ericsson mobile broadband minicard problem

Question: ericsson mobile broadband minicard problem

HiAfter upgrading the system the computer does not recognize the WWAN nor the GPS.I've tried to uninstall the the Ericsson wireless module core and download and re-install the latest version of the driver (v1.0.1046.226 ), but the WWAN does not apear in the wireless radio switches (I have only the 802.11 wireless radio switch and the bluetooth switch)the thinkvatage mobile broadband connect gives an error message "mobile broadband device not found" and so does the thinkvantage GPS utility. Also, I can not find the Ericsson F3507g through the device manager (not in modems and not in network adaptors).I'm almost sure it is not a hardware problem, since it worked fine before.Any ideas?Gilproduct: 7417TNUOS: XP PROAccess connections version 5.33

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: ericsson mobile broadband minicard problem

Hi, I had similar problem with driver: 7uwc46ww. For me it (mostly) went away with driver: 7uv706ww. Please note than I am running Win 7 so the exact driver may not be relevant but the behavior was the one you described so it is probably driver related. The problem seems to be that the card is switched off and then you can not get it on again. Two workarounds that I applied to the earlier driver which you may want to try out.1) Install Ericssons wireless manager which works OK for the built in card even if it is intended for non-built in cards2) Treat the WWAN card as a modem and switch it on with an AT-modem string. I have noticed this problem on 2 X301 Systems. One running XP (SP3') one running Vista (SP2). On both machines the Vodafone Dashboard was used to connect to WAN. At first it worked but afer a while a message saying": "Mobile connection not possible. Ensure that no other programs are using your selected device, and try again in a short while", when trying to connect. On one machine running vista, i could bypass this problem by using the sony ericsonwireless manager. On the XP machine it couldn't find the card (the ericsonwireless manager). The WAN Module is active. Under Modems i can see the F3507g device, which is working normally. Also under Ports I can see 2 COM Ports dedicated to the module (Device Management and GPS Port). Its interesting that i can connect to WAN using the RAS/Dial-up connection. Ipconfig /all shows an external IP and I can surf the net.Are there any known Issues with the Vodafone Dashboard ( I am using latest one Dashboard Version 9.4.3.16284).A driver reinstall didn't help.

Answer:X301 & Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband Minicard Modem

You can just dump the "dashboard" and connect using Dial Up Networking, those broadband "connection managers" are really QoS managers and can dynamically quash your throughput based on settings updated on connection and broader network policies. Cellular providers drop calls and WWAN connections duirng periods of congestion and WWAN cards suck up more bandwidth than multiple voice users and their QoS habits are illogical most of the time. You should already have an entry for your ISP within DUN and you can google for sites with the specific settings to recreate / experiment with your settings, one particular site is: http://www.mgmcc.myby.co.uk/GPRS_phone_settings_B.htm     (no affiliation)

I've upgraded to seven, and it's fine : everything works (faster), BUT : no mobile broadband connection, no GPS, and no bluetooth either.I've upgraded all drivers possible from Lenovo support, nothing seems to work. I've read other posts on this subject, but many solutions involved some drivers already installed on my system. The adapter worked fine with Vista. I find this very annoying and would be thankful for any help.

Hello forum! Just got a company provided X61s 7667-34G. When I upgraded the memory I found a SIM-card holder under the lid where the memory is supposed to be. How do I figure out if it has one, and if not, can I mount one? FRU no? Another question while I am at it. The laptop got a Intel 4965AGN but it says "Intel 802.11agn(n-disabled)" in the description, is there any way to unlock it?

Anyone else using one of these internal minicards; they seem to be getting more popular?

My problem: previous (T-Mobile/UK) PCMCIA card & SIM came with associated software and 'Speedmanager' that allowed one to select no compression for perfect web pages/images. T-Mobile SIM via Dell minicard gives better connection, but unfortunately no control over the fairly obvious compression.

Previous T-Mobile Communications Center v2.7 software that worked perfectly had to be ditched for v2.10 (Vista) when I moved to a new laptop with that OS. In a somewhat bizarre backward step this comes without 'Speedmanager' (?). There is other laptop specific (e.g. Sony) software from T-Mobile, like the Web'n'Walk Manager v3.1 out today, but nothing for Dell.

So back to the Dell card and software; there is no facility to adjust compression in the latter and endless searching brings up no solutions, upgrades or whatever. I can get a perfect web page by pressing Ctl+F5 after each page download, but that's a bit of a fiddle each time. But the fact that one can, means that perhaps a solution is not far away; maybe in the form of alternative software or some sort of intervention (config file, modem scripts etc?).

