I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Qualcomm Gobi Broadband Wireless

Bevpro, If everything is correctly installed, then you should be able to connect using Lenovo Access Connections. I have the same card, and I'm able to connect via Access Connections. Access Connections (Advanced view) should have two profiles:HSPA Mobile Broadband -- this is the one for AT&TVerizon WirelessSelect HSPA Mobile Broadband profile, and it should walk you through connecting to AT&T. Good luck,

Hi all,I've just got a new T410s notebook. It's very good, but unfortunately it doesn't include the built-in mobile broadband.I've tryed to install the Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband which I took away from my old X200, but it seems that the T410s doesn't recognize it! I've no error, no warning messages, but any new device appears (I've also tryed to install every drivers)I would like to know if Ericsson F3507g is a compatible device or if I am forced to buy the Qualcomm Gobi 2000 Mobile Broadband, so as defined in the shop.lenovo web site.Thank you all in advance,Valerio

Answer:Qualcomm Gobi 1000 and GPS

You need to install Thinkvantage GPS software, but without phone provider, it will work like a stand-alone GPS (outside with line-of-sight to satellites).

Ok I have a Lenovo X220, upgaded over time with bigger hard disk before I installed SSD Fixed the BIOS as I detest whitelists to the point of astro blue bonnet rage Ordered up a new bluetooth 4.0 daughter board to modernize, too many devices want BT 4.0 now and now i see BT 5 is upcoming with more hardware woes I have a Gobi 2000 card, Intel AC-7260 card, so when i get all the parts, I will be doing some surgery. I have also discovered that 60Y3183 is the lenovo version of the Gobi 2000 but mine is a generic one for any machine what wants the action the Gobi 2000 has GPS caability so I was wondering if there is any software for the X220 I can use to leverage it over what Windows 10 has? Wiring up the WAN card with a SIM card, where can I place the SIM card?

> the Gobi 2000 has GPS caability so I was wondering if there is any software for the X220 I can use to leverage it over what Windows 10 has?not a location application is a problem. Gobi 2000 GPS receiver should be turned on in order to use it. Under win7 this action performs Lenovo application "GPS Enabler". But it's missing for win8/10. I didn't test it under win10 in the compatibility mode either.Another way to control the GPS receiver is to use AT commands.> where can I place the SIM card?in the battery compartment.

I have a T400 that I just in-place upgraded to Windows 7. Various unpleasant things happened, but the one I'm working on first is that the CDMA card (Qualcomm Gobi) no longer works. The driver has the yellow exclaimation thing. So to Lenovo's driver download site. Good news, there's a Windows 7 driver listed. However, there's no actual file (!!). I get to this page : http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-69999.html with the title :This package provides the Wireless WAN driver to enable the following adapters.- Qualcomm HS-USBHowever, it then says below:No available downloads So Lenovo folks, where is the driver ?

Hi I have just got a T420 (Win 7 64bit) which did not have a 3g module. I took the gobi 2000 out of my t410i and put it in this machine. I have installed the driver for the t410 and it installs perfectly, although it does not list the T420 as a compatible machine.  I can create the dialup with the gobi modem but I keep getting an error 619 and it will not connect. I have tried installing access connections and connecting via mobile broadband but still no luck. If I go to in access connection to advanced, tools, mobile broadband (which is now no longer greyed out) I can see existing SMSs on the sim card but send or receive new SMS so it seems the card is not registered on the mobile network. If I press FN+F5, WWAN  is not listed so I can?t turn it on. Any ideas?

Make sure you enabled the card in BIOS.

I got a T410 with a Qualcomm Gobi 2000 adapter and wonder if there is any other software that can be used instead of Access Connections? The software have to support Windows 7 x64/x86 as well since that is the OS i will be using. On other Thinkpads with the Ericsson F3507g i been using Ericsson Wireless Manager instead of AC that i found to work better. Hopefully there are some other options for the Qualcomm Gobi 2000 as well. Any advice for other software than AC would be appreciated.

Answer:Software for the Qualcomm Gobi 2000 adapter

Hi gan,

You should be able to make WWAN connections just using Windows, no other software required. I don't know who your provider is, but here's and example of the setup for AT&T in the US.

My system is a ThinkPad T510 (4349-4JG) with a Qualcomm Gobi 2000 module. I'm having problems using this for GSM DialUp connections. A colleague have a W500 with Ericsson F3507g and there it work's flawlessly. He uses the following initialization string to do this at+cfun=5;+cbst=71,0,1. This one does not work with the Gobi module. I have had some success with manually connecting to the virtual com port with a terminal client and then setting at+cfun=1 and at+cbst=14,0,1. Problem is that the connection is very unstable and very often I can't connect at all. I'm dialing up unix machines with a Siemens TC65 module and I can do this everytime without problems using an external comport modem from a different computer.  Hopefully someone have a solution for this?

