I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Mysterious on screen icon in lower centre of X220 Windows 10 laptop

It is On-Screen display icon indicating that ThinkLight is turned off. No wonder since X220 is not Windows 10 compatible.

My pc sits where I walk by it everyday. My screen saver is a digital clock.
I walk by it today and it is sitting at the login screen with a new user Icon.
The icon is listed as "David" as the user. I don't know any David's nor have
ever had a David as a user on this pc. There is no David when I navigate to
C:/Windows/Users. Nor is there a user David in user profiles. I looked at the
System Security Log and have alot of Event ID #4625. I don't know if this mean
anything or not. What should I be looking for. Have I been Hacked?

Any Help Would be Appreciated

Answer:Mysterious User Account Icon on Login Screen - Have I been Hacked?

There would only be a folder structure for the account if there's been a log in. Right-click on Computer and select Manage, then select Local Users.... See if there's a David there, double-click on it and see what User Groups he's a member of. Especially if he's an admin it should be deleted asap.

I believe the location in the lower right is a task bar but correct me if I am wrong.
I have tried services.msc, disable etc. Also tried messenger preferences .

I have windows xp sp3 and run msie 7.
I have two identities with Outlook Express and although I have somehow fixed the messenger from appearing when I open O.E. on the desktop I forgot how to do it so it always appears on the lap top.
How can I remove it with out getting into the registry?
Thank you

Answer:Remove Windows messenger icon lower right

If you do not use Windows Messenger Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

How can I do this? When I rightclick the taskbar and choose notification area > customise, I have the "always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar" ticked (I much prefer this) but this stops be being able to choose "Only show notifications" for Action Centre (yet I can for other programs). How can I fix this? Thanks

Right click on the task bar and choose properties, then go to the "Notification area" then click on "Customize." Now your ready to hide that little pesty bugger. . .

My laptop screen has developed a vertical grey band about 10cm wide which starts very light but as I leave the laptop switched on gets increasingly dark and when dark I can see effectively a shadow of a previous image on the screen, making it very difficult to read. I'm concerned that it may not simply be a screen replacement issue as there seems some comment that it may be a connector cable issue.  Any ideas?

Hi, I pressed some strange keys on my keyboard (something like a shift+alt+function) the other day when I was in Excel and I unintentionally turned on some feature that causes my Thinkpad X220's display to automatically reorient when I physically change the orientation of my screen.  For example, if I flip my laptop sideways, the screen orientation changes as well.  As cool as this is, it's driving me crazy.  Any idea how to turn this feature off? Thank you!

I want to preface this message so that others may understand how horrible an experience it is to claim anything on the manufacture warranty with Lenovo.  Previous to my company using Lenovo we used Dell. Their support was always top notch. They came on site to replace broken or defective parts and all with in 1-2 day period. The Lenovo warranty experince will start by you being suffeld around to 3-4 different Indian speaking help desk locations, and after explaining your issues 4-5 times they will inform you that you must ship the laptop in for replacement services. This will require you to be with out your laptop for 7-10 business days. That in my book is  unacceptable to any standards. IBM Thinkpads used to be known for how well they supported the business user, now we are told that you have no other options but to ship the laptop and wait more than a week for the matter to be resolved.  This is the last straw from a frustrated IT manager, and we will be taking our business to a vendor that values customer support and stands behind thier products better.

Answer:Frustrating Warranty Experience X220 Laptop 4 Months old broken LCD Screen

While I can sympahise - when you purchased your lenovo products if you did not purchase the on-site service what exactly do you expect ? Like anything else, no-one can return a product for service without following procedures and such returns, repairs etc all take time. So - whats the issue - you are getting exactly what you paid for .......

While switching windows, I came across an unknown icon.

(screen shot taken with a camera as I do not know how to take a screen shot of the task switcher)
The icon in question is on the far left, showing a red, yellow and blue square/box, within a white box.

There is no description when this icon is selected.
After spotting the icon and attempting to check the task manager for a running program with the matching icon, it is no longer shown in the task switcher.

