I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: X230 2325-Q34 WWAN Support

HiUnfortunately, I couldn't find official confirmation your laptop is "wwan ready", i.e.has wwan antennas installed. Antennas kit FRU in your laptop is 04W1409, wlan and wwan kit. Nevertheless, laptop might have or not have wwan part of them. So, to ensure, it'd be faster to disassemble keyboard and check out whether wwan antennas are there, red and blue wires.x230 compatible (Lenovo approved) wwan modules are:- Sony Ericsson h5321gw (I'd advice to not get that)- Sierra Wireless mc8355 (Gobi 3000), for 3g networks- Sierra Wireless mc7710, 3g+LTENote, the cards should be with Lenovo p/n (FRU).

I have installed a SIM card on my X230 2325 running on windows 8.1 - but I can't get any driver/program to work to actually enable my mobile broadband. Which driver and program should be used in order for me to use this ? I can't get the listed drivers for windows 7 to work (which is said to be running on 8.1) Anyone have a small tutorial on how to fix this ? Thanks.

Answer:WAN on windows 8.1 ? - x230 2325

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad X230, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Sorry for these issues, the updates team is still working on getting all the updates published for the new systems like X230...

Bluetooth should be there starting from today.

I recommend not installing RapidBoot Shield unless you have personally tested it and determined that it makes your image boot faster and doesn't cause side-effects.

Intel USB 3.0 has a wrong dependency on RapidBoot Shield, the team is working on removing the dependency.  If you are using ThinInstaller you may be able to figure out how to remove the dependency from the XML file yourself...

Hi All,  With reference to https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X230-Laptop-4G-LTE-in-the-UK/m-p/2258754#M681... - trying to find a Lenovo FRU 04W3821 is like trying to find Rocking Horse doodah.... What other options are there for UK based WWAN cards ? i.e. the next best thing ? I'd love to have my x230 be 4G capable, however, I'd settle for a decent, and working 3G.I've got the cables internally - just not the card. I've found one that is being advertised as ... "60Y3255 60Y3279 04W3767" Another as "60Y3297"Another as "04W3786, 60Y3297" - stated as same model. And finally - a " 04W3767" I am not 100% sure about GPS or not - I use Linux, not Windows, so don't know if that would work, I guess, if there is a GPS that works (especially under Linux) then that would be a bonus, not a necessity. TIA K__R

Question: X230 WWAN card

Hi all, I want to get a WWAN card for my x230 (primarily for GPS function). I'm looking at those supported e.g. Ericsson F5521GW but I'm finding it hard to get one specifically for the x230. I've found them for Dell's and HP's etc, but I assume they won't work in my x230 because of the annoying BIOS whitelist. Can I use any Ericsson F5521GW? If not where can I get hold of one specifically for the x230? Any help would be grately appreciated. Thanks, Seb.

Question: X230 WWAN Options

Hi, I did some searches and couldn't really find what I was looking for.  I also used the chat function and got useless responses.  I am simply looking for a WWAN modem that I can install into my laptop that supports t-mobile USA. Thanks for your responses.

Answer:X230 WWAN Options

Sierra Wireless mc8355 (Gobi 3000) supports almost any network and carrier around the world. But if you'd like to get the higher speed of wwan connection (more then DL 14,4 mbit/s it provides) you should purchase Sony Ericsson h5321w or f5521gw. In this case you can't connect to CDMA/EV-DO network if you'll decide to do it in the future. Note that modem must be with Lenovo FRU.For the future: for UMTS network (T-Mobile is that) do not use Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation application.

Recently I purchased x230. My 3G is not working. I don't find any device on device manager. How do I know, which built in 3g module is installed on my laptop? or is there any option to enable it? I saw the specification, it is showing the 3g is in built. Please help me out. I put my sim, but no luck.