Hello community. My T410 was upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, Windows 10 meanwhile with Anniversary Update.A Qualcomm Gobi 2000 WAN card in the device manager is correctly depicted as "Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Modem 9205", driver version 2.0.7.4 (amongst others). I can turn on and off Cellular Network in the action center. But with Settings -> Cellular Network I get a status text saying the account is not activated. When I try Cellular Network -> Advanced Options -> Add an Internet APN, on "save" I get the error message "The mobile device is missing or not operating properly". The SIM card is active, I tested another one in exchange, same result.I also uninstalled and reinstalled the device driver according to https://support.lenovo.com/de/en/documents/migr-75433 with the option DEFAULTIMAGE=6. Any help appreciated!T.

As long as your 3G carrier supports BYOM (Bring Your Own Modem) for their service, AND it operates on a 3G band supported by the MC8355..... yes, you can.

Hi, this is my first post to the Lenovo forums. I have a ThinkPad T510 that has a Qualcomm Gobi 2000 WWAN card installed. I'm wondering how I would go about obtaining a SIM card for my laptop. Can it be used with any service? (E.G. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon) Would the laptop be capable of running GPS Navigation? Would/could the laptop be assigned a phone number? I'm very new to the idea of WWAN on a laptop, so bear with me! I may ask some silly questions...

Hi all, I've just bought a new ThinkPad W510 equipped with the Mobile BroadBand Option: Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Mobile Broadband Device 9205. I've installed from scratch Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit as the Operating System and then I've updated every specific driver using the Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update v.4.0 utility. So, in Network and Sharing Center, I've a new running Mobile BroadBand Connection labeled as Verizon Wireless and then it comes my problem. I'm writing from ITALY and in my country there is NO Verizon Roaming Connection available. I'm also using a pre-paid contract SIM card with Vodafone IT provider, inserted in the correct back-battery SIM-slot. Is there a way to configure the Gobi 9205 device to work correctly with Vodafone provider? I've just searched a lot on google without results. The only suggestions derive from this web page: CLICK HERE But it seems to be a specific GobiLoader for Gobi 9201/9202 device and not for mine 9205. I've tried to launch the loader.exe but it seems that the file and some specific informations about the firmware/driver mismatch from the two versions. So, is there any official Lenovo way to use Mobile Connection with Vodafone provider? Thank you all in advance!

Answer:ThinkPad W510 and Qualcomm Gobi 2000 9205

Hi guys, after a research inside the driver unpackaged folder I've found a Readme doc file. I've found the way to install another firmware for Gobi 2000 9205 with specific provider informations. After a complete uninstall of Qualcomm Gobi 2000 drivers, at the command prompt, in the folder with the unpackaged driver, I need to enter this string: Setup.exe /i /l DEFAULTIMAGE=0 GPS=1 WIN7DRIVER=1 LOCATIONDRIVER=1 where the "DEFAULTIMAGE=0" substring indicates the provider to use.It seems that installation process completes fine, I can find inside the "C:/Program Data/QUALCOMM/" folder, a log file which indicates that the firmware loaded is the one from the "0" folder, where "0" means Vodafone. These are the informations about the folder with the corresponding firmware I've found on google: Vodafone 0Verizon 1AT&T 2Sprint 3T-Mobile 4Generic UMTS (North America) 5Generic UMTS (Europe) 6Telefonica 7TIM 8Orange 9Telstra 10 But the problem is not solved. Despite the Vodafone information has been clearly written inside the log file, in my Network and Sharing Center there is always "Verizon Wireless" as WWAN network connection :-( How can I solve this problem? Why is the Verizon provider persistent even if I've installed the driver with the "0" (Vodafone) default image? Where am I wrong?I'm an IBM of Italy employee and I need a working WWAN connection with Vodafone provider ASAP. Thank you in advance!

Hello all, I would like to know if anyone has tried ( without hacking the bios or anything like that ) any of the other 3G modems for the lenovo S10-3t - ad does anyone know where I can purchase the " approved " 3G modems that will work ? I have done a search and can't find anything solid - I actually purchased a Qualcomm GOBI from CDW the exact same one they offer on the Lenovo site and the exact one mentioned here in these forums - and I get the unauthorized card error ! I called Lenovo for support and the gentlemen I worked with had no clue what to do quite frankly was really no help at all - I was even deferred to Quallcomm to their tech support and they pretty much said its Lenovos problem - so here I am with a 3G modem that doesn't work and before I purchase another one I want to ensure it definitely works - Any ideas ? Thanks

Answer:S10-3T Approved 3G modems ?QualComm GOBI doesn't work

It might be the same GOBI model but different Vendor ID and Product ID. I've personally seen the VID/PID of the Ericsson and Huawei modems posted in the other thread so it's safe to say that they will work with the S10-3T. However, finding where to buy those exact modems can be a problem. I would guess it will only be available at the Lenovo site soon.

