x250 w/ EM7345 4G LTE + Windows 7 64bit + Lenovo Access = Ridiculousness.

Question: x250 w/ EM7345 4G LTE + Windows 7 64bit + Lenovo Access = Ridiculousness.

I recently ordered 2 laptops about a month ago. I've been foloowing such forums of:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Tablets/Sierra-Wireless-EM7345-ThinkPad-8-and-10-general-issue...and have similar results. For whatever reason, the card disables itself. I've checked the internals and its seated properly. I've even reseated. I can only go by what my user, in the field has provided me information about. It'll work sometimes. When I remoted in last time, I disable and re-enabled it. I changed "automatic" to specifics of verizon connection (vzinternet) and changed to override to automatic dhcp ip. The system seems to have worked for 7 days. It doesn't work again. When it disables itself, device manager says its working fine. Access Connection software from Lenovo freezes up, crashes, or stalls and eventuall kicks back to wifi. At this point there is no point in contacting support, due to it being a field system with proprietary software. Knowing that both systems have this problem, I doubt its a hardware problem (other than having the wrong untested card to begin with). The only other suggestion from lenovo would be to reload the system, which is not an option in the field. Therefore I'm faced with sending the user a mifi card from Verizon, because a $200-$300 internal card wont work properly. I'd ask for a refund if I had enough in the budget to order 4 new laptops. (I say 4, because our upgraded/fresh[tried both] win8>10 systems refuse to shutdown without holding down the power button. fast boot not enabled. We moved from dell because they had a current malfunction rate of 86% this year(mostly hardware). Lenovo rate has been just below 70%(mostly drivers). I don't know what happened. The x240's were PERFECT. how does the x250 have this problem?

Preferred Solution: x250 w/ EM7345 4G LTE + Windows 7 64bit + Lenovo Access = Ridiculousness.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: x250 w/ EM7345 4G LTE + Windows 7 64bit + Lenovo Access = Ridiculousness.

Have you tried older EM7345 firmware versions ? Unfortunately the version I use (in EU) which works so-so is not Verizon specific so it can not help.

After installing Windows Fall creators update 1709 my Sierra EM7345 almost doesn't work. When I establish the connection everything works fine, but only for 15-30 seconds, then connection goes away. Ping 8.8.8.8 starts throwing error: General failure. I tried installing newest driver from lenovo support, but situation hasn't changed. Driver properties screenshot attached.

Hi all,
I got my 5th thinkpad devices X250 since Feb,2015, and I bought a em7345 module from Chinese C2C paltfrom taobao.com
When I use win7 os,it is ok and updatable
but when I change my os to win10 , problem occurs.
I downloaded the newest drivers from support.lenovo.com and installed
File directory C:\ProgramData\Intel\LENOVO MBIM Toolkit\FirmwareDatabase\PreInstalled existed.
The newest version is FIH7160_V1.2_WW_01.1529.06_TS_NAND.fls
But when I launch intel MBIM firmware updated,it shows :
"Device not found or removed"
device information and sim information was all blank

When I add flz files downloaded from rokuta.com, it's also not updatable

But I can use the sim internet service
What a [skipped] thing!
Here are some feedbacks after I run "cmd".

Hello, I'm thinking to buy ThinkPad Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250. I?ve few questions, Pease suggest ...1. Is it really any good and practically beneficial?2. Can I use it on Fedora 27, How?s Linux support?3. X250 has two PCI Express M.2 card slot and one is already occupied by WLAN Card and other slot is available, Can I use empty slot for FRU-04X6014?4. Can I use both WLAN and WWAN simultaneously?5. What is the impact on battery (Windows and Linux)?6. Is AliExpress a good place to buy? Thankyou

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250

Regarding your questions:1) I personally use it and it's really good, as I don't want to use additional USB modem or WWAN wireless router.2) Can't say, as I don't use Fedora.3) There's a dedicated port for this module. Please make sure, that you have an antenna connectors for module and adapter for a SIM card. Moreover, instead of WWAN module, you can install there a m.2 2242 SSD disk.4) Both can be enabled and connected, but application will use one at time.5) I have an extended battery, so it's hard to tell. I guess it have a simmilar power usage as WLAN module (basing on Windows power utilization). Can't say about Fedora.6) It you don't want to have a problem with whitelist (it prevent system from booting, when unauthorized module is installed), then I look for module on eBay. Make sure, that photos explictly show FRU PN: 04X6014 on module's label. Models without it will not work.

Hi Guys, I was able to find a 1TB ssd for a resonable price to upgrade from a 250gb and was wondering which would be a resonable approach to backup and restore everything including drivers to personal settings, would it be the "creating system image" or "full back up"? Thanks for the input!

Answer:Upgrading to a larger SSD ( x250 Windows 10 64bit )

Welcome to the forum.

Here's the "standard" way to upgrade to a new SSD or HDD. IMO this is also the most foolproof way to do it:

1. Install free "cloning" software on the current drive, e.g. Macrium Reflect Free
2. Put the current "old" drive in an external USB enclosure and plug it into the ThinkPad.
3. Install the new drive in the main drive bay of the ThinkPad
4. Temporarily boot from the old drive. You can specify this drive by interrupting normal boot at BIOS.
5. Run cloning software to copy the entire old drive, including all partitions, to the new drive.
6. Reboot normally from the new drive in the ThinkPad.