Answer:ThinkPad X230 WWAN card for 3G

If your laptop model isn't CTO follow the link below and type in Machine-Type-Model (MTM) within Quick Path field:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/default.pageIf short description of your laptop specification includes "WWAN" statement wwan card SHOULD be factory preinstalled. "WWAN option" isn't the same, it means laptop is WWAN ready, i.e.has built in wwan antennas and sim card holder only, but not the card itself.Follow this link:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsLookup.pageType in your laptop serial number and find out WWAN card model if it was preinstalled into your laptop. You might find out something like the strings below depending of your area:04W3785 - Gobi300004W3786 - H5321gw04W3788 - MC770004W3791 - MC775004W3792 - MC770004W3821 - Sierra MC771060Y3257 - Gobi3 WWAN60Y3267 - F5521 Mal60Y3297 - H5321w

Hello! I bought my X230 (2325-7R6) 2 years ago and now it was time for a 3G module, namely the 60Y3297 (this is just the wwan module with 3g and without gps). When i plug it in and start the notebook i get the mandatory 1802: Card unauthorized. I called the support line, since the shop told me that the card should work. The woman on the line told me, that my notebook wont work, because i have no antennas. When I told here, that i have antennas and also connected them, she told me that either these cables are fake or i plugged the card into the wireless slot -.-Okay, i told her, that the wireless slot is busy by the pre-installed wireless card. *sigh* And here comes the best part: At the end, she told me that the FRU is actually whitelisted and accepted by the model, but since the notebook was sold without the card built in, it won't work to plug another one in (**bleep**). This is a cool story, ha?  Has anyone installed this specific card and got it working? Thanks in advance!

HiDo not be surprised of the such "support" from contact-center not technician operator. You should be lucky she didn't advice you to recover the laptop to the factory stage. OKThere is a couple threads here aboard about x230 and h5321w (60y3297) within it. No one of them is about the same issue as your. So post here USB VID/PID you see on the lock screen with 1802 error message. Also is the BIOS in your laptop original from Lenovo and up to date?

Answer:X230 WWAN card missing

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If Lenovo support page says WWAN, it means that your system is WWAN upgradeable. WWAN upgradable models have the SIM card slot and WWAN antennas installed from the factory. If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it to start using WWAN functionality.

Hope this clarified your query!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Answer:X230 Tablet and Ericsson H5321 wwan problem

Solution wasn't so simple... The Lenovo support changed a new Gobi 3000 wwan card. That was ok to the bios and laptop was running ok on windows 7. Everything worked well at least in Finland. So the Ericsson wwan card will not work current bios version. This is not mentioned on product catalog. The support changed this board without any costs. Windows 8 problems: Then I changed from win7 pro to win8 pro... Gobi 3000 drivers are not currently on Lenovo website, but you could find the drivers from other website. Drivers called LenovoGobi3kSetup.exe seem to be working ok on Windows 8. You'll find the link from the community to those drivers. ....but! It works until you rotate the display top of the keyboard. Then mobile broadband is disabled and there is no way to turn on this feature. Windows 8 troubleshoot says that the wwan switch is disabled and advices to enable the switch. But there is no any switch for wwan module!!! On windows 7 will work similary but you can switch wwan on when change the display rotation. Settinga are as well in FN+F5 button. But it will not work on windows 8 similary. It just disables all wifi actions. Solution for wwan switch enabling: Just install think vantage access for windows 7! It will give some errors, but ignore them. It will install finally and then you can switch wwan module again on. On my laptop this seem to be working now ok. I'm using think vantage acces only to enable the wwan modul... Read more

Hello, I do have X230 , and recently i Have decided to buy LTE modem (WWAN) because i'm traveling a lot and need internet access. Also in Poland we have Aero2 nation wide network with very cheap data packets (1$ for 3 GB, or 5$ for 30GB for 30 days) so it is a lot of data as for "backup" connection. So i Have ordered Sierra WIreless MC7700 because that card is whitelisted in Bios and can be used on that particular machine. And..... card was not working at all, GPS not working, i Have started downloading GPS enablers and drivers for that card from lenovo but it was a time when windows 10 was "new" there were problems with drivers etc. but i have managed to get it working. everything was fine till the day that i Have ordered 16 GB of RAM and LITEON 256 GB SSD drive to make the mashine a bit more efficent. I had to install Clean copy of WIN 10 because of drive swap, and now i cannot connect with WWAN. The card is shown in device manager, i see it in notification center, alsow in control panel internet settings I do have Mobile listed. But it does not want to "see" the simcard. So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out £1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

