W530 Win 10 64bit Optimus Driver Package Missing Intel Drivers

Question: W530 Win 10 64bit Optimus Driver Package Missing Intel Drivers

As far as I can tell by looking in each folder of g5dn13ww.exe, there are no intel integrated (HD4000) drivers at all in the install package. If installed, this causes problems in Optimus mode with the Nvidia manager and if OS graphics detection is turned on in the bios, it will not switch Optimus on, since what remains on the laptop is an older version of the intel graphics. I had to install the latest from Intel directly, but am wary of breaking Optimus, though the Optimus switching dll's are only in the Nvidia installation files (those are there in g5dn13ww.exe).

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Upgrading my W530 Thinkpad to 1607, 3/4 way through the update, the Intel graphics driver is permanently disabled and the laptop screen goes blank.   The only way to monitor the rest of upgrade is to plug in an external monitor.   Once the upgrade is finished, rebooting still has the laptop monitor completely blank or displaying the "Lenovo" logo.   Reinstalling the Nvidia-Intel Win 10 Optimus graphics drivers does not fix anything, the intel video driver stays disabled.   Even if you try to replace it with the latest Intel video driver it does not work.   How could this get through beta testing.   No one with an optimus laptop ever tested the insider builds at all?    Before I plugged in the external monitor, I thought my laptop OS was permanently corrupt.

Since Windows 10 What are your recommendations for installing Optimus drivers? Only Lenovo drivers? Better use latest Nvidia / Intel drivers?Do you recommend installing drivers when the machine is undocked? Is it true that switching on "Intel only" in bios breaks the Optimus driver? Usually I run my W530 docked and with additional displays attached to the dock. Therefore I need Nvidia drivers. In Win 10 1511 I was able to save some power when switching to "Intel only" in bios for road work. Since Win 10 1607 my W530 get's stuck on boot when trying that setting. So what are my options? Which drivers do I need? Which environment and which installation sequence do you suggest?Any hints why I can't boot with "Intel only"?

I was looking at the Driver matrix for the W520, (shared with the T420 and T520) http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-77167 After opening the page for the Optimus driver, It was interesting to see that it actually contains both the NVIDIA driver and the Intel HD3000 Integrated driver.  The Optimus driver has two version numbers!  (look in the summary of changes).  One version number is for the discrete NVIDIA GPU driver, and one is for the Intel integrated IGP driver. After my system arrives, I will download the most recent Optimus driver.  At this time the Optimus driver package is over 190 MB in size.

Just upgraded to Win 8.1 and upgraded to the latest Optimus NVidia drivers.  Major failure.  On reboot, the screen remains blank, occasionally shows a small flashing image on a few pixels, lower left side of screen, occasionally shows the mouse pointer. Able to use thumbprint but still no video access.  Seems like it is booting up but can't see anything.  If I force bios back to the Intel 4000 only, all works fine EXCEPT MY CAD PROGRAM!Went onto NVidia site and downloaded their recommendation and it is now booting into NVidia mode except for this:I am using 8.1 boot direct to desktop (old style win 7) when I hit the windows key into win8 mode, the screen starts flashing and won't stop until I get it back to the win7 desktop.   Any ideas??

Answer:W530 WIN 8.1 upgrade Optimus NVidia driver failure

I am having the same problem except after installing any old or new drivers from nvidia when I restart the screen is black.  Only if I force the intel graphics in bios will I be able to see everything on the screen. If i remove the drivers (Nvidia) entirly in safe mode and then reboot it works for one loading. After windows installs the nvidia driver and the computer is restarted the screen goes black. I can move the mouse and see it but that is it.

So, just like the title says, the recommended drivers for my t410s, Win8 64 bit, configuration 2924AZ5, do not install. It just says 'no compatible hardware found.' I have fully uninstalled the drivers for both the NVS 3100M and the Intel display adapter, fully updated the Intel adapter via Windows Update (right click -> update drivers, search automatically) and they are running version 8.15.10.2858 from 10/9/2012.My nVidia hardware id is PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A6C&SUBSYS_21BE17AA&REV_A2, which is not found in the .inf files in the extracted installer. Even if I try adding the ID to the supported devices section, the installer will allow installation to start, but then it will fail after a short while simply stating that the display driver failed to install.Any advice would be appreciated. It Is unfortunate that the recommended drivers for my configuration do not even begin to install by default, and now I cannot even get it back to the working state it was in with the old drivers from before the Windows 8 upgrade.

