I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

For some reason the onscreen display for the volume controls and screen brightness on my W530 stop working after coming back from sleep or resume. I updated Power Management, Hotkey and Interface but the problem still rears its ugly head. If I go into screen resolution and advanced and on screen then uncheck Enable onscreen and recheck it...the controls work again.

try to reinstall the OSD software. Uninstall the current OSD software that you have, and download the latest version from below.

HI All,     So when I first got the the SL410, I was quite annoyed by the capslock indicator. I can't remember what I did, but I got rid of the indicator, along with the functionality of the volume/mute/mic buttons to the side of the keyboard. I'd like them to work again, but I can't remember what I did. Did I delete a registry value? Stop a service? I'm running windows 7. I tried downloading the new "hot key" manager and this did not work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!julius

Before the update, I could hit the speaker shortcut button on my laptop and it would automatically turn on my volume to a preset level or mute the volume. Now, when I hit that button it does neither and it no longer pops up on my screen to show me that it is on or off like it did before. In order to control the volume now, I have to manually hit the plus or minus buttons. Anyone know a fix for this? Thanks!

When ever I adjust the volume on my SL500, using the volume up and down buttons, the volume level jumps. The volume level skips levels. Each time I press the volume up button it goes 0, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 23, 25. Is there some way of getting the volume to adjust in even increments? Often times, with headphones, 2 may be too loud and 0 is nothing at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:Volume Control Buttons

That's just how it works, and I've also had some issues with the volume not working out as I'd like, but it seems like the best way for now is to work case by case, and adjust the volume of the program playing the sound to begin with. I don't understand why one video will need max volume with headphones in a completely quiet room, while another will only need the slightest notch in a noisy cafè. There needs to be some sort of standard, I have to deal with the same crap on my mp3 player, but with that, I need to use special programs to enchance or dehance the levels unless I want to deal with pressing buttons in it all the time. I wish they had that feature that some TVs had for loud ads and it automatically turning down. *goes to Google*

yet another SL owner with this problem. Lenovo listens but doesnt take action. Ok sglick when you go to support, go to software and drivers. Click notebook>SL300>model>operating system. Look for the most recent HOTKEY driver. Or ATK HOTKEY driver. Either will work. It wont install from the desktop so after you do run the file on your desktop it will say it extracted the files to C: drive>drivers>WIN>hotkey>setup. run it..reinstall it...restart. It should now work.

Answer:Problems with the buttons that control the volume

So the buttons actually work and your volume is increased/decreased correctly?Your issue is that you don't get an On Screen Display visually showing you your changes? I too have this issue. I've installed Win7 Pro 64bit SP1 from scratch, and then installed selected Lenovo/Thinkvantage software. After I installed the Hotkey software I thought I would see some visual OSD graphics when increasing/decreasing the volume, but I don't. What software (or settings) are missing in my Win 7?

I have an HP Elitebook X3U19AV that was given to me from my work.

Brand new out of the box.

Running Windows 10 Education - version 1607
OS Build 14393.1593

Two somewhat similar problems with one little difference.

When I use the F3 and F4 button to try and control brightness nothing happens. I've tried pushing these buttons while holding down the fn key and without holding down that key.

When I use the f5,6 and 7 button to try and control the volume, I can see the system volume display showing up and being affected, but it doesn't change the volume that is actually coming out of my computer. I have noticed this on several websites with sound. I also downloaded Spotify to see if the volume control buttons would work on that and they do not. I have to find the individual volume control within the website or in Spotify and change the sound for just that app or website.

I have followed the suggestion on this website that asked me to run the System File Checker. No luck.

However, this volume freezing problem still occurs. Any Ideas? Thanks, Lenowner

I don't have any clue what would cause this, or what did cause it. I have the Logitech ClearChat Wireless headset. It has an on/off switch, a mute button for the built-in mic, and up/down volume controls. Well, something's happened with the volume controls, now when I click them and a program window is open, it closes it. Eithe up or down, it appears to be acting as an ALT+F4 macro button. I would have posted this on the logitech forums, but I can't sign in, even though I'm using the right email and password, it won't let me.

This is really frustrating, because sometimes I listen to music in the broswer and I use the volume controls on the headset, and now using them closes the browser window, or windows media player, whatever window is open and focused gets closed when the buttons get pressed.

