T410 - Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradable

Question: T410 - Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradable

What does this mean? I ordered a T410 with this option and I would like to connect to my Verizon account- do I need a SIM card from Verizon to get mobile broadband to work. It appears no mobile hardwear is installed on the machine?? My x61 had the drivers and hardwear already installed - so this was previously very easy to do. Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: T410 - Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradable

Hi and welcome to the forum!Upgradable means that the internal antennas are installed inside, but you need physical Mobile Broadband card to use WWAN, the card can be bought from lenovo. I'm not sure about the SIM part though, isn't Verizon CDMA? were you given a SIM for your X61 from Verizon (given that you were using same connection)?

Hello,Ordered a laptop with this option. & have inserted a SIM card I used in my "old Sony laptop that I used for WWAN.What else is needed to connect? Thanks

Answer:What does " Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable" mean?

Hi rookie66, welcome to the forums,

it means that everything you need for broadband, WWAN, is present except the all important module which actually makes it all work.  The module can be purchased separately, or, on some systems the slot where it sits can be used for a solid state drive instead.

As you probably want to use WWAN, if you post which system you have members will be able to inform you exactly what you need to realise it.

Recieved my new X220 Tablet today (i7, 8GB, etc) and have to say its looks a nice bit of kit - only problem is I thought 'Integrated Wireless Broadband - Upgradable' - meant it had integrated WBB but you could choose upgraded hardware if you wanted - turns out what this really means is it has nothing unless you choose the Erricson device

Also, wish I hadnt upgraded the antennas as you lose the built in webcam - I didnt realise that by upgrading this component you lost what is essentially a given on most other laptops

Not a great start to ownership - I am about to try the pen to see if this is as bad as they say - if it is, its going straight back!

Most likely you're missing the internal broadband card. This can be purchased from Lenovo as an option.

Hi!I have previously successfully used my built in 3G modem in my T410, model 2537W6C with Win7 64bit. It's unclear why it has stopped working. I have not touched the SIM card. I don't recall messing with any drivers, broadband-related software, etc.  I have installed drivers "Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Modem 9205", version 2.0.7.4 (2011-05-09). The Lenovo "Wireless Radio" app (<Fn>-<F5>) shows Wifi, bluetooth and mobile broadband adapter installed, but only the first two can be toggled on/off. The mobile broadband is stuck in "off". If I press the button to Power on Wireless WAN Radio, the mouse cursor turns into an hourglass, but the WWAN symbol does not turn green (i.e. it is not turned on). I have Ubuntu installed on the same system as Dual boot. Mobile broadband used to work in Ubuntu, but does not appear in the available networks any longer. Please advise what more troubleshooting I could do, and how I can get my Mobile Broadband adapter back to life.

Answer:T410 mobile broadband

Helloo and welcomeAny chance the wwan card is captured by Linux' stand by mode while the system boots Windows? That might mean the card can't resume from one of the power mode.Thy to reset the BIOS/EC and laptop power circuits:unplug the power cable and battery, press the power button and hold it for 20...30 seconds. Enter the BIOS Setup, load and save default settings, check out the settings you prefer, save them. Boot laptop. These steps might help but not resove issue until you'll find the way how Linux interacts with modem.

I am trying to figure out the best configuration for my X1 Carbon tablet which I am planning to order. I have gotten stuck on the option for Integrated Mobile Broadband.I am based in Sweden, with a Telia subscribtion, and want to be able to slot a simcard into the computer. Which of the two options should I then choose (for some reason Lenovo completely refuses to answer this question in any other media (phone, email, distributor, etc) than in this forum so hopefully someone here can help me): * N5321 Mobile Broadband HSPA+* LTE Sierra EM7345 Thx!

Greetings:Does it make sense to get the Integrated ____ (Verizon, AT&T, etc.) Mobile Broadband add on or is it more economical to get a USB or express card later on?Does integrated mean built in as it relates to this issue?Thank you.

Peter M. AbrahamDynamic Net, Inc.

Answer:What is the value of the Integrated Mobile Broadband add on?

The value is for people whom knows definitely that they are going to use mobile broadbands, in addition the reception using the integrated system would be better than the external usb plugins (most of them anyway), if you only occasionally use mobile broadband then some people would suggest an external one. It really depends whether you are a road warrior that need constant mobile internet access.

why lenovo omitted Integrated Mobile Broadband options such as Ericsson F5521g with 21Mbps D/L and Gobi 3000 from its list for customising a thinkpad T-420? and what people do now ( without those modules)  if they want to use a simcard for connecting to internet whenever they carry their laptop and need web services?

