Thinkpad x200 Windows 8.1 Graphics Display Driver Crash

Question: Thinkpad x200 Windows 8.1 Graphics Display Driver Crash

I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkpad X200 from Amazon. The OS it came with was Windows 8.1. I found out that whenever I try to play Steam games*, my screen turns black and then grey, repeating.I then have to ALT + F4 to terminate the program. I think my display driver may need updating. I am using Windows 8.1 64-bit and am currently using Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Chipset Family as my Display adapter driver. Whenever the driver crashes in a windowed program, a popup says 'Wwindows XP Display Driver has crashed'.Well- something along those lines. I have been searching, and cannot find a suitable driver that actually works.(Most aren't compatible) Help, please. -----------------* such as Portal 2, The Stanley Parable, TF2, and Polarity

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I upgraded to Windows 10, everything works out, but I noticed from Matlab that the OpenGL support is only on the version of 1.1. I further pocked around , and found the graphics accelerator driver is from Microsoft and has some known issues (from Matlab). Then I downloaded the Intel Driver Update Utility to update the graphics driver, but nothing can be found there. Back to Windows 7, the Intel Driver works fine for me and gave OpenGL ~2.2 support. Does anyone knows better drivers in Windows 10 than the default Microsoft one? Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Windows 7 has native driver for the card reader. Have you actually inserted a card to verify that Windows installs the driver? Also, is your OS updated?

If I try to install mobile broadband activation it say this is not a supported wireless WAN card installed in this computer, the setup cannot continue...... Any ideas happy people ThanX Andrew

Answer:Lenovo Mobile Broadband Connection Driver for Windows 7 - ThinkPad x200 5NG

you will want to check whetner there is a physical card installed. the x200 does have the card slot, but that does not mean that wwan card is installed. and even then ,its also not confirmed whether you have the wwan antennas installed. you will want to check your windows device manager and make sure you have a 3g modem listed under network adapters. if you dont, the card is unlikely to have been installed physically.

I want to install Windows-7 64-bit on my Satego X200-21U. So far, there are no video drivers available from Toshiba. All other available drivers (including nVidia genuine drivers) crash on the Satego.

What can I do? Can anybody expedite Toshiba to issue reliable Windows 7 64-bit video drivers for Satego X200-21U?

Answer:Satego X200 - Need display driver for Windows 7 64bit

Hi buddy,

If you can?t find Windows 7 64bit drivers for Satego X200 everything is clear: Your notebook doesn?t support Windows 7 64bit.

If you really want Windows 7 you have to search for drivers yourself on other websites like Intel, Realtek, nVidia, etc.
Alternative you can also try drivers from similar Toshiba notebooks but nobody can say if it will work or not. Everything happens on your risk and you must test it yourself.

Last but not least let me give you a word of advice: Just use the preinstalled OS from Toshiba with all drivers and tools. That?s the easiest way in my opinion.

Sigh.  Hopefully someone here can help me. Does anyone know the type model number for the Thinkpad x200 Ultrabase?? I'm trying to get a defective Thinkpad x200 ultrabase replaced because the USB ports stopped working.  Tested it with other USB devices, on other x200s, etc...no go. I tried going through Lenovo's <sarcasm> wonderful </sarcasm> tech support but for some strange reason they can not replace the part because they cannot find the model type in their system.   I sent them a 600DPI PDF of the back of the docking station to them and they said that they still couldn't find it in their system. This is a company laptop and it belongs to a vice president.  They want a proof of purchase (which I don't have because they are ordered through another department and to get that information it might take a week...at the earliest).  Why do they even have the serial number if they cannot connect it to anything in their system??? The worst part is that this is not the first time I've had issues replacing parts.  Every time it takes at least an hour and the parts NEVER come when they say that they do.  (sorry, once they did...bleeping miracle) I NEVER receive an email saying the part was sent or they are having issues, etc. WORST SYTEM EVER. I hope some high mucky-muck is reading this and gets pissed.  Their system is BROKEN and needs to be fixed. Thank you!

Answer:Display Driver Crash in Windows 10

TKaempfer Actually, that is NOT the date of the driver on the HP Website because, for reasons not made clear to us, HP insists on presenting two very different dates. If you click the Details button for that driver, you will see that it was actuall dated Aug 15, 2015 -- and thus, when you search for a newer version, there is none so you will be told that your driver is up to date. I suspect that date will match the other copy of the driver you have -- which means, sorry, there is no newer driver version. ========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

Hello,
Few days ago I decided to install a clean version of Windows 10 deleting all user files from PC. Everything seems to work fine, until I launched League of Legends. I got "Display driver has stopped responding and recovered" error. After that in Device Manager my Nvidia graphic adapter became hidden. I'v been reinstalling windows for 3 times, and tried a lot of solutions on forums, sometimes I could play normally, but sometimes i got that error. Can anyone help?

Answer:Windows 10 Display Driver Crash

I suggest you check with the Graphics card manufacturer for a W10 driver and install this rather than the driver you are currently using.

