T500: boot up error, bluetooth stack service, hibernation- Seriously searching for help.

Question: T500: boot up error, bluetooth stack service, hibernation- Seriously searching for help.

hi all,

I'm really hoping someone can read this post and help a little bit. Let me start with this, at this point, I know I'm screwed so I'm just looking for some help on why this might have happened. A little background, my T500 has been flawless, and I love it too death. I work with hundreds of people that swear by Mac's and I say how much I love my Lenovo everyday. But regardless, I don't think it's a Lenovo issue.

So I have a T500 with 8GB memory, Kingston SSD, Windows 7 64bit. Symantec antivirus updated, Windows defender malware tools. No viruses anywhere.

Everything's been great till about a week ago. At that time, several windows updates and updates from Lenovo's site were installed. Including a windows update that's supposed to help the boot up speed of computers with and eSata port that's not in use.

Anyway, everything has been pretty good except two things. I kept getting an error every boot up that the bluetooth stack service couldn't start. Second, every time the computer would wake up from hibernation, I would get a blue screen on the device driver ianvstor.sys.

So today I decided to fix these issues... Huge mistake!!!

I started by fixing the ianvstor.sys issue. Posts all over the web say to update the Intel Turbo Memory drivers. So I downloaded the latest one from the Lenovo site and installed it. This went fine. I postponed the reboot and tried to install the bluetooth drivers at the same time, from the Lenovo site of course. This update failed unfortunately. So I went ahead and rebooted. Everything seemed fine. Upon reboot, I went into the program manager and removed the existing Lenovo bluetooth application. This is where my life went downhill. This took quite a while and there was a ton of disk activity. I took a quick look at windows explorer and noticed that my C drive start gaining free space by the GB. Not good. Next thing I notice, things disappear from my desktop!!! Oh great.

So I reboot after the uninstall, and bam... Windows won't reboot. Boot up screen says a device required to boot is missing. Fabulous. I run the hard drive diag tool from the BIOS and it passes just fine. But no matter what, it won't boot. Changing bios settings, like ahci/compatible on the SATA, etc. Won't boot, same issue. Booting to last known good fails, safe mode fails etc.

Take the hard drive out, attach it to a different computer, the user profile is there, but basically empty. Went from 15GB to 60MB.

What the heck has happened. Has anyone seen anything like this. Is there anyway in heck the bluetooth application or turbo memory update could have done this? I'm going nuts, I lost a month of work (hundreds of very important files) to this... I've never in my 12 years of IT seen anything like this. Files don't usually just start disappearing in front of your eyes (unless someone else was deleting them)...

Thanks in advance.

Preferred Solution: T500: boot up error, bluetooth stack service, hibernation- Seriously searching for help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: T500: boot up error, bluetooth stack service, hibernation- Seriously searching for help.

Stop booting the drive immediately, and run a disk recovery program on it.The closest thing I could think of is that the Uninstaller went haywire and started deleting files beyond it's target scope. (I know this first hand; I wrote an installer/uninstaller myself in VB6 that did the exact thing to my drive. Fortunately, I was dual-booting and recovered all of my files using the other partition.)I think it stopped booting because a few key driver files were wiped out. After trying to recover your files, try an offline SFC pass like so:http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/run-sfc-offline-windows-7-vista/Not sure if it'll pick up on missing files, but it will replace modified files.Chances are, a fair bit of files were wiped.

hi...i did everything (as far as i know) to have my bluetooth work,no good.... i uninstalled the drivers and reinstall it. i even updated the drivers, but it didn't solve the problem.. many people said that it was because of the service pack 2. what i did was to uninstall service pack 2, but still, it didn't work. i can only send files from my phone to my laptop via file transfer wizard...that's the only thing i can do with my bluetooth... i'm thinking of reformatting it, do you guys think it will solve my prob? if you have other ideas, please help...thanks...