I just received my new T500 laptop with integrated AT&T mobile broadband card.  There are no instructions (i.e. printed material, installation CDs, or on-screen messages) on how to activate this feature.  I currently use the AT&T service on my T61 laptop using a broadband modem card plugged in to the side of the computer.  This laptop came with an integrated Verizon mobile broadband card and every single time I boot up a message comes up asking if I want to activate / subscribe to the Verizon service.  No such message (for AT&T) comes up on my new T500. Can anyone provide me with step-by-step instuctions on how to get set up and going?  Also, are there any AT&T broadband service users who can share any helpful tips in transferring an existing service from one computer to another? Thanks in advance for any help!

Answer:How do I Activate (Integrated) AT&T Mobile Broadband Card on T500?

"Also, are there any AT&T broadband service users who can share any helpful tips in transferring an existing service from one computer to another?" Just move the activated SIM card.  I have one activated SIM card that I move between a T60 and a T61 as required. Both of these machines have internal integrated Sierra cards, though. Have to remove the batteries while moving the SIM card. As far as activating service on your new T500, you should be able to do that by calling AT&T Wireless. Two people in previous threads on this forum have gone that route. Centex

When I ordered my T410s, I chose the "upgradeable" option.  What does that exactly mean?  Does this mean that I have all the hardware already pre-installed, and I just need a SIM card and a service plan?  I noticed what appears to be a SIM card slot underneath the battery.  Should have thought ahead when I ordered the ThinkPad and had them set it up ready to go from the beginning.  Thanks.

Answer:Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradeable vs. Gobi 2000

Upgradable means you have the SIM slot and built-in antenna, but need to insert a WWAN mini PCI adapter like the Gobi 2000. So you have all the hardware except the WWAN adapter. The WWAN adapter is easy to insert and not that expensive to buy so it's no big deal, but if you are going to use mobile broadband you could as well have bought the Gobi 2000 instead of upgradable. You need a SIM card and a plan as well from a mobile network operator in your country. -gan

Can someone confirm for me that ordering this will get me an Ericsson F3507G?  I have been told from our I.T. purchasing that it will be an Option card and he can get it cheaper and install himself.  I am trying to replicate a previously purchased unit  that is out in the field, for testing. Thanks

If you are configuring that in the online store, the "Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)  [add $80.00]" will be the F3507G, unless there has been a recent change. Amazing if your IT guy can go through the purchasing cycle, install, and test, for less than that.

Hello All: I can't get the GPS location feature working on my new W520 (4270-CTO).  The device did work once, the first day I had the computer (before running Microsoft Update and Lenovo Update), however, it has not worked since then. I've tried everything I can think of - removing and re-installing all the software, double-checking the BIOS, looking for device driver problems - but no luck.  When I launch the 'GPS Enabler' application, all I see is 'Satellite Acquisition in progress...".  I know the laptop can see the satellite constellation because I have a small hand-held GPS beside the laptop, and it has an excellent view of the satellites.  So does my Blackberry. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP 1 (what the computer shipped with).  I've installed the 83wo13ww driver package (nominally version 6.4.1.6, according to the readme file, but displayed as driver version 1.4.0.5 in the properties sheet of the driver when viewed via the Device Manager); the 83wa20ww Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation package ( version 4.0.0020); and the 83gp31ww ThinkVantage GPS package (version 2.72). I'm running Access Connections 5.84 (build 83c755ww), which I believe is the current release.  I have placed a SIM card in the slot in the back of the computer, and when I launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation, it shows all the appropriate information (IMEI, ICCID, etc.) for the SIM card... Just a postscript - I have found another discussion from about 18 months ago that mentions similar problems with a W500 and a T500.  One of the participants in that discussion suggested that improper assignment of COM ports might be the cause of the problem... but, if that is so, how does one go about re-assigning the two ports used by the GPS?  The picture I provided (link is above) shows that my W520 is using COM ports 10 and 11 for the GPS.  I have no idea at all how to change this port assignment. Here's the link to the prior discussion: W500 GPS Problem Regards, Michael

I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.

The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.

Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.

Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Everything else works fine with the W530. I've owned ThinkPads exclusively since the first one ever came out. I've never not been able to connect to mobil... Read more

I've been looking into buying a laptop with an internal WWAN card built in.  I'm interested in using either Verizon's current 4G LTE network or AT&T's future network once they've started rolling it out later this year. Most of the 3G WWAN cards that I've seen have 2 antenna connections.  The only WWAN card that I've found that currently implements 4G LTE is the MC7750 aircard from Sierra Wireless (see http://www.sierrawireless.com/en/productsandservices/AirPrime/Wireless_Modules/High-speed/MC7750.asp... ). These newer 4G LTE cards require 3 antennas!  You can see that both from the downloadable specs on that webpage, and in the picture of the WWAN card.  The 3 antenna connection points are visible on the top left of the MC7750 card. I know that some of the Wi-Fi WLAN cards currently have 3 antennas, so an ideal machine would have a total of 6 (3 WWAN, 3 WLAN) plus perhaps a separate Bluetooth antenna too. Do any Lenovo ?Broadband upgradable? laptops currently have this many antennas?

Answer:Does "Broadband Upgradable" mean it’s upgradable to 4G?

Hello,

I haven't seen any laptops with LTE mini-PCIe cards in them yet. I would imagine that for now you would have to obtain the appropriate cable and manually route it through the chassis and behind the LCD.

I just got my new T410 within the last week. Everything was just working fine before today. I found the camera not working any more when I started video chat in Skype as usual. At first I thought it might be caused by the conflicts between the camera and some other newly installed programs, so I just deleted the camera driver and reinstalled it. the situation was just the same. I've also tried reinstalling drivers of older versions, but nothing changed. Now I am guessing there might be a hardware breakdown inside there. Anyone has met similar symptom? BTW, my OS is Win7 x64 Pro.

Dear all,I bougt a T410 laptop two month ago. But there is always a graphics problem. When I use it to watch video (720P) or play games (DOTA), the video always lags, and is not fluency. I have set the lowest resolution (about 600, color is 16) when I play games. I also updated the drivers for BIOS and graphics. I even restored the system, and then updated drivers. These did not work. The parameters of my laptop are as following: Intel Core i5-520M Processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz FSBGenuine Windows 7 Home Premium 32Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 5700MHD - AMT4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM) I think the laptop should be good enough to watch 720P videos and play low resolution games (DOTA). Is there any other potential problems that can cause such problems? Many thanks.

Answer:T410 integrated graphics problem

I've god the same issue as you do. A lot of us does. T410s 2494-93G with switchable graphics does behave as yours. I often have too reboot my PC and the problem is bigger than only the graphic cards, I belive. Powerconsumption is very high and I have at top most, 1,5 hours batt life. That's crap vs my old T400s. When I turn off the Nvidia card in BIOS, I can't use docking or external monitor. Screen goes black and I can only use the laptop. There are some fixes and workarounds, but nothing official from Lenovo. There are reports that this does only happen with Win7. I'm very dissapointed and are thinking about getting my old T400s back. At least it worked for me all the times and I had decent batt life.

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

Hey guys, Sorry if this seems to be a topic that pops up over and over on the internet. I've been digging around a lot and have failed to find any definite answers to this question. It seems like some review sites are saying that the T410 has no problem with 1080p playback but doesn't specify the exact specifications for the machines tested for video playback. There is also a guy on youtube who posted a video review of 720p and 1080p playback from a T410 i3 integrated and says that video playback was fine for 720 but choppy for 1080; however, when peopel recommended coreAVC, no response was given. Can anyone here give me their experience with 1080p playback with integrated graphics on a T410? And also another quick question, I'm aware that the displayport to hdmi will carry audio as well, but for the video, does it carry the raw HD content, or is it scaled down. Thanks very much indeed!

Answer:T410 i3, integrated graphics, 1080p playback

1. The T410 with i3 CPU runs the 1080p playback fine, whether or not it is choppy depends on the quality of the encoding and what player is used. The integrated GPU is designed for hardware decoding of the 1080p videos in Blu-ray.

2. The displayport will carry the specific video size that you specify in the windows. It can support WQXGA resolution. But if you specify the output to 1920 x 1080 then it would do so at that resolution.

Summary: T410 can support two external display with just the integrated/embedded Intel GPU and  without a dock(1) one external analog monitor connect to VGA port; and one DVI (digital) monitor connect to displayport(2) DisplayPort to DVI cable matters; the best option is perhaps DP to DVI single link cable Details:(1) DVI/Digital might not be hot pluggable; if system does not see a DVI monitor attached after system is on, try again with monitor attached before turning on T410      you might be able to force output to VGA port in Control Panel /Display, but the driver won't allow force display out to digital monitor if the system does not see one. (2) I have tried two type of DP to DVI connectors and three different monitors (two Dell 1280x1024 and one LG W2343T-PF 1920x1080p)     first connection is a DP to DVI Dual Link (24+1) cable, it works only on Dell monitors; on LG, my T410 could not detect the existence of the external digital monitor.     second connection is comprised of two parts:               - Lenovo Display Port to Single Link DVI (female), P/N 45J7915               - a male/male DVI dual link cable (24+1)      this second connection works for all three monitors I tested Further thought on connecting DVI to T410:&nb... Answer:the integrated webcame is not detected in bios T410

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that webcam of your Lenovo ThinkPad T410 is not getting detected in BIOS.

