Gobi 5000 card GPS doesn't work.

Question: Gobi 5000 card GPS doesn't work.

I cannot find a GPS signal with a Gobi 5000 card, although the Gobi website plainly says the card it supposed to broadcast a GPS signal. Can anyone tell me how to do this? My software (Delorme Street Atlas USA and Microsoft Streets and Trips) each say there is no GPS device,. The software definitely finds a USB GPS device, but not the built-in Gobi GPS. The Gobi 4000 software came with GPB enabler software, but I cannot find similar software for the Gobi 5000.

Preferred Solution: Gobi 5000 card GPS doesn't work.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Gobi 5000 card GPS doesn't work.

I have the identical problem. Lenovo tech support has no idea what to ay about it. It has been suggested that my WWAN card needs to be activated with my wireless provider in case that "turns on" the GPS, but that strikes me as patently ridiculous. I have reference in Device Mgr to a Sierra Wireless Location Sensor, but it is not associated with a COM port, and no software seems able to find it. This is profoundly annoying.

Hello all, I would like to know if anyone has tried ( without hacking the bios or anything like that ) any of the other 3G modems for the lenovo S10-3t - ad does anyone know where I can purchase the " approved " 3G modems that will work ? I have done a search and can't find anything solid - I actually purchased a Qualcomm GOBI from CDW the exact same one they offer on the Lenovo site and the exact one mentioned here in these forums - and I get the unauthorized card error ! I called Lenovo for support and the gentlemen I worked with had no clue what to do quite frankly was really no help at all - I was even deferred to Quallcomm to their tech support and they pretty much said its Lenovos problem - so here I am with a 3G modem that doesn't work and before I purchase another one I want to ensure it definitely works - Any ideas ? Thanks

Answer:S10-3T Approved 3G modems ?QualComm GOBI doesn't work

It might be the same GOBI model but different Vendor ID and Product ID. I've personally seen the VID/PID of the Ericsson and Huawei modems posted in the other thread so it's safe to say that they will work with the S10-3T. However, finding where to buy those exact modems can be a problem. I would guess it will only be available at the Lenovo site soon.

Where can I buy a unlocked GOBI 5000? The only ones I see on is $200 for either the Verizon or AT&T brands.. I need one that works with T-mobile

Answer:Where to buy a unlocked GOBI 5000?

What region and network are you planing to use internet in? T-Mobile operates in 3 LTE frequency bands in the US - B2, B4, B12 (for B12 the company planned to start operating just in July 2014) and 3 bands in the EU - B3, B7, B20, in depends of the region and license type. But Gobi 5000 (Sierra Wireless em7355) supports only 2 bands of 6 above - B2 and B4.At the same time Sierra Wireless em7345 LTE card (another one card for the new line Lenovo notebooks) supports 5 bands of 6 above, except of B12. So, there are no advantages for em7355 if you are not planning to work in Sprint LTE network and 3g CDMA/EV-DO networks of US carriers.Supported frequency bands isn't a "locking" feature. It's a design, the set of components, filters. Purchase the card you need on shop.lenovo or altarnate resources.

Hi, There are two antenna wires in T440P, but three connectors on the card:1. MAIN2. GPS3. AUX It is clear that one wire goes to MAIN, but where goes the secondwire? As per installation diagramme you can do both???But what is the difference?thnaks for support !

Go to Solution.

Answer:Gobi 5000 EM7355 installation

HiPlug the red antenna cable into the jack labeled MAIN on the card, and the blue cable into the jack labeled AUX. Jack labeled GPS is for the active (!) GPS antenna, laptop hasn't it. That jack might have a voltage (depending on the internal settings), so If you'll connect any regular antenna cable, modem will be broken because of short circuit.Let me ask you: is you location Georgia in the reality? Where are you planing to use em7355 and what types of networks?

Anyone know how I can get the verizon gobi 5000 to work with my T431s on windows 7.  For some reason there is no driver for the gobi 5000 that I can find and the lenovo mobile broadband activiation software only supports AT&T.   I'm at a loss. Waited 2 months to get the gobi 5000 only to realize that the model it was built for (T431s) is not currently compatible. Would appreciate any help!

Has anyone been succesfull in getting this to work, I've got 15 laptops not one of which is working with the Gobi 5000 and Verizon.   If you have been succesful are you using Verizon Access Manager or Lenovo Access Connections?  How did you go about getting it to connect.  The furthest I've got with all my monkeying around is for Lenovo Access Connections to show Verizon but not be able to connect. Verizon's site mentions nothing of the Gobi 5000 and Lenovo's drivers dont' work,  downloading the Sierra drivers from Sierra allows the device to show in Access Connections but is still not usable.