I am not sure if this is where it belongs, or if it is a Graphics Card issue. I have an Acer Aspire 7741z-4433 with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) p6200 (2.13 GHz, 3MB 1.3 cache). This only happens to me while I am playing The Sims 3. I have the game set on the lowest quality settings, even though my laptop "claims" to be HD LED, etc. This issue still happens. As you may know I cannot replace the graphics card as it is apart of the motherboard, and to buy a new motherboard with a better graphics card would cost more than a new computer. I have been the my manufacture's website and tried installing an update of the graphics card, and that didn't do the trick either. I am at my wits end, and I just want to play the game without it shutting down and freezing my computer. The reason I know the error is because I do Alt + Tab to get back to the desktop. The way it acts up while I am in game is the screen blacks out but I can still see the software's mouse, and then it blinks a couple times and then freezes completely, causing me to do a hard shut down. What can I do to resolve this issue?

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 home x86 and when I try to install my Graphics driver, about 30 seconds into installation, I get the Blue screen where it says something about a system crash. I can not go on the internet on this computer as when I try to install my network driver, I select English and i get this error. So I can not install that driver either. This is so annoying! I cant play my games, nor can I go on the internet to browse for a problem on that computer, or play online multiplayer. I run a Edimax wireless card, and a ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card. If any help can be, it will be by far appreciated.

It seems my display driver (AMD (HD) Radeon 7470M and Intel (R) Graphics Family) on my HP laptop (Beats edition 3002) is causing windows explorers and other programmes (e.g. Kaspersky, MS One Drive and BBC iplayer downloads) to crash. Please could someone help me?

After my Windows 7 auto update last week, my AMD Radeon 7400M display driver (14.100.0.0) failed to work. So, I tried to upgrade the display driver. The problem started to deepen as I tried different things to rectify the problem. I ended uninstalling Flash Driver, and the problem did not go away, so I reinstalled it. To cut the long story short, I went to HP website and reinstalled the original display driver (AMD (7470 and Intel (R) Graphics Family).

I would really appreciate if someone could help me find the solution.

Thank you.

My X200 has a graphics card issue with premiere pro for which the common culprit is old drivers. Of course, Lenovo's drivers are outdated and the installer from Intel won't let me install the newest one. The driver is from a couple months ago if I recall correctly. What's the usual turnaround time for Lenovo driver versions and will it ever get updated?  For a bit of background, you can read where I have posted about this issue and came to this conclusionhttp://www.adobeforums.com/[email protected]@.59b7cfc0/17 (read posts 18 and 19)http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/attend-world-premiere/141131-weird-problem-program-monitor-picture.html

Hi.  My laptop isHP Pavilion dm4-3107tx Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook PC.   I tried installing its graphics drivers from this link:  http://support.hp.com/ph-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dm4-3100-Beats-Edition-Entertainment-Not... but I couldn't install the intel graphics. It says that the laptop does not meet the minimum requirements of the graphics driver.  I also tried installing AMD and it did. But everytime I reboot, the Windows startup gets stuck. I also noticed it resulting to the stuck startup when I just recently updated my Windows including the update for the intel driver which I have not yet installed (because I know that once I did, I would have to do a lot of recovery and repair to the opearting system for the nth time). And now I really feel stressed over this because I have been formatting my laptop for the second time, and the last time was with the update of the intel driver. I was back at the stuck startup again and I really had enough of it. I really need help with this. Do I have to install ALL the drivers in the link before installing the graphic drivers to make sure that the graphics drivers will install?

Hi, I've upgraded to Windows 8 pro on my E520 and unfortunately i did this without checking if Lenovo had released the correct drivers for my laptop. They were for the most part but there doesn't seem to be one for the AMD 6630m/Intel 3000 Switchable graphics. This works fine but because its unsigned some win 8 apps wont work with it2. if u ask windows 8 to update/install a driver for the AMD card its actually able to find a working driver, but the driver will crash at startup and needs to be restarted before use. These are some solutions but i too am waiting for Lenovo to get going and make som functioning drivers for windows 8

I'm running Windows 7 on my X200. So far its worked well. Today, however, TVSU (v4.0) installed an update to the Intel graphics driver (GM45 display driver, 32 bit, v8.15.10.1968) and now my external monitor is virtually useless. It's a Samsung 181T (1280x1024) and it was connected and in use at the time of the installation. After rebooting the monitor is so dark it's unreadable. This is disappointing. I use my unit docked in an Ultrabase connected to a monitor and I need this to work properly. It looks as if the system now detects the external monitor as having a resolution of 1280x800, instead of 1280x1024.

Answer:X200 Intel graphics update today hosed external display

As an update to the previous message: the monitor was previously detected and workd as a Generic PnP monitor. I've now dug out an old CD and installed the driver for it. The monitor is now correctly listed by make and model and the screen resolution defaults correctly, but at no resolution is the problem of the horrible display any better, neither using the Ultrabase nor the VGA output on the side. My external display is unusable. I would like to roll back this update but the option to do so isn't offered. So far all of my TVSU updates have been flawless. This is really no fun at all. it seems I am not alone: http://communities.intel.com/message/73840 i don't understand the fix referred to at the end of that thread:        go into BIOS and disable the Intel VT-d I do not see an option to disable anything in the BIOS relevant to the display. Help please!