Hi, have a new Lenovo Z580 w/win7 home premium. All was fine; did lots of Windows updates, installed Outlook 2007 and all still seemed fine. Then on 11/11, we started getting this error several minutes after startup."Can not start BlueTooth Stack Service". No idea what caused it.Checked forums and talked to support where I bought computer; all suggested downloading and installing new Bluetooth drivers from Lenovo site. (We did check whether Bluetooth Service was set to Automatic and it already was.)Reinstalled drivers and all was well until today.11/13..same error. (No new updates have been done since 11/10.)Can you help? I don't want to have to reinstall drivers every 2 days...Should we remove the Bluetooth icon from system tray? Hesitant to do that, in case it messes up something else that I don't understand. We have a Logitech wireless mouse that I think uses Bluetooth, but other than that, we don't use any Bluetooth devices that I know of.Thanks, Carol

Hi tee05 and welcome to TSF.

I believe most HP G62 models use the same Broadcom Bluetooth Driver (2070). Can you download SP50180.exe and install it. You will also see the installation instructions as well on that page.

Answer:Bluetooth Stack Service

What operating system are you using? If you have installed SP2 in Windows XP, this implements native support for Bluetooth which can cause conflicts with third-party Bluetooth software you may have been using previously.I had to remove my existing Bluetooth software and use SP2's built-in support instead.

A few days ago I began to receive the above noted error message. The system locked up, more or less, until this message would appear after about 15 minutes.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 with Windows Vista Business, SP2. I do not use bluetooth connectivity between my laptop and external devices.

To resolve this error, I did the following:

Start --> Programs --> Dell Quickset --> Radio Control Options
Click "Advanced Settings" button
Click "Radio Control Options" Tab
Unselect "Bluetooth"
OK --> OK
Click Bluetooth Taskbar Icon --> Disable Bluetooth Devices
I hope this helps because I could not find anything on the Internet with this solution. Hours on the phone with Dell proved, unsurprisingly, to be a waste of time.

Hi?
Delete files using Disk Cleanup
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup#delete-files-using-disk-cleanup=windows-8
Uninstall desktop apps and Store apps you don't need anymore in Programs and Features and Windows store.
Move your media file such like photo, music or movie to removable storage device.
Follow the links suggested by britishdhez, contact with your manufacture if you need to delete the recovery partition on your tablet. And after that you might need to send your tablet to manufacture for recover when you have system problem.

Greetings!  I've been banging my head against this for awhile now.  My company had a customized T500 last year with a Lenovo wireless card in it, and now we've switched to an off-the-shelf model with the Intel card.  Suddenly, we cannot print consistently to Bluetooth printers. I say "consistently" because it *will* print, but only 1 job.  Then you have to power off/on the printer to print another job, rinse and repeat.  The only thing that seems to stand out as the culprit is when I go to Enable the Bluetooth Printer Service, it tells me "Unable to start the Bluetooth printer service.  Verify the local printer is physically connected to this computer by a USB or parellel cable, is set as the default print, and is turned on." This same printer (HP Officejet 470) will work just fine on our older T500's, along with other even older T42 models.  Also, the printer works great when on a USB cable -- it's just the Bluetooth that gives us problems.  All the other Bluetooth services appear to be enabled OK -- it's the Printer Service that has an error. One thing:  the Bluetooth printing works fine in the factory Windows Vista installation.  But we run a customized Windows XP sp2 load.  However, I've tried updating all the drivers I can think of and installing the full HP software suite, all to no avail.  And I evidently appear to be the only person this has ever happened to, because there is nothing via Google... Unable to start bluetooth stack. Any suggestions? What is a bluetooth stack?

Answer:Error: Unable to start bluetooth stack

Is that a startup error or when you try to connect to bt device?

Roughly bluetooth stack means bluetooth drivers. E.g. there is the widcomm stack (now broadcom) or the Microsoft stack.

If you use bluetooth, you need to grab the right drivers for your computer. Make sure all bt services are started and set to automatic startup (at least initially, you can tinker with them later). In device manager, check that there are no yellow exclamation marks against bluetooth radios. You may run into problems with peripheral drivers but the first thing is to locate the right driver.

If you dont use bt, ignore above advice.

OTOH, if its just a startup error you want to get rid of, click on Start orb, type msconfig, click Startup tab, then uncheck any bt entries. Reboot.

Hello, I have had a strange problem with my ThinkPad regarding Hibernation on Vista x64.  For some reason, whenever I resume my system from Hibernation, if I don't touch it for roughly 2 minutes, my system will re-enter hibernation.  It's quite annoying, actually. I do recall seeing a similar topic posted under a different ThinkPad model, but I can't find that post. I recently did a re-format, but I've had this problem on my older image as well.  I just find it odd that I don't see more T400/T500 users with this problem. Are there any other users experiencing this?