Answer:Cannot install recommended display drivers for Optimus t410s on Win8 64bit

Are you running 64-bit win8? You need to have the Intel Display/VGA driver installed first before the NVidia driver will install. It does not come from Lenovo, but is the one that came with windows 8. Then use this nVIDIA driver:http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/6idh21ww.exe

All: I have had an issue that hasn't gotten any help from Lenovo.  Fortunately I did get some help from Intel forums.  If any of you have Optimus, the Intel drivers both from Lenovo's website and also from the Intel website do not load - they complain about not finding the hardware.  Intel gave me the tip that the driver should indeed load even on an optimus system.  There is nothing custom or unique about the Intel driver on an Optimus system. Here is the link to the steps I used to successfully update both my Intel and Nvidia graphic drivers to the latest releases available from the vendors - while we wait for Lenovo to release an update more currently than every 6 months. http://communities.intel.com/thread/24790

Hello, I have T520 with Optimus FHD screen. I have XP installed in my Ultrabay HDD.I understand that XP doesn't support Optimus and that I must go to BIOS and choose either Discrete or Integrated. OPTION 1 (Discrete Only)  Which someone what works:- So, when I have Discrete enabled in BIOS - and installed Nvidia Drivers in XP - everything works fine, expcept on 90% initial boot ups after going from Win 7 to XP (F12 Options) -  I assume the NVIDIA driver doesn't get initially recognised and the XP boots up in non native resolution.- It's only after I restart again and use (F12 again) to pick Ultrabay with XP, the Nvidia gets properly loaded. But this time, there is a prolong delay (60 to 90 seconds) of black screen after the WIndows XP Welcome screen before the desktop appears. OPTION 2 (Intgrated Display Only) - Of couse, this after uninstalling NVIDIA Graphic Driver in XP- In BIOS, Integrated Graphic in choosen.- XP boots up in basic resolution.- I download (From Lenovo T520 Driver Page) - Intel Integrated Driver for Win XP 32.- When I try to install it, it says "The computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"- BTW, I do have all the WIndows Updates including NET 3.0 and higher- So then, I try to forcibly installed through Device Manager and Having DISK  - but I get Error message.- But somehow, it works after. One guess I have and that confuses me is the Otimus Graphic Card - where maybe it can only work... I have a W530 running the latest updates for Windows 7.  When I try to install the Intel WLAN Driver - 7 (64) V17.13.11 from System Update, it stops at 91%.  How can I get it to finish the installation?  Thanks.

Search your disk for recent *.log files right after an install attempt. Most driver installers output a nice detailed breakdown of what they're doing.

Having my W530 for a couple of weeks now, I'm trying to understand how the Nvidia Optimus technology works: I've found the GPU activity icon to see what programs and displays are using the Nvidia GPU. Looking into this I've noticed that my external HP monitor is always using the Nvidia GPU while the laptop screen is always using the Integrated Intel GPU. Even if I have a program that is utilizing the Nvidia GPU open on the laptop display - the laptop display is shown as using the Integrated GPU.  Is this normal? I would have thought that one GPU or the other would be powering both displays but I don't know much about how this Optimus technology works.

Answer:W530 Nvidia Optimus Questions

The W530 is configured so all the external display ports work off the Nvidia card. This means that when the computer is attached to one or multiple external monitors, the Intel graphics chip runs the notebook display. You may be able to adjust whether the Nvidia graphics controls the notebook display as well by checking settings in the Nvidia control panel.

Long story short: Recently placed an order for a W530. Just checked my shipping order status and I see "NO_RAIDInternal RAID - Not Enabled" Also took a look at the W530 manual and I see the following, as I'm planning to install a 2nd HDD: Hard disk drive bay adapterT530, T530i, W530 non-RAID modelW530 RAID model Wait, what? There was no such option to choose when ordering the laptop. So do I actually have a W530 RAID model or not?Tried calling sales, sales directed me to tech, tech directed me back to sales as I didn't have the laptop physically in my hands yet, back and forth another two times before I gave up. Also just saw this little blurb in the manual about Optimus and Intel HD4000 in the laptop. Really? This wasn't listed at all in the spec sheet. I'm planning to do a fresh install of win 7 so hopefully this disables optimus and just keeps the laptop running off the quadro at all times, but would anyone here be kind enough to elaborate on their experiences, if any, with disabling Optimus? Thanks! Any help I could get hbere would be greatly appreciated, after so much frustration with the official tech support channels.

Answer:W530 - Do i have RAID or not? + disabling Optimus

RAID models ship from Lenovo with two HDD drives.  As for the video chipset question, there are three modes you can enforce in the BIOS.  Optimus (default) Integrated (intel) or Discrete (nvidia).  Optimus uses both and conserves power when on battery.