Just purchased a Thinkpad E550 and having instaled all the Windows 7 updates, I upgraded to Windows 10. Everything 'seemed' to be working well and I really like the look of Windows 10.However, several users here have multiple (2) monitors connected to their laptops when at the office and one when at remote sites. So this is a must have. When I tried to connect either a monitor or projector to the VGA or HDMI port I get 'No Signal'. It works perfectly well with Windows 7.Checking in Device Manager I find an exclamation mark on the driver, so I tried to update it. It is the most up to date (31/08/2016 Ver: 10.18.15.4281) but in properties I get the message: 'Windows will not install driverIntel HD Graphics 5500Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43)'  Ran every update on the laptop Chipset, BIOS etc.Uninstalled the driver, downloaded the latest from the Lenovo support site, but still it installs the Microsoft Graphics driver.Tried to install the driver from the Intel site, but get the message directing me to use the manufacturers driver. At a complete loss and with the laptop under warranty I called Lenovo Support, who then proceeded to reinstall the driver. Same problem - No VGA output No HDMI output! They then told me to roll back to Windows 7. Hi.
I wonder if anyone know if there will be any upgraded gpu-driver release for this card by toshiba in the nearest Future? They release this great notebook as a gamer notebook, but DO NOT follow up with enhanced drivers for the latest games.
I know for sure that there are drivers made by nvidia that support the latest games, and the latest gpu?s. And I know where to find modified versions to use. But if I use those, I loose the special features for x200 within the original toshiba-drivers? Or?
Or do they (toshiba) rely on us to find(and use) modded drivers, instead of releasing own versions? If so, it would be nice if they could say it openly. :)

Thanks in advance,

Jan

Answer:Need display driver for geforce 8700m GT in Satellite X200

Hi mate,

unfortunately they are sometimes really slow when releasing some important and fast changing drivers. Especially the display drivers which need to be up-to-date are so important and I don?t understand why it?s so slow.

In such case there is some alternative (which is on your own risk as usually). Check the website [www.laptopvideo2go.com|http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/] which is a really good resource for the newest display drivers (Nvidia/Ati).

But be warned, it could be that the fan?s could run at high speed, since I don?t know how the drivers are written. I just know that they work flawlessly on mobile systems and games are playable. But regarding the "special features" you?ve mentioned: I don?t have any clue. :)

Do the sad tales i've been hearing about laptop manufacturers never updating gfx card drivers apply to toshiba?

Any info on whether an update for their SLi systems' display drivers is on the horizon?

cheers -

Answer:Satellite X200-219: Question about display driver update?

The fact is that display driver cannot be updated every few days like for desktops. The priority by notebook manufacturers is to care about hardware functionality. Using new drivers the graphic card will be forced to run faster and better offering better graphic performance. The result is mostly overheating and can end with defective graphic card.

In this case the whole mainboard must be exchanged and it costs a lot of money. So, I think nobody can say for sure when the next driver will be available.

Welcome TudorTry download and install the latest Intel HD Graphics driver from Intel to see if the problem is resolved.

Have you got any solution of this problem?

Thx!

Is there any driver for display that work with Vista?
Is there any game or 3d application that works fine?

I've tried about 30 differnt versions, tried official (even chess in vista doesn't work properly it gives a driver error every minute) tried to launch games I have.

Even if it support Vista it simply doesn't work.
With SLI enabled or without it doesn't matter.
I've updated bios with latest availble from toshiba. It didn't help.

I've searched i-net for info and tried different solutions to make display driver work. I have 500mb display drivers from lap2go with huge number of infos for my nvidia card.

I don't know what to do. I'll try to go for XP.

Answer:Satellite X200-21k: Need Vista display driver to play games

Hi

Maybe you don?t need any new display drivers but you have to change simply the SLI settings;

Hi there! I've been plagued by high power consumption after waking from standby on my X200 for a while now, and someone finally pointed me in the right direction: The display driver is the culprit. After a system standby, the driver no longer activates its power management features correctly, resulting in roughly 3W higher power usage (cutting battery runtime from about 10 hours to 6). Restarting the driver (disable + enable in the device manager) drops the power consumption back down to the normal level. The issue occurs with both the Lenovo version and the original Intel version of the display driver, running on a clean install of Win7 Pro 64-bit with all-Lenovo drivers. Is this a known bug? Any chance of a fix, even if the X200 ist a bit dated?

Hi all, I use Windows 7 and the X200 display driver on the official driver page. The version is 8.15.10.1855I also use a Ultrabase, and connect it to the external LCD through DisplayPort.Sometimes the external LCD would start to flicker, then become black for several second, and resume automatically. Does anybody also encounter the same problem?Thank you!

Answer:X200 - External display is intermittently interrupted (Driver 8.15.10.1855)

I have the exact same problem, I purchased the Ultrabase in order to use it with an external monitor when I'm at home but every so often, the external monitor goes blank and then comes back on within 1-2 seconds. Sometimes it happens once every few hours to every minute or so. Is this a driver issue or a hardware issue? Did you ever get this resolved?

I have Thinkpad T410 (type 2522) ,its dual graphics nvidia 3100 and intel. But I want to know if T410 have driver with switchable graphics or no like in my old Thinkpad T400.anyone can help me???

Answer:Graphics driver and BIOS setting for ThinkPad T410 systems with switchable graphics???

Hey there donnytax and welcome to the forums!

According to the PSRef (page 308) for the T410 (2522), the machine was configured with the NVIDIA Optimus Technology. This technology auto-switches between discrete(NVIDIA NVS 3100M) and integrated graphics(Intel HD Graphics in processor), depending on task your are completing at the time.

You should be able to find this option in your BIOS -> Config -> Display, if it is an available option to you. The specific line you will be looking for will be something like "OS Detection for Switchable Graphics".

Currently, in the driver matrix, there are drivers for the Optimus Technology.

