Preferred Solution: Screensaver does not turn on when docked with a T410 32-bit Windows 7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, So I bought my T410 and dock in June, 2010. Everything worked great until about 2 weeks ago. Normally, when I dock the computer, it is asleep with the lid closed. When I open it now, most of the time, it will freeze upon waking and I will need to force a hard shutdown. Even when it is docked and I restart it after the hard shutdown, it will freeze upon booting. Last night, the computer actually froze in a similar manner while docked and running- something which had never before happened. The only way I can get the computer to work is by undocking it and starting it up (battery power and AC adapter both work). Obviously, docking it after it has started up can also cause this problem. I have updated the BIOS to 1.34 and have downloaded all available updates. Nothing has fixed it. My dock is the minidock with 4 usb ports, a vga output, ethernet, and an ac adapter. It is the lowest/cheapest dock model, but I can't remember which one. I have a VGA monitor plugged in, an external hard drive, an ipod, and a mouse. I want to stress that I have never had any issues when this computer is plugged in and not docked or running on battery power. Any help or ideas as to why this would happen would be greatly appreciated. It seems that the incidence has been increasing and it can be very frustrating. Thank you,Jonathan Katz

Answer:T410 freezes when docked

Have you checked for virus infection? If everything comes back clean, try installing the Video, Chipset, CPU, Power Management drivers manually (overwriting possibly corrupted drivers) instead of using System Update.

My T410 is overheating and shutting off while docked. It gets real hot, fan spins at full blast and then bam, it turns off.  Yes, I am doing multiple tasks at the same time, compiling code, syncing iTunes, zipping a 1 GB file.  My old ThinkPad's never shutdown.  Not sure why this one will overheat and shutdown. Any ideas much appreciated.

Answer:T410 Overheating and shutting off while docked

More info... When the laptop is docked and you run a multi-process application and max out the processors the laptop will shut down due to thermal overheating. A quick and easy way to kill the ThinkPad T401 is to run iTunes that is connected to a library on a server, then plug an iPad and sync up the video, music and pictures from your albums.  The iPad requires the photo?s to get compressed which requires a significant amount of power from the computer.  iTunes leverages the multi processors by spawning 4 iTunesPhotoProcessors as you can see below. Those processes along with the iTunes.exe, AppleMobileDeviceHelper and iTunesHelper cause the laptop to overheat and shutdown.  Every single time. I was also able to reproduce this while zipping a massive 2GB file and compiling code in Visual Studio, working in Excel, email open and copying a file up to our datacenter servers. Room temperature is 71 degrees about 11:30pm at night in San Diego, CA.  Heater is off, regular room temperature.  Humidity is typical San Diego, just perfect.

HelloI have a user that is using a T410 laptop and when it is docked, he will lose connectivity to the network.  If he plugs the ethernet cable into the Laptop it works fine, and the wireless also works fine. We have tried using different docks and get the same result. I have updated the drivers, Windows updates and nothing seems to help the issue. He is running XP on this machine.Did anyone else ever have this issue?

We have received our first two new T410 and 4338 docking stations.  Both of these units are experiencing the same problem in that they are difficult to turn on while docked with the lid shut. For example:Dock the T410 and shut the lid.Press the dock's power button. You will see the T410's battery LED and hibernate "moon" LED flash, but then nothing happens, no fan noises or anything. If you press the power button again, then the laptop may or may not turn on.   Sometimes it takes 5-10 presses before it will turn on.It doesn't matter how long you hold the button for...the problem is the same whether a quick click or a longer press. The problem remains the same whether the dock is "locked" or "unlocked".Now, if you open the lid on the laptop and press the dock's power button, then it will turn on instantly...everytime...no problem.   Naturally, pressing the T410's native power button also turns it on instantly. I am seeing the same problem on two identical laptops and docks.   Has anyone else seen this...and if so, any ideas on how to resolve the problem?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

