Intermittent/Limited WiFi issue Lenovo X1 Carbon (Gen 3) with Intel AC 7265

Question: Intermittent/Limited WiFi issue Lenovo X1 Carbon (Gen 3) with Intel AC 7265

Intermittent/Limited WiFi issue Lenovo X1 Carbon (Gen 3) with Intel AC 7265 Just started to set up my new laptop that I received a couple weeks back, but it is failing to connect to wireless router. It does connect briefly, but then disconnects and sometimes has 'limited' connectivity. I have tried to diagnose and change settings. This is out of the box. Upgraded everything when I did have some connectivity... still doesn't work.Type: 20BT007AAUWarranty: to Sep 2018 Windows 10 Pro, has a Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265Driver: 18.20.0 (Latest) - according to the ThinkVantage Update and all Latest Windows updates.Tried:a) Driver rollback: 18.11.0b) Disable Norton Internet Security (a new year subscription)c) Change Power setting, so WiFi is always maxd) Other solutions on this forum - changed to g and go back to default a/b/g in Advanced settingse) Modifying below settings:---Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265

Don't need dual band - just want the WiFi to work and be stable as per every other WiFi laptop or device I have had on the networkRouter (DIR-655) is completely fine, I have used it for years, and many other laptops connect and are stable. I put it 1-5m and still it is failing. Reading all the issues this card has a history of issues - why would Lenovo be still putting it in these laptops? What alternative replacement are there that actually work - can I get this changed under warranty? Is there anything else I can try?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Intermittent/Limited WiFi issue Lenovo X1 Carbon (Gen 3) with Intel AC 7265

Just to give this an update. I am still without a working Laptop Wi-Fi. Since raising this issue and contacting Lenovo, they finally managed to ship out a replacement part which was installed by a mobile technician and declared Dead on Arrival.

We have a big issue with Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7265 driver, When used WPA2-Enterprise profiles pushed by Windows GPO, the wifi card authenticates every second using PMKSA. It is a authentication storm that we see in our wifi APs.This does not happen with Intel AC-7260 tested in more than 400 PCs, different HP models but most of them EliteBook 840 G1, or when the profile is manually created (not pushed from a AD GPO).This issue happens only with EliteBook 840 G2 using 7265 card, only with it. Right now, we have this card in all the last delivered HP Elitebook 840G2.We've tried HP original drivers (HP connection Manager), the Intel last drivers with and without PROset (removing previously HP Connection Manager), and some old Intel drivers too, always with the same result. We know the "every second" authentication happens because we have monitored the WIFI netwok with a "monitor" mode card. The  starting outgoing packets are always originated by the 7265 driver. Also, we see the authentication in the wifi APs (enterprise Netgear APs), because we have syslog, and the any Intel 7265 card that connects, starts sending the 4 way handshake for PMKSA (PEAP 25) wifi L2 proto.

Answer:EliteBook 840 G2 and Wifi Intel AC-7265 issue

We have the similar issue on some particular machines with 2.4 Ghz with the particular network adapter. Working on 5 Ghz there are no issues observed. probably we will send the faulty laptop back to HP for repairs.

I have asked this question multiple times in the wifi problems thread about yoga pro 2, but it seems like no official representative seems to be answering our calls of whether it works or not. I want to buy a 7265, NOT 7260 intel card for my lenovo yoga pro 2. I will buy it from wherever Lenovo will advise me to buy. Can you please just tell me which one it works on my laptop and I will buy it immediately! By the way, my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 is made for the Croatian market I think(even though I'm a Macedonian and I bought it from an official Macedonian Lenovo reseller and now my keyboard layout is messed up with croatian letters, but that's another story). Is this BIOS lock active on my model as well like the US models have? Can I exchange my wifi card for whatever wifi card?

Answer:Will the Intel 7265 Wifi Card Work on my Yoga Pro 2 ??

I also have the Yoga 2 Pro and want to upgrade to the 7265. Been looking everywhere and it looks like the form factor and everyting are compatible, the only issue I could see is the card not being on the BIOS whitelist, which seemed to be a problem with people trying to upgrade to 7260s in the past. I called Lenovo tech support and the rep assured me that it will work as long as I have the proper drivers. I am a bit skeptical because he didn't directly confirm that I wouldn't have any issues with the 7265 being on the whitelist.  Either way, I just ordered the card from Amazon. So we will see and I will update when it comes.

