Lenovo System Update will not install Intel Wireless Display Package v. 4.2.24.0

Question: Lenovo System Update will not install Intel Wireless Display Package v. 4.2.24.0

System:Laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad w530 2436CTOOS: Microsoft Windows 7 ProfessionalProcessor: Intel Core i7-3630QMWireless Adapter: Intel Centrino Ultimate N 6300 AGNDisplay Adapters: Intel HD Graphics 4000, NVidia Quadro K1000M Drivers:Intel PROSet/Wireless Software v. 18.20.0Intel Management Engine Components v. 9.5.14.1724Intel HD Graphics v. 8.15.10.2725 Issue:Using the Lenovo System Update to install a recommended update "Intel Wireless Display" 4.2.24.0, the installation fails. Using the provided link to manually install also fails. The above system meets the hardware requirements for Intel WIDI, yet the Lenovo Package WILL NOT INSTALL. Other symptoms:In the Lenovo Access Connections application under Tools, My Wifi is greyed out. Following instructions here to enable My Wifi, the above cited Intel PROSet driver does not provide an option for My WIFI, only repair or uninstall. There is also an abundance of results in this forum that are dead links going back to 2011. I cannot update my Intel display driver because it is OEM. Notes:Both display adapters are enabled in the latest Lenovo Bios and appear fine in device manager.I have used the Lenovo System Update with little to no modifications to this install. This laptop was originally sold with Windows 8, but for work purposes it has 7 professional. Thank you for any assistance!

Preferred Solution: Lenovo System Update will not install Intel Wireless Display Package v. 4.2.24.0

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've not had a problem with system Update 4 until today.  I went out to check for any updates and there was only one (Optional) listed so I went ahead and tried to install it. It is Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver for Windows 64bit.  The installed version is 9.5.7.1002 and the version trying to be installed is 9.6.0.1014.  The progress bar indicated it downloaded and tried to install, but ended with the error, "1 Package did not install."  Not a lot of help in that statement!?! Has anyone had a problem like this before?  Any idea how to "fix" it so I can install this update? I even tried once with MS Security Essentials, Windows Firewall and UAC turned off with no difference. System details are in my sig, below. Thanks for any help,

Answer:T410 System Update 4 - Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver "Package did not install" Error

The installer in the package is missing or is bad. If you really want to install it then you'll have to download it manually from Lenovo site, expand it, then install the driver via Control Panel -> Device Manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller -> Intel blahblah -> update driver. Nap.

After running the Lenovo System Updater and installing "Lenovo Settings Dependency Package" version 2.2.0.27 the Display Port is no longer working. No matter what I tried to do (Bios, scan for new hardware, plugging cables in and out, rebooting countless times, ....)  there was no way to enable my external display again. I uninstalled the package and it worked again. Not only are Lenovo X1 Carbons very expensive, but you also spend about 1 hour every week figuring out some driver problem or Lenovo software bug. We have about 20 Lenovo laptops in our company and will replace them all with Apple Powerbooks. Software and hardware quality went downhill, and the countless hours spent on debugging and the frustration is simply not worth it. Thorsten

Answer:Display Port not working after Update of "Lenovo Settings Dependency Package" v 2.2.0.27

After running the Lenovo System Update yesterday the Display Port first was not working at all (despite all sorts of reboots etc.).  Now I uninstalled the Lenovo Utility Pack, which brought the Display Port back to life -- but not after a sleep or hibernate, then I have to repeatedly plug/unplug the cable to finally get the display recognized.

Really frustrating.

I just installed System Update 3.13 on a T41p.  The first time and each subsequent time I've tried to run it, when it gets to the 16% or 17% mark, it comes to a download package for the Lenovo Help Center (1 of 1), at which point "An error occurred while downloading packages" thus terminating the session.  What should I do to resolve?  Thanks.