In the lefthand section of the desktop lower panel, There were a number of icon shortcuts for opening programs.
"Start", "Windows Internet Explorer", "Windows Explorer", and one that opened up a window allowing to select various items including the pc webcam program. This last icon has disappeared, most likely due to some function I performed (and shouldn't have).
So I could use some assistance in getting this very useful icon back.

I have seen these posts on this site and a few others. It even happened to me a while back. My icons were not the nice XP icons unless I set my color to 32 bit.
I was trying to help someone today and used TWEAKUI to place a smaller shortcut icon. After, I had the ugly icons back again.
My IE icons were all dark Blue, and the other Shell icons( My computer etc) had changed to totally different icons. The color was grainy. A setting had been changed. One which has nothing to do with the shortcut overlay icon.
I traced the problem. For some reason TWEAKUI changes a registry entry it doesn't need to change.

Anyone who wants to get their icons back to what they were before, can either change to 32 bit or use 16 bit and put the registry entry back the way it should be.

Here it is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

Highlight WindowMetrics in the left pane. Look in the right pane for this Value.
Shell Icon BPP
Double click on Shell Icon BPP and Modify the value data to:

Click OK. Exit the registry.

Log off and back on for the change to take effect. You'll be back to the XP icons using 16 bit.

when Win8 boots up to Start menu I position mouse cursor to lower-left corner. But the popup icon for switching to desktop does not show anymore. I have to right-click and choose Desktop. I have Win8 about a week, and I'm not sure what I changed so that the popup icon does not show anymore... Any help would be appreciated

Answer:Lower left popup icon

Hello Morte, and welcome to Eight Forums.

This would be normal when Windows 8 is first started up since nothing (including the desktop) has been run yet. The pop-up is part of the Switcher that let's you switch between opened apps. Since the Desktop is considered an app, it doesn't show up in the Switcher until after the Desktop has been opened for the first time.

If you like, I find using the method in the tutorial below helps to make it easier to get to the desktop.
Hope this helps,

So this has baffled me for a while now, I've usually just ignored it but now its really annoying me.

I have an i7 920 desktop I built my self back in 2009 with 6GB of DDR3 and a Radeon 4870.

Its start up times and shutdown times are beat by my small ASUS G60JX with only a small i5, and 4GB of DD3.

They're both running Windows 7 Professional, I've tried narrowing it down to some kind of part on my desktop but if I were to use safe mode on the desktop its exceptionally fast.

Here is what I've done so far on my desktop to try and speed it up; I've disabled startup programs, fiddled with BIOS configuration settings, changed Windows 7's theme to classic, adjusted for best performance, new video drivers, motherboard drivers, SFC checks, HDD integrity check with Windows, and some other stuff that I can't remember right now, but its just always quirky and sometimes slow when it really shouldnt be. Right now in the taskbar it shows the network icon as if its searching for something but its frozen with the searching icon stuck, but the internet works just fine, sometimes explorer.exe freezes randomly. I've done virus scans as well but I reformat every 2 months or so because these problems keep annoying me.

The HDD's on the desktop are 1 500GB Sata HDD with 7200 RP, Windows 7 uses that as the primary drive, and a 1TB drive for dead space, I've heard that its better for drives of that size to be dead space instead of having the 500GB be dead space, otherwise the drive is a... Read more

Apart from occasional ghosting experienced by many users (related to static build up), the machine was working perfectly on Windows 10 Build 10240 (the first public release). It updated itself to the 2nd main release (build 10586) and all appeared to go well, but after the time it took to update, all I did initially was to establish that the main screen and keyboard looked ok, and shut it down using touch on the main screen.Next time it started up and tried to use the keyboard, the lower touch screen had started to register it's touches on the top screen but mirrored. I have re-installed anything that looks vaguely related to graphics or touch from the recovery app but still no joy. It is definitely a Windows/driver problem, as the smaller boot-up keyboard that appears briefly before windows starts to load, actually registers touch on the lower screen correctly, so the hardware is working as it should.Currently running on top screen only in tablet mode - fine for web browsing, but as a software developer this is not a workable solution, so have to plug in an external keyboard and mouse.I have seen a post on Youtube from someone who claims to have got round this problem by reinstalling the recovery apps and drivers, but I've had no luck with this (tried both from recovery app and downloaded from Acer site). Has anyone else had thos probblem and managed to solve it? If so please share your solution.