Are you sure that your system was shipped with a camera? Enter the MTM number of your system in Lenovo Support page and check the specifications of your device.

If camera had stopped working suddenly, it could probably be a cable issue. Try reseating the cable. Please refer the hardware maintenance manual which will shows you how to take perform disassembly of the system and where the components are located.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hi all,I have issues getting mobile (3/4g) broadband to work with my new T470 Thinkpad. In Ubuntu, the Fibocom Adapter is only detected as a generic MBIM adapter, and although Network Manager (and it's applet) display my network provider, the connection is not established, and the system process mbim-proxy is hanging at 100% CPU. This issue has been reported here (but seems to remain unsolved ?) : https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg158286.html Did anyone get this to work?Best whishes and thanks for any hints!

I am considering purchasing a T410 with integrated graphics, but I need to make sure it will support dual digital displays (with a dock of course).  I use a T500 for work, and when I switch to the integrated chip, I am unable to use dual monitors. Can someone confirm that the T410 (integrated graphics) can use dual digital displays with a dock?

Answer:T410 Dual monitor support with integrated graphics

Depends on the dock, and depends on the monitors. Which are you thinking?

I bought my T410 2522W2A (i7-620M) in 2010. I bought it thinking it had switchable graphics. Note, not realtime (Optimus), but just a BIOS option that allowed me to not use NVIDIA and use Intel HD permanently. The option was not there. I read lot of phorums and information was confusing, so I emailed Russell Compton, who at the time was Senior Marketing Manager/Think Product Group and he replied "just go here and there in the BIOS and switch it". I emailed him back screenshots of my BIOS (option was not there) and he never replied back. The best two threads of the topic are:http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/Why-Integr-Video-of-T410-is-INACTIVE/td-p/3...and some attempts to mod the BIOS:http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-ThinkPad-T410-T510-Intel-IGP-Optimus-Unlock-Request I was never able to find an official statement from Lenovo. I repeat, I never expected Optimus. Just a way to use the integrated graphics instead of NVIDIA. But Lenovo never confirmed or denied anything. In Germany, lot of distributors did market the product as having integrated graphics at the time. My question is whether anyone managed to do some progress here? EPROM/BIOS hack, even replacing some hardware component? This is not the only dissapointment I had with the laptop. I have a X220 (Intel HD) and the experience is so different: great dock, fast, responsive, battery still works, while the T410 experience was: slow (i7!!), noisy fan, overhea... Read more

Answer:Any news/update on the T410 integrated graphics hoax?

According to your MTM this is the machine you have:

ThinkPad T410 (2522-W2A)
i7-620M(2.66GHz), 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, 256MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 3100M, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn, WWAN option, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ether, UltraNav, Sec Chip, FPR, Camera, 9c Li-Ion, Win7 Pro 64
I may be wrong, but I was of the opinion that only the Optimus models allowed to change the graphic card between Nvidia<>Intel. You seem to have an Nvidia only model (not all Nvidia are Optimus), hence no options to change the graphs will be available in your BIOS

Now if your fan is noisy and your notebook overheats I would start thinking on replacing the fan and/or renew the thermal paste. I also think that if the computer is slow it may be a software issue. I have a couple of T400's that run very well with the same RAM and Windows version. And they're a generation older than yours...

My 2 cents...

Hi  Have spent an hour going round and round in circlesI cannot find the camera in control panel .  There is no "scanners and cameras".  The camera works when I use skype but there seems no way of saving a picture from skype so I can use it for instance to upload to a website where I need a photo for the photo card.  I have downloaded the driver and device manager is showing the integrated camera with not exclamation mark.  I have tried to find info via Thinkvantage but nothing.  So how do I access the camera to take a picture! PLEASE HELP! Matthew

Answer:How to use and save pictures from integrated camera on t410 win7

Have you tried the combination Fn+F6? If it doesn't work, then you may have to install the "Hotkey features integration" software as well as the "Thinkvantage Communications Utility" and you will be able to use that feature.

