X230 3 monitor support

Question: X230 3 monitor support

Hi, I'm after some info, I seem to find conflicting reports across the web.I need to run 3 external monitors from my X230 in a Mini Docks series 3. If I use:Dock DP to Monitor DP (or DVI)Dock VGA to Monitor VGA Could I then use a thurd monitor using either:X230 mDPorX230 USB 3 with a USB3 to DVI adaptor I am not looking to run big screens, 3 x 21" or there abouts would be sufficient.Any help would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out £1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

I've been on the phone to Lenovo support for the last 6 weeks, they have been absolutely unhelpful, and I don't know where to turn! My brand new (1 month old) X230 decided to BSOD, and I couldn't boot (even in safe mode). I'm not a big techie, so after trying to boot from a USB and not getting that to work I rang support. That was at the end of October. Since then i've been told twice that a box has been sent to return the computer in (10 days apart after ringing to find out when the box was coming), then told they didn't send due to "an error in our system" (again, after I rung), then i was told that a technician would come to look at my machine, then after hearing nothing for another week, I was told that customer support would contact me to find a solution, and now i've been calling every 3-4 days, everytime told that customer support would contact me or someone would "personally take care of this issue".  I haven't had a single piece of correspondence from a Lenovo employee in all this time. I'm ridiculously frustrated! the most expensive thing I've ever owned and its worthless after a month and the support staff are absolutely taking the piss. I spend my evenings on hold at the support centre! I took the PC into a local shop ($100 later), and they think its a failed SSD which is the problem. What should i do? I have no faith in Lenovo support, and I feel like I've been straight up ripped off. Am i going to have to give them more money to order an... Read more

Answer:Failed X230 SSD, and no support!

stuNZ,1. can you access to bios setup (in case you have win 7)? If yes, disable Secure boot and try to boot from usb stick2. if you have Factory_Recovery media you can reset laptop to the original stage3. do you see the screen with string about pressing thinkvantage button while laptop boots? If yes do it and you'll appear in Recovery environment4. if previous answer is no, do you have Rescue media (you could make it using Lenovo Rescue&Recovery tool)? If yes boot laptop from that and you'll appear in Recovery environment too. What's the model of your SSD? What do you see on BSOD (I mean error codes and short description in capital letters)?

Hi guys. Can i install a wwan module on x230 Type: 2325-Q34, i mean dose it have the antenas and things ?If yes what wwan module should i for european carriers. And maybe a guide on howto install the wwan module. If not thank you.

Answer:X230 2325-Q34 WWAN Support

HiUnfortunately, I couldn't find official confirmation your laptop is "wwan ready", i.e.has wwan antennas installed. Antennas kit FRU in your laptop is 04W1409, wlan and wwan kit. Nevertheless, laptop might have or not have wwan part of them. So, to ensure, it'd be faster to disassemble keyboard and check out whether wwan antennas are there, red and blue wires.x230 compatible (Lenovo approved) wwan modules are:- Sony Ericsson h5321gw (I'd advice to not get that)- Sierra Wireless mc8355 (Gobi 3000), for 3g networks- Sierra Wireless mc7710, 3g+LTENote, the cards should be with Lenovo p/n (FRU).

Only the MC 7700 and MC7750 are supported for the X220 at this time for the US 4G market.  I'd guess that support for other versions in future will depend on the size of the potential 4G LTE markets.
At this stage of global 4G LTE deployment, support for a particular implementations is generally somewhat more than just having support for specific bands, so there is no gurantee that a MC7710 would actually work with your 4G carrier(s) in Hong Kong.

For instance, 4G LTE in the 700Mz band (where most of the global 4G action is eventually likely  to settle once analogue TV is switched off) will be in different segements of the 700MHz band is differing regions of the world.