Jim, I hope you have this working by now, but if not you should know the Lenovo have released Windows 7 Qualcomm BETA drivers, which (at least for my W500) seems to be working fine. You'll find the Win 7 BETA page here and the Qualcomm beta drivers here (ThinkPad UNDP Wireless WAN Driver) I had to uninstall the drivers I had installed from Vista, and then install these. After that , since I have a Ericsson F3507g, I also had to install the Ericsson drivers as well - don't know if this is relevant for yoy. I have this running on Lenovo W500 installed with Win 7 x64 build 7100 and build 7232. Hope this helps,Zorroson

Hello, I have a small question about the QualComm Gobi 2000 in the ThinkPad X201 3680-1T2, I wonder if I can send SMS with it in my laptop. I brought SMSCaster however it gives me an error, I have no idea how I can get it to send SMS. Can someone point me into the correct directions to send a SMS using the Gobi 2000, please state the software when used or the settings (and where I can find the settings to enable SMS). Thank you for your supprt. PS: for those who are unfamiliar with the ThinkPad X201 3680-1T2, it is not a touchpad version.

Answer:ThnkPad X201 3680-1T2; QualComm Gobi 2000 question

When you open Access Connections, is the SMS icon on the Tools tab greyed out or in color?  When you left-click your Mobile Broadband icon on the Tools tab (in Access Connections), do you have an option with which to enable SMS?  I have have a similar question for my X201 3249 (about which I have made a similar post).  I have read on the Lenovo Community about SMS problems with Windows 7 but, considering many of these postings were made over a year ago, one would think that a solution to this problem would have been found by now.

Hey Giro,

You have  ThinkPad Wireless WAN (UNDP) Driver 1.1.250 and ThinkVantage Access Connections  5.95 for windows 7.  ThinkVantage Access Connection 5.95 for XP and if this is correct I would suggest you uninstall both driver and Access connections. Then load Access Connection and then your driver and see if that resolves the issue.

Best Regards,

Hiro

Hi, guys! I know this error about unauthorized card is very regular. I know a reason. Nevertheless I need a help. I've got an x220 laptop with i5-2520m and broadband option installed in it - an official Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Modem 9205 (78y1399). WLAN card is also exist. Laptop and Gobi 2000 are from Lenovo and purchased officially. The drivers for modem and boot loader are downloaded from Lenovo's site. All nesessary drivers and patches for Microsoft Windows 7 and Lenovo are installed too. With initial BIOS v.1.04 the system works fine, with the only one problem - modem isn't presented in Access Connection since the laptop cold starts. So I've to load the default settings in setup every time the laptop cold starts and restart the laptop. I know this error has been fixed in new BIOS. After the newest BIOS 1.16 was flashed the system halts if I try to access setup (after F1) or after cold start. The error message you know - "1802: Unauthorized network card.... (05c6/9205) . System is halted". Also, as the modem isn't set to default stage it's not visible in Access Connection. In Hardware Manager the modem looks fine and can be tested. I had to downgrade to BIOS 1.04. The questions are:1. I know this Qualcomm Gobi 2000 (78y1399) isn't in compatibility list of x220. It's a surprise for me. Why so as both products are from Lenovo and 78y1399 is supported by x201, for example?2. Why the 78y1399 isn't presented in new BIOSes white li... Read more

Without paying attention to the saying " do not change something if it works" I did an automatic upgrade of the system of my new lenovo t410. I used the automatic system update software included in the original  installaton.I got a message stating that 1 package did not install ThnkPad Wirells WAN (UNPD) Driver. I trried the manuall installation. Now the message was: "The installer was interuupted before Qualcomm Gobi 2000 Package for Lenovo could be installed. You need to restart the installer try again". I tried several time, I got all the times the same message. I took the computer with me for a trip and when I was anxious to use the 3G connection I realized that it is no longer liested in the devices for connection (Fn+F5). The device manager shows an question mark in the devive and indicates that no driveers are installed. I tried to uninstall the Gobi Package , which is verison 1.1.80, not the upgraded one I also get an error message saying "The installer was interuupted before Qualcomm Gobi 2000 Package for Lenovo could be installed. You need to restart the installer try again". So I have a brand new computer that I bought because it had a buil in 3G modem that I cannot use because I did the recommended  upgrade of the system. I read that some user had a similar problem but I did not understand how it was solved. I will appreciatte it if someone could send me some advise. Thanks in advance, Pablo from Spain

Are there any Lenovo engineers on the board that have knowledge of the GOBI WWAN chipset? The GOBI website lists the newer T series as machines that support GOBI, but no one at the support line knows anything about GOBI. I need to know if the Verizon UNDP card is actually a GOBI card before I order it, and if it will work with my 2765-T2U. I want to use Sprint here in the states, but I am going to Europe in two weeks and I want to use an HSDPA carrier such as Vodaphone while I'm there. I dont know if I should order the card because I cant seem to confirm anything at all. The phone support people are nice but admit to knowing nothing about it..I've talked to several of them and they told me to come here and find an engineer! Thanks for any help you might provide! Matt

The laptop works perfectly on WiFi LAN and Wired LAN connections though. The HP connection manager show NOTHING in the "Mobile Broadband" tab which seems to indicate the HP connection manager is not talking to the GOBI properly even though it connects to the Verizon network. The lastest 4211 driver on the website appears to have issues during installation as it states "unsuccesfully installed" several times. HP, what is the issue here ? Brand new laptop, working SIM card, Wireless Broadband connectivity is no functional !!!!!!!!

