I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Sounds like you might be missing the driver. Download your wireless carriers driver with the links below and then follow the Installation instructions included towards the bottom of the page. Verizon Driver Vodafone and AT&T

Hi all,I have issues getting mobile (3/4g) broadband to work with my new T470 Thinkpad. In Ubuntu, the Fibocom Adapter is only detected as a generic MBIM adapter, and although Network Manager (and it's applet) display my network provider, the connection is not established, and the system process mbim-proxy is hanging at 100% CPU. This issue has been reported here (but seems to remain unsolved ?) : https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg158286.html Did anyone get this to work?Best whishes and thanks for any hints!

Hi, I used to connect mobile broadband using "huawei mobile broadband" USB with mobile partner software. I saw there's a SIM card slot in my T400, and see if I could simply insert my SIM card to it. I went to Access Connection and the Mobile Broadhand Button is gray out. My Machine:- Windows 7 Enterprise 64- T400 2768-A57 Do I need to buy any additional hardware? Any comment will be highly appreciated. Regards,Wilson

Answer:T400 Mobile Broadband Issues

Wilson, welcome to the forum,

you will need to purchase and install the appropriate WWAN card for your T400. According to the support site it's "upgradeable"; this means the antennae and sim slot are present, but not the WWAN card.

Hi There, I have looked through a few posts re similar issues, but haven't been able to solve my problem. My T400 had a Vodafone UK sim Card with it, and when i received the new laptop, I inserted my Irish vodafone sim, it did work at the beginning. Now I can't get it to connect...In Network Connections the erricson F3507G shows as disconnectedIn Access connections the option to use HSPA Mobile Broadband is greyed out, and in properties here the erricson card is listed as disabled, but there is no way to enable it. I hope someone can help me with this...it's probably a setting I changed, as it did work at first, but I don't know what I could have done to make it stop working Thanks in advance Elisabeth

Hi, I'm trying to find specs for the T400's mobile broadband wireless card.  The T400 support site says there are three options.  A Qualcomm version and two by Ericsson, but the configuration page only offers two options: "Mobile Broadband" or "No Mobile Broadband".  Anyone know which card the laptop ships with? Thx!

I've come to hate Access Connections over the last few years.  I never had any issues with it when IBM was still in charge,  but quirks and inconsistencies have crept in since Lenovo took over so I've ended up uninstalling it on several systems I support just because it's more hassle than it's worth and Windows 7 does a sufficiently thorough job of managing connections, especially with the ability to set default printer based on location. Unfortunately, one of the "problem" systems I'm dealing with is a T400 (Type 7417) with a Mobile Broadband card in it and Access Connections appears to be necessary to use Mobile Broadband. Access Connections isn't giving enough value to justify continuing to fight it, so I just want to know if there is a way to manage Mobile Broadband without it.

Answer:T400 - Mobile Broadband without Access Connections?

The "Access Connection Card" is nothing but a broadband modem installed, and it is linked to a given provider. The alternative is to use Wi-Fi. I travel a lot with my T-510, and use a Express card modem for direct Sprint Access. Works great in most USA areas. When I travel abroad I use the Wi-Fi connection. It is a different antenna etc. than the broadband modem.

Hi Rakjaer,

The 6475-R1G does not have a mobile broadband card, unless you added one. The SIM slot does not indicate that a mobile broadband card is present.

I haven't used Intel My WiFi, but for it to work the Intel My WiFi software has to be installed.

Hi, my company purchased x240s and the GOBI cards separately and of course they purchased the AT&T version and we use Verizon as our carrier. Now here is the thing, even with that branding from the tech specs on the Lenovo shop portal they look exactly the same. When I install the latest drivers for the GOBI card and Lenovo Access Connections I can get it to somewhat work in the beginning and then it stops working. I tried every conceivable way to get it to work all the time but it's a hit or miss until it permanently fails and the sim I use is from an x230 that also has a GOBI card. My question is does it really make a difference if it is branded as AT&T since the GOBI card does work at some point and if it doesn't matter am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help!

Hello all,I have ThinkPad T440p with Win7 pro I7 processor,it has SIM adapter under the battery, I insert the broadband sim I have and downloaded Access ConnectionThe app has 4 options WiFi  / Mobile connection / WiMax & Other connections,Why i can't click Mobile Connection ?!!!! it's Inactive with Wimax too. I need to activate it please. Thanks

Answer:Thinkpad T440p: Mobile Broadband - it's Inactive button !!!

