Lenovo Thinkpad X61 Battery Not Charging

Question: Lenovo Thinkpad X61 Battery Not Charging

Hi All My spare battery, which I have not used for a few months, will not charge beyond 31% now. I treid the 'Optimise for battery lifespan' option but this has not worked. In power management it initially said the condition was good but now it says the system may not support batteries that are not genuine lenovo etc. The battery is not genuine but worked before, I've als updated to W7 in the meantime. Any ideas of what I can do to get it charging again please? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen  running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging"  and even when plugged in, it?s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

Dear All,I have Lenovo Thinkpad T460S purchased almost a year ago. Today I suddenly faced problem in charging battery. Charger is plugged in and battery icon is showing "plugged in, charging" but actually it is charging very slowly. Normally battery is charged in one hour or so but today it took more than one hours to reach only 24% or so. Furthermore, soon after plugging in, battery icon shows "filling in process" for few seconds then stopped i.e no filling in process. Furthermore, after whole night charging, battery is now 94% charged, battery 2: 100% charged, fully charged; battery 1: 0% charged, not charging (please attached images). Please guide how to get rid of this problem?Thanking in advance. Shahid

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

It looks like the problem is pretty the same as with "Ideapad Z400 or Z500 battery will not charge - plugged in not charging". My battery worked fine when the OS was Vista , Windows 8, but after windows 8.1 installation it was "plugged but no charging". I already have reinstalled the windows, nothing happened. I tried to install the same firmware as Z500, but it isn't work. Lenovo Solution Center displays battery as "Battery software not installed". Downloading and running Settings Dependency Package does not help. I can't find a new firmware in any place  Please Help! By the way, I checked my windows version, and it appears Windows 8 Pro (like it was before I tried to upgrade to win 8.1)

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500: battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery

Hi, Denkendale ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do this test -

1) Switch off the laptop.
2) Disconnect power supply. Keep the battery connected.
3) Try to Turn ON the laptop.

If the laptop does not turn ON, the battery is faulty.

Also, Try turning the laptop off, removing the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, install the battery back into the laptop but don't connect the power cable and try to start the laptop on battery power.

Update us how it goes.

I am facing the below given 2 problems with the battery of a brand new lenovo U41-70 i5 Red model.

1. The plugged in but not charging error. Some suggestions in the web ask the user to remove the battery and change some stuff in the device drivers, but in my model the battery is not removable.

2. The battery dissipates a lot of charge while in complete switched off mode (not in sleep, nor hibernated). I have also disabled the windows fast boot mode from the power options, but doesn't work.
To give an estimate, in approximately 9 hours of shutdown (and the charging removed) the battery dissipates from a full 100 to 70%.

Note: I have updated the laptop which came with Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Hence, the system is running on windows 10 now. The laptop is 10 days old.

Hi, My Lenovo G570 battery is stuck at 90%. It says plugged in, not charging. It just happened over night. Next day battery refuse to work. In windows it says battery 90% and is not charging but battery has no charge at all. When I disconnet the A/C power laptop just shutdown immediately. As soon as I unplug the power laptop just shutdown as there is no charge in the battery. I did reinstalled the Power managment and also updated it. I all unpluged reboot in OS, restart, put battery back and boot into the OS back. Nothing seems to work. Is there any suggestions?  UPDATE: I just installed Lenovo Enery Managment in windows 8 before I was trying in windows 7. In the battery tab there are two options Maximun battery LifeOptimized battery HealthIt is selected to "Optimized battery Health" and won't change regardless of power plan. I click on  "Maximun battery Life" and when I open the app again it reset it to "Optimized battery Health". UPDATE # 2: Lenovo Solution Center say that battery life is GOOD. "Your battery is in good condition".

Hello All, I'll try to keep it brief. I recently purchased a B560 system and noticed the Battery Indicator (located on the left side palmrest) is flashing orange constantly. In addition to this, the Windows Battery Icon (on the system tray) is indicating that the battery is not charging at all. I've done some basic troubleshooting: Rebooting the system. Removed the battery, reseated it. Unplugged the system from the power connector etc. and the system still indicates the battery isn't charging. More details:The system was manufactured March 03, 2011 and purchased new from on Bestbuy May, 2011.Windows 7 64bit, recently upgraded to SP1, no other issues to report

Hello I am trying a power gauge reset in the first instance but wanted to find out if the battery is covered under the warranty as it shows plugged in charging but does not go above 8%

Answer:Lenovo G50-70 not charging is the battery is the battery covered under warranty?