Hi, my company purchased x240s and the GOBI cards separately and of course they purchased the AT&T version and we use Verizon as our carrier. Now here is the thing, even with that branding from the tech specs on the Lenovo shop portal they look exactly the same. When I install the latest drivers for the GOBI card and Lenovo Access Connections I can get it to somewhat work in the beginning and then it stops working. I tried every conceivable way to get it to work all the time but it's a hit or miss until it permanently fails and the sim I use is from an x230 that also has a GOBI card. My question is does it really make a difference if it is branded as AT&T since the GOBI card does work at some point and if it doesn't matter am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help!

When I ordered my T410s, I chose the "upgradeable" option.  What does that exactly mean?  Does this mean that I have all the hardware already pre-installed, and I just need a SIM card and a service plan?  I noticed what appears to be a SIM card slot underneath the battery.  Should have thought ahead when I ordered the ThinkPad and had them set it up ready to go from the beginning.  Thanks.

Answer:Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradeable vs. Gobi 2000

Upgradable means you have the SIM slot and built-in antenna, but need to insert a WWAN mini PCI adapter like the Gobi 2000. So you have all the hardware except the WWAN adapter. The WWAN adapter is easy to insert and not that expensive to buy so it's no big deal, but if you are going to use mobile broadband you could as well have bought the Gobi 2000 instead of upgradable. You need a SIM card and a plan as well from a mobile network operator in your country. -gan

I have an issue with the Qualcom GOBI broadband option for Verizon.  I can connect fine, but my machine will power off the wireless LAN radio after a few minutes (not consistant time period.  It appears that this happens only when I am on battery power, which leads me to believe it is a power saving issue.  I think I have changed all of the appropriate powersaving settings and even turned of the "allow the computer to turn of this device to save power" in device manager, and it still persists. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise x64, the latest verizon access manager, and have mad sure all lenovo/qualcomm drivers are up to date. Any ideas?

Update:  Still having this problem, except I was wrong about it only happening when I am on battery power.  It happens regardless if I am on battery or plugged in. Can someone help?

Hi,I am a newbie to this stuff. I cannot get my mobile broadband card to work.I have an X121e which has upgradeable mobile broadband. Foolishly I did not buy this card at time of purchase. I have bought an unlocked Gobi 2000 and installed this and the sim card. I have installed the drivers and the broadband package from lenovo. The Gobi 2000 is shown under ports in device manager (windows 7 64bit) with a com3 allocation.However...in 'access connections' there is no adapter so I cannot set up a mobile broadband profile. Only the lan and wireless card are options. Windows 7 internet connections only gives me wired, wireless and modem options. Searching the internet I think this card needs to be shown as a network adapter.Ideas anyone please?

Hi All, I am having a problem with the Verizon Broadband access in my W500. I am able to connect and it works for a while, but then stops working. Access Connections still claims that it is connected, but I cannot send or receive and data. Disconnecting and reconnecting does not work either. The only fix is to turn off the card (using the hardware switch that turns off all wireless devices) and then turn it back on again. It then reconnects and works for a while before dying again. I just got this W500. It has the Qualcomm WWAN card. I have updated to the latest Access Connections (curiously enough, I seem to have version 5.10 whereas the latest version on the web site is 5.02). One other comment: the documentation for the Access Connections 5.02 claims that I need version 6.0.5.1 or higher of the Thinkpad UNDP Wireless WAN Driver. I seem to have version 6.0.3.2. But, I can't find 6.0.5.1 anywhere. I am running Vista 32-bit. The Verizon Broadband used to work very well on my previous T61p with the Sierra modem and the Verizon Mobile Broadband software. Thanks for any help. Cheers,Niranjan Suri