Hi all,I've really been helped by this forum in the past, and really hope you can help with this issue.I've installed the card and installed the driver - all of which has gone down without a hitch. The compute recognises the card with no issues. Unfortunately, however, when a simcard is inserted it does not register the simcard whatsoever - 'Insert sim' is still present. In my searches on this forum it seems this problem is Windows 10 specific - the system does recognise the wireless card but does not recognise the simcard reader. Anecdotally, it seems to work for others when using Windows 7 (although that wouldn't be a fantastic solution in my situation.)Is there any solution for this?Thank you in advance for your time and any responses!Jack

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T450s, Sierra EM7345 and Windows 1...

Hello, jraynerwin10 doesn't need wwan card's manufacturer drivers for the normal mobile connection, it has a native support that. Additional drivers are needed for the legacy location features via NMEA port, for the custom wwan card virtual devices configuration (like NDIS port etc). So, the 1st thought modem firmware is outdated. Check it out:open command prompt window (cmd) and type in the following stringnetsh mbn sh cap int=*Copy and past an output here (remove Device ID for your privacy).Another version is connection settings, APN mainly. Do you see a cellular network item in the win10 network settings?Anyway, I hope mobile device em7345 is present in the Device Manager w/out errors.

So I was doing a clean install of Windows on my Lenovo x250. It has a 16gb SSD M.2 "Cache" drive and a standard 500gb main drive.

Unfortunately I selected the M2 drive as the installation path and formatted the other drive. So I have Windows on the smaller SSD which is now the "C" drive.

What I'd like to do is make the larger drive the C drive, install windows on that drive, and then use the smaller SSD as the cache drive like before.

I have tried diskpart and the Admin tools in the Control panel to attempt to change the drive letter on the C: drive, but it keeps giving me an error ("The Parameter is incorrect"), regardless of what drive letter I try.

I'm wondering if I simply can't change the C: drive this way, and what other options I have?

Answer:Lenovo X250 - Messed up windows installation onto M2 Cache Drive

Okay, so have tried multiple things to no avail. Looks like the issue is that there are two drives on the system and the Windows installer just doesn't like this. Resolution is typically to remove all other drives other than the one you want to install on. However, in this case the SSD M2 drive removal would require me literally taking apart the system, and for some unknown reason there is no ability to disable the drive in the BIOS (thanks for that Lenovo!).

Any other options anyone can think of?

Hello, I have just purchased an x250 which has the new dedicated trackpoint buttons. However these do not function even though the latest driver is installed. The trackpoint does not function either. The synaptics settings have the trackpoint unticked (disabled) and greyed out, its not possible to enable it there. The BIOS is updated and the trackpoint is enabled in there.  Does anyone have an idea how to enable the trackpoint?(sidenote the touchpad functions well)

I recently purchased a Samsung 840EVO 250G SSD hard driver and made it as my main system drive. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on the SSD. However, after I installed Lenovo Energy Management Windows 7, it prompted me a message telling me to restart the PC. When I do so, the computer wouldn't able to boot again. A flash of a blue screen showed up after the Windows 7 logo done and the computer rebooted again; and it keep looping and looping. I am able to fix the blue screen by system restoring. However, the Lenovo Energy Management was still not installed. I'm just wondering, has anyone encountered this problem before, and what are the solutions of fixing this problem. Thank you.

how do I make scroll bar work properly, that is, increase towards right or up and decrease values towards left or down ?

to make it more clear; when i create a label and a vertical scroll bar the number values of label increase when I click down and decrease when I click up? why is this?

Answer:Visual Basic: ridiculousness of a scroll bar

Try using a spin-button control instead of the scroll bar if you want to link it to a value - pressing up will increase the value.

If you think about it, when you have a scroll bar, normally you're at the beginning of something (e.g. a list) when at the top of the scroll bar, so pressing down would move through the list or increment the index of the list, so down=up!

Hello. Is there any reason Battery #1 (Internal battery) lists as Not Present? I've just updated to the latest BIOS for this laptop. I have installed the Lenovo Power Manager v 6.68.8 and under that application it only lists the removable battery. I've also checked settings in the BIOS to see if it can be turned on and I did not see anything listed that would let me makes changes to the Internal battery. Before this laptop I used a Lenovo X240 laptop and on that laptop it would list both Internal and Removable batteries in the Lenovo Power Manager application.

Everybody makes mistakes, and it is great that Lenovo has acknowledged mistakes with the previous generation of trackpad, and reversed its decision to not have dedicated buttons. This is great news.  However, I struggle to understand the decision to only have one SODIMM slot in the X250. I figured it was a huge mistake in the X240 (downgrade from the previous model!) and it would be rectified in the X250.  Very sad day for me to realise I will no longer be able to use a Lenovo machine as my primary device, I held on until CES announcements to my trusty X230.  For super light and thin, there is the X1 Carbon. X230/240/250 users are different and want a true business device which has servicable parts AND UP TO 16GB RAM! They don't care if it is badged as an Ultrabook!  I can't believe that the next model up in size - the T450s - has 4GB SOLDERED on! and only allows a maximum of 12GB. Still no good.  This is again ridiculous - why can't I have 16GB in a portable machine from Lenovo?  The competition has the following alternatives which I will need to use:  - HP 820 G1/H2- Dell E7240/E7250  Come on Lenovo get your act together and sort out a 12.5" laptop with 16GB RAM. PCIE SSD would be a bonus but not essential (RAM IS ESSENTIAL!).  Does anybody else feel this way? How else do we state our absolute disappointment that after a decade or more of Lenovo allegiance we have to switch? You have l... Read more

Answer:X250 huge disappointment - only 8GB RAM. Bye bye Lenovo.