Anyway, if anyone has got any bright ideas I would be very grateful; thanks

Hi,This  is a problem i have been suffering from with many of my clients (around 190)They all have Lenovo X200 /X200S  with built in mobile broad band which has stopped to work recently due to the latest Vodafone and ATT wireless WAN (HSPA)  Driver. I conntacted the local agent no one has any idea contacted lenovo representative in Norway and they have no IDEA also !!All of them are experts in passing the problem to somone else !!!  All these systems has windows XP pro with all the latest updates available My company is about to launch it's software for W7 and i strongly doubt i can recommend the new X201 as our standard new platform if every now and then the same problem Happens . Before it was BIOS and we had to downgrade to v2,06. Then Wifi adapter where we had to install the driver from intel and  not the one from lenovo and after an access connection update we had to go back to the driver from LENOVO!!! So PLEASE lenovo could someone look at this support reuest and tell us what the heck is wrong with the latest update from you ?? and how to fix it ???   RegardsMaris Support Dept.

The Lenovo community is a peer to peer support forum, not an official Lenovo support channel.

You may get a partial answer here, but given the specific nature of your problem, which appears like it might be tied to some aspect of your local 3G service provision, you will really need local Lenovo resources involved.

Can someone confirm for me that ordering this will get me an Ericsson F3507G?  I have been told from our I.T. purchasing that it will be an Option card and he can get it cheaper and install himself.  I am trying to replicate a previously purchased unit  that is out in the field, for testing. Thanks

Answer:X200 Tablet with Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)

If you are configuring that in the online store, the "Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)  [add $80.00]" will be the F3507G, unless there has been a recent change. Amazing if your IT guy can go through the purchasing cycle, install, and test, for less than that.

I've just received my ThinkPad X230 (which is lovely!) and bought a SIM card from 3 to use with the Ericsson mobile broadband I specified with it. Lenovo Access Connections displays the 3 transmitter and tries to connect, but I haven't been able to get it to work at all. Any ideas? It starts by not being able to find the provider, but changing from 3 3G to 3 GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA/3G just results in a failed connection and the error log below. Any ideas? Hi dtowsey,

First things first, have you updated your systems drivers and BIOS? I see there is a newer version of BIOS which can be downloaded independently here:  BIOS Update Utility for Windows 7 but if you haven't already, run TVT System Update to ensure all drivers are up to date. Once we are certain the ThinkPad has all the latest updates we can cross that off the list of potential reasons for your inability to connect to the network.

I hope this at least starts you off on the right track!

Ed

Hello!  Recently I installed the latest updates for my computer through the System Update program. Unfortunally it seems like the updater doesn't manage to install all the updates, and that are the drivers for the "Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband Minicard PC SC Port". I open it in "device management" (dont't know the translation), and find there are no drivers installed. So is it also for the "Ericsson ... GPS Port/Device Management".  Because of this I can no longer connect to WiFi. I have visited lenovos driver pages, and downloaded the requested driver, including the others needed, and installed them manually. The problems is that Ericcson driver keeps "rolling back" during installation after having paused at 100% (the same happened through System Update). It resets the installation, only leaving the message that it was interrupted.  I have never had this problem before, and I don't see why I suddenly would be without WiFi drivers. However I'm stuck, can't find any previous driver versions to install (nor roll back to an older driver as there is none).  Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks Message Edited by tormhau on 06-18-2009 12:10 PM

Hello All: I can't get the GPS location feature working on my new W520 (4270-CTO).  The device did work once, the first day I had the computer (before running Microsoft Update and Lenovo Update), however, it has not worked since then. I've tried everything I can think of - removing and re-installing all the software, double-checking the BIOS, looking for device driver problems - but no luck.  When I launch the 'GPS Enabler' application, all I see is 'Satellite Acquisition in progress...".  I know the laptop can see the satellite constellation because I have a small hand-held GPS beside the laptop, and it has an excellent view of the satellites.  So does my Blackberry. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP 1 (what the computer shipped with).  I've installed the 83wo13ww driver package (nominally version 6.4.1.6, according to the readme file, but displayed as driver version 1.4.0.5 in the properties sheet of the driver when viewed via the Device Manager); the 83wa20ww Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation package ( version 4.0.0020); and the 83gp31ww ThinkVantage GPS package (version 2.72). I'm running Access Connections 5.84 (build 83c755ww), which I believe is the current release.  I have placed a SIM card in the slot in the back of the computer, and when I launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation, it shows all the appropriate information (IMEI, ICCID, etc.) for the SIM card... Just a postscript - I have found another discussion from about 18 months ago that mentions similar problems with a W500 and a T500.  One of the participants in that discussion suggested that improper assignment of COM ports might be the cause of the problem... but, if that is so, how does one go about re-assigning the two ports used by the GPS?  The picture I provided (link is above) shows that my W520 is using COM ports 10 and 11 for the GPS.  I have no idea at all how to change this port assignment. Here's the link to the prior discussion: W500 GPS Problem Regards, Michael

After many hours work trying to get this to work after upgrading from Vista, the latest drivers for the card (7uw706.exe) seemed to work okay with a vodafone signal being shown but I was unable to connect. Looking through many web forums, lots of people seem to be having similar problems with these cards in Lenovo machines. I finally discovered that the APN needs to be set for UK operation and now I can connect okay. However, it does not seem to be controllable with "Access Connections" (Blutooth and WiFi adaptors can be controlled okay here) which either shows card is "Disabled" or it is not possible to switch it on. Despite this, the WAN indicator on the front of the PC is always on unless I physically switch all radios off with the front hardware button. Even with this button OFF, a reboot results in the WAN module showing as ON again and it is necessary to physically switch all radios on and off again to extinguish this. Presumably this card is still powered when the indicator is lit which will affect battery life. I believe I am using the latest Access Connections Utility (6gc725ww.exe). Anybody else notice these problems (especially Lenovo Tech people).......?

