T500 Intel Graphics Anomalies with a side of BlueTooth

Question: T500 Intel Graphics Anomalies with a side of BlueTooth

Greetings, I have my system configured to use the Intel Integrated graphics (set to internal in the bios to save power) and I am experiencing the following graphical problems. I am running the latest bios and display driver from Lenovo, as provided by ThinkVantage System Update. Details of the drivers are in the directx diagnostics below. I have tried to install the latest Intel graphics driver from Intel's website for this chipset, but it says that my system is not supported (possibly something to do with ATI's Hybrid Graphics). This does not occur in OpenSUSE 11.2 (even with the 3D Gnome desktop), but it does in Windows x64 with Aero. It usually occurs after watching SlingBox or NetFlix Instant View, but it has occurred in the past without those activities. It has not occurred when using the ATI graphics adapter (set to dedicated in the bios), at least from the limited amount that I have made use of it. Model: 20828zu DirectX Diagnostics (full system / driver specs):http://home.comcast.net/~quako33/MISC/DxDiag.txt Screenshots of the problem:http://home.comcast.net/~quako33/Images/gpu_problem1.pnghttp://home.comcast.net/~quako33/Images/gpu_problem3.png Any ideas on how to resolve this without having to switch over to the ATI graphics adapter will be appreciated. Finally... the bluetooth question... any keystroke to disable only the bluetooth? When I hit fn+f5, it disables the wifi and the bluetooth. A way to disable it in OpenSUSE 11.2 Gnome (like I can in Windows) would accomplish the same goal. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: T500 Intel Graphics Anomalies with a side of BlueTooth

It's a bug in the drivers. If you have 2+1GB or 2+4GB of RAM memory this will occur. Did you try to disable Aero? It might help. From what I understand the only way to fix this issue is to buy another 2GB module (2+2GB), or wait until a new graphics driver is released. Regarding the Bluetooth;Make sure you have Lenovo Hotkey Installed (If you have ran Lenovo System Update you probably have this installed).Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY" and open "TpFnF5.exe" and hit the "Settings for Fn + F5" button. I must admit I didn't really get if you had the Fn + F5 issues in Windows or OpenSUSE, but the behavior for Fn + F5 under Ubuntu 9.10 is:WLAN/BT/OFF toggle (Fn+F5 press once: Wlan and BT off/Press second time: BT off, Wlan on/Third time: BT on, Wlan off/Press another time: BT and Wlan on)If that is of any help to you.

I'm experiencing display anomalies, especially when I'm scrolling pages up and down, there are sometimes leftover lines of displayed graphics left on the screen from content displayed further up or down the page or even the program's toolbar after it's been scrolled to a new position. The only way to get rid of these is to scroll the page back to its previous position and then return it to a new position. There are also some issues with the video content, for example when the video is resized inside a video player to a smaller size, it leaves the imprint inside the video container of what was previously displayed in larger size instead of coloring the borders black. I'm using the latest Intel Graphics drivers downloaded from Lenovo Drivers Support page. Is this normal behavior? If not, can any of these problems be fixed?

I'm still not sure what could be the cause of this. Could be ClearType, but I really have no clue.

Yes the version numbers are slightly different. The Lenovo version is newer, and verified/customized for your system, so I would stick with that.

I have a T500 with XP Pro running the latest Intel graphics driver (Mobile Intel 4 Express, driver 6.14.10.5220.  I have found that using the Display Properties window to manage dual displays does not work quite right. ... I can enable the external monitor and change its relative location without issues, but the moment I try to set the "Use this device as the primary monitor" checkbox and click Apply, it just disables the external monitor instead.   Does anyone know of a way to get this working?  I know that as a work-around I can simply use the Intel driver utility to manage my displays, but I really don't want to have to retrain users on how to get a second monitor to work on their laptops.  I'm assuming it's some kind of driver flaw that prevents the Display Properties window from interfacing with the adapter properly, but Lenovo's support dismissed this as a non-issue, so I'm posting it here to see if anyone can shed some light on this.  We work with various model laptops here and this is the first time I've seen the display properties window not able to manage dual displays properly. Thank you in advance. -Matt

I bought a Lenovo T500 with a faulty ATI card which worked perfectly well with switchable graphics disabled. Unfortunately for some stupid reason I decided to test the ATI card and turned switchable graphics feature on in BIOS. Now the laptop boots to a black screen (internal / external) and I cannot get to the option to disable hybrid feature. Is there some way to re-set the BiOS settings so that I can use the intel graphics?I tried to remove the bios battery, hoping it would reset CMOS but this resulted in a few extra beeps and not much else.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Forum, I purchuased a T500 on friday, installed WinXp Pro and tried to get everything to work. So far so good but noticed two problems. My left keyboard side is making strange "clicking" noises while i'm typing. I even noticed that when i push the buttons down a little bit harder, the whole keyboard lowers itself a bit. I get this clicking sounds also when I hit the trackpoint, so the whole issue is very disturbing. On the right side of the keyboard everything works fine, no clacking or something so i think it might be a failure? Onan R61I could not reproduce this.  Second Problem is probably my own fault. I cannot initiate hibarnation. Normally i am used to hovering the mouse over the windows shutdown dialoge so that "Standby" changes to hibernation and I simply have to click on it. Might this problem be connected to a missing driver? Maybe i forgot one from? ATM I still have 2 unknown devices on my system, roughly translated to english these are: PCI - Communication ControllerPCI Serial Adapter First is probably bluethooth which i am downloading at.  But the second one? No idea.  Thanks for any help Regards,Teal

Answer:T500 2 problems, first: clacking left keyboard side, second: hibernation doesn't work

Okay, the missing hibernation support is working now. For the record: I needed to enable the "hibernate" option on your system. XP does not enable this by default. To enable it go to: "Control Panel", then select "Power Options" and then "Hibernate" tab. Check the box "enable hibernation". Works like a charm now. Thi first prolbem still exists though...