Someone PLEASE help me figure out this problem! Thanks in advance.

EDIT: it turns out all the control buttons on my keyboard are malfunctioning also. I mean the volume control buttons, play/pause next/previous media item, favorite buttons, music, broswer, zoom, etc keyboard shortcuts, they all try to shut down the computer.

I've been having some trouble lately with the dedicated volume control and Onekey theater buttons on my Z570 laptop not working. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. The problem seems to be getting progressively worse -- a few weeks ago I could fairly consistently get them to start working again by putting the laptop in sleep mode and closing the lid, then waking it up again. Now, however, that trick rarely works. The buttons still light up (most of the time -- they have gone dark on a few rare occasions), they just don't respond sometimes. I suspect it may be a matter of physical damage, since remember a time a couple months ago when I had it in my backpack and accidentally set it down a bit roughly, and I've since noticed parts where it looks like the outer casing is slightly warped/bent and doesn't line up right at the seams. However, I would like to see if there are any fixes I could try to rule out software-based issues before looking into potentially costly repair/replacement of damaged hardware.

Answer:Z570 - Volume control and Onekey theater buttons not working

kindly reinstall onekey theatre software and SRS premium sound enhancement software, then also check in task manager (process tab) whether the following process is running or not1) OneKeyStudio.exe2)Onekeysupport.exe if its not running then check your startup programs from start->run->msconfig->startup tab see whether these programs are enabled in startup. I dont think there will be a hardware problem, reinstalling these softwares should work.

Hi guys,

The following set of exes allow you to map custom buttons on laptops to Windows shortcut commands . Currently supported is : to increase and decrease volume/brightness by a single click . Quick brightness change is great for long gaming or development sessions on the pc !

I have been missing that feature badly.

Also sending shortcuts i.e ALT+TAB is supported.

You need your laptop to have the software that can map the button to the exe.

This is donationware so all help is appreciated.

Coming soon also one-button changing the Nvidia color levels, as this is another thing that has been killing me.

There should be a program that displays on the screen the volume level when I change volume and another one that allows me to use the play, forward, backward or stop buttons either with Medial player or with JetAudio.

Where can I get such a program??

Answer:Satellite A100-787: Need driver to use Control buttons and volume wheel

Do you use the original preinstalled Toshiba image?
The Toshiba Vista image contains all necessary drivers and utilities and using this OS everything should functions.

If you have installed other OS like XP then the XP drivers are necessary.
If I?m not mistaken the volume level screen notification does not appears using XP.

Furthermore if you want to use the Toshiba control buttons you have to install the right drivers like Controls, common modules, etc?
The right installation order is necessary and important. Therefore I recommend checking the installation instruction on the Toshiba download page!

By the way; the control buttons are preconfigured and I don?t think that it could be possible to use it with another players like i.e Jetaudio.

Hello sevenforums,
I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.

First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.

A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Hi All, I've got a Lenovo T60P 87418BM laptop. I've recently upgraded to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center (32-bit). A couple of issues I've come across which I couldn't work out. 1. Volume Up/Down, Mute & Blue ThinkVantage Buttons - The buttons don't work and don't display on screen either. I've installed Windows 8 Hotkey Features Integration driver (version 3.84.1500) and also tried the previous version (3.81.0100) but still can't get the keys to work. All buttons and on screen display were working when I had Windows 7 installed previously. All other function (Fn) keys work. 2. Windows Store Apps - There seems to be an issue with the video/display driver as apps don't show video correctly. The colours are all jumbled up and fuzzy looking. I've installed ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 driver from Lenovo (version 8.383.1.1) and found an updated one (version 8.561.0.0) through Microsoft which I have currently installed. Everything in Windows works correctly including the start menu and default apps. The issue seems to only be evident when downloaded apps from the Windows Store are run. Any assistance would be much appreciated.  Thanks. Dez

Answer:Lenovo T60P Volume Buttons & Display Problem

Hi, Dez

Just to make sure that they are not causing the issue, I would make sure that all other drivers have been updated. Unfortunately, there is not an update for every driver or the BIOS for your system, but I would recommend updating those that are available to have your computer running at its best. You can also subscribe to the RSS feed, and this will let you know when newer drivers, like the BIOS, are available for your system. Both the drivers and the link to the RSS feed can be found here.