Here is the Lenovo's version, the version is 3.5.40:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-75695 And here is the Intel's release, the version is 4.0.18:http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031109.htm On the "help" screen of Lenovo's release, clicking the "Check for updates" link will take you to the Intel's above page. So I think the Lenovo's software package is the same with Intel's? Of course for the requirements of 1: Wifi driver and 2: display driver, I will stick to Lenovo's offer. So is it safe to install the 4.0.18 versoin on ThinkPad? Thanks.

Answer:Can I use Intel's official WiDi software (Wireless Display) instead of the one provided by Lenovo?

I use 4.0.18 on my x220 with windows 8 and my LG SmartTV.  It gets rid of a few bogus error msgs and is working fine.

Hi there, My System: Lenovo X240 with Windows 10 x64 I have the following problem: Intel Wireless LAN Driver 18.11.0 stays in System Update even though it is already installed. What I have already tried:Downloading the driver from the website and repairing itUninstalling the driver from Control Panel, rebooting and installing it again from System Update Neither of the above resolved the issue. See the screenshot below (clickable): As I understand, System Update somehow fails to detect that the driver is already installed. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you.

I recently purchased a refurbished T410 as I always have been interested in Thinkpad's for a while and felt it was time to take the plunge. I have been using it without any issues until I installed Lenovo Update and once I installed it I let it do its thing and update all that it needed to one thing being the BIOS. Once everything updated and it restarted itself I was at my desktop and I could not get a wireless signal only to find out that my wireless adapter wasn?t even being recognized. I pulled up device manager and looked into the issue and saw that it has a Code 52. This message followed: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52) After doing some research I found out that upon boot you can press F8 and boot into the Windows advanced boot options and select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement." Once I did this the problem was solved but here is the kicker, this is needed to be done every time you power on the T410 from shut down. Has anyone encountered this sort of problem before or can help me and point me in a specific direction to help fix this issue?

Answer:Lenovo Update installed on T410 now have Code 52 on Intel Wireless 6300 AGN adapter

I figured out the problem and long story short what I did was basically go into the device manager find the wireless adapter and then highlighted it.Once it was highlighted I right clicked it and selected uninstall. Then I restarted my thinkpad and upon restart Windows 7 automatically reloaded the drivers to it and then it was back in action and is now in working order.

Folks, I have a Surface Pro 3 on 10130.

The Intel Display driver update repeatedly fails, and I'm repeatedly offered the 5/14/2015 system update, which appears to succeed, but subsequently is offered again.

I've stopped WU, removed the SoftwareDistribution folder, restarted WU, etc, no joy.

Any help/advice appreciated...

Answer:Lenovo system update fails to install

Hi, budam

I would recommend trying to install the software in Safe Mode to see if that helps. Safe Mode will disable all non-necessary drivers and devices, which means that programs and other active software has less to wade through when working.

To enter Safe Mode in Windows 7:

Start the computer from cold boot.
When the splash screen appears ("LENOVO" appears in big, white text) begin tapping F8 repeatedly.
Continue tapping F8 until a menu appears.
Select Safe Mode.
Hit Enter.
The computer should now boot to Safe Mode.

Try installing it in this mode and see if it helps. Note: In Safe Mode (not Safe Mode with Networking) internet access is disabled, so make sure you know where the install files are, as you will not be able to download them in this mode.

Best of luck,
Adam

Answer:Update package did not install

Are you installing this package on your own, or are you doing it through SYstem Update?

While I haven't looked up this specific package, IBM/Lenovo updates in the past require the downloading of the update, then you have to go in and manually run the setup or executable file.  It is a bit of a two step process.

Hi...I'm running Win7 Home Premium (64-bit), 8Gb RAM, with the chip:
Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology

Graphics is not dedicated and is handled via this Intel chip.
During Windows Updates, MS ones download perfectly.

However, I also get an additional 'optional' update named: 'Intel Corporation - Display - Intel(R) HD Graphics'

This has never succeeded in downloading.
The MS explanation is always the same: possible interruption from my connection to their server...yet never any interruption when I download MS updates at exactly the same time!