Is there any way to upgrade a Thinkpad T500's intel integrated graphics to the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 that is also a choice when building the machine?  Where would you get the card?  Does it require soldering or is it a slot-involved card?

Answer:T500 Discrete Graphics update from Integrated graphics

Welcome to the forum! You'd have to swap the whole motherboard, since the GPU is soldered to it, which would be a very costly solution. You're better off selling your machine and getting a new one configured with ATi if that's what you'd prefer. Hope this helps.

Hi,I've been looking all over the internet to find an answer to my query. I just got the new Elite ThinkPad T500 15.4" widescreen with discrete graphics. I have the ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 with 256mb graphics card on it and I want to know if that card can be upgraded to a better ATI graphics card like the FireGL that is available on the W500 or even the FirePro that is AMD's best graphics accelerator? Also, I am aware that I cannot switch out my GC for another company like NVIDIA, but I just wanted to verify if this information was correct? Lastly, if my GC is soldered on to the motherboard and not upgradeable, what are my other options for better graphics acceleration? also there is no interface available to connect any hardware to it, i know it has something to do with some Vaio software on the system.
it allows me to use dual band mode and it shows that blue tooth is present but disables it claiming interference with 2.4 GHz band.
now i have had blue tooth dongles installed working while using 2.4 GHz band before with no issues, so i don't get the issue now.

Answer:T500: add bluetooth

takedown,

This question has come up before in other threads.  Basically, the bluetooth card for the T500 is located behind the LCD bezel.  Any parts concerning the LCD are not replaceable by customers.

So if you order your system without bluetooth, the best route is a peripheral solution (like you already have).  Having a licensed servicer install this part would be expensive.

My keyboard won't stay connected to the Bluetooth. Windows disabled the Bluetooth and gave this messge: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)." What is this and how do I fix it? I can't get my Logitech K810 keybaord to stay connected. It pairs, and works for awhile, then disconnests, even though it says it is connected. Driver update says the drivers in place are the right ones. I've also tried Bluetooth dongles to connect with, but I get the same problem -- connects for a while and then disconnects.

My bluetooth functionality and even the icon disappeaered from my laptop.  The HP Service Assistant tried to do a network diagnostic and couldn't find a problem.  It said to go to the HP support site and load latest Bluetooth drivers.  The only drivers shown were for a Broadcom Bluetooth.  Not thinking I had a different Bluetoth system I downloaded and installed the Broadcom drivers.  Then I went to the device manager and saw that I did not have a Broadcom system, but an Intel system. (I should have done this earlier I know).  The device manager showed that the drivers were probably corrupted and it couldn't validate the digital signature for the drivers that were there. (Code 52) I revisited the device manager and looked at the properties tab of the drivers and the events tab under that.  It said there that Device USB/VID-8087&PID etc. needed further installation. Now I am confused and frustrated.  I don't want to try to instal this device if it is not the correct Intel device, but rather the Broadcom device. In other words, I don't want to screw things up even more. Can someone please tell me what to do?

Is the LED behind the bluetooth icon on the T500 panel permanently on?  In both XP and Win 7, I've never had bluetooth running in the background -- I've disabled the service.  I'll enable it should I ever need it.  For now it's just a battery drain. So what's the story on this light?  Does this mean that bluetooth is still running somehow?  If bluetooth is going to suck power regardless of my OS settings, I don't much see the point of this light -- it's always on anyway, so what does the light tell me exactly? Maybe my light is stuck?

Answer:T500 Bluetooth light always on

Disabling the driver doesn't disable power to the hardware.  Turn the hardware switch off on the front of the system and see if the light stays on.  If it does, contact Lenovo.fakelogin wrote:Is the LED behind the bluetooth icon on the T500 panel permanently on?  In both XP and Win 7, I've never had bluetooth running in the background -- I've disabled the service.  I'll enable it should I ever need it.  For now it's just a battery drain. So what's the story on this light?  Does this mean that bluetooth is still running somehow?  If bluetooth is going to suck power regardless of my OS settings, I don't much see the point of this light -- it's always on anyway, so what does the light tell me exactly? Maybe my light is stuck?