Hello! I just buy X1Y without WWAN-modem, because I don't really need it for now, and try to use empty WWAN M.2 slot for SSD like I did with all my previous Thinkpad's - so I install Transcend TS256GMTS400 that perfectly works at my previous Thinkpad Yoga 12... but SSD does not apper at BIOS! At "BIOS - Boot priority" there are some empty device named "NVMe0" - because of absent of external NVMe ports and present of Samsung SSD as different device at M.2 2280 slot, its possible can be support for NVMe-PCIE SSD at that WWAN-slot... but I can not find any SSD M.2 2242 NVMe at all world...  Also I dont find any WWAN-antennas near WWAN-slot. Also because of gluided Yoga touch screens its unpossible to install WWAN-antennas by user without waranty lose. So it seems that X1Yoga's that sell's without WWAN-modems does not support WWAN-modems at all! So after all those problems it seems that at all configurations of Thinkpad X1 without WWAN-modem this WWAN-slot is absolutely useless!!! PS Also X1 have flimsy soiled case, loud keybord and a specially very loud touchpad buttons and trackpad buttons!  Does Thinkpad X1 with such problems are really premium device?!?!?!  Any suggestions for WWAN-SSD?!

I've been on the phone to Lenovo support for the last 6 weeks, they have been absolutely unhelpful, and I don't know where to turn! My brand new (1 month old) X230 decided to BSOD, and I couldn't boot (even in safe mode). I'm not a big techie, so after trying to boot from a USB and not getting that to work I rang support. That was at the end of October. Since then i've been told twice that a box has been sent to return the computer in (10 days apart after ringing to find out when the box was coming), then told they didn't send due to "an error in our system" (again, after I rung), then i was told that a technician would come to look at my machine, then after hearing nothing for another week, I was told that customer support would contact me to find a solution, and now i've been calling every 3-4 days, everytime told that customer support would contact me or someone would "personally take care of this issue".  I haven't had a single piece of correspondence from a Lenovo employee in all this time. I'm ridiculously frustrated! the most expensive thing I've ever owned and its worthless after a month and the support staff are absolutely taking the piss. I spend my evenings on hold at the support centre! I took the PC into a local shop ($100 later), and they think its a failed SSD which is the problem. What should i do? I have no faith in Lenovo support, and I feel like I've been straight up ripped off. Am i going to have to give them more money to order an... Read more

stuNZ,1. can you access to bios setup (in case you have win 7)? If yes, disable Secure boot and try to boot from usb stick2. if you have Factory_Recovery media you can reset laptop to the original stage3. do you see the screen with string about pressing thinkvantage button while laptop boots? If yes do it and you'll appear in Recovery environment4. if previous answer is no, do you have Rescue media (you could make it using Lenovo Rescue&Recovery tool)? If yes boot laptop from that and you'll appear in Recovery environment too. What's the model of your SSD? What do you see on BSOD (I mean error codes and short description in capital letters)?

Xanthux wrote:

Only the MC 7700 and MC7750 are supported for the X220 at this time for the US 4G market.  I'd guess that support for other versions in future will depend on the size of the potential 4G LTE markets.
At this stage of global 4G LTE deployment, support for a particular implementations is generally somewhat more than just having support for specific bands, so there is no gurantee that a MC7710 would actually work with your 4G carrier(s) in Hong Kong.

For instance, 4G LTE in the 700Mz band (where most of the global 4G action is eventually likely  to settle once analogue TV is switched off) will be in different segements of the 700MHz band is differing regions of the world.