Answer:T500 Automatically Re-Enters Hibernation after Hibernation Resume

That's been the normal mode of operation for my XP and Vista desktops going back to at least 2005.  I assume my T400s will do it as well (though I haven't noticed it yet).

After running Glary Utilities I get this strange error on each subsequent start up of my machine "Error loading Bluetooth stack". It also acts goofy between my phone and computer when using File Manager to browse my phone via Bluetooth. Glary Utils is a general purpose clean/repair freeware tool. I can't figure out if this a result of the registry cleanup tool temp file cleaning that causes this? If it is registry problem, what key might it have deleted to cause such a problem?

Answer:Win7 startup Error loading Bluetooth stack

Glary Utilities worked fine on XP and Vista then along come win 7 and it starts acting screwy. I've switched to another freeware program CCleaner formerly known as Crap Cleaner, and it seems to play nice with cleanup as far as temp and registry cleanup. I resolved the bluetooth issue by uninstalling the Bluetooth software and even going into device manager and uninstalling the driver. Then reinstall a fresh install from original software disk.I consider this issue closedThanks All

hi randy_chu,

thanks for posting. May i know if your system was like this when unboxed it or did you do a fresh installation on the machine. AS from you post i gathering that you might have done an update which could have pulled out a specific driver in which you will have to check the list of drivers and cross reference from the support site and install the ones you need. Please click on the link below for the list of drivers.

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?

Once on the page please click on the Black Triangle located on the left of the menu to expand the menu to see the list of drivers to download.

I recently installed the latest version of the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack (v9.10.32T) for one of my desired applications to properly function. However, connecting my Bluetooth headphones through Toshiba's bluetooth manager does not seem to support the media buttons on the headset. These include Play/Pause and seek buttons. Before the Bluetooth stack, when I used my default bluetooth driver for connection, these controls had worked fine.

Also, there does not seem to be a specific setting to fix this in the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack Options.
How would I go about getting these controls back?

Please help me.

I have Windows XPhome on my HP laptop, its about 2 years old. It has never given me problems and its got about 300+ MB of Ram

This week i upgraded MSN messenger to Windows Live Messenger and then started noticing problems (slow to load comp, freezing, msn not working) so i uninstalled and reinstalled. Then again, this happened. All of a sudden i got this Kernel Stack inpage error (blue screen) and instructions. I followed the instructions and rebooted.

After that, i tried to uninstall msn again for good. in the middle it crashed. I tried again. blue screen of death. finally loaded, uninstalled and did a simple recovery (no data loss) to the date prior to installing the new msn.

This seemed to fix the problem last night. Old msn back, no issues. Went to bed.

Woke up, tried the computer and now, after the initial HP page (where it says BIOS push F10, or F8 etc) it goes to a black screen and doesn't do anything else...at all. I tried again. and again. Same thing.

I am freaking out...I don't know what to do with BIOS or anything like that and I can't find my original windows CD. Is there a way to fix this without losing all my data on my computer? Can someone please help me fix this at all??? PLEASE???

Thank you

Answer:Kernel stack inpage error and NOW MY COMPUTER WON'T BOOT!!!!

This is usually a hard drive corruption issue.

First try reseating the cable on the drive; if that doesn't help, boot to the Recovery Console if you can and run:

chkdsk /r

Maybe someone can help me out,

I am working on a Dell 2300 with Windows XP Pro that has a problem with Windows shutting completely down and a Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error every once and a while. It alternates between the 0x00000077 and 0x0000007A message. In the parameters, the I/O Status Code always is a 0xC0000185 which is Status_IO_Device_Error which indicates improper termination, defective storage controller hardware, defective disk cabling, or two devices attempting to use the same system resources.

I have opened the computer up checked the cable between the hard drive and mother board and it looks fine. It fits snug and its not loose. I have looked at the IRQ's and the IDE controller is not sharing an IRQ with anything else. I have also run CHKDSK too.

After the Windows shuts down, this screen pops up, and it dumps the memory I shut the computer down. After I reboot the system, the Unmountable_Boot_Volume message comes up (0x000000ED). After restarting it over and over again alternating between Safe Mode and starting Windows normally it keeps on bringing the message up. Then after a while, the computer starts up normally. It will work fine after that.