After that, I get the usual 'download Mr Fix It' software which proves itself to be utterly useless in helping me find why the download is not succeeding.

I run Avast anti-virus and Zone Alarm firewall...but I can't figure out if they are somehow preventing the download.

I'd appreciate any help on this....

Many thanks

Hello, I had the unfortunate experience that my new L540 with factory installed Windows 7 64 bit professional dropped wireless connections after several minutes. This could only be correct be restarting the wireless driver. It took me about 5 hours to discover that the driver contains a known bug. I was almost at the point of returning the laptop as being defect until I found through google: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS036007 hidden on this page is the text  that the driver version there fixes the dropping of connection. None of the update software on the laptop suggested updating this driver and the above page is not so easy to find, or recognize that this is needed at first glance. After applying the above update the WLAN now works without problems. Googling reveals that I do not seem to be the only person with this problem, and the ones I found did not manage to find the solution to their problems. Rene.

Answer:Lenovo Y510p upgrade to newer Intel 7260 2x2 (BGN) Wireless Card from Intel Centrino N 2230

I just posted a response on the other Lenovo y510p Intel 7260AC forum.  In a nutshell, I bought a Lenovo part: fru 04W3814, which is a Lenovo Intel 7260AC + Bluetooth 4.0.  Lenovo initally said they would support it, and have a hardware support case number.  They told me that they would support it.  I had not heard back.  I called and was given the "we don't support upgrades" answer, although it was their own part, and they acknowledged problems with the Intel 2230 card.

What I learned, is that I was not talking to Lenovo, but a third party company who would not let me contact Lenovo directly.

Answer:Lenovo Z50-70 CANNOT UPDATE Intel WiFi adapter drivers (Intel AC 3160)

What WiFi adapter is shown in Device manager? I have been scheptical of whether the current Lenovo offerings are up to speed on Win 10 many drivers are 1st releases. They pulled the listing for drivers on the T520 and I updated that just to see what might happen although I got it working its sluggish for that system. WiFi is marginal with the MS drivers and Lenovo offers nothing for it now. I tried to search on my Z70 but I was unable to determine which adapter was specifically installed. 3 were listed in Lenovo build spec's but that still did not tell me which one is in only the family name.

After running the Lenovo system update to try and resolve some Vista/Networking issues (LAN network comes and goes) I don't have my sound working anymore. The sound driver will not install even after a complete uninstall/install of the SoundMax drivers (including the restarts in between steps). The setup fails with a generic error message and nothing in the system event logs tells why it failed.I've tried installing an older version of the driver but it didn't work. I also noticed that my fingerprint reader is not working as well.  The OS is Vista Enterprise (without SP1 because it caused too many programs to not work like Excel!!).  Anyone seen this problem or have an idea how to proceed? Even being able to run the SoundMax installer in debug mode would be helpful at this point.Message Edited by razyalov on 09-11-2008 08:42 AM

When trying to download and install "Lenovo System Update" on my IdeaCentre H320, the download stopped running at 15% finished stating that "An error occurred while downloading packages."  I retried several times and the same error message is shown repeatedly.  I am still using Windows 7 and IE11.  Any help with this matter would be most appreciative.

I spent half a day trying to figure this out. I have a IBM Thinkpad T42 and had to reformat the hard drive. And I forgot to note down the typeo of drivers that I needed! Thus, I am shooting in the dark. I am trying to find a driver for the wirless. I did downloard the Intel Wireless driver off of the Lenovo site, but when I try to install it, the Laptop will not recognize the driver. Saying that I have the wrong one. Is there a program that can give me a hardware run down of what I have? Is there a way I can figure out what kind of wireless card I have? Moderator Note; edited title.Message Edited by andyP on 06-30-2008 07:11 PM