They know very well about this demand - why do you think they released the T450 with two DIMM slots instead of 1 DIMM slot? X250 is however a different case. The T450 had enough free room inside to take the second DIMM slot. X250 however, due to its smaller size, doesn´t. So either Lenovo would reduce the battery since and therefor life, which isn´t the smartest thing to do with an Ultraportable, or change the whole chassis - which also wasn´t an option for Broadwell. Lenovo doesn´t change the chassis with every generation, but rather with every two generations (like X220 -> X230, X240->X250 are nearly the same when it comes to the chassis. T450s is the same, its like the T440s and there is no room inside my T440s for a second DIMM slot. The T450/T440 is slightly bigger on the other hand. Before there are any changes in this matter, you will have to wait for Skylake - and buy one of your alternatives if you want a new 16 GB RAM system now.

How do I lock the trackpad on the Lenovo x250? I find no shortkey on the keyboard to do this. Is it possible to lock it temporarily without disable it in BIOS or the mouse properties? I don't see any symbol on any key that seems to be related to turn off the trackpad. Greetings, I just have a quick question, does the Lenovo X250 or will the X260 be compatible with both an SSD and an MSATA storage option? I plan to buy the X260 sometime in late March, but my biggest concern is swapping out the included 500 GB hard drive, or at least supplementing it with an MSATA 500 GB drive. I am worried about how I am going to get windows 10 on the drive, given that by swaping the main drive I will get rid of the OS. So my plan is to find a way to move the O.S. from the main drive to an MSATA. However, if there is a way for me to simply install a new SSD (500GB) and replace the included 500GB 7200 RPM drive, then I would just rather do that. Not having the CD or CD key seems to make re-installing the OS rather difficult though. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I'm having an odd problem with a ThinkPad X250, connected to an Ultra Dock, and the HDMI output. On my monitor it works fine, without any issues, but on another monitor, specifically one attached to an Optelec ClearView HD device, it doesn't seem to work. The PC doesn't recognise anything being connected, and the monitor itself doesn't show anything on it. The next part is a bit long to explain, so apologies in advance: The problem monitor connects to a camera for the device, it uses a HDMI to DVI-D connection (the monitor only has a DVI-D or VGA input), and this works, the camera image is visible as expected. What should happen is that the HDMI input on the back of the camera control box can have a HDMI cable put into it from a PC (or laptop and dock in this case), and you can then flick between the camera and the PC input, but this doesn't work, instead when flicking to the PC it displays a black screen. Interestingly the control box doesn't give a red 'x' that it does when nothing is connected, so it knows something is there, but can't display it. To narrow the issue down, I tried connecting the HDMI to DVI-D connection that the camera uses to the Ultra Dock, and that didn't work either. As far as Windows is concerned for both connections (HDMI and HDMI to DVI-D) there's nothing there (I check on the laptop screen under display settings). I've called Optelec about it, and they've not had the same problem, but are looking into it. I was wonderi... Read more

Hey guys, I recently dumped my BIOS with the "Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit" in search for changing a DVMT value and I noticed something very curious. If you use a program called "UEFITool" to open the BIOS you dump on this laptop, and CTRL+F "DVMT" under text, it will bring you to a section named "PlatformHiiAdvancedDxe". Tried a fresh reinstall and reformat of Windows 7 on my X250.  But, once I unplug it a single time and re-plug it in, the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver no longer functions correctly in the Device Manager and returns the following error message:"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)" this seems to be resolve after restart the error returns upon plugging. I positive that this has something to do with the installed Lenovo softwares (power Manager etc) since this issue is not present on other brand laptops. Really need help to point out the software thats causing error.

hi.I would buy a lenovo thinkpad x250. But I need a computer as well as performing  also very light  where even 50 grams make the difference (I'm not there to explain why). in the site is written that the basic version weighs 1,31kg. I wonder putting a u-processor i5 with 8GB of RAM. perhaps replacing the HDD with a SSD and perhaps replacing another if possible, how much I could lose maximum weight? if I went to lose 100 grams it would be already great since my only alternative is a xps13 of which weighs 1.2kg. thank you

Hello My lenovo x250 turns off 2-3 after it has been powered on. The keyboard just lights up and then shuts off.A clicking sound is also appearing from the speaker. The video below shows the issue. https://goo.gl/photos/t7GavR9CXyuevHnZ6 I have tried to remove the batteries and do a hard reset without luck.I have also removed HDD and RAM without any luck too.I have tried emergency reset button in the clip hole next to the batteryRemoving hdd and ram Seems to be related to  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-Touch-won-t-start-up/td-p/1460205https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMBekALk6Ek

Have you checked your USB ports for damaged/bent/shorted pins?

