W510: password manager will not fill the "user name" section of my gmail login in IE10 and Chrome

Question: W510: password manager will not fill the "user name" section of my gmail login in IE10 and Chrome

I have a W510, Win 7 pro, 64 I find that Lenovo password manager will not fill the "user name" section of my gmail login in IE10 and Chrome (it only fills the password section and I have to manually enter gnail user name). In firefox it fills both the user and pass of the gmail - so no problem here. Any thoughts how I might be able to fix this problem in IE and Chrome?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Help please. a person in our office selected to have vista remember their login and password to autofill, enter and run our office management software. How do I turn this off?

Answer:Auto fill and run login and password problem

Hello Eyeballs,

Do you mean to auto log on at the startup of Vista? If so, then this tutorial can help.

Logon Automatically

If you meant just for the program, then it would depend on the program and it's settings to.

Hope this helps some,

gang this one bugging me; IE10 on 64 bit Win 8, oem'd via HP.
Checking the Content tab of IE settings, it SHOULD be remembering logins/passwords, but in fact is hit/miss.
for instance: as long as I do not logout but merely close IE, the login will persist so that by hitting the link again I go straight to the inbox, not to the filled-in credentials login screen.
however with a couple of other accounts, no matter how I exit, once the browser is closed, the credential info seems to be lost, or unapplied. its as though I'm doing a first-time login.

anyone know what's going on here?

thx

I have Windows 7, my email provider is Gmail and I have both Firefox and I.E. - latest versions. I have had Gmail for years and somehow in the beginning I set it up so that when I went to log in, my user name and password were already entered. All I had to do is click on Log In and I was in my Gmail. Suddenly & mysteriously those fields are now blank I must now manually enter my user name and password in both Firefox & I.E. How can I "fix" this problem & get back to keeping my user name & password pre-entered as I had it originally? Any and all advise will be much appreciated. wilemar

Answer:Solved: Setting Gmail user name and password to stay logged in.

Your gmail cookie may be corrupted. If you delete that particular cookie (possible in IE9) or all cookies, the problem may be solved.

Hope this is the proper forum.
I'm having a few problems (symptoms) of a login in problem. The good news - I no longer need a password when W8 'wakes up.' But I still need a password (PIN) on startup. That I want to eliminate.
But that's not all. I've found 3 different ways to remove the password. None work. I've found I can reset my password but I nee my email address and Microsoft Account (apparently a number) which I don't know and don't see it in my documentation.
I'm using (rather, trying to) Syncback as my backup app. When I create a schedule for a run, I get a prompt for my Windows password. I enter my login password but get an "incorrect password" prompt. It is NOT the incorrect password.
Are all these symptoms of one problem? How do I find/remove my W8 password?

Answer:user Login password

Hello Alias, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The tutorial below can help show you how to have Windows 8 sign in to a user account of your choice automatically at startup.

Log On User Account Automatically at Windows 8 Startup

The password for your Microsoft account will be the same as for the email account used for it. You cannot remove a password for a Microsoft account, but you can change or reset it if needed.

Hi guys,

I'm just curious what is in your mind the best secured or the lesser evil password manager that can be used with chrome.

As I'm using mostly Chrome OS, I'm looking for a password manager that does not need to install anything on the target PC.

I'm using Sticky Password Manager now and while it's good, it requires me to install it's based software on a targeted PC in order for it to be used. That cannot work on a Chromebook which I used often.

And given that Lastpass had been compromised multiple times, could I still trust them with my data as they're still being rated as the top choice as a recommended password manager?

Many thanks.

P.S. Apologized if it's not in a correct forum.

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager". However, some sites ask me annually or half-annually to change the password. But it is not replaced in the "Password Manager", it keeps the old password, and when I try to open that site, the old password is embedded, have to change it manually. Chrome does not open a pop-up window asking if to save the password, as it has one saved.
In the "Password Manager" cannot do any editing.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Answer:Password Manager in Google Chrome

I believe you must delete the saved password and then chrome should ask to save the new password the next time you log in.

Or set chrome to never save passwords and use a better password manager like LastPass.

I was looking at using the LastPass password manager to keep track of all my passwords, but they seem to have gotten hacked awhile back

I use Google products all the time (just about everything but Chrome) and was wondering if someone could tell me what their built-in password manager is like? Are your passwords encrypted and do your passwords auto-fill on webpages?

Answer:Chrome built-in password manager

Rule of the thumb for better security is "do not save passwords".