Hi sasman20,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To answer your question first.
(Yes the battery is covered under the Base warranty of 1 Year)
Call Lenovo Technical Hotline for assistance

Also try this step as this helped other with battery problems
1. Turn OFF the Computer and Remove th AC adapter (Leave the battery connected)
2. TURN the computer back ON and start hitting F2 (This will boot the computer into BIOS)
3. Let the computer ON inside the BIOS and let it turn off by itself due to Battery loss of Power.
4.  Now charge the battery again and check.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Hi all Both my external and internal battery of my X240 is not charging even though the charger is plugged in. None of the solution in this forum worked for me.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers under Battery in Device Manager.I tried reinstalling Power Management software. All of the above didn't work. I think the problem is my charger because I tried unplugging the external and internal battery but plugged only the ac adapter, the laptop couldn't boot up.  Is there any possibility (outside the battery, and which one?) that there is software fault or maybe the plug of the charger in the laptop broken?  please help anybody. Hello there, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 42914CG that will not charge my 9 cell battery nor the 4 cell battery I bought extra.  This computer is only a few months old, so I can just send it to service, but I'd prefer to fix it myself if it's just a simple issue of updating the BIOS firmware or similar. Observations: When I pull out the power cord from a running laptop, it immediately blacks out, so I assume the battery is totally flat. When I plug the power cord in a shut down laptop, the battery lamp on the laptop lid flashes green three times and then stays off. When I plug in the power cord, power on, and enter the BIOS, the laptop battery lamp doesn't indicate charging; usually it would flash orange, then green, and finally stay green.  (The point of entering the BIOS here is to keep operating system-specific issues out of the equation). When I boot into Ubuntu 11.10, the battery indicator says that the laptop is on AC power and the battery is charged 5%.  The history charge graphs show that no charging has been happening the past few days. Here is the battery-related information I can retrieve from the ACPI driver:[email protected]:~$ tree /proc/acpi/battery//proc/acpi/battery/??? Answer:Thinkpad X220 battery not charging

Zta,

This seems odd that the situation has affected two unrelated batteries.

I know we had some no charge issues on other batteries and we've released firmware updates to address them, but I don't see the X220 listed.  Here is an example of the firmware update for some other models..
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-75738

I mention these in case you are searching ...

Since those don't apply, I can think of several possibilities...

1) Software settings.  If you were running windows, with our power manager, you could customize the charging start / stop thresholds.  Since you are running Linux, I don't know if there are similar controls.  I'm also not sure, but if the system were off and the battery needs charging and you plug it in, I would expect it to charge regardless of the settings.    I don't think this is it because you note they won't charge even with the system off.

2) Out of spec AC adapter.  It is possible that the output from the AC adapter is out of spec - under volt or under current - less than expected wattage.  You can easily test voltage with a digital multi-meter if you have one.  Given the degraded system performance, this might be the first thing to try.   Are you running the 65 or 90w?

Another reason to start there is that service can just ship you another AC adapter and you don't have to send in the system.

a short & simple question:  can the battery be charged by plugging a USB charger into one of the USB ports?  (this is not covered by the manual, but I think I recollect reading a comment in a review that this could be done)   or is the only means of charging by using the supplied power pack?

Hello everyone,About a week ago, I got an error message saying something like the battery cannot be identified (I'm trying to find a screenshot somewhere).Since that moment, the battery does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged in, while the battery is nearly full (>90%).I found this thread and it fits exactly to my problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Thinkpad-Yoga-14-battery-quot-plugged-i... I understand that this behaviour might be a feature to improve the batteries lifespan, but I really want to get rid of that. The Lenovo Settings App offers the option to manually set the charging-threshold to 40-100%, but setting it to 100% or turning the feature off does not change anything.Another side effect is that the charging process does not begin until about 1 minute after the AC adapter is plugged in.I didn't knowingly change anything on the software configuration when the problem appeared, the said error message appeared while watching YouTube-videos. lg, couka

Dear Lenovo, I was using Windows 7 but I have recently changed to Windows 8.1.In Win7 I was able to install and use the Lenovo Power Management software and I changed the battery threshold to 40-50%. After I installed Win8.1, I realized there is not any E531 Power Management software for Windows 8.1 therefore I cannot charge my battery above 50%.It looks like the power management software makes somekind of hardware related changes otherwise it should not remember my previous settings what I made it in Win7. How can I change the thresholds without reinstalling windows 7 and power management software?Could you give me a link to a usable Thinkpad E531 Power Management software for Windows 8.1 (which is 100% working)?Any other solution? Thank you!