Gents, Just want to brin to your attention a very weird issue. The system was running perfectly fine, I have ran a ThinkVantage System Update and it showed me multiple updates that I have to install. Some of the updates require reboot. After reboot, it picked up the installation process and the very last update needed was the HSPAWireless WAN Adapter software XP-Vista 32. The install keeps on failing with the messag: "The wizard has been interrupted before Ericson Wireless Module Core could be completely installed." I have shut down the WAN Adapter, tried to reboot multiple times, still no results. As the result of this update the existing drivers for Ericson WAN card has been gone and now system shows this device as unrecognizable. Did anybody else here experience the same problem??? I have been installing a number of hotfixes for Windows 7 using MSU files and the wusa.exe utility included in Windows. I thought it would be a good idea to generate separate log files for each update as it was installed since wusa.exe now supports this
option using /log:<file name>. However, the log files created do not seem to be regular text files or any other log file format that I immediately recognize. When opened in Notepad or Wordpad you can see that they contain a lot of additional binary data
which can't be read by a regular text viewer.
Does anyone know what format these log files are in? What tool should you use to read them?

This update fixes a bug in earlier version where BSOD occurs if managment engine components are deactivated.   But in order to complete the recommended update, user must first uninstall managment engine components, then install new version.   Can someone please explain then why uninstalling the management engine components in order to upgrade won't leave me with BSOD and no way to proceed?   Also, does anyone know how to determine in Windows 8.1 what version of .NET Framework is presently installed?  New version of Intel management engine components required at least version 3.5. Thanks for the help.

Answer:Avoid BSOD bug -- Lenovo Sys Update says update Intel Management Engine Components

It should be alright. Guessing wildly, but I think by "deactivated" it means deactivated in the BIOS settings. Make a restore point you can restore to just in case it goes bad.Windows 8.1 has at least .NET Framework 3.5 by default.

@All: I am going to get a new T420s in a few days and since I have never owned a TP, I have a couple of questions for more experienced users. I apologize in advance if the questions sound silly, but I am wondering whether Win Update and Lenovo System Update may get in each other's way and mess things up in the system by overwriting drivers, or do they have nothing to do with each other? Also, what about the power management settings? I hear that Lenovo is quite rich in that, so I am wondering whether these can conflict with Windows7 settings and in case which ones should I prefer and how to bypass the other ones? Thanks a zillion.

I have a Thinkpad X201 with an Intel Core i5 CPU M 480 and Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000.  I have been unsuccessful in installing the Intel Wireless Display software.  i get an error message about an unsupported platform.  If WIDI will run on my Thinkpad how do I get it installed? And if it is not supported on my configuration will changing my wireless card or CPU make it possible.

Answer:Intel Wireless Display

hi ftcastle,

Thank you for your post.
The WIDI is a relatively new technology but based on your system specs it is more than sufficient to run the WIDI. I've checked with intel and they did mentioned that only computers running :

Windows 7 64-bit*, Home Premium, Ultimate or Professional Windows 7 32-bit*, Home Premium, Ultimate, Professional or Basic

Are the only OS supported at this point in time. May I knkow which Windows version do you have currently installed on your machine.

Do let me know and i'll check further on this.

I am tninking of buying a T410 laptop, but want to be sure I can wirelessly show pictures from it on the TV.  According to Intel their "Intel Wireless Display" does this but requires the computer to have an Intel Core Processor (I would get an i7), Intel HD Graphics, Intel Centrino Advanced or Ultimate wireless card, and Windows 7 64 bit.  These I can order when I purchase the laptop. However, Intel also says that "Intel My WiFi Technology" and "Intell Wireless Display" software must be installed and enabled.  I cannot find in the Lenovo literature if this software is automatically installed when the laptop is configured as above.  Does anyone know if it is?

Hi, Currently Lenovo do not have a Windows 8.1 intel wireless display driver for the X1 Carbon, does anyone have an idea on when this will be on the driver matrix ? Thanks S

Answer:Intel Wireless Display - X1 carbon

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Windows 8.1 is totally a new approach and cannot be just considered as an update to Windows 8. Hence, the compatible drivers has to be redesigned so that they work properly in Windows 8.1. As of now, I cannot commit the exact arrival date of the missing drivers. You can expect it in a few days, maybe a week or even a month for the full and final release of all the drivers. X1 carbon has been officially tested with Windows 8.1. So hopefully, we can expect the missing drivers at the earliest.