Microsoft 5000 mouse worked fine for a month, now doesn't. Inspiron 1520, Vista Home Premium 32bit. Changed batteries. Plugged dongle in to different USB ports: get message: USB device not recognized, USB device has malfunctioned. Uninstalled drivers, reinstalled; device manager says device is working properly. Disabled, enabled. Downloaded driver IntelliPoint 8.2 32-bit for Windows Vista (EXE) from it crashes, computer crashes, never quite gets to the end. Once this morning I replugged dongle in and got "installing hardware...your device is ready to use"...and it worked for 2 minutes then stopped again and "USB device not recognized." Very frustrating. Not a bluetooth issue, right? since it's got a USB dongle...thanks for any suggestions. Can't think of anything else to try.

Answer:Microsoft 5000 Mouse doesn't work

My suspicion is either the mouse or USB dongle has gone bad.

If it's still under warranty (I think Microsoft has a 3 year warranty), I'd go to the Microsoft website and check out your RMA options.

Hope this helps.

Good morning all. I recently installed a GOBI 5000 WWAN card for AT&T into my new Thinkpad T440p. I downloaded the driver package from the appropriate Windows 8.1 matrix and the computer crashed (blue screen DRIVER_POWER_SAVE) and then restarted. The driver appears to have been installed, as the device manager shows the following entry under networking adapters: Sierra Wireless EM7355 Qualcomm GOBI 4G/LTE/HSPA+/EVDO Also, under the networking portion of the Metro style settings page, the AT&T Broadband modem shows up, and with information regarding the IMEI, IMSI, which I forwarded to AT&T, so as far as they are concered my preexisting Data plan is current with the modem's IMEI number.. Still no luck with connecting. There was mention of Lenovo Broadband Mobile Activation Utility which I found elsewhere on Lenovo's but upon lauching the installer, it says that the current card is not supported. Overall, not sure what to do to get this thing connected to Mobile Broadband, also not sure if incomplete driver installation could be the culprit. I am going to call Lenovo support to see what they can do, will update here.

Answer:T440p WWAN connection GOBI 5000

Just got off with Lenovo Tech Support. They mentioned that theThinkPad GOBI 5000 Mobile Broadband - AT&T GOBI 5000 WWAN card, Part number: 0C52886 using Sierra Wireless EM7355 - GOBI 5000 software (ghwp14ww.exe), version 3.4.1308.3909 as of 13 DEC 2013 may not be compatible with Windows 8.1 which is what I am running currently. I will check on when the updated driver package appears with compatibility for Windows 8.1 and post here, they mentioned that it should be pushed via Lenovo System Update, so I guess I will stay tuned.

Will the new AT&T Gobi 5000 work with the T530?  Not that it should matter but the innards include an i7-3520M, 16GB 1600MHz, and a 256GB 840 Pro.  I'd opt for the 5000 rather than the 4000 if I knew it was compatible.  Any advice?

Hi, my company purchased x240s and the GOBI cards separately and of course they purchased the AT&T version and we use Verizon as our carrier. Now here is the thing, even with that branding from the tech specs on the Lenovo shop portal they look exactly the same. When I install the latest drivers for the GOBI card and Lenovo Access Connections I can get it to somewhat work in the beginning and then it stops working. I tried every conceivable way to get it to work all the time but it's a hit or miss until it permanently fails and the sim I use is from an x230 that also has a GOBI card. My question is does it really make a difference if it is branded as AT&T since the GOBI card does work at some point and if it doesn't matter am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help!

I tried hooking the laptop to my TV with an HDMI and it works. The touch screen will work too. But when I take the HDMI cable out the computer screen is completely black. I've read and heard an inverter could be the problem but I'm not 100% positive and don't know where to purchase a part to fix this issue. Any suggestions help!

Has anyone got this card successfully working with Verizon?? SIM is in place and ready for activation with Verizon. When I try to use the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation tool the only options listed are ATT and Other. The other option just says to call your provider. This tool worked for us previously with the x230 and there was always a Verizon activation option. Any help much appreciated!

Answer:Verizon Activation x240 Gobi 5000 EM7355

Lenovo is aware of this issue but they don't have a solution yet. We have been dealing with this problem FOR MONTHS with both Verizon and Lenovo pointing fingers at each other. Until Lenovo fixes the problem, I would advise anyone who intends to use the Gobi 5000 card with Verizon to stay away. There are obviously problems that were not caught in QA that have lingered where our support requests were swept under the rug not acknowledging any problems. For the price you pay for these laptops, you would expect them to be working out of the gate. The X240, T440s/T440 and any laptops that use the Gobi 5000 are not ready for businesses who use Verizon and have a mobile workforce. You're better off slamming your head against the wall rather than wait for Lenovo to fix the problem.