Hope it helps. Let me know how it goes,
Adam

Hello,

On my newly purchased Pro A200/PSAE7 the (hardware) volume control - front side, right from speaker plug - turns endless and when using it the volume does not change "smooth" - more "abrupt". Because of this there is no "fine tuning" possible.

Q: Does somebody else has the same hardware side (endless turn) and software side (no smooth volume change) situation?

Many thanks for any reply in advance!

Best regards,

"problem" of abrupt volume change when turning volume control disappeared. I am not sure if this is based on disable "TDispVol.exe" as start-up service or another reason.

Hello All,

I have done a few Thread searches and have tried a few of the report "solved problems".

But, in accordance with my "problem", nothing worked..

My Volume Control Display has been diabled somehow..
I have a Dell Studio 1737
I'm running Windows Vista
I have the "Touch Bar" above my keypad/keyboard and it has a few Volume Control Buttons. (Volume Mute, Volume Decrease, and Volume Increase)
They will control the Volume, the buttons work fine..
But, the was once a display that was almost like a Watermark, that would pop-up and display your Volume Control. This is no Longer there..
The Watermark would display the current Volume setting and would change as you Increase/Decrease/Mute the Volume..
It's a little tedious to not be able to check my volume on the spot now that i have gotten use to the Watermark being there to check it.

Please Help,
Thank you,

This has change the Volume controll settings and also has changed the "Power Shut-Down" on the Start Menu to "Stand-By", I've changed this. But, still experiencing the Volume Display problem.

The watermark I was referring to is this..
It's know as a "Dell Volume OSD"

These "Dell OSD's" also have control for Media Center, Eject Disk, and Play-Back Control.

Although there are other Volume OSD's out there for download. I would really like to stick with the

I click on the volume control icon, and it "opens" on the task bar, but it doesnt show up on the screen. I can close it by right clicking its 'bubble' on the taskbar, and selecting close.

I just can't see it when its open, and i cant figure out why.

I have tried restarting the computer, and reinstalling the sound card drivers.

Can i reinstall the volume control in XP, like you can in 98?

mazedc ...  I ran into this problem, myself, not long ago, and had the devil's own time finding the answer.  Fortunately, some kind soul pointed me in the right direction, and I'm happy to do the same for you.  Believe it or not, the installer for the onscreen display driver is located in the Hotkey driver package, 7vvu09ww.exe.

ok so this problem was just about from the beginning. i thought i would be patient and it would go away. at first i noticed that while using msn messenger, its volume control for voice chat controled the main volume for the whole pc. so if it was low things wouldnt sound as high as i wanted. no matter if i adjusted the main volume in the control panel, which was always set to highest, the volume would still be at the mercy of Msn M. so if it was lower than usual i would have to sign into msn m and adjust it. not only does this happen with msn m. it also happens with web video applications used by youtube, livevideo, etc etc! those arent usually the culprit of low sound. its usually just msn m. even now with live messenger i have the issue. im tired of being patient so here i am

The volume controls on my IdeaPad U450P are ridiculously sensitive now.  Originally, it was just the mute: It would de/activate itself with the slightest change in pressure on the right hand side of the computer.  After a squirrely MS update that caused my on-screen volume display (not the tray area, the one that appears in the middle of the screen) to disappear altogether, the display resurrected only to CONSISTENTLY increase the volume of its own accord and pop up at its leisure.  I have now seen the display activate at max volume, sitting on a level surface, and without touching the laptop AT ALL.  Now, I wouldn't care much if it didn't disrupt full-screen games and obscure text in writing programs.  I have tried to manually turn the entire display system off by disabling the Realtex audio speakers, but then the volume controls feel the need to inform me via dialog box that MY AUDIO DEVICE IS NOT WORKING~ It's working!  It's working TOO WELL!  I have turned it off because it's WORKING TOO WELL!  The most I've garnered from other forum discussions is that this is a hardware issue.  I fully understand and respect that; however, it's not such a big issue to me that I feel the need to send my poor little lappy away to get snipped to fix it.  All I want, all I REALLY want is just a way to turn off the stupid display and the sound altogether, such as disabling the Real-- I presently can't see what I'm writing because my volume co... The volume button became temperament to control volume. Sometime working, mostly not. should i manage to use button to turn up, id find within minutes it was back at zero volume. Also due to having to constantly turn phone up therefore due to this and also having to press button very hard, the components in and under button have broke. Short Story
Wave meter in volume control keeps stopping. I googled it, seems to be a virus. Performed a virus scan, came up with nothing. Did it with another anti-virus program, also showed nothing. Need help. Thanks.