Answer:Problem with Verizon Broadband (Qualcomm Card) in W500

Hi, I am only posting to offer some additional confirmation of the problem, so hopefully Lenovo will come to our assistance. I too just got my W500 (12/10/2008) and I also have the exact same issue and have been trying to figure out a resolution ever since. My Verizon Broadband access only stays connected for a short while and then stops working.  Access Connections also still claims that it is connected however their is no connection.  I also had version 5.10 of access connections installed with my computer even though 5.02 is latest version available on the web. I am also having similar problems with wireless connections, which makes me think it isn't a Qualcomm card issue. The basic symptom is just that the network drops connections after a short while (either with Verizon/Qualcomm card or wireless Intel card) and access connections still shows a connection but their isn't a connection.   I was intially using an external USB Verizon adapter that I had, but I was having problems with it as well so I decided to try the internal card hoping that would fix my issues. It initally appeared that having a USB hard drive or using a bluetooth device caused the network to drop more frequently, which made me think maybe it was a power issue.  I called tech support and they had me send in my laptop and replaced the system board, but I just got it back and it still has the same issue which is extremely frustrating as now I feel I have a ... I am considering purchasing the GOBI WWAN card.  Lenovo claims the card is compatible with the sprint network.  My carrier is sprint.  I called them up to enquire about how I can get my laptop on my plan, or get it on its own plan.  They said it didn't matter that I had this card.  I will still have to buy a sprint WWAN card.  What's the point in buying it if Sprint won't let me use it?  And why would Lenovo claim I can use it on the sprint network?

dell sells a gobi card,  http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Wireless_WiFi/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&s...  , that would physically fit in the T400s. Lenovo has qualcomm drivers . Anyone have an opinion whether this card would work in the t400s? My concern is that it might be "locked" so as to only work wth specific Dell models. The card provides compatability with multiple carriers such as verizon, AT&T, and others rather than just one carrier.  Also could be used with GPS. I cannot find a version of this card specifically designed for the T400s. * Note for Lenovo - this would be a sought after option to avail your customers of.

Answer:T400s with Gobi 5600 multimode broadband mini card & GPS

The T400s Hardware Maintenance Manual specifies an FRU 42T0961 Qualcomm UNDP1 WWAN card, which is a Gobi card. Looks like IBM parts are selling it.  That would be all you would need for a WWAN Upgradeable ThinkPad (orange and blue antenna cables already installed - see the HMM).  A non-Lenovo card like the one you mention would most likely give an 1802 BIOS error "Unauthorized network card".  I have no idea if that card is SIM-locked - maybe someone reading this does?

This may seem like a stupid question, so forgive me. I am wanting to purchase the x230, and thinking about getting the gobi 4000 card.  However, my questions is this: I have a Verizon Wireless plan with truly unlimited data... one of those that got grandfathered in. Now, can I take the sim card out of my phone, plug it into the gobi card in the x230, and get Internet access? Thanks.

Answer:X230 question regarding the Gobi 4000 mobile broadband cards

Will you get Sierra Wireless mc7750 card (Gobi 4000 for Verizon Wireless, FRU 0A36318) inside of your laptop or install it yourself? If the answer is "yes", my answer for your question is "yes".But as I know Verizon doesn't need sim card for internet access, you just need to activate your modem with plan in carrier' network using Lenovo Mobile Broadband application. Download it from the site.

Hi I believe my W510 (4389-2SU) has a Gobi 2000 Mobile Broadband card installed but I can't tell for your sure. It's not showing up in the device manager list. I've run the Gobi 2000 driver installer and also installed Access Connections. I use ATT so I ran the Gobi coniguration utility to use the ATT image (2) which it seemed to do with no errors. I also updated the Gobi based code as suggested on the driver downloads site How can I tell whether the Gobi card is installed without opening the machine up? Thanks Mark

Hello mate, You don't have a WWAN modem in your machine. The 4329-2SU has just a WWAN option.

Answer:Qualcomm wireless update and now wireless not working grrrrr

Thank you for the information. Based on this information, I have a few more troubleshooting steps I can suggest:

1. I would like you to attempt to ping your router. Information on how to perform this task is described here: How to Ping the Windows Network Router.

2. Take note if there is any packet loss, and/or whether or not you are able to perform this task.

3. Once this is done, I would like you to use HP Support Assistant to test this computer's network capabilities. To do this:

- Open HP Support Assistant and click on "Internet and Security".

- Ensure you are on the Internet tab, and click on "HP Network Check".

- It may generate a confirmation screen; just click "Next".

- This diagnostic will check certain conditions and variables. In the end, the results will be displayed. Please take note of any errors, and the possible root causes (you can click the arrow next to a root cause to display more information).

I will require this information if the issue is not resolved. As an additional troubleshooting step, I will suggest you perform a System Restore. I am suggesting this because you stated the issue occurred after an update. For more information on how to perform a System Restore, please reference this Microsoft website: How to refresh, reset, or restore your PC

Please note: A System Restore will return the computer to Windows 8. While in Windows 8, complete all of your Windows Updates and install any necessary driv... Read more

I'm having the same problem on my desktop and have also figured out it is the network adaptor (I have the same Qualcomm listed above). The internet connection drops randomly and I have to disconnect and reconnect to the network. This is despite the computer recognizing that the wireless connection is fine. The driver is updated to the latest version. I searched online and have tried various fixes to no avail (I turned off the option to let the computer disconnect the connection to save power, which was on despite me having a desktop. I also tried unchecking IPv6 and changing the roaming policy to very low, neither of which worked.) This is very frustrating, especially on a computer less than 6 months old. I need an actual working fix to this or for Acer to replace the network adaptor if it is faulty.

