T400s issue - dual display using laptop monitor plus external with mini dock 3

Question: T400s issue - dual display using laptop monitor plus external with mini dock 3

I am trying to setup a dual monitor setup with my t400s and mini dock 3. I want to use the laptop display plus my acer through the dvi port on the mini dock. I can't do anything to get the laptop display on at the same time as the external. I'm using windows 7. is this possible with this dock?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am moving from a desktop to a laptop w/ docking station. I want to be able to drop the T61 into the dock and go dual-screen with the lappy screen (usually holding outlook open) and say a 19" LCD. Is this possible? Would the Intel X1300 support a 19" LCD res? I am most likely going with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, but just in case I changed my mind.. I would like to know.

Answer:Can the T61 w/ Adv. Mini Dock do dual-screen laptop screen + external monitor?

Yes - all the T61s here using the Advanced Mini-Dock (including mine) and they all support dual-screen.We use 24" Monitors with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 32 Bit and it looks teriffic. If you dock and undock a lot I'd recommend using the ThinkVantage Presentation Director to set up your screens.I think the nVidia is worth it.

I'm using a T430s and a mini dock plus series 3. This is the dock with the dual DVI, dual DisplayPort, 1x VGA. I do not use the laptop's built-in screen; just the 2 external monitors. Intel HD4000 graphic chip and Nvidia Optimus/ I previously had 2 20" monitors with a 1680x1050 resolution using DVI-to-DVI. They both worked fine. I upgraded to 2 24" monitors with a 1920x1200 resolution. The laptop is not recognizing the second monitor. I have tried:dual display port (dock side) to mini display port (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizeddual dvi (dock side) to HDMI (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizedI ruled out monitor and cable problems by swapping...each by itself works fine. Looking up specs, I believe this resolution should be supported by DP or DVI. Can anybody confirm that this is a supported config? Any ideas what is wrong? UPDATE - I did try 1 DP/mDP and 1 DVI/HDMI: this does work. However, its not an ideal solution because it would interfere with the monitors ports which I want to use for a second PC. UPDATE 2 - OK, now I am beyond aggrivated. I also have a support ticket w/ Lenovo where they suggested switching to Integrated Graphics only in the BIOS. I tried that, no luck. After changing that setting back, i tried to get my 1 DP / 1 DVI working, but now it would not recognize dual monitors. ??? After some testing, I'm finding that the -only- setup that works is the following: Dock DVI port 1 to Moni... Answer:Second monitor not detected: T430s with Mini Dock Plus Series 3 dual external monitor

Fixed; was a driver issue. Problem seems exclusive to a Dell u2415 on DP port 1 only of the dock or to the laptop's DP port (at least for the couple monitors I tried). It's possible it could affect other monitors. My starting point: 9.18.13.4535 / 9.17.10.2843 (Nvidia /  Intel) The latest driver from Lenovo is 9.18.13.4535 / 8.15.10.2725. I'm not sure how i have a slightly newer Intel, but that's what it was. I couldn't install the Lenovo driver. I also couldn't install a newer driver from Intel (10.18.10.4276). In both cases Windows or the Intel installer stopped me saying the mfr provided the drivers and that the installed version was up to date. I worked around by first rolling back the Intel driver. The manual (.zip) install of the latest intel driver worked. This immediately fixed the Dell u2415 on DP port 1 and laptop's built-in DP port.

I recently purchased two "T400s" and a Mini Dock 3.  Both units run WinXP SP3.  For unexplainable reasons, one unit will only boot up in the dock with 800x600 resolution on an external monitor which forces me to always reset the resolution to the preferred 1280x1024.  The other unit retains the 1280x1024 without a problem. Of course, I have downloaded and applied all available updates.  Any suggestions? JWegge P.S.  I thought about reinstalling all video related updates.  Is there a means to uninstall updates short of restoring the hardrive to factory settings?

Dear all, would like to inquire if X220 will operate with two external monitor? I'm ok to close the lid of my X220.The 4337 docks support VGA and DVI, will both work together? What's working:- I have been using x220 screen with another external monitor through VGA connection.- Connecting Dell 2340L direct to VGA works with X220 screen, not with 2 external monitor. What's not working:- Recently got a Dell 2340L which contains only VGA and HDMI, which I thought HDMI would work with an adaptor (HDMI to DVI) port - no response although the Windows 7 detects external monitor display.

The problem i am having is after I undock, the Laptop screen is blank, FN F7does not work, so I have to power down the Laptop. the easiest solution would be to install presentation director, set up a few profiles, and use Fn+F7 to control your display.   in your power plan, set it to power off the display upon lid close but not to sleep.   then use Fn+F4 to put the system to sleep when necessary.

Answer:New X220 support dual external monitors with mini dock plus?

1) Lenovo Mini Dock Plus doesn't have HDMI port. 2) The DVI port on the Mini Dock Plus is DVI-D only, so it doesn't support analogue signal. You would have to use Displayport to VGA converter instead. 3) minimal, <50 g.

Hi, I am trying to connect my T61p to 2 external monitors through the DVI and VGA ports on the advanced mini dock.  Even with the lid shut, the dock only shows an image on one monitor.  Is there something that I need to do to enable the other monitor.  In the nvidia control panel, it can see the 2 external monitors however it just doesn't show the image on the other. The OS is Windows XP Pro and the Graphics are FX570M. Any help appreciated.

