I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Having E320 (1298-3RG) with currently available driver version 6.4.1.6 from 08 Jul 2011 from Lenovo support site there seems to be incomplete mobile operator data for Finland. Specifically, my operator Saunalahti utilizes Elisa network and is actually the part of Elisa company. The problem is the current driver from Lenovo doesn't recognize SIM card automatically and manual setup offers just single possible item in the list for Finland - Elisa. Saunalahti has its own MNC (21, Elisa has MNC 05), and such manually edited connection (replacing with the right AP settings) is detected as roaming, which works but has two major issues: Every time a user has to accept roaming warning dialog before connection is actually made (Saunalahti always been on Elisa network thus the setup is NOT actually roaming)Automatical WLAN-WWAN connection switching doesn't work, probably due to roaming issue with (it just silently fails without roaming dialog).Tried with two Saunalahti SIM cards with the same result, both having unlimited data plan and working fine. BTW Toshiba has newer v.6.5.x.x drivers according to http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/.Could someone provide the hints how to fix these issues, maybe editing the driver configuration file(s) or has a link to the latest F5521gw driver that will work in pair with Lenovo Access Connections, thanks!

I have a X220 Tablet with the Ericsson F5521gw WWAN? option. It seems to connect just fine, however after 30 mins - 3 hrs, it always disconnects from the mobile network. A red cross appears in Access Connections, and the Windows 7 network icon shows that it is "connected" but there is "no internet access". It is impossible to reconnect using either Access Connections or the Windows tool. If I try, it gives me an error about not being able to find the network. If I try Fn + F5, I sometimes can turn the WWAN off but not back on, and sometimes I cannot even turn it off. None of this helps me reconnect. The only way to be able to reconnect is to shutdown + turn back on / restart / sleep + wake. One interesting thing I've noticed is that the mobile network makes a difference. Using the "3" network (which I'm on a contract for), it disconnects after 30mins - 3 hrs. However, if I swap the SIM card to a Telstra network prepay card, it can hold the connection much more reliably. I've only noticed that it dropped the connection once after about 3 hrs. On subsequent testing, leaving the computer on overnight etc, it seems to stay connected to Telstra. I've tried the following trouble shooting steps without any success:- I verified the correct orientation of the SIM card on these forums- I've uninstalled access connections / used earlier versions of the Ericsson driver- I've reimaged the computer using the Lenovo factory install DVDs- I've asked "3" for a new SIM card to... Oh no, didn't I write my WWAN-Card works cleanly after the lenovo support repaired it in my previous post?! After a long time (3-5 month) of not using it it has a strange behaviour now I cannot find out the reason for: After connecting to my broadband carrier of choice (Vodafone) the connection get disconnected after ~3 min. because the WWAN-Card (Ericsson F5521gw) becomes disabled state. But why? I could not find out a feature/setting to explain this behaviour. Sure, I installed several lenovo updates since the time the WWAN-Card worked properly and the state I got now. My dial up settings didn't change: General/Phone number:Phone number: *99# Options/Redial Options:Redial attempts: 3Time between redial attempts: 1 MinuteIdle time before hanging up: NeverIdle threshold: <disabled>Redial if line is dropped: true I don't think it's up to the dial up settings as the WWAN-Card becomes disabled after ~3min. of connection.Driver Version: 5.28.4.0 When I turn it on again by Fn-F5 it connects immediately but just till it becomes disabled again after those ~3 min. I searched the forum already but I could not find similar problems yet.UPDATE: I found a similar entry in the forum here:http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/Wireless-WAN-adapter-keeps-turnig-off-F... Any hints? Cheerskyoshiro

I got it! I reinstalled the former Mobile Broadband Drivers (Version 6.4.1.6) and everything is running fine now.  In Device Manager the modem is still listed with Driver Version: 5.28.4.0. But this seems to be okay.

Hi Im using Swedish Telenor for mobile services and have experienced stable mobile internet access with fully working VPN and outlook connectivity for years - using T63p, T510 and now T520. WLAN and Ethernet cable working fine with outlook. When on mobile internet, I have good internet access and VPN works fine, but the outlook-exchange communication doesnt work. I tried for a couple of days with another external modem (USB-connected) and everything was working well. I have installed all necessary software using Lenovo System Update. I have tried uninstalling drivers for the Ericsson modem and starting from scratch with fresh drivers from Lenovo. Nothing helps. I just got the T510 replaced becuase of other problems with high frequent sound and blue screen of death and othe peculiar behaviour - and now this. Any ideas?

Answer:Outlook-Exchange connection unstable on T520 with Ericsson F5521gw WWAN

Hi. We have the same situation. All our Lenovo T420s and X220 laptops with Ericsson F5521gw and vpn-client doesn't work ok with Outlook. They can receive mails ok, but sending mails just hang them in Outlook's outgoing folder. Only one mail manages to be send when vpn- and outlook connection has just been established, other outgoing mails may be hanging for tens of minutes and get delivered randomly one by one. Netstat -a shows that laptops connection to Exchange server's epmap port (rpc135) goes to time_wait state and in the same time pinging Exchange server replies ok. Ericsson driver is ver 6.5.1.5 and firmware R3B01. We have tested also with older Ericsson drivers and firmware. No luck. We have tested to same "F5521gw" laptops with several different usb hsdpa dongles, with wlan cards and lan cards and also with other Lenovo laptops which have built-in Qualcomm Gobi and Ericsson F3507g hsdpa-modules. With all other network connections Outlook works fine, only Ericsson F5521gw is causing us gray hair. We would really appreciate if someone has any clue how to solve this problem.  btw. Operating system is Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and our hsdpa service provider is Finish Elisa.

I'm thinking about purchasing the above 3G card (either for Lenovo X220 or L520) but haven't been able to find out whether it supports fully automatic connecting or not. That is, I would not want to use any "connection app" and click Connect etc. each time the laptop is booted, but instead just boot up the laptop and start surfing (using 3G/WWAN). Is that possible with the above card and Lenovo-provided drivers/software?