Yes Chrome encrypts the passwords. But not the usernames. The encryption is done using Windows API. It makes sure that only Windows user who saved the password can view them. A hacker who steals your password database cannot decrypt them. On Linux machines, encryption is done using Gnome keyring.

Yes Chrome also has auto-fill feature.

My father has a laptop that he received from his work. My father works at a high school and the school is currently closed for the summer vacation. It has been working for the last few months but suddenly, a few days ago, when he types in his password, he gets the message that his username or password are incorrect.

I have tried starting it up on safe mode, but it is still asking for his login and it is still incorrect. How to add the Kaspersky Password Manager 8.0 (Windows) extension to Google Chrome

Unfortunately, the extension on that list is different than the one I had 10 days ago (had to re-install). Does anyone know where I can get the updated (if there is one) extension? The one I had before was more polished looking than this one (chrome icon matched the look of the KPM tray icon).

I have noticed of late - lets say the last few weeks at least, that hi-def 1080p [possibly 720p also] 'tubes played via Chrome are laggy - choppy where in the past the exact same had been like butter. I had wondered if something about my internal lan was deteriorating but running speedtest I'm actually getting excellent full-throttle everywhere.

I had just reinstalled fresh 7 Ulti x64 on my lab mule, and installed IE10 as I have done on my carry weapon [thinkpad]... I thought I'd test such things on my big screen 46" Sony. via Chrome 23.0.1271.95 pulled up a youtube link I'm very familiar with, flipped on fullscreen and 1080p and let it rip. choppy... to me it appeared that the network couldn't keep up so I did the standard trick of halting and backing the vid to let the buffer gain some headroom. visually it looked like this was having no effect.
So I stopped all that, shutdown chrome, opened IE10 and did the same vid there.
Voila' - the vid played silky smooth and the visual buffer indication was running well ahead of the frames.

I'm wondering if, in order to constrain explosive growth in bandwidth-demand at Youtube, if Google slipped a throttling function into Chrome specifically to constrain bandwidth on their property?

anyone know?

Answer:IE10 Beats Chrome: Is Chrome throttling Youtube??

I have seen this fix for what you are complaining of several times. Basically Chrome has it's own flash, and you have flash installed on your system. Have a look:

Hello,

I'm having an issue that's preventing me from logging into my Lenovo Thinkpad T410 with Windows 10. Previously you could swipe your finger on the fingerprint scanner to both turn the computer on, and login. Since the Windows 10 upgrade, that was no longer supported, so the power button would be pressed, which would take you to the Windows login screen, at which point a finger swipe would handle the Windows login, and bring you to the desktop.

Yesterday, when trying to start up, at the Login screen, the fingerprint scan did nothing. On the rare occasion over the years when there'd be an issue with the fingreprint scanner, pressing a key would bring up the ability to enter the Windows password. However, when I tried to do so yesterday, it would just slightly magnify the background picture, now revealing the Internet, Accessability and Power buttons in the lower right, but nothing else. There were no Users listed in the middle, and no place to enter a password.

I've searched for hours for solutions, and have not come across many similar situations, which is unusual. I saw suggestions to hold Shift, then Restart in order to bring up the ability to boot in Safe Mode, but that doesn't work (even holding Shift throughout), it only brings you back to the login screen. Other suggestions all revolve around changing settings once into Windows, but I'm never able to get to the desktop.

I have a machine with a fresh install of windows seven. After creating the user, I decided that they should not be an administrator so I enabled the administrator account for me, and set their user privileges to standard. I wanted to force the user to have to change their password the next time they log in. For some reason when I go through the computer management to the user and go to the properties of the standard user, I am not able to check the box to force them to change their password at next log in. This may be a simple thing to fix, but I am still not used to all of the UAC on seven and am unsure of how to resolve this. Thank you.

I'm setting up a new (old Dell CPx) laptop running Win2000. When I create a new user with admin rights, and give that user a password, then try to login as that user with a password, it fails with an error that either the password or domain is incorrect.

I'm using a wireless card to connect to a Netgear router that connects to DSL. But admitedly am relatively new at setting up home (or any) network. I can login to the system as admin, with no password, but obviously would like everything to be password protected. I've checked the property settings on the user, am not using a login script or domain (that I'm aware of), but cannot see any other setting that needs chsnging.

Can you point me in the right direction?

Somehow I have forgotten my password for my user account. Honestly I don't remember ever making one but nowadays I tend to forget plenty. For those wondering how I could have forgotten the password I haven't used my computer in almost 6 months.

I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried every password I've ever used and to no avail.