This problem doesnt happen at a certain time or at certain intervals. It will just stop whatever it is doing and shut windows down. Sometimes it only lasts minutes, sometimes it will stay on for 12 hours.

Anybody think they know what the problem might be?

Answer:unmountable boot volume/kernel stack inpage error

have you tried either A) a new drive or B) a new cable?
a lot of these errors end up being hardware.

edit: just an additional thought.....that i/o address is really interesting. it's not memory. it seems as if to be your drive.
have you checked for boot sector viruses lately or viruses in general?

Hello,

I did the Windows 10 update on Wednesday morning. I was happy to find out that my Bluetooth continued to work and I could still use my mouse. Today (Friday) my mouse stopped working. I went into device manager and had a look at the Bluetooth adapter. It said the adapter had reported problems and it had been stopped. I restarted my laptop in the hope that the Bluetooth would work when I started it up again; it did not. I no longer see Bluetooth settings in my Windows settings app and whenever I try to use built in Bluetooth Settings desktop app it takes me to a wizard that says 'Installing the Bluetooth Driver'. I have left this wizard for multiple hours twice and it seems to get stuck about 15% of the way in. I also do not see the driver or adapter listed in device manager.
I understand that this could be the Bluetooth driver not playing nicely with Windows 10 but I am confused, mainly because it has worked for the last 2 days. I have tried to install the latest Bluetooth Stack released by Toshiba and it doesn't work. It goes through the first wizard fine but when opening the second wizard where it says it is installing the driver, it gets stuck. As I said before, I have left that wizard for a long time and there is no progress.
Any help is greatly appreciated and I am happy to give any more information if needed.

Joseph.

I tried to include as much detail as possible because I'm hoping against hope my HDD isn't fried, but my timeline might be a bit off. Where I'm at right now is that the laptop is sitting turned off with the hopes of recovering the data when my new one arrives in 2-3 weeks.

I have (had ) the latest version of avast! home edition and Sygate Personal Firewall, and used Firefox and was very much strict with my security (cookies, javascript, and flash were all blocked by default).

Logical Timeline
1.) I get a BSOD, giving me a message about a Kernal Stack Error.
2.) I restart the computer and it freezes after the BIOS progress bar indicates it finished loading
3.) I "restart" it (no restart button, need to turn on and off) and go into setup. It takes a while to load. It detects the HDD and everything appears fine.
4.) I restart again, it freezes again.
5.) I restart again, and go to boot setup menu. Internal HDD is not listed under choices to boot from.
6.) Restart again and go into setup again, HDD is not listed with hardware specs, it says 'None".
7.) Restart again with XP CD. I watch as it loads all the things on the CD, but when it gets to "Starting Windows" it freezes.
8.) Restart again. Go into Setup, and see the HDD is again listed, it has reappeared.
9.) Restart again. XP CD loads this time, and I click to repair an existing Windows XP install. It tells me it can't detect an HDD and can... Read more

I have a new T500 laptop that freezes each time I wake it from hibernation. I'm then forced to shutdown via the power button as even task manager won't work. I have been recieving related to admonitor.exe. Is this a typical issue and is it related to the fingerprint software? The machine is brand new with everything up to date so I don't suspect at all it's virus or spyware related. Thanks!

Answer:T500 freezes after hibernation

Admonitor.exe is related to the Lenovo Fingerprint Software.During startup the Windows welcome screen communicates with Admonitor.exe locally to faciliate the authentication of fingerprints. If a firewall blocks this connection, the software will become stuck at the welcome screen with the forever message of "Please wait" (suppose that you have Fingerprint Logon enabled)You will need to enable listening access and localhost communication permissions for Admonitor.exe. In addition, I would suggest that you uninstall the Lenovo Fingerprint Software completely and reinstall it with the latest version posted on the T500 website since there were some issues relating to sleep/hibernation that was fixed in the later version of the software.Good luck and let me know if this resolves your issue!

Hi, T500. The HDD started to fail some tests and Lenovo was kind enough to change it (still in extended warranty, 3 years). I performed ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery to transfer the stuff via DVDs to the new HDD. Everything is fine, but Startup->Hibernation doesn't work any more. It performs a Log Off. The Log Off per se, Sleep and other commands are acting properly. BTW, the C: and S: disks were left alone, but the labels of the Q: and E: disks (a separate partition I defined) were swapped. The contents are all there. Any ideas?