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad T440p, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

If you navigate to Control Panel ? Device Manager, you should be able to see the listed network adapters in the computer. Can you post what these adapters are or take a screenshot of them? If a mobile broadband card is installed in your machine, it should show up there.

Best,

You don't really need this software to use your WWAN card, in fact even you succeed to install it, it might prove unuseful to you (Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation is an application for ThinkPad systems to support mobile broadband (3G/4G) activation for various service providers)(various providers not equal all providers). Answer:Lenovo Mobile Broadband Connection Driver for Windows 7 - ThinkPad x200 5NG

you will want to check whetner there is a physical card installed. the x200 does have the card slot, but that does not mean that wwan card is installed. and even then ,its also not confirmed whether you have the wwan antennas installed. you will want to check your windows device manager and make sure you have a 3g modem listed under network adapters. if you dont, the card is unlikely to have been installed physically.

What is the impact on battery (Windows and Linux)?6. Is AliExpress a good place to buy? Thankyou

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250

Regarding your questions:1) I personally use it and it's really good, as I don't want to use additional USB modem or WWAN wireless router.2) Can't say, as I don't use Fedora.3) There's a dedicated port for this module. Please make sure, that you have an antenna connectors for module and adapter for a SIM card. Moreover, instead of WWAN module, you can install there a m.2 2242 SSD disk.4) Both can be enabled and connected, but application will use one at time.5) I have an extended battery, so it's hard to tell. I guess it have a simmilar power usage as WLAN module (basing on Windows power utilization). Can't say about Fedora.6) It you don't want to have a problem with whitelist (it prevent system from booting, when unauthorized module is installed), then I look for module on eBay. Make sure, that photos explictly show FRU PN: 04X6014 on module's label. Models without it will not work.

I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.

Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.

Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Everything else works fine with the W530. I've owned ThinkPads exclusively since the first one ever came out. I've never not been able to connect to mobil... Read more

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

Answer:X60s - Is the built-in 3G mobile Mobile Broadband adaptor locked?

Go to ebay and buy unlocked mc8755 for lenovo. It is about $25 buy it now. I bought two, problem solve.

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago. When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately, that has not been appearing since the last few days. I checked my hardware and it appears that there still is a 'Smart Card' but with no information regardin it. I also checked the HP Support Assistant and HP Utility Center but they had nothing. I have tried removing the card and placing it back again. The computer emits the sound that recognizes new hardware but no installater comes up Searching forums, I tried downloading the HP Connection Manager, but it failed to install when an error message ' NO WWAN' came up I also downloaded and reinstalled the latest Mobile Broadband Drivers but nothing happened. In fact, I suspect that it maybe the new updated drivers that caused my T-mobile SIM card to be disabled. I have tried calling HP support but they cannot help and demand payment for 'advanced tech support' when my Laptop is still under Warranty. I tried calling T-mobile, but they said that it was a problem that I needed to contact HP for. I contacted Microsoft that said I need to get in touch with T-mobile. The second call on HP, they told me to contact T-mobile, One big circle. TL;DR: I need the installer for my T-mobile SIM Card, mobile broadband... Read more

i have a T400, 7417CTO, i have tried, but failed to find information on my question.does the T400's bios support the intel Quad mobile? and does the power delivery system have enough juice to power these 45Wtdp Chips? i know that the highest cpu supported by the t400 is the p8800 and the T9900, the T9900 is a 35wtdp chip, and has been released Q2 09. (these are options offered during customization by lenovo) i ask because i can get a QX9100 (or a Q9100 ES) for relatively cheap and i wanted to know if i could have the ultimate T400 by installing such a chip in it. http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=37033  -  Q9100 from intel Thanks.Message Edited by dragon-fly on 07-08-2009 12:10 PM

Answer:Intel Quad Mobile in a T400

I compared the specifications between the Intel® Core?2 Duo Processor P8400 and the Intel® Core?2 Quad Processor Q9100 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=37033 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=35569 What differs, apart from the amount of cores/transistors ofc, is as you've already mentioned the thermal design power and the die size. Theoretically this implies that everything will work except the the cooling of the processor. I don't know how big the contact surface on the T400's cooling unit is, since I haven't opened it. But some modifications to the cooling unit is probably needed. I found a similar thread with some speculations/answers:http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=312453 Message Edited by Aiwi on 07-09-2009 07:02 AM