... and then turn back on again when the T61p is undocked. I have a co-worker who also has a T61p, and his wireless adapter behaves exactly like this.  That is, when the laptop is docked, the wifi gets disabled (you can see it happen while watching the Device Manager window in XP -- it gets a red 'X').  When the laptop is undocked, the wifi turns back on again, automatically.  There's wired Ethernet connected to the dock, so when docked the T61p uses the wired connection, and when undocked the wireless automatically turns on and connects.  This is perfect behavior for our use here. I can't figure out how to get this functionality.  The co-worker says he doesn't recall setting this up -- it just happened. (I looked at the Access Connections utility supplied with the T61p, but I can't figure out how to get it to detect the docked/undocked states as different "locations."  But the co-worker isn't using the Access Connections utility anyway, so it probably doesn't matter.) Does anyone know how to get the T61p to do what I want?  Thanks.

Answer:I want WiFi radio to automatically turn off when T61p is docked

You need to select the "Use Best Available connection" option (or similar, I forget the exact wording) in your Access Connection profile. This will automatically switch to a wired connection if one is available. Cheers, Bill

I have a T420s on a Series 3 docking plugged in to 2 external monitors each through DVI. When I turn the monitors off or they sleep (after inactivity) the system loses the fact that they are plugged in and switches to the ThinkPad display, even though the lid is closed, so when I bring the computer back sometimes the external monitors don't come back on or they have to reconfigure and all my windows are resized and on 1 monitor instead of how they were left when I walked away. I had the exact same configuration with my T61 and never had this issue, any suggestions? I just want the computer to still use the monitors or think they are still there even if they are turned off or go to sleep.

Answer:T420s docked with 2 external monitors being "lost" when they turn off

hi branskiver, its really hard to say why it does so, but I would like you to try the following1.T420s to be undock2. Connect one external monitor to T420s directly3. Configure it and then let it sleep or turn off the T420scheck and see if you're experiencing the same issue

I have a Dell E5440 laptop that recently had it's LCD panel replaced. I usually dock it and connect it to an Optoma Projector and before I had the LCD panel replaced, I only showed 2 displays when I went to screen resolution. Now, after the LCD panel has been replaced, I see 3 displays in Screen Resolution, one of them being the laptop display.

Has anyone seen this behavior before and if so, do you know how to correct it? And before you go telling me to check my power setting in the Control Panel, my power settings are the same as they were before I had my LCD panel replaced. Also, I have upgraded the BIOS and completely wiped the hard drive and re-installed Windows.

At this point in time, I'm willing to entertain any and all suggestions.

Thanks,

Rusty

I'm now running XP on my new laptop and am VERY happy that I was able to find all the necessary drivers. One behavior though which was also occurring when Vista was loaded was that i couldn't seem to get the laptop screen to go off when docked. I have searched and read and followed instructions to the letter. I'm not a lazy newbie posting before researching...it just doesn't happen the way it should.

If someone has been successful at accomplishing this, please guide me to the promised land!!!

Answer:Screen of Satellite A215-S4747 won't turn off while docked with Dynadock.

The functionality you request cannot be provided by the Dynadock.
It's a USB-Docker with an additional graphics board build in and no full docking solution.
The only thing you can do is to deactivate any action when you close the lid in the power management and close the notebook display when docked with Dynadock.
The display is switched off when you close the display lid.

I have a Windows Vista PC (Lenovo Thinkpad r61) that is acting buggy. It won't let me turn off the screensaver. I go into the screensaver settings, set it to 'none', and then click 'apply' and 'ok'. When I open the screensaver settings again, though, nothing has changed. I went in and found the 'ScreenSaverActive' key in the Registry, and tried to change that from 1 to 0, but it won't let me. I'm the administrator on the PC.

Help?

Answer:Screensaver Won't Turn Off

Hi, you should not have any problems with this key:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. You can right click on control panel and select permissions , you should see your user there with a check in full control. It's this way by default.

You might have downloaded a theme and it's process is still running, have a look at task manager under processes. If so open services.msc and disable the service.