I just purchased a T61 with the advanced mini dock for home use.  My home setup is two Samsung LCD monitors, one driven by the mini dock VGA and the other driven by the mini dock DVI.  The monitor driven by the DVI is the larger of the two and my main use (primary) monitor.  Is there any way to have the T61 use the DVI as the main monitor during the boot process?  I already use the Presentation Director to get things configured correctly once the boot process is complete, but its kind of annoying having to view the boot process from my secondary monitor and then watch the video reset gyrations that Presentation Director goes through to set the configuration. TIA for any help, Bill

Hi, I have a T410s which is docked in a Min Dock Plus 3. Hooked up to this I have to Lenovo Thinkvision L2251p monitors; one connected via DisplayPort and one via VGA (I have also tried having two connected via Displayports) connected to the docking station. The problem is as follows; I only get a picture on the monitor using the VGA Port. The secondary monitor always goes into standby but Windows 7 does recognize it and I can move the mouse cursor over into the part of the desktop that is "showing" on it. I have tried both Displayports on the dock and also using 2 displayports. When I tried using just a single displayport connection to one monitor the monitor would show a picture but randomly it would go black for about 1 second before the picture came back. This is driving me crazy and I would love to be able to use both my monitors and not just have one standing on my desk like a giant paperweight... Any help or ides would be appreciated. PS; the lid on the laptop is closed so I'm not using the internal LCD; only the external monitors. -Michel

I have a ThinkPad T520 Quad Core laptop and a ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3. I found the following document http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options_iso/tp_multiple_monitor_config_nvidiaoptimus_... and based on the rear view of the mini dock it appears I have a 4338. I noticed the folowing note in this document. Note: ThinkPad T520 Quad Core requires the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 ? 170W (4338-30U) When I have the ThinkPad in the Mini Dock when I connect a monitor to the DVI-D #1 or DVI-D #2 port, the monitor is detected as Display. I have another monitor attached to the VGA connection, but it is not detected. Ever since I upgraded to Vista SP1 on my ThinkPad T61 (with an Intel integrated 965 series graphics card), I've been having problems when I try to use an external monitor via the DVI port in my Advanced Mini-dock.  I'm curious if other people have experienced this problem. The problems surfaces when I first boot up, or sometimes after my ThinkPad has been running for awhile (particularly when I do something graphics related, such as right-clicking to open display properties).  The picture starts to flicker (or disappear and reappear, like the screen does when changing graphics resolutions).  I also hear the "ba-bum" sound that you hear when disconnecting a piece of hardware, followed by the "bum-ba" reconnection sound - these two sounds happen repeatedly (sometimes as fast as once per second).  If I don't do anything, sometimes I'll get a bluescreen. Not long ago, I found a fix of sorts: to stop the flickering/reconnecting, I just open Task Manager and stop the process called "igfxpers" (an Intel driver problem).  The problem always disappears after I do this, although I have to remember to do it every time I reboot or else the problem comes back.  So it's not an ideal fix. This problem doesn't happen when I connect an external monitor using the analog VGA port, or when I'm just using the notebook LCD.  It's limited to just the DVI connection.  I've tried two different digital monitors (one LG, the other BenQ) as well as ... I have a T420 that I'm using with a Mini Dock Series 3 - 90W 433710U docking station.  I'm trying to connect to two external monitors (both HP 1965's) using the DVI and VGA outputs on the docking station.  From the VGA output, I'm running a VGA (M) to DVI (M) into my monitor.  I can only get either the DVI or VGA outputted monitors to work by themselves, but not together.  When I connect both external displays, it will switch off one of the external monitors (the first one connected).     Both are verified working as external monitors with the T420, just not at the same time.  When using the DVI output, I can get dual monitors to work using the ThinkPad display as one monitor and the DVI-connected external monitor as the second.  Is there a way to connect to two external monitors from a T420 with a Mini Dock Series 3 - 90W 433710U docking station?  Or do you a multi-monitor adapater, such as an Cirago HDX3DV01 to do that?

Hello,I have a t400s and a mini dock plus 3. I connect to 2 viewsonic monitors both dvi.The problem I have is when I use the laptop off of the dock and then redock the laptop pushes to the first monitor fine but the second one does not come up until i go into windows XP display properties and attach it. Everything is fine from this point as long as I do not use the laptop off of the dock. Once I do and reboot on the dock the second monitor disppears again and I have to attach it again under windows display properties. Now I assume this is because this docking station is not a true dock. You do not tell windows xp that you are undocking before the laptop is removed. It is "rip and go."Hoping someone has a solution around not having to go into display properties to enable the second monitor everytime I redock.Any help is appreciated.thanks,sgossard34

I've been using a T400s with the mini dock to drive dual monitors for quite a while now.  Recently, I've noticed an issue in that after I undock, and come back to redock the system.  When I redock, my monitors synch up just fine and the display switches over just as it should.  However, it appears USB has gone dead throughout the system.  I am running a small USB hub off the mini dock, so I thought it was that.  But after more investigation, it appears USB throughout the laptop has gone dead.  Not only can I not get my peripherals to work after redocking, butcan plug in a USB key directly to the laptop to find that it never sees the key either.  So it appears the whole USB bus on the system itself has gone off into the weeds. Another odd symptom is that once it's in this state, it hangs if I were to attempt to put it into sleep and I have to power it off to recover.  Only course of action to fix it is a reboot.  I've noticed this doesn't happen after every undock/redock situation, but once it does, I'm fooked and I have to reboot to get USB functionality back.  My first thought was to try to update the chipset driver, but I'm not finding one available on the web.  Anybody else having troubles with this? T400S with win7 ultimate and USB mini dock.

Problem #1I'm having trouble with the display settings on a T61.  If I have the laptop undocked, I can get the resolution of 1400 x 1080.  If I dock it, the resolution automatically becomes 1024 x 768 on both the laptop and the monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 225BW).  I use the presentation manager and create a new profile with the correct settings I want and I get an error message that reads.... "The following settings you have selected cannot be applied properly.  Change the setting and try again.  Notebook LCD Resolution Color Quality Problem #2Failing to get the correct resolution using the analog connection, I try using the digital.  I switch the input on the monitor to digital and it shows the "no input signal" until I plug it up to the docking station.  When I try to switch my display to the monitor, nothing happens.  The monitor detects that it's connected to something, but I can't get anything to display. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  This has been bugging me for two weeks now.

I have having similar issues so any ideas would be great. When docked with the laptop closed, when I power up the digital display does not see the connection. Once I open the T61 in the dock the digital display comes to life. Problem is I don't want the laptop open since it sits under the monitor. I've also tried to create scheme settings via the intel graphics media driver, and they work great, but only when I have the laptop open to be able to select them. If I find anything I'll let you know, and if anyone has any ideas at this time I would greatly appreciate it.