Long Story
So basically, I wanted to watch a youtube video. When I played it, there was no sound. Thinking it was a simple volume problem, I checked the video volume, the small icon on the taskbar, and even went into the control panel to adjust the volume settings. I thought it might be my headphones, but I tried using the speakers and neither worked. I tried doing the voice playback, and then I could hear my voice. I thought maybe it was fixed. Played the video, no sound. At that point I thought it was my sound card. I didn't want to replace it, so I kept trying to look for a better solution. After much frustration, I managed to make my way into the volume control. Start - Control Panel - Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices - Adjust the System Volume - Audio - Sound Playback: Default Device: SoundMAX Digital Audio - Volume - Wave. I saw that the Wave option was all the way down, and moved it up. After moving it, I could hear the video crystal clear, so I closed all the windows I didn't need anymore. Well, after about 30 seconds, the volume shut off again. I went back into volume control, and the wave bar was all the way down again. I raised it, and closed the window. I was looking for the apply button to become available, for I had assumed that not app... Read more

Answer:Why aren't my lock screen and volume buttons working?

The volume problem might be due to hardware, so you should bring it to a store to have it checked. Since the hardware is faulty that could be a reason for the lockscreen acting up.. However you can try a factory reset (settings > about > reset).
Keep in mind this will wipe the phone, so backup everything first

So I recently updated a Lenovo 540b all in one touch screen pc to windows eight. Everything worked perfectly. Today I played some music through the stock music app and this annoying on screen volume control popped up. Since then I have been unable to get rid of it without stopping the audio service. Also since then all of the touch functions are not working. For instance I can no longer swipe from the top to close an application, swipe from the right to switch between apps, and I can swipe to the right but am unable to click on the windows button, I have use the mouse.

Answer:Volume control on screen that won't go away

Does anyone have any ideas what the cause could be? Currently I am trying a refresh of the pc. The refresh did nothing. This volume control bar stay on top of every application, it shows up in the screen lock when the pc is first started, and does not adjust volume. If I turn it down the volume automatically goes back up to 100 percent. Windows service was no help either. I believe this volume bar is affecting touch capability as well. It opened I believe with Xbox music app, I tried removing the app, but that had no effect. The only way i can remove this volume control is to disable all audio. Any ideas or suggestions would so much appreciated. It's was my wife's Christmas present and was working so well. It is killing me that something so brand new could have such a problem, and I can not find anything like it on the Internet. Thank you so much for any help.

mmmm....actually i've had a very similiar problem....not quite sure how i fixed it though. Try updating your drivers for your soundcard, that might help. Also(obviously) go into control panel, and mess with things from there. Also, do you have any errors with any sound drivers of any kind? i know if....kind of nuke some of mine(stupid me) with an anti-adware program....if you have that could be part of the prob, and those usually aren't to hard to fix, just take a little time.

Question: DivX volume levels

I am using FairUse Wizard to rip my own DVDs to DivX avi files to store on my laptop for trips. It works great, is easy to use, blah blah blah. The problem is the volume levels are so low. Is there an application out there (free hopefully) that will let me read in the Avi DivX file and raise the volume level? Even with headphones I have to turn the volume way way up to hear it.

Answer:DivX volume levels

I know that with capturing .wav files the line-in volume makes a huge difference. What is the DVD/CD and System volume set at in your audio properties in the taskbar? Raise that to max and see if it helps. That is my only guess having not used that program before.

edit: I know that deals mostly with output volume, but hey, its worth a try.