That can cause what you report, although I've personally only  heard of it on older (T400 or so) laptops.

Easy to check.

Hi! I have a Lenovo G50-70 laptop with Windows 7 64 bit SP1 on it. Until a few days ago everything worked ok. For three days I do not have wireless enabled. If I try a network diagnostic, gives me the following message: wireless capability is turned off. In BIOS, wireless function is activated. All drivers are installed correctly. All indications lead to a "switch" (switch or key combination Fn) from which would enable / disable the wireless function. But this model of laptop does not have one. I tried many ways: wireless driver reinstallation; image restoration OS installation date; diagnoses computer software etc, pressing F7 (airplane) key, but nothing. Still the same message: radio hardware is off / wireless capability is turned off. The whole thing happened after the laptop runs on battery until it went off alone. It seems that the wireless was disabled by the power management function "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Does anyone have any idea how I can activate the "wireless capability"? Thank You.

Answer:Lenovo G50-70 Wi-Fi problem in (64bit) windows 7 w...

hi gaskoe

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:

Power down the machine, remove the AC adapter and battery and hold the power button for 30secs (power drain).
When finished, plugin the AC adapter and boot into the BIOS then disable the Wireless LAN Support then hit F10 to save and exit then turn off the machine.

- Sample image

Re-insert the battery, and boot back into the BIOS then re-enable the Wireless LAN Support then hit F10 to save and exit then observe the wireless functionality inside Windows.

If the problem remains, try these steps:

Open the Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features and uninstall the Lenovo Energy Manager then reboot
Download and install this version:
Lenovo Energy Manager

7.0.3.9

When finished, press F7 or Fn+F7 and check if you have the option to turn ON Wireless (see image below) and observe if you can now detect your Wi-Fi network.

Let me know how it goes,

How to flash the firmware of the sierra wireless em7345 on windows 10 ?  Its not possible through the steps i could find which was only for widnows 8.

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 windows 10

HiOnce the modem drivers are installed, including Intel flash tool, and the sim card inserted, during laptop cold start the flash service checks out whether newer firmware is available according to current modem fw and the sim card data (more clearly, cellular operator MCC/MNC values), and performs the flashing process if it's needed, in auto mode. You should see appropriate notification from the flash service in the system tray.

Hello, As stated in the subject. Recently I have bought a Lenovo G50-30 Laptop with preinstalled Windows 8.1. It does not really fell into my liking so I have decided to format it and get back to Windows 7, which I personally like far more. And then the problems started. However I try to instal Win7 I get the blue screen with this error code 0x000000A5. I have read about and it turns out that Win7 have some issues with the UEFI machines. Here is what I have tried:* Updated bios to the A7CN47WW version* Install it form original DVD as well form prepared USB drive*Changing BIOS setting (UEFI modes/AHCI to Compatible, Deafult Setting for Specific OS)*Changing USB mode from 3.0 to 2.0*Preparing bootable usb using Power ISO, Utra ISO and Rufus*Installing Windows XP from original CD My ideas have not got any effects, the blue screen with exactely the same message still appears. It would be really great if somene can give any advice how to deal with it.

hi Swistak1986,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're planning to install Win7 in legacy (MBR) mode and you've already checked this thread, can you try the following steps and observe:

1. Boot into the BIOS and set the following settings:

Exit Tab:
OS Optimized Defaults = Win7 OS

When finished, hit Load default settings (just right above it) then set these additional settings:

Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled

Boot Tab:
Boot Mode = Legacy
Boot Priority = Legacy First

2. When finished, hit Fn+F10 to save and exit and boot from the Win7 USB installer and observe if you can now install Win7 in legacy (MBR) mode.

Hi,I just installed Windows 8 and  **TaDa** BlueTooth problem.First i wanted to install Enhanced Device for BT with drivers - cannot install cuz BT device is not avaiable. Then i started my second system, BackTrack,  BT turned on.I changed system for Win8, BT was on i could install drivers and so on but i could no turn it off (only by using phisical switch i could). Ther was no option to turn it down in system either. Well i could "disable" drivers in options (devices) but power managment and ths fancy B on my laptop cover was still turned on. The only way to make it off was to turn down the switch with Wi-Fi and BT.Then i went to BIOS, turned down BT, runned Win 8 and hmm... BT was off ok but in win 8 the magical TURN OFF SWITCH for BT appeard. So, i went to BIOS once again, turned it on, Win 8 and .... nothing. System could not find my BT device. The switch was in the place yet i could not use it (cuz in devices there was no bluetooth device).I have the newest ThinkVantage support program and power managment program and all thos fancy buttons program too. Then why i cannot work with bluetooth on Lenovo R500 with win8 on board normally ?Meaby its couse of power managment - it does not support R500. Will it in the future? Now i have BT enebled in BIOS, in Win 8 (Settings-> Change PC settings ->Wireless) i have fancy BT turn off/on button, yet i am not able to use it cuz system does not found my bluetooth device.I d be glad if someone could help me.

Answer:bluetooth not found in my lenovo g560 windows 8.1 64bit

hi RAJUPUROHIT,

Welcome to the Forums.