I recently bough a T420s laptop with a Ericsson F5521gw WWAN card. The GPS function seems to be working, but it is a little bit slow in finding satellites. ThinkVantage GPS program doesn't let me choose any other GPS mode than "standalone". I have checked from F5521gw's data sheet that it supports Assisted GPS (A-GPS) function. Does Lenovo support this function or is there some other possibilites to enable A-GPS?

Answer:A-GPS with Ericsson F5521gw

As far as I know, you need special software to support A-GPS.  The Lenovo software supports stand-alone mode only.  I suppose you can buy other software that uses A-GPS, but I don't know for sure.

Hi Lenovo, I tried to browse through the entries of the forum first, but it seems that you have yet failed to respond to the fact, that the build in WWAN card in some of your latest Thinkpad models, the Ericsson F5521gw only negotiates speeds of 7.2mbit despite the facts that the Ericsson card supports 21mbit and that my provider in Denmark (TDC) does support 21mbit HSDPA downloads. My thinkpad is a T420s 4174-P4G. But I am quite sure that it's not related to the specidic model. I can see that X220 users have reported this as well in Sweden on a Telia network that also supports 21mbit. Now if I take out my TDC sim card and put it into a USB-Modem such as the Huawei E372, I instantly get a 21mbit connection to the TDC network. But it's not elegant to use an external USB modem, when you purchased the top-model with a build in WWAN card that states that 21mbit is supported. I find it great pitty, that I have hardware in my super cool Thinkpad T420s that supports 21mbit, but that your driver appearantly blocks the speed to only 7.2mbit. Anybody from Lenovo who care to comment on this ? Thx Other than this I am very happy with my T420. The noisy fan issue is the biggest problem with thos model, but we are dealing with this issue in another thread.

Answer:Ericsson F5521gw 7.2mbit only

I have been using an F5521gw, in both an T420 and an X220, with two 3G ISPs (one on the 850MHz band and the other on the 900MHz band) in Australlia that support HDPA+ operation and I can achieve raw link speed connections at 21 Mbps with both of them, so whatever your issue is, its not solely with the F5521gw driver.

Does anyone know if the Ericsson F5521gw would be compatible with an X260 running Windows 10? I've got an X220 which I have been looking to replace (primarily for a higher resolution display). Neither the X260 or X1C are exactly what I want (I like the flexibility having a spare battery but would prefer NMVe if I was spending a lot of money). Therefore I am wondering, as a half-way approach, I could buy the cheapest i7 X260 and swap over my MBB adapter (I only have a 3G data contract) and 1TB Crucial M500 drive. I know I had trouble with the F5521gw on Windows 7 (there were some workarounds) but since Win 8.1 and now Win 10 I've had no problems. TIA!Simon

Hello, a first time Thinkpad user here. I'm having a problem with my new laptop, X220 (model 4290W1B). The specifications are these: i5-2520M, 4GB, X25-M (upgraded), 12.5" HD Premium LED 1366x768, Intel HD 3000, a/g/n WLAN, BT, Sec. Chip, FP, HD-Cam. I also purchased the Ericsson F5211gw module for wireless WWAN / 3g connections. The wireless network part of it is working fine, but the GPS doesn't work. The module was installed by the reseller, so I assume the antennas etc. are installed correctly. I have installed drivers for the card from Lenovo support (and system update) and installed Thinkvantage GPS utility. In device manager I have device "F5521gw Mobile Broadband GPS Port (COM5)" with an exclamation point. Device status box has this information: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". When I try to start the GPS utility it doens't start and gives this error:"The GPS NMEA COM port is not available. You need to check the following things.- Another GPS application is using the COM port.- Com port is disabled. You can enable the COM port in Device Manager" I have no other GPS applications or haven't disabled the COM port. I think there isn't any options about the GPS in BIOS (I have disabled stuff I don't need) I have tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. I also have reinstalled Windows 7 (unrelated reason) but the problem has persisted. Any assistance would be welcomed.

My assume is the card f5521gw isn't whitelisted in the newest BIOS dispite this card (even with the different p/n or FRU) is listed in the current (!) fru_bom file for the x230. Possibly it was supported in the initial BIOS versios. Currently the half sized card Ericsson h5321gw is listed in the fru_bom file.

I'd really appreciate if someone could lend me hand with this issue, I'm going a little crazy trying to fix it. The Ericsson F5521gw WAN Module is detected and installed by the OS(Win 10 64bit) and Lenovo hardware scan picks it up but Fn+F5 utility won't switch it on, I can click the button till the cows come home to no avail, the WLAN and BT switches work fine though. I have tried cycling the hardware switch a few times and making sure the WAN module is enabled in the BIOS(it is) but nothing helps. Tried installing all the latest drivers but no luck. The only thing I can think of is I updated from Win 7 64bit to Win 10 64bit, WAN worked perfectly on Win 7, can't remember ever using it successfully in Win 10, I may have though. One thing I have noticed is no matter how many times I switch BT off it switches back on with a reboot. Is there perhaps any manual method or app apart from Fn+F5 to enable the WAN?Has anyone had similar issues after a Win 10 update, if so any fix possible?

Are Lenovo Settings Dependency package from the support site and Lenovo Settings metro app from the ms store installed?5. HI all,I just bought an X220 with the following specifications:   Lenovo ThinkPad X220 4291 - Core i7 2620M / 2.7 GHz - RAM 4 GB - HDD 320 GB - - HD Graphics 3000 - 3G Mobile Broadband- no service included- Gigabit Ethernet - WLAN : 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 - TPM - 12.5" LED TFT 1366 x 768 ( WXGA ) I made a clean installation, since I switched to an SSD drive, and installed all drivers as suggested by the lenovo update tool.I also installed the wireless WAN drivers available in the lenovo support page: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-77280.html My problem is that I'm unable to stablish a WAN connection with the broadband modem. In window's device manager a device named "Ericsson F5521gw" appears as working properly, and a WAN adapter is listed as a network adapter and in the lenovo communication tool. The problem is that if I click "connect" it only lists available wifi networks, and I don't see an option or program to stablish such WAN connection. I am missing something? I notice that the PCI Express Mini Card slot is empty, so I am wondering if the modem is not really included, even if it appears as so in the specifications and it also appears as a working device.  David

Hi dvallet and welcome to the forum,

Did you turn on the radio for the adapter? Press Fn-F5 (require hotkey feature set) and turn on Wireless WAN radio.
Are you using Lenovo Access Connections? Did the WWAN work before the clean install?