Could someone please confirm if the T61 with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M is capable of driving a 30" external display when the T61 is in the ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock? A 30" display at 2560x1600 requires a dual-link DVI connection. If not, what about the R61 with the nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M card? Regards,Omar

I can't get the external monitor (aka dual screen) to work on my T60 via the VGA port. My model is currently running Windows XP and has a ATI Radeon X1300 video card. I'm 6 months out of warantee (although this problem started while in warantee but I can't convince Lenovo of that). I've tried the following:- ensuring "extend my monitor onto this desktop" in windows display properties- disabling/enabling Presentation Director and trying all the schemes- setting all different combinations of modes for resolution/colour on both (LCD + VGA) monitor- trying two different monitors and cables (which did work with other computers)- Updating the video drivers (from the Lenovo website) and Presentation Director to the latest versions I then figured it might be a hardware fault, so I tried to see if the external monitor was activated on bootup. I made sure the "LCD + VGA" option on boot was selected in BIOS. Still no joy. Finally, I figured the actual VGA connector was broken so I bought a compatible mini docking station (port replicator) and attached the VGA cable to that and even that didn't work. What on earth could be wrong if it's not the software and not the VGA connector? The video card is working as its powering the LCD display? Is my only option to give it in to repair (I can't afford that)? --MichaelMessage Edited by mstrom on 07-03-2008 04:03 AM

Answer:external monitor simply not working - including with external dock (dual screen)

Hi,Does the external connections and cables work with another system. I'd do that first. If all of it works with another system then it could be drivers or internal things but try that first. There are some driver updates on the Lenovo site. Make sure your BIOS are updated and such.Good Luck,

I have a ThinkPad T530i that sits on a Mini Dock Series 3 Docking station. That docking station has a VGA, DVI and Display Port. All 3 are used and connected to external monitors. However, I am getting a random screen flicker from the monitor connected to VGA. The screen litterally goes black, shifts whatever was on that screen to either the DVI or Display Port screen and then comes back on. I had a similar issue when I upgraded to Windows 8 on this laptop but was able to use an older NVIDIA driver to fix the issue. However, since upgrading to Windows 10, I can no longer use that driver as it is not compatible. How can I get the VGA screen to stop going black?

How do you know the driver is not compatible? Some driver's inf file needs to be edited to allow it to work with windows 10. My ViewSonic VP930b just died and I want to upgrade to a widescreen monitor. I was connected to the VP930b via DVI to my T60p in an advanced mini-dock. The VP930b's native resolution was 1280x1024...no problem there, as I would expect since it is a lower resolution than my T60p's 1400x1050 native resolution. What I'm unsure of is if my T60p can drive an external monitor with a higher resolution, specifically widescreen 1680x1050 or 1920x1200. Reading the tech specs page for my machine, I get the feeling that it might be compatible with 4:3 external monitors only and not 16:9 or 16:10 monitors. My graphics chip is a 256MB ATI Mobility FireGL V5250.Does anyone have a T60p connected to a widescreen monitor? Answering that question would be a big step in the right direction for me to feel confident purchasing a VP2250wb or Dell 2408WFP.Thanks in advance.

Answer:T60p (FireGL V5250, 1400x1050) + advanced mini dock + DVI = what max resolution on external monitor?

the maximum resolution supported over the dock's dual-link DVI-D port is 2560x1600 @ 32-bit.the maximum resolution supported over the internal VGA or the dock's VGA port is 2048x1536 @ 32-bit.any of the monitors you're considering will work.

Hello,I am thinking about ordering a T400s together with the Mini Dock Plus 3 (for use with 2 external TFT-Screens (21 inch, 1600x1200)).But I am worrying if this will work like I imagine. Therefore I would like to ask for any experiences in using one or two externals screens im combination with a T6x or T400/T500 (without external graphic card in the advanced dock). Thank you very much in advance for any hint that help me to find the right decision either for the T400s or for a T400.Question 1: Is the internal screen of the Thinkpad is deactivated when connecting 2 external screens? Or might it be possible to work with 3 screens in total (1 internal and 2 external)?Question 2: I wonder if the graphic card of the T400s (onboard graphic) will be powerfull enough to drive 2 external TFTs, each at 1600x1200 pixel. I am using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Dreamweaver most of the time and sometimes Photoshop. Although I don't need 3D graphics, working with the described software should be still comfortable. I don't like the fan noise the currently owned Advanced Dock makes, and therefore I would accept a less powerfull graphic card. But if it takes 15 seconds or so to move a window from one screen to another or if I have to expect extrem bucking/juddering while scrolling in Word or Photoshop the T400s would not be the right choose.Do you have any experiences with a Thinkpad driving 1 or 2 external screens using the onbard graphic solution? Are my worries eligible or should... Read more

Answer:Changing a dual screen setup from T60+Dock to T400s ?

1) No what you suggest is not possible. Some one said yes, but i have never able to do it, and no one so far have show any concrete evidence of able to do it. 2) No it is not that slow, integrated graphics card are no longer that slow anymore, the X4500 GPU can natively decode Blu-ray without assistance from the CPU, so it is not too shabby.... apparently it is on par with Nvidia 8400M. Also Photoshop is more reliant on the CPU than GPU. I could do word with my T60 using GMA950 on two external UXGA screen with little lag. 3) that i am not too sure about.

I know this is a common problem, but so far I did not find a solution to it.  The external monitors connected to my prodock via VGA and DVI blacks out every few seconds, especially during heavy usage. At first, I thought it was a power supply issue so I bought a 90W supply. Now the monitors stays on most of the time, but still blacks out every 10 minutes or so, even during standby with minimal power usage. Then I tried editing the integrated graphics settings, updating/rolling back graphics driver, flashing the docking station firmware with every version I can find, and switching to ubuntu on the other drive, but there wasn't a single combination of settings which would keep the external monitor on for more than an hour without blacking out/disconnecting.  So what should I do now?  System info:i7 5600u, 12G RAM, 16G + 128G ssd, 500G hdd, NO 940M, FHD IPS nontouch screen, Windows 10/Ubuntu 16.04Thinkpad Prodock 04A1, 45W/90W power supply. All USB and audio ports works perfectly. Both monitors are 1440x900 at 60Hz, works flawlessly when attached to laptop VGA port.