Hello, I have an HP Envy which came with Windows 10, and has an Intel 7265 WiFi adapter. I started the setup and was able to see the WiFi connections and connect to two - home and office. Once all the updates completed, I typically used it between the two WiFi locations - both work great. However on a trip, I tried connecting to another WiFi and have since tried about 6 different options and all fail - the "Connecting" message shows and then disappears and no connection has been made. The different WiFi devices include a 2Wire, Dlink Access Points, Cisco Enterprise Access Points, a three different phone based hotspots. All do the same. Debugging steps:1) Update driver. HP's site has a March 2016 driver.2) Installed the Intel AC-7265 driver from 9/20/2016.3) Change settings to switch preferred band to 2.4 GHz and also to 5 GHz and neither make a difference - the Enterprise DLink and Cisco devices work at both frequencies.4) Changed the 801.11 channel widths to 20 MHz only.5) Changed "wireless mode" in the driver to 802.11 a, then g, then a/g and back to the default a/b/g. Did all of the above with the firewall on Bitdefender turned off. None of these worked, so figured I would post here, to see if maybe someone else has had something similar and did get a resolution. Any assistance is appreciated.

Upgrading several T61s both with CPUs and WIFI cards.  Have some with bluetooth some not.  Bluetooth card is inside display screen and would prefer to leave that alone.  Was looking at replacing current b/g wifi cards with a faster one and if possible a combo wifi and bluetooth card.  Will install middleton BIOS to get around whitelist. Will be running Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Ultimate in the T61s1.  Will the Intel Wireless-AC 7265 cards work with both wifi and bluetooth in the T61s?2.  Can I somehow disable either the existing bluetooth adapters or the bluetooth in the 7265 cards so I do not get conflicts with 2 bluetooth adapters.I am assuming I can download the drivers for the new adapters from the internet.

I used dell to detect my system and then recommend drivers.  It recommended an update for my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260.  My current driver is version 18.33.3.2.  Dell recommended an update to 18.40.0.9. However, the file that actually downloaded is for version 18.20.0.9 (Network_Driver_VJY7Y_WN32_18.20.0.9_A01.EXE - this is how it shows in my windows explorer).  I guess it could just be a mislabeling by someone and it is the newest version.  But the system detects that it is at least listed as being older than my current version and stops the install.

Dell should correct this.  Do you know if there is actually an update to my version?  Link to driver page below:

Answer:Wrong driver for Intel 8260/7265/7260/3165/3160 WiFi Driver

There could be but we would need to know what computer you are running.  You can also go to downloads.dell.com, select your computer and it will show a list of every driver available for every operating system compatible with your system.

I recently purchased a Lenovo T400 with the Intel 5350 wireless card (same as the 5300 but with WiMax), and, like a lot of other people on this forum, I could not get the wifi to consistently work. I spent several frustrating days searching these forums and trying pretty much every solution offered (XP 32 bit, Vista 32 bit, Vista 64 bit, w/ & w/out Access Connections, w/ & w/out Intel software, Lenovo drivers vs. Intel drivers, etc.). However, in the end, the solution was totally unrelated. What I found was that when I was using WEP security on my Linksys WRT54G router (v5 w/ the latest firmware) I could not get wifi to work consistently. In most cases it was hard to get it to work at all. In other cases it might work after a reboot for a few minutes, then stop working again. However, as soon as I either turned off security or changed it to WPA2-Personal, wifi worked like a charm. I was originally thinking about returning the laptop, since no wifi makes it pretty much unusable. But, with this finding I think I will keep it. Since it is obviously a driver issue, I'm going to assume there will be a driver update in the near future to fix the problem. Hope this helps some of you who are having the same problems!

Answer:Intel 5300/5350 Intermittent Wifi Solution - Don't use WEP security!

That is a fascinating solution to the intermittent mess the Intel cards can go into. Never would have thought secrurity and encryption would affect the performance. For what it's worth, go into the properties of the wireless card in Device Manager. Go to the Advanced Tab. Set "Roaming Aggressiveness" slider to the lowest, "Power Managment" to lowest, and "Transmit Power" to highest. These were solutiosn that I've run across and fixed the problem for me (I have the regular 5300, hope you will get to use and enjoy WiMax).

So ever since I got the T430s in early January, the WiFi card has been giving me trouble. It would sometimes be working fine for an entire day, then the next day when I use the laptop, it would disconnect from WiFi several times on the hour. The connectivity icon will show full bars if wireless is working and maybe 3 different icons if not (full bars with a yellow triangle, 4/5 bars, or just plain no bars with a red x). Answer:T430s Intermittent WiFi Problem - Intel Centrino 6205

Hey there MacPod and welcome to the forums!

What kind of router are you using? And is the HP Windows 8 as well? If the router is produced/manufactured by Cisco, Windows 8 has been having some conflicts with some Cisco Routers. The solution for this is a firmware update for your router, which you may also want to try even if your not using a Cisco specific router.

Additionally, I am seeing an update for the Intel Centrino 6205 driver on 1-30-13 to version 15.5.7 that may be worth taking a look into.

A work around that I saw over on the Intel Site suggested to:
Device Manager > Intel Centrino 6205 adapter properties > Advanced Tab > 802.11n mode - SET TO DISABLE

I hope some of these suggestions will help.

