USB3

HD Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA3, although the mb has got only sata2.

the processor is an Intel G2020 ivy.

Any help would be appreciated Thanks

Answer:Unable to boot Win7 after installing OnBoard Gfx driver

If Windows was installed in IDE Mode you have to do a registry edit to switch to AHCI after the fact.
AHCI : Enable in Windows 7 / Vista
If you press F8 at the correct time during boot up you should get the safe mode etc boot menu. Amongst those options is a Enable low resolution video (640x480), try that and if it doesn't work try safe mode.
Safe Mode

But I checked drivers available for all L850 series and I found AMD display drivers.

You should do this too?. Choose Satellite L850 series (in short model no choose All) in the driver download form and you will get all available drivers for Win 7 and Win 8
The AMD display drivers should be listed too.,.

Hi,

I have an old Toshiba Satellite laptop running Vista Home Edition.
I should like to downgrade this machine to run with the XP OS.

I have a genuine, but rather old, Windows XP Pro CD with SP1. I also have downloads of XP Sp2 and SP3.
I have searched the web and understand that I need to download the latest XP9 Intel (Matrix) Storage Manager Support

I have visited that webpage and successfully downloaded the appropriate XP drivers for the laptop.

However, I am unable to find (or identify) the appropriate Chipset sub-folder of the F6flpy directory, which I

Good day. Recently I installed Windows 10 Pro on my sisters HP Compaq dc5800 Small Form Factor PC. The specification of the PC is available in the link below:
http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review.../225069/specs/

Originally it came with Windows XP (downgraded from Windows Vista). I decided to install my unused Windows 7 Ultimate licence, then upgraded it to Windows 10 Pro (before the offer for free upgrade to Windows 10 expired).

The Windows 10 installed all the hardware's' drivers, except 281e103c&rev_02. Do you have any idea where can I get the driver for Windows 10? I tried to google the '281e103c&rev_02' keyword, but unfortunately only 3 repated pages appears. The first one only provide the driver for Windows 7. The second one has too many list and I'm not sure which one to choose. The third one is not in English (or any other language that I understand ).

Please advise where can I get the driver for Windows 10.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Answer:Unable to Find the Windows 10 Driver for 281e103c&rev_02

If HP Compaq does not have the driver/s you need and has not supplied them to Microsoft for inclusion in Win10 it may be difficult to find them. The number you give seems to go with the Ethernet Controller on the motherboard.
DC5800 - HP Support Forum - 5055760
You may have to determine who made the motherboard then check with that manufacturer. It's quite possible there are no drivers available, problem being Vista-compatible drivers may not work with Win10 or with Win8 or Win8.1 due to age. It's fairly well known that Win10 doesn't play well with all the older computers, does some but doesn't do many more.

Does everything otherwise work on the computer with Win10? If so what I'd try is to disable the Ethernet/LAN in the BIOS, get a 10/100 or 10/100/1000 Ethernet card that supports Win10 and plug into the motherboard then install the software if Win10 doesn't pick it up. You may have to get the Low-Profile version of the card, a limit of the SFF/Small Form Factor cases. Or you could get a USB Wi-Fi Dongle. There used to be USB LAN/Ethernet adapters, plug into a USB port and install the software then plug in the Ethernet cable.

Hello there, and thanks for popping in.

Well, i'm having trouble finding a driver for my old Xerox Phaser 3210. The official driver, which is right here, cannot be installed because it seems to think I don't have working USB ports.

You cannot install USB Port Driver because your Windows or PC does not support USBClick to expand...

I have then just plugged the usb in, waited until Windows popped up with the Driver, and directed it to that Driver file I downloaded from Xerox.com, but to no avail.

I have tried looking around for generic printer drivers, but none seem to work either. Is it possible to get this printer working again?

EDIT: Sorry, i'm a, well, for lack of better words, moron. Never thought to check the PCL download instead of USB. Well, this is solved, so i'll mark it as solved? Again, sorry for spamming this forum with a useless thread.

Hi. I have a Dell 310 with XP Media 2002 Edition. I have 4 users authorized/named. I also have a Dell XP Pro, with 4 users (the same 4). With the XP Pro, more than one user can be signed on at one time; I need to "switch user" and response time is a bit slower, but it still works and I can access all programs. However, with the XP Media, I can only have one user logged on. If I try to log on more than one, and run any program, I receive a "runtime error! message - "The application has requested the RUntime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

Is this an XP Media issue - that OS can only accomodate one user at a time? Or is there some way for me to configure the OS/system to allow for more than one user to be logged on?

Thanks,
stuarth

Hey everyone I really need some help with this:
I just burnt my Win7 install .iso to a DVD and rebooted my computer ready for the installation. I wait for the windows files to load, then when the bar is full, the screen goes to a blue screen with this message:

"...The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS.
Technical information:

Please help me sort this out, I have a fairly new computer that has been running XP SP3 without error thus far, and I am very keen to make the leap to Win7. Any and all help is most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have been trying now to install drivers for my Panasonic Digital Camera, which installs itself as a ZIP drive (it uses a 3.5 100MB ZiP disk instead of memory cards), and Fusion Dazzle which is an analog to digital convereter. Both plug in via USB. They used to work perfectly until I had to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer.

I now get an error message that it is missing certain files (which ARE on the system) and it is looking for "C:\PCLEUSB.drv". When I point it to the correct driver location I get an error message saying that this driver has not been digitally signed to be compatible for Windows XP and will now exit installation.

I am using the most current drivers from the manufacturer and they say that they are Windows compatible and I am the first to have this problem. So far, they have been unable to assist.