Hi everyone, As I see the problem of laptops bricked after bios upgrade is relatively common for Lenovo. Still I've had the same problem - after installing all updates with ThinkVantage System Update (I just selected all the updates) the x230 wouldn't start. It still has active warranty till 2015, but the official Lenovo support here in Russia says this is not covered by the warranty and I should pay for motherboard replacement! And they only give answers on the phone, no e-mail or any other written answers are given as this is "confidential" I'm a bit confused, as this looks very strange: you buy a laptop for $2.5k and at any time Lenovo can brick it with its own updates and refuse to repair it (official price for the motherboard is above $1k). I see it as a direct message "Don't buy any Lenovo products". Anyone had similar problems with support? Did you have a free repair? If this is not covered by the warranty, can anyone point out where this is written as I coudn't find anything in the warranty that prevents Lenovo from repair. Thanks in advance. Edited:Here are further details in case anyone closer to Lenovo support reads this.Right after the incident I searched lenovo.com for authorised service centers and went to Auroville (www.aypo.ru) in Saint-Petersburg. They took the laptop and called me back in several days. They said that Lenovo refused to accept this as warranty so they can't do anything. Also they said that the reason for this was that t... Hello, I recently purchased x230 with Windows 8.I installed Ubuntu 12.0 (attempting to dual boot).  Unfortuantely, Windows 8 is no longer accessible(UEFI error comes up on boot), the restore partition is also corrup ("required partition cannot be found").I attempted to install win 8 PRO that I purchased from scratch.  It failes because the Windows 8 key embedded into the EFI doesn't match the new Windows 8 PRO that I have on DVD. I chatted with Lenovo support, asking to purchase restore DVDs for my laptop - I was told that it's not possible (after going thorugh a couple of people and wasting 1.5 hours on chat_ Please provide some support as it is unacceptable that I cannot install clean version of WIndows 8 and the restore disks are not available from Lenovo. Thank You.

Answer:X230 Tablet BIOS 2.57 - added support for new wireless devices - ?

There was some issue with WiFi certification in Indonesia.  The BIOS change isn't about adding new cards, it was just adding new Indonesia-only versions of the existing cards (6200 and 6205).  7260 is still not allowed in X230T.  Sorry to disappoint you.

First boot out of box "a problem for this error could not be found. Lenovo is constanly updating drivers...". Second boot, blue screen of death (dump message). Windows updates fail. Keeps installing updates and reverting changes due to failure. Lenovo updates not installing properly either. After install, updates keep showing available and reinstall. Thinkvantage system update freezes on 21%. Wifi keeps going to no signal. This computer is like a sick joke, the support has been even worse. They want to charge me for software support. "This type of support is not covered in your 3 year + accidental protection warranty, there will be a fee to resolve this"

My X239 is not charing to the full 100%, I have two other Thinkpad models that my parents and they all change to 100%.. This is newer than theirs. Also the power button on the laptop is not flexing enough, you wont fee if you are pressing it. I send this for repair twice and its not fixed yet.I wonder the support tech read the whole desciption of the trouble or just goes by the category of the trouble. I like to talk to someone to make sence but its all automated. I am so much dissatisfied with their service and the product itself.

Answer:support issue with X230 problem charing and power button stuck.

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that battery of your Lenovo ThinkPad X230 is not charging to 100% and the power button is stuck.

I would suggest you to follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Shutdown, unplug AC and remove battery. Press and hold power button for several seconds. Then re-install battery and AC and restart and see.
Download latest Power Manager and Power Management driver.
Uninstall Power Manager and Power Management driver that is already installed.
Reboot the laptop
Install Power Manager and Power Management driver
Reboot laptop again and see if helps.

Go to Power manager -> Battery tab in advanced view -> Battery maintenance -> Select always fully charge ->Ok and restart the system.

Ensure that the system is plugged-in and that battery firmware is up-to-date.  Check the Lenovo support site for any battery firmware updates for your particular model.  Perform battery gauge reset.  This will allow the battery to relearn available capacity. Update BIOS to the latest level.

Regarding the power button, you may have to disassemble the system and reseat the button. Refer hardware maintenance manual to perform disassembly of the system. Otherwise, you may have to report the issue to Lenovo technical support again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please post back with the results!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I just received and unpacked the X230.  Is there any way to tell for certain if I was shipped the Premium IPS monitor that I ordered or if I was wrongly shipped the standard monitor?

Answer:X230 - Which monitor do I have?

Tilt the display up and down, then side to side.  If it appears to darken significantly when you view from extreme angles, then it's not the IPS display.  If the view stays mostly unchanged, it is the IPS display. Also check device manager.  The monitor should say "wide vewing angle".

Hi All, I've had an issue come up with my screen over the past week (see here: http://i.imgur.com/IE6r930.jpg). This happened all of a sudden. There haven't been any issues in the 13 months I've had it (it's now of course out of warranty by a little over a month). I never dropped it or spilled anything on it either...so I'm assuming its just wear and tear, which shouldn't happen like this. Just to give slightly more background, whenever I put pressure on the bottom of the affected area (not the screen but the bezel), the problem seems to go away. Sometimes it is completely clear or some times its just not as bad. If I don't touch it, after 10 or 15 mintues the problem seems to clear itself up as well.  Today, after about 10 minutes it had cleared up, but then 20 minutes later it happened again. This time, it was harder to get it back into a working state.  At this point, I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas on what might be its affliction or how I can go about fixing it? Thanks all!