I've noticed a couple other threads regarding the GOBI 5000 WWAN card on 2014 X1 Carbon machines, so I know I'm not the only one having issues ... I have two new X1s (both 20A7), one with a Verizon GOBI 5000 and another with an AT&T GOBI 5000. The Verizon card installs fine and works, no issues there. The AT&T card has alternately: not shown up at all in Device Manager, shown up as an "unknown" object, and now after uninstalling the driver, removing the card, rebooting, re-installing the card, etc., the driver package installs successfully, but the card shows up under ports as COM4. The description is correct - system sees it as a "Sierra Wireless EM7355 ...". Naturally, Mobile Broadband Activation doesn't see the card and so won't run. In another thread someone suggested they were able to get hold of an older driver package that successfully installed; any hope of getting a link? Or better yet, an updated current driver?

We received 2 brand new X1 Carbon (type 20A7) models and neither have been able to detect the Gobi 5000 WWAN card (Sierra Wireless EM7355, Lenovo Part# 0C52902.)  The X1 Carbon's are running the latest drivers (including BIOS update), Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1- it doesn't matter: They will not detect the WWAN card in the WWAN slot. Tried 2 different WWAN cards straight out of the box from Lenovo (these happen to be the Verizon variants, I don't have any AT&T ones handy) and it's like it doesn't even exist. Yet I can remove either Gobi 5000 card and install it into a T440s and it comes up without any issue. I've tried taking a working and activated Gobi 5000 card out of a T440s and putting it into the X1 Carbon, yet the X1 Carbon refuses to recognize the device exists in Device Manager. I spent about an hour on the phone with Lenovo tech support who ultimately told me my question was "Out of scope" and something they would not handle. The tech even agreed with my frustration that it's listed right on the **bleep** Lenovo product site: "Mobil [sic] Broadband: Sierra Wireless 7355 - Gobi 5000" and couldn't explain why A) It wasn't working orB) Why Lenovo feels a feature listed on their own marketing materials was "out of scope" for support. She also confirmed the part number is exactly the same and the T440s and the X1 Carbon use the identical part. The tech ultimately speculated that some type of magical "system board upgrade"... I have lost my cd rom windows will not acknowledge that it is there although on start up is is shown as being found. thanks for the help with the video card.

Answer:lost cd-romdrive while installing graphics card card doesn,t work right either

Welcome to the forum Ray and Julia,

Recheck all the cables and make sure they are plugged in properly.

When you install a new video card you have to remove ALL drivers for the old card.
Uninstall the drivers for the old card in Add/Remove Programs and if you don't have the option there, check in Control Panel/Device Manager and make sure there are not 2 cards showing under Display Adapters. If the old one is still showing, Highlight it and click Remove.

Uninstall the new video card drivers, restart then re-install the new drivers.

Both cards are receiving power as theirs fans are chugging along.

Try testing with some other SIM card, to see if the problem is with the SIM card itself or the phone. Or, you know, try cleaning the SIM card, or making sure there are no obstructions, etc.

I have a P20-552 (PSP26E-025E9-S4) which is about 18 months old. I recently bought a Canon digital camera (IxUS 750) with a 2GB Sandisk Ultra II SD card and the combination is working well. Although I can transfer images from the camera to my Toshiba portable using an USB cable, sometimes I would like to use the SD slot on the portable but there seems to be a problem: seconds after pressing home the SD card in the slot I get the message "Disk is not formatted - Do you want to format it now?". I reply OK but then I get the message "The disk in drive E cannot be formatted"

The card continues to work perfectly well in both my camera and in my iPaq PocketPC. The SD card slot in the Toshiba will work quite happily with the Sandisk 256MB SD card that is usually in my PDA.

Anybody has any idea why the 2GB card doesn't work in the Toshiba? Is it a question of updating a driver - I did look the other day but I couldn't find anything that to me seemed appropriate but I might well have overlooked something..

I am running XP Home (SP2) and have fully automatic updates ON. I have Norton Virus and Zone Alarm running and am not experiencing any problems with any other software/applications - at least, no problem since someone suggested vacuuming my overheating laptop a few weeks ago ;-)

Thanks, Brian.

Answer:P20-552: 2GB SD card doesn't work.

It seems that the unit doesn?t support this card.
Check your user manual. There you will find a information that this unit supports only the following SD card sizes: 8/16/32/64/128/256 and 512 MB

According to this document the 2 GB are to high.

I recently developed a problem with my PC (p4 2.8 win XP 2gb ram) where
it doesn't want to seem to work with my 6800LE anymore.

Basically what happens is that I boot it up, get as far as the logon screen
and then my screen goes black and nothing works. Not even trying to use
the keyboard to login without seeing it happen.

Things I've tried:
Used a different graphics card.
Tried it with a 7300GT and got the same problem

Tried it with a 5200FX and PC works fine!