I have a laptop that after updating countless drivers has suddenly been giving the message "plugges in and not charging".  I have: Unninstalled the battery drivers and re-installed them. unpluggged the battery and plugged it back in. Tried to completely reset the battery - However, the  power manager only says that the condition of the battery is "unknown" and eventually after the reset process is on for a couple hours I get an error message.  I read somewhere that reseting the BIOS may fix this problem but I do not want to risk updating the BIOS without a charged battery and only using the AC adapter.  Please, help!  PS. I do not know if this is relevent but shortly before the laptop stopped working, I updated the RAM (4gb) with an extra pair of 8 gb so that in total my ram is 20 gb .

With this laptop, the CPU usage rises significantly whenever the battery is charging. If I'm on running on battery power or it's fully charged, I don't have this problem. The CPU stays at 2-3% while browsing the internet, for example. But browsing the internet while the battery is charging will send the CPU up to 90-100%. It's not just browsing the internet, but any task, such as running Sony Vegas, using Skype, watching a movie, etc. Again, this only happens while the battery is charging. Everything runs much, much slower. All power management settings are identical whether it be running on battery or charging with the AC adapter, so it's not that. I am also using the 65w power adapter that was supplied with the computer, and the adapter becomes very hot to the touch while charging. Does anyone have a solution for this?

It isn't a problem.  The battery has a nearly full charge, so the charging turns off so as not to "cook" the battery.  If you unplug the battery and let it run down a while, then plug it in, it will charge.  I tend not to charge mine until it gets under about 70%.  A Lithium battery slowly degrades after a certain number of charges.

Welcome to the forum!

If the second battery is a *known good* example that charges in another machine, then the charging circuit on the motherboard has been damaged.

Yes, this is another thread created because there is a problem with an SL500 and the battery. Have had it for a little over a year (warranty expires after a year). Here is the issue:When my Thinkpad is plugged in and the battery is connected, the battery icon reads plugged in, not charging. Scanned the battery and it says the battery is in good condition. The battery has 84% power. The second I unplug the laptop it immediately loses power and shuts off. Its like the laptop does not recognize there is a battery in it with ample power. I do not think this is a battery issue because the battery has plenty of power.I have seen multiple threads with owners that own the same laptop that have had the same problem. Most of them said they tried buying a new battery and that did not work.To make it even better, I called IBM support and because my machine is no longer under warranty they will not provide support or troubleshooting assistance. On top of that, in order to get the laptop fixed by IBM/Lenovo it is a 575$ fee. This issue has been acknowledged by multiple Thinkpad SL500 owners. This is ridiculous, I bought the **bleep** thing for like 650$. I will probably just buy a new laptop if the problem persists and I cannot fix the issue. We will just have to use this laptop exclusively when it is plugged in only.Any assistance or ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Hello I am using ThinkPad X220 with 9-cell battery (FRU P/N 42T4940)Yesterday, I update my system with Lenovo system Update, and the battery firmware update is the only important updates that I (try) to install. Long story short, when the program said that the sytem will automatically shuts down after the firmware update is complete, I clicked next to start the upgrade. Suddenly my system shut down right after the firmware upgrade started and when I turn it on again, it said that the firmware upgrade was failed and I need to turn my computer off. After I turn my computer on, the Power Manager said that my battery canot be charged because of poor condition from normal wear (my battery still can hold more than 85% of charge, more specifically 87%).I even tried to update it again using Windows 7 but no luck. From that on, I cannot charge my battery despite any ways that I tried (reset power gauge, take off the battery while the system turned on and charge it when it turned off, etc) Is there any solution for my problems?Anyway I am using the latest version of BIOS available (1.42 - EC 1.24)I am using UEFI booting with GRUB as main bootloader (Windows 10 and Debian 8.0) but when using Windows 7 I am using the legacy booting with GRUB as main bootloader

It may be that the battery is just failing.  There is a lot more to battery health than how much charge the cells can take,  If yours is the original battery for the machine, it has been used for a normal life.  The service manual for your machine https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/0a60739_04.pdf

shows the procedure for checking the battery with a meter on page 34, but there are orter types of failure that won't show up.