So the problems so far is i've been noticing a disappearing icon on my taskbar , it is a blue square background with a white x in the middle, usually when i try to mouse over it , it disappears today i was able to finally mouse over it during one of my internet disconnect episodes and it had the code "XIGNCODE3 49176". My system is on 24/7 and I use a screen saver which activates after 15 minutes of inactivity. Every now and then, when I first start using the system in the morning, there is an unknown icon in the Taskbar (image below). Usually, the appearance of this unknown icon will cause the system to become unstable and clicking any desktop icon will lock on it, but it will not activate or run the associated program. This usually requires a system shutdown using the On/Off button to correct the problem. However, when the icon appeared today I received an error message, after moving the mouse around; "System Settings Broker has stopped working"

Anyone else having this problem or know what may be causing it?
I have enlarged the image from its original size for clarity.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 and recently I have ran into some weird problems, and I'm not sure of the cause.

It started with my sound. Regular Windows sounds work but when I try to stream video online, it doesn't play sound. I tried playing video saved to my computer with different players (windows media player, vlc, etc.) and nothing works (doesn't even play video). I've also tried playing music through windows media player and itunes, and audio doesn't play as well. I've checked sound settings on my laptop and everything is fine, and i've tried checking sound settings on each player (making sure sound was up and they weren't on mute) and everything is good with those as well.

Internet Explorer stopped working. When I try to load it, nothing happens. I don't have Mozilla on this pc so I can't give info on that, but Google Chrome works.

When bringing up a window to try to attach something, it is blank. A couple examples...I have some DVD's backed up on my laptop, and while using my burner, I click the open folder button and it is blank and won't let me select any folders to upload to the program that I want to burn. Another wife uses Shutterfly and you have to click upload photos. It does the same thing, where it won't let us load any photos.

Something also keeps popping up on my screen saying that "oneclick.exe has stopped working". I recognize "oneclick" on a reputable pc tuner that I used to use but haven't ... Read more

well, recently i got the alienGUIse thingy because i liked the themes, so i hated the windows 7 theme therefore i went ahead and used the vista theme, that didnt work out too well and since i didnt know how to reset the "theme" to default, i clicked an option to resort to a vista looking theme, which looked pretty similar to windows 7. then, i attempted to remove Stardock and the rest of all that by going into program files and clicking on Uninstall.exe. it later popped up saying it wasint installed right, i just closed that seeing as how a bunch of stuff was deleted. i restarted and deleted the file off of programfiles and i immediately saw that all my shortcuts on desktop had the Installed_programs icon on the lower left hand corner. i later went to deocuments and i saw that there were a bunch od desktop.ini files everywhere, inwhich i proceeded to delete them but curious me, i read one and it headead towards shell32.dll and imageres(32?).dll, in those dll's i found that some of the alienware theme icons were located there, and soon i started seeing folders with those icons. Later, i went to regedit and deleted all the files i found that had stardock and i went to starup repair and nothing changed. oh and some files have the admin needed shield for no reason also.

But I learned from my own experience, this forum and other forums that creating a system restore point manually is a good way  to restore things when we experiment something new unless the volume Shadow Copy or system restore point(s) being deleted.

Title got a bit weird but I don't know how else to describe it. Basically by default when playing a video file it should look like this, just a little icon of a negative. Now the problem is I added album art to some of my mp3's on desktop and now every movie file I play there has that album art at the lower left corner(not a problem when playing the file at another location).

How do get rid of it? It obviously has cached it somewhere, there must be a way to reset or delete something(bonus points if you guess the album ).

edit: Nevermind, fixed it. It placed the jpg files on desktop, just had to unhide protected operating system files to see and delete them.

Answer:Mysterious Search Text in Windows 8.1 Start Screen

Do you remember exactly what the search text was?

It could be a Virus, I've seen this kind of thing happen. Reboot your System and see if it does it again, if it does, copy the text from the Search Box exactly how it is inserted.