Thanks for the patience!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Today Auto Updates gave me an update called "Intel - Display G45/G43 Express Chipset" and I installed it. The screen gave me a dialog saying I'm not set at 1600x1200 (I'm set at 1600x900 which I thought was correct). Also the system tray icon for the Intel Graphics Driver is different.

Also it said this update was published in August 2010, so why did I get it just now?

There's no usual number for this update, just a text title. From Googling I could find nothing.

Answer:Update for Intel display - why now?

I have found this informtion on the update. I agree, dont use the WU to install drivers etc. Go to the website and do it your self. Some updates are received in error others are late.

WU for "Intel Corporation - Display - Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset" driver causes black screen for quite a few people.

How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been posted somewhere but i can't find it if it has.

I have a Qosmio F750-Q10 laptop and have recently purchased a Toshiba LED Smart TV that includes the Intel Wireless Display.

I am wondering if my laptop is able to use this piece of software as I have tried downloading the software from Intel's website and attempted an install.

However, when I try to install I get the error message;
"InstallShield Aborted

This platform is not compatible with Intel Wireless Display"

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Thanks
Steve

Answer:Qosmio F750-Q10 - How to use Intel Wireless Display

Intel is the main company behind this function and they have a very nice document describing the necessary components and software to be able to set up WiDi.

You can find it here:
http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031059.htm.

So check if your notebook?s hardware meets the Intel Wireless Display requirements

I need to purchase several 2nd Gen X1 Carbon units, (4th Gen Intel Haswell Core i7 models - I'm thinking of the 20A7002WUS model) I cannot find anywhere that says that this model has Wi-Di.  (Intel Wireless Display) The wireless card in the model I'm looking at is the Intel Dual Band Wireless 7260AC and the specs of that card lists Wi-Di as being included. See here:  ark.intel.com/products/75439/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260 I do find it strange that Lenovo doesn't list Wi-Di anywhere in the specs or product details for the X1 series.  I also know that OEMs customise wireless cards all the time, often disabling certain features.  I've found other forum posts here that suggest that Lenovo has disabled Wi-Di on the Intel wireless card.  I've also found other articles and reviews in various places that suggest that Wi-Di does work but I haven't seen anything conclusive. So - in short - does the X1 Carbon Core i7 20A7 series have Intel Wireless Display?

Answer:Does the X1 Carbon have Intel Wireless Display? (Wi-Di, widi)

I tried to install Intel WiDi driver software from toshiba support pages for his Tecra w50, but installation finished with error that there is no supported graphics???

Why I get error message there is no supported graphics when I use driver from autodetected toshiba support page, and also its in specifications that notebook has Intel Wireless Dispaly?
How can I make it work?

I noticed recently that Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) was not installed on my W530, despite my recollection of installing it via Lenovo Update.  So I tried downloading the latest version both from Lenovo (3.5) and directly from Intel (4.0), but neither will install on my system.  During the install, I get a message saying "This platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi or the application is in use. Please see the log for more details."  Now, since I have an Intel i7 CPU with HD 4000 integrated graphics and an Intel wireless card (Centrino Ultimate 6300), my system meets the system requirements for WiDi.  i have also updated the Intel PROSet wireless software to the most recent version, as recommended by Intel's website.  Kaso suggested on the Notebook Review forums that this could happen if I clean installed Windows instead of booting from the Lenovo-supplied OEM image, since there may be specific registry keys or values that signify the system supports WiDi.  As i did clean-install Windows, I'm wondering if anyone knows what those specific registry keys or values might be, so I can add them in.  And if anyone has a different idea why WiDi won't install on my system, I'd appreaciate your input as well.  Thank you.

UPDATED! - 4 Nov 2012
For those that had issues with Intel WiDi - here's the FINAL ANSWER for Windows 8.