Dear Community!

I have a problem with my Lenovo ThinkPad X300 computer. The battery charging stuck at 99% (remaining capacity about 69% and 300 cycles). The Power Manager displays, the battery is at 100% but "status" periodically changes - both Power Manager and Windows battery indicator - between "No activity" and "Charging".

Every time stuck at the same "Remaining capacity". As i noticed durin battery user windows and the Power Manager displays differet informatioun about the remaining battery level and time.

I wish you can help me.

(Fresh installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit)

Thanks!

(Here is a picture about my problem. At the windows dialog "csatlakoztatva, töld?tik" means "plugged in and charging" - my windows is hungarian located.)

Answer:ThinkPad X300 battery charging stuck at 99%

Hi Mobal,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

This is quite normal feature in ThinkPads to prevent over charging and thus preventing unnecessary battery cell degradation.

Refer this article and see if it helps!

So I got myself the Lenovo ThinkPad W510 the other day, specific model being "431929G", along with it I got myself a 9-cell battery instead of the included 6-cell as well as this additional "slice battery" solutions which you attach at the bottom of the computer using the docking port it seems? The box which this slice battery came in was marked model 57Y4545, the piece of battery inside however says FRU: 42T4739? I guess and hope it's the same thing?  It does attach to the bottom of my W510 without any issues whatsoever, I lock it in place so I get that green indicator which should mean it's supposed to function? But it doesn't.. ThinkVantage Power Manager do pick up the battery but it's just standing there at 12% battery with no activity? Even after the main 9-cell is fully charged it wont start to charge the slice battery? I did even remove the main 9-cell in order to see whether or not that would change anything, but it didn't? And if I remove the power cord when running only the slice battery the W510 will just drop dead? So it's not charging, neither is it providing my W510 with any more battery life? It just sits the with 12% battery with no activity whatsoever, no charging or usage at all?

Answer:ThinkPad Battery 27++ (9cell) 57Y4545 wont work with my Lenovo ThinkPad W510?

Are you sure you're running the latest power manager? I.e., have you updated all the system drivers, os drivers, bios, etc.?

I have a Lenovo T430 running UBUNTU 14.04

I have just bought a new battery (official battery) and it was fine for a couple of weeks, but now it doesnt charge, and the battery light flashes amber continually. I checked the battery status and it says 0 for charging.

I have searched online and there are suggestions for WIndows about deleting drivers, but with UBUNTU there doesnt seem to be a solution?

Can anyone help please?

This is my statistics from lenovo settings regarding my battery. I would be glad if I can get your opinion regarding whether this is normal or not. Whether it is going down too fast. Remaining Capacity: 39.75 WhFull Charge Capacity: 42.19 WhCycle Count: 30Manufacturer Name: LGCManufacture Date: 8/19/2015First Use Date: 9/18/2015Design Capacity: 50.22 Wh Do you think that my battery is degrading a bit too fast considering it has only seen light amount of charge cycles and it has only been one year? I am surprised that the full charge capacity is now only approximately 42.19/50.22 which is only 84% of total design capacity. Is this somewhat normal in terms of battery degredation? I have an old thinkpad T510 where according to its power manager it still has like 90% charge capacity of the designed. Maybe it is because in the old power manager it had the charge threshold and the new thinkpad x1 with windows 8/10 did not. Fortunately there was an update which allowed for Charging Threshold so that should help increase the battery longevity....but alas it came too late haha...

That does seem a bit fast. Below are the stats from a 2nd gen X1 Carbon with an older battery and higher cycle count.

That said, battery deterioration depends on many factors like temperature, recharging protocol, manufacturer, etc. It can vary from battery to battery. This is like how brake and tire wear can differ based on automobile driving habits.

As far as I know Lenovo considers a battery to be defective if the Full Charge Capacity becomes less than 80% of Design Capacity in the first year. Seeing as your battery is close to that threshold I'd contact Lenovo to see how flexible they are. Also ask if they've seen significant differences in premature battery wear between LGC and SMP batteries.