What operating system?  One of these procedures may help, although if you can see a hibernate option now, the symptoms aren't quite what you describe.

Windows 7 - Hibernate - Enable or Disable

Recently my T500 2089-2UG has been acting strange. Sometimes when I open the lid, it won't wake up from hibernation. Goes bleeping mad with the 1-3-3-1 beep sequence. It seems to be more frequent when I run on battery than AC. Only changes I've made resently is to upgrade BIOS to 3.01 and install power manager 3.01a. What I have ruled out so far is memory. Tried another pair of dimms (KTL-TP1066/2G). No change, 1-3-3-1 beep is still there. Even ran Memtest86+ for 11 passes without error. I also tried the Live Ubuntu 9.04 CD setting it up to suspend when I close the lid. First time I open the lid, it woke up normally. The second time, the screen went blank and no beeps! Num-lock seems to work, but closing the lid does not suspend. Better than Vista 64, but still in fault.  Remaining offenders: Bios 3.01?Sanoy 42T4503 Battery? (Barcode: 1ZESK88C1AR, serial# 1683)Motherboard?Vista 64 Power Manager drivers?Linux Power Manager drivers? So far I have spent 6 hours trying to solve this issue. Now I feel it is time to call it a day. Help! Anyone got a clue?

I enabled hibernation on my T500 / Vista Business SP1 system.  It appears to hibernate just fine, it appears to come out of hibernation just fine, but it seems to be using power while in hibernation.  The other day I put it into hibernation with a 100% charge in my 9-cell battery, and 12 hours later when I started the machine the battery was down to 87%.  Brand new system, brand new battery.  I guess either the system is still using power, or maybe I just have a bad battery. Has anyone else seen this?

Answer:T500 uses power during hibernation

Hello, Vista has a feature called hybrid sleep. It goes first to sleep and after a time to hibernation. That cause the battery drain. Disable it.  Ask Google for hybrid sleep and you´ll get plenty of answers, how to disable it.

Well I'm 19 and going to University in Ontario right now. My family has owned computers my entire life, and never had a problem. Believe it or not, since I've owned my OWN computer for the past 8 years or so, I've never had a problem with viruses, hardrive errors, nothing. 3 Months ago I started University and as one part of the tuition we pay roughly $1500 a year for a school-supplied laptop (new one supplied every 2 years), as well as all the engineering and misc. program licensing fees and what not. It just so happens that the T500 is the computer supplied to every student at my university. This is the worst computer I have ever owned, and I'm so furious with it that I'm tempted to switch over to Mac just because this computer is so awful. Remember, in 8 years of owning my own computer in my room, private to any other family members, I haven't had ONE problem. Three months into owning this laptop, it shuts down on me mid-assignment one night, and won't boot back up. It keeps sending me to a blue screen saying unmountable boot error. So I take it to the IT services at my school and after a week they tell me the C drive couldn't be saved, so ALL of my school work for that semester is GONE. It is now a week before finals, and I two weeks ago I was working on two different assignment with due dates approaching. Now with one week left I have to continue studying AND re-do the two assignments. Not to mention all my previous work is gone. I was told "you should have backed up you... Read more

Answer:T500 Unmountable Boot Error

Charles, welcome to the forum,

I'm sorry to hear about your problems, but blaming Lenovo for the failure of a component they purchased from another manufacturer seems a little unjust.

Hard drives fail, it's a fact which cannot be ignored. You seem to have been lucky in not having had any problems in the past eight years that you've owned your own computer. I'm actually surprised that you'd not heard about how to backup your important files, (not to mention why it's so important), during this time.

If you are considering getting a MAC, please keep in mind they can also suffer the same fate; see this article on the MacMedics site. It doesn't matter who the notebook manufacturer is, hard drive death is a fact of life! I'm sorry you're having to re-work everything, but there is only one person you need to ask where your data backups are.

Best regards

Answer:Set up a Bluetooth stack

Not sure exactly what you are trying to do. With Windows XP, Service Pack 2 implements native support for Bluetooth, otherwise the software supplied with the Bluetooth adapter needs to be installed. Installing third party software in a PC with XP SP2 can actually cause a conflict with the Windows' drivers.