The difference between the 5200 and both the 7300 and 6800 is that the latter
both required a power supply.

So I've tried disconnecting everything to the powersupply except the
MB, HD and the gfx card and I get the same problem.

Has anyone got any ideas on what else I can try?

Answer:X120e Gobi 2000 v Gobi 3000

I found a spec sheet for the Gobi 2000 here and the one for the Gobi 3000 here.  From looking between the two, it appears the newer 3000 model is ready for UMTS - AWS and EV-DO/CDMA ? 2100 MHz (standards which may not have been ratified when the 2000 was released), supports faster HSDPA speeds (14.4Mbps vs. 7.2Mbps) and is 2.5 grams lighter.

One day, the sound suddenly cut out. Since then, it hasn't worked. I had the same dilemma before, but then miraculously, the sound came back. The sound stayed for quite a while, a few months, then it went out again about 2 days ago. Since then, it hasn't worked.

I plugged my speakers into my phone and it worked. So the problem cannot be the speakers. I looked in my Device Manager and I can't find the driver. I tried installing the sound driver, but it tells me this:

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this Setup program."

So, my computer isn't detecting the sound card. My sound card is Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit

Btw, I'm running Windows XP

Anyone have any ideas or clues?

That is a pretty old card and nothing lasts forever. Pull the card and give is a close look; see if you find any leaking caps, burned components, etc. If it looks OK, install it in another pci slot and pw ON. See if windows finds the card.

Hello, I've been having some problems with my  graphic card.I've got a laptop XPS M1710, Vista and a Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GTXYesterday, I installed an old game ( from 2001) and after that I watched a video on in full screen.I had some graphical glitches with any moving image on my laptop ( including scrolling ). I restarted my laptop, and tried to watch the video again. After which the laptop crashed and successfully restarted, I tried to watch it again and now it wouldn't restart. It would give me the Dell loading screen with graphical glitches on it ( red lines and such ) after that the load thingie and after that instead of the windows logo, a blue screen with some info on it.So I went into safe mode, and my screen was littered with these small blue squares/blocs. Figuring it had something to do with my graphic card, I disabled that through Device manager, and managed to restart in normal mode. If I enable the card, I can't start up except in Safe Mode.So the problem is most likely my graphic card. Reason I said I installed an old game is that after that I had problems with the video, ain't sure it is connected. Could it be that the game messed up my graphic card? Is it possible my card is irrevocably damaged from a few crashes?I already did a virus scan and updated to the newest drivers. Please help me with this, cause I really don't want to buy a new card and I'd be really surprised that a few crashes could break it so... Read more

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread. I've created a new thread for your issue here. Thanks for your cooperation.

RE your issue: It would help if you told us what specific card you purchased, and what the exact symptoms are.

I recently sent out my laptop for depot service and when it returned, my SD Card reader stopped working. LED light doesn't blink, and I've tried it on two different Operating Systems. It used to work intermittently, and I had requested them to check it out. It came back and stopped working completely. Does anybody know if I could reseat it myself or something like that? Coz, I do not have the time to send it back to the depot, as I'm returning home (country) in a week. Thanks!

I have just reinstalled Windows ME on a clean 'C'drive and after a couple of days have managed to install most of the neccessary items for the computer to run OK. All except the graphics card (I think). All the written word seems OK but the pictures are only just visible. Everything is too big as well. Using 'Settings'in 'Display' in 'Control Panel' it is set at 16 colors and 640 by 480 and I can't change it. My monitor is 17inch. Also, in the Device Manager under "Display Adapters" there is a yellow '!' against "S3Inc. Trio 3D\2X 362\368 V1.00.34". and under "Other Devices" there is a large yellow question mark and also a yellow question mark against PCI Multimedia Device....PCI Multimedia Video Device....USB Device. My Graphic card disc says, Graphic Master, Accelerator, Model No 213...I hope one of you kind gentlemen can help me on this. Thanks in anticipation and please try to make any questions not too technical........