If i use it, and after a random time, the webcam just disappears from the device manager and i can't use it anymore, the only solution i found is rebooting. After using my T410 for only ~6 days, Windows reports an hour less in available battery when charged to 97%. Previously this percentage would report as much as 6 hours and 30 minutes, now it says 5 hours and 10 minutes. Here is my power plan; Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Answer:Drop In Battery Life After 1 Week? - T410/9Cell/Integrated GFX

I have wild reports of remaining battery life with my laptop. Although that's probably because like you, I've only recently received it.  Also Ive never used it consistently from full battery to empty.  There were times I'd look at remaining battery and It would tell me I have 2 hours left, but then I keep using it-- and 20 mins later I have approx 4 hours remaining lol. The software is probably trying to learn or adjust the "battery remaining" depending on how much power the system currently uses and adjusts the time remaining accordingly.  I set mine up so it just displays the % charge left instead of time left.  Seems more useful that way.

Hi MarkinIt, Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with no Display when connected to docking station on your ThinkPad T410.

Have you checked updating the Intel graphic driver from Lenovo support site?
Please provide the current Graphic driver version showing in device manager.
Is the system having Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS?

Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Hello, After upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 on Lenovo T410, when I try to use the camera I get the message on Windows Camera app: We can't find your camera - Error code: 0xA00F4244(0xC00DABED). Also no other application (Skype, Yahoo, etc) can't find the camera, despite the fact that this is available without any error in Imaging Devices - Integrated Camera. What I tried by now:  - Stopped antivirus and firewall to exclude any possible blockage on that side - Uninstall/reinstall the driver in Device Manager (I downloaded the driver for Win10 from Lenovo Support site) - Run Windows Troubleshooter (no issue found) - uninstall Windows Camera app (WindowsPowershell) and reinstall it from the Store - checked all the camera settings and privacy settings (Settings-Privacy-Camera + Other Devices) - System scan (sfc /scannow). Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. - Latest Windows updates are installed Is there any compatibility issue between T410 and Windows 10? Can you help with any idea? I'm out of ideas. Please help!  P.S. After upgrade I also had issues with the microphone, but after I applied some fixes described here, I fixed it

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago. When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately, that has not been appearing since the last few days. I checked my hardware and it appears that there still is a 'Smart Card' but with no information regardin it. I also checked the HP Support Assistant and HP Utility Center but they had nothing. I have tried removing the card and placing it back again. In fact, I suspect that it maybe the new updated drivers that caused my T-mobile SIM card to be disabled. I have tried calling HP support but they cannot help and demand payment for 'advanced tech support' when my Laptop is still under Warranty. I tried calling T-mobile, but they said that it was a problem that I needed to contact HP for. I contacted Microsoft that said I need to get in touch with T-mobile. Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering what the equivalent of my laptop's Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset would be. And would it be able to run games such as The Movies and Age of Empires 3? Thanks in advance. (I know integrated cards are not for game...)

Pretty bad for gaming...
Even a super basic fx5200 64bit blows it away in some cases. In others it's a little faster.

It might run those games, but they likely will be very slow, possibly unplayably slow.

What i'm experiencing is that in the wireless connection status window / mobile broadband tab , under the connection status i see that it has recognised the t-mobile network i should be able to connect to. It says that i have a working connection for minutes with a good quality signal, but when i actually try to connect through the acces connections i get the error message of "connection failed" and i have the two options: "help me fix this" and  "close" after i chose the help it goes to the diagnostic tools where the connection status is "not connected" cause "service provider not found" ...then i go to the "sign-up and support" button which leads me to the mobile broadband connect window where i get the following error "no wireless mobile broadband device found" and at the background it also says mobile broadband device not found.

I have tried to reinstall all the drivers and softwares replacing them with the latest ones which didn't have any effect on my problem.

Question: Mobile Broadband

I have mobile broadband with 3. Today I tried to connect and did so successfully. However, when I check the connection to see my how my usage was going my 3 connection manager told me I was not connected? How can this be? I am connected to the internet via my USB 3 modem not wifi and am surfing the net.Can anyone help me understand this?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

When you install the 3 Mobile Broadband software, an entry is added in the Network Connections folder for a "Dial-up" connection. If you double click this, you will connect without having to use the Connection Manager, which may still show you as *NOT* connected, even though you are.Additionally, if the Mobile Broadband is set as your default connection and in "Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections" you have selected either...- Dial whenever a network connection is not present- Always dial my default connection...then as soon as you run a program that requires internet access (web browser, email etc), the Mobile Broadband will connect.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I will be moving from the rented house I've been in for 21 months into a new house in the next couple of months. The house is a new-build and I will obviously not have broadband to start with - don't know if I'll have a phone line straightaway yet. I am trying to work out the best way to get online during this time.I am in the UK.