Intel has recently posted their Windows 8 WiDi info and drivers since launch:

Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) in general requires the Intel HD Graphics 15.28, Intel PROSet/Wireless 15.5 for your chipset plus the Intel My WiFi Technology 15.5 (a.k.a. MWT, or My WiFi Dashboard 15.5), plus the latest Intel Wireless Display 3.5 software. See the Intel WiDi System Requirements - all software can be obtained from the Intel Download Center.

Note: Certain versions go together as well, e.g. WiFi 15.1.1 and WiDi 3.0.13 on Win8 Preview, or the latest versions as listed on Intel Centrino WiFi Products (new) with Intel WiDi 3.5.40+ (OEM provided i.e. HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc., or latest version from Intel, in Latest Downloads section here).

Finally, there are Intel Win8 drivers for Intel PROSet/Wireless for WiFi, Bluetooth + High-Speed, and Intel WiFi/WiMAX; check the related download pages to determine which driver supports your Intel WiFi card. Also, some notebooks may require the Intel Centrino OEM drivers in order to work properly. The Intel Driver Update Utility can also be used to automatically detect and install wireless drivers and software.

More info can be obtained on the Intel Wireless Products and Windows 8 page or the Intel Wireless Display page at http://www.intel.com/go/wirelessdisplay

Not quite solved...I have a Dell XPS15 (L502X) which has the Centrino Advanced-N 6230.
There are no 15.5 drivers for this one yet, not on Dell's site and not on Intel's site. I tried installing the ones from a file called
wireless_15.5.6_e64.zip
It gave me no installation error, but the driver on the device manager shows v14.2.1.3 (after installing the ones from that zip file downloaded from Intel). Interestingly enough, if I run the online "Intel? Driver Update Utility" it says i have the latest and shows 15.5....which is strange..
With this driver, when i click on "scan for adapters on Widi" it goes directly No adapters detected...instantaneously..it doesnt even try to search. With the previous driver it at least searched...sometimes found but never connected (to a PTV2000).

Any ideas?

thanks!

Thinkpad E560, Windows 7. Windows Update's "Important" tab lists "Intel Corporation driver update for Intel HD Graphics 520" (published 12/7/2016).  Normally I avoid using Windows Update for driver updates, but this one is in the "Important" tab rather than the usual "Optional."  Yet Lenovo System Update does *not* show anything like this as an available update.  If it was really important, wouldn't Lenovo list it?  Should I install it?

Intel by a long shot. The "ThinkPad" branded card is actually a rebadged Realtek, which is just plain mediocre.Antennae are the same either way.

In what order do I download WIDI drivers and Software from Intel? I have had issues with WIDI before in win8 release preview, so instead of stumbling through it again, I'd like to get someone else's take. Any input/help is appreciated. Thanks!

Getting Intel's Wireless Display technology using the Hybrid Graphics setup has become a challenge of mine. It doesn't WORK, even with the latest recommended drivers and software installed. Disabling the Nvidia GPU or running battery saver mode (forcing the IntelHD graphics to run) still gives me the same error: "unable to send desktop to the remote display" The ONLY way to get it to work is to completely uninstall the Nvidia drivers, and running purely off the IntelHD graphics chip - with this, the WiDi works... Now, HAS ANYONE got WiDi to work using the hybrid driver mode? Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to update my Lenovo Ideapad U410's Wireless Display software mainly because of an error with the USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller that started occuring on January 1, 2013.  I have read in many different forums online that this WiDi upgrade will fix this specific error. However, after downloading the Intel Wireless Display Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) (V3.5.41.0) for my Lenovo Ideapad U410, an error occurs during the installtion every time. This error reads: InstallShield Wizard Aborted.  This platform is not compatible with Intel(R) WiDI or the application is in use.  Please see the log for more details.  Your system has not been modified.  To complete installation at another time, please close the Intel(R) WiDi application if it is running and run setup again with the compatible platform. Does anyone know how I can successfully upgrade the WiDi driver on my computer and avoid this error message? I am running Windows 8 64-bit.