Answer:Qualcomm wireless problem

Have you tried the computer on a different network to make sure the problem isn't related to the network configuration and setup? If the problem persists on multiple networks, I suggest you contact technical support to inquire about warranty repair options.

Answer:X120e Gobi 2000 v Gobi 3000

Hello,

I found a spec sheet for the Gobi 2000 here and the one for the Gobi 3000 here.  From looking between the two, it appears the newer 3000 model is ready for UMTS - AWS and EV-DO/CDMA ? 2100 MHz (standards which may not have been ratified when the 2000 was released), supports faster HSDPA speeds (14.4Mbps vs. 7.2Mbps) and is 2.5 grams lighter.

Hi folks, yesterday I got the Lenovo Y50 Full-HD laptop (Intel Core i7-4710HQ, Windows 8.1) with the Qualcomm AR956x Wireless Adaptor and was struggling to keep a stable internet connection. The connection always shows 1/2 bars, and spends most time with the connection dropped, with only sporadic points of actual connectivity at the speed it should be (my old laptop is maintaining a connection fine, which is also running 8.1, and even my phone is getting a better connection...). So, I ran the Lenovo updates, as you should with any new computer and restarted, but the probelm still persisted. I've googled the problem (which seems to quite common...) and tried some fixes others have put forward. I've tried going into power management and setting the network adaptors to 'maximum performance' (which I'm should apparently stop them from going to sleep), I've tried going into control panel's device manager and tried updating the drivers of the following network adaptors (all of which are enabled):Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter   (version: 10.0.0.274)Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (When in the Task Manager -> Performance -> Wi-Fi screen, it shows the Qualcomm Atheros in the top right, so I think I'm right to believe that's the one that's currently active?)But every time I was told a message along the lines... I have a T520. I decided to post this since I couldn't find anything on it anywhere when i was trying to figure it out.Sierra site has no drivers, and the lenovo driver says its an unsupported platform even though it clearly lists XP.Here's the solution, mind you I haven't tried to connect to anything yet:Go get the regular lenovo driver for sierra wireless off of the support page, run it, let it install. You can watch the sierra installer fail after that if you wish.Go into where ever you installed the driver files to, in my case C:\DRIVERS\WWANSR (Where the lenovo branded installer put the sierra installer files)Now go into the uncompressed_drivers directory (C:\DRIVERS\WWANSR\Uncompressed_Drivers)Don't run DriverInst.exe yet. It installs all the drivers, but they wont work. (Devices do not start.)Run the two .reg files to add them to the registry (LenovoPowerManagement.reg and LenovoSupportedPIDKeys.reg)Now run DriverInst.exe, and you're done! Now if someone could tell me how to increase the maximum integrated graphics from 128 mb on a t520 I'd be in heaven!

I ordered a Gobi 3000 for my laptop before I went abroad and found that the local carrier here (there's only one) offers EVDO service. I ordered my EVDO service but when it came to connecting using Lenovo Access Connections, the only EVDO options that are available are Sprint or Verizon. Just for the hell of it, I decided to try both and neither worked but the card is able to see the EVDO network.  The issue is that the card will not activate (even though it is activated on the local carrier's network) because it does not see a Sprint or Verizon network. If I pop in a 3G SIM card and switch the Gobi to HSDPA, it works great but 3G is expensive here which is why it isnt a great option.  The activation is purely software/firmware related on the Gobi and it's incredibly annoying to know I spent $125 for something that simply won't work (despite the assurances by the Lenovo sales team that it wasn't software-limited or locked in any way when I asked before I bought it) Anyone have any familiarity with activating the Gobi for EVDO service on providers other than Sprint or Verizon?

I ordered a Gobi 3000 for my laptop before I went abroad and found that the local carrier here (there's only one) offers EVDO service. I ordered my EVDO service but when it came to connecting using Lenovo Access Connections, the only EVDO options that are available are Sprint or Verizon.

EV-DO never achieved enough global market penetration to become a globally standardised technology, in either an engeineering or commercial sense.

Every EV-DO  implementation was somewhat different, so its not at all suprising that you are unable to activate a Gobi 3000 card intended primarily for access to specific US providers with an EVDO provider in another market.

The Gobi 3000 card is definitely not "locked" in itself to a provider, but many EV-DO vendors would only activate a device that they had sold themselves, for purely commercial reasons.  Also, EV-DO "activation" is quite a different thing to activation in 3G networks, so even when there is a basic technology compatibility in terms of frequency bands, there may not be an ability to activate the device within the  business model of any arbitrary EVDO provider.