Then I used ctrl alt del to go into the other login screen and to login as administrator but that didn't work either. I tried "administrator" with no password, then "administrator" with "admin" as password, then "administrator" with passwords I frequently use. Nothing. Computer says check user name/domain/password.

Iam wondering: when I go into this login screen the "user name" window is already filled in with "photekxl," a handle that I frequently use (as you see here). If the window is already filled in does that mean I definitely have an account with that name, even though I don't remember the password?

Also tried "guest" with no pass and it says my guest account has been removed and to "contact the system administrator." Funny.

Please tell me there is a way to get into my files as a guest or something without having to login somewhere? Boot from a CD? Hack into it somehow? I have lots of school and work related files that I simply can't lose so reinstalling is not an option unless it's the only one. PLEASE HELP!!! Appreciate the responses.

Greetings! first time posting, though lurking for a little bit. and hopefully this is the best place for this, unless i should split it up.

I have been getting various BSOD's from my computer recently, though most recently it was 0x0000000A. I think it may stem from google Chrome, as I get these when opening multiple tabs. Curiously this only happens on my main profile. My unused profile is fine.

perhaps unrelated, but after these freeze ups and BSODs, my task manager user name section has gone completely blank, save for system idle process. I try to restart terminal services like a older thread suggests, but it immediatly stops. There was another forum that had a termsvcfix.zip, but that did not work either.

Another thing is if i Log out of my unused user, and into the one i use the most, or vice versa, an error window pops up saying logon.exe is in use by another user.

I realize this is pretty vauge and I'm willing to do whatever you need me to to help diagnose. Thanks so much!

I am new to Linux, and i am having problems after the install. After running the Ubuntu Live CD and liking it, due to its compatibility with my hardware, i decided to full install, no dual boot, kiss windows goodbye!! when the computer restarts and all is good, its time for the 186 updates to download and install. but when it is time to reboot yet again, it comes up, i put in my user name and password, then it is stuck on a "yellowish" screen, and all that works is a mouse curser. I also notice after slamming my keyboard keys in a fit of rage (after 10 minutes of nothing, but losing patience), i can put the computer to sleep with some order of a key command... and hitting the space bar wakes it up. so i do see that keyboard short cuts still work (well, "button mashing" at least) would anyone know if this is a video problem? or some bug like a screen saver, or just plain madness and incompatibility with new software updates on the system?

I also notice after slamming my keyboard keys in a fit of rage (after 10 minutes of nothing, but losing patience), i can put the computer to sleep with some order of a key command... and hitting the space bar wakes it up. so i do see that keyboard short cuts still work (well, "button mashing" at least) would anyone know if this is a video problem? or some bug like a screen saver, or just plain madness and incompatibility with new software updates on the system?Click to expand...

Maybe this is a broken package during upgrade. What you need to do is start in safe mode from GRUB and/or at the graphical log-in go to the little menu on one side, and choose log in to command line.

When you get the command line, log in to your account.

Then:

Code:
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install
Look carefully for error messages. There may be some dpkg to repair. It most probably will say what to do. Then do that, and repeat the ab... Read more

I have Windows 7. Whenever I turn on my computer, it takes me to my Log In screen. Here, it asks me to enter my username and password. I would like to customize my Log In screen so that it always shows my username only (and no other users), and only asks for my password. I've done this before, but I can't remember how. I edited something in the registry before. Could someone please explain the process to me? Thank you!

Hello. I am a very basic user and on my 2006 (yes, that old) X60s ThinkPad i do not remember my user logon password. For years I have just used the fingerprint reader.  Can anyone tell me how/if I can reset the logon password once I have entered using the fingerprint reader?  Am looking forward to hearing from some kind knowledgeable soul. Thanks. R.

Answer:How to change login user password after logging in with fingerprint reader?

rgarland, welcome to the forum,

good question, that also creates a problem.  Discussing how to get around security measures, including fingerprints and passwords is actually against the forum rules.

Hopefully this isn't breaking the forum rules;

Assuming your user account has Admin rights it should be possible to log in using your finger print, which I presume according to your post is the case. When you then go into Users in Control Panel hopefully you have the possibility to reset the password for your user account and enter a new password without having to enter the old one.

Now you have the problem that the fingerprint is associated with the original password now different to the one you have just set which means your fingerprint wont work if you log out and want to log in again.  You will need to go to fingerprint software and delete your passport and then recreate it.