Answer:x230 Monitor Problem

if putting pressure on the system fixes the issue, then it means either it is cable, connection or the LCD problem. Cable and connections are free to fix yourself, and relatively simple.

Dear lenovo support, I just brought x230 around Nov 2012 and it have a bright spot show on the bottm-center of the screen. I put my x230 to the service center in Thailand. They need 3 days for confirmation with the head quater. After 4 days waiting, I call back to service center. They deny to solve my problem. I request for the reason because my x230 have no any sign of hit. Thai's Lenovo service team who can see my x230 also confirm that my computer have no any sign of hit. So, just the simple question and I want to know it. Why?. I will agree to leave the white spot on my screen after common use. If the reason is acceptable. Hopefully, I will get the reasonable response.

I am having a strange issue with my X230 when docked in the UltraBase 3.  This seems to have started in the last month  so I suspect either recent BIOS or driver issue. Displayport video output sometimes fails to go to my external montior (Samsung S22A460 via Displayport to DVI adapter) If I turn on the X230 and immediately log on, the external monitor works great.  But if I turn on the machine, walk away for a few minutes and then come back to actually Ctrl-Alt-Del and log on, the external monitor gets no signals. I can log on to the X230 and it works fine with its own display.  Undocking and re-docking does not start the external monitor.  Restarting the X230 in the dock does not fix it.  Full shut down  followed by power up will get the X230 to detect the external monitor again. If the machine + monitor combo starts and works it keeps working.  The machine can go to power save mode and dim or turn off the monitors.  Both the internal and external will come back on after waking the machine. If the external monitor fails to get output at first startup, the only way to get it working is full shutdown and power up.

I have no clue what happened but I have 2 office setups with docking stations, same hardware. Lenovo X230 Laptop (integrated graphics)Ultrabase Series 3 Docking Station (1 VGA, 1 Displayport) The difference though is at the office I have a DisplayPort monitor connected directly ot the dock and a VGA Monitor. At Home, I have a VGA monitor and Displayport to HDMI Adapter connected to the dock. Both were working at one point. All of a sudden, nothing plugged in the Displayport is being recognized by Windows in both office setups. I cannot even choose the monitor, and the monitor says no signal is coming. I need to get this fixed. The only monitor that always works is the laptop monitor and VGA, nothing pluggin in displayport is generating a signal in both setups listed above. Any ideas?

Answer:X230 with Ultrabase Series Base 3 - Dual Monitor Problems

Hi, sprasad03

There are a few software and driver updates available for your machine (found here), but I think your issue is hardware-related. It could either be that the DisplayPort port on the machine is no longer working, or it could be that the DisplayPort to HDMI adapter has died. If possible, I would test both components on their own and see if either of them fail.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Hey All, I am looking to get a P2815q for work.  need the extra work space for productivity.  What I am concerned about is whether or not the laptop will be able to drive that monitor, plus the existing 1680x1050 monitor I currently have.  I tried to check Intel website for HD 4k max resolution, however, they report that max resolution is dependant upon individual laptop design.  Tried to look up on Lenovo site, and max specified is 2560x1600, which coincidentaly is the most common high resolution monitor resolution.  I suspect this is not a hard limitation.  If anyone knows, and can help me out that would be great. Thanks MuchMikel.

Answer:T430 support P2815q 4k Monitor, and another Sub HD monitor

Bump.     Exactly same monitor but for the T440s.  Lenovo specifies the same limitation of 2560x1600.  I could order from Dell and try, but it's not like I have tons of free time on my hands to return the monitor if it doesn't work. Thanks, - Ryan

Hello, So I have a user that just recently started to have an issue.  The laptop is fine (beyond the sound issues with the X230 which aren't solved (sound issue)), but if the user puts the laptop in the docking station with the laptop lid/screen closed/down, the external monitor only displays the desktop background but no login screen or desktop icons. This user has Windows 7 Pro. on it, I just installed the latest video driver from Lenovo's site and that didn't help.  I made sure the screens were set to clone and not extended displays. When the user flips up the laptop screen/lid, both screens are cloned and all is fine.  Supposedly this just started to happen a few days ago. But if the user has the laptop turned off, puts it in the docking station, closes the lid and turns the laptop on, the external monitor works just fine. I've changed clone to extended desktop just to see if that would help any but it didn't.  Set her back to cloned displays. Only other thing I can think of doing is to make sure the external monitor's resolution is set right but...don't understand what's going on.... Thoughts?