Hello everyone, I have a Thinkpad W510 laptop connected to two monitors using a 4338 dock with DVI connections from the dock to the monitors. I have this same configuration at my home office and work office locations. At both locations, there is no output from the second display, even though the second monitor is being detected by the OS (Win7 Enterprise SP1, 64-bit). Under Device Manager, I have uninstalled both monitors and the NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M display card and reinstalled them which did not resolve the issue. This configuration was working without issue for over a year. This is a laptop provided by my company so I not sure if one of their software updates caused this issue. Any assistance the community can provide in troubleshooting this issue would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:Display issue with dual monitors via DVI on ThinkPad W510 with 4338 dock

I got the new surface dock to use with my SP3. The behavior of my monitor with the dock is very different than if plugged directly into the surface, in particular when hibernating & waking. The monitor isn't detected soon enough in the wake cycle, so all my windows get all screwed up (some programs crash) upon wake. This is the same behavior I get if I use Sleep instead of hibernate with my external display connected directly to the surface (apparently the w10 graphics drivers are the culprit, no luck getting meaningful answers from support).
Anyone else seeing this behavior? If there's no work around, the dock is going to have to go back which ... sucks. I like not messing with all the cables all the time.

Answer:New Surface dock, external display issue when waking SP3. Has anyone else experienced this?

For my SP3, the external monitor will not work when plugged through the new dock, at all. When I plug the monitor directly to the SP3 without setting anything differently on the monitor, it works. When I plug it through the dock, it flashes a message very quickly on the monitor about setting the resolution to what it is already set at. Is this an issue with the new dock or a driver problem? I am using a mini display cable to a DVI monitor port.

My laptop isn't charging when I plug the adaptor in to the back of the dock.  When I'm on the dock with the adaptor plugged into the laptop, if  I hover over the green battery icon in the system tray, it tells me I should plug in the dock: "AC power is detached from your docking station.  For proper battery charging and docking station operation, connect the AC adaptor to the docking station." I'm not supposed to use two separate power adaptors, am I? (One for the dock and one for the laptop)?I think I might have a bad dock.

Answer:Mini Dock Plus Series 3 - Do I have to plug in both the dock and the laptop, or just the dock?

No, you only need to plug the dock in. When I remove the AC adaptor from my dock, the dock stops working completely -- display port shuts down and the green light next to the dock's power button turns off. Do you have a 90 watt adaptor plugged into the dock? It sounds like you have a bad dock or docking connector.

Hi there, I have a spectre x360 which I am using with 2 monitors: 1 x 24in monitor plugged via HDMI - HDMI lead1 x 27in monitor pluged via mini DP - full size DP lead I have the laptop screen and the 2 monitor screens on at the same time - so effectivily im using a total of 3 screens. Everything works fine until the laptop goes to sleep. When I wake up the laptop, the laptop screen and the monitor plugged in via HDMI turn on. The monitor plugged in via display port doesnt wake up. The only fix is to unplug the mini displayport cable and plug it back in to the laptop - this wakes up the monitor. The issue with unplugging and plugging the cable back in is all the windows that I had opened get moved about and its very frustrating. Please advise how I can get the laptop to wake up both monitors. thanks

I have a W530 and I am trying to connect to a Dell S2740L monitor.  When doing so via RGB, no problem.  I can split the images/programs between the two separately. when I connect to the same monitor via the mini-display port using a converter to plug the HDMI connector, the best I can do is duplicate the PC screen or have the PC screen pushed over to the monitor and the laptop screen becomes the extended one.   I can't get the PC screen to be primary and the external monitor to be secondary. I have tried the various options using "Display" and "Screen Resolution" but none allow me to create the scenario described above. Any suggestions? thanks

Hi Community, I've searched the forums but have not found the exact match to my question. Wich is:I have a T400 with dual gfx, and i can switch between these with PowerManager (using the intel to save power, and the ATI to.. use power... )Today it's setup to use two external monitors connected to my docking station, and what i want to accomplish is athree monitor setup using both external monitors + my laptop monitor. From my experiments it only seems like one gfx can be active at one time, and each gfx can only produce two monitors. What are my options?  Thanks!!

Answer:T400 - Laptop monitor + two external with dock

you only can use one GFX at any time. You can only run 2 monitors at any one time. If you need an additional external monitor whilst running the internal LCD, you would need to get a Lenovo usb2dvi converter.

Hi folks. New here.  Sorry if this has  been asked/answered, but I searched and didn't find it. My company got me this great new W500 laptop.  Came with minidock and external monitor. I have the monitor plugged into the minidock, and have it to the right of the laptop. Laptop is monitor #2, and external LCD display is #2.  works great.  UNTIL.... If I lock the console, and fold the laptop monitor closed (to have it power off - i.e. at lunch break, etc...) When I come back, the external monitor is now monitor #1 (has the windows task bar, Start menu, etc...) and it thinks the laptop monitor is monitor #2.  I can't figure out how to switch them back without rebooting.  It's very frustrating, b/c the 'sides' are swapped too.  Meaning the external LCD display which is physically to the right, is "on the left" as far as Windows is concerned, so if I drag the mouse off-screen to the right of the external display, it arrives on the left side of the laptop (which is physically to the left). Is there a simple solution to this?  I can't live with having to reboot every time I lock my monitor. I'm using Windows XP if that makes a difference.

Answer:Dual Monitor issue. Lock console & external monitor becomes monitor #1

more information... It's the 'advanced minidock' with keys. The monitor is connected via the DVI port, not the plain old VGA port.

I am having display problems inserting my w550s in and out of the Ultra Dock with dual connected monitors.  I have to reboot the PC when I insert or remove to get it to display correctly.  When I boot, it displays correctly in either mode. i.e. if I boot it up outside the dock, then the built in display looks correct, but when I insert it into the dock and it switches over to the dual monitors, The Icons and text are huge.  If I boot it up while inserted in the dock, then it displays correctly on the dual monitors, but when I remove it, icons and text are really small.  This requires me to perform a restart every time I insert or remove my w550s from the dock.  Not very useful. Any suggestions to resolve this issue?

Dear All, I am using an X201 in conjunction with an external TFT display in an extended desktop configuration. The X201 display is used as the primary. My OS is Windows 7 enterprise. There is a problem which has been bugging me and I have been unable to find a solution. The problem is that when running in this dual monitor configuration, the desktop icons move around if I place the mouse pointer near the edges of either display. The move off the screen in some instances such that only a few of them are still visible. This does not happen when using only the X201 panel without an external display connected. I'm aware this is more of a Windows 7 issue but was wondering whether anyone else with this configuration has noticed this rather odd and irritating behaviour.