In theory this should work, but I've never been in a position to try it as I've never forgotten a password, or finger come to that

edit; for clarity

Today, there were numerous short power outages in my area.  About 7 over 20 minute period.  Tried to start windows 7 pro and would not start.  Automatic diagnostics could not fix the issue.  I declined system restore and did hard reboot instead.

Windows 7 pro loaded but asked me for a password.  I did not have a password set up.  Before, when promoted for a password to perform changes, the screen would display my user name (Dell T7500) and a blank password field. Pressing enter with that blank password field allowed for changes as administrator.

I don't think that I had to enter user name and password to get in after Windows loaded before.  Now I do.  Again, no password was set for the only user.  I am now presented with a user login screen for user Dell T7500.  Now when I hit enter with a blank password field I get message that says user or password incorrect.  No other user is set up and no password should be required for user Dell T7500.

Perhaps the auto startup diagnostics routine and the subsequent windows diagnostics caused this issue.

I hate to take the thing apart and cancel bios/cmos passwords by taking out the module and not sure that is what is needed.  I think I need password help at the OS level.  Help!

How's that possible?
Imagine a tablet (SP3 or whatever; mine is a Dell), Win10, two users. Both have chosen the Picture Password login. Nice.
First showstopper: At device turn on, the last accessed user login is present. No worries, it was so for 8.1 as well. But there was a back arrow to go back picking another one.
Here is not: Win10 Picture Password login has nothing. Niet. Nada. Only the picture. And some useless space on the left. You want to choose another user? Nein. You can't from there!
I tried different methods: swipes (what? In Win10? All gone, me fool!), pressing ESC (I've a connected keyboard), pressing my account image. nothing.
The only way? You must click to choose a different method of access (aka Text Password). From there there is the users-picker that let you choose another user.
Why MS did not add that in the Picture Password login as well? What were they thinking when they removed the back arrow in Win10??
Are they really thinking we're all running and buy brand new Hello enabled devices, maybe? Is Picture password now "oldies", already?
Being a kid one of the two above users, I can't really stay with Win10 until this situation is ironed out. And no, not a single registry options works for that matter (THIS worked for Win8.x to even automatically-go-back to the multiple user screen; but that screen's entirely gone in Win10).

Ran this by the Malware board with the logs, but nothing showed up but a few loose folders to remove. Removed those and rebooted but still have the problems.

Problem began with brother's family visiting mother over the 4th of July, and one of their children downloading a program onto the PC (some program called Iminent...Smileys and emotiocons no less). It was one of those browser based teen programs. OS is Windows 7 Professional, and browser is IE10.

After attempting to access GMail online, connection now times out. Initially there were also pop ups and redirects which seem to have vanished after I ran a System Restore. Also, the homepage was changed. As far as connecting goes, GMail and Facebook seem to be the big problems. When opening Facebook get a message that "Revocation information for the security certificate of this site is not available. Do you want to proceed?" That wasn't happening before, and it's very aggravating.

Also, there is a serious lag before pages can be scrolled or before anything can be added to a text box. It's a 5 to 10 second wait before login is available on any site. With Major Geeks pages, there is about a 8 second delay before scrolling is available. I know this was not present before as I used the PC before they downloaded the program(s), and the pages were quick to load and all features were available instantly. The lag really annoying as hell.

Before coming here I ran System Restore as I mentioned... Read more

I had installed onenote 2010 on 28-32 bit seeing a tip that it can be used to save form-field entries for later use so that it doesn't get lost on pressing esc key by accident in ie10 (The way Lazarus works).

But ever since I installed onenote and allowed its addons to work in ie, I am finding that as soon as I open my gmail a/c page on ie10, there is a huge net upload activity going on as shown by my graphical netmeter and gmail page doesn't open (doesn't show my mails) for a long time.

I have to close the page after long wait.

It was not happening in chrome, but was happening only in ie10.

Today, I disabled all onenote addons in ie10, and since then the gmail is loading well and fast and netmeter doesn't show this huge upload.

What exactly was this?

Was onenote uploading all my gmail information (mails, attachments) to some server for syncing? Was it safe?

how to I use onenote without having such huge net upload. It is worrisome.

Thanks.

Hi ,
I am running windows 7 professional 64 bit on a quadcore xeon machine.
My company IT policy requires that we change our account passwords every 2 months. After the last password change , my computer is locking me out of the network by trying to login with an invalid password stored somewhere in the credential manager.
I have tried clearing the credential manager many times , no use. we checked all my machines, virtual machines, network drives, printers, none of them seem to solve the problem.
Our IT specialist has checked our machines multiple times and found nothing.
so far we know of two machines with the same configuration causing this problem. The only way to avoid being locked out is to turn off my machine at night.  The login attempts occur at 5:00 am in the morning every day .