Hi all, Just took delivery of an Ericsson F3507g that was sold as suitable for my laptop. I have installed it in the minipci slot and after a reboot, it is picked up and te relevant drivers installed (that I downloaded from lenovo site). I have a Vodafone sim that I want to use however no matter what I try, it doesn't seem to come up in the Mobile connect/activation software. Steps I have taken: - BIOS update- drivers re-downloaded and installed The device is listed in device manager with no problems/issues shown. running Windows 7 Ultimate on a T400 - Core2Duo P8700 I bought this adapter as I'm going to be in Europe next month but need to remain online for business purposes. Bit worried I'll not get this sorted now and I don't want to mess around with USB dongles etc! Can anyone help? Thanks!

Answer:T400 - Vodafone Broadband

Hi,be sure:1. wwan antennas have been connected properly2. sim card has been activated, has broadband (internet access) capability at the tariff (you do not need use Lenovo activation sw for Vodafone)3. wwan card is enabled in the BIOS Setup menu (usually under Security menu, I/O Port Access)4. "WWAN Autoconfig" service works5. wwan card related device (item) is presented in the Device Manager, in the Network Adapters Group6. Lenovo Power Management driver and Hotkey Features Integration package have been installed7. wireless radio has been turned on (I'm not sure your laptop has such switcher)8. mobile broadband has been enabled in the wireless control window (usually Fn+F5)9. you should see appropriate item in the VAN UI window (white bars in the tray). Mouse right click on that item, options, profile, type in Vodafone APN settings.

I have 2 Lenovo laptops that I am trying to install Verizon Broadband on.  Both came with WLAN cards that work.  I purchased UNDP broadband cards to connect to Verizon.  I installed them, but when I start Mobile Broadband, it says "No Wireless Mobile Broadband device found".   I also tried Access Connections. but the broadband option is greyed out.   Nothing shows in device manager.  Models are  7417-CTO  and 7417-TRU.  I have downloaded and installed updated drivers, rebooted, re-installed.  Nothing changes.  I tried Lenovo support, but they cannot even confirm that this card is correct for the 7417-TRU.  Waiting 2 days for a response from a tech.  It seems that a lot of people have had this problem, but I can't find any resolutions.  Any help ?

Answer:T400 problem with broadband

graybeard52, I had a similar problem recently. What I figured is that there's a unique "dance sequence" of drivers and access managers that seemd to be needed to get UNDP to work. Here's the cocktail of drivers that works for me: 4. VZAccessManager 6.9.43. Thinkvantage Access Connections 5.30 (6HCX12WW)2. Verizon Wireless WAN (UNDP) Driver 1.0.91. UNDP Firmware Version D1050-SUUAASDA-2151 1 (April 18, 2008) See if you can re-install the drivers in the sequence, 1, 2, 3, 4 (VZAccessManager being the last).  See if this helps you. Regards, sroy(I'm sending this message over the UNDP/Verizon network) ps. My machine config is: Lenovo T-400, Machine Model: 2767-A15, XP SP3 (5.1.2600), BIOS version 3.01 (5/15/2009)pps. I'll try removing Access Connections (since I think VZAccess Manager and the Windows XP WLAN Network Connection manager are sufficient)

Hi everyone - I have a new T400 from my company and want to know if it has a ATT or Verizon card built into the system.  My IT folks never respond and I can't tell from the device manager.  And...I don't want to crack the thing open to find out.  Any way to easily tell?

Answer:Internal Broadband Card in T400?

Hi matt_fl,Welcome to the forum! What is 7 character product number of your T400? it can be found on the back and looks something like 2668-KHU. If you plug into the Quick Path [right hand on top-mid] on following page:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/homeLenovo.do?country=us , it will tell you system specification for your particular T400, if the product number ends in -CTO then you will need to use the parts lookup page to figure out what components are inside your system:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=/partslookup/partsLookup.vmFurther, you can also try using PC Wizard to determine if your T400 has Broadband card: http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php Hope it helps.