Any suggestions?
Ed

Answer:Driver not Windows XP signed

usually the program will ask you if you want to continue, I have never experienced where it just "exited" on it's own. I always continue regardless but it is up to the user.

I recently got a docking station for my laptop (Dell precision M65 w/WinXP Pro SP3 all updates) and when I plugged it in (after all the plug-n-play stuff detected the new docking station stuff), the mouse plugged into the dock USB port would not work (it worked fine previously when plugged into the laptop USB port). I undocked and plugged the mouse back into the laptop's port but it still didn't work.

I went into the device management applet and and tried to update the driver. There was nothing under "Mice and other pointing devices" except the PS/2 touchpad. Under "Human Interface Devices" there was an entry called "HID-Compliant device" If I deleted that device and then did a "scan for hardware changes" I would get the "found new hardware" popup in the tray and then breifly see "Dell USB Optical Mouse" during which the mouse would work but within 2 or 3 seconds it would switch to "HID-Compliant device" and then inform me that my hardware was ready to use at which point the mouse stopped working.

After much screwing around with the device manager and various other USB mice, I found that I could use the "Update Driver" right-click menu item to force the driver to "HID-Compliant mouse" by bypassing all the "Automatic" stuff. This resuted in a working mouse, but I have to do this every time I turn on the laptop.

I have noticed that while following the dialogs during... Read more

I'll try to keep this brief:

> Upgraded GFX cards to 2 x Asus EAH4980 (ATI Radeon HD4890 architecture) from NVidia 8800GTS

> Performed full format on HD and reinstalled Windows Vista X64 Home Premium as well as SP1 and SP2

> Installed chipset drivers etc.

> Installed bundled VGA drivers (8.592)

> Installed miscellaneous software/games

System was running very stable and performing well in Benchmarking tests and games. I then tried to update the VGA drivers to the latest versions, first from ATI's own website - Catalyst 9.8 with VGA driver displayed in Device Manager as 8.640 - and then from Asus' website - displayed as 8.630 in Device Manager.

No matter what drivers I update to I am met with BSOD errors as soon as I try to run any kind of media on my PC. The dump files/dxdiag info etc. is attached to this post.

Upon investigation I note that one driver is not loading and is listed as 'not digitally signed', namely

ATKDispLowFilter.sys

This driver is an AsusTek release. It appears to load ok before I perform these driver updates. I can find no reference to any issues with it either on Asus' forums or elsewhere so this doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I've tried to locate a signed version of the driver to no avail.

Any solution would be very much appreciated.

Phil

Am trying to install HP Deskjet 630c printer and it keeps telling me this driver is not digitally signed. I just put Windows xp on the computer. What does this mean and can I get help? I am not very computer literate and any help would greatly appreciated. Many thanks Paula.

Answer:driver is not digitally signed

"Not digitally signed" means Microsoft have not tested this driver and verified it to be compatible with Win XP. This does not mean it will not work, you should click on the "continue anyway" to install your print driver. If this is a concern you should check the HP web site for newer driver tested by MS.Kim

Hey,

So I just upgrade to Vista x64 and 4GB of memory (courtesy of OCZ).

However, when installing the x64 version of MagicDisc/MagicISO I get the following error:

Can I get around this?

Answer:Required Digitally Signed Driver?

Uhmmm... yes, you can by pressing F8 at boot time and choosing to ignore the warnings about unsigned drivers, but you have to do it each and every time you boot. There is a way to permanently disable that driver signing requirement but I'm leery to give out the info anymore since it hosed a few people's machines recently.

It wasn't my fault that they chose to continue using shitty old drivers, but they blamed me for the mistake they made anyway.

Vista x64 is a more secure and stable OS than the 32 bit version, and that's one of the primary reasons why: the driver signing requirement. Disabling it or 'getting around it' will more than likely end up causing you issues at some point.

Google can find the specific method to disable the signing requirement permanently, or a search here might find it since it's been posted about 3 times over the past 4 months or so.

Good luck, either way...

G'day. I'm trying to install my old VisionPLus DVB-T card into a Windows 7 O/S box and it won't recognise any of the old drivers. When I try to install the TwinHan Digital tv software, Windows can't/ won't install them.

I've downloaded and tried the latest (DigitalTV 3.4 Build 19-02_20090212) and windows comes up with "Driver not found". I've tried to install in compatability mode but still no good.

When installing the above, it identifies my card as “PCI CX-87A with MCU DVB-S/-C/-T/ATSC card”.

Out of all the available drivers on Twinhan's site, which would be the best for my card?

Thanks

The one written for Vista would be my choice, probably not one for W7 yet, may never be.

Looks like MS ha removed a way to disable unsigned drivers protection in Vista64, so probably is the same for 7

Looks like unsigned drivers are a no go for x64 Vista and Windows 7, well there are some workarounds in the article above, sounds like a hassle.
Not sure if this software will work with W7

Hi, I finally have my File System mini-filter driver working great, and tested it a lot on Vista 64-bit using the testsigning boot option. All was fine.

However, when I turn testsigning OFF and try to start the service (the driver), I get the StartService failed with 577 - windows cannot verify the digital signature. Note that the driver in INSTALLED, and the Registry is updated, etc. I just can't start the service (even when running as Admin).

It is signed using a Microsoft cross-certificate, based on the original certificate issued by GlobalSign, as directed in MSDN. You can examine the certificate using the driver's properties, and all looks fine.

I also tried installing the certificate, but that made no difference. This should all be correct, except that it doesn't work!! Any idea what is going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I thought I was all done with this project, but since it doesn't work, I am currently screwed. THANKS!