If you never used it before you could download and install the Lenovo broadband connect app and try to activate.

If you find F5521gw in device manager PCI-E adapter is installed in your computer.

Hello, I have a user with an X220, running Windows 7 SP1 (x64) with Access Connections 5.84, utilising the Ericsson F5521GW WWAN card. The user is experiencing random disconnects when using the 3G and as this is a remote user, he heavily relies on this service. We have had our supplier send the user a new SIM card, in case that was faulty but this has not resolved the issue. The obvious next step would be to replace the WWAN card but again, he is a remote user and would need to come in to head office or send it in, which will not be ideal. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this issue and if so, how it was resolved. Kind RegardsBarry J. There is long discussion about that http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X220-3G-mobile-broadband-problem-with-F5521gw/... In short: the F5521gw module is buggy, Lenovo does not care, Ericsson no longer supports these modules. The only known solution is to replace it with Sierra Wireless (Gobi 3000) one.

Hello All: I can't get the GPS location feature working on my new W520 (4270-CTO).  The device did work once, the first day I had the computer (before running Microsoft Update and Lenovo Update), however, it has not worked since then. I've tried everything I can think of - removing and re-installing all the software, double-checking the BIOS, looking for device driver problems - but no luck.  When I launch the 'GPS Enabler' application, all I see is 'Satellite Acquisition in progress...".  I know the laptop can see the satellite constellation because I have a small hand-held GPS beside the laptop, and it has an excellent view of the satellites.  So does my Blackberry. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP 1 (what the computer shipped with).  I've installed the 83wo13ww driver package (nominally version 6.4.1.6, according to the readme file, but displayed as driver version 1.4.0.5 in the properties sheet of the driver when viewed via the Device Manager); the 83wa20ww Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation package ( version 4.0.0020); and the 83gp31ww ThinkVantage GPS package (version 2.72). I'm running Access Connections 5.84 (build 83c755ww), which I believe is the current release.  I have placed a SIM card in the slot in the back of the computer, and when I launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation, it shows all the appropriate information (IMEI, ICCID, etc.) for the SIM card... Just a postscript - I have found another discussion from about 18 months ago that mentions similar problems with a W500 and a T500.  One of the participants in that discussion suggested that improper assignment of COM ports might be the cause of the problem... but, if that is so, how does one go about re-assigning the two ports used by the GPS?  The picture I provided (link is above) shows that my W520 is using COM ports 10 and 11 for the GPS.  I have no idea at all how to change this port assignment. Here's the link to the prior discussion: W500 GPS Problem Regards, Michael

I have several T520's ( 4243-W2B )  running Windows 7 64 bit I can not get connected with Mobile broadband with AC. All is updated, drivers and BIOS and I have the latest version of AC ( Ver.  installed. SIM card have been tested in a T520 with Factory image, and it is running. I have reason to believe that it is something about the AcSvc account, which is causing the problem. When I have the SIM card inserted I can connect from windows without any problem, just click on the network icon in the Corner and connect to the Mobile network. I have a logged connection attempt, the first error in the log is this :ERROR AcSvc( SYSTEM(Prvlg).3156.3168) [1/7]15:46:09:124AcConfigManager::GetRegistryProperty: CM_Get_DevNode_Registry_Property() Failed forPCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0085&SUBSYS_13118086&REV_34\4&357628EE&0&00E1. Hello, I have an E220s, and have recently bought an Ericsson WWAN F5521gw module (FRU: 60Y3279).According to the manual (and judging by how the card looks), it connects to an antenna through two cables: main + auxiliary (just like the WIFI module). My laptop didn't have any such cables, beside of those already used by the WIFI module (I've opened and removed the top panel to make sure. Really no antenna cables).Just to experiment, I've disconnected the aux cable from the WIFI module and connected it to the main connection of the WWAN module (so now I have two modules, each connected only at the main connection). It worked - both connections operate properly (with a SIM card for the WWAN, of course). Is this supposed to be a satisfactory solution, or should I worry about them not being connected through the AUX as well?If they indeed need the AUX connections too, where are the WWAN antenna connectors supposed to be? Thanks in advance,Daniel

I noticed that Ericsson F5521gw WWAN module does not work after resume from standby mode. It is listed in Access Connections Fn+F5 dialog but it can not be switched on. I have the latest version of the driver (1.5.2.0), firmware (R3B01) and Access Connections (5.85). The Wireless Connection Status windows reports 'WAN adapter is not ready'. No errors in Event log. The really strange is that in Network Connection panel the 'Mobile Broadband Connection' is in Enabled state and Duration is counting ... The problem is always reproducible. Fortunately it works for hibernation at least.

Hello,i have WWAN Ericsson H5321gw with LTE sim card in my laptop:TYPE 34**-*** S/N R9-*****Will I be able to use LTE on this WWAN card or i have to completely remove and mount different one ? Coud anybody propose suitable WWAN for above type of laptop? CheersMariusz

Answer:WWAN Ericsson H5321gw

Hi,x1c gen1 (type 34xx) laptops support half (!) sized mini pci-e wwan card only. LTE card you might get (doesn't matter its model) will be definitely full sized (in case of the mini pci-e form factor) or m.2 type. So it can't be fitted into this laptop.Remove serial number from the post for your privacy

Answer:[help]Where I can Get Ericsson F3507g wwan + gps Card..?

Try ebay singapore where I live, a few fellows were selling the F3507g and 1x Gobi 2000. Whether or not they will ship to your country depends on how reliable are you and your ebay feedback ratings. What lenovo model do you have as not all cards are acceptable, especially if they are locked to certain countries.