I got a computer - free - from a friend of mine that's good enough for everything I need to do.  Except, it's got really crappy on-board graphics.  How crappy, you ask?  I can't even be on a website with too much activity (and do you know how many websites sneak in ads that dance around or have little movies?) without my computer screen and everything.  (It only happens when there's a video or something similar playing - and it ALWAYS happens when there's a video or something similar playing - so I'm sure that's what it is.)So I bought a graphics card to take some of the strain off.  The computer only has PCI slots, so I was pretty limited in what I could get.  I got the NVidia GEForce FX5200.I popped it in my computer and turned it on, and the monitor doesn't get a signal.  The little "on" light stays yellow, like the computer isn't even on.  The computer itself still makes all of its usual little start-up noises, so I know the only problem is that I can't see anything.  I even tried disconnecting the monitor from the graphics card itself and reconnecting it to the regular plug-in, but still nothing.  The instructions tell me that I might have to go into my BIOS and set the graphics to "PCI."  But...there's nothing in the BIOS menu that even remotely resembles video options.  Once I take the card out of the computer, everythin... We've recently had a new graphics card installed, GeForce 220, and are having problems viewing on the TV. When we start the computer we can see it loading up, but when it finishes and gets to the desktop the screen will go blank and we can't see anything. The computer is no forced to use the VGA and we can't watch any videos, DVDs etc. The computer will not recognize the TV if we have both the TV and a monitor. We have tried other tvs/monitors and the video card is working properly so we figure it is the tv being a 720, anyone have any solutions/suggestions for me that don't involve buying a new TV? Oh we are running Vista 32bit. Thanks!

The mobo's NIC is working though. so I downloaded its latest driver:

when I launch the 'driver program', a dialog box comes up and says: "please insert wireless card then run setup again"

The card IS inserted. It was woking before I did a fresh install.

I don't know what else to do other than take the card out and smash it with a very large hammer.

Good-day to you all, I'm here with a necessity.
The necessity to find out the solution to a problem that let me dismayed.

I'm using Win XP SP 2, and short time ago, I've bought a memory card reader, those little usb.

The problem it is that, when I use it on my computer I can't copy any files, nor from the card to any folder of my hard disk, nor from any file from the hard disk to the card.
Seldom it works, and I can pass one file, but very seldom. If I want to transfer all the content of the card for example (1 gb) I can't. And when I want to see files that are in the card, it takes a long of time, just to visualize a single file, and when I want to copy it, I just can't or it takes a huge time.

I tried this device in other computers running WIN XP SP 2, and it worked out.
I have no doubts at all the that the problem is in my pc, and for sure in Win XP.
It is not unrelated to say that other USB devices, such as Mp4, or Mp3 players, etc. etc. etc. (of high speed file transferring USb 2) work well.

Not long time ago I tried installing my WIN XP SP 2, in another partition, just for trying if my WIN installation was bad or somethjng, but it doesn't work in the other WIN installation either.

I checked out the CMOS and it is all as it should be. (I mean the USB configuration) it is marked "Enabled" in all the options.

I tried connecting it in all other ports (from the front and back) but it didn't work either.

The exact error... Read more

Answer:USB card device doesn't work

Does the problem just occur on very large files?

If you open the Device Manager (run devmgmt.msc) and look under the USB tree -- is there an entry there for an "Enhanced" USB controller? If so, is it "working properly"?

You might try doing what is known as a USB "cleanup":

First set a System Restore point and test it: start > run: msconfig > Launch System Restore.

The standard approach to these problems is to remove all the USB devices in the Device Manager and let Windows reinstall them. But there is a special technique to it.

I am uploading a registry patch you will need to download, unzip and run. Confirm the merge to the registry.

It is the patch described in JohnWill's note here:

Once you have installed the patch, follow the rest of his instructions.

Note: in some cases Windows does not have the proper install path for the information files required. If the New Hardware Wizard prompts you for an install location, point it to:

This is a hidden directory, so you will need to have "show Hidden Files" enabled in Folder Options > View to see it.

I have a quick question for those who have the Gobi 3G. When you first turn on your computer does your WWAN light stay on and remain on until you log in into Windows? Since my bluetooth light and WLAN turns off immediately after going past the BIOS screen. Since there are times when I didn't log in and my battery life was pretty drained. Wondering if there's any fix or setting changes I can make? Or is this even normal? Thanks.

Answer:Gobi 3G Card powers on always at start?

Hello mate, My gobi doesn't turn on at startup. If I turn my computer off with the gobi on, the next start it will be on. But if you shut it down before turning off your laptop it shouldn't be on at startup.

HP lt4112 GOBI 4G module does not work reliably. Especially during moving (eg. in train, bus) when handover between BTS occurs quickly one after another between various types of networks (LTE, 3G, 2G) the Gobi module simply fails to function after longer or shorter amount of time. It loses connection, resets itself, turns itself into Locked state (requiring entering PIN again) or even hangs in hard such way that even turning off and on in Windows Netowrk Settings panel doesn't help, even shutting down the computer does not help and the device must be powered off through removing battery from Zbook for a couple of seconds (this means of course opening back cover, removing battery for a while and then put it back). This behaviour happens most probably due to poorly written drivers or with smaller probablity due to hardware malfunction or simply bad design of the module.I do not recommend anybody to buy HP products which are equipped by this module. HP constantly fails to produce high quality drivers for their products and its software is often buggy and not reliable.