NOTE: Hopefully this is a suitable forum for this thread. If it isn't, I apologize.
For the longest time now, I'd say about 4 months, my screensaver has not been able to turn on for whatever reason. I did my research online and found that my wireless mouse (Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000 is what I have) could very well be the problem. I found, through research that 2 Windows Updates ("Microsoft - Other hardware - Microsoft Hardware wireless mouse driver", and "Microsoft - Other hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter (KB 911895)") could resolve it. While it had already said they were installed on my computer, I ended up uninstalling both updates in order to reinstall them but once I did, the screensaver still didn't come on.

I also went through Microsoft Help and they said there were other alternatives such as installing Intellipoint for my Wireless mouse (Which I did) and ending some "PowerDVD service" thing which I don't have. And now my screensaver STILL doesn't work when I have it set. Anyone else have any ideas or tips on what I should do? I also went to CRTL+ALT+DLT to bring up processes and went to the "services" tab and I don't know if there is any service I should END in order for my screensaver to work again. ANY help would be amazing and I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.

I have a ThinkCentre M58p (6137) running Windows 7.  No matter what I do, I cannot get the screensaver to kick on.  I also can't get the display to turn off through the power settings.  Any suggestions?

Answer:Screensaver will not turn on

hey samwarr, high possibility a software that is installed or a background program is causing this to occur.place windows into diagnostic mode via msconfig. this will then make your unit start with only windows-based drivers only.with this mode, see if the screensaver activates or not (do not launch any application) . if it does; that would mean that one or more 3rd party apps/drivers / non-windows process is causing the issue.

Hello,
I'm running Windows XP on a Sony Vaio laptop. For some reason, my Screensaver recently stopped functioning. I had it set to start after 20 minutes, but noticed that even after sitting there for hours (or overnight) it would never turn on. I changed the time to 1 minute, but still it never comes on. I have selected different Screensavers and changed the options to see if it made a difference, but it still will not run.

The screensaver definitely used to work, and I'm not sure at what point it stopped. Any ideas what I can do to get it kick-started again?

Thanks,
Nancy

Hello, I have a Lenovo T410 notebook. I am a PhD and have to do quite a lot of number crunching and at some point it just starting switching off! I know some motherboards do this when the computer overheats and I am right! I managed to feel my laptop after a while and it was very hot! I have been keeping it out of the sun and been opening my windows (its warm right now in the UK) and I haven't had this extreme overheating problem before... Now it won't even turn on... I press the on button and it doesn't even stay on a second. My warrently has expired... What shall I do? How repairable does this sound? Can Lenovo fix this for me? Many Thanks,Joe

Answer:T410 overheating and now it won't even turn on!

You need to have it checked out for sure. A quick shutoff like that indicates something is not right. heat sinking issue, cooked CPU but requires a trained tech. Yeah Lenovo can fix it. Question should be will they which depends how far out of warranty it is and if this was a design problem that was not addressed on your particular unit.

Happy with my recent purchase of a T410 but one thing is annoying the heck out of me! I'm a mouse guy from wayback when and prefer a wired USB version. Here's the rub: when I'm typing, sometimes my thumb taps the mouse keys when I hit the space bar or the red toggle button. My cursor jumps randomly up or down a few lines or more. Since I use the corded mouse exclusively, is there a way to turn OFF the touchpad?

Look in the BIOS under config, then look at keyboard/mouse. You will find what you need.

I've had my T410 for about eight months, and have never had any problems with wireless connectivity before. Now the wireless adapter won't turn on. I'm on Windows 7. These are the symptoms: In the fn-F5 menu, the hardware wireless radio switch is reflected as "on". The 802.11 wireless radio shows "off". When I click to turn it on, the application looks like it's doing something for a few seconds, but the radio does not turn on. No errors are reported. Both the mobile broadband adapter and Bluetooth turn on fine.If I try to use Access Connections to connect to a pre-existing profile, it tells me it's powering on the wireless adapter, and then proceeds with the connection. However, the association fails, and it doesn't appear as if the wireless adapter is in fact turned on.The ThinkVantage Toolbox shows the wireless adapter as disabled at the hardware level. All Windows diagnostic tools reflect that the hardware radio is off.I've read a number of threads on this, and have tried all of the following: Uninstalling Access Connections, the drivers for the wireless adapter, all power management utilities, the on-screen display and the on-screen magnifier; and then reinstalling them. I also included the GPS, the mobile broadband, and anything else I figured could be remotely related to the wireless adapter's functioning, just for good measure.Changing the power settings to prevent the computer from turning off the wireless adapter when not in use (this includes the setting i... I'm not sure what I did but my computer (Vista) has started acting differently in a bad way.