Gentlepeople,

Good Day !!!

Is it possible to connect a external monitor with Tecra S5-12L and use both display at the same time.

My Laptop details: http://www.toshiba.nl/innovation/jsp...U&ERROR=0#tab7;

OS: Win7 32 bit

I had installed value added package from toshiba but still i cannot able to connect and use laptop display and the 2nd monitor at the same time. i.e my PC is not detecting the 2 monitors at the same time.

If i connect the external monitor and restart the PC then my PC takes the external monitor as a main display and the laptop screen is not detected any more.

If i disconnect the external monitor and restart the PC then the PC monitor acts as a primary monitor and after the booting up in connecting the external monitor the PC is not detecting any more.

Before i used to use to connect it with TV and i can get the TV and the PC monitor to work at the same time but at the time i was using Windows XP. Now connecting to TV, I cannot able to get the TV and the laptop screen working at the same time.

Is it true that we cannot able to use the PC monitor and an external monitor at the same time ? or is there any settings that i should perform to get the dual monitors working ? Please share your view if its know.. thanks...

There is no problem in the cable nor the monitor as i tested it with other PC(ASUS, Win 7 64 bit) and its working fine.

Is there any limitation in hardware or its just software issue/settings.
Please support !!!

My ThinkPad T500 running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional Edition worked great on and off a mini docking station with 2 external monitors. The dual-display setup allowed me to have more desktop space; when needed, I can take the laptop off the docking station (following undocking steps) and use it anywhere. This convenience no longer holds after upgrading to Windows 10.

With the T500 in the docking station (LCD lid closed), I can use the dual-display setup as in Windows 7. However, after shut-down and remove the T500 off the docking station and the T500 laptop becomes unusable because its LCD display doesn't show anything after boot. (While booting the laptop's display shows the ThinkPad boot logo and then some DOS-mode boot messages and then the windows 10 logo and its dotted spinning wheel; after the initial boot the display went blank and the Windows 10 desktop doesn't come up.)

The only way to make the T500 laptop usable on its own is to go through a "preparation procedure" and here is how the procedure goes: While the T500 is on the docking station in the dual-display setup with the 2 external monitors, open the T500's lid and set its display as the main display and then select to disconnect the other 2 external displays (in the Settings -> System -> Display page); then , in the T500's LCD display, select the shut down. Once the T500 is properly powered off, remove it from the docking station and the T500 can work on its own as a laptop supposed to be. W... Read more

Hello all,My sales rep is telling me in order to have multi monitor display (1 being the laptop screen, and the 2nd being the external monitor) that a docking station would be required. can anyone confirm this? with my current laptop (dell d820) i can just plug in my external monitor and 'extend' my desktop to that monitor. I would need to do the same with the W510. thanks.

Answer:W510 with external monitor - do you need a docking station for dual display?

I would hope your sales rep was a little more knowledgeable than that.....

You can indeed plug an external monitor directly into the ThinkPad and either extend or clone your desktop.  I believe the W510 has a VGA port (analog) and a DisplayPort (digital).  If you want to plug in a DVI monitor, you can either buy a DVI-to-DisplayPort adapter or go the route your sales rep recommended and buy the Mini Dock with a built-in DVI connector.

I am using a 22" screen for my primary screen and the laptop lid open for a secondary screen. The main screens resolution is 1680x1050, I can set it to anything I want and it's always using the full screen. The laptop screen on the other hand will only use the full screen if it's at 1400x1050 resolution (max for that screen, IBM Thinkpad T43). With the large 22" screen I have no trouble reading the screen at high resolutions, the screen is huge, with the little 14" screen though I have to strain to read the screen at 1400x1050.

The problem is when I set the laptop screen to anything lower than 1400x1050, it uses less of the screen. Preferrably I want it at 1280x1024 or 1024x768 (I dont know which I want yet as I can't see the freaking screen at that resolution). At 1280x1024 for instance the useable screen is just a box in the middle, so the "1280x1024" is still barely readable for me cause it's shrunk from full screen, plus it's just annoying only using a portion of the screen.

I have played with the ATI Control Center, the Thinkpad display settings and windows display settings and just cannot get this thing to go full screen at lower resolutions when docked and using the external monitor.

Anyway to resolve this?

I currently have 2 monitors (on an Asus and the other an Acer) they are both 22in monitors and have 1920x1080 display. I have been attempting to use a dual monitor sized background image but my Acer monitor isnt displaying the image as full screen like it should. The image I am using for my background is 3840x1080 so I would think it would be full screen on both monitors. I tried manually adjust the display of the monitor vertically via the monitor's internal menu but the option to move it is not selectable and acer tech-support was unable to pin-point the problem. I have attached a picture so you can see exactly what I see. (Its the left side monitor that is the issue) (Note** The black bars that are in the picture [on the bottom on the right side and on the top on left] I dont actually see on my monitors. I previously had dual monitors and one of them burned out. I am trying to replace that monitor with one we had sitting around in the office not being used. I connected it and triple checked that everything is plugged in right, but the computer is not detecting it. I have gone through all the display devices to update drivers but, again, the monitor is not being detected. I have also tried to follow the steps here but in the setting tab I dont have the drop down menu to select multiple monitors. It's as if the monitor is not plugged in to the computer at all. The monitor has power and currently displays "Dell 2: Digital Input Self Test Feature Check; Red Green Blue White"

Do I have to install monitor software or something?

Thanks for the help!

I'm trying two run two monitors (one VGA, one DVI) from the two available ports on my mini-dock running W500 with XP operating system. Laptop can go blank while the two monitors are working. Other posts imply I can do this, but I can't get the second to run, only one + laptop screen.  Any advice?thanks

Answer:Dual monitors from mini-dock for W500?

When you say you can't get the "second" one to run - is that always the DVI one?  I'm guessing you have your system in Intel graphics mode.  Intel graphics doesn't work with the DVI port on the dock or the DisplayPort on the side.  You need to be in ATI mode to use all of your ports.  Since you're running XP, you'd have to make this change from the BIOS during bootup (hit F1) and change the graphics to "Performance" mode instead of power saving graphics or switchable (not supported on XP).