I recently purchased a Pavilion 17t at Costco. Overall, I'm liking the  computer. But it has one major issue, that is unacceptable for a laptop computer. The wifi keeps not working. I haven't found a pattern to this either. I will be connected to my wifi network, and then suddenly the internet will stop working. It still shows connected to the router, but can't reach the internet. I have contacted HP support twice about this now, and their solution has not resolved the issue. The BIOS has been updated, the driver has been updated, Windows 10 has been updated, the wireless driver has been uninstalled and reinstalled. I still have the issue. If I attempt a restart when this happens, the restart takes a very, very long time. I've clocked it at 2 minutes before I did a manual power button restart on it. But the restart issue seems to happen every time the wifi issue happens(assuming I do a restart). I've tried turning the wifi off and on, and that proves difficult. It will often turn back on as soon as I turn it off, or not respond at all to my attempts. If I connect a wired connection to the laptop, I am able to connect to the internet again. All other devices on the wireless router will continue to work fine when this computer does not. What would be my next steps to try and resolve this issue? What more information might you need from me? HP Pavilion 17-g133-cl

Answer:WiFi limited connectivity issues (Intel AC 3165)

(Edits: Add product and OS info, correct a few grammatical mistakes. Add the "Click 'OK'" step.) Alright, I've been all over the internet trying to fix this as I had the same experience. I've found a solution and I signed up on these forums just to post it. This problem has been a nightmare and I wanted to share. My machine is also the HP Pavilion 17 G1337-CL, which has the Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless ac3165. When I went just a few minutes without accessing the internet it would close down. I could have a browser window open, but if I was not actively sending or receiving data, the connection would shut down. This is the two part solution (Windows 10): PART 1Right-click windows start menuSelect "Device Manager"Open the "Network adapters" drop downRight-click "Inter(R) Dual Band Wireless AC-3165"Select "Properties"Select "Power Management" tabUncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"Click "Ok" PART 2Right-click "RealTek PCIe FE Family Controller"Select "Properties"Select "Power Management" tabUncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"Click "Ok" Restart the computer (don't know if it is necessary, but I always restart) That fixed it for me. I had found Part 1 on a number of forums, but I had to figure out Part 2 on my own. I have been searching the forums and other sources to fix my wifi issues (checking drivers, changing adapter setttings etc) without success. Other devices in the same position and the same access point get good signals (quality 75%+) and connect with high throughput (5 GHz N or AC). The Yoga 15 signal is poor (quality 25% or so) and will not connect. Suspect this will be a warranty return or even a refund. I noticed most forum entries are about the 7260 wifi card so just wanted to check if anyone had overcome similar problems with the 7265? Thanks in advance.

This is driving me mad. I've been through multiple forums/Intel's support site/Dell's support site/Microsoft's support site...and nobody seems to have a straight solution.

My new laptop came with Windows 8 pre-installed. I updated all drivers from Dell's website and installed the latest Intel PROSet WIFI drivers v15.6.0.0. I have not installed any anti-virus software and I don't see any installed by Dell. I'm not using any extra firewall software beyond the native windows one and I have not changed it;s configuration. Any software out there that can scan your PC for A-V and/or firewall issues?

None of my other devices have any connectivity issues at all. If I use an Ethernet cable the laptop works perfectly so it's definitely a WIFI issue.

I've disabled the Bluetooth adapter and the Ethernet adapter so that only the WIFI adapter is left enabled. I've tried disabling the Intel drivers and just using Windows to connect. I've tried using fixed IP address instead of DHCP. I've reset the router...basically I've tried all of the obvious things. I also tried the suggestions to use command line instruction to reset the IP stack/etc...but they had no effect.
I feel like it's the drivers themselves. Should I remove the Intel drivers completely?

Answer:Win8 Intel WIFI limited connectivity / invalid IP config

Welcome to the forum Rob.

Do the other systems have WiFi working because according to your ipconfig/all you aren't picking up anything from the router here.

When you reset the router, did you hold down the hidden button on the side for 30 seconds or did you just reboot the router?

Assuming the router is working and other wireless devices can connect.

Have you tried removing the preinstalled trial version A/V software which is typically preinstalled on your factory Dell system?

Depending on which one is installed you would need to use the special removal tool to get rid of it completely or problems will ensue.

It can also help to remove all the preinstalled bloatware from your new system. Decrapifier will locate those preinstalled programs so that they can safely be removed.

Hi,

I just bought a Sony Vaio with Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 Network Adapter.

I primarily use the notebook at my home & office network.
Home Network Router: Linksys WRT54G
Office Network Router: Beetel 450BXi (ADSL2+Modem)

The issue am facing is while am on to the network (mostly home network) suddenly it goes into limited connectivity & gets disconnected; while other PC's remain connected.

And then you have to either re-install the Wireless LAN driver or re-start numerous times.

This has been happening regularly. Pls assist in resolving the issue.

Hello,

I have an Intel NUC (D54250WYK) running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and has been working fine up until a few weeks ago, and the issue is intermittent making it difficult to troubleshoot.