I had it set for almost a year now that if I had something minimized (e.g., Internet Explorer) and there was no activity for 10 minutes, it would go to a blank screensaver.

Now all of a sudden today, if I'm away 10 minutes it just turns off completely. Then I have to press the button to turn in on and sign in and reopen whatever I was working on.

This is really bad, because sometimes I am doing things where I cannot afford to lose my connection.

I've checked the battery, it is at 100%, and I never use it on battery, I always keep it plugged in. I checked the connection from the power outlet to the middle block with the light to my computer, and everything is lit up and connected.

I noticed Power Settings for the first time today, and it is on VAIO Optimized (but I am fairly certain I didn't mess around with that at all.)

I'm a new T410/Windows 7 Professional 64-bit owner and I have a quick question regarding the USB ports. I know one is always 'on' (with the yellow insert on the right); but the other three seem to be providing power to my external Western Digital Essential portable hard drive even when the computer is off or in sleep mode. The HD is portable, so it's powered by the USB only.  The HD light continually flashes even when the computer is in standby or powered off completely.  When the computer is off or in standby, the same three USBs do NOT provide power to my iPod Touch 2G however. The same HD drive powers off immediately with my old T60 running XP-Pro. I checked the T410 BIOS and I couldn't find a setting for this and all of the USB device manager settings indicate that the computer is 'free to shut down the usb port to save power'. Also, the usb selective setting is enabled in the power manager. There must be a minimum amt of power always available on these three ports that are strong enough to power the drive, but not the iPod...  How can I disable the power on the 3 USB ports? Any ideas? Thank you in advance..

So I normally leave my computer on 24/7 and I noticed after waking up the past couple of days it hasn't turned the monitor off or even went to screensaver like it normally would do after 10 minutes and 5 minutes respectively like I set it to do. After searching Google for several minutes I couldn't find a solution that worked. I also noticed my Starry Night screensaver that doesn't come with Windows 7 was mysteriously gone from the list and I had to reinstall it.

Anyway I can get it to activate by pressing the preview button for the screensaver and I can press the appropriate buttons on my keyboard to make the monitor go to sleep like it normally would after 10 minutes but they never auto-activate.

I've tried updating drivers, specifically my video card's drivers, I've tried checking the advanced options of power options, I've tried typing in some powercfg command line commands I can't remember the syntax of entirely, I've tried checking the registry, I've tried a lot of things. Are there any ideas anyone has?

Hi all,I have a T410 with windows 7 enterprise 32 bit. The normal wireless connection and blue tooth connections are stable and works good. However the Wireless WAN radio seems to turn itself off after about 5 minutes regardless if I'm connected or not. I've un installed the access connection program and rebuilt the profiles with not luck. I've also change the power management setting both in the device manager and in the control panel. What else can I try. Note this is for the mobile card radio. Regards J

Same here except mines is a ThinkPad T400 model or type 2764-CT0. It happens to me like every 10 minutes. I would have to press Fn+F5 again and reconnect. Don't know how to solve this since I've already tried updating drives.

Long time owner first time problem. I have a T410 i5 and there seems to be a problem with the power board. I can power on, off, sleep, hibernate all fine under battery and AC (both with and without battery in). However when I disconnect the battery then put the battery back in the laptop will not start. To resolve this problem, I have the connect the AC power (I can plug it in then take it straight back out) then  the laptop will turn on. To be clear I can just insert the AC power fro a second then remove it, the laptop will then start from the battery. Seems to me a capacitor has gone or is not charging from the battery only. Anybody any ideas? Regards, Paul.