Just over 2 months ago I purchased a 12 GB pay as you go deal with 3. For less than £100 it is a great deal. I only use the facility at work and over the 2 months it has become invaluable. However, I am now having problems and finding it impossible to get internet access for more than the odd few minutes. Having talked to a few other 3 users it would seem they are having the exact same problem, after 2 months of using the service without problem it comes to a sudden and almost total stop. One purchased their 12 gig deal in early Dec 2008 the other at the end of Dec 2008 and me in early 2009. In each situation after 2 months and a few days we have all started to encounter problems. The icing on the cake here is that the first of the above to purchase believed they had used their 12 gig credit and so topped up by £10 and got perfect access again for a few weeks ? I add here that they had not used up their allocation and that in fact they had only used 1.5 gigs.Has anyone else heard of this problem? If it is 3 limiting people after a few months that is outrageous and surely must be illegal? If not it is certainly immoral and should be given a nationally huge publicity push. As I said this facility had become invaluable to me and I now feel like I have lost one of my arms now at work.

I have a new X260 with Windows 7 Pro installed. When I try to utilize the Mobile Broadband option, the Lenovo Broadband Activation software tells me that it cannot read the SIM card.  I go to the Verizon Wireless and they test the SIM card and tell me it is activated and working fine. So, at this point, no Mobile Broadband - which is half the reason I bought this particular laptop model. I have updated to the latest driver for the Sierra Wireless EM7455 card which is installed in the X260. Has anyone run into a similar problem? Thank you.

Answer:Mobile Broadband Problem

you dont really need to run the Lenovo Broadband Activation tool thats only for special SIM card you can get off lenovo that can then be activated on some carriers so all you gota do is insert your sim card and use lenovo connection tool or w.e name is and from there you can connect to mobile broadband system and thats it you should be fine after that.

Hello All,

As we are all aware by now that we did not receive what we thought we were purchasing (GOBI) as far as mobile access is concerned (not to mention being told that the memory and SSD were upgradeable at time of purchase - before the month+ delays)...

Does anyone know EXACTLY what provider will work with the X1 Carbon's H5321gw PCIe card? I have read on various boards that AT&T is the only provider - but I find it hard to believe that Lenovo would limit this - given the current quality/service issues.

Any ideas? THANKS!

I have a W850i and Ive been using it for around 4 mths. What I'm wanting is to save my texts to the pc.

I've tried the software that came with the phone, no joy. A sim reader just reads the saved messages which appear to be the only ones on the sim and it'll only take 20 messages.

It cannot be impossible. If it's easier, how about simply saving my messages to the 1GB memory stick?

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I just bought an Ericson F5521gw WAN card from lenovo for my x121e 3045CTO and install it with the 6.5.1.5 driver.. When I press Fn+F5 I see a WWAN icon and it says it's activated ! In the Access connections tools (v. 5,97) / Internet connection tab, I can choose WiFi or "Other connections" but the "Mobile Broadband" button is grayed, When I try to create a new profile the Ericson card only appears as a modem and access connections ask for a number to call !There is no "Wireless WAN" choice in the "Type of network connections" menu In the Tools tab of Access connections, the "Mobile Broadband" icon is grayed. Maybe I made a mistake as I install the driver after the card. How can I make it work ? Thank you.

Reinstall Access Connections and make sure you have enabled [X] WWAN among supported connection options in a dialog during the setup.

I've got a problem with Sierra Wireless AirCard 880E ExpressCard modem and CheckPoint's SecureClient.

SecureClient can connect to my company's firewall via laptop's built-in wireless card. However, when I insert the AirCard and get connected to the Internet (I can browse), SecureClient can't get through. I can perform "update site" though. The diagnostics shows "Tunnel test failure (-122)".

I've spotted some difference in properties of wireless connection and broadband one. The wireless contains "Check Point SecuRemote" item listed in "This connection uses the following items", while mobile broadband does not (see attached images

).

So far this is the only direction I would explore. Any ideas?

Hi! stanl, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Using two or more nics with a single computer, or with multiple networks, creates problems. The network DHCP server recognizes each computer client by its MAC address (associated with the nic hardware) so when you change from one card to another, the network believes this is a different computer. The computer may still be trying to connect via the settings used by the first card, it doesn't distinguish between the two cards. The final result is mass confusion.