Answer:Security-kerberos Event ID 14 . credential manager causes system to login to network with invalid password and lock the account.

Microsoft Support found the problem for us.  Our domain accounts were locking when a Windows 7 computer was started.  The Windows 7 computer had a hidden old password from that domain account.
There are passwords that can be stored in the SYSTEM context that can't be seen in the normal Credential Manager view.

So far I like it. There's no bookmarks sync, but that's fixed by junction linking the favorites folder to my skydrive.

The metro browser is a lot nicer. Chrome basically just fudges their own windowing environment to throw desktop Chrome into, but IE10 is definitely designed for metro. I live how my tabs are just a quick swipe on my trackpad away.

they FINALLY added spellcheck! It works pretty well, and so far it seems to be better than Chrome's (and even has autocorrect, but fortunately it's a very mild version so it's actually useful)

I do hate how all favorites are just lumped together in metro mode. On desktop mode I have them well organized in folders, but in metro it's just a really really long and disorganized line.

Sometimes it freezes when I'm opening tabs. IE has always done this though.

I miss how in Chrome I can right-click highlighted text and click search. But it's now just one additional step, so not a problem.

For some reason the desktop and metro versions don't seem to use the exact same cookies and saved passwords.

Hi Folks
There is a site where I return data regularly as part of a small part time job. In the past when I enter my username, email, and other data, it would give me suggestions the next time I entered the same data, which does happen. I dont know if that is what you call auto fill in or not.
Lately it has stopped doing it; I tried solutions I found online like clicking on settings, advanced, passwords and forms, and enabling auto fill, but that doesnt work. Oh, its Google chrome Im using.
So I tried entering data on the same website but opened in Firefox, and it remembers what I've previously typed.
Has anyone any clue how to fix this in Chrome? I must be altering the wrong settings somewhere.
thank you!

I currently use a computer that I bought off a former coworker of mine. It's a good system; he was using it with Server 2008 for a home business he was operating at the time. Naturally, having no need for Server 2008 it was the first thing to go. I messed around with Win7, then a distro or two of Linux, before eventually reinstalling Win 7 and going on my merry way. In fact, I've done a repair install of Windows since making that final decision.

The thing is...his personal info still shows up in Chrome and FireFox's autofill. That is, when I double click a website's name/address field, one of the options will be his name, his address or his phone number. Since getting it, we haven't had any contact at all, so I know full well he's not touched it to fill anything out. Really, he didn't even have anything other than IE on it when I bought it off him. Browsers have been installed, borked up, uninstalled and reinstalled (as has the OS) a couple times. Still, it'll show. What's weird is it isn't always 100% of the time - some sites will have him as an option, but not others.

This doesn't have any real impact on how the PC operates, but it is about 200% weird and I'd like to know if anyone has any ideas how the heck something like this happens. I mean, that data can't just coincidentally have survived a few OS transitions...could it?

Thanks,

M.

Answer:Spooky FF/Chrome Auto-Fill Options

Was Firefox ever completely uninstalled at any point since you acquired the computer? If not, the former owner's profile might have remained intact. I'm far less experienced with the Chrome browser, but it seems possible old data files might have survived the various OS transitions.

Chrome, Firefox, IE10 Comparison w/Poll
What Browser do you use? Comments on why, are welcome, but not necessary.

Out of my own curiosity, I made a little comparison of the top 3 browsers, Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer10,

ie; CPU usage and Memory usage.

Every browser works differently on every machine, too many variables to get in depth here.
I made this comparison for myself as I had noticed that out of the three I mentioned, I want to use the best
one for my needs and the one that uses the least amount of Memory & CPU overall.

My Comparison:

Starting with Google Chrome Using Task Manager;

Link Download Chrome http://betdownload.com/google-chrome-20-download
Running Chrome with 1 add-on

Very impressed with low running App Memory of only 69.9MB's and 0% CPU usage, however,
Chrome has 9 running processes using 510.2MB's of memory, plus the 69.9MB's, equals a total of 580.1MB's

Link download Firefox 25 : http://betdownload.com/mozilla-firefox-23-download
Running Firefox with 9 add-ons. 2 extensions & 7 plugins;

1 running process @ 4.2MB's, plus 216.4MB's, equals 220.6MB's Memory usage and 1.4% CPU
You will also note, Chrome has 2 running background processes.