Just called to have a T400 Power brick sent to me, the machine is still under warranty so it was at no cost to me. I seem to be going at the steady rate of consuming 1 power brick per year, and I was wondering if this is normal for other heavily mobile users. I use my machine for school, and I bring the brick with me when I travel to campus, so the brick gets plugged, unplugged, and wrapped up and shoved into a bag about ten or more times per week. The first one simply stopped working after about a year. The second also survived for about a year and it seems like there is a loose connection on the side of the brick that connects to the laptop. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues? Can anyone recommend a way to treat the brick more gently so that I can make one last more than a year?

Answer:T400 Power Brick needs annual replacement under heavy mobile use?

This doesn't sound normal. I toted my T400 adapter around high school and a half of first-year on it's original adapter. The adapter still works. (Maybe because I put the Intel Core 2 inside sticker on it? )I think if your wall power has unstable current or voltage, it may wear out the adapter faster.

Hello,I think of buying the ThinkPad T400 with one of these docking stations: ThinkPad Advanced Dock or ThinkPad Dock II.I have several technical questions and haven't found neither appropriate information, nor the way to get it.Here are my questions:1. Do these docking stations support DVI when T400 with integrated (not discrete) graphics is connected? 2. Where can I find a complete list of UltraBay devices supported by each one of these docking stations? Thanks

Answer:T400 with docking stations, ThinkPad Advanced Dock and ThinkPad Dock II

I have a T400 with integrated graphics and recently purchased the Advanced Mini Dock 250410U.  The Advanced Dock and Advanced Mini Dock support DVI pass-through.  I looked into this before purchasing as well. This page will confirm the feature:  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-72148.  Also see reference guide for docking stations: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4TPJF4 which says ThinkPad Dock II is discontinued.  This brochure says the Advanced Mini Dock does not support Ultrabay, but the Advanced Dock does.  http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options_iso/tp_docking_solutions_june09.pdf .

My company deployed about 500 T400 laptops to field users, and many of these users use a Verizon 5740 broadband card to connect. The problem that I'm seeing is that the verizon card will continually drop its connection after about 2-3 minutes of use.The drivers are all up to date. I didn't run into this issue with the T43, 60p, and T61 units that we deployed. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Answer:T400 drops Verizon Broadband connection

Hi Device,  Yes, I have had this problem with my Lenovo T60P with a USB Verizon Broadband card. I can connect but after 1 or 2 minutes I lose the connection. I replaced the USB Verizon Broadband card 3 times at my local Verizon Wireless store. Don't bother going to the store they have no idea what to do other than to swap out the Broadband card and reinstall the VZ Access Manager. I was finally able to get a tech on the phone who gave me some clues to the problem. He reviewed my 50 + dropped connections from the prior day and he said in every case the Verizon Server was causing the connection to drop because the laptop was "leaking" a second IP Address. Apparently to Verizon this is an attempted Hack so they automatically cause the user to be dropped.  Armed with this information, I rebooted my laptop and I am attempting to kill various tasks on my computer until I do not lose the connection. I have not yet detected what piece of software that I am running could be causing an "IP Leak", the only ones that come to mind are VPN and Citrix products which I do use but NEVER with my Broadband card. so this is not my issue. My recommendation is to take a laptop that is having this problem and try and determine which software component that is running is causing the "IP Leak", If you find out can you please post here, so that I can also fix this issue. I am running Windows XP with a USB based Verizon Broadband Card. Hope this helps. Steve

Question: Mobile Broadband

I have mobile broadband with 3. Today I tried to connect and did so successfully. However, when I check the connection to see my how my usage was going my 3 connection manager told me I was not connected? How can this be? I am connected to the internet via my USB 3 modem not wifi and am surfing the net.Can anyone help me understand this?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

When you install the 3 Mobile Broadband software, an entry is added in the Network Connections folder for a "Dial-up" connection. If you double click this, you will connect without having to use the Connection Manager, which may still show you as *NOT* connected, even though you are.Additionally, if the Mobile Broadband is set as your default connection and in "Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections" you have selected either...- Dial whenever a network connection is not present- Always dial my default connection...then as soon as you run a program that requires internet access (web browser, email etc), the Mobile Broadband will connect.

Answer:T 430 MOBILE BROADBAND

Hi Swathu,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Are you sure that your model has been shipped with WWAN card from the factory?