Question: n100 volume levels

The sound levels out the internal speakers are the lowest I've ever seen on any laptop.  Does anyone know a way to fix this?  I've got the volume cranked all the time, yet still struggle to hear most things.  I understand that it's a laptop, but c'mon.  It should be at least twice what it is. To answer the questions of anyone reading this post, yes.  I've checked the volume levels.  Main volume and wave volume are both maxed out.  It affects all sources.  It almost seems like it's been intentionally reduced at the driver level.  I've had both versions of the n100, so it wasn't a quirk of my particular machine, as far as I can tell.  I know this isn't exactly a top of the line machine, but it's my work lappy and I'm stuck with it for a while, so if this can be fixed I'd sure like to.

When playing DVD's on desktop audio is present but have to increase volume

Motophoto used a Sony burner for all conversions and cannot understand why DV on desktop is ok but on the VHS & VHS-C?s the volume is unacceptable. It is critical that the DVD's work on the desktop in that it is has more memory, larger screen and keyboard. My goal in these conversions is to edit and produce my own DVD's. I have successfully completed this on the initial DV to DVD conversion.
Made a copy of one of the fully functional DVD's on the laptop. The audio on the copy played fine on the laptop. When I tried it on the desktop the audio issue again reappears.

Whenever I download mp3 files and play them back, I find a great deal of variation in volume level. Some play back much softer or lower than I would like and occasionally one will play back too loud. I'm trying to find a good program to use that will allow me to adjust mp3 volume levels before starting the burn process so that after I burn CD's and then play them back I won't have to keep adjusting the volume. In other words I wan't to be able to burn 20 or so tracks so that they will all play back at essentially the same level of volume. ( I guess that these programs would also make it possible to eliminate a certain amount of hiss, especially in cases where the volume level needs boosting.)

I've been told that there are programs that will let me make such adjustments. I would appreciate recommendations as to which of these work the best and have the clearest instructions. Basically, how do these programs work? A simple 3- or 4-step explanantion, if possible, would help me a lot.

Thank you,

Geesh. The on screen display for my volume control has disappeared. Previously when I used the volume control on the keyboard there was a bar that would pop up showing where the volume was. It has disappeared.

Other than a system restore any idea how to get it back? I have an HP desktop.

edit1: I probably wasn't clear enough. It wasn't the volume icon in the system tray that disappeared it was a bar that would appear center on the monitor showing the progress of the volume. The volume icon was still there and functioning, it was the display bar that disappeared.

edit2: Solved it. It's related to HP Media Smart, HP's program for viewing DVDs, pictures, etc. I recently had disabled it at startup as part of this thread

Startup programs critique

Apparently it has to be running or at least initialized for the on screen volume control display to function. I would have thought the on screen display was independent of any program but I guess not. So I will have to keep it enabled at startup. I thought I was being smart by disabling some programs at startup but I guess if they serve a function it ends up backfiring.

I've included a screenshot of the startup entry. If anyone has an HP desktop and knows of another way to make this status bar display without having Media Smart running please let me know.

Sounds like it's more of a software issue for the Logitech keyboard. There also may be a firmware update as well as a driver/software update from Logitech. I had the same problem with my laptop...although it was a vendor supplied software that I had to download directly from Samsung.

I'm using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. When I hit a volume control button (mute, volume up, or volume down) an on-screen slider is displayed corresponding to the current system volume and what I am doing. How do I get the system to display this slider somewhere else on the screen. I can't drag it. None of the keyboard settings have anything to do with on-screen control positions.

Thanks!

Answer:On-screen Position of Volume Control

Hi, you might prefer an alternative approach.

Install Volumouse (free). This allows you to alter volume by pressing a key or key combination and scroll the mouse. The slider appears wherever the moue pointer is.

You can alter the screen brightness in the same way.

Another program that is rather neat is 7+ taskbar tweaker. Select the appropriate option; simply hover your mouse over the taskbar and scroll to alter the volume. The slider appears above where the mouse is.

Just search for these - easy to find.

When I bring the volume adjusters up there's all the sliders and under each slider is a box marked "Mute". If I change the Mixer device to Realtek HD Audio input "Recording" is ticked and "Playback" is shaded. When I bring up the volume adjusters for recording there's the sliders, each with a box marked "Mute" underneath, except all of the sliders, except "Recording" are shaded out. "CD Volume" "Mic Volume" "Line Volume" and "Stereo Mix" are all shaded.