I bought aspire V3-574G-54VY one month back. It is running on windpws 10 64-bit. There is one issue with the Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless Network Adapter. Whenever I update the driver to version 12.0.0.116 I face extreamly slow internet. But when I rollback to previous driver version i.e. 4.0.0.115, the speed is proper. Can anyone help me regarding this issue as I am not able to identify whether I have a faulty laptop or not. The service center even replaced the wifi card but still the same issue is coming back. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys finally I found the exact problem with the help of service engineer The problem was with power settings. When the laptop was plugged in it was taking the full speed and on battery mode slow. The solution is :  Goto settings -> system -> power and sleep -> additional power settings -> change plan settings (of selected plan) ORGoto Search -> type Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options -> -> change plan settings (of selected plan) Thenchange advance power settings -> wireless adapter settings -> power saving mode -> Set On battery to maximum performance Check your speed now(restart if required) I am now using the updated driver 12.0.0.191 and internet speed is proper.

Hi brummiearab1, welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to report that your card can only connect in the 2.4 GHz band. If you can set your card for the 40MHz bandwidth, the theoretical maximum data rate is 150 Mbps. Otherwise in the 20MHz bandwidth, 65 or 72.22 Mbps is normal. To connect to the 5 GHz band, the card must be rated as A/B/G/N, or AC.

There are 4 cards in your HMM, and all 4 are only rated as 1x1 BGN. There are no cards that have 5 Ghz capability.

Hello everyone.
My notebook would not complete installation of Windows 10 due to athwbx.sys problem. BSOD.

This is a driver file found in Windows 8 for the Atheros Wireless Network hardware.
However I am updating from Windows 7 and this file is not part of the drivers required for this hardware in Windows 7. So I cannot install it.
However windows 10 expects to see it I believe. as it does a BSOD on login after upgrading to Windows 10 calling an exception due to Athwbx.sys and will just not allow me to log in. I can get to safe mode though.
I also managed to roll back to Win 7.

Question is how do I get around this. Atheros hardware is AR9002WB. I am using the latest Win7 driver possible for this hardware.
Any ideas?

Steve

Have you tried uninstalling the device in device manager and rebooting. It may well install a proper Windows 10 driver.

The Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless Network Adapter of my laptop have gone wrong for some time. My laptop couldn't detect any wireless networks at all. At first, I managed to fix this problem by uninstall it and then scan for hardware changes in Device Manager, it used to work normally again. However, this method doesn't work anymore recently. So I tried to uninstall it and replace it with another Network Adapter which I downloaded from Acer official website, somehow, the problem was solved. BUT same problem happens again now. I wonder whether this is a serious problem that I have to send my laptop to technician for repair...Is there anything I can do to fix it by my own?

So I read all of the solutions for the AR5BWB222 Drivers for the Qualcomm Atheros (from using the non-supported drivers) from the Atheros.cz site, to not checking the power-saving modes for the Network Driver, as well as in the Performance/Screen Saver section.   Tried installing the official latest drivers from the Acer website.   Nothing works. The question I have is why doesn't Qualcomm Atheros have a list of drivers on their website?   Yes, Acer should demand Qualcomm Atheros to update the drivers.   They must have an agreement.   Other wifi devices work fine.   But not AR5BWB222.     We all know it comes down to the driver.   Official driver.   Acer just needs to provide pressure to have the latest drivers from Qualcomm Atheros. It's a software solution, and there needs to be support.   If these drivers are buggy, then Acer needs to update them *or* tell Qualcomm Atheros to update them.    It's sad that the Acer community has to pick up the slack, rather than Acer tech support.   If there is a ticketing system, I will create it. I'm quite tired from all the troubleshooting I did.   I need a beer.   Acer owes me a beer.

I WANT TO SHARE THIS BECASUE IT HAPPENED ME SEVERAL TIMES AND NEVER FOUND ANY SOLUTION ON THE NET In my X201 with Windows 7 64 pro, sometimes the wireless wan radio card doesn't power on. I mean, whatever you do (fn+F5, enable/disable in bios, reinstall driver, etc) it keeps powered off. Also its LED keeps powered off (in meantime wifi and blutooth can be worked on/off) The only solution I have found is to boot the pc with an Ubuntu USB  live disk, and click on "enable broadband connection", to make it active (you will note its led powered on)- The magic is also that Ubuntu MUST be run from a live disk, if you install on the harddisk it wont be able to re-wake the wan card... only after doing this the qualcomm wireless wan gets bak at being "actionble" also in windows 7. hope it helps!