I have a ThinkPad S430 with a WWAN card preinstalled. The machine came with Windows 7, but I've actually wiped it and installed Win 8.1 However, I never managed to get the WWAN to work. When I enter the device manager I see some random flashes / updates and occasionally a device shows under "Network adapters" called MbmLowExt.It has a yellow mark giving Code 45 "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer" and sometimes Code 10 "This device cannot start" (depending if the device is shown or not).I googled this problem for ages and found a lot if similar cases, however, none of the proposed solutions fixed my issue.I have installed the newest driver version from the Lenovo site (8.0.10.1 ? dated 20 Jun 2013 - g7wo09ww.exe). This driver should actually work without a problem ? however it doesn?t.Interestingly enough the driver details of MbmLowExt show a different version (8.0.8.5 dated 07.DEC.2012).I have also tried to upgrade the firmware using the update tool I found on the Lenovo site when looking for S430. However, the tool always failed claiming it could not find the device. I have tried a huge number of different combinations to solve this issue. Hi all, I was using my X200T with Vodafone 3G broadband fine until last week... I had a play around with the AT command set of the Ericsson card and since have been unable to connect to VF internet on any computer. Is there a way to do a hard reset on the WWAN card? If not is there any way I can send the correct credentials back to the SIM card so I can surf the net again? Thanks, James

Answer:X200T and Ericsson F3507G WWAN card

Hi James Try taking your sim card out of the PC, and place it into a 3G mobile phone, and see if you can browse a web page. You will need to configure the mobile phone internet settings (eg APN) for the Vodaphone network. I have been looking at the AT commands over the weekend and I doubt there is anything you have done to permanently change the settings on the modem that will prevent you accessing the internet. However I am not an expert with the AT commands, and I may be wrong. Is there a pin number on the sim card? Did you inadventely put a pin on the sim card when you were playing with the AT commands? You can check if there is a pin number when you place the sim card into your mobile. Hope this helps. Regards Mark

No, it doesn't work, because the H5321gw is a mPCIe module, while the T440s already uses the newer M.2 standard for the WWAN cards.

Hello All,

As we are all aware by now that we did not receive what we thought we were purchasing (GOBI) as far as mobile access is concerned (not to mention being told that the memory and SSD were upgradeable at time of purchase - before the month+ delays)...

Does anyone know EXACTLY what provider will work with the X1 Carbon's H5321gw PCIe card? I have read on various boards that AT&T is the only provider - but I find it hard to believe that Lenovo would limit this - given the current quality/service issues.

Any ideas? THANKS!

A lot of posts on this topic... Context:fresh Win7 x64 install on Thinkpad X301 4057-WBR. All downloads & drivers applied. All devices visible and working properly according to device manager. All prereqs for AT&T WWAN HSPA driver installed, except KB948278 as this is a patch for Vista - not Win7. Problem:Fn+F5 shows WIFI and BLUETOOTH but not WWAN radio. Immediately after reinstalling hotkey driver, or chipset driver, WWAN radio is visible and powered off. Pressing Power on does nothing. Press Fn+F5 again and WWAN radio is gone. Conclusion: unable to power on Ericsson F3507G device when running Win7 x64. Device was working perfectly under Vista. A patch is urgently needed - I'm sure I'm not alone on this one. Reading other posts on same topic:- BIOS reset to defaults does nothing. All ports/devices are already enabled.- Installing Ericsson MD400 modem driver which includes Wireless Manager does nothing. Device not detected. Seriously, this is the only reason I got this laptop to begin with - and now it's the only thing not working.

Hi,I purchased a n Ericsson f3507g WWAN card online and am getting a 1804 error. I have reviewed numerous posts online and just wanted to check if anyone has the "updated" BIOS for the W510 to enable the laptop to boot without checking the whitelist, or where this device has already been added to a custom BIOS?I see there are already fix's out for the W500 however nothing for the W510. Any help appreciated.

Answer:W510 1804 Unauthorised WWAN (Ericsson f3507g)

If your card doesn't carry a FRU number, i.e. is not a Lenovo part, I'm pretty sure that you'll have to do the whitelist hack to be able to use the card.

Hello, does anyone have similar problem with installation of an ericsson H5321 wwan card? The wwan card was ordered from the official lenovo dealer. The card wasn't installed when I ordered the laptop, but the card itself was delivered separately. The wwan should be on whitelist according to lenovo list, but... The problem is that bios doesn't allow the computer to startup. The bios generates an error: "1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in.... (0BDB/1926) Computer could be started only without the wwan. Answer:X230 Tablet and Ericsson H5321 wwan problem

Solution wasn't so simple... The Lenovo support changed a new Gobi 3000 wwan card. That was ok to the bios and laptop was running ok on windows 7. Everything worked well at least in Finland. So the Ericsson wwan card will not work current bios version. This is not mentioned on product catalog. The support changed this board without any costs. Windows 8 problems: Then I changed from win7 pro to win8 pro... Gobi 3000 drivers are not currently on Lenovo website, but you could find the drivers from other website. Drivers called LenovoGobi3kSetup.exe seem to be working ok on Windows 8. You'll find the link from the community to those drivers. ....but! It works until you rotate the display top of the keyboard. Then mobile broadband is disabled and there is no way to turn on this feature. Windows 8 troubleshoot says that the wwan switch is disabled and advices to enable the switch. But there is no any switch for wwan module!!! On windows 7 will work similary but you can switch wwan on when change the display rotation. Settinga are as well in FN+F5 button. But it will not work on windows 8 similary. It just disables all wifi actions. Solution for wwan switch enabling: Just install think vantage access for windows 7! It will give some errors, but ignore them. It will install finally and then you can switch wwan module again on. On my laptop this seem to be working now ok. I'm using think vantage acces only to enable the wwan modul... Read more