Answer:x230 (2320) laptop issue with external monitor when laptop lid/screen is up

Hi, cftech

My first recommendation would be to make sure that the BIOS and chipset drivers are the latest version. Since the external monitor works, just only certain circumstances, this is most likely a software issue of some sort. The BIOS can be found here and the chipset here.

Also, if possible, could you have the user try to connect to the external monitor without the docking station? I'm just curious if the docking station could have something to do with the issue,

Best of luck, and let me know how it goes
Adam

I currently run a 2 monitor setup (video card has 2 DVI ports). I want to add a 3rd (and don't want to buy a new vid card - it seems there aren't many with 3 dvi ports on newegg). This led me to beleive that there's probably a way to do it without a different card. I don't think these will necessarily work but...can I:

1. Use a DVI splitter to achieve a 3rd monitor
2. Use the motherboard's onboard vid card single DVI slot for the 3rd port (in conjunction with the video card's 2).
3. ???

Answer:3rd monitor support

1. Won't work.
2. Probably. It does work on my Del XPS, but not very well. By the way, two identical cards works great for 4 monitors.
3. I use a Matrox TripleHead2Go for my three monitors (http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/)

Question: 3 Monitor Support

I recently purchased two 23" monitors and a VGA "Y" splitter.

I am connecting both monitors to a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop.

When the monitors are connected to the laptop, both monitors have the same image and the laptop has a different image.

How do I go about setting this up to return 3 separate images?

If 3 separate images is not an option without purchasing something very costly, Is it possible to return separate images on the monitors.

Thanks

~CoachKrav

Answer:3 Monitor Support

A simple VGA Y-splitter puts the same electrical signals on both outputs. There is no way it can support showing a different image on each output. You are going to be limited to having one image on the laptop screen and one different image coming out of the laptop's VGA connector.

Hi everybody,

I have been searching for quite some time for multiple monitor solutions. What I want is the ability to split my desktop between three monitors (no gaming). This is so I can have video lectures on one monitor, write on another, and have resource data on the third. I'm sick of switching between views to get data.

I have found the ATI 5750 video card, which supports 3 monitors with Eyefinity, but you MUST use a Display Port hookup for one monitor. If you don't have a Diplay Port monitor, then you must get an active adapter, which is backordered everywhere. (Plus it is expensive...)

I want to either slap two slim video cards into a system or use the onboard video and put in one more video card to get 3 to 4 monitor support. I know that in theory they must have like drivers to be used in Windows under the new setup (wince Vista).

What are my options? Has anyone gotten a triple or quad video setup to work under Windows 7? What hardware do you have and what'd it cost? (I want to do this under $200-ish.)

Thanks!
Dave

Answer:3+ monitor support in Win 7

Eyefinity aside, each graphic card can support, now-adays, up to 2 monitors. So, if you want 3, you need pretty much a SLi (nVidia)/Crossfire (ATi/AMD) (i.e. two graphic cards) for the third monitor. If you want a third monitor on a single card, I'm sorry to say but, ATi with Eyefinity is the only solution to you. Btw, all drivers for nVidia and ATi/AMD has Windows 7 drivers with multiple monitors support. No problems there.

My friend has a hanns-G HW-191DPB monitor and wants to buy a PS3 but isnt going to buy it unless he can use it on his monitor. Here is our problem...
First his monitor doesnt support HDCP so he cant use a HDMI to DVI cable.
So we were thinking about getting a PS3 Component cable, buying a coupler and getting a Component to VGA, but the question I have is- would his monitor support this? I was reading on the site he bought the monitor from and the specs say "Input Video Compatibility- Analog RGB, Digital" does this mean it will support it?
The site that he would buy the Component to VGA cable states "IT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CONNECT YOUR COMPONENT VIDEO SOURCES TO A REGULAR COMPUTER MONITOR OR HDTV unless you monitor specifically has this capability. Most do not. (Please check the documentation for your computer monitor)"
Could someone please help us he found a GREAT deal on the PS3 but doesnt want it if he can only use his SDTV

Hey Everyone

Wondering if you can help me. If I have a Dell Evo 510 that comes with a built in video card on the motherboard. Can I install any agp video card in the agp slot of the board and have Dual Monitor support on Windows XP Pro? Or do I have to get a special video card that has dual monitor support?

I would like to continue to use the on board video card and also use the agp card? Is this possible?

Thanks

Answer:Dual Monitor Support

i think the best way for you to approach this is to find out if the onboard mobo video card can be configured (jumpered) to support multiple cards ... contact the manufacturer to get a copy of the mobo manual

in some mobo's if the mobo detects you are using the agp card it may disbale the onboard and vice versa

Hello TSF community.
I am running a Dual-Monitor system, and I would like to know if there is a way have two applications running simultaneously. Such as having a Video Game open and on one screen, while being able to draw in Google Sketch-up. Currently, If i'm in a game and I click off the in-game screen, it will automatically minimize the program. Is there anyway to get around this in Windows 7?