Answer:T410 wont turn on if battery is disconnected the reconnected.

from what you presented, it seems to me that you battery is completely dead. it happened to me on my sl500 and the only thing i did is to replace the battery.

I am having a problem with my T530 and Windows 8 Enterprise.  The mouse gets very jerky and jumpy when the cursor changes...i.e. if I move it across a text box and the mouse icon changes from the arrow to a cursor.  The strange thing is this only happens when docked.  If I undock the laptop, I have no problems. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any ideas??  I have tried updating drivers but nothing has worked.

Hello, I have a problem with my T410 (model: 25223FG)with Nvidia NVS 3100M  (driver version 8.17.12.5738  (27.06.2010) ) .The Fn+F3 Key-Command is configured to turn of the display. In almost 50% of the cases where I use the Key-Command (fn+F3), the display turns off but does not turn on again on mouse movement or key-press or touch-pad action. The faulty behaviour occures always when the T410 is connected to the AC adapter. And the chance of the display not turning on again seems to become higher with increase of the duration between Key-Command and mouse movement. In these test cases my energy manager configuration was set to not turn of anything, when connected to AC. If I configure it to turn of the display after some time I am experiencing the same problem. So my question is:Does anyone have a suggestion where to start? (display driver, bios,...) RegardsJonny

Hi, as in the thread title in a clean install of win 10 and the latest nvidia drivers, my monitor wont turn off after its been idle for X amount of minutes that I set in the power savings page and also the screensaver doesnt start after a set time either.

Does anyone else suffer from this problem and if so is their a fix for it ?

Thanks in advance for any help given as this bug is really annoying me.

EDIT

Getting a little closer to solving it. I was noticing problems in device manager, when I was in DM and selected show hidden devices I noticed a pile of usb devices that said they werent plugged in ??? Anyway I decided to just unplug all usb devices except key board and mouse and bingo within a minute the monitor turns off, which was the time I had set the monitor to go off at, purely for testing purposes, once all other usb devices were unplgged the screen saver and monitor going idle now works, now herein lies the problem, I have a handful of usb wires in my hand and I dont know which one is to blame, maybe more than one is to blame, fuck knows but now atleast I have a start on how to fix this shit.

I downloaded the fliqlo screensaver and it worked alright for about three days, but today it is causing many issues.
My screen timeout is set to one minute, and it timed-out correctly and the screensaver came up. However, when I moved the mouse to get back to my regular computer screen, all that showed was a black screen in the sense of "black light". By "black light" I mean that the screen is not off completely, but rather the light color is black. If someone needs a picture of this I have no issue providing such.
So after restarting my computer because I could not get the regular screen up I went to try and change my screensaver in Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Personalization>Screen Saver. The separate menu to change my screen saver never launched, no matter how many times I clicked the button. The current control panel window would go out of focus as if it WAS going to pull up, but it did not.
Lastly, I tried to just relaunch the fliqlo setup file, to which it was no success and the .exe file froze and stopped responding.
Thank you for any help provided. Will provide screenshots/photos if needed.

Hi,

I have a couple of Windows 7 Pro (x86) machines that are used as kiosks in public locations. I'd like to have the computers display a video on the screen, presumably as a screensaver, while no one is logged in to Windows. Usage sessions with the kiosks are short. Folks usually just want to look something up online or quickly print a document. I read a tutorial by Brink for Windows 7 which sets a blank logon screensaver, but I wonder if that functionality can be extended to include video clips.

Thanks

Answer:Video Screensaver for Logon Screensaver

Welcome to Seven Forums N74JW. I do not think it is possible to have a video on the logon screen. It is possible as desktop background. You can change the logon screen background, and the startup animation, but you cannot play a video. I'm sure there are Kiosk programs, and it's possible they could do what you'd like. A Guy

How to turn windows firewall off? I can't click the Turn Windows Firewall On or Off

Answer:How to turn windows firewall off? I can't click the Turn Windows Firew

This may have been disabled on your computer, particularly if you are in a Domain (e.g.: at work, in a library, etc).