Then Open Regedit and paste the text into that, hit "Find" see if it shows up ion the registry. If the search text shows up, you may also find other pre-defined searches, if you do, export 5the reg key and then delete em, and post what you find here... "Programs" that would do this are "Baylon" - That's one of them, there are others.

I'm on Windows 2000, and having a problem with the option enabling various input locales for the keyboard.

I have a shortcut to change between different input locales. I know this shortcut works, as hitting it a few times leaves me typing cyrillic characters.

The problem comes, however, in the shape of the taskbar icon, or rather, its conspicuous absence. Despite clicking the "Enable indicator on taskbar" option, there is no taskbar icon. I have also tried disabling it, and enabling it again. This is incredibly annoying, as some of the input locales I use are very similar, and it is hard to distinguish between them.

My computer recently contracted a virus, and in repairing it, I may have accidentally deleted a necessary program, but I'm not sure. A quick HouseCall scan told me the virus had been removed, yet this problem remains, so it might stem from that.

The only other possible cause I can think of was a recent blue screen, which seems to have stopped my games from running. But don't worry about that, that's a whole different post!

Any help would be very much appreciated, I'm close to tearing my hair out!

Hey guys. Haven't had the need to be on here in a while. Thankfully I haven't needed it. LOL. I have Vista Home Premium SP1 installed and it is running without issue for the most part. I spent the last few days cleaning and tweaking. I do have a stupidly annoying problem, however. My desktop icon for Google keeps changing itself back to the default IE webpage icon every time I use it. No other icons do this, and it is very annoying. I Googled this problem and couldn't find any other instances of this occurring. Thanks in advance for any help with this small, but annoying problem. P.s.... I have no spyware, malware, toolbars, viruses, trojans, pirated software, or any other no-no's on the computer.

I have searched through all of the icons on my HDD and have not found this particular icon.

I would like to know if anybody recognizes this icon.
Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Mysterious icon found in task switcher (Alt+Tab)

The icon got similar coloring structure like Microsoft office, so could it be that the office updater was running and you just happen to stumble upon it. I don't have office installed to confirm what the icon looks like when office is updating, so I may be wrong about this, but it's better than nothing.

I think...;)

If you are running a Win8 desktop (I am running a fully updated 8.1) and are being besieged by a pesky Homegroup icon that appears from nowhere in 33%-50% of your boots, I think I now know why it appears, and how to banish it permanently without resort to registry hacking, disabling Homegroup, etc.

If you are one of the affected folks, then the first thing you need to do is tap that Windows key & open up the Start Page that none of us uses. At the top of the page you're allowed to sort the start page icons, so go ahead and sort them by name. Go to the "H" section and you should see "Homegroup" sitting there, staring you right in the face. Right-click and choose "unpin from start page", or something very close to that. You will note that the Homegroup icon is now gone from the start page--but we don't use the start page--so tap that Windows key again and return to the desktop.

Homegroup should now have joined the gone-group...;)

I think the situation has to do with a bug in the code Microsoft uses to coordinate the start page with the desktop in Win8. I'm thinking that if the Homegroup icon is removed from the desktop but not the start page, too, that during a certain percentage of boots Win8 gets confused by the fact that it is present on the start page but not on the desktop--which makes a modicum of sense when we consider that the default for Win8 is the start page, not the desktop.

I hope this at last solves my proble... Read more

My X220 laptop arrived two days ago and the log-in screen (before going to the desktop) changed from a black background with the word THINK to the regular Windows 7 background. In the two days that I have had my computer, I was loving the black background with the word THINK everytime I signed into my computer. Hello Community, I'm having some problems with my X220 at work. I installed Windows 8 on it a few months ago. Everything was working okay. But for the past couple of weeks I've had some screen problem. Once I close the lid on the laptop and reopen it again the screen stays black without showing me anything again. I have to do a hard reboot everytime that happens and it happens 2 times a week. When that happens I lose some important data and it's simply a pain in the a**. Maybe you guys had the same problem and found a solution. Or it might be a Hardware problem of some sort. But before throwing it in the garbage I just wanna see if someone has a solution for me. Thanks everyone and have a nice day. Regards, Phil