I have an X200T which was shipped with a Vista Business 64bit preload. The PC has a Ericsson F3507G WWAN card installed. Under Windows Vista I can successfuly connect to the internet with Virgin Mobile Broadband. I have recently upgraded the system to Windows 7, and have installed the Windows 7 drivers for the Ericsson F3507G, along with version 5.42 of Lenovo Access Connections, and the required Power Manager software and the Hot Key drivers. Access connections can sucessfully detect the WWAN card, and it can pick up the 3G Mobile Network (it picks the network up as "Yes Optus" rather then "Virgin Mobile"). However when I attempt to connect to the Network, I get an error stating the service provider cannot be found. All my network settings such as APN are correct. I tried removing the Windows 7 drivers, and replaced them with the Windows Vista Drivers. When the Windows Vista Drivers are used, Access Connections picks up the mobile network as "Virgin Mobile", and I can sucessfully establish a connection to internet. Just to note Virgin Mobile uses the Optus Network in Australia. I have come to the conclusion there is something wrong with the Windows 7 drivers for the Ericsson F3507G device, or there is some obscure setting which needs to be changed. Does anyone else have a similar experience, or can offer and further insight into this problem? Regards Mark

Answer:Windows 7 Ericsson F3507G WWAN Driver Problems

Yes, had exact same problem, found another email thread suggesting installing older WWAN driver http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7uwc47ww.exe which fixed it, but it was a pain, had to uninstall the newer WWAN driver, plug into internet by cable (so nothing running with access connections), install (with the cable-connected internet so it could download driver) and now it is running I hope somebody can tell lenovo to fix this stuff!!! (Here is the messages which got me going:  http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/X_Series_Tablet_ThinkPads/message-id/6684 )

Answer:ThinkPad Edge S430 WWAN: Ericsson F3507G?

Hey there CharlyAR,

Looking over some different specs and resources I found that specific modem you were looking may have been found on some models, like SL300, W500,T400, X200. It is important to note that some BIOS versions have whitelist restrictions of WWAN cards may work with the machine. Currently, the following two cards are compatible with S430.

According to the PSRef for the S430, it was offered with the option for the following WWAN card:

Wireless WAN, Ericsson H5321gw Mobile Broadband Module, PCIe Half Mini Card, GPRS/WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+, ...

An additional option for you may be the ThinkPad GOBI 3000 PCI-e WWAN card, Lenovo Part Number 60Y3257.

Both of these options should work and be compatble with your S430. Good Luck and hope this helps you.

Hi, We use our own customized images, which we setup using sysprep, therefore all drivers need to be installed unatended. Unusually for Lenovo I couldn't find any instructions to install this device unatended. By running msiexec /a setup32.exe I managed to extract the drivers from the install pack. However if they are installed unattended I always get a code 10 error in device manager. I checked the driver files and they are the same that I would get with an interactive install. The error does not appear if I install the drivers interactively. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a T400 with an Ericsson WWAN card and AT&T Wireless service.  I'm using the AT&T Connection Manager dial client.  I'm using the latest drivers off the Lenovo support site (Package Version: 1.0.1046.221 | Driver Version: 4.50.6.0).  The ride is less than smooth.  I sit in the same place every day, but the experience varies.  I sometimes get a 2G connection, sometimes 3G and sometimes it will switch between the two during a session.  I have session drops and connection failures:633 (drivers for your wireless device are not functioning properly or some other program is locking the device) 634 (unexpected error has occurred while connecting to a GSM network)Various PPP failures I'm usually able to resolve the connection errors by toggling disable / enable on the card, the modem or both, but sometimes a re-boot (with a little SIM card jiggling) is req'd to re-connection.  Naturally, when I call AT&T, they say all is well on their network and the base station I'm hanging off of. All in all, less than stellar and can be a real productivity drain.  If anyone is having (or, better yet, has had) issues like this and may have some tips, love to hear about them.

Answer:T400 + Ericsson F3507g WWAN Card + AT&T = Kinda Flakey

I have quite a bit of issues also with the Ericsson WWAN card. Oddly, it was attributed to my display. It seemed that my display was on a refresh rate of 50Hz and changing the frequency to 60Hz resolved most of my issues. I have no idea how they were related but somehow it affects the WWAN connection in some way.

When I got my X1 carbon, I immidiatly did a clean windows 8 install on it and created a dual boot setup with linux debian. I was able to use the wwan mobile connection stuff without much trouble in Debian. BUT in windows everything I tried failed!! so I just gave up back then... Today I tried to install the firmware and drivers again, and this time with success!I did following:STEP 1 (uninstalling and terminating):First I ensured that everything related to the wwan driver/firmware was uninstalled with the uninstall thingy from control panel. Then I opened the device manager and right clicked on the wierd Mbt#2 (or something like that) then choose "uninstall". After that, I uninstalled all "Unkown" devices (such that there were no unkown or other wierd devices with warnings left). Then I opened task manager and closed everthing related to the driver installation. For example: the "g7wq12ww.exe" was still running from my previous attempt, even though it should not. Furthermore the firmware updater was running even though it should have been terminated long time ago after my previous attempt, -so I also closed that.... I just bought a Ericsson H5321GW 3G card for my Lenovo Carbon X1 (3444-2HU).But I seem to miss the two cables, AUX and MAIN, to connect the card with.Any ideas what my next step is? Buy these two cables myself? And ones bought, how/where to connect them to? I add a picture of the actual WWAN card with the motherboard: CLICK for the IMAGE (opens in new tab) Of course I first checked the documentation on how install the WWAN card, but there it seems like the cables are already there.. Any help would be really welcome. Thanks and have a great weekend all!

Your X1 doesn't have an antenna for wwan. It can be installed afterwards, but it is not just a piece of cake.