However assuming that you have Administrator rights to your computer you should be able to turn it on and off by going to Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

If you cannot turn the Firewall off through the above approach try the following Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

Looks for the 'Windows Firewall' Service, double click it, then click on 'Stop'.

From within the Service properties you can also stop the Firewall from starting with Windows, etc.

Hello,
I have trouble as described in the topic,
I have two most old laptop models, Dell Precision M6300 & Dell Latitude D630.
When laptops is docked to replicator potr dock stations D/APR (PR01X) or D/DOCK (PD01X) - bigger one model with DVD port,

headphone jack port not working under Windows 10 Pro x64 installed on both laptops.

On M6300 previously was installed Windows 7 Ultimate and on D630 was Windows 8.1.
On Dell  M6300 on Win 7 Ult. headphone jack port worked properly.
On Dell D630 on Win 8.1 I'm not sure due I do not used this on it (more years ago when it was on Win XP headphone jack port worked properly)
So when Ms start delivering updates do Win 10, I did it on doth laptops, everything on both models working fine, but only this headphone jack port in D/APR (PR01X) or D/DOCK (PD01X) wouldn't like to work when I'm dockind Dell M6300 (D630 I docked only
for test if on this one jack port will work or not) but not working too like on M6300.
So loks like drivers whih was made oryginally for Win Vista x64 ale which was workable for Windows 7 64b wouldn't like to work on Windows 10.
Maybe You have some tips what to do with this to press them to work?

Hi,I have a Thinkpad T410 that was delivered with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. But for using the notebook with 8 GB RAM I need to have 64-bit version. On the COA under the battery it says Windows 7 Pro OA but nothing about 32-bit or 64-bit. Does it mean that I can use a 64-bit installation?

Yes, under Microsoft's licensing, you can use the same Windows 7 Product ID to install either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7 on your system, but you cannot upgrade from 32 to 64-bit, so it will have to be a fresh installation. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/is-a-windows-7-license-k... Cheers,

I have a Lenovo T410 Laptop, Windows 7 Professional - x64 that is still under warranty.  In the last few days I keep getting
this dialog box that says "This computer is not running genuine Windows".  When I click the "resolve online now" link it
wants me to install software.  when I run the software, it then prompts me to pay for a genuine copy.

The computer was purchased directly from Lenovo, so I am confident that it is running a legitimate copy of Windows.

I called Microsoft, and they had me run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool which showed a corrupt registry
component. Microsoft stated they need the installation CD key to fix this issue and to verify and authenticate the Windows
license.  There was no Windows 7 sticker with the license key anywhere on the computer as far as I can see.  I have searched through the material supplied with the computer, however no windows 7 license or key was provided.

I used a keyfinder tool, but it says the registry entry is corrupt.

Where do I find the key?

Answer:Need Windows 7 CD key for T410

The sticker should be under the battery.

So I clicked on "OK" anyway to use it as the current screensaver with a 5 minute delay, (there are no properties settings with this screensaver). Now whenever the screensaver activates after the set 5 minute delay, it does the same thing. What is the problem?

Hi All, Between me being a newb and Lenovo not sending out a Windows 7 disk with my T410, I never created a recovery disk (don't think it was even written in the little paperwork given in the box).  My hard drive crashed and I'm now in need of a new Windows 7 disk. Ridicously (but not surprisingly) Lenovo wants $40 for a new disk??   Do I have any other (legit) options for a Windows 7 disk? Thanks, A newb

Answer:T410 Windows 7 (64-bit) disk?

I think if your hard drive suffers a malfunction before making out restore discs, you might be able to ask for one.