Every 2-3 times when the NUC wakes up, my remote control is no longer able to control the system. A simple reboot resolves the issue for a day or two, but then it comes back. One thing in particular that I found odd, is that the remote control is actually able to wake up the PC, but once Windows is up and running again it no longer accepts commands from the remote.

I've completely removed the drivers and reinstalled but it hasn't corrected the issue. And none of my searches so far have yielded any solution to fix the problem.

The Infrared receiver on the NUC is "Nuvoton Consumer Infrared (CIR) Driver for Windows 7 for Intel NUC"

I bought about 2,5 months ago the Lenovo Z50-70 (i7, 64bit, Win10). I installed all the latest Win10 updates and Lenovo updates, and my WiFi adapter drivers remain the 17.15.0.5. I downloaded the latest from intel (18.32.0) and I can't get to apply them-I run the driver's program and nothing happens. My drivers continue to be the 17.15.0.5. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Z50-70 CANNOT UPDATE Intel WiFi adapter drivers (Intel AC 3160)

What WiFi adapter is shown in Device manager? I have been scheptical of whether the current Lenovo offerings are up to speed on Win 10 many drivers are 1st releases. They pulled the listing for drivers on the T520 and I updated that just to see what might happen although I got it working its sluggish for that system. WiFi is marginal with the MS drivers and Lenovo offers nothing for it now. I tried to search on my Z70 but I was unable to determine which adapter was specifically installed. 3 were listed in Lenovo build spec's but that still did not tell me which one is in only the family name.

Hello, I received today my machine (CPU: 7500U, RAM: 16Gb, Hard drive: 512Gb, Display: FHD) and was suprised to find out that the machine doesn't have the blazing fast Samsung PM961 SSD hard drive, but instead it has the INTEL SSDPEKKF512G7L, which max read speed is about 1800Mb and max write speed is about 550Mb (you can see its performance on Intel's website). I ran CrystalDiskMark and it confirmed my concerns. I would not mind if Intel's performance were close to Samsung's.. I saw the review on Notebookcheck.net and assumed that X1 Gen5 arrives with Samsung PM961 SSD by default (as you can see on one of the tables provided on the page). Did I get a "cheap" version of X1 gen5 with an inferior hard drive? or perhaps it is common to find different hard drives in the X1 series? Thanks in advance!

My laptop will no longer connect to the internet. It can't even locate available WIFI. After troubleshooting the following problems were found: "The Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 adapter  is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems""A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken"    As for the 2nd problem, all of our other devices are connecting just fine to the internet so it has to be the first problem. I have 46 days left in my warranty. Where the heck do I even take my laptop to get looked at? Can I do anything to resolve the problem at home? HELP please!

It says successful afterwards but when i check again in a day or 2 there a new update again. It's the same driver that was updated in august 2017. I'm not sure what is going on.

This is what I get whenever I try to install it manually. I chose 'repair'.
after all that. I checked again it says there's an update available for that particular driver.

This slows down my browser. I'm not sure if this is normal.

Checked that firmware is up to date on my network router, with security set to WPA 2-PSK (AES).3. Searched through many forums to read responses of folks upgrading to Windows 10 with WiFi issues--seems this is widespread problem, though no one has said WiFi signal loss was intermittent, as is my laptop's. Internet hits for my searches also show WiFi issues occurred in the past for installs of Windows 8. (So far have not come across mentions of WiFi issues for past installs of Windows 7).4. I experience the following problem with a new one week old Lenovo X220 built with Intel Advanced-N 6205: After 3-5 hours it disconnects from a wifi router and would not be able to connect to it until I reboot the router. It happened the first time on Friday, I was connected to our Verizon FIOS router and after 5 hours I lost connection and won't be able to connect for 2 hours trying every possible thing until I rebooted  the router, what I didn't have to do with countless number of other laptops/cell phones. Now X220 loses wifi connection every 3 hours and won't be able to connect until the router is restarted. All other devices in a house work perfectly fine, my roommates probably already hate me for rebooting the router. Router: Actiontec M1424WR (Verizon FIOS) Other devices which were and still are able maintain connections with this router for many hours w/o similar problem:- my old Dell Latitude E6400- my Samsung Captivate cell phoneand bunch of other HP laptops, macbooks etc. What I tried and what did not help:- rebooting X220- turning X20 off/on- installing the latest drivers for Intel 6205 card for the Intel website- installing/uninstalling Intel Wifi tools and Access Connections- restoring from a backup (not a complete factory setting restore)- setting DNS/IPs manually for IPv4 and turning off IPv6 I tried to collect some logging with netsh tracing and it only tells that the driver disconnects during acquisition. Some clue I dis... Answer:Wifi issue with X220 (intel wifi card); It stops connecting to a router after 3 hours

When it is reproducible in Win 7, went to Ubuntu Live CD and everything works there. So the problem is either inside:- router- Win 7 Intel 6205 drivers including shipped and the latest one  I don't think it is that low level though as I thought, as in Win 7 it tries to reconnect each time disconnecting during "Identifying Network" stage, and setting IP, gateway and DNS manually do not help.  UPDATE: I was able to update Verizon FIOS router to the latest firmware and switched it from WEP to WPA just in case.