I have upgraded my T500 to windows 7 (for the G2 Intel SSD. Where's my TRIM damnit!) and I am trying to get my AD2P Bluetooth headset to talk to the laptop. The can pair but continually complain there is no driver for the Bluetooth peripheral device. I have the latest Thinkpad Bluetooth stack installed. Is there some way to fool the Broadcom drivers into letting me install the official stack? Is there some beta stack out there? This doesn't seem to be a Windows 7 issue, the pairing occurs, and I'm using the same driver the Vista people use. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Peter Berbec

Answer:T500 AD2P Bluetooth Woes

What do you mean by "Thinkpad Bluetooth stack installed"?is "stack" the same as software/driver? I can only witness my own problem: bluetooth installed correcty but didn't work properly. My laser bluetooth connection would often drop (although the mouse was always displayed in the device manager) and I always had to turn the bluetooth off and and on to make it work, which became irritating after a couple of weeks. I finally found out that I had the wrong driver version installed: If you look in the device manager, you will see that you probably have driver version 6.2.0.9000 for the bluetooth device.unfortunately this is not good enough after the xxxx9000 there are more numbers (which are not displayed).I realized there are 2 drivers version out there. the one that windows 7 installed and the one provided by Lenovo. The one provided by Microsoft has version 6.2.0.9000.300 I believe. the one provided by lenovo is 6.2.0.9000.000I uninstalled the most recent version xxxxxx.300 and put back the one from lenovo website.again, I can't remember if is was xxxxxx.300 but it was higher than xxxxx.000Since then my mouse works consistently

Hi guys, I recently had to replace HDD and install a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my laptop, and when it came to re-downloading drivers, I encountered a few problems. First being, the bluetooth. When I was installing the 'Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software' I kept getting an error: "Bluetooth SoftwareNo Bluetooth device was detected. Please make sure that your Bluetooth device is plugged in properly in order to continue installation."  Which is strange because when I inserted my previous hard drive, my bluetooth was working flawlessly. I even tried installing the same software from the same HDD onto other HDD, yet the problem persisted. The light on the panel is not lighting up. Another problem is with the Function keys. I downloaded and installed 4 different versions of  'Hotkey Features Integration' software, and I'm still not getting any feedback when using the volume keys, ThinkVantage button, Fn+F2, or any other one. I rebooted the computer multiple times, reinstalled the software multiple times, and even looked in CMOS settings as to 'what could be wrong'.  Thank you in advance.

As soon as I posted this, I frantically started hitting various Fn keys. After I pressed Fn+F8, the touchpad settings window popped up, a balloon saying "New hardware detected" and Bluetooth started installing, and when I clicked Fn+F5, the settings window came to life. I really don't know the cause of this, but I think something was stalling the system for 2 days straight. I don't know what the solution is, but if anyone will experience this in the future, please try hitting every single key on the F1-F12 row while holding Fn.  Regards, Ruslan.

So it seems the adapter is acting up.  It sees networking n linux it refuses to obtain an ip adress.  Windows 7 sees the network will connect sometimes but has a slooooooow connection and sometimes won't load the page.  Other times it won't connect.  I use another computer on same network and the internal adapter works fine.  It seem's other people are reporting the same problem. Has anybody heard of this problem or have a possible fix?

As the title says, does T500 with P8600 processor support Intel Virtual Technology? I know this processor supports it, what about BIOS?

Answer:Does T500 support Intel VT?

As Vista SP2 will include bluetooth 2.1 support, will there still be any point of installing the Lenovo driver? Do they offer any advantage over the micosoft drivers? Regarding the WLAN drivers, I see there are more recent drivers on the Intel website, but won't there be any problems if I use these? On their website intel mentions that you might want to use the laptop manufacturers drivers. Does it make any sense, speed-wise, not to install drivers for devices you usually never use (e.g. internal modem, card reader)? Thanks

Hi, I'm having some difficulty in getting my bluetooth headset to work with Skype (or anything else for that matter). here's the current state of things: My headset is set up and paired as a "hands free audio device". In "my bluetooth places" it shows up with a good signal strength. Authorization is set to "headset" only (no audio gateway). The version of the Broadcom Bluetooth Software is 5.5.0.580  . Looks pretty ok - but unfortunately it shows neither up as an  audio device in the control panel (Win XP SP3) - nor does Skype recognize the headset. Maybe I'm overlooking something fundamental...? Any input would be appreciated. Thomas PS.: The headset works fine on my cellphone. And I can synchronize the cellphone with the laptop via Bluetooth, no problems there.Message Edited by ThBa on 03-15-2009 05:43 PM

Answer:Problem with T500, Bluetooth Headset, and Skype

AFAIK most of the bluethooth headsets for mobile phones don't work with a normal pc (nokia has one which works for both). Try to google a little, you find lots of problems about this!

Hello, I've read several posts about this, but none of them solved my problem. I have a T500 2055-RH2, with windows 7 64bits. I just bought a bluetooth mouse online and imagine how I feel after 3 hours of useless debugging to install a mouse. Actually, my problem is more basic, I just can't seem to have bluetooth working. I tried to install: Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7, Vista - ThinkPad  When I do install this, it eventually says I have no bluetooth device, so somehow my bluetooth adapter is NOT enabled. I then tried to do Fn-F5 to enable it, but it's no use, because I can only see my WIFI in there, no trace of bluetooth... From the forum, I tried to install: ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows 7 I think it was already installed, but I installed it anyway, still no change, nothing in Fn-F5, still nothing. I then even installed a WIDCOMM (broadcom) driver, but then again, it says it can't find any bluetooth device. Are there any depencies I don't know about? Should I reinstall anything? What the HELL is wrong?! How hard is it supposed to be to install such a basic function as bluetooth??! Should I throw that laptop out the window? Because I really want to... (arg!)  Help please...! Thanks...