The problem is that X220 hangs on splash screen during Windows 8 boot process. Usually, the screen dims if the boot is successful. I have installed an intel SSD 520 and had it updated to the latest driver/firmware. I have installed 16GB Memory.I had both my SSD and memory tested and found NP. BIOS is latest. EVERYTHING is latest. Windows 8 just hangs irregularly. I also noticed the ratio of the splash screen isn't correct: the circling circle isn't round, it's ovan. Installed Windows 8 with EFI/GPT. Anyone got similar issue?

only solution i found is to remove the problem program, which is the on-screen display.  open up task manager next time it happens, check the running processes under "details."  will find one with a function icon that is for the on-screen display.  right click, select "open folder to view file."   i just cut and pasted the problem program into my documents folder in case ever need to put back.

Hi,I have a Lenovo T60p running Vista Ultimate 32-bit.  This machine is using a FireGL V5250 display adapter according to device manager.  I usually run the machine at 1650x1050 resolution, however, when I try to go lower, it just shrinks the window - so I have black borders all around a tiny screen.  This presents a problem when trying to enlarge my screen for those who have a hard time seeing my resolution since resizing simply shrinks the screen.  It doesn't change the resolution and stretch the image so it is full screen.  I have tried magnification and fn+spacebar does the same thing - shrinks the screen.  I've ensured that the BIOS is set to extend display on.  Any thoughts on this? Thanks,Martin

Answer:T60p lower screen resolution shrinks screen

So I was able to resolve this.  I've been having issues with catalyst control center and after many attempts to retry the installation, it would never come back up.  I finally went through one last uninstall and deleted all the Program Files\ATI directories and performed a reinstall.  Once CCC came back online, there was an option under the Advanced screen for Notebook Panel Properties>Attributes, in which you could scaling options.  If you set the scaling options to full screen instead of centered - this will stretch the screen so that you will no longer have the black borders when you decrease the screen resolution. Martin

I have had this issue about 8 months ago, while under warranty and sent it in. They replaced the display and it was fine until about 2 weeks ago when the lower 1/3 of the screen flickers after I move the screen(usually when I would 1st open the screen.) It has gotten to the point when I will just be typing and the screen starts to flicker. To get rid of the flicker, I need to gently squeeze the lower left hand bezel and it goes away for a little bit, but now it comes back every few minuets. Im not sure if its a loose connection or what. Anyone have similar issues?  The tablet is out of warranty and I do not have the money to get a new display. Can this screen be fixed? ThanksJon

my name is DarkWazaman. I just recently (like yesterday) noticed that i cant adjust my screen brightness with the shortcut keys (f2 and f3) and in the power options.

when i have my laptop plugged in the brightness is at full, when i have it unplugged, using the battery, its lower than half so it can last longer.

right now is unplugged and the brightness is at max, when i touch the brightness keys it show its all the way down but i cant raise or lower it and the brightness stays the same .

dont know if keeping it connected to my lg tv via hdmi for a month maybe changed some settings or something. also i connected and usb receiver for wireless keyboard and mouse.

i had no problems during this time, when i was connected to my lg led tv. even playing for hours some video games like godfather 2, evil dead regeneration. but just this days i noticed it went total shutdown after a while of playing resident evil 5, guess it made it overheat alot and it shut down or hibernate or sleep. so what i did was i put a big fan at max towards my laptop so it wouldnt overheat and it worked but i decided to disconnect it from the tv and use it normally.

but thats when i noticed this problem.

Answer:Screen Brightness Help. Cant Lower it.

This is usually the rather awful and very irritating "Adaptive brightness feature" There are several areas to look at.

I still use an old CRT 19" monitor (Philips 109p4). It displays best, sharpest picture at 1152x864.

But Windows 7 "thinks" and persists that my Philips should be fed with 1600x1200 image (it calls it "Recommended resolution") . But it's too much for my monitor - and the picture quality suffers (everything gets a bit blurry).

What's the problem, one could ask, simply go to the display settings and set the screen resolution to 1152x864. And here's where the tricky part begins! Windows 7 only pretends to let me set lower resolution! The desktop size changes to 1152x864, but the nVidia graphic card still generates 1600x1200 image (which is confirmed by OSD function in my monitor). Thus the smaller desktop gets smoothly (with some kind of antialiasing or rather bilienear texture filtering) magnified (projected) to fit the big phisycal 1600x1200. Result - lack of sharpness.