I have 2 computers that I have completely reformatted & Clean Installed Windows 7 on them both. I Have 2 Seperate win 7 disk for them. 1 is a desktop, Other is Dell Inspiron 1545. After This They Both Hung Up. So For The Labtop, I Have Totally Reformatted Twice From Disk trying to fix this with no success. im stuck on internet explorer 8 and it wont let me go to almost none of the microsoft support pages to be able to run-try other fixes.
I have managed to run the sfc /scannow and it did not find any violations/problems.
I Have Also Downloaded The Stand Alone/Rediness Tool and ran it. It Still Just Says Searching For Updates. Not Sure What Else I Need To Do, Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated. Logs are attached.

Answer:windows updates searching, give error 80080005, back to searching

Hi Marie318 & welcome to SevenForums. I'll try to help you.
How long did you let windows update run? It sometimes takes hours usually 3-4 for the updates to appear. some reports of 24-48, but rare. SURT takes a while to complete, depending on the issues it finds.

I usually set my computer to sleep never, start windows update & call it a night. when I check in the morning, 200+ updates are ready to install. If you have 4gb of ram, choose about 100 or so & they should install, for the most-part. Trying to install all of them at once will most likely produce "out of memory" error. WU doesn't choose them in any particular order even though some are prerequisites for others. SP1 is a major one.

If you start task manager under the performance tab, while downloading updates, you will see the ram load. all updates are temporarily stored in ram until Windows verifies each update is complete & digital signature is valid.

Hello,Lenovo has exchanged my motherboard after a failed BIOS update (with guarantee, great and fast job). Now after booting Windows 7 32 bit with all Windows and Lenovo updates on the new motherboard the system fails to enter standby or hibernation mode. Am seeking help with the prospect of replacing the cpu fan on my T500 [2243-8YM].
Have done similar repair on a DV9000 so with manual and time on my hands; off I went.

Got the unit out; fan rotor was very stiff [did try to manipulate rotor as laptop was booting, got it moving but still error message] Tried blowing out all vent holes, dab of light oil on shaft and reassembled. Although fan started on its' own accord, it was not enough to stop the error message.

My concern is after having the unit in my hands and looking it over closely, I cannot see how the fan unit itself can be changed [the DV9000 had 2 very small phillips head screwa retaining the fan]. Cannot see any screws attaching fan to heat sink, but if new replacement fans are available on ebay, and they are, then they must be able to be replaced, n'est pas?

My only guess is that the small copper coloured tabs on the underside of the heatsink unit are pried open and voila` - away we go. But if that is the method, does the foil need to be retracted to gain access to any other retainers? Am really worried about causing damage to the foil, and the sealing foam around the vents.

Am attaching a picture, left image is the heatsink unit [where only 1 tab is visible] and the other image is a photo of the underside of a new fan. I have added arrows to indicate 4 likely tab locations. So am I right in assuming that the foil not only seals the vent but also secures the fan frame to the heatsink unit?... Read more

Hi there!

I have a problem with my :Logitech Dinovo Laser receiver.

It all started when I installed a program called motioninjoy (MotioninJoy | Playstation 3|Xbox 360|Dualshock 3|Sixaxis|Game|Driver|), which is a progrtam/driver that enables PS3 controllers (DS3) to be used on windows. Great little program, however I made a cock up during the installation. I also updated the bluetooth through the broadcom program that checks your device and updates the relevant software (was doing this to get the PS3 headest to work on my PC), however I think it is the former that is causing the problem.

When I installed it (on Monday I think), it said to remove all BT adaptors aprt from the one you wish to pair the DS3 with, as I only have one I kept it in. As you progress down the page, it tells you that you will change the adaptor so only the DS3 will connect to it! Which was a bit late. I uninstalled everything and it seemed fine. But since then I have lost all bluetooth functionality (have checked the setup on my netbook and everything is fine).

It started off with me not being able to add any devices via bluetooth, only the dinovo set would work. The logitech connection assistant cannot get me to a point where I can connect another device. I uninstalled the logitech setpoint software, and reinstalled it. Now it stalls when 'locating bluetooth radio' and I have nothing that resembles bluetooth in device manager either. But when I connect it, I just seem to have extra HID items. A fri... Read more

I have problems with WIDCOMM bluetooth stack on windows 7.