I've been looking at the threads over in the R Thinkpads & SL Thinkpads forums for solutions to do with Nokia's & Activesync with TP BT as I have some users with Nokias. What I wasn't expecting was to run into the same problems with my Treo 750 on WinMobile v6 - it connects just fine on USB cable, syncs all my stuff but simply will not talk to the Treo on BT. I nuked the Treo & rebuilt - same result. I removed BT Enhanced II software, deleted the BT device from Network in Device Manager, tried to use the MS BT drivers (failed) tried to run an Update Drivers by Scanning for new devices then pointing it to the folder with the w32 drivers, edited the Bth.inf file with the id's from the BT in device manager... One thing I noticed was the on reinstall of the BT software, the BT device manager entry moved from Network Adapters into a Bluetooth Devices folder in Device Manager. And now, instead of just the BT adapter showing, I have Bluetooth Bus Enumerator AND Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate II Any ideas on how to get this working? Seeing as I am getting the same result with a Palm device as the Nokia, I am thinking this is an incompatability between Activesync & Widcomm BT stack rather than anything phone related. Any suggestions for a way to connect phones for Outlook sync without using Activesync? The BT works - when I first connected I got a phone call & was able to use the computer mic & headphones to carry out the ca... Read more

Answer:Intel Turbo Memory on T500

If you are using the default installation your Turbo Memory should already be in use. You can turn it off or change what it is used for in the utility you should find in the Programs menu (as I am not typing this on my T500 I am not sure under what name it is, should be something like Intel Turbo Memory). But you probably don't need to change any of the settings. By default it should be set to use both ReadyDrive and ReadyBoost. I have it left on this setting. Many people argue if it has any use at all - I think it does become useful to speed up things.

Greetings!  I've been banging my head against this for awhile now.  My company had a customized T500 last year with a Lenovo wireless card in it, and now we've switched to an off-the-shelf model with the Intel card.  Suddenly, we cannot print consistently to Bluetooth printers. I say "consistently" because it *will* print, but only 1 job.  Then you have to power off/on the printer to print another job, rinse and repeat.  The only thing that seems to stand out as the culprit is when I go to Enable the Bluetooth Printer Service, it tells me "Unable to start the Bluetooth printer service.  Verify the local printer is physically connected to this computer by a USB or parellel cable, is set as the default print, and is turned on." This same printer (HP Officejet 470) will work just fine on our older T500's, along with other even older T42 models.  Also, the printer works great when on a USB cable -- it's just the Bluetooth that gives us problems.  All the other Bluetooth services appear to be enabled OK -- it's the Printer Service that has an error. One thing:  the Bluetooth printing works fine in the factory Windows Vista installation.  But we run a customized Windows XP sp2 load.  However, I've tried updating all the drivers I can think of and installing the full HP software suite, all to no avail.  And I evidently appear to be the only person this has ever happened to, because there is nothing via Google... Hi everyone, I am a new T500 2081 user.  I did a Windows 7 pro x64 clean install and was able to install all the ThinkVantage software including the hotkey driver, so I can use Fn+F5 to activate the Bluetooth.  The problem is everytime I restart my T500 the Bluetooth is off by default.  I have to press Fn+F5 to activate it again and again.  I am getting a Thinkpad Bluetooth laser mouse and it will be a pain if I have to activate my mouse every time the computer is restarted. When I boot my computer in Ubuntu 9.10 on another partition of the hard drive the Bluetooth is always on, so I guess the issue in Windows 7 is a software setting one.  Any idea how to fix it?  Thank you!!!

Two things. 1. Make sure you completely power off and on again after enabling virtualization2. Are you running any other sort of virtualization software, such as VMware?  If so, that may take control as only one app can be vt enabled at a time.

hello, i tried to enable intel vt in my T500 2056-WK6 thinkpad in bios (already updated to the latest one) but it is greyed out and so i cannot enable it.the cpu (T9400) would support intel vt though. did anyone had the same problem or is there a workaround for this problem? thanks!

Answer:T500 2056-WK6 - cannot enable Intel VT in BIOS

I wish I had a fix for you, but I can confirm that the T9400 includes VT technology. http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=35562 The fact that you can't enable it may indicate a bug in the bios. I would recommend contacting support to confirm there isn't something else in your laptop preventing VT.

Hello, I reinstalled the NVidia Quadro 2000M driver, which also reinstalled Intel HD graphics.  I did this because I was having problems opening up Photoshop 5 - not sure if I needed to do that, because the problem remained afterwards, but then magically, it works every time now.  So something fixed itself. Anyway, after it reinstalled Intel HD Graphics, the Intel Control Center button, which opens Intel HD Graphics options does not work.  I realize that the Intel Control Center is just a simple front-end with a couple of buttons, but how can I get it to work again?... I cannot find the install program.  Also, as an alternative, where is the executable to get to the Intel HD Graphics - and what is its name? Thanks!

Intel Core i3-2330M + Intel HD Graphics 3000 = Black Screen
Hi,

first of all, my words of deep and sincere appreciation and thanks for this website. I use it, though only sporadically, for many, many years and always got very professional and useful help here!