I decided it was about time to upgrade my slow computer for games, especially since it had built in graphics.

I ordered a HIS Radeon 4670 card, based on reviews it was good for my budget and most of the reviews were positive.

First, I upgraded my slow sempron 3400+ to a 5600 x2, about the fastest cpu I can use with my motherboard with low wattage in-mind (I think it's 65 watt). This seemed to install fine, but the video card did not apparently. (unless it doesn't work with my montor?)

All I know is, I plugged the video card in the PCIE slot and get no output signal to my monitor with it. It is an older CRT monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 955df) and I never read they wouldn't work with newer cards, but I guess it's possible?

Anyway, the card doesn't have the VGA pin for my monitor, but it came with an adapter.
When I hook up the adapter there are 2 slots that it fits into and neither one will display a video signal, when I boot my computer. I tried uninstalling the built in graphics drivers and also disabling the on-board graphics in device manager. Neither one has fixed my problem. I've tried to contact customer support but there is no number on the web site except for one in China!

I noticed the fan came on on the card, but I'm still worried because XP doesn't even seem to detect it. I hope I didn't get a broken card, but if it is I need to hurry up and send it back. Any advice?

I have a GeForce 8500GT Graphics card that no longer works if I install ANY drivers available for it. Before you ask I have tried the oldest drivers possible, they do not work either! It all started from a BSOD (unfortunately I lost the minidump files in a system restore) and the following days it stopped working, the computer would freeze on the Windows starting logo of Win7. Making it seem like a OS problem. But a week later and numerous tests later it appears the card works fine without drivers, but as soon as I install any it stops working. I was wandering if there is another way of using this card?

Hey guys Mettalknight here

I recently bought a new Graphics Card (A Powercolor HD7750 Pic) this graphics card has 1 HDMI 1 VGA and 1 DVI slot. My old graphics card had the same setup so I thought no problem I will just take my 2 vga monitors and since I already have a converter it will work no problem right? Well I was wrong on that one. So my VGA monitor now works but the one that is converting from DVI to VGA doesn't. Is there any way to fix this? Do I need to go out and buy a new converter?

Thanks a lot for the help!

Answer:Got a new graphics card and now my second monitor doesn't work

The problem is that the new card is DVI only on the DVI port. Also what you are connecting with is not a converter but an adapter. An actual DVI to VGA converter can cost upwards of $100 or more, where the adapters are a couple of dollars at most.

Sounds like your old card (what was it by the way?) was intended to do VGA over the DVI port in addition to the native VGA port. Unfortuneatly there is much you can do in this regard as very few if any cards made recently do more than VGA from one port, either native or via DVI adapter.

I have recently been doing some small upgrades to my PC and just today I started hooking the Mobo and the Video card together. I just bought the video card at the store today, as the last part that I had ordered in the mail arrived yesterday. These are the specs of my comptuer:

Asus P4S800D-X (AGP 8x/4x) <a href="">Link</a>
Pentium 4 2.53 GHz 533 FSB

Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR PC3200

new Video Card (doesn't work)
VisionTek ATI Radeon x1300 AGP 8x/4x
(new video card link including the place i bought it)

Old Video card (works)
Xtasy Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4600

When I plug in the new video card, I get nothing on the screen and not even a beep from the mother board, however when I plug in the old video card, it works perfectly. Are there any known issues with these or is the video card a dud and I should return it to the store for a new one??

Thanks for all your help in advance!

EDIT: Note Support for the Video card is only available monday through friday.

+Mon #1 works fine Mon #2 Stops beyond initial part of boot. Tried new drivers plus on line tech support

Answer:1 monitor doesn't work. V/tek card w/2 mon input (vga) & dvd

Just because a graphics card has two monitor outputs, it doesn't necessarily mean it supports two monitors simultaneously. Cards which support two monitors usually have two identical output ports (eg 2 x DVI ports or 2 x VGA).On your card it's very likely that it has a VGA & a DVI port just to give the user more connectivity choices with a single monitor. For example, your monitor may have only a VGA port, or only a DVI port. That won't be a problem because your graphics card can accommodate either type. But the card isn't designed to output a signal from both ports both at the same time.

I have a Satellite P10, which has a built in SD card reader. I got Windows XP SP3 from Microsoft update a few days ago, and suddenly the card reader couldn't see any SD card larger than 128MB. It was listed in device manager with a exclamation mark by it - and didn't show up as a removable drive in My Computer. Error message was "Device cannot start - Error Code 10"

I uninstalled SP3 , and it works again. I've tracked it down to this hotfix which is included in SP3:

If I install this on it's own I get the same symptoms, and uninstalling it cures it again.

So for the time being I can't install SP3. Does anybody know if it's possible to remove a single hotfix from a service pack?