Answer:T61 with a mini dock to large LCD display

I have never tried to use HDMI on my setup but I can say with certainty that the Quadro card on the laptop can easily output 1920x1600 through the pass-thru DVI on the advanced mini-dock.  If u want to go further with a 30" display, I am not sure.  However, u can get the advanced full dock, which supports an add-on for low profile PCI express cards, which should come in dual link flavor for 30"+ LCD's (unless your LCD does not require dual link, at which point, I'm not sure of the max output via DVI).  However, the advanced full dock only takes half height/low profile cards, which are exceedingly difficult to find if u are looking for a high end and high quality card.

Hi, I use my T61 with XP in a Mini dock.when I dock it with either the notebook running or in suspend mode, and it connects to the docking station, then since a few days the display gets blank. There is an external Monitor which attached to the dock which ran fine at the docking station and wich also works fine when I power-up the notebook in the docking station. When disconnecting from the dock the display switches back to normal mode with the proper resolution even when it was dark before.

After the recent Windows 10 update, my wife's laptop no longer displays on the external monitor. All was well before the update.

I am comfortable that Windows sees the monitor because clicking on Display Settings shows two displays. If I unplug the HDMI cable, only one display is shown.

I have confirmed that the monitor works by trying it with another laptop. I have also changed the HDMI cable between the laptop and the external monitor.

Device manager reports that I have the latest display driver installed.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

Hello everyone, I own a Lenovo ThinkPad W510. It has the NVidia Quadro 880M. I want to be able to use three external monitors. I have three Viewsonic monitors, each with one VGA and one DVI-A/D inputs. If I buy the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (170W), will I be able to use these three monitors simultaneously (without the laptop screen, just the monitors)? I am assuming two of the monitors can be plugged in via DVI, and the third can be VGA? Can I accomplish this same goal by using a DVI splitter cable? To do this, I would connect one monitor directly to the VGA port on the W510, and then connect two monitors using a DVI splitter to the Displayport using a displayport->DVI adapter. Here is the DVI splitter I am talking about: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-DVISPL1DD-1-Feet-Digital-Splitter/dp/B00111EMMO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF... Thank you!

Answer:W510 + Mini Dock Plus 3 = 3 external monitors possible?

what is the resolution of your viewsonic monitors? You have couple of solutions available. The dock is not going to help you.

One day I was using the laptop surfing the net normally, everything was fine and suddenly the display gone wrong...(pic below). I tried using an external monitor and still the same, so I am quite sure that my monitor is fine and it's probably a display card problem?
I tried to update my display card driver and no luck, so I decided to use the recovery CD to restore the system, and no luck again.

Here is a screenshot after the system restore...is there a way to repair this without taking it to a service centre??
thanks

Answer:Tecra S1 - Display issue, even on external monitor

Hi borist,

It?s really great that you could post a picture of your problem. Thank you!
Furthermore you tried already a lot of like recovery installation and an external monitor.

Unfortunately it seems to be a hardware malfunction of graphic card. :(

So that means you have to exchange the mainboard because the graphic card is fixed on it. Mainboard is pretty expensive part and Tecra S1 is old notebook so maybe you can get a second hand mainboard or notebook on eBay and exchange it yourself.

Good luck! :)

After installing the 1.19 BIOS the external Acer X233H flat panel (1920 x 1080) is horribly unstable.  I used it instead of the T400s LCD via a docking station.  The Acer display is unusable - it appears to get and lose synchonisation every few milliseconds.  It is always like this during boot and after windows 7 x64 comes up.  Once booted if I go to the T400s LCD, and back to the Acer it will usually settle down.  The BIOS readme states the BIOS fixes some external display problems, but it seems to have caused others. There does not appear to be a way to back off to the older BIOS.  Is that correct?  No older BIOS files were visible on the downloads page.  I also tried to reinstall 1.19 just in case, but the clever utility says I already have it and stops there.

Answer:T400s - 1.19 BIOS Problem w/external display

1. are you using the displayport, dvi, or vga port on the thinkpad.2. does the problem occur if you are using the T400s own displayport or vga.

I have a T500 with XP installed. I am using it docked into a mini dock attached to two 20inch Viewsonic monitors. One connected via VGA and the other DVI. I setup the dual monitors just fine. Anytime after I undock and boot up the laptop I can't get the dual monitors to automatically display. I have to go into the display properties and re set it up each time. Can anyone suggest any ideas?

Answer:Can't get dual monitors to come back up when docking. T500 with mini dock & XP

When your T500 power-on , press F1 to log in BIOS, and change the option in >config>Display>Boot-Display-Device to Both or VGA, I suppose that it will reslove your problem.

Hello What is the max resolution for an external monitor connected to a thinkpad t400s  ? The reason i am asking is that: a) Intel says:  the max resolution of Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD is 2048x1536 b) Lenovo says:  DisplayPort + D-sub dual-display output support 25601600 maximum resolution What are your experiences and what maximum resolutions on external monitors have you succesfuly tried in real life ? Would it be possible to connect a 30" monitor at 2560x1600  to a thinkpad t400s ?

Answer:T400s max resolution for external monitor ?

i don't know and i never tried but i'm inclined to trust intel more than lenovo on this...unless the t400s has some beefed-up x4500mhd

I'm having problems with my wallpapers intended to span the length of both monitors....

My main display is on the right instead of the left and when i use a wallpaper that spans both screens it starts on the main display on the right and spans to the left screen instead of starting on the left screen and spanning to the right. Is there anyway to fix this other than moving the 2 monitors physically or changing my main display to the left monitor?

It works fine if i make the left monitor my main display but i use the right monitor as my main because it has internal speakers and if it doesn't get any signal it goes to sleep muting the sound.

Hi everyone.
I have an Alienware 15 R2 (i7 4720HQ, 970M, 16GB, FHD) running windows 10.
I have set it up in desktop mode by connecting it to ASUS MG28UQ 4K monitor, mouse and keyboard. The monitor is connected through the laptop's mini dp port.
The problem is that when I boot up the laptop with the monitor connected, the laptop's internal sound card (SoundBlaster Redcon 3di) does not function, and is not available in the audio playback devices menu. The intel display audio works, though.
But when i shut down the laptop, disconnect the monitor, and then boot it back up, the sound card is detected and functional, and stays funtional even after i connect the monitor to laptop after it has booted. It keeps working until i reboot, after rebooting the same thing happens.
Any ideas what might be going wrong?