Hi everyone, As I see the problem of laptops bricked after bios upgrade is relatively common for Lenovo. Still I've had the same problem - after installing all updates with ThinkVantage System Update (I just selected all the updates) the x230 wouldn't start. It still has active warranty till 2015, but the official Lenovo support here in Russia says this is not covered by the warranty and I should pay for motherboard replacement! And they only give answers on the phone, no e-mail or any other written answers are given as this is "confidential" I'm a bit confused, as this looks very strange: you buy a laptop for $2.5k and at any time Lenovo can brick it with its own updates and refuse to repair it (official price for the motherboard is above $1k). I see it as a direct message "Don't buy any Lenovo products". Anyone had similar problems with support? Did you have a free repair? If this is not covered by the warranty, can anyone point out where this is written as I coudn't find anything in the warranty that prevents Lenovo from repair. Thanks in advance. Edited:Here are further details in case anyone closer to Lenovo support reads this.Right after the incident I searched lenovo.com for authorised service centers and went to Auroville (www.aypo.ru) in Saint-Petersburg. They took the laptop and called me back in several days. They said that Lenovo refused to accept this as warranty so they can't do anything. Also they said that the reason for this was that t... Hi, I'm trying to buy the GOBI 2000 WWAN Card (Part# 60Y3183/78Y1399) for my Thinkpad T410 (model # 2516CTO), one of my friend in US is helping me get it, unfortunatley Lenovo has discontinued selling the product, I would have to purchase it through Amazon or other sellers.I was told that no other WWAN modules will be compatible with T410 other thank the GOBI 2000, so guessing it is my only choice. I currently use Reliance Net Connect with USB, and started feeling that it adds unnecessary complication when moving around.Hence I'm planning for this upgrade. My real question is, will this card work in India with a carrier like Vodafone or Reliance? If it works does any of you have experience using it, how the speeds are, and is it worth the $100 odd that I would shell out of my pocket? Any answers would definitely help me in making a purchase decision, so please let me know. regards, Raju

Answer:X230 Tablet BIOS 2.57 - added support for new wireless devices - ?

There was some issue with WiFi certification in Indonesia.  The BIOS change isn't about adding new cards, it was just adding new Indonesia-only versions of the existing cards (6200 and 6205).  7260 is still not allowed in X230T.  Sorry to disappoint you.

First boot out of box "a problem for this error could not be found. Lenovo is constanly updating drivers...". Second boot, blue screen of death (dump message). Windows updates fail. Keeps installing updates and reverting changes due to failure. Lenovo updates not installing properly either. After install, updates keep showing available and reinstall. Thinkvantage system update freezes on 21%. Wifi keeps going to no signal. This computer is like a sick joke, the support has been even worse. They want to charge me for software support. My X239 is not charing to the full 100%, I have two other Thinkpad models that my parents and they all change to 100%.. This is newer than theirs. Also the power button on the laptop is not flexing enough, you wont fee if you are pressing it. I send this for repair twice and its not fixed yet.I wonder the support tech read the whole desciption of the trouble or just goes by the category of the trouble. I like to talk to someone to make sence but its all automated. I am so much dissatisfied with their service and the product itself.

Answer:support issue with X230 problem charing and power button stuck.

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that battery of your Lenovo ThinkPad X230 is not charging to 100% and the power button is stuck.

I would suggest you to follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Shutdown, unplug AC and remove battery. Press and hold power button for several seconds. Then re-install battery and AC and restart and see.
Download latest Power Manager and Power Management driver.
Uninstall Power Manager and Power Management driver that is already installed.
Reboot the laptop
Install Power Manager and Power Management driver
Reboot laptop again and see if helps.

Go to Power manager -> Battery tab in advanced view -> Battery maintenance -> Select always fully charge ->Ok and restart the system.

Ensure that the system is plugged-in and that battery firmware is up-to-date.  Check the Lenovo support site for any battery firmware updates for your particular model.  Perform battery gauge reset.  This will allow the battery to relearn available capacity. Update BIOS to the latest level.