I've got the Ericsson F3507g WWAN card, latest bios, and latest drivers all installed, but whenever I install the f3507g card (and I've quadruple checked that its physically installed corretcly/etc), it goes into a "device plugged in, unplugged" loop. What I mean is you can hear Vista play the sound of "device plugged in" shortly followed by a "device unplugged sound". Device manager also goes spaz, showing the device for barely a second before it unplugs itself. When it does show up, it correclty shows up as an Ericsson f3507g card, but doesn't last long enough for any software to actually do anything with it. any ideas?(Vista x64, Ultimate w/sp2, all drivers/etc up to date using TVSU, 3g sim card also inserted)

Answer:T400 + Ericsson F3507g WWAN Card Device unplugged loop?

There are several Mini-PCI Express slots in the system, so make sure you've got the card in the right one.
Should be in the one on the left of the system under the silver little tray thing that flips up.

You can check it in the Hardware Maintenance Manual.

You can also try reloading the BIOS settings (In the BIOS, F9, then F10) and see if that helps.

Hi guys A colleague at work has asked me to look at his Thinkpad Edge E330, which he's upgraded to Windows 8. I've been able to get everything working fine except for the mobile broadband, and I was wondering if I was just doing something silly or if the current Windows 8 driver supplied is just a bit dodgy? The Windows 8 driver installs without issue, and takes care of the device in the Device Manager. The Mobile Broadband option shows up in the Network Connections list too although it's set to Off with no option to switch it on. In the PC Settings app it's also present and set to Off, and the slider to turn it on is present but greyed out. Curiously the GPS function ere works perfectly. After installing the driver I updated the WWAN firmware too, but this had no apparent effect. Is anyone aware of a solution to this issue, or is it just a matter of waiting for a new driver? Thanks for your help!

The WWAN was working perfectly with Win7 before the Win10 upgrade. Afterwards, none of the Ericsson driver versions work. I tried removing anything related to the drivers and reinstalling, but no luck with installing. The "USB controller" and "geolocation sensor" drivers seem to install fine, but the network driver just repeatedly states that it can't find the right driver. From what I know, the INF files seem to be missing the right IDs. The problem seems similar to: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/no-mobile-broadband-on-x1-after-update-to-Win... Tried the firmware utility, but it also gives an Initialization failed error and stops. Any ideas? Compatibility settings won't help. Also lost the Fn+F5 switching capability, now it just goes straight into aeroplane mode. Even after upgrading the Hotkey features it doesn't work right while all the other keys do what they're supposed to... (edited driver information specifics)

Answer:W530: Problem with Ericsson H5321gw & hotkeys after upgrading Win7 to Win10

Ok, I'll reply myself. It took a whlie to figure it out and now it has worked for a whlie. It seems there are some general issues in Windows 10 broadband support and how the new activity center or connection selector works. I still had the original hard drive with Windows 7 installed so I booted from it and installed the H5321 gw firmware update. It mentions only Windows 8 and 8.1 but it worked fine. Afterwards booting to Windows 10, with the Win10 driver already installed, it just worked. So, it is a firmware quirk after all. The upgrade didn't work from Win10, it only showed "initialization failed" even if started in compatibility mode. Now also GPS seems to be correctly installed and Maps found the location when I was outside. I just can't find a program to show the actual coordinates to really prove it working. After successful driver installation I had a number of problems with the WWAN connection itself. Probably because of all the trying and playing around with the drivers involved. In the end, it always showed the operator and signal strength but wouldn't connect. When I uninstalled the Lenovo drivers, it immediately connected even though it showed an exclamation mark in the device manager. Booting an reinstalling the driver set seems to have fixed it for now. The missing "good old Fn+F5 featurity" is bugging me as the Windows 10 seems to be buggy in itself and haven't found a shortcut for the menu yet. As a matter of fact the activi... Read more

Hello everybody. I live in South Africa. We have a budding LTE network. I purchased a Sierra Air Prime MC7710 WWAN card. Mainly for it's supported frequency ranges on 3G and partially for its LTE support. It is not whitelisted in the BIOS (2.50). There has been an upgrade to the T430, X230 etc. in January 2013, to whitelist this card see:  http://support.lenovo.com/es_BO/detail.page?DocID=UM015721 . It is used a lot in Europe - same frequency ranges as in South Africa. Currently, short of buying an outdated Ericsson cad I have no way to get internal WWAN on this notebook. Real pity since it's brilliant in all other regards. My question to the board and Lenovo support is if there is any likelyhood of this card being whitelisted in a BIOS update not too far down the line, or if I have to resort to the BIOS hacks which essentially bypass the whitelist checking. I can probably do the BIOS mod, albeit fairly risky from what I gather. It's also my main and only workmachine, so I can't really afford downtime if I mess it up. Are there other W530 users which need this card? Maybe collectively bringing it to the attention of Lenovo might get things moving. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks,Malte

Answer:W530 with MC7710 WWAN

Hi Malte, I have the same problem or doubt with my T420s. On http://www.lenovoquickpick.com/ I find that the Sierra MC7700 and 7750 are available from Lenovo, so I guess they are whitelisterd. But for Europe I need the MC7710. And this link http://support.lenovo.com/es_BO/detail.page?DocID=UM015721 confirms that for the W530 the MC7710 is not approved, because it is not in. But the T420s is not in the list of laptops anyway, only the successor T430s and for this one the link shows that the MC7710 is suited. Anyway, your call to Lenovo to make sure the MC7710 works for the W530 I would like to endorse. If in this action the can also give the T420s a glance, that would help me greatly of course. Any news or support info is welcomed. Regards, Francine Lenovo Thinkpad T420s 4174PEG with SAMSUNG PRO 840 SSD, 16Gb Kingston DDR memory

I have constructed a number of programs using c++ and C++ compiler on my 32-bit Dell PC. None of these programs will run on my new 64-bit computer from HP. How can I salvage my work? Can programs be translated(?), can a new compatible compiler be purchased or downloaded? Just what can be done.Your comment &advice will be [email protected]

Answer:Compatibily of c++ v.3.0 with 64-bit processor

First of all the warning message issued by MS Virtual PC is for Microsoft maintenance policies only and I am sure it can be ignored with no consequences. I guided to the same installation a college student running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. So I am surprised you faced troubles forcing the installation process to go ahead. If you wish, contact me by a private message with your e-mail address and I will send you the instructions I wrote for that student.Another virtual machine you can install without any restriction is the open source VirtualBox (obviously free). VirtualBox is even better than MS Virtual PC but lacks sharing facilities for DOS guest environment that can be connected to the host OS only via virtual LAN or using disk images.