Dear all, I've come here for help...again, and I now need to make two threads becuase of two different issues. So, this thread relates to the use of NVIDIA discreet graphics only, without Optimus, which has been disabled in BIOS. If you are interested to know how I got here, then please head here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Triple-display-on-W530-30-quot-19-quot-laptop... I have experienced the following issue, however. Now that everything is running nice and dandy, the laptop's display has gone back to having automatic brightness adjustment depending on content. NVIDIA's control panel does not have anything mentioned about it.Windows Services "sensor monitoring service" is disabled.Power plan adaptive brightness is also OFFBefore I switched to non-Optimus NVIDIA only graphics, the Intel control panel also had its option for adaptive brightness off but that panel doesn't start up anymore. Any ideas on how to make this behaviour stop? I want to calibrate my laptop panel but it would be impossible with this. Many thanks, Max PS: Powerball question; If I am using the Displayport already to get 10bit colour signal with one of my monitors, how do I get a second monitor connected to the W530 and also get 10bit colour signal?  VGA doesn't support it... so, USB3? Do I need a dock?

Then click "change plan settings" for your power plan.

I've not had a problem with system Update 4 until today.  I went out to check for any updates and there was only one (Optional) listed so I went ahead and tried to install it. It is Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver for Windows 64bit.  The installed version is 9.5.7.1002 and the version trying to be installed is 9.6.0.1014.  The progress bar indicated it downloaded and tried to install, but ended with the error, "1 Package did not install."  Not a lot of help in that statement!?! Has anyone had a problem like this before?  Any idea how to "fix" it so I can install this update? I even tried once with MS Security Essentials, Windows Firewall and UAC turned off with no difference. System details are in my sig, below. Thanks for any help,

I had been running a Beta package I sources about 7 months ago a least to fix crashes etc. Lenovo finally released it last year or end I am not sure now. But I never bothered to install int since my system was stable and with BSD as I had before. I tested and ran the WEI before I did the update and there were no changes in my benchmark scores. However after I installed the Nvidia 4200M update my graphic scores were the same but Processor and memory speed dropped!! Processor went from 7.5 to 6.9Memory speed from 7.9 to 7.3 I was amazed they were affected. As if the altered the clock on the processor of FSB. I did not test or look at them but regardless it definitely dropped. I never benchmarked of ran with Turbo Enabled but I tried that as well. The numbers did not go up and not change for anything else. Really odd what they have done in that package. I have a image and will put it all back later but I thought I'd let people know. I alse appears the Turbo does not improve processing since the numbers are the same. I'd have to look at it later with CPU-z 64 and see what its saying. I appears that the Lenovo fix along with newer driver also implements a slowdown to correct problems. Not very good approach slowing down the data rates to achieve stability. LOL

Hi, I recently reinstalled Win7 on my ThinkPad W530 and all drivers were installed correctly except the "network controller" driver so no wifi. The Physical Device Object Name is: NTPNP_PCI0017 I tried with all the available networking drivers on lenovo but none is working.  Thanks in advance!

Answer:W530 Missing Network Controller Driver - No Wifi

You mean "network adapter"?  Wireless LAN, or Wireless WAN?

What hardware device name do you show in Device Manager which you describe as your problem, since if you are missing a driver for a device it should probably show up as "other device" with a yellow exclamation mark?

The standard wireless network adapter in the W530 is the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205, but other adapters are possible. All of them are supported by the Intel Wireless driver available from the Lenovo driver download site.

You do have the wireless radio slide switch pushed to the "on" position, right?

Hi, Bought a new W530 with K2000M just yesterday and had it upgraded to 32Gb with a 256Gb SSD main drive. The company where i bought it, installed it and imaged it with win 7 pro x64 All works fine until i get a screen of small rectangular blocks, all nicely aligned with garbled content (but you can see a little bit of the original content still).  the content changes and flashes.  this continues for liek 5-30 seconds after which the machine restarts.  it seem to happen when i do something more graphic but not always.  during a 7 hour work session i got this behavior about 6 times. Went to the support site, downloaded the latest optimus drivers and installed them.   no luck there. Saw that the company where i bought it had a driver download folder with nvidia drivers in it.  tried to install it but crashed the machine... had to restore it... same behavior as before... crashing.then went into the bios suspecting maybe a hardware problem of some sort.  Saw that i could switch to integrated graphics card only instead of optimus (thinking the less complicated the better).  this change exhibited the exact same behavior...Just out of curiosity i went back to bios and changes it to discrete only... as from then no problems anymore... of course this is great to be able to work but not a permanent solution. One test that always fails with the integrated / optimus is windows Experience Index...for the discrete ca... Answer:Internal / optimus setup crashing on W530 - garbled output

Hi jcuypersContact Tech Support. If I am not wrong, your W530 integrated graphic processor is faulty, it's not onboard like the older days, but it's built-in Intel CPU.You could probably try update your system through System Update (Control Panel > Lenovo - Update and driver). Outdated driver may provide lower performance and less functionality or even more issues.