I have a new X220 tablet, out of the box with all software and driver updates applied and I am getting an error when trying to start the Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) software. When I run the software I get an Intel WiDi error box with the message "Unable to load the Intel My Wifi Technology DLL file." I have uninstalled and reinstalled the intel drivers and software using both the version available from Lenovo and the latest version on the Intel web site. I get the same error for all versions of the driver and software that I have tried.  I've seen comments about similar issues on the Intel communities forum but no fix has been published. I can't find any reference to a similar issue on the lenovo community forum or knowledge base. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Has anyone been able to get the Wireless Display software to work on the X220 tablet? Thanks

hey DavidES,remove the Wireless Display software. download the version available from our support site but do not install it yet.set your windows to operate using Diagnostic mode via MSCONFIG. Once that is done, install the software while the unit is in Diagnostic mode.Check and see if the problem persist with Diagnostic mode and in normal mode.

This is just a warning to those of you who are attempting to upgrade your W520 to Windows 10.  Once you do that, you'll no longer be able to use the wireless display feature (Intel WiDi) because Intel doesn't support the Intel HD Graphics 3000 on-board graphics card in Windows 10 and thus Lenovo can't provide a driver for it.   The last supported Intel WiDi driver available through the Lenovo support site is for Windows 8. I sure hope Intel creates the necessary WiDi driver for the thousands and thousands of computers running the Intel HD Graphics 3000 on-board graphics card

Hello all, I have recently done a completely clean install of Windows 10 on my Y40-70. I am experiencing two graphics related issues: 1. The latest Intel HD Graphics Driver update breaks the display. When either updated by Windows Update, or myself from Lenovo's website (link), the update causes the screen to immediately go blank and stay that way until I go into safe mode, and disable the driver in Windows Device Manager. 2. I am unable to use the AMD graphics card (Radeon R9 M275). Currently Device Manager tells me that the driver for the device is up to date (15.200.1050.0) but Catalyst Control Manager cannot see the card, and nothing I can do will make the machine switch to that card. I have tried multiple times cleanly uninstalling all AMD everything, and reinstalling from both Lenovo's site and AMD's, to no avail. I imagine that these problems are related, but I'm not sure how. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I just purchased a Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop computerspecifically because I wanted a computer that would support WiDi (IntelWireless Display) to my HDTV. I had been under the assumption that all currentgeneration laptops included Intel Wireless Display technology.
After receiving the computer, I have just discovered thatthe wireless network card in this machine apparently does NOT support wirelessdisplay technology. Is there a way that I can replace the network card in thismachine with one that DOES support wireless display technology or at least addan additional card to the machine that supports wireless display? Or…am I stuckwith a machine that does not have the capability that I need?  Thanks for any help.

Answer:Can Inspiron 15 - N5050 Support Intel Wireless Display (WiDi)?

Hi Scott_SK,
Welcome to the Community.
To be able to use the Intel Wireless Display the system needs to have the  following minimum requirement as given in this link below :
www.intel.com/.../CS-031059.htm
Replacing the wireless card(Dell Wireless card with Intel) or adding wireless card will not help as this feature should be enabled on the system from the factory.
If your system is within 21 days from the invoice date you may returm the system for full refund and re-order a system which supports the WiDi technology.
Thank You

Looking at the link You provided, You'll find all necessary hardware listed.

CPU: You need a Intel CPU from the later Core i3, i5 or i7 series - which You don't have in your unit.
Graphics: may be ok with your current hardware.
WLAN: You have as You say, 5100AGN which is not listed as one of the necessary components.

So all in all You will not be able to run WiDi on your unit.

Sorry!

Takenote that you can't just replace the card with the same model number without complying with the indicated fru number. Doing so, will result to a error message at startup. This restriction is popularly called as the whitelist. An alternative to the desired wireless communication between your TV and your unit is to have ChromeCast. You might want to explore this since this is easier compared to the replacement of the wifi card.