Today I am inquiring about a problem that seems to be quite common and wide-spread, based on my own Internet searches: the bad combination of the Intel Core i3-2330M processor and the Intel HD Graphics 3000. During normal operations, my system works with that. But when using render software (POV-Ray) or attempting to play games, then I am getting that famous Black Screen. The laptop still continues to work, but I cannot see anything anymore. Only a restart helps, unfortunately. My online search did not reveal any solution, and having downloaded the "Intel Driver Update Utility", nothing new can be downloaded it seems.

I am speaking out here today about my problem with the hope, that someone here know a functioning solution. I need my system in order to create renders, that is my work. I just recently upgraded my system with that better processor, and it kills me now.

Edit: I fixed it! (I was causing the problem myself but uninstalling the chip in the first place when i should have been disabling it instead)

Ok... I looked for about an hour and decided i would have to make a new thread for my specific problem... so sorry if im making my first post in an odd place

I recently installed a NVIDIA GeForce 5500 FX PCI 256MB DDR video card
followed directions as best i could, and disabled the Intel integrated graphics... but my PC insists on REinstalling the intel integrated graphics controller upon restart... It left me alone for awhile and i could run Counter Strike : Condition Zero moderately well (low frames after playing for over an hour) but after allowing my computer to update itself (while using IE to dowload firefox for a reinstall, IE randomly decided my home page was going to be the microsoft site for the day) and since then no matter what i do the computer insists on trying to reinstall the intel integrated graphics thing...

so my question is, how do I make this stop? how do i keep the computer from giving me the dreaded "found new hardware" bubble when im using a FAR superior (REAL) video card already?

is there something i do in the BIOS (i hope not, i dont like messing around in there) or on the motherboard itself?

i have some basic info about my comp in my signature but im going to use "PolSystemInfo" to find all my PC specs and just copy paste them below, I just hope its enough info to help so... Read more

Answer:NVIDIA GeForce 5500 FX-vs-Intel Integrated Graphics... please make intel go away!

Hmm that didn't happen to me when I put mines in. Did you install the NVIDIA drivers? Try disabling the onboard in the device manager. That?s what I did. There doesn?t seem to be an option to turn it off in the bios (my bios) maybe there is for you however. It isn?t too complicated. Just simply look for onboard graphics or integrated graphics controller or w/e and select disable, but first try disabling it in the device manager. It should be listed under display adapters -> properties -> disable this device.

You should upgrade to DX9.0c...

I have IdeaPad Z480 with Windows 7 installed. I had installed all latest drivers from lenovo site. Then I updated Intel Graphics HD driver to latest version: v15.28.12.64.2932 (9.17.10.2932) from Intel site and then I got problems: the brightness always revert to last brightness level (before updating Intel Graphics driver) when booting. Also, the brightness slider in Control Panel -> Power Options doesn't work anymore. Reinstall Energy Management driver doesn't solve the problem. I suspect there is incompatibility issue in Lenovo Energy Management driver with the new Intel Graphics HD driver.

Hello, I own a Sattelite A100-237 notebook and I have an annoying problem for quite a while now. The two USB ports in the side as well as the Bluetooth device do not work. As far as the bluetooth device is concerned it is just not recognised by the system, as if it wasn't there (that's what the driver installation says too) while any device I connect to the side USB ports doesn't work either.
The other two USB ports in the back work just fine.

Hello

Maybe are this two ports really defective and there is no much to say. Either you will get your notebook to repair or you must live with this and use other two USB. Sorry but I see your posting just as a short report and not as some ask for help.

Hi...I'm running Win7 Home Premium (64-bit), 8Gb RAM, with the chip:
Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology

Graphics is not dedicated and is handled via this Intel chip.
During Windows Updates, MS ones download perfectly.

However, I also get an additional 'optional' update named: 'Intel Corporation - Display - Intel(R) HD Graphics'

This has never succeeded in downloading.
The MS explanation is always the same: possible interruption from my connection to their server...yet never any interruption when I download MS updates at exactly the same time!

After that, I get the usual 'download Mr Fix It' software which proves itself to be utterly useless in helping me find why the download is not succeeding.

I run Avast anti-virus and Zone Alarm firewall...but I can't figure out if they are somehow preventing the download.

I'd appreciate any help on this....

Many thanks

My computer runs Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600. Because of this, I want to replace it with the new Intel HD Graphics 15.40.18.4380 from Intel. The problem is that my system won't recognize it. What do I do?

Hi,
I have Dell E7470 and I'm considering a motherboard replacement. The board has i7 CPU with Dell Part # VNKRJ . I wanted to ask If the new board with i7 CPU 6050 and Intel Iris graphics 540 (Dell part # YDW8F) will fit on my laptop ?

In addition, If I purchased an i5 board (Dell part # 3GMP2) , will I be able to replace the CPU with the one that I currently have on the old motherboard and get an i7 board ? I'm asking because the i5 board is cheaper than the i7 board.

Thank you

Answer:Dell E7470 - is it possible to get the new Intel 6050 CPU with Intel Iris graphics ?

While the boards should interchange, bear in mind:
Whatever board you buy has a CPU soldered to it - the CPUs cannot be replaced separately from the mainboard;  they are not removeable.
If the system is in warranty, replacing the mainboard voids the warranty.

I have an A3 lappy. The display driver is dated 2005 which is an Intel 915g obtained from the toshiba download site.