Hello everyone,I have just re-installed (after formatting) win 8.1 64bit on my lenovo G50-30.After downloading every driver from support.lenovo.com, I noticed that there are no USB drivers available for Win 8.1.The only driver I found on the website is for Win 7 64 bit. I actually tried to install it but the setup gets stuck with the following error: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software".I also tried to install everything  on administrator mode but without success, same error. Is it possible that there are no drivers for Win 8.1? Frankly, this sounds quite embarassing. Regards

My wireless connection in my Lenovo ThinkPad W530 is not reliable.  If I do a ping -t [gateway-ip] and let it run, I get a lot of timeouts.  My wireless network is 5 bars and seems to remain connected.  I have disabled power management on the driver, as well as uninstalling Lenovo power management on the laptop.  My network card is the Intel Ultimate-N 6300.  I get this problem at work, at home, in hotels, and many customer environments.  I have swapped out the network card twice.  I have tried the latest Lenovo drivers and Intel drivers. Is there a known compatibility issue with the Intel 6300?  Any other ideas besides putting in an external wireless NIC in my ExpressCard slot?  Any ideas as to how to isolate this problem further?

Good day all .

I read various posts on different area's regarding chipset installation and drivers.

Some info : motherboard is Microstar p45 platinum gamer series.

it comes with 2 sets of cd's #1 for win xp intel chipset drivers&utilities disk.
#2 chipset disk for vista.

question #1 does windows 7 64bit (pro) contain the sata drivers and all the utilities for install ? or do i need to utilize the preinstall of the f6 and make a install floppy? msi has a section for downloads .

I have searched for the uptodate drivers listed in the arcive section where my board is now listed.

I have downloaded all the drivers and a floppy f6 creater to install these files

I am a bit confused as to how i am going to install win 7 on this system .

I may go with a xp/7 duel boot .

I want to add raid 5 after 7 install and i know xp could not see anything beyond raid 0 or 1.
looking for some advice before i start the process.

I hope the thread title is better this time.
if the install sequence works the way i want it to go ; perhaps i can create a tuit.
thanks for everyone's help .
its always appreciated

Before I get too far into the discussion, enumerating the various inexplicable behaviors I see (when I expect a different behavior), I'd like to set the stage background.

Up until this week I had been running with "discrete graphics" set in the BIOS.  No Optimus at all.  I run my W530 Win7 x64 machine almost 100% plugged into A/C power, and also using an external 24" 1920x1200 monitor (via miniDP cable from the W530).  So I wanted to get maximum graphics performance and was unconcerned about battery consumption.  In other words, I wanted to use K1000M graphics 100% of the time.

And even on the rare occasions when the W530 was running in portable mode on battery, I was never using it on battery for more than a few hours.  And even with "discrete graphics" K1000M running on battery, there were at least several hours of capacity which was plenty of time to cover me before having an opportunity to plug it in again to re-charge.  So again, I was quite happy using K1000M graphics all the time.

Well this week I decided to experiment with Optimus Mode, to really find out how it worked, when it worked, and how it would deal with my external monitor as I operate 99.99% of the time vs. portable mode when I'm using just the laptop screen.  If things performed as I imagined they would, this seems like it could be perfectly acceptable... while potentially providing additional hours of portable usage life on battery if I needed i... Followup, based on my lengthy discussions today with Lenovo tech support (2nd level "software") as well as with nVidia tech support (first via online chat, and then talking by phone with a very knowledgeable tech support rep).

It would now appear that my own above-described confusion about the assortment of anomalies and seeming non-function of capabilities apparently built into nVidia Control Panel by nVidia to control Optimus per user-specified customizations... well, it appears to be my own false expectations which are responsible.

It would appear that Lenovo's implementation of Optimus technology (as theoretically provided by nVidia) is really the simplest implementation possible, namely one that is really BIOS-based and hardware supported, but which is NOT further customizable to user requirements per nVidia Control Panel.  It is fixed and unchangeable in behavior, and it works exactly as Lenovo engineers intended when Optimus mode is enabled in the BIOS:

(1) for the laptop screen, internal HD4000 graphics is ALWAYS used until graphics performance requirements exceeds some threshold at which point the K1000M kicks in automatically.  This may not happen at all for certain programs (i.e. these programs will ALWAYS see internal graphics used), but for other programs (e.g. media players) the program may start out using internal graphics but change "on-the-fly" to K100M if performance requires it.

Hi,  Today l have downloaded and installed the mentioned above update by TVSU. Everything went fine and I was asked to do restart. l did it and it got stuck at "preparing your desktop" after a bit of a while it displayed error message that my desktop couldn't be loaded, check location. l could click only yes and l did so. The desktop theme was very basic and l couldn't see any icons on the desktop. l restarted the machine by doing it from the start menu.  And after a second restart it seems normal. Please anyone from Lenovo please tell me if this was related to my machine or to the driver installer package.  Btw when I'm inking this message in Tip your toolbox popped up and crashed. I use x200t with win 7 64bit us eng. Answer:wifi driver for intel cards (for win 7 64bit)