Hi, I have a T410 corporate with Windows XP Professional sp3 and I cannot upgrade to a newer OS version. I changed the traditional HD with a Samsung SSD 840 Pro 256GB, but the performance is very, very, very poor: only 60Mb/sec instead of 550Mb/sec of 840 Pro. I know that T410 contain a Sata2 controller, so my expectation is max 230Mb/sec. I know that Trim function is not supported with Windows XP, but SSD is new and empty for 85%. I just enabled AHCI function into BIOS before installing OS, so it is correctly recognized from Windowx XP. I used Samsung Magician 4.1 utility to optimize OS and SSD. I updated driver for Intel 5 Series Sata AHCI Controller to the last available from Lenovo support site. SSD Firmware version is the last available from Magician and from Samsung support site. I tried the same T410 with an SSD OCZ Vertex 4 256GB and the performance are correctly 230Mb/sec due to Sata2 controller. So the problem is on the combination of SSD 840 Pro and Windows XP. Do you have ideas? Thanks

i've installed windows xp sp2 to my t410 and i'm having problem with 1.pci simple controller 2.pci serial port driver. i've tried to solve the problems in many ways but still cannot get solution. i don't want to upgrade to windows xp sp3 or vista, 7. pls kindly advice me.

Answer:t410 windows xp sp2 driver

so the Lenovo drivers do not install correctly under SP2 pack? if that is the case, then i don't think there is much you can do about that, unless you rewrite the drivers.

I have a T410,   ID  2522-22U. I upgraded to windows 10 with seeming success. My display adapter is Intel HD Graphics and works well. My question is: the Windows 10 that installed is 32-bit but I have an x64 based processor. The 32-bit OS will not utilize 8GB RAM but the T410 will take it. I am wondering what drivers might be affected by upgrading to 64-bit.
Reading this article, "How to upgrade from a 32-bit to 64-bit version of Windows 10" (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-upgrade-32-bit-64-bit-version-windows-10), I downloaded Sysinternals' program CoreInfo to check the four values this article says must be in place. All are good.
I haven't found on the Lenovo site yet information about T410 driver options. It seems almost that the T410 is all but erased. There should at least be historical information and links.
My printer driver can update.
I will be looking into specific compents like the Intel HD Graphics.
What Lenovo-specific drivers might there be to upgrade and where are they? I would expect this would not be a problem as this T410 was built with an x64 processor.
All knowledge and experience welcome!
Thanks

Good day.

The T410 is considered to be End-of-Life, therefore drivers and documentation available from Lenovo has moved to the EoL support site at: https://download.lenovo.com/eol/

Hope this helps to clarify.
Regards.

It happens alot, when I leave the computer, and come back, it is frozen on 1 picture. Do I have too many pictures on my screensaver? What should I do when it freezes? I try to turn the computer off but if that does not work, I pull the power and plug it back in..

Whats the answer??

Answer:Screensaver freezing with Windows XP

Using pictures for your screensaver uses quite a lot of system resources. Is your screensaver always freezing on the same picture? If so, the picture file might be a lot bigger than the others. Combined with other applications running in the background, it might be too much, thus causing the freezing issue.

Have you tried CTRL+ALT+DEL before turning off your computer?

How much RAM do you have?

and after the computer reboots this is what it says :
windows did not shut down successfully . if this was due to the system not responding , or if the system was shut

Hello everyone, I was wondering if you could help me on this. I'm interested in making screensavers/videos/animations similar to those used in the Windows 98 classic screensavers (you know the ones with Maze/flowerbox/3d pipes/mystical shapes etc) And I was wondering if anyone knew
what program windows used to make these screensavers?

any help on this would be much appreciated. thanks, ed.

Answer:Windows 98 Screensaver question

For Windows 98, those screensavers were all probably written Visual C++.

I'm not looking for an old screensaver. I'm looking for one I downloaded about 3 weeks ago just before my computer crashed. I had to reinstall Windows 7 and was able to find all my data in the windows.old file. But I don't know how to find that screensaver. It must be there, but I can't figure out how to get to it.

Answer:Looking for screensaver in windows.old file

Hello Spiper,

You could open the Windows.old folder, then do a search using *.scr to search for all .scr (screen saver) files in the folder. Hopefully it will be listed in the search results for you.