Download IE 10: http://betdownload.com/internet-explorer-10-22-download

I have a client that brought me his laptop for removal of the login password. Apparently, his neighbor's cousin -the computer "expert"- added the password to make the PC "harder to hack when you're on the internet" - yeah, his words, not mine, whatever rolleyes. This expert neglected to write down the password, and cannot remember exactly what the password is. Anyhow- here's the problem: when using the tools I normally use for this (Active Password Changer and/or the 'Locksmith' feature in the ERD/MSDaRT), they do not show the account that is passworded. But if I use a file explorer from a preinstall environment, I can see the account in question. This is confusing; let me clarify: If I browse to C:\Users using the file explorer in ERD/MSDaRT or UBCD4Win, I see the normal "Administrator" account, the normal "Guest" account, an account we'll call "Bob", and an account we'll call "Joe". The password is on the account "Joe". When using a password changing tool, the account "Joe" is not listed, only the normal "Administrator" and "Guest" or "Public" accounts, and the "Bob" account. When I boot to Windows and get to the login screen, the account Joe comes up, but not the account Bob. I'm thinking the "expert" that previously worked on the laptop really screwed up the user accounts and profiles. I'm thinking I... Read more

Answer:Windows7- "Hidden" user account and login password problems

Not sure about the reg fix but you might want to try PClogin and see if it detects all of the accounts. If it detects the account, just check the box marked password is empty. This clears the password. If the "expert" used EFS to encrypt the files of the account then resetting the password would cause all the encrypted files to be inaccessible.

I have a domain joined Surface Pro 2 running 8.1 Pro.
The following GPO settings are in place:

* Assign a default domain for logon

* Do not display last logged on user

* Disable logging in with Microsoft accounts - uses the following registry setting - MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\NoConnectedUser - Value = 3

The end goal is for the machine to boot to the login screen that just displays empty user name and password fields
The problem at the moment is that instead of doing that, the client boots to a screen where the only option is to click on "Other user". Only then does the login screen I want, where they enter their username and password in full, actually appear.
These Surface Pro 2's are to be used by small children, and have the "Other User" screen appear is confusing for them, as well as being very annoying for me. It's completely unnecessary.
I've searched all over the 'net looking for an easy way to get the client to boot straight to the standard domain joined log in screen, but every time it just boots to this "Other User" screen that has to be clicked on in order to get the correct
login screen to come up.
Is there any way I can get this to boot straight to the login screen I want?

Whenever a user changes their Windows password, the next time they open their mail, it prompts them for user name & password. It appears that the user's password changes the Windows Mail password, thus causing Windows Mail to prompt for it because the newly saved password doesn't work. I can't find any help on this anywhere. Any ideas how to unlink this?

friends; I thought I knew my way around things-IE but I'm baffled at this: on a Win8 laptop [hp g7], I have IE10 set fairly loosely - not a lot of encumbrances, and in particular have checked and rechecked the settings for saving/remembering passwords to sites that require login, yet it is hit/miss on "remembering" those. some yes, some no. Chrome, on the other hand, is pretty consistent, it seems but the user insists on using IE.

googling about, I see others with this issue or something that smells like it, including posts on Microsoft helps forums and others, and no really good ideas/solutions. most of it is what you would expect: "do you have other security products?", "have you checked for malware"; "try reloading the operating system" [oh my...], "recheck settings" or "return IE to default"...

all help will be greatly appreciated

I am Arun Kumar Kushwaha and I have discovered one Big Loophole/Security Leak in Microsoft's Windows 7 Operating System worldwide.
through which we can Access/Delete/Copy/Replace Important Data without Cracking/Resetting the Login Password in Windows 7 OS
and for this we not need any 3rd party Software/ CD/ DVD/ Pen drive/ CMD/ Script/ or any other means of hacking Devices/tool.

only through Windows 7 OS we can Access anybodies Computer Around the world, and user will never get to know that his/her computer has accessed by someone else.
This is purely Microsoft's Negligence towards user's Around the world.

U can assume how much serious is this Issue, if anybody can steal confidential Important data of Company/ Govt data/ or any other Sensitive Personal data of anyone who are using windows 7 OS.

I have Talked through telephone to MS India regarding this Issue and they told me that there is no loophole in their OS and can't be accessed by anyone without having Login Password or User need to Reset login Password with tool/software available.

also i have mailed to MS Technical support Team and also asked about this issue on Windows worldwide official support forum, but not get any meaning full response from them.

I am asking this message to here, coz i want to Spread this issue around the world, so every user can secure their Data and also MS can rectify this issue by releasing an OS Update.