I was wondering if anyone is having the same issue I am having. I have a HP Envy m7-n101dx notebook with an Intel ac 7265 dual band wireless adapter running 64bit Windows 10.  The wifi speed is very poor. I have an arris surfboard 6900ac modem/router. I have 300 mb/s internet service. Wired the modem gets about 350 mb/s. On wifi on the 5gz band I have a macbook that regulary gets 180-240 mb/s speeds. I also have a 5 plus year old macbook that gets 150-180 mb/s speeds. Our phones get 100-150 mb/s speeds. But this computer usually only gets about 50-80 mb/s speeds. Often it can dip below those speeds. If I open my router to 8 channels, the speeds will drop to about 8 mb/s.  Very rarely will it get upto 100 mb/s speeds. But it never gets close to the speeds it is rated to get.  I was wondering if anyone was having the same problem and if they have a solution? I have updated drivers, rolled drivers back, dowloaded directly from the intel site, and deleted and reinstalled the network adapter. Nothing has worked.

Hi, I am hoping someone here can help me with an issue. I have a Lenovo G500 Laptop which is around 18 months old. The laptop has no issues and was connecting to the network until about 2 weeks ago. Now, I am unable to connect to my wifi network at home. Some forum members have reported a variety of Wifi issues with their G505 laptops. Their reports range from showing "Connection is limited", to Wifi connections dropping repeatedly, to being unable to make a Wifi connection at all. I combined multiple threads in order to assist forum members with troubleshooting solutions.

If your G505 was upgraded to Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and then lost connectivity, or you recently purchased a G505 running Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and are unable to connect, try following the instructions posted by Vikramsbox to restore the connection through the Lenovo Communications Utility.

For non-Windows 8.0 or 8.1 users, start troubleshooting with the basics:

The most recent WLAN, BIOS, and Power Management drivers from Lenovo can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g505-no...
It is also good practice to verify your Wifi is activated by following the instructions from Neokenchi.
Check Power Management settings to ensure your laptop isn't turning off the Wifi as noted by Dannyk1.
Check to see that Airplane Mode is set to OFF by following the instructions provided by Shiv_K.

After trying those steps, if you still experience a Wifi issue with your G505, other troubleshooting steps have been noted in this thread. This includes a whitelist of accepted replacement WLAN cards posted by Topmahof and a 3rd party driver which resolved wifi issues fo... Read more

I can disconnect from the router and reconnect, and it will fix the issue temporarily. Connectivity is fine with all other devices and was fine with the previous laptop just a day before I purchased this one. Please advise. Thank you in advance.

i have a lenovo idea pad that will connect to wifi but says limited connection. i can use the iternet via ethernet cable with no issues. My ISP is comcast and i have one of their modems that came with wifi im guessing it doubles as a router seeing i direct connect to it with my laptop. however my wifi works for my xbox one, a nexus 7 tablet a xbox 360 ,a printer and two smartphones with no issues what so ever. they are not all on at once so max connections shouldnt be a issue. ive spent hours on the phone with comcast and they insist its the laptop and not the wifi any ideas on how to go about fixing the issue. ive checked the drivers and their up to date then uninstalled and reinstalled still no luck. i use firefox for browsing and AVG for antivirus

Open PowerShell or command line and type the following command in the shell console window: netsh wlan show all Hit enter and poste the output here... It's better to use the PowerShell for easier copying. But if you never worked with this shell maybe the normal cmd shell is the better choice.

Hello,  I wanted to clear some issues about my HP Pavilion laptop, I have searched online and most things havent worked for me, I have realised that my wifi usually goes to limited connectivity when either I take my laptop off my lap and place onto my bed (perhaps its because the fans cannot push the hot air out because they are being blocked?) and when I put my charger in. To temporarily fix this I have been going onto the "Network and Sharing Centre" and disabling and re-enabling my wifi, however sometimes I have noticed that I disable it and when I try to re-enable it stays as disabled so.. I hope someone from the support team can help me out, thanks.

HiMy G500 randomly drops my wifi connection after i have been connected for about 30 minutes. It will say limited connection, i then have to manually disconect and reconnect to my wifi to get internet access. After I have done this the G500 will continue to disconect every couple of minutes making it unusable. The laptop has been doing this pretty much since i bought it. Please help as I am not very happy with it. It also fails to boot randomly and I have to remove the battery and hold the shut down key for 30 seconds which is also very frustrating. Is there a permanent fix for this problem? Guy

hi guyrudkin,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can we try setting a generic Inbox Driver.

Open Device Manager and look under Network adapters
Check what's your wireless device and Uninstall it (rightclick and select update driver)
Select Browse my computer for driver software
Select Let me pick from a list of driver software.
Now select a driver from a list that says Microsoft or WDM
Observe the performance if it will be much better.