Note: Some T410(2522) came as a discrete only, and did not have the Optimus Option. Following the 2522 on the back of your machine on the tag, what are the next 3 alphanumerical characters?

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I have lost my display on my laptop screen since I replaced the standard Microsoft display adapter driver with an AMD driver.

Is there an easy way to restore the standard graphics driver so that at least I can see Windows?

The windows still boots, however I cant see anything on the screen. I know this since it accepts my login and password and logs in. I have tried to "blind-foldedly" navigate to the Device Manager window, by switching on Narrator and random clicks. It hasnt helped much

My monitor screen is OK since the laptop boot-up screen works as normal.

The last thing I did wrong was to replace the graphics driver and now I am stuck with the above issue.

Can anyone please help?

Kind regards,
NS

Answer:Lost display since I replaced standard graphics driver in Windows 10

Try booting from a Windows install disk, and via 'Repair your computer' start System Restore.

However, System Restore isn't so reliable and there have been certain problems.

If you followed the frequent strong recommendations here to use disk imaging, you could restore your system from a disk image.

Usually this happens when using firefox and gives me a black firefox window.  Usually I can hit F11 to go full screen and back to restore everything to functioning.  However sometimes firefox locks up, and other times, without any error at all, my mouse gets slow and then the whole computer locks up requiring a hard reset.

Hello, I have the following problem. We are using an application written in .net WPF. On our Lenovo ThinkPads (T 510) the application crashes (hangs) always after some short time of working with the application. I found out now, that the problem is the (tpnumlk.exe) process. If I kill this process everything works fine. Is there anything known about this problem? With what Tools is that exe installed? Thank you very much,Tobsel

Answer:Num Lock Display for ThinkPad (tpnumlk.exe) causes WPF Application to Crash

hey Tobsel,as far as i know, there should not be any issues if that process is killed. However, your num lock key may or may not work sporadically. For which ThinkVantage software has it, it is both the Power Management as well as the Hotkeys

I am noticing what seems to be a definite Windows 7 driver problem for T430 with Intel Graphics HD 4000 Display Audio.  I have the on-board integrated Audio and Video with Intel Graphics HD 4000.  And I am trying to connect my HDTV (Samsung plasma TV) to my T430 through mini-DisplayPort.  I can see images fine, but there are no audio though TV speaker.  When I try to configure some of my apps like WinAmp to send the output directly to Intel Display Audio, it runs into some runtime sound error.  In my sound play devices, I see Intel Display Audio and Realtek High Definition Audio.  Both are enabled and the Intel Display Audio is set as default.  Using the latest drivers (Display driver which includes the Intel Display Audio driver), at least now I can hear the sound through T430 speaker, not through TV when I am connected to TV.  But I still cannot hear through TV.  When I go to web sites like Youtube and play something, I only hear sound through T430 speaker.  When I try to test the speaker using each of the audio device, the Realtek HD Audio tests out fine, but not the Intel Display Audio.  It ends with an error. I've also tried to update to the latest Realtek audio driver from Lenovo site, however that gives more problem.  It said something about there's no speaker or something like that... I thought maybe it was my miniDP to HDMI adapter problem. So for the test I boot up my T430 with Ubuntu Live and I ca... Hi everyone! So i was wondering about something . When i play games in flash or even videos in flash the performance is not very good , the playback is not smooth . For example if anyone has an x200 and could try to play a flash game , the movement is not smooth , for example 8 ball miniclip pool . I'm wondering if this is a problem with the OS and may need to downgrade to windows 7 x64 or a problem with not being powerful enough the laptop to handle a simple flash game?  Thanks everyone!

I build my own PC about half a year ago, windows 7 x64 and ever since i've had a seemingly unfixable crash:

After a fairly random amount of time, (anything from 1 minute to 20 mins-ish), the graphics do 1 of 2 things:
1 - Freeze for around 10s with ambient audio/music (but not gameplay) still running. Then black screen for 2/3s, then desktop with error balloon from system tray saying "Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has sucessfuly recovered".
Sometimes the game will continue working until the next crash, and sometimes it'll just have stopped running.
2 - Graphics go black immediately accompanied by a loud buzz from the speakers, computer restarts after a few seconds of this.

At no point do I get a bluescreen, annoyingly, as that would have provided some debugging data I imagine.

If the PC's been left off for around 5 hours, I can get around 30 mins of gameplay on whatever settings I want at reasonable framerates, like 30ps on skyrim ultra settings.

Things I have done:
1. Bought a new power supply (I originally thought this was a power issue, it wasn't)
2. Run memory check, all clear there
3. Sent off my GPU for an RMA (Still waiting on that, but on a hunch tried running a game on onboard graphics, get exactly the same crashes, although obviously I have a lower FPS right now)
4. Updated motherboard BIOS to current, made no difference.

Anyone with any suggestions? I'm tempted to get an Nvidia graphics card, as the ATI dri... Read more

Answer:AMD Graphics driver crash

If it were just the "driver has recovered" error, I'd suspect a driver conflict/error. But the buzz and restart would seem to indicate a hardware issue. As it sounds like it is occurring with two video cards, I'd suspect the motherboard.

These driver crashes sometimes lead to the 0x116 blue screen crashes.

It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception.