To sort it all out, you need the equivalent of different profiles for the different cards and or networks. You can try creating a new network connection using the AirCard, allowing the network DHCP server to create a new identity associated with the AirCard. You can try to manually create the settings for the second card to use when connected. For more ideas I would suggest you google "connecting to multiple networks".

Hope this gets you started!

I bought last week this Lenovo e330 (335493g).It worked fine for a week, but then mobile broadband stopped working. It showed in Network and Sharing center, disappeared for a while and show again. But didn't connect (same was in device manager, driver showed up for a while and then disappeared and showed again and so on).I did factory reset, after that device shows correctly in device manager and everything seems to me working, but I can't see it in Network and sharing center, nor connect anywhere with it..Lenovos Active Connections -app shows everything correctly, but again I can't connect. It says "Service provider not found", which is strange, since I have same provider on my mobile phone and it works just fine.. Any suggestions?

Hi All. I downlaoded and installed all drivers from lenovo homepage, but i have problem to connect to network via 3g (mobile sim card.)I have Lenovo ThinkPad X100e, 2876-27g, windows 7Pro. In network and sharing center i can see `Mobile Broadband Connection`, Unnamed Network - Device locked, Sim card is inserted and active!.When i press Connect, i can enter my sim Pin, after that, shows `unlocking` and then `Searching for signal...`Then error window, `The device can't find a signal`, after troubleshooting the problem, windows detects, that mobile broadband connection is turned off. I'm using hotkays to tur wireless devices on (Fn + F5)After first try, i cant see mobile broadband connection in network and sharing center menu.In network connections, Mobile Broadband Connection is Enabled.HW name shows Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Mobile Broadband Device 9205.I'm tried to reinstall device driiver, but no success.Any ideas? Regards,Liepinsh

Answer:X100e mobile broadband problem.

Have you verified if the card and the SIM card are compatible with your cellular carrier ?There are so many variables here, such as the frequencies, if the SIM is the correct memory size (since the oldest SIM's will fit in the newest incompatible phones and adapters, SIM incompatibilities are a frequently overlooked cause of problems). The one variable I'm loathe to suspect is your 3G Gobi card that has been successfully installed in Windows and seems to start as a recognized device in Windows even it doesn't connect to the WWAN.

Hi all,I have problems with a mobile broadband card inside the T400s of a workmate. He came to me because his card does not connect anymore. I checked the device manager for the card but it is not listed there anymore. After running the Lenovo System Update Tool I reinstalled the card drivers manually ... SystemUpdate didn't install any WWAN drivers. But the card is still not listed in the device manager nor is the AccessConnectionsManager aware of any mobile broadband function.Afterwards I checked the BIOS but there it is enabled ... I don't have any more ideas for solving this problem.Operating System is Windows7.Anyone had this problems before or has any suggestions?

Hello,My friend is really no good with laptops and i also know very little but she really wanted the internet at her flat. After looking into many options we decided the most cost effective option for her was to have mobile broadband and it seemed Vodafone offered the best deal. I managed to get her a second hand laptop which is old but in perfect working order and runs on Windows XP. The dongle arrived and i thought it would be a straight forward process, unfortunately this has definitely not been the case. On plugging the dongle in it just connects for exactly 10 to 11 seconds and then disconnects and repeats this process.I have now been on the phone to Vodafone on 5 occasions for up to 1hr 20mins at a time and they have been extremely unhelpful and i am losing hope. One technician managed to get it to connect by changing the com ports (i think that's what they were called) but on restarting it went back to normal doing exactly the same thing. The signal says very good so i don't think that is the problem either. I began to wonder if it was the laptop so we managed to loan her brothers new laptop which runs on Vista, however it does exactly the same on this one!Has anyone had any similar problems or any suggestions as to what it may be? I appreciate anyone's thoughts on this!

Answer:Problem with Vodafone Mobile Broadband

Go into Control Panel and check within Power Options - set all options to never (these settings can be changed again later if necessary). This may or may not work, but worth a try.

Just got a brand new T530. Because it was installed with Windows 7, I restored the system from the accompanying Windows 8 recovery discs - no problem there. But there is one device that doesn't work, the one named "ericsson H5321 gw mobile broadband network adapter". I have tried to download the driver manually from here: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=h5321%20gw%20mobile%20broadband%20network%20adapter%20driver%... It installs without a problem, but afterwards, the system still claims there is no driver installed. I've tried the update functions in the device manager, both from local resources and internet resources, but it doesn't locate any drivers. What can I do to resolve the problem???

I signed up for Tmobile's mobile broadband. I originally got their 4G-capable Cellular modem and was somewhat pleased; however, I discovered I could get a 3G cell modem of my own from NewEgg for less than half the price so I returned the Tmobile cell modem when this one came in today.