Regarding the power button, you may have to disassemble the system and reseat the button. Refer hardware maintenance manual to perform disassembly of the system. Otherwise, you may have to report the issue to Lenovo technical support again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please post back with the results!

Best regards,
Mithun.

The best thing is to con tact tech support. An write the settings down in a safe place.Doing a hard reset on the modem /router will give you control of the router, but it may lose your internet connection. Better to ask.BTW: The browser can save passwords for you.

So one of the main reasons I bought the x1 carbon was because I wanted a laptop with 3G built in. I hate messing with mifi or hot spots. All the promotional materials stated this would be Verizon capable and I even confirmed with two Lenovo customer service people that this would be Verizon capable before buying. I just found out today it is not, I know there is a thread addressing the lack of Lenovo broadband, but nobody from Lenovo has addressed the lack of Verizon support. I'm starting to feel like lando calrisian, in that this x1 carbon deal keeps getting worse and worse.  Is there any near term chance of Verizon support, or should I just send it back now and be done with it.

Answer:X1 carbon Verizon support?? Or Verizon wwan??

Will we see a Qualcomm GOBI card that supports Verizon LTE?  What about the Verizon 3G CDMA/EVDO network? I really don't care about the brand and maker as long as it works. I would like an embedded option, so would my wife.  I have spoiled her with the Verizon chip in her T400.  I would like to spoil her again with a X1 Carbon, but we would really like to use the Verizon network for data if possible. Could one of the Lenovo employees clarify what is available today in that regard? Thanks, Thor

I custom ordered my X200 and it got delivered yesterday. When you go to the X200 customizing, it already shows that it comes with AT&T 3G. Anyways, I call tech support yesterday, and they were useless. They couldn't even find my order in the system. I was on the train, so I couldn't open the keyboard at the moment, but I did when I got home and didnt see any WWAN card, but I wasn't exactly sure of what i was looking for. Anyways, the box it came in has the configuration on the outside. I took a pic with my iPhone, so its crap - no macro settings - but if you can somehow read the blur, the 3rd option down is AT&T 3G. There is also "WWAN Misc Part", "WWAN Misc Parts", and "ATT Option". So I'm assuming it comes with the built in hardware. It came with an AT&T 3G sim card already in the machine.  However, the machine isn't detecting the hardware. FN+F5 only shows wifi & bluetooth. I go into the bios, and I don't see a WWAN option anywhere. I read somewhere that one guy had to update his bios to get it to show/work. I'm assuming my bios would already be updated though. Did they just not install the hardware?  I figured I would get better support here before calling them again

Answer:X200 & AT&T 3G WWAN...Not detecting wwan

I have an X200 with AT&T WWAN and it works fine. A couple of things to check: My configuration shows = 42X6331 L1 WWAN Intg AT&T (3G); 42V8251 L1 COPT AT&T USA; 43Y3864 L! COPT WWAN MiscPartsIn the Thinkvantage - Mobile Broadband Connect - you should get a screen that has a "sign up" button and a "close" button. With the wireless power switch "on" (switch on left side of laptop) click the "signup" button. It will check the status of your card. If you have not signed up for service, it will NOT show you any signal strength, you must sign up for the service and the network has to put the ESN (Electronic Serial Number) of your card into the system for it to work. Do not try and use the AT&T Communications Manager software because it will not work with the Ericsson radio in the laptop. Just my experience.

If yes - which parts must I buy?Do I have to have only 3G modem card or any additional antennas or slots? Please let me know.Radek

Answer:X61s-non WWAN upgrade to WWAN

It really depends on if your system has antennas for WAN.  If so, there will be two wires that look like the ones plugged into the wireless LAN card except they will be marked one red and one blue.  If you have them, you can look in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the part numbers of the cards for this system.