In Realtek's Mixer those devices don't even HAVE sliders.

Any ideas why I can't adjust my levels?

Answer:Not Able to Adjust Volume Levels in Mixer.

Answer:Audigy poor volume levels

You can set volume levels for all audio sources separately. Make sure you have set the soundcard master volume to ~80%, then max out the separate sound sources. Use the Creative Sound Mixer for this.

I'm not following you entirely, but have you tried (R) clicking on the "mute box" selection when it appears? Does the speaker icon in the task bar have a red "X" on it? Have you gone to "system" in the control panel...than selected 'hardware' to get a look at 'device manager' and what see what it's saying? On your sound mixer click on everything that has a red "x" on it. I'm not meaning to oversimplify, but I think you will discover an easy way out of this problem once you know how to handle the Window mixer console.

Hi, I upgraded from a T43P to a T61P i.e. moved the drive over to the new machine and fixed the broken drivers etc.Just about everything works but the volume controls don't working correctly. They change the volume, but instead of showing a green volume level on the monitor the machine makes 'error' beeps. How can I fix this please?

Answer:T61P Volume control doesn't display on the monitor. Makes an 'error' beep when pressed

So does the volume controls still work though?

I am looking for an app which displays a large volume knob instead of trying to use the tiny windows media player volume bar. Maybe there's another player app to play music as well you could recommend (not windows media player) which has this feature. I will be outputting through USB to an audio processor which has its own software but not an ideal master volume control. I will eventually connect a Blu-ray/cd external drive as well I would like it to work with on my surf pro 3. Thanks!

I have fixed up an old XP PC for my 5yr grandaughter to play with. Loves
it at the moment as she does not
need to use mine for games etc.
She navigates it very well in my opinion but keeps setting the volume to max. When asked to turn it down she struggles to find the
tiny icon in the task bar. I want to put it on the screen as a large icon that she can easily see. I am sure this is easy but I cant remember.

Hi, I have also included most of the following information in response to a post, on the same subject, for T series machines. I have 2 machines that are also affected by this problem, an R61 (8932-CTO XP-Pro-SP3 32-bit) and an R500 (2714-CTO XP-Pro-SP3 32-bit). System update recently presented me with Hotkeys version 3.87.0000 on both of these machines, and I let System Update update the drivers in the vain hope that Lenovo had fixed this problem that has been previously reported as affecting many other series and models. No such luck. The only difference that I would like to  report is that, for me, the last version of the Hotkey Features Integration package that displays the volume bar on my Windows XP machines is: 3.84.5000. I have all versions of the Hotkeys drivers saved on my machine and was therefore able to try them all out to verify which one was the last one that worked for me.  On both of the above mentioned systems, the version of Access Connections that is running is version 5.97.On the R61, the version of Power Manager that is running is version 5.20.On the R500, the version of Power Manager that is running is version 5.13. (System Update does not show version 5.20 as an available update on this machine.) It would be really nice if Lenovo could finally fix this problem.

I'm not sure if this happened with 5.55, but with 5.56, when I hit the volume up or down on my keyboard to turn the sound down for everything, it turns down winamp's volume bar too. Sometimes I can move winamp's volume bar up and down and it won't even be working. What causes this? It's pretty annoying for the music to turn down twice as fast or winamp's volume bar to not even work at all.EDIT: Moved to a more appropriate forum

Hello

I've had a problem with Youtube volume levels in Firefox, for many versions, now. I have just updated to 57.0.3 (64 bit). The sound level on Youtube videos is lower than with other browsers ( Chrome. for example). I've gone in to the volume mixer and raised the slider there, to equalize them.. But, a little later, the problem returns.
Is there some fix that I've missed while googling?

Answer:Firefox: Inconsistent Volume Levels On Youtube

Are you using any Legacy Extensions? Do you have Flash installed and Updated? How many Processes do you have it set for in Options? I use 4. I do not have A problem with sound.

Is there is some way to make windows to not remember the per app volume settings.
I like it that I can adjust the volume for every app but I don't like it that windows remembers the settings I set(next time I start the same program, the old settings will be applied)

For example I mute some program and then close it after a while and the next time I start it,I start to wonder why there is no sound until I check the status in the sound mixer.