Thanks for reading ..

Hello World-
Programming jokes aside, I have internet explorer 10 installed on my pc running Windows 7. Ie10 keeps opening on my desktop (it goes to the Microsoft Support webpage). It keeps opening in my task manager until my CPU is at 100% and my computer gets very slow. I only run Microsoft Security Essentials, at least to my knowledge. I have tried disabling add-ons, running full security scans, starting in safe mode, etc.
I have read several other similar problems, but they seem to be particular to each individual's computer...figured I had better start my own topic.

Hello,

I would appreciate somebody?s advice for the following problem; A few days ago suddenly after browsing Italian Election results J in trusted www sites like major media portals, newpapers, etc , my IE10 fonts and image sizes got totally messed up. Only alarming thing was that Yahoo.it asked me to allow Adobe Flash player to run / install somekind of add-on, which I thought would be harmless.. After realising the problem, I reset IE10, run CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware and Defender. No malwares or viruses. So far I have done everything what I can even think about to resolve the issue; Even did a clean installation of Windows 8 Pro from USB ISO file downloaded from MS and updated BIOS without any luck. One alarming thing is that when trying to run Windows Memory Diagnostic tool through either command prompt or Win8, Ionly get an empty screen and cooling fan goes crazy. Could it be hardware issue?
I?m running a Asus UX31E, Intel Core i7 2677M processor, 4GB RAM, 256SSD, integrated IntelHD Graphics 3000 with 1600x900 resolution, Windows 8 Pro with IE10 and Chrome browsers (both have the same problem).

I attach here a couple of screen shots where you can see that some sites work just fine but most have mixed set of fonts and the browser does not scale pictures or align the pages to full browser.

Thanks in advance for your help.

IE10 Chrome Safari Opera Firefox Benchmark topic for you ..

IE10: How does it really stack up? : on lucidchart.com : http://www.lucidchart.com/blog/2012/11/14/ie10-how-does-it-really-stack-up/

'What does this benchmark measure?
We designed our benchmark to determine if a new release of our software is going to slow down the user experience. Not only do we measure overall runtime, but we actually instrument a number of critical functions so that we know, for example, how many times a piece of text is re-rendered. If those numbers go up, then we know we?ve introduced a new bug that hurts performance.

We also use the benchmark to compare the performance of different browsers. With the recent release of Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 and some initial reviews of its performance ( ...), we were interested to see how IE10 performance stacks up against the current versions of other browsers.'
Benchmark results simple:

Firefox: crashed
Opera: 663 seconds
Safari: 635
IE: 246
Chrome: 216
- lower is better ..

I can not get IE10 to work or any of the following browsers to work - Opera, Chrome and Firefox - they start up but hang and can't access the Internet. I have Download Accellerator Plus (DAP) loaded on my Windows 7 PC and its browser can access the Internet. This all started after I was trying to cure a problem with Windows Live Mail - it had 0c80041161 error. I tried everything I could find on the internet to fix the problem. In the end I decided to do a repair install of Windows 7 - I did it but ever since my browsers wont work. I can still get Windows 7 updates and MSE updates. The PC also connects and works to my LAN router, LAN storage and LAN Printer. I have uninstalled all Windows Live Programs after trying to do a repair a few times. I have uninstalled DAP and uninstalled IE10 but still no success - no browser works including IE8 now. From Command Prompt I can ping Internet Servers and get responses. I can also FTP to servers. My backup software stills backups up PC to my NAS.

The problem has to be something common to all browsers with how they connect to network.

Any help or suggestions please.

Answer:IE10, IE8, Chrome, Firefox and Opera browsers won't work.

Question: IE10 user agent

Hi all

I'm having some issues with watching trailers at imdb.com.

I'm using IE10 and have no full screen option.
When using Chrome, there is one.

I've noticed that if I'm going to IE10 dev option (F12) and there I'm changing the user agent to Chrome, I have the full screen option and actually and IE crashes a lot less (I don't understand why, but it does).
Every time I'm closing IE, the option resets the default setting and I have to manually change it to Chrome again.

I'm searching of a way to set the user agent of IE10 (Win8 Pro x64) to be always on "Chrome Mode"

Is there a way to do it?

Thanks

We use a ticketing application called Helpspot. A quick rundown is that is scrubs our support inbox, automatically creates tickets from those emails, etc. The application sends out emails using one of our exchange servers. The problem that I THINK I'm having is that when the email goes out, it's automatically appending '94 - Operations Supprt' to the From section of the emails. This is the name associated with the email address that is being used to send emails from.