Hi, I bought my Carbon Touch looking forward to activating with Verizon and replacing my current 3g ipad.  After hours trying to figure out how to enable broadband, I find out that apparently the "touch" models don't offer it.  Can someone at Lenovo explain how they can have promotional materials like the page at http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/thinkpad/x-series/x1-carbon-touch/ that says "ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch" and "Embedded 3G Connectivity" while not offering it at all? Then, I thought I'd return the Touch and get the regular Carbon, but I'm seeing now that, despite all of the reviews and promo materials that say otherwise, it doesn't support Verizon either.  How can this be true?  Just about every review that I read about these laptops is flat wrong on these topics.  What's the scoop? I tried calling technical support a couple of times and they were of no help.

Answer:X1 Carbon Touch WWAN (Carbon does not support Verizon and Carbon Touch has no 3G at all)

jprny,

Welcome to the Support Forums! I can definitely understand your confusion and I know you must be frustrated. I can clarify that the WWAN is optional in the X1 Carbon, from the same link you provided you can open the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Ultrabook Specs it states there is Optional 3G WWAN.

Here is the the X1 Carbon Personal Systems Reference (You will find the X1 Carbon Touch on the very bottom)
This shows the different models of the X1 Carbon and what specifications are included. Unfortunately, I only see AT&T as the 3G provider on the standard models. From the Parts List it looks like there are other options to choose from that would make it a configured to order machine. You may want to contact Verizon to see if any of the WWAN cards work with their network.

I would recommend contacting the after sales team:

I bought TPS230U in may2013, and one monthe ago, the laptop just turned off by itself and wont turn on anymore. I had tried troubleshoop refresh and resetting options but it doesnt work.
My warranty certificate is still valid for itnernational support (now I live in  Brazil), so that, I called Brazil´s support (My laptop ID is: Type 3347 2GU S/N xxxxxxx 13/02.
At the first time I contacted by phone, the attendant asked me to (once again) turn off the laptop  and call back again. Well, I did it, adn (of course) it didnt work. So I called once again. The second the new clerk said I should buy a cd or dvd ( which could not be via USB stick ) , download from other computer and copy  an image file  that lenovo would understand the problem . I explained that I had not cd to record that moment. But he was very rude, and told me that it the  support goes to my house and concludes that there is a software problem and not hardwa, I was supposed to pay for the visit. So, I went to a store and bought a recordable CD , recorded the ISO file and got home to insert it into the laptop and....for my surprise,  my laptop doenst have any  entry for CD ! I feel that lenovo has been really disrespectfull with me and all I want is to have a simple support to my laptop, but I still couldnt have. Pleaase let me know how can I solve this problem before my waranty term expires!!!

i currently have a dell Inspiron 5558 laptop for over an year now but the screen stop working over 6 months ago, i looked up the warranty information at the time of screen stopped working and was re-assured that it showed February 18, 2017 therefore i did not consider that it is very urgent to call tech support since i have other laptops. today when i call the support service, i was informed that product was not registered and i have to pay $233 to replace the LCD screen, they still argued that dell warranty website showed the correct information but when i looked it up, the website still displays the same.  did anyone else encounter this issue??
below is the warranty service which is still display at this time

Answer:Dell Warranty is reflecting incorrect data as per technical support and support manager

Was the system purchased direct from Dell, or at retail - or on EBay, Amazon, etc?

I keep receiving calls from fake MICROSOFT Tech support with various telephone numbers. Strange, they do not show up in my phone on line logs. They wanted me to go to FASTSUPPORT\763721586 ( do not use  these numbers). It is a company  called FASTSUPPORT.com. they also give you a complaint department where you can enter the number that you feel is causing you problems, the number of the LOGMEINRESCUE type remote access code. of course it is clear to them that you are suspicious and they will get rid of the  phone operator who didn't succeed. So do not bother to leave any complaint.