Answer:Make windows to not remember the volume levels

That is a function of the individual programs.

Thank you in advance,

I am trying to transfer my band's backing tracks from a Sony MiniDisc Player to my new IdeaPad y550 (Windows 7) using 1/8" stereo jacks from the MiniDisc Player to the stereo mic in on the laptop. My record levels are fine (optimum) but playback of the file results in considerably lower volume. The VU meters during playback are at the levels I recorded but actual audio volume is much lower.

Same problem regardless of the software I am using (Sound Recorder, CakeWalk, WavePro, etc.) so I am hoping it is some global setting I can't find...

Answer:Low Playback Volume After Recording at Optimum Levels

It may just be the recording level and you need to increase the playback level in whatever program you are using to playback. I do a lot of audio work (I have a recording studio using Cakewalk Sonar 8.5) and what you are seeing happens at times.

Make sure your record levels are "optimal" for your system. If you use Audacity, I think it has an option to "normalize" the levels after you record and before you save it. Normalizing will set the volume levels and should eliminate the low playback problems.

I have a video clip that was originally on DVD that I converted to wmv for use in a PowerPoint presentation. Is there any easy way to raise the volume of the video file? I have several other clips to play that are all at a normal volume level, but this one is barely audible. I'd like to get them within the same range.

The speakers I'll be using in the meeting will already be at nearly their max volume. The clip is also from one of our employee's TV appearances, and we have permission from the TV station...so there's no illegal activity going on here.

Answer:Changing volume levels on a video clip

For a WMV it's gonna be a bitch: you're going to have to demux it into audio/video streams, do a boost on the audio (tricky since you didn't specify what the audio track is, it can/could be Windows Media audio, mp3, etc etc), then remux it back with the video track. There's no easy way to just boost the audio as it presently exists in the file, i.e. you can't work on the audio while it's still part of the AV stream.

If the normal volume on the machine doing the playback can't get it loud enough, one solution is - using MPC-HC of course - to boost the volume to whatever level is appropriate:

That should help, and it can definitely make low volume audio tracks pretty loud. I know older versions of WMP had an "enhancement" that could alter the playback levels with some volume boost, but WMP12 in Windows 7 is lacking that feature. Might still exist in WMP11 on Vista and WMP10 and prior versions on XP maybe.

I'd say grab MPC-HC from http://xvidvideo.ru (latest version, just the .exe) and use that to get it done unless you're really going full bore on doing the edit of the actual audio stream after demuxing it.

Hello, Due to some weird update issues, I had to run a fresh re-install of Windows 10 on my Lenovo Yoga 11e 20D9.  I have run the Lenovo system update, and manually downloaded every driver I can find for this machine on the Lenovo support site, but I still can't get some of the buttons on the laptop to work properly. Basically, the volume buttons (both on the FN row and on the side of the computer) all just mute/unmute, but will not adjust volume level.  The brightness controls do work, but the rest of the FN controls don't.  The function keys work fine. Does anyone have any experience with this?  If there is a specific driver that will work, please link me directly to the file. Thanks

Answer:Yoga 11e 20d9 FN buttons and side volume buttons not working after fresh Windows 10 install

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about this?  I would like to try to find the correct drivers for this keyboard, but the ones on the site did not seem to fix my issue.  It's possible I did something wrong though.  Any suggestions or links to threads or driver files? Thanks

I have an HP f2105 21" monitor running on Windows 7 x64. Recently the Volume Icon keeps appearing on my screen, and automatically increases the volume to 100%. I have not made any significant changes in my operating system. The Icon stands in front of all other screens and cannot be dismissed. It quits when it's ready after a few seconds. It pops up every 3-4 minutes or so. My drivers are up to date. I've tried disconnecting the monitor and reconnecting it. Turning it off and on, etc. So far nothing has helped.

Hello melb1946Does your keyboard have volume buttons? I know in my experiences I have sometimes run into similar scenarios. In my case the problem was accidentally hitting the volume button on my keyboard. How is your sound setup in Windows 7? Is your monitor set as the default sound device? Do other sound devices increase their volumes?Probably one of the best ways to isolate the problem would be to put the monitor on another computer and see if the sound continues to appear and go up.