Let me know your findings
Cheers!

Answer:Lenovo g700 wifi problem "Limited access" or no internet connection

Here are some solutions to try if you can't connect to Wi-Fi. Follow the below mentioned steps to resolve the problem:1. Delete the network and let Windows re-find it. Then enter the password again.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/get-online-tutorial2. Change TCP/IP settings, if the IP address is set to manualhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/change-tcp-ip-settings#1TC=windows-73. If none of the above steps work, follow the below mentioned link to resolve the issue:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/cant-connect-to-network#1TC=windows-8

If it is an intel card go directly to Intel's website and download Intel proset wifi software. Download InSSider, a program that will tell you which of the channels are less congested. Try to determine which channel in your area is less crowded and set your router to that channel. Observed if your problem is solve. Note: I'm assuming that your router and wifi card are compatible to each other.

I'm posting this in the hope the hope that it may help someone else.  I have a G580, model 20150 with Windows 8.1 and the Broadcom wifi card.  Like many of you, I had the limited Access dropout issue.  Here's the things I can remember trying previously: Switching from the Microsoft Broadcom driver to the Broadcom driver.Turning off power management on the Broadcom driverSetting IBSS mode to just b/gDisable Bluetooth collaboration.Disabling all things power managment I could find.etc... The thing I found that seemed to fix it once and for all is going to the Advanced properties of the Broadcom and disabling "WMM".  As I understand it, WMM is a QoS feature for prioritizing audio/video port traffic over data.  Supposedly, you can't take advantage of wireless N speeds with WMM off, but I'll trade performance for not having to reconnect every 15 minutes. I'm not going to mess with telling you how to disable WMM since there are tons of instructions and discussions on the interwebs.  I also can't guarantee that it wasn't a combination of WMM and other fixes that solved my problem because I'm not willing to experiment on my finally working pc.  My system has been constantly connected and going strong for 12 hours.   Good luck and I hope this helps.

Hi Guys, Other day I as usual opened my X1 Carbon lid and found out that it's screen stopped working. The keys and all the lights worked as usual. Since it was one month after my warranty ended and I had an issue required replacement of the screen before (Lenovo quoted it around $600) I ordered a new screen and later replaced it. Did not help. I've noticed plenty of people on this forum had similar problem. And it looks like it is not related to the screen. Has anyone found a solution except fixing it by warranty? Thanks!

Answer:Lenovo X1 Carbon blank screen issue

i assume it is the first generation X1 Carbon? On your other posts at the end of June, you mentioned that you had similar issue as someone else, where the laptop gets stuck trying to enter BIOS menu?

Recently my trusted X1 Carbon, which had a normal battery life after about 5 years of use, of about an hour or so.  Recently this suddenly changed to 15 mins so I thought it was time to change the battery.  After buying a "new" battery off of eBay, giving it a full charge and pulling the power cable to test it something strange happened... It first said that there was approximately 2+ hours of normal operation, so I continued to use it.  It seemed to operate normal but after about 50 mins or so when the battery was apparenly at 68%, it just jumped to 15% and went into low power mode. Does anyone know if this is a problem with the battery or is there an underlying issue? Any drivers or firmware I should be upgrading. Thanks in advanceKW

I was recently given a Lenovo X1 Carbon and it has Windows 10 version 1511 (OS Build 10586.104). The USB port on the right side, which I believe is the 3.0 port doesn't function. When I connect a flash drive to this port, the light on flash drive comes on for couple of seconds and turns of. I am not sure if this is a hardware or a software issue. Here is the screenshot of USB controllers in Device manager. I read previous threads with similar issues, but did not find a solution. (I tried to unisntall device drivers, restart and re-install the drivers. It did not help)

The USB port on the right is on a separate audio card. I have seen them fail. I would first examine the port and look for bent pins

Hello! I just bought a Lenovo B580 59-339463 (i5 3210m Ivy Bridge)  laptop, installed Win7, installed all drivers on the dvd (including the 3 wlan drivers - intel/realte/broadcom - not sure this was a smart move) only to find that I am unable to connect usign the wifi. I've been browsing round the web for the past 2 hours, but nothing seemed to help.WiFi is turned on (in BIOS, in device manager, in adaptor settings in fn+f5) The WiFi connections just don't show up in the list of network connections When diagnosing the WiFI connection I receive a message informing me that the "Wireless adapter is experieincing problems" and then this message: "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter. Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter." Intel ProSet/WiFi tools -> Diagnostics -> Hardware Test FAILED. The wireless adapter is disabled or uninstalled                                                                         Software Test PASSED Since i'm rather new at all this, never having owned a laptop before, I've completely ran out of ideas. So I turn to you, maybe you know what to make of all this. Thanks!