Things i tried:
reinstalled sound card driver
windows troubleshoot

Thanks in advance

Answer:Sound Card not detected when laptop boots up with external monitor (mini dp) connected - Alienware 15 R2 (4720HQ)

First, make sure that the display audio device is not 'disabled' in Device Manager. When connected through HDMI this should be enabled. If it is disabled, try enabling it and see if that resolves the problem.

Second, I would suggest downloading the latest graphics drivers from Intel. This should also update the HDMI audio drivers, and may fix the problem. You may also need 4th Generation or later CPU graphics drivers. You may want to download Intel's driver updater, to automatically search for drivers.

I have a Lenovo T61 running Vista 32-bit in an advanced mini dock. My question is, can the hotkeys, such as FN-F5 to control the wireless radios, work with an external keyboard such as the Logitech MX3200? It doesn't work for me and I wonder whether the hotkeys are strictly intended for the notebook's own keyboard.  When I press FN-F5 on the Logitch keyboard nothing happens.

Is anyone aware of an external fingerprint reader that functions with the W700 and the mini dock? This worked perfectly with my T60p when it was docked, but the change of the internal fingerprint reader does not function with an external. I spend half my time in an office with my W700 docked to a large monitor, full size keyboard, printer, etc and wouldn't normally open my laptop. I now have to leave the laptop open simply to use the fingerprint reader. Not exactly the aesthetics that I want.

Hi All I have a T530 with Intel HD Graphics 3000 and a Mini Dock Series 3. I've done lots of googling, but I can't seem to find out: 1. If this hardware supports dual monitors.2. How to setup dual monitors with Windows.3. How to setup dual monitors with Linux. Can someone help me at least with 1, please? I've tried connecting 2 monitors to the docking station. One VGA and one via a VGA convertor to the DVI-D port. Windows seems to half detect the monitor on the DVI port, but I can get nothing out of it. Fn + F7 isn't helping me much either. ThanksPaul T520 (love it) & Mini Dock Series 3

Answer:T530, Mini Dock Series 3, Intel Graphics & Dual Monitors

1. Yes, that is without the internal LCD on. But you can get more screen support (> 2 screens), if you use displaylink usb video adapters (i.e. ThinkPad USB 3.0 docks), or use a displayport to dvi, vga, displayport splitter (i.e. Lenovo displaylink splitter). 2. DVI-D is a digital video only video output port, so it won't support a simple DVI to VGA adapter, only a DVI-I port does. If you need another VGA port, you would need a Displayport to VGA converter. 3. Same issue as above, it is basically you got the converter wrong. Once you have the displayport to vga converter you should be fine.

Hi, I have a Lenovo T500 model 2055CTO running Windows XP SP3.  I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3650 display, with Driver version 8.563.2.1000 dated 04/01/2009.  My BIOS version/date is 3.01 - 5/15/2009.  My BIOS display settings have the Boot Display Device as Thinkpad LCD with Graphics Device = Discreet. I have two Planar PE191M displays connected to a 2504 Mini Dock, one in the VGA port and one in the DVI port.  The displays can be connected either digitally or analog.  When I run the ATI Catalyst Control Center, the available display devices shows the Notebook Panel (DDC display), the Analog monitor (PE191M) and the Digital Flat Panel (PE191M).  Even though the Digital Device is listed as available, when I select it, it never works.  It's as if no signal is sent to the display.  I know both the dock and display work, as they work fine when I connect my old T60p to the dock. I've treied changing the BIOS Graphic Device to Switchable mode which invokes the Intel display device, but this does not work.  I wonder if anyone else has a similar experience, if this is related to the driver or BIOS, and if anyone has any ideas on how to get the digital output to work. Thanks!

Answer:T510 not connecting to apple 30' display through mini dock

Make sure you are using a dual dvi cable and not an older single version.  You can usually tell by the amount of pins which are missing in the connector A dual link cable will have all of the pins included, while a single link digital will be missing 2 rows, and an analog only cable will have even fewer. I would also make sure that the dock supports dual link as well..  WHAT ARE SINGLE AND DUAL LINKS ?The Digital formats are available in DVI-D Single-Link and Dual-Link as well as DVI-I Single-Link and Dual-Link format connectors. These DVI cables send information using a digital information format called TMDS (transition minimized differential signaling). Single link cables use one TMDS 165Mhz transmitter, while dual links use two. The dual link DVI pins effectively double the power of transmission and provide an increase of speed and signal quality; i.e. a DVI single link 60-Hz LCD can display a resolution of 1920 x 1200, while a DVI dual link can display a resolution of 2560 x 1600.

I recently added two new HP Pavilion 27xi monitors to my ThinkPad T430 with my Thinkpad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USAB 3.0 90W docking station.  Both monitors are connected with DVI cables.  The T430 is running Windows 7 64-bit as sold and has all the latest windows and Lenovo updates including the latest BIOS version 2.64.1.13 on 03/22/2014. The problem I have been having for over 3 weeks is that one of the two displays won?t stay asleep.  I am using the ThinkVantage Technologies Power Manager (Latest 6.64.4 version) to set the Idle Timer for the ?Turn off display? setting to 20 minutes.  When the idle timer is reached, both monitors successfully go to sleep.  The primary monitor however, will wake itself up after 10 seconds and flash its build-it pop-up message "Monitor Going to Sleep".  It will sleep for 5 to 10 seconds and repeat.  It never stays asleep unless the T430 is fully powered OFF.  This not an issue where the T430 fails to enter ?Sleep? mode (as this work fine).  It is the Power Manager setting for turn off the DISPLAYS when the idle timer is reached.  I have opened support tickets with both HP and Microsoft and done some extensive troubleshooting.  Below are links to the two threads in case you want to see more details to date? HP: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Audio-Video-Monitors/Pavilion-27xi-Dual-Monitor-Sleep-Issue/td-...Microsoft: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind... Hi Aside from the woes of opting to put an OCZ Vertex 2 SSD in a T510 (drive bay very snug and OCZ have firmware issues with some drives...) I am also seeing a problem with the T510 when docked. On the dock from booting up you dont get any video output until Windows loads. The monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 205BW. The T510 has the Nvidia Optimus card, and I have tried all the options in the BIOS. Strangely in the BIOS the description text in the right hand column doesnt quite match the BIOS options, as the descriptions mentions extra options that arent visible (cant recall right now without shutting down!). I am booting up with the lid on the laptop closed, as I have on 3 previous generations of Thinkpad without having this issue (admittedly on analogue VGA, but I am sure at least one worked on DVI too...) Anyone else seeing this type of issue? I have searched around and seen similar issues with regard to DVI or multi-monitors, but not specifically just getting DVI output from power on.