There have been numerous updates to the 915 driver from the Intel site but no update from the toshiba site.
Can I use the Intel drivers file to update my A3?

Answer:Tecra A3: Can I install Intel graphics driver from Intel website?

Hi,

the drivers from Intel are not for notebooks.
So they normally don't work or in the worst case can damage the chip.

But you can try it on your own risk.
You can also look at newer notebook models which use the same (updated) driver. Sometimes this works.

Or search the internet if somebody provides a modified driver for notebooks.

I got my HP Notebook - 15-r111nia late last year and want to update the graphic card driver as it is very old (10.18.10.3958) since 2013, to a newer version. I tried using the Intel Driver Update Utility to automatically update it to the newer version but it saying a customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on my computer and so the download button is greyed out. I tried updating the graphics driver manually but it failed to install successfully after downlaoding on several attempts. I am soo fraustrated  now as most of my games are crashing and every recommendations i get from people is to update my graphic card. I would really appreciate anyone kind enough to help me with a link on the right graphic driver update and a work around concerning this issue.  Thanks in advance.

Hi,For quite some time now I've been having problems with Bluetooth (BT) devices on my T500 Win7 64 bit with devicesranging from like my older Nokia C2-01 mobile phone to my new UE ROLL 360 wireless speakers. at this stage the BTicon appeared correctly upon startup and in the device manager there where no errors, whereas the BT devices wereidentified as:a. Thinkpad bluetooth with Enhanced Date Rate IIb. Microsoft Bluetooth data EnumeratorSo from googling I figured all those BT problems might be caused by improper driver installations of BT relateddevices, which led to the use of the Microsoft enumerator instead of the actual needed devices. So I uninstalled it specifically, and was left with an unknown device, with the detail value of:BTH\MS_BTHBRBFrom here on everything only got worse :-(I've reckoned that in order to fix this I should just downloaded the latest official Lenovo driver from:http://support.lenovo.com/il/en/downloads/ds013631 (Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II released21/2/2014).After installation (and required reboot), I was now stuck with an unknown device, with the following 2 details valuestrings:USB\VID_0A5c&PID_2145&REV_0352USB\VID_0A5c&PID_2145From googling this I've realized it's related to the Broadcom Bluetooth driver. So I've downloaded the latest official Broadcom Bluetooth driver from:https://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth (WIDCOMM« Bluetooth Windows« Software for Windows 7 and Vista, 64-Bitreleased 04/08/2016).After thi... I finally found the solution to my problem today, and I'm posting this information in hopes that someone can verify in their environment what I found in mine.  Also in hopes that it will save someone else the weeks of effort it took me to resolve. To recap, my problem was that I was unable to stream audio or video either from my LAN or from the internet without losing connectivity frequently or permanently.  This problem began when several months ago I updated my laptop to Win 7 Professional from Vista Business.  I didn't experience the problem under Vista.  Today I determined the problem was that I am running mixed mode on my LAN which apparently is not supported by the Win 7 driver for the Intel 5300.  My router is the D-Link DIR-655 which is an 802.11n router capable of being configured for mixed mode support.  I am running it configured for n and g support since my wife's laptop only supports g.  I booted up my laptop today and began an audio stream from my server and to my surprise it worked beautifully, just like it should.  I listened for a while and suddenly the music began skipping.  I noticed that my wife had just booted her laptop about the same time the skips began.  On a long shot I went into the advanced configuration of the 5300 and disabled 802.11n support forcing it to disconnect and reconnect at 54Mbps.  That action restored my audio stream immediately, and I proceded to test by exercising seve... The DIR-655 only operates in the 2.4GHz WiFi band (you can see that in the product manual - Frequency Range 2.4GHz to 2.483GHz) and is not fully  802.11n Draft 2 compliant, and so will not achieve 802.11n speed with the Intel WiFi cards which are fully 802.11n Draft 2 compliant.
In 802.11n Draft 2, based on field experience, the IEEE 802.11n Working Group specified that bonded channel operation should only take place in the 5GHz WiFi band and 802,11n operation in the 2.4GHz band created too many other issues for 802.11b/g operation in that band.  This is also reflected in the recently ratified/published 802.11n specification.
So the problem IS your router, not the Intel cards, or Windows 7 drivers.

Cheers,

I just recently purchased a T500 as a replacement for my existing T60p.  The new one came with an Intel 5300 AGN card and Vista Business 64.  I've been slogging through the process of downloading and installing all the ancillary stuff (printer drivers, etc) and found out last night that what I thought was a network problem in performance is really a T500 wifi problem. Downloading stuff from intel over WiFi - 4.1kbsDownloading stuff from intel over Ethernet - 500+kbs. I thought perhaps this was an issue with my wifi, but on my T60 -  downloading stuff from intel over WiFi - 600+kbs. So its not the wifi. So its something with the T500 and possibly the 5300 card.  I note that this version shipped with some fairly strange WiFi configuration - Intel WiFi STA as the offered wifi interface with the 5300 well hidden.  I'm tempted to try and uninstall the WiFi STA and see if that improves things. I've also tried updating the WiFi to the newest intel drivers without luck (drivers updated, but didn't improve performance).  I've played with power settings and various other twiddles - also without luck. Anyone have any ideas? I may see if I have an old AR wifi card and replace the 5300 with it... Mike

Answer:T500 WiFi Performance Issues (Intel 5300) - help!