I can understand that this trick may be usefull for some kind of users with some type of LCD displays. But in my case - CRT - this sucks big time!

How to make Win7 *RELLY* set the resolution to a lower one?

(Win7 RC 7100, nVidia GF 8600GT).

Answer:How to REALLY set lower screen resolution?

This just started this morning.  I noticed that if I left a browser window open for a while (particularly with a white background with black text), when I minimize the window, I can see a faint image of it left behind that fairly quickly (at least for now) fades away on it's own.
I turned off the machine, unplugged all the batteries and the power.  Checked and cleaned all the connections and vents.  Then powered it back up on just main battery (has nearly a full charge) played with brightness just a bit.  At first it wasn't repeating the problem but quickly it's showing up again and I am extremely concerned.
I am still under warranty.  Please advise.  Thank you in advance - best regards.

Answer:Lenovo X220 Tablet (screen just startedshowing signs of screen memory burn in...)

Updated Info:  Problem only happens on the edges of the screen, a little less than an inch in from any edge, top/bottom/left/right and the problem may appear, but anything in the middle and it seems fine.
Doesn't happen if my background is set to solid black.  It's slightly noticeable with a mid-grey tone and it's worse still with a mid to dark grey tone that is tinted with a purple-ish hue.
Could some other x220 owners set their bg color to a dark grey purple color, and try to see if it's just a limitation.  I'm trying to determine if my hardware is failing, or if I just stumbled upon something that for most cases and purposes isn't going to be much of a bother.
Other than recently calibrating my touch and pen input, I haven't made any changes to the system.  Today I installed a new intel graphics driver update from Win update but it didn't change anything.
Thank you all very much.

I recently purchased a brand new HP 15-ac143wm but it goes off without warning when I mistakenly tap the lower left corner close to the track pad and it doesn't come on unless I take out the battery and replace it. The battery even seems kind of loose fitting. Is this a general thing with this model of HP laptops or does mine have a problem? Either ways I want it fixe. How do I go about fixing it?

To start off, I'm using my wifi on both my phone and my laptop. Anyways, whenever I do a speedtest on my phone the ping is always 11ms, but whenever I do a speedtest on my laptop the ping is anywhere between 30 and whatever ms. I literally just did a speedtest on my laptop and got a 112ms ping! Why is the ping different on my phone and laptop and why does it change on my laptop so often?? Also, does test wifi speeds?

Answer:Why is the ping lower on my phone than it is on my laptop?

It depends on what site or app you are using and whether the phone is using WiFi or Cellular when you are running the test.

Ok, I've had this laptop for a year, I've been bored lately decided to go back to play some ps2 emulators. My system was running them kinda slow. I didn't expect it to be super speed but I was curious. So I downloaded CPU-Z, it says my processor is running at a Bus speed of 200.00MHz which is ok, but only a x6 multiplier, which everest says SHOULD be x10. Unfortunatly, I have a locked bios, even after upgrading it. I called Asus support and they're customer service seemed to be reading straight out of a manual, I need help by people with more experience. I paid for a computer that is 2.00GHz processor not 1.2Ghz. What is wierd, is that is randomly spikes, very rarely back up to 2.00Ghz and runs pretty damn fast for the few seconds it is up. Well thx in advance, and let me know if you need anymore info, I'll leave my pc info here:

Asus F50sv x-1
Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T6400 @2.00GHz
Code Name Penryn

AMI Bios ver 205

Manufacturer - Pegatron Corporation
Model - F50sv
Chipset - SiS 671/FX/DX/MX/

I have a client that says the little circles that come up every time he touches the screen is giving him a headache.  Does anyone know how to shutoff the response of the pen each time it touches the screen,  but still have the pen work? Thanks.