I run a W510 Win7 x64 and got the same recommendation from TVSU to install this driver. Apparently W510 support has been temporarily discontinued but then reinstated as regards this driver and software. I therefore at present do not have any version of it on my system.  My question is: is there any good reason I would want to waste neary 1 GB of space to install this thing, when at present my wifi is working just fine? The update readme just mentions incremental fixes etc but does not give an overarching purpose for the package as a whole. What is it for and do I really need it if my wifi is working just fine as is? Thanks, Peter

I don't know for a fact but I think the switchable graphics may be the problem with Windows 10. I had this issue with my W500. Go into BIOS and set the display to the Intel chip. Then go to the Intel site and get the driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4600. Manually install the driver using the inf file. If that works, you can do the same with Nvidia. Again you need to set the BIOS to discrete then install a driver. I have to go into BIOS to switch graphics drivers. Maybe someone has a better solution.

SO, I upgraded to Windows 8 and had to remove some of the preinstalled software that came from Lenovo and was able to get most of it back but it seems to be a lower version.  Also, I have not been able to get the power manager to work anywhere near what it should (ie no tray battery with percentage/time left or even show a battery vs AC power profile). Is there a way to get a download or disc that can just install them all as they came/should come?

I received this L355D in a trade for a PC unit.

It supposedly had a virus on it and would not run so the previous owner wiped the drive and installed a Linux OS on it prior to offering it to me in a trade and I didnt have the password for the Linux and the previous owner could not be contacted, so I wiped the drive and installed XP Professional 64 that I purchased and had installed on the tower that I traded (I kept the hard drive). XP Pro 64 only comes with SP2.

I had the same issues with missing drivers.
I did realise that the original problem WAS NOT a virus as the previous owner thought due to its suddenly shutting down, the unit was overheating due to a build up of dust and other fuzz at the fan intake.

I downloaded the drivers from Toshiba that are intended for that are Vista 64 platform (I am using XP 64bit, like many, I hate Vista) some had to have a second attempt but I managed to install nearly all of them and they work!

This cured the Altheros wireless and it works well but the Altheros ethernet isn't
This cured the issue with the Realtek ethernet and it works well and is in use now
The Realtek multimedia works along with all of the others.

Also, I use MS Essentials for security (no particular reason) and if you decide to use it, select Vista 64 as your OS because XP 64 isn't supported and will not install but if you lie and say your a Vista 64 it will, sometimes it doesn't start up so a simple "restart" cures the problem.

Answer:Missing Drivers T460 Windows 7 64bit

Good day and welcome to the community.

In my experience, the third of your devices: PCI Simple Communications Controller, is associated with the Intel AMT/IME system. Looking at the close similarity of all three "devices" DEV IDs, they may all be related.

You may want to research installing the IME firmware and IME interface packages located in the chipset section of the drivers listing at: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-T-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-T46...

Hope this helps a bit.

Hi buddy,

It?s hard to say that drivers you still need because Satellite A200 is not Windows 7 64bit supported. With other words Toshiba doesn?t provide any drivers for this model and Windows 7 64bit.

What you can try is using Vista 64bit drivers. Usually the most of them should work on Windows 7 64bit.

Mass Storage Controller could be the card reader but regarding Untitled Device I don?t have an idea so you must check the vendor and device ID.

Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2444

Listed but when I click on properties, I am told that no drivers are installed for either.

Also I can't find a USB Hub or whatever its called mentioned in the device manager and I understand this should be there. I also had to use an XP recovery disc to install XP over the old installation very recently, I think this could be the cause of my strife. All help will be greatly appreciated amigoes! Thanks

Hi,

Can anyone give me the link for these drivers, I think they are chipset from Intel, the devices are the SM Bus controller, and an "unknown device".
The HP Support site for drivers download only has chipset drivers for graphics, NOT for the chipset, while you can see Windows7 has both graphics and chipset.....

I am using 64Bit Ultimate Vista on the laptop HP Pavilion DV4-1430us.

These are the problem devices:
UNKNOWN DEVICE:
Not Available ACPI\HPQ0004\3&33FD14CA&0 The drivers for this device are not installed.

SMBUS Controller:
SM Bus Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2930&SUBSYS_30F7103C&REV_03\3&33FD14CA&0&FB The drivers for this device are not installed.

Much appreciated!!

Thanks.

Hello: I sure hope someone out there in the Vista Forum has tried or done this with success. I just got my first laptop running Vista Home Premium 64 bit system. I have installed Norton Ghost 14.0 on it and the installation went great and can create backups. BUT! To restore a backup I have to create a Recovery Disk. I have created many on my desktops running 32bit systems. When I try to make one on the Notebook it says can not create RD because can not use 32bit drivers on a 64bit system and goes on to say I can manually add them and a box pops up with a ADD button and a BROWSE. While I have no idea were to look for them. I chatted with Symantec Support and they told me to run a Validation Driver Test and it will show me what missing drivers I need to make the RD work. It shows 3, 02Micro Integrated MMC/SD controller ,02Micro Interated MS/MSPRO/xD controller and WAN Miniport (SSTP) . I tried a Google search and it said Driver Guide has them so I signed up and after searching there driver base with no luck. So I have no idea were or how to fine these drivers. I am hoping maybe someone has had luck with the Norton Ghost 14.0 RD and would love to hear from you and how you make it work. Thank You. Donnor.