After trying a few more things including removing the Intel My WIFI drivers, I decided to try swapping out the 5300 with an older AR based ABGN mini PCI card.  So I pulled off the palm rest and key board and pulled the various connections and screwdowns needed to remove the card.  Unfortunately, the AR card is double sided - it wouldn't lay flat in the slot.  So I replaced the 5300, screwed everything down, reconnected the antennas, replace the keyboard and palm rest and replaced the battery.  I powered it up and low and behold - I'm now getting the speeds I was expecting.  E.g. north of 1Mbs.  The only thing I can figure is either the antennas were misconnected or just not seated properly. I recommend reseating the antennas for anyone else who has this problem - probably before trying pretty much any of the other things suggested in this forum - power, twiddlles, etc. Mike

I purchased my T500 within the first week Lenovo had it available for US consumers to order.  I was assured the machine was going to come with a WiMax card.  I gave it to my daughter to use.  We never tested WiMax since we did not have WiMax in our city until October of last year.  Came to find out, our machine did not come with a WiMax card as was promissed.  It has in it the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN card instead.  Needless to say, I no longer feel comfortable ordering from Lenovo anymore.  We got seven laptops in the house.  Five of which are ThinkPads.  However, we've moved over to Samsung after this unpleasant experience. Today I wanted to see if there's an updated version of the driver I'm running for my WiFi card, to my unpleasant surprise, the driver for the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN card in my T500 does not exist anywhere at www.lenovo.com.  I only see drivers for the Intel 5150 and the Intel 5350 cards. Does anybody out there have any idea where I can find the latest driver for the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN in my duped T500 laptop?  Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi all, Sorry to make my first post a question, just got a really tricky question and navigating the lenovo website doesn't easily provide me with a support email/field.   I have used this laptop without fault for approx. 2 years, but it no longer boots. When the power on button is pressed, no lights other than bluetooth led is active. There is also a green led active by the side of the optical drive (near the rear USB port). The sound of the hard drive being active (spinning) can be heard, as well as occasional access. The screen only shows the IBM logo briefly (bottom left, approx 3cm/30mm high font) and then becomes blank. When plugged into an external monitor, there is no picture. Attempts to access the BIOS (via the F1 key at boot-up) are unsuccessful as the screen is too dim to view. I look forward to any suggestions. It's pretty annoying if I can't repair/diagnose my own laptop when I work in an IT department! Cheers,Chris

Hi, i recently bought this game, perhaps ill advisedly. My laptop seemed smack between the minimum and recommended requirements so i went ahead and got it. Unfortunately upon installation there have been two issues: one, the config panel program for this game comes up blank, there are no options. This is obviously a fault.
Second is apparently my graphics controller is incompatable.
Needed is a 'NVIDIA GeForce series or ATI RADEON 9000 series graphics card with 32 meg of VRAM (AGP)'
Now you'll have picked up im an amateur, but my laptop graphics controller is a Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller. It has worked on any other game ive played so ive had no reason to think it wouldnt for this. I just assumed it would work.
So, does this game require something my machine cant provide? or is there a driver/program/facility/upgrade that can aid me in running it? Cheers.
Oh, and has anyone else had the config blank problem.

Is Intel HD Graphics Family better than Intel G41 express chipset?

The name is only Intel HD Graphics Family there isnt a number after it in dxdiag

Answer:Is Intel HD Graphics Family better than Intel G41 express chipset?

Intel G41 express is the very old, Core 2 equivalent on-motherboard-gpu aka Eaglelake. It only supports up to dx10, it has awful and old drivers, and incomplete opengl support (less apps can run on it). It can idle in recent games like Dota 2 with up to 30fps with everything on low. Key word: idle. Don't even think about playing under more than 15-20fps.

Intel HD Graphics Family is on-cpu-die-gpu aka Sandy Bridge, it's still old now, but does have support for dx11 and opengl, and it has a lot more raw power than x4500(g41), depending on the cpu. It even supports overclocking with sizeable improvements.

Really there is no contest between the two families.

hi all,

I'm really hoping someone can read this post and help a little bit.  Let me start with this, at this point, I know I'm screwed so I'm just looking for some help on why this might have happened.  A little background, my T500 has been flawless, and I love it too death.  I work with hundreds of people that swear by Mac's and I say how much I love my Lenovo everyday.  But regardless, I don't think it's a Lenovo issue.

So I have a T500 with 8GB memory, Kingston SSD, Windows 7 64bit.  Symantec antivirus updated, Windows defender malware tools.  No viruses anywhere.

Everything's been great till about a week ago.  At that time, several windows updates and updates from Lenovo's site were installed.  Including a windows update that's supposed to help the boot up speed of computers with and eSata port that's not in use.

Anyway, everything has been pretty good except two things.  I kept getting an error every boot up that the bluetooth stack service couldn't start.  Second, every time the computer would wake up from hibernation, I would get a blue screen on the device driver ianvstor.sys.

So today I decided to fix these issues... Huge mistake!!!

I started by fixing the ianvstor.sys issue.  Posts all over the web say to update the Intel Turbo Memory drivers.  So I downloaded the latest one from the Lenovo site and installed it.  This went fine.  I postponed the reboot an... Read more

Answer:T500: boot up error, bluetooth stack service, hibernation- Seriously searching for help.