Here's the problem: I thought that in locations where 4G is NOT available, the 3G and 4G would perform equally. For a reason I don't understand, that is not true. The service is grossly slower in the same locations.

Example (same location):
0.65 down, 0.56 up - with Tmobile cell modem
0.22 down, 0.20 up - Zoom cell modem

This kind of difference is similar is all three of the locations, miles apart, that I have tried so far.

Can anyone help me understand what is going on with this? This is my first personal experience with mobile broadband.

When using Ethernet or Wi-Fi I have no problem, but when using an HSDPA USB modem to connect to the internet via mobile broadband (dial-up) I have the following problem:

Windows Update can "check for updates" and lists pending updates without a problem, but will not download anything (starts downloading but stops at 0% with error 80200011). Internet works fine otherwise (e.g. Internet Explorer, email etc).

I am using NIS and have tried disabling this but it does not help. When booting in Selective Starup (no startup items, Microsoft services only), I can connect to the internet (dial-up manually or automatically via IE default connection and get local and internet access status), however I cannot locate any web sites (e.g. Google), so suspect there may be some issue with DNS or some other configuration setting for this connection.

Answer:Windows Update problem with mobile broadband

Hi -

Most likely it is NIS causing the problems as usual. Simply disabling Norton does no good because the boot and kernel mode drivers continue to run.

Remove NIS with the Norton Removal Tool. Download it to your desktop, right-click on the icon and select Run as Administrator. Upon completion, re-boot.

NRT - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Next, reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply (if hi-lighted) | Click OK

Norton or Symantec anti-virus is just fine. But not the firewall. In the interim, use AVG 8 for a/v protection -

Please let me know how you make out.

I may be banging a square peg into a round hole here, but I will readily admit I have no idea what I am doing. My Thinkpad T410i came with 'Integrated Wireless Wide Area Network upgradable' under the heading of 'Integrated Mobile Broadband'. It has a slot for a SIM card behind the battery. If I go into 'Control Panel/Network and Internet/Setup Mobile Broadband' then I get a message 'Please install 'Mobile Broadband Connect' application to proceed further'. Also, on the 'Access Connections' page, the Mobile Broadband radio button is greyed out. I have tried installing software to overcome this to no avail.I have a SIM card that works perfectly well in a UK O2 dongle. What am I doing wrong please? How do these things fit together? What do I need to install please? Thanks.

Answer:Problem setting up Mobile Broadband/WWAN

upgradeable means it has the antenna and sim slot ready. You may need the actual pci-e card modem to use it, which is an option when you buy in store or add-on later.

Dear colleagues
Please may I request advice.
I have installed a WWAN card into my laptop. Previously there was no WWAN card in the laptop.
The card is the Toshiba f3705g card, which is 3g. The card intalled perfectly, showing up in device manager etc
I also installed the Dell Mobile Broadband Manager software. I have inserted a sim card with data into the sim card slot.
However I did not get an internet connection.
So I checked the Dell Mobile Broadband Manager and it gives the message "The Mobile Broadband device is not communicating".
The software advises that when this message occurs, there is a problem as follows:
"This message occurs if there is a problem with the Mobile Broadband Module Core Service."
I followed the advice to shut down and restart but that did no good
It advised also to
Try to restart the Mobile Broadband Module Core Service by clicking the Control Panel Administrative Tools Services.
However, upon checking the "services" in the control panel, I find that there is no "mobile broadband core service" present - either disabled or running.
Please can anyone suggest a possible solution, as I am not knowledgeable about this kind of thing.
Thank you, Ian

Hi Everyone,

Hope all at MG are keeping well.

So, i downloaded Connnectify on my x64, Windows 7 Ultimate laptop. Thinking that i might be able to share my mobile broadband connections with my new Android phone (i found out later, that this isn't possible anyway).

I uninstalled Connectify when i realised it wouldn't do what i wanted and now my mobile broadband won't work. It's one of those huawei dongles that Vodafone provide.

I have had a variety of different error codes (not randomly, they changed when i have hunted down solutions to various problems), but still its not budging. Very frustrating as you can imagine.

I can't roll back the system to before i installed Connectify as the first time available is after i installed it (lesson learned, should have created a restore point).

Does anyway know how i might go about rectifying this? Will i have to reinstall windows do you think? if so, can anyone recommend a good program which will back up all my drivers and files before i wipe the whole thing (i did a clean install of Windows 7 last year, it was running Vista). It seem way overboard to have to all this just because i installed Connectify! So any help appreciated. Hopefully the detail is not too scant - i'm on my work computer so don't have the dongle and my lap top in front of me.

Many thanks,

Martin

PS: I created a new profile in Windows to see if that would work - but it didn't.