Then I unplug the battery cord and put the computer in "Sleep" mode. The laptop usually uses only 10% of battery throughout the night in "Sleep" mode. Hi, I recently bought an X1 carbon and today after the laptos has been left for a while (2 weeks) maybe with the battery drained, I tried to boot and the only thing I get is flashing light on the power button and touch function pad too.Keyboar lights as well for less than a second and the thinkpad red light too. Tried to leave it charging for a while with no good result. Tried pressing the reset button in the back for 3 seconds and for 10 seconds with no luck. Any help? Thanks.Shame I only used for 2 months. So disapointed!!!! C.

Answer:Lenovo X1 Carbon 20a7-002jus Boot issue, lights flashing

I just have the same issue on my X1 Carbon, mine is 20A7-002WUS.Got it in May, being using it just fine, no dropped, it's been baby pretty much. I left Canada for Taiwan just yesterday for 3 month vacation...and at the aiport while I was waiting to board...it wouldnt boot up...landed in Taiwan like 10 hrs ago, gave it another tried, same disapoointed result, the light just kepts on flasshing. Very disapointed by Lenovo product this time. I got tired of having to purchase an Asus every 2 years, so i got the X1 carbon this time, since their legendary business laptop quality...but this is very disappointed. And on top of this, the HDMI would not export audio signal. THere's a post for that too, and Lenovo tech had pretty much being useless for it. I work in IT industry as well, pretty much all the standard troubling shotting i've done along with a few "tips" from Lenovo, NONE of them work. Very disappointed. To be honest, if it isnt i've just spent like two gram canadian dollars on it like 5 month ago, I would very much like to set this thing on fire atm.

This is my third X1 (all different generations) and I was very happy up till now. The problematic one has a Skylake processor and 512GB SSD and it seemed like a really nice config. The problem is that it doesn't want to shutdown nor wake up from sleep.First symptom: when shutting down, the pc seems to have shut down, but is still draining battery. If the keyboard FN-lock button is lighted, you can notice that this stays on. Also the fan will stay on if it was running before. The keyboard is even still responsive and you can turn on and off the different LEDs.Second symptom: when the pc goes to sleep, there is no waking it up. Also here the keyboard stays responsive for fn-lock etc.I've tried many things: reinstall windows 10 from scratch, reset the bios, upgrade the bios. Then Lenovo was actually very helpful to start: they swapped out the motherboard and when that didn't work, shipped the pc to a repair center. From here it went downhil: the repair was done in less than 5 hours according to the ticket (so I was impressed) but when I got the pc back I noticed why: they didn't repair it. They put on an image of windows 7 and since there the problem was not visible, called it fixed. Very frustrating. I put back windows 10 and guess what: the problem was exactly the same. When they shipped the pc, they had created a new ticket in the system, closing the original one. Now they even closed the second ticket although I already commented that the pc still doesn't work as it is supposed... Read more

Howdy

I recently started an internship in Egypt about a week ago. When I first got here the wireless internet worked fine (albeit a bit slow) in my apartment and around the campus. However last thrusday the Wifi on my laptop quit working. I have a Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN that has Windows 7 RC on it right now. The adapter picks up the signal but when you try and connect it gives 'limited connectivity " = no internet. I tried using the Troubleshooter but when used it just says that The Diagonostic Policy service is not running and therefore it cannot fix the the problem. I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this problem.

Thanks

try this either set a hard coded dns

or hard code the ip if you know what your network ip address numbers are
that your access point uses

so say some thing like
this is very very common here

IP: 192.168.1. 100-150
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY:192.168.1.1

and find a dsn server

dont use them numbers there just make sure that your using the right set for the network that your connecting too
i have the same card in my laptop and its a work horse and some

also is the network that your connecting too secure make sure you have your settings right

Hi, I have an Intel wireless adaptor.  I keep getting disconnected from Wifi.  When I reconnect, it never remembers my wifi password.  I had this problem previously but upgrading to windows 8.1 last year solved it.  I have tried all of the fixes for the broadcom wireless adaptor but they don't work including updating drivers, changing b/g settings, changing "allow power manager to turn off this device" etc.  When I try to download the most up to date version of the Intel driver from your website, it tells me it is pre-installed with windows 8.  Please help.  I have spend 6 hours trying to fix this.

My X1C 2012 model has been running perfectly with a Gigabyte GM-M7700B Bluetooth mouse - that was until the latest Lenovo Bluetooth driver upgrade.  ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPadVersion: 6.5.1.4500 This driver has introduced a double clicking issue with the left button of the mouse. I can't begin to describe how frustrating this problem is and the amount of work I have lost due to closing one page only to find that another program has also been closed. I have tired this mouse on my desktop, an Android tablet - no double clicking issue. The problem is not the mouse, after testing, the problem is not the internal Bluetooth module, the problem IS the new version of the Lenovo driver. It appears as though the driver is set-up that confirmation is set when the mouse button is pressed down - On contact. It also confirms when the button is let go - On release. This has nothing to do with the Broadcome Bluetooth module inside the X1C. I can turn off the Bluetooth module inside the X1C and plug in a Bluetooth receiver into one of the USB ports on the X1C and I can replicate the problem. This is a driver issue. I should also point out that I have uninstalled the Bluetooth driver and reinstalled it to get the same problem. After the upgrade I performed a "Reset this PC" with "Keep my files". Periodically the wifi will die. No networks will appear in the list in the pane which appears when one clicks the icon at the bottom right. The fastest way to fix it is to click the left-most button twice, which seems to disable/re-enable and automatically reconnect to the network. I have checked the router. The problem is not manifesting on another Lenovo laptop upgraded the same way. I am using the latest available network driver. So far I haven't performed a clean install due to the time it will take. Let me guess a clean install will solve?