Answer:T510 with Advanced Mini Dock 3 and DVI monitor

I know that using older models with switchable graphics this is normal behavior for all the digital ports (DVI, Displayport...), but for VGA there was no such issues. I'm not actually sure if this is normal behavior for the Optimus models as well. I never tried to reboot my optimus Thinkpad when connected to an external monitor using DVI during boot. Did you try VGA just to see if everything works fine during boot?

For the switchable graphics models you could go into BIOS and disable switchable graphics by selecting "discrete" and digital ports worked fine during boot, but then switchable graphics would be disabled as well.

As i said i'm not really sure about the behavior of optimus and maybe someone else could give you an answer, but if it's the same as optimus this would be normal behavior during boot when using the digital ports when Optimus is enabled in BIOS.

I have a dell laptop that has 1920x1080 resolution. However, i connect it to an external monitor that has 1920x1200 resolution. Basically almost everything i do is on my external monitor which acts as my main primary screen. Thus i do sometimes open some windows or drag a window or so to the other screen like youtube etc to the laptop screen which is the secondary monitor.

My issue at the moment is everything is way too big on the laptop screen. I want to have 1920x1080 resolution but its way too big. I googled what is my resolution on it and it shows 1536 x 864. Can someone tell me how to change this to 1920x1080? I googled what is my resolution on the external monitor and it does show 1920x1200 which is correct.

I have a T61 with 2 x Philips external widescreen monitors attached (220WS model if it helps) connected into the DVI & VGA ports. The DVI connected screen is perfectly fine, the VGA one is extremely fuzzy and with major shadowing on the text. I've swapped the screens over and the cables, reset everything, tried all the options on the screens so i know it's not related to the hardware specifically. Both are running at 1680 x 1050 @ 60Hz \ 32bit. There are no options to change the refresh rate above 60Hz. Drivers are all up-to-date as far as I can tell. Any suggestions? thanks!

Answer:Fuzzy External Screen on VGA port - T61 & Advanced Mini Dock

just to make sure that the VGA port is the culprit, undock your laptop and use the T61's native VGA port and see whether the fuzziness remains, if it is gone, then it is saying that the dock's VGA port has hardware problems and may need to be replaced.

I have a T60 laptop, WinXP Pro SP3, 1GB RAM.  The laptop works fine if it is not docked but once I put it on the Mini Dock, the video loses the 3D effects and gray boxes appear around the Icon titles.  I've done windows updates (even went so far as to update to SP3 - issue began before the SP3 update), IBM updates, checked for errors in the device manager but to no avail.  It drives me nuts to look at the video this way but it's really inconvienient to have to plug monitor, keyboard, mouse & speakers into the laptop then unplug everything when I need to take it somewhere. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this issue and how to resolve it? Thanks.

At my work we have a number of Toshiba Portege R500 series laptops. All the laptops are docking into a Toshiba Slim Port Replicator II. The laptops are all running a build of Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 applied (and obviously some business customisation).

The problem is with the display on the External monitor. The laptop boots up as per normal and logs in fine. The Fn + F5 buttons are pressed and as a result we can switch between the external LCD monitor and the laptop monitor. We can also extend the desktop to the external monitor without a problem.

The problem is that when undocking the laptop from the Replicator, when the laptop is redocked, the external monitor display does not display anything. The monitor is receiving a signal as we do not get any errors about "cable disconnected" etc. By cycling through Fn+F5, the monitor will go to sleep (as the setting is only to be on the laptop screen). Pressing Fn+F5 again, the monitor looks to wake up but there is no display on the external monitor.

The only resolution we have found for this so far is to shutdown & restart the laptop and the external display works again. However undock, and the problem re-occurs.

Thought this might be a driver issue or a Toshiba utilities issue, so have updated the drivers accordingly. The drivers installed by default are the Intel 945 Express driver version 6.14.10.4837. I have attempted to update the drivers to the next version up (using ... Read more

Hi everyone, I'm seeking a clarification to the T400s specifications: I'm reading that one can use the DisplayPort and the VGA at the same time with the T400s. But can one use the LCD panel as well? Hi saketvora, The T400s uses the same integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD as the T400. You can choose any two video outputs simultaneously. For more, the Lenovo USB-to-DVI Monitor Adapter or similar could be a good choice. Another member reports good results with it in this thread. Cheers,Frank

Hello.I have just bought a new LCD display and wanted to connect it with an Advanced Mini Dock through a DVI cable. There is an integrated graphics chip on my 7658-CTO, which definitely didn't simplify matters. I connected a monitor, powered on T61 and... of course screen remained blank. Then I switched boot display device in BIOS to DVI (in fact tested every option) still with no success. I found on this forum an opinion saying that getting DVI to work actually depends on monitor you connect with it, which, to be honest, sounded bizarre. I got neither other TP nor other monitor to test, so gave up. Few days later I inserted ubuntu 7.10 livecd (rather the old one) forgetting that dock was still connected with monitor through DVI (which didn't work though) and... it just worked It looks like there's a problem with Intel Driver (installed by System Update, Vista Basic 64bit) or Lenovo is software-blocking usage of DVI by integrated graphics (which completely doesn't make sense). I just wonder how can not official intel_agp driver work on Linux and, at the same time, official Intel Driver can't handle DVI on Windows. Any ideas? Can this be a matter of sequence in which Lenovo's software should be installed (I don't use images, rather do a clean Windows install and then fire System Update, allowing Windows Update only to install security updates and letting SU install drivers part)?Message Edited by ebd123 on 01-15-2009 10:04 AM