If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband. Also, install Think Vantage Access connections to handle various wireless profiles.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I will be moving from the rented house I've been in for 21 months into a new house in the next couple of months. The house is a new-build and I will obviously not have broadband to start with - don't know if I'll have a phone line straightaway yet. I am trying to work out the best way to get online during this time.I am in the UK.

I went in to an O2 shop today and they were trying to sell me a dongle which cost £20 and then £2 a day, £7.50 for a week and £15 for a month. This would get over my immediate problem of geing broadband-lacking when I move but wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a dongle with x amount of Gbs (to be decided) which doesn't have clock running on it. So, after I've stopped needing it at the new house, I could take it out and about with me on my laptop whenever I wanted and when it ran out I'd top it up.

Does such a deal exist and, if so, what size in Gbs would be OK? We use aroung 10Gb per month on average but that's with the kids looking at YouTube, using iPlayer a bit so assume that just a bit of surfing would need less? Thanks for any help.

Answer:Mobile broadband Pay-as-you-go?

Hi,
I use '3' mobile broadband all over UK. £10 per month, 1gb which is plenty for an hour or so a day surfing plus emails.

I think in a new build you'll soon have utility providers beating a path to your door!!

Hi,I was wondering whether my R50 laptop can support mobile broadband. I have tried to insert a Three dongle but nothing happens. The laptop has recently had a major problem and the software has been returned to factory settings a number of times. So I don't know whether a driver is required and it has not been put back on or whether the laptop is just too old? Thanks Extin

Answer:R50 - mobile broadband?

hey extin, welcome to the forums.hard for me to say if a driver is needed or not. The unit of yours, is it running on XP on Win7 ?If it is on XP, a high chance you may need a driver. I would then suggest that you get in contact with the mobile broadband vendor and check with them.

Question: 3 mobile broadband

Please help! I have 3 connect mobile broadband (dongle). I connected it ages ago and it installed and worked fine. Then I uninstalled it. Now when I put the dongle into the USB port, it won't auto install. It says that it cannot be installed properly. (it does, however, work on other computers). I phones 3 connect support and they were uselss. When I looked into device manager, and click on the icon (which has a ! on it) it says:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

It wont auto load and im getting pretty fed up. Please can anyone help. I am thinking I must have deleted some drivers, but when i select 'update driver' it says that my drivers are fully updated.

I have just purchased a Lenovo T420s with the built in mobile broadbank option.  I don't seem to have received a sim with my package, is that normal?  Any suggestions as to the best place to pick one up?

Answer:Mobile Broadband Sim

Did you configure it with the Gobi 3000 card? If you did call Lenovo and they should send you out the missing SIM card. Hit Fn+F5 and check for the Wireless WAN option in there.

I have 3 mobile Broadband. I have a monthly contract. Can I use it abroad, if so what do I do now?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

You would not be able to use your 3 mobile Broadband abroad as difference country uses difference system via their mobile network, you will also need an account with the local broadband supplier Mobile roaming calls worldwide is difference than mobile broadband Most International telephone companies have an agreement between themselves that will allow you to use your local mobile phone on there local network and charge you roaming fees from 80% - 175% above the normal cost some also charge you both ways, for receiving a call or a text message and when you make a call

Question: Mobile Broadband

Hi,Slightly hijacking the thread...I too live in a rural area (Ewelme in Oxfordshire). Our problem is that the exchange is the other side of the Thames and the Council will not let BT place more cabling over the bridge or under the Thames - so some users have Broadband others do not (only at 1mbps).Mobile signal is atrocious indoors, can barely get a signal and 3G is non-existant. However, outside and a few yards down the drive 3G kicks in.Therefore my question is: Is it possible to get a High Gain aerial and have that connect to the 3G dongle to access a better signal inside the house? If so, does anyone know how, and which equipment is required?I work in Kent and really would like to be able to work from home occasionally to avoid the 200 mile round trip every day to the office.ThanksJ

Answer:Mobile Broadband

Don't think there is any way you are going to get it, until Gov makes a move on all UK being able to get BB. This they are wanting to do. And charge everybody for the extra installation. About £6 to £8 a year. One of the things they are doing is laying Fiber Optics in Sewer Pipes

Answer:S12 Mobile broadband

Hi and welcome there.. i heard not about the first time this question.. Al what i can say is the best compatible WWAN card is the SE F3507  ...and not all cards will work overall (different / newer Card-Firmware) even when you buy a Lenovo card (used by some thinkpads/S10 with 3G/S10-2 with 3G)
second is more difficult have to disassemble your Ideapad ... you need to install a antenna in LCD frame (loose warranty)...
and the third barrier is under windows till now not correct working scenario (even with the actual drivers) ...
Hints for try out upgrading/opening S12  here in this part of forum ... same for tryout upgrading wwan card...