Hey guys thanks in advance for the help. I want to be able to charge my laptop batteries just from a variable DC charger but I dont have any schematics. Is there a general pinout for these battery charging contacts or is it different for each. If so I am primarily interested in older Thinkpads (A31 ... etc) as I have come into a bunch with faulty charger or motherboard charging issues. Thanks again. steve

After a system update yesterday my laptop battery icon indicates that it is plugged in not charging.  A quick Google search revealed this is a known problem however attempts at some of the suggested fixes have been unsuccessful in my situation.  I've tried:taking out the battery and uninstalling Microsoft ACPI-compliant Control Method Batteryupdating the power management driverupdating Lenovo Settings Dependency Package(The Windows power plan is set to balanced) The timing of the problem (after an update) and the fact that the laptop is 2 months old lead me to think it is a software rather than a hardware problem. Any helpful suggestions for what I could try next?

Answer:Charging 6-cell battery for first time for Thinkpad Edge

On the way to buying my Edge, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite at Best Buy.  I took it back within a few days because there was a problem with the harddrive.  Anyway, one of the Geek Squad representatives (Geek Squad handles all technical related issues for Best Buy customers) told me to charge the battery fully prior to first use, then every day for the first month--but at a minimum of two to three times--use the battery up completely and recharge to full.  This will prolong the life of your battery.  He told me people think they are doing good by leaving their laptop plugged in all the time and the opposite is true.  A battery won't hold a charge if you keep it plugged in.  I thought that was pretty interesting! I can attest to the accuracy of this gentleman's information.  I have a Vaio laptop that absolutely can't hold a charge.  It doesn't last ten minutes.  I've kept it plugged into the wall almost constantly.  I had no idea!  I almost did a forehead smack right there in the store when I realized.

Have you ever set a battery charge threshold?

What happens if you let the battery discharge from the 47% in your screenshot, and then plug it in again?  Will it recharge to ~47%?  Or will it then be stuck at the new (lower) level?

What charging threshold do you have set in either Lenovo companion or Lenovo Vantage app?  For me I have it set at 70% and 80%.  In other words my battery wont charge until it falls below 70% and it will stop at 80%.  So if its at 75% for example it will show "plugged in, not charging"

My thinkpad battery is not charging. It says "plugged in, not charging". Lenovo solution center just says "error detected" while the power manager says "communication problem" and gives no battery details except a firmware code. I tried battery firmware update utility but it says that there is nothing to update.Battery is not getting charged and the laptop shuts down as soon as I take the AC adapter cable out. I have tried different AC adapters so that is not the problem. I had the same problem with my old Thinkpad X60t and never figured out the problem (I tried multiple batteries and chargers with that laptop). This has rendered the laptop basically useless.  Please help!

Hi, I have got a Thinkpad S440 recently. Before this, I have a U460 which come with a power management tool with option for keeping the battery level < 80% for longer lifespan (I guess everybody know this).  I want to install this in my S440 too, but I cant find this tool in the thinkpad s440, instead there is a power management driver, which after I install nothing different happen? I tried around with the Lenovo Energy Management but nothing really change, my laptop still charge up to 100% (which is 44Wh over the original 45Wh) From checking the forum, I think that a power management tool for s440 certainly exist, but i cant seem to find it. Maybe there is just none for WIndows 8.1 ? Thanks for any helps !

One day while using my laptop, the battery of my laptop was about to drain completely so I plugged it in. But the battery was not charging. I changed the plug point thinking there was some problem with the socket but still it did not worked. I removed the battery, reinserted it and tried to charge again but the problem still presisted. Then I removed my battery and plugged in the laptop. The laptop was working fine. Keeping the laptop plugged in (laptop shut down) and reinserted the battery. The battery charged for a while then the power button and power light (in the front on the edge of the body) started blinking. Therefore, I removed my battery. So now I charge my battery by first plugging in the laptop (battery removed) and then reinserting the battery. The blinking poblem also occurs very often.  Also when the battery is attached to the laptop and I try to charge it the laptop does not powers up. Model: Lenovo B40

I think it could be a problem with the AC power jack.Machine Type : 20DQCTO1WWAny suggestions to fix this problem.Thank you.