Not matter which version i install, from manufacturer CD or newest from broadcom website, stack wont show up. Drivers are installed fine and all WIDCOMM processes seems to be running in background, but there is no icon in tray, only windows default stack.

Am I doing something wrong or WIDCOMM in Win7 works that way?

I have Win7 x64 and Belkin bluetooth stick.

As you know I quad boot and this is happening in all my OS's for some unknown reason. As it first happened in Vista, that's why I'm asking here.

Everything was working fine as usual until I decided this morning that it was about time I looked at my Sandisk Cruzer Contour U3 drive and updated it's software.

Normally this is routine. however this time it caused Vista to immediately reboot. Since then my Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 KB & Mouse plus dongle may as well not exist - to make matters worse, in all my OS's. Thank God I keep my trusty old M$ basic optical mouse and internet keyboard connected just in case.

I've tried unplugging/replugging the dongle, rebooting etc. etc. but it's as if Windows doesn't want to know about it. There is nothing in Device Manager and when I scan for hardware changes it finds nothing.

Why, after months of trouble-free use, would this suddenly start?

I will admit that on occasion in the past inserting the U3 drive has caused a reboot and has even caused the mouse and keyboard to disconnect, but that has always been temporary and has remained a mystery to me and Bill Gates (I presume because M$ are useless when I ask them).

I'm hoping that. after a lengthy rest, i.e. turned off, Windows will forgive whatever transgression I'm guilty of, and decide to "see" the darn thing.

Addendum: I gave it a long rest while I went to shave an shower. Remembered that I had an identical MSFT BT 3.0 dongle from another... Read more

Answer:My Bluetooth Stack Seems To Have Vanished

Forget it, emergency over...not sure if it was the new dongle or reinstalling the software (Intellipoint/type), or both, that did it but it's now working in all my OS's after at least 2 million reboots, or so it seemed....!

The question iks why would a U3 USB drive cause such a mess in the first place?

I am running MS XP Home SP2 on my Notebook. I am assuming that I had the MS Bluetooth Stack installed, but having played around with a couple of Bluetooth USB Adapters, it seems that the MS Bluetooth Stack has been uninstalled - no Bluetooth option appears in Control Panel. As I am having no luck with the USB software (Blue Soleil), and have uninstalled it, I would like to re-install the MS Bluetooth Stack, but do not know how to. Can anyone assist ? Does XP HOME SP2 have this is it only XP PRO SP2 ?

Answer:Re-install MS Bluetooth Stack

Did you have the bluetooth device plugged into the computer when you tried to install the software for it? Sometimes there are special things to do when installing have you read the installation manual? Check your system specifications against the manual. How much Ram is there on your Notebook?

Sony Fe31ZI have ran the upgrade advisor on my sony fe31z and it tells me to uninstall the toshiba bluetooth stack. Can anyone tell me what is the toshiba bluetooth stack and what it will affect if i uninstall it? Is it not possible to just ignore it? I thought the fe31z was ready for upgrade so i wouldn't have to do anything to the computer before upgrading.Any help is much appreciated.

Answer:Toshiba Bluetooth Stack

Hey matmou =]I have the Sony FE31M, and I had the same message using the advisor in XP. Although I updated the driver by searching on Google for "Toshiba Bluetooth Stack Driver" (I think...), when I upgraded to Vista it installed its' own drivers for Bluetooth, and it seems to work just as well.I'd do what the advisor says and update it, just to be on the safe side.Hope this helps =]

Hi there,

I did buy an bluetooth stereo-headset and would like to use it with my Sony Vaio laptop. Yet pairing doesn't work, it doesn't get detected. Here are my questions:

1. Could it be, that my bluetooth mouse is at fault for this, is blocking it? I have it connected now (before trying it the first time) with the optional cable (it's a Razer Orochi). How can I know if I can exclude the mouse as an error source or not?

2. Are laptops "multipoint"-capable at all? (I bought my one soon after its release in Q1/Q2 of 2010!) My one has "Bluetooth? 2.1 + EDR". You find a screenshot of my Bluetooth-Hardware-ID attached. It's a Broadcom thingy, I just updated it with their tool (as a Sony update didn't help/wasn't available), yet this didn't help too.