The scams may involve web pages with screenshots of fake Microsoft (Windows) Support messages, fake reports of suspicious activity, fake warnings of malware found on your computer, fake ransomware and fake BSODs all of which include a tech support phone number to call in order to fix the problem. I have a T430s laptop and it is less than 6 months old. It starting getting blue screens within a month of purchasing it. Technical support has been helpless in trying to fix the laptop. First, tech support told me to turn update my computer daily. Then another tech support employee told me to turn OFF my auto updates. This did nothing and over a few weeks the blue screens progressively got worse. Next, tech support told me to run a diagnostic on my computer which turned up nothing. Then, they tried giving me recovery discs and a new hard drive. After that failed they took it in to replace the system board which made the blue screens worse. Then they sent me MORE recovery CDs to try to fix the problem and that also made the blue screens worse. I called tech support after this and they said they would send in a request for a replacement laptop. I was told I would hear from someone in a couple days. FIVE days later I got a called from someone asking if I wanted a replacement and I said yes. Then I was told I had to wait two more business days to get contacted about it. Another 3-4 business days later, someone called me to tell me that they would NOT be replacing the laptop despite the fact tech support could not fix the laptop. After calling tech support once again, I was told that they wanted me to send in my laptop again for up to 7 business days! This is completely unacceptable. I have had problems with this laptop almost the entire time I have owned it and no one knows... Read more

I have just sent a thinkpad back for repair for the first time in over 20 years of owning  Thinkpad.  I have had 8 thinkpad  series laptops in my time as well as a few desktops and now lenovo phones. I am absolutely horrified with the diabolical Thinkpad support. This is meant to be business level support. I feel like I am phoning up Curry's.  Laptop sent back with hard disk in it and I am being told now that it "turned up without a hard disk in it". Now undercurrent of me lying. Original problem had not been assessed and I still don't have my laptop back after 3 weeks. Customer service agents just tell you anything they want to get you off the phone. I suppose all things come to an end but my loyalty to the Thinkpad brand is probably over now.  I am sure I am not the first. Has anyone else come across this?

Answer:Terrible Thinkpad Support Premium Prices for Sub-Standard Support. Business users avoid now.

Oh, yes. I'm going through something similar over the last few weeks. Here is my thread on it.Been updating it every week. All I ever get is blown off no matter who I talk to. Good luck getting your situation resolved. I'm guessing it was sent to their depot in Tennessee?

We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem.
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP

Someone told me in another thread, and I also read here, that

All Wireless N routers support dual-band 802.11nClick to expand...

implying that any wireless N router can use the 5 GHz band as well as the 2.4 GHz band. Isn't that the implication?

Then why is it that when I browse routers, only some of them list both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency, while others list only 2.4 in the specs? I want to switch my network over to 5 GHz in order to get away from all the interference I'm getting, as discussed in this thread.

So what's the real answer? Will any cheap "wireless N" router be able to do 5 GHz, (e.g. this one?) or do I need a more expensive dual band one?

Answer:Confused about router support for 5 GHz band. All wireless N routers support it??

No. The 802.11n standard supports 5GHz, but does not require it. Now if a device was 802.11ac, it will have a 5GHz radio since that standard only works on that freq.

Hello there, I'm interested in finding out more about the X220 - In particular the actual bandwidth available to the i7 Version of the X220 with it's USB 3 port. I'd like to be able to use the Black Magic Design Intensity Shuttle with this laptop, however it requires a Super Speed USB 3.0 Port. It's common for laptops to only use a single PCIe lane interconnect, giving the USB3 Port only 2.5gbps of available bandwidth. This won't be enough to allow that capture card to work  A similar situation also exists for the Expresscard slot - To be able to support Expresscard v2.0, It needs to provide 5gbps (2x PCIe v1 lanes). If it does this, It's possible I can buy an USB 3 Expresscard which will have enough bandwidth to use the card. In short I would like to know if the super speed USB 3 port can actually function at the intended speed, and is not crippled to half rate.