Hello, I recently purchased an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro VN7-591G-74SK. It runs Windows 8.1 64-bit. It has the Atheros AR5BWB222 network adapter. I have a roughly 60Mb/s Internet connection, but I'm only getting about 1.0Mb/s download in some areas of my house. Basically, download speed takes a drastic dive after I leave the room with my router in it. Barriers and distance seem to be a problem for either the software or hardware in this computer because all the other devices in my house get at least 10-25 Mb/s at any given location in my house whereas mine is <3.0 Mb/s in any room except directly next to the router (where I get 50-60 Mb/s). I'm using speedtest.net as a test (I know it's not ideal but it's easy to use and seems to represent how horribly slow the connection is in those other rooms) to determine this. I've seen this problem for this network adapter across many forums, but none of the answers have worked for me. I've reinstalled the drivers several times. I reinstalled Windows. I tried changing the network channel on my router. My current driver for the network adapter is 10.0.0.298. I installed this from the unofficial Atheros website (atheros.cz). However, the drivers from the Acer website are older versions, and the laptop came with 10.0.0.288, none of which work any better. I've also changed the power settings to maximize wireless performance regardless of power state (battery or plugged in). This is a last effort on my part before I either return the laptop o... I am sorry to hear that you are getting poor wireless performance when you leave the same room as your router. I can only suggest trying another network and seeing if the symptoms are the same. I understand you have other devices that are not affected. If the problem is persistent, I would recommend contacting our technical support as our repair team may be able to resolve this problem.

Hi,
I just got a "silent" BSOD. I want to say that while I was using VMware Workstation 11 (Windows Vista RTM in the virtual machine), my computer restarted quickly and didn't show a blue screen, but I got Minidump files.

The Minidump files are attached. I will also give a screenshot to diagnose the issue better.

Answer:Qualcomm Atheros AR956x wireless network adapter problem

hi Ehsan405,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Navigate to Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features and uninstall anything that relates to Qualcomm or Atheros Wireless Driver and reboot.

2. After the reboot, you should see Network Controller under Device Manager. Perform a right click on this entry and select Update Driver > Browse my computer for driver software and point to one of these folders to update the driver:

D:\Drivers\WLAN
or
C:\drivers\WLAN Driver(Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek)\Atheros\10.0.0.274

If the code 10 error persist, it's likely that some registry entries were corrupted when you uninstalled Hotspotshield. If possible, perform a System Restore to revert the unit back to working condition and follow this guide in uninstalling Hotspot Shield.

Regards

My Yoga 2 has the Atheros Wireless Network Adapter.  The maximum speed it registers regardless of the wireless network that I connect to is 65 mbps.  I sit my other Lenovo Edge and Dell Lattitude (both with Intel wireless cards) right next to the Yoga and the will clock in at twice the speed... or higher with regard to the other Lenovo when connected to my office WiFi.  Is the issue the Qualcomm card its self or do I need to change something in my settings?  I've downloaded the latest driver from the Lenovo Support site and it didn't make a difference.

I'll add some additional troubleshooting info: The D-Link DIR-826L is a dual-band b/g/n router. It replaced a Rosewill b/g router. Most everything in the house only see the 2.4GHz b/g/n band; only the TVs see the 5GHz band. So, I connected an Edimax extender to the 2.4GHz band. This extender is only b/g (no-N). I connected the wireless adapter of the computer to the extender, and VOILA! No more BSODs.

It's a wireless card driver issue, yes?

Hi, yesterday I had an issue with my laptop because I couldn?t connect and detect any Wi-fi network, the Bluetooth device was unavailable too, The network icon just showed available a Ethernet connection but I did not had cable so, I couldn't connect to the internet and I was looking a way to "turn on" the network adapter but I couldn't and I gave up.I download a report from the networks config and it showed the status for the Wi-fi & Bluetooth device as: DOES NOT EXIST (Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless Network Adapter and Bluetooth Device) Today I turned on my laptop and the Wi-fi was available again, I checked immediately the Lenovo Solution Center App in the section "Instantanea" to compare the changes in hardware and software vs yesterday and in the section for Network Board there is a change, yesterday there was not a available devices for Wi-fi and Bluetooth and today there are both "like they were added today".I'm worry about having the same issue in the future, my laptop is my work tool and if it fails again like yesterday what could I do?Attached a picture of the Lenovo solution center from today showing the difference vs yesterday.

I'm sure that a modem is integrated since it was specifcally ordered with it and it shows up in the device manager. What I ruled out:- Hardware defect: There is a second Thinkpad E130 with the same setup, where it doesn't work either.- Service provider problem: Tried two SIM cards from two different service providers.- SIM card problem: SIM cards work in mobile 3G router. What I did:- Shut down the notebook- Put a sim card in the slot in the back of the laptop, behind the battery.- Reboot the notebook and start the Thinkvantage Access Connections software.- The sim card usually does get detected and a suitable profile is shown automatically.- Nonethless I created a profile myself. The data for the APN, etc. is gathered either from the internet or from a second software I use.- I try to connect with the profile which is automatically shown and the self-created profiles.- It tries for several minutes but then quits with an error message: 'Unable to connect to network at this time due to out of coverage or Your SIM-card may not be activated. Please see Lenovo Mobile Broadband Actviation or contact your mobile operator. Do you want to sign up now?' - I tried to connect with a second software called MWconn, which ... Read more