Hi, I got first X240 to our company. I have had serious problems to install drivers into operating system. All Windows updates are up to date, thinkvantage system update has been run numerous times. Unfortunately, I had to install all thinkvantage programs manually as well as drivers. Now there is one particular unknown device listed in device manager. I have downloaded and installed the right Thinpad wlan driver from the drivers section for x240. I have still problems to get wlan controller identified by Windows 7. I have also tried to install those drivers manually. I am starting to wonder that there is something wrong with the drivers or the hardware itself. I have installed around 450+ Lenovo Thinkpads during my career. Any suggestions? Is there known issue with the x240 wlan controller driver? Thanks in advance.

Answer:ThinkPad X240 missing WLAN drivers on Windows 7 64bit Enterprise

Hi Supre5,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m really sorry to hear that you had trouble installing wireless LAN card driver for your Lenovo Thinkpad X240.

I would like to thank you for the effort you took to search the same in Lenovo Support Page.

First of all, you need to find the Hardware ID of the device for which you need the drivers.

 1. Right click on the device that you need to identify, then choose properties.
 2. Once you have the properties Windows Click on the details tab.
 3. On the details tab Choose Hardware ID on the Property Drop down box.
Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Eg: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10F5&SUBSYS_20EE17AA&REV_03

Go to PCI DATABASE and enter the DEV value into the device search. Find the matching VEN value from the results and that would be the exact driver you require for your system.

Hope this helps! Post back if you face any difficulties in installing the specified driver.

Best regards,
Mithun.

Answer:AMD 64bit vs Intel 64bit vs Intel Dual Core..help!

I depends on what you plan to do, how long you want before you upgrade - and at this tme I would't suppose it makes any difference - they're all blindingly fast.A dual core processor will be better in the longer run, as more applications become available to take advantage of it.I get by quite happily with a 2.4GHz P4, and it does everything I ask of it (no games or video editing) with ample speed - that's why what you do is important when making a judgement.

As I want to change my OS from VISTA (32bit) to Windows 7 (64bit) I am about downloading all driver necessary for proper function of my laptop in the future.

When choosing my laptop (Qosmio F50-10M) and the OS (Windows7-64bit) there is no more infrared driver (for my remote control).

Do I need to have a driver for the infrared interface (as I have and is downloadable with VISTA32)?
If so, where can I get it?

Thank you for assistance!

Kind regards,
starmind

Answer:Qosmio F50-10M - Infrared driver for Windows 7 64bit missing

Hi Starmind_1,

I don?t have remote control for my Qosmio F50 so I can?t test it but if there is no driver for Windows 7, I assume the Vista 64bit driver should work properly on Windows 7. Furthermore the most Vista drivers also work on Windows 7 so it?s worth a try! :)

But from my own experience I can say that Windows 7 64bit works like a charm on Qosmio F50 and in my opinion better as Vista. I have used all drivers from official Toshiba website and don?t have any problems.
Everything runs great! :)

Good afternoon,

After extensive searching of the forums I have been unable to find a solution so far.

A few of months ago, following the demise of her previous Satellite, my lady friend acquired a Satellite C870-11G running Windows 7 (64 bit).

She acquire the machine online from PC World and after doing the windows updates set it up using the Zonealarm free firewall & AVG 2013 free antivirus. We installed the bundled Microsoft Office 365 and drivers for her HP F4180 Deskjet.

Initially everything ran fine but about a month ago the machine would not recognise the printer.

After doing the troubleshooting thing, the machine reported an "SM BUS Controller Driver" as being missing.

After a lot of net research etc, plus faffing around with the System Restore" function, I still couldn't fix it and so went for the 'nuclear option' i.e. I backed all her data up and did a full Factory Reset from the restore partition.

We've gradually been putting it back together, reloading her data, re-installing ZoneAlarm & AVG, Picassa & Office 365. Yesterday I went to re-install the printer drivers but before doing so checked the Device Manager only to find that the error "SM BUS controller driver is missing" had returned. Grrrrr...

I've been trying to use the system restore to go back restore point by restore point but that too now fails to complete every time with the error (0x80070005).