Started about a month ago - pops up over and over and over and over - about every five minutes or less.  I've got a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Professional.  Another forum said to just uninstall Dell Support Center (Support Center Software) - but when I try to uninstall it - THE SAME STUPID WINDOW POPS UP ASKING ME TO INSERT THE SOFTWARE.  I tried doing a Browse and it's looking for DSC20.msi.  I haven't managed to find it yet.  I have at least found \Program Files(x86)\Dell Support Center but there's so many sub-directories...
I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

I paid for 3 years of support and accidental damage in home support. Together, it cost around $400 on my new XPS laptop. Afew months after I bought XPS 15 9560, I pulled out the charging cord, and a round piece of plastic that was inside the port came out too.
I called technical support at 5 pm EST, and received someone in Southern India. I gave them my information, and they confirmed that I had service. They then fought with me for 15 minutes, telling me I could NOT have any in home service. The representative, who kept calling me by my first name (no respect)  said I had to send my laptop to a depot in Texas for them to identify the issue. Finally, after I insisted, the representative, S. Sirya Kiran, FINALLY allowed me to get in home support IF I sent him photos of the damage. I did. Finally, I received an email telling me to select a date for service, which I did, 12/18/17 between 9 am and 1:00 pm .
I took time off and waited. No one came by 11:30, or called. So I contacted World Wide Tech Services. They then told me they didn't have enough techs to handle my area, so they were NOT coming. I asked why no one gave me the courtesy of a phone call and they had no answer. They said a new company, Unisys, would contact me. (I doubt they ever will.)
Is this what Dell gives people for their money as far as support and accidental damage in home service for $400? This is an outrage.

When I installed Win8 on one computer I need a H.P. printer driver. So I went to H.P. support/download did not find the needed driver so I called their Tech. support. A friendly support guy looked at my system and told me my copy of Microsoft Win8 bought at Best Buy was not a legit copy, also my system had been infected and they needed to remove my Win8 clean my system and reinstall Win8. made me a deal of a reduced price of $250US I knew this was not right so I begged them good buy went to Best Buy where I have good friends in the Geek Squad. they got the needed driver and printer works fine.
Today my Netgear routher died, called Netgear to get my lifetime warranty. This also was a support in India guy said it would cost $39US to make sure it was the router I said thanks but no thanks. Took my old Netgear router back to Best Bye where I bought it three years ago and they gave me a new Netgear router. I needed setup help so called Netger as new user also in India guy was friendly looked at my system and helped me get it setup. Then he informed me my computer was under attack and my files were being read he could fix my system and protect my files for the small sum of just $85US. Well I was using a small backup H.P. computer on the Net. hardwired and it was almost never used. So I knew it was a India Tech. support scam again.

This is a General question regarding the end of support for XP. I realise at the end date the computer should be backed up in case you have to format the disc at any time after the end of the support period.

My question is does the built in Windows back up in XP when backing up the system include the installed updates? Or is it best to use third party software to do this.

shipboard

Answer:[SOLVED] End ofThis is a general question regarding the end of support for XP support

I believe Windows just backs up your personal files and won't do the entire OS. You'll need a 3rd party program to do the entire HDD.

Also you really should think about upgrading to Windows 7. Staying on XP after the end support date is not recommended as you will lose security updates from Microsoft as well as patches.

I have a Thinkpad T450s and it is just over a year old. It still has 3 more years of warranty. Edit: Warranty type: TPJ (This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to Depot service).Recently the lenovo solution center gave an critical error for the HDD (Read test failure) and I submitted an online request reporting it. Without even sending me an email or contacting me, they sent me a new part and gave me zero information about it. Apparently every other person can replace a HDD now!  I have created 3 more cases calling their tech support to send the laptop for a depo repair. Everytime the request is rejected 'at the vendor' according to the customer care. Neither the customer care people or tech support can tell me why. Every time they create a new case, tell me I will receive a depo bag nect day, and I dont receive anything, have to call depo customer care and on hold for minimum 40 minutes, only to hear that the case has been rejected they dont know why.One tech support told me now I have to send the new part back before creating a new case, otherwise it will be rejected again. but he does not know how I can send the new part back. The return label sent to me was for the faulty HDD.Can anyone help? What is the point of paying for warranty if I receive this type of service?