Prior to installing Windows 8.1, were you able to use the bluetooth functionality before?

If bluetooth was working before you upgraded to Win8.1, try the following:

Turn off the computer and remove the AC adapter and battery.
Press and hold the power button for 30secs then reconnect the AC adapter and battery.
Turn ON the computer and press F2 to boot into the BIOS, when you're in, press F9 to reset BIOS to defaults and press F10 to save and exit.
Boot into Windows and open Device Manager (press the Windows key? +R, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter)) and see if you have a Bluetooth Module installed.

If the bluetooth device is still not showing, try to install these drivers and reboot:
Lenovo Energy Management

v5.4.0.8

Bluetooth Driver installer
   - this will identify the type of Bluetooth Device installed on the system (eg. Qualcom Atheros, Intel, etc.) and it will install a generic Bluetooth driver. If successful, try pairing a bluetooth device and observe.

When finished, press Fn+F5 and check if you have the option to turn ON Wireless & Bluetooth (see image below). If these options aren't available, make sure the physical wireless switch is turned ON.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello All, Hopefully I can get some useful information here. In a few months time I wish to upgrade my current OS Vista 32bit) to Windows 7 64 bit. Ive already located ram that would upgrade to 8GB which a huge improvement on my original ram. The problem I have and many people is the migration to 64bit. I have read messages saying the Y530's drivers for 64bit Vista will work with Windows 7 64bit, but im not sure yet. The problem being lenovo has not released any 64 bit drivers for the hardware on a Y710. Now I know a Y530 is generally the same computer just with a smaller screen. Now here's the run down ive looked up all the vital driver (chipset, graphics) but the not usually uprgraded drivers such as BIOS and power management and ACPI, wireless, Ethernet, sound, and many others say they will accept a 64 bit version but im not sure if they are different from a 530 compared to a Y710.Also the Lenovo specific drivers for the touch features on the laptop, and specific buttons. Would the drivers be the same for the 530 as the 710.One big question is the Novo button. Ive used it before and know it reinstalled the OS. But how do I configure this when installing a new OS. Does it do it automatically? Or do I have to send it to Lenovo?Hopefully I can get some reassurance on upgrading my computer! I have a Y710 and am contemplating the Upgrade myself right now.I have in the past found that you will lose some of the funtionality and I dont realy want to lose to much. I have read that the Y730 drives also work and my current thinking is that between the Y530 and Y730 driver I should get most of it working. With the acer notebooks I know you can burn a recovery disk that will restore to original. on the Lenovo It seems to be in a partition that does the recovery but to be honest If I reload that 30Gb C:\ drive  is going away as I will repartition to a single size. But if win7 tanks and I have to go back I would realy like to be able to. I moved to Windows 7 from Vista on my desktop and all I can say is it is just sooooo much better in performance and stability.

Hi Hanss,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

The hardware ID you have given points to TPM module of your device. The BIOS item for Intel Platform Trust Technology is there for the benefit of the Windows 8.1 security requirements. Since you are using Windows 7, you can safely disable it in BIOS.

Hope this helps!

Can anybody explain this?

Hey,

Are the whole 4GB RAM recognized in BIOS? If yes everything is ok.

I think the rest of memory will be used for graphic card as graphic memory so it?s normal. This will be controlled automatically so don?t worry about this.

I downloaded all the drivers from Lenovo website, and all installed pretty well. I can use WIFI, however Bluetooth does not work at all. I don't see any bluetooth in device manager and there is no tray icon of bluetooth. Moreover, I used AIDA64 software to see which bluetooth adapter is installed, however I found none. I have an Atheros 9485 wifi adapter. Do you know what it might be? I will give you all the details. Thanks beforehand.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Z710 Windows 7 64bit Bluetooth problems

hi moryak_lexa,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Looking at the Z710 HMM, the Atheros AR9485 (Liteon WB225) does show that it's Wi-Fi+BT combo chip.

Can you try the following:
1. Install the Lenovo Energy Managenet driver

Lenovo Energy Management
v1.0.0.28
54.4 MB

2. When done, press Wireless key (F7 or Fn+F7) and ensure that the Bluetooth Current Status is set to ON.
   - Link to picture

If the Bluetooth device is still not appearing under the Device Manager, can you try to download and run the Bluetooth Driver Installer and post the results during installation (eg. error messages, etc.)

Let me know how it goes.

Answer:P51 20HJ Windows 7 64bit drivers not listed on Lenovo site

Are you trying to install Win7 yourself, from scratch, as a new/second Windows on a P51 that was delivered with Win10 installed?  Or what?

Please read this other thread, which deals with installation of Win7 from scratch to NVMe target on a P50.

And in particular read my post regarding use of the Gigabyte USB Install Utility which creates new bootable Win7 install media on USB by adding the required and missing USB 3.0 drivers for mouse/keyboard as well as the missing NVMe driver for NVMe target devices.

The original retail Win7 install media on CD/DVD did not support USB 3.0, nor did it support NVMe.  Drivers for both of these device types must be added to the Win7 install media in order to now install Win7 on Skylake-based motherboards, for both laptops and desktops.  You can use the Gigabyte utility to "slipstream" add the missing drivers to either (a) CD/DVD original Win7 install media, or (b) ISO file version of original Win7 install media, with the newly combined output being written to a new bootable USB version of Win7 install media.