Answer:WIFI intermittent on a Lenovo T420 upgrade Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

Maybe Windows Update replaced the WiFi driver and the new one is not 100% compatible with your model. Try installing the driver from Lenovo's site. To keep Windows Update from replacing it again, see this post of how to hide the relevant updates so they are excluded.

Hi I recently purchased the U41 Series laptop, with i5 (5th Gen) ,4 GB Ram, 1 TB SSHD , 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE. It has an Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC3160 adapter. Now, I am facing a lot of issues due to this adapter. Firstly, the connection is very unstable. It drops out anytime, and speed also fluctuates a lot. Secondly, when I am in my room, all other devices, including a 5 year old Lenovo laptop can acccess a Wifi network, but the U41 fails to access and if it does, it frequently disconnects. Read online for a lot of solutions, it is faced by all the users of this adapter, but had no luck. Please look into this matter, and if necessary, call for a replacement of the wireless adapter. It would be good on Lenovo's part if it does so. It is really frustrating to buy a Notebook with such good configs & then facing such issues !!.

Hey guys, I've been a X61T(tablet) user for over 2 years now and have never had WiFi connection issues, whatsoever. I upgraded to Windows 7 last year and things only got better.  But, today, after uninstalling a program called "Connectify", that basically transforms your laptop into a WiFi hotspot, my Wireless Radio JUST WON'T SWITCH ON! My Wireless Radio switch(that's in front) is on(I pushed it to the right). Up until yesterday, it was working great. I even used my Wireless Network to create a WiFi hotspot using Coonectify. I also deleted it from Connectify because it wasn't working. And then, I just uninstalled Connectify because I didn't see a point in creating a hotspot, when I have a Wireless Router at home. I rebooted my PC and Viola --- WIRELESS RADIO HAS BEEN DEAD! I don't see the green LED for WiFi on the extreme left blinking anymore. Gone!  Went to Device Manager and I didn't see any problems with the Intel WiFi Link 4695 Device driver. I still uninstalled it and downloaded the most recent one. STILL NOT WORKING! I checked the registries to see if I can find any entries from Connectify that may be causing the problem, but Nada! Nothing there as well! I'm feeling pretty downbeat because I got a new Wireless Router yesterday NETGEAR N-150 and not even 24 hours later, I'm back to using ETHERNET cable! I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out here! Thanks.

I have a Lenovo G505 laptop. I'm not 100% sure if it's a Thinkpad or Ideapad. My problem is that my Wifi internet connection keeps disconnecting or it becomes limited. This usually happens within the first 5 minutes of going online. The way I correct this is I click on my network and click disconnect  and then click reconnect. This usually corrects the problem, But sometimes it happens again during the same session. I've had Verizon out to check on my connection and signal strength. They even replaced the router. There doesn't seem to be any issue with my ISP. My son daughters laptop both work fine with no interuptions and they are on a different floor than the router. I am only about 20 feet and in the same room as the router. I'm not computer savy, I know just enough to get by. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need help.

After fighting with this for way too long, I figured it out: uninstall AMD Quick Stream. Its AppEx Network Accelerator bit completely destroys the G505's wifi.

Hey guys firstly thanks for taking the time to read my thread.

Recently completed a custom install of Windows 7 64bit version. Have installed all the Windows updates and drivers from HP.

My wireless adapter will connect to my network with static ip address set manually but the 'automatically detect settings' option will not work and I receive the message "Unidentified Network" in the task bar.

Any help will be appreciated.

_______

**SOLUTION**

1. Reset router and apply settings again. (**Remember to write down any user names and passwords used for your ISP**)

2. Use WPA2-PSK security rather than WPA

3. Connect to network using network password

When I turn on the auto settings I see it comes up with some wacky ip address that isn't even in the range of my network

For the past few months, my Lenovo G505 computer (running windows 8.1) has been telling me that its wifi connection is "limited". It used to work well on the wifi (same router) and I have restarted the router several times, but to no prevail. The wifi problem is only for my two private wifi connections, and the computer can work fine on any other wifi. I do not know how to fix this, or where to begin, and would prefer not changing my computer's os to something lower such as windows 8. Please comment if you know how I should fix this.

Answer:"Limited wifi" problem for Lenovo G505

Usually is a router that is causing the limited issue, not the computer.