I went in to an O2 shop today and they were trying to sell me a dongle which cost £20 and then £2 a day, £7.50 for a week and £15 for a month. This would get over my immediate problem of geing broadband-lacking when I move but wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a dongle with x amount of Gbs (to be decided) which doesn't have clock running on it. So, after I've stopped needing it at the new house, I could take it out and about with me on my laptop whenever I wanted and when it ran out I'd top it up.

Does such a deal exist and, if so, what size in Gbs would be OK? We use aroung 10Gb per month on average but that's with the kids looking at YouTube, using iPlayer a bit so assume that just a bit of surfing would need less? Thanks for any help.

Answer:Mobile broadband Pay-as-you-go?

Hi,
I use '3' mobile broadband all over UK. £10 per month, 1gb which is plenty for an hour or so a day surfing plus emails.

I think in a new build you'll soon have utility providers beating a path to your door!!

Question: Mobile broadband

I bought a Lenono Thinkpad Edge E530c and would like to use the internal 3G mobile connecting. I inserted my sim into the sim slot under the batery compartment but its not working.  It looks like the drivers are missing. When I start the Mobile connection app it give me "No Wireless Mobile Broadband device found." When I go look in the device manager I cant see any modems installed. So how do I make use of the 3G sim slot to connect to the internet? I also downloaded some bluetooth / modem drivers for my series but nothing seems to work. Please help.

Answer:Mobile broadband

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad E530c, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Answer:Mobile Broadband

You would not be able to use your 3 mobile Broadband abroad as difference country uses difference system via their mobile network, you will also need an account with the local broadband supplier Mobile roaming calls worldwide is difference than mobile broadband Most International telephone companies have an agreement between themselves that will allow you to use your local mobile phone on there local network and charge you roaming fees from 80% - 175% above the normal cost some also charge you both ways, for receiving a call or a text message and when you make a call

hey extin, welcome to the forums.hard for me to say if a driver is needed or not. The unit of yours, is it running on XP on Win7 ?If it is on XP, a high chance you may need a driver. I would then suggest that you get in contact with the mobile broadband vendor and check with them.

Question: Mobile broadband

Hi By default the Mobile broadband card in my X301 is turned off. Is it possible to turn in on by default when Windows start ups

Answer:Mobile broadband

It has to be mentioned as matter of disclaimer really since this forum is innundated with users who mistakenly believe they're x was GSM / CDMA equipped when they notice the SIM card slot under the battery. Most X's have the SIM slot but this seems standard regardless if the user configured or will have it installed. Assuming you spec'd your for the card and aren't being hopefully confused by spotting the slot....1. Check your BIOS setting to ensure the card is enabled2. check devmgmt.msc for the WiFi or "MobileBroadband" category since the category isn't standard and verify the card is properly installed and enabled / if it is then verify in the cards Advanced properties to ensure the OPERATING SYSTEM DOESN'T TURN OFF THE CARD TO SAVE POWER !!!! Still failing then contact tech support or reply with the rest of the story and whatever inordinary things you've done to this thing because the manufacturers and cellular providers along with Lenovo's group have worked extraordinarily hard to even COOPERATE IN DETERMINING CONFIGURATION AND RARE FOR  SO MANY THINGS TO COME TOGETHER SO WELL IN LAPTOP AS DO BROADBAND CARDS. The cards monthly subscription costs and cellular usage penalties has forced them to behave so cohesively when delivering the option since the type of person who buys a broadband card expects it to work and work out of the box. If you could take an official or even unofficial survey of what kind of hardware failure makes end users and prosum... Question: mobile broadband

Hi all, i am a first time user to having a laptop, i want to get broadband for it and it to be pay as you go, what do you suggest. also someone told me a can connect it to my desktop broadband, how would i be able to do this if so it wouldn't be mobile would it?. i'm with virgin with my desktop computer.

Answer:mobile broadband

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I assume you live in the UK like me so I think I can help.

I use 3 mobile broadband which in my opinion is the best of the PAYG tariffs. You can buy a dongle which is the expensive bit or if you have an unlocked 3G phone which allows tethering you can use that if you know how to set it up.
You get 150MB of free data when you top up (minimum ?5 in store, ?10 online) plus it also works as a phone if you want it to.
This 150MB of data lasts 90 days or until you use it all up.
This means it works out you spend ?1.66 for 50MB of data every month, which if you have static broadband at your home should be enough. If you ever use more than this just top up more regularly.