Answer:X220 Pen touch on screen: How to disable the circles that show when the pen has touched the screen

You need to disable the cricles that appaers after touching the screen, there is no such option, I would suggest you to please perform the workarounds.
1.To remove fingerprints, etc., from the touch panel display, use a dry, soft, lint-free cloth or a piece of absorbent cotton. Do not apply solvents to the cloth.2. Gently wipe foreign particles and dust from the touch panel with one side of the cloth.3. Wipe smudges or fingerprints with the other side of the cloth, or with a clean cloth.4. After using the cloth, wash it with a neutral detergent.
After this, please check if the issue resolved.

Hello everyone! I am very new here and I have a question that Google has no answer for, as I do not know how to properly describe the problem, so please bear with me.I have an HP Compaq 6000 Pro All-In-One pc that works great, but has a small, yet incredibly annoying issue. When I updated my drivers after reinstalling Windows 7 32bit, my graphics card driver installed AMD Catalyst Control Center and since then, my screen will always malfunction when a lower resolution (native being 1920x1080). At the lower resolution, my screen will duplicate the original image it is trying to show. While the image is duplicated, my screen shakes, which renders any reading on the multiple screens incredibly difficult. This was not an issue BEFORE I updated my driver. Not updating the driver makes it so that I cannot use the native resolution. Can anyone PLEASE help? This has been plaguing me for weeks!

Answer:Screen shaking at lower resolutions...

Quote...reinstalling Windows 7 32bit,Why? A re-install of Windows 7 is justified in a few cases. What did you do? Did you have a reason to not save the drivers? Please look at your user manual. If you did a re-install by the book, it would not be necessary to update the drivers. But I am often wrong. Maybe somebody else knows more.Is this the computer you have?

I constantly get ads in the lower right hand corner of my web browser. When I exit out of them, they reappear once i refresh the page or go to different site. I also am redirected to spam sites often.
I have Malwarebytes, but it is clean.
I am running Windows 7 and primarily use Chrome as my browser, but I find that I have the same problem with other browsers.
Thank you for your help!

I've recently got a ThinkPad T61p from work, and its a great machine, however the native screen resolution comes at 1920 x 1200 which is too much for my eyes ...whenever I change the resolution to a lower value the screen becomes blurry!I searched the net but found nothing that could help, i upgraded the nvidia drivers but that didn't do much good either ...I noticed something though ... in the nvidia control panel, under Display -> Change flat panel scalingthe "use my display's built in scaling" option is grayed out, when i tried to disable scaling all together, the blurryness was gone, but now of course the screen is not filling the display ...usually there is a scaling option in the system bios so i restarted and went into the bios but found nothing there either ...does anybody have the T61p with the same probelm ? any known fix ?

Answer:Blurry Screen on lower resolutions

screen blurring is natural in LCD for resolution anything other than the native resolution..... so its not a problem and there is not lot of things you could do about it... you could attach it to the external screen...

When i am playing a fullscreen game that i cant run at 1920x1080p (my native screen resolution) I turn it to 1280x720p but it makes the picture too wide and really big annoying black borders at the top and bottom. And by "too wide' i mean most of the gui is forced off the screen. I want to know how i can make it fill the screen. I assume that this is even possible because my console makes the picture fit the screen( on the same moniter) at lower resolutions such as 1280x720p. I'd appreciate any help!

Answer:Lower resolutions don't fit screen properly

I'm not into computer games. Maybe someone with experience will chime in. But I know some programs take the screen res when they install and assume that's what you'll be running at. If you change the res later the apps don't always look right. You might try installing again but first setting the screen res to 720P.

I'm trying to figure out if its possible to lower my screen resolution to 800 x 600 on my HP Pavilion Sleekbook 14 - b010us running on Windows 8. I need to do this; its the only way I can get  my pico projector to run using  VGA to HDMI converter - I tried it with my Sony VAIO and it works perfectly. The lowest setting I'm seeing on my HP is 1024 x 768 and thats not working. Any help??? Don't want to have to buy a new projector - this one works just fine and HP laptop has no VGA port

Answer:How to set lower screen resolution on HP Pavilion

I ran into that same issue using the custom resolution option in the Intel driver manager and only had success using low resolution mode.  I had also edited the registry to force more options.  The registry edit resulting in more resolutions between 1366x768 and 1024x768, but nothing lower.  Windows 8 isn't really designed for lower resolutions (at least, that's not the ideal resolutions targeted), so I imagine this would be present on just about any Windows 8 standard notebook.