Here are some of the email settings: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2702/4325460464_9b778d4fae_o.png
Notice 'Account Name'. That should be appending whoever is assigned the ticket in the From section with 'Operations Support'. I have no doubt that it is probably doing it, but I'm wondering if that is getting overwritten when it passes through our exchange server.

Here's what everyone else sees when they recieve an email. It should say 'Operations Support (Tim)' in the From section:http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2756/4324738755_d6f0311a15_o.png

Answer:Exchange 07 - Appending 'User name' in from section of emails

Is this a mail enabled public folder or a full user mailbox (operation account)

I have been using my Gmail account for years on my PC without having to sign in (already saved) and my written down saved PW now doesn't work (on my laptop after I reset it). But if I want to access my Gmail from another computer (which I do) I cannot login.

I have a recovery AOL email address but as I had not used it for more than 90 days I had to renew it - the PW remains the same but when I get Gmail to send a PW reset code to that AOL address nothing arrives.

As that Gmail PW is somewhere on my PC how can I access it and read the characters?

Can anyone advise please?

Some web developers might want to adapt their websites in order to welcome a change introduced by Internet Explorer 10.

At MIX11, Microsoft launched the first Platform Preview of IE10, and with it a new user-agent string for the browser version.

IE10 PP1 is specifically designed for web devs to get ready for the successor of Internet Explorer 9.

In some cases, especially for sites that rely on user-agent sniffing, developers will need to do some work in order to compensate for the ?MSIE? token increase to ?10.0?.

Of course, they could also switch to feature detection, and no additional US String work will be needed. Considering IE?s evolution in terms of modern web standards support, using feature detection is in fact the best way to go.

However, those that decide to stick with user-agent sniffing need to know that IE10?s UA String is: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/6.0).Click to expand...

Hi,
I would like to make a section of my harddrive password protected? I assume software will be better at doing this than some 'hack'? Does anyone recommend any software? Or good Google search terms?
I currently have a Windows machine but i'd like it to be as universal as possible just in case i leave Windows behind and move to a different OS just as Apple or Linux...or even Android.
Thanks

Answer:How to make a section of my HDD password protected

A section of a hard drive could be considered as a partition
You could partition the hard drive and password protect it there are many programs out there to do it such as Easus Partition manager

I have a laptop with Windows 8; it's only about 2 months old and I have not installed any non-Microsoft browser yet. Although IE10 generally seems like an improved browser from Microsoft, I find password saving less reliable with it than with Firefox or Opera, just as I'm generally found with previous versions of IE.

An example is logging on to this forum. IE does not save the password, even though, as I recall, I was prompted about whether I wanted IE to remember the password the first time I visited the site with this computer and I accepted. Is this consistent with the experience of any of you? Perhaps I'm not doing something right.

Answer:Dissatisfaction with password remembering with IE10

I personally use lastpass: http://www.majorgeeks.com/lastpass_d6185.html
Whether I'm using IE 10, chrome or FireFox. I don't have to worry about passwords.

I know that probably doesn't help, but just an offer.

I have a HP desktop with Windows Credentials and it won't fill in passwords and user names in websites.

I must tell you I haven't used Windows Credentials in the past because I had an antivirus which had a "Safe" which kept these things and it worked really well. However, I was having some real problems setting up a homegroup (which has now been solved) and one of the things suggested to me by those who were helping me work out this Homegroup problem, was to switch my antivirus to Windows Essentials, which I did.

When I uninstalled this other antivirus that had the ID Safe, and went with Windows Credentials, I found Windows Credentials wouldn't work at all. It never fills in the user names and passwords for any website.

Just as a comparison, I have a HP laptop (running Win 8.1), which is now part of my new Homegroup, and I never have any trouble with Windows Credentials, now or before, filling in user names and passwords.

I'm killer on keeping up with all updates on both my PCs, as I think of them like a car......to keep a car in shape you need to do regular tune-ups, oil changes, and other maintenance procedures to keep it running in tiptop condition, and the same with my PCs.

I think you'll find the necessary information on the desktop in the little blue arrow on the side where it says My System...<<<

Answer:Windows Credential Will Not Fill in User Names and Passwords In Websites

I meant Widodws Credential Manager.

And, in my laptop I need to type in the first letter of the user name before the Credential Manager will fill in the rest.

This doesn't happen in Credential Manager in the desktop......I get nothing.

Also, when I go to a new website which needs a user name and password, and I fill these in I get no notice Credential Manager has saved them.