For more info (and probably a much clearer explanation visit 3 - Pay As You Go - SIM Only - Free stuff - Free stuff with every top-up)

I don't know too much about Virgin medias mobile broadband but a good place to start would be here Mobile Broadband - Broadband - Virgin Media

Hope this helps, Oli.

EDIT: After reading your post more carefully, it sound like your do not have your Internet connection going into a Wireless router and then to your laptop and desktop.

This suggests to me that your Virgin Contract may be quite old as all new tariffs include a free Wireless router and setup, not to mention less to pay per month (I went down this road with BT, tripled my connection speed, got a load of free stuff and I now pay ?10 less per month.)
Have a look at http://allyours.virginme... Read more

Question: mobile broadband

HiI'm having a problem with mobile broadband on our x200 laptops After a period of use the HSPA Mobile broadband becomes grayed out. On investigation it seems like the entire ericsson network adaptor has been removed as it has gone from device manager and it re detected . Reinstalling the driver makes no difference . The wireless and Lan connections are not afffected . On rebuilding the laptop the network adaptor returns so it does exsist on the laptop This is happening over multiple laptops . We have a locked down user profile so users would not be able to removed the hardware . Has anyone seen this before ?? Peter

Question: Mobile Broadband

Hi,Slightly hijacking the thread...I too live in a rural area (Ewelme in Oxfordshire). Our problem is that the exchange is the other side of the Thames and the Council will not let BT place more cabling over the bridge or under the Thames - so some users have Broadband others do not (only at 1mbps).Mobile signal is atrocious indoors, can barely get a signal and 3G is non-existant. However, outside and a few yards down the drive 3G kicks in.Therefore my question is: Is it possible to get a High Gain aerial and have that connect to the 3G dongle to access a better signal inside the house? If so, does anyone know how, and which equipment is required?I work in Kent and really would like to be able to work from home occasionally to avoid the 200 mile round trip every day to the office.ThanksJ

Answer:Mobile Broadband

Don't think there is any way you are going to get it, until Gov makes a move on all UK being able to get BB. This they are wanting to do. And charge everybody for the extra installation. About £6 to £8 a year. One of the things they are doing is laying Fiber Optics in Sewer Pipes

Hello, I purchased a T400s in the UK which came with a Vodafone SIM inside it for mobile broadband. However, due to some error, this SIM never was activated and I can't use it. I'm wondering if I can purchase a mobile broadband SIM from T-Mobile (or indeed anyone else) and use it with integrated SIM component of the laptop - does anyone know if this would work just fine, or would any hardware or software modifications be required? (I have a clean install of Windows 7 on the laptop.) Thanks for any input, /vijayan

Answer:Mobile broadband SIM

Will work, if you will have SIm card with 3G activated. If you have model F3507g, then this is Erricson hardware and if you are not fun of Access Connections tool of Lenovo (i do not use this tool), then i can recommend you simple tool directly from Ericsson http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilebroadband/download/wirelessmanager/gc83?lc=en&cc=us

Question: mobile broadband

Hi I am using vodafone mobile broadband while on holiday. I am able to receive emails but am having a problem sending them. There is no error message it just times out. I have rebooted laptop but am getting nowhere - had the same problem a few weeks ago - the email i was sending just sat in my outbox until I got home. Any suggestions appreciated

Answer:mobile broadband

The general rule is that you must send mail using the SMTP server of the ISP with which you are connected to the internet. At the moment, that means using Vodafone's SMTP server. Your email program will almost certainly be configured to use the SMTP server of your home broadband provider, which won't work with the Vodafone connection.

Answer:Mobile Broadband

If you didn't fit mobile broadband card yourself you havn't that card in your laptop from the factory. It's wwan ready only, i.e.has internal wwan antennas and sim card holder. If you'll decide to buy and insert wwan card you have not to download and launch application from Lenovo site "Mobile Broadband". It's for simless CDMA/EV-DO networks only.

Did you configure it with the Gobi 3000 card? If you did call Lenovo and they should send you out the missing SIM card. Hit Fn+F5 and check for the Wireless WAN option in there.

Hi Swathu,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Are you sure that your model has been shipped with WWAN card from the factory?