This new USB bootable Win7 install media will have the missing drivers present and will solve your problem.

Note: for quick reference I quote my own posts on that other thread...

The Gigabyte utility is available from the Gigabyte download site, scrolling down on the page about midway (you may need to expand categories to see everything).  It is described as: "Windows USB Insta... Read more

I have been sent 4 sets of Windows 7 Recovery Media from Lenovo over the past week and a half. These DVDs are unusable as they will not boot because they were created as non-bootable DVDs. When looking at the DVDs, they all just have 1 file on them - 0A44006.dvd.  I was sent a set of the 32bit version and it has multiple files on it with Bootmgr and 6 directories and will boot just fine. The 64bit DVDs obviously were created and replicated without any of these files to make it a bootable DVD. Can someone from Lenovo (Morristown, NC) find out why and fix these DVDs. The support center in Atlanta can only order another set from Morristown and I keep getting bad DVDs.

Answer:T410 Windows 7 Recovery Media 64bit from Lenovo will not boot

Hi,

This really sounds like Lenovo has mis-manufactured a batch of recovery DVDs.  Almost like they're copying the ISO file rather than using it as an image.

Out of curiousity (if you care to mess with this) can you open the .DVD file with a free tool like 7zip?  If you can, do you see a more appropriate set of files?

And to double-check: are all the .DVD files exactly the same name?  It would be interesting if the file name was different for each DVD within a given set.

[edit] What size is that file?  It may just be a version indicator (or similar) on an otherwise blank DVD.

None of this helps you directly but might help identify what's going on.

BTW, I've deleted your other post.  It's not quite on-topic in that thread and divides the discussion.  Someone following there might not see a resolution here or v-v.

Regards,
Z.

Hello all! (Sorry for bad English but I need help!) I need drivers for the laptop in title, I search but I find many options and I don't know what is the right driver! Is any here can list drivers for download??

Answer:Lenovo b590 20208 windows 7 64bit home premium

hi stathisch9,

You're correct on your mail,
Systems may came with diff hardware configuration , that's why the download site may have diff drivers for one category.

Here's how you can nail it down,
First You need to get the Hardware ID of the device that you needed drivers for,

Check you Device Manager for any "Bang" sign or Question mark symbol,
ex.

Those are where you need drivers for, also some of the devices like Video card and soundcard may not have a symbol because Windows provided a default driver, but still you need to get the drivers for those.

Ok, how to get Hardware ID , follow this guide
Ondevice manager window
     1. Right click on the device that you need to identify, then choose properties
     2. Once you have the properties Windows Click on the details tab.
     3. On the details tab Choose Hardware ID on the Property Drop down box
     4. and on the Value pane the first line is your Hardware ID,
     5. Get the VEN and the DEV Value, in this example VEN-8086 and DEV-1C3a
ex. PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&SUBSYS_307C17AA&REV_04
 Spoiler (Highlight to read)
You then go to PCI DATABASE and enter the DEV value (1C3A) into the device search.
With the results provided to you look for the matching vendor Value (8086). Then you'll know what device i... Read more

I just I took out the original RAM of 2gb and installed the new pair of RAM @4gb each. My problem is that the Processor or the CPU meter will go as high as 100% and stuck for 30 second and that will causes the systems hang up. I asked the technical team of the dealer but nobody can answer me what happen to the system or the hardware.  Even the usage of the RAM will eat up the 3gb of the total 8gb memory.

Here is my problem and here is the solution!!!My B540 Ideacentre would not pass the Lenovo splash screen. The only operational keys I had was F1 (BIOS) and F12 (BIOS options). F2 went to a light blue screen so no chance of even a one key recovery. Warrenty had expired four and a half months ago. I contacted Lenovo and after the guy told me to try F2 twice he said it was a HDD or other hardware failure and would cost around Ł200 maybe and also would take about two weeks.  AT THIS POINT YOU SHOULD NOT BE ANGRY FRUSTRATED OR PANIC. REMAIN CALM AND STOP AND THINK WHAT ACTUALLY WAS HAPPENING WHEN YOU LAST USED YOUR PC. For me I remembered Windows had auto downloaded 8.1 and was asking me to install. Also my keyboard had lost shift W T Y keys. This told me that it was not a hardware issue but a software issue and perhaps from this update. My HDD was not clicking or beeping and this PC has a 2TB Seagate Barracuda which has a good reputation. Luckly for me I also have a Seagate external expansion 2TB and a 500MB expansion which was the HDD from my old HP Touchsmart which I converted into an external hard drive by buying a HDD enclosure with cooling fan and all leads from eBay for Ł25 and this is where the solution is. If you can create an expansion drive so easily and access the HDD then why cant I do it with the HDD from my Ideacentre and of course you can. So first unplug your PC or laptop. Next remove the cover and unclip the HDD (which is easy with the B540.... Read more