Hi, I have G770 and noticed yesterday that power button and all four LED indicators are blinking at regular intervals. It happens when the battery is in the machine + it's plugged in. Battery was almost empty, I've plugged it in to charging, after 2-3 minutes, this blinking is repeated. Unplugged, plugged again, nothing has changed. In power management, all is set to full charging ('Optimize the battery lifetime'). Is that up to battery or....? Thanks

Answer:lenovo g580 battery not charging

Dear koolkat,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Do you notice that the battery stop charging at certain percentage?

Do you mean that the laptop only works with the charger in?

Joseph

Hello everyone!  My lenovo G40-30 would not charge and would not power on anymore. This is what happened, 4 days ago before the problem occured. I was about to shut my laptop down when new updates became available. Upon shutting down, the options were to Restart and update, Shutdown and update, and there was another one which I forgot. What I did was shutdown my laptop but it said do not close or turn off computer as it was updating. Because I was going home from school, I had to close my laptop and put it inside its bag. It was not opened until after 4 days.  When I opened it, it was still updating and after few minutes it said battery was low so I plugged in the charger. At first was charging fine. When it reached 60% it suddenly stopped charging. I unplugged the charger and used my laptop as usual. Again after just few minutes it again said battery low. When I plugged in the charger again, it won't charge anymore until the power went off.  Please help. What should I do? I badly need my laptop. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I am about to start college this week and I recently bought a new lenovo yoga from bestbuy about 2-3 weeks ago and up until yesterday night it was working completely fine. I shut it down before going to bed and this morning when I attempted to turn it on, it alerted me that the battery was dead. I didn't think too much of it so I plugged it back in and saw that the battery remains STUCK at 0% no matter how long it has been charging. When the laptop is on it says "Plugged in, charging" but it hasn't been storing any energy. Help????

I removed the battery after taking out a lot of the screws on the back so I could upgrade my ram memory modules.  When I put the battery back in, I get a blinking orange light indicating in the task bar "battery not charging at 27%.  Is the battery dead, or is there something not connected correct?  Do I need a new battery? I do not know where the ThinkPad battery advantage page is located?

Answer:Battery not charging Lenovo Z61t

The Power Manager software is where you can find out about the health of your battery - the number of cycles and the remaning charge capacity vs the design capacity.

Good afternoon, maybe it was already posted but little had no results so i'm opening another message Yesterday i told my battery power management to run a battery gauge reset test. But i think this damaged my battery. My battery will not recharge in what settings i put it. In the energy management tool when the battery is in my laptop i see that it has a Good health but is only discharging. With the power adapter connected to it. I have it put on maximum battery life. Is there something i can do to try to see what my problems are.I already measured my voltage and amps on the power adapter and that seems to work properly. Before i send it back for repairs i taught maybe somebody else has the same problem i have

Welcome to the forum ! As you sure the Battery Guage reset procedure completed its full cycle?  It sounds like your computer is still in its discharge phase.  The procedure for resetting the guage will take several hours to fully complete.  I did mine yesterday and it took almost 4 hours.  If nothing else, try re-running the gauge reset program and let it do its thing without interuption.  It may correct the problem on its own.

hello, I have a lenovo g50-45 laptop. It's a great laptop but recently I have been having a lot of trouble with the battery. Afew days ago, I started noticing that while the computer is plugged in to power, the battery always stays at 0%. It says that it is "charging" but it remains always at 0%. The Lenovo Energy Maneger says that "the battery is weak and needs to be replaced". I tried to do a "gauge reset" but it did not do anything. Under my laptop, the region under the power connection is very how while the battery is very cold.  I am not sure what's going on. Can anyone help? It is unique because it says that the laptop is 'charging' yet the battery always stays at 0% and does not actually charge. I suspect its the "Lenovo Energy Manager" that is preventing the battery from charging because it thinks that the battery needs to be replaced. I tried uninstalling the "Lenovo Energy Manager" but I am not sure how to do it. It does not show up in the list of programs in control panel. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

I'm facing very strange issues with my LENOVO G50-70, whenever I plugged charger in my laptop suddenly it goes off(complete power off) and when I power on it again if I suddenly touches the charger or move my laptop it again goes off. It works fine on battery. One more issue is my battery won't charger 100%, it stucks at 99% (cannot performe gauge reset in case because for gauge reset it must go to 100%) and when battery level come close to 30% it shows me 7% and shutdown. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