I live in England and take a trip to America every year in summer for 2-3 months to visit my girlfriend who currently lives over there. I am thinking about purchasing some computer parts (not the case or psu) while I am over there as it would save me alot of money.

I am currently trying to find out if there would be any compatibility issues between US and UK hardware. I am pretty sure they all use the same standards and everything is interchangable as they are identical components but I want to make sure before I go buying anything.

If anyone knows or could give me some insight into this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I cannot however find in the graphics card information whether this is the case or not. I tried to obtain this information from ASUS support, but I had not a reply until now.
Has anyone assembled these two boards together? Are they compatible?

my brother needs a new computer so i'm building him one. he doesn't do gaming or anything. maybe the occasional dvd, music and general word processing etc. suggestions?

crucial 512 pc2700 memory
XFX mx4000 64mb video card
sony black cd-rw
sony black dvd-rom
Maxtor 80gb UDMA133 diamond max +9

by my noob skills i figure it'll all fit together and is decent enough for him. can anyone see any problems with it?

Answer:Seagate Hardrive compatibily

First of all, the drive you're looking at is SATA and T43 requires PATA.  Secondly, ANY Seagate drive will trigger the error. The only non-OEM drives that don't trigger the error are Fujitsus, available in 100, 120 and 160GB/5400rpm format. Hope this helps.

I have purchased 2 x 1GB DDRII 800MHz modules and only one module can be inserted in either slot at any one time. As soon as both modules are inserted the laptop beeps indicating a memory error. I custom ordered my X200 and it got delivered yesterday. When you go to the X200 customizing, it already shows that it comes with AT&T 3G. Anyways, I call tech support yesterday, and they were useless. They couldn't even find my order in the system. I was on the train, so I couldn't open the keyboard at the moment, but I did when I got home and didnt see any WWAN card, but I wasn't exactly sure of what i was looking for. Anyways, the box it came in has the configuration on the outside. I took a pic with my iPhone, so its crap - no macro settings - but if you can somehow read the blur, the 3rd option down is AT&T 3G. There is also "WWAN Misc Part", "WWAN Misc Parts", and "ATT Option". So I'm assuming it comes with the built in hardware. It came with an AT&T 3G sim card already in the machine.  However, the machine isn't detecting the hardware. FN+F5 only shows wifi & bluetooth. I go into the bios, and I don't see a WWAN option anywhere. I read somewhere that one guy had to update his bios to get it to show/work. I'm assuming my bios would already be updated though. Did they just not install the hardware?  I figured I would get better support here before calling them again

Answer:X200 & AT&T 3G WWAN...Not detecting wwan

I have an X200 with AT&T WWAN and it works fine. A couple of things to check: My configuration shows = 42X6331 L1 WWAN Intg AT&T (3G); 42V8251 L1 COPT AT&T USA; 43Y3864 L! COPT WWAN MiscPartsIn the Thinkvantage - Mobile Broadband Connect - you should get a screen that has a "sign up" button and a "close" button. With the wireless power switch "on" (switch on left side of laptop) click the "signup" button. It will check the status of your card. If you have not signed up for service, it will NOT show you any signal strength, you must sign up for the service and the network has to put the ESN (Electronic Serial Number) of your card into the system for it to work. Do not try and use the AT&T Communications Manager software because it will not work with the Ericsson radio in the laptop. Just my experience.

Answer:X61s-non WWAN upgrade to WWAN

It really depends on if your system has antennas for WAN.  If so, there will be two wires that look like the ones plugged into the wireless LAN card except they will be marked one red and one blue.  If you have them, you can look in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the part numbers of the cards for this system.

Hi,Yesterday I've installed F5521GW modem into my x220t and after downloading some drivers found on forum it worked fine. Then I decided to do autoupdate, it found some drivers related to WWAN adapter (GPS, "Lenovo Mobile access" and I guess few more) and now I'm stuck to like few minutes (around three?) of internet and after that wireless WAN radio turns off, just like an unused WiFi card. It happens every time, when connection is made and is obviously in use too.  I've turned off "Turn mobile radio off when disconnected" in Access connection, moreover when WAN card turns off while using Access connection it hangs. I'm connecting using Windows Network and sharing center, "Mobile broadband" application leads me only to some kind of activation (but I have a working, activated service...) and nothing more, and "Lenovo mobile Access" gives me some registration page, I guess for some kind of Lenovo branded internet provider, plus some tray icon saying that no mobile broadband is detected How to get rid of this automatic WAN card shutdown? It worked great until I decided to do an update...

Every several hours the connection drops, and without disabling and re-enabling the 3G mobile broadband F5521gw in Device Manager I am unable to re-connect.I have tried different network operators in different areas, all the same problem regardless of signal strength.Do I have a faulty modem?I tried to install the latest driver from Lenovo but that doesn't seem to affect the driver version of the modem at all.Any suggestions?

Hello all, I'm having a lot of trouble with my WWAN module F5521gw: although the card connects just fine to the provider (T-mobile Germany) via "Access connection" (IP and everything is assigned just fine), no traffic is going through that device! Whenever i unplug my network cable and disable WLAN, no internet connectivity is available anymore, although the WWAN is up, running and connected. As soon as i try to ping anything or open a web page in the browser - nothing happens. --> What can I do? I am really desparate, as i have no idea on what to do... Thanks for any hints! Regards,Frank

In device manager I see the F5521gw drivers are installed for device ?F5521gw Mobile Broadband GPS Port?. In windows 7 under ?Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Location and Other Sensors? I see the sensor F5521gw is enabled. Under ?Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Location and Other Sensors\User Settings? everyone is selected as able to access the sensor. In BIOS every I/0 peripheral is set to ?Enabled?. I have not installed any Lenovo software for the GPS as I don?t see why I would need it. It is enough that the driver is working. PROBLEM: Garmin Mobile PC reports the e36wgps0 on COMP4 as working but cannot find any satellites. I tried his outdoor, without any success. QUESTION: what am I missing? What can I do to make Garmin detect satellites?