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash. As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds. If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating. Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU. Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference. If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

Answer:Display driver crash

Hi Dylan,

I would try to do a full re-installation of the drivers, first I would use Revo Uninstaller to remove everything from AMD, reboot and then install the latest Crimson driver.

First here is a guide on how to use Revo:

Quote:
First, download and install Revo uninstaller. It opens with all the available programs on your computer. Also at the bottom it shows the total number of programs installed in your system.
Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems
You'll have to scroll down to the bottom where the free version is.

Now double click on any program you want to remove. Suppose I want to uninstall Google talk application from my computer. So here I will double click on Google talk icon.

It will ask you to uninstall the program. Click on Yes button.

Now select an uninstall mode. There are various modes you can choose from. The best mode is the Advanced mode which removes all the traces of the program completely.

Now another important feature of Revo uninstaller is that it creates System restore point on the computer before uninstalling the app.

Click on Uninstall button.

So I play WoW, and ever since my big virtumonde epic, i like to run AVG when I've got some downtime, like in the background when I play wow. It seems like if the two are going on when AVG finishes my computer crashes and it says a display driver had malfunctioned or something...is this normal? or is this one of those, if that happens, don't do that?

also didn't know what forum to post this in, so sorry if this is the wrong one

Answer:Avg + WoW = display driver crash?

Have you updated your GFX driver? I really wouldnt run WoW and AVG at the same time. That really puts a strain on your system and that could be why it can not keep the GFX driver loaded.

Have you tried to just play WoW and not run the scan to see if it happens?

Dear community, I found my screen starts flickering not long after I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my thinkpad x200 tablet. It happens especially when I have an external monitor connected to the laptop and when I maximize a Microsoft Edge brower on screen. Scrolling the mouse will trigger the lines on a page flickering back and forth or partially disappeared. This is really annoying when I want to scroll down a little bit to find some useful information. I have tried to use the "sfc /scannow" command to identify potential problems and to reinstall compatible Thinkpad graphics and video drivers, but no luck. I have also tried other solutions that I can find online (like disabling the issue reporting service), yet still this problem persists. I contacted Microsoft for their assistance, and they suggest me to ask the manufacture to solve this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks,Qi

Here is a quick soultion to this screen problem in windows 10  1. Type ?msconfig? in run box and open it 2. Click on the ?Services? tab. 3 Scroll down and find two services named ?Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel ?and ?Windows Error Reporting Service?. If you have difficulty finding these two services then you click on ?Service? column header in the table. This will alphabetically arrange all the services. 4. Uncheck these two services. Press ?OK?. Source: Fix windows 10 screen flickering problem

I've been having problems updating my Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver, 8.15.10.2119. It is the version that prevents Win 7 SP1 from showing up in WU. I read a thread about this very issue from 2011, but the link provided to go to Intel to get the latest driver leads to nowhere. I cannot find a place to go to update the driver. I manually downloaded SP1 and installed it and it is working fine. My question is: do I still need to update the driver, and if so, where do I get it from? Neither HP nor Intel is any help here. And would this driver cause IE9 to crash? The computer came with IE8 on it, but I installed IE9 in Nov. 2011. Shortly after, I was getting a message like "Internet Explorer has stopped working". I uninstalled IE9 and went back to IE8, but I had the same problem there as well. IE8 worked fine until I upgraded to IE9. Then I uninstalled IE8 and changed to IE9, where I still have problems. I have contacted MS Support about this, and one option given was to reformat the hard drive, which I really don't want to do. They were concerned about the fact that SP1 was not offered and hinted that the computer would be more vulnerable to problems without it installed. My firewall and anti-virus have turned up nothing. I use Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security. Any help you could offer would be appreciated. Tim

Answer:Could old Intel Graphics driver cause IE9 to crash?

Welcome to the forum.

IE 9 uses the graphic card (GPU) to do rendering of graphics in the browser, however it can be changed to use software as was done previously.
Open tools in IE 9 and select Internet options.
Then the Advanced tab.
Then check Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.

Hey guys,

I've done a lot of helping out in the past and now I am the one in need of help.

I recently got an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-210F with the AMD PhenomII X4 945, 8GB Ram, and an ATI HD5450.

I just took it out of the box today and ever since I've started it up for the first time, at the most random times (including but not limited to opening a menu, clicking the start button, typing something ANYWHERE, etc) the display will freeze, go black, and come back saying the graphics driver crashed and recovered.

Like I said, this happens at very odd times. I'm not using it for games or anything like that, it's a work machine. Sometimes it won't recover at all and BSOD with 0x124. I've gone through the 0x124 list on this site with no success.

Here's what I've done already:

* Updated the processor driver
* Updated the graphics driver (had an old 2009 version on it when I took it out of the box)
* Uninstalled/re-installed the graphics driver (since the above didn't work)
* Ran windows update

It can sit for a long time and not do anything whatsoever. Before, I updated the driver to the current version, I was getting "Kernel-Power" critical errors and an s-ton of "kernel panic" on screen before crashing.

I'm writing this from my other machine because I don't trust the stability of this literally brand new machine.

I've attached an exported text file from the event viewer of everything yellow and red. While I was doing that, the driver crashed aga... Read more

Answer:Constant ATI Graphics Driver Crash

This is a brand-new pre-built PC?

The Kernal Power error simply means the PC lost power. Not really a problem in and of itself.