Hi, I've a Lenovo S10-3 to which I've fitted an Ericsson F3607GW wwan card for Lenovo notebooks FRU: 60Y3237.  I bought the card from Hong Kong via Ebay.  I downloaded driver 83W013WW.exe from the Lenovo site and it allows me to connect in areas of 3G coverage. Unfortunately we don't have full 3G coverage in Australia and in my home region there is only a GSM signal and the card will not connect to it, although my old usb plug in modem works fine!  According to the Ericsson data sheet the F3607GW has the full range of frequency bands avilable - so it should work! I see that other drivers and the Ericsson broadband Manager are available and would welcome help in what drivers/broadband managers to use.  I have read on other forums that some other modems require the region to be set to '3' to allow proper working in Australia. I would welcome advice on which drivers/manager etc to use to get the card working properly in Australia. If anyone has experience with the GPS capability of this card I would like to learn how it was done - that's the next step after getting the wireless broadband function to work! Looking forward to some good advice! Rogerf

Answer:GPS without Mobile broadband

Not all cards are supported and may need to be unlocked, see related threads on this.  May be easier to use a USB GPS device while not using your minutes.

Answer:mobile broadband

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I assume you live in the UK like me so I think I can help.

I use 3 mobile broadband which in my opinion is the best of the PAYG tariffs. You can buy a dongle which is the expensive bit or if you have an unlocked 3G phone which allows tethering you can use that if you know how to set it up.
You get 150MB of free data when you top up (minimum ?5 in store, ?10 online) plus it also works as a phone if you want it to.
This 150MB of data lasts 90 days or until you use it all up.
This means it works out you spend ?1.66 for 50MB of data every month, which if you have static broadband at your home should be enough. If you ever use more than this just top up more regularly.

For more info (and probably a much clearer explanation visit 3 - Pay As You Go - SIM Only - Free stuff - Free stuff with every top-up)

I don't know too much about Virgin medias mobile broadband but a good place to start would be here Mobile Broadband - Broadband - Virgin Media

Hope this helps, Oli.

EDIT: After reading your post more carefully, it sound like your do not have your Internet connection going into a Wireless router and then to your laptop and desktop.

This suggests to me that your Virgin Contract may be quite old as all new tariffs include a free Wireless router and setup, not to mention less to pay per month (I went down this road with BT, tripled my connection speed, got a load of free stuff and I now pay ?10 less per month.)

I would be interested in peoples observations as well.At present I'm on T-mobile web and walk with Blackberry 8800 (it is not 3G and has low modem speed) which works well when there is coverage. Occaisionally I have driven around chasing signal or at popular festival events due to increased phone traffic.Personally i would give 4 out of 5 for flexibility and coverage whilst with price of package only 3 out of 5Philip

Question: Mobile broadband

Hi By default the Mobile broadband card in my X301 is turned off. Is it possible to turn in on by default when Windows start ups

Answer:Mobile broadband

It has to be mentioned as matter of disclaimer really since this forum is innundated with users who mistakenly believe they're x was GSM / CDMA equipped when they notice the SIM card slot under the battery. Most X's have the SIM slot but this seems standard regardless if the user configured or will have it installed. Assuming you spec'd your for the card and aren't being hopefully confused by spotting the slot....1. Check your BIOS setting to ensure the card is enabled2. check devmgmt.msc for the WiFi or "MobileBroadband" category since the category isn't standard and verify the card is properly installed and enabled / if it is then verify in the cards Advanced properties to ensure the OPERATING SYSTEM DOESN'T TURN OFF THE CARD TO SAVE POWER !!!! Still failing then contact tech support or reply with the rest of the story and whatever inordinary things you've done to this thing because the manufacturers and cellular providers along with Lenovo's group have worked extraordinarily hard to even COOPERATE IN DETERMINING CONFIGURATION AND RARE FOR  SO MANY THINGS TO COME TOGETHER SO WELL IN LAPTOP AS DO BROADBAND CARDS. The cards monthly subscription costs and cellular usage penalties has forced them to behave so cohesively when delivering the option since the type of person who buys a broadband card expects it to work and work out of the box. If you could take an official or even unofficial survey of what kind of hardware failure makes end users and prosum... Answer:Mobile Broadband