You say you don't want to use Lenovo GPS Enabler application. But how do you turn on/off GPS receiver in modem? This is one of the function of that s/w prior of getting fix data..

Hello! I would like to know if modem DELL 5550 2XGNJ will work with my Lenovo Think Pad w520. I know that I have free PCIe slot also an antenna but I mean from the software site. There are some modems based on Ericsson F5521GW but branded by Lenovo which will definitely work but what about DELL model? What is more I found drivers for F5521GW but I think it is for Lenovo ThinkPad Mobile Broadband Global Ericsson F5521gw 0A36186 which is 2 times more expensive then DELL model... Please write answers if you are sure, because I know that 'it might work', or you must check  GreetingsDamian Turczy?ski

Hi, I have a problem with my F5521GW Broadband modem on a Lenovo X220T after completing all the current update. It was working perfectly until yesterday when I used the Lenovo Software Update utility to run all the updates (there was about 22 in total) and after I rebooted, the Broadband module doesn't want to connect to the Service providers anymore. It is still properly listed without errors in the Windows Hardware devices (Modem Driver: Ericson AB, 2011/04/13 Version 5.28.4.0) (Network Driver: Ericcson, 2011/08/12, 1.5.2.0).When I use the Access Connections Utility (Version:5.93 Build G1C51WW) and set it to Mobile Broadband on the "Connect to the Internet" tab, it does detect the Service provider I use. It shows the tower Icon with Vodacom-SA. In the past I could click on that icon and then click connect and I was online. I also had a Location profile setup for Vodacom and that also worked.  Now when I try and use any of these connection methods it doesn't connect (Error message: Connection Failed). I click on the Help Me Fix This button and on the Diagnostic window I get error code 043.  I then click the repair button where it is supposed to find the service provider again, but then it doesn't find any providers anymore. When I close the Diagnostic screen and go back to the "Connect to the Internet" tab, the Vodacom-Sa Icon is still there. I tried to click on the "Find Now" button and it gives no errors and still reports Vodacom-sa I re-d... Read more

Answer:Lenovo X220T with F5521GW can't connect to the internet after upgrades

Ok, This is strange,I have rebooted a couple of times, And had no luck.I tried a Vodacom USB Dongle Last night and after that it still didn't work, But I did see a post somewhere that someone mentioned that the Vodacom software might cause issues, so uninstalled it. Deleted the Vodacom Device in the Device manager. Just remember to enable "Show hidden devices" if you don't find it.There after, no luck.So i tried to reboot again and just check the BIOS out , for new settings or anything that might have changed, There was nothing new. (BTW this was the first time that I went into the BIOS, since it was updated). I Just saved and exited.Booted Windows again and tried the connect. Less than a minute and I was connected again.I will keep this open for now, and if it keeps working after another reboot, i will flag this as resolved.

Answer:T420s F5521GW not connecting to Mobile Broadband, Drivers OK, Windows 10

Dear nchow,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Since lenovo did not test or release the compatible windows 10 drivers for the T420s, My advice to you is to go back to the previous windows and check if the Mobile Broadband will work well or not.

Joseph

Hi there guys, You've pushed out a 7.1.1.0 driver update for the F5521gw card for the T430 but haven't updated the T420 systems for the same card. The drivers from the T430 work on my T420s so out of interest why hasn't there been an update for us guys ? Be nice to think we weren't being left behind, we aren't even barely a generation old yet !

if you have problems with your games try

1, DONT INSTALL IT in "Programs Files or (86)" directory

2, Create one folder and give it ALL PRIVILEGIES for ALL USERS, example

D:\games\myGamesXXXX

so, C:\Games will have ALL PRIVILEGIES (Total Access) for user ALL

3, in EXE from your game use COMPATIBILITY WINDOWS 7 and ADMIN USER for default

4, use MS tool MKLINK to create one symbolic link to your SAVE FOLDER, example

USE ALWAYS ADMIN TO MKLINK COMMAND

create one new folder to redirect new saves, example

D:\mySaveGamesNewFolder\GameXXXX"

go to save folder actual

use cd C:\users\xxxxx\gameXXXX\folderSaveActual

IMPORTANT!
now copy your saves files to new place and delete o old folder of the game (normally, in C:\users\xxxxx\gameXXXX\folderSaveActual

then DELETE just "folderSaveActual"

now type the command MKLINK

mklink /d /j "folderSaveActual" "D:\mySaveGamesNewFolder\GameXXXX"

Its ready! now your game will save in new place as if was original place

NOTE: The games use many others folder to store info, then do it as above

Hello, we've got two laptops (Thinkpad W540 & Thinkpad X230 Tablet) with Ericsson FW5521GW WWAN modules installed (Sim cards in each inserted as well). However, none of the laptops manages to get a GPS fix at all after activation of GPS in the GPS Enabler. Also additional tests with COM communication protocol from Visual Studio C# libraries does not yield any answer by the GPS module. Both machines run Windows 7 Professional and are members of a Windows 2008R2 Standard & Windows 2012 Server Standard domain network. The GPS is activated under Sensors.Latest drivers for the FW5521GW [7.2.5.0] are installed.Latest version of GPS Enabler [V2.8 - G1GP11WW] is installed. Both machines have lastest Lenovo & Windows updates running. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks for reading

Hello I bought a Sony Ericsson w380 from Tesco last year - it was of course supplied with a Tesco Sim card, for pay as you go. If I want to switch to another provider, will the phone accept this or is it likely to be "locked" - not even sure what that term means, and if so what are my options? I do not need to keep the same number. Thanks!

Answer:New Sim for my Sony Ericsson?

If you have topped up more than 30 tesco will unlock it for free, just talk to them.