The Kernal Panic may help isolate the issue though.
According to Wiki:

Quote:
Attempts by the operating system to read an invalid or non-permitted memory address are a common source of kernel panics. A panic may also occur as a result of a hardware failure or a bug in the operating system. In many cases, the operating system could continue operation after memory violations have occurred. However, the system is in an unstable state and rather than risking security breaches and data corruption, the operating system stops to prevent further damage and facilitate diagnosis of the error.

My advice: If you just purchased the machine, I would simply return it and demand a exchange ASAP.

Beyond that, the only other things I can think off right off hand is run MEMTEST and see if the memory is OK.

Possibly look in bios and see if theres a option for onboard/intergrated graphics and disable it since you have a physical GPU.

BSOD 0x124 I believe is a Hardware issue, just as the error seems to point to you are getting.

Post your dmp logs so someone can look at them.

I am not good at interpreting dmp logs or debugging, so hopefully someone can take a look at them for some more information.

Hello

I've had my Toshiba Satellite laptop that came installed with Windows 7 since April. Occasionally, there have been graphics driver crashes which always recover successfully. Usually when I view a film or the HD tv or something with lots of graphics/details. Supposedly something to with its Kernel or something...

My graphics driver is a: Nvidia GeForce GT 330M, and it's up to date according to the properties through the Device Manager. I'm not sure what to do. Is there possibly anything I can do to prevent the crashes? I don't want to have it crash and never return one day

Answer:Nvidia Graphics Driver crash

I would try uninstalling the current graphics drivers, then reinstalling same.

Well since my first post no longer gets replies and is now past page 5, I figured it was ok to make a new one.

I built a brand new computer with an EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO and have a resolution set to 1920x1080. For some reason when I play games(or just randomly) the graphics driver seems to crash.

To me it seems my power supply(420w) is too weak to support the graphics card at such high resolutions, but I would like to have this confirmed before I go and buy a new power supply(money is tight...). Or if it can be fixed without buying a new power supply that would also be greatly appreciated!

If it is the power supply, would 550 watts be sufficient?

Well, I got my first custom-built computer...built it myself. I'm actually proud of it. But every 5-10 seconds while I'm playing World of Warcraft the graphics driver seems to crash, and once a minute or two when it's just setting idle. Now, I want you to know that I did go to the EVGA site and download the latest driver for my card...and apparently that didn't change anything. Any help would be appreciative.

Hello,

my laptop is an MSI GT683R. Specs:

i7 2630QM, 2.00 GHz
8GB DDR3-1300 RAM
1.5GB MSI GeForce GTX560M (813 MHz core, 1250 MHz memory)
2x320GB 7200 rpm drives in RAID 0
Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Running MSI Kombustor's GPU stress test gets it up to 90C easily without it crashing. Same goes for CPU stress tests. HD Tune error check reveals nothing on the HDDs. MemTest86+ passes twice. It's a genuine version of Windows and it has been installed after formatting the drive(s). I've tried countless (both beta and non-beta) versions of the NVIDIA drivers.

The thing is, that whenever I run a game, or Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0, no matter the temperature or clock speeds, it'll crash after a few seconds to a few minutes (2 tops), showing this in the Windows System event log:

Quote:

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

The screen will flash black, wait a few seconds, and keep going until it happens again and again.

I've already put countless hours of trying out things and googling into trying to fix this. Does anyone have any more clues as to what is causing this and how to fix it? It's a pretty expensive (at least; it was) device and I don't just want to give it up.

To me, it's so strange that when tested individually, all the components (CPU, GPU, RAM, HDD) pass (stress) tests, but then when running that Unigine Heaven benchmark or a video game (Lord of the Rings - Online, for ... Read more

That happened to me too at first. Just update your Nvidia drivers to the latest one (314.22) and that should fix it. Also, if you plan to do gaming on the laptop, go to the Nvidia control panel, then Manage 3D settings and set the power management to maximum performance. This would've save me a lot of pain if I had known this in the beginning. Make sure SLI is enabled too.

The blue screen states it's an issue with my display driver. I turned off Flash movies from Auto playing as a work around. I have checked the HP website for a updated driver but found none. I reinstalled Flash. I have looked around the web and tried some tweaks that I have already forgotten but I am ready to try to resolve this. Can you try to help please? Thanks in advance

Okay, so a few weeks ago I tried to get a keygen for Sony Vegas 11 and shortly thereafter, although not entirely sure it was the cause, I began to have "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered" whenever an application was utilizing the gpu for hardware acceleration(youtube) and ofc games. There would also be artifacts such as pixelation and such. I proceeded to reinstall drivers, run norton and malwarebytes, but got nowhere. Spent hours googling finding no solutions and eventually just clean installed W7.

Things were working perfectly fine since 8-21 until today. I'd backed up and brought over important data to this clean install of w7 btw. downloads/videos/documents/steam games/mozbackup & themes are all back where they were before. Things were fine yesterday, the day before, than today everything's screwed up. I hadn't installed/dl'd anything at all today before the issue. I didn't visit any disreputable sites. Just things like Hardocp, Tech Report, Game Informer, Gmail, Youtube etc although I did visit Redtube but I'd done that, well, a lot for quite some time and never had any problems with it before.

I'm at my wits end atm and really don't know what to do. I really don't want to have to have to clean install again. The only thing I know how to do to fix this issue atm would be to wipe all my disk and clean install and start all the way from scratch. Please, help me.