I have 2 laptops with identical hardware configuration. They are Lenovo Thinkpads L512s with Realtek b/g/n wireless cards. One laptop is using windows 7 home premium 32bit and the other is windows 7 professional 64bit.Both connect to the network at n speeds but the 64bit machine can't access the internet. The 32bit machine along with about 10 other devices access the internet without issue. The 64bit machine tells me there is a problem with the DNS settings on the router. If I change the device settings to use wireless G it has no issues, internet access is possible.  My router is a Draytek Vigor 2830VN. Are there any known compatibility issues that relate to using wireless n or does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried using DHCP and fixed IP addresses with no luck, I also have the latest drivers installed. Thanks

Answer:Windows 7 64bit Realtek Wireless N no internet access

hey azguard,as far as I know, there should not be any compatability issues since your 32x unit can connect to N-type wireless and it is the same hardware configuration as your 64x unit.could you uninstall the current wireless driver for your 64x unit, let Win7 install its generic drivers. Test your connection and see if your 64x unit can connect with N-type connection using generic drivers.

I upgraded my Helix Gen 2 to Windows 10 with few problems except for the Sierra WWAN interface to Windows 10 settings. The cellular button on the wireless menu is greyed out and the cellular option page in settings shows no devices. The adapter setting shows the adapter, and on the Settings, Network & Internet , Airplane mode page show both Mobile broadband and Wi-Fi buttons. WWAN can be enabled by truning off Wi-Fi and turning on Mobile broadband on Airplane Mode settings page. With these settings, I can connect to WWAN Verizon and get to internet but:1. Settings, Network & Internet , Cellular shows no connections2. Wireless pop up menu shows Cellular and Mobile Hotspot greyed out. So, in summary, I can connect to WWAN, but only via Settings, Network & Internet , Airplane mode page using proceedure above. By the way, my upgrade to Win 10, switched on the rotation lock, but I was able to fix that in Win 10 settings in table mode.

HelloI got a totally new T450s with Windows 7 preinstalled. I did immediately an updgrade to Windows 10. Now the Sierra cellular modem is not working properly after inserting a SIM card (which works fine on another laptop). It says "Cellular No Service". The driver that is installed is "generic mobile broadband adapter" and not the Sierra Driver. I downloaded the lates Sierra Driver from the Lenovo website and installed it. Without success, it always installs the "generic mobile broadband adapter".Anyone any idea? ThanksAlexander Avidan

Answer:t450s Sierra Wireless EM7345 not working after upgrade to Windows 10

Welcome, Alexander Do you see broadband item on the cellular settings pane? The most likely cause of issue is APN setting missing in the connection profile. What is your operator name and what profile settings do you see?Win10 doesn't need modem manufacturer drivers for broadband access only, it uses built-in drivers. Also, there are default connection profile settings in the OS. If your operator is missing in that base or connection profile settings differ, you should edit profile on the cellular pane under administrative privileges.Anyway, I'm not sure em7345 modem in the Device Manager's "Network adapters" category in the win10 with OS built-in drivers installed should look like "generic mobile broadband adapter".

Hi,I have a Lenovo G500 windows 8.1 with Broadcom 802.11n network adapter.I cannot get the WLAN to start. The message I get is ?This device cannot start (Code 10)?.I have tried updating the drivers with various different ones. Deleting the device and rebooting to see if it will pick up the correct driver. Doing a system restore. Installing any Windows updates that were outstanding. The thing is the wireless was working fine earlier today, it just seems to have suddenly stopped. When I try to install new drivers I get a message window saying ?Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while trying to install it?.Any ideas and help would be greatly appreiciated. One other thing, I did see a similar problem elsewhere on the internet and the advice was in the adapter properties to change the WMM setting to disabled. I did this and it did correct the problem and the WI-Fi started working again for a day or so, but I now seem to be back to square one. The issue is not with the router as all other devices in our household operate fine. I am getting desparate and maybe thinking it could be a hardware fault which might need replacing. I would be grateful for any help anyone could give me please Thanks Steve

Answer:Lenovo G500 Windows 8.1 64bit, Broadcom 802.11n Wireless Adapter "Not Starting"

Hi sjemerton ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This device cannot start (Code 10) message is generic and may also indicate possible hardware failure .
Fastest way to isolate software versus hardware issue is doing factory reset but would delete everything and reimage it back the way it was from out of box condition along with appropriate drivers intended for the pc.

Before deciding on a full reset , you can try uninstalling all drivers for the WLAN card from the device manager but before restarting , configure driver update to never  . Install WLAN driver from the website or D:Lenovo/drivers if still available.

After installation , go back to device manager and change properties of the WLAN driver power management tab unchecked , on advance tab with roaming aggresiveness / tendency to highest.

Update us how it goes.

Hey,
I'm getting error message on reboot saying "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". After 2 or 3 times the laptop starts normally. I also get occasional blue screens of death with error message "Stop 0:0x0000000F4". I have re-installed windows, checked my drivers. Hard drive and RAM is working fine.
Is there anything I can do software wise? I'm using windows 7, 64 bit, 4th Gen OS. My laptop model is Lenovo IdeaPad G510.
Any sort of help would be highly appreciated.

The next time you're able to boot into your system I would recommend running CrystalDiskInfo to check your hard drive's health. It's a nifty little freeware application that I find pretty helpful. It has yet to fail me. Just google the name and you should be able to find the download site, it's usually the first result.