Answer:SD card doesn't work after XP SP3 install on Satellite P10

wheres the problem?? Install the SP3 and remove the KB934428 afterwards simply by going into "Add & Remove" programs and checking the box "show updates".
All Windows update-packages will be shown in the list of installed applications.

I have a D-Link DWL-520 V. E1 wireless card and want to install it in a computer running Windows XP. D-Link does not give technical support for this card but does have the driver for download on their website.
I downloaded the driver for WinXP and clicked the setup icon to install and it installed the Utility program but never produced the screen to install drivers like the manual says it should. Is anyone familiar with this and know why I can't install the driver? The utility does me no good if the driver is not installed.

I just bought a new computer from Acer, it was fitted with Nvidia's Geforce G210, since I had a 8600GT lying around, I placed it in the computer.

It worked for about a week then suddenly quit. When I hit the power button, the fans start turning, but the monitor says there's no video input.

I thought it was the 8600GT that was malfunctioning, so I fit it into my other rig, surprisingly enough, it still works.

The new Acer computer still works with onboard graphics though.

I bought the Acer M5800

Here's the link to the computer's page:

Here are the computer's specs:
Intel® G43 Express Chipset
Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8200 (2.33GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 1333 FSB)
2GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce G210
Acer said it was "Probably incompatible with the motherboard" I doubt so since it worked for a week

Hello guys,

I have a Tecra A3-106, my card reader started not reading the cards in these days.. (I have recently formatted my system using the recovery dvd) when I put my memory stick into the drive i can see the card icon on my computer but when I try to access the content, I get an error saying ''Card needs to be formatted'' and I can't do anything... When I insert a different SD card, the reader doesn't even recognise it.. (As it used to access these medias successfully before)

I tried uninstalling the device then installing automatically but no luck, tried downloading the SD Secure Module but when I try to install it, I get an error saying ''SD Secure Module.msi cannot be located'' or something like that..

Long story short, I can't use my card reader and I have also checked these cards on a different system and they are readable.

What could that be? Any troubleshooting ideas are highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Answer:Tecra A3-106 SD/MS Card Reader Doesn't work

Hi Onur

It is definitely not easy to say what is wrong there. In my opinion there is no much to do. If the slot doesn?t work properly after recovery image installation it can be some hardware problem. Installing recovery image the hardware is configured on the right way and wrong driver installation is definitely excluded.

Whet you can do is to test it with different SD cards (different manufacturers and also different capacity. I don?t know what is maximum supported capacity for SD card but it is possible the card will not be readable if you use 2 or more GB SD cards.

i have a tosiba Satelite P10-824 an I don't no why I can use Infra red and sd card reader.
I have installed the driver but i dont ni why i can use it.
When i do a sd card in not happens and i can not sent something via infra red.

Answer:Satelite P10-824: SD card reader and IrDA doesn't work

Check the device manager.
Are the mentioned devices properly recognized in the device manager or there are some yellow exclamation marks?
How did you install the OS? Form Toshiba recovery CD or manually? Did this issue appear from first day or did you install any 3rd party applications?

As you see there are many questions because nobody knows what you have done on your notebook. In my opinion the corrupted registry entries could be a reason for such issues.

I think you should try to remove the Irda and SD card reader from the device manager and after new reboot you should ?auto? search for the devices.
The drivers should refresh and it should be possible to use the devices.

Hi All

I've installed Win 7 on my TECRA M2 and everything worked fine at once ... except for one thing! The SD card reader is not recognized (worked well with XP).
Any hint please ?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Tecra M2 - Card reader doesn't work on Windows 7

Is the card reader listed in device manager with yellow exclamation mark?

Normally I would suggest that you should try the card reader driver from Windows Vista but there is no card reader driver on Vista available on the Toshiba website.

So it seems that you have to live with this issue or you try a card reader driver from another notebook?

I have a Indian Bank MasterCard World EMV Chip card with international transaction enabled. However I'm unable to use it on Microsoft Store.
It works fine on Mac Appstore, iTunes and BlackBerry AppWorld where there's no need to enter any OTP but on Microsoft Store whenever I try to purchase something then the phone launches a window in Edge browser and asks me to enter OTP.
The problem is that my card is a Chip based Signature and Pin card which doesn't use OTP authentication.
What should I do?

What should I do? Try adding your card to Paypal and link the paypal account as a preferred billing option on Alternatively you can link the card directly on, the former would be a recommended option - just in case.

Hi, I recently purchased a T400 (Type 2764) with the ATI HD 3400 graphics card and Windows XP (I don't want to run Vista).  Whenever I start my computer, however, I get a message saying that the ATI card has no driver.  I understand that Lenovo decided to not pre-install the particular driver for XP and as a result I've tried downloading the driver from both Lenovo and ATI, but neither seems to work.  Any help would be appreciated.