Hi allI have recently got a NC10 netbook and signed up for a 2 year broadband contract with T-Mobile.I can receive emails ok (my isp is virgin) but have been unable to reply or send a new email. I always get the following error message"An error occurred sending mail.:The mail server sent an incorrect greeting:aamtaout-winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from (149.254.48.73).The netbook sends emails perfectly when connected to my home network just not using the dongle.I have phoned T Mobile support but have still not got it sorted out. He suggested that I need to add an outgoing server smtp.t-email.co.uk and send it through that. However, when I go try to send an email this option does not appear in the drop down box of outgoing servers. I asked the support man what usewr name I should put when entering the t-mobile smtp settings and he said the same uysername as I use with Virgin???Has anyone any idea on this, surely everyone who has taken out one of these contracts has the same problem?? Cheers all

Answer:Mobile Broadband Email Sending problem

You will need to go to the "account" settings of your email software (e.g. Outlook Express, Windows Mail etc.) and change the SMTP server details. In Outlook Express to do this go to Tools, Accounts, then select your email account, click Properties, click on the Server tab and change the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) value. In fact, it's probably best to set up a second set of account details (just in the your email software) which is exactly the same as the first except for the different SMTP setting. That way, when you are out you can select to send from the T-mobile one and at home you can use the Virgin one.

Hi Everybody!!Finally I purchased the Lenovo w500 notebook and I'm really happy with this product.I have one question about using the Ericsson f3507g Broadband mini Card to connect to a 3G network outside United states. The notebook i have purchased came with the AT&T broadband.Of course I can´t use it because I'm outside united states. So, I would like to use it with my 3g internet connection.I've tried to set up the connection but I had no success.I can only connet throught GPRS/EDGE but not to the 3g network using my SIM card.I have read a lot of information over internet but it is not clear. As I told, I can connect to edge using Access Connection but not to 3g despite the signal strenght is very good.I also tried to set up a dial uo connection and connect directly without using access connection, but I had no success. The dial up connection try to connect but it is not possible. Can someone help me about this issue?I don't know what else to do!Thank you in advance!Marcelo

Answer:Ericsson f3507g Broadband mini Card on w500

Depending on your provider, you might have something that is 3g, but in your area doesn't support it. For example, when I'm on holiday in Finland, Finland has 3g providers, but where I'm located "at the cottage at the lake" I'm connected to a mast that only supports GPRS/edge. The area is not very populated, thus they haven't upgraded that mast yet, they start with dense populated area-masts and work their way down, or maybe they just decided that the traffic on this mast is enough for it to be updated etc. Here at home in Denmark, I have 3g connection because my everyday home is located in a populated area, and my local mast does in fact support 3g. Anyway, try searching for a coverage map from your provider, maybe your local mast isn't able to give you 3g connections at all.Message Edited by OrosAraba on 26-03-2009 09:07 AM

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? I have a Verizon Mobile Broadband USB760 Card which is connected to a Windows 7 Laptop. The mobile broadband device is shared with the local area connection on Internet Connection Sharing tab under properties of the mobile broadband device. The Ethernet cable is going to the WAN port of a Netgear WNR2000 wireless router. I have set the basic setting screen of the router webpage to the same ip addresses, dns servers, subnet masks, and gateway of the laptop. The ip address of the local area connection of the laptop is 169.254.25.143 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. These settings are automatically acquired from the TCP/IP version 4 protocol. The WAN IP address for the router is 169.254.25.144 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. The DNS server and the gateway setting of the router are both set to 169.254.25.143.

The problem that I am having is that a week ago it worked perfectly but now it does not work at all. I have not changed any settings on the router or the laptop. I have also checked to make sure the device was still shared with the local area connection. What I have noticed is that only www.google.com will load. Attempting to load another website will just say waiting for www.?.com. The ? is any websites that I attempt to load like live.com, xbox.com, yahoo.com, or facebook.com. Also, any webpage will load on the laptop which the mobile broadband device is connected to. So, I do not know if it is the Internet Connection Sharing service or the settings of the router.

Hi all, not sure if this is the right section for mobile midband but I'll give it a shot...

Yesterday my brother dropped out his acer laptop to me to be updated. The ethernet port on the side of it is broken so he cannot go online with it. I have a mobile dongle so I figured I could use that to update his machine which needs a bit of TLC.

First of all let me say I have installed and gone online with this dongle on many other windows7/vista/xp machines without a problem but when I plugged it into his computer the story was different...

The drivers and software install without a hitch but when I try to go online it will not connect. It says "please make sure the device is inserted and settings are correct" The dongle should just be (plug and play) I have tried every USB port in the laptop and every time its the same story.

Also at one stage it asked me for the AP string/password etc but again this made no difference. Then I saw an error code "711" from windows which is due to a stopped telephony service so I started it manually and still no joy.

I noticed a couple of services were stopped including security centre so I had to start them manually so not sure if something like this is stopping the dongle from working.

Sorry for the massive thread but wanted to give whole background incase anyone here has encountered something similar and knows a fix.

Thanks for reading.