If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband. Also, install Think Vantage Access connections to handle various wireless profiles.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hi, I've a Lenovo S10-3 to which I've fitted an Ericsson F3607GW wwan card for Lenovo notebooks FRU: 60Y3237.  I bought the card from Hong Kong via Ebay.  I downloaded driver 83W013WW.exe from the Lenovo site and it allows me to connect in areas of 3G coverage. Unfortunately we don't have full 3G coverage in Australia and in my home region there is only a GSM signal and the card will not connect to it, although my old usb plug in modem works fine!  According to the Ericsson data sheet the F3607GW has the full range of frequency bands avilable - so it should work! I see that other drivers and the Ericsson broadband Manager are available and would welcome help in what drivers/broadband managers to use.  I have read on other forums that some other modems require the region to be set to '3' to allow proper working in Australia. I would welcome advice on which drivers/manager etc to use to get the card working properly in Australia. If anyone has experience with the GPS capability of this card I would like to learn how it was done - that's the next step after getting the wireless broadband function to work! Looking forward to some good advice! Rogerf

OK, I asked a question before and got one response...but not answers. This should be simple.1. I have been using the mobile broadband on my T410 for 3 years. It worked fine.2. I did a major windows update.3. Mobile broadband has gone. There is nothing! COmputer says there is no sim card. (there is a sim card and I reinserted it)4. FN F5 bring up no mobile broadband.5. I am paying my $30/ month and have had nothing for past 4 months!!! its killing me. 6.  It worked once for 3 years. Now it does not work. I tried reinstaling the software and it gets almost rhrough and says "There is no mobile sim card installed in this computer"!! Ugggh!!!!7. Lenovo support is useless. Even tho I only annoyed them one time with a problem in 3 years of service contract, my contract ended a couple months ago....so no help there....I have spoken to a dozen people and none have a clue what to do. Surely someone out there has seen or heard about this? My computer cannot be convinced that mobile broadband should be allowed to work!!   HELP!

Answer:Mobile Broadband....need help - its gone...!

I'm the person who responded before. Could anyone who has mobile broadband and who has kept all the various Microsoft and Lenovo updates current tell us that their WWAN is still working? It seems odd if Wombat and I both had a hardware failure at the same update time, but I suppose it could happen. PS My card is an Ericsson 3507

Answer:S12 Mobile broadband

Hi and welcome there.. i heard not about the first time this question.. Al what i can say is the best compatible WWAN card is the SE F3507  ...and not all cards will work overall (different / newer Card-Firmware) even when you buy a Lenovo card (used by some thinkpads/S10 with 3G/S10-2 with 3G)
second is more difficult have to disassemble your Ideapad ... you need to install a antenna in LCD frame (loose warranty)...
and the third barrier is under windows till now not correct working scenario (even with the actual drivers) ...
Hints for try out upgrading/opening S12  here in this part of forum ... same for tryout upgrading wwan card...

Greetings, I just got a W510 and noticed the SIM card slot on the back, under the battery. I put the SIM card from my cell in, and booted back up - but I didn't see any options for the mobile broadband. So how the heck does this whole setup work? I didn't see a user manual with the laptop.

Answer:W510 Mobile Broadband How-To?

ao125, welcome to the forum,

not all W510 system have integrated WWAN, maybe yours doesn't? It may however be upgradeable. If you enter your  Type and Model Number on this site (right column in the box for select your system), you will then be presented with a description of your main components and be able to see if it has WWAN, is upgradeable or doesn't have it.

If you are unsure, post your type and model number here and other members will surely be able to help. Please do NOT post your s/n. If the model number ends in CTO there should be another number underneath the CTO, please post that.

Hi All, I have been having a horrible time with Mobile Broadband on my Helix (36894uu). After updating to Win 8.1 I have been unable to connect.  Device manager shows a Sierra Wireless EM7700 using Microsofts driver 6.3.9600.16384 and generic mobile broadband adapter.  I have installed the Seirra driver package from the Lenovo support site multiple times, but the driver never changes.  Windows shows "no service" under mobile broadband.  Running the Windows diagnostic says "The Mobile Broadband device is locked with SIM PIN2".  I have gone to AT&T, they say there are no problems with the SIM or my account and the technician I worked with did not know what a SIM PIN2 was.  Has anyone else experienced any mobile broadband issues since updating to Win 8.1?  Thanks!

Are there any Lenovo engineers on the board that have knowledge of the GOBI WWAN chipset? The GOBI website lists the newer T series as machines that support GOBI, but no one at the support line knows anything about GOBI. I need to know if the Verizon UNDP card is actually a GOBI card before I order it, and if it will work with my 2765-T2U. I want to use Sprint here in the states, but I am going to Europe in two weeks and I want to use an HSDPA carrier such as Vodaphone while I'm there. I dont know if I should order the card because I cant seem to confirm anything at all. The phone support people are nice but admit to knowing nothing about it..I've talked to several of them and they told me to come here and find an engineer! Thanks for any help you might provide! Matt