Answer:Multi Monitor Support

Hi,

You won't be able to run a full-sized game on one screen and switch to another application on another screen. You can however run the game in maximized Windowed-mode, this should give the effect you're looking for.

Hello guys,

I'm in trouble with my monitor. I have one AOC 511Vwb LCD 15,6" Widescreen.
The specs in portuguese: http://www.aoc.com.br/media/anexo/es...oes/511vwb.pdf

I've been using it... i don't know... for like 5 months, and it presented a couple of times an issue of not being recognized by my OS.

When it is recognized, i can set his native resolution to 1280x800 60Hz, but now the max resolution that i can get is 1280 x 720 and this resolution is very very weird on my screen.

So i tried to use it on two diferent notebooks, one using Windows 7 and one using Windows Vista and he worked perfectly only on the notebook with Vista.

And guess what, the monitor is "Vista Ready".

This problem happened before and solved by itself, and now passed 2 weeks and nothing to come back the way it should be.

And since i've tried basicly everything i'm now "closed mind" and looking for new viewpoints.

If somebody can help me with that, i'd be grateful!

(Sorry for all the wrong sentences you find, english is not my primary language )

I am working on a laptop using the laptop screen and a seperate montior. I am running Win2000 which I updated from Win98.

In Windows 98 I could toggle my f8 key and get my monitor screen on two monitors. The key was that the workspace was large and you could move say an internt page to one screen and say set a word page in the other.

With Windows 2000 I am having problems getting this function. The toggle still works, but the workspace is different. Waht is in one screen is in the other. I have tested all the different screen settings and wnet through the help functions on the software to turn on the second monitor and make it primary or secondary. The problem is that you cannot set up one large workspace and have the windows in each screen sized to appear like two seperate work spaces.

Several have commented that this problem was due to the montitor driver, but I don't think that is correct as the driver updates do not change anything. I have also called MS and tech support is no help what so ever. Does anyone have any thoughts.

Thanks.

Answer:Multiple Monitor Support

It was never supported in NT so my guess would be that it's not supported in Win2K either.

I just purchased an Acer 19" LCD very sweet monitor, though I don't think I'll buy an lcd again. Like the look of the CRT better. Anyhow, I always used dual monitors before the lcd and now when I try the crt becomes the primary monitor. I can force the lcd to be the primary but then my icons are messed up and dragging anything to the secondary monitor is all backwards.

Am I correct in assuming that since they are two different monitors that I will not fix this issue? I did run the lcd with the vga port and all was fine except for the screen getting very glitched until I cut the power to it and turned it back on. Any suggestions?

Hey guys i'm not quite sure where to put this thread so i took a guess.

Anyway i have 2 22" LCD Monitors and when i plug them in. Windows 7 does this weird thing were when you select the option to extend the desktop spanning from left to right. Instead of simply scrolling from the left screen to the right screen with your hand as you usually would with any OS, Windows 7 BETA somewhat reverses it were you have to scroll to the left from your 1st monitor to get the 2nd monitor.

(sorry if this is really confusing im having a differculty writing this also haha)

And if you select your monitor on your left to be your primary monitor, it will wont do that it will move the it to your right monitor instead so i decided to physically switch the monitors around on my desk to get it normal. but i don't like the idea of my computer telling me what to do hahaha.

I know its a beta OS but its still based somewhat on vista.

ive got the latest drivers for my graphics card and my graphics card is a NVIDIA 260GTX so its pretty meaty and it can do dual monitor fine on other os's

any of your input would be great guys

thanks

Answer:Dual monitor support?

Hard to understand what you mean.. and if there's a question in your topic ...

But for what I understand. Windows don't know the physical position of your monitors on your desktop. By default it use "video output 1" for left monitor and "video output 2" for right monitor.
But if your left monitor is plugged on the "video output 2", you will have a windows desktop which doesn't correspond to the physical configuration.

I'm not at home so I can tel you exactly the way to do. But as under Vista and as under XP, you can change this settings under the "display settings" You just have to revert the "logical" position of your monitor, so the windows desktop will match to your physical configuration.

If nobody else help you before tonight (GMT+1 here) I'll tell you exactly what you have to do.

I have an LCD TV and an ordinary CRT Monitor which I would like to set up for dual display support with the LCD TV using a DVI Connection and the CRT Monitor using a VGA Connection. Answer:Does my monitor support 2560x1600 res?