Hi All, I just got Lenovo T420 Last week with Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS. Unfortunately internal microphone array does not work. I already tried installing  latest Audio driver for Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD from Lenovo Support Site. Driver  8.32.23.5 . Still no luck. Refereed one of blog article where they mentioned to disable Audio Enhancement, unchecked that and still no luck. Tried with Skype, Google Voice, Cisco WebEx Communicator, IP Communicator and no luck in getting internal Microphone to work. Also tried sound recorder and all recordings are blank. There are lot of users who are facing this problem with Lenovo T420 Win 7 64Bit OS, not many users have time to come forward to discuss the same. Trying an alternative solution like plugging in an external mic or using usb headphones is not an option. Internal speakers work fine. If external mic is plugged in even that works fine. to isolate this issue. I even tried downgrading and upgrading several audio driver releases. also tried clean OS reinstall and tried deploying our Win 7 Lenovo image on this laptop. still no luck. I suspect this could be an hardware problem. Please suggest. Remember: I have already tried settings under Fn+F6 key several times using permutation and combination and spent atleast 8 Hours continuously to find a fix. Any known solution, Hotfixes from Lenovo is highly appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Windows 10 64bit drivers for Intel HD Graphics 4600 and NVIDIA ???

I don't know for a fact but I think the switchable graphics may be the problem with Windows 10. I had this issue with my W500. Go into BIOS and set the display to the Intel chip. Then go to the Intel site and get the driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4600. Manually install the driver using the inf file. If that works, you can do the same with Nvidia. Again you need to set the BIOS to discrete then install a driver. I have to go into BIOS to switch graphics drivers. Maybe someone has a better solution.

3 days ago, without any obvious changes, on a cold boot, this laptop, Win7 HomePremSP1 64bit/I3 w/4Gb RAM, 440MB GBHD, 400MB GBfree, has started to run dreadfully slowly... (yes, I know, it was no rocketship to begin with....but...) by the clock, 6 minutes from cold boot to Windows sign in, 9 more minutes until the desktop completely draws.  No errors, no bluescreens.
I have run Mbam, Mbar, and AVG scans, each taking 3-5 hours apiece to scan, cleanly, and substantively slower than previous experience on this particular computer.

Chkdsk reported that master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute is incorrect, schedules a scan at next restart, which it appears to do, and then procedes along its very slow way.

Resource Monitor/Disk shows System, svchost(netsvcs) and svchost(LocalServiceNetworkRestricted) as the only Process with disk activity when completely "at rest", no apps running, though often it blanks the screens, as if it itself cannot get enough clockticks to update the display.  Clicking on the start marble takes generally 5-15 seconds for response, and often with incomplete icons.
Physical memory shows 1328MB in use, 1531 Free, 948 standby, 204 HW reserved, 85 Modified.

I have tried to do a clean boot with MSCONFIG to run only startup services, and disabled all non-microsoft services.  No change in results.
It will boot in safe mode, and runs essentially the same slowness.

It is currently isolated, networ... Read more

I found that solution (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g50-30-noteboo...)  on lenovo support site but there is no power management driver avaliable (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g50-30-noteboo... yet. ;-( Is there maybe any other similar driver that could work for me? Thanks in advance! Regards,Crowdy

I have a Lenovo X250 with Windows 8 and want to install a clean version of Windows 7 on it without the Lenovo bloatware, am I able to downgrade to Windows 7 from 8 or can I install Windows 7 from disk without having to purchase Windows 7, I have a set of lenovo windows 7 recovery disks but you can't install the OS without the extra software, I know I can install it and remove the software but I don't want it there in the first place just a nice clean Windows 7 install. Cheers

Answer:X250 installing Windows 7

Hi Ace_Rimmer,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

The recovery media which you are having is same MTM (Machine Type Model) of ThinkPad X250 then you can use it. If it is different MTM then it may not go with your model X250.

Note: request you to perform recovery media for your Windows 8 OS and then do the required changes for your HDD.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Answer:Upgrade HD TN to FHD IPS for X250 (Windows 7). Adv...

Hello,

I'm not a Lenovo employee, so cannot answer some of your questions exactly, but let me try to answer as a fellow X250 user who went from an HD IPS (1366×768) to FHD IPS (1920×1080) panel about nine hours ago.

When the display panel was switched out, the display scaling changed from 100% to 125%.  Plenty of applications handle the new scaling just fine, but some of older ones looked blurry as a result of how fonts are scaled up in them.  Switching to 100% display scaling solved this and the apps now display crisp, if somewhat small, text.
Text is much sharper on the FHD display than the HD display, which is sort of expected given the new screen has nearly twice as many pixels as the old one.  Both screens I had were IPS, though, so I cannot make a direct comparison between TN and IPS.
I would suggest getting the screen installed by a Lenovo authorized service center.  According to this page, the contact information for Lenovo Ireland Sales and Customer Support is+353(01) 6535 568, and hours are from Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm GMT

One thing I've noticed is that the new screen seems a lot brighter than the old one.  Again, not sure how this compares with TN versus IPS screens, but just something to be aware of.

Answer:X250 Uefi windows 7 Installation

I have had better luck setting boot to be "UEFI first" and turning off secure boot for the install.  Set them back they way you want them after installing.