However, I did come across this site today in an effort to ensure I wasn't overlooking anything...and it appears I was.  I'm not certain how I didn't think to check the advanced settings option to get more resolutions.  This approach doesn't require enabling low resolution mode on reboot, but it will requiring going to screen resolution>advanced settings>list all modes to get the 800x600 option each time you need it.

Let me know if this answered your questions.

Dear community, I'm looking for some help Almost 3 years ago, I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E530 Laptop from a shop in Israel (where I live), as a replacement for my old ThinkPad which was stolen. One of the only things that was really important to me in the specs was that I'll have a 1600x900 screen resolution, as was in the older laptop. I have an archived Facebook conversation with the guy who went to buy the laptop for me explicitly stating this fact.I was very satisfied with the laptop, until recently I had a few problems, one of which was that a green horizontal line would appear and disappear from the screen on occasion. I took the laptop to the repair service (I have a 3-year service plan). They told me they'll have to replace the screen and also to reinstall my Windows. When I received the laptop from the service and turned it on at home, things seemed weird. I checked the resolution, and saw that the screen I got was 1366x768. At first I wasn't sure that my older resolution was 1600x900 (maybe looks can be deceiving), but since I had my Hard Drive backed up before I turned in the laptop for repair, I checked the wallpaper I had for the laptop before, which I specifically downoaded for the resolution I had, and indeed it was 1600x900. Of course, having the 1600x900 for almost three years, I could easily see that I got something which was a lower resolution. I called the service to tell them - and they said that in the parts list on the lenovo website (... my laptop highest resolution is 1300x768. But it doesn't support the 1024x768 in full screen mode. Is there any way to set a lower resolution in full screen.

Thanx in advance.

Answer:Any way to set a lower resolution in full screen?

What kind of graphics card or onboard graphics do you have? You might be able to download some software for your specific card/onboard graphics and tweak from there, perhaps. Other than that I have no idea.

I have two Dell Optiplex 755 PCs. I am using the one that's OK -- to report that my other 755 shows a lower half of the screen as a BSOD. I think it happened when I accidentally hit one of those F keys on top of the keyboard, probably the F12 key. Re-starting the PC causes the same problem. The OS is XP Pro.

Answer:lower half of screen is a BSOD

None of the "related solutions" relates to my problem.

I just received a new Lenovo T61 as my work PC, and when the IT tech was passing it off, he said it might automatically change screen resolution on me. Well, it has, several times in 3 weeks, and it messes everything up, meaning, it screws up the desktop icons I had neatly placed where I wanted them. How frustrating! This automatic resolution change happens randomly, apparently. I always have it set to 1600x1200, but it has switched to something like 1280x800 a few times in the last couple of days. It has happened on waking up from standby, from cold-booting, and just today when I opened it and shut it (I usually have it closed in a docking station using a hp 2025 lcd monitor). Does anyone know how to stop it from doing this, to fix it on 1600x1200 permanently? Thanks.moderator note: type added to title. Message Edited by Agotthelf on 27-03-2009 10:01 AM

Answer:T61: screen resolution automatically changes to lower

mine does the same thing.... frustrating!!!  mine resets to 640x480.  always when it wakes up from a 'sleep'  about 90% of the time, i can reset the resolution, but 10% of the time i must reboot.  happens 2-3 times each DAY... it appears that there is a known problem with the  Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family that is used on the T61. Intel has documented it and has a fix at: But when you run the intel driver update utility, or try to manually install their new driver or the latest (i've tried both, they are 20mb each), it tells you there is a 'manufacture special driver to not update it, but to contact the manufacturer..' and then exits... no option to try it on your own either.  The rev included in the lenovo drivers is and the latest (which presumably includes the fix mentioned in link above) is so looks like someone from lenovo needs to including this intel driver update in the thinkvantage update or we won't be able to install it.  ANYONE FROM LENOVO SEEING THIS AND TAKING ACTION PLEASE?Message Edited by barrycox on 03-20-2009 11:14 AM