Well, as you know, the native resolution is 1920 X 1080. All the other details as to maximum should be on the HP site. What you list is for HP Canada. Pay close attention to contrast ratios as well.
The video card goes to 2040 X 1536, but I would never depend on a used graphics card to do what you want at those resolutions.
Short answer: should work, but I would want to see it in the details on the HP site.

I have an old IBM Thinkpad 310 laptop which hard drive recently stop working and so i had to buy a new one. It originally shipped with windows 95 but now I have updated to windows 98 se. Im using windows drivers and most of them are working fine, but I can´t change the monitors settings to 800*600 with 16 bit colors, it only accepts 640*400 at that colour depth. The driver that windows is using for the monitor is a "default monitor driver" and the video card driver is the most updated version from ibm. I think I remember the laptop supporting 800*600 @ 16 bit before but now I do not know which monitor driver to install and IBM doesnt have monitor drivers and it is no longer supporting that model. Is there a way to find out if the monitor actually supports those resolutions?

Good Day everyone! I'm not sure if this has been discussed recently or not (searched but was unable to locate anything similar). I am running Win 10 x64 on a Folio 9470m.  Until recently (Anniversary update), I have had the ability to connect multi monitors (2 external + laptop screen), using 2 different style docking stations at different locations (I bounce between offices daily).  The docking stations used are the HP UltraSlim Docking Station (D9Y32AA), and an HP USB Docking Station w/ Video output. On the Ultra Slim, I am connecting using VGA and a Displayport to VGA adapter.  On the USB docking station w/ Video out, I am using DVI, and then the VGA port on the laptop itself. Until the anniversary update for 10, I had no problems with running the 2 external monitors, plus the laptop screen.  Unfortunately, the anniversary update seems to have broken that, using both docking stations.  Just to be clear, I have downloaded the most recent drivers, etc. Now, I know what everyone is gonna say, that I should have waited to install the update, but I couldn't resist (there were some new features I wanted to test out).  Other than wait for updated drivers (no ETA that I am aware of), and rolling back to a prior version of Win 10, does anyone else have any ideas?  I can work with the current setup (1 external monitor + laptop screen), but I would rather be able to use all 3...

hey. Recently I got a new computer. On my previous one i had it set up so that it had 2 monitors working in unison side by side, and apparently i took it for granted, cause' now that I am stuck with just one it seems like everythings cramped and it sucks. On the old computer I had the 2ndary monitor plugged into the low end peripheral graphics card (gc) that came with the system and the primary monitor in the after market 64mb nvidia something. The driver for the new card supported 2 monitors, so i plugged the other monitor into the low end card and it worked pretty much flawlessly. Now though, on the new one, it does not work because it has an onboard gc and the same new card from the old machine. Is it possible to run 2 monitors with the onboard port, and the port on the gc?

Answer:dual monitor support

Depends on the motherboard. Some permanently disable the on-board adapter when an AGP adapter is detected, some don't.

Mine disables it, but I use a dual output card to drive dual LCD's.

I have an AOC monitor, a couple of years old. It worked fine until I experienced some issues with the games Shadow of Mordor and Prison Architect (I'm sure I have other games with this issue but these were the ones I tried.) Upon opening either of these games, I could hear the sound but the screen went black with a small box floating around that said 'Input Not Support'. I looked up the issue and followed a few guides which didn't seem to work. Eventually I came across a guide that said 'try putting your resolution up to the highest it can go on the display settings of your computer'. I did this, only to be greeted with 'input not support' on my desktop. For some odd reason the res refused to reset, so I force restarted my computer with the power button. The moment it loaded, when I should've been greeted with the lock or Windows loading screen the screen once again turned black with the 'input not support' box. I tried booting in safe mode but I can't find any help for doing that without reaching the lock screen as I run windows 10, so there's no time to click f8. Any help is appreciated, even if it's only a monitor that can survive most resolutions (I can't remember exactly what I went up to but I think it was 2000xsomething)
I'd like to highlight that my monitor was working perfectly before with games such as Age of Mythology (extended edition) and Empire: Total War

Hello. I am an owner of T40 laptop model 2379D3U. I would like to purchase an LCD monitor and connect to laptop directly via d-SUB connector (without docking station). Can I get reliable opinion if laptop will support Wide resolutions on external LCD like 1600x1200 or 1440x900 ? It is working fine with 1280x1024 Perhaps you can address me to written tech info of my laptop model regarding external monitors compatibility?  Thanks !)