If you didn't fit mobile broadband card yourself you havn't that card in your laptop from the factory. It's wwan ready only, i.e.has internal wwan antennas and sim card holder. If you'll decide to buy and insert wwan card you have not to download and launch application from Lenovo site "Mobile Broadband". It's for simless CDMA/EV-DO networks only.

Question: Mobile broadband

I bought a Lenono Thinkpad Edge E530c and would like to use the internal 3G mobile connecting. I inserted my sim into the sim slot under the batery compartment but its not working.  It looks like the drivers are missing. When I start the Mobile connection app it give me "No Wireless Mobile Broadband device found." When I go look in the device manager I cant see any modems installed. So how do I make use of the 3G sim slot to connect to the internet? I also downloaded some bluetooth / modem drivers for my series but nothing seems to work. Please help.

Answer:Mobile broadband

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad E530c, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed.

Best regards,
Mithun.

Question: mobile broadband

Hi I am using vodafone mobile broadband while on holiday. I am able to receive emails but am having a problem sending them. There is no error message it just times out. I have rebooted laptop but am getting nowhere - had the same problem a few weeks ago - the email i was sending just sat in my outbox until I got home. Any suggestions appreciated

Answer:mobile broadband

The general rule is that you must send mail using the SMTP server of the ISP with which you are connected to the internet. At the moment, that means using Vodafone's SMTP server. Your email program will almost certainly be configured to use the SMTP server of your home broadband provider, which won't work with the Vodafone connection.

HiI'm having a problem with mobile broadband on our x200 laptops After a period of use the HSPA Mobile broadband becomes grayed out. On investigation it seems like the entire ericsson network adaptor has been removed as it has gone from device manager and it re detected . Reinstalling the driver makes no difference . The wireless and Lan connections are not afffected . On rebuilding the laptop the network adaptor returns so it does exsist on the laptop This is happening over multiple laptops . We have a locked down user profile so users would not be able to removed the hardware . Has anyone seen this before ?? Peter

Hello, I purchased a T400s in the UK which came with a Vodafone SIM inside it for mobile broadband. However, due to some error, this SIM never was activated and I can't use it. I'm wondering if I can purchase a mobile broadband SIM from T-Mobile (or indeed anyone else) and use it with integrated SIM component of the laptop - does anyone know if this would work just fine, or would any hardware or software modifications be required? Will work, if you will have SIm card with 3G activated. If you have model F3507g, then this is Erricson hardware and if you are not fun of Access Connections tool of Lenovo (i do not use this tool), then i can recommend you simple tool directly from Ericsson http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilebroadband/download/wirelessmanager/gc83?lc=en&cc=us

OK, I asked a question before and got one response...but not answers. This should be simple.1. I have been using the mobile broadband on my T410 for 3 years. It worked fine.2. I did a major windows update.3. Mobile broadband has gone. There is nothing! COmputer says there is no sim card. (there is a sim card and I reinserted it)4. FN F5 bring up no mobile broadband.5. I am paying my $30/ month and have had nothing for past 4 months!!! its killing me. 6.  It worked once for 3 years. Now it does not work. I tried reinstaling the software and it gets almost rhrough and says "There is no mobile sim card installed in this computer"!! Ugggh!!!!7. Lenovo support is useless. Even tho I only annoyed them one time with a problem in 3 years of service contract, my contract ended a couple months ago....so no help there....I have spoken to a dozen people and none have a clue what to do. Surely someone out there has seen or heard about this? My computer cannot be convinced that mobile broadband should be allowed to work!!   HELP!

Answer:Mobile Broadband....need help - its gone...!

I'm the person who responded before. Could anyone who has mobile broadband and who has kept all the various Microsoft and Lenovo updates current tell us that their WWAN is still working? It seems odd if Wombat and I both had a hardware failure at the same update time, but I suppose it could happen. PS My card is an Ericsson 3507