Before I go Nuclear again, has anyone any idea... Read more

I recently acquired a Pavilion Slimline (s5503w) desktop PC. For whatever reason the hard drive was blanked out when I received it and upon installing Windows 7 64-bit (Ultimate Ed) I've had quite some time locating the proper drivers. Attempting to use the recommended drivers from HP's website resulted in a 9996 error, you don't meet the requirements. Proper recommended installer for that version of windows, but no luck. I've also tried installing the Ethernet and Audio drivers recommended by Nividia's website. A 15.49 package, but though it recognizes the video card it doesn't notice the onboard Ethernet or Audio. Neither of these devices is listed in device manager as far as I can tell either. No typical yellow exclamation mark stating that the driver is missing.

Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I have a ThinkPad W520 with an i7 i2720QM employing optimus to switch between a stock intel and an NVIDIA Quadro 1000M gpu. Optimus no longer appears to be working and I cannot get the Nvidia card to function even after reinstalling stock drivers cleanly in safe mode. For several months I have attempted to resolve this issue without success. I am running windows 10 but had the issue before making the switch. On one attempt I was able to get the nvidia control panel to deploy so that I could access the nvidia controls but that only lasted for a week and reverted back even after attempting the same configuration. When attemping to install current lenovo nvidia updates the installer displays an "installation package is corrupt" message. When attempting to launch the nvidia control panel the icon flickers and then does nothing. When I right click on the desktop only the nvidia desktop manager icon is displayed and then does not launch either. This problem started when I connected my machine to a projector and since then my laptop does not recognize any video device.  This seems like such a basic function -- connecting a laptop to a projector -- and I have never had this issue with my other machines. Especially since this is a W series machine designed for performance. It's basically useless to me now.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have Win7 and Office 2010 both 64 bit. I also have a 32 bit application running where I need a 32 bit *.accdb
(MS Access) ODBC driver. Using the 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe is returning “The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application”. So I need a
32 bit ODBC *.accdb driver for my application.
My problem:
When I open c:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcsys32.exe and try to ADD a new dsn there is only a *.mdb driver available for MS Access. Does anyone know how to
add a 32 bit MS Access *.accdb driver to c:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcsys32.exe? Maybe I missed something obvious but this is giving me headache after browsing through the Internet for a solution.

Thanks

Answer:32 bit ODBC driver for MS Access 2010 (*.accdb) is missing in Win7 64bit

Carl, I just figured out a solution... If you are running a 64-bit Computer and Running Access 2010, you will first need to download the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe from Microsoft.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=7554F536-8C28-4598-9B72-EF94E038C891&displaylang=en

After the download finishes, and installs, You will need to create an ODBC connection. Instead of creating an ODBC connection through your Administrative Tools, Data Sources (ODBC) interface, you will need to run the 64-bit instance of Data Sources (ODBC).
To do this, you will need to click your "Windows" + "R" buttons on the keyboard, and then paste "c:\windows\sysWOW64\odbcad32.exe" -- without quotes into the dialog. Then create the connection to the database as you would on a 32 bit machine.

I had the same issues with the *.accdb not showing up in my 64 bit ODBC connections. It then showed up after performing the above steps.

Hope this Helps,

Hi, We are currently in the process of evaluating the T510 as our new standard laptop. We are considdering purchasing teh 4314-9WG model, that has on board both the Nvidia Quadro NVS3100mm, as well as the integrated Intel graphics of the QM57 chipset.  Now normally, the Nvidia Optimus system would enable the user to switch between these 2 graphics "cards"  on the fly (as I understand it). However, our current install image is still based on Windows XP SP3, as there is no driver support for Nvidia Optimus for XP. Thus, we have the following question:  Will our users be able to use the Intel integrated Graphics by default on XP, even though the Optimus witching will not work.  or in other words:  Is the Optimus driver a pre-requisite for using one or the other video card as default under Windows XP What will the Laptop due without this driver? We would accept that for now, users would be bound to only use either the Intel integrated graphics, or the Nvidia Quadro.

Answer:Nvidia Optimus Support under XP - NVS3100mm vs Intel integrated

I had our supplier check with Lenovo to get confirmation that we could use the T510 under Windows XP. We didnt expect to be able to use graphic switiching (no XP driver available), but it was acceptable to us to force the T510 to use either the Intel Integrated HD, or the Nvidia Quadro until we could get a Windows 7 install image completed. Our supplier confirmed that Lenovo had check with Nvidia, as was confident it wasnt a problem. However, now that we actually have the T510's here ( 4384-GEG) I am running into the issue that I cant seen to get either the Intel nor the Nvidia driver to install. In the BIOS I have forced it to use Integrated graphics, but the Intel Graphics driver install doesnt seem to get past the "Turbo Boost Technology Driver" part. Nothing else seems to appear.  And when directing unknown device directly to the unpacked Intel drivers, it doesnt seem to recognise them. This is a default XP SP3 install. I I tried running the Lenovo update util, but it didnt appear to want to download any graphics driver.

i have a t420 with optimus hardware. i can drive external displays if i enable optimus or use discrete graphics setting in bios. the configuration effectively switches from nvidia to intel hd when docked and undocked respectively. however, the nvidia engine remains active if i start a program while docked (on external display) and then disconnect from dock. this creates a significant battery issue.if i set video mode to integrated only in bios, i can't drive a displayport. whether or not the nvidia driver is installed makes no difference.i know that an integrated-graphics-only t420 can drive a displayport. do i have to run the nvidia drivers and enable the nvidia chip to drive a displayport on an optimus-configured t420?thanksgeorge anyone want to trade an integrated only t420 for my optimus t420 ? Have you gone into you BIOS setting. Set the graphic as INTEL only. Then there is no Nvidia and no optimus available and basically the same as an integrated only system.