Answer:T40 external monitor support

For widescreen resolution you would need to download the older Omega ATI Catalyst drivers, which will support the resolution. So the two resolution you have suggested are all possible. I use it all the time on my T40.

My colleage has a w500 that supports his build in screen plus 2 others (total 3).  My w500 only supports 2 (both external).  HOw can they be different?  Is there something I can do to support all three screens?  Is there something about resolution that limits it?  He has small monitors than I do.

Answer:multi monitor support

unless he has a Lenovo usb2dvi plug in or using an advanced dock with additional graphics card, there is no way that he can have 3 screens.

Answer:Multi Monitor support

Most likely it has a VGA and a Digital.

You would need to get a Digital to VGA converter.

Hi Guys,

I have two graphics cards

1x On Board Graphics (i think its this VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro)
1x AGP Graphics Card (Nvidia GE Force FX5200 128MB)

Im just wondering if theres any way to combine the two in order to make my tv a dual monitor as it would be ideal to watch films on.

I could just keep swapping the wires between the two but isnt exactly ideal.

Any ideas would be helpful

cheers

Hi,   I have a M91p tower, 7052-A8U, with the factory 2 port ATI 5450 card installed.   According to the data sheet, this ATI card "works with the Intel HD Graphics to support four independent monitors."   I have not been able to get a 3rd monitor on either internal port to work at the same time as the ATI ports (selecting the IGP in the BIOS video will enable the internal ports, but disable the ATI.)   Is there a trick to making them all work?  I can't be the first one needing more than 2 monitors (I will need 4 total.)  More info:  factory Win 7 64-bit SP1;  I de and re-installed the current ATI software and drivers from the Lenovo website for this system, Intel HD graphics and BIOS updated.  Video is set to "Auto" in the BIOS (was the default), all monitors are the same 1920 x 1080 resolution. Clicking detect in Windows or ATI Catalyst shows only the two ATI connected monitors.  I spent an hour on the phone with Lenovo (IBM) tech support, no joy.   They were going build a system to test, and call back, but haven't heard from them.  TIA for any information or suggestions.   Alan.

I just purchased an M55 (8811 DEU) and am unable to set the monitor resolution any higher than 1600x900 and it is unbearable to look at.  My Samsung 226BW monitor requires a resolution of 1680x1050.  I have updated my video drivers at Lenovo.com and just installed the monitor drivers from Samsung.  I have been all day on the phone with customer service for both Lenovo and Samsung and no one has any answers for me.  It seems odd that a new desktop could not support a 22inch monitor.  Someone said I might need to buy a new video card.  I don't know which one I have -  I purchased the desktop for the Lenovo outlet a few weeks ago.  Can anyone help me?Thanks!

Answer:M55 can't support 1680x1050 monitor

Hullo Trautmak,Had a quick look at the specs for your machine.  The M55p comes either with on-board video or an ATI Radeon X300SE card.  Unfortunately, I can't tell which one you have but you should be able to.  If there is a card present (and you didn't install one yourself or purchase the machine with other optional cards installed), then it is likely that your system has the Radeon.  Otherwise it'll be on-board video.  Both are capable of quite good resolution  - for example, the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 (on-board video) supports upto 1920 x 1440, 16M colors (at 85 Hz).  At a refresh rate of 120 Hz, the on-board video is capable of supporting 1600 x 1200 (which ain't too bad in my book). So, before you go rushing out to buy a new graphics card, try varying (actually, lowering) the refresh rate.  One of my machines has a Samsung monitor (the smaller 206BW) and this is what I had to do to use a higher resolution.

K i have just realized a problem ......or a glitch in windows 7.....i have a dual monitor and when i shift my icons into the other monitor and restart the icons just come back and donot stay in display 2......but come back to the primary monitor.....any buddy have the same problem.....its as though windows dint even save that change of mine.....or does it have an option to put all icons on monitor 2...

Answer:Dual Monitor Support

I do not have this issue
Icons stay on the second monitor.
For me it works better than under XP and Vista. When the video driver or explorer.exe crash or restart, the icons stay where there are unlike with XP or Vista (less often for the last).

Maybe there's an issue about saving some user pref. in your profile

Try with a new user account to see if it do the same.

I have a Lenovo T60 running on Vista 32-bit.  I have the latest Video Drivers, but whenever my laptop comes out of hibernation I lose dual monitor support.  Is there a solution to this problem?