Hello all, Last time I was on this forum was summer about 2 years ago, when the Y560 was pretty new.  I was here because of the weird, wide spread graphics problems.  Big cursors, messed up pixels, all kinds of things. After a series of BIOS and graphics driver updates my problems went away for the most part. But now I am back, because my computer is getting more and more frustrating to use. If I let my computer sleep, seemingly for any amount of time, when I resume using it, there is a very strong chance it will crash within 30 minutes.  Sometimes I get a weird blue screen, other times it just freezes, and very rarely it "recovers".  As of late I have been getting the old big cursor problem as well- where the cursor suddenly gets 3x as big and then the computer freezes. I have only seen it recover once or twice, and it says it was the display driver that recovered, so I am assuming that is the source of the problem I cannot tell you how many times I have had to hold down the power button and choke it out these past couple months.  Here are some screenshots of the display driver problems I have encountered, most of the time shortly after resuming from sleep.  The big cursor problem might be happening without having resumed from sleep mode recently, not sure I have not been keeping track. http://imgur.com/a/AmSST Anyone else have these or similar issues?  Any solutions?

Answer:Display Driver Crash (Y560)

By the looks of your pic's the graphics card or and MOBO are probably throwing in the towel. I hope you don't get upset with me for being blunt with you, but we live in a throw-away society and the people who manufacture laptops really would rather you update by two years seeing that many of the components used to manufacture your laptop are antiquated. I could almost guaranty you if you used a new Y560p, you wouldn't want to use your old Y560 again, the  components used to manufacture the newest Y560p would blow the older Y560 away. I just sold a current model laptop and I'm using an old desktop, sure I can surf or write documents, but I can't play model games and it's slow. Personally I would not longer own any laptop for longer than 18 months, seeing the longer you own it the more chance it will fall apart and selling the old laptop throwing in a few hundred is like updating a desktop's CPU & GPU. I know this wouldn't work for all of you, but it sits well with me.  I know many of you expect to own your laptops for many years, but for the cost of a hamburger meal once a week over a years or so, you're stopping yourself from owning the latest laptops with the newest technologies more or less forever.

Answer:display driver crash when using internet

in programs and features uninstall display driver, your screen will go into default resolution. try browsing then and see what happens. if nothing does, then you know it was display driver. while browsing without display driver go to your systems support site and download driver as save, close web page and double click saved file to install, reboot after you uninstall driver and reboot when you install driver. if you can use snip it to capture screen shot. also you might try updating driver from AMD.

Answer:ialmrnt5 display driver crash

Download and install a fresh copy of the Intel graphics driver from Dell's website (not from Intel's website as the graphics adapter fitted by Dell may be a custom modified version which requires a Dell driver). Go here and enter the Dell Service Tag which should be printed on a sticker attached to your PC: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/ukdhs1/DriversHome/NeedProductSelection

The Service Tag method of driver support ensures you get the exact drivers for that particular PC.
If Service Tag is missing, the link to your model's driver page below, but it may list more than one driver in each device section.
However, since your display device is an Intel model, you obviously need the Intel video driver, of which there is only one.
So if no service tag, go here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/ukdhs1

Scroll down to "Video" and click to expand that section. The Intel video driver is the last driver listed in that section.

Alright, so I used to randomly get the whole 'Display driver has stopped working but has successfully recovered' message, but not too often. It always 'seemed' like it happened during a youtube video.

Now, I have since upgraded to a 2 monitor setup, and the display driver crashing seems more frequent. Again, it seems to me as if it occurs during a youtube/flash video (I tend to have a -lot- of browser tabs open, a lot being youtube. Well I had a few display driver crashes and succesfully recovers (screen just goes black for a second then goes back to the desktop with that message), followed by a BSOD this time. Rebooted, loaded up all my browser tabs, was about to watch a flash clip and display driver crashed, recovered, then BSOD. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks! Also, I believe during the BSOD it was atikmpag.sys both times.

I keep having the display driver crashing when playing recent games. The display drivers crash both with a hd7700 with its latest drivers and with a 280gtx with latest drivers. I tried everything: updating bios, changing power supply, format c ... the problem persist. I have a vga monitor with an adaptor to the dvi graphic card and i see refreshing waves on the monitor because of that even with v-sync enabled (i also tried a different adaptor but i see the same waves); could it also be the problem that makes display drivers crash? I have no way to try a new monitor at the moment so since i wanted to buy a new one i d like to know if having dvi to vga change of signal could cause the problem.

Answer:Display driver crash when gaming

Try downloading an aftermarket program like MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X and overvolt your card(s). Or just underclock it (like 100MHz underclock, or more, on core and memory to see what happens). Try playing a game or two then.

Hi everyone,  I've bought an X200s in 2010. The default system is Windows 7. Every few months I would restore the system to factory settings so I can have a refreshed system.  I tried to recover the system today, but when I pressed F11 during boot up, the system said it "cannot find files".  So I checked out with the Q drive, but I accidentally chose "recover disk space" so Q driver was gone...  Then I took the DVDs recovery disks, I thought it would be easy... but the discs Lenovo gave me was for Windows XP Professional SP3...  Is it a mistake that they shipped me the Recoverey Disks for Windows XP? Or is there any other way that I can recover the Windows 7 to factory default? Thank you very much!

Answer:Thinkpad X200, Windows 7 installed in the system, but came with XP recovery disks?