If you have Java installed, you can try this Intel Driver Update Utility which should find the driver you require. Note that I have not yet tested it on 8.1 but I'm guessing it should work for you:

Intel? Driver Update Utility

Good luck and I hope this helps you.

Because I couldn't get properly running some games like FFOW on my Windows 7 (not compatible) I decided to buy 64bit Vista Ultimate.
But while installation ,required CD/DVD drive device driver missing, message was shown.
I looked at some forums and found was problem also somewhere else for some other people...
I tried couple of things whitch didn't work for me but luckily I found a solution.
Here it is:

Thats what worked for me.

In BIOS setting (while start up press F2) at Advanced Tab there is a SATA Operation:AHCI (not RAID but I don't know, even RAID maight work) and SATA AHCI Mode: I changed from Legacy AHCI to Native AHCI.

As described at Item Specific Help Tab: Native AHCI will load option ROM, but legacy will not.

Before while instalation Wista Ultimate 64 bit on my Alienware x17 aftere while was message shown:

During install "required CD/DVD drive device driver missing"

After changing SATA AHCI mode in BIOS to Native AHCI while setup was soon shown field requiere serial number...GREAT!!!

When instaling I manually reboot couple of times when just black screen with blinking cursor was shown (and nothing was happening...)

Now my Vista 64 bit is fully intaled, thanks to all guys at forums to let me thing and inspired me to find (with a bit of good luck) solution.

I had similar problem like many of you, wish you good luck to make your system working (if you need to)

Jarek

Hello. I have the Intel 5300 Wifi Link. AGN driver is v 14.2.0.10. When I run the system update it tells me there is a "Intel Wireless WiFi for Windows 7 32-bit" driver version 13.04.0000. The question is which driver is best to run? The older or newer even though the system update is telling me there is an older version available.  2nd question: What is the best way to verify the model of wifi hardware installed?

Hi! I have an aspire E1-470 with 64bit windows 8. I was wondering if it's possible to install the latest generic graphics driver for my intel hd graphics 4000. Tried to do it before but i couldn't because it prompts me about something like the driver for my graphics card is customized by acer and that i should contact it to get the lastest driver. The driver posted on the intel website is newer than the one i can get from acer.  Thanks a bunch!

Answer:Installing Latest(based from intel drivers) driver...

It is recommended to download the latest graphics drivers for your system. You can do this by following the steps below:1. Go to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers2. Type Aspire E1-470 in the box below "Search by Product Model" and click "Search".3. Click on your model number from the list that comes up.4. Once the details about your model are displayed, select your current operating system appropriately from the drop-down menu besides "Operating System".5. Now, click on Driver tab and locate suitable VGA driver. In your case, you need to download VGA driver for Intel. Once you have located the driver, click Download in the same row and follow on-screen instructions to download the driver in your computer.6. Follow on-screen instructions to install the latest driver. Hope this will help you.

I'd like to update my integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver, but the Intel Driver Update Utility is showing two different drivers, one says Intel Graphics Driver, and the other says Intel HD Graphics Driver.

Why is it showing two different drivers and which one, or both, should I install?

Answer:Intel Driver Update Utility showing two different drivers

Hi MW,
Depends on your graphics card, with or without HD,
note1 these are generic drivers if you have an OEM install, use the ones from them, unless your having a problem.
note2 if your specs are correct then use your >>Nvidea<< control panel

After a sudden overnight update to Windows 10 the machine started to freeze and crash - mostly while the mouse cursor moves or dialog opens or other display changes happen quickly. I figure I should update the graphics card, which is listed as Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 My Envy 4 machine runs a 64-bit system on core i3 2376 CPU @1.4Ghz For that machine, the Intel website will not give an option for a Windows 10 update. The driver version is wayyyyy behind: version 9.17.10.4229 Current version update is for Windows 8 for that graphic card. It is here:https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81500/Intel-HD-Graphics-3000-for-2nd-Generation-Intel-Core-...The version there is listed as 15.28.24.64.4229 which is signed to a year ago, with a slightly lower version number released 2/2016 (16 months ago). It is only given as an .exe package which will not install because of spec incompatibility. Can I get the Win8 driver for the Win10 machine? If this makes sense where can I get the file itself and how to do this? TIA Yuval