Answer:Problem connecting mobile midband/broadband dongle to windows7 ultimate

Hi

My bros, laptop Win 7, has a software based on screen icon - shown on screen which is acessed via a hotkey combination, this icon displays a switch between the wired and wireless conx - from wired to wireless - his doesnt start do this automatically.

Alternatively:

Just a thought, have you tried disabling the laptops inbuilt network port?
Perhaps it may default to the only remaining connection, your dongle, but like I said for my brothers unit this doesnt happen..so may not work...?

You should be able to go to the device manager and just right click the network port and select disable. While you are there just verify that the dongles port if its usb or pcmia type are enabled.

Also ensure that wireless connections can be enabled.

btw I am not familiar with win 7 network protocols, so take this with a grain of slat as it were...

Good luck:wave

My cell phone provider (T-Mobile--USA) offers wireless broadband using a SIM card and either a laptop stick or mobile hotspot.  I would like to know whether it is possible to utilize the Ericsson F3507g mobile broadband card installed in my X200 notebook.  There is a SIM card provision, but when I insert the T-Mobile SIM card it gives an error message when I try to activate it with the Access Connections program.  Is there software I need to download to be able to use this?  Do I first need to "unlock" the mobile broadband card like I would need to unlock a cell phone that is locked with a competing carrier? The wireless hotspot I bought does not work well in the locations I need the wireless broadband so I would like to try the internal mobile broadband to see if there is improvement. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi all,I have issues getting mobile (3/4g) broadband to work with my new T470 Thinkpad. In Ubuntu, the Fibocom Adapter is only detected as a generic MBIM adapter, and although Network Manager (and it's applet) display my network provider, the connection is not established, and the system process mbim-proxy is hanging at 100% CPU. This issue has been reported here (but seems to remain unsolved ?) : https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg158286.html Did anyone get this to work?Best whishes and thanks for any hints!

It's the simplest way I could word the title. I was having some issues with my bluetooth device: Dell 370 Bluetooth Minicard, in my Alienware M17x. I had Bluesoleil and Widcomm drivers installed. I uninstalled both and went to the registry to delete traces of both Bluesoleil and Widcomm. Well, I also accidentally removed something under Bluetooth, without even thinking. Here's the problem now:

Instead of getting bluetooth devices, it fails to install driver software for my mini-card. Actually, it doesn't even recognize my device as Bluetooth. It shows up in Device Manager under "Other Devices" and in that tree is called "Unknown Device." I know that my device is probably screwed due to the registry edit, I'm just hoping the only way of fixing this ISN'T a complete reinstall of Windows 7.

Can anyone possibly help me with fixing this? If not I'll start the process of moving 400+GB of personal files.....

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago. When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately, that has not been appearing since the last few days. I checked my hardware and it appears that there still is a 'Smart Card' but with no information regardin it. I also checked the HP Support Assistant and HP Utility Center but they had nothing. I have tried removing the card and placing it back again. The computer emits the sound that recognizes new hardware but no installater comes up Searching forums, I tried downloading the HP Connection Manager, but it failed to install when an error message ' NO WWAN' came up I also downloaded and reinstalled the latest Mobile Broadband Drivers but nothing happened. In fact, I suspect that it maybe the new updated drivers that caused my T-mobile SIM card to be disabled. I have tried calling HP support but they cannot help and demand payment for 'advanced tech support' when my Laptop is still under Warranty. I tried calling T-mobile, but they said that it was a problem that I needed to contact HP for. I contacted Microsoft that said I need to get in touch with T-mobile. The second call on HP, they told me to contact T-mobile, One big circle. TL;DR: I need the installer for my T-mobile SIM Card, mobile broadband... Read more

EDIT: The problem seemed to solve itself.

I have had my phone about 2-3 weeks now and I haven't come across this problem in the time I've had it.

This happened about 2-3 hours ago though, and I've been trying to solve it since. I had my mobile phone (Sony Ericsson v630i) plugged into my laptop which I am on now with the USB cable that came with it as I was transferring files to and from my phone and laptop.

I left it in for a while a and eventually I was sure I noticed the transfer files window kind of flickered as if it refreshed or something, as I was looking at another window. I tried transferring a file but I noticed the window said no mobile phone is connected. I tried plugging in and out the phone on the laptop but I every time I try that now, I get the following bubble message at the bottom right of my screen:

"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message."

Clicking the message does nothing because it only says to plug it and and out, and if nothing happens then replace the device.

I tried doing a system restore, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, downloading the latest drivers compatible with Vista (I used the updated Vista drivers from the website to install it originally), and also tried reinstalling from the device manager. Each time I've done these I have restarted my computer but it still fails to work. I... Read more

Hi I am using vodafone mobile broadband while on holiday. I am able to receive emails but am having a problem sending them. There is no error message it just times out. I have rebooted laptop but am getting nowhere - had the same problem a few weeks ago - the email i was sending just sat in my outbox until I got home. Any suggestions appreciated

Answer:mobile broadband

The general rule is that you must send mail using the SMTP server of the ISP with which you are connected to the internet. At the moment, that means using Vodafone's SMTP server. Your email program will almost certainly be configured to use the SMTP server of your home broadband provider, which won't work with the Vodafone connection.