Go to Solution.

Answer:T400 Graphics Card Driver Doesn't work

The 2764 version of the T400 has switchable graphics. If the original preload was Vista, then switchable graphics were enabled. XP doesn't support switchable graphics, so you must choose between the Intel or ATI card. From Lenovo support doc,  MIGR-70665: For switchable graphic machines, boot into bios via F1, select config -> display and set the following parameters: Default Primary Video Device [Internal] Boot display device [Thinkpad LCD] * Graphics Device [Discrete Graphics] ** OS detection for switchable [Disable] * Change this setting to VGA or DVI if the machine will be used on a Advanced Dock** Switchable Graphics is a Windows Vista feature only. Set the Serial ATA setting from AHCI to Compatability mode (this will prevent the BSOD 0x7B error on booting the XP media. Terry

Hi guys,

I have 3 virtually identical PC's and just bought 3 new Gainward GTX 750Ti video cards for them.

The problem is that the new card type doesn't work in one of the PC's and all I get is a black screen from start up.

The PC with the problem was running a Gigabyte M61pme-S2 video card before which still works fine in that PC and the onboard video also works fine so there's something about the new card and that machine that is a problem, even though that combination is fine in the other identical PC's.

Things I've tried so far:

-I've tried the same card in other PC's and it works fine.
-I've tried putting a higher voltage PSU in the machine with the problem.
-I've tried removing the BIOS battery for a minute to reset the BIOS and also selected default factory settings
-I've tried a new video cable and new monitor
-I've tried running through all cables out of the card ie. HDMI, standard etc

I'm not sure what else to try.

Can't be a driver problem because it doesn't get to that stage.

Can someone please offer some advice on what the problem is as I doubt I can get a refund on a card that will test as working.

Many thanks,

Hi guys,
I just bought new graphic card (msi radeon hd 7850 twin frozr 2gb) and seasonic 650W power supply today.

my current specs are :

Monitor: HP 2309m (1920x1080)
Motherboard: MCP73M01H1 (Napa)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66 GHz
Memory: 4 GB PC2-6400
Graphic card: msi radeon 7850 twin frozr III oc 2gb (previous one: GT 130 768MB)
PSU: seasonic 650W (previous one: 350W)

And when I put them together and turn on the power, the monitor doesn't not detect any signal (dvi).
so I switched the dvi cable to the on-board graphic card then the monitor can display but the device manager only detects ob board graphic card.
then I put back gt 130 and it works perfectly as before.
then I tried putting 7850 back then same issue (monitor doesn't detect anything)
I can see the fans are running on 7850

Help pls?

Answer:New graphic card doesn't work (msi 7850 TFIII 2gb oc)

Hi, As you mentioned that your onboard is working fine, this rules out the possibility of faulty motherboard. Try to run your graphic card on a different machine. If the problem still persists, then i would suggest you to RMA the card, as it might be faulty peace.

Answer:Toshiba A200-1CC Card Reader doesn't work

is the Smartcard service activated in your "services"? If you don?t know what this is then Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Administration -> Services -> Smartcard

Then activate the Smartcard and enable it.

That should work, otherwise you can go to the Toshiba drivers download site and check for Cardreader drivers which should enable the whole stuff, too. But I am not sure if the modify the settings in your services...

Here?s the link to the Toshiba drivers download site:

Hi, I have recently purchased a Libretto U100 and when I put a 2GB SD card into reader the computer locked up,screen froze and had to reboot system.

I reinstalled OS XP pro SP2 from recovery disc and the SD card reader worked fine. However as soon as I updated all software to SP3 the problem returned.

Any suggestions/help is appreciated.

Answer:Libretto U100 - SD Card reader doesn't work with XP SP3

Well, SP3 causes more of the same problems or even worse. My laptop from an other manufacture gives me a BSOD after installation of SP3.

I never heard of this issue (with the SD card), but I guess it has something to do with SP3 drivers. Maybe you can download some other drivers for the cardreader form the manufacturer website?

I just intalled 2GB extra memory but when it is installed the wireless card doesnt work. When I take it out the wireless works!
The wireless card reports "device cannot start" error 10 when the mem is installed but works when the mem is removed again.
The fault replictes reliably every time I install / uninstall the mem and only started when the mem was installed

I tried the new part alone in the slot where the original part was and it works fine
( both are 2GB) but when original part put in 2nd slot - it doesnt work.

Anyone any ideas what the issue might be?

Answer:WLAN card doesn’t work with 4GB RAM on Satellite Pro U400-153

That is a really strange issue...

First I would make BIOS update so check the Toshiba European driver website for an update:

If you don?t have success with an update, try two other memory modules. Maybe they are not 100% compatible with the notebook.