Did you bought this from Lenovo directly? So machine was ordered with Win XP recovery media when they were shipped from factory. Right now you probably need to speak to the Lenovo warranty department and request a win 7 recovery media to be sent to you (if you are in warranty).Otherwise, you can use aftermarket Win 7 iso to do the installation and then activate it using the win 7 serial number under your laptop.Or Purchase a Win 7 recovery media from Lenovo.

I have recently bought a Lenovo ThinkPad L412 laptop. I got Windows 7 Professional with it. The graphics driver that I got in the recovery disc doesn't work. So, I uninstalled that driver and Windows automatically installed "Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4500" driver for it. I don't understand which card actually it is. I found this page: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-75692 for my ThinkPad L412 laptop graphic driver. But the page says that it will installed the "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 545v" driver. I have heard that HD 4500 and HD 545v is the same. "HD 545v" is the new name for HD 4500, as I have heard. Is that true? Will this driver work for my L412? I am asking this because the file is quite large, so I don't want to waste my bandwidth if that driver is not meant for me. Please help.

Hi, I have almost exactly the same issue as this guy over here http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19641213 .
The graphics driver crashes randomly while watching youtube videos, it goes black for a while, then recovers. However after I updated to the latest drivers Video_Driver_G7Y13_WN32_20.19.15.4531_A05, and now, when the screen recovers from the driver crash, all I can see is Chrome not responding and a notification window named Microsoft Windows shows up: "The application is not responding.  The program may respond again if you wait.Do you want to end this process?"
However I cant press anything, cant enter task manager or anything and I have to hold the power button to reboot.
I have Windows 10 64bit, i7-5600u. I reinstalled Windows multiple times over the time I own the laptop, the issue has always persisted.
Can Dell release a new driver that fixes this since this is a common issue? I doubt it's a HW related problem. Thank you for help.

Hi there I have a dell xps 15 L502x , for a while now i've had a problem when playing games on my laptop the game will crash and the screen will go checked ( thats a photo http://imgur.com/cICJel4 ). It will then freeze and i will have to power off the laptop with the power switch. My laptop has a Nvidia gt540m GPU and the i7-2670qm CPU. Ive uploaded a dxdiag incase you need any more info really. Sound will often continue over in the background (my sound isnt coming out of the HDMI port so i guess its avoiding the gt540m and is going through my sound card)

Ive tried the latest drivers from nvidia using a clean install and also the ones on DELLS website with a clean install too. I used to be able to play crysis warhead on mid/low settings no worries, and now the game will crash after like... 45 seconds of playing MAX. It even happened on Jedi Knight academy (a much older and low spec game) Any suggestions?

From your dxdiag report it appears your Nvidia driver is from 2011; the latest driver for your GT 540M was released in January 2014.

You also have an Intel HD Graphics card with a driver from 2011; I would also update that driver using http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect

I was playing Crysis a little bit ago, like I've done for a long time so the game isnt the problem, and it froze up and I had to restart. After that the computer started freezing up a LOT more like 3 times in an hour. The last time it froze, I restarted and there was no signal going to the monitor. The graphics card is an nvidia 8800 gt. After a while I plugged the moniter into the onboard graphics card which is an nvidia 8200 and it booted fine. I've used this card for about a year and havent had one problem with it at all. I think it may be a driver because I had recently used a program to backup my drivers and Im thinking that might have done something. If it is just a driver problem, then how do I re-install the driver when I can't even see anything when Im plugged into the card. Can I update the driver to the other while Im on this one? Because it doesn't show the other graphics card in the devices panel.
Also, I just noticed, that when I clicked my computer properties its showing I have 1.75 gb of ram when until now it has always showed 3. Could it be a ram problem?

Hi All,I Have a ThinkPad R50 1830-EM4 Dual boot XP,Vista,7. I need help with Vista. My video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. In vista's Device Manager, under Display Adaptors, the driver that is installed is a Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor. This prevents me from putting my laptop into sleep and some other features. I've heard that instead, you can install the ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 driver and that works fine, but I have done that previously - and two problems occur.1. Whenever I watch a youtube video and some other videos, in full screen mode, the video is all squabbled and you can't really watch the movie.2. Every time I install a display driver my laptop starts making a squealing high pitch noise, so I install the ATI control panel, and set the powerplay settings to battery optimized - and the noise vanishes - I use this method in XP. But in vista its different. (So with the 2nd problem, I don't really need help in trying to fix the noise, I need help getting a compatible ATI Vista control panel). So basically,1. Where can I get a driver for ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 - Vista2. Where can I get the ATI Control Panel/Catalyst software for Vista.I'm runningVista Ultimate SP21gb RAM ( will be getting another 1gb)1.5GHz ProcessorAll Lenovo Software & Drivers.Thanks,Dean.S

Hello again computer saviours!

Wonder if you can help me with this latest pc problem. For the past couple of weeks, maybe a month, my pc's had a problem where all of a sudden in the middle of whatever you're doing (generally when you're on the internet I think??) the screen suddenly goes black or blue. Sometimes it recovers itself, sometimes it crashes and turns itself off completely. I've also noticed that sometimes it sort of 'hangs' and then comes up with a message saying something along the lines of 'Display driver not working' (I don't even know what a 'driver' is, much less a 'display driver').

I've no idea what this might be related to (as you've probably gathered I'm a complete technophobe) so I've logged it under W7 but do please let me know if it should be logged somewhere else.

Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Jackie