Stop booting the drive immediately, and run a disk recovery program on it.The closest thing I could think of is that the Uninstaller went haywire and started deleting files beyond it's target scope. (I know this first hand; I wrote an installer/uninstaller myself in VB6 that did the exact thing to my drive. Fortunately, I was dual-booting and recovered all of my files using the other partition.)I think it stopped booting because a few key driver files were wiped out. After trying to recover your files, try an offline SFC pass like so:http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/run-sfc-offline-windows-7-vista/Not sure if it'll pick up on missing files, but it will replace modified files.Chances are, a fair bit of files were wiped.

Hello! I'm having the problem that when the display powers off, my network connection drops, and then reconnects again at 10mps (when the screen is still powered off) When the screen gets powered on again (e.g. by using the mouse), the networkcard disconnects again and reconnects at 100mbps. This seems to be some sort of power-saving function, but its rather annoying and seems useless. Is there a way to disable this? Thanks for your help Dieter

Hello, I have a Lenovo T500, which came preinstalled with Windows Vista Business. All the hardware components were working perfectly. I took advantage of the Windows 8 upgrade offer from Microsoft and performed an installation. Windows 8 automatically installed most drivers by itself, but there are three entries in the device manager that are not working:  The hardware IDs for the devices that are missing are as follows: First Base System Device:PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_20CA17AA&REV_11PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_20CA17AAPCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_088000PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_0880Second Base System Device:PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_20C917AA&REV_11PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_20C917AAPCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&CC_088000PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&CC_0880PCI Simple Communications Controller:PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&SUBSYS_20E617AA&REV_07PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&SUBSYS_20E617AAPCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&CC_078000PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&CC_0780http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-70443 only has support up to Windows 7. Please let me know how to identify what these devices are and also, where do I find drivers? Thank you.

So I got a T500 a while back, but opted for the somewhat crappy Intel WIFI 5100. It works ok, but I have a MIMO router and I feel like there is much to be gained from having 3Tx and 3Rx instead of the current 1Tx and 2Rx. Transmission speed is only so useful to me, but quality connection (low ping, less losses) for VoIP and Team Fortress 2 really does matter (thank god for the 3650, that game runs great). I took a few minutes yesterday to open the computer and check that I have all 3 antennas built into the computer. Thankfully, I do! The white antenna is just sitting unused! So that's the first good news for you guys out there. It seems that Lenovo built 3 antennas in at least some of the T500s with the 5100. Mine is a CTO from May 09. In any case, now I'm facing the choice of going for an "old generation" 5350 with 3x3 and WiMAX or, and that's the big question, one of the newer Intel N cards, such as the 6250 and 6300. But since they're part of the next Centrino architecture, I'm not sure it would run with the Montevina platform that I have... Anybody has any experience setting up one of these new cards on a Montevina platform, is it possible?

Answer:T500 Montevina, 3 antennas, can I upgrade to Intel WIFI 6250/6300?

You need to stick with the cards for the generation of your system. So for 3x3 it's the 5300 or 5350 (wimax). The newer cards will not be recognized by your ThinkPad. No worries though, the newer cards will not get you faster n speeds anyway.

I upgraded my T500 to Windows 7 Professional from Vista Business.  Since upgrading, I have been unable to obtain satisfactory WiFi connectivity.  Symptoms are that I cannot stream from either the internet or my local server without experiencing periodic interruptions and/or total drops.  I've tried reinstalling the driver, replacing the WiFi card itself, and adjusting the parameters associated with the adapter card.  Nothing seems to help.  I also own a T61 laptop which I also upgraded from Vista Business to Windows 7 Professional, and I have had no problems with WiFi connectivity on that machine.  It also has an Intel Wifi adapter but a different model.  Both laptops connect to my LAN and the internet through the same D-Link wireless access router. I'm beginning to suspect that the Windows 7 driver for this particular WiFi adapter is flawed.  Has anyone in this forum had a similar experience? Thanks in advance for your comments/assistance.

I just purchased a new T500 notebook (Type 2242-34U) and am interested in setting up a home network.  I have broadband cable hooked up to my Dell PC (Time Warner/Roadrunner).  My T500 comes with Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN).  Any advice and/or recommendations with regards to the model/type of router is greatly appreciated.  Thanks a bunch. OO

Hello, I have searched the forums to see if there is a similar problem like the one I am having, but, did not come across. I bought my T500 in 2009 with XP installed. I have recently installed Windows 8.1 and started to experience problems with my Intel Wifi 5350. Upon restart, the driver is unable to connect to my home wifi. In order to connect, I need to go through trouble shooting and reset the wifi link, which, then, fixes the problem. When I first installed Windows 8.1, I did not have this problem. It seemed to have happened after a few auto updates. The driver software I have is 13.3.0.137 with a date of 8/15/2010. Driver provider is Microsoft.  I downloaded but not yet installed Intel« PROSet/Wireless Software for Windows 8.1 Wireless_17.1.0_De164.exe. I am not sure if this will fix it. I wanted to ask this first before I do something. If you have had this before or know the answer, could you please post specific links to which drivers I should install manually? Thanks! I appreciate if you could be specific in your responses as I am not super tech savvy.