Answer:T60 Vista and Dual Monitor Support

The issue you're facing is a combination of a Vista "bug" and the video drivers. If you are using the latest video drivers, check to see that Vista is not managing the TMM - Vista has a bad habit of just remembering the initial setup, therefore when you take your computer off the dock, Vista doesn't like the change and will "conveniently" forget any variation of settings you may introduce.Read this article on TMM for Vista  (.doc file - read the first section)Hope that helpsMessage Edited by icantux on 04-28-2008 08:34 PM

Hello,
Couple questions.
I just built a new PC. Specs are:
Windows XP Professional 64 bit edition
4200+ Dual Core processor AM2 slot
2 gig cosair xms ram DDR2 (800) (dual channel sticks 2x1gig)
7600 GT OC Nvidia card
450Watt Power supply

I have two monitors running. One is wide screen with a max resolution of 1366x768 (an LCD TV)...the other is a standard CRT with 1600x1200.

My question is this. I have my processor over clocked slightly (running from 2.4 to 2.6 ghz with multiplier of 11)

Every now and then when I reboot my PC i get tiny little boxes all over my display or tiny little lines that completely scramble the screen.

Is this a video card issue or is it something happening because an unstable system from over clocking my processor? Or even yet, is it a possible ram issue? Or is it maybe a power supply issue (450watt)?

I disabled my dual support and every now and then it still happened. I would just continue to hit reset and it would work itself out.

Any ideas on what could be causing this problem?

ALSO: I am doing some gaming (playing a new MMO)...does Dual monitor mode drain some of the video cards power? I would like to maximize how smooth the game runs. Will disabling dual monitor support and unplugging my second monitor free up some power and speed up my games? Silly question, but I have no clue .

Thanks in advance for help on both questions.
Craig

I haven't really played around with dual monitor setups at all in the past. However, I have some spare 17" LCDs at work. Does Vista handle dual screens pretty well, in concert with the Nvidia drivers? Both of the screens will be the same size and resolution, so I'm thinking UltraMon would be overkill.

Hi
i have a hp2010i DVI and VGA capable monitor with hp 6610. I have an older VGA only monitor from my dell xp computer. I want to see if i can use both monitors as a dual monitor config but i am thinking i may need some kind of video adapter. . is it possible to have both monitors run to the vga port via some kind of adapter or can i even do this at all? Or worse do i need to buy another monitor compatile with my new monitor. I also dont know what they mean by a video adapter. the new monitor only has vga and dvi outputs and the old is vga only as i said. The hp computer only has a dvi port and then an hdmi port, but not vga. i currently have a vga to dvi adapter to run the new monitor off the vga port.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Answer:dual monitor support windows 7

It depends on your computer, and it's video card. Do you have more than 1 video output?

I have two external monitors set up to my laptop. An old Dell monitor via VGA, and a HDTV via HDMI. However, my card only supports using two at a time. If I had a better video card I could run all three at once.

I also have a digital projector I use (disconnecting the HDTV) that can run with a VGA cable or a HDMI to DVI-D cable

Hello! I joined your forums in order to post this question: Does the Lenovo Yoga 700 2-in-1 w/ integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 support an external/dual monitor? I bought an LG Ultrawide monitor (model 29um58-p) to act as a second monitor- but cannot get a steady image on the monitor.  Does this model of laptop even support a second monitor?  I plugged the monitor into a desktop tower as a control and the monitor displayed a clear steady picture instantly.  That dekstop had a Radeon card in it. Could it be an issue of resolution or refresh rate?  Does it have to do with Lenovo's special display drivers (to work with the convertible tablet feature)?   I tried downloading and installing the "windows 10" drivers for the monitor from LG's website but the installation kept "failing".   Any advice and assistance will be greatly appreciated.  The monitor is a black Friday purchase and I have to decide whether or not to return it before I travel. Thanks!FA

I've just spent the past 2 hours on the phone with Lenovo support, that has no idea what they're doing. I spent several hours researching and I can't figure this out. I bought 2x Samsung S27C750 monitors and the micro-hdmi to HDMI adapter for my Yoga 2 Pro. Step 1: I connect micro-hdmi into Yoga 2 Pro and the HDMI end into 1st Monitor.Step 2: Add additional HDMI cord from 1st monitor into second.this is where I'm stuck I get a view on 1st monitor, but second can't display anything. Lenovo said it's because I only have 1 HDMI out port on the Yoga. Which I agree with, but there is no way to customize these laptops to add a 2nd or a third. I watched YouTube videos of people doing multi-monitor support, so I know it's possible just don't know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro - Multi Monitor Support

As far as I know, you cannot daisy chain HDMI.  You need a second output from the computer, probably a USB to HDMI adapter plugged into a USB port on the computer, or an entire docking station (with a video port) plugged into a USB port on the computer. Or, if you can get the mythical WiDi to work, that would be an option, as well.