3. I've heard that Microsoft Windows (7) does not natively support A2DP-capable bluetooth hardware (as my headset), is that true? In this context I heard too, that for compatibility, you need a "bluetooth stack" software which costs a dime? Is that true? Do I need it, where do I get it and which would be the suitable one for my laptop?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Kind regards

I have a W530 with "Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software" installed v 6.5.1.4500. I'm running windows 7 (unfortunately). Having just obtained some new bluetooth (4.1) headphones I've realised the audio stream doesn't offer any bass/treble controls or equalizer. The headphones are quite bassy, though sound EONs better via my iPhone . Are there any driver updates, or alternative drivers, or other software that would allow for frequency equalizer via the bluetooth hifi stream? Is there any change in this area in windows 10? (I can't upgrade due to corporate controls, but hopefully will soon) ThanksNigel.

Hi Everyone,

The specs of the PC

Dell Latitude
Windows XP SP3
WIDCOMM Bluetooth

I'm having a bit of a problem with a particular user pc. The user uses a Blackberry 8830. It came with a cd to installed the Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.6. It supposed to sync your emails calenders and contacts on your computer to the blackberry by using a USB or Bluetooth. I've got it to work with the USB but not bluetooth. I did alot of research online and found out that it only works with the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack Drivers. So I found this link below, if it will work on Windows Xp SP3.
http://www.msfn.org/board/XP-Bluetooth-Stack-t121082.html

But I'm little confues when it says

"I edited the XP Bluetooth driver INFs to add support for my radio. XP now treats the radio as a Bluetooth radio and the in-built stack works."

Where do I find the INFs and how to modify it?

On Window 7 the Broadcom bt stack allowed access to the text messages on my smartphone (Galaxy S4). Does anyone know why this feature was removed from their Windows 8.1 software? Any working alternatives for this?

The emasculated Vista Bluetooth stack has been the subject of ongoing debate since Vista's inception, and now it continues with Windows 7. (I multi-boot and I see the same issues in both OS's). The question has always been, why did Microsoft castrate their own stack and make it so difficult to use 2 different stacks simultaneously?

It worked fine in XP where I actually had 3 Bluetooth dongles all up and running....!

I'm using the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard & Mouse which use a v3.0 transceiver. It works fine if it's the only receiver.

My new PC also has a 28-in-1 media card reader w/Bluetooth (v2.0) in the 3rd optical drive bay, and I have to disable its driver or Microsoft gets all upset and wont come out and play. The reader uses Broadcomm drivers.

Has anyone got suggestions on this dilemma? If I can get them both to work together in Vista then I can do it in Windows 7...I hope.

I have downloaded and installed the Toshiba stack but still get the same error message.I then find out that I can only get a licence through the OEM supplier - Advent.

Hi, I just have installed a headset (BT8030 from Jabra) and I can't get the headset working on vista32 (I tried with bluesoleil also). I have all the packages related to bluetooth installed thanks to thinkadvantage update tool. When I try to install the bluetooth headset vista asks me for a "bluetooth peripheral device" which can't find the driver, therefore I can't get the device working. Some hint? (I have a thinkpad t400)

when Windows XP SP2 came out I disabled the bundled bluetooth stack right after installation. Now I wanna re-enable that stack. I already renamed the files in the INF folder (bt*.inf and bt*.pnf) but it didn't seem to enable it because I get that error message indicating it's not on/working when trying to search for a bluetooth device. Plus Bluetooth Radio isn't listed in Device Manager.

How do re-enable or re-install the built-in Windows Bluetooth stack?

Answer:Re-enabling Windows Bluetooth stack

okay, what about simply manually installing the Windows bluetooth stack?

Logitech MX 5000 Set and Toshiba Bluetooth Stack My logitech MX 5000 came with the Logitech Setpoint software which allowed me to pair up the Bluetooth dongle with keyboard and mouse through Microsoft's BT Device Wizard. However it was unable to sync with my headset so I switched to my Toshiba Bluetooth Stack so that I can pair up with the headset as well.

Now that I am using the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack, I lost the option of Logitech Setpoint to configure the keysettings (Media buttons) of my keyboard and mouse.

Are there any way to fix this?

Thanks