Hi, I've a Lenovo S10-3 to which I've fitted an Ericsson F3607GW wwan card for Lenovo notebooks FRU: 60Y3237.  I bought the card from Hong Kong via Ebay.  I downloaded driver 83W013WW.exe from the Lenovo site and it allows me to connect in areas of 3G coverage. Unfortunately we don't have full 3G coverage in Australia and in my home region there is only a GSM signal and the card will not connect to it, although my old usb plug in modem works fine!  According to the Ericsson data sheet the F3607GW has the full range of frequency bands avilable - so it should work! I see that other drivers and the Ericsson broadband Manager are available and would welcome help in what drivers/broadband managers to use.  I have read on other forums that some other modems require the region to be set to '3' to allow proper working in Australia. I would welcome advice on which drivers/manager etc to use to get the card working properly in Australia. If anyone has experience with the GPS capability of this card I would like to learn how it was done - that's the next step after getting the wireless broadband function to work! Looking forward to some good advice! Rogerf

hi rogerf.due to it was working before, i can say there's no compatible issue with the device and computer.you may need to contact ericsson or the mobile provider in aussie. still, there may be users here who has/had the same issue. you can wait for reply.

Hi,I was wondering whether my R50 laptop can support mobile broadband. I have tried to insert a Three dongle but nothing happens. The laptop has recently had a major problem and the software has been returned to factory settings a number of times. So I don't know whether a driver is required and it has not been put back on or whether the laptop is just too old? Thanks Extin

Answer:R50 - mobile broadband?

hey extin, welcome to the forums.hard for me to say if a driver is needed or not. The unit of yours, is it running on XP on Win7 ?If it is on XP, a high chance you may need a driver. I would then suggest that you get in contact with the mobile broadband vendor and check with them.

Hello, I purchased a T400s in the UK which came with a Vodafone SIM inside it for mobile broadband. However, due to some error, this SIM never was activated and I can't use it. I'm wondering if I can purchase a mobile broadband SIM from T-Mobile (or indeed anyone else) and use it with integrated SIM component of the laptop - does anyone know if this would work just fine, or would any hardware or software modifications be required? (I have a clean install of Windows 7 on the laptop.) Thanks for any input, /vijayan

Answer:Mobile broadband SIM

Will work, if you will have SIm card with 3G activated. If you have model F3507g, then this is Erricson hardware and if you are not fun of Access Connections tool of Lenovo (i do not use this tool), then i can recommend you simple tool directly from Ericsson http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilebroadband/download/wirelessmanager/gc83?lc=en&cc=us

Answer:Mobile Broadband

You would not be able to use your 3 mobile Broadband abroad as difference country uses difference system via their mobile network, you will also need an account with the local broadband supplier Mobile roaming calls worldwide is difference than mobile broadband Most International telephone companies have an agreement between themselves that will allow you to use your local mobile phone on there local network and charge you roaming fees from 80% - 175% above the normal cost some also charge you both ways, for receiving a call or a text message and when you make a call

Question: Mobile Broadband

I have mobile broadband with 3. Today I tried to connect and did so successfully. However, when I check the connection to see my how my usage was going my 3 connection manager told me I was not connected? How can this be? I am connected to the internet via my USB 3 modem not wifi and am surfing the net.Can anyone help me understand this?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

When you install the 3 Mobile Broadband software, an entry is added in the Network Connections folder for a "Dial-up" connection. If you double click this, you will connect without having to use the Connection Manager, which may still show you as *NOT* connected, even though you are.Additionally, if the Mobile Broadband is set as your default connection and in "Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections" you have selected either...- Dial whenever a network connection is not present- Always dial my default connection...then as soon as you run a program that requires internet access (web browser, email etc), the Mobile Broadband will connect.

Answer:Mobile Broadband

If you didn't fit mobile broadband card yourself you havn't that card in your laptop from the factory. It's wwan ready only, i.e.has internal wwan antennas and sim card holder. If you'll decide to buy and insert wwan card you have not to download and launch application from Lenovo site "Mobile Broadband". It's for simless CDMA/EV-DO networks only.

Question: Mobile broadband

I bought a Lenono Thinkpad Edge E530c and would like to use the internal 3G mobile connecting. I inserted my sim into the sim slot under the batery compartment but its not working.  It looks like the drivers are missing. When I start the Mobile connection app it give me "No Wireless Mobile Broadband device found." When I go look in the device manager I cant see any modems installed. So how do I make use of the 3G sim slot to connect to the internet? I also downloaded some bluetooth / modem drivers for my series but nothing seems to work. Please help.

Answer:Mobile broadband

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad E530c, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.
